I'll tell you who that wasn't 6 50. Hey, how'd you make out yesterday? With the kids getting vaccines? Normal vaccines. Yeah, Yeah. Normal vaccines, my kids. I mean, this might even be the case for a lot of people. But we sort of just fell behind on their regular vaccine schedule this past year because we weren't doing the doctor visits like we normally would. So we're trying to get a few and now and yesterday was better. We took him a couple of weeks ago to get a few shots, and they both absolutely lost it. And my son Riley was flailing about in the nurse scratched his leg with the needle. It was bleeding. And Molly was just freaking out because she still had it was just a mess. Yesterday was a lot better. Thank you for asking a man. But he told us that first story and I gotta be careful in case you know your kids get up and start listening in the kitchen or something. But when he told that first story, it was the nightmare of nightmares. How old's volley Now? She five, She's four. She'll be five soon. Somalis watching this whole thing was a discussion like Who's going first. Did Riley go? My baby brother? Should I go? And so Riley goes first. And, as Kevin told stories like Molly's watching this nightmare of needles slipping scratching little Riley's leg blood everywhere. People screaming cats and dogs, Miao in barking. It's just a nightmare. Right and Molly's watching it and she still has to go, and she's like Yeah, No, no. And she was she was staying. I get so picture her little face. She had her glasses, huh? And they were all fogged up from screaming and she has her mask on. You know, we're still we're in doctor's offices. She's still wearing a mask. And they're just filling up with snot and tears. And it was. I mean, it was a disaster. She's like, I'm not doing this. I was on Prager. You he says, don't do it. I'm not doing this is staying away from this stuff. Get out here and get out here. Oh, my gosh. The four kids so yesterday you don't get it How it's Ah, there, right. So yesterday everything went much better. They got ice cream. Afterwards. I assume They did? Yes. They got the ice. They helped a lot saying, you know, you get the ice cream after this and not a problem yesterday. Thank you. This, Kevin let it slip yesterday morning that they were getting shots. They didn't know and he just kind of let it slip. Yeah. They were prepared yesterday morning. You know, like I stepped away from work for a minute. We had a little commercial break or something. And I went downstairs and Allie was talking. My wife was talking about getting them ice cream. Today for Friday after school and I was like, Oh, well, Allie, They're getting ice cream later today, you know after and then I just did like the finger motion of like a shot in my arm trying to do code. But my my daughter is quite smart. She's she's You know, she goes shots were getting shots today in Riley's like I know what that word means. Yeah, exactly. And then, Kevin. "Lincoln riley who's coach oklahoma. Who also coached jalen hurts. He was on our show last week. And he said this about jalen hurts now. Taking over in philly donald. He's really really excited for the album. It's not that he would ever say that. I mean he's pretty low key guy. But i know he's putting in a tunnel or behind the scenes and you know he's a guy that believes he's ready for this. I mean no question about it. I mean he. He believes that this is a tremendous opportunity. And nobody's gonna work the kid. That's that's not gonna happen when you're when you're the quarterback there's a there's a difference between kind of hoping you're going to be the guy and then knowing and feeling you're the guy and the cat had confidence that brings along to make can be a game changer. I think it'll be a big deal for jalen. It's you'd certainly for the eagles well to make sure that he is the guy and they'll find out this year you

And here we are together, moving on through this Friday edition. Just a few moments left in the show, but plenty of time to take care of some important things here, and that is putting a lid on our movie themes. For today and just, you know, we did. This started from a survey was done where they said OK, you tell us what the most iconic movie themes are. And I'm they took 2000 folks and what I think they did was they played these themes for them and if they could identify them? The ones that were most identified, made it to the top of the list and someone texted me and said that they thought, you know, this whole thing was sort of a very generational thing. And I think you're right because every generation has his block of movies that with which it identifies, and some will go across several generations. As some of the movies were about to talk about half But then some will not. And some will stick with you. You go. Yeah, that's from someone. So I love that you might name that, as is an iconic thing. But the next generation may not see it as such. Or the previous for that matter. But so we asked in our Facebook posting, What do you think is the best? Movie theme ever, and we got some responses via Facebook. We got some responses via text share some of those with you here and But first I wanted to run out that the top 10 list as we mentioned earlier. We we did Harry Potter that was number one on the list. Titanic number two inception, which I couldn't identify if I had to never saw the movie. But a lot of folks didn't number three on the list. West side story that it unedited at that. Did it. Edited it. Okay, you get the picture there. Also a lot of votes coming in this morning for this one. Let's see if you can identify this one before it really ramps up. Okay? Yes. Oh, sounds like every musical I've ever heard a musical. How well Yeah, gone with the wind, terrorist name terrorist theme, certainly iconic, and that was with.

Ben Silverman - Ececutive Producer of The Office

"How did you discover the uk version of the office. I was at my friend. Henrietta conrad's house. I was not an agent. I had left being an agent where i had found everything from who wants to be a millionaire to cracker queer as folk and had translated them into america as the packaging agent and i laughed. Backed by barry diller to start my own company called rally and i had just begun reveling in win over to london for a work trip and was staying at my friend. Henrietta conrad's house and we were watching television. And i was literally flipping the channels and i came on to the office. This is episode one or two okay of the uk season one office. Wow and i was watching it. I wondering if it was for comedy or for real than quickly recognized what it was doing single camera no laugh track faux documentary with people who felt real and i kept watching and started laughing. And it's really hard to make me laugh. And i was falling in love with the show in that moment and then i started thinking about it the next day in the morning and i asked henrietta if she knew ricky gervais as and she said no but her friend dan. Mazer did and we organized and had dinner with dan that night. Which are twenty four hours after you after you see it for the first time on television. You're having dinner with someone who could get you to ricky. Yes and additionally. I also wanted to be with dan. Dan was sasha baron. Cohen's partner allergy was on television. Was allie ardor your then no in the uk okay. But i'm with dan mazer yep. Dan is lovely brilliant in his own. Right and i start peppering questions about the office. And he gives me ricky cell phone number and so the next day. I call ricky around eleven o'clock in the morning and introduce myself on the phone and say i'd love to meet you. Are you in town. He goes actually. Yes me in soho at the starbucks this afternoon and i coordinate a meeting and i spent an hour with ricky talking about the office and very quickly we got along because we both love television and he truly was making me laugh even in those moment right over over the coffee at starbucks and so he clearly had chosen the location of the starbucks because he then says to me oh good news. My agent is right around the corner. Let's go meet with them so it was almost like he met me confirmed. I was okay roy. Conversation was interesting and then we walked over and met with dunkin' as his agent. And then duncan and i began a three month process to secure the rights. And it wasn't until dunkin. Help me unlock it. All that i realized. Both the bbc and ricky controlled the rights. I needed ricky and stephen merchant to actually get it done and agitate to get it done otherwise. It was never going to get done. Got it so you you deal with the bbc. And you deal with ricky steven. You have this partnership in place and where do you go into the united states. I immediately start making phone calls and saying. Are you aware of the show the office. Do you know what it is. Do you think it would interest you. And this is probably now a month after are so run. The show has started to gain buzz. It's aired its cycle in the uk. Its initial six episodes and so it has an awareness. Now it's a thing right not a big thing but to anyone in england it in the television industry. You're aware so. I'm i'm back at the states reaching out to people one of the incredible things about hollywood which was a huge advantage for me to do. Well was that people in hollywood are pretty insular and don't like to travel. They think you need a passport to get from burbank to beverly hills. That is travel and so many people at this time in american television had no clue connection about anything beyond la. Right and only one exac at the time knew what i was talking about was a guy named nick grad. Who worked at fx and he knew what the show was and he loved the show. Kevin riley was running fx. At the time. I'd gone to less mooned us he passed. I went to gail berman. She passed immediately. Didn't get it. Hbo said we'll never do a remake. They clearly have altered that thinking that that time they were like. We won't do a format and showtime wasn't doing shows like this right. I didn't go to abc. 'cause i just knew it wasn't abc. Right and i was starting to tease. Nbc with it and kevin than got named the head of nbc. And i bring it up to him. And i say would you wanna do it here and kevin says absolutely little. Did he know he was actually my only buyer that time. He was the only one right who wanted everyone else. All of television everyone else had passed. Now are you in kevin's like let's do it. Like let's let's make it. You know i'll give you a pilot movement and then kevin's boss though. Who is very involved in his life. Jeff zucker didn't really like it that much because it was his single camera. Nola back injury. I got it like it was a hard pill for them to swallow. I was also like they didn't want the game show back in prime time when i brought millionaire. Everyone thought that was cheesy. Daytime like no no. This will change. Tv know you gotta look at it from how to push the genre and pushed the envelope. So that you can expand versus always play for defense right and i was like this is another level and this is potentially transformative of television and with that can come great great

Boston students, parents push back against plans to return middle school students to classrooms in Massachusetts .

"As massachusetts pushes for middle schools to go full time for in person learning by the end of april. Some students parents and school committee members are pushing back more than that now. From lily bulky. Education commissioner jeffrey. Riley announced the deadline earlier this month raising concerns. That timeline may not work for every district. Some including boston have made gradual reopening plans with hybrid models. Silica soto is apparent organizer with the boston education justice alliance and has two kids in boston public schools. She doesn't think there's enough time for the city to meet the new deadline especially as marginalized communities are still being hit harder. By the virus riley have good infringes. He has not taken parents and students enter. Consideration especially low income black and brown family five mandate in that district of fully back in. I soto knows through seventh graders. School doesn't have a school bus so she'll have to use public transportation. Which in boston has recently reduced. Its service she thinks. More advanced planning is needed before the district can resume normal operations. Some school districts in the state say they're ready others say there's more to do groups like the massachusetts education justice alliance urging the state to provide adequate time to ensure all schools are reopen safely.

Where Estate Planning and Social Inequality Meet

"I'm richie philanthropy. Jesse vice admiral flint pod. Chris miller and today our guests are laurel and riley carbone kern founders of tall grass estate. Planning their goal was to create a different kind of law firm when they're reaches out to people who are routinely overlooked traditional law firms or people who are hesitant to work with traditional law firms we talked to riley in laurel about social justice through estate planning the lord of the rings and why everyone needs estate planning even sar on the deceiver enjoy. We are very excited. Have riley and laurel kaduna kern from tall grass estate. Planning on the podcast today. Hello both of you view. Elo mainly grits. Thank you welcome. Mo- more popular of the two of us. I would say it's all the incheon. Listen we fight over the attention. That's always been our problem. And i relate to. That aren't i don't have to fight for our listeners. They're going to be asking this point why we are having an estate. Planning company on the podcast. So we'll start with the most basic question which is how is estate planning social justice issue. I recognize that estate. Planning sounds like feels like smells like the most untold listed whitebread topic. Anyone has ever thought about. We are as spicy as as yes manny's however we are grateful to be able to do a fair amount of pro bono low bono work and we see in that practice a number of things pop up like over and over and over again people who their grandparents great grandparents own a piece of property and then didn't know about estate planning and so now they're in a situation where like fifteen people own it To be able to like apply for grants for certain things they would need to track all of down or pay for a quiet title action. It should be something that is giving them wealth insecurity but instead it's costing them money to have this asset and if you know what state planning is if you're willing to hear about it and learn about it It can really enhanced generational wealth for for non. Just you know middle class. America or or upper class market but like literally everyone. And that's why it's so important to us to help. People understand estate. Planning is for every single person. The the misconception is that estate planning is about figuring out who gets your stuff when you die and there's a whole lot of people who look at their lives and think i don't have stuff so who cares That's that's a wrong understanding of what it is. It's really just about making sure that the right people are in control at the right times of the right things and what we see your your question about it. Being a social justice issue is that there are massive disparity in who plans for that kind of control and because all of us no matter. What our demographic Racial status religious status nationality cetera. All of us are subject to losing that control because of disability and death because of the disparity in who plans there's also a disparity generational wealth and the influence political influence financial prosperity. That come along with that so over generations you see the disparity linked to you know we think of as as a as a pretty clear as one example reinforcement of systemic racism. Disproportionately people who have large amounts of money are larger. Amounts of money are thinking about doing estate planning right. It has occurred to them. Hey i should probably do a power return. He get a trust in place right but the reason that they're doing that planning the things that they see may be happening down the down the line in their lives and being possible. Those things are possible for every single person regardless of how much you have but if you have a plan in place it's gonna affect your life and your loved ones a lot differently than if you don't have that planning in place

Fallout of Texas winter blast

"Good evening. Thank you for joining us. The governor of sexist apologizing and promising answers after a deadly winter storm the deep freeze. Just the start of an ongoing nightmare for residents now. Struggling with shattered pipes in skyrocketing energy. Bill here's abc's tripled. I can't imagine what it's like for you to see it like this is terrible. I've never thinking house. This brianna bolden tells me she could smell the soap rotting wood from outside the front door of her grandmother's house before walking into this is pictures and the memories. They captured all underwater. And this is actually my big lama right here. This is all and that's the past those wife for half a century. Her grandparents filled this home with children and grandchildren home cooked meals. Tiny reminders of a family growing together is a lot of memories at this house. But now this house like so many in texas has been gutted. Helplessly flooded by first hypes last week's historic winter storm on your couch look. The damage is just a fraction of the devastation. in texas. that killed thirty. Two people will take months or years and billions of dollars to clean up. So how did it go so wrong so quickly. Texas has more than enough generating capacity to handle itself. It was just the state of affairs of that equipment and the state of affairs of the management of that equipment. The causes from texas is the only state in the continental us with an independent grid meaning. It does not connect to any other states power source. When that merciless winter weather hid in one of the warmest regions of the country. People crank up their heaters and the energy demand surged when that system shut down. There was nowhere to turn for power. There is no place for the texas grid to go there. Couple small lines extension cords to the east in the west. But that's not enough really to to pick up. A forty percent drop in texas generation and the result was more than three million texas residents in the dark and cold at one point leading many to take drastic measures for running dangerously low on one. So now what we've been doing. All day is actually coming outside getting snow putting it are pods and heaving on our propane grill. Then hypes began to freeze and burst shutting down water treatment plants across the state inning. Almost fifteen million texans would have to toil their water of four. It was safe to drink daily block water. We don't even have the electric reliability council of texas or bur. Kat had long been warned. Its infrastructure was vulnerable to freezing temperatures the state legislature held hearings on this exact issue in twenty eleven. The last time the state experienced major freeze there were numerous hearings hundreds of pages of recommendations but they were all made voluntarily. Nobody actually change the incentives so that the generators would have a financial reason food to weather. Is this week. Several urquhot born members resigned in the wake of this disaster today in virtual urquhot board of directors meeting. The chairwoman acknowledged the pain and suffering of texans her resignation effective after the meeting ended. All of our hearts go out to all of you with head to go without electricity. Heat water not attending and food during frigid temperatures and continue to face the tragic consequences in some cases. The loss of a loved one state leaders have promised an investigation into urquhot handling of the crisis and members of both parties and the governor of rowing to make sure texans are on the hook for those astronomical electric bills at a time when essential services were needed. The most the system broke. You deserve answers. You will get those answers but people brianna bolden are in need of far more immediate solutions. She's facing mounting hardships. Having recently lost her father and grandfather. It sounds like your grandmother doesn't have home insurance right now. She don't she couldn't afford it anymore. Every generation been through this. Is papa really worked hard for this. I'm sorry statewide. There is so much damage from burst. Pipes plumbers can't keep up see the water. We have another one right here. Everardo omega of a plumbing. In houston says he's crews have been working around the clock just as bad. I mean there's necas mad and they're receiving more calls than they can answer this heartbreaking the tell somebody. uk make we broke down here. Twenty five hours plummer andrew mitchell in his family driving all the way from new jersey with a car full of equipment in arts in short supply here for just going to see what we can do to help out texas residents and also converging in texas to help out the cajun navy civilian volunteers known for using their big trucks. Kamal boats for rescues during major storms like hurricane harvey in twenty seventeen. We talked with a lot of people around here who've been they were impacted by hurricane harvey. I dealing with this. A lot of people think that this is worse than a hurricane's coming in we have more. We know what's going to happen with this disaster. We did not know what was coming. Community was not prepared. No one knew what was coming riley at this is marin mckim. She spent the last decade doing aid work in africa. When disaster struck home she was one of the first on the front lines. The cajun navy has gotten quite good quickly setting up distribution sites like this one but with so many people impacted. Cajun navy crowd sources disasters and cajun navias known so once we find the need we start using the social media platform and we put the word out there and people want to help on this day. Yeah i'm just going to give this a shot. I might not be the most outspoken loud crazy dramatic in your face type of man. Yeah but he overall. I think he was like the steadiness that i think any bachelorette i could've used on a season. Yeah i wish he would have gone farther. I think there. I won't name names. "Into we can tell like. They gave me compliments on how i was as a person who i'm just like appreciate appreciated about the show. Allow me to see a side of muscle that i did not expect You know to be able to reach a especially as such a short period of time. It was just a few months on by minister. We always joke about this. That like you. It really gets therapeutic too. You're you're always in itn's and you're talking about your feelings. You're just in a way that you never have before and it's really is a beautiful thing and in the show is and you got all these feelings. And who do. I talk to your friends at home. Don't understand you're like like let's just talk about it. A lot of people get into relationships after the show because they're just so open and ready to like talk about how they feel. The you'll see it you'll start seeing it happen with the men and i may say it's very it's it's obviously difficult and very uncomfortable. At first i don't think anyone's us to opening up that quickly to a partner let alone olive olive america. If you will. But but i will say this. It will only set you up for success. Success saving boards. You'll only you up for success for future relationships wherever that may be it on your own walking down the street or in paradise who knows but riley. We have one more question. But it's been such a pleasure to watch you into have you on an end to just pick your brain a little bit more to get a whole new of riley that that america should should be listening to so before you had a. We asked all of our guests this. What was your rose and thorn of the season so be. All you know. He behaved himself. I'm not scared not even said on the show. You know yeah. He's condescending but he just never came at me so that's why didn't they say that i'm not one to go out looking for the smoke but if you want to smoke listen we can do this as all so is it safe to say. We're never going to see you in bennett like going to brunch new york together. Any time soon undergo listen. I don't dislike finish all right. I think i think actually it would be a good idea if we went in had brunch or something like that to talk because actually wanna find some common ground with people. I think may have been come from two totally different ends of the spectrum. We're about where we come from and how we grew up in our backgrounds and stuff like that. It'd be great to be able to discuss with bennett Just cultural things in life things So when we do get a no situations he'll know that you can tell another grown man that they don't have three of the four whatever of emotional intelligence something like that. And i mean even though you you might actually believe They need to improve those areas. Nobody actually knows those things like if somebody offers that like hey can you help me are cool. But nobody actually try that. And you didn't think about. Noah would take in like how everybody because how would it took would have been like a. It's not our so yeah. This might be a little bit of a different demeanor than what i had. You know all the renewed also about casting soda way. That's it's more freeing space to just be you. That's what our listeners want. They wanna get to know riley they wanna to see the other side of you they want you to give us the inside scoop of what was going down in the house in who you were cool with. I mean do you feel like you missed out on not being able to travel only because we went.

She loves his show. And i'm like all right. It's probably a good chance that you know they'll let me go on me go wooded in every day or every episode. You know airs. I get emails and texts from so last son. He's going to ask for signed headshot. Now that's why did you watch the show before coming on. Or how did you get started in it. So i didn't watch the show right What happened was i was recommended on our friend of mine who saw me in courtrooms flow. She saw me in court And i just happened to be implant closed day. Because i didn't have to do anything i was just like picking up something from the courthouse. And she's like oh you should be on the show. I look at her. I'm like shut up like you know like I'm serious like like a picture. Like sign you up all this stuff so she signed me up for the show and before you know it i got somebody you know. One of the producers reached out to me and the rest is history I didn't make that the first casting. I guess but in after kobe you gotta check out some begin. Hey you're still entering might hell. Yeah those do it still need to. I'm still saying great addition to the show like you. You were one of my favorites and we a bachelor happy of who built us. You're one of our favorites. And i i mean if you weren't with a hip riley cut i like you riley on a very partial to two attorneys obviously partial. Black letter thing is you were about your business on the show and i think a lot of the guys were but i don't know i felt like you weren't nothing was an act with you. You were very much so yourself you all. You got along with the men in the house but you were also very serious about pursuing tayshia and it. I thought you were like really intense and then was like you know no. He's focused on his relationship with russia. So go ahead go ahead. I was gonna say i was gonna say i'm just i'm about my business. I like to keep your real And i knew coming in a situation like time is of the essence on mike. Hi let me kind of get to the point All it is other nonsense you know. People want to go back and forth in argue about you. Know petty bullshit drama was like you know. Say for the next person. "Welcome back basser. Happy our listeners off. We had becca an interesting episode last night. Dare i say i. I'll give an interesting. Because i i personally feel cheater. I don't know about you so cheated because have the episode was a regular episode and half the episode was mental If i want to watch two hours of anything it's mental And we didn't get that did not it's like i'm par with everything else this season. In this year it was cut short. A was choppy. I do like the fact though. One thing i did like about menthol is that there was less men when it was like the really like standout man that we've seen from this season it felt very very much like a real housewives reunion and of course we love real housewives so i appreciated that fat but yet i wanted to get into it a lot more. And they're just. I say choppy. I felt like we would get into a conversation or the drama and it would hit it to something else and then pivot and it was kind of all over the place you know. I think we should just get into it. We are of course gonna have one of our favorites from the season who we did see have an amazing presence mental that is riley so we're going to have him on later today and we'll get the tea from him will pick his brain on all things from the season from the switcheroo from mental delicious. Get into it from the beginning because like you said. It was only half of a regular. When chris harrison walked in with the holidays coming up. I'm sure most of us are spending a bit more time in the kitchen. Maybe whipping up some new recipes decorating cookies or particularly in my personal favorite holiday pastime drinking red wine and since i'm the queen of spills herself and should probably already have a trophy for stain removal. It's important to always have clean on hand. Oxy clean versatile stain remover is the go-to product for tough stains on laundry and almost any other surface in your home. There are more than one hundred and one ways to use it and gets all of those tough stains red wine to coffee to makeup inc dirt and more trust me..

"Hey Everybody Jack here and probably most of you already know what I'm about to say but I have some very unfortunate. Tragic News. On Monday night, we lost Riley Gail singer of the band power trip also friend of the show, and in fact, listener of the show to he's been on here three times I've considered him a good friend and I don't know I everybody knows Riley is completely shocked and I don't think anybody. I'm we're all devastated I got the news. Man I got the news Tuesday and dislike immediately. Absolutely broke down has just bawling crying. And didn't Stop Dude I didn't stop crying until I went to bed. I was just crying. which is crazy because I mean I've lost I've lost people before I've lost friends family. In fact, this is not even isn't the first guest of the show that we've lost. This isn't even the second guest is just crazy But. Riley is hit me particularly hard. I think a lot of people feel the same way so. I wanted to do an episode for Riley Specifically this is This is the Patriot episode that I recorded with him. While ago at its most of a Patriot episode, I took some parts out there just weren't really relevant or it's just me talking I kind of just wanted to let Riley tells him stories the full episodes on there, but I wanted to put this out on the main feed for many reasons And if you haven't heard of before episode, one, fifty, four Riley joined us and told US would I consider be one of the best stories to ever be on the spot gas? It's about Really. And some friends pretending to be Jewish so that they could sneak onto a birthright trip to Israel when they were young to get a free vacation and not only that. But just all the antics that ensued it sounds fake this definitely did happen. In fact, I, really would love to talk to the guys. That he went on this trip with I've been trying to find pictures from it. I only found one so far but maybe I'll be able to follow that later but Riley, you know he knew so many people and he had so many stories It's crazy. I. I just wanted to I WANNA put out this episode and I want to talk about Riley a little bit I promise I won't turn this into personal therapy session even though I, may be do need that this week but yeah, I just wanted to I. wanted to talk about Riley because I think a lot of you guys knew him from the show. There's probably a lot of fans of power trip who listen to this and in Riley literally listen to this show So I to do it I just wanted to pay respects in my own way that I that I can. Finally Riley listen to you, but still he would text me after every episode. In fact, he was aggressively trying to get a certain guest certain dream guests onto the show making very serious prod progress with that. In fact, our last conversations were about that. He sent me this person's phone number nothing has happened with it. Yet I don't know if it ever will You might even guess the person is I'm not GonNa say what is I'm not gonNA put on blast But Riley has was tirelessly working on this for no reason I did not ask him to he That's just how he was. he was just trying to help. He was going to gain nothing from it and. He was just like that and since he's passed and people have come out with these stories about him, I've realized he was like that for so many people. All over the world, I've been completely shocked at the range of people coming out and You know talking about Riley a he is met he was a friend to so many people and I think his girlfriend said it best that he treated everybody like his best friend and he really did in fact If you're a fan of power trip I guarantee you. He cared just as much about you as he did about me or anybody he knows, I mean, he really he treated everybody like an equal and He was he was willing to help you and the people he cared about No matter what he would help you even if you asked him not to help you which has happened multiple times with me on small scales like something like He. You know like you ask something kind of like passively and you realize it's like going to be too hard for the person to make it happen he he and he just. Insists insistences that what he was like. And I mean, he had such an effect on the world I've I've I'm still completely devastated days later I don't know if I'll ever really get over this. And I think there's a lot of people that feel. The same way worse He just he was a connector that left alone a giant giant hole and Not, to mention the whole, he leaves in music I loved power trip they are probably one of my favorite bands Would I especially liked about them is that they were I mean. I grew up listening to metal and hardcore and PUNK It was really really important to me. Growing up.

"The racism is getting worse. It's just getting filmed. Gaza! and. It took people seeing black pain in black death in us being traumatized by going I. Accidentally saw what happened to Ahmad Robbery. Santa's I'm like what is. This would've caught him. It was on my my time. Line I clicked on and I was like what is going on. What is struck doing like? You know and in my mind when I saw them fighting, I couldn't now at this point. I couldn't stop watching. And then I just see him. Get Shot, and you know what the worst part is. I thought that the man that was recording, it was recording. In defense of Ahmad Aubrey. He got in his car and blocked him in. So, he was also charged. So like I. Think that that was. You know what I'm saying is like lead Oh. At least somebody you know went in. No, you recorded that Shit for sport. Not Protection! So bad idea. That it's getting better with time that there's progress. There is no progress until it is recognized by our president. There is no progress into recognized by our leaders in government. or to the same sentiment the fact that We Discount People's ages. Yeah, we discount like the little girl, the girl that was telling her parents off Oh. You're young. You don't know anything. I, I hate that We feel as though whether you're young, black person or a young white person or whoever I feel like a lot of times whatever they're saying. It's discounted because of their age. Oh you don't know what you're talking about. You like like Guy said Oh. RACISM IS GONNA die out when all the old people die out like. You learn that black president. Yeah can I ask you? What are some shows that you feel like capture the black experience and authentic truthful way that people should watch. I always be I. Love a different world. Old Go old and I'm an old soul. I feel as though I was having an argument the other day about this I feel as though eight explains the full gammit at least made, because it's my age group, but the full gamut of what it's like to have to Ha- be an educated person because we're not all just thugs. We're not all out like for the most we're not. We're just out here trying to live our lives so having to even in a black college setting experienced racism I, those great I also personally love blackish and grown ish. I feel like they touch on a lot of stuff, and they do it in a way that's palatable, so it's not directly in your face, but like a lot of because Oh and ours was to be the same age a lot of what Zoe's gone through I I personally have gone through it. I personally have gone through exactly what amber was saying because I? Speak properly or eloquently I've had teachers. Look at me twice and be like. Oh! This. This one's different I. Hate that sentence. This one's different. The amount of times I've heard that. It's. The first time I'd the teachers added. Tomato was in third grade. Eight. And to hear a teacher go. Oh, you're different this one this one so automatically. The entire rest of my raises bad but me. I'm fine because I grew up around white people. I'm texting your mom right now. Oh. Proudest Book Right now. I can't even. I can't even talk you like if you ever need. A Gen Z. corresponded this right here. This, is it also like? Yeah, I think it's important to know your limitations. It I don't love and bidding I have limitations. Just you know some things that. I don't know how I can understand unless we give you the microphone unless we you make a documentary unless you make a TV show, you know sort of like you can't stop. Educate every person. You don't have that kind of time, so we just need to figure out a way to like and I like. This is making steps in like we appreciate it because it's like some of us have voices and we know what we want to say, but we don't know exactly how to save them Or if it's right for us to say them. Because like I said people discount because of your age, or because of what you've experienced or where you've grown up, so it's like. Where am I supposed to say what I have to say or like? Where do I? Fit into the puzzle because you see the numbers and the people in the Kendricks out here like okay, see that, but that's not my path like. How do I figure out where I fit into the whole? Hodgepodge Ivy your point is right like I. Even have had to learn like. I can't educate everyone 'cause. My stance has always been paid maybe. Listen. I'm not against. My. My thought process has always been. I was fortunate enough to be put around people that instilled in me from a very young age. Your Voice Matters? And you have a responsibility and they always tell me not. Everybody's bad. Some dealers on educated. Thank you which is the thing that I always tried to? "Spilled it. Got Her good so I. I in her feelings. And the reason I'm bringing it up stupid. It's so stupid and I told Benton about this. Bengals owner know someone writes on every comedians page like I didn't realize that was something that people write on comics pages all the time because I did that auto block thing fucking ages ago. You know the auto block, mean comments that have certain key words Myanmar's like whore and busted old. You know whatever so this is. What got through and it got to got to me because I. I I don't comments. Don't hurt my feelings anymore. I am now at the point where I realized that. If you make a mean comment on my page, you love me. With me, your love me, you're in love with me and it hurts your heart that you can't be with me and this is the only thing you can do to manage your pain I'm I'm fine with me and comments, and also as what I would do. People totally that's what I do and I like someone mean to them so i. know what you're doing. I love you, too. and. Your Dad dropped the ball anyway. I I really did bug me, don't it? Did make me WANNA. Say something because we have Amber Riley on the podcast today, and it's an amazing interview, but on a legend on legend, and we're GONNA play she, saying freedom by beyond say at one of the protests and it was just. Unreal and I did WANNA. Bring it up. Though because I do feel like the last couple episodes have obviously been serious reflecting. What's going on in the world and I just want to let people know like I can't be silly in these interviews because I do. Get insecure that I'm not being funny enough, but I know what it's like to be in an interview where the host is being really funny, and then you feel like you can't be authentic or vulnerable like I've. I mean my whole career I've had to go into like radio interviews and morning show interviews and podcast interviews where you walk into comings. Come in your face. Klein Coma us, and then I have to like you. Come chance you like then I have to adapt to the tone. They're setting. Yeah, you think that that's the tone of the show now, so you just become a different person doing our love. Monster Truck. Shrug a coma, but I wanted to do here today like that's not why I drove here so like this is a delicate time and I think that in order to get the kind of interviews. We're getting I can't just be goofy. The whole time you know people have their space talk. You WanNa talk about giving them a platform brawl. These people to listen to and the reason I need to air. This resentment is because I. know the type of Bitch I am and I. Would I'll do is I'll hold and the resentment, and not say anything about it, and then one day I'll just I'll just quit the podcast. Now I'm not doing this anymore. Like I have to let it out because I do I. Know Things I think the. Is evolving you know and I think it's time. I love having my friends on, and we will always do that. Don't panic, we had. We've come down yeah like. Everyone that's going to have. Your money comet. They all have four podcasts if you WANNA. Hear Bobby Lee and Kristalina. You can hear them anytime. You want you know you don't have to come here for them, but I do. I? We had Jim Jefferies his second round. Don't worry. We talked about threesomes for about an hour. That's GONNA come out very soon it. That would have been a weird to drop that two weeks ago. Women just bazaar. And the next week I'm actually really excited. We're going to have Dr David Agathon professor of Medicine and Engineering at the university southern California. And, he. I'm so afraid I'm not gonna able to pronounce this co-founder. Naveh JENEX. Personalized Medicine Company and plied Protonix, which is probiotics as large scale study of. Shit and we love that you know that I love true science. Then ten I think we're evolving into actually talking legitimate scientists instead of Benton being like. Yeah, I, read that somewhere once. So far haven't been wrong. I did read all those things and so I think it's important to read the room you know. In terms of like I noticed that with everything. That's going on, and you'll see someone's like instagram. You're like Oh. This bitch is not reading the. Yeah, not, she's not aware. Yeah. Yeah, and so I just wanted to knowledge that because I just want you guys to know that I know and. I think the the when we this as we wanted it to be. Educational Funny, the also you're gonNA learn something about yourself. You're going to learn new vocabulary. You'RE GONNA. Be inspired like that's always what we WANNA do this podcast, but the problem is all. My friends are players comedian, so we did. You know. It is it is kind of hard to go back and forth expect more and expect different. Yeah, and so I just I love that I'm spending twenty minutes acknowledging one troll that was probably drunk when he wrote one comment, and it's controlled the last five days my, but here's your moment, sir. And then yeah, so I also like. This is what we wanted to make a podcast that was like..

"With told Riley six ten WTVN last night he was on the red carpet he was backstage today he joins us live from Los Angeles Jason they consume with ABC news so tell me Jason what's the biggest star you were closest to yesterday I was close to all of them Brad Pitt the who else is there remember these it's so early for me I've had no sleep it's really so top heavy with Brad Pitt that's okay I mean he's done it now I mean you see Brad Pitt up close the game is like a deal I'm trying to think who who who walk pass any good to talk to that's it looks like you want to talk to pretty much everybody on the on the carpet but his publicist kept pulling him away really so I had to do you punch that publicist in the throat say Hey I'm here to cover I need to talk you know of anybody award season I mean a lot of people were having a lot of fun but Brad Pitt seem to be having almost the most fun of anybody he really really enjoyed it you saw the speech is leading up to which were very very funny yeah last night's was very touching this is first ever acting Oscar he has one as a producer for twelve years a slave but he's never won one as an actor and man he seems to be the it just enjoying the process when he came backstage you seem to be he he was having fun I mean he just he really he really like the whole thing and you know everybody came backstage Renee Zellweger Laura Dern Brad Pitt as well Joaquin Phoenix was the only one who did not come backstage by the way yeah he he seems like he might be a little hard to be around well you know what he came backstage at the golden globes and he's not known as the kind of guy who likes to play the award season game he doesn't like to do interviews but he did say on stage when he won the Oscar for joker for Best Actor last night that when you get up on that stage one of the things that this job provides and allows is a platform and he used his flight from last night to talk about animal rights which he's a it was a very big passion of is but then come backstage and talk to us you have a whole press room will press waiting for it do you know to get your message out come back and talk to us but I guess you know we're not good enough for him right right right device see Tom Hanks doing push ups on the red carpet you know if you did I did not okay he he I didn't even see him I didn't even see him were really you must you must the snack bar look it's chaos out there the rain we almost got with the rain was coming down really hard at the beginning of the red carpet right now but the canopy over us but in parts of the canopy it actually started to get so heavy with water that they had to come by in push the water out with big sticks not to plug my Twitter page but at ABC news Jason on Twitter you can see video of it it's pretty remarkable so that was flooding down so yes I miss Thomas I don't know I didn't okay doing push all the fun as I know yeah I can't be everywhere but I mean I just like a fine moment Hey that sounds like a fantastic mom yeah but I I I would have enjoyed I got you so it just give me a sense of the buzz post awards that parasite one and not nineteen seventy yeah Paris I mean the the the buzz was all about Paris at the other person having the most fun aside from about Brad Pitt all award season is bong joon ho who's the director and writer of parasite that I mean that guy yeah I mean you saw in the speech last night he said he said we're gonna go drinking until the morning right and I think he probably he did that when he got backstage he he dropped an F. bomb he was so excited about because he couldn't believe that they that they had won first international film ever to win for Best Foreign Language Film our first first foreign language film to win Best Picture that's never happened before we got close last year with Roma of course life is beautiful is in the mix you know previous years crouching tiger hidden dragon a lot of people thought should have won the the year that it was up but it's never happened before and this was the first so it was a historic night for them the parents that won the most awards with four I and it was a including Best Director beating you know nineteen seventeen was the favorite and both of those categories yeah but those of us who analyze this stuff for a living knew that there was a chance that Paris I could do it well yes it was a little bit of a surprise that it actually did but we knew that there was a chance and last night I thought you know the Oscars in the academy voters made a fantastic decision not the nineteen seventy wasn't a great movie it wasn't technically was brilliant yeah but if you're talking about something with heart and something with that was just so different than anything we we've ever seen before that was parasite all right my last question how long until you get to hit the rack let's see here let me look at the schedule I got about another hour and a half until I can go to so cool and then you get to sleep for how long then I can sleep for maybe three four I'm very nice and that's all I need well I'll tell you we appreciate you very much run it and keep an eye on it and being up for us this morning so thank you Jason aprons and out you're very welcome that's Jason live in Los Angeles this morning he covers all the cool so get the hang of all the big big time deals in areas on newsradio six then there is traffic and weather we update every ten minutes on the tens it's from temp star heating and cooling products he's a kid that's a lot of rain hold yeah if you if you look at that video I mean I just felt like a take a broom inverted and then push the water off the canopy sure I'm surprised people like Renault Renee Zellweger than just float away all of our hope not to lose that yeah yeah accident scene just being reported to a six seventy east at Neil we already have one off to the left hand side six seventy east their grand view and that came from the back up on the on the three fifteen north from the earlier actually saw there so it's been a very busy time getting through downtown three fifty north is still backed up on a seventy one seventy one north still looking at twenty minutes off the south our belts and the north out about looking at about twenty five minutes from one sixty one over to seventy one there are two left lanes blocked just west of Cleveland Avenue traffic sponsored by met the western Medical Center the.

You have constructed sentences that I understand and I, it will follow you out. She just gave me a lot of information and I was able to process all of it. Also you're drinking cold brew, warmed up. Have you tasted? It's actually not bad. It's not a great as I, it's, I feel like it's cold brew has a specific taste to it. Unlike warm. Yeah, definitely does not taste like hot coffee high tastes like a tasty. It does have that warm brew vibe, but like really hot. It's strange. And it does feel like in your head, you shouldn't. This tastes like coffee. You're inventing a whole new thing. Yeah. Well, I'm not the studios. Yeah, I'm happy with it. It's it's good on this show. I have guests introduce themselves. Would you introduce yourself shore? I am Riley Silverman and. And I tend to, so it's credits. There's going to be such a hyphen it. So I tended to say comedian and writer feel like comedian encompasses when I act as well. Yeah, absolutely. I have done some dramatic acting on your show as as a matter of fact, you weren't take my way was and I. Yeah, so that was a little bit dramatic. I told some jokes, but I also had a really heavy moment. I've had some. You're doing some acting. Yeah, it was a good real edition. Amazing. Yeah. How how? Let's see. I haven't seen you in a minute you did. You did act on tape? My wife. You also consulted a little bit on the script that you were part of? Yeah, that was amazing. You guys look really cared about making sure the story like rang true to the experience and that was awesome. I've used that as an example, many, many times since then really tell me more about that. What do you mean? Well, like when I first got the script, there was like one law that was first of all that I was even asked to look at it and then also the people know this happened and maybe I shouldn't be telling it, but we'll find out you brought in a bunch of us to have like a Powell of like, oh yeah, yeah, weird about. So, yeah, we the right. The writer's room on take my wife was it was all women in nine by entering folks. And it was like pretty racially diverse, but we didn't have. You know, like this huge budget for this huge room. I can't remember how many writers run the second season. It was like five or six, it'll so what we wanted to do was we wanted it to be women and unbinding folks writing the show because it was about women and nine hundred folks. Actually at the time rea- wasn't even publicly identifying as non binary. So it was a very like women focused show felt important to us to have as many different perspectives on that in a room..
