"Take something from Rizzo. It's Let's get the bat on the ball. The home runs will come. And I think he's being as important as the home run's been like that caught. There is He steps out of the batter's box and just kind of shakes his head a little bit like Are you kidding me called strike at the top of the zone even up to count one and one is Jacob Webb. Which is his second inning. Here's the 11 and that one's rolled over and it's gonna stay foul of first base. Anything about that the impact and important of Freeman's at bats today. Freddie Freeman Mean on that side. Just the fact that you kept it quiet. He had that single. Go in the first inning, but Outside of that. It's been quite a coup Nya. He's been quiet has been on base twice picked off once, but you know, you'll take it. Hey, give up a single of cognac will take that all day long. That's right. 12 to Rizzo on that one is fouled on the play. But Rizzo here I mean, a guy that it's hard to If you're like me. I mean, you can't help but like Anthony Rizzo. I'm a fan of Anthony. Yes, my say as a player as a person, maybe is a person first as a player. I don't know, but It's really hard to determine. You know, what's it gonna look like for him onto on that one has lifted into right. Fair ball on. It bounces right towards the right fielder, according to Oh, and it got by on my cornea slipped and Rizzo will go to third base and he will get in there with a slide. That's gonna be a single and a likely two base error on a cornea on boy. I'll tell you what city when he rounded first and we hadn't yet seen according to fall, I said He's dead. He's out at second. Spelling or water a little bit as he was going, But nice job there looks like a change up. It was fading away from Anthony Rizzo. He's off balance a little bit, just kind of threw the hands and hooked it. Yeah, the right field corner. But again, I've talked about this, and this is one of the things that base running is an attitude. And it's great to see even though the Cubs record and their performance has it been good, But the attitude of baserunning has been excellent. Yeah..

"Buster only was saying Either. You know what they're gonna do. He wanted a deal and says he's not gonna turn it down s o. They got out the side, he said by sometime in late June, whether they blow it up or whether they try to give him one more run and they got you know, obviously Chris, Brian and Have your bias. What if they just one thing to keep it? I and the Cubs or six and nine, Um, is that they ever traded into the New York Yankees, But Luke Weaver being down that would be monumental of the Yankees could get Rizzo. They will think about it. Think about what that team could do with the deadline because offensively they're hitting 1 92, which is the worst in baseball. Kyle Hendricks. Is there one with all due respect. He's like he's a three and they just They blew the whole thing up ever since. They've gotten the new ownership group and like you, said Rizzo, free Agent Bryant, free agent Bias free agent. Already trade Darvish mean they're tearing it apart. So I at the deadline, they could have major pieces moving from the Cubs. Major I also thought a Rizzo is a giant, but I don't know if you would bring a belt, I think is gonna be fine. Here is gonna be far less it, Sparky. Sparky is of your low peasant boys talking about me talking about. Have you ever heard that before? I think I remember that from. I think I remember Harvey call him Sparky a few years ago, but I forgot what it was about. So when L came on. We had to ask him what the spark is The part. Sparky is the most perfect for yesterday. Calm Sparky, because it's the day game after a night game that felt comes in Dragon ass. Especially in South Beach, especially after the night before his loss, eh? So they had a hard time getting up, But Harvey kept dropping. The Sparky pulls into third because he talks about build Sparky. Sparky Lyle on the roster, Z the bullpen and hadn't even noticed Sparky Lyle. He's funny. You guys had had a gun with him yesterday. By the way, good matching suits you and contests. Thanks. Now they look the same on camera. But they really weren't They weren't what you think of the Greek. How good she is great. Just say so. Natural? Yeah. Jealous. He's fantastic. Yeah, but last year he just we did him. Althea zoom and he was in his is a place in Chicago. And he was good, but it's so much better to get him in studio and we're you know, we get on a zoom. We watch the games together, and we talk and Some is pitching breakdown, she told some of the hilarious stories. Told us Do you know his? His brother played on Steve Apartments traveling team to Steve Bartman coached. So he told apartment story when you know when the play when Dickerson caught the ball down the line of foul ground. He said, in the middle of your mind, and I'm a 2003 and he was out on Waveland. The celebrate the Cubs and Long story about BART. Many and stories about eating Philly cheese steak and He's just he's He is a natural on TV. I mean, normally, it takes guys a while the week that's the first time he's been on TV, and this kind of a role last year was in a zoom. So not intimidated at all. And I told him only I told them they Saturday. You were highly distinguished pitcher. You got a World Series ring. He had a great career. But you may be more known for your broadcasting. Then you are going to be as a pitcher. I mean, he's that good and I think he wants to do games and we'll see where he goes. But I love me some contacts. The Greek he came. He was fantastic. Now. The only problem is John. He's got better hair than me. So I've got I've got nothing going it all against him. He beats me every category. Anyone I could possibly beat him would be the hair. He's even better than me there. E. I hate to say this to you, but he's getting there. I was thinking that exactly I scared I got really good hair. I think I'm gonna make him wear a Giants cap every show so At least a somebody to give me a really bad haircut. Right? Buzz that thing. Oh, you didn't. I'm sorry. He's a good dude. He's fun. You would love hanging out with him. He has a lot of fun. I'll take the other thing, too. Not the man crush too much, but I've Harvey's been doing this for a few years now, but I've never seen someone that is so natural in the booth like even the reads like everything he does, and he tells the story so effortlessly was telling the Affeldt story. During the during the game. He's good man. Yeah, he's really good. That's a tough act to walk in on you. He doesn't Mike doesn't mean Mike. One needs time off. You want to replace my crew Co. I think is Mike is a 10 in every category. You know, he's fun. He's almost comedic fun, and he's just so funny, but then nobody analyzes the game and every aspect of the game. He's just one of the best analyst he in history, not Duchess baseball. Any sport. Mike is just incredible. So that's a hard act to step. Indio. It's you know, obviously have. Yu Darvish, Cubs became perfect fit over time

"Now I wanted to ask you about this in it's a harder question to. Answer Two thousand twenty because we're it's not like we're in club houses and we can watch the body language and see players and how they interact with each other i. know in that first year that there were people in the cubs organization who felt like that darvish just wasn't comfortable with the group and it didn't have any do I. Personally I don't think with the other players on the team, but just he maybe was just the pressure of the contract where it felt like he was more of an outsider, not completely within the team realm what what are you seeing? What are you hearing more? So about that now? Get Away, I can relate it from my world reporting world. Is that first year it even though he speaks fine English, he used a translator all year with the media. Now he didn't use it with his teammates but. I think that was is an example of how things change in the second year last year he spoke English, his personality came out he he he got he got to know reporters like myself a lot better and then this year in Spring Training Boston he was like the class clown he was having a great time with us until things shutdown ironically or I guess that's the right word coming back from the pandemic only being able to zoom interviews he's been different. He's been back to being kinda quiet and back he's used a translator at times in the zoom interview so the other thing. Is. He's having so much success. You know how guys are in the middle of a great run they don't WanNa really talk about themselves so much, and that's all we're asking is about him. So things have gone a little quiet this year, but there's good reasons behind it but from year one year too when you're two to three, he changed big time and you might be right. It might be the contract I think coming off what happened in world series in seventeen with the dodgers really affected him as well big time, and then he comes to the cubs in eighteen huge contract big market. Diehard of bands everywhere expecting the world and you know he was also injured as it turns out so that first year was a mess and then slowly but surely he came out of his show that these interviews in English teammates got the no one better 'cause even in even in eighteen. Teammates I saw with Rizzo hanging out on the road and stuff like he was still tight with teammates but not the saint he wasn't outgoing now he's outgoing and that really is true personality. So it Kinda mimics what he's done the mount he's become self again on the mound as well as in the dugout in the clubhouse and with the media.

"With Rizzo on the play, and Santana comes to 30 will be held there. The bull skipped out of play. So kidneys should be awarded second base and he will be a pretty good collision between Rizzo and kidneys and a good sign a gesture of sportsmanship of the part of both, neither intended for that to happen, so that should go as an infield hit and then an air on Ross and now the Indians have runners at second and third with two down. It's a real tough chance for Ross. As the ball goes quite a big down the third baseline, almost 1/3 of the way, maybe closer to 1/2 of the way down the line. So Ross and I had to pick it up and blindly throw as he kind of did a 3 60 turn. And the throw was into the runner. No chance for Rizzo as there was the collision. Baltimore Orioles draft pick Coby Mayo survived the Parkland school shooting. He plays to honor those who didn’t.

"My next guest, a terrible tragedy as motivation to achieve what most kids can only dream about and here to tell us about it is Kobe Mayo survivor of the Parkland shutting and now fourth. Round MLB draft pick of the Baltimore Orioles. Kobe congratulations first of all. What was that like to get that news to hear? What your dream is GonNa. Come through you a draft. Until you know the whole process. In the last three months has been crazy. Dacoven season was cut short a little bit, but you know it was that process was was very stressful, but you know. The day of the draft was just. Feeling in here, my name on TV was just it was feeling that can't even I can't even pitcher back ahead because I lost all the moments in my head, because of all the excitement from my family, my friends and it was just an amazing moment, and I really hold forever. That's incredible, but we go back now. People here, Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, two, thousand, eighteen people remember your student at this school and you know I can't imagine how that day had an impact on the students, but tell me how that day maybe change your perspective, and did it have some kind of an impact on your motivation and your drive, and ultimately getting you to where you are now. Yeah I always say to this day. If maybe that shooting never happened in might not motivated me to be where I'm at today, and you know I i. really do that day as motivation because of all the. Students were lost and teachers our Lawson. I really use ideas motivation to keep to keep going and do community you. Anthony Rizzo came back to community after the next day flew home from Chicago, he was getting ready to start a season, and he talked to the community, and it was. It was really big community to hear his voice I Kinda WanNa be that that voice. That's heard because I'm you know on to better things? Came of its strong and that's that's really what I WANNA be. Ultimate Goal Co, it sounds like. You feel like you have some type of responsibility. You were blessed. You were spared. A lot of kids were that day, but it sounds like you're taking this on as a blessing in an opportunity that you have a responsibility now to fill. Yet for sure you know those seventeen to seventeen that didn't make don't have the opportunity to fulfill their dreams, and if I can go out there and honor them, so feel my dreams. I think that that would be the biggest success that. Anyone can make the whole second. That's going on so I want I really want them to to see me reaching my goals. And hopefully they looked down and they're happy. What's up?

Looting Deals Further Blow to Small Businesses

"Many of the wounds from this week's unrest will take time to heal so too. Will the economic impact on small businesses in the protests areas? They were already struggling from the loss of revenue because of shutdowns to the virus, then just as they were taking steps to reopen, many were hit by looting were had to board up to prevent damage. Our Scott Calvert spoke to many of them, and he joins me now with more. So Scott tell us what's been happening across Philadelphia in the past week. Sure, we'll things have actually been pretty calm the last couple of days, but Saturday night. There was a lot of violence in the downtown area in center city along Walnut Street and Chestnut Street a lot of chain stores, things like that were self sustained, quite a bit of of damage, but then starting on on Sunday. The looting really spread all around the city well beyond center. Center city to business corridors all over the city. Really there were dozens of business quarters that sustained quite a quite a bit of damage, and that includes the fifty second street corridor in West Philadelphia, sustained lots of damage. There were dozens of businesses along roughly a half mile stretch that were damaged to some degree, ranging from just broken windows to completely destroyed and set on fire. And many of the small businesses you spoke with are owned by African, American and immigrant owners who found have been disproportionately impacted. Why is that? Well these independent small businesses you know they. They don't have a lot of cash. In Reserve they have oftentimes just one business, and if there's damage done to that, you know they can't necessarily get things fixed up and get back up and running. They just they just don't have a lot. In the way of resources, the way that say a large corporation would have and. And so the the effect is definitely sort of disproportionate in terms of the difficulty they face, and this a city like many large cities across America with a painful history of race relations. We saw the statue of former mayor Frank. Rizzo removed after it was vandalized last night. Scott gives us more of a sense of the historical context that these business owners are working under. Right, so, Yes Philadelphia certainly has a fraud history like a lot of cities in America and the area where I spent time in West Philadelphia on fifty second street. It's really interesting because it is often described as the main street of West Philadelphia it had a real heyday in early part of of the twentieth century and around world. War Two and extending the nineteen fifties, there was a thriving, African American, Middle Class neighborhood there and businesses to support the folks who lived in that area, and then starting in the nineteen sixties and going forward there were there was white flight and a lot of other. Other things that caused a decline there were recently the city. Philadelphia had invested a lot of resources in trying to to bring it back. The the quarter was sort of on the upswing there were there were fewer vacant storefronts and a different mix of businesses, but this is mainly a lower income African. American neighborhood right around there, and that's who the WHO the customer bases and you know. I was talking with a man who saw one of these destroyed storefronts, and he was really disheartened, because he shops there all the time they have. They have Desai's close. He needs and so he was really really sad to. To, see what had happened there and a couple of doors down actually right? Next door is a corner pharmacy that was it was cleaned out by looters, and this is a a farm neighborhood pharmacy. You know that fills prescriptions for people who live in the area who may not have a car, so there's a real direct connection between the businesses and the people who live there, and without a doubt having these businesses at least temporarily closed is going to hurt the neighborhood

"I don't think that's really how Aaron Rodgers feels. I think it's a quarterback. And so when you get to wear a red jersey every single day and training camp, no one's gonna touch, you sure. You relax and be like, oh, we'll get to it. When we get to also knows they're going to make him. In the NFL regardless of what happens. I don't know what's gonna happen, Aaron, Donald. I don't know what's going to happen Dell back. I know what's going to happen to Rogers. And so does he bread already that loan? This really not a lot to worry about baseball necks, and this is Chicago where the cubs trail, the diamondback six, four in the bottom of the night. David vote is a rookie called up from AAA. Iowa hits a game tying to over next up comes Anthony Rizzo Rizzo. Anthony Rizzo is gonna smash, four hundred fifty, three foot homing deal and walk it off for the cubs in his one thousand career game for the cubs coming back from a five run debt winning. I like the dance. Right? It's not bad. Meanwhile, the cubs added a World Series MVP Esther day acquiring left-hander Cole hamels from the Rangers for several low minor league prospects ammos will now call Wrigley home. He actually threw a no hitter there in twenty fifteen in his last start as a Phillies. So this is a significant acquisition as we are now getting really close to the baseball trade deadline. Wait to see where these starters wind up and hamels winds up in. Chicago reminds me of last year when the Houston Astros made the move Burland and it was it was huge to get him there as a guy that could take seven in. Well, that's one big movement. Here's the other one of the reasons he wound up in Chicago is because Jay half wound up with the Yankees in exchange for Brandon, very, and a AAA outfielder named Billy McKinney. Apple's ten and six this year with a four eighteen ERA, but he's been very good against the Red Sox. I don't know if they had that in mind. He's a very good pitcher right now. He's probably a better picture, then Cole hamels and so he will. He made the all star team this year. So he's a Yankee now, and that's the key is needed. And he had debt. Itching position, but it hurts that Aaron judge is no longer gets that maybe that that was for the Antes, but here's terrible middle. The Yankees are going to be without Aaron judge for so period of time. Now, saying three weeks until he can start swinging the bat again or has a chance to be back. He took that ninety three mile an hour fastball off the right wrist didn't come out of the game immediately actually. But ultimately that terminates chip fracture fracture choose me in the wrist. He can't swing a bat for at least three weeks, not sure exactly when he'll be back. He's been out of the starting lineup, fifteen times in the last two years. The anchors are five and ten in those games while averaging just three point, three runs per game with him. They're the most potent offense in the sport, and here's there's two different ways to look at this injury. The Yankees scheduled coming up twenty seven of the next thirty four games against losing teams. So you could say, well, this is the right time to get hurt, or you could say it's the worst time to get hurt because this is when they need to win every single game. If they're gonna make a chance. Make a run at catching up to Boston to me that moment when that pitch hits judge is the moment that the Red Sox won the American League east with you on that. I mean, what is it three or four games against the Red Sox. It's three against the Red Sox four against the raise or the reverse. It's one or the other, but those are the two series against winning teams. I just feel like everything you do sports in particular. If you're a hitter has to do with your wrists and that flexibility, not not being able to come back from something like that. That isn't just he'll into three weeks and not to mention Chris sale place for the rich Saad. You have elite pitching on that staff and you have the elite hitter that you're missing for your lineup..
