They wanted to ask if I'm interested in Co writing and performing the song so I was able to. Do this all. All on basically social distancing even though yeah, were out yet. We still did it remotely. And the the movie is I related to it and the sense that you know if you're a mother or you have a brother or you have an uncle, a dad something and you and you have lost somebody in banner or your family member or woman, a matter woman has gone to the military and served our country to me. It felt like it was a bit of my own service to be able to even participate in this song and honors of the lives lost. And to tell the story of this film when this tragic battle. Tio Tom's entire family. The couple were seen arriving in the country early this month to celebrate his 64th birthday. Shouldn't you be working on a movie? I was going to say it's in every movie for a while there. You know why? They probably got this right because we're Wilson was behind my big factory quitting. 00 I sure I'm sure that's part of the reason, too right talking about that which actually kind of a funny movie, So I'm sure that's why they have that
Tom Hanks goes to war (again) in the World War II drama
"19. So many of these big blockbuster movies are now going to be available on your TV as opposed to the movie theater, and this one was for the movie. Industry for the movie studios. This one must have been right on the line. Richard Roper, the new Tom Hanks movie Greyhound Big budget, lots of special effects. It's a World War two. Venture film right and they chose. They chose to go with Apple TV plus to release it. Exactly right. In fact, you know the beginning of this year way back in the day when we were going to movies in theatres I talked about this is one of the most highly anticipated films of the year because, as you mentioned it's a Tom Hanks film. And who has Dunmore in terms of entertainment movies and miniseries for World War two that Tom Hanks of her Saving Private Ryan and then band of brothers in the Pacific and Greyhound. He wrote this and actually stars in this row. And although it's not based on a true story, it's actually based on a novel. It's inspired by the very real events of the Battle of the Battle of Atlanta. Sick, which you know was waged on the Atlantic Ocean was longest running battle in all of World War two. And it was all about convoys of allied ships trying to get supplies across the pond, while German u boats were attacking from all ends. That's what this movie is all about. Now. The invention. Tom Hanks connection to war, too. And the press junket for the release of this film, So the people obviously they go out. They publicized All They want to talk to you about its Corona virus, right? Yeah, it's just tell your side of the times. Well and, of course, because Tom Hanks and his wife, Rita Wilson, were among the very, very first public figures to test positive. I believe you could correctly. I believe they're in Australia make making a movie. So, you know, I understand that and Tom Hanks has got such a no, he has. He has earned a role as more than just an actor, writer director producer. He's someone who's been around for a long time, but involved in a lot of things very intelligent and Educated guy when it comes to current events, so people do want to hear from him Now. The unfortunate part about all of this row is that Greyhound is not a great movie. In fact, I'm giving it to and 1/2 stars for the biggest disappointment. And I'll tell you why you remember. A few months ago we talked to Harrison Ford, who had done a movie called Call of the Wild or the Procedure. I he talked about how in a lot of these battle movies, war movies. They overdo it with the CG, and he actually said member, he actually said there are too many bleeping planes in the sky in a lot of these movies, and that's exactly unfortunately, what happens here. They did film some of this aboard a ship, I believe was the Canadian ship. But mostly it's CG Iroh, and it's very obvious that it is because you know the swooping cameras. It's almost like a Michael Bay movie. And so many planes in the sky and so many ships, etc. And so great special effects and then a lot of technical jargon. The problem is, we don't get to know any of the other characters other than the Tom Hanks character, and we got Haven't we don't know what we talked about the great War movies and you and I have talked about a lot of them. We did a podcast around Memorial Day about some of the great American War films. We get to know the characters first, we're emotionally invested in them, and then if something happens to one of them, or there's heroics or tragedy, it has an impact in this movie. All the characters are so superficially drawn that at one point, but Tom Hankscharacter asked a guy on the ship. He gets his name wrong and goes. I'm sorry, I'm still learning who everybody else's. And I'm like we are, too and that's never a good thing in a movie like this. Wow. Oh, that's That is so disappointing. When does it I'm still gonna watch. When does it premiere tonight? Or tomorrow? Tomorrow? And I will say this, too. I do think it might look better on the big screen. You know, maybe those special effects on a giant screen they either could've been magnified or they would have played better. He watching it in a home viewing environment. It just took me out of the film like I'm saying, Well, they clearly did this with computer generated stuff, and I think they just fell in love with the

"Welcome back. It was a wakeup call for a lot of folks when they discovered that Rita Wilson and Tom Hanks announced that they had contracted the corona virus early on. But now Rita's bouncing back and making up for lost time. That was her new single whereas my country song and tonight she's making an appearance on the bachelor presents. Listen to your heart. Joining us now from Los Angeles is Rita Wilson. Good Morning Rita Wilson. Good morning ladies. It's so nice to. I can't see you but I know what you look like so good morning. It's nice to see some. This is what so now that you guys have recovered the UN. Tom Tell folks what you're doing because you're paying it forward. Tell us how well. Fortunately we were tested. When we got home for antibodies which we have which means that we can donate plasma and tom has already donated plasma. I'll be doing it next week. It's really incredible to be able to help others. Who may be suffering from Kobe? Nineteen by using plasma and hoping people get better hope that works so you and Tom are co chairs along with Michelle Obama of when we all vote a nonpartisan organization working to close the race and age voting gaps. What are you doing to tell us what you're doing to make sure the pandemic won't hinder people from voting in November the election. I'm very worried about that. Well it's when we all vote and glad you mentioned. It is bipartisan. Because it really is for Americans just to remember that we have this very valuable right which is the right to vote and when we all work is a place that you can go to to get three friends to register to vote in also you can sign up for taking the census but it's a way to also ensure you're legislators that you can get Either mail in ballots or early voting. Some people want to come in early in person and a lot of states need to be offering that opportunity to do that. So it's a way to put your voice in on that petition. That will allow you to vote. In the way that you feel most comfortable with you know we still are in the middle of a pandemic. Were still taking precautions. So some people don't feel comfortable going into a polling place and we want to ensure that every American gets the right to vote that's doing it mailing in Then we've got make that happen so when we all vote dot were go there all the information is there Rita Megan. You recently appeared in People Magazine's beautiful issue wearing no makeup. And you look absolutely gorgeous. After two months of isolation there's a lot of women in the media and in the world that have less polished appearances and are getting a lot of flack for it What do you make that? I'm sorry you broke up on the last part of that question. Can you just repeat that? Sorry Oh sure just that women are looking less than one hundred percent polished and are getting flak Ford. I know the women of the view have been subjected to a lot of criticism. Because we're all doing our own hair and makeup. What do you think of that their for it for listen to your heart for their looking less polished? I'm not sure about that. I think that's what you asked. But here's what I would say about that. Wouldn't it be wonderful if everybody could just be themselves the way that we feel most comfortable being ourselves and sometimes I think that there is a demand or pressure put on ourselves to look a certain way and I have found it liberating to do my own stuff? I mean the like this is it. You know what you see is what you get and believe me. I love my hair and makeup people but I feel like it's just Way To sort of take a deep breath and say I accept myself the way I am and sometimes I do the live things I complete frizz coming off the top of my head. It is what it is people. You know. We'll be back to our glam squad suited but I don't think nobody should be judged for doing the best that they can to look the best thing at this time Rita Rita. Let me help you plug something important for you and for everybody. You say that you new single. Where's my country song is a tribute to a hard work? All the hardworking moms out there everywhere including your own mother. Tell us about that before you have to go I. The song was written about really the women who are doing the most important work sometimes in our lives for me that would be being the mother and sometimes those women are single mothers and sometimes there are people who we come in contact with our. We don't come in contact with people who are working in warehouses or offices or factories or sometimes where in our own hands and we don't notice third people behind the counter or at the cash register and I read this really interesting piece of the New York Times which said that eighty eighty five percent of essential workers in America are now women and I think women have always been those women who have been working behind the scenes and sometimes music doesn't really reflect the the lives of those women in the stories of those women. Sometimes women are idealized music as being you know. Hot and great in you know so succeed. That's good too but I wanted to explore writing about the women that are really behind the scenes and making everything happened raising kids on their own. Sometimes Rena we want to make sure that you know we. We're thrilled about the new single with ruled that you came to see us come see us again. Read a Wilson her single. Where's my country? Song is out now. And you're on the bachelor presents. Listen to your heart. Finale which airs tonight at eight seven central right here on ABC. We will see you again..

"Okay so rudy. Matt are in the middle of we. We don't know we don't know where they are. They're probably on a sound stage. So let's be honest. We don't know where they are but the rest of the couples in Vegas and we see the date car I ate car. Looks like it's brand crest. They go to a wedding chapel. Did you pursue Brian Chris? We're going to get married. No I was like. There's no way but you never know what the show but but I will say. I liked that. They were asked to perform for the couple of Mary. Yes that was a good tweet. Yes one interracial couple singing for an interracial couple getting married. I see what you did there bachelor. You know what it reminded me out. It reminded me of when on my season when I went to Peter's hometown. And he was like over. GonNa meet my friends and I don't know if everybody knows this but usually it's family right. It's rare occasion that you meet the friends unless there's maybe some issue with the family or maybe there's just like you can't do it that way but the goal is to to meet the family so when he's like you're to meet their friend my friends. I had a weird feeling and I sit down and here come as friends. And it's two couples that are interracial and I remember when they walked in. I just looked at my producer and I really could you in the words of Chandler being. Could you be anywhere obvious at this point really? All racial couples are going to sit down together like stop. That's what it reminded me of it anyways. It was Swede. They sounded so cute singing with one another. You can tell Rian Chris or in love no trauma. It's just it's just pretty to watch and the one part that stuck out to me was not actually singing together and you know performing for this couple's wedding it was the coversation after and we. We got the back story. Last week of Chris's dad had passed away and that he thinks you know his dad would've loved bree but he goes into more and I seriously it was so touching him so I wasn't touching people touching but it was so touching listened to him because I I can relate so much to grasp because my dad passed away and when I was falling in love with Garrett I kept saying Garrett felt like home. He reminded me of my dad. And I think I've ever met Kristin Bruce. I don't know I can't speak for him but I think it's very comparable to that where he just feels like that sense of ease. And I wrote in my notes between Chris and Brealey. There's just this comfort level than I think. Couples who are really in love and just really feel that connection. It's there with them and you can see it and so Chris. If you're listening to this podcast thank you for opening up more. It's just really sweet and specialty here. Somebody you know going through similar things and I'm sure there's people out there who have definitely lost parents in who Can feel some sort of concurrently crystal bit in that sense and so it was. It was a sweet moment between them. Okay it's no surprise that these days it's making it very difficult to exercise regularly and to stay as active as we once could. Obviously of the gyms closed our favorite yoga and Palaudi studios. Aren't which is why.

Heavy Social Distancing
"Feel like everyone is pretty freaked out about crony virus for very good reason. It's very freaky and it just seemed like I don't know like why not it's for you and me like we got something out of it. We get to talk and hang out and maybe stop thinking about her for a little while and also for the struggle buddies who maybe just like want something. I feel like a lot of people are trying really hard to think about Think about things and watch things and listen to things that aren't completely terrifying also elections and politics and there's a lot happening in the world so we're trying to do something nice for you while we're both well at least speaking on my behalf freaking out a little. Bit New York just declared a state of emergency and there's a bunch of things my show might be cancelled. There's there's a lot of things happening right now. That are very scary for me and I could really use this fun time with you sally. Yeah let's have a fun time. I'm I'm doing okay. I mean I find this to be pretty scary just I feel Scared about like the the fact that the dumbest meanest man on the planet is in charge of taking care of us right now. That feels scary. I I worry about people who can't work from home or like don't have paid leave which we should all have right now. We should all have that always anyway. people who like have to go to work You know like the fact that we can't rely on the government to support US during a healthcare crisis of this magnitude is just like fucking awful in scary so that is getting me down and like it's also just like you know if you read enough science fiction you know this is the this is kind of like the nightmare. Fuel of many a dystopia novel. So it's scary shit And you know at the same time I feel like it's important to be kind of realistic about you. Know what the data is showing us. And what the risks are and stuff like that because I personally Work really hard not to spiral down the drain of catastrophic thinking. And so this has really put me to the test But you know I'm doing okay. I'm doing okay And I have to say PA- go ahead go ahead. I was going to say it's hard not to You know when when people like myself and you have a catastrophic thinking earnings when it actually does happen when the bad things do happen to recognize it and also understand like okay. This is real. This is not in my imagination and honor it and give it some space and let yourself sit with it because it is you know. I don't want to bum everyone out but this is very serious. It's very and the way in which you put it. I think is the best way is that we wish that the people we elected the people we pay their taxes to Would be helping us out more and unfortunately we are now helping our neighbors out quite literally and figuratively without getting into great detail. I do have people directly affected by this virus who have been tested positive. And that's very scary to me. Not because I can't get over it because I'm younger and healthy as it were but I know people whose immune systems are compromised or people who are older and it would terrify me to pass this on. So I'm rethinking the Wayne which I'm doing many things right now because it's it's here and it's happening in Israel. Yeah Yeah Yeah I agree I'm like I have to say that. Like today has been better for me than yesterday because this is the first day that. I'm seeing a lot of places and people and like things rethink what they're doing and I you know I i. There are like much more event cancellations and much more of things like closing down and schools closing and stuff like that which you know it. It sucks and is terrible and it. It harms people financially and the whole thing is really fucked up and at the same time this is what needs to happen to contain this to the extent that we can and what I yesterday and earlier in the week I was getting I was feeling really anxious like it just felt like so many people were behaving like business is business as usual like people who were holding big events or going into work or were employers some employers stiller doing it and it's terrible And I feel today like like. There's more of a like kind of wakeup call and I don't. I don't know if it's because of like Tom. Hanks Wilson's husband about that. Yeah I feel like it's because Rita Wilson's husband tested positive and So now people are taking it seriously so you know I like the whole thing is really scary but I guess what I'm saying is that like there are also reasons to like be reassured throughout all of this So anyway I don't know I guess we maybe. Let's not talk about because many people don't want to hear the survival rate is very high. I mean the chances of succumbing to this very low so it's sort of important to note that but I think you brought up a great point that at least we're now looking at societal contract. We're looking at the fact. Pay Leave things like that are now becoming real to people if they weren't before So I think that's that's the silver lining I guess. Yeah Oh there's one more silver lining sally. Tell me Watson the dog next door. Oh yeah now that. His owners are working from home. No more barking. Oh my God I had. I left some good news. I have slept so well. 'cause watching doesn't bark when the owners leave because they're not only in fact. I saw him on the street today. I'm like working from home. They don't know me in real life so I didn't say hi to them but I watched them across the street and I was like well. Well well. The Old Silver Lining Watson is finally S. T. F.
Mixed reviews for administration's handling of coronavirus
"All right so last night. President trump basically said to corona virus. I'm in control here. And Corona Virus said to you in control so things are not going great out there with the grown of the big problem of course continued lack of information. The testing kits were not widely available. We just don't know how many people in the United States actually have corona virus. We don't even know how many people abroad have for a virus. What we do know is that there's certain measures that have been taken the harsher the measure Z teams. The faster the Groenemeyer is brought under control. This is true in Wuhan. It was true in South Korea where you've seen a significant bending of the curve. That is what people are calling it. The curve being the number of people who are infected and then number of people who are dying this obviously means that people are now getting increasingly serious and cautious about going to wide scale public events. Now that if you're young and you go to a big public event you're GonNa but that if you go to a public event you may become a carrier or transmitter to somebody who is more vulnerable. Somebody with a pre existing condition. Somebody who doesn't have a strong IMMUNE SYSTEM. Cancer Patients Leukemia patients. People who are older. All of this is is deeply frightening. I mean there's no other way to put it. You look the news. It's hard not to be scared and the reason it's hard not to be scared as when you see Italy shutting down every public space like all public spaces except for grocery stores and pharmacies. No Church services going on in Italy no stores open in Italy when you see Israel shutting down not only all travel all public events over one hundred people when you see people trying to shut down public events in Washington state. Obviously all of this is predicated on the notion. That Corona virus is easily transmitted which as far as we know is true and also that corona virus is a lot more deadly than the flu which is far as we know is also true but it does differ based on age bracket. It is irresponsible reporting to suggest that every person who who takes coup gets corona virus is equally likely to die of it or experienced significant ramifications from corona virus the younger. You are the better chance you have of recovering from this end. Even if you're older the majority of the people who are getting it are indeed recovering. The death rates of even for people eighty yes. It's like fifteen percent which so unbelievably high really frightening. But that means that eighty five percent of the people getting it above the lady are recovering from Corona virus. But it is lack of information that of course is scaring the living. Hell out of everyone. And this means that president trump stepping into the fray and presenting. Some sort of plan here was absolutely necessary. President trump did that last night. He got some mixed reviews. Let's put it that way but first let's get to the actual news yesterday. The World Health Organization declared a pandemic of virus disease covered nineteen according to the Washington Post the WHO declared corona virus abandoning reflecting alarm. The countries aren't working quickly and aggressively enough to fight. Disease Causes Cove in nineteen. They're deeply concerned by both the alarming levels of spreading severity and the alarming levels of an action said W. H. O. Director General throws at Hunnam Aces for weeks now the WHO has hesitated to make pandemic declaration for fear of inciting panic or prompting some countries flag in their efforts. Even though many epidemiologist believed the corona virus had already spread to pandemic levels but on Wednesday. Tether rose noted the widespread scale of the outbreak. Said there are now more than one hundred eighteen thousand cases in one hundred and fourteen countries over. Four Thousand People. Forty two hundred ninety one at that count have lost their lives in the days and weeks ahead. We expect to see the number of coronavirus cases. The number of deaths and the number of affected countries climb even higher tomorrow said that the pandemic is not a word to be used lightly or carelessly. It's award. Misuse can cause unreasonable. Fear or unjustified acceptance that the fight is over leading to unnecessary suffering and death the. Who's announcement does not trigger any new funding protocols or regulations? Basically scares the living. Hell out of everyone is what you get from that. It's not that anybody then gets released. Funding thanks to like if you declared a national emergency in the United States that gives additional powers to the government. That's not the same thing for the. Who when they declare pandemic it. Basically has the same effect as Michael Scott going to the center of the office and shouting. I declare bankruptcy like okay. Thanks Super Helpful okay. Would that said the NBA has now put it season on hold after one player tested positive for corona virus are now finding out that a second player has tested positive for run virus according to the La Times the NBA on Wednesday indefinitely. Suspended the two thousand Nineteen Two Thousand Twenty season after Utah Jazz Center Rudy. Gobert tested positive for cove in nineteen. Just a couple of days ago. Gobert who apparently was coughing and locker room. He jokingly went around He. Pressroom started touching everything. Like as a joke. Started touching all the microphones. He started touching all the reporters stuff while turns out dude head Corona virus and now it turns out that another player has come down with corona virus as well according to the League. The test result was reported. Shortly prior to the tip off of tonight's game between the Jazz Oklahoma City thunder at Chesapeake Energy Arena. All the players refused to play because they are afraid that they're going to be infected with the alien viruses locker room the NBA will use this hiatus to determine next steps moving forward in regards to the corona virus. Pandemic Mark Cuban. Who's the owner of the Dallas Mavericks? He came out yesterday. He said that he's going to try and find a way to continue paying his hourly employees which is really cool thing to do. Obviously the Lakers and clippers were considered favorites for the championship. Lakers landed in China for exhibition games. After an international incident. This was just. The end of last year Lakers employees are being advised to work from home for the foreseeable future. The clippers will not practice on Thursday. Meanwhile we're now finding out the Tom. Hanks Rita Wilson have tested positive for corona virus which is always good news and by good news. I mean just ridiculous in horrifying so even celebrities. Scarola CORONA virus falls on the on the blessed and the un-blessed alike as first reported by deadline the Academy Award winner and his wife or animal -cation in Australia for pre production of a film on Elvis Presley when they began experiencing symptoms hanks wrote in a statement first published by deadline and later share to twitter. We felt a bit tired like we had colds. That's body aches. Read ahead some shows that came and went slight fevers to to play things right as needed in the world right now tested for corona virus and were found to be positive thanks went on to say that he and Wilson will be tested observed an isolated for as long as public health and safety require a meanwhile as I mentioned we. We now have a breaking piece of news that Jazz Star Donovan. Mitchell has tested positive for virus as well jazz players privately say that Rudy Gobert had been clicked careless in the locker room touching other players and their belongings as well. So that's scary stuff. Reuters reporting the president airboats narrow of Brazil is being tested for Corona virus. We know the Health Minister of Great Britain has corona virus. So this thing is it is widespread it is. It is hitting a lot of people. It would not be surprising to me that if universal testing were available in the United States hundreds of thousands of people would have grown a virus. Already that would not be shocking at all the Brazilian government spokesman who met with President Trump last weekend and was pictured standing next to him has now tested positive for corona virus as well so you would hope that the president of the United States has been tested for corona virus. The Brazilian President mentioned is now being monitored for viruses scheduled for the week was cancelled. Both were with Donald Trump and Mike pence last Saturday at mar-a-lago as well so all of this is All of this is deeply disturbing. We're going to get to more of this in just one second and president trump's response which as I say is receiving at best mixed reviews and frankly those mixed reviews are

S. which which one was your shocker Mike I think it's the N. B. A. postponing its season I guess I don't I've now with players being ill it makes sense a little bit but if that is a huge that is the ripple effects of what this could do to the NBA with the south salary cap implications with revenue being down this could have a longer term effect than anything else the March madness will go on or will be happen again next year but the offense it could have on the NBA in their contracts because of this that that to me is a big surprise I agree that it's the NBA but think of how many people are not going to get paid or at least I don't know how many how many people could not get paid you got people who work in all the arenas the concession stand to get the restaurant was very near where the sun's plane downtown Phoenix I mean there's a lot of revenue that's going to be lost games I don't even know if they'll start the season up again I agree with you I think you for me the big shock with the NBA you know I don't know if you saw the story mark Cuban mark Cuban is saying he's going to try to pay as employees and you know the work around the arena is going to try to pay them for as long as he can I try to help them survive this which I thought was a nice gesture I'm not I am not a Dallas Mavericks fan but that was a pretty big gesture I think yeah I mean you know you probably have the money to do it a lot of owners probably have the money to do it but you've got it you know ask yourself how long is it is the NBA season you know going to be put on the shelf or you gonna pay everybody for the rest of the season and maybe just forget about the rest of the season but you pay everybody out it's it's a possibility but you know mark Cuban is one of the few owners that might be able to pull that off we'll see what Starbird does I'm heard anything from the sun's yet yeah we have heard nothing from the sun's yet I I it's got to be up in the air with what they've the leagues are gonna do some people don't want to speak and say the wrong thing but how how would you like to be Atlanta RT hosting the final four this year I mean that is a big deal for city we had it here a couple of years ago it is a big deal nationally to have that you you pay the money you work hard you get it done and then boom look what happens hotels restaurants you know fun places to go and visit in Atlanta all are not going to see any economic boom from the NC double a final portrait like white changed yesterday thanks but it's on the show yesterday like changed at least in the short term yesterday and it was a it was a weird year he kind of feeling during the show to watch all this stuff come down and then get off the air at six he Tom Hanks get out the R. sixty D. N. B. A. you can go down the toilet just weird man it is a weird feeling out there and it was interesting comments made by the vice president saying that you know the epicenter is shifted from from China to Europe and so that's where the travel ban to Europe is coming in that that is a huge I've not just the airlines but again the tourism industry in Europe especially in Italy that is really where they make a big part of their living yeah but why why are we shutting down South Korea I mean South Korea is you know in pretty bad shape right now but we're still taking place in comparison make any sense to me the shutdown from Europe want to get shut it down to South Korea what they said was what pence was saying is that when they look at the epicenter of this thirty out of thirty five cases are now shifted are coming from Europe now that the epicenter is shifted from South Korea and China that's why they felt more confident but again I don't know that anybody has that has any idea yet no I think we look at Italy and say we definitely don't want that to happen because all of Italy or shut down and I mean what we're feeling in America as well maybe some people won't go to church this weekend or maybe I'll skip the movie theater or you know how a restaurant's really gonna wipe the plate down and sanitize it I mean we're all kind of getting used to those questions right now and we're asking that amongst our family so yeah absolutely any other part of here is what are they gonna do with spring training yeah I mean I don't know if it matters if it's not in close you know that's the only thing I could think of it not in an arena and if you know your outside I don't know that really got probably doesn't do very much and you're still gonna be touching stuff yeah I don't know man I think we're gonna get more news today or stop shutting down absolutely again this is always a it's good talking with you and I love the question all right thank them all right thanks ghetto said the the Gaels big you poll question today is brought to you by your valley Toyota dealers going away on a corona virus obviously the topic what we do after the top of the hour we talk Wall Street we talk about some of these things specifically what the NBA is done what the NHL is doing what's happening here in Arizona the economic impact the ripple effect the economic impact and some of the things that may surprise you about this because this long term we don't know what it's going to be but in the short term with everything clipping along the way it has been financially and economically in America really without anything showing us to slow down we were seeing job numbers growing the economy grow there didn't seem to be an end in sight and then all of a sudden put on the brakes and take five steps backwards what does this do not just long term to us but to the psyche of the Americans and to the economy of America and the rest of the world so all that coming up in a few moments as we continue now with the wall that the economic impact of coronavirus this is.

Hayes is the kind of loose puzzle piece in the whole thing of it all yet. He's the son of Tom and Rita. They have their oldest son sons. He's a rapper slash actor slash instagram user and people often he comes up sometimes and then he goes away and then he comes up then he goes away and he's currently coming up because he was at the golden goal to this parents he also like recently in the past four years got sober and had a kid so like his life was just very drama and now it's a little bit less drama. He's wingless academian more less wrapping and more acting and he sort of quieted down down. Yeah everyone could see less of him but that sort of a good thing whatever right but everyone forgot about him and then he was front and center at the Golden Globes last night. Everybody I was like. Oh yeah remember like Tom. Hanks son who's like a little bit yeow unexpectedly Tom. Hey brought the whole. They brought the whole all clan there today all the kids. They brought the kids with Tom. Tom Hanks's other kids. His his non-readers children his children. Even his non on reader children are invited. Children were on. Hank's is a Non Rita Child. Don't comment directly about what Chet Hayes is doing like they're really not like getting they're not really we see their pr person is like just. Don't just don't talk about it. It's fine Rita's. Night was not without drama of her own. She she needed a laugh. She tweeted around God win was. When did she tweet this around the Golden Globes the Golden Globes start at noon? La Time so this was probably around six am she between my hair and makeup is person is one hour and twenty minutes late next week hair and makeup is still not here trying to be then next week booked this person in September hair and makeup. Still not here. And if that's like not bad. She went over to instagram because the woman loves to cross platform tweeted a instagram picture of herself with like her hair. That looked slightly curly. Not Not blown out not done up and said we're I don't even have the link but like the version of those tweets again. My hair and makeup person is late. I this is about one thirty. La Time is when she tweeted and she said what you look like when your hair and makeup person for the Golden Globes as one and a half hours late even though you booked him in September will leave one hour to do hair and makeup. What the only leave him what she's like? How will I do this? One in one hour. Will you know when I saw that night. And she figured it out she looked great loved. Always pulls is through. Julianne Moore commented. Oh my God I feel you. Michelle pfeiffer commented heart. Kate Bosworth commented. Oh that's the craziest feeling healing and of course the most Christie comment which was I cannot go on until I know who I have no life. It's like who the fuck needs to know who the makeup artist test is. Like Rosanna. arquette is on a different planet and just as beauty love you bravo Rose rose rose. Rose Rose Clap Clap Balloon. Peace sign for ransom. Wow that's really funny Roseanne Arquett. What's happening Rita Wilson? And I'm not saying this about evidence like Bu- via unnamed sources but also also these tweets themselves like she's kind of a monster I mean. Come on no. I feel feel like celebrities like love her but Jesus Christ yeah I mean. The rumor mill is grinding out. News that she's a bit of a monster but that's okay not not everyone I mean especially. You're a monster. When you're married to Tom Hanks just by comparison? Let's juxtaposed these two people. You come across across as a little more monstrous whenever your husband is saying. It's true like the sacrifice you make by being married to Tom. Hanks that you come off as a monster. Because it's like Mr Rogers is why people are like you know. I Love Fred but his wife was a bitch Da. She was a baby. She was slightly mean. Once you know but I I do feel like looking at read those tweets. I'm just like what is hurt. What's your damage? Lady looking at those three tweets.

Set you into a time and a place. Okay it's the morning of the Golden Globes and Rita Wilson Elson rolls out of bed. She so excited okay. She's glowing. She's a newly minted. Greek citizen and her husband. Tom Hanks is about to be honored with the Cecil. B Komo award at the Golden Globes. But wait something's not right. What time is it? And why isn't her hair and makeup person here. He's he's nowhere to be found. That's when Rita Wilson whips out her phone and starts firing off some nut too happy tweets. Still not here. who trying to be then? She then added a third tweet saying book to this person in September hair and makeup. Still not here then. Wow Rita's day was totally

And Secondly, just having a star on the holidays, walk of fame automatically make you a them. Okay. Crunch crunch gets one belt on by Rita Wilson. Who were them? I think she's thinks she's who I think in her mind. She's the number one them. I think in Tom Hanks's mine. I think everyone around her really feeds into her delusions her like, wonderful delusions. But I think that read 'em again Rita Wilson is one of my favorite Hollywood stars. I'd like actually adore her and think that she's genuinely an in exuberant positive and well liked person by like everyone seriously. I do I do like her. It does seem like everyone likes her because she's in everything, but she always plays the exact same character, which is completely fine. She knows her niece, and she sticks. She's the French girl. Got there by girl. I'm gonna go pick the kids up from the from the from the playground. I gotta go. But you've got this girl the conic friend since like sleeps in Seattle like literally. And that's she. So she's plays. She's obviously been acting since she was acting before then. But I think like the first role that she had. His it's like a kid. She was in sleepless in Seattle as the friend, Susie. And she was that person. And she has been that person since nineteen Ninety-three up until Gloria bell until worry about when she is that person yet again, she and Tom have play tone, which production company, and they've produced a lot of really successful films and a few of which which Tom describes in his speech at her walk of fame. They produce my big fat Greek wedding, which was enormous gave Neo Dallas a free pass for life. They produce mommy, which is one of the highest grossing movies of all time like the UK, mommy here we go again. And they produced my big fat Greek wedding to which flopped, but like play tone did well and a according play tone did. Well, I love about play towns. Hit play tones hair redesign. These are two things where Rita went to some small show. That's very cheesy in Hawley deep Hollywood as you may know, the theater in Hollywood, not so great, but read a one. To see a one woman show, my big fat Greek wedding and read a went to see mommy of the musical. And she decided that both things would make great movies, and she went home. And she said, Tom these would make great movies because Tom is a good husband and understanding husband. He was like sure Reid, do whatever the fuck you want. And she did. And that's how they were hitting mega hits like huge among this mega. I walked out of mommy of musical like, I hated that freakin musical, and I love those movies. So, you know, apparently, I'm fully off. Grossing all time at the UK box office. It's the best selling DVD of all time in Sweden..

"The brew they d stain these these ju soon like a lotta people we followed jio career in film and tv kfi is an dc they act in an and stuff is a different kind the disciplines music horizontal policies being a performer un it's a twopart answer i think that the first part is that in terms of writing music oh my gosh that game that's just my thought process coming up with brilliant in a guys the songwriting process is very very different because you apps so much control over what you're doing what you're writing in the voice you on a half and what you want to say and with acting it so much somebody else's words m the direction and the editing it's sort of like you do your thing but then it's out of your hands and you don't know what's going to happen to it but as a songwriter an producer i think i have more say in that so i love the the process of having a deeper connection to the music but when i think of performing at love performing live and i've done bunch theater and um and performing live music louie i love i love it so much i chore as much as i can um last year i did my own tour in that i went on the road with chicago the band who are amazing and you know grew up listening to them so that connection i have with an audience i i love whether it's through a script or through a song to me that's you know i love that if you call any kind of regular routine that you adopt now for writing songs.

"I don't have my or recent stories but i have a connie britain's story which is that i had written a song in nashville i don't mean nashville the tv show at national the town with blair daily in kelly archer and it's called strong tonight and i went in and i said you know i feel like if you're a woman you're always the one that sort of like keeping the free it feels like you're the one that's keeping all the balls in the air and you're juggling you know being a mom working being an artist and you know taking care of people in things and what happens if you just let go of that and so we wrote the song strong tonight and when the album came out i had a listening party and one of the people there was the music supervisor for the tv show nashville and she said oh i i i think i like one of these songs for the show and you have to understand i was obsessed with that show i was like a stalker for the show nashville i had like scenarios in my head of a character i could play raina james is best friend than i would take her out we'd have a great time we would write songs together and we would be like heavy lou harris and dolly parton in linda ronstadt when they did trio and you know i just built a scenario in my head of why i should be on the tv show nashville and of course i would write my songs and they would be the songs that we'd say fans so i do get a call from the music supervisor and she says we're going to use your song strong tonight for the tv show and i was completely blown away that was the you know just a wonderful feeling and so i always like to say that i may have not gotten on the tv show nashville but my song did good.

"On as she brought in another songwriter called jason reeves who has written a lot with colby kallay he wrote a bubbly with her and realize them and he uh and and keira we wrote our first two songs together and one of them called grateful ended up on my original album rita wilson which as you now very hard to come up with that panel and that started the process because with my first album am fm which was all cover songs in the '60s and '70s i had opened for the band sugarland and christian bush the founder of that ban had said to me if you ever wanna do any songwriting let me know i'd love to write with you and so when i wrote the two songs with keira and jason i actually contacted christian and said were you series about that is absolutely so we wrote a song called every day that's also on the album so i guess i started having a little bit more courage at that point and between writing in national and la that's where i sort of i guess found myself becoming a songwriter pete hasinam ways been this way the now two anna green follow a brave his these zan in vote god is no.

"The inability to find your community i grew up in in hollywood california what the hollywood high school and i didn't know anyone who was in a bander who wrote music or who knew anyone who did that or was a singer and i would have left of done music at that age but i i just didn't know how to do it the closest thing i got two songwriters was being a ticket taker at the universal amphitheater and the reason that job was so great is because you would take the physical ticket tear it in half go and count the tickets you know as people were getting into the theater and watching the opening act and then we had the privilege of being able to watch all of the acts come through there during the summer so i saw people like joni mitchell and linda ronstadt crosby stills nash the eagles steve martin doing comedy and carole king james taylor it just went on and on so i remember thinking oh my god how do i get up there how did they start where was there point zero where how do you do that and that by then i had already been acting and that was sort of taking precedence because i was working fortunately but it was always in the back of my mind like i guess that's the one that got away in a music so um it wasn't until i had an idea to do a a show like broadway show or an offbroadway show that was going to be dealing with music from the 70s and i went to talk to a friend of mine jay landers who uh is a very very wellknown in our guy about the music from that peer.
