"Whole pay per view was that Logan Paul ricochet jumping on opposite ends of the rope flying into each other. I thought that was incredible. I showed a bunch of people who don't even watch wrestling. I'm like, you know, I think it's nonsense and a huge UFC guys, obviously. Brain breaking and stuff. But I was like, hey, this had to hurt, right? They're like, oh yeah, that's crazy. Not a lot of people would try that. How'd they get the timing down? Perfectly. It was really great. I always end up burdened for omos. I just feel like every time I'm like, this is the year. He's the new Andre, the giant. They just haven't really figured it out yet. And then he always blows it. He's become the new Tony Atlas. He's right behind embiid for NBA MVP. I think he's flipped like this plus 6 50. Didn't he play at southern Florida or something? Really? Yeah, it was like a center of USF. Jesus. All right. Anything else before we go? Yeah. Short podcast. We only had two games. That's all right. Yeah, what are you gonna do? Well, extra points podcast network, all your sports gambling needs are taken care of against the odds tomorrow will recap the games. We'll give a pick on Monday and that's that. And I guess we'll be on what next week to go over these props. Yeah, Sunday Night, you're coming on and we will do an absolute shitload of props. I really thought I was gonna go to and O today I was bummed that when the Bengals got the ball with 8 minutes left, I was like, this is it, two and O. Be 9 and three for the playoffs. Just wasn't meant to be. Patrick. Joseph acai, right? You a check. And then the wife takes it goes to France. I think that's how it has to be. Do you think in this social media era, it's harder to get mad at people than it used to be? In the old days. But now it's like, with Twitter and stuff, the person might see it, and you have to be like super careful what you say. Or do you think it's me? You think it's meaner? Of course it's mayor. If you think people are thinking before they tweet, no, it's terrible. I was thinking about Scott role in this week, and of course I don't think he should go to the Hall of Fame, but I was like, oh my God. Oh, there's poor son of a bitch. All he did was play very, very good baseball. His whole life. And now if he reads on Twitter, like, you'll see like 95% want him to die. So it's bad. Like a nice thing where he showed his family and they collapsed in his arms and tears. Why is it all off to be negative? I mean, it is the Hall of Fame. I know. I feel as I've said a million times. For me, the Hall of Fame is either like you broke some sort of, you had some sort of achievement. Like you had 300 wins, or you had 3000 hits, something like that. Or when you're in town, I wanted to go see you. Yeah. And if it wasn't one of

"Was literally about to see that. All done. So Tony storm is a baby face, Charlotte's a heel, someone threw a pie. You're a baby face. Someone throws cream pies one. One great bite. There will be more. Yeah. You're a baby face, a heel just pai you in the face. Yeah, and she cried. A heel just cream podge. Gotcha. What do you do about it? Yep. Nothing. You just stand there. Yeah. I can't believe. And then Charlotte, she just stands there, Charlotte grabs another pie and shoves it in her face again. And then sloppy seconds. Tony still just stands there like a fucking idiot. Yeah. As Charlotte walks away. Yeah. Dear God, right, maybe she's never been cream pied before and you don't know. It's a weird feeling when you've been creepy. Too. Tell me more, Joe. Yeah. Well, you're not happy. Oh shit. It's really awkward later when you have to take a shit. Anyways. JBL? This could be the worst event in wrestling history. That's our podcast. But like, okay, are you trying to build up Tony storm or do you hate her? You hate her. Clearly they hate her. I don't understand this because baby faces are supposed to be cool and brave. But she just stands there like a total bitch. Never rehearsing this in Vince's like, now can you picture pounds? Yeah. I get it once. Right. Just piss. And Charlotte, she's scary. Yeah. I don't get it. No, I can't. I don't get why you would do this. We know Tony's not gonna beat Charlotte anyway, but just stand there and take a pie of the face. And then another part of the face, a second pie of the face. Two cream pie. I wonder if that. I would have Charlotte was just like, oh, she's gonna stand there anyway. I'm just gonna fire in the face again. Right. Fuck it. But just awfulness. Right. Awfulness. Oh, can't wait for this to show up on like Pornhub, like buff woman, delivers two cream pie. She was 80s to 80s rockstar. What? Next up we have Sasha Banks and Naomi versus Natalia and Shayna Baszler. Backstage before the match, Sasha complains to Sony DeVille, that if Naomi were on team SmackDown, they would have won at Survivor Series. So not because of you, Sasha. Yeah. You couldn't do that. Right, right. Sasha mox Sonia for turning into a suit in Sony says, damn right, I'm wearing a suit. I guess that makes me the boss. Sony was also on commentary for this match and Naomi won with a botched sunset flip roll up on Natalia. I guess she proved Sonya wrong. Oh yeah. They got Natalia just randomly jumps on her back. Yeah. In the middle of a match. Right. As Naomi ever had a match where she doesn't botch something. Check the footage sources say, no. After the match, Naomi walks up to Sonya like, what's up? Did you see that? And so he's like, yeah, I did. Yeah, yeah. But Sony just collapsed and says, well done. Well done. That's great. I mean, you're just gonna have people boxed shit all the time. You could have kept the iconics. Exactly. Definitely. Damp. Next up we have another kill Bill ripoff video for xia Lee. Yep. Another cartoon where she beat up the bully in her school as a kid. Sure. And she's coming soon to AEW after she's future endeavor. All right, wow, wow, aw. Yeah. That's impacted there. Something. Let's see her on YouTube. And three hours? No, they love new Japan stars, obviously. Yeah. Next up, we have the Black Friday invitational battle royal. She's Chinese, that's racist. That's pretty racist. Wow. Jesus, Joe. Backstage before the match, pierce post, the list of the participants on the wall, is this saved by the bell? Clearly, were they auditioning for a play? You mean High School Musical? Or should they don't say that? They did it on saving the bell. What? What is happening? Then Drew McIntyre walks up and Sheamus tells him you didn't make the cut and he laughs and walks away and that's the end of that. They never mentioned it. So everyone who made the cut comes out for the battle royal. They're about to start, but then Drew McIntyre runs to the ring with a sword. Like any fucking psychopath. Like a psychopath, and he tries to cut umberto's head off. Right. Thankfully, we're so ducks. And then everyone jumps over the top ropes, eliminating themselves. Yeah, correct. Drew wins. He then tries to cut angels head off, but he ducks as well. Are you keeping a tab of this? No. This was such a Hulk Hogan move. Like when Hulk Hogan lost in the Royal Rumble and then he cheated to help flare, eliminate Sid. So you're not gonna put me in the thing brother? Well then I'm just gonna come to the ring with a sword and cut everyone's head off. Right. Oh, Jesus. So, after the break, though, McIntyre is gone and the battle royal starts. I guess they just came to the ring to cut heads off. I guess they sniped him and then dragged his dead carcass out with good guy gonna do if he actually connected on any of those. Cut their heads off. Right. What? Like, I guess I'm heal now. That just shows you you're going to jail. It can't be a real sword that he brings out there because they wouldn't let him take that much of it. Like that was pretty close. Right. Oh, it's a prop sword, obviously. Fucking trips and impales himself. But I think before, before you used to come to the princes of death, before you used to come to the ring, it was like a real sword because he would just shove it in the stage. Yeah, he would just shove it in there. Yeah, shove it in that little hole. The Dark Side of the Ring, guys like get the producers. We can have this. We told him to use a real sword. And he cut angel's head, clean off. It landed in the crowd in this little kid called it. And the weird thing is, he was like blinking. For a few seconds there. Yeah. So all right, the battle royal starts where it's like and everyone's still blames me. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, yeah, sure. So drew Gulak is eliminated first and pat McAfee said Gulak was favored to win this thing. What a surprise. So funny. Moss eliminated mace, which, by the way, mace is mace again. Oh. We saw him at Survivor Series when Vince brought the egg and mace was Madden. For that little moment. He had cosplaying. It's like Superman Clark Kent. Oh, right, there you go. Yeah, yeah. In the shittiest way. Like shit man. Yeah. But they gave moss a lot of the they had him eliminate mace. They had moss eliminate tricky. And then moss tried to eliminate Corbin. Oh, wow. Well, stop. Their friends. And they laugh about it. Okay. But then Corbin throws out moss. And moss. No, he laughs hysterically, and he's like, ah, you got me. You got me. I think we should have maybe worked together in a battle royal and then I could have jumped out, you moron. No? No. All right. So the final four was Sheamus ricochet Corbin and Jeff Hardy, or so we thought. Seamus brogue kicks ricochet, he's gone. Corbin Seamus team up on hardy, but then Corbin turns on Sheamus and throws him out. You didn't just see what he did to his friend. Come on. And then hardy throws out Corbin, the bell rings, which is the end of. Yep, the end of a match is when the bell ring WWE by loss. He's music hits. That's for sure means it's over. He's announced as the winner over. Jeff celebrates some of the second rope, but then Sami Zayn comes back in the ring and pushes Jeff to the floor. The bell rings again. Uh huh. And now Sammy is announced the winner. Sammy shitty kits. Kayla, congratulate Sam in the ring, but then says I have just received breaking news. The suspension has been lifted and she's.

"CIO of Markel corporation Sort of a publicly traded financial holding company or family office Let's talk a little bit about your background which has some really interesting things about it You've described yourself as knowing that you're just good and not great Explain that Who goes out and says I'm not great I'm good and I'm aware of that Well I was in a discussion last night with an absolutely fascinating person absolutely high end quality on every measure you could think about And that excellence shown through and the discussion took this twist and turn where the distinction between an optimizer and a satisfier came up Sure And I think there is a tendency among type a people extraordinarily high accomplishment people I achievers to really latch onto the idea of optimization And there's nothing wrong with that But sometimes there can be a hidden intangible unquantifiable cost to focusing entirely on optimizations all the time Einstein says that not everything that counts can be counted and not everything that counts I was smart to be here It's a perfect example of it I remember not everything that counts can be counted and not everything that can be counted count There you go My special guest berry riddle Thanks for the pickup Was that Einstein I thought that was I thought that was some management consultant I'm gonna go with Einstein But I'll defer makes it sound better I'll defer to the fact checking experts on that But the point is there's an element of intuition of the intangible sense of spirit and culture that I find extraordinarily different difficult to matter That sometimes you have to let people have some room to make some mistakes and look at outcomes that are not optimized and what you get in design thinking and systems approach if you're dealing with the right kind of systems There's a bit of an evolutionary process where mistakes that you may start drifting away and things that you did right start compounding and magnifying themselves and as such if you just leave a little slack in the system And you don't try to press it to the last red line of what's there You allow time and space and muscle and rest and energy to create things that you couldn't have thought of beforehand And that happened somewhat through serendipity So I think humility And it's an epic challenge I'm 59 years old now And fortunately things have worked out well And I have credibility because my record is pretty good I have a lot of empathy and understanding of the challenge that would face 26 year old or 25 year old or me at 22 trying to get on the ladder and get the career and get the leeway in latitude that I enjoy right now Because if you think about it say you're 22 or 25 and you're trying to pitch somebody to manage your money for them or being given discretion Typically if you just say the kinds of things that I do a long term and we're going to be patient we're going to look at this since you don't really stand out enough to get people to direct you a check especially at 26 Exactly So you're forced almost almost bullied by the system to make hyperbolic statements and claim precision and claim efforts that are human just to get people to give you the job and give you the money to manage And I think markets are quantum systems They defy understanding and you can do a lot of work and you can keep trying to get to the next decimal point of understanding But there's a certain irreducible quantity to human psyche and greed and fear and all this sort of things that really do matter in markets And I just think it's helpful to be humble to acknowledge that Don't pretend you can know it And by virtue of not pretending that you can know it I think you're more open to ideas people different ways of thinking that you can start out with the premise that this person I'm talking to is probably smarter than I am They're demonstrably smarter than I am So I think I should listen And learn something And if you just go about your daily life that way you do learn things and you do get exposed to things and the people that were right They start to occupy a greater and greater share of your mind share and the people who are wrong kind of drift away into a smaller and smaller thing So the math of compounding really accentuates the positive and it makes the it makes the mistakes drift away into irrelevance over time Very interesting So there are two data points I'm kind of fascinated about One is in your public investments your ten largest holdings they're almost half your portfolio They're about 45% That's pretty unusual when I look at the average Let's look at a stock mutual fund The top ten holders usually way below 30% Tell us why you approach this with such a concentrated bet on those top ten stocks Well I think there are a couple of things that come together and one of my great investment teachers was my grandmother So we get to her in just a minute Now obviously those ten have worked And those have been circumstances where we're basically right And it had a high degree of confidence in order to make some substantial bets to put them in the portfolio at that size But then time and being right about your fundamental underwriting of the business kind of is your friend So here's my grandmother's story So when I was a kid and a nerd at that on Friday nights unfortunately instead of being able to get a date sometimes I would sit with my grandmother and we would watch Wall Street week with Luis ricochet And my grandmother she was widowed at a grandfather had died And she was one of the types of widows that basically never made any substantive decisions after that So she remained in the same house His suits hung from the rack in the closet His shoes were on the floor and been at just a small town local businessman in the 1960s They would have been the type that they drank coffee at the diner together and they would talk about their stock portfolio and that sort of thing That's what small town businesses people did And he had a 1215 stock little portfolio These are not massive suns sums of money And those 12 13 14 stocks that my grandfather had when he died My grandmother held those until she died Now within that.

Gurb liquid games radar reports call of duty warzone ricochet. It's called the ricochet anti cheat system is a kernel level system that aims to catch all cheaters. That is impressive if they can do one. Hundred percent catch rate. They've revolutionized the industry. They've got a product on their hand that they're about to make a lot of money off of because a lot of people are going to a lot of companies are going to want to license this. Maybe that's what they're going for here. But this is from gir. Mr gerber lick over at games radar call of duty. Warzone is getting a robust new anti cheat system that uses a kernel level driver to bolster security ricochet. And it's called. The ricochet anti cheat is launching on p. c. alongside call of duty war-zones zones pacific update later this year with a subsequent release on call of duty vanguard at a later date for the uninitiated. Colonel level. anti cheat systems have dropped. Some success scrutiny. Because they're able to access a wider range of software and applications on your pc including your graphics card driver. The benefit is that the anti cheat driver is able to better detect suspicious behavior and provide developers more data to combat cheaters. But what rubs some folks the wrong way is that it can monitor and manage your data beyond the application. I know this is a huge worry in the world. So i mean i could see where this is coming from. That said activision is fully aware of some of the privacy concerns around kernel level. Anti cheat shears at software will only turn on when you boot up duty and we'll shut down as soon as you exit application. The publisher also says ricochets anti cheat driver will only access data. That's related to call a duty for some perhaps reassuring context loza games use colonel level anti cheat drivers including fortnight fog guys apex legends gears. Five gimson impact violent. The list goes on my question for this. And this is jesse. Speaking is is this effective. Are these kernel level systems effective. Fortnight fog is apex etc. I would like to know that if you have any response if you play. Fortnight fog is apex legends gears. Five gin impact or valor online or have played it online. How is the cheating on there. Is there a lot of cheating going on i. I would actually love to know that and if you do play a game other than those that also has a kernel level system. How is that. So go to jesse chase birch at twitter dot com and sent me a reply. I'm just curious. Because are they effective systems. Are they effective back. Doors for these companies to get information just a question just throwing it out there not saying that this is what they're used for the colonel level driver. This is jordan with the games radar. The colonel level drivers the biggest highlight of the new anti cheat system but activision says ricochet also adds a quote abroad enhancement to the security in quote of call of duty or zone. Vanguard including more advanced machine learning algorithms finally activism says players reports in two factor authentication remained critical in the ever-evolving blah blah blah blah. So keep on fighting the good fight on your end as well and that's it so yeah i mean i'm kind of curious as to what how how effective that system is says two aims to catch all cheaters. It will come out in time for Vanguard as well as the upcoming Pacific update for war zone and is being advertised as a colonel level driver that will not interfere with the rest of your processes on PC. Although the driver isn't coming to consoles right now, console players will still stand to benefit as the driver will check software in other applications that attempt to interact and manipulate wars on PCs, meaning cross play console players will have a distinct benefit to it. "Check out what happened. Today between poland against england finished one apiece. england opened the scoring some style. Brilliant goal from harry kane but a late equaliser Poland means that england's perfect record in qualifying as now. Broken now still qualify. Though they any problem have just dropped two points. So far in the opening six matches point nine for poland. They'll fancy their chances now. Moving up into second. That one point adrift of albanian. Thrash san marino. Five mil deja craig. "He is Buck Sexton. We are rolling through the Tuesday edition of the program. Buck. I talked about this a little bit yesterday, but I got to get your reaction to this story as well. So Rolling Stone published a story That I've ever met in was causing the use of Ivor Mactan was causing an Oklahoma hospital to have to refuse service to people who were gunshot victims. There were massive lines in the nursing home, nursing him in the emergency room, and that as a result of Ivor met in this hospital was basically having to shut down its emergency room because they were overflowed. With ivermectin patients. Everyone jumps on board this report. It is ricocheted throughout Twitter. The Rachel Maddow was of the world literally. Rachel Maddow herself share this story. The usual suspects all shared. It's based on one doctor. Well, finally, somebody reaches out to the hospital itself. It turns out the doctor hadn't been at the hospital in a couple of months, and they had had no issues whatsoever with Ivor Mukden of any degree. That means the story. The Rolling Stone story Buck was 100% fake news to use a trump phrase and was not in any way based in factual legitimacy. It was 100% not true. Does Twitter do anything with it? Does anybody like require that any of these tweets receive any kind of statement? As urine Minds tweets often do anytime we say. Hey, you know, like here's the latest data says, Click here for Covid, You know, vaccination information. Alex Berenson loses his ability to post on Twitter. Yet this story trends everywhere. And there are no consequences for the people who spread 100% fake news to observations about this class all this story over the weekend as I was Think it's a vacation. Thank you for being at the helm yesterday, so I can actually get a day off. Uh, one of them. Is that the the people who run with this stuff? Don't care when it's fake, meaning that this is just like Russia collusion. This is the media environment worrying. Now you show your side how much you hate the other side and you take a cheap shot at them. And you are rewarded with more viewers. More money more following. That's how left wing corporate media works today. That's the situation. Look at Rachel Maddow $30 million. She's going to get paid under a new contract to not even laughter do not evenly work. And after just lying about Russia collusion for four years to audience, it didn't matter. The point was she was feeding. She was feeding the loony left what they wanted, and they loved her for it, And it's the same thing with this Rolling stone. They have no credibility to protect at Rolling Stone. These journalistic enterprises aren't serious in being unbiased and about the facts, But there's another part of this that I found really bothers him. And you're seeing this all over the place now to Yeah, sure they want to. They want to do this. They'll lie about it. Don't feel good lying about it. But oh, look at these rubes. Look at these fools who probably voted for Trump who are taking I've ERM acted and all this stuff. That's not even enough for them the lie about it, and then they'll pile on top of that. There are a danger to you crazy Libs sitting at home with your three masks on while you're taking a shower to you people sitting in, you know Santa Monica or in Brooklyn who watch MSNBC. They're taking up all the hospital beds for the gunshot victims in the car accident victims. So it's not even enough to lie about them being dumb by saying there's all these overdoses happening, they lie about them being an actual menace to public safety Clay because that's really what the left wing audience wants to hear. Now. It's not even all these people who won't do what Fauci says are endangering themselves. No, it has to be there, endangering Everybody and the lie to make people think that and It is just whiled to me and I would think, Alex Berenson said. You know, he's figuring out his legal responses here. But to me and again, this is me thinking about it from a legal perspective. If Twitter is going to argue that they are trying to apply editorial fact checking functions to their service. This is a wildly arbitrary and capricious policy that you can point to this story because, remember, there's a big difference like you and I every single day share a variety of opinions. It's often times very hard to prove that an opinion is wrong because it's just that it's an opinion as opposed to effect which you can prove whether or not a fact is wrong or right. This story that Rolling Stone published the facts are lies. It is 100%. Not real. It's fake news to use the trump term and yet There's no requirement that Rachel Maddow, I'll take it down. There's no requirement that all these MSNBC employees buck who otherwise are able to share stories, you know for you and me and Alex, Barents and anybody who shares facts like data out of Israel or data about the vaccine that makes people uncomfortable. We're not allowed to do that. But they're allowed to share a story that is 100% false. Remember when People were supposed to be all freaked out. It's It's almost like clay. There are propaganda, uh, loops that we're all in here because as I'm seeing this and to your point about how this is fake news, it's not only fake. It's obviously fake, demonstrably and provably false, but But even beyond that, though, when someone hears this it doesn't ring true to any reasonable person. Really. The hospitals are old people are or that or that dumb that there are thousands of them who are dying from Oprah. Not even remember. They're not taking Ivor Mactan and getting sick. They're overdosing on like, you know, it's one thing If you want to try a drug that's you know, off label, but his FDA cleared or something, right? I mean, this would be like saying, Oh, I think that Tylenol would be helpful for people that have, like I had a lot of back pain from Covid. For whatever reason. Okay, if I down the whole bottle of Tylenol, that's on me. That's not on. You know, Bayer or whether the manufacturer of tired, all right, so also it doesn't there ever been any hospital that isn't able to treat gunshot victims? Have you ever heard somebody like showing up? Hospital with a gunshot wound. They're like, Hey, we can't get to you right now. But it doesn't even sound plausible and they ran with it. It's more. It's not even just cherry picking facts or not looking at data. It's an obvious lie, but it was a delicious life for the left. They ran with it. It just reminds me. Of this back in the day when we had people talking about the member this the the potential benefits of, uh of hydroxychloroquine, right, and and then there was a A version of it was it was not hydroxychloroquine something. It was like a different kind of chloroquine that is used to clean fish tanks. And there was this whole thing about someone took Someone took fish tank cleaner, And this was supposed to be blamed on trips like if you can't tell the difference between hydroxychloroquine and what's used to clean a fish tank like that's on you, but that also was a stupid lie. That wasn't a thing that was really happening. People weren't overdosing on, you know on Clark when fish tank cleaner all over the country. But they keep doing this because it's essential to them Clay to believe that people who disagree with them are so dumb that they don't even have to be listened to or thought about. I think that's exactly right. And it also all it's like mad Libs version of a story. If a story perfectly fits your version of the world, it's It's kind of like the, uh, Jesse Small that case, Buck where it's like that was so perfect if it actually happened. It's like a fever. Dream of a left winger. Right? Somebody in a mog a hat, uh, chase down a gay black man with a noose in Chicago. And said, Hey, we're doing this to you because we're big Trump supporters. It's like, Hey, wait a minute. Oklahoma Red State. I've ERM acting dumb red state people. Can't even treat gunshot victims like when you see all the fact patterns winding up, and it would be like the fever dream of a political party to have it occur. Your initial response. If you have a functional brain should be skepticism, right? That's just what it naturally should be. Especially on the Internet where you have to question whether anything is true or false, right. I also so much fake falsehood out there. I think, at some level to people like Rachel Maddow Not only is it professionally beneficial to her, I mean, not like she really needs the money anymore. But you know, people, even rich people like money. Uh, sometimes they're like it a whole lot more than they should. But it benefits her professional. But Clay also think there's some joy that the liberal elites get over promoting stories like this that are such a.

"Yeah. Oh, that's funny. Hey, I forgot the pizza shirt shows got the register. If you look hard enough, I'm sure. You'll see Joe. Sure, you know, at some point right? Alex verduzco were 99.9. Bob To share Roman retains of edge. Can't beat him with which other wrestlers, currently built strong, enough to beat Roman. I can't think of anyone. Are we back to separate SmackDown and Raw podcast or is this just a one-off to celebrate crowds coming back? Just so you're a little, a little zombie shut, your mouth? No, we're not going to do some act in every week, but many be, I didn't know you wanted to do a Smackdown podcast by yourself off, but maybe, I don't know. We'll see. Like, certainly not every fucking week, but maybe before the pay-per-views. We'll see how, you know, maybe it's possible. But yeah, that is zoom off for fan questions. Yeah, so it is time for money in the bank prediction. Here we go. Trying to get my title back, and I've got some crazy shit on here. Well, good job. I'm glad. All right, first, we have the smackdown Tag Team Championships, Raymond, domenech Mysterio versus The Usos. I've got the Usos. I also have the Usos a job. So page it shows. Yeah, J pins. R a j pins. Maybe I got styles of them. Mosques I got a j pinning. Eric I've got a j pinning Ivar. I've got I've our page aging and how many people interfere 0-0 raw Women's Championship Rhea Ripley vs. Charlotte Flair. I've got Charlotte Flair, I've got flare a flare off. Flare sweep pin submission. What do you got going with pin on this one? I'm going to be another DQ I'm dealing with other. You gonna DQ? Yeah. Another one. I'm going to say pin. I think she wins it here. Yeah. How many people? Interfere 000 and does the winner get cashed in on? No, no they knew Universal chip. You're doing with paint on that. Yeah, yeah. She does a great. Maybe she doesn't, she it's natural selection, okay? Or Ripley wins? Then I get two points for the pin Charter. Probably rolls her up. Yeah, maybe Universal Championship, Roman Reigns vs. Edge. If you pick Edge and you get it right, you get to win the whole title. Anyone any takers? No. Oh no, of course not Roman Reigns all across the board or yep. What do you got submission pin? Goes off sub. How many people interfere one? I went one. One of the uses just one job. I got both Usos, okay, and does the winner. Get cashed in on, oh God, no, no job. New then we got the w e Championship Bobby Lashley versus Kofi. Kingston anyone have the balls actually? I've got Lashley. No balls Lashley across. We'd none of our balls up in submission other Sub sub submission. How many people interfere one to I have to as well and does the winner get cashed in on? No, no. I'm I'm going to say yes for the hell of it. Okay. Just for the fun of it. Sure. All right, then we got the women's money in the bank. We got silly navega. Oscar Naomi, Alexa Bliss. Nikki. Ash Liv Morgan tell you, n sameena, pretty. Got I've got live, I'm going with my heart. I must a clue stick with live. I looked at their names. I'm like, who else would win this? Yeah. Oh God. No, not again. Salinas to Quick back and they've already buried her Natalia to me. It's the only, it can only Nicky's. The only other name, I could see. Winning this thing was, but right, if it's gotta be dead. Yes, is her moment don't fuck this shit up, right? Don't fuck this up. I won't forgive you, right? How many people interfere 0-0 first jump off a ladder. Nikki Vega. I got Nikita, she's doing the superhero thing. Yeah. Does anyone hang from the case? Yeah, no, or any other weapons used? Sure, I'm going to say no. On this one. I'm going to say, no, as well good. I got the men's money in the bank. Kevin Owens Drew McIntyre, riddle, Ricochet Johnny, drip, drip biggie King Nakamura and Seth Rollins like they're okay. If Heaven's one, I wouldn't be surprised Drew McIntyre even riddle. I wouldn't be that surprised like the only. Well, three, I couldn't see Ricochet Morrison or Nakamura winning know. But any the other Five Guys? For sure? I would be shocked know. Yeah, you guys got I got biggie. Dammit, I also have Biggie Biggie. Okay, okay, yeah. How many people interfere? I don't know, I gotta read my, I got home and just one who's your one. Boobs boobs, Randy Orton, Debbie, great interesting summer. I also think there's a chance, I don't know. Well, I'll talk about this later but no later. First to jump off a ladder Morrison Ricochet. Sure I got Ricochet. Does anyone hang from the case? No, yes I got. No, I don't think they they don't take off. Yeah cuz now everything's of coat. Hanger ricochets you know fifty pounds. Don't even know if I should put it on here anymore, right. And the other weapons used to say yes here, I'm going to say stick with no and then. Does Randy Orton, help or harm riddle, if are only two options are those I'll say harm, unless they harm you could say, doesn't show For two. You want to say? No show you put no show. I don't think he shows you put harm. Eric. Yeah, Joey put help. I put harm if it harms a synchronous. Yeah, but help. Okay. I think he tries to help them and then just put you on a stick with those still doesn't work. And then like on Raw riddles like you do care about me your tag test out, awful. Well so it probably happened. Yeah, but the moment of him trying to help him would be not bad. Yeah. All right. Surprise appearance. There are so many choices. So many, so many choices. Yeah, who do you guys have? I have Sasha Banks. Okay. Yeah. I put Lesnar. I know it's not Brock Lesnar. Sasha was actually originally advertised for this show. Who cares? That's true. Yeah. So I guess it doesn't count if she shows a card off. I have Becky Lynch. I think she comes out after flare. Wins the title, okay, you know. Right? So the first time Jefferson lab. Yeah. Good trust. How many miles? How many miles or tables are broken? I got one one. I was think there's a chance like Bray Wyatt comes out and costs long live, the money. The bank, like just distracts or something. I'm Alexis are? Yeah, you have one and then my Summers. Yeah. I mean, I'm hoping there's more announce tables now that we're back, but we'll see. I got to Breaking. Okay. What's the Opening match? Pre-show doesn't count women's money in the bank. Same sweep it. Yeah. What's the main event at versus Roman bath? I put the men's, I know sometimes they don't do that. So you think it's going to be a cash campus? I don't think they're going to cash it in, so I think they put the men's last. Yeah, I've never rains Edge. I think there's a, you know, the fan theory that I've liked the most, and I would love if it happened, is if Kofi beat slash Li then right after that biggie, who won Money in the Bank earlier, Cashes in, on Kofi turns heel, right. Awesome. Be amazing. And then they have a triple threat at SummerSlam. Ya, Kofi Biggie and woods. Yeah, the other each other. Oh, sorry, Goldberg's. Going to ruin every month. Always, hey Jericho and Kevin Owens were going to Main Event. WrestleMania Jericho is going to win the rumble enter.

"Show up, they squirt them with the drip sticks down. They run over riddles foot with mrs. Wheelchair. And we get another close-up of man foot like a close-up. Yeah, the cameras. Like right, right, right there. Right in the tub. Yeah. One week. They're just going to pan out from the foot like it's just going to be Darkness but then they're going to pan out. You're just going to see. Oh they're going to make it look like like like like right here off. So like who's cleavages? Oh I hate my life. There's going to be like a assuming it's going to be like a toast smudge. On the lens that you're going to. Oh God, it's terrible. Sad, is a club. Is that the ones? It's a man foot just throw up instantly and then just like Alistair. Yeah, yeah galleries my own eyes out. Yeah. Anyways, Ricochet give Morrison a 450 Splash. Test from the barricade to the floor. Yeah, they fought in the gorilla position for a little bit, you know, this was a fun match. Yeah, Ms. Squirted Ricochet again, so riddled Hardin. Well, he did little scooter doubt. He grabbed mrs. Wheelchair, put his on his back, and then he squirted all over his face, busted. I mean, and then, in the end, there was a ladder going from The Ring to the announce table and Ricochet splashed onto Morrison from the top rope my God, they went through the ladder and Ricochet got the win, Mister given Ricochet some W's. Yeah, I mean he's in the money, the Bank match. So at least he has that ought to do something crazy though. The North American man, she was sane. Yeah, next up we have real Ripley versus Natalya. Why you asked? Oh, I don't know, then they fought before, I'm sure they have that six. Yeah. Yep. Backstage. The Italians Amina, have another confrontation with Mandy and Dana and Tamina pushes Dana into a wall and that's it. That's it. Thanks for that. Thanks wage. Moving on and then reboots Natalia with the riptide and then Charlotte chop blocks Ripley after the match and locks in the figure four with Charlotte hanging out of the ring..

"Like, what? An upset wide enough said yeah which it kinda is. I mean Lucha house party have way more wins than restoration. Way more hundred maybe it's just next up. We have entering promo from Seamus. He talks trash about Ricochet and Alberto Carrillo and says he'll face both of them back-to-back so he does. First we have Sheamus versus Ricochet wage Thank you. Yes. And what is with Ricochet wrestling in street clothes, now, he, he can't afford tights anymore. No, I did. Because he looks like a kid in life. Jam has many, where's yeah, is this gimmick that he doesn't wear his ring gear because he never expects to be booked on Raw. That could be it too Underoos. Yeah. Yeah. So Umberto Runs Out does not match you distract Seamus and then Ricochet wins with a roll up and blue. And I believe he lost his title, just like crazy. Now anyways, the next step we have Sheamus versus Alberto. Carrillo Carrillo accidentally, stiffed shit. What what are you doing? They're going. Keep going to snow. Ki kariye KI kariye. Naino least if Seamus right in the nose, with a forearm, like a real punch. And there was lots of blood Shamus, still finished the match Ricochet distracted, Seamus, and then Korea, one with a roll off, Pay me. Well, no, you just said Ricochet money title, right? You said, Ricochet. I was in Idle, Man. Oh, this was you can't chew. You can't. I can't be off. Twice, how much was it for a dollar so it wasn't a title match. This close to having $3. Yeah. That bed over money. You make another curio bet. I'm sure I do us Championship. What's the point of that Championship? What is the real point of having that title America defended on television fended off on television? The champion. Loses twice. Retains his title. Yeah, you know, you know, when was famous his last us title, defense breakfast menu, you'll know he didn't even defend it, he wanted their right. Yeah so he hasn't would it be riddle you meet right off as soon he had like an open challenge every single week. It's Thursday. Anybody ever? Yeah. So he hasn't defended it. He hasn't even defended at WrestleMania backlash, right? Right. He fought Ricochet pretty shown Untitled. He hasn't defended the title. That's defended every week. We have another Eva Marie coming soon promo. This time. What you doing this? She's actually training in a wrestling ring. Oh, good for her. Yeah, me too and she said that she had to leave WWE in order to find herself which makes sense. Cuz she was never able to compete. That sometimes she was lost in traffic. So lost her top. Yes. And then pretty sure she found herself on a rich old Billionaire's yacht every week of June. Coast of Florida. Yes, you find yourself there? Yes, on your horse occasions. Welcome back. Yeah, Peach. I love. When like yeah, even real, like something in the screen was like, you know, working hard. I worked so hard. It's like, you don't have a job, right? Or if you literally work out, you don't have running Instagram. Yeah this is Eeveelution. You ready? No no not at all. No one is, you know. Should they be next up? We have Naomi Lana vs. Mandy Rose and Dana Brooke with the Italian song on commentary. Mandy and Dana have no chemistry. Nothing tag team know. The only thing that they have going for them is they're both blond. That's right. Mandy put Lana on our shoulders and then Dana jumped off the second rope cuz they were going to go for a Samoan drop neckbreaker combo, but David jumps lands on her back home and then Mandy, okay. And does the Samoan drop after it's like yeah like a whole half a second after Dana already landed. Yeah. And then Dana pins Lana for the win and they act as if they just did something cool. Right? It was awful. Oh boy, awfulness so I guess they're going to get a title shot and and then lose and again off. Who cares never were complaining cuz like Nia Jackson Samina run every Shana Shana. Not in right now, it's Natalia. Yeah, I mean, to me, it's Joe, every ship. Can we get some other belts that can cross Brands? Be on both shows, like the 24 set. Shut the fuk up. Go back to sit the fuk down right. Shut up. My mistake. We're off again has and it's it's stills out, right? At least till the right or did Arsenal win it back on Snapchat or some bullshit, right? Got it back in a Burger King commercial over their Instagram story and what it's right. Technically, Rick boost is a former 24/7 chip, right? Not loading. You know, I think that does hours now, the longest reigning 20% of all time. Oh, cuz our truth was gone for a long time. Yeah. Truth was gone for like a whole month but every time he was gone for a month, maybe the biggest social media, I think it's Gronk actually. Oh it probably is. Yeah yeah that's probably right yeah. So next thing we have Shelton Benjamin versus Cedric, Alexander, how many packs? This is like part seven. How many times does the rubber match, guys? 21 one one, each the 7th matches. Now rubber one. Thankfully, this batch only lasted thirty seconds as Cedric poke Shelton in the eye and hits the neuralizer for the wind, which is exactly what he did last week at least it was quick. Oh yeah. So that's a double again, I guess kind of you to again, that's right. Yeah. Next up. We have lies in Jackson, Ryker versus AJ Styles and Oma's for the raw tag title. Again, this is a half of it again. No problem. They fought around. Oh, yeah. Yeah. I mean, they've had one of them to having the first time was a tag team like it was. Then Styles had a couple of one-on-one matches. So, yeah, probably you really taking some liberties with that. Again, count aren't you, I've only added one, extra litter from Red Dead. And we're at 8. So styles are no mas come out to the ring without the belts. Sure. But then after the commercial break, we see the ref, hold up the belt that they forget off. They're fucking belt. I mean, they, they haven't defended. This is our first time, I guess they probably fucking forgot. They were tag Champs, right? That's right. Where the title. So, Ryker reaches, for at a young age, but Elias jumps off the apron and betrays him. WWE also forgot who the raw tag Champs are. So that's right, sales, taxes and biggest word we've seen in twenty Twenty-One years, right? Styles tags in Tomas and he punishes Ryker as Elias watches from the stage AJ hits the phenomenal, forearm on record for the wind later. Elias tells Kevin Patrick that Jack record didn't help him last week and he's too unpredictable. He also says they're going back on tour soon and the thought of riding in the car with Riker makes him sick. It's like that. Yeah. Oh boy. So so that's what are the odds that Elias gets released before just and running? Yeah, I know is Rikers big push because they already gave away his life is gimmick. They did. Yeah, with an electric guitar, which is always cooler. Yep. Yeah next up we have a Lexus playground her guests.

"A player down for Green Bay, Chris Barnes for a second time the rookie linebacker for the Packers being assisted to on the field. Talk about Leonard for Ned and you were so right. He's got really, really good feet for a big guy. And so it takes him a while to get going and get up to full speed, But he's really good in those little pockets. In between the tackles of chopping those feet being able to bounce one side or another and run through some of those tackles. You know, there have been two playoff games at Lambeau Field, where quarterbacks enshrined in the pro football Hall of Things started against each other. Bart Starr against Y A. Tittle in December of 61 Red Farm again, Steve Young January of 97. And then today, Brady against Rogers, both three touchdown passes. Second down five. Brady under center flag thrown for net over the guard to the 30 Make it 29 picks up three. Flags on the field in all quadrants far sideline. Deep by the goal line, and I'm the near side line of the 20. So they're gonna be 12 men on the field, trying toe. Substituted the last man defense. Five yard penalty, which is enough for a first down. The last minute to packers came running on and a big guy had to try to run off easy first down there for the Bucks just can't make those kind of missed aches. This crucial juncture of this game first playoff meeting ever fourth all time. Rogers and Tom Brady never met in the playoffs. Three previous meetings in the regular season. That's the first penalty it's against the Packers. So it's a first intend for Tom Brady wasn't the Green Day 27. Shotgun snap. "I don't think we'll see a jackhammer. I do not work predict. I will bet my house dog. Don't see a jackhammer unless they can they just pre-tape it we've talked about I think we talked about that last year because he was fighting Braun and they're like, what if they just put brought on wires cinematic? I will also bet Andrews house that we won't see a jackhammer. Now, I'm not going to bet that they won't try a jacket, but we definitely won't see a jackhammer. They've learned their lesson now, cuz they tried it on there and take her didn't work tryed on the fiend didn't work. And then after that like he beat Ziegler didn't even try it like even did he do it too singular. I don't remember like even Sigler who could just do a job. Himself, like let me just do a handstand on you just stand there. Yeah, no move. But like I remember the last couple Goldberg matches. They didn't even try it cuz they knew we couldn't fucking do right, but he obviously did not to do it to Braun know, you know, so yeah just and you have to put the house on the table or use my house twice. Yeah, right. Yes off next time. We have Mandy Rose and Shayna baszler with Dana Brooke ringside and Nia Jackson commentary backstage before the match saying that says I'm in the Royal Rumble match and I'll throw every woman out of the ring even my tag team partner and I was like what the fuc ask for the match Shana does her stomp on Mandy's arm, which used to put someone out for like weeks months. Yes this time. Mandy sells it for 3 seconds. Yeah, and she's fine man. Roster magic. She's totally right right. Mandy makes a comeback tries a kick hip hop dong. Fails the kept up. So it was awful. Just don't do it. Hey, you can't do it. You don't do it. She got the camp. She failed on the look. I know whether it's more of a nip up really. I've tried to go in the ring and failed. Yeah on a comedy wrestling show you don't try it. Unless you've done it a hundred times maybe like, I think I'm going to try something new tonight. Yeah on live TV, I could do it like two out of every thirty times as night close down and enter defense dad asked you big baby. Maybe that has two big. Yeah, it's okay. Is that a long anyways in the end Shana makes Mandy tap to the cure for the clutch after the match 9 and Schoenherr yell at each other but then Dana jumps off the apron and dropkicks Nya into Shana after the break night and Shayna are arguing backstage crew. So walks up and asked about them not getting along but they say we never got along and then they announced that they want to rematch for the tag titles. Who cares right? Cuz they suck. Get along which it's funny cuz Oscar and Charlotte are the Tag Champs. You wouldn't know it cuz they not in any segments together or in any tag matches together when Charlotte came out with the title of the first my first one second thought was what what did she win? What what does she have right now? Yeah. Oh right the texture by the way, this would be good. Trivia wins. Like how many days has it been since Oscar defended our title someone posted on Twitter? I don't know that it's 100% true, but it's believable cuz she hasn't defended in a while. Just throw out a number. For months now, it's not that long but like 70 days 55 days. Like that's you know, it's long time. Yeah still months. So the next step we have Ricochet vs. AJ Styles backstage before the match Adam Pearce tells Ricochet, you know, I'm looking at you for an opportunity to be a part of the Royal Rumble match your match tonight. It's perfect timing because win can go a long way to get you to that opportunity. Imagine the ring announcer. The following match is scheduled for one fall and it is for a possible opportunity to be in the Royal Rumble. Maybe Royal Rumble Match Match, maybe sorry, you know, this is 30 guy IMAX. Tell them. Yeah, took him Thirty guys. Not ten guys are four guys. Yeah. Thirty men have to be in this match. Yes. Can everyone qualify? Oh my God. Say Royal Rumble Match send in Lars. Does that mean I can be in no, no, it'll be a dark match. Only the first Thunder. Yeah, it's an event stay tuned for a large Sullivan match after the tone. No, that's okay. They'll just leave. Yeah, I'm good. No, right. So AJ Styles an illness walk up and styles makes fun of Piers for backing out of his match against rains a nice steak Ricochet. He's going to lose tonight and he's going to get embarrassed but at least he'll have his dignity and then Ricochet says no Ricochet loses his dignity right here. He says AJ sounds like you have selective memory, you know like Drew Barrymore in 50 First Dates, you know that movie friend, you know now like 2004. I was in high school high school. Ricochet then goes on to describe the plot of 50 First Dates. He's like, you know the movies you losing memory then the other day with her and he can't remember the game doing that and then movie sucked the month. Is it showing on USA this month or something? They had to plug it I think of what is actually they just hired one of the writers from that. All right, and he's very proud of his movie, right? So it's g l z. I know the movie it's up there with the notebook. It's in my top ten, which that's a funny line. Yes. Thank you for saving a jury. Ricochet reminds AJF is embarrassing loss at TLC and I really thought she was saying, oh you must have selective memory. I thought Ricochet was going to say, oh, did you forget that? I've beaten you before you piece of shit, but of course, that's no longer Cannon, right? That's no longer real cuz that's the package never happened because ricochets now a jobber and how could a job or beat AJ style exactly so we can say then tells AJ you're going to need more than a seven-foot giant to beat me which is not true, New Jersey. Has the ring and then AJ tells Pierce. I don't like you which means almost doesn't like you an enormous gets in Pierce's face and peers to take sash it as for the match ricocheted Dives outside the ring to a jake almost catches them. The ref TL is put him down and almost is like very poor choice of words and then just drops her. Sorry. I'm in I'm in Joker mode now. Yeah, I once I once we open that cap AJ goes really phenomenal Forum but ricocheted counters with the recoil, but he takes too long to go for the pin and AJ kicks out the end of this match was awesome. It was dead again. Like this is not how it shouldn't be how you end a match on Raw. This should be like a pay-per-view or WrestleMania moment. Yes ricocheted goes for like a slingshot so he gets on the top rope, but then a jake them pulls them off throws them back on the top rope and then somehow with magic ricocheted bounces back towards AJ. Ya Aaj catches them and quickly hits him with the styles flashforge. Yeah, I was so fuck Michael that was shaped bounced off the ropes with his stomach stomach is a stomach is AJ Styles has been WWE. He's he's had like some of the greatest finishes for matching. He has like the even beating Nakamura at WrestleMania. Yeah where he goes to the Kinshasa and immediately counters with the like so many awesome counters with the Styles Clash, right? You know, just really cool shity. Just called the phenomenal one for a reason. That's true. Yeah next up. We have the dirt sheet with Ms. Morison. All right. Skip this the introduced Goldberg. Yeah, but instead it's gillberg know which is way better and I love it. Took the guys with the sparkler. Yes, and the the guy with the fire hydrant 16 botched cuz Gilbert comes out. They got the sparklers and then Goldberg standing there waiting for the fire the fire extinguisher.

"Right and whether you know this was entirely his idea or whether this idea was pitched to him and he's the one who got it over but without him all those other guys are floundering and i. I really liked his role in the her business. Right now i really. I really thought it was going to go. Like lashley holds the title. Mvp holds the united states of the other to hold the tag titles. But i kind of like the fact that he's got that old school bobby heenan role where like basically their manager. He makes their business decisions in does that but if he needs to step into the ring he can and i mean the guy just a golden brazilian jujitsu. So it's not like he's a slug in the ring either. He's just a little bit older. No we need it. So we're talking about the top people twenty twenty and there's not too many people that have had a better year notably ben. Mvp because he he he. He's had good matches. He's made everybody that he's worked with. Look like a credible threat. And he's gotten not only hurt business over but guys like ricochet had a stock had creative stuck with that storyline. I i think he would have gotten ricochet over. He made apollo apollo crews look credible time in his fucking career on the main roster. So i mean the guy has done a lot for just rest just. Wbz's whole as what he's been able to do onscreen and offscreen getting this all together. So i i think he deserves a high spot on anybody's list. As far as people of top people twenty twenty. Been absolutely to the point. Though that point you take off of your list not alexa. Bliss the port where canada complex me like bliss may is. Yeah because i'm totally. Okay with making your sharma number eleven. We're doing a top ten of the three or more major wrestling companies. Both men and women like it's not all going to add up especially when you're going on an opinion based show so it is. Yeah you're at eleven. And i'm sure at eleven i could make a case for why she's at eleven so make case for why alexa bliss number ten because alexa bliss has been the best thing on fucking television. That hasn't been in ring. I don i think she wrestled like four matches. This year. Maybe less but everything she did with nikki cross in the best friends.

Election 2020 Analysis: Bethany Mandel, Ron Kampeas

"Mandel is an editor writer and podcast at ricochet and online hub. For conservative conversation she's also a rising social media star and conservative columnist. Who has garnered quite a bit of attention. In recent months decrying the government overreach of quarantine restrictions and going from being a never trumper in two thousand sixteen to supporting the president's twenty twenty reelection in a recent column in the forward she talks about why pollsters trying to project the election's outcome got it so wrong once again but don't expect this conversation to be a breakdown of methodology and shifting demographics. Her explanation is much simpler than that and she will explain bethany. Welcome to people of the pot. I think you so much for having me. I'm sorry for the puppy noise. You might hear in the background okay. Now before we begin. I want to remind our listeners. Ajc is a nonpartisan five. Oh one c. Three not for profit entity that neither endorses nor opposes candidates for elective office. So anything i say or ask or challenge really is in pursuit of an explanation. Because i do want our audience to listen so bethany for those who did not read your column. Tell us why. Pollsters predicted a blue wave that we did not see in last week's election so i think that there's going to be a lot of explanations that become clear over the next few months there might be problems with the way that they call people how they call people but i noticed anecdotally and i was saying for months beforehand the most simple explanation for why i thought that it would be extremely close or why the president would garner. Reelection is just because people were lying because they didn't feel comfortable telling the truth and when they would get a call who you voted for from a stranger because you don't actually know who upholstery is. And you can't confirm their identity on the phone When they get a call from pollster hi. I'm just curious for you're voting for. They're not going to tell you on the phone who they're voting for. And in my column i give a story that i thought was really illustrative of my thinking on it coming up prior to the election. Which was i have a. I have a girlfriend who lives in a swing state. i think it's north carolina. And i asked her at the outset of our conversation who e-voting for just sort of in passing and she said. I am still undecided. I don't know what to do and we had a very long conversation. And what we're really talking about was actually. She was doing a conference that got cancelled by a social media. Mob and people were falsely accused of racism. Yada yada and the entire six months of work that she did for the conference just went up in smoke and and it was cancelled and so we were talking about that. And i said this is the kind of stuff that makes people vote for trump. Because he talks about this. Like social media mobs the cancel culture in all these things and i was kind of laughing about how this experience would make her into a trump voter over the course of our conversation. I said yeah. I'm voting for trump this summer on. I never thought i would have done that for years ago. And she was like wait. A second you are and i forgot that. She doesn't follow me on social media. She doesn't know. Sort of where i fall and i said yeah my buddy for trump and she was like oh i am too. I mailed ballots in weeks ago. And she's a friend of mine and we were having an hour long conversation and it was only after i told her that i was voting for president trump that she admitted that she was as well. And so we finished texting. And i looked at my husband and i said the polls were wrong. If this woman who i've known for five years didn't feel comfortable telling me who she was voting for until i told her there's no way we'll no much was made that there were fewer undecided voters in this year's polls but also sounds like what you're saying is that there was even smaller number because those who said they were undecided or at least some of them voted for trump right or they were lying and they said they were voting for biden instead. I i think that that's definitely a possibility as well. Okay now why would they have said president biden. What been the reasoning there. That's the safe answer in this. Cancel culture environment that you know voting for vice. President biden was stackable incorrect dancer. But i think that I think that a lot of people probably unfit apply. I'm curious if you've gotten any feedback from people who read your column and said how dare you call us liars absolutely. Not every single person understood. Even i as someone who works in the media until the eleventh hour did not want to say i was voting for president trump. Because i knew that every time he does something stupid from then on out people with throw that calm back in my face and say this is what you signed on for whatever reality. I'm like. I signed a deal with the devil and i knew i was signing a deal with the devil and i'm not not raw about him. I'm not maga- it's it's an unfortunate situation and it is what it is something that really frustrated me in the wake of biden's election was people sort of saying koumba. Let's all come together and we're were you three years ago. Where were you last year. Why didn't you speak up for the covington. Boys and pete buttigieg was one of the people who was saying it and your staffer. Literally making lists of trump administration employees to blacklist them and to strip them of their livelihood and i think people across the spectrum have different opinions of people who worked in the administration. I know a million of them and they understood the deal that the that the devil that they made to and they were trying to uniformly serve our country and to mediate. Trump's trump. Nece and i think they did a great job and i am appreciative of the work that they did in every single department they worked in and they made it possible for us to come out of the last four years. Fine we're fine as a country and pete bridges people. His former staff are making lists of all of these people and pitas coming out. And saying you know. Let's all come together. I'm like okay. Put your money where your mouth is and publicly denounced what your staff are doing. Where is that being reported. I don't know where it's being reported. It's called the trump accountability project. And if you google it. I'm sure only conservative media are covering it because that's how it is. They had a website called trump accountability project. And it's time for people to put their money where their mouth is a little bit on this and no one is and michelle. Obama tweeted something the other day. That was you know. Half of americans who voted for him are x y. You know the whole litany of and this is not. I don't know how you move forward. When that when the former first lady is impugning the motives of half of the americans that voted for for trump. And you're not. You're not voting for racism. You're not voting for you. Know i think. I think that's a really simplistic way of looking at things. And it's also a really divisive and toxic way and if biden wants to actually move forward in a kun-bae off fashion say something about what michelle obama tweeted now. I want to reiterate what you said at the beginning. Bethany that this is just your theory. it's based on anecdotal evidence. There are many reasons why the polls might not have panned out this year. But let me ask you this. Not all pollsters work for media some work for politicians who are trying to assess what their constituents want. Do you think people understand that. Not being truthful about their preferences might undermine the whole democratic process. Do you believe that so. That's an interesting question. Because in some part it undermines the thesis of my piece because we saw that the internal polling that was done by campaigns was actually far superior to that of the media companies. And i think that people are more apt to trust a cloister that is not in the media because people don't trust the media dot readily and that distrust has been well earned by the media but the internals that we can gather that the biden campaign was getting told them to go to georgia and it seemed like a crazy idea and they were right to do so. So i i think that the internal polls that campaigns had were better than the media hat by. I don't think it undermines the democratic process because is not essential to the democratic process. It just it gives campaigns some idea of where they should be focusing and what their messaging should be but overall the democratic process is completely hinged upon votes. And that's really what counts at the end of the day well bethany. Thank you so much for. Your thoughts really intriguing thoughts. I really appreciate that. And i hope our listeners. Think about it i hope. I hope you've given them food for thought. Thanks

How two promising lawyers found themselves facing life in prison for alleged Molotov cocktail attack during protests in New York

"Rahman Rahman and and Colin Colin Furred. Furred. Mattis Mattis were were kids kids from from immigrant families who made good both graduates of prestigious law schools. She represented tenants in Housing Court. He was an associate at a corporate firm in Manhattan. Now they face life in prison in one of the government's highest profile cases against protesters. Dina Temple Raston of NPR's investigations team reports. The night of May 29th in Brooklyn was chaos as curfew Jew near police in riot gear began to make arrests. Protesters started throwing water bottles and bricks. The NYPD tried to break up the crowd with pepper spray in swinging batons being excessively aggressive with this crowd here, and it is inappropriate. 70 woman Diana purchased and I'm an elected official, and they just pepper sprayed me for no reason. Rouge Rahmon was there to local journalist stopped her for an interview. Her face was covered with the scarf. She was wearing a black T shirt that read. The struggle continues. This protest is a long time coming. I think that the mayor Should have pulled their his police department back. The way that the mayor and Minneapolis But the part of the interview that ricocheted around the Internet was this. Won't ever stop unless we Take it all down. And that's why the anger is being Express tonight. In this way, prosecutors say in NYPD surveillance camera captured images of Rockman a short time later, she was writing in the passenger seat of a van. Her friend Colin for Mattis was driving. What allegedly happened next defense attorney Shipman says is the basis for the charges against them. It's alleges that a rouge threw a Molotov cocktail into a police car and empty police car. Essentially abandoned police car police car that had been previously vandalized. Two police officers were across the street They gave Chase and Rouge and Colin were arrested. The NYPD video apparently shows it all Rothman and that T shirt. Beige van slowing as it neared the police vehicle. The lighting of a toilet paper fuse the arc of a beer bottle as it crashed under the cruiser's dashboard. The whole episode lasted just seconds. Rahman and Mattis now face seven felonies in federal court. The charges include the use of explosives, arson conspiracy, the use of a destructive device, civil disobedience and the use of a destructive device in the furtherance of a crime of violence. This last charge alone, known as 9 24 C of the criminal code carries a mandatory minimum sentence of 30 years in prison. Add that to the other charges against them, and they could face life behind bars. Attorney Paul Shechtman represents a rouge Rockman and he says his client's case has been singled out ever since. It's been taken federally it has been treated with a seriousness. Ah, harshness unlike any I've ever seen. NPR reviewed 47 Molotov cocktail in arson cases filed across the country. That involved the destruction of police property. And this case to which prosecutors added 1/3 person, Rahman Mattis say they don't know is the only instance in which that 30 year mandatory minimum charge appears. Molotov cocktail cases are usually charged his property crimes in state courts. A spokesman for the U. S Attorney's office declined to discuss the case or they're charging decisions. Attorney General William Barr has been saying for weeks that extremists plotted the violence that erupted during the protests. And he said as much to NPR's Steve Inskeep in an interview last week when we arrest people in charge them at this stage anyway. We don't charge them for being a member of Antifa. We charge him for throwing a Molotov cocktail or we charge them for possession of a gun or possession of gasoline and things to make bombs with. Those are the kinds of charges that are filed. And while prosecutors haven't offered any evidence that Rothman and Madison, part of an extremist group You wouldn't know it from the way they were charged. Good afternoon. Your Honor, This is David Kessler. I'm in the U. S attorney in the Eastern District of New York. The harshness and the Rothman and Mattis case went beyond the charges. Prosecutors also fought their release on bail even though it was supported by two different judges. 56 former federal prosecutors found the government's position so alarming. They filed an amicus brief with the court. A panel of judges heard arguments last Tuesday and because of the Corona virus, all this happened over the phone. This is how it began. The District court's order releasing the defendant on bond should be reversed. And when I want to focus on here is the core issue the danger to the community government attorney David Kessler. This is not a case about a youthful indiscretion or crimes passion. It's about a calculated Dangerous crime committed by adults who risked the lives of innocent civilian first responders. Their crime is so serious, Kessler argued. It negates any mitigating factors that came before it. To throw that Molotov cocktail, he said, required essentially a fundamental change in mindset about for them. That's really what the core of the cases, Shenkman told the judges. Thie entire evening was an aberration. Here's their exchange. You can't imagine what a soldering event this arrest was. Mr Shipman. I can imagine how these people did what they're shown on video to have done. I find the whole case unimaginable. But having during that happened once I'm I'm wondering why it is so unimaginable that it wouldn't happen again. I think because that night Wass really unique. It was young people not just used to people out to protest police violence who saw more of it. Right one. Khun lose one sense on an evening like this. That argument appears to have convinced two of the three judges that Rockman and Mattis aren't a danger to the community. The judges said in an opinion yesterday that they agreed with the lower court that the pair could be safely released on bail. Rahman and Mattis were allowed to go home last night. In the months ahead, they have more than just the government charges to fight. They also have to battle the suggestion that they're mixed up in what theater knee general is called. We do not belong to the people who hurt us." | Chanel & Evan

"Evan Rachel Wood and she now Miller are known for delivering searing public testimonies of their personal experiences of sexual assault in two thousand eighteen. Evan Rachel would testify to Congress about her Harrowing Experience. A violent abuse a former partner. She did it to encourage lawmakers to implement the sexual assault survivors bill of rights across the country a couple of years prior Chanel Miller had addressed Stanford student who had sexually assaulted her in court directly. The speech ricocheted around the world. After it was published on Buzzfeed it was read more than eighteen million times on the news outlet and broadcast on CNN and in Congress both testimonies transformed the conversation around sexual assault cases in the US. They Sean a light on how our media an legal systems mistreat misrepresent and mishandled sexual assault survivors in this episode of Dare. I say Chanel and Evan. Rachel would talk about double standards in the Criminal. Justice SYSTEM ABOUT HANDLING TRAUMA ALONGSIDE. Intense public scrutiny. And about the high price that comes with naming your abuser or yourself. Chanel Evan Rachel. Wood are on a quest to make the media the law and society a kinder fair place for survivors of sexual assault. They are women who care. I think one of the scariest parts for me about coming forward with everything was a smear campaign or slander or someone trying to discredit my experience. Because it's very re traumatizing when that happens and I think because of experience while the abuse was happening in the press was so traumatic and no one knew I was being abused but they were calling me a whore and they were calling me crazy and they were calling me names before I'd even said anything and migrate is fear was when I said something all of that was going to repeat itself. I was really scared. I blamed myself because I was misbehaving quote unquote. Because I was doing things I wasn't supposed to. I was inappropriate. I was this I was that but none of that means that I deserved what happened to me and so I think it's important to say I'm not a perfect person. I haven't been a perfect person but no one has been but I know what happened to me and I'm very clear about that and very clear that it wasn't my fault and I'm very still scared to talk about it but I know that it's important because of this idea that you have to be this perfect being. That's never done anything wrong for anybody to take you seriously. Yeah I hate that. Credibility is never a given that it seems like it has to be earned that in order to earn a to prove that we can be level headed and obedient that we can maintain an even temperament even when we have every right to be angry for me throughout the court process. You doing stand up comedy to keep myself alive but I worried that if that got back to the courtroom they could use that against me to say. Look at her experiencing. How can a suffering person beginning up and immersing herself in laughter? That's extremely said to me that we have this expectation of how we must behave that looking like a victim has its own identity in another stunning thing is that. I was able to hide this for the last four and a half years so many of us are master's of concealing are stories much of the time being a victim means appearing completely ordinary. Were so good at pretending like nothing is happening like we can keep moving and functioning without missing a beat. I think every victim as soon as this happens you find ways to assign yourself blame. You can say I was drinking. It was my clothing. I was wearing a t shirt of his favorite band which might have been enticing in. We string them up on a little mobile and we sit beneath them and we watch it and we let it consume US and road us and meanwhile we don't assign blame to the source. We keep saying or assuming that you should be reacting a certain way even after an assault people think they would react differently in that situation or they don't understand why you wouldn't call somebody right away or why you wouldn't do you know in my case. The statue of limitations had run on my case I. I didn't report in time and a lot of people are very confused by how that could possibly be. You should go to the police right away but people just don't understand the process that you have to go through the fear that you have to go through the trauma that you have to work through. You know a lot of the times after a bodily violation victims may turn to toxic sex or drinking even more. Because you already feel like you've been deemed worthless or you feel like there are things inside you that you cannot tolerate in the only answer is to vanquish them or to punish yourself or to obliterate them in any way that you can and it's infuriating that we use that behavior as further proof that this is why she deserved it. We point to it and say we'll see. This is the kind of girl who happens to when really the root of it is. The violence itself is not her. Flaws is not her misguided judgment. It's the violence that prompts this behavior and we have to acknowledge that both Chanel and Evan Rachel. Wood are committed to using their platform in privilege to fight for the rights of sexual assault survivors. Snell's memoir was published in the fall. It advocates for more sympathetic response to cases of sexual violence. Evan Rachel Wood has just wrapped up a you. Long fights improve the sexual assault law in California. Thanks to her campaign. The state has officially extended the state statute of limitations on domestic violence cases survivors. Now have a five year window to report abuse to the police. This law is called the Phoenix Act after the mythical animal that rises from the ashes of its predecessor.

When Healthy Eating Goes Too Far

"Going Vegan Veggie. You simply eating more veggies can all be healthy lifestyle choices but if doing so gives you. Zayed he about hanging out with friends makes you fear certain foods. It can actually be quite dangerous because yes being to healthy can actually be unhealthy for some restrictive. Eating is a short live stage that ricochets into a junk food rebellion for others. They find their way back to the middle of the road. But for some money the so called healthy way of eating can become a true obsession and at its most extreme. An eating disorder known as author. Xia this week's food for thought explores when healthy becomes unhealthy with Dr Nikki Stump Surgeon TV presenter and author of pretty unhealthy. Helen Nikki. Hi Thank you for having me. Really Nice debate here per exciting. I am beyond excited. I think since receiving your book getting to read it in being completely inspired and upset fully instagram Graham Wall. And just seeing what you've been getting up to you it's a pleasure to have you in the. Uk's at thank he owner thank you. I think we'll start with whether someone who's we'll go right him. Web someone's been diagnosed with an each use solder or slightly lesser degree. All serve preoccupation of being unhealthy. One is that unhealthy the occupation of being too healthy. Yeah I think that's a really good question because I think you've kind of alluded to it. Then you in in that question that use. You're walking a fine line. It's it's It's very easy to step from one thing to something that is is not so great for you. So you know. It's reasonable to be conscious and observant. About what you ate and making sure that you're exercising not smoking and drinking and all those kinds of things that's important but then when you get really caught up in it to a point where it is impacting your mental health. Your physical health. Your social well-being forget about that. A Lot. That's why. I think we start to get into territory where you are you looking at something. That's possibly not that good for you. You'll completely right the so many factors involved. I think for anyone to just identify acknowledging themselves. I'm not quite happy right. Now is quite a big step because often people in this country. We still have a thing as what at the moment weight is often seen as such a defining health. I don't know what your thoughts are. Matt Yeah I think white is is not going anywhere as as something that people Reach full particularly In an instant to to make a judgment about their own health or somebody else's health but it's really just not that simple econ deny that in some situations in some circumstances. Some people yes. Your weight is a factor in that can be at either end as well But I think that to look at someone and say Oh look at yourself and say I'm unhealthy because of I figure on the Sky Oh That's not rise. It doesn't really have have the support that we think it does. Yeah I think so. We use Via Mind it. It's so tricky because I got a lot of clients coming in clinic saying all the doctors told me. I'm just above the BMI. Actually have any health problems yeah so I mean BMI. I think is rightly criticised and analyze. And I think that if you're applying it to an individual it's a tool that has very little use if you're applying it to screen someone so looking for problem if you're applying it to perhaps population level or re as a research tool that has validity. But you know I think one of the things that people don't always understand about science and research and medicine and so on and so forth is that you know our tools always in perfect and one of the things that makes perfect is the way that we use them. So if we use be my willy nilly then yeah it's not. It wasn't designed for If we use it to look at an individual in front of us and decide if they're healthy that's wrong but if you're using it for the things that's been designed for it has some Information giving capability. And that's where we need to be using it I completely agree. It's just a wider understanding because things can be taken so literally all the time. Want to believe in one number having the solution or absolutely everything without simple you can be over way to be very fit. Yeah absolutely I you know. One of the things that is important in your health is not necessarily that defined. Yes Oh no I'm I'm above or below a number It's actually what you do and we know in particularly for women that no mash. They're they're they're white so their their body composition that if they live a healthy lifestyles in they take all the boxes for nutrition darn smart etcetera that they have a very significant health benefit. So I I'm I've really moved away from from that kind of thinking that you know. We have to get you to a low beam. I will take into account solely secretly with my patients. I'm very focused on what they're doing. Now I'm just trying to get them to to be. Active for example is is just one simple thing that's so refreshing into comfortable adult as well because this is something that unfortunately we see such a lot of this country because medics in this country. Don't get enough nutritional education. Yeah lifestyle education and to hear you say that is wonderful. Yeah even with that in mind. I'm just one piece of the puzzle. You know so if I identify that someone Is is needing some help. With what eat or exercise you reach for your for your experts. Now I'm sure like like the NHL. We're pretty eater stretched with results. So you know. It's not always easy to do that. And I. I think that doctors should be able to give out the basics just like You know my allied health colleagues give out the basics of what I do as well you know. We all work in this together by. I think it is time to to sort of change up our thinking and the way we give advice across the board. Yeah completely. I think is often a misconception. As well that it's all about overeating Ashley. You can be overweight and be quite malnourished as well. Connie that for me. I don't think people realize no and I think the way to to look at this is to Magin if you are overweight and you your diet consists less assay solely of takeout food so that that's all you rating by doing that by eating that very Calorie dense food You are unfortunately missing out on a lot of nutrients So for example you know are based on our. That's a word that is very loaded by mere medically speaking someone who paps has a extra white in the medical complications of it they can be still lacking in in Macronutrients. They can still be lacking micronutrients. you know so. It's not that straightforward to say to say that all that they're very well nourished nor that actually might not be exactly. You can be both ends of the spectrum I said and be completely malnourished. Do you see this getting worse and Western society off. I mean that's sort of what the data suggests you know so if you look at you know. Uk Australia us now. We're all fairly on power. We have pretty similar Spectrum of issues I think health issues and outside of the sphere of food and weight and so on and so forth with pretty similar and I. I do think that that it is the all of these things are increasing And then not just about US eating too much You know all of these choices that we might happen in a system. That is designed to make eight to macho exercise too little. I mean near tobacco. Advertising is literally designed to get. You know it's you know we're not we're not failing ourselves we are filed by system at lodge.

3 Types of Theology

3 Types of Theology

"In church. History there are basically only three types of theology. Well that's what Dr Scroll said. And he went on to identify these three types of theology ass Augustinian Azeem Palladian ISM and semi plagiarism. So what are we talking about here? Well to understand what is at stake here. In this statement of identifying these only types of theology we have to go back to the fore tends and the issue is of course. Agustin's teaching of Adam and Adam's sin in its connection to us and the challenge of that teaching by a monk named Pelagia sees from the British isles but he was rather peripatetic. He made his way to Rome. And then as the visigoths were making their way to Rome he went to Africa and then from everyone even to the Middle East. But we're in the four tens and the issue is that palladium denied the transmission of Adam's sin. He believed that Adam wasn't example for us. But that was the extent of the connection. So we are not born centers in fact we are born with the ability to sin and we were born with the ability to choose God and to assert our will to do good and to be good of course the GUSTON ATTACK. This and he spent much energy in the four. Twenties refuting Jesus and some of his key disciples in four thirty one at the Council of Ephesus Pelagia. Sin His teaching and some of those prominent disciples were condemned. But that is not at all the end of the matter. So what happened next? Well the issue was the degree to which Agustin's refutations of pelagia accepted in other words. Here comes in that third type between a Guston and play. Jesus we have the semi Palladian view and this would go not only through the five hundred but would go right on down even to the present day the allergy. Well when we're talking about the semi Palladian view the issue is what is the full effect of Adamson on humanity. Does Adam leave us sinful but yet the will is still free to choose in the will can. In fact choose it can choose to send or not to sin and it can choose God not God that in a nutshell is semi plagiarism. Now some folks will say well. That's semi Augustinian. Ism Right so the question of is the glass half wars the glass half empty or you might say have. I lost a sock or have I gained despair. But it's that halfway house of not accepting what PELAGIA was up to but not wanting to go fully with what Augusta was saying so. We are right back. Aren't we to the issue of original sin? Well look at this issue. This doctrine of original sin. It has two dimensions. I it has the fall. That is Adam's fall in the garden that historical event or Adam violated God's command plunged himself and all of his posterity into sin and so rigid sin teaches that all of the sons and all of the daughters of Adam and eve that has all of humanity are born with an innate moral corrupt sin nature. They don't become centers when they said they are sinners and because they are centers they in because we are centers. We send an Augusta further concluded that we are dead in thin and so God must work in us. I in order to save us from our sin but again that strikes. Some in many actually as problematic as denying moral accountability is denying responsibility. And so the introduce this idea that the will is free and we have more liberty and we can choose to send or not to send and that is ricocheted through the centuries of the church came up again and the reformation and in the post reformation era so there you have it. The three types of Theology Augustinian ISM salvation is a work of God alone. Plagiarism Salvation is all about human effort. It's the assertion of the human. Will we have the wherewithal to be good and to do good? It SMACK DAB. In the middle is that semi plagiarism. Salvation is cooperative. Work God in Maine working together. Well those are the three types of theology.

Coronavirus Whistleblower Doctor's Death Sparks Anger in China

"Li Wen Liang a thirty three year. Old Doctor in Wuhan died yesterday. He was initially reprimanded for warning about the new corona virus this before he eventually contracted it himself. Are Deputy China Bureau chief. Josh chance has been following the story so Josh can you tell me more about him. How did he see? I come to attention right so Li it was almost totally unknown before. The outbreak happened in Wuhan and he came to attention engine because it emerged that he was one of several doctors who had gotten in trouble early on in the outbreak. Break out before people knew how serious it was for disseminating information about it and he came out and basically revealed that that he had been criticized by his hospital and by the police for talking about this and then was later infected while treating a patient which proved that it had. The virus was transmitted between people. which at the time officials had not yet admitted so he became famous as example of how? Oh the government and the government in Wuhan was not being forthcoming with information. You save famous. What do you mean I will? He did an interview with the Beijing. Can you daily Communist Party run newspaper fairly early on allowed sort of late last month and that blew up because it revealed the efforts to control information or or cover up information about the seriousness of epidemic. When Oliver ricocheted ashamed all over social media and he sort of instantly became this folk hero especially after people realised that he he also himself contracted the virus? What's been the reaction to his death? It's been unbelievable. It's been you know everyone who is on social media in China is talking about this. Hundreds of millions of posts and people are really the sad. They're angry and I haven't really seen anything quite like this. For many many years in China where you have almost everyone sort of united in a single feeling in the sense of frustration and anger like this. And what has the government said in response to this outpouring is so the government response has been a little bit inconsistent and confusing which which is sort of in keeping with their response to the outbreak. In general so late last night state media on twitter the war among the first people do report that Lee had died. they called him a whistle blower And we're sort of honoring him and then and later as it became less clear of whether he had he'd actually died Whether you know when the hospital was saying that they were still trying to save him State media then took out its posts We heard that Propaganda Department in Beijing at order journalists not to report on his death and they were trying to control it. It seems like Lee's death is a catalyst for a lot of frustration that people have in China about the government's government's response to this new corona virus. Is that right. I think that's exactly right. I think Lee has That is really sort of unleashed a lot out of the pent up frustration. That people have felt about the way the government has handled this in particular its lack of transparency in its in its failure would be forthcoming about. Just how how dangerous. This virus was the fact that it was Transmitting between people much earlier than than everyone was aware. And so you know I think eight people feel like the sense of betrayal. You know one of the things. They've been saying online with regard to lease. There's a saying Chinese. You can't let the person who goes out

El Paso shooting suspect charged with capital murder

"And I'm David green in el Paso Texas a normally humming border city that took a severe blow on Saturday with a mass shooting that police are now treating as domestic terrorism in the morning as many parents were shopping for back to school supplies a gunman opened fire at a Walmart killed twenty people he left twenty six injured police believe he is the author of a racist manifesto posted online detailing his reasons for carrying out this attack he has now been charged with capital murder we begin our coverage with journalist Monica or tease or Rebay who is covering the story here in her hometown she joins us here in el Paso and I want to thank you for taking the time and for your work on this you're welcome David I'm what what are you hearing what should we know this Monday morning well we're beginning to know more about the families impacted there's so many heart wrenching stories one of them is a mom who died seemingly shielding her two month old infant from the gunman among the injured or three soccer coaches who were fundraising at the Walmart for their youth team in the hospital lobby yesterday a local pastor Michael Grady he's a former president of the el Paso and double ACP he broke down into tears as he hugged the county judge who was there visiting with the families I'm here today because my daughter Michelle Elise gravy was coming out of Walmart and was shot three times by a madman Michelle just turned thirty three do you live the he laughs Michelle was about to go into her second surgery when her father and I spoke he tells me bullets hit her hand and her back another ricocheted through her pelvis she's the second of three sisters and works helping military vets access there medical benefits he's just a beautiful beautiful a dog and we love her and we're praying again for divine intervention and we're mixing face and medicine together sold its hopefully she will be able to recover well hoping so it's a vision might make it but a lot of families in this position this morning I just wanna orient us like we're we're talking this morning from an upper floor in a hotel in in downtown el Paso which we can see the lights of Mexico from here this is a border community I mean this is a tragedy is affected people in two countries on both sides of the border yes so as of Sunday night Mexican officials announced that seven Mexicans are among the dead I spoke with the brother in law a forty one year old I have in mind sinal who was one of the victims I've been sold medical supplies in neighboring see the point is and he leaves behind a wife and nine year old son and a five year old daughter he's among the many many Mexican shoppers who contribute to the local economy on a daily basis of the Walmart is a quick fifteen minute drive from the border and walking into that store you immediately get a sense of the bilingual bicultural character that is all Paso when the what are we learning about the the shooter here well the suspect is a twenty one year old white male authorities are looking into a manifesto possibly linked to him that indeed expresses anti immigrant sentiments and refers to the quote Hispanic invasion of Texas this man is from a suburb outside Dallas the FBI believes he acted alone and he's currently booked into the county jail without bond facing a charge of capital murder I I know it it has to be an experience took to cover something like this in your hometown you know as we reported here together before on on immigration issues just reflect on this as as a resident of someone who who knows passes so well gosh well I mean I think I'm myself just as much as everyone else is trying to do our best to to hold it together and into our jobs I mean el Paso has had to show a great deal of resiliency lately it's been at the receiving end of thousands of central American migrants are fleeing poverty and violence and by and large the community has responded in the same way to both situations humanely last night el Paso wins gathered for an interface visual the vigil they delivered food and water to one of the ER's treating patients as well as to law enforcement out working the Walmart crime scene since Saturday a local fundraisers razor his raised at least two hundred fifty thousand dollars to aid those impacted by the shooting and in fact that figure is probably a lot higher by now journalist Monica or to use a rebate joining us and passes when Monica thanks for all your work we we really appreciate it sure thing David I want to turn now to the mayor of describing city DiMarco has been the mayor of el Paso for two years after serving the Texas house of representatives and joins us on the line mayor I I know how busy you are we're all thinking about your community right now and thank you for for taking a few minutes for us sure how have you been been spending your time since the tragedy who have you been speaking with and and what can you tell us to give us us some sense of understanding of of what's communities going through well first of all we had a briefing from our a and R. fusion center which is where the police in our office of emerging management monitors things up at the full briefing on on this particular individual who in my estimation is nothing but pure evil and you know on and his Missy there's diatribe related to where we will I've said on number of occasions I was at the interface service last night I was at the hospital yesterday I met the two and a half month old little boy who lost his mother protecting him right and I understand later is also lost his father this is a tragedy that that's just totally unnecessary it will not the final class so we are unique region people cannot understand what our region is BP chief backs shift towards renewable energy

"Choo investor resolutions at BP's annual meeting, and Abidine this week, shade high pressure is building on oil companies to take action on climate change political discusses, how the oil companies are responding with Angela Weaver, and blessing hook. Up already the way. People around the work for her life. At the same time, Harmon emissions need to come out at a much faster pace that is seeking. That more energy emissions dot is to charge. That was Helga loaned, the chairman of BP outlining the company's commitment to transitioning to a low carbon energy system at their AGM in Aberdeen. This week shareholders had to climate change resolutions to vote on an epidemic. Edgeley. You were up there what happened. So everyone was waiting for these two resolutions to come up for debate. Now, one was backed by p and brought forward by climate action. One hundred plus which is an initiative, led by group of investors, and they were calling on BP to demonstrate how its business strategy aligns with the Paris climate goals. And now the second resolution was proposed by follow this dodge shareholder group, and essentially this one was different because not only was it calling on the P to set targets for its carbon emissions going forward. But these targets also should include those of. Of its products, so essentially, the emissions of its consumers, and that's essentially what shall has done. That's what shall has agreed to do. Right. But in this case, BP management back the climate action one hundred plus resolution but not the other one. Why was that BP claims that the follow this resolution would not allow for flexibility through the energy transition? They say we don't know what this energy transition is going to look like we don't want to put hard targets are legally binding on ourselves or on our consumers who's use of our products, we can't control. That's what they say. And does that sound like a reasonable explanation to you? So this is where it gets very interesting because most climate activists and increasing the investors say that these emissions from the use of the products are essential to accounting for how we really progress through this, energy transition and oil and gas. Companies must be held accountable for these emissions now. I do have some sympathy for oil and gas companies in the sense that they don't know what this energy transition looks like, however, most people, I speak to you think that BP right now is in the same position that shell was in a few years ago. And at some point they too would also have to include these emissions in some way into their forward-planning. Leslie, do you have any sympathy with bay pays position. I don't know about sympathy, but I think it is hard to account for the emissions of your consumer. So I can see the sort of legality of that narrow argument. I think what's been really interesting, though, is something that Angela is actually written about, which is where the RND dollars are going for these companies, although BP has started talking a lot more about climate change. And they've certainly made it a sort of headline item on their agenda there. Aren. These spending hasn't really followed. Those words. Yes. Exactly. And even in. The opinion piece that Helgoland wrote in the F T, and in his public comments it a, he's very clear that BP's also going to have to transform its business. But what does this look like it's unbelievably murky, we have no idea is he talking about increasing our independent low-carbon fuels and technologies is he talking about shifting towards renewable? It's not entirely clear. What this means in the BP context, and this is what investors really are trying to gain some more clarity on a lot of these invested discussions with the companies have essentially been company led. It's what the companies are comfortable with talking about BP's, not committing to a particular direction. They say we've been there before, under the John Brown era petroleum beyond petroleum. They invested huge amounts in renewables. And they ended up losing a lot of money. And so this was the point that Helga loons made at the GM, as well as in the opinion piece, which is that we want to be. An investable company and I think that was his way of saying, we need to keep on investing in oil and gas. And there is a real dichotomy there because ultimately BP makes money from selling fossil fuels calls emissions, and they don't really know how they will make money if they stop doing that. So I sort of get the sense that, while there's a lot more talk about it. There's not a clear answer of where revenue is going to come from if they're no longer selling fossil fuels on the other hand, you've got companies like shell and hotel. You know, the really going out there saying, we're investing in not just gasp, renewables and renewable power. And this is all feature. But most analysts who look at the sector and even the executives themselves will say to the margins here, incredibly low compared to is stark and traditional businesses. But also, we don't really know what this is going to look like for us. And this is the point BP's trying to make, which is we're not going to go down that path blindly again. Just taking a punt on the huge amounts of pressure from every. Body in terms of crime activists, and the investors who want this investment into the cleaner fuels business and into renewables. I mean Greenpeace this week, blockaded BP's entrances. I was going to ask you about that it was quite an extraordinary defection even for Greenpeace because they actually stopped staff going into BP headquarters Ryan, where it's quite interesting to compare that to the shell AGM which was happening on the same day over in the Hague. And apparently, there were very few protests or any sort of action going on over there, certainly nothing, like staff being stopped from getting into buildings and things. And do you think that that's because shell has been clearer about its determination to invest in renewables, and lower carbon forms of energy, then B P so far? And do you think that BP is worried about that? And that's why it took the steps that it did this way. I think BP's just a different point than shell shell faced this kind of backlash Affi years ago. Let's also remember. That shell is very much a dodge company and this huge amounts of domestic pressure. And this is now only ricocheting around the world, you know, to all the European companies as well as US counterparts, but, you know, the protesters this week were saying to be, you must shift all your investment into renewables, or go bust, but it's not entirely clear if that's the strategy. Yeah. And this is just the latest example we've seen of shareholders, trying to pressure oil and gas companies and indeed coal companies to disclose more about the future plans and targets and investments and talk more about the financial and physical risks that they might face by climate change. Ultimately, do you really think this is going to shift the dial? When it comes to lowering global carbon emissions through the investors say, there's a sort of a three pronged approach here. The first is to get these companies to be more transparent. Then it's to get them to set tie. Targets on their emissions and then the third bit of this strategy is to shift their investments towards cleaner fuels cleaner energies into ready. Get a handle on the investment component here, but it's not clear to me, how long that is going to take an if these companies are going to agree to shift the businesses in a meaningful way. And there's also just a place devil's advocate. I think there is a real question about what is the company's responsibility versus the government's responsibility? Where does the role of policymakers and business leaders begin? I mean at time when we're seeing global emissions still rising. The world is not on track to meet the Paris climate goals. A lot of that is due to government inaction as well as what companies are doing. We've seen that globally, governments haven't really stepped up to make the types of commitments that they would need to live in a two degree world, which then sort of empowers the companies to say, well, if the governments haven't figured this. Out, then why is that our job? So I can sort of see their twenty few in that way, would sort of just make two further points, which is that let's be clear. The world is still using huge amounts of oil and gas will using one hundred million barrels a day of oil. So from the company's point of view, if the demand is there, at least for now, why would they pull back that's the first point? And the second point is that, you know, to what extent can these companies really transition? Yeah. Just finally one way that the oil majors trying to prove that this series of crime. It changes by making these big investments in renewable energy. We saw one of those this week lately that you wrote about that actually shows that this getting quieter crowded field. Yes, we've just seen two of Europe's largest utilities g of France and EDP of Portugal tie up all of their offshore wind assets, which is going to create a bit of an offshore wind behemoth. An already we've seen a former oil and gas company known as Dong become or stud. It's now the world's largest offshore wind developer, and we do see more and more traditional energy companies, try and go that direction the company, formerly known as Stott oil now Ecuador, it also has a growing offshore wind business, so there is some indication that the traditional energy companies are really pushing in that direction although globally last year. What was very striking is that we had some numbers out a couple of days ago from the. A that suggested total global investment in clean energy. In fact fell a little bit last year. Despite the surge of interest from European energy groups, the global picture is still not quite as rosy. Thank you, Leslie, and angelie. That was police Clark took into a senior energy.
