"Of the odd couple with chris bruce and rob harker and tj. Tom brady had some comments about how the rules are slanted in the nfl. Basically to make offense better. We saw change about ten or twelve years ago when they just protected the quarterback and protected the wide receiver and the db's in defense was that are being held back basically and can't do what they used to do. And you played in the era. When pop and quarterbacks get knocked out of games all the time and now they've soften everything for the offense because they want more points they believe. That's what fans want. Let's hear tom brady and then tj. I want to hear your thoughts. The one thing about football that's changed over. The years which i think is really hard for someone like muse played a long time to watch like they're not being taught the right way like a quarterback should only throw the ball at a certain places because your receiver is endanger getting hit for example when i used to play against ray lewis. I wouldn't throw the ball to the middle of the field because he would he go after you. And he would hit like we didn't always had the biggest receivers but he would hit them and knock him out of the game and now any every hard. Hit is a penalty on the defense. I feel like they penalized defensive players offensive mistakes. Dj your thoughts from tom brady. I agree with them and brady. If i had been in new england you could thrown across the middle. Because i wasn't afraid to take those hits just. fyi. I wanna play man. You be you'd be living in beverly hills with with the money you make you know what i'm saying. I've always said. The defender is running at full speed downhill. He's going to drop his body. If i dropped my body. And he drops his. It's probably going to be held but the helmet contact. But i dropped a curl up to brace for that. He can't change that in order to lead with my shoulder. my head has to drop. My head is gonna drop if i'm leading. What my shoulder and so certain things like they should not be penalties. Like you go back to brady said about the justice fields hit. I was watching that game live. It was to his right side. I'm there's no way just lying just missed the block. They didn't get the protection call. Whatever with at least. That's what i believe. That's what you saw. And i don't know anybody. And mike mayock the gm of the las vegas raiders. He came out rob and four guy. That honestly i don't think has much power there. I think it's all jon gruden as far as football decisions mike. May i came out with a little boldness today. Stuck his chest out put some bass in his voice and said this john and i will tell you that we feel like we need to be a playoff team this year. And i don't think there's any doubt about that. And you guys are all going to put that and your headlines. And i understand it but we're not i mean that's what the expectation is. We think we've done the infrastructure work necessary to put us in position and we got to take care of business. I like it. I like it now. Know how much there is behind it. How much substance. There is behind it rob but let me say this to you okay. He said we gotta make the playoffs. We expect to make the playoffs. He didn't say that that's not. We didn't say we gotta make the plows. Yes he said. We expect to make the play. I'm not enough room for him. That's enough wiggle room x. Yes it is. And i got a problem with that and chris. I don't mean to cut you off. If you know. "Couple with chris. Bruce and rob harker interesting day in college football. There had been these reports. Tj over the last week to ten days to weeks. Whatever was that in light of the sec. Basically throwing their weight around and bring in texas and oklahoma to that league at some point in the near future that the other three remaining power conferences on a big twelve. Probably not a power conference at this point that the three power conferences the big ten the acc and the pac twelve they were going to unite some sort of alliance basically to combat a little. Bit of what the sec has done. We got some details today as ralph irvine just told you there's scheduling components and down the road. This team's gonna play that team but my biggest takeaway. Tj was was two things one. It was very clear that this was a pushback at the sec. Saying hey wait a second now. You guys are not just going to run over the rest of us but too. I think it's a good thing. Because those conference commissioners with the backing of the school presidents at all their schools basically said. Hey let's move forward as a group. Were not going to steal teams and play whatever programs athletic departments from each other. Let's get some stability in this sport. Let's go with the status quo as is and for people who are worried about this crazy landgrab or this program was going to go here and this one was going go there and this one was gonna get left behind and what happens here. It doesn't feel like that is going to happen so tj. I know you saw the news today. Know your huge college football guy. What did you make of today's announcement with the alliance between the acc. Pac twelve and big ten. They really had no choice if they in the future wanted to still be recognized in notice as the big ten the pac twelve. Acc the sec is coming for everybody's neck in. They're trying to put all conferences out of business so to speak in and just trying to take your business. That's that's what they're doing and so for me who in it seemed like the pac twelve. Were the initiators in this. It was smart on their behalf.

You know like i. I've never been to that point. Where i have any sort of you know dudes rude and saying obnoxious stuff. I'm with you go into a ball game to get beat up a half. That guy obviously looked like he thought he you know he was the biggest dude on the block and that's all good but when you're sideways and there's four dudes whoop it on you. It's pretty hard. The bigger thing is that the woman does that. Choose like the cup or from the did you see the mouth of the palace documentary. I actually missed that game. All i went to every single pistons game for about dog home game especially for about seven years six seven years and i had a speaking engagement that night. It was a friday night and i was going to drive up to the palace after the engagement to catch the second half and the problem was as i was driving from the event to get on the freeway to go to palace which you know was thirty miles outside of detroit. I have to pass my apartment. I get in a car. I turn on the radio and the pistons were down fifteen points and i'm like do i really want to drive thirty miles to this game. Right when there's no game own a blowout and my apartment is right here to the left. All that have to do is turn left. And i'm home. So i turn left and so i missed it. Okay i mean my my greatest. Mrs do you remember the kick six auburn and alabama yes. How many years ago is this is so. I think it was two thousand thirteen ish iron bowl right so i have. I've a dear friend who is a huge Mike hairston is a huge alum and supporter of auburn football. Yes has a box at the games and he was like bro. You got to come. And i had a game. The next day i had a i had a college basketball game for for cbs. And i still have. He took a picture. I put it out on social media. I he had. He had a ticket waiting for me for the box. And i i was going to fly to atlanta overnight drive and go to the game and then go to my basketball game and cbs. We'd like you to get there the day before just to be safe and so i watched the entire game. Lax and. i'm sitting there going like all right. I miss but auburn's gonna lose. I'm not sure. I wanted to be when they lose anyway. It's a great football game and then that happens right. And so that's that's the greatest myths of my of my of my phantom. I'm i'm not nfl guy so i'm solely nfl. I mean maybe. I could go to a basketball game out of season. Something like that. But if we're talking football right. I've had some great experiences in college college football that that atmosphere is crazy. But we're talking. Nfl football here There's just nothing that could get me you. Could you could give me free tickets to box on a monday night game. And i'd probably say i'd rather watch the game from home. Live bet it and track data. While i'm doing so and and forget about sunday with all the games that are going on sunday i've got to be in you know in in my bunker watching all of these questions. There's no question it's better to watch it at home. We were just talking about one. I love to go to the game. Yes but the problem with. Nfl games is with the exception of the sunday night in the monday. You do feel like you're missing. Mrs up missing lights is called. you could wasn't. He doesn't tell all right let's get. I've never seen the red zone. I've never i watched one for. I've never seen a red zone ottoman. Know what that is okay. I wanted wanted the greatest channel. I watch sports tailgate. Because i want to watch the game. Defense.

Now i'm not saying i'm going out on my way necessarily to watch a ton of this stuff outside of basketball there's some track and field when that starts and but it is it you know when we were coming up. You used to see a lot of this stuff. On why world of sports. You know like when when a random saturday you might see speed skating or ping pong or you know swimming or somebody's sports. Nowadays i mean less in america. We pretty much just focus on basketball football baseball. And you're you see this so many of these. These guys are tremendous athletes in so many of these other sports. Like i gotta give him props the gymnast. That's incredible was some of these gymnasts do outages watching bad bitten. I mean we think of badminton is just something you do at a at a picnic or something but these bad been players are like crazy crazy. Good ridiculous and so. It's good to see all really gained an appreciation for how great these other athletes are route. Yeah i've i've waned on the olympics of late not really interested in this olympics. Highlights obviously men's basketball highlights and stuff like that. But i'm not. I'm out on this one. Just an feel right to me to have you. Don't think they should be having it now. Just kind of the some of the stuff that went on you know like what they say. You couldn't protest. You couldn't do any black lives matter that bothers me just because that's yeah. Yeah i know we're talking about that right no just saying i. We generally don't even see we don't really see gymnasts today in. No i think it out. But you know what i'm saying. No no you're right. We used to watch. Abc or and on nbc. His show was you remember quits grandstand yet with grandstand bryant. Gumbel started on brand on on on grandstand. And who's the other guy lee. And that should be your first priority well This takes it even a step further because now there really are some ramifications if an outbreak occurs say because a player has not been vaccinated. This water. first thing is so last year just so everybody doesn't think that this is new. The policy was last year that have games had to be forfeited. That players were not going to be paid and the news just games. Yeah but that's what i'm saying. Is that the difference between this year and last year is is that the league is like we're not bending over backwards if you are not a fully vaccinated team or at least up to eighty five percent that that we're not bending over backwards making it uncomfortable and you know in putting every everybody else out plan on wednesdays and doing everything that they did to make sure. The games went off last year. They're like if you're not gonna help yourself. We're definitely not going to help you.
