"Exactly. How about this? Are you gonna hate YouTube on TV when there is no YouTube? I think I might, you know? All right, that's what I like. If northwestern wins this game, it's going to be second in the Big Ten tournament, and if it loses, it's going to be 9th. That's hilarious. Dude, second versus 9th B is based on one game that's all you need to know about the Big Ten. Rutgers northwestern south bubble team in this situation. Rutgers is the other bubble team. The only other game I didn't really account for here would highly advise, particularly if you listen to our Friday segment when we evaluated those Big Ten resumes. I would have Rutgers unquestionably out of the field if it does lose this home game against northwestern. That's your bubble recap. Thoughts takeaways on any of that stuff GP. Cam wintering winter having back to back buzzer beaters is awesome. I mean, he literally might have flipped Penn State's entire season. Like if he doesn't make those shots, they'd be on definitely on the wrong side of the bubble right now. He makes them, and I think they're definitely on the right side of the bubble. Right now. I know that at some point last week on in psych college basketball, CBS Sports Network. I said I didn't think Michigan would make the NCAA tournament. But I could have changed my mind by Friday. I think you did. And if you didn't, that's on me. I was wrong. But I thought we agreed to it, but I could be wrong. Did you mention, and you mentioned northwestern could be the two seat or the 9, a little bit similar situation ACC final Saturday of the regular season. Miami could have, I mean, pick could have won a share of the ACC title, but because Pitt lost it Miami pits now the 5 seat, I believe, in the ACC tournament, Virginia and Miami are co ACC champs. You mentioned a lot of bubble tea. Did you mention bubble team North Carolina? I didn't because I was saving that was the one that was like, I figured you might want to get to that on your own little thing. Or told us it was going to happen and it did and well, if we're talking bubble teams, this seems like the appropriate place to talk about North Carolina. Or maybe not even. Maybe not even, 'cause what do we describe as a bubble team? It's a team with a realistic shot to still build an at large resume. Is that more or less the definition of a bubble team? Like you're right there. Is North Carolina still a bubble team? Is there any way North Carolina can get an at large bid to the NCAA tournament now? I think I'm not saying it's going to happen. I had to talk about this in studio and headquarters on Saturday night. If Carolina, let me bring up this bracket here. If Caroline, because it's got a phase Virginia, if it moves along, bring it up the brackets. If you and C and by the way, not going to send this over to you, put this on the screen for the folks to see. If we're going to have our conference tournament preview episode just like we did a season ago. So be on the lookout for that. We got them coming for you Monday and Tuesday. ACC regrettably included. So the ACC tournament bracket. Right now, UNC is the 7th seed. It will need to be BC or Louisville. Then it will need to beat Virginia. Then it will need to be most likely Clemson or NC state to do that. It would be into the ACC title game. If it beats Virginia and then beats Clemson or NC state and really NC state would be the team you'd prefer at that point, I guess, from a resume perspective. I actually don't know if it would be the difference between quad one or quad to one. I looked it up. If you're North Carolina, you now want the only quad one opportunity available to you at that point would be a game within C state. You need those two, if you get two more quad victories, and then you play competitively and lose that Saturday night to say duke or Miami. Then I think we can actually debate it, but they have to get to that point. Anything short of that and get the hell out of here. And I don't think they're going to get there. We're done. We're done with this. So we brought leaky black on in the preseason. You see what happened. The podcast went podcast again. Yeah, honestly, if you're an SID, you should never let one of your players come here again. I mean odds are we will not even invite them or want them. But in the off chance that we do politely reject our request because it has gone terribly for North Carolina. By the way, Caleb loved three of 12 from the field zero of 6 from three. I saw you tweet when he missed. I said, you'd rather have RJ Davis. It's not even arguable. Anyone that has followed Carolina particularly Carolina fans? No, they've watched over the past two years with the exception of, you know, Caleb loved going bonkers last year in the tournament. RJ Davis has been the better big play big moment player when that has actually materialized for you and see. It's not even close. I agree with you. I agree with you. The problem, of course, is that, you know who disagrees with you and who should be taking that shot? Caleb love. Caleb love is taking that shot. I knew he was taking a shot. And it wasn't even close. I think we both took the over on 30% shooting from the field on Friday's episode. Kate of love, 25% from the field. I was wrong. He was under. As you just, so we laid out like worst case scenario from Memphis. Let's lay out best case scenario for North Carolina. That's basically them picking up two quadrant one wins on their way to the championship game. It puts them at 9 and 12 in the first two quadrants with three quadrant one wins. Lose there. Let's say because if you win there, conversation's over, you're not a man at qualifier. Lose there. Probably 9 and 13 in the first two quadrants with three quadrant one wins. That might, it might. Maybe, I'm not rolling it out. just 90 seconds touch on this topic? Because I have not thought about it, but I'm thinking about it in real time since you brought up the other quad one quad two. How do we feel about

"It's been three months? It's a problem. They're not good. We're not saying they're not good. We're just saying that's something worth pointing out. Now, in fairness to them, it is possible Maryland moves into the AP poll on Monday. And then that date gets moved up to January 22nd because they'd be Maryland on January 22nd. But as of this moment, it's November 25th Gonzaga. They need to be saved. Okay, on that note, I think we touched on all this, man, 55 minutes, and we got more to get to. I didn't check this morning. Carolina's still got a quad one win. Did that change overnight? Carolina owns a quadrant one win over Virginia, but there is a scenario where that could change in time because right now, Virginia is 28th in the net. Oh, this is gonna be so good. Okay, let's map this out. What do we need to happen here? We need Virginia to lose. Oh God. We're going to guess. I'm going to say, because of the way you said, I will blindly say the way you said that as Louisville, Florida state and some order. It's local and Clemson both at JP J oh yeah, I know. They're not going to watch those games. Are they? If they drop to Louisville, that's going to become a quad three win. Okay? Because losing a losing to Louisville is a quad 17 loss. It's hard to recover from that. And we also made a rule already that you can't lose a little of them go to the NCAA tournament. So that would eliminate them. That would eliminate them from the bracket. So big game for Virginia coming up on Tuesday. But if they were to lose it or how about this, if they were just not performed well, they could still slip out of the top 30 and then Carolina back at zero choir one wins. It's funny how these things happen though. They caught went for 11 and 6 in that game had three turnovers and four fouls. If I told you that was the case, you would have been like, they're not winning, but RJ Davis had 16 and ten. That's ten rebounds for guard RJ Davis. Pete Ann said 22, apparently Hubert Davis gave him a pack of lemon Oreos and he housed it. I actually haven't read the story yet, but that's a great little detail get there. I forget the reporter who got it. But shouts to you. Passed along and I want to properly credit. In fact, I will before the podcast is over. Le manors, who would have thought, I thought it was more about Virginia than Carolina though. I mean, yes, you wouldn't see remains like the buzziest bubble team, but Virginia just going back to the end of the duke game, and it won, but it has just been it won the game, but since that moment essentially, it could have easily lost and it's been, it's been shaky since. But credits Carolina, it gotta win. It's still in the mix. I lost there and they're done. What else around the weekend piqued your interest? Well, ACC now has zero teams in the top 30 at Ken Tom. So that's a problem. I'm pretty sure that's a first, by the way. To be this deep in February and have zero top 30 teams. I mean, honestly, either duke Carolina or Virginia is always top 30. They're often all top 30. They're off. They're usually top ten. So yes, this has never happened. Kansas is sitting alone atop the big 12 standings after beating West Virginia while Texas lost at Baylor, so the jayhawks are now just a win away from what would be Bill 17th. Big 12 title in 20 years at KU. Check this out. And we talked about this before, so we don't need to hammer it home, but it's just, it's interesting. Mike's coach duke for 42 years. He is widely considered the goat of college basketball coaching. 13 ACC regular season titles, 13 Mike krzyzewski, 13 conference titles in 42 years at duke. Bill self is about to be 17. Conference titles in 20 years. At Kansas. Less than half the time and four more conference championships than the guy who was considered the goat. And it's not like John calipari doing this in conference USA or mark for you doing this in the West Coast conference. This is the freaking big 12. And Bill stealth is about to go 17 of 20. Big 12 titles. What are we even talking about here? What are we talking about here? Oh, by the way, I'm ready to update it. I think if I gotta turn into ballot right now, Bill sells my national coach of the year. Lost 6 of his top 8 scores, including two first round draft picks. And now he's sitting here with 5 more quadrant one wins than anybody else, a total of 15, projected as a number one seed. Really is just one more win or one more Texas loss away from an outright Bigfoot title, which would be his 13th in 20 years. Right now Bill sells my coach of the year? I agree with you. I'd have Shaka smart sitting at that table. I'd have Kelvin Sampson. And I would have Mick cronin hello UCLA first outright PAC 12 regular season title. In ten years, thanks to the win on the road on Sunday on

"Tar hills are now 6 and 11 in the first two quadrants. Couldn't help but notice Caleb love RJ Davis combined 9 of 30 from the field. That's obviously not good enough. And when we talk about North Carolina, we've been talking about them all season. Among the reasons they were pre season number one in the AP poll, it was bring back four starters from a national championship team and then I had Pete Nance and Pete ants can be Brady manic. And it's just, I'm not putting this on Pete Nance. All of it, but he's not Bernie mannik. And that's been clear for a while. He was one of two from three in this game. And he's now shooting 28% from three. That's not Bernie Manning would never. It's not a Brady manic, but I saw this tweeted out and I wasn't able to watch every possession. And he stayed at what? Three turnovers in this game? That's also on Carolina's defense for not inducing that. There was just real I'm bringing up the box right here, GP. That's three turnovers. Three? So it says as much as that as it is anything with what you're getting to, and I know you know that, but that's rare, rare stuff, three turnovers in a game. Also was a major factor. Here's the thing though, with North Carolina. This is crazy to even be in this position, February 19th, and you're pre season number one, and you have zero quadrant one wins. That's insanity. As noted on one of the podcasts last week, there's only 18s because wake forest at some point gained a quadrant one win. Just 'cause the number shifted. So heading into this weekend, there were 8 schools from in a power conference without a quadrant one win. And it's North Carolina in 7 schools that clearly aren't going to the NCAA tournament. And North Carolina still has a chance. I know it seemed wild, but they're not that far from the right side of the bubble. 6 and 11 in the first two quadrants with an O one 9 record and quadrant one. So you get two losses in quadrant two. Nothing in quadrant three, nothing in quadrant four. And the rest of the schedule, it's equal parts simple. And. Filled with opportunity. What I mean by that is on Wednesday they're at Notre-Dame. I guess nothing on the road is simple simple, particularly for this team, but you should be able to handle Notre-Dame. I mean, Mike bray had announced he's not going to be the coach anymore in the middle of the season. If you can't beat that team, you don't deserve any of the stuff you're trying to get. After that, you get Virginia at home on Saturday. According to Ken palm, be favored in that game, at least based on the numbers right now. Then it's at Florida state, foreign states terrible. So you should be able to handle that. If you're a legitimate NCA tournament team, you should be able to handle that. And then the regular season finale inside the Dean Smith center against duke. Ken pom has the tar heels favorite in each of the next four regular season games. And based on the current net numbers. And as we've illustrated, they can change and with it the circumstances change. But based on the current numbers, right now, as of this minute, if North Carolina were to go for no in these next four, which again, according to Kevin will be favored in all four, they would enter the ACC tournament 8 and 11 in the first two quadrants with two quadrant one wins. That'd be heading into the ACC tournament. So they'd be three games below 500 in the first two quadrants with no additional losses. For some context, right now, and I think Jerry's got a Jerry palm has to update his bracket, maybe Monday morning, but as of Sunday Night, the last team in Jerry's bracket is Texas a and M and they're two games above 500 in the first two quadrants, but they have two quadrant four losses, which are like not technically, but they're like double losses. If you have a quad or four laws, there's like a double walls. So North Carolina still has a chance. As bad as they've been on season and as hopeless as it must seem right now, if you're a Carolina fan, you just watch your team, squander a lead and lose to an in state rival to remain winless in quadrant one, they can still get to the NCAA tournament fairly reasonably. Do you think they'll do it? Well, do you, 'cause I think did I ask you a week ago or 9 days ago and you said Kentucky know you and CS wasn't that your verdict then? Yeah, and now I would say Kentucky, yes, obviously Kentucky's one, two nice games since then. We'll get to that. And I think I would steal ever so slightly. You just can't quit this team. I would still ever so slightly say north Carolina is going to get there. I think Kentucky, I feel better, this time last week I felt better about North Carolina than Kentucky. Now I feel better about Kentucky than North Carolina, but I still, if I had to bet, I would bet on North Carolina still getting there. Somehow, some way. UNC's last 6 games, here we go. One point loss at home to pit. 6 point loss at duke and just in an unappealing game for Carolina duke. 7 point loss that felt like more at wake completely handled Clemson

opinion informed perspectives and expert data driven commentary on breaking news Welcome to Bloomberg opinion on Bloomberg radio bring you news comments and insights from Bloomberg opinions worldwide team of editors and columnists I'm your host June grosso This week is progressive economic policy making dead As we've seen from Congress a lot of the ways they want to tackle inflation is sort of by creating more inflation in a way of giving people money It's understandable because people are more electorally inclined but ultimately mom Chelsea is the way to control inflation Also on the show what the Biden administration is doing to help America finally move past the COVID-19 pandemic We don't think about our ventilation or HVAC system is very often It was on everyone's radar but has become a thing that has dropped off the map I would say as we've moved into this next phase of the pandemic Plus how department stores can modernize their operations online When you split things when you introduce more complexity it just makes it work less well It's more cumbersome and the danger is that the consumer sees the joins But first the price of gas has climbed at a record pace in recent weeks White House press secretary Jen Psaki points to the war in Ukraine as a primary cause A large driver of these inflationary numbers from the last these monthly numbers were from energy prices And we have seen the increase happen as a result of Russia's invasion of Ukraine Bloomberg opinion columnist Liam denning argues it's increasing people's desire to become more energy independent Just give us an update on the state of the energy markets right now So the energy markets are undergoing the sort of stress test that I don't think any of us have really seen in our lifetimes you know in the past we've had energy shocks What we're seeing now with this situation Russia and Ukraine is not just disruption to energy markets but outright fragmentation We've all grown up with globalization and that applies to energy as much as anything else And so what we've seen since Russia attack Ukraine is not simply price spikes and that sort of thing although we have seen those but fundamental breaks companies withdrawing from Russia altogether The U.S. imposing energy sanctions Europe not joining in on those because it really relies on Russian energy to a far greater degree than we do in the U.S. But laying out a plan to essentially get itself off dependence on Russian energy exports inside of the next 7 or 8 years So what we're seeing is not just disruption but outright fragmentation How will this all affect the EU's attempt to address climate change Well it will affect the EU's attempt and the wider world So looking at the EU in particular this divide between the EU and Russia on energy had been happening in the background anyway There had been various spats in the past of course around gas exports But the big one for me is the carbon border adjustment mechanism which EU finance ministers appear to have actually agreed this week and that's essentially a tax on carbon intensive imports coming into the EU It's a way effectively for the EU to protect itself as it imposes a cost on carbon within its own economies it doesn't want economies from outside the area undercutting it with exports that don't price in carbon Now Russia was particularly in the crosshairs of this because the Russian economy is something like four or 5 times as energy intensive as the EU economy Russian steel or any other kind of industrial exports to Europe were always going to be hit by this carbon border adjustment mechanism And that in itself would represent a fundamental shift in the global energy trade It comes back to this issue of globalization you know one of the ways we have enjoyed relatively cheap energy for the past 7 or 8 decades marked by the occasional price spike is globalization It's enabled us to diversify our supplies it's enabled us to drive down the cost of technologies And this applies as much to renewables as it does to oil and gas If you reintroduce trade friction in the form of one in tariffs and at the other end just outright sanctions.

"To the final four off the beaten path a little bit. So somebody, I would say below a 5 seat. Who's below a 5 C that's got kind of a. There's always going to be a few that make a run of this sweet 16. We know that. Elite, they'll probably be one. Is there somebody? You're saying somebody 5 or below. 5 or below that can legitimately, who's your pick? Arkansas for sure can make a run. I think there are four seats. Hard to say. Therefore. There are 5. There are 5. Definitely can play them. Below a 5. Give me below 5 that could actually make a little bit of a run here. I'm going to go, I'm going to go with Carolina, believe it or not, because I think they got marquette. I think they could beat a Baylor team and if they don't have prior and they get in foul trouble, I think they could take them down. And then a UCLA, a saint Mary's in Indiana, I just feel like now I know they didn't do well in the tournament, but they played well enough to get and they have the talent. Guys, they have top ten, 15 overall talent. They have experience. Their guards RJ Davis is playing his ass off lately. I'm going to go with North Carolina, believe it or not, as an 8 seed that I think could make a run to an elite 8 or thereabouts. I think you have to look at some of these teams where the leagues were so deep that they beat each other up and they may have a lower seed than they're actually good. I think Ohio State is that type of a team. They have a great player in EJ Liddell, say advance past Loyola, they can beat Villanova, especially with Chris holtmann's pedigree playing Villanova, and Chris holtman hasn't lost a first round game in the NCA tournament. I like Ohio State is being one of those teams that if they win the first one they can do it. I think Houston clearly can make a run I've stated that. I think you're out of your mind there. Honestly, I think you're absolutely out of your mind with Houston. Arch, do you know there are two best players or two of their best players aren't playing, right? They're out for the year. I'll be honest with you. I watched them today against I watched them today against Memphis, total domination. But it's like a mid major league. I mean, come on, like they both get beat up on the they both beat up in the sisters of the poor all year..

"What she can. So then look at me. You know, as people normally do, they'll look at the guy and ask the question. And I'm like, no, no, no, you're looking at the wrong person, ask her to question the same thing here. They last like a certain type of tool. Do you have that tool? I'm like, I got no. Listen, you give me a toolbox. I can buy the screwdriver and a hammer, anything other than that. A wrench, maybe, but certain types of wrenches. I got no clip. I'm with you. All right. So we've gone through Syracuse to me just kind of slowly kind of falling. Neither these need the biggies like that. Carolina, Carolina is the one again this year that's a little bit interesting. New head coach, Hubert Davis, to replace his Roy Williams and go transfer portal. They got it back a couple guards that are talented. Sophomores now, Caleb blow RJ Davis, they had some guys out last night against Notre-Dame Dawson Garcia's hurt. Their thin from COVID, but they haven't beaten anybody all year rob. They're not a tournament team in my opinion today. Now does the tournament selection committee put them in kiss their Carolina and you need an HCC team rather than duke? Maybe, but they certainly may be back door in their way in. That's pretty crazy too because of the history and just the money they have and the tradition. That's pretty inexplainable to me that Carolina is not a top 15 team year in Europe. I do not. Then the other one that's been down so there's two that I think you can put in a similar box maybe. I don't know if it's fair, you tell me if I'm wrong here and I'm giving him too much credit for this, but little and interesting state have both been under an NCAA investigation cloud for the last four or 5 years. And it finally ended with NC state. But I felt like it affected those coaches a little bit recruiting wise, Kevin Keith has been there for about 5 years and dealt with it since he got there. Chris Mack has dealt with it for the last few years and it's just been such a mess at Louisville over the last probably 5, 6 years more than that even with patino. And, you know, Chris, he made some changes to his staff. So it's clear like they didn't have Louisville level talent last year or the year well, I don't want to say the year before they're pretty good. But I don't know. What do you make of Louisville and empty state? I think the NCAA thing is totally fair, Louisville has been a disaster with that. But again, much like Carolina, the tradition is so good there. I just think the patino was for all one. Everyone to final fours and I don't know. That one doesn't make sense to me as much either. NC state has always kind of been the third school in that triangle of Carolina dude. That's a tough job. I said.
