Addressing Energy Poverty in Australia
"This is a riley brook riley rents an apartment in a renovated subdivided townhouse in sydney. They live in an on section at the back of a townhouse. The added on section is quite flimsy. Not i not particularly insulated and there isn't ceiling roof ceiling but it's not sealed between the brick wall of the original structure and the added section. So if i go with stand between my bedroom and the little storage area. I can actually see to the outside. The light comes in through the crack between wool air and that make matters worse the door between my bedroom and that little storage room bathroom added section doesn't have a door handle and therefore caught close and there's a gap of say two or three centimeters underneath that door so no matter what i try and do to warm up my bedroom the call just comes riding straight through that wide or gap for fair. I really struggled to cape cape the warmth in like riley. Many australians are living in energy inefficient homes in this episode. We discuss energy poverty. Is everyone being included in a future transition to clean and renewable energy. You're listening to think sustainability. i'm malene even so what i'm gonna talk about old. I had to buy extra blankets and sleeping jumpers and leggings and slept pants and stuff like that. Thankfully it's getting a little warmer now

"Just what i thought things couldn't get any more insipid. I'm sending article from the washington post that says that president biden's trip to dover was tough on him. He had a tough time because his life has been shaped heavily by tragedy and it was tough for him to have to go receive. The bodies of the service members were killed in afghanistan to make this about biden is mind-blowing. Because i too thought how difficult the trip to dover must have been for biden because he had to explain to those families why he made the decision. He made that led to the deaths of their loved. Get getting a lot of other roles He gave me my first sort of like big lead in a television series And he's extremely supportive in so many other ways you know like he came and watched ni- directed film with my partner and he came to the edit and watched a cut like he's very supportive. He so supportive of young filmmakers. Knew filmmakers Just amazing that way. Isn't it a heated. The podcast pretty recently. And if you'll get his red like the resume. It's all the most eclectic filmmaking resume personal but then you see things like wait. He was like the second unit director on hunger games. Just like what you spent spent like four hours five hours with us while he's cutting something else you know what i mean and i'm like wow. He's just incredibly supportive and loves films so much it. it's it's in. It's yeah it's i feel very blessed to have cross past stephen kind of him supporting my career. Pretty good guardian angel to have so looking ahead We mentioned terminal lists. You're pretty something with your buddy. I think dakota right to johnston human beings We've been friends since we were fifteen and you know. We both started acting the same year. I think we went on. Our additions are very first editions. I think months apart. I think we booked our very first movies like a month apart or something and so it was always like a no brainer. Essentially we're gonna find something together to do and so we're developing this tv. Show that i'm so excited about it. The more the more. I just love working with people i love. You know. it's all about in the end. Yeah she's one of my favorite human beings Sees know her dark twisted sense of humor that she would you rather With you ever. Because i had her on my comedy central nervous. Everything i've done. Would you rather sorry. I never have i ever would you rather because i so i played a game. Would you rather with her. And she was like one. I had a bunch of. Would you rather questions. And she threw about ten at me. One of which vast every guest on my show since i'm going to pose it to you because it's she asked me would you rather have a mouthful of bees or one be in your but oh my gosh the coda one being my but are you kidding. Yeah no that's the right answer. Say think you know you're you're correct. Correct that is the objective. Correct down okay. And then finally okay. So what we mentioned mad max. I'm just curious again. Just going back to childhood have be interested in fantasy genre and stuff again. I'm surprised you haven't end up in the pop culture that has dominated by superheroes and sci fi and fantasy like what's going on. Are you pursuing. That stuff is there. Is there one of those properties that really speaks to you today. i absolutely would win Do that would Venture into the superhero world. I it for me. It's just it's timing it's it. Is this what. I wanna do right now. It's always kind of spiritual thing. It's something in me that i want to explore. And if the rate you know role ended up coming to me. I absolutely would do that. i think you know it's i've played a lot of you know i think in the in the beginning of my career. I definitely got sort of put in this very extreme art house you know box and i and i love arts gnomes. Of course i. I love al-shams i love. I love broad comedy. I love you know harry potter. You know but. I definitely i think from the exterior world. Have this sort of art house thing where you know people. Can't you know i don't know. I think people assume that. I kind of only would ever want to do cans films or something but i i you know i. I definitely don't feel that way. We're putting it out into the universe. Okay she's open to everything because yeah it's it's I mean. I love talking to someone. Who's work i admire. "Some of the magic's already gone because things are working. I was recently watching a movie with my little sisters in their twelve. And there were like i was like. Oh you know how they do that and they were like. I don't wanna hear it. I don't wanna do that. And i was telling you explaining how they're doing all the effects and you know And i realize like with harry potter. I sort of still have this Sort of they're still this sort of a disconnect for me and it felt like because i grew up with it i it was kind of one of the only only films that i still had this. There's ican and going to the the sets kind of ruined it a little bit. You know and i kind of wish. I didn't but also is amazing to see like you know how epic they were or how the What about the film's what's your favorite of the films. This is hard. I'm always. I'm always i kind of go through phases where i'll watch one two three four go all the way up and then i'll start over and i'll just keep redick now. All of them. I love the first one just because of the childhood nostalgia. The third one was for a long time. My favorite Let's the koran one. Of course your fires. And then as i got older i loved the The half blood Half blood prints That was really emotional. I love god prisoner. Ask van though is was probably. That was probably the first one that i was like. Whoa this is. This is cool it will it certainly yes. They the world building that chris columbus was able to do in the first to end the casting major props for those two but clearly the third one kind of like elevated the film making the craft. It's kind of like another level. Total on the other they all and they hold up in their perennials. Now they're classics Have you with any of the principal actors. Have you crossed hassle. Okay fine fact. I did in got devil all the times. I've been double time. I worked with the actor. That plays dudley. Oh is it Is that matthew snow is. It's don't put this thing. Because i can't betray you as a poser of harry potter harry. His name terry. So is that a moment that you confess your harry potter obsessional. I didn't recognize him at first. I didn't recognize him because he's much older. He looks very different. Emma i didn't. He's like a very serious actor in. He was very much in character night. Didn't like i didn't want to geek out. You know because i run his. You know like you know he. Obviously i'm sure they get that so often now and very serious film set playing these very serious characters But i definitely was having this moment of like when i realized it was him. Oh god i told my husband. He was onset he was like. That's crazy. I totally get star struck by them. I saw emma watson once an event. And i think she came up to me and i think she said hi and i think i just froze it. Sounds like the way you're recounting. It sounds like you blacked out. You don't even blacked out. And i think she kind of knew who. I was or something i don't know she said hi. Maybe she didn't know who i was. But i was like just like couldn't couldn't handle. It is bizarre how well adjusted those. Those i don't know what lottery they hit with those actors but those key actors. They're all like great human beings to an amazing to see how they've grown up. Did the the timing of fantastic beasts worked for you ever go up for a role did were you. Did you say to team keough me in. There actually did audition fantastic beasts. I did I was shooting the girlfriend experience at the time. And i probably didn't prep enough. 'cause i i remember they called me in and i was shooting a girlfriend experience and i think ahead like a night and had to go. Fly there the next day and fly back for the audition and I didn't get it. Obviously but but i you know i wish in hindsight i had more time to prepare because i was kind of like i gotta go do it even though i have no time i need to do it. It's funny that like you know you talk about growing up with fantasy and sci fi in all this kind of escape stuff again. I look at the the resume. And i love so much you've done but like when you look at genre stuff it's like i mean you've done one of very significant note fury road. Which is the movie that comes up on this podcast more than any other movie because shit. I mean come on like stone cold genius. Yeah i did a thing with actually george. Just a few months ago for the fifth anniversary. We we Yeah it was pretty as you know. He's just a special special man. Can we dive into that a bit because just endlessly fascinated by that whole experience. It is so unique in every respect of what he was able to do Just from the audition process. Did you know immediately. Like the guy's this guy's at a different operating different frequency than the rest of us. George miller i mean it must have my very first audition was just with casting director and you had to choose from four monologues and one was kind of I can't remember what they were but they were all epic monologues from you know epic films and it was like network and you know it was like it wasn't it wasn't like silly stuff and and you kind of could choose and at the time i didn't really understand what they were doing. I didn't know there were five wives. I didn't know any of that. But i chose the one you know there was one that was kind of Comedic there was one that was emotional. There was one that was You know there was different options and they let you choose the one that i chose. I can't remember the monologue but it was like a very it was firm mail. It was for a man. And i it was a very sort of like strong Mail piece you know. And i was to go for this one because i just feel like nobody else's that's kinda was my attack. One of them was like erin brockovich. I think and Yeah and so. I did the audition. And then i got a call back with the casting director and then they said they're gonna fly you to australia to do this. Sort of mix and match because there's five characters they don't meaning to see whatever So they put you know five girls. They did rounds and rounds of this. Where like five girls would be kind of going through his acting. Workshop with georgia's friend nico and so we would you know they mixed me up with five girls And we had this whole week of kind of drama school essentially and the last day george came in and watch us and a lot of it was improv. a lot of it was it was non scripted. It was you know giving us scenarios giving us things to get into arguments about and Improvisational stuff and we kind of went home. Not knowing if any of us would get it you know it wasn't. It wasn't like a done deal kind of thing and then i think about a week later. They said okay You're gonna officially off offering your plane capable. And i was like okay. I didn't know what that meant at. All you know. And i was like okay and then the next year in namibia the and then slowly i think zoe was already cast And then rosie was cast. After me i believe. And then lastly was. They continued those sort of workshops and then Agian courtney the last you and you know he so thoughtful. It's not. there's no mistake that everything. Once we started He would just send these long voice notes If i just send him a message what do you think about this. Something so quickly could be answered with a short email. He would respond about a day later. And send me like a forty five minute voice note about answering this question and be like you know so much information once we got there you know. It was very apparent that it was a different experience to your general sort of studio film we landed. We had extensive acting workshops extensive working with yvonne's ler movement coach So much so much Prep and you know You'd kind of be like. Oh these like five girls are in the back of the van in the back of the van the back of a truck. And you know you wouldn't assume like how much work done on our characters and and on every single detail that my goggles my hair color my outfit. My shoes my everything like george. There's not one detail inside the rig. There's you know if you're in there which we were for six months there's every little there's everything every detail in the truck george knows about and george put there for a reason you know naggar and you're you're like what you know and then he's like..

"Wait a very ordinary meeting. Yeah well this thing is what if you meet someone who you know as the saying goes like game recognizes game. You know it's like when you meet someone that's in so on the same kind of wavelength that you are. You almost only need to say much you because you can just go cool. I don't have to try and describe my reality bubble to them and get in wait for them to give me snapshots of their perspective of reality so that we can find out where we overlap and interlock that into some you know resonant personality identity structure thing you can just be open like okay. We're just we're just here. We see each other things. I love about india's this happens the most there for me is just getting people were also in tune with them or he's felt the first time. I went to india a hard for me to leave. Because i felt like i i. I really came home. The people are just so natural to man so much like they were all my favorite part of my family. Why do you think that is well. It's an old society. It's an old tradition and there's so many things about it that work really well. I mean it's a very also india's. A place of greed spirituality also great chaos and violence and everything else is there to this underlying spirituality that has gone on for so long to develop kind of respect for everybody. You know it's like there's this great feeling of respect only for people for things and objects in animals and everything in this world to live in that in that kind of environment I'm here in japan now. We're you know. There's a lot of that too. Jovana manifest in a much different way to india bet because japan is much more advanced For much longer been advanced industrial society. Were when i went to india alien. Technology hasn't even hit their yet. You talking nineteen seventy. It was still the old india way thing the way people behave towards each other and everything was new for me. How how much respect with people. Each other was always being constantly manifested. Do you think that has something to do with a less of a focus on individualism. They don't see everybody. But in general in india they don't see themselves as a shepherd beings. Yeah we're all one that has been in india for you know forever in the in the most Most puran and traditional way of indian life. That's the way people think that i'm not separate from you when you went into indian people when they meet Means ianna the light within you. That light is a shared life. It's not what it's a separate light from mine took were together by together and that's it creates a warrant in this society that is lacking in a lot of the world. If you sort of like we were talking about earlier was tuning music right way. Think you can tune your your vibe. You're how your feet hit the ground and how you show up in tampa presence in in with the depths everyone. It's a mixture also of making yourself kind of vulnerable but as just a opening the door so people someone can come in and and you can go out you know and it's like the you can only really see if you allow yourself to be seen you know and it's interesting you bring that to people even people who are completely unfamiliar with any of those ideas a lot of times they'll into it without really realizing it and just instantly kinda calm down and relax and feel more bit more peaceful in these with you you know. Yeah i totally agree with in terms of music starts with the the instrument. Your claim a how you treat that answer. You treated such respect. How you handle it. Always keep it clean. You don't wear shoes around everything around. The tradition of of indian cultures is s. Just as i respect this. So i won't treat badly and by respecting it makes you more onto. It makes you more sensitive to all vibration. That's really great. I'm going to stop wearing shoes on my modular synthesizer now you know. It's it's been like. I used to work in recording studios and i'd come in his session and there'd be pizza boxes on the piano and the grid stains in on the piano. Greasy hamburgers grease all over the keys and stuff like that and especially after. I've been in india that some really bothered me or if i'd be in a planet concert in rented a keyboard and the keyboard come in on a gig nearly filthy you know i'd have to clean it really carefully before i play on it and it's like a lot of musicians in the west. Actually i feel it's too bad. They don't see this aspect of what they call. Scientific are kind of cleaning everything before you use it. You can start from place of purity. We don't really have that in the west to the degree in any way that it's Places like here. Japan or india. Yeah it just. It makes sense to immediately builds intimacy. Like what you're talking about with the physical item you know the instrument having that tenderness in that care with just immediately opens the door to the self in the mind and the heart know in relation to the instrument solve because you're building that nurturing that intimate connection by having that respect for that's really cool. I mean think of vibration so that instrument is vibration. You're trying to create vibration near trying to create vibration on a high level than you have to start with everything being a right for that. Jim manifest all right. We'll terry thank you so much for doing the show. I can't tell you just how special is not much means to me and thank you for all your music over the years. It's just a real true true gift for music history and generations to come. I know for sure real pleasure to talk with.

"My notebook years ago and go back and look forward and find out that it is actually a good material for that commission interesting. How do you choose which one that you're going. Bring to life. Mike related make that your current focus For the present thing that you're working on well most of them most of it you know. It's ones that i affect me. The most strongly idea. I work with right away. It is like a matter of choice. gotta do something this is working on. So it's kinda like they choose me you definitely in. That's one of the challenging problems. I would think of making music. It's something i experienced. You know just being creative in an age where they're so much information and input and things are really collapsed down to being almost treated more like disposable content as opposed to pieces even films or books. Things can really grow and mature It makes it. I think more difficult to spend a lot of time on an idea. And then also just commit to an idea because there's so much coming through your your consciousness can kind of be filtering. Just all of the static of those the warring of the modern world and being able to hold onto that thing that seems to fit into life yet. Life in kind of culture is changing so quickly it can make it hard to keep hanging onto that amidst the cyclone of the landscape through which your living or i think the answer to this is something that is really obvious it you you have to have you have to do. Your artists daily practice. You have to engage all the time so major nut so much affected by external changes are going on in the world to be technology or even things that are going on in terms of your social life or whatever that your daily practice of music is the guy anchor that helps you examined That you have over and over again. And i had this reinforced for me. When i started studying north in classical music. Nineteen seventy with founded ans-. India musicians are So focused in there practicing. They use start amendments they become such master musicians early ages and when i started working with him i had practice ragged every day. It was like do the first practice from the morning from the time you get up in the morning and it's something Ragas are set to times of day. It's something you think of all day long the so it was kind of gave me a way of working that i was doing before intensified it and gave it a kind of a traditional framework. Yeah that's really interesting. So the actual process of creativity in creation becomes a devotional practice. That is the thing that's your writing on throughout your life. Kind of the shifting and changing of the day yeah. It's tradition of raga kind of collided with my chaotic waste. Working you know as a kind of self almost self taught musician. I had some good teachers but always wanted to do things. My own way so I had these two things going on in my life. One wind be totally free and spontaneous in the other trying to work in a tradition and It was interesting balancing act which continues in my life today. Because i basically feel like we draw inspiration out of the chaos and we have to surrender to this cast and let our let our tells be just taken into Ideas that don't make sense at all. You don't understand at all with trust the if you work with him that something will happen. Often is ideas are ordinary. They just something that musical ideas like royer boulder. Something kind of conic. Seems you can go. You can take these ideas very deep if you start exploring with them so to me that's that's kind of like in the process that i've worked with when tradition the other letting myself be swept along in the chaos. Yeah going over the falls. Yeah yeah that's really interesting so you'll take basically sometimes consider something that might seem simpler basic and just work with a long time until it's true. Nature is revealed or it doesn't need to be worked with sometimes. It just comes tonight. Trust that that simple idea is enough to review my attention. That's a that's really impressive. You know because. I think that it's so easy to be dissuaded by something. That doesn't kind of wow you for you know you get an idea and say oh. That's cool in an enthusiasm. It can wear off pretty quickly and then you're left with the reality of the idea you know instead of kind of artistic excitement of having thought of something But then being able to sort of keep working with that and just trusting the process. That's a really beautiful approach Imagine would keep one from getting frustrated in just kind of blessing to ideas and never really getting anything done now..

"Friends what's going on wealth hustle. I'm cory allen you are you and here we are together so today's podcast i. I can't really even begin to tell you how excited and i am about it now. Meaningful is to me. It was literally five years in the making of right as i started. Podcast ish. I reached out to the guests today. Who's terry riley. And i asked him to come on the show and he did not the time at that point in time we stayed in touch and check back in over the years in a long last time was right and this conversation was able to manifest for those of you. Don't know who terry riley is. He's an american composer and performer. That was a pioneer in the minimalist school of music. Along with philip glass. Lamont young and steve reich terry quite literally invented a whole new form of music and through his experimentation with different effects in composition styles literally changed the face of music worldwide his influence on music in the effects no pun intended. He's had You have definitely heard but have probably not realized that they've come from his own creativity and experimentation. I have since. I was very young. But a huge fan of terry riley's music Particularly his experimental nature and really the four godfathers of minimalist music. in general. i mean. I played a piece of glass at my father whenever i was twenty. I mean that's how much i like. These guys work But terry's work as a really special place my heart while being wildly inventive and unparalleled in its originality. It is also deeply spiritual and connected to the thing you know the sources steep within us all and he really put that on display Like no one else and all of his work and he has done that. you know. it's amazing these been doing it since the nineteen sixties which was probably before a lot of your parents or even born in. He is still doing it today. In this conversation. I intentionally did not do the kind of by album piece by piece type of conversation because terriers eighty five years old. And he's been talking about his work for the last probably forty five years in this way. I felt that's a well worn area. So what we do get into. We begin by talking about his music. and then we go into beautiful discussions on creativity and reflecting a lot of his personal experience over the years. And i got a lot out of this conversation. I have to say that. There's a lot of things particularly on writing music and how to approach music talks about that. Blew my mind that i've been thinking about ever since turns out. If you talk to a master you'll learn to since we didn't really go deep into any of his albums on this. If you aren't familiar with his music. I highly recommend checking out a rainbow in curved air sri camel songs for the ten voices of the two prophets An untitled oregon the gift and nc of course as starting places they're all completely amazing and If you inspired. I also recommend checking out some youtube videos of him playing in the sri kimmel period. They're really trippy. Because he it shows you how he invented tape delay using the time lag accumulator so mixture and go find a watch that i've watched those videos over and over and over and they never get old. They're just amazing. It was a great honor of my entire podcasting career. I'm like you. Assad share the dog podcast. Oh that's interesting. And i dove in and i want to be on. That always a pleasure to have interesting guests. Lock yourself on more interesting dog so understand. we're gonna be talking about riley. Yeah my boy. My boy As usual going to ask you to go back in time to just before you met raleigh and talk us through the house in wide that you guys got together so me and my or my accent myself. We balls when we got together. She has got a Black lab from a breeder was kind of a big breeder We went up and got him and are her and everybody year into it. We realized that it's like you know. I feel bad for her because she spent so much time alone. You know because we were at work. We'd have you know someone that would come in and take her out. And i was like well. Why don't we just in another one was another that way. She's got somebody to play with. And you know keep the occupiers wouldn't be we're busy doing whatever. And so he's my girlfriend. Started looking around and We didn't wanna get a regular another black one And she found a breeder that breeds charcoal labs so the dilutes. So they're not the blacks or not the charter of chocolate. Or they're completely different color and they're pretty. They're becoming more popular but they're kind of rare Because he's like he's has coloring is inbetween gun metal grey and pewter in the sun. He's got a chocolate era destined to him. So it's almost like chocolate sheen as yeah. It's really beautiful. And we see we decided on. A breeder was local. One we found and we went picked him out online and we were going to meet him at. The breeders plays does a do that. There was a small breeder. They did it they Had a litter probably one or once or twice a year which is in my opinion. The best way to do it Because when you get home from larger breeders that are turning them out with females they all. They seem to have problems though he did Are black ones. She had a lot of allergies and a lot of other things from this bigger breeder so to me that was a sign that they over bred. The female. And i was lucky enough in the we've found is the smaller one and it was funny because the picture that we i saw remember. I said it's charcoal. He looks like he's chocolate brown. Any he wasn't very wasn't very good looking puppy. Right is i just looked weird like this little fuzzball and i'm like i don't know it can turn out to be a handsome dog or if it's funny lookin' but anyways we ended up after six weeks Went up probably about a three hour drive each way to go. Pick him up And i've never had a dog imprint on me the way that this dog has. I've never had a relationship with the with an animal Quite like i've had with this one and for people that don't like or say don't like dogs but don't understand the connection between a man or just people human in the dog. It doesn't mean you have to be man just a human connection with with a dog and when they imprint on you the right way and all the stars are aligned with the joy that this dog brings me. I can't put into words. You know the win. When i about and this one's a hard one because i try not to think about it. But he's like my son ears me a understands me one hundred percent. He's super obedient. It's like. I just tell him what to do. And he does it. And i feel like he's talking back to me to just in the mannerisms and the in the little head corkery things that they do. I mean we're communicating. I don't care what you say We're talking. I mean you you know what i mean. And people don't understand that that it's like no no he. He's not a dog. I refer to him as as a person. And when i talk about my my dog and my daughter i always say.

Think that her mom is figuring out figuring it out because she's already experienced something. Met Her School but I feel like there's that there's also that you want your kids to have the freedom to be themselves. But you want them to be protected. And it takes a little bit of the innocence away when you have to be honest about what the world really is for nine year old. but I do think that she understands because she you know. My sister had to facetime me, so she could see that. I was okay. In I had to explain to her. The reason aunties protesting in the reason Auntie is out here. Showing her face is because she wants to make a better world for you. Because, the world isn't good enough for you right now. So when you get older. It'd be better. 'cause we may not see what it is that we're trying to do. In our lifetime. I'm perfectly okay for that, but I needed to leave some kind of legacy so that they can continue on the fight so that we can eventually get there. So when my knees goes out for Hollywood parts, in has auditions in to play the lead who play the lead in? You know in his on a TV show or whatever she knows that she's in a safe environment. Because now is the norm. FOR RACISM TO BE BAD. It is a norm for microaggressions to not be accepted in front of anyone, and I have a group of black actor actresses actors. that I've spoken to about this that told their stories like Ryan destiny and Morgan and event Nicole Brown and like I said Samantha Wear and Robin The'd like I have all of these people. that have had pets thousands of stories that we've exchange that are committing. It's not coming from a place with making people feel bad but correction. Correction isn't isn't always you know coming from an evil space. Yeah, correction is good for you, too. Yes, yes, yes, yes, and I think the onus is on us to knock it defensive to not no one wants to be wrong. Some people do want to be racist, but. Some people don't WanNa. Should've said that I'm so sorry. I'm sorry. Just say I'm sorry when you fuck up, you know create a space where people feel comfortable correcting you and don't make it about your emotions and don't. Don't make it about your ego and don't make it about your I have a black friend, dated a black guy, and whatever fucking Shit that I'm getting a lot of texts about right now. you know what I mean. Yeah, and and see yourself when you're ego comes out you know when someone says you have white privilege or someone says that made me uncomfortable. It's like they wanted get all the cloud, but they don't actually want to receive feedback and I think it's important we. Can we all just come together Jay? Agree, yeah visas is this is. This is too much. You have the eight can't wait now you got the two can't wait yeah? And then you have defunding police. You Got Abolish police which I am. An abolition is I do believe in abolishing believes in I, do believe in abolishing burdens and I think it's important to say you know when people get overwhelmed by that and freaked out by that. We talked about this last week about the cahoots program in. Eugene Oregon. Which is an experiment in sending out mental health professionals to deescalate the situation? It's just taking a new approach to this. Sending out mental health professionals instead of police with guns I first responders. That's right. Funding are first responders in in every community. They don't fund them. They fund the police. We don't need if someone that has. Autism is having an episode or is bipolar is having an episode. Child or child is getting a bag, put over their head and stressed out and does not have the tools yet. Yeah, to manage stress in fear. I the person that shows up doesn't need to be a police officer. The person that shows up needs to be someone that is trained. To deal with. A mental health issue. That knows how to restrain without harming de escalate. In nurses know how to do that. My my friend Sheena. She's the she's really funny. She wanted really funny video that went viral of telling people like. Don't bring your answer to this hospital. You'll have covert, you know. "Mean that's the music industry. As a whole. I really have to say I I appreciate with Justin Bieber posted. I think that he really meant. What he said I do not but. But you know you guys didn't know Whitney a In a bunker so I, have no. Let me it's on my phone. Ever I'm old and you can literally in a bunker. Get you on that. We're not in a bunker. No, I forgot to get you online. Hold on I'm going to do that right now. I. Yep, you're on. You're Welkom. Rank you active anti-racism today. No, not how it works. Okay, so this would just in I I appreciate. Appreciate it what? Justin bieber would just. Don't know if he needs me. He has a hundred and thirty eight million. He's good, Justin. How do you suppose named Julius Caesar? Does he have a duck his? Yeah, okay. I think that has something that I'm inspired by Black Culture I. Fitted off black culture, my style how I sing dance, perform and my fashion have all been influenced and inspired by black culture. Wow, I am committed to using my platform from this day forward to learn to speak up about racial injustice in systemic oppression, and to identify ways to be part of much needed change. And then he went on to like you know put some. People post on people that he. Posted usher. That's fantastic. You know that he admired. Yeah people are waking up in an and Co in. It being cool is a part of. People, waking up and be more comfortable in speaking out about this is something in the industry that myself in my a manager talk about a lot, because I'm coming out with an EP, finally coming out with original music and when? I say okay. I mean there was gonna be a rollout, but then all of this thing happened, and I was like it's completely toned. Says way completely toned effort to put? Anything out right now. and so we kinda had to regroup and figure it out, but one thing that we do talk about is how hard it is black at black artists. To be an RB artists that writes and sings what why artists do and if people don't understand how the industry works as far as radio you have to. You have to Pick a John John Mara Before your music comes out because that is going to determine which charts you're on. And the reason that people usually pick like urban black people pick urban is because. They won't put you on the pop charts. They just won't. They'll put you know white people that same close to rb. Music or legitimate aren't legitimate. Rb Music that are written by black artists that are produced by black producers, but if it's a black girl, then it's not gonNa make it to the pop charts. Is that like I? Mean I've I've thought this was just straight up racist, but when they didn't put little NAS on the country chart. Yes, it's like it's I. It's the same. Or when they they Got Mad when beyond saying country on the as she saying Daddy's little girl, she sang that song from lemonade, which was a country song and she's. She's from Texas like Tanya. She sings. She grew up in country music too, but. The CMA's posted her on their page during the awards and people went. Nuts because of it and they had to take the tweet down now. People were upset. Country Music Ours. You know so. It's it's in. It's in the music industry also There are millions of stories about it. They're they're artists that wanted to be artists in ended up becoming writers because the labels like well, we loved the song. We don't know if we can sell you with it, but can we give it to? You know XYZ. White girl, white boy, and should I twain sing it, yeah. Can't Unite Twain. Leeann Ryan! That's literally you know what happens, and then black people ended up becoming once again the producers of the culture, but not the face of it. And these are just these are just facts like I like when I feel like as a black person. When we talk about these things like this, the first thing people WanNa say oh. We get your black. Dress like we, but no, it's not. It's beyond that I. Live in a system where I can't fully be myself in. Speak my truth every day in like or have about truth. And that's you know that's the main reason started mutiny. I want black people to be able. To feel like they have a place. Were there they can air their grievances and it'll be that energy will be taken in something. Constructive will happen with it. and I'M GONNA encourage black actors. Producers anyone in the entertainment space. I'm only encourage you to please continue telling your story right now. That is the first phase of what we're doing. Hashtag on mutiny and white olive oil dealer. It's it's it's so. You know it pisses me off that. You know black. People have to do more work to Nah now. I had to live through this. I got traumatized by this I. Now have to tweet about it like it's. It's you know the onus is now white people to learn about that, so they can see it and go. Oh, yeah, he just said some that racist joke. That everyone's laughing at like I need to do something about that I've dealt with that, too, you know. A racist joke said in front of me by somebody that was very powerful that could. In my career. That actually reached out to me because they're afraid now. Okay, not in a joke I had to get a cavity removed the other day, and then they put a little topper on it like a hat. Hat! And it hurts so bad I was trying to do. Whatever painkillers thinking allowed to say which ones like over the counter ones nothing worked, and then I was texting. My Ad Sales Guy Because I complained if I've been paying everyone's GonNa know about it. And he was like. Why don't you use calipers long phone? And I was like Oh my God and I put the caliber CBD. In my t felt better literally within twenty minutes. SORTA. God best pretty amazing is some good stuff. Be d the problem with most CD's star. I'M GONNA. Cut You off I'm you finish in a second? But. Most of them taste like weird and swampy and nasty, and like this one It's twenty milligrams in each little packets so that you're not doing too much too little. You're not going to overdose yourself on them. It's a powder that's totally tasteless and mixes and. T couldn't taste. It just tasted like delicious is very very tasteless residue, no like. Film Not GonNa lie I did put mine in Diet, COKE And then drink it with the that's party and it was not only was healthy but I was I felt great. But I also cancels out, too yeah. I am probably in trouble for saying they're gonNA. Go. You can't legally say that, but. No I also have a little bit before I go to bed. I'll have a little bit with like a smoothie before i. go to bed when I wanNA. Have my like nutrients. I'll put a little CD powder in there sometimes I actually put some in. I'm getting crazy in quarantine I put some almond Juneau that chocolate pudding I eat Vietnam and chocolate I. put like a little I know about. Putin you can put you in pretty much anything you put in your coffee. It's just like good friends. "Oh, my God and so. It's just A. I think a very important. Realize known saying. You're I think why people are so afraid of being called a bad. We associate we go. You have fertility of white privilege. You are bad person. You haven't had it hard. Everyone thinks they've had it heart. Everyone's had adversity in their life because the first thing they usually when you talk about. White privilege is, they'll say I'm not rich. That's not what we're. It's our saying that's not what we're saying. But. You probably the mayor do. Right you probably do have the ability to go into a store and not be followed around, or you can wear a feeling outside that up now or the feeling of going to a store and having to. Make sure that you greet the person in make eye contact with the security because you don't want them to think that you're coming in here to steal. That is a big thing for me I was. I was yelled at by by someone going into a store with my friends. You guys have to come in here. One by one and I'm like Y. Kazan no intention in stealing. And you know so I'm GonNa Li. Like you know those little those those little. That wasn't if that was BLOOMINGTON racism, but like even the little microaggressions like touching the hair in in all of all of that. And you know for white people. It's not about you being. A good person or a bad person it's about you being a person in seeing another person and being able in like. Please thought with the I. Don't see Color Shit. That's bullshit. I'm something to radio. Everybody sees color. You have to not. Attach judgment to that color and how you react to that person, you should be able to see the night in very very black. I don't care if they're ghetto. I. Don't care if they're vernacular isn't like yours I don't care. If they got red braids, or whatever we have to erase these judgments, and these these stereotypes of when we see black people. That's what you need to work on it is it is Lazy To Nazi color I think, but I think why people truly think. They nail it when they say that. I'm colorblind done handled like Are, you actually like what are you? Is the dress golden blue. Dame we're playing was. The dress blue I don't know. I don't see color. See I just saw it in black and white. It was blue, dammit. That'd be something to keep an. Said Oh No sure. What happened? No, don't put me in a Corner Whitney. About what would she say that was just about? You know we I've been seeing a lot on instagram. Bars you know saying, don't come from my name not. At all love Nikki. Just what I had. Let me start with this. Being a lot. On social media. Of A quote that says love Black People like you love Black Culture Oh. Yeah, you mean seeing that a lot. We've also been saying that a lot. Why what is that? Help for the people that don't understand what that means? What does it mean white people make a lot of money black culture. Look at a U. Music Industry. Would you like to Chime in on that? No, if I chime in on that, I'm going to have the name names in I. Have, promised!.

"Talk about what theater directors who refused to learn my name and called me. It is now the time. I mean these are. I was so upset that a brother said to me instead of having a conversation with employees, expressing my concern of Allah concern as the only black female student class. While others rehearsed modern materials, I could only be assigned to play a slave in a satire. Christine. social is her handle. Continued I'm sick and tired more needs to be done in the industry. We are more than just playing slaves. We're more than just playing the sidekick to the white woman we are leads. We are humans. Black women are more than that. We are capable of so much more. So there. You know I think again per your point of we think of racism as cross burnings, saying the N. word. You know attacking a black person allowing this stuff to happen around us and not using our privileged to stop it from happening and to protect the person who? Doesn't WANNA push it. You know I talked to a lot of my. I never spoke up because I'm I'm just so afraid of coming off angry. Of coming off belligerent, coming up difficult and I'd WanNa. Lose my job I've been literally `to that Oh you know. It's just unfortunate, but you know the white girls just they're. They're not disposable. The black black people colored they're. They're more disposable. The world that we live in Hollywood I remember one of my first. Big Auditions for a show I walked in. And this was the. Producer call. And I. Did, whatever got all the laughs, and it was really good, and I felt really confident, and I walked out. Now Mind you the role that I was going for I was the only black one the other?
