"Baby Power. No states anymore. Melissa Rios deejay. Correct. I feel like this show is very therapeutic. Because way like to share our feelings. And you all have parents and parents. They love to do embarrassing things. They love to embarrass us. I feel like they take pride in that. So the one thing that my mom did to embarrass me, Wass. I was in high school and I had bought up the throne bottle for our senior graduation party. Okay, I hit it. And when I got to the party, we all decided to take shots. Well, it went down like water. It was so smooth, like Let's take another shop. We took another shot, only to realize that there was water in the patrol bottle. My mom found the bottle before and feed it out and put water in there. I was so embarrassed in front of all of my friends and I were ready to get lit. And I got home issues just like it was so embarrassing the most embarrassing thing my parents ever did to me. Wass, I guess. One time when I was younger, I I saw music video and I wanted to sag my pants. Now that was the cool thing to do. I don't want to wear my pants so high, but that saw that anyone teach me a lesson. So for about two years straight anytime we were at a family party, you maybe tuck in my shirt and he put my hand my pants above my belly point. Oh, male camel toe. Every Saturday. It was embarrassing, my cousin. Do not let me live it down to this day. My parents are cool as hell. Shut out to my mom and dad. I'm dead as my parents never embarrass me. I love them. Mom and Dad. Probably. I don't know, though. I think I'm cool. I think I'm the coolest mom on Earth was easy. Would probably we gotta bring her in here and get her opinion. A 185201059 the most embarrassing thing. Your parents have ever done to you. Be honest. Let it get it off. Your chest is therapeutic. Trust me, helps.

They gathered together in mid March to worship All the hugging and the singing touched off one of the first Corona virus outbreaks in West Virginia. One of our members got sick. We were instructed that everyone who was around her To be tested and several were positive with the virus tested negative, but my daughter was diagnosed with the virus. Then you know really hit you. This is not a play thing. This thing is for Rios. So The first lady and marry in county to pass away was a member of our church. In fact, I sang next tour on that Sunday and she was 88 years old. There were maybe 11 12 people that had the virus. Three or four of them were hospitalized for maybe two weeks, three weeks..

"April Fourth Nineteen Ninety seven Las Vegas. Ginger Rios disappeared after going into a little shop in a strip mall in Las Vegas. Her husband was sitting in the car, waiting for her, but she never returned. After waiting quite a while, he went into the store that he had seen her go into and asked if she was still there. The owner of the store told him that she had bought a couple of books and left. Her husband knew that she had gone into the little store called spycraft to buy a book on how to clean up her credit. She, left her purse in the car and had just taken her wallet whether he was bewildered as to where she had gone.

"From is reflected in this music because it really does sound like this is place here and even the layers that you have 'cause you know you start off we hear your voice here the locally and then we hear you backed up by other voices and then we get to that moment where you hear that chant that may be people might You know relate with Wendy. He see Hula in the here. You know that chant coming and very traditional sounding. I'm talk to me about those different parts for me. Whenever I write a song I always think about you know like how you said. The different layers the different realms and as a dancer. I grew up chanting. That was like my first connection to boy chanting and chanting is ancient and industrial and it comes from You know we say the L. The guts and so what I like to do is bring those migrations together. The singing you know the head voice that you know has more of A. I always say like a kind of Lemme vibration which is described libration and attempting has a circulation and so bringing those two Together with always important to me in creating music about particular part in that chat talks about our movements. Ramona can cool key. Ramona means to stand strong Leka Mountain. And that's really the words that we chat on the front lines and cruel. Kit immonen embody also embody the protection of the noten. And the only way that I know how to convey that is do a face of strength in my own self and not come from chanting and then singing into into it as well to create a space of of Hartford peace you know so that both frequencies can work together and and that's how created that song. Well it is full of a lot of beauty and have any of these. Compositions came when you were literally sitting on the front lines in protecting Monica as well as stepping on sacred grounds of other indigenous nations. In Talk to me a little bit about that of these words are a reflection of those moments and of course folks anytime you want to talk to Havana. Just call in one. Eight hundred nine nine six two eight. Four eight is the number and her new album. We are sharing with you today. All you gotTa do is dial in. Share some thoughts. Ask Some questions and we have ten to give away. "It's Kinda bad for the Jews here in the United States. Many episodes odes of antisemitism every week we email updates for this sort of thing the most interesting one this week A woman in the Hudson River valley was charged with throwing a piece of pork at a synagogue. She's been charged with hate crime for throwing pork chops at a synagogue in Columbia County. What do we make of this? Can you say this. This is a heartache. But I was pretty impressed with her for her action. She could've gone with the very cheap kind of you know two dollar a pound pork. She went with a pork pork. Chop that is both expensive and in my mind a semi respectful thing. If you're going to go hate crime can I just read this to you. Rios on January nine in between the hours of five twenty three PM. Three Twenty eight am through a package of pork chops. A non kosher food onto the front steps of the congregation Andrzej MFA causing pork fluids to spilled onto its steps according to criminal complaint. That is just like so gory. Gross and like Kerry ask. I mean it's really fluids was the name of my high school band the back in the morning to photograph it. It's just really weirdly specific. My first thought when I read this was well. Well if it's a reformed temple they'll take the pork chops inside and cook them and have have a Nice Kesha. So last week was like reform movement kindness week take this is sponsored by the clan and honestly no judgment here. It's food and if you eat as many many the people as most American Jews do add more power to them than you take it inside you fry it up and you have a nice pork cutlet but it does seem that the show that she threw the pork chops at was a conservative synagogue. And this is what's really diabolical about it right because the conservative synagogue. Most of your members in fact do eat pork but they pretend not to eat pork and the rabbi pretends not to eat pork and the synagogue doesn't allow to be cooked on its premises. So what she's doing. She's throwing them this tasty cut of meat that they they all really would like to enjoy at their own homes that day after God. But she's throwing it at the synagogue on the slam of American Judaism. I mean she went like right into the hypocritical. Soul of American Judy. She's a one woman theological seminary. Oh Oh my it just feels like a waste of perfectly good pork.

"And he's cluny and and you can learn something from the people are not necessarily only promoting whatever it is talks about experts and sometimes he'll bring people like Doctor Eric Topol on and you're like okay okay I can weave this into my to my knowledge base on healthcare so that's kind of different perspective but a little bit on entertainment side that the healthcare policy network is there's health. No it's just the healthcare policy podcasts just one guy he interviews people. I think that his topics are really good and I always get really great insight from them and they feel like he talks about things that even though it's called policy he brings in a a much bigger picture like health care and climate change that is that particular episode was like no one's talking about that how thank you for bringing that connection of how the climate crisis actually affects healthcare and vice versa the ladies over at the Cajun the Kaiser Health News. They're mostly women. They never say that. They're like a female or woman. The you know sponsored or hosted podcasts cast but like almost all of their guests are women and they talk about really. I like the conversations that they have. It's really topical. Na stay up to date with. It's like okay what what's going on in the news and any sort of policy changes that are happening. They talk about them in depth. That's lake reporters from politico and from different you know. Oh healthcare organizations are media outlets that they just like. Hey here's here's the news the story of the weaker whatever that you should read. I feel like I get a lot out out of that haven't been reading a lot of physical books but I do a lot of audiobooks and to be honest. Meditation Meditation has been something that like I know that's not. Where do I go to get my information but it's like. Where do I go to actually calmed down and just down in disconnect yeah and just find a minute piece? They've definitely like an an avid participant of the ten percent happier APP as something that I try to spend some time of just like okay. Let me just clear my mind for a minute because as you know there's a lot going on all the time and it's just like okay. How can I be my best self and sometimes that means you no not focusing on everything that's outside of you but like okay. How am I showing up in. How can I clear my mind so that I can say what needs needs to be said or do what needs to be done or be. Who already to be etc.. I think you to brilliant job showing up executing and just kind of I think he let the torture phenomenal job carrying it forward and I know I am personally personally in eternally grateful for you starting this and I know you grabbing by the hand and told me to come along and anyone who's listening to us knows that I had a lot of life going up in so not only. Are you just an amazing professional. I am just so glad to have a friend and I think hearing the story beginning to end. I have heard so many parts and pieces of it over the years. It really just brings a smile to my face face about how all of your puzzle pieces have come together for the small part of the puzzle you own both in your life and professional career to just kind of shed some light on the day in and day out of everything that goes on including meeting to disconnect whether it's walking. Juno I with it follows through on instagram or these other places but thank you and I think a lot of our listeners thank you because there's been a lot of brilliant feedback about the brand and none of which is possible without you none of great thanks so if People WanNa see pictures of you or your dog Juno that I just mentioned or follow you or find out more about what's going on the podcast. What's the best ways to connect with while I'm mostly on twitter these days if kind of backed off them facebook and instagram although I still have the presence there but I would say twitter would be the best place I meant ask Joy Rios and I'm on Lincoln undermining Joy Rios and also the podcast cast which of course if you're listening to this hit like a girl pod and then more so I've been really thrilled about the connecting people on Lincoln so we started a a listener and guest group where both the guests of the podcast and the listeners of the podcast can connect work with each other inspired by each other mentor each other support each other in whatever way that you can imagine so. I'm excited to see how those grow and I would love to see more people there if somebody thinks that they wanna be on the podcast or they know of someone great so if they're a woman in healthcare health. It were there just a champion of women health. It were yet to find her first male guest that what's the best way for them to connect well if they go to our website there if you scroll to the bottom there's a way that you can sign up to be a guest in that will take you to basically a google form that has your contact information information and a little bit of questionnaires around who you are and then from there once you submit it it gives us a Little Ping and we will have our coordinator reach out. It's a good fit. Thank you for educating the rest of our listenership about you a little bit more. I guess.
