"I mean I guess if you look at like X. Philip was his best x v ever even better than his twenty eighteen cy young year I don't know if you looked at deserve run average or something like maybe there's some stats in which he was better. Clearly, his strikeout rate was higher this year than ever before. So in some ways he is better but. In terms of fifth or you're a we just had that discussion. He is not better than he was two years ago and so would you rather have the guy who is this good and is throwing one hundred two at Max or would you rather have the guy who's topping out at one hundred and averaging ninety six point seven because it's sort of scary if you're throwing one, zero, two, one or three, you start to think he's GonNa break down. Like you you just an arm cannot sustain that and you look at center garden other guys who have thrown that hard and the injury record is not great. So in a way, I might almost rather have someone who throws hard but not hardest just because I feel like maybe the health that look a little bit better on the other hand, you always project some loss of lusty eventually although into grams case, he's Benjamin buttoning here with his fastball speed. But you'd expect him to lose vast at some point right and so the faster he throws now the harder he will throw after losing busty. So I don't know which is actually better for his long term outlook throwing this harder soaring as hard as he did a couple of years ago and the season in some ways benefited him or I guess, how do I put this? It was a much shorter season. Yes, and so he didn't have to worry. About pacing himself through through a long season, and partly because it was a shorter season partly because of doubleheaders and things like that he also through fewer innings per game. So he didn't have to pay himself as much in each game like two, thousand, eighteen he averaged almost seven innings to start this year he averaged five and a half innings per start by point six, seven innings per start and so do you suppose that outland? Of course for what? It's worth. The mets aren't in the playoffs and so he didn't have to worry too much about being fresh October although they know that they weren't getting in the playoffs until relatively late. Do you suppose that this is this could be partly a twenty thing and that we might not have actually changed much this year. So much as he was like almost you know kind of like an know he got some of the boost that our reliever would. Get by only having to throw sixty eight innings this year instead of having to throw two hundred and ten, right? Yes that's possible. There was no great league-wide uptick in philosophy at the average for seamer speed went from ninety three point six, the past two years to ninety three point seven this year, and that's even with all other starters making shorter outings and more relievers pitching innings. So it doesn't seem like across the board that was the case and. Of course, there was the shorter ramp up to the season, which may be you build up arm strength less than you typically would. So that could go either way. But maybe in his case because he had this extreme result, it is logical to think that it had something to do with that but it's really just extraordinary mean he's been so great. But the fact that his stuff just keeps getting better is unprecedented as far as we know ninety nine. As, a starter done that his starter average ninety nine. That doesn't feel right to me. It does to me like a star. If I if you ask me gas, I would guess that the hardest a star had average would be like in the maybe high ninety seven's that is the hardest anyone has averaged. The next closest guy is card who averaged ninety eight, point nine in two, thousand, sixteen. So yeah, this is the tops. Big Difference. Ninety nine. Nigger Ninety, eight, ninety eight yet starts chips such an eight. It's got well, I didn't bring anything I guess we could did you watch the final day? No of the season yesterday I just I just wanted to note that like basically the way the season ended. Baseball in two, thousand, twelve, two, thousand, twelve as jazz and twelve or two thousand eleven year where they had the final day of the season was so incredible and outrageous in a sign thousand eleven two thousand eleven. And I always sort of think that like this plan of having all the teams play at the same time. On Sunday partly that's for fairness you don't want to give. Team intelligence about whether, they need to win or lose whether they can rest their starters and so that's that's part of it but I feel like part of it too is trying to recapture the magic of two thousand eleven where you have like the Games going on simultaneously. So the the playoff implications are changing constantly between cities and you can have an extraordinary result followed by another extraordinary result and and like we're all really wrapped up in this synchronized playoff push, right? And, so Sunday was sort of the worst possible way for that to end just because the way that the playoffs were finally settled was that the brewers lost and the giants lost, and so what happened is that you had the final playoff team winning basically getting their spot right after they lost to lock in a sub five hundred record and then they won but they got the playoff spot anyway because another team lost to tie them but because of the tiebreaker system this year, the brewers got the playoff spot even though the tiebreaker says I don't know if you guys talked about this on the show, but the tiger says the makes no sense whatsoever. With, we already have a unbalanced schedule. There's no overlap between anybody schedule. So we already have an unprecedentedly unbalanced schedule because you only play play teams in your region, and so now the tiebreaker is how well you did against teams in your region like a subset of teams in your region but the tiebreaker was how you did against your division but almost all they played was teams against a division this. Year. The brewers already had this advantage presumably that they had a a weaker schedule than teams in the east or the West, and now the tiebreaker is how you do against your division fairy odd very odd decision to make the tiebreaker that and so you have. Okay. So the final, the final showdown of the season is one team loses and then the other team loses and they both have the same. Because of Tiebreaker one team is now celebrating in their losing locker room which I don't think they're allowed to hang out in their locker room. So they've probably have already gone home by then the brewers are probably already gone home by then by the time, they get their ticket punched for the sixteen. Team. They were still there because I think they took a triumphant photo on the field which just. Yeah? We lost. We snuck in with our sub five, hundred record twenty. Banner? Up? Tiebreaker t shirt. And on top of all that you had it and you had the giants game end on a really bad strike call by Rob Drake and I don't know if you followed the game at all I don't know if you follow the Rob Drake thing at all has absolutely no. Okay. So Rob Rob Drake, have you heard? Rob Drake's name the last twenty four hours. So this game was like okay you know how there's this idea that like a lot of these games on the last day the season don't really matter in the so the umpires give this really wide strike zone it's almost like a caricature of the umpire who wants to go home for the off season everybody wants to go home for the off season. So it's a big strike zone you better be swinging. We're all going home right and you got the sense that Rob Drake didn't. Realize that there were playoff implications in this game because this strike zone started out really large and then just kept growing and growing and it was like I have not seen anything like this in the pitch F X era where the.

"The Rockies are tied for sixth with those 16 steals. Yeah, I mean, and that was an easy steel with a left handed pitcher on the mound. So young now Has to deal with a runner in scoring position, one out. A ball in a strike to Blackman. A kick in the pitch and that's AH inside. Strike. My goodness! One and two Charlie as a second glance back at Rob Drake, as if to say, really And the answer would be yes, really. So a ball and two strikes to Blackman. And again, young. Really is an offspeed type of pitcher and he's going to step off Blackman will step out. Story singles Barnato pops out, then Trevor take second on the stolen base. And again, Young will step off until room out in front of the A mound, the down slope of the mountain. Carson Kelly, the catcher is going to pay a visit. So they get on the same page. "No. Rob Drake is certainly been in the center of a number of things with the Rockies and There's another one. It could have been the Calhoun was talking to Drake as he was going out there to right field swinging animists on a fastball. And that's strike three. Matt Kemp and Weidner gets his first strikeout one out here in the sixth inning. Chevy Sports Does scoreboard update brought to you by your Colorado Chevy dealers with their open road sales event going on right now. Get your perfect Chevy Online. Err, it's your Colorado's Chevy dealers. Finally got a good replay of that play. And there's no question that Cole Calhoun was trying to get interviews. I gotta Hellman. I know it. He hit me in the head like he was a soccer player. Yeah, hit the baseball. That's why I'm chuckling from that angle. It's just funny. Swing by Sam Hilliard and a drive to center field but room for Marta's he steps on the track nearly 400 ft from home plate. But it's out number two here in the sixth. On that Chevy Sports Does. Scoreboard just gone final in ST Louis Jack flirt. He's a very fine picture he gets. The wind for ST Louis is a beat Kansas City 9 to 3. Former D back Paul Goldschmidt had three hits, including a homer and three runs batted in. Garrett Hampson has struck out twice and takes a pitch at the bottom of the zone for strike one here. The two strikeouts for Garrett against the starter, Clark. Who struck out four Which outside one on Iraqis Radio network powered by PDC Energy, a Colorado oil and natural gas company with Colorado values. "Garber is pointing at the dirt saying, Look where I wass. How could I have interfered with him from this position? His dugout, not arguing You cannot challenge this. And Rob Drake is calling interference. At first, I thought they would call that a foul ball. But then watching Braun take his base. He knew that first base was going to be his so yell it has to go back to second base. They score that to advance to first yell it. A rule has to go back to second base with a two on one in nobody out, Rondell hitting left handed when shift three on the right side. Rosario playing a few steps in and left on the first pitch, swinging drive into right field and deep back those Gonzales at the wall is gonna take five. Monte Grande. Don't go ahead, three run homer to write and the Brewers laid by one first home run since Allie's Baldelli will leave the dugout, make a pitching change a swine, Harper Has been so good this year had a rough going here tonight. That's wins after rally down five for a four run the walkie seven and still nobody else. Stock is one for three and the old one popped up. Playable infield right side. We've got eyes on the dirt falling and catching one baseball left. But now Hater guy that we referenced earlier. Dodgers’ Justin Turner appeals one-game suspension for making contact with umpire

"Turner is fighting back. He apparently is appealing his one one game suspension for making contact with umpire demogra- to ever make an make contact with the <hes> with an official on purpose not on purpose wink. Thank you know if you get caught in the polly. You get caught in the bible. No never never shouted things that you know oh yeah. That's like comments. Senators talked about. I mean look guys looking right at me. I'm being held and he doesn't make the call right. Of course i'm going to be upset stealing from me. What exactly yeah you you know. I had one guy that told me when i was a rookie. You didn't earn that yet rook and that one so that set me off and the other one was well. He didn't hold you long enough off. What the hell does that mean yeah. He didn't hold me long enough holding his holding <hes> make the call yeah yeah. It's just interesting. I mean i guess if you're turner you bump rob drake and you're like all right whatever it doesn't hurt you to to appeal it right you get what's the worst thing can happen. They say no don't get suspended for a game there. They're sitting there resting him today. He's not he's not. This is not this suspension. He's not in the lineup round but this was a planned day of rest other resting or arresting no wrestling. I saw sports that would that would be yeah. That would be a different thing but it's funny because the headline in the l._a. Times dodger slump gets. It's worse as they let wins. Laundries come on. I mean we're scratching. That's a headline you crazy cares. Dodger slump gets worse as they let method yeah. That is absurd sorry l._a. Times what's what's their last ten games. They're win-loss ten who cares they're up by thousand but if you lose lose nine of your last ten considerable slump yes for what you're doing there is you're a racing the context that is actually the job of us to provide in this. That's the that's the whole reason they lost angel rodriguez boy over there at the time yeah if so if you so one nine of ten to three to the yankees and then they just lost one game of the padres and in the context in five in the last ten their season has been is being five five hundred a quote slump i mean i just find that to be absurd. How many games they apply now yeah fifteen they are up twenty game okay and the division the division so you're still slump being twenty da top two games in september a couple years ago angel rodriguez everybody who retiree who was the sports editor of the l._a.

"Seven inning start here today. So Milan-San on the mound against the nine one two spots for the Orioles with the giants head in game seven two two. Is a guy sits down beneath this year? Who announces every new pitcher? Like, like maybe the people didn't catch the announcement on the public address, or see it on the school board. So he announces it for everybody. Here's Austin wins against Lanson and cutter in for a called strike. For the job. But he's. Attention. And if you people are applaud when he gives the name. Hit the strike offering curb ball. Oh, call the ball one ball one strike. I'm in this series Molinski last night, and rob Drake so far today. They're not they're not into that high strike. The one that the staff can strike zone says is a strike. Here's the one offering a cutter wicked swung and missed that one broke very late and right off the outside corner. He needed a longer bat to hit that one one, and two wins has flied out to center and singled home run. Now delivers curb ounce too short couple of hops to Crawford the throat a I in time. One.
