"It's nightside with Dan Ray WBZ easy. Boston's news radio. Okay, we're going to try to get everybody in. Let's go to Tom and Lynn. Tom. You were next on nightside going to hit Tom. Hi, Dean. It's not why I called. The last call is Susan from Chicago. There, you know the taxes. It's uh if it if it moves saluted if it doesn't paint it. That's another. That is another phrase. That's when you're in the army, but, uh, I think the tax policy is tax only two things. Things that move or don't move one of the other. Go right ahead. Um, okay, but I like the I like the open line thing here. What I want to, uh, run by you with the new government in Afghanistan going on about three weeks ago. Started with the precedent. Uh sake, the press secretary, she said something paraphrasing her, she said. If the Taliban does not play nice, the international community will kind of rolled my eyes. Couple of days later, somebody from D O D or states that essentially same thing Now, for the last week and a half we begin that's getting a steady diet of that. The tyrant, Taliban and move government and an inclusive And I say to myself, what is wrong with you people? What do you think they're gonna call busy and say, Well, look at the Dan rate Trump. Look here. Here's the Here's the United Nations Secretary General. Antonio Guterres, listen to what he has to say He's ready to, like, Give this guy the keys to the kingdom. This is cut 29, the U. N secretary general, if you've ever if you have any faith left in the United Nations Here you go. 29 Rob, that is leverage. But it would be necessary for all the elements of the international community to come together and to engage with the Taliban. Positively because I think we need to engage with reality that is there but at the same time to provide the Taliban the idea that they can become part of a normal world if they are able to do a number of six and other things I described. Oh, yeah, they don't kill as many women. Oh Oh, yeah, He's going to be great guys. These guys would have been talking about Hitler. During World War two. Well, he's not a bad guy. You know if he's coming, just Yo, if you treat these people a little, Yeah, These guys are losers and and for us to leave the Taliban in control. There is a disgrace. We'll talk about that later this week. Okay, look in the 18 forties, They drove the British out. Then they drove the Russians vote. Then they drove us out. Now. They're not doing what they what they want What we want them to do. Why? Because they won. What do you doing is in character? Of course it is. Yeah, yeah, religion. It's their culture. Er, Yeah, You can't say that. You know you can say it on this show, but you can't say that generally, because that's that offends the sensibilities of some people, Tom, you know what I'm saying? I do. But listen to people like Millie and the defense secretary invite. It's just so incredible in the N s sick could be played from a Gutierrez where his name is incredibly simple minded. "To cook a chicken. Tell the thing you have the cooks of chicken dies and then you can go out and buy something else. So I've been careful to not load up the kitchen with gadgets because good How long does it usually take to do a rotisserie? But what cooking a chicken? Yeah. Uh, God, I got to remember. I do have this. By the way. I still have the original cookbook that came with it. The two hour and a half, two hours And I'm not not even now in the rotisserie. Perfect. So tomorrow night. You can go to the broken a chick. Go get a chicken. Yeah. Join the fantasy league. Set your chicken up by the time by the time it's done, your fancy drive should be over. This is fantastic. I was thinking what I could do. If I was hosting the show tomorrow night. I could bring the rotisserie of it in And a chicken and by the time the first hours over We? We'd have rotisserie chicken, and we could share with the listeners What it's doing, You know, that would have been fun. Well, not really. Not really of Rob Brooks. Is it once in Rob, this is only if I do that. If you can call and talk Jordan out of doing the show tomorrow night, we can talk about chicken otherwise. At the pre made one is a supermarket anyway. Can we get back? Wait, We got sidetracked. Fantasy football. You are in a league. I'm in multiple You are in a league of your own true, you unders. No crying in fantasy football either. What's alright? What? What's your drug? Okay, so you're in multiple leagues. What's your draw to being in like all these leagues? Why not just one and done Well, I mean, there's different, different formats, different types. There's all different kind of things. So you know, there's there's your basic year to year ones that you get a new team Every every year. You re draft. There's dynasties where you keep this all the entire team next. The next the following year and so on, And you just dropped the rookies, and there's the keeper leagues where you might just take one or two guys very in depth. This very in depth. When I did the fantasy football 20 years ago or so, everything's 20 years ago, my rotisserie oven my fantasy leagues. When I used to be in the fantasies. It wasn't that complex. It was like Done, Boom. Here you go. Now, People do it also win. Now people do this for work. You got the daily fantasy stuff where people make thousands and thousands of dollars. Some of the experts so called experts and all that kind of stuff, the podcast and everything used to be a time when you just sit down and watch the football game. Shut it off at the end and go have dinner. Well, who does that? Well enough now, you now you've watched the game. Watch your fantasy team dinner all at the same time. Check your stats. Text. Your friend was in the fantasy league with you and make fun of them because they're teams doing terrible talk a little snack. I get it. All right. So football season is just about to start officially, The Patriots start on Sunday against the Dolphins. Mac Jones. You got Mac Jones on your team. I do not. I stay away from rookie quarterbacks. Mm. Bad. I don't know. Maybe not. That's one quarterback league, though, right? Yeah. See, I would I got to agree with you if I if I were in a fantasy league I don't want to give you my tips in case I end up in one well already drafted, so go ahead. I I would. If it was a two quarterback league I would take like a, you know, a season two player, but I love that Mac is like my back up for a second or, you know, put him in now. Especially now. You know, he's the starter, right? He's gonna look, He's gonna make mistakes, obviously, but he's also going to throw. He's the guy throwing the ball. He should every touchdown the Patriots get via the air is probably going to come off his arm. I would think so much unless you get the occasional Jacoby Meyers. I suppose Julian Edelman is not there anymore to throw touchdown passes, but I'm just saying so, so he's going to get your points, but I guess not as much, but you don't think Patriots are going to rely on him as heavily. The Patriots have a great Russian attack this year. The running backs look like they're going to be awesome and like it's one of the best position groups on the entire team, so I think they're gonna vulture. A lot of points had Cam Newton last year who had 12 touchdowns from like Inside the five rushing. You got to think those are all going to go to the running backs, for the most part that they're going to take someone, and I just don't Think that they're gonna You really utilized Mac and ferret out like crazy this year, but he stole a rookie start. A lot of there's gonna be some. There's going to be some bumps in the road. Alright, Well, listen, if you're excited about football, starting or if you're in a fantasy league, or you have a question for our resident expert fantasy footballer Dan Watkins. You can call us at 617254 10 30. What the heck right down to like the last 12 minutes of the show. I'm not going to be on again until after football season starts for sure. So this is a great time. Yes, absolutely. Talk some smack. Sure. How do you come up with a name for a team? Usually you do something generic. You know, like you do you do your name like Dan's? Well, that's like the default and just go like Dan's doughnuts or something. Dan's dazzling team is what, like Yahoo! Our ESPN will come and they love the alliteration to start. But then then afterwards you might get a player and you might, you know, kind of Name it after the play, even after the player. So if you had, uh, like Cam Newton Which would you name it? Well, there was like back in the day when he always did the Superman celebration. If you have something, Superman based candlelight plan, you know, then there's like, like some people would do like events will fork one like will fork in the road. That kind of thing. Oh, I see what they did their little pond. Whoever alright? If you want to talk fantasy football or not, you can call up in bashed and anything you want doing the news tonight He was everything. 617254 10 30 Counting down the moments here. "And that's gonna be, I guess. A pressure cooker, which will build up those thunderstorms. If the weather prognosticators are correct, and that would be a good thing would be a good thing for all of us. I think, uh, I've been watching a bird's nest. In my yard little tree really outside a kitchen windows, not a high tree can almost look at eye level at this burden. Bird's nest and Mama Bird has been flying back and forth feeding the baby birds and I'd love to know. I feel like I should go out there with some water. I don't know. I guess I guess they were able to survive Irrespective of what the weather forecasts are in what the weather reality actually turns out to be a good evening, Everyone welcome one in my name is Dan ran the host of night side. Every Monday through Friday night. Rob Brooks is in the control room back in the big Broadcast center. All set to accept your phone calls at 617254 10 30. Or 617929 10 30. And of course, the ladies line is a 617. 931 10 30 so well, we say those a few times during the night and we're going to talk tonight. About a couple of things later on. Apparently, the body administration has decided actually has instructed us consulates and embassies abroad that they are welcomed and actually encouraged to Blake to raise the black lives matter flag on this, the First anniversary Sad day of the murder of George Floyd in Minneapolis. Ah, year ago on this day to that, I think a year ago it was actually technically Memorial Day. So this is the date of the You know that horrific event which convulsed the nation and has led to a lot of conversations back and forth, But that is not. We're going to start off with. We're going to go back to where we were last night. During the last couple of hours we talked about In event that's going to be going on in a vault places. No. One Massachusetts Now I know no would very well have many friends in Norwood on and Think it is a wonderful a wonderful community, and it was pointed out to me. That at the Norwood library, it's called the Meriel Moral Memorial Library. It's the public library in Norwood. There will be a performance from the For the drag Queen Story hour. Now for those of you who are unfit millions with what the drag Queen story hour is, Uh, let me preface my remarks by saying that I am a very open minded person is matter of fact, you might even cause consider me to be a Quayside libertarian. Oh, there are a few things that kind of draw the line at. But for example, people who are drag queens and drag queens have a long history in this country and for Uh, I don't have a problem. If some guy and what it is, it's guys who like to dress garishly dressed up garishly is women. Um, I Not particularly my thing. But look if some guy wants to plaster himself with Ah lot of garish makeup And you know, eyeliner and lipstick and rouge and a wig and some garish clothes and stiletto high heels and France around in the privacy of his own home or, for that matter of Prince around in the privacy of other people's homes, or, for that matter, go to clubs on if there are clubs in Boston, and there probably are somewhere On dad in Prince around with other folks who enjoy that, or go and watch, drag Queen entertainment or, for that matter if you want a prince down the middle of Boylston Street on Newbury Street doesn't bother me. Doesn't bother me at all I've seen I've seen everything I think I could possibly see in public. I don't problem with it. I don't have a problem with it. But Look When all of a sudden any group that is pushing an agenda, be it a social agenda or a political agenda on they decide to Basically push that agenda at libraries to kids to audiences that are designed to be 3 to 7. Years old. Uh, I think you've gone over the edge. At least you're gone over the edge is far as I'm concerned. Now, maybe some of you feel it's absolutely totally appropriate. This man. In fact, I had a Interesting e mail today from one person. I will keep their name out of it, too. To protect the innocent. Well, 11 person is very concerned that we're talking about drag queens and not talking about that. Right wing nutjob Marjorie Taylor Greene, who I think is irrelevant to most things, but we'll leave that aside on then, as they said, we had this. I had this email earlier today. From a listener. I'm glad the person listened. I assume, dear Mr Ray, So I assume that you've actually attended a drag Queen story hour. And that's why you recently should your opinions with your listeners know That's not very good reporting. That is a damn Well, first of all, I'm not a reporter. At this point, I get to express my opinions, sir. Thousands of parents and Children have enjoyed the various drag queen story our events held across the country over the years, and by the way, he is absolutely correct on that all of these drag queen story hours have been it Xan effort. Concerted effort across the country to introduce a young kids again between the ages of three and seven years old in in library settings and It's Zoe. According to my correspondent here, it's highly entertaining and harmless laughter and learning. What's wrong with that? It's a parent's choice to make educational decisions for their Children. People should knock it until they've tried. It sounds to me like this guy might have tried it, which is fine with me. Good for you, sir. However, if the description of the event doesn't sound like your cortical cup of tea, then don't attend. End of story. Would you like a reply? He said Yes. So I, of course, said him a reply as I am apt to do particularly with folks who want to send me letters which are challenging, which is fine emails. I simply responded with his first name, which I want One man should call my show tonight. We're probably revisiting that story tonight. You are correct. I've never attended a drag squeak Great Queen story hour, but I know all about them and what they're trying to accomplish. Feel free to call me at the number below If you like to talk off here, the on air number remains 617 to 5 for 10 30. No, I don't know if this gentleman will summon the courage to call tonight. That's his decision. Okay, um, as it as it's your decisions, but I got to tell you Um, I didn't have to go to a Ku Klux Klan rally in the 18 seventies to understand what that organization was all about. Any more than I needed to attend. Um, a lady's fidelity meeting at the local Catholic church in the 19 fifties to know what that group was about. I don't have to go to a drag Queen story hour. I've seen the videos on TV pal. So I get it. And I also get that this an agenda And as they said last night, and I will say again if we're going to allow drag queens story hour. In the public library on I think a lot of parents Don't know what they're subjecting their kids to their dropping him off at the library. Maybe, and figure. Well, they're safe at the library for an hour in the afternoon. Um, maybe we should have, um I don't know. Uh, Second Amendment story Hour where Men or women from the National Rifle Association could show up and read stories to Children about guns. I mean, where do you draw the line? Huh? Drag Queen story hour. To me. It's ridiculous and it is also it is is very subtle effort that is being done probably being done in your community as well. Last.

"Is that all about? It's David Robinson back with the Spurs. Sure. Let me tell you. What? What a blow up that as well. The Celtics will snap back. I'm sure. Good evening, everybody. Welcome on in. I am Dan rate my end the aforementioned host of night side here in WBC news radio here every Monday through Friday night. I think this Rob Brooks, the producer of the show brought this is my 83rd consecutive show since the first couple days of January, so we have been you know, we've been we've been knocking it out here and and having a good time along the way and I want to thank all the callers and all the listeners who participate in the program. And tonight we have a very eclectic program for you tonight. It's a little different tonight. You got a little bit of politics. You got some medical advice coming up. You got some educational information, and we have a little bit of fun. Let me tell you we're going to talk about first off this hour. The attorney general to come of the Massachusetts Maura Healey. Eyes, suggesting that certain public employees and Massachusetts should be mandated. Be mandated. Take a coronavirus shot. Well, I love to know what you think about that I'll amplify on that in just a moment coming up at nine o'clock. I don't know if any of you realize this or not, but America has a huge Crisis and I'm not just talking about the border. We also have a shortage of physicians by 2033. The United States of America is going to need upwards of 55,000 additional primary care doctors just to meet Patient demand, according to the Association of American Medical Colleges. However, we don't have enough seats in medical schools to fulfill that need and we're going to be talking with very interesting gentleman. His name is G. Richard Olds. He's a doctor. He's also the president of ST George's University. Which is the largest medical school in the world. That U. S residents attend outside the continental United States. So if you're thinking about medical school or if you and you don't have to be 23 to go to medical school folks. I mean, it's you could have late vocations in your life. You may want to Contact and and call and listen to Dr G Richard Olds in the nine o'clock hour. I think you're gonna find it very interesting. And for those of us who understand that at some point, everybody needs medical care. I don't care how healthy you are. Even someone like Tom Brady, who never seems to even break a fingernail E. Everybody needs medical care, and we don't want to find ourselves in a situation of being a third World country, So that's how small effort tonight at nine And coming up a 10. I want to make sure you stay healthy this summer, So we are having back for his annual visit tonight Side. The immortal Tic man. Damn! This is the guy that knows everything You need to know about ticks where they are, how they get you how to avoid ticks. Look this summer, All of us are going to be outdoor crazy. You know that as well as I do that after the last What 14 months we all to some degree or another? Ah, suffering from cabin fever. It's a simple is that it's a simple is that and when that weather turns and when the calendar turns about four hours from now, by the way, So the merry month of May. Many of us are going to really feel free. And we're gonna want to get out. And you know who's going to be out there waiting for you. That ticks tick, man. Dan will tell you how to avoid the ticks and take me and then has a device. Which will allow you to Get the tick. The whole tick and nothing but the tick out of your skin. Once it borrows its way in cheap I'm almost a little poetic and then coming up Head at the 20th hour tonight, and this should be fun. I hope it's fun. I don't know if you saw the story this week, but there was a high school student ah couple of years ago who went on a viral and obscene laced viable rant. Because she did not make the varsity cheerleading squad. She was off campus. Not only high school grounds on she put up one of these postings that was supposed to disappear within 24 hours. Sometimes, Davies posting put him up. They disappear within six seconds. My daughter would show me something. I'll look at this and say, Oh, yeah, Next thing it's gone. Gone, and I'm not sure if this was Tic Tac or whatever it was so many of them. It's a little confusing, however. She basically let the school and the cheerleading program and the administration have it with both barrels. Well, the school took some action. And now you know this. The case was argued this week before the United States Supreme Court and we're going not to talk about that case, although we certainly will use it as a structure for the 11 o'clock news. But the 11 o'clock hour what I want to know in tonight's 20th hour, which is always the last are the week in which we try to have a little bit of fun going into the weekend. After all the tough conversations of the week. I want to know. Going in the 11 11 o'clock hour tonight, the 20th our what was the craziest the nuttiest the dumbest thing you ever did in high school Now I want to make sure you don't implicate other people. We want names need to be changed to protect the innocent. All better yet, no names at all. You could tell me the story about my buddies in me on my gal pals and me or whatever. I might be able to Come up with a couple that I'm not particularly proud off. But I want to hear your again They could be crazy. They could be just plumb crazy, but they could be dumb. So that's what I'm talking about. Okay, let's talk about Maura Healey. I happen now. I know some of you are going to disagree with me on this, but that's okay. Bring it on, uh, Theater T general of Massachusetts. More healing. This is our subject for the for the eight o'clock hour. So if you want to get in on this one get in early, because if not, you will be a five minutes and nine and you'll be getting 20 seconds. Maura Healey believes that there should be mandatory coronavirus vaccinations for many public employees, particularly those who interface with the public. In the Boston Herald. Just was on Wednesday. There was an interesting article in which she says that she wants mandatory Corona virus vaccines for most public employees. Now look, there's a lot of members of the U. S military who have refused to take the vaccine. I think you've read those stories. Uh, Maura Healey had already come out, uh, from mandatory vaccine for police and correctional officers. And now she's saying that pretty much any public employee who interacts with the public, she's quoted as saying. Look, you're there. You're getting paid by the taxpayer, you haven't obligation. Whether it's delivering public health of public safety. You're interacting with the public. That's a part of your job by definition. She's quoted in the Herald for an appearance of another Boston radio station..

"Emily and Princeton is back. So let's get Emily. Emily. You might have pressed the wrong button. How are you? Welcome back. I'm on the backside of like, use a mountain and it's not. Most memorable stories in Princeton. There was a baby bear. His name was Bruno the bear. I mean, I don't know if, like six months old or something. On. I guess they found him somewhere in Princeton on. I assumed they eventually put him to his sent into a zoo. I got a chance to do the story on Bruno the beer in Prince and you could look it up if there is him. Long time Prince. My boyfriend's from Princeton, and he's a You've been here a long time. I will ask him. He was Bruno the beers and is the late seventies And I remember holding that little thing on He was cute and everything. But if I you know, I knew that, like six months later, I wouldn't want to go near him. But God, he was cute. I remember Bruno the beer, Steve. See if he remembers, okay. I definitely will. Yeah, I'll let you know I would appreciate that. Thanks, Emily. If he remembers you got to give him an extra hug. Okay, Thanks. Thanks. Heavily. Where are you from? If you didn't grow up in Princeton, where are you from? If I could ask I grew up in westward. Oh, well, that's I mean, that's that's another universe from Princeton. That's not that far. "Just not at Logan Airport Point. We'll deal with the weather. My name's Dan Ray, host of night side here every Monday through Friday night from eight until midnight. Rob Brooks, the producer of the program is back at the control Broadcast house. He's in the control room, and he'll set your phone calls up and we're gonna Talked this first hour with J. D S attorney, J. Diaz. He's a senior staff attorney and lead on a very interesting case on behalf of the American Civil Liberties Union of Vermont. As I understand the chair. You're a graduate of Boston College law school. That's right. It's nice to be on with Boston College alone. Yeah, well, I'm not a Boston call. I'm a Boston University law school alum. So It's Ah, I thought you were a you went. Where you an eagle? No, I wasn't an eagle I I was. I went to Boston State College and then to Boston University Law School and And doing a little bit of broadcasting from micro. You're Boston guy originally. And are you a Vermonter? I'm I won't say where I'm from because it's you know, not a place that Bostonians usually prefer, But I'm guessing it for New York Boy E did really enjoyed my time and, uh, In in Boston. So you're a Mets fan or a Yankees fan? I'm not a fan. Be worried there Enough. Okay, Fair enough. We'll let we'll we'll let that one slide, Okay? A saw this story over the weekend and sort of an interesting case. Um, why don't you brief it for us? Tell us of of read the stories in the newspapers, but but let's break it down. Where are we? In this case And what? What sort of right So we asserting and protecting? Sure. So. Last week we filed on behalf of our client, Greg Bomb bird. Ah, lawsuit in Vermont Court, and the case is basically about Mr Bomb, But a few years back was stopped by a Vermont state trooper. You know, he was doing nothing minding his own business, Just driving down the road and ST Albans, the northwest corner of Vermont on and he was stopped. And when the officer came up, he too, Mr. Bomber. He came a very angrily confrontational. On and accused Mr Bomb Bird of giving in the middle finger. Refer to that will of the flashing the bird. How's that? Well, we'll make it was still sort of on on family radio here. So this this happened in 2000 and 18. That's right. Very nice day was in the middle of the summer. It sounded like right. It was a winter's day. It was a cool day and middle of the day, Mr Bamberger had, uh you know, I was just on the way back from Dunkin Donuts and, uh, you know, he was accused of flipping the bird and so the the office. So so the officer thought That Mr Bombard gestured at him rudely. We call that when that happens to me on the road, I I've always believed that the person is telling me I'm number one Exactly. You know what I'm saying? I do. You want to take it? So the police officer thought he saw something. He's upset. He goes up to your client. He's angry, Uh and they have a conversation, right? That's right. Hey was you know it was more of an interrogation, to be honest, Okay. Mr Robert was not was not happy with it, Um, and then expresses displeasure with it after the fact and that's where things really got rolling. And what the case is about is is basically basic level. It was sliding over this so S O s. So there's no charge so that the initial will call it a confrontation. Whatever you wanna call it, Um, Nothing comes out of that other than They talk. He's not issued any thing right? He's free to go on his own way, right? That's right. Okay, so then What happened was there was a gesture made and in the second instance Gesture was made. He was unhappy with the way the trooper had treated him on the way. He was spoken to the fact that he was stopped in the middle of the day for no apparent reason. And he made his displeasure known with A gesture that is common common knowledge to all And this is when was he telling? Was he in effect, actually telling the officer that it was number one? He sure was. So he flashed so he didn't so he didn't flash the bird initially. But once he finished the conversation, your client acknowledges that he flashed the bird. Yes. Okay, Then. What happened? Acknowledges that you know he didn't do it. And you know, it's funny because he's a person who respects law enforcement. He's not political. And anyway, um he's someone who's just going about his business. Having a day and reacted to the the way he was being spoken to is the real heat of the moment kind of thing. How old's Mr Bombard if I could ask He's in his fifties, so he's an adult. He's well into his adulthood. Um, what sort of work does he do? He's a working guy. You know, he works in a big box store. Never never been in trouble. As far as we know. No, he's been, you know, he's been on the straight and narrow and just been a hardworking guy helps take care of his parents. He's born and raised ST Albans, Vermont, You know it. Salt of the earth kind of person so straight out straight out of this entire life up until this unfortunate Situation with this, sergeant Riggen, right? That's right. Okay, so once once he flashes, he tells such it regulates number one. Sergeant Regan, I guess was offended by that. And what happened next? What do you guess? Right? Uh, tuba. Reagan decided immediately and there's video of the encounter that we have, and you know, immediately to bring and decided he was going to arrest him for disorderly conduct. Oregon Said things such as you know. The there were people driving past. And so if it was profanity in public, and so he devised a plan and pulled Bomberg over practically did Mr Bombo say something as well, Or did he just simply gesture? He did yell a couple of choice words at the window as eyes. The trooper was walking. You couldn't you couldn't tell us what the first letters of those choice words work, could you? I'm sure they could be guessed. You know any of the other and F But I mean the broader point. What's that? One was with the letter A OK? I think I got that one. And the Lexx one you said was the letter. S or F Yeah. Half assed like the sixth letter of the alphabet A B C D e F After than Frank Frank. Okay, good up. I wasn't I honest to.

We have a lot to talk about tonight. We are going to talk with just a moment with Greg Sullivan, Hey, is the research director for the Pioneer Institute very interesting study that they have presented us with this week that talks about the outflow. The outflow of money from Massachusetts in terms of tax dollars people heading to Florida and states like Florida and New Hampshire. For all the obvious reasons, we'll get to that in a moment if you'd like to get on board, Of course, you know, the number I got to do is call that 617254 10 30 triple 8929 10 30, Rob Brooks. Who is on duty tonight will pick up the phone and get you in line to talk with Greg Sullivan about maybe whether or not you're deciding or thinking about leaving the Commonwealth of Massachusetts for Well, Warrick climb Or maybe a more tax felt like climate. We will talk with Harvey Silverglade. Uh, an extraordinary attorney out of Cambridge, Massachusetts. Am I would say one of the last genuine liberals in America. Hey, does not like Donald Trump in any way, shape or form but feels the Democrats are Absolutely wrong and trying to convict him in the Senate to impeach him for a second time, and perhaps even worse yet to try to prevent him from running for office, although Harvey Silverglate under no circumstances would ever Ever support Donald Trump, and we will talk about the arrogance Governor Andrew Cuomo later on this evening. This is a politician point. There's a lot of politicians in America that you could call arrogant, but I think Andrew Cuomo was right up there. He leaves the league first off. We welcome Greg Sullivan back two nights. I, Greg, where we're broadcasting remotely. Don't get a chance to shake hands with you tonight, but I get a chance to welcome you back. How are you tonight? Thank you. Tenet's just really a great pleasure to be on your show. Well, Greg and I go back a long ways I remember when he was in the state Legislature many years ago, he was a Democrat. From Norwood. If I recall correctly, you probably had a little bit more than Norwood as well. What did you have other communities? Besides Norwood? Lord in Westwood. Norwood and Westwood. OK, those were the days so you were in the in the Legislature. I'll take a guess. 1986 to 96 something like that In my close. Really good. Guess I was actually in there from 1975 to 19. 92. "Night before the cold edition of Night Side. We had the snow last night. Hope you got outside today and may be tried a little bit of shoveling. I know I did and I'm sore. Because we haven't shoveled too much snow this winter. But I do know this. It's the sort of sourness that when you go to sleep tonight, when I go to sleep tonight, I will sleep like Iraq and I will wake up great tomorrow. It's you know you its muscles you haven't used. My name is Dan Ray. I'm the host of nightside. Rob Brooks is back in the control room. And we will get to the program forthwith. Also, Rob is an assistant in there. A new WBC producer Evan, So, Evan from Salem, Massachusetts, is learning the ropes tonight he couldn't learn the roast better. From anyone than been robbed, Brooke soap. We, um We're going to talk about it first hour about a problem that's going on in Weymouth. I'm going to get to that. Just in a moment, coming up a nine o'clock we're going to talk about an 18 year old teenager in Texas. Who turned his dad into the FBI. Because his dad was a member of the group that overran the capital during the January 6 seas will get all of that the question of kids turning in their parents believable. Um, yeah, if you know again, but we'll have to look at that, and we'll see what people think. But it certainly is a I think a sign of the times and then we're gonna look at what President Biden has been doing for the last few days with his, uh This executive orders. But whether or not those executive orders Not going to push us toward national unity or towards national disunity, but first First Weymouth High School in Weymouth, Massachusetts, a city a little south of Boston. For those of you who do not know the geography there. A couple of years ago, there was a police officer Sergeant Michael Chestnut. Who was shot in the line of duty. It was a Sunday morning. I think it was he may he came upon an individual who I think was dealing with some serious Mental issues and Sergeant chestnut on a, you know, very spring. Beautiful spring Sunday morning, try to deal with this individual. The individual assaulted him with a rock. Um, basically, I guess either days or not. Start your chest out and then took his service revolver and basically executed women Police Sergeant Michael Chester and then shot and killed a woman who was merely out on her. Porch, reading The Sunday newspaper again, the that that's the background to the story well as a result The thin blue line flag. I think most of you know what a thin blue line flag is as an American flag, which has as for one of the stripes, a thin blue line. To represent support for police departments. There's also a thin red line flag that supports fire departments will down in Weymouth. Barely. Some students were uncomfortable with this thin blue line flag, and they reported as saying that they feel overwhelming discussed overwhelming anger and frustration. The fact that this is everywhere in our school, their teachers and nurses with masks on the flag and teachers, classrooms with the fag and most with the flag and most notably. Away with high school football team runs out every game with a gigantic flag. This was one of the students who was upset by the flag. The student went on to say that the students of color feel upset, uncomfortable and threatened by displays of police flags. Well, they started an online petition on as it turned out. Another group of students started an online petition in support of the flag, and we're delighted to be joined tonight by Ryan. Lindblom Bloom Ryan Limb Bloom is a junior at Weymouth High School, and he and his supporters, fellow supporters of the Thin blue line flag have garnered over 8000 signatures at this point, and like toe Welcome, Ryan to the show tonight, Side, Ryan. Welcome to night side. How are you tonight? I'm good. How are you? I'm doing fine. So I tried to set the story up a little bit. Um, anything that that I reported that was inaccurate in terms of setting the story up, If if it was you feel free to correct it, okay? No, it's all it's all right. Okay, great enough. We did invite, um I think one or both of the students who were mentioned in this article on the other side. The issue. Right. But what what's going on at Weymouth High School here you've you folks have generated a lot of support. I want to give my audience a way in which they consign this petition to help you out before we finish up. But what's the atmosphere like a the school these days? Obviously, I assume classes is still being done remotely are their kids. There's some kids who were having classes in school at Weymouth High School. Yeah, There's two cohorts and split. So you go two days a week. This is into and out of school. Okay, So why is this popped up? Now? I think that the whole Um, sin Blue line flag controversy of of Hingham was sometime last summer. What? What? Prompted this to, um to come up, you know, after I guess it came up after the new year 2021. What? Anything that you know that that precipitated this. I don't think I think it's just the modern day world right now where they're evidence, so they all wanted to come..

"Here on Monday night and right along with Rob Brooks and Rob, we're going to Deal this hour into all of you. We're going to deal with this hour with the questions and the issues dealing with Um The impeachment, the second impeachment of Donald Trump. And as I think all of you know, tonight the article of Impeachment was hand carried very dramatically very dramatically right at the end of the 7 P.m. news perfectly timed by the House managers. They were not going to interrupt. The network nightly news broadcasts from 6 30 to 7 East Coast time. On and it was treated. By least CBS that I watched as Just a monumental experience. Thea article of impeachment. Uh it is the under the US Constitution. The trial. Of a president. As it was presided over a year ago by Chief Justice John Roberts will not be Presided over by Chief Justice John Roberts and the At least I watched it on CBS. There was Remarkable, um Lack of interest as to why John Roberts should not be there. Article two section forces the president, the vice president and all civil officers of the United States shall be removed from office on impeachment, foreign conviction of treason, bribery or other high crimes and misdemeanors. Killed will keep their shall be removed from office. First question is. How do you remove someone office? Someone from office was already left office. That's middle. That's that's gonna be a a question. The question of the constitutionality of what the What Nancy Pelosi at all are doing so the article of impeachment Some article there's just one article. Um, uh, incitement of insurrection. Um, And the thing was Congressman Raskin. Also, by the way, you're good. You're good to know Constant Rask and I believe is the Democrat from Virginia. Eric Swalwell, the Democrat from China. He's the Democratic member of Congress, who was apparently Uh, Today. Special relationship. Let's put it like that with with a known Chinese spy. But again, he's only on the intelligence committee. He thought it was his. I guess this is where I could good looks on his charm. But whatever. Maybe maybe it was. Maybe it was his rugged good looks and his charm on his If you believe that, anyway, um The trial will not be presided over by the Supreme by the chief justice of the U. S. Supreme Court Gonna be presided over by Senator Patrick Leahy. He's the senior Senator from Vermont. I guess he's technically titled The President Pro TEM, and I believe I could be wrong here. I believe that Patrick Leahy is three longest serving At this time at this moment in time, the longest serving United States, Senator, um As you know, there are two senators from whom from Vermont. Patrick Leahy, who's a Democrat. And Bernie Sanders, who is a socialist, um, but plays the role of the Democrat Um in the United States Senate now, Pat Leahy. Eyes, eh? Let me illegal back here and get that for us who, you know he's been in the Senate for a long time. He was first elected to the Senate. Um 1975 and he did serve as the President Pro TEM from 2012 to 2015. He is 80. He's one of the younger members of the Uh, Theo U S senate, he's eighties. Anyway, he will be presiding now kind of in a tough spot because the center They're the jurors in the case. So he will be judge and jury he will not serve the role of judge, jury and prosecutor just merely judge and jury. To make it fear and the argument is the art. The incitement of of insurrection basically accuses Donald Trump of inciting violence against the government of the United States. Pursuant to article 12 of the Constitution, Um That he read. It reiterated false claims encouraged people if you know they quoted him, You know if you don't fight like hell, and on Ben, it was his direction. They believe that the The the, uh who's the hooligans who went and went into the into the into the capital. Um, and by the way, many of them are saying he was the president. I mean, if I was Representing one of them. I'd be saying the exact same thing that the devil made me do it. If you can't say the devil made me do it. Then the president made me do it. But anyway, um so The whole question that we're dealing with here is Um, what's the purpose? Uh And I frankly don't know. Um One of the CBS News experts tonight. Professor Jeffrey Rubin was asked if this is a constitutional proceeding. And he answered very honestly and CBS news, he said. Doesn't know if it's constitutional. You need two thirds vote in the U. S. Senate. And the numbers of such that the Republicans have 50. The Democrats have 50. So you need 17 Republicans. 16. If you know a county Mitt Romney on then the second vote would be to disqualify Donald Trump from ever holding office again. I think he's disqualified himself, but, you know You can disagree with me on that. So the question is real simple. Why we doing this? Is it just The visceral dislike, which is perfectly understandable that the Democrats have to Donald Trump. I mean, You know, they had to put up with him for four years. But now does that justify this procedure? Which, arguably I think you could make the argument is moot. OK, because the purpose of the Article two section for the U. S Constitution of a president, vice president of civil officer being removed from office on impeachment for in conviction off treason, bribery or other high crimes and misdemeanors. You're trying somebody For a sentence that cannot be imposed. Now, there might be some Republicans who don't want Donald Trump to run in 2024. I mean, I would assume maybe people like Ted Cruz I don't know. Um, and then there would be some Democrats. Maybe you don't want to run because they think I think that his political viability is way overrated at this point. But it's more important than of question of political liability. The question in my opinion is fairness, fairness and I do not believe in my opinion. Um, that it is fair. To attempt to convict someone and and to remove him from office when they've left office. It's a simple is that there is a case which I'm very familiar with that dates back to 18 77, and we can talk about that if you like. That seems to me what they're they're doing this on. What? They're hanging this on Actually, this is the case if it goes back to 18 76, former Secretary of War William Belt nap, Theo. Only other official who upon Having left office. He was tried and he was acquitted. By the way on down. His case is a little different from Trump's and that he resigned from office. Similar to what Richard Nixon did in 1974. So we're going to just open up the phone lines and I'd love to hear from Democrats. Why is this being done? Is it necessary? Or is it simply revenge? Which it which it You might think it is, Or is it revenge of justice? I guess we'll phrase the question that way. Is it political revenge? Or is it justice? Let's keep it at that level today. By the way, the U. S. Supreme Court apparently decided that many of the cases that have been brought to Brought against President President Trump for the so called emoluments clause to remember all of the academics who we're talking about the emoluments clause and that he had a hotel in Washington, and he was benefiting from his position and therefore he was In violation of the emoluments clause. Well, today, the court through all of those cases out, said those cases of mood guess why? Because he's no longer president. So they can potentially Try to convict him trying in the Senate. Um While he's left office. The cases against him for the Emolument clause removed, But this isn't mood. I don't know. I don't get it, Um, feel free. Let's let's have at it. 617254 10 30 Triple 89 to 1930 Political revenge or justice. I'm going to impanel a jury here tonight on Nightside you be the judge is on this one. "You very much, Tina. Go Pena gals handling the newsroom duties tonight, along with On half and my name is Dan, right? And it is indeed a new day. Well, it's a new night. I guess was a new day in America today. We now have President Joe Biden and former president Donald Trump. So we have to get used to that. It's sort of like the end of the year. When you go from December to January. You keep writing in your checkbook January 3rd, but you keep using the date from last year, so we gotta get used to President Joe Biden. And president, former president Donald Trump just have to. I know I'll slip up. I suspect some of you might slip up, but it'll take a few days but will be its president Joe Biden. President Biden has been president over Babe, about eight hours and 15 minutes. Ah lot of activity today, including signing about 17 executive orders we're going to get to All of that. But it is a new day and a new night in American. That's where to talk about tonight mean it is thesaurus of the day the inauguration of the 46th, president of the United States, Joe Biden. Now Some things don't change. Even on inaugural day. My name's Dan Ray. I'm still the host of night side in Rob Brooks is the producer Rob Brooks is in the control room. And he is all set to get you going here if you'd like to comment in any way, shape or form. First of all, There was a lot of good news today. There were no riots anywhere as far as I could tell. I watched all the newscast throughout the day. Things were quiet in Washington, thankfully. There were no riots in Boston. I just heard Karen Regal's report. I guess they were a small group of people. Didn't sound like any of them were upset with what was going on in Washington today. They were out there, she said. There was some anarchists and there was some other type people, but no no riots. No riots anywhere. New York City Quiet Los Angeles Quiet. So maybe we event it into a new era. Of but sort of Ah, the dawning of a new age where there will be no riots and everything will be Peaceful. Wouldn't that be lovely? Um, we have several sound bites if you missed The President President Joe Biden's inaugural speech today. Um, I thought it was pretty good. I don't think it's one that's gonna go down in the history books. I don't think there was much soaring language. Um, It was exactly what you would expect. I think from Joe Biden. What about 20 minutes? Which is pretty reasonable figure. I mean, again. He didn't have a crowd there. Good entertainment Lady Gaga. Lady Gaga did a great rendition. I'm not a real fan of Lady gaga. She's kind of she was after me. I'm still kind of hanging out with the beach boys and things like music like that, But she did a great job of the national Hey, we're just to get people in the mood here so patriotic night. Let's start it off with cut 41. This is Lady Gaga at the end of the national anthem. She did a great job. Would you love to be able to hold a note like that? Good field? She did a nice job. I mean, it was It was a little bit of a tradition, but it stayed pretty true. Um, Jennifer Lopez did this whole thing which I was in and out of, and I couldn't quite follow it. But I did follow Lady Gaga now, Joe Biden. Joe Biden essentially made an appeal today. For everyone. Everyone in America, uh, to get on the same page. Let's go to cut 49. This is President Joe Biden In his inaugural speech today, a couple cuts from The current president today. On this January day, my whole soul is in this bringing America together, uniting our people united in our nation. I ask every American had joined me in this cause. I think the best line in the speech. This is just me. Um, where he basically ask people to give him almost give me a chance. This is cut 56. I actually liked this line cut 56 President Joe Biden today to all those who do not support us. Let me say this. Here me out As you move forward. Take.

"Playing the New Jersey Devils opening up there Season tonight, first period just wrapping up in there up one zip. And when it comes to Wall Street today, not the best to ride across the board. Really The Dow Jones losing 69 points NASDAQ Down 16.5 in the S and P 500 today, shedding just about 14.5. All right, 807. It's time for night side. Stick around. I'm Nicole Davis WBZ Boston's news radio. It's night side with Dan Ray until you BZ Boston's news radio. Thank you very much too Cool. Davis. It's Thursday night. Where did this rain come from? Everybody said it was gonna be a nice day, and then Friday was going to start to cloud up. It was gonna rain on Saturday. I don't know. Sometimes these weather guys nail it the guys and gals nailing then sometimes they miss a little bit Well, whatever it's it's pouring out there now from what I can from what I can here Good evening, everybody. Welcome on in. This is a Thursday night edition of Night Side. My name is Daniel. I am the host of the program. By the way, those of you who are interested we do a little thing every afternoon at 4 30 on Facebook. We call it nightside pregame when myself for Morita, also known as lightning, one of the producers of this program. We sit at Facebook WBC nightside with Dan, right, and we'll tell you what's coming up tonight on the show. We do a little back and forth about 10 Minutes is kind of fun. Feel free to join us there any night. Any afternoon. I should say 4 30 East Coast time. Particularly if you're listening. You like to say one of those people look like Morita and again. Also a k a lightning. A lot of the producers have more than one. Name it something about being a producer Rob Brooks only has one name, and Rob Brooks, of course, is back in the control room tonight, setting up What we're gonna be doing first. Our good take a little bit of a break. We're gonna be doing a lot of national politics some national politics later on tonight, but first our want to talk about what's going on with the vaccine with Corona virus vaccine here in Massachusetts, Get to that in a moment. Then, at nine o'clock tonight, a very interesting guest. Someone who I think will be of really is clear. He's going to talk about social media. His name is sin on around. He's the director of the MIT initiative on the digital economy. He has written a book that came out a couple of months ago called the Hype Machine. How Social Media disrupts our elections, our economy and our health and how we must adapt so we will talk with him during the nine o'clock hour. The whole question. Obviously, about The decisions that Twitter and Facebook and all all of these social media companies are making not only towards President Trump but also about Competitive companies include including parlor. We'll get into all of that You get into the whole conversation about whether or not Congress and there are people on both the left and the right in Washington in the Senate. That would like to remove the they called the section 2 30 protections for Social media, meaning social media. They were supposed to be simply platforms on and because they were platforms and people could post on those platforms they were given. Some protections by Congress, which now some people feel they are abusing or they are. They're going beyond what the concept of platforms and they're becoming. Publishers will explain all of that. 10 o'clock tonight, We'll be talking with John Solomon. John is an investigative reporter out of Washington. D C. Works for the hill. Hey, is filed a very interesting Freedom of Information Act request. With the what they call the Metropolitan Police Department, the D. C Metropolitan Police Department. So it's the MPD in Washington, D C. To get some information on who knew what? When in advance with riot of last week, January 6th, so I think he'll he'll have some interesting things to say about that. And what Nancy Pelosi and Mitch McConnell Might have been made aware of. Let's we'll wait to hear for him Toe tell us that story. But I want to start off very quickly very quickly, and we're going to go to break real quickly because I think it's a pretty simple question. Here. We are in Massachusetts. If you read the It was the Globe today a piece by Robert Weissman and Kate Lazar. Talked about Massachusetts ranking 25th. Right in the middle of the 50 states, and I think there are only 50 states. I don't think that just to Colombia has been admitted as yet, But as of this moment, there's still only 50 states. Massachusetts ranks 25th amongst all of the states. In per capita vaccinations. Now we are, I think. The medical capital of America. Someone are you with the medical capital of the world. People come from all over the world to receive advanced medical treatment and somehow, some way We are behind the state of New York it every other New England state, so it's got nothing to do with weather. The weather has been really very cooperative this winter. To be honest with you. On Lee about I guess 223,000. Approximately vaccine doses have been administered here in Massachusetts now in other states around the country. They're blowing our doors off. So the question is, um, Have we overthought it here in Massachusetts? By the way, the governor yesterday announced pretty clearly who's going to get and who's not going to get right off the bat. Shots, vaccinations. And, of course, once you get the first vaccine against, depending on whether it's moderna or or any of the vaccines, and some of them are are, too I guess Johnson and Johnson is going to be a one dose vaccine, but that's not available until March. But the vaccines that are now available to doses so you've got to get one. And then that first shot As I guess the members of Congress have found out takes a few days for efficacy, toe begin toe take hold, and then, within a period of like, three or four weeks, you got to get the second shot. I have wasted the first shot. So my question is gonna be really simple. Do you feel weird doing a bang up job here in Massachusetts getting people vaccinated and we'll talk about who's getting vaccinated and who's not getting vaccinated. The CDC says anyone over the age of 65 Should be able to get vaccinated. That's not the case here in Massachusetts, the people over the age of 65. They won't be vaccinated till sometime in February. You're over 75 in Massachusetts. You're okay. But if you 74 a half you're not okay. But if you're in prison, you're going to be taken care of. So we're going to talk to about all of that. In this first hour 617 to 5 for 10 30 Triple 8929 10 30. You would think that we would have been better prepared and that we would be leading the nation in terms of vaccinations. Quite the contrary. We're just in the middle of the pack stuck in the middle again. Nightside returns Give us a call Ladies line is open. 617931 10 30. If you've already got your vaccination, won't you tell us? How Andre How onerous was it? I know in other states around the country supermarkets pharmacies are are giving doing vaccinations. There's some others ideas here in Massachusetts. I think it was in the also in the in the globe today. Delta Dental says Hey, yet we have 5000 dentists around the state. You They know how to give shots when you get Nova. Kate, I think they should give vaccinations. My name's Dan. Right. This is 8 15. It is a Thursday ready Thursday night in Boston. We will keep you warm and comfortable. And I hope you are woman.

"Good history. Bad history will, however you want to look at it that your opportunity tonight. My name is Dan Ray. This is Wednesday night. Boy, it seems like in one way, it seems like the week is going quickly in another way. It seems like it's dragging, but it's Wednesday night. We are Lucky January, 13th and today history was made in Washington because Donald Trump became the first president in the history of the United States to be impeached twice by two different Congress is both different. Both Democratic Congress is no doubt But different Congresses and so we're going to do tonight is basically open it up and give you an opportunity to respond. You heard a lot of the comments made today. By the various of politicians, Republicans and Democrats in Washington just to give you a little sense of it. I know some of you do work for a living. On it started off with the house. By the way, I'm Dan right, the host of the show and Rob Brooks, his Getting back there getting all set for your your phone calls. Which has? Of course 617254 10 32 quick, You jump on the quicker we'll get going. But before we do that, just a little taste of it today. For those of you who didn't have a chance to watch much. We're going to start off Rob, if you will with that. I know you're busy with phone calls, so I apologize, Rob, but We're going to start off with the house speaker. Um she was the house speaker for both of the impeachment. So her name is in history books now, Nancy Pelosi, Um Basically tonight signed the impeachment resolution and has sent it on to the Senate. This is Nancy Pelosi Cut 12 Rub. And I stand here before you Today is a noble list of things. A citizen of the United States of America. With my voice and my vote with a Plato, All of you, Democrats and Republicans. I asked you to search your souls. And answer these questions. Is the president's war on democracy in keeping with the Constitution. Were his words and insect insurrectionary mob a high crime and misdemeanor. Do we not have the duty to our oath to do all we constitutionally can to protect our nation? And our democracy from the appetite and ambitions off a man who are self evident, Lee demonstrated that he is a vital threat to liberty to self government and to the rule of law. Now the Republicans, on the other hand, um we're basically quarterbacked by Congressman Jim Jordan of Ohio on and this was one of the statements that he made basic. I believe this is is his opening statement. Cut number 14, please rob 19 minutes. 19 minutes four years ago on Inauguration Day, January 20th 2017 19 minutes into President Trump's administration. A 12 19 PM The Washington Post headline Woz. Campaign to impeach President Trump has begun. Now, with just one week week left They're still trying. Seven days, There will be a peaceful transfer of power just like there has been every other time in our country. Democrats are gonna Pete President Trump Again. Doesn't unite the country. There's no way this helps the nation deal with the tragic and terrible events. Last week that we all condemn Republicans have been consistent. We've condemned all the violence all the time. We condemn the last summer. Condemn it last week. We should be focused on bringing the nation together. Instead, Democrats are going to impeach the president for a second time. One week One week before he leaves office. There was, of course, a lot of rhetoric today. And for those of you who Uh, are are unfamiliar The ways of Washington. Uh they were there was a couple of hours set aside for both the Republicans and the Democrats. And what it allowed was every not every but virtually every member of Congress who wanted to to get in front of the microphone in the well of the house and speak for 30 seconds or a minute. And so Jim Jordan and Jerry Nadler Bird essentially the traffic officers If you will of the two sides and again I watched it throughout the day, and some of the rhetoric was amazing. I will tell you that Maxine Waters. The octogenarian from California did not disappoint. She She ripped it up. So I got to give you a little taste of Maxine Waters here. Cut number 19, the representative from Los Angeles. Maxine Waters, a Democrat. The Republican Party is now the Trump Party. And I want you to know that this is a trump power grab that will not stop. It will not stop with attacking the capital and I state legislatures. This president intends to exercise power long after he is out of office. It is reported that the president of the United States watched the invasion from the Oval Office of our capital and seemingly enjoyed it. I want you to know we should be concerned that the Republicans will not defend him and he is capable of starting a civil war. He must be impeached. He must be stopped now. All right. That's Maxine Waters. Also, Congressman Joe Queen Joe Quinn Castro from Texas. Uh, hey, had some pretty good rhetoric as well. Here he is. Not cut 24 Donald Trump. Is the most dangerous man. Ever occupy the Oval Office. I want to take you back one week ago. Today. When people were barging through these doors..

"Talking about Willie Grass running for mayor of the city of Boston, the current Boston police commissioner, John and Brockman, John, Like to get you into a three more and go right ahead, John. Good evening. Happy New Year. Damn Glad to be back on the program again. I just want to give. I'm not our resident of Boston and clearly but I passed our church in Boston on Talbot Avenue in Dorchester. Oh, great, And I actually know the commissioner Personally, I met him through. James owes a community organizer and he hosted Commissioner Grass hosted. A group of young leaders. The next generation of faith based leaders and community leaders at police headquarters laid out the spread for us and we have the meeting just open to really hear an ear from the next generation of emerging leaders. And after the gathering, I stayed back, and he literally gave me a tour of his office and we talked and we just kind of hit it off from there, and I literally sent him a text five minutes ago, just about the conversation and your program tonight, So let him know what was going on and what's happening, and there was a Boston police event going on at Franklin Park. And we were. It was the same Saturday. We were having our church picnic, and he literally left the police of that and came around the corner. So where we were, and literally just started talking all my congregation's taking self fees. I mean, really, Gross is the kind of individual that I know. And for all of these people, saying he has no political background, I mean, neither does Donald J. Trump. And he's the president of the United States, like Give me a break. Yeah, I think that I think really will basically has has a much kinder demeanor, though, and it is much less narcissistic than the incumbent president. Absolutely. I think he would make an awesome candidate and even greater mayor and he definitely has my support for what was interesting. Are you a member of the clergy? I am. So let me just addressed you properly, Reverend. Thank you very much for calling. I really do appreciate Rob Brooks was reminding me that we had the commissioner in sometime in the last year or so. On. There was a serious shooting and we were doing the show from our studio over in Medford, and the commission was very apologetic. We were he learned about it during the break and said, I got to go. I can and then we said Fine. Go ahead, Go ahead, but he was. He was like apologizing to us that he was doing his job so River. Thank you very much. That was a great phone call. I want people to really give him an opportunity and get to know him for himself because he really is a gentle giant and I pray for him often. I feel like I'm his unofficial chaplain, David. He will text me 56 o'clock in the morning when an officer is going through something and it's just you know, those are the things people don't know about him. Over. Evan, do me a favor keeping your princess. Well, I appreciate it. Keep Well, Bill my family so much job tonight. Thank you, Jean in April. Hey, Gene. Welcome. Next on nights I go right ahead. Again. Hygiene, huh? Even though I don't live in or out. No one ever will speak to the public. You know, he seemed news. These things, right? Such a feeling lonely, very dedicated to his job, and I would say right now if he decides to win I believe that to run. I believe you went well, sure, There's a long way to go between now and whatever that the election. I believe the way it works is that the election has to be held within a period of like 100 and 20 days after The mayor would officially resigned. So that you know, the mayor is gonna have to give up his seat. Um, you know, in order to you know, Once he's confirmed for the cabinet, Sure he will wait between you and I The real win. No job, no dough. Well again, Um, I would not bet against him, and I just think he's an incredibly decent guy. The special election if the mayor does not resign if the mayor resigns before March, 5th, which I think is more likely than not. The city of Boston's try to requires a special election to be held with him 120 to 140 days, So that's in effect around four in five months, so you would have to have a special election. Let's say sometime March, April May Maybe in the latest June. Well, getting the almighty shoes. You think he's the ideal person would I think you're I don't disagree with you. Let's put it like that. Thanks, Jane. We'll talk soon. Okay. Have a great night. Nick and Winchester. Nick. Want to get you on one Maurin Wanna get John from end over and go ahead, Nick. Hey, Dan. How you doing, buddy? Doing great. Your take on No, Willie. No, Willy for quite some time. I work at Boston. As you know, I work in some way. Um Willie never expected anything always waited in line. Always said Hello. Never wanted special special treatment and every single time he came to friendly. He always said Hello? Yeah. That's the one across. That's the really gross that I know. And I think that I think sometimes exceptional times call for exceptional people. And this could be one of those times guy and, uh, With your support and your in your Somewhat good Listen is except for two of them. Who's gonna go? Only one only one tonight That gave me a hard time. And that was the first was one the other night too, As I remember correctly, but I get a few along the way..

"That later. I think the coached actually called the right play there. We'll We'll get to that a little bit later on tonight. My name is Dan Brady. Host of night side here every Monday through Friday night, along with Rob Brooks. Rob is back in the control room set to take your telephone calls, and we are going to talk about all things. Impeachment and censorship later on this evening. We'll be talking will be joined for a while. By Professor Alan Dershowitz, Harvard Law School emeritus talking about all of the legal and the constitutional issues involved here, but in the first hour tonight I would like to go to a topic that frankly might not be on the radar screen of a lot of people, but it was on my braid our screen over the weekend and we reported WBZ. On Sunday morning that the commissioner of the Boston Police Department, a guy who I have Ah, great deal of respect for Willie Grass has been thought has been thinking and actually thinking very seriously about Running for mayor. A Sui All know Marty Walsh will soon take over his position as secretary of Labor and, of course, he will deliver a scientist and that one more state of the Union address. And then hey, will be officially out of office on Willie Cross has indicated to his close friends, as he acknowledged today. Ondas. We reported yesterday morning beginning at 7 30 on the WBC news that indeed he is thinking very seriously and Is going to get very close to a decisions, man. Fact my suspicions is that my suspicion is that his decision will be made by week's end. So this is This is the commissioner today. Apparently he had some sort of an impromptu news conference where he was asked about this, and he certainly made it very clear that he has given in giving it very serious consideration. This is cut four. Please rob anyone running for mayor. Listen, This is where the country began, right? If you want change, speed of change. So for everybody.

The Dow Jones wrapping up 211 points as some P 500, ending the day up 55 a half NASDAQ of 326 points more than 2.5%. Are you 807 time for night side. Stick around. I'm Nicole Davis WBZ Boston's news radio. Tonight Side with Dan Ray, uncovering easy Boston's news radio. Well, Good evening, everybody and welcome in to a Thursday night edition of Night Side. My name is Dan Ray. And even as we're going on the air News is breaking out of Washington and President Trump has apparently come to his senses his at least his political senses and within the last hour Has released a statement two minutes and 41 seconds long. You've been hearing our news team talk talk about in the cold Davis and Dawn, huh? For Andy. Newsroom tonight, and this thing was released just about an hour ago, and after a Tumultuous day yesterday, which we talked about a lot last night and I think we'll continue to talk about that tonight. I thought it might be appropriate to to share with you. The statement for the For the president is again It's arguably a day late and a dollar short. But it is a statement, which clearly indicates that he now has reached a point. Where he realizes he will not be inaugurated on January. 20th the point I think most of us realize sometime in early November. Before I get to that. Let me just introduce myself. I'm Dan Ryan, the host of night side. Rob Brooks is back in the control room and he takes all of your calls tonight. What I'd like to do is get as many of you as possible. Since we try to keep up with things here to react to the president's statement, we're also gonna talk about Boston Mayor Marty Walsh has now been confirmed, will be the U. S. Secretary of Labor in the Biden administration. Indeed, Governor of Rhode Island, Gina Raimondo will be the secretary of commerce. So there is Some very interesting news that has broken today. We still have to reflect a little bit on the disgraceful actions of yesterday on glee now learned today, I guess that a Capitol Hill police officer Um, has also perished as a result of this insanity yesterday. That leaves a five people, including the woman from California who was shot dead, apparently by Capitol police officer There should be a full, thorough total investigation, and we'll get to all of that tonight. I mean, there's just so much to talk about tonight. Uh and I will, um, open it up and give you an opportunity. To respond now to the president's statement. 617254 10 30 Triple 8929 10 30. The Ladies line is always available. 617931 10 30, but I'd like to start off. This is a two minute And 41 2nd statement. That the president released President Trump released from the White House within the hour within the last 60 minutes, And this is finally an acknowledgment, although he does not have the grace to mention Um, Joe Biden's name or Kamala Harris. His name as the president of Vice president elect Hey does in the statement acknowledge that there will be a new administration. More inaugurated on January 20th and he promises a smooth transition has been anything but smooth up until now, But I'd like to play the president's statement, and I want your reaction to it. 617 to 5 for 10 30 Tripoli 9 to 9 10. 30. Sorry if I jumped the gun there, Rob, Go ahead, You can hit it again. I would like to begin by addressing the heinous attack on the United States Capitol Like all Americans, I am outraged by the violence, lawlessness and mayhem. Immediately deployed the National Guard and federal law enforcement to secure the building and expel the intruders. America is and must always be a nation of law and order. The demonstrators who infiltrated the capital have defiled the seat of American democracy to those who engaged in the acts of violence and destruction. You do not represent our country And to those who broke the law you will pay. We have just been through an intense election and emotions are high. But now tempers must be cooled and calm restored. We must get on with the business of America. My campaign vigorously pursued every legal avenue to contest the election results. My only goal was to ensure the integrity of the vote. And so doing, I was fighting to defend American democracy. I continue to strongly believe that we must reform our election laws to verify the identity and eligibility of all voters. And to ensure faith and confidence in all.
