"You get into country music. No not really. But i went to school for music. I was as basically at a music school. Wow the more you know all right anyway give us the handicap. I just take it. I don't think i've ever heard you talk about music wines. Well i don't talk about it. But i did. I did want to mention though Rl stein the most famous Ohio state alum right. I don't think so harshly. Always it okay. There you go listen. Thirteen and a half is kind of partaken. Me off of leaning minnesota. I wanted minnesota. Because i think it's an under game. A pj flack wants to establish. The run wants to control the clock. That's what minnesota does and they're really kind of set up for success in that way because they return one of the best running backs an ebrahim in the big ten they return all five offensive linemen. They wanna keep ohio state off the field and the more the if they can limit the number of possessions th they give themselves a decent shot and on the other side of the ball. Ohio state has a brand new quarterback and cj stroud who. I think eventually ryan day is going to start to take advantage of having probably the best wide receiver duo in the country but early on. He's indicated that stroud is going to be handed off in slowly. It's not going to be all at once. So i think today tonight is the night they want to keep a lot of pressure off of stroud. I think both teams run the ball. I think the clock moves and there's weather in the forecast up there in minnesota. Eileen under sixty one tonight in this game the number coming off fourteen takes me away from any any action on minnesota though so the late money on minnesota and to me this game answers. The question does ohio state reload dies. Alabama you know. There's a couple of teams clemson that. Yeah these are the teams that seemingly the fact that ed all three of those teams have new quarterbacks. And you go. Oh my god down year. It's like well no actually. These are the three favorites. It's like do they reload and if so do do they reload the first game and if so does day play it so conservative that they may be win by ten because they can almost guarantee but not guarantee but have a high chance of winning but not tried to extend the lead because that means playing high variance. And you might lose right. It's if you say. I'm gonna try to win by thirty when you were fourteen. Point favorite thirteen and a half. You actually have a better chance of losing than if you said. I don't care how much i went by. I just wanna win. Because what do you do when you're up twenty one. If you're trying to win by thirty you keep doing risky stuff. Whereas that gives a small chance for the other team to come back joan any thoughts and again. I just think there's a couple of games this weekend. Penn state at wisconsin. This one ohio state at minnesota. I don't know how often team it is at teams open up with conference play in week one like like normally you'll see a neutral site game against the non conference opponent but these are. These are now live bullets. This could have an impact on the season moving forward and i. I just think it's a gutsy move by eighteen. That's going to go on the road in conference to open up your season and obviously no preseason in college football game the georgia clemson game like it could be literally a playoff eliminator in week one. Yeah well that's yeah and so we're we're certain it's only going to be the four teams this year right. Only four teams in the playoffs. This year otherwise okay. Real quick were down. The end of it is aj obviously with the big twelve and the potential news of bringing some teams in obviously lose in texas. Oklahoma is bigger than whoever they bring in but given the options right now the big twelve seems to have. What do you think about this rumor if it came true. I think it's besides adding or or those teams sprinkling into the acc or the pac twelve or the big ten conference. Were interested in case scenario real quick. Can you lay out the teams that are rumored to come in. Yep byu houston central florida in cincinnati rumored to be leaving. Byu from the mountain west and independent in football and then the other three schools from the american conference. The rumor is that they could be the teams that joined the big twelve in texas and oklahoma. Leave which would actually bring the big twelve back to twelve teams for the first time in some time so but the big twelve desperately trying to hang onto power five x iteration. "On top of that lake. These movies feel even though they are sort of capturing like style. The older style of those like eras the characters themselves very modern. Yeah i think. I read part of the av club review and it was like. Oh yeah these focused midwest teens in this little bit. Yeah i lean. Yeah if you think about it that way. It's almost like a little bit jarring. But like i'd rather see that i would rather see the representation. Sure i'd rather see like the queer story that's at the heart of this film In like in the second movie. There's a very Effectively sibling story to slightly really. Carry over like the focus characters in that film Yet like really good performances. You know I was. I was really. I didn't see this coming like i've heard. Rl stein i heard net flicks. I'm like i don't know. But then i wash it and i was like for someone like i don't i'm not really invested in slashers. It's hard for me to really get into them. I was like counting down the days for the next movie You know see i guess. Maybe it helped me. That i didn't hear rl stein. Until after i watched it. Okay yeah so that probably helps. I do have to nitpick like it. Does it does feel anachronistic in that Like whenever the kid is on the computer. It's like that is not how you used computers in nineteen ninety four. I would be on the. Aol message yeah. Was i not later. Yeah oh a lot later. Like for one thing The the the biggest thing was that they couldn't be on the phone at the same damn time. Yeah like the explicitly that was the that was the whole thing. I apart from the time issue there. I did appreciate that sequence even like the title credits like the opening theme which is basically like the opening theme of tv show but like established so much mythology in that yet. I i thought it was like. Oh are they just giving away the whole game here like what yet. The early wishes like saving time. Yeah yeah which was which was a smart but yet like the other thing was like the way that that kid talked was like people online and understand it like things like that Nobody would say that. That that was like modern like jargon horned into the Like they were all just sort of fine with the idea of there being like online community even though he was sort of like not the norm even in their group with them they were all just sort of like accepting of that being A thing that could be the case with him Rather than in nineteen ninety-four.

"Welcome back to Waddle and Sylvie. I'm convict night sitting in for Tom Waddle. Sylvia's still Sylvie. He ain't changing. This is the second half of waters world. It's where we do the weird stuff. So be ready for the wheel. Weird State and Florida or Ohio going into the weekend. That's right for the R Ohio. That's absolute. Thank you. Thank you. I needed the programming note. I am Wash with water and Sylvie right now you try to send twitch to just follow the ESPN 1000 Channel and twitch. You can see me reading all of these stories. This is awesome. And actually, black and Abdal and I were talking about our memories of pizza hut back in the day is young men. We were all well Children of the nineties. All of us were involved in book it. So we understand the singular thrill joy privilege really? That it is to fill out your book it card and then go to Pizza Hut for your personal pan pizza. So good. This is a new technology, though. We also behind the glass here out of the three of us. Have you black and myself? We bet that you were the only one that legitimately filled out yet. You're probably an overachiever, right? What are they gonna do? Prove that I didn't read the books? How you gonna prove that I didn't read it, But you read a lot of books. Not only did I read a ton of books, I'll come. I'll come clean. My middle school had to ban goose bumps books from being eligible for book it because I was cruising through them at way too high rate. Because you could just You just ripped through a goose bumps book in about 45 minutes, slapped that down in the book of thing, Bam! Personal pan pizza. I thought I had it, man. It's like, tell me that's like you bragging that you could run a marathon. It's like, Oh, that's what you mean. I've been running miles in the snow. No big deal every time suppose book and 45 minutes. No, it's It's an admission. It's an admission. I bragged about the loophole to Mrs Suu. Far as I'm doing the thing right, like I just I'm all thrilled that I can rip their own RL Stein book like this. And then I have the audacity to go brag about it and get myself banned from the very loophole that I discovered. So your daughter wants God wins. The last time we had a pizza hut. Oh, whether we get Pizza Hut! Come on now. I don't remember. I think it's almost exactly a year ago. A year ago in three days in the Miami airport, coming home from the Super Bowl, we were starting today and all that, and I haven't had pizza hut in years and I used to love it and we got a bunch of personal pan pizzas. At the Miami airport. Pizza Hut. Living like kings was the only thing that was opened in our terminal cause the terminals were so far apart that crease that greasy crossed, are you guys so I don't know if you're Hold firm that there is a thing in this world called Rescue Pizza. It's the slice that brings you back during a night out on the town. It's the slice that brings you back the morning after kind of thing. It's the slice today that holds you together during a long delay in an airport. You guys had a rescue slice that day after O just lights. We have pizzas. Yeah, that's perfect is what it is, but I'm like you're gonna So all I have to do is go home and quote, read books and fill this out. And I get a free pizza. Yeah, and she's like, Yeah, but you got to read the books. Okay? Sure. Yeah. OK quiz. No quiz. All right. Cool. I waited until college to not read the books in the language that I already knew to get my English degree. So that was real meaningful for May. Pizza Hut is testing drone delivery in Israel drones may soon be deployed to bring your order to a delivery driver or to your door instead of a delivery driver. Throat techno warm Can I assume it will? That's so This was my question. How? How warm is it and tell Aviv right now, why are they testing this in a place? Right? I mean, it's It's warmer there than it is here, right? Yes, yes, For sure, Like much former. Well, unless it ever get cold. Must the drone is attached to the heated bag? Then the heated bags like the drone and heated bag. Come down. You take the pizza out of the bag, and then the drone holding the heated bag, then goes back to the hut. I dig it. I dig it. Apparently the washing journals writing the pizza will use the drones to drop multiple orders at a government approved landing zone, such as parking lot spaces. And then you will have two drivers than delivery drivers will handle the last leg of the journey to get those pizzas to actual customers. Sounds like a complicated too much too much. This is just just how they're getting started. This is getting the people with the ground, right? You know what they're doing? They're taking away as someone who used to deliver pizzas. They are taking away my hard earned my Ligeti's took up a job because what do you do it? You don't think that I can drive in from the hut to the house. Now I got to go to a parking lot to pick it up and then take it to the house. What is it from the hut to the houses like the Abdullah solo album like that's your very first. So wherever the wind takes in. All right. Well, thanks bye. Hello and welcome. To. Adaptations. Awry. I'm Tessa I'm Elliot. Adaptations awry well, terrible there already turning away sorry it, and so what we do on our show tests. We Watch read a book and then we watch the show slash movie of an adaptation of that book and we rip it to shreds well I. I mean I don't I'm not GonNa rip this one to shreds now. A movie to shreds. Yeah. In comparison to a book, not looking at any other aspect of it like quality or anything this wasn't too bad. I don't think this pad. So. What what did we end of reading slash watching the hunt and mask by RL Stein. Now, how were you a big goosebumps growing up? No, I was not like not at all. No I. Huge chicken. Shit, that's true. Are we allowed to cast on the show I? Guess we are now I can I'm huge chicken poop? I like. I'm a huge. I'm scared constantly. You are I the thing that drew me to these books as a kid was the art. I loved the art, the coverage. Yeah and the new covers are not very good other. Not I don't think. Any they're not that great. The old covers are fantastic. Yeah. I read not I did not read this one but had read a lot of them before. I owned this one because I think I got I we read from a physical copy this week. which I think got from I, have a lot of stuff my parents crawlspace. And I have a bunch of books like that. Much of Star Wars books that are kind like this too. And I think that's I just grabbed at one point thinking Oh, I want to read this. I never read it. Yeah and that's and we just sat in our house for nine years. Yeah. Did you watch the show at all? No because. The dog in the front part I part in the opening credit in the opening credits. Scared me. Okay. There's the part where the dogs is in the opening credits. If you've ever watched it, there's an opening credits in the dog's eyes glow yellow and in the Lady's face changes and it's just creepy and I know I didn't do well with I don't do well with creepy now, I did not do with creepy as sorry as a child. Thing. So no I didn't watch it I. Remember I told you this already but I remember running home from the bus stop to watch goosebumps I thought you did it for ghost rider ghost rider didn't use to watch ghostwriter ghostwriter ghost writer yes. Yes I thought you think. Like the Marvel superheroes like no those writer as in like I was another show that was show previous to. This. Show Okay. But goosebumps I remember running home and my mom being like it doesn't come on until four. It's like two forty five. So, Dennis today, it's eleven thirty. So I remember watching the show. Yeah and I don't think I would appreciate it. I don't think I appreciate it as much as I appreciated watching it this time out really yeah for different reasons. But goosebumps, it really is a twilight zone for kids. Yeah, you know it's got that twist weird ending to them usually like this one does. Well. So before we read or before we give our synopsis of the of we're going to kind of do. The Book Synopsis and when we get to something that I say out loud that does not correlate with the show because this was a show. Yes I was a two part episode is actually the very first episode on if you're mentioned that or not but. Getting. Oh. So when I say something that doesn't correlate with what the show says, just stop me or something funny just stopped me. So so do you have some fat? All right. We're looking at the haunted mask eleventh book in the original goosebumps series written by Rl Stein and published in Nineteen ninety-three by scholastic. It has a Word Count of twenty, one, thousand, four, hundred, sixty, and if you read a two hundred and fifty words per minute, it would take about ninety minutes street. It took me a little bit longer than ninety minutes. I don't know I read it in three parts I. Myself, even time yourself. No. I'm going to the next book. So to see if accurate or not I don't. Read fast like I'm not a fast reader, but that's the dyslexia talking to is definitely a book aimed at children. Yes. But there are a lot of big words in it. There are which I thought was a little surprising to me. I. Yeah. It had an original retail cost of three twenty five right now if you bought it, it's like six dollar book. Is it yeah wow holy shit.

"So stay we thought we would warm up a little bit because We were delighted to find out that one of your favorite things in the world. Is Felicity. So. What is it about felicity? Well. It's a couple of things I think. For me growing up I I didn't realize it until. Now but I was really obsessed with the WB like. The WB. Children out there will be like, what is she talking about and I think for me? I became obsessed with felicity because she was like I mean obviously Carey is stunning I'm talking about like I know are but I think really affected. Me Was it. It was about this woman who didn't know what she wanted, but she knew she wanted Ben and saying it now it's like such an eye roll but I just thought it was so cool that she. Didn't do anything that her parents or friends wanted her to do and she like just dropped everything and moved to New York for this guy and Mike as a eleven year old a twelve year old I was like yes. Hi. I'm this is I'm going. This is where I'm going I. totally forgot you're going here. So unbelievable. I know this from high school. This is Susan this is. This is. versity felicity while. All right. So I'll see you around. and. Just told myself that I was going to do the same thing felicity did and obviously I mean I there wasn't a boy that I was like in love with and moving to New York for but I researched that like the school that they were modeling it after. Was Nyu, and so I decided that when I was gonNA turn eighteen that that was the school I was GonNa go to. So it's crazy to say now and you know when I did turn eighteen deny auditioned for nyu I didn't get in and so it was heartbreaking and all that stuff and obviously I realized I was not in TV show in not felicity. But then I auditioned my sophomore year and then I did get in and so I moved I dropped everything and moved to New York did you also? Like seek out a job at Dean and Deluca to really out. Absolutely, and they were like no ma'am and I was like please and it's crazy because i. think when I went in there I couldn't afford like not even a Bego I think it was like seven dollars an onion Bagel. But I was like for me like walking Dean and Deluca was like walking into a museum felicity just had an extreme profound effect I. Mean even now I go back and just watch the pilot discussed. Makes me feel good. So getting a little bit into your work to words that we noticed while researching up on, you two words that positively came up a lot to describe your work either by like your own words or other people describing your work. Were dark and weird. So I was wondering what those words, those two words mean to you. I think if I'm honest both of those words like. Growing up had a negative connotation for me I. Think. People often thought I was extremely weird and you know I was a pretty dark kid in terms of the stuff that I was into I mean publicity isn't that dark but I was really into. Buffy obviously but also these. Books where like it's just you know murder and incest, and then I think a lot of my friends were reading goosebumps which I was into but then like my sister was reading just rl Stein. So I was like wait what's that and so I kind of ditched goosebumps because it was like. And got into Rl. Stein. The adult books recalled Rl Stein and so I would read those a lot and those kind of just kept my. I think I was obsessed with a lot of stuff but I didn't WanNa read the Kitty Shit. I really wanted the adult books and I fought really hard. To like, trick my parents into getting me the staff and pretending it was a PG and That's just show you the kind of kid. I was just like I was beyond curious like I wanted the content I wanted I just wanted to grow up really

"Magazine Bananas That Printed Seventy. Seventy two issues between one, thousand, nine, hundred, seventy, five and nineteen eighty-four. Then he wrote his first Har-, novel, called date and the Fear Street series a few years later before launching the famous goosebumps series throughout his career are all has penn hundreds of bucks with over four hundred million copies sold the Guinness Book of World Records. Sites him as the most successful children's book author of all time, and he won the horror. Writers Association's Lifetime Achievement Award in twenty fourteen more recently, he published the Children's book just beyond the horror. Landing when I was growing up, I never wanted to read a book until I picked up the goosebumps collection, which my parents still have in their home today. That's why I was so excited to speak our alpha. This podcast episode as a child. Your teachers told you not to write and receive criticism about your Comic Book Drawn Smear Classmates. How did this? This harsh feedback back influence your decision to become a writer. I. Don't know if it had any effect at all I was you know when I was like nine I started doing little comic books, and bringing him bringing them into class, and passing them around, it was a way of getting attention and the teachers just begged me. Please Stop Lee stop. If they hadn't beg me to stop. I might have stopped so in a way it was. It was very fortunate. I just I was a weird kid I just loved riding from the age of nine, and I'd be in my room typing all afternoon. My parents didn't understand that this all and I don't either really. Why did I like it so much? I fused to read books. My childhood until I came across goosebumps. What you? You think of the most important storytelling elements that capture the hearts and minds of readers. Even those who resisted reading like me well, you know goosebumps Behr easy to read and I don't make a challenging and all. I have short sentences and I have no vocabulary words. You'RE NOT GONNA learn any new words from goosebumps. That's one of the appeals I think is that they can get through a book so quickly and so easily. The other appeal I think is all the twists and surprises. Most children's books are very linear, but goosebumps always has to have one moment. Apres through where you say. Oh, no I, didn't realize Oh, I had no idea that's what was going on I. Try to put you know just a lot of surprises in the book and I think that's one of the major appeals. And you said you could write a goosebumps book in about two weeks whereas I've written three bucks in ten years. However, you produce such high quality work in such a short period of time in what habits make you so efficient. Maybe your books are better maybe. Maybe that's a good way to do it. I don't know I'm lucky. I'm very fast. I, never have a slow writing day. You know I spend a week planning a book I and I do a complete outline of every book chapter by chapter, so when I sit down to write the book, I've done all the hard part I've done all the thinking and I know everything that's going. Going to happen in the book, and that's why I can write them so quickly because I can just have fun with the outline dumb. Yeah, you said the ending of the book. Knowing that is really key to writing the story and giving you some flexibility in terms of how plays out well I have to get the ending very early in the plan because he ideas fool the kids. Kids fooled readers and if I. IF I know the ending, I know how mislead them. One of the things that I think you've done exceptionally well as adapting writing style to various audiences. So how'd you adopted? You're writing style, characters and themes, different age groups and audiences of readers. My trick is to try to picture the readers as I write, so if I'm writing a book for teenagers. Teenagers I picture older kids. I picture teenagers, and that helps me also sees them as writing it, and then if I'm doing goosebumps age seven to twelve, I try to picture younger kids. That's that's really yet. I did long time ago. I learned all about reading level and vocabulary levels, and how to write to a fourth grade level, and not. That's turned out to be very handy actually. And what's your best piece of career advice? My best advice is to love it to enjoy it and is tell yourself while my lucky I get to right I get to create a world. I get to sit here and write will. How lucky is that? I I get so tired of all these people who say writing is hard writing such hard work and I think if you start out with that feeling. You're GONNA have a hard time in. In what you have to do is have the enthusiasm wire. You're writing your writing because you love it and I think that helps a young writers a lot I, hope I never really enjoyed speaking or writing until I found topics that were worthy of of my effort that I was really passionate about so do you think part of it is round finding a genre or a topic to to focus on? Well, you have to figure out what you WANNA. Do you have to figure out? WHO's your audience? Who Do you WANNA write for? Who Do you think it'll be most fun for you? The right and that's where you start. Are you GonNa? Write for young kids or you to write for adults. You have to make that decision for first, and then you have to try to figure out well. Where's the place for me? I had an Xbox so perhaps in that sense yes. Yeah, yeah, in that sense Also I lived there. Someone got murdered in the flex. It wasn't great. It wasn't great. It wasn't a great six months or so. Wow is right, so yeah, that was. It wasn't great, but it wasn't like you know a demonic possession which is tonight's topic. Yeah, the family that we're GONNA. Be Talking about the SMIRL. Family says they had a much better reason or worse reason depending on how you to look at it to be leaving a home, then fleas bedbugs. congealed food while. Also! Ran By the way food water. That's great. Canadian say smirl great name. If I ever have a pet dragon, which I plan on having one day I'm GonNa. Name smirl mine is Botha's RL Stein, but that's you know different. Inviting demonic possession by having that last name because it sounds like a demonic. To me, swirls is like that Saturday morning cartoon show. We all wanted to wash. smurfs feed it out. Oh Yeah. Okay Gotcha Go smirl yourself. Yeah, so the small haunting. Let's get into this kids. We are in West. Piston Pennsylvania, born and raised in a bad place to live. They say from Nineteen, seventy, four to nineteen, eighty nine. This is fifteen years. Story takes place. And why is it well? We already told you too many damn demons. It's almost it's almost like the vampires. In Las, boys well, this one just had too many damn demons vampires. G. Oh the movie. Sorry, I'm like slow on you right now. On the uptake man come on, she reference yes, at least that's what Jack and Janet's Merle claim and you gotTa love when they have a I D I e that has the same initial, so we're in for a doozy this week, a little story about Jack engine aunt. And that, so, yeah, that's what Jack say. Rather one was freeloading on them and living in the house. Rent free. The Demon Bastard Man. They're always trying to get fucking something from you for nothing. This story the reason we're talking about. Is it caught? National attention became a book and a movie. Man Made for TV, it's better so. We'll ever do. But Anyway, I just say this might be the first time I've agreed with. See bought on the. TV, does that really count then will not. The burning bed is i. mean that was a movie burning bed. Sheets starring Meredith Baxter Birney. Just, I just watched a made for TV, mini series I. Come Behind The Times here but watched Waco from years back with Taylor kitchen it. I haven't. I haven't watched spectacular. I haven't seen that, but obviously that's an area of interest that we've talked in the past I. Got Up that's an interesting thing to hear. Because Taylor Kish is Kinda like poison to everything. He's been in, so I'm glad to hear you know what I mean. He I thought. Man From the Clinton News clips. I've seen of crash. I thought he really You could tell. He did his work prepping for that is. The way he lost it. And also, it officially ended the argument for me. That Taylor Kitsch is just like this good looking dude who really can't act. I. Never Really thought that. 'CAUSE I like Friday Lot Yeah three times a week four times a week. Something like that, you know my Taylor Kitsch Fan Club board, but no. Texas forever, Amen. Clear hearts can't lose. We got lots of people in this story through their hats in the ring to explain this and there were to kind of of capture. The Demon. Knowledge Ists and let everyone else on this whole thing, so the demon allergist encouraged the supernatural belief in this Merle's while people like clergy, medical professionals scientists in John, stamos himself all offered much more mundane and plausible explanations as to what was going on, and we're going to break down all those Did you say John? Stamos did so though calling demons, not plausible I. Think is just what a demon would want. Don't you think playing their gay? Yeah, Oh yeah, and those demon! They're complacent. We'll get into a lot of this and we have got a lot of this. I just like giving ratio because he. He likes the Warren's and I think they are human. Feces, but that's a different story so yeah. You? Just clarify the timeline real fast. Yeah, you had said that. In the House who is nine, hundred, seventy, four to nineteen, eighty nine. "Malfunctioning Shot Tar at everyone clearly. There's something wrong this call the parents but shouldn't parents be there already. I mean that's a good point. This is a Christmas tournament and is being held like a couple of days before Christmas like two days before Christmas. Yeah what are also the burns going to be if not at their kids stupid tournament. Who is watching this game? Yeah exactly right. It's not like there's this huge like rabid fan base. I mean maybe there is but it's probably mostly consisting of the parents of the kids or blame. There's like twenty kids here between the basketball team and the cheerleaders at least one senate parents should be there and if they saw just half the shit that just went down. It'd be like right. They're pulling their kid outta there getting them in the car and driving them home immediately and they'd be calling the other parents going. Let me tell you about the tar canning. And the next they'd be like Oh my God. The coach is bloated dead. Yeah that'd be a kid's going home and the next day was Christmas Eve and yet they're still there doesn't make any sense and also. Can we talk about Christmas break? It says that the Christmas break already started when they had their ice skating party and they made the Ice Skating party out to be like a week or two ago. So how long is their winter break? Because I know for US winter break started on Christmas Eve. I don't know maybe it's different in Ohio. Maybe Ohio just has like really long breaks listeners. If any of you or no hieaux you know. Reach out to us. We're not talking about colleges. We're talking about like high school actually now thinking about it like the new cheerleading squad. Coach is definitely getting fired. And that's probably what happened to Mrs Green Green Gut fired on producer after all the bullshit that went on and now the bullshit is even worse. So this new coaches is done for. If the school principal can survive all these students dying one by one in his school. Emperor sure the cheerleading coaches fine. Hernandez he's fine. She's fine. Who wants to work at a school with so many deaths? You're not getting teachers. Better keep the ones you got your now. The basketball coaches is gone as crazy. That's pretty horrific. If the evil wanted to kill Debra Kimmy in Gorky. Why didn't it just like possess them into drowning themselves? And why are all the cheerleader in basketball players possess Get off scot-free even like a random cheerleader on the other side it's targeted but not corky. What was the plan? We kind of like got inside the head of the evil in the previous book. When possesses Corky I think what happened was? It's kind of a symbiotic relationship so it helps you like act out your leg deep jealousies in like impulses basically any kind of evil that you have. It'll take over and say yep I can do that. I can make an evil thing. Come out of your evil impulses. If anybody dislikes Corky they could've evil curse her to like dying corky. Was there at every single instance of something bad happening every single incidence of those. Like Weird seance things that three idiots pulled off parties? He like main remember at the very end. She has that weird ass vision of them zombies or whatever and that's never really explained. They confirmed that she ran into the arena and she ran onto the basketball court and she ran into the coach end. She passes out but nothing really explains like that particular thing. 'cause I was like oh it's a bus. She's obviously dreaming. She obviously like passed out somewhere else. But then it's like no. That actually happened so nothing really explains that hallucination part of me thinks that like maybe she was the one possessed by the evil. Yeah maybe you could go to evil theory. There could be. She's possessed by evil than they. Someone another one that has all the ones or the just an aspect of the same evil that wants like the entirety of. It's it's evil back. Part of the evil stayed a part of her. And it's calling to the rest of its parts right while she's like a whore crux basically exactly and then she has to die for the evil to die could be well. Kinney's dead now was in command possess the one point. Yes so maybe like they just have to die one by one and then only then can the you will be like finally exactly so my thing is like maybe. Corky is part evil. Kimmy was part of the evil but like the evil doesn't know that it's necessarily part of them. That's why it was so willing to kill Kimmy by killing kimmy. It makes it easier to kill the evil. Maybe we're GONNA find out in the next book. Why are we going back to the Harry Potter analogies my thing what were your thoughts on this book coors possess to begin with didn't just have this. Cup? We've been having this conversation this whole time and I still don't get it like was it. Debra Ivy League. Maybe Ivy was possessed from the start then. It doesn't explain like her doing that. Ice Skating thing in a circle around the whole but then that goes back to like. Why would you be surprised that an evil could escape from a body of water could have even been Morin like the thing is I feel like in this book like every other bug he makes a bunch of red herrings right? So maybe it's this person. Maybe because he likes to have a good number of people do something suspicious. So it's plausible that any one of them could be the culprit right so a bunch of them are made out to be red herrings and like okay one of them's the real deal. And then ten other people are possessed on top of that and then at the end of the book. It's like never really revealed like you. Never there's no resolution who was it. That was the original persons possessed. You don't know. Is it anybody who knows? Maybe nobody this is the least satisfying ending in terms of figuring out. Okay was who? Was it the whole time? You don't know it's never actually revealed where the evil was the whole time it. Pardon me also thinks that like it could have been debra who is possessed because she was so gung Ho from the star of the book was. Let's start this thing. We got the candles. We got this book from Random Sore. Trust me we got this exactly and then all of a sudden that we've unleashed the evil like how do you mess it up so badly right. It's almost like it was designed to actually happen that way but she was in the car when heather was thrown out of so deborah. Was there for that. So that's why I'm thinking like I don't know but also like would it be like parley angry that like someone is violating seatbelt? Laws IN HER CAR. Just like you know what? Let teach you a lesson. You'll never put a seatbelt on ever again. Listen sometimes you just need to teach a lesson. I've seen arrested development. This is teach lessons aside from that. Like kind of unsatisfying. Non Resolution to the mystery. I thought this book had the most bad ass. Heroin scene of any Elstein judiciary book so far with hijacking the boss and just driving off a cliff would like all the possessed zombies on it. That was like really bad as remember like reading the book going. Like Oh my God you know. Just exclaiming out loud like this is so cool going back. We've had a lot of scenes like that. You know like for example in Halloween party was where the heroine likes Max. The bad guy with like a giant cast-iron panir whatever this was like next lot hijack the boss. This is next level crazy like don't even know how to drive a buzz. He somehow in the past heard about US complaining about his bosses and he's like you know what? Wait until you get to that book and you'll see a bus and we were Bubbas. Bus was not a boss's boss she gets on and she drives that bus right off the cliff so cool and then she just jumps out the door to. That's like so funny goal. I guess she's like well. I definitely got rid of the evil but I don't know why friends and it's like girl. How do you even know you got rid of the evil like you just drove it into a lake again? Used drove into another body of water. You didn't work. The first shoes like running for her life through the woods being tired night all night long she never got any sleep. She was just running trying to run for her life escape and then like straggles back to the motel in the early morning after all night out in the woods in the winter freezing cold and she sees all these frigging zombies. Get on the bus and instead of going like okay. I'm almost free. Just wait for them to leave and then just like find a way home. She's like you know what I'm going to stop them. I'm not going to let them go back to the arena. Not GonNa let them hurt anybody else. I got them all right here in one place. The bus driver like goes into some Gothic from the hotel lounge and she seizes this opportunity. She's like I'm the only one that can stop this right now. Once and for all drives the buzz right into the woods right up the mouth off the cliff was like Holy Shit so so brave. You think about like how. She was thinking about her sister earlier in the book now. She's thinking about Kimmy. He's doing it for them. You know the ones that died. She wants to put this to an end once possessed once. You can't be possessed again once you get grown Second Time what I think. Earl Stein was really writing about the Global Navarre's pandemic all the way back in nineteen ninety four. He called it. Maybe there's a thing where if you're possess over double do it never made can do it. Now that's what I'm saying like once you've been possessing before she wears her crystal thing should have all won crystal. Maybe they should have gone. Debra Debra give everyone curse though but you know what all props Sikorsky for doing what she did. But I would be deborah. I would be like I'm going to the restaurant hiding here until daybreak Superabrasive we all WANNA be Quirky. But we're all either deborah or Kimmy. Just be honest here so out of five skating blades. How many would you give it a good like three getting blades? That's like a normal book scale as it is. I thought that bus scene was so cool. It made up for like all the other nonsense in my mind. A we'll never know who is possessed. Maybe the next book go find out. I don't know I don't remember what I gave it on good reads. I'm just GonNa say I gave it a four out of five on my fierce rescale. Aren't it was fun? I had phone with it. Feel like what he does really really good is complimentary. It's slightly backhanded. When you do a one off book like his normal series tends to be you have to like set up your characters to give them like background Described them because in a way that only are Elstein can describe characters blonde. Pale creamy white skin silver blonde. Exactly you need so much time to set up. It's like in the babysitters club you need to like us. Three or four chapters just explained what the club is who girl is at the characteristic of each of the girls and that's kind of what our Elstein dozen his book like. He has so much time but he has to go into describing sitting up. His characters of the book suffers been something like the cheerleader series. That we've had so far He's already done. The bulk of the character development in like those books. Like we know corky. We know Kimmy like we know these characters. I feel. He didn't really waste that much time. Trying to explain these characters to us you just kind of referenced the previous books and if you've read those books like you know who these people are. You know what they're capable of. You know you know their ups and their downs of their highs and their lows. He didn't really have to do that here. Like he just put those characters that he's already built up into a story and it was sort of well done if to be like a counterpoint. To that anytime he does try to recap something from a previous book. He ends up contradicting himself or getting the facts wrong. That is valid. There's another reason. Possibly that doesn't do that is just so since he doesn't have any notes it's best not D- alike. Go back to your notes. I feel like every book your rights just writes it and then as soon as it's like after the publisher he tries to forget it like as hard as he wouldn't you know what I'm trying to say is like this is a super chiller book so it's longer than the average book because he's using less time to set up these characters that means more time is devoted to plot right. You can say like there's a lot of nonsense that's happening and they're still unanswered. Questions can concede that to you but at the end of the day like it is probably being part of a series like the cheerleaders. Or I'm sure for Silent Knight and Riva Daulby what it does. Is it really helps? Not just you as a reader like get into the story easier but it helps him. As a writer that is not his forte. And I feel like when you get rid of the thing that he's weakest at it just elevates this book it just seems like it's a better book because you don't have to deal with like the parties really crap at so that's why. I think I might have liked this book a little more because plot wise. There's a lot that doesn't make sense. And whatever but it's still like fun and catching my attention and there's not really anything objectionable so for the next book so speaking of Rl Stein book series inside the Fear Street book series. We're starting another one next. Episode is going to be the first book in the Ninety Nine Street series ninety nine fierce street the house of evil the first horror now n actually went ahead and read the book without making a prediction. Got then again. My predictions are always so accurate that I just wanted to give surgery chance all right so I'm GonNa let you describe the cover. Okay so on the cover. It's house like the front of a house. Likely the doorway. The number ninety nine is written on it..

"Tomorrow's America Flint a smart ambitious and zoom in doomed. She has no future until the future comes calling for her. It's based off of William Gibson's is best selling novel and there's not a lot information other than it deals with the future which makes sense for somebody for creators who are already working on a project. It's like westworld. That's that's going to be coming to prime video next up apple. TV plus there was a new series announced. Ben Stiller is going to be directing the series called severance switch will star Adam. Scott this has got a full series order Over at Apple. TV plus this is described as a workplace thriller that is set At lumine industries. A company looking to take work life balance to a new level. Scott will start his employees with dark past trying to put himself back together. This is a little. But if a sidebar Adam Scott. I don't really see him in a series movie. I always think of him has been from parks interacting so to me. He's always going to be a comedic actor so hearing that he's going to be in a serious role. It just kind of surprised me for a second all right so then jumping over at Disney plus Obviously Disney plus. We talked about on Tuesday. That's already released but one of the things that happened right before before the launch was that It was announced that Disney gained back the rights to all but five of the MSU films so out of the specifically the five that are not going to available on Disney plus because we don't really need to cover every other one that's coming Black Panther ant man the wasp adventures the infinity. The war and Thor Ragnarok was the four movies that will not be available. They'll be available at later. Dates during twenty twenty. The one that will probably never beyond the service at least for for the foreseeable future as the incredible hulk starting Edward Norton specifically because film over at universal and is unlikely to ever appear Disney plus unless Disney works out some sort of the deal with universal to have the streaming rights for that for that one so moving right along to Hbo Max so a couple of small things. The first one is is there is a friends reunion special in the works. Now this is not necessarily in character or anything like that. It's more of just getting the cast of friends back together. It says that the forecast and the critters would participate. But there's nothing set in stone at this point However with friends coming to HBO? Max It looks. It's like they're trying to do some sort of reunion special to get all of the casts to come back to kind of talk about the show and obviously it'd be great hype and marketing for HBO. Max It's having the series on the service when it when it launches in May this is. This is interesting one. I'm not sure I could watch a movie about friends. You know. It was really good Sitcom this whole report kind of reminds me of the office situation which I don't know if a few thoughts heard that people want a remake of the office office no sorry a continuation of the office. 'cause the offices so hugely popular. Everyone loves it so there's always been incident Ramirez of it's kind of coming back and you know through the the thing is it's people like we don't we're not going to say no bud. All the castes has to be there which you know you have to guarantee a whole lot of people coming back in and that's always going to be hard so this is kind of in that promise for the office just seems a little little open ended a little bit vague. That's kind of what I feel about this whole friends moments just like you know. Hey this is a cool idea. We might leak at Seattle Fan. Reaction is but there's nothing stone this is just all talk different. told illegitimate He you know it's just like you know we know we'd be interested to do something but there's no promises there's no contracts written out there's no nothing's been ordered to series or whatnot so this Seems like a bunch of conjecture a much hearsay agree marketing move though for. Hbo Max's You know arguably gave one of the top five sitcoms of all time and get back on the show and get people back up and running like it's a great marketing all right so then the other HBO. Max Project that was announced is that there is a another anthology series that's in development and this is based on the point Hora books have you're unfamiliar with the point horror books these books come from. Rl Stein the creator of goosebumps but he moved over to the point horror series which dealt with more of a teenage spin on things goosebumps for kind of all ages point horror dealt with the horrors that come with being a teenager so that's that's an anthology series. It's currently being worked on over at HP. Max Sexually going to be coming from a company called pitcher start in Lionsgate television but again it shows that one others slash war media is has has no qualms with bringing in content from other companies to fill up the service. Need if they need be now they did say during the investor thing that fifty percent of all the original content on HBO. Max will be provided by Warner media in some capacity custody but that does leave a lot of room for a lot of other companies to bring in TV series and films and things like that down the line so you can't really compare it that well because goosebumps is a series. That's pretty old and the TV series wasn't exactly a great television so it'll be interesting to see how this ends up I'm not holding Breath but By the time the series actually comes round. My son could probably pre-pretty into its. That'd be good all right so then jumping over to the minor services we got. CBS All access. CBS All access Our CBS that is confirmed. It has snagged champions league soccer rights starting in two thousand twenty one what this means for. CBS All access is that had these. This means that they will be airing all the matches live on. CBS All access along with slick matches airing on the CBS broadcast. It's not work This is GonNa Start in twenty twenty one. I personally don't watch soccer. But I know that this is a big gill and that the finalized. A lot of they've had a finalized deals in order to get the rights to these games but in reality the bigger picture is at CBS. All access is becoming a really really good place place to go for some live sports because now they have soccer they already have. NFL Games last year. The Super Bowl because it just happened to be there year to have have the Super Bowl. I I know that they're also real big in the college basketball and college football Markets so they have a lot of a lot of content and the first sports and that that makes it a little bit better of a service to offer all right so as usual. We're going to wrap up the episode news with a lot of qube stuff because let's let's be honest every episode that we talk about content cribs and not a number of announcement so I have a new scripted. Comedy called Agua donkeys and this is coming from a team from funnier. Die Another project that is currently in the works could be announces. The cast for new action thriller. Non Not going to get. We're not doing uncast announcements by any means. It's not something we're GONNA be covering but there is but they didn't actually have any information from this other than it's a new untitled action thriller series from the Scorpion Creator. Nixon Torah the log. Line is desperate to take care of his pregnant wife before terminal. Illness can take his life. Dodge main maynard accepts an offer to participate in a deadly game where he soon discovers that he's not the hunter but the prey on the action thriller explores the limits of how far someone would go to fight for life in their family. Then there's another series called Nikki fresh which is a comedy series about Nicole. Richie's rapper alter ego. There's another series called wireless which is described as the survival thriller from Steven Soderbergh. And this is GonNa Star Tye Sheridan the description for this. This is a survival movie for the next generation about the lies we tell through our phones and the lies our phones tell us and then finally slug fest which will be a Docu series where the roussel brothers. The directing team behind the last two avengers movies will delve into the marvel versus DC rivalry so marvel marvel comics for DC comics and talk about. I guess what's each pluses and minuses. Each company real. Sure exactly where they're going to go with this at my. I don't. I'll have a lot to say about any of these. I'm interested in probably over Stacey one because of my connection to comics. Although I'm kind of curious how a directing team who has directed directed three different movies over at Marvel is going to go into a project like this and it's not going to have some sort of bias. I hope it doesn't i. I hope it's completely down down the line I don't know exactly what's the point of having a Docu series about the rivalry because I'm not sure. How much rivalry? There actually is other than producing movies. One does better better than the other one does better than the other not real sure. Exactly what the rivalry aspect of the documentary would be all right with. All of that. Being said I I want to direct your attention to the listener trailers which is found in the show notes. There's a number of trailers to be honest. All of the out of all the stuff that all the new trailers released nothing really stood out to me. So it's not really worth bringing any of those up as far as new content coming out over the next week on. There's only a couple of things that I'm kind of looking forward to the men in Hi Castle. Something worth mentioning. I actually haven't seen the series since the end of season. Two's on a little bit behind but that would be something that I would check out if I was caught up another thing. There's a film called Earthquake Bird which is over on Netflix? That's coming out on Friday and then there's that that looks kind of interesting. It's kind of a crime. Drama drama thriller. There's also an animated film for the family called clause very holiday ask dealing with Santa Claus can definitely check that out with my children but at the probably the one project. I'm really really looking forward to over. The next week is actually a documentary series called toys. It made us which is actually series. Three this is they they do about four episodes of a deep dive into different toy properties toy brands. And things like that. So that's something that I've already watched the first two seasons and it's definitely I'm gonNA check out again in the future that all being said That's going to wrap up this episode of the Stream. Wars remind everybody to head over to to the website to check out the release calendar for all the latest content that is released on all the different streaming services..

"And I think even though it's not always a good feeling with horror like most of the horror movies that I watch even if they're just bad in mediocre films. Like, I can still feel that thing with me at least until the next morning when I wake up there's something powerful to be said about art that you can feel with you. And so I think like after that time of just watching horror for so long in becoming not numb to it. But really distance from the initial fear of like just watching this movie. I realized that that might be a space where I can talk about a lot of the things that happened to me to I'm so afraid to bring out into I can't write poetry about this thing. Like yet. I can't write an essay about. This thing that happened to me. But there are a lot of ways that I can use the politics of horror film to like really suppressed that trauma in the subtext and scare the fuck out of people because I love scaring, the fuck out of people, especially little kids, which is like. What I'm trying to do. I'm definitely trying to be awesome goosebumps anthology. Scaring the fuck out of little kids. But also. Here's here. As well. That's a great quote from the youth. The United States of them kid. So that's just a spite for them. But also, I've been giving them that's more. Like, here's this thing that made you really really scared households shoe less and nothing RL Stein. Did that a lot and a lot of times he was just being ages. A lot of times he was being very sexist. There was a lot of isn't coming out of his work. But after every episode I walked out with the lesson. And I think that's something. I just wanna start working on film, and like how can provide these lessons to us that we didn't even know we need it, or or was gonna come from this film because a lot of people go to horror films, just for the adrenaline just for the thrill. And then you walk away with something that you weren't signing up for and like before I say this my audience is in no way. Like, why people sometimes it's white people? When I want to say some to them as white people. And when I want to say some to him this mitt, but other than that most of the time, I poetry is just for my peoples, and I think horror film can be a great way for me to just folk with white people and just also send them away with this thing like, and that's why I'm so excited about hor, especially like this new thing that I see like sneaking out this Candyman move. That's coming out. I'm super excited about just because like I was excited when I knew it was doing it. But I also got duly excited. When I knew a black one was directing because like I did this whole thing like googling horror films by black women and their few. But they're also a lot of just like horror films with black women in them that are severely racist. I just watched a horror short film that Brin Newsom directed. Have you seen that? No. Yeah. Who klein? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. She's an artist. She's a filmmaker at turns out, and she has short film called wake. It might be like on YouTube or on video somewhere. But it's a great short film. And it's you know, it's like an all black cast like in the south. It's beautiful. I think it's really yes horror. I'm so excited. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. It's great..

"Wouldn't go toe-to-toe. A Stephen King about politics. I mean, no disrespect to you, drew. But I hold Stephen King. And no regard like I hold hold RL Stein in higher regard. Honestly. Yes, I him and crazy Patty, you know, or the same come on get out of here. As far as callers, go. Oh, yeah. They're the same to me by being your own hero misery pet cemetery. I mean pet cemeteries a great move Christine. Yeah. It begins and ends with pet cemetery. That you're not a fan of his art, John? You're not a fan of his political opinions and salems lot. Do you read horror? Have you ever read horror? I read. Yeah. I read a goosebumps thoroughly and. I just used to be so in love with books that I would immerse myself in them. And I'm I read the dead zone. That was the first book that I read by him, and I fell in love. I was like oh my God. Who is this guy who can spend such a captivating tale. So I read dead zone and salems Lod and carry a cujo and Christine the stand and the shining, brilliant brilliant. I feel now's around portion of the show or guys who have worked on Stephen King, south Sarasota, start to call guy. No, don't do that, please. Yeah. He's talked about side the public's seventy seven five seven nine one zero two five and eight hundred this is when you can call eight hundred seven seven one one or two five Chad caused she'll be joining us momentarily. I was going to the gym this morning, and I saw all hell breaking loose cops. Parents everything in front of Fornell middle school, and Mary Brian elementary school. I mean, it looked like there was something going on. Did you did you did you get out went to the workout? So I went to the world I figured I'd go on Facebook. And find out what was happening. Do you ever? Have those weird thing? Like like was it possible that something like terribly was going on? Did you ever see those weird moments where you think yourself like this could be the beginning of the end of the world. Like, there could be some sort of like virus that just broke out. And I'm just seeing the beginning of it did that run through your mind. Not then. But the next time I'm sure it will now that you've put that in my head. No, I just figured I figured there was something going on. There have been a couple of false alarms since I've been living in that part of town. And so I figured it was just one of those. But then I went onto my neighborhood's Facebook page, and I will tell you what man post after post of parent freaking out because their kids at that school. And they can't get information. All they know is there is locked down. And then some lady said active shooter reported, and I said, I usually try to stay out of the neighborhood Facebook page because I have a forum wherever day can talk about my thoughts, you read it. Don't you? Yeah. All the time you want to grab. So I I saw that it was urologist. You're okay. You got it. You got oh, you hung up. He hung up. Sell it till the sheriff, Eric all you got to get. Okay. So so this late it's going to hang up on him when he goes to grab it. I'll just take it live, dude. No. Speaking of flight three, I got it up. I'll pick it up live stuff. I got I got. Hi, drew grab alive. Yeah. Chad, chronic inflammation garage. Sheriff what's happening, man. Thank you very much for making time, and congratulations to you and your entire organization for the very prompt and thorough response to what happened this morning at Farnell middle school and Mary Bryant elementary. Why don't you tell people what happened how it unfolded? And and what you can glean from this. Yeah. Well, thank you, drew. And I appreciate the compliment is static as I am proud of everyone and how they responded in just storm the school and immediately started diligently figuring out to make sure that there wasn't a threat to tell you. I my heart goes out to every student there that had to go through that traumatic experience because one of their fellow students wanted to fabricate a story that she saw somebody with a gun walking around the campus. Yeah. That's that's very unfortunate. Because we like to raise our kids to be honest kids, and we encourage, hey, if you see something say something and that still holds true, if you do see something suspicious by all means, no matter how old you are you're to pipe up. But to have a girl completely fabricated story wasting your manpower causing how many grey hairs from parents out there who are who live in the surrounding area e get pissed off a little bit right now. No, you absolutely. Do we talked and had several conversations, you know, that I'm a tremendous advocate for all the preventative. And every program we could put in place diversion programs to keep our young people are the criminal Justice system. But when it comes to school based threats I have zero tolerance, unfortunately this. This sixth grader is going to be charged with a couple of felonies. And now going to have to go to the courts do is flavor actions because it's so manpower intensive so traumatic that just everyone involved in it. Terrific truly is. Yeah, it is. But I will say none of us really know what it looks like when you have an active shooter. But I hope that everyone in Hillsborough county knows that if it word ever happen, which hopefully it won't you guys were on it quickly. Your officers were addressing the parents who are who are camped out by the Walgreens there and by the winn-dixie, I think when you when you drop a playbook for Chad, your guy's got everything. Right. This time. No, they sure did the entire response from the school resource deputy bean were she indicated they last saw the individual within thirty seconds within moments after that to have fifty five deputies stormed the campus the way that they did, you know, aviation air one probably they shouldn't have been flying conditions were less than ideal. You you talk about a moment when a sheriff can sit back and be proud. They just they did everything we trained and we trained and we trained God forbid something like this happens. And today they were able to put that training into us and to see the way that they handled this and the timely the time of the entire response. I got a smile from ear to ear. We'll good. Yeah. And it's the best possible outcome to a horrible scenario that nobody ever wants to go through. What do we learn from this sheriff what what can we as citizens, and parents what can we take away from this other than of course, encouraging our kids to both see something and say something, but also. Tell the damn truth. That's exactly right. They have to know that this threat is no different than than one. That's made an airport are on an airplane. There's just a zero tolerance for in. Today's society for these types of threats school basis is no different there. There is no joke. There is no room because you wanna internet, and you, and you know that the anniversary's coming. So you decided to bring something forward and fabricates entire story. And it's a shame because you have thirteen hundred other kids who are traumatized with such a police response when the whole thing could have been avoided if you just wouldn't have fabricated such outlandish story, we're talking to Hillsborough county sheriff Chad Crawford or about today's lockdown at far Mel middle school in Mary Bryant elementary sheriff sorry for the ignorance on the topic. But when you say that the student will be charged with a felony. Does that automatically mean that they will be charged as an adult or how does that work as far as you know, what this this student is looking forward to as far as charges that deck? That's that's not a bad question. Great question. But that the state attorney makes that determination. So we will gather all the facts of the case report, everything for the report down to the state attorney, and they will decide if the severity or serious note seriousness of the charge warrants then being charged as an adult. So that would that would be a determination by the state attorney. Gotcha. We're speaking with Chad Coster about today's locked down, which I again, I can't say enough, and I hope that everybody's saying it to your guys how well they handle it. How throw the hamlet, and you got parents freaking out especially in that area. Where some parents send to be helicopter parents. Anyway, you I can't say enough Chad. How proud I am to know you, and and how you guys hit it out of the park on this one. Great job, man. We can't thank you enough. And thank you for the tremendous support. Of course, now Seth what do you have for sure of Chad chronic this isn't about the lockdown sheriff? I want know, you know, I need some last-second ideas. What do you plan for Valentine's Day tomorrow? We're actually doing it as a family tomorrow will Nikki, and we'll do our romantic thing later on tomorrow's the entire family going going to dinner. So it's a family affair tomorrow, which is still romantic in its own sense. But not romantic that were used to talking about. Everyone. Do you? You just reminded me. I better get my butt out there. Get some Valentine's Day cards are going to be in big trouble. Now, Chad I don't think we've spoken to you since you've taken office officially not just interim sheriff as elective sheriff. Is it everything that you thought it would be in more? What surprises have come your way? Or is it pretty much exactly what you've been dealing with relax year or so. Well, it's it's the same the jobs the same. But it is surreal to think that your community voted that you're the person should be the sheriff. And I I I don't take that. For granted. I never will. It's such a privilege, but it's rewarding. I never thought in twenty years alone forcement as much as I enjoyed it. I would have such a platform to build create direct policy to be able to have such a influence in the community. And and that's the best part. There's nothing more gratifying or rewarding. I think that that I'll ever do in my entire life. Well, you're a heck of a human being proud to know you sheriff cross star. I hope you do have a happy Valentine's Day, and I hope to talk to you soon. All right. Thank you have a wonderful day. Thanks. Appreciate it. Absolutely, man. Great job. Great job. That was nice wishing another, bro. Happy Valentine's Day like that. I love love. So on the on the neighborhood Facebook page this ladies posted active shooter reported, and I think that's heinous irresponsible. Because even if you heard that you wait until that's confirmed when everyone else is saying lockdown lockdown lockdown on my daughter my kids. Okay. Posting active shooter reported in my opinion is akin to yelling fire in a crowded movie theater. You make people freak out. And I I usually keep my opinions myself in the neighborhood Facebook page because my opinions I get paid for them to to six, but I went at this lady. And I said listen. I said what you did is heinous irresponsible. I love the word heinous transcripts are. Well, she deleted. She took her post down because everybody jumped on her like, I was the first, but everybody did you throw a one of those ten Facebook compliments on the backside. No, I did that before seven thirty this you gated today got him in a in a row twenty people. Twenty comments twenty different people have received unsolicited comments on Facebook tomorrow by tomorrow. It'll be thirty. If they've made me feel great. I just I just scroll when I when I take my morning constitutional. I scrawl, and I look for people who seem like they might need a little bit or somebody who's struggling with something I go..

"Or situations. When it comes to the weather. We all want to know, what upskilling say, you know, what he said he said, it's gonna be. He said take care of yourself. He said be careful out there. He said, he didn't know. There was no yelling Elliott, and that was my own editing on this read right here. I've I've heard Tom skilling nail though. That's true. Yeah. Tom freaking Elliott's. I mean, sorry, you're Elliott. Campbell's skilling. Visit video of him. Yelling went. Yeah. Well, I'll tell you the video during the news. Let me finish this watch for updated forecast from Chicago's most trusted who has been known to scream just wants for fun. Really Tom skilling weeknights on WGN TV. I'm a little I'm running a little bit late because I the was so enchanting, and I and I told Eric Elkin, and Dave Lundy that are finally Friday segment was going to be a little bit late. And then it got later so much to talk about I don't even know where to begin. Because like I thought it was one thing and these kids with the with these guys, and then and there were pictures, and then and then the government shutdown, and then they were indictments, and then the government opened again. But then there were letters in between, and there was like you can't come to my house, and they were like, well, I'm coming to your house, and she's like, no, you're not. And he's like fine. Maybe later and then. Yeah. So there was a. I think that was a good summary. Although you could have summed up that story with just a simple. No, no means. No. Yeah. No means no. But also, and then beyond that, that's not even everything because then there was city hall in like, you were wearing a what I thought you were my friend, and whatever. Yeah. So I mean alderman soleus what happened. I mean, do you think he cut a deal with the F B I? He cut a deal with the FBI. Eric was like stunned that I even question that. The baby. Of his heart question. Clean house. Maybe he's like, hey was doing it for the good of the community possible. Don't think that there's more on this onion peel back there. So I don't know. But there's there's about forty two other people in the city council next meeting going to be looking around going who's are you wearing a watch. Yeah. You're where I'm not wearing a wire, you ain't got to wear a wire us have a cell phone and just press record. I don't even know what difference. Does it make it makes FBI has to be on board with it? Otherwise, it's illegal. You can't just record people. You have to have both sides. Be able to either change that a few years. It depends. If if someone said me too. Did wear wire. And they catch that they were asked by one of their colleagues. Hey. You gotta strip down. Oh. Episode or something no kidding. Why are you? Why are you? Hey, how you doing? He's like padding. That was really I mean, I gotta tell you the reaction of the Alder creatures was remarkable remarkable reaction of the Alder creatures. Sounds like a young adult novel. Sounds like a like a like an RL Stein book like it would be in goosebumps. Yes. Reactions. Yes. Well. Extrordinary because these guys would be asked by media. I mean, don't they have like a little filter at certain point. That says okay, don't say what I'm thinking. Which is so Lisa's a rat. But they all said it out loud. Cog. Oh, man. It's just highlights improves what so many people thought for so long. Was it was it? He went he went. He took like a long pause before answering it then he went was far as I know if you're wearing a wire means you did something wrong or somebody make on. Wow. I thought it was also the one who said something like. In my neighborhood. Right. If you did that you were a rat stoolpigeon. My dad would always say stool-pigeon, slowly, it's old school. That's the thing. It was it was like all of a sudden this resurgence of old school, and they all said it out loud. It's like every all filter just suddenly disappeared. And they were so outraged. How dare you wear a wire on Burke to save your skin? And you know, what it reminded me? They all sounded just like, let's see who is that other politician who's been attacking people who cooperate with feds and who's called them rats. All right. That's the president of the United States. Trump alternate. It's just. You know, what no one could see your mind being blown. But. Yeah. But did any of the blown emoji? Do any of the alderman like anybody tweet out any Alder creatures? I apologize. I did any of them tweet out anything about this or was pretty much just I don't really follow them on Twitter. And then and then the polling numbers came out. And it was anybody's surprised how low the numbers were I for comptroller Mendoza. Well. So first of all, it's we ask America. And those people don't know what they're always. Sorry. Eric. Got personal. And I don't know why that happened more in a moment, they want you to take care of it..

"Insurers a rocket-propelled grenade. Tomorrow off to the shoulder. I was discharged from the army, and I've been working with products since two thousand seven to be severely wounded a lot of guys have post traumatic stress disorder being able to share your story. Kind of helps you wrap your mind around. What did happen over there? My name is Laurie and yes, I do suffer from post myself. Don't suffer in silence, contact wounded warrior project dot org. So. Oklahoma's first news. Good morning from NewsRadio one thousand Kennedy. Okay. You know, our Elstein is the creator of the goosebumps series. Both the books and now the movie goosebumps, too, which is out on Blu Ray, tea and DVD with digital bonus features tomorrow morning is when it's officially released RL Stein is joining us now NewsRadio one thousand Katie. Okay. RL? What was the primary motivation for creating goosebumps in the first place. I think greed and stupidity. Oh, usually my main motivation. So there I was back. This is nineteen ninety two. And I was doing a series for teenagers. Scary series called fear street. We were killing off teenagers every book, and a my enders came to me and said, you know, no one has ever done a scary book series for seven to twelve year olds we should try one. And I said, no, I don't want to that's the kind of business. Goosebumps. Right. And then they talked me into it. And we, you know. Luckily, no one ever listens to me. And we brought out a few and they just took off. It was some kind of weird crazy miracle. Well, I I wanna say you are responsible for getting young men to read a long before you know, any any Harry Potter author came along. Yes. Well, ninety two I you know, it's been twenty six years of goosebumps. And I'm very proud when we started writing these books, we figured girls would read them. We never really figured boys. The the ruins children's publishing was girls. Read and boys. Don't. Yeah. And then when goosebumps came out the fan mail started coming in and it was fifty percent from boys we had boys and girls. So I'm very proud of that very proud of all the all the kids that we, you know, the main point of goosebumps visit to terrify kids, get them to read. Well, and you do it with compelling stories that they can relate to how do you do that? I that's my basic mental level. Here's. Well, I mean, I this is we're talking to RL Stein, the creator of goosebumps, and we're also celebrating goosebumps to on Blu Ray, tea and DVD which is out now with bonus features, and it's really come a long long way. But you kind of missed my generation, but I remember being that boy who didn't wanna read I wanted to do. And it wasn't until I got older maybe beyond the goosebumps age that I I really started embracing the joy of reading, and I wish that I had had something like like goosebumps in my day. Well, we were lucky we got up. We got the nineties kids. I love the ninety s we just captured that ninety generation really great thing. Well in goosebumps to can you give us what it's all about. What can we expect to see? And is it good for the whole family? Yeah. Basically, it is a lot of my early readers like in their thirties. Now right neighboring their kids. So we get the thirty five year olds. And we get the seven year olds we have to audiences for the film. So the film really is for the whole family, and it's about mainly sloppy. The dummy comes to life, and then brings all of Halloween to life all the pumpkins. Jack lanterns all the costumes in the store all the witch costumes that ghosts brings everything to life and terrorizing a town in these three kids have to find a way to stop sloppy RL Stein is with us and. I hope it doesn't offend our local hero Darcy Lynn who just won the America's got talent for being a ventriloquist. I don't know. I some people. I don't know why. I don't really get it. Ventriloquist's? Dummies just scary. Just funny. People are terrified by I get so much mail saying, oh, I'm terrified of dolls. Now. I'm terrified of dummy. Our our kids that you're writing too with goosebumps series RL Stein is with us on NewsRadio one thousand Katie. Okay. Are they are they better critics than than those who are in the adult world. Or are they worse? Critics. They're very good. Chris very honest. Okay. Here's a letter. I got last week from girl. Okay. Dear RL Stein. You're my second favorite author. That was the whole letter. That was it. Right, there, brutally honest goosebumps to on DVD and Blu Ray, it is out now on NewsRadio one thousand T. Okay. You and I share something in common in that. You are terrified by some of the childhood stories that should have been enchanting. I too was terrified by Pinocchio. And the the other one that really got me was wizard of Oz. I also go to a psychiatrist after seeing wizard of Oz. Would I liked that wouldn't bother me? Nokia was terrifying. Boys turning into donkeys. That was awful. Yeah. That's horrible. And you know, there's that one scene in the original Pinocchio where he's a wooden puppet any falls asleep with his feet on the stove. And he burns his feet off. Yeah. I think my mother read that to me when I was like three or four years old. Terrified. But do you think that's my horror career? I think I was gonna say did that inspire you to? Yeah. RL Stein is with us. He's a delight. And so is the goosebumps series. And again, if you're if you're if you had a mom like minded always trying to get us to read always trying and I'm I'm thankful. She did. Because if I wasn't a very good reader. I wouldn't be a very good radio guy RL Stein. Well, I think that's true. I I was a comic book freak when I was a kid. I didn't read books I stack of comic books that I read and I didn't really read until my mom drop me off at our local library and a librarian greeted me at the door. And she said, Bobby. I know you like comic books. I have something else. You might like. And she took me over to a shelf of Ray Bradbury story. Oh, and I read those I couldn't believe how wonderful. They were so creative in a magic all twist endings. And Ray Bradbury..

But I bet a lot of those legislators especially in the larger metropolitan areas like Oklahoma City and Tulsa are hearing a lot about consolidation because they're tired of seeing our legislators come up with more and more money to throw at education, and nobody is talking about conserving. Nobody's talking about consolidating districts. It is absolutely irresponsible that we have over one hundred school districts, but only seventy seven counties. I'm not saying we have to consolidate every body, but some of those districts, I think needs to be consolidated down to a county by county basis. That's where most of our expenses are going. We are top heavy as a state because we pay for so much administration. And you've heard me talk about it before. I don't guess there's any need to rehash it. But if they do if some of those legislatures do grow a pair and start talking about it and start doing it. You're not gonna hear your argument for me. I don't think they are as in the pockets of the teachers unions as some of our other politicians in a video on his Facebook page. Oklahoma. Congressman Mark Wayne Mullen earlier today, explain why he sporting a beard these days. He calls it his border beard, and he says he won't shave it off until we secure the border. He said he got a call from constituent after a televised interview who said he should lose the beard Mullen said that's why he wanted to explain why he's not shaving and he'll trim it. But he won't shave it off until the border is secure good for him the border beard. I like that. I wonder how many other congressmen are going to be inspired to hop on on with them. And did you hear how Trump was firing back at his critics? He paid a visit to the border and while he was down there. He was talking about his critics who say that we shouldn't be. So medieval by building a wall between two countries. And he said, well, if the wall is medieval, so is the wheel there are some things that work, and you know, what wheel works, and so does the wall. He said he's open to the idea of declaring a national emergency to build the wall. If he's unable to strike a deal with Democrats to fund the construction and reopen the government. But you see like I said earlier if he does. Declare national emergency. And he finds the money and defense or somewhere else and start building his wall. Then reopened the government and the Democrats come back and say, oh, no, no, no, no. We don't want you to do and stop it again. Well, then the onus is on the Democrats. They would get the blame for not allowing the government to reopen. April one thousand star one thousand NewsRadio one thousand Katie. Okay. It's friday. So we like to cut loose and have a little fun. And you know that goosebumps series of scary books for kids. You may have read some of them yourself. Goosebumps too is out on DVD. Thi this coming Tuesday, creator of the series are Elstein is joining us now. And I've always wanted to ask you this are L what is the prime? What was the primary motivation for creating the whole franchise in the first place. I think greed and stupidity. Mesko usually my main motivation. So there was. You know, I was back. This is nineteen ninety two and I was doing a series for teenagers. Gary series called seer street. We were killing off teenagers every book. A my enders came to me and said, you know, no one has ever done a scary book series for seven to twelve year olds we should try one. And I said, no, I don't want to that's the kind of business. Goosebumps. Right. And then, but they talked me into it. We never really figured voice. The the ruins children's publishing was girls. Read and boys. No. Yeah. And then when goosebumps came out the fan mail started coming in and it was fifty percent from boys we had boys and girls. So I'm very proud of that very proud of all the all the kids that we, you know, the main point of goosebumps isn't a terrified kids get them to read. Well, and you do it with compelling stories that they can relate to how do you do that? I that's my basic mental level. Can you hear me? Well, I this is where we're talking to RL Stein, the creator of goosebumps, and we're also celebrating goosebumps to on Blu Ray, t and DVD which is out now with bonus features, and it's really come a long long way. But you kind of missed my generation, but I remember being that boy who didn't want to read I wanted to do, and it wasn't until I got older maybe beyond the goosebumps age that I I really started embracing the joy of reading, and I wish that I had had something like like goosebumps in my day. Well, we were lucky we got up. We got the ninety kids. I love the ninety s we just captured that ninety s generation really great thing. Well in goosebumps to can you give us what it's all about. What can we expect to see? And is it good for the whole family? Yeah. Basically, it is is you know, a lot of my early readers like you see in their thirties. Now. Right, right. Neighboring their kids. So we get the thirty five year olds. And we get the seven year old we have to audiences for the film. So the film really is for the whole family. And it's about mainly sloppy. The dummy you comes to life, and then brings all of Halloween to life all the pumpkins. The Jacka lanterns all the costumes in the store all the witch costumes that ghost brings everything to life and terrorizing town in these three kids have to find a way to stop sloppy RL Stein is with us and. I hope it doesn't offend our local hero Darcy Lynn who just won the America's got talent for being a ventriloquist. I don't know. I some people. I don't know why. I don't really get it. Ventriloquist's dummy scary. Right, there, brutally honest goosebumps to on DVD and Blu Ray, it is out now on NewsRadio one thousand Katie. Okay. You and I share something in common, and that you were terrified by some of the childhood stories that should have been enchanting. I was terrified by Pinocchio. And the the other one that really got me was wizard of Oz. I go to a psychiatrist after seeing wizard of odd. I like that one didn't bother me. Nokia Kyo is terrifying. Boys turning into donkeys that was awful. Yeah. It's horrible. And you know, there's one scene in the original Pinocchio where he's a wooden pop it and he falls asleep with his feet on the stove. And he burns his feet off. Yeah. I think my mother read that to me when I was like three or four years old. Terrified. But do you think that's my horror career? I think I was gonna say did that inspire you to? Yeah. RL Stein is with us. He's a delight. And so is the goosebumps series. And again, if you're if you're if you had a mom like minded always trying to get us to read always trying and I'm thankful she did. Because if I wasn't a very good reader. I wouldn't be a very good radio guy RL Stein. Well, I think that's true. I I I was a comic book freak when I was a kid. I didn't read books. I had a big stack of comic books that I read, and I didn't really read until my mom drop me off at our local library and a librarian greeted me at the door. And she said, Bobby. I know you like comic books. I have something else. You might like. And she took me over to a shelf of Ray Bradbury story. Oh, and I read those I couldn't believe how wonderful. They were so creative in a magic all twist endings. And Ray Bradbury. I really turned me into a reader, well, I can imagine. So and I also can see where that led to your writing style. Goosebumps series are Elstein thanks for joining us on NewsRadio one thousand K T O K goosebumps too is out on DVD tea, and that will be on Tuesday on NewsRadio. Okay..
