Hey, I don't know somehow click on my mind, and I tell everybody see you tomorrow, if I sometimes forget to tell customer customer telling me leaky, see you tomorrow. You forget to tell me, and they love it anybody load that. All from unload, then that's great. I got something going there. Because I think that's big thing. Everyone who told me they'll you gotta see Ricky university. Liquors? Hey said every time he says see you tomorrow. He knows your name. He knows your order. Yes. I know most all customer pace to pace and by the name, everything the other places ain't doing that. I'll tell you that that anybody not friendly. But what about me, though, what about budget liquors? You guys got a big rivalry maybe going back there. I don't make any complain about that. But you have to ask someone not me. Okay. You win the wife just hit the bar. So yeah, this too, but hang out with all the kids go out there and one day, I hope to stay with my family, though, you know, me at my home. Is there any days off laser it takes them? They all no booze on Sunday Sunday. No, I am not working Sunday. But my story is open on Sunday. Oh, it is open though. Because he's gotta get beer for the bare chest got to watch the NFL. They gotta watch the game. That's right, Ricky, that's good art. Let's move into this general liquor store questions. Okay. Have you ever had a kid who was too drunk to buy booze? Not happen. All the time in my store. Never happened though. All kids that are nice. And when he by self he said, okay, we not gone wrong and Ricky store because he's my sweaters. Have you not school up him? No, that's not come and whatever come he's going to be friend. So he said stale double to is the I still engaged and he style excite to. That's nice so customers with nice with me. All I should unlisted student everybody. Nice with me give respect give respect back. Yes. Everyone likes to respect story to believe. That's important. That's important. But why do you know, you get like the glazed is over someone stumbling knocking into the Admiral Nelson or some and many talk I know that because then longtime enough to business when people talking I know there's. Look like. Yeah. About the fake ID's. A lot of people walked painting Feek ID, alcohol and Feek. I read. I tell everybody stealing trouble fleas don't buy on fake ID easy to tell. Yes. Easy to tell. And. Starting of the year commode couple eighty but after he everybody knows you not give sell feet eighties. So everybody stopped and he not coming. My store for pick ID because that's big the syllabus week the first week. Yes, kids they get Brady. Yeah. Think I'm gonna new spot. I got this. Yeah. Yeah. I Emerson stars. Everybody knew for us to anyway. So through I I'm everybody tight but a couple of weeks late. No this mill no fun. So it's funny to bidding fake ID. He was caught in lawns for eleven fifty an hour at the park district over the summer and save fake ID. I think he's gonna pull a faster on you. Then. No way. There's no way. What about booze he stopped selling at two AM? Right. Oh, no, one forty five one forty five Friday and said that little is that the Larr two on one forty five. Yeah. How long? Yeah. Someone walks in at one forty six they turned Ricky. I'll give you my shoes. Those still we say, Nope. Saudi no, no Saudi. What's the best thing that offered a Rolex watch? So some big time Nick shot. Barrington kid, anybody not offer that anybody. I closed only five minute utterly. Everybody knows Dicky close five minute utterly. I don't want to give anybody trouble. That smart. So one thirty time I close one forty five time, I closed one forty keep yourself Shaq. Yeah. So I like that Ricky, and he crazy moment off the top of your head. Nope. Fifty moment homecoming game not played this a crazy day full sailing noted thing, but everybody nice all the time that time too because come out all stolen and everybody and everybody likes that too. Again, back to back. Okay. Yeah. So there's nothing but the craziest day of the year, you would say his homecoming homecoming very good day. Okay. So that the big box, you're like, recreating, the breaking Bates all around and money in the front room. Again, some time to you see we take me over that. You see me on dairy, everybody laughing and everybody's outing to come on is is here on game two. They put you on the Jumbotron acts fantastic the kids crying love to cheer on that time that was better than the game. I bet you that's I think thirteen. Rickie ever have a kid who never left. This guy comes in every year. And you know, it seems like seven years go by it's like, hey kid is now responsible for me to sell it to you anymore. Go hit the books ho studied go to the library. You got a kid who just been here forever? Now that kind of thing happened though, when I look sometime, I del cute. Bit bit come to aid tickled easy. I mean, find on everything don't give them to mom and dad. Mr. need to do you watch the bachelor. No, there's the guy who was on the bachelor win here. He was kind of emotional kind of you know, cry. You know, maybe, you know, very emotional guy. Was he emotional in the store like he was picking cherry Burnitz or sweet tea Burnitz, and he would just cry. That's not happening. Some time in people grid yet and laughter leaving. And last time. You see me dust? I'm mount of bills and boys crises Ricky, I miss you all the time. What can I do? Without you, the poison crying, boys. Could I can go claim to and mom says dick Lisi, then coming homecoming company time Siri give lease buy. You. Gotta look what does that mean? To you. Go. Nice that's night. And everybody before lives as I live my second home today. Yes. Ricky, that's amazing. What about you know, Francis Ellis these guy, he's a blogger? He wrote some harsh words on university. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Illiinois state university. He was very mean, very disrespects. What did you think about that? His nice guy, though, not a bad. God don't kind of a dick for doing that. But he's nice with me all the time complaining about in the know he's good though. Okay. And what about E Schnitt? Do you know her early state Schnitt head? But she's nice do Junkin in love New York City. Yes. There we go, you know, see brookies shit out. He knows Vince. Joe fuck those guys. Those guys are out. Those guys are out. Those guys are problem. Right. Back to the schools show as well as homecoming. Do they still do around the world here? Oh, yeah. There's been on the wall here two years. What's that? Everybody stopped Woodley morning and everybody requests to Vicki open. Ten o'clock every day around the world beard and everything is can you open a half hour Livni's? And I do that too for students to everybody entered that though, but that's got to be such a weird day. Instead of kids are buying. You know, keystone light kids are buying Beck's for for the Germany. Yeah. You know, it's like science so much Becks. To the different kind of day. Right. Yeah. Different kind and nobody ended their they alert day everybody entered different than maybe. Any problems anyone come in the store and try to take money or no that's not happen anytime with me that makes me feel really that has to be a scary situation. Yeah. And not police and issue police with us all the time. He couple realm all the time every day. So we safe to their big time police time, I mean, listen ice, you police to help us a lot. Yeah. They mean business. I'm yeah. What's the most popular item? Most popular car. That's it. And Gordon's over the school. They get the school, but not golden golden out of market. Now does everybody does all people ring? I don't know. Doc on eight now car taco. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I've never heard live with tonight on all flavor whites. Another kind of. That's the mode new one. So keep it in the bud nurse everybody load that anybody low Ed middle Nilsson. Cherry flavor, Admiral Nelson cherry that's a new one, right? That's an one or one. But everybody low that they make a different different kind drinks. And everyday. The shelves. Yes. Playing up to self every day. Yeah. Look at that Ricky we're coming towards the end here. Is there anything you want people to know, maybe someone who graduated to get a message out there. You know? Wait and tell everybody I miss you. I love you. And I like to see you back when you coming in town, at least please stop by tuck to me I'd like to see you guys. Okay. Thank you very much for past business to very go ready to campus sludge. What Turned D'Angelo Russell Intro a Professional | Court Vision Podcast with Jameer Nelson & Ben Stinar

"And Yep. Thanks for calling on a corporation podcast with us. It's like what have you you're in Europe? What have you been up to in terms of training you playing golf? What's what's been like last few weeks and months for you? Yeah, I really took that trip to Europe just to get away from the quarantine life has that is all held in and steady. So I've been trying to just I don't know. I just want to get a little bit so I thought it was necessary to just take a little truth. Trying to stay in shape and she took me what you man, man. I wish I wish I had I had to get away though. I ain't got nothing going on training in the Sleep back to golfing all over again. It was trying to find how many times you guys have played. I think I can only find you guys play each other one time. I think was nuggets vs Lakers over a year. Yeah. Yeah. I remember trying to remember trying to get around this dude, or I was trying to see put that are more you and I try to use my other arm to get it off and he wasn't going nowhere like everyday crazy without you for sure. You wanted to one of the young dudes that came in during my career that you know, I kind of kept an eye on from college, you know, we Ohio State I just was hearing your name your name, you know watching as many games as I could. And you were getting compared to other guys that you know where your draft in my life when they were comparing you to certain guidelines to say your names, but I'm like I'm like man, you'll see what I see like this dude is way better than you know certain people. I'm not going to say names. But but also they were trying to compare you to Steph Curry in in our in our life where I'm like, you can't prepare them or two totally different players. I say and it's not fair. It's not fair for DeAngelo to come in with that comparison because he hasn't come in to be his all made and you've done a great job so far off doing that answer your adversity well and finding finding who you are in the NBA, that's crazy. You say that this it's tough finding yourself off saying is Lee going it's all dogs in the league. You can compared to so many players you model your game after but that's their game and you slowly realize what you do and where you find your Niche hath Over time it became easier. I'm glad you noticed that I appreciate that. Yeah, definitely. Definitely. I mean you for me as a veteran. I had guys I looked up to like off with some of the guys you looked up to coming into the league and even even still now, I mean cuz I still even though my plan I still admire the game and admire flares and I tell people all the time this evening younger guys, even dollars or older guys. I was looking up the younger guys just because of their that work ethic and stuff like this who are some of the guys you looked up to. Man, I'm I'm slowly. I mean, I've been I've been respected with Chris Paul, you know has done over the years but just as as he gets older and how long how deep like you gets no wiser, obviously, but he just finds a way to just out think the game, you know, how think the other nine players there on the floor Choice. She made she puts them in the best position. He's out thinking and while he has the ball in it and he's out thinking of rims. He's out thinking, you know, just anybody that he's he's not with you know, and I see every little thing that he is, you know from a Competitive Edge and my and my game into it but he's one of the main guys that I really just been studying, you know, just studying how he just find a way to just get it done at this age same time and doing it and doing it from a way that they tried to eliminate each other lemonade the mid-range game. So he's still dominating that keeping that alive for us. And and like you said the younger guys deluca's and Trae young and it was a really exciting. I think that's sort of game going, you know, just figuring out to be efficient. But exciting at the same time, you're definitely in my opinion and and I know for sure been been it's huge you Russell fan and I'm a huge fan. I'm not that huge of a way to get dressed up like been today, but you know, it's just the first time he works suit on the podcast and it's a special day for help. That's my God. Yeah. He talked he speaks highly of you down in terms of your character. That means a lot also means a lot to me as a veteran and former player because a lot a lot of young guys come in and they feel entitled a lot of young guys come in and they don't feel like they want to they should have to work with things are given to him. But he proven so far that things that you get you earned. Yeah, and and that's that's a testament of your work ethic. You know, how you were brought up birth. And how you like I said how you handled ever mercy of you know coming in as a rookie. Not shining the way people thought you should try going to Brooklyn making your first All-Star team. They're not staying and now you found a home in Minnesota where some of the toughest things that you have that you handled so far. The wait is finally over football is back. What were some of the toughest things that you had that you handled so far and Ricky University wage For sure, you know you coming in to the league at a young age. You're not really always saying this way. You don't know what you're preparing for. You. Just trying to prepare the best way you can you know life without guidance that can be tough, you know and me being five years. And now I see how guys are molded into who they are today from the vets and the Thursday and just the guidance they had when they came in just that whole atmosphere of just you know preparation for for for the Youth. I think that was what you know, most a lot of the guys until they are today for me. I had to handle that adversity that I went through to help open my eyes to how to be a professional. You know, I used to have the title. I thought you know, once you draft. Pig you're not you you're supposed to be in the league for 15 plus years. I'm thinking that's just automatic not knowing that man that one year is just you just start to see slow. You just start slowly see guys fall off. You came in as a scary feeling to to see four other guys interested after yourself. You don't want to be one of those guys met a lot of guys that keep keep our class. You know, she keeps the elevating, you know, so I I try to just try to stay at the top of that list, but for for any guy coming in the younger guys coming in, I'm I look up. Hey, I'm twenty-four and you would think I've been in the league. I feel like I've been waiting forever. But when I see these younger guys coming in I try to prepare them on things that they can't you off your head you learn the hard way or you learn from it the way you learn from it, but when you don't have to dump your head and you can just already Dodge all those little obstacles that you can go through as a younger player in the B. I just trying to you know, speak on that as much as I can. You know, I think it's just emojis you into the player you're going to end up being so more knowledge at that young age is better. When we did that long story back in back in April, it's been like 5 months from now, you know, remember that story Dion Jake. It was great stuff very really stuck with me. What really stuck with me one that kept saying I learned how to be a fucking professional in Brooklyn. I mean, you kept saying that can you can you expand more on entertaining your diet how you secure your body that that just really stuck with me. I mean, I know Jeff boals was nearby as a lot of good things up near Bible what really turned you into that fucking professional like you kept saying, And I just I feel like I had opportunities in my in my vision that I didn't know how to grab. You know, with that being said with the Lakers situation. It probably would have went different if if if you know if it wasn't Kobe's last year and I didn't go through what I went through but that opportunity and it's a lot of things come and go out of that organization, but I'm just thinking I could have been a guy that's still there that they were like man. I don't care what we do. He's a part of the future, you know, he is a part of the future from what just from that opportunity and who I knew I could have been wage and then just going through book like every situation I was going through I went through Brooklyn. I see how the the performance team was, you know, running the whole organization, you know, they just they were just way way ahead of the time all it seems I've been on I haven't seen a performance team like that, you know, Minnesota's almost a mirror image of it, but just the way that they handle For Miss day. They they preach sleep and take care of your body your eating habits. Like they preached this so you had to adjust and adapt to it. And anybody that's you know, wasn't a you know adapting suggested a like a short-term. So I just got with that program then I started to see my game elevated at the same time. I mean I had a I had a routine come into League. I never had a routine. I was just, you know, go to sleep. Wake up. I might take a nap. I might take a nap all you know, if I'm going to do that every time, you know services like I didn't know what I didn't know how to be a professional life. I look across the I look across that the teams were playing against and I see all my younger dudes that I came in when they they they got a routine. They got their coach. That's as as God bless on them. You know, he's kind of still gaining too and I just didn't have that. So once I got him and I see my game elevate it was just like why why stop doing it if it works, right? Yeah for me. I it's funny you dead. Obviously go to school for four years. So I kind of developed my routine in college and most of my professionalism came from college because and also as a young age a kid, so I had to mature a little faster in different areas, you know, but that the last few years of my career. I did try to help guys with the professionalism wage had rain here who helped me. I had Stacey off and Pat Garrett all those veterans I had but nowadays like you said you're five years since you're a veteran now when I was five years, I was still a young guy so so that you know, I like where the league is headed with the young guys. You named yourself Luca all those guys. Are you guys have shown a lot of maturity in a short stand with with limited amount of veterans. So I'm definitely excited to see where you guys take the lead birth. With your professionalism because it's going to be big as we go go forward. Even when you talking about using your platform and all that stuff. You see Jaylen Brown, you know using his platform, you know, so so it's going to be interesting to see how you guys take it from here. Oh, yeah. I it's just a piggyback on that too. I see a lot of the young guys that you know have adversity at this age earlier in their career. If it was the number one Pig number five pick 15. Trade like I see them going through it and It's almost like it's meant to break you if you ain't built for it, you know what I'm saying? Like it can break you but then you see the guys that over, you know overcome it and it's just greener on the other side, you know, so I'll be off find out a lot of young guys at University and I'll see how they approach it and how they approached changes and you see the guys that never changed their approach. They stick with even they're Blinded By You supposed to be used to be figuring it out right now, you know I'm saying and it's tough to see it. But for God's. I was good to see that he Angelo now has You want to see cuz you both game it's kind of a pick-and-pop, which a cat can shoot the ball to do you remember what your voice cut you cut out? Can you guys hear me now? Yeah, God Jimmy or you had Dwight Howard diangelos. Now got cat, you know, you got that pick-and-pop D'Angelo can shoot the mid-range better than anybody you could shoot the mid-range. What do you want to see out of Deangelo and cat going off of what you with right now about ten years. I think it's going to be the next step for for you D'Angelo. It is leadership bringing people along with you and I think in Minnesota, that's what they were lacking a last few years. They've had guys like Jimmy Butler come in who wasn't the right fit and in terms of their leadership, but I think you can be a guy because you you you've been there and done it use your world respecters around them and definitely around your your teammates. So the next step for you should be I'm going to leave my team leader as far as I can and and the perfect example what you said is Chris Paul look at it. Look what he did was dead. Oklahoma City, they they weren't supposed to be not even like fighting in the players. They weren't even supposed to be in the playoffs. So there's no reason to me that you could be that guy that leaves Minnesota to the playoffs and it's and it's listening Hollywood. It is I love cats as regards leak. So it's it's you know, I'm putting pressure on you and you should accept that pressure because you you you know, like I said, you handled yourself well enough to be the leader of that team. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. I think the way I think was was so nice about the league is there's a lot of there's a lot of teams that are you know that are that are built the same way that our motives the same way with the big neck and you know, either facilitator that guard that can make stuff happen, you know, you see it in the playoffs with your kids Jamal like they're they complement each other. So well that the wage Supporting Cast, you know, they have to show up. But when they anything they do more than that is very on the top, you know, they all they gotta do is show up. Basically, you know, you know took the net luxury of Carl never I've never had anything like that, but just had a luxury to I'm excited just to have that and had the pieces that we can put around it to to make it worth. It's exciting to see it. What are your thoughts that I saw you get that number one pick? I mean I was I was some good luck right there. What are your thoughts on what they should do or make you have a strong input on that. There's a lot of different guys people can float around. There's no Surefire number one guy off. Yeah. Exactly. There's no guy that you know, I haven't really paid attention to the to the guys coming out. I only know what I've heard I get to really watch it too much but you don't know you don't know how long the number one pick or what the plan is, you know, I think it's still too early to tell what our plan is, you know for that situation Monica gotten to do our normal page pre-draft work for you guys could level you know, you have a student you need that so you were our team is in the next two months. Figure out what the plan is. I think that's that's what we're going through right now. Honestly what I like about a guy like like lamelo or someone like that is what you used to playing off the ball. I mean, you're a true point guard you can pass the ball better than better than pretty much any but you you can play off the ball just as well. You have so much experience playing off the ball other spots in you know, pick and choose spots where someone else to handle the ball as well. I mean, it's it's tough. Like I said, I think we want to we're not we're in a position where we're we're not rebuilding cuz we can we get some pieces were too busy trying to figure out identity. So if that's us figured out put identity together to where we can win now. Versus they bring in a younger guy in and having a more older experienced guy in you know, trading the pick if that makes sense, then that's what it is. But they want to go young put a younger younger folk didn't see how that goes. I think anything can happen. That that number that I don't want to pick is obviously big asset how y'all got it. I have no idea but I'm happy y'all got it. You know, the next keep is the next month's bill. I know you know, but you know what it is. The one thing is, like I said, you guys have to really good pieces really really good young pieces you again and You know, you put the right pieces around you to write system, you know, obviously the West is really tough. But like I said, you see what okay. See there you see how Denver has built as has been built up you guys have the same potential to do that. I mean, it's a smaller Market city in Minnesota. So you won't get scrutinized as much when you you have a bad game. So you just go play off. I got three games for for D'Angelo. I want to ask him about three specific games. One is the most recent one in Minnesota. Was that when we get the block. Jimmy Butler, what would take me through that game? Miami Yeah, create a block on Jimmy at the end. Well, I'll take you through it. We had a great time the night before but not tonight. Not not the night before the day before we had a little team outing on the Los Angeles. It was it was nice. I think that's why we play so well, we're so ready honestly, but we we figured that was like going into we probably like four games left after that before. She sees the shutdown we were figuring it out a little bit, you know, our whole team was brand new coach put familiar line up at the end of the game that we were we were riding with a previous games and we had some some good luck with so he put a nice lineup that we were familiar with out there and I think offensively we were clicking in on a defensive and we just started getting stops, you know at the same time and I decided to be in the right place at the right time. I knew Jimmy when passing it so I just committed to it and tried to make a play. The 15th, hold on. Sometimes they pass that's that's that's hard to you know, somebody passed and you feel like you on the island, but you took like foam took that opportunity, you know, he was a passing and sat down and see because his fans and got that stopped our stuff for me a smaller gar. I was always like oh shit. I noticed do about the shooting and I can't block off. Right right. See I see guys you see you a calorie is he's in there committing every time taking charge. So yeah, it's opening my eyes a little more. the fifty two point game first verse the Timberwolves Now I just thought that situation honestly was just ironing, you know to my whole situation, you know, brought me back there. I'm talking to my boys. I'm like man I should have had a 50 point game by this time Jake know God talking to him like man. It's about that time and it is just I was I was I was shooting the ball well through that whole stretch and then we play Minnesota and Any any any holes like a fine? I was making a place it was it was a great film any time you play against a team. You have a game like that. That's normally the team you end up with this crazy. Yeah. He's always like that. I mean, it's always just like I remember the one year in the side of a Dallas and I always played well against Dallas and I just, you know, like I know they're going to you know, call Mom in free agency. So they called item get traded anyway the middle of the Year from Dallas, but it's always like that you have your best games and then that team is like we need this guy for some reason. The other game was I hate to bring it up. I've never seen I've never seen her this angry that game in OKC when you got when you got the two techs, why did you get so angry that game? I've never seen you get that agitated over all man. I was I was this I remember that guy was a shooter ball a lot. I was just kind of making plays cuz guys were they were making shots. We were getting smacked at 1 a.m. But I just remember making making plays and then I went to the whole pie twice. I don't even do that. The first time I go to the whole Chris Paul kind of like raped my arm and I and I made sure that sound about right noticed here a smile he raced and then the next play. How do you next two plays later? I come back I go to the game and I make this shot and I still get a feel just raped me. They don't call any knocks me on the ground dead and I just lost it. Add a character that one that would overall I was very surprised on their Juniors got Juniors gotta get going soon. But we appreciated you come off on the last thing we do is what what's what's the next few weeks few months for you like mean there's maybe going to be that eight teams that were in the playoffs. What's what's next for the next few weeks a few months. Man, I'm trying to take this time and regular in a normal situation. We would be getting ready for training camp and we'd be you know begin with juices going. So I'm trying to get get that ramp up back up and then fortunately I mean I don't know what the seasons going to what's going to happen the season but we get a date on lunar to start things all I can you know, I could schedule around that but right now Distributing golf in in between and Call of Duty at home, so Yeah, it's interesting. It's interesting. You know, last thing is interesting. Because your body is used to shutting down at a certain time and starting up a certain style. And it's it's it's funny to see these guys play and took like they'd never missed a beat as you're ready. Yeah, you ready to play. So you'll Hooper. So my thing is to do is like you just stay ready. And and you know, you you've been through enough already to know how to handle yourself but it has to be tough mentally not knowing when your next season is going to start you'll know how to you don't know how to plan your schedule. You know, it's it's tough cuz they you say your your body gets used to on for a few months off on off and now it's just been like if you want to be off you can lose it like getting it back is going to be way harder. So I just try to stay home, you know into that engineer. The Timberwolves be in the playoffs next season. Remember those words. I don't I don't doubt it man. I don't doubt it. But remember you get the playoffs. You gotta Make Some Noise, then it ain't enough just to get their homes.
