Police officer charged with lying about leaks to Proud Boys leader

"A Washington police officer has been arrested and charged with lying about leaking confidential information to an extremist group leader. In indictment alleges Metropolitan Police lieutenant Shane lamothe ward, former Proud Boys leader at rique tarrio two years ago that there was an arrest warrant for tarrio related to group members destroying a Black Lives Matter banner. Le Mans also charged with obstruction. Tarrio was convicted earlier this month on seditious conspiracy charges related to the capitol riot. Jurors in that trial, her testimony that Le Mans often gave tarrio internal information about law enforcement operations, leading up to the riot, Sagar Meghani, Washington.

"I actually like the topic. I obviously, I'm going on a rant about it. I like the topic. I like the questions. I like to have conversations about it because I am, again, a huge believer of continuing to find ways to bridge that gap in between the highest levels of the collegiate level and the pros and how do we, you know, again, just you can't connect them fully because they're two different entities. But how is there a way that we can help, you know, again, players understand that the system, the styles, the culture that they're getting ready to walk into? Completely agree. It's a topic we could do like 15 other episodes on. All right, next team. Indiana fever, completely agree with you. I know we've talked about the fever a fair amount in recent episodes. Maybe people are sick of it. So we'll throw in one more team after it and I'll be brief. But you are a 100% right. They have more cap room than they can do with it. And the funny thing is that isn't like they were in that same situation a few years back when they had a different GM, not going to throw shade, so I'm not going to say the name. But back then, they were just throwing crazy money at vets. Now, they're saying, let's hold on to some of that money. Let's wait. And they're in a position where they can have a, look, this isn't going to be the type of camp that you're having in New York. Where it's just a legit you have a championship roster and a couple of people are fighting for those last few spots and you're looking for a specific role player a lot. This is going to be a tough one for the fever because when you're in this situation where you can sign that many young rookies, you kind of have to make that decision of okay are we going to have some like would we rather have growing pains now for a better future a year down the road into the season, beginning of next season, middle of next season, or do you want to sign players that have a little bit more experience Maya Caldwell, Christy Wallace? And then, you know, maybe be a little bit better now, but aren't as good in the future. And that's kind of the scale that they're on right now. Look, 6 players are a lot, Kelsey Mitchell. Erica Wheeler, Victoria vivians, Emma cannon, and Melissa Smith and Leah Boston. In my opinion, those are the definite definite locks. Now, players that I expect you wouldn't add queen egg bow in that? The only reason I don't. Perfect segue, Rachel. These are expected, but in my mind not necessarily locks, egbo, Lexi hall, and destiny Henderson. And the reason they are is because if I'm the coach, I or the GM, I a 100% are bringing them on and I like them. All of that said, as you pointed out, they did just have a really good draft where I could very easily see them signing. Grace, Boston, mixl, and saxton. So like, where at some point, there's only 12 spots, you gotta push some, it's like the old saying, I don't have any space for that in my head. Let me forget something so I can remember that. You know what I mean? You can't just add a billion people. So, and that's not even talking about bernadette hatar. Caldwell, Wallace. So like, for me, they've got some really tough decisions to make. Exactly. Huge decisions I would not be shocked to see any combination, but essentially you have over 260 K well over 260 K in open cap space to sign three players who are going to be at rookie scale slash minimum contracts, AKA 70 or less. So you have no problem signing those three players and having money left over in case an injury happens for quick signings and whatnot. So for me, if I'm a WNBA fan, that's one of the most intriguing teams in camp right now because like, again, there's players you can expect, that team is going to have some shockers. That team's going to have some players who you thought were going to be making that Indiana fever team, but also I would say this. The Indiana fever are a team that have a fair amount of young talent that if you see them do an early cut, I would not be shocked to see another team kind of kind of hop on that pounce on that. And let's see, one other team, Rachel, pick me one other team I'll quickly run down it. Let's do Dallas. Dallas. Dallas is a very interesting one. And I say that about all of them because I'm a nerd and I got really into all these teams and I think it's really interesting. But you have essentially in my mind 5 locks, right? You have rique, Natasha Howard, Tierra Macao and diamond to shields and satu. Those 5 are the locks upon locks upon locks. And then you have danger field, a walk, Burton, Dickey, and 86 K open, assuming you sign those players. Now that's enough for one player with a little bit of change left over. But if they cut Charlie Collier, their number one pick from a few years back, which in my mind, if they don't cut her, it's because a certain GM is letting his pride get the best of him. But

"Enrique tarrio and the other leaders of the Proud Boys for seditious conspiracy is a significant win for the Justice Department. Legal analyst Laurie Levinson says that seditious conspiracy charge carries a prison term of up to 20 years. CBS Scott mcfarlane covered the trial. One of the four men convicted rique tarrio wasn't at the capitol. He was up near New York at the time, but prosecutors argued successfully he was part of the plotting and planning to block the peaceful transfer of power in America, a conspiracy that was seditious. That gives the Justice Department enormous leverage if they are to charge other key figures who were not at the capitol on January 6th. "I mean, you know where I stand, like, I didn't like the solidly pick last year. I don't like picking players. And it's a bad sign of things to come. Just in general. But like you said, if it works out, stays healthy and continues to grow as a player. Definitely has a high ceiling. So I'm with it. I just would not have, I don't want to be mean to Dallas. I just wouldn't have done it. I wouldn't have done that either. But Dallas, I'll look at it. It's a risk. It's an absolute risk, but I kind of get where they're coming from because they don't, they want to be more set up, I believe, going forward in terms of in terms of where they're going to be. They don't want to have, I don't think they want to continue having all of these picks. Is there issue? But they still have two next two first rounders next year. So they still have two first renders next year, and the following year, I believe they only have their own now. Yeah. So they only have their own in 2025. But still, that's a lot of picks, right? That's a lot of picks for a team to have. So I understand the mentality of it of like this player, we can get her in and see what she's like and then not have to have her on the roster this year because someone's getting cut from these teams, right? Not everyone can make a team. So I get it, but I don't think I would have ended up doing it. Then right after that, the next pick was also kind of a shocker. With Lula pistachio, going 5th. And you know, hey, I'm a big loo fan. 44% from three this year. You can't play or you can't players get a lot of benefit of that for me because I play in the pro system. She can hit pull ups, she can hit catch and shoots. One of the best views on draft, and for my money, the second best shooter in the draft. But she is a really, really good shooter, and they wanted someone who I think could do exactly what she wanted and just taking her 5th. I don't know. Maybe other teams were hiring around her, I didn't have her that high. So maybe they were forced to take her there in case they would miss. Yeah, I mean, I don't know what the alternative is with as far as what they're looking for. Because they were able to get some players late that were still around that I probably didn't see, but I also think Lou, just from just from her comma, I mean, we're talking about a player from Fairfield who and we thought her collegiate career was over. I did not expect what she was going to do at Yukon. Complete surprise. I mean, she might have been, I mean, might have been. She was the best offensive player on the team. Yeah. Yeah, I think that's fair, so. And the potential is out there. I haven't seen potential way too much, but just the draft, baby. But yeah, I'm just so damn proud of you. That is so, so sick. And I hope I hope she tears it up. I mean, I still got to look at the whole composition of this roster to understand exactly how she fits. But the good thing about her game is she can really play off ball well. I think that was the problem with the Marina rique minutes. I think those players are most successful when they both had the ball on their hand and were able to create. Lou is going to be moving around screens constantly setting herself up for open shots and definitely a much better passer than she gets credit for. I mean, she's going to love finding glue in the corner. So I'm with it. I think this is probably my favorite pickup dialysis. Yeah. No, I think look, and this is something I always say pretty much every year is like, oh, a lot of people like to say, oh, that's a stretch, right? Like that's a reach. Oh, you reach like that player would have been available later. It's like, I don't care about that. If the player, if you pick a player, that's a player you like as a player you think is going to be really good in your system. I don't care where you pick them. Hey, maybe there's an opportunity cost here, right? They did have to give up the opportunity of taking a Haley Jones, a grace burger. But they ended up getting the people I think they really liked. And maybe they saw, you know, they have more Intel than us. So they probably heard someone else's interested in Lou between 6 and 11. They had the 11th pick. And they said, hey, we have to grab her now. We don't care if it's reached. That's our girl. So I just think it's, it doesn't matter what picture she got selected. I think she's going to be helpful for them. Yeah. I'm just interested to see how quickly she develops and, you know, like you're saying, this roster is interesting. We are going to see, I mean, it's looking like, you know, you just look at it. Charlie Collier probably not going to be on this roster next year. That's the number one pick that they had before. You look at Jasmine Dickey as that player is going to stick around here now because they have three picks and they currently have 11 players on the roster one of them is a training camp contract and then so we have two players basically that have to get they're going to have to move in order to get all three of these draft picks in. So interesting state of the roster, I think they did get shooters though that play off the ball, which as you mentioned is huge for a weekend.

"I mean, you're getting a proven score. You're getting somewhat size, but Maddie seegers is 6 one. And a player who's had to do so much for the last four years. To finally be able to kind of be a role player on the squad potentially. And I probably hope dramatic figures. Oh, yeah. No, I think, you know, yeah, we've all said it, right? Like, what is Dallas's plan? Apparently they're playing in this draft was to get white shooters. Every single one of the graphics is white and every single one of them could shoot. Probably just a coincidence. But Dallas, they did lose Marina bay. And I guess you do need 6 shooters to try to replace her because you just kept stacking up these picks and Maddie being the first one and Maddie was the one that I thought really fit with what they're trying to do. I mean, you look at where this team is, they don't have a ton of shooting anywhere, really. I mean, just the hypothetical shot that we haven't really seen. Burton, her shot came around, but she's not necessarily a shooter at the point guard position. Tash Howard, can she three is not her game and then tiara McCall just doesn't step outside of the paint. So now you're looking at this team that doesn't have a ton of shooting, can use a bench or someone to handle the ball on the bench. And just like a secondary scoring option to attack from the other side of a rique, I think Maddie is going to give them that along with that shooting. So she can be on the floor a little bit more with the riquet and kind of help on the backup lineups and play with all of Dallas's town. I just think she's a really versatile fit for what they're trying to do. And they have enough defensive talent, I think, to kind of cover for her in a lot of ways. Yeah, it's valid. And I mean, I mean, it's weird seeing a team essentially get three straight bits because of a trade, which will be able to talk about that. But yeah, I mean, if you, if you think about kind of the ceiling of Maddie, I really can't put context to it. Could be amazing. Like, could be an absolutely amazing player if she develops a handle and in other ways to score because like we said with Ali Abbas and going up against much tougher competition, you're not going to be scoring a thousand points of season. But Maddie has tools and all different types of shot creation that a lot of players don't come into the league with. And I think, you know, the stuff she's had to go through a Villanova of holding that production load is going to be great for her. And you get to play alongside one of the best shot creators in the league right now. So it could be fun. I mean, I want to stay optimistic with Dallas. That's what I want to do. Oh, I'm optimistic. There's a pattern with their graphics. Yeah. It's shooting, shooting was the pattern shooters shooters. No, but for Matty, yeah, the ceiling point is interesting because do you see here as an all star? Do you see her as a role player? You know, to me, I think her game and don't get me wrong, folks. Listen to all of us. It has the stylings of an Elena delle donne. And that's someone that she said, like I watched a lot of her to pick up some of her moves, some of her fadeaways kind of has this stylings of that. So how do you deploy that in a package that's smaller than I land all done, right? Is that a type of player can become an all star? Because I think we didn't say this for the first two picks, but I think allele Boston, we think her ceiling is probably defensive player of the year, somebody can get into the MVP conversation with development, Diane Miller, I think she's can be an all star ceiling. I think she's a starter most likely. And then when Maddie, it's kind of like, you know, more all over the place. Yeah. Yeah. Definitely a probably a lower floor than the other two. But I really like that Bella dot com. Just in a smaller package and anytime someone says, you can't help but smile and think about one of the greatest players I've ever seen. I mean, the same thing versatile score, like incredible footwork, incredible touch. That's it. Yeah. Maddie's Maddie probably has the best touch of anyone that's like, it's such a weird concept. Of just evaluating someone's touch with the ball, but she catches everything and she makes ridiculous shots. So, yeah. I like it. I like it too. I think it really fits in with their surrounding talent, so I like that move for Dallas. Let's get into the other move that perhaps. With the fourth overall pick, the Washington mystics, who again got this pick from the Atlanta dream last year for trading down from the number one overall selection. Which that pick they got from the LA sparks, the year before, so they've kind of rolled this pick over for a few years and gotten some great talent and some great value out of it. And this one is just an amazing move. In my opinion, from Mike Tebow, he continues to do this. He can't keep getting away with it. I don't know, but Mike and Eric Tebow pull off. He can't keep up. That's how I'm fine with it because I live in D.C. so this is great stuff for me. But so they draft Stephanie Suarez from Iowa state, a center who has a really high ceiling, amazing stuff that you can do, but you can be heard all year. So the mystics take her and then immediately move her to Dallas for a future first round pick in 2025 from Atlanta that the wings picked up this off season and the Alicia gray trade. And a 2024 second round pick both those picks, I think, could be really good players considering how deep the 2024 draft is looking. And then if some of those players do not come out, they were thinking about in 2024, some people such as Caitlin Clark, page backers, Haley van lith, a bunch of great college players. If those play don't angel Reese, those players don't come out in 2024. Guess what? They come out in 2025 and 2025. I'm pretty sure those players do not have a code here. So that's Olivia miles, Sonia citron, easy fun. AZ fudd, those players are coming out in 2025. So that 2025 draft could be unbelievable in the 2022 or four draft can be deep enough that that second round pick that the mystics get from wings, it also super valuable for a player that I can almost guarantee you Washington did not want. Unbelievable stuff for my Tebow. Yeah, and I mean, I know you have some insight into the mystics for an office and you were texting some people last night. And I want to I had no insight into that, would that happen? Well, yeah, no one said to it happening, but to kind of, I mean, your immediate look at me when it was announced just was.

"It's really cool that destiny Henderson and aliyah Boston get to reunite after winning a title ago. That's the last time the plug together. So that's going to be a really fun reunion. And yeah, good for Indiana, Lin Dunn, getting it done. Linda getting it done. Miami hurricanes legend, by the way. Make sure it's make sure it's with that. Lin Dunn gets done something. There's something there. There's something there. Lynn, we'll call your people. But hey, we got 7 minutes into the podcast before I mentioned Miami. Yeah, yeah, yeah, big, big win for us. We're getting there, folks. But yeah, so I mean, you know, Boston, there's not that much more to be said because we know how good she is. We just want to see her in the WNBA at this point. And we get to see it. It was a wonderful moment for her and her family and just everyone there. I mean, it was just, again, the general vibes amazing all around. Yeah, she had so much just radiating happiness. All the players that maybe Haley Jones was kind of the same way, but like just Aaliyah was smiling the entire day. It was awesome. So so happy for her. It was on Good Morning America today. We didn't watch it. We got coffee. Yeah, let me take a coffee. Because we're pretty tired. But it's okay. Moving on, you want to get on to, we're just going to go through the first three picks because I think they're all important and interesting and I think they went the way that I expected. So I like to take a victory lap shouts to Gabe's mock draft for telling you how those first three picks would go. Diamond Miller to Minnesota. We'll get into kind of the meaty pick at three, but diamond, like I've been on team diamond for a while. I mean, I think she has about as much potential as anyone in this draft. So much versatility so much length scores at all three levels, not all three levels well yet, but I love her and the fit with this team. I don't know if she's going to crack the starting lineup. Maybe she plays. I mean, that's a weird funky lineup so they can do with diamond. Diamond Kayla, aerial powers. I mean, this team can run. Oh yeah. Links are gonna be fun. Oh yeah, and I mean, especially, you know, still retires, right? And now they put together maybe one of the best transition teams in the WNBA. Like you mentioned with diamond and Ariel and McBride and Tiffany Mitchell, who's going to be babbling for that three spot with diamond hypothetically and then the fusi Collier, forget about that. Really though. You do forget about the feast. Yeah. I mean, I think that might be one of the best small ball lineups in the league right now. I mean, like we're getting ahead of ourselves. We haven't seen diamonds in a minute. But if there was someone I was like, you know, putting a lot of my eggs into one basket would be her. Was there any inkling of anyone that you thought might go to for doings? No, no. Because honestly, you know what happened for us when we were standing there. It was like diamond's family was behind this. So you're only allowed to have three people at the table with you. So it was diamond and her parents and I'm one of her brothers and she had two other brothers and one brother and two sisters who are right behind us. And they started getting all excited and picked two games. So I was like, oh, okay, so we kind of ushered them to the front so they could take pictures of diamond as she got picked. And you know, you could see the cameras on her. And it just. So I knew what then, but then it was also like, I kind of felt like there was no, there was no way you can not take a player who has so much athleticism. So many gifts with the ball in her hands on the perimeter. Yeah, her shooting. It's not there. Maybe it never gets there from three. But she can do so much else with the ball and so much on the defensive end that she's going to fit in with Cheryl reef system. And man, I just thought about that small ball line that was fun. McBride powers Mitchell Collier as a 5 Miller as a four or however you want to put those guys. That's really tough lineup to stop. Yeah. I mean, you give up a lot. Rebounding, but if you can't stop them from scoring what are you going to do? And diamonds are really good rebounder and the fees was a great rebounder and you could get away with that type of glue. Yeah. As Magic Johnson says, you have to score more points than the other team to win a game. Yes, the game is and always is. It always was about buckets. Magic magic had a tweet storm, I believe. Remember, he did congratulate reveal. I'm not sure you congratulated him at other sports pits, but magic, thanks for hanging out. Yeah. Thanks for coming, Patrick. So that in diamond is going to be an interesting fit there. Why is my Twitter in Japanese all of a sudden? Shots to Elon, man. That's on you, I guess, but I will say seeing seeing the fist pump from gay brain, I don't know if we caught it on TV, but when Maddie seekers got big third. I called it. I was a little surprised. Then again, I don't really know how to kind of evaluate what Dallas is doing. And I don't really know what their plans are long term outside of building around a rique. But I mean, you're getting a proven score. You're getting somewhat size, but Maddie seegers is 6 one.

"In that regard. All that being said, ping Frank, whatever it is you have to pay him for ten games. I got doesn't make an awful lot of sense in a season that I, as much as there may be hope and there may be some precedent around bringing an interim manager and Chelsea in the Champions League. I just don't see happening. Frank, you've obviously spoken a lot about this season just being over. You just need this campaign to end from Chelsea's perspective. Say they get out. They get knocked out by Real Madrid. You've still got remaining games to play. You've still got a motivate then a locker room who knows you're not going to be there. Next season, Frank Lampard and one way could be on a hiding to nothing here, couldn't he? Yeah, it could happen that way. And hopefully not for Chelsea. And for Franklin Paul, but that might be the scenario that we're going to see very soon if they kicked out of the championship by Real Madrid, which is normally what's going to happen. But it would have been the same with the coach has been appointed after Porter was sacked. So I don't see what's going to be how it's going to be different if they are kicked out of the champion league. That's going to be with every coach even if it's the coach for like ten days and ten games and they're not the culture we are expecting. It's going to be exactly the same for him that is going to be for Frank Lampard. The player is going to be out of order as soon as the champion is over because they're not fighting for the irrigation. They're not fighting for anything in Europe. So he's going to be a nightmare. But I already say that. I already said that the season was over. Now somebody at the board, I don't know who decided that maybe just he has a chance to win the Champions League. So as long as they are in the champion, see, we're not going to comment on what's going to happen after that if the kick start. We'll have the time at the time when it's going to happen to see how it works. And I think it's going to be very interesting to see some players reactions and way of playing to see if they are still some pride in their heart. Jules, who's going to be the new manager Jules. So good question. I mean, I think they're going through the interviews. I mean, right now we know that recent rique was in London. We see the last couple of days with these agents. We know that contact was made with Niagara's man as well, and we also know that top Brady is very close to migrants agent, and now he has worked himself. With two of the sporting directors who have come in at Chelsea at the start of the season, so I think they have a head start over maybe a pochettino. We've talked many times. He doesn't really want to come to England. He doesn't speak English. It's a big problem for him not to speed the language of the country where he would work because he's a lot about my management, so I think we can rule out

"In another way, you'd be doing it your own way. If the roles are reversed. So. Exactly. Yeah, I mean, in terms of the smack talk stuff, I mean, I haven't really, I mean, it's clearly I see the talk about it, but I haven't really like, I think it's just silly to be honest. It's just ridiculous. Like, here's the thing. We want more fans. And you know what? And this is what I'll say, right? A lot of people heck people on the insider staff disagree with me on this. And that's fine. The whole point of, in my perspective, at least, is in women's basketball, often we have a lot of copycat in the sense of like one person puts out an opinion that a mock draft to take whatever. And a lot of people, either you just get roasted or it's, you know, the herds align behind you and everyone lines up behind you. And to me, part of one sider is also just to grow conversation, have debates, have arguments because we need different perspectives, we need different voices. I think it just helps grow the game. For me, like, what? No, no, go ahead, sorry. Oh, no, I'm just gonna say like a lot of people are frustrated with these idiots who have never watched women's basketball before. They see Caitlyn Clark, you know, dropping a 40 stack back to back games of 40 triple double, cool. And now they're like, she's the greatest player of all time. Do I think you're an idiot for saying that? After she's playing against college competition, yes, but you know what? You know, and that's welcome them to this community and welcome them to this game. And you know what? Shame on you if you don't. Exactly, we want more fans. We shouldn't be gatekeeping and furthermore, that's how fandom starts. So like that's how you got sucked in, Simon Augustus. Exactly, that's how I got sucked in and now we have a freaking website and a podcast and we're doing stuff that no one's ever done before. Like, to me, it's just like, I don't judge you on what got you in the door. I judge you how you behave after you're in the door. And right now, all those people, I view them as like they just walked in the bar and they're looking around. Totally. Totally. And I can not tell you the amount of I was sitting there watching the final four games, and I'm getting all these text messages, and it just made me laugh. I actually tweeted something like to edit everyone texting me. Yes, I'm watching. I'm here. But it was funny because I'm talking about like my sister, my fiance, my distant cousin, my friend, who lives across the country in South Carolina, you know, someone's mom from high school hit me up. Oh my gosh, Rachel, do you see this? Do you see this player? What's going on? This is so cool. They have no idea. What's going on? But they're so excited. I have never. I've not poured my heart and soul into this game since the moment I had a chance to. On one way, shape or form, I've never had that much. That many people come to me personally and just, hey, this is so exciting. What can you tell me about this? Are you there? And that was that was the part that made me emotional even was because, you know, I had someone reach out a guy friend of mine who lives out east. He was like, you know, you're the reason I got into women's basketball. And now I'm a basketball junkie and he's like talking to me about the game and his opinion and he was upset about certain things, but excited about other things. I'm like, that's what it's about, you know? That's what it's about. I think we have to keep a big, big picture perspective on it. I think there were a lot of growth, a lot of the women's NCAA tournament has been on a rise every year. I mean, we could look back at Morgan Williams shot that beat Yukon. We could look at a rique shots. I mean, the last few years, you can go down the stretch. I mean, the dominance of South Carolina, the parity, the changes that we've seen and this just took it to a whole new level. And a lot of that is angel Rees. A lot of that is katelyn Clark. You know, a lot of it is a lot of these teams were not necessarily expected to be in this moment. And that's awesome. I would prefer to talk about the refereeing. Because I think to me, that was the part where I left that arena that day to go catch my flight and I was sick to my stomach, not because I feel like the refereeing altered the outcome of the game. LSU was phenomenal. They were brilliant. They shot 19% from the three point line and the NCAA tournament up until that point. They were shooting 75% at halftime. You know, they're banking in threes at the buzz. I mean, the energy from their bench. I mean, primed and prepped and ready for that moment, they were phenomenal. And at the moment, you know, Clark and sonata picked up 4000. I was like, it's over. It's absolutely over, but I will say I was sitting there before the game, and I looked down, I go, I don't recognize a lot of these refs. We were always sitting with a bunch of coaches.

"The small club. Sorry, so called small club license. He doesn't do well with Bayern Munich. Maybe did well in champagne, but not in the buddhas trigger. So you have to check that out. You have to make sure that you have people available in a good standard. And the other thing is you need somebody to make sure that you can hold the dressing on properly because of his image because of his past maybe as a football player. Because when he comes into the dressing room, they're going to listen to him. And they're not going to do what they want on the field. It's what we have at the Paris Saint-Germain. I really hope Chelsea is not going to become a second Paris Saint-Germain, where players do whatever they want. And we keep on coaches. Who Don? Our God for the Germany, to be honest. I've seen frightened. I've seen a lot of it so swallow side. I've seen a lot of shakhtar side. I've obviously seen a lot of Brighton. I spoke to John Franco Zola about him a couple of months ago. He's convinced he's going to go right to the very top. I think the tricky thing for bright effort Chelsea fans to maybe get on board if they did go for deserve is taking two managers away from bright and thinking, well, the first ones fail. So the second one is going to fail. But I'm convinced he will be a top manager. I think the way he's got bright and playing. I think that's what Chelsea need to be doing is Frank said. I can't see the big boys going to Chelsea. Maybe for a payday. Gun back to the point of the players being a little bit gutted. Me and Shaka and Frank know what players are like. We look after look after ourselves. If a manager changes when you're there, it's sad, of course it is, but you bounce back within a day because you've got personal pride and they will move on to the next best friend, which is a new manager. So in short, I think deserve you would be a great fit. I think if again, I'm going to do as James Zoe did hear me out here. If Todd bully is determined to build a long-term legacy under one manager, I think if you're doing that, the first thing you have to get is that manager. Right. Right, okay. You've already made my next question is going to be you've already said yeah, you've already signed players as James reported in all of the 70 year contracts. I think it's between pochettino analysis. Right. If I'm thinking long term, somebody who I know is going to stay there, it's going to endure some of the high and low times in building that club and in building the foundations for that long-term legacy. Those are the two easiest to mind. Why did you pull a face? Because I had the conversation with the German journalist last week talking about nagin for Tottenham. And he thinks he's a very stubborn manager, a very young manager who's got a lot to learn. And he likes to micromanage players. He likes to literally put them in certain positions and doesn't allow players to play with a lot of freedom. Frank's right. He managed hoffenheim and Leipzig when his work and was smaller players and he gets, I think, more of a tune out a younger players, but working with egos and big name players. I don't think helped him. It so it's an easy, it's an easy fit in terms of just being stuck from buying must be a good manager. We'll take him. I would see a long-term future in the Jersey more than more than nagelsmann. James? Yeah, I think there's a point to just make here about one of the reasons why that the Thomas Tuchel appointment didn't all of Thomas Tuchel was sacked essentially. There was an argument in pre season that top only wanted to sign Christiana Ronaldo from Manchester United. And he was offered the tuca was offered the chance repeatedly. He said, look, it's Cristiano Ronaldo. Why don't we sign him and tuca was absolutely adamant about this is a disaster. I understand why you were thinking about it. He's been a great player, but he is no longer the player that you think he might be. He is occupying his position or reputation alone. And I think that's quite symptomatic of where maybe might be thinking now because growing Potter was a progressive appointment. You know, I think everybody in England thought, look, he's done very well at Brighton. It's nice to see an English manager get a chance at a top club in the Premier League, but there was no guarantee that he could succeed. He's not managed at that level. He's never managed in the Champions League. I remember a few people wincing in the press conferences when he was sort of saying, oh, I've never even been to a Champions League game. Oh, this is nice. I thought I've never been to the San Siro before you thinking, God, this is a Chelsea manager. You know, think of the people who have occupied that seat before real kind of proper authoritarian managers really carry a gravitas. When you think now that Zinedine Zidane, Louis and rique, these sort of sexy names is attractive names are on the market. He's Todd bowly going to stick to that vision. I know he's obviously abandoned it. We're in terms of the identity of the manager.

"I mean, alongside in a Visa call, you're okay, that's great. But again, I'm not seeing, I'm not seeing this team make the moves that they need to make in order to be competitive. The only thing I can think of. And again, I'm going to say it like, are they tanking for the lottery? Yeah. No one's ever going to say that, but you know, it's kind of like maybe this maybe it does end up working long term in the favor because then you end up getting in the lottery again and you get one of those coveted couple picks in the 2024 draft, which to be determined who's actually in that draft, but I know the big narrative is that's a huge great class, and that's amazing. So it could end up working really, really well for the franchise. But again, they were unable to make the moves they needed to make or compete in for agency the way they needed to because their handcuff and shackled because of their other contracts and in decisions they've made in years past. That's what I see. Yeah. And I don't know if we've talked about it on the pod or not, but the sandwich of power, right? When Cheryl reeve was removed, stepped down, whatever the narrative is from being the GM, and they put Claire in that spot excited for someone who's been around for a while to get that opportunity. But there's serious serious concerns about Reeves now the boss of the GM, the GM is supposed to have the autonomy over the coach. At least in my perspective, they need to be able to work together and be on an equal playing field, but understanding that in different realms, the other one has more power and putting above her in the power structure doesn't make sense to me. And to be blunt, like it looks like it's just been a slow decline since 2018 when Reeves took over that role of GM. And I haven't seen anything to think otherwise. There's a real lack of criticism, right? I mean, I haven't seen anybody talk about the fact that here's my thing. I completely understand. That you lose Maya. Simone's on the way down, right? Brunson's lost, waylon's lost. Still stuck around for a little bit longer and now she's gone. I completely understand. There's going to be vacuums, right? And when you have that amount of talent, you're not going to be on the top end of the draft. But if you actually have established yourself, like for so long, Minnesota has been claiming, we are the standard, right? People need to do it like us. People want to come play for us. Blah, blah, blah. No, they don't. Like just to be blunt like based on who you signed over the past few years, no, they don't. You haven't signed a top free agent, and I don't know how many years, and to be blunt. You keep doing the same thing over and over expecting different results. Do the math. Yeah. Okay. All right, next team. Phoenix mercury. Last team, the last time I said not present, now they have re signed anti atrocity. They have free signed Brittany grinder, shape petty. They sign Mariah Jefferson, which is a move I really like. Destiny slocum suge Sutton city we, Jenny Sims. Sophie Cunningham. Sophie Cunningham. Michaela. Oh, yeah, sorry. I misheard you. I thought you said a rique, and I was like, wait, what? You got to give a little flair when you say her last. No, I just assumed that you said Rican. I missed some breaking news. But they did lose diamond to shields. Who is the player who did a lot of stuff for them over the past year? Here's my thing. The big, the big question mark, the big elephant in the room is Skylar digging Smith. Is she playing? Would she want to play? We all saw the drama unfold on live national television last year. We saw her screaming at her coach to take her out of the game. We saw her and terrace get into a little spout, that's not the word, about on the sidelines and having some players deescalate the situation. To me, it's as simple as this. If you have scholar digging Smith, Sophie Cunningham, Brittany griner, I'll include Diana Ross 'cause it's gonna be pissed if I don't. Sydney weaves. And Brianna Turner. You're talking about a team that can, I don't shout out to the Indiana fever when they beat the links in the finals, like you're talking about a super team killer right there. But if you replace Skyler with Mariah Jefferson as your starter. Now I'm high on Mojave, but she needs to stay healthy. And she doesn't have that durability that Skyler has. And so to me, that knocks them down a peg or two. Now, realistically, if Skyler so like, I can't grade them because so much of it comes down to the situation of Skylar, which would impact the grade. I guess I'll give them a pass. They're a pass fail team in my mind and they pass. Let me play

"Time, 7 O four, Mike the dino on the later 5th Aaron Rodgers. All right bob it appears that Aaron Rodgers is heading to New York. Well, that's what NFL insider Trey wingo is saying who made the announcement on his Twitter earlier today. Now, here's where it gets interesting. Other prominent designers such as Ian rapport, Adam Schefter, they're saying no deal right now Here's Adam Schefter and NFL live earlier today. The jets are cautiously optimistic. I think that's the best way that we could say it right now because as of about an hour ago, the jets hadn't gotten official work, at least so they said. So to be clear, no deal right now, but that could change any second. Now it's also important to note that the jets players are tweeting as if the deal is done. Cornerback sauce gardener, wide receiver Garrett Wilson, Elijah Moore, running back free soul. They've all been active on Twitter today as if the deal is done. So maybe they know something we don't. Another NFL free agency news former jets quarterback Sam darnold, he signed with the forty-niners, and then this move just going down moments ago, the Giants, they have made their first move in free agency. They are signing former colts linebacker Bobby O kure rique. That's a four year deal worth $40 million. He finished last season with 99 tackles. For 77 WABC sports, some liked it. Thanks, Mike. "To me, it just doesn't, it doesn't make as much as that. I think to flip it back to Dallas. What they're doing is they've created a team that they really like, I think. They brought in Natasha Howard this year, resigns here, Macau and, you know, they have Veronica Burton who had a nice rookie season and is going to be even better. And then they have satsu sabi and dime the shields. The dynamic between Enrique and diamond is going to be a little weird. I think diamond will shoot better from three, but that's not the fit, but it's not going to be how mabry and rique were. It's going to have to be a little different. Right. So that's going to take some time like you said at the beginning of talking all this. That's going to take a lot of adjustment. But then they have another three first round picks. This season, they have the picks coming up in the future. This franchise is set up to continue growing. And I always see people asking, what's the plan in Dallas? I think it's a fair question. And I wrote in my newsletter ball and ordered that subsector account. I wrote about I wrote about how it's kind of like, you know, I don't know, I don't know if you ever play two K but in two K, you know, when I get a new franchise, when I get a new franchise, I like immediately trade everyone. You know, I trade all my trade all the players for draft picks. I kept bringing guys that I want. I change up everything. And I want to have to do something in the video game. So I want to do another. Yeah, we learned deal. I think Greg bibb has kind of like had that mentality. It's like, hey, this move is good. I'm going to do it. And that's great for roster building. But at some point, they need to turn the corner into team building. And I think this has to be the year for them with you should travel as the head coach has to be the year for them with a recast or leader, it has to be the year that they start going from this, hey, they have a lot of talent to, okay, this team is ready to compete and win. I think this year they have enough talent to do so. So I like what Dallas is building personally. No, I like it. Again, you know, just to have the pieces to be able to build to continually build and add to, you know, who's around Enrique goomba Walla. I mean, it's her squad right now. And no shade to anybody else. But we all clutch performer on that team. And she wants those moments. So I love that for her too. To be able to own that role and to have that trust from Greg bibb and the coaching staff as well. Just to know that we're working to get pieces around you. I mean, if I'm a rique, I'm like, let's go, you know? Let's bring them because you know how she's built, right? She wants to win. So just to have that trust from everyone in the organization, I think, is a plus for her too. It's her team. That's her team. And they did lose Alicia gray. And to a certain extent, that wasn't their choice. I think Alicia, honestly, I don't know if her problem was with the franchise or the role. I think almost what the role because she's saying, I'm a better player than the touches you're giving me. Right. I don't disagree with her. So, and so losing Alicia is a big deal and I'm not trying to. Downplay that at all. She's a big deal. Losing Marina is a huge deal. Yeah. But I just think they're kind of built, they're built well now, and they have playoff experience. They have players that they can rely on, and they have a good base for playing good defense. And that's been a problem in Dallas, you know, they got their stuff together at the end of the last year, but they're going to have to really lock in on that end of the court this year. And I think they can. So shouts Dallas, I think it's a good move. There's a New York and Phoenix element to this. I don't feel like getting into the minutiae of it. There's a lot of stuff going on. It's more minor moves, more minor moves. I do want to talk about one more major move, even though we're going along. Yeah. Tiffany Hayes. To Connecticut. For the number 6 pick from Atlanta. I love that. I love that. I love that move. Yeah. I love that. I mean, Tiffany Hayes, I mean, you know, she had some injury issues. But I mean, her presence, we were talking about leadership too. Her presence as a leader is, I mean, that's what Connecticut needs right now, right? They've lost some pieces. Obviously, John called Jones and others, but I just think that that's a perfect fit for her. And Connecticut with Stephanie white being the head coach there in her first year with the sun. I just think that's going to be a great combo with having her there. And Brie Jones resigns. Actually for a little bit less than the max, which is interesting. But you look at this team. We're talking about we're talking about Chicago. This team is full of dogs. Thai Harris tip Hayes, the wanna bonner, Alyssa Thomas, Brianna Jones, that's what you're starting 5, you gotta teach a heideman come off the bench in the cloud and our girl coming off the bench. I think they're a little thin, but I'm looking at it and I wanted to do power rank is on this episode. We're not gonna have we're not gonna have a chance to do it. But I'm like, they're right in there. You know, I'd say that with them and them in Washington are really close to each other in terms of competing with those top two teams in New York and Las Vegas. Yeah, I think tip, I mean, it's really hard to lose someone like John Cole Jones and still stay good. Yeah. You know, you look at teams that lose superstars. They don't tend to stay in contention. Right. This team did that with this move. And I think they should be really, really excited for what tip brings to kinetic and she's honestly something they need. That outside in sort of player who can spot up a little bit, that's exactly what they need. I think it's going to be really good for them. Obviously they take a step back though. I'm not trying to say they tip haze and John Paul Jones the same thing. They stay pretty close to where they were. Absolutely. And they get, you know, Atlanta gets a number 6 pick out of that. And I think that's good for Atlanta. I'm super young team that's continuing to grow and get better. I thought they had a phenomenal season last year for the youth that they had on the floor most of the time. So I think at number 6 pick in exchange for Hayes is a good move for them on the other side too. Oh yeah. Oh yeah, for sure. I like it. I like that move actually. So that's a win win. That's a win win. We'll say it. It's a win win. And it's great for Tiffany Hayes. She had when she was 12 years at 2018. 2018, they make the semifinals. Yeah. She was incredible.

"It's in the margins. My first thought went to defense on the perimeter. When you've got Sabrina and Courtney van der sloot, they're not going to a lot of opponents are not going to look at that and be scared on that end of the court, right? And you've got behind them, though, you've got Briana Stewart, you've got JJ, so your next thought is, okay, if they get beat on the perimeter, I have two all W defenders that are capable of stepping up. But you can have some imbalance there if you're constantly pulling one or both of them away from the rim to help. If you're putting them at the switching actions, that's where I think, though, the addition of halo Thornton comes in where. But angelini, because B has been forgotten by so many people in this off season. And I think it's recency bias as some of it, right? Because she was injured for a lot of last year. And I don't think people always kind of watch her defensive game as much as they watch her offensive. And but her strength and her switchability, having her and Kayla as these wing defenders because they did lose Beck Allen in all of these moves this off season. It allows you to put them on to whomever you need to on a given. On a given night, if a rique is cooking, switch B over there, you can hide Sabrina. You can hide slew a little bit. Kelsey Mitchell's generating a lot of fevers offense, then you bring Kayla Thornton into the game. And I think that those options says something that sandy brondello showed that she was very willing to do last year was to kind of make some of those adjustments on the fly to she didn't do those like hockey substitutions where there was 5 in 5 out. So if you've got one of JJ or stewie, always at your back line and then you can mix and match a little bit based on what's happening in that game. They've got depth to do that and that depth is sometimes players that don't need the ball in their hands quite so much. Han was very efficient last year. KT is a very efficient player. Didi is going to be coming off of the bench and hopefully we're finally getting a healthy season out of her. But she's someone else who doesn't need the ball in her hands to make a difference. She's a very, very strong cutter. She makes a lot of smart decisions. And she's not, she's putting most of her energy onto the defensive end. So they've got some players and then we could talk about if marine Johannes gets here and then what that brings because then it's this beautiful free flowing offense. I think a lot of their weaknesses can be covered up because they've got this talent that can score with anybody. But I think that for me and I know there's going to be a little bit of bias here. That's kind of where that separation comes in for me because yes, the aces have made some moves, but the liberty and we don't know their final roster construction yet. There's still probably another move to be made. But right now, we're looking at the starting 5 with 5 all stars, and then behind them, you've got potentially honshu at the 5, Steph Olsen at the fore, Kayla Thornton at the three DD at the two epiphany prints at the one until marine comes over, and then you've got another roster spot where it's Jocelyn Willoughby. And seek a kone all coming into camp to maybe fight for one more spot. That's a roster that's 11 deep. And that's a roster that can that second team can hang with almost every team in this league. So it's not just a top heavy roster. That's scary. I mean, you kind of just hit on it already, but when Daniel brought up the aces bench last year, that's something I always think about is like everyone talks about like have we seen super teams they're not like we have seen super teams before. The aces were a super team, but the ace is starting lineup wasn't super teeth. Their bench was not at all. And I guess I'm interested in your thoughts, how much because we look at the aces last year, like all the starters, you know, when they were healthy, we're playing 30 three minutes a game or whatever it was, which they should have been because that's how they had to win games, but how much do you see sandy using the bench this year compared to maybe what the aces did last year or just any other team really? Any other super team that we've seen? I think if they hit the season with healthy bodies, which last year the liberty and a lot of teams, really. But the liberty, especially that first month of the season looking back, there was a point where they had to cancel a preseason game because they only had 5 players. It took them a while to gel and with a new coaching staff that made it kind of hard to find those rotations to work people in people coming over late and all of that this year, even if you have marine come over late, she's been there already, right? Even if you have a player that's in or out of the lineup, likely they've been there already, even the players that are coming into the system now have played with other people. And I think that's part of bringing in people that are all stars is that they've been on these Olympic teams together or playing overseas with one another. I don't know how deep you can go with this rotation because you can go ten deep. You really can. I just don't know if it's super smart. But if you want this lineup to be, if you want this lineup, this first 5 to be ready to go at playoff time. Any given night, this team will be favored, right? Outside of those four games against the aces. So a deeper rotation makes sense, especially we're seeing a 40 game season this year. So it's still compressed, but they're going to need to make sure that everybody is healthy, come fall when they really need everyone. Scary. I mean, I know Calvin and I know all about speak of cone. We've done a lot of money. Oh yeah. Molly for the win. She's fantastic. And she's also playing really well right now overseas. So I think she's averaging something like 17 and 14. It's something silly. I mean, I can't wait. I mean, I feel like you were probably at practice a lot. I feel like practice is going to be kind of must see here in New York. Before we jump into the super team across the country, I want to ask Calvin because I mean, I've been thinking about pulling the trigger here and there on some futures in the WNBA. I mean, from what you've seen, Cal where do you think there's value in who is being underlooked? As far as contenders go in the league, I mean, I know everyone's being underlooked, but who do you think we should be giving some glances at? You mean outside of the aces and liberty? Yeah. And if it's nobody then, all right, I'll save some money. Well, like the correct answer is nobody, but that's boring. So I'll give you an answer just for our listeners. I think the mystics, if you had to choose someone, the mystics are probably the only team that I could see hanging with the liberty in the aces for anything more than a random hot shooting night, you know, a three game series or 5 game series. They're not going to win one, but I could see the mystics picking up a game against either of those teams in a 5 game series. And the thing about the mystics is they're going to be so good. They might be better defensively than either of those two teams with at least with their best defensive unit on the court. I don't know if there'll be as deep defensively, but what they've added like they brought in Brittany Sykes. They already had the best defense in the league last year. If you catch a team on a cold shooting night and you're locking them down with Shakira Austin on the back line, anytime you do get beat off the dribble, which is never going to happen

Kayla Thornton Courtney van der sloot Briana Stewart halo Thornton angelini Sabrina Beck Allen Kelsey Mitchell sandy brondello Steph Olsen Jocelyn Willoughby stewie Kayla Didi rim JJ Johannes Han hockey mystics
