Cubs' Rizzo gives opponent sanitizer at first base

"Anthony Rizzo is playing for the Cubbies. And while he was at first base, there was a base runner adjacent to him, and he took some hand sanitizer out of his back pocket and gave it to the base runner. And then he took his hand sanitizer back and put it. Right back into his pocket as well. That is funny to see Nice job by Anthony Rizzo. "With Rizzo on the play, and Santana comes to 30 will be held there. The bull skipped out of play. So kidneys should be awarded second base and he will be a pretty good collision between Rizzo and kidneys and a good sign a gesture of sportsmanship of the part of both, neither intended for that to happen, so that should go as an infield hit and then an air on Ross and now the Indians have runners at second and third with two down. It's a real tough chance for Ross. As the ball goes quite a big down the third baseline, almost 1/3 of the way, maybe closer to 1/2 of the way down the line. So Ross and I had to pick it up and blindly throw as he kind of did a 3 60 turn. And the throw was into the runner. No chance for Rizzo as there was the collision. This's Kevin winter, and you're listening to a special presentation of Major League Baseball on ESPN radio featuring Game seven of the 2016 World Series between the Cubs and the Indians. He swings and pulls one foul third base side into the camera will just be on the dugout, first pitch cutter in on the hands on the corner, or maybe in off the plate. When effective that that cutter not only will be a strikeout pitch for a spot picked for him, but a pitch that he'll get strikes right. "My next guest, a terrible tragedy as motivation to achieve what most kids can only dream about and here to tell us about it is Kobe Mayo survivor of the Parkland shutting and now fourth. Round MLB draft pick of the Baltimore Orioles. Kobe congratulations first of all. What was that like to get that news to hear? What your dream is GonNa. Come through you a draft. Until you know the whole process. In the last three months has been crazy. Dacoven season was cut short a little bit, but you know it was that process was was very stressful, but you know. The day of the draft was just. Feeling in here, my name on TV was just it was feeling that can't even I can't even pitcher back ahead because I lost all the moments in my head, because of all the excitement from my family, my friends and it was just an amazing moment, and I really hold forever. That's incredible, but we go back now. People here, Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, two, thousand, eighteen people remember your student at this school and you know I can't imagine how that day had an impact on the students, but tell me how that day maybe change your perspective, and did it have some kind of an impact on your motivation and your drive, and ultimately getting you to where you are now. Yeah I always say to this day. If maybe that shooting never happened in might not motivated me to be where I'm at today, and you know I i. really do that day as motivation because of all the. Students were lost and teachers our Lawson. I really use ideas motivation to keep to keep going and do community you. Anthony Rizzo came back to community after the next day flew home from Chicago, he was getting ready to start a season, and he talked to the community, and it was. It was really big community to hear his voice I Kinda WanNa be that that voice. That's heard because I'm you know on to better things? Came of its strong and that's that's really what I WANNA be. Ultimate Goal Co, it sounds like. You feel like you have some type of responsibility. You were blessed. You were spared. A lot of kids were that day, but it sounds like you're taking this on as a blessing in an opportunity that you have a responsibility now to fill. Yet for sure you know those seventeen to seventeen that didn't make don't have the opportunity to fulfill their dreams, and if I can go out there and honor them, so feel my dreams. I think that that would be the biggest success that. Anyone can make the whole second. That's going on so I want I really want them to to see me reaching my goals. And hopefully they looked down and they're happy. What's up?

Looting Deals Further Blow to Small Businesses

"Many of the wounds from this week's unrest will take time to heal so too. Will the economic impact on small businesses in the protests areas? They were already struggling from the loss of revenue because of shutdowns to the virus, then just as they were taking steps to reopen, many were hit by looting were had to board up to prevent damage. Our Scott Calvert spoke to many of them, and he joins me now with more. So Scott tell us what's been happening across Philadelphia in the past week. Sure, we'll things have actually been pretty calm the last couple of days, but Saturday night. There was a lot of violence in the downtown area in center city along Walnut Street and Chestnut Street a lot of chain stores, things like that were self sustained, quite a bit of of damage, but then starting on on Sunday. The looting really spread all around the city well beyond center. Center city to business corridors all over the city. Really there were dozens of business quarters that sustained quite a quite a bit of damage, and that includes the fifty second street corridor in West Philadelphia, sustained lots of damage. There were dozens of businesses along roughly a half mile stretch that were damaged to some degree, ranging from just broken windows to completely destroyed and set on fire. And many of the small businesses you spoke with are owned by African, American and immigrant owners who found have been disproportionately impacted. Why is that? Well these independent small businesses you know they. They don't have a lot of cash. In Reserve they have oftentimes just one business, and if there's damage done to that, you know they can't necessarily get things fixed up and get back up and running. They just they just don't have a lot. In the way of resources, the way that say a large corporation would have and. And so the the effect is definitely sort of disproportionate in terms of the difficulty they face, and this a city like many large cities across America with a painful history of race relations. We saw the statue of former mayor Frank. Rizzo removed after it was vandalized last night. Scott gives us more of a sense of the historical context that these business owners are working under. Right, so, Yes Philadelphia certainly has a fraud history like a lot of cities in America and the area where I spent time in West Philadelphia on fifty second street. It's really interesting because it is often described as the main street of West Philadelphia it had a real heyday in early part of of the twentieth century and around world. War Two and extending the nineteen fifties, there was a thriving, African American, Middle Class neighborhood there and businesses to support the folks who lived in that area, and then starting in the nineteen sixties and going forward there were there was white flight and a lot of other. Other things that caused a decline there were recently the city. Philadelphia had invested a lot of resources in trying to to bring it back. The the quarter was sort of on the upswing there were there were fewer vacant storefronts and a different mix of businesses, but this is mainly a lower income African. American neighborhood right around there, and that's who the WHO the customer bases and you know. I was talking with a man who saw one of these destroyed storefronts, and he was really disheartened, because he shops there all the time they have. They have Desai's close. He needs and so he was really really sad to. To, see what had happened there and a couple of doors down actually right? Next door is a corner pharmacy that was it was cleaned out by looters, and this is a a farm neighborhood pharmacy. You know that fills prescriptions for people who live in the area who may not have a car, so there's a real direct connection between the businesses and the people who live there, and without a doubt having these businesses at least temporarily closed is going to hurt the neighborhood

"I don't think that's really how Aaron Rodgers feels. I think it's a quarterback. And so when you get to wear a red jersey every single day and training camp, no one's gonna touch, you sure. You relax and be like, oh, we'll get to it. When we get to also knows they're going to make him. In the NFL regardless of what happens. I don't know what's gonna happen, Aaron, Donald. I don't know what's going to happen Dell back. I know what's going to happen to Rogers. And so does he bread already that loan? This really not a lot to worry about baseball necks, and this is Chicago where the cubs trail, the diamondback six, four in the bottom of the night. David vote is a rookie called up from AAA. Iowa hits a game tying to over next up comes Anthony Rizzo Rizzo. Anthony Rizzo is gonna smash, four hundred fifty, three foot homing deal and walk it off for the cubs in his one thousand career game for the cubs coming back from a five run debt winning. I like the dance. Right? It's not bad. Meanwhile, the cubs added a World Series MVP Esther day acquiring left-hander Cole hamels from the Rangers for several low minor league prospects ammos will now call Wrigley home. He actually threw a no hitter there in twenty fifteen in his last start as a Phillies. So this is a significant acquisition as we are now getting really close to the baseball trade deadline. Wait to see where these starters wind up and hamels winds up in. Chicago reminds me of last year when the Houston Astros made the move Burland and it was it was huge to get him there as a guy that could take seven in. Well, that's one big movement. Here's the other one of the reasons he wound up in Chicago is because Jay half wound up with the Yankees in exchange for Brandon, very, and a AAA outfielder named Billy McKinney. Apple's ten and six this year with a four eighteen ERA, but he's been very good against the Red Sox. I don't know if they had that in mind. He's a very good pitcher right now. He's probably a better picture, then Cole hamels and so he will. He made the all star team this year. So he's a Yankee now, and that's the key is needed. And he had debt. Itching position, but it hurts that Aaron judge is no longer gets that maybe that that was for the Antes, but here's terrible middle. The Yankees are going to be without Aaron judge for so period of time. Now, saying three weeks until he can start swinging the bat again or has a chance to be back. He took that ninety three mile an hour fastball off the right wrist didn't come out of the game immediately actually. But ultimately that terminates chip fracture fracture choose me in the wrist. He can't swing a bat for at least three weeks, not sure exactly when he'll be back. He's been out of the starting lineup, fifteen times in the last two years. The anchors are five and ten in those games while averaging just three point, three runs per game with him. They're the most potent offense in the sport, and here's there's two different ways to look at this injury. The Yankees scheduled coming up twenty seven of the next thirty four games against losing teams. So you could say, well, this is the right time to get hurt, or you could say it's the worst time to get hurt because this is when they need to win every single game. If they're gonna make a chance. Make a run at catching up to Boston to me that moment when that pitch hits judge is the moment that the Red Sox won the American League east with you on that. I mean, what is it three or four games against the Red Sox. It's three against the Red Sox four against the raise or the reverse. It's one or the other, but those are the two series against winning teams. I just feel like everything you do sports in particular. If you're a hitter has to do with your wrists and that flexibility, not not being able to come back from something like that. That isn't just he'll into three weeks and not to mention Chris sale place for the rich Saad. You have elite pitching on that staff and you have the elite hitter that you're missing for your lineup..

Red Sox Cole hamels Aaron Rodgers Yankees Anthony Rizzo Rizzo cubs Billy McKinney baseball Chicago Phillies Rogers Dell Houston Astros NFL Iowa Burland Apple David Rangers MVP
