"I'm going to start you with a couple of just quick hitter ideas from around the globe. Okay I'll Lewis from Tucson writes. I'm listening to the latest open floor and Joe Suggestion Shen for the most dedicated award sounds awesome. Now we're talking about ways to honor commemorate David Stern but Lewis points out that it could be simplified ride because Joe's idea reminds him of the Walter Payton Man of the year award in the. NFL is never going to get the same publicity or clicks like the MVP does does but there is a dedicated fan base. Who Really Cares about that award and more importantly the players in the running for it really seem to care as well I think the NBA man? The end of the year award would be the perfect way to honor Mr Stern Lewis. You did it. You cracked the code. I'm in it's the NBA Man of the year award. Michael Are you. UN down. I mean this is basically what we discussed on the on last week's episode but it's just cleaner called the David Stern man of the year award. It's perfect right. I love it yeah This is really interesting to see how people bullet engaged with it and who would be a candidate and So yeah I'm a big Fan. I'm into awesome work. I love when the open floor globe helps us refine idea idea an idea on the fly and we get to the right outcome at the end. It's part of the brainstorming process. We love it all right another idea from JC from Franson. He's coming at Hugh Michael. I love this too. He writes just a note regarding the change that Michael proposed if he was commissioner for a day in which you would get rid of all basketball interference terrence Michael. Don't you realize you would have robbed the basketball community of an iconic moment last year. Kawai Leonard's game seven shot against the sixers sixers. There was four balances. Someone could have risen up like Ben Simmons and knocked the ball off the rim before the second bounce Michael Michael I know you respect that moment. So don't you WanNa reconsider your idea. Michael it's a great point. I hadn't considered this but you would be changing being a huge moment in NBA history with your rule. Change going forward. Are you still in favor of getting rid of basket interference. I mean Jay Save it just brings up a great point. I'm not changing my stance on this at all but that was a great moment in NBA. History I will say though that imagine if everyone was allowed to just crash the rim after the first bounce like how entertaining would that be. Who knows you say? Ben Simmons Men's gets to it who knows mark assaults rate there. Marcus could have been the hero would Joel Embiid of even gone out to contest knowing that he could have hung around at the rim to Swat a potential bouncing dancing ball away like there's so many different scenarios that could have happened had Had the rules been different. So I I see Jaycees point I love his point I wouldn't want to change that moment at all but I am just saying you know there's a reason also that a ball has not bounced on the rim like seventeen times gone in to win when a game seven of a playoff series before so. Let's not overreact to that one moment where they'd say yeah. I think you just want to bring slam ball to the NBA. Right were you just want just rim attacks constantly on all bouncing shots. I can't let against that. That sounds pretty fun. I think we need to think through the specifics on this one. Now we've got on an email from Scott in Singapore who said he loved the segment on being commissioner for a day and he had a whole bunch of different ideas I want to highlight one of his though and I think it it was actually the most the least radical idea he wants to implement phoebus unsportsmanlike foul rule. When you just grab a guy not making a play on the ball I think the idea of that row basically is to open up transition opportunities so you get to see more and more highlight level? Place rather than just getting the annoying dead ball now. When guys make that foul I think you know old school people would say oh smart foul smart fouled taken away two points right but if we're looking at it from the entertainment side of the game it definitely makes the NBA worse and so they should institute that You know it's kind of similar to the clear path. Foul I guess but should we be in favor of rule. Changes is that I guess. Open up or or even bring in a continuation idea where if there is like a touch foul and transition. The referees can not to call it until the play continues to see if the guy gets the dunk angling for more open. Play in transition. What do you think? Yeah I mean those fouls I call them the Pablo appreciate Tony Fouls because I didn't I never really noticed them as being such a nuisance until Pablo came into the league. But they're terrible like every single time. Someone is is a possibility ability of the literally the most exciting sequence in the game a fast-break opportunity. It gets broken up by a whistle and a foul like I personally hate it watching during the game and I know Jeff Van Gundy has gone multiple rants about it. I would love to see this rule changed. I'm with you. Let's shift gears here to another question from Brandon end in in L. A.. He writes the Knicks did a very good job signing everyone to partially guaranteed contracts over the summer now is time for New York to follow up and build on the one smart. I think they've done in over a decade and trade away some of those assets and turn them into real talent. The current squad is obviously no good but they had the ability to improve their team for the future or even for the rest of their season. So why haven't made a trade yet and who should be the first Knicks player to get traded so first of all I think you know. They have to trade yet because we haven't gotten to the trade deadline as usually when most activity heavy happens. So that's number one and usually that's where the best value is when you're selling off guys in this scenario is to wait to the last moment and kind of hope that a bidding war emerges merges but I wanNA push back a little bit here on the premise brandon Real quick before I throw it to you Michael Just because I think this idea that. Oh you've got flexible. Vo Contracts with their very movable trade assets it sounds good in theory but I really do think there's a destabilizing element to it in the you know in practice Where you bring all these guys with competing interests you know veterans? Who Don't know where their next situation are going to be? Guys who just took the biggest contract they could find and then expected that they would be traded down the road and it makes for a very difficult developmental culture. It makes it hard for young guys to learn. Feel like they're going to be surrounded by guys guys who are going to be invested in their success and feel like those guys are still going to be. There were three years from now. It's just tough. I feel bad for RJ Barrett being thrust into that situation knowing that a lot of the guys who are teammates. This year aren't going to be his teammates. Two years from now is not healthy is not good so I don't think we should be giving the knicks a lot of credit for this short term contract strategy. Yes it's better than signing terrible players to four year contracts for no reason right but only marginally better not significantly efficiently better. I don't think this summer was even a good salvage from New York now. Michael What say you so. s unwise in Begley recently reported that teams US around the league that call the Knicks about their players or under the impression that they don't want draft picks and future assets which I find fascinating I mean if I were operating the Knicks I would be looking to move guys like Marcus. Well first of all I would be looking to move probably everybody on the roster except RJ Barrett. But I would look be looking to trade guys who I think are on contracts that you could actually get some value for our like Marcus Morris. Sousse shooting like forty eight percent from three and I believe is their leading score Right now guys sue Wayne Ellington three point shooter Reggie Bullock at three point shooters. Someone who a contending team can utilize you know if they are actually interested in upgrading. This year's roster for the sake of I would assume trying to be stable for next season when the following summer. They'll have Max Max cap space and be able to sign someone like Janice Kubo. That's probably probably their thought process. But like I don't I just don't I don't really get that at all. I think you should be trying to get future assets. And if they don't and they wanna go another route I would look to move frank ntilikina Dennis Smith Kevin Knox even Mitchell. Robinson may be if you can try to get the players who are more win now players. But I just if you're really if you're if you're putting all your eggs in the basket to try to To try to score big in Free Agency Z.. Two Summers from now. You're definitely going about it all wrong and you haven't learned anything from this past summer. That sounds about right. I'm not sure they have learned anything at all. I would be trying to trade the front office I think at this point. I'd be thinking about it if I was ownership and I know that's just sitting at back to square one but that's what I would do if I was doing I would be less concerned about trying to squeeze out whatever value from these Players who in most cases aren't actually that good or that valuable and I would be more focused on. Let's get in a high level executive who could turn this thing around and that's probably going to have to wait until the summer so I guess my my general takeaway is. I don't think this trade deadline is going to be bringing the Knicks a lot of assets. I think it's going to be more like a garage sale than anything else. I think that there are some. You know Knicks cast-offs especially Marcus Morris. Ars who could change the trajectory slightly of a playoff team. But I don't think it's GonNa be a big time impact maker and I think every single player on that roster should should be available in trade with the exception of RJ Barrett so that includes Mitchell Robinson who understand has a lot of legions of fans their New York City but is really still struggling to become a night tonight. NBA Player so hope. That was dark enough for you brandon. I got nothing nice to say about the Knicks. All right a little bit of a lighter question here from Nikki writes in my the only person who gets more hyped. Up for Great Defensive Plays Than Offensive Brilliance. Michael how about you. I will say say I love defense and whenever I'm watching a game on Dvr a majority of the time. I'm rewinding play is because I want to do appreciate something that a team did or players on the defensive end that I probably didn't catch the first time around so I love defense. I also so thank you know watching offense as probably more of an entertaining proposition but I can see the value in both. I've always always loved chase down blocks. There was a great story years and years ago by Jonathan Abrahams. On sort of the art of the Chase Down Block and you know is focused around Lebron James I think he called him like the king of chase down block at that time it was a Nicolas Batum specialty. was the chase down block. So I went every washed all his blocks. It's Charles. How many chase downs that? He had the long arms. That loping stride in transition he was just like perfectly built for it. I think I don't know if I go post or dunk chase down block. If I had to choose one it's really really close because I love the poster dunks. I'm real deep into the The Dunk contest game. So anytime. There's someone who just like you know really get someone hard excites me but chase down blocks. Incredible it kind of goes back to like Lebron. Will we say Lebron signature play entire career is the block. I mean I think I would do it. I was about to bring this up and to kind of answer your question in a way do you. You think if Lebron so right after the chase down block a couple of minutes later he had that play where he cut and I think Kyri him from the baseline and he had this potential just like he was about to eviscerate draymond green with the Dunkin instead miss the dunk got fouled laying around on the ground for a few minutes. If he made that dunk doc and one exclamation point. They've definitely going to win the championship. Is that the statement. Play that we all remember. Do we still remember the block. We remember remember both and it just becomes this whole thing like Lebron two-way greatness at his absolute apex. He could do it in every direction you know the highlight play but also the hustle. Play like I think it would be become a duality where you wouldn't be able to remember one without the other. The Drain on Dunk is one of the greatest. What if said MBA history? Yeah I mean Oh my God we were close to maybe a new. Mba logo at that point. If you're Adam silver and you see that happen and that's how how Cleveland's title drought. That's Lebron completes his narrative arc. Do you consider calling Jerry West being broke..

"I mean you have to play better than you did two weeks ago at home but it's if you win that game you essentially control your own destiny in the n._f._c. z. st- and and i think that it's there comes a time where it's either put up or shut up and i think the eagles have obviously reached that point and they they have to get it done and i think that they can but it's going to be tough certainly gonna be tough. Three division games left yeah a specially in the week division that we have question sean. Mcvay gets a ton of love for being good of a coach in a savant aww all this that he is but if sean mcvay is in. I don't know detroit is is he. The same caliber coach is he does it was much of an impact with less talent. Yeah i believe he does and you know i think i think he's a guy who puts stafford and the position to succeed as well as he could. You know detroit. I mean we don't know what kind of revision history would have existed had the mcvay been in charge of team but they have to really really interesting young players in kerryon johnson kennedy golladay who i think would even bigger stars playing for <hes> playing in a better smarter offense than what's being room with that lions team so i think i i think so. I think more more than any other sport coaching in football matters. I think in basketball they're basically just babysitters. There's in baseball you can make an argument because there's a lot of strategy that goes into it and maybe too much hockey whatever but football coaching game plans and schemes can have the biggest effect on whether a team is good bad or whatever yeah i can see that i just it's just an interesting question because quarterbacks always get sort of pushed into this well. We'll get the talent around him situation so that's that's what sort of brought the question up in my head about like oh what kind of talent how much talent effect coaching. I think it does sure but i don't. I don't think guys are either criticized criticized or lauded for having great talent in their in their on their team well. I think you also see a lot of these guys who sort of make a name as quarterback irs specifically who just get lucky because they ha- they happen to be associated with great quarterbacks be at ben mcadoo mcadoo with the packers and aaron rodgers or hugh jackson with andy dalton's development. Andy reid with brett farve a well. I think andy is andy is earned his right but i do think that's certainly the case. How look at everything in philly greg and always do look at this team this year you know with with depot and frank reich gone. The offense is just completely different and it's more talented that i don't think that's it's a coincidence. No i don't either. I think that i think that coaching definitely matters in football more than probably any other sport like you said and also micro should the fired should have been longtime ago by the way best moment of the n._f._l. Season is the marias randall picking off that pass going over going out of bounds basically intentionally and handling the ball to hugh jackson flex. What an unreal you'll move. I mean to have the heaviness to find him on the sideline intercept a pass and then bring it right over to him and hand too and like hugh has no options. No oh nothing you know worst case scenario it on the chin yeah i mean he looks like an idiot regardless and so he just like one of the opposing players on the helmet and congratulates interesting interesting move you down twenty-eight enough. Maybe the greatest thing i've seen in sports this year..

"Belongs. I agree that andrew lock was one of the best prospects coming out of college. If not the best as he moved up the draft board and eventually eventually became the number one overall pick and took over a franchise from peyton manning and let it rather swimmingly. Let's let's be honest. Lock is extremely talented. I just think right now eleven twelve games into the season for most of these teams. He just hasn't hit enough of his games to make me put him up in that top five. It is funny as looking at all these numbers and how muddy the quarterback situation is for really most teams in this league. It's nice to have have a guy like luck for sure. There's there's no doubt about it and that's why it's hard to argue against him. I just think that i need to see a little bit more production in this return to glory all right so at the end of my last segment i gave you the four players i take overlook as for the others all great talents for sure but what i take any of them probably not cam no thanks russell wilson interesting gimme lock golf too. We honestly think the rams would be any worse with luck quarterback. I don't whence i love you carson but the teams just not performing you know i'm happy that looks healthy. This season and the league seems like a more complete place a better brighter more shiny plays in india has a star quarterback and in this case a guy who i believe is the fifth best quarterback in the n._f._l. Andrew lock doc ladies and gentlemen. I rent ladies and gentlemen of the jury listen. I think that time is time was essentially gonna tell the season where zone and that's why i said it last week the n._f._l. Is such a week by week. League where every week the story storylines change depending on the team the player the position <hes> you know guys get guys get anointed positions very quickly and then immediately really fall off just just one week later locks great talent. There's there's no doubt about it. I just think at this point when you look at brady breeze rogers pat mahomes and i would say at this point jared goff and you can say the town around him but the talent exists pretty much. I i mean if you any team no matter what when you when it comes to winning and having good quarterback play you're gonna have talented skill positions around them and it's just it is what it is so i think that golf has as of right now exceeded lock but it's very very close i mean i disagree that the colts offense and the town latinos anywhere near the colts. I also <hes> the ran rather the rams. I also don't think that you know for all the good frank. Reich is doing and i think thinks he's desperately missed in philadelphia along with filippo that he is anywhere near the coach that sean mcvay is i think those two things contribute in large part to mate a golf look better than look and put goffin a better situation than look so look i i wanna. I wanna get go crazy here. Go off the rails last week week and by the way forty three now last week course i talked about how the philadelphia eagles season was over and team ekes out a win over the over the near giant yesterday by the way very similar paths from the eagles and the sixers yesterday both played a new york team both gave up giant offensive <music> outputs in the first half both down nineteen points at one point both come back to win late. I'll take it that's a good day. But where do you think eagles stand right now. What are the chances. I think it's fifty fifty to be perfectly honest. Thanks good i do. I do only only because you really have the two games against the redskins. I pencil in his wins. It all hinges on that game in dallas and i think you have the fifty fifty shot..

"I just it's hard for for me to automatically put him back in. I haven't seen a full season of it in a return to form because he certainly had his moments this season where he's he's struggled gold. I still think if you're looking at a top five as of right now with what everybody's accomplished this year tom brady one drew brees pat mahomes goff and then you have your pick of number five between either philip rivers aaron rodgers guys like that. I think that luck is right on the precipice of being up there. I'd even i'd even say he's. He's surpassed your beloved kirk cousins quarterback rankings. I just think that it's hard for me to dump him right back in there and when she's gone on i think it's interesting that it's my beloved kirk cousins by the way texans are playing the titans right now and <hes> <hes> we had an unprecedented eleven way tie for first place in the bed online <hes> sportsnight postpaid competition this week word word eleven way tie so the tiebreaker is picking to night's monday night game. I have the texans winning twenty four to seventeen in my prediction so one touchdown from the titans they keep the texans off the board and i have got this thing in the bag doesn't feel like that's going to happen. Regardless yeah so i i do believe that the luxury emerged as the top five quarterback in the n._f._l. The stats coupled with the clearly improved colts bear that out to me and let's take a look at the competition who stands in lux sway a top five quarterback in the league. We'll start with the obvious. Drew brees best quarterback in the league right now in my opinion. He's the presumptive m._v._p. Front runner stone for thirty one hundred yards nine touchdowns and the saints offense is potentially the most dangerous in the league at the moment. That's one for me. I've spent entire segments of the show gushing over the remarkable play of chiefs quarterback pat mahomes and for good reason unlike the the season thirty nine year old breeze mahomes still just twenty three and that makes what he's doing all the more impressive passive nearly thirty seven hundred yards and thirty seven touchdowns. He's on that board. He writes his two for me. I'll give you brady three but after that everything gets more more more a lot more muddied cam newton's not a guy when to build my team around ethic luck wilson interesting but the seahawks don't throw the ball. What does that mean i. I don't know it's enough to give me pause. Outtake lock goth is looked great on in that rams offense but i feel like it has to do more of the coaching in the offense of skull players and goth himself. Gimme amy lock whence is tough. It's real tough. He's coming off a major injury. Zone hasn't looked like the same player this year. The homer in me would probably still lean wentz but it's not obvious then there's rogers with special talent regardless of whether or not they're winning. Push comes to shove. I'll take him over. Look so there's four gimme gimme breeze mahomes rogers <music> comes in five. I liked it no matter what carson wentz does still got pepper him in their deserves even though n._j._i._t. I think he does just based on the season he had last year. It's hard coming back from the injuries. Whatever that's not really the point huge out. Lamar miller solidified my my fantasy win for the week. No doubt brees has to always be talked about and he for some reason doesn't get as much love as guys like manning and brady despite putting up the same career numbers and i'd also argued that and i know you know when we had the chargers debate a few weeks ago. Philip rivers is a guy that still gets overlooked for some. Um reason i mean sixty nine percent six point five completion percentage over three thousand yards twenty-six only six. I t's charges or eaten three. They're most likely going to go to the playoffs in the a._f._c. I don't it's hard for me to put him to put luck over rivers when you're talking about that muddied fourth and fifth spot believe me the luck stories great n._f._l. Comeback player of the year for sure and like i said before i'll concede that by the end of the year he's most host likely back in this top five where he belongs..

"A nightly recap. Show check out the leftovers. I can't encourage you enough. It's a great show oh man you're a little interested in the gambling. In the fantasy sports that kind of thing get paid from sean ryan the functional sportsaholic is another show on show and how about the underdog dog sports fantasy our one of our newest shows hosted by aunt yukon josh dun and finally a topic that is really important in sports. Today is mental health talk about it and mental health and sports is hosted by morio and asia. We've got all of these shows numerous others check them out. You'll be happy you did all right. After that heated argument we have been we have been pulled to our separate corners tempers of calm down where okay we are borderline friends again and and we're gonna talk about andrew luck and how he has re emerged as a top five quarterback in the national football league two minutes on the clock st this so look. I will admit i have always been an andrew luck fan. Since the beginning of andrew luck i have been on board captaining the ship and during my time running an n._f._l. Draft site he was quite simply and without question the best quarterback prospect that i've ever come across across in my time evaluating collegiate players look had it all he was big. You know he was surprisingly a surprisingly a good athlete laser accurate smart and he's a gamer and you know what he stays out of trouble and that that has value on its own. It's also endearing that the guy looks like he spends his three times a comic book shop. He is not what you think of when you think face of the franchise superstar quarterback he's just a guy and you couldn't have asked for a better start to the career. He made his pro. He made the pro bowl. I three seasons in the n._f._l. While emerging as one of the best quarterbacks in the league and then injuries sunk their teeth into this is once promising career the train went off the rails a little bit two thousand fifteen was tough tough even without the injury locked in look like himself off. He didn't look confident and september. He sprained his shoulder. Then in november. He lacerated his kidney cut to twenty sixteen. He saw i afraid labor him. During the preseason and injury sort of subsists while finally culminating in shoulder surgery in january surgery ends up causing him to miss the entire hire two thousand seventeen season as well bad luck what's going on. Will we ever have our andrew back but luck finally came in two thousand eighteen healthy and play on the field has been nothing short of a revelation for former eagles offensive coordinator frank reich and the surprising indianapolis colts to this point luck ranks. It's nice and the n._f._l. And passing yards in second touchdowns all the while leading the coastal within one game of the a._f._c. south lead. I'm thrilled to say andrew. Luck is back and he's is better than ever. I will give you this andrew. Luck has most certainly returned to the form that we had seen prior to the disappointing injury and then obviously sitting out entire season but it's hard for me to say that he's back in the top five just yet. The colts are still somewhat underachieving for where they should be. I mean they are a six and five right. I believe if that's if that's that's the case this season in a pretty pitiful division. We're watching two teams in that division. Go at it right now on monday night football with the texans and the titans i also think that he's still turns the ball over a little bit too much for my liking to be considered in that in that top five world i mean granted granted thirty. Two touchdowns in the air is definitely good but at eleven eleven interceptions is tied for i believe fourth in the league right now just behind ryan fitzpatrick ben rothlisberger and the illustrious sam darnold it to me. Luck is most certainly a top ten quarterback and i think as the season goes on he will emerge as a top five quarterback just based on numbers and based on his team most likely making the playoffs out of that division..

"May be something more than just a physical ailment. Maybe i think that plays a a big role. I just think that at a certain point you know like that lottery ticket. There's a certain there's a certain threshold where you know that something isn't going to work and it's not going to be a winner and sometimes you need to cut bait and i think in this situation. I'd love to be wrong. I would love to be for nothing more than to marshall so for for markelle fultz to figure this out and become that guy we want him to be it just to me. Every single setback is bigger and bigger pointing to the negative well. It's worth pointing out today. That news came out just a couple of hours ago. The seventy sixers expect full speed back with the team and resume roll off the bench amen. I really hope so. I really do and by the way you know you're right the the shooting he he hadn't shot a three in ten games and what why did he not shoot a three because he had that three in the corner he was open. He had time to think about it and he embarrassed. I himself and he's terrified to do that again. It's the same reason ben simmons doesn't shoot a three by the way and nobody's saying we should trade ben simmons. I mean no of course not but there's plenty of people who clown on ben simmons who get frustrated by. I'm one of them yeah. I'm one of them too but i also understand that even without that he has value now as folsom more difficult fit in this situation. Yes he is is he better than t._j. Mcconnell yes. He is of course though so regardless of the situation. The team is better with false. I just i don't understand the basic tenet of this argument is is quite simple. Is the team better if you trade marquel foltz for a second round pick. Are you better yes or no i think i know you're not better at this. Why didn't i do you it. What's the point does chris all the values. The values not going to change the value could j of course not. It's not going to change because i don't not ever gets better so at this point given to somebody else. Let him be their project. I want to see how it plays out. I want and i certainly want to see what happens this week for sure for the you know yeah. It's going to be really telling and i think you're gonna get your wish more than i am and thank god because that's just for the best of every one but you know and i i will admit this if these specialists don't find anything wrong and he's still not willing willing to admit that there might be a psychological element play. I will be on your team but until that time until every avenue is exhausted to solve this problem. I just don't think it makes sense to get rid of a guy who does have immense talent for nothing for no reason for no purpose other then being rid of him sick. We shall let's take our second break. "You're welcome number one yeah you could last a yeah all of that and i think it's the best of both worlds you come into new york you've got a good core you got a good young core you're in new york but you're in brooklyn you can still do you're business you got indoors because everything is everything think about the fact that your devils in the nets fan now they're hard to find those those type of fan couple of weeks about the last month for you guys you're right now they gotta do it on the floor and they ice though sure but you're right you're absolutely right so i listen it's irving in the andre jordan thing it's really amazing all three of them how fast it happened oh by the way so how does this work exactly you can't talker meet with teams until six pm on will take it how much we get yeah i'm of course obviously this stuff was all set up but isn't it funny we had the conversation on friday you asked me do you think anybody's gonna sign right at six i know everyone how at four am round i signed i know who is unbelievable there's also this whole thing so ridiculous that none of this stuff is it's official until what six six saturday right now stupid mbh rules silly on the knicks did sign a guy who punched out his teammate and broke his face so welcome bobby portis rj barrett don't piss them off like dude like the fact the big big joke on the social media with the knicks in a randall and portas another one and i got a what's his face so taj gibson hodge gibson also by the way reggie bullock and they find him in the middle of the night to i i didn't see that but i saw the first three they're they're all the same position that was the big jerry you know dnb eight organization list now i guess it is i mean it's definitely a different game i bet i guess we just assume co i leonard had no interest rate 'cause they can't even afford to pay now i wanna know you there's no way no he wasn't good at that that to me is probably more so than kyrie and kevin durant going to the nets it's the fact that it didn't seem like any bano one nobody was even interest it doesn't seem like it like you would think a guy like kemba walker kemba walker would say hey you know i could be the face of the knicks any wasn't interested or i mean any of these jimmy butler going all right you know i could be v man in new york nope that's what everybody wants to play at the garden tobias harris along i arrived they they won't you wanna play in the garden in another uniform right foot up fifty is what they wanna do which is what they always do i guess they concern going forward is like if the knicks don't build a team through the draft will any body body of significance wanna sign with that it's bad man i mean this is like that's the perception about this whole thing that's the worst part nobody wants that well nobody of significance not other guys took the money in their here 'em but phys dale and perry they got they got their work cut out for him you know they have the try to do what atkinson and sean marks of don't the nets and they have a chance with the young core that they have right now they better season a building season next year all of a sudden next they become more appealing i would think rj berets gotta be a star that's what has now he has to be a story campaign swing and miss feeling she's everything if he's a star the whole spiel around the team in any changes sucks right now kevin durant's tolling or anthony davis i know i think we i think what makes it a little less painful today's we kind of knew as the debt for the last couple of weeks it felt like i felt friday saturday they were momentum building that perhaps they were switching their thoughts and that kyrie in the rams are gonna end up with the next that's what i would start in a raid near yeah and i started to wonder high wall maybe and then all of a sudden you have except remorse or do you think that they knew this you know there's an al buying a car i think they've actually done the research and i know i think they known all along this one of their destination i told you that charles oakley kevin durant instagram post was the worst of the knicks news that would be a you know waves coming in the knicks after i saw the two of them arm in arm in a restaurant is everybody knows evan roberts sleeping in a he posted at eleven pm that he couldn't sleep you were so excited wani emmy posted still up you're one of those we did it again yeah i don't know but he does have a short on yes he did by the way say that he wasn't so sure about the ranting heat in really well because there's lament like he just felt like his whole life it's never happened so he wasn't gonna get himself all jacked up and he's gonna relaxed he's gonna end up going to the knicks some kind of resigned to the fact i didn't i when i talk to me it was more like he was he was worried about the injury in stopping him and joe on same page with granting he posted yesterday gonna go to city field away for they nouncement that he's going to the knicks yeah which is kind of what he was exposed safer forever and for those of us who do have some similar fan bases are part of similar fan base is like the mets we we put quite possibly could have the rookie of the year and the batting title winner yes absolutely over the last time that happened in both all stars i made false false i mean that's unbelievable i tell you after what the mets just went through and what the knicks just went through i mean i had two teams die within a couple of days one another

"Big time. Big night. Are you dreading it? Yep. Yep. Yep. Yep. I mean it should be RJ Barrett. And if that happens like cool. I just got one of the weirdest tweets of all time. I'm sorry, we'll go back to draft know what you're going to say you, did you see this. I know what you're going to say. It would be hot to watch at Casey Smith or LA. Eat little cats umbilical cord. I mean, people, I usually try Darren look normal, I usually try not to, to look at these things. There's no way that someone actually thinks that would be hot, right. Also, I'm Kratz attic, people do that person is probably outside. It was sent the people have their own kid. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Not somebody else's kids and they don't find it. I know especially gusting saying it's would be hot. I have a real problem and I'm creeped out. I'd have a real problem. I'm person is outside of this building right now waiting for me or L A to go get lunch and we might never come back. That is a Twitter egg for you. I don't. Yeah. Off the one. I mean, let's keep the kids off Twitter, because this is the kinda shit going on. Get little cat. Does not need a Twitter account because of this weirdo anyways back to draft draft how New York Knicks fan. How are you? Tonight. I mean they'll draft RJ Barrett as they should it seems like I personally as a very casual basketball fan, college basketball fan never really saw him play. Well, every time I tuned in he was not playing well, but you look at his numbers puts up like twenty one seven assists, and I think a lot of people were saying prior desire on being the messiah like RJ Barrett, was that, dude? So try to take his eye on affect you see that picture phone around Zion, again, all your media attention. The other do just sitting completely lonely at the table. Like I think that's, that's what's going on. That guy is a perfectly good prospect himself. But everyone's looking over at Diane, and I hope that, that's just to the max with RJ Barrett. Like if you're if you're on Duke basketball, this year you were getting overlooked. You're getting you're getting outshone by buys ion so I'm hoping that, like he's actually going to be an under the radar type pick but. Also, everything has gone wrong for the Knicks every, so like let's buckle up for this as well. Who's the kid? Daria something or other who is now. Creeping up the he's getting Dame Lillard comparisons. And that, by the way, worked out for everybody does things like the comparisons are always. So I understand why people do it because they do it in all sports in an NFL, but it's way more prevalent in the NBA and I just they never paint out to be nominated. It's usually like you're the, the same type height or you know, you both have a long wingspan you both can shoot. They're like, yeah. Dearest garlina. See, however tall and six two six six two. Yeah. I mean that, that, that's probably why I just whatever ten go wrong will go wrong, and that's what's been happening with the Knicks. That's what happened with the lottery. That's what happened with the pelicans and the Lakers getting their picks. That's what happened with a getting traded. It's what's happened with k D's injury. I mean like five things have all gone wrong for the Knicks the nets making moves that they have their cap free all that. You not a kyri person. So the no it. Kyri brooklyn. I'm okay. Rick bay just leaves them in like no-man's-land like they just said, like we're getting kyri and that's our plan like, I don't love it. But maybe you can prove me wrong. Now, it's like, well what the fuck do you do? Thank god. They said no to Chris Paul. That's a step in the right direction for the next. The next would would've absolutely taken on. Chris Paul in years, gone by to try to sell some tickets and try to latch onto the final years of relevance of a former star..

"From the ACC went within the first eleven picks of last night's draft three from Duke to for North Carolina hunter from Virginia most taken that high by any conference in the common draft since nineteen sixty six. Also there were four Canadian-born players selected in the first round of the draft. Was it was it me or did anybody else pick up on this when RJ Barrett was selected? He was from Toronto and do RJ Barrett. He didn't say that with any other player taken from any other country. They've hometowns. No, like the Commissioner said from Toronto ni-. Granted they won the NBA title, but he didn't say that about anybody else. He also congratulated the raptors and mentioned how many foreign born players were on the roster. And how many non lottery picks were on the roster. Trumpeting the fact that you should stay tuned for the picks after the lottery. And international think so. Yeah, it was a whole script in front of them. Yeah, yeah. I was surprised it was like, oh, so you're going to do this for everybody where they're from. And then. It didn't work out that way. Yes, ma'am, it's hard to get around fifteen in the draft. And then they start posting all these collider Yana shots. Stay tuned. Guy like that. Go every year fifty. And now you can now these guys aren't officially on their new teams. Right. If you traded for somebody, you're not they're not officially on your team. Because the deal doesn't take place until July six they call that the switching of the hats, okay? What's not all the deals. But what happens if you get injured now, before you go to your team now is the trade is it incumbent upon doesn't hinge on you being healthy? Like what happens if one of these guys who got traded? Let's say Deandra hunter he got traded that pick to Atlanta and then Atlanta takes the Andrei hunter. What if he injured his ankle what if what if God forbid, one of these guys break something is the trade still good. Because you're not on that.

"Draft last night. Guests are Jay baron is now officially a New York knick. You got your NHL draft later on tonight. We're Jack us and cap Okaka will be going one two sear, you hear all these comparisons with RJ Barrett James harden, the way that it gets to the basket is Jalen, rose the way that he plays. I me I have no idea. And I don't know why people do that, because it's just so silly to put the pressure on these, like they compared like four guys to Leonard last night, because Leonard was the NBA finals MVP. And why not just hype the hell out of everybody. So when I hear these comparisons with RJ Barrett, I don't think about anything. I just think about the time. This is one of those rare picks for the Knicks. I know a lot about him 'cause how much Duke did we watch last year? The college basketball season it with Frank Neale Akina over in France, with Chris tops porzingas over in Lithuania. We saw a little bit of Kevin Knox Kentucky, but it's not like he was the driving force of that teaming RJ Barrett wins, I was out was at Vigo carry the team and dukes on TV every day. So I don't need a comparison with RJ barrel. Frank, Neale Akina, and Christopher. Maybe I did because I never saw him play didn't know anything about them, but with RJ Barrett, I haven't opinion on them, and I really really like them and yes, he needs to work on his jump shot in. Yes. Needs to work on his free throw shooting. But this guy is going to score in a beast for the new. Well, he sounds like he'll, he'll be more than working on it, you know and the way his dad sounded yesterday. They sound like they're really focused. And so just to kind of give you a little comparison of, what a new team could give Kevin Durant, if the ops out of his car. Okay. So what a new team could give Kevin Durant. If. The ops out of his contract by June. Twenty ninth is a four year deal for a total of one hundred and sixty four million dollars. All right. So the nets or the next could do that, if they convince them in the hospital, he's probably out now but they could give me, maybe he's out in the Hamptons. I don't know. But they could convince him one hundred sixty four million dollars over four years. Now, the other scenario is that he could opt in yet. His thirty one point five million this year rehab under the warriors banner and the next year, they go right back down and probably a little bit more than one hundred sixty four million next year. Okay. Or one of two things could happen. He could opt out and the warriors could give him a max contract of five years to one hundred twenty one million dollars five to twenty one that's, that's this year. Wow. Now he can take thirty one point five million, and wait till next year. And then. Get the five year supermax contract of two hundred twenty one million dollars cannot trade. That would be, so he would get this year's money, and then the five year contract after that isn't that a risk of major risk for the warriors to do that. To give him that. And then assume that someone's going to give up assets and take on that contract. And then you might be stuck with it. Yourselves away. It's being played as the warriors feel so bad God. And what happened to him stopping like you needs to get his money. I mean got enough money yet. I mean, no, he's the one that bet on himself, he's the one that went out to, to Golden State, and he's the one that wanna go back out of that court and play he had. Yeah. In independent doctor in his manager and Kevin himself agreed that he was ready to play. Right. So the warriors shouldn't feel guilty about that. This is how it's being played by Windhorst. It's a discussion point and all that other stuff. But I think any team that accepts a contract of two hundred and twenty one million dollars other than the State Warriors eighty it's Jerry is here with an update. Good morning Jerry morning brought to you by the raycatena auto group experience the luxury of space, Alexis Rx three fifty ill with third row seating now. Available at Ray Cotin Alexis, you know by now Zion Williamson, one, of course, to the pelicans, the grizzlies taking John Morand the Knicks, and RJ Barrett, hawk straight up to four take the Andre hunter and the Cavaliers choosing. Darius garland, the nets trading their first round pick to the clippers for a first round pick next year. They did take seven foot center, Nick lex of Georgia. And in the second round the Knicks picking is e bras dick is forward out of Michigan, a freshman at Michigan to here's some of the sound after Steve mills. Why are j Barrett? Being the number three gave to we felt. The most upset is a basketball player. That's what they got hoping for more of the same from Barrett's become the young man is one everywhere. He's been since he was thirteen years old in here's some of the stuff you were talking about J with Barrett. Just excited to play for New York. I'm so overwhelmed homeboys and just honored very thankful that the Knicks took the chance of me that they believe in me, and I'm so happy to be naked. I can't wait to play mass square and perhaps the best couple of seconds is when they say, all right. No more questions for RJ. He's done with the press conference. He kind of looks to the side and the microphones catch. You'll nick. That's kind of cool. He's not ruin them now really wants to do not need to ruin him. That's all now in terms of the pelicans Zion Williamson, here's David Griffin, who is pretty clear. Let's relax with Zion for a moment. This is not somebody who's supposed to be the savior of this franchise. That's not what this is. This is a nineteen year old kid who's going to spend this year learning how to play winning NBA basketball. He double down. Go play Duke. He's supposed to be the savior. Here's a savior Duke, and I was going to be the savior, New Orleans. Well, here's should have been to save your here. But now we got our J. Sounds like so let's trans. I iron now 'cause he's not I'm not trashing off. Let's go. Let's just crushing. You're you get sued hope you'll lose one hundred million dollars. Now zion? Here's Griffin on his team. This is drew holidays team. And when we made the team the trade that we made. Or working to complete rather. With a certain player who used to be here withdrew. We were very cognizant of the fact that this is drew holidays team. She's a couple times their magic. Imaginings could you imagine Bill check coming out and saying, this is Tom Brady's team? I mean, could you imagine like you know Pat Shurmur commands this Manning's team the way that he was saying that, though, it's like not saying that Anthony Davis was the guy. That's bill. Belgium say, and, you know, this is Julian Edelman team is. That he would never say it. Like why even say that? Why go down that road? I think he's trying to calm down the expectations. There's not a lot of pressure on Zion. And he goes out there and loses his mind. That's why I mean everybody in the world is saying that this guy is once in a generation, he could do everything also included. So I think the general manager wants to say, hey, so the guy's gone everywhere. He's gone. He's one two and he's been the guy. So why should it be able to assume that pressure? That's, that's the privilege of going number one overall Adrian draft. can handle sure he can speaking of privilege, the privilege to play on the Yankees because all they do is win last night? Another win on their way to winning this division by double digits. Swim.

Six foot seven six nine wingspan a very left handed player got a two three combo ideally, I think, with his side's six, I wouldn't span you'd probably want him at the two. What are some of the key stats about him that stuck out to you? So this year he put a twenty three P E R on Duke thirty two percent usage, fifty three percent shooting. Look back to that. Enough. Twenty three point five percent straight and thirteen percent turnover rate. And so if you want the counting stats twenty three points, seven point six rebounds, four assists in thirty five minutes a game thirty one percent from three on six point two attempts per game. Sixty seven percent from the line on five point nine free. Throw attempts per game in like I talked about with Zion. His numbers were Wardley the same in conference in overall, and that's not really surprised because Duke plays, a strong non conference schedule. So I'm looking for that more of the aboriginal like those, those teams that play just a bunch of softies in the early part of the year. And so that leads to the disparity trae young, I think actually had some of this because shooting numbers really chopped off. So that's one thing. And then another thing I want to mention at the beginning, no save that for later, we can, we can get into this up. Now also of note seventeen point two percent defense rebounds slows yet. Good rebounder. Some something that sticks out there decent on the offensive glass, to four point eight percent offense rebound for a two guard is really playing more of a three at Duke. A lot of the time also. Also have to consider his situation at Duke, which we talked about some with Zion where they did not have any other guard who played regularly who is going to knock down threes. They had a stretch for this guy Jack white who played sometimes, you know, they're kind of play him at the three that was an awkward fit. So there was not a ton of spacing for Barrett and that certainly should be considered in the context. So here's the question I wanted to start by talking about here is what would you say, RJ Barrett is really good at right now compared to most prospects that you're talking about it at this type of a level in the draft? It isn't as clear. I had a similar question in interest somebody with his physical gifts. The one that I have that was was impressive to me, and it's funny because how it ties him Zion is he's a better passer, an operator with the bonus hands than I had expected going back to my laity with his his Team Canada work, especially more and hoop summit as well. I didn't realize that he had the vision that he does, and he throws some really nice entry..

"That's what opens up your offense for your teammates. He's a great facilitator. And yes, he has is in his veins. Then you look at RJ Barrett RJ Barrett, obviously as skilled as any player coming out of high school reminds me of James harden. In fact, he finishes better than Jane's. Pardon did driving to his left when James harden was at era Zona state about twice as successful. And how guy Jalen rose jail Jalen rose, who great facilitator of the offense in the open floor. Finding players being unselfish RJ Barrett has that same ability and Cornell away. Athenee considered one of the best all time freshman seasons in college basketball history. He was really good in the so but his numbers are eerily similar actually offensively to what you saw from RJ, baron RJ Barrett in particular, that eyeso- in that mid range area is something that he can utilize his length elevate and finish. These are three really good players. This is why the focus of this draft has been on these three players and it's easy to say, okay. He's this, or, he's that I think it's more focused when you start to look at qualities and attributes that these players have that are transferable to that next level all these three guys in pretty good company. And look, I know the next one that number one pick they once I am, but I think they are parent, they'd be quite happy. Let's go to another. The NFL draft. And this one's all the way to next year. What North Carolina's sweep of Duke really means

"Bid the ACC game yesterday the Duke North Carolina game. There was an interesting stat. Interesting to me, at least that I gave on Friday with Chris black, and it was that North Carolina had played Duke eight times under ROY Williams in the final game of the regular season with first place in the ACC at stake for North Carolina. Either outright first place or a share now Virginia one yesterday over Louisville. So North Carolina needed a win to get a share a first place in the ACC now in those eight. Times in North Carolina play Duke in the final game of the regular season. Trying to get first place in the ACC tarheels were eight no with games in five zero seven zero eight oh nine eleven twelve sixteen and seventeen. Now, they're nine and go after North Carolina get seventy nine to seventy win over Duke yesterday the blue devils again without Zion. Williamson and Duke struggling shooting from three, and that's why a lot of the experts are not picking Duke to win the NC double A tournament. They were eight of thirty two from three last night. Now, it'll be a little bit different. When I Williamson is back RJ Barrett with twenty six points last night. Cam reddish added twenty three points the tar heels share the ACC regular season title with Virginia's. I mentioned Virginia had a win earlier the evening against Louisville. Cody white, the freshman out of North Carolina. He was all kinds of fun to watch. He had twenty one points Zion. Williamson. Oh did practice while the other day John was out with Waddle and Silvy show on Friday, if you get a chance go back and listen to that the podcast at ESPN, Chicago dot com. You can listen to the podcast of the shows. Zion. Williams had a good practice. Some people thought he might have played last night. But after the game it appeared coach K said Williamson we'll be ready for Thursday's ACC tournament which gets underway. So it's going to be all kinds of fun to watch and see how Virginia North Carolina Duke doing the upcoming ACC

He's averaging twenty six points, eight rebounds with Williamson out of the lineup again is four straight miss BARRET. Barrett was great in the first half. Coach, absolutely terrific. He reminds me of the rose, and he gets to the Lamey finishes. He's got all different ways to finish his game. He's got a tough city gets creases and creates scoring opportunities. RJ barrett. Twenty eight point to the winning scored twenty of dukes thirty two points in the paint. Duke is one eighteen to the last nineteen games against Wake Forest. Coach, Mike we. We were fortunate in the last play. Because that's inexcusable what we did. And I don't think we're fortunate fortunate to win. Yeah. I know our chase beaten himself up. Yeah. Played a great game. And without him. Forget it. I mentioned to the TV people that this is the afternoon Zion. Actually, did some basketball stuff this afternoon. And. Good good get no more confidence. And we just have to get them in shape. We'll see I don't I don't think it'd be ready for Saturday. And. I have to be careful not. Push. This just give him a chance to get in game shape. But I I would be surprised if he wasn't ready by the ACC tournament, and hopefully we'd play some games in. They're not just one and and get ready for the NC double A tournament. Zion Williamson injury: Duke star reportedly has $8 million loss of value insurance policy

"What's the insurance policy that Zairean Williamson has it Duke? So you can get a loss of value insurance policy which protects you if you fall in the draft, but presenting on, it's basically useless. I Duke Duke buys all the insurance policies to the players. I think that the exception of RJ Barrett who actually he came in with an insurance policy. He got his senior in high school that takes him all the way through his first year. But for the most part of the last five years colleges have been doing these insurance policies an eight million dollar policy for Zion cost you about fifty thousand dollars. It's all it's all above board. It's part of the rules. It's part of getting a player. But again he would start collecting at pick number seventeen. So given what we know of the injury. And even if he injured himself worse, you couldn't imagine that he would ever fall there. So it's there it is protection. But I don't think it will ever be used as an athlete collected on an insurance policy. Yes. FOX Freya Lamu from Oregon. Did there was there's oh who collected more Keithly elected from USC? There's been a couple, but and and that's important for the insurance industry to to know there's been guys who collected on disability, which is like you never play again. But the the more recent product is this offer value where they base the way it works is they basically project where you're going to go you sign the insurance policy, and then they tell you, okay. Like fifteen or twenty picks after that. That's when you that's when the clock starts going the money starts coming in. So it's been collected. The problem is though with Zion. Williamson Duke ensures them for eight million him for eight million dollars. But what's he's really worse? I mean, he's probably worth eighty. Million. So he's he might be worth eight million to to do, but they're really not giving him the the full value. And that's gonna be the next bait. Even though there's only so many Williams, and the other thing is when to and this technicality, but I think it's fun to talk about in DC way. So when Duke pays the insurance policy these insurance policies, if you pay the premium policy, it is tax free you collect your money tax free unless the school pays for it. And then you have to pay taxes on it. So for some of these players if they do have money it's actually worth it for them to pay for the policy instead of the

The Race For Zion Williamson Is Intensifying

"Let's start with was UC and Zion. Williamson has been the talk of the season even before it began. What do you make out of him and coach he's team as far as perhaps another title? Well, I think free Jones by the way is you know, has exceeded expectations as highly touted as was I'm not gonna say better than his brother. But his brother had when cooked next when they won the title and fifteen and and traders and have someone like that. And we saw when he went out against Syracuse. How they were hurt at that position. Even though RJ Barrett place on the bit. So so so much is on his shoulders he's handled it and now, you know, no, injuries shoulders back. And this team is to me a little reminiscent of the Kentucky team that won it with freshmen in twelve where they had Anthony Davis. They've got Williamson they've got they had Michael to Gilchrist bay of our Barrett. So there are parallels where you could see one to in the draft with do just like we saw one to that team. So there's a chance that you know, that all that could play out very. Comparable. My concern would be you know, will they get that other sort of lead guard play if tree Jones Foulsham, let's he got hurt or what that's the one. Achilles heel is their bench on the perimeter going forward.

Tyus Battle's 32 Lead Syracuse to Shocking Upset Win over Zion Williamson, Duke

"A lot going on in the world of sports. We'll get into more dominance from James harden, a decision that gets pretty easy for the defending Super Bowl champions in my mind at this point a decision yesterday did seem to be a no brainer. That for some reason. I felt like we treated like a lot more than it was. That still has plenty of drama left to unfold for one major NFL prospect. But I. Holy hell Zion. Williamson I understand that Duke lost. I understand that. And if you missed it last night. Syracuse went on the road upset Duke ninety five ninety one in overtime. We got a little free basketball, which for those of us watching the bachelor last night. There is nothing like watching Colton going camping with the girls and the bachelor house and seeing simultaneously. Oh, I'm getting free basketball to this was all of my worlds coming together in the absolute best ways possible. Now for the Duke side of things I understand Duke lost. But when you look at the circumstances around why it becomes not only understandable. But I think it's never excusable. I want to say that right now Duke is too talented across the board the guys that they had left on the court. We're still good enough to where you have to get this done at home. And I say left on the court because part of the story for Duke last night going into the game. Cam reddish, one of the stars in their team missing with illness. Not in an available for them in the game. And then about five and a half minutes in trae Jones their star guard a guy who's a defensive juggernaut for them and a huge catalyst for them. Offensively leaves the game with what Mike chef ski described after as a shoulder sprain. It's a shoulder sprain. And we'll put out because I'm not gonna do medical stuff. But it's a sprain. There's no break, although he was in a lot of pain. He's a kid that the toughest kid right away. I don't know if my car broke bonus broken, you know, and it was that it was hurting that badly, but it's a sprain. And that was my worry. The I I saw that you thought it might have been a broken collarbone, which would have been devastating for this do blue devils team that listen the proof is in the pudding like the when he is on and off the court for them just within the body of this game be five minutes and change that he was on the court during this game Duke point differential, plus eight with him on the court field goal percentage. Fifty five point six percent with him off the court the point differential, minus twelve thirty six point six percent field goal percentage. They suffer offensively they suffer defensively where he's one of the best, man. Demand defenders in the ACC. And so that is going to affect you always said when it comes to injury. Usually we talk about it with the timing going into the season. At different points of the year, injuries are going to affect you differently. And so if you're a star player that gets injured at the beginning of the season ally. Last Joseph the Boston Celtics, for example, Gordon Hayward being injured at the beginning of the season. You spend the entire rest of the year. Figuring out how you adjust without Gordon Hayward. Kyrie Irving being injured right before the playoffs. All of a sudden, that's a major adjustment for a guy who has been a huge part of your offense. You might grow that down to a single game. And Cam rightish, who you know is not going to be available to you. That night is one way you adjust the game plan. Trey Jones going down in the body of that game is another completely when you have to now adjust without that guy on the court for you without the certainly the encore leadership that he brings you and all that production, and so the energy shifted as one might say. To Zion Williamson at RJ Barrett. Who took who scored fifty eight combined points last night the second most by Duke freshman duo under Mike shefty, but it wasn't quite enough. And I say all this again is a backdrop to discredit Syracuse for going in there and getting a win. And Lord knows we have become accustomed to Syracuse teams throughout the course of time underachieving during the regular season finding a way to make a run that alternately lands them in a Sweet Sixteen type season. That's the capability always exists with a Syracuse team. But man, you even heard Jim pay Heim after this who as usual was lighting up the sidelines in a way that the internet sopped up and enjoy tremendously even Jim boeheim after this kind of understood like man, there was a lot working against Duke. And we are still the team as Twitter would remind you last night big night for Old Dominion Twitter. Because ODU Twitter was reminding you the transit of property can be ineffective you so choose and college basketball, and this is a Syracuse team that. Lost to Old Dominion earlier this year, and you can kind of hear their head coach wearing that dukes. Great team. They don't have to other key guys. That's the breaks of the game. Sometimes. Those two guys the whole game. But you know, it's just one of those things. I watched one tape white may eight threes one game. I think seventy a lot. He couldn't tonight. That's just the way the game is sometimes I am. I asked Michael junior here on ESPN radio and the ESPN app. Duke talk about not being able to buy one from three that was the other thing there were a lot of specific jokes made about the sexual prowess of the bachelor over the course of last night. Those were only outnumbered by Duke missed three point shots in a game where they went nine for forty three. Again, a game in which one of their best offense players out. They went nine for forty three. The most three point field goal attempts in school history. Duke now becoming the fifth AP number one team to lose at home to an unranked team in the last ten seasons. So. An outlier in a lot of ways. Again, you look at all the things surrounding this performance. I'm inclined to look at these and not excuse a loss. But understand the circumstances around and say, all right. I'm not going to sound the alarms yet for do. Because this is still a Duke team that again man you saw what Zion is capable in. The midst of all this for a team that has struggled this season against own. We know no one really runs it better than Syracuse. In a lot of ways Zion still thirty five points in a loss. He goes thirty five and ten in this game. He becomes the first major conference player. With thirty five ten four and a game since Kevin Durant. Did it back in two thousand and seven and you saw for all the talk. We had about on a while back. I want to be known as more than just a dunker. You saw that on display last night because him going down and being that differentiating force in the paint. And that's where in the past by the passed earlier this season when you look at the other loss to zag and the things that undermine them in that game with teams clogged up, the paint, this outfit tend to have a bit of trouble. And you saw them do a better job of that last night. They just couldn't hit shots. Like, it's we always hear about the NBA to make making mislead couldn't hit shots your one of your best players and a guy who initiate your offense. And your defense goes out within the first five minutes of the game last night. And all of a sudden the plan changes. Now, what it means going forward becomes entirely different and Jay Bilas ESPN college basketball analyst pointed that out that long term for Duke. The worry. I think any team that loses a point guard like that is going to have some issues and.

"Barrett may be a better pro pot prospect in as far as the draft goes than even Zion. Williamson and this was the ultimate example of the better team beat the better athletes now down the road, those better athletes under Mike chef ski you're gonna turn into a better team. You would think, but I give Mark few and Gonzaga whole hell of a lot of credit. They've seen all the hype surrounding Zion. Williamson RG Barrett and the Duke blue devils with these freakish athletes, especially Zion. And they looked at Redmond said, we are not scared of you. So matter of fact, we're going to beat your, you know, what the number three in the country for a reason my scrubs here. I mean, and they did. And that's what Mark view has done for nearly two decades now at Gonzaga. They are remarkable organization. They have prototype talent. They do put into the NBA an eight play as as a team and they stare them down. And almost tried to give it to him, by the way, bad free throw shooting. Missed four in a row they would ban from the free throw line the second half period. And I'm looking at it going to point lead. Dukes had to come down and hit a three two to win this game. And in the legends going to grow Gonzaga had great deep block shot on RG Baird. You just heard Cathy with the call and the rest now is can we put to bed all the Duke could beat the worst team in the NBA talk. "I know you're saying, Diane, Diane. I really liked this kid RJ Barrett. The left-handed ball handler. I think he would be a better fit. I mean, the kids Canadian he's going to be a start. I would rather see him in Diane. But let me hear your take on it. Yeah. Joe? I mean, listen, I would take him to would sign for either one of those guys right now, they're so incredibly talented. The reason why I'm infatuated with Zion. Williamson is because he is a giant man who can jump who can run who can pass who can defend. He's muscular. He's got a cool name at what was the name. What was the title of the article? I sent you. Of the day. There is nobody we've never seen. Anybody like Zion? Williamson before it play basketball was something along those lines. I was probably a little longer. But yeah. So that that's what it is. Is that the his size his strength. He's speed. He's skill set. His ability to bowl handle and run the floor is like nothing we've ever seen. So, and I just I don't know that guy and Knicks uniform the intimidation factor is we're watching a highlights again, the intimidation factor of it. I don't want to take anything away from RJ Barrett. I mentioned before Jay Bilas said that he reminds them of James harden after one game of the way, it goes to the basket and can score. I'll take that too. But if I if I have the pick this guy the one game one game, this is what we're talking about. But they were that impressive. You know? I mean, they didn't beat some home school. They beat Kentucky was ranked ahead of them by thirty some odd points, they dominated them. So I mean, I'll refer back to that highlight package with Zion. And when he stole. That fall from that guy, and then ran the floor and then that bounce past that, right? There is waiting to say forget about the dogs. Forget about everything else. Just watch that athleticism at that size. That's why I love the guy. All right, boomer and geo on the fan and.

"Investors Bank studio, boomer and geo on the fan and across the country on CBS sports. Some hot stove today. Little giants and jets and who wouldn't normally be talking about college basketball this early in November. Say John some expectations or we're gonna mention them every now, and then but what happened? Duke Kentucky game last night is something that's going to resonate throughout the sports world today. And I hope that do not that I'm a Duke guy. But I just want to see those two guys and Barrett and Zion Williamson, especially just tear it up because that was so much fun to watch as they blew out Kentucky. And if you're a Knicks fan that didn't think that losing was the way to go, and I know that organizations tank players don't I don't want the players to try to lose. I get that. And they're not trying to lose. They're playing hard to the end. And that's great to watch the efforts. They're trying really hard at the end. They're losing some of these games. But if you don't want that to continue if you're one of those people should know I wanted to win. I want him to win watch Desiigner. Williamson highlights again because I watched him fifteen times this morning, and I can't get enough of this guy. He does everything absolutely everything. I mean, if you weren't impressed by the dunk the outside shooting. How about the time is the CBS sports showed him drilling. A three. How about the time where he steals the ball from a guy mid air puts the ball on the ground. Then makes this ridiculous bounce pass to a guy for an easy layup, like a rounded defender how about that. I mean, he is just. It's insanity. This guy he's he's eighteen years old. He's a freshman. And I know that most really good college basketball players are that now because the ones that stay usually are limited in some way, because they're not in the NBA and Mike chef ski has a team that doesn't have to rely on to three point. You know? That's why they would lose. Yeah. They go out there. And all of a sudden you're in one of these mammoth stadiums, you're not used to shooting in that environment. And all of a sudden you go through for thirty five from three point line, and you end up losing no longer. Now, they're gonna just run up and down the court, and they're going to get these dogs. These rebounds as kids going to play defense. And he's something to behold. That's why you know what? Okay. I get it. You want the Knicks to lose? I want the team to try so. Yeah. So we're trying for him. Yeah. Trying for Zion. Try pray and have happened. What happened the other night and lose in the end. Yeah. As we've seen a couple of those in the NHL, it's lose for us. But I have to tell you watching the next over the next the Rangers over the last four games. They're not losing especially watching the way that they played last night. Man. You just like God if they could just show that kind of effort, which they have for the most part all year long Quinn has gotten them to play with great effort all year long and Henrik has been terrific. And he's been kind of like the the leader of this whole thing man, a play like this. Now, you're starting to think men do they get the seventh or eighth I told you that I thought that they would at least make them. An attempt to kind of get the seven or eight in the playoff standings in the in the Eastern Conference. But I still think is manageable assuming they stay healthy. But man last night's game was awesome. Yeah. I mean, I think that that was the best part of it's like they they got behind. They scored the late goals. They didn't give up the late goals and they had some spectacular plays last night. The game was played at such a high pace that it was so much fun to watch. Yeah. Number one pick in the NHL. You've seen a couple of those guys come out and be good right away lately. But in in the NBA, I still feel like it's it's more coveted like if you you got a player like that. Or someone of that ilk. Can you end up with that number one pick? I mean, it changes your free. Jack uses is going to be a Sidney Crosby our economy, David or jumped the virus. I don't know. I don't but everybody seems to think that he is the next great player in a line of great number one draft picks an Eichel for the sabres. He was in the other night and you just wash away plays. Like, oh my God. You know, so big and strong that that's what you hope for when you get a first overall pick. But I kind of want the Rangers the play the way they did last night. I want him to win. I wanted to I want young guys to find their way. That's I can live with that. Man. Live with that effort. I saw last night. That's for sure. And don't forget to by the way that RJ Barrett. Scored more points than Williams and did now RJ Barrett. Jay bills compared him to James harden. The way he went to the basket last night. So that's another guy. I'm not going to turn down RJ Barrett. If he ends up being a better prospect to but there's something about just the for lack of better term. The beefing of Zion name Harris name the way he plays. How he plays a big years? Yeah. And the most spectacular part of his game is how high he can jump. Yeah. I know you almost hit the four his forehead on on the rim last night handed dunk. It's crazy, man. Let's go to dean in North Carolina. What's happening being? You don't want buddy? What's happening? I like to say they were I think is the greatest quarterback play the game and many many years. I say that I am a fan of his even I not capable fan of his former team. Okay. Why? On his show on on sports yet. Particular fan a quarterback on. There are no worries. So what do you got? Last night her from the high was Kentucky. But I gotta say I did not get to watch the game last night. Watch the replay of the game today at least half up. I would be really embarrassed. And even the coach said that they got out coast outplay. Let rookies. Let rookies do that. Well, it's. Sports. Yeah. You never know them. Damn Wildcats also had rookies on eighteen to I will just say this the freshman that are on the Duke basketball team are freaks. Yeah. I mean, two of them quite possibly or should they most likely be playing in the NBA? And then reddish to was another one another guy. They have a third guy who's they? They've got three team that are supposed to be the top into top five right address. What are the all time? Great freshman classes that we've ever seen. It's it's shaping up to be that way that will right, by the way. I haven't seen like a. Okay. Seditious going on some issues. As the still working here. Or what's going on in these issues that we need to get involved with because this is a family here. We are connected. There is a bond, and if we have to step up and help him out, then we will or well, it's you remember the procedure. He. How all right. All right. Never mind that. All right. I thought maybe chernoff Suzano looseness going on pooping. But it's been twenty minutes. And poor AL's had to go to the bathroom. Right. Here is our we were worried about you there, man. I hadn't that's the first time. I know you've worked it out for a long time. It's only been now what eleven months ten months plus for me. I've never seen him away from that. He's because he's the best producer in the building hands down. He stays in the control room and listens to the show like a great producer does. And he was gone poop emoji the entire segment. Sounds like something's gotta be up. All ES. I believe the the colonoscopy prep, and then the colonoscopy, and then your body goes on hold for a few days. Yeah. Big bowel movements. And then it was not a good scene. You're in there about the time that Evans in their giving himself a bell. Yes. Well, it was in there. He was not. I went upstairs this the bathrooms at WFAN were all full. Yeah. Because I know this is preferred bathroom and I had to during the break. I went number one. And I heard someone in there. But then I heard that person like relaxing and flipping a paper. So I knew wasn't style. I went upstairs, and there was someone in there. And then I went to the other side there was someone in there. And I was like, I don't know. What to do? I said let me go back and check the first bathroom upstairs, and that person had left left, a nice and clean. Appreciate that. Goes. Very good. Yes. And then thought I was done headed back down this way. And then I thought not done. Yeah. That upstairs bathroom where they got the music pumping. Yeah. It's it's a little bit cooler in there to ever gone up there. No. That's the preferred place for me in those situations. That's a good one. Right. Because they got the pop music going and everything then at four o'clock in the morning is very rare for me, it's your shell. But I'll just put things on hold nine nineteen on the fan. You know, it takes.
