"My girl WGN right here I'm Riley James that's first time to Manhattan's charted in 1965 on carnival It forms in 62 in New Jersey City but didn't get a record deal for a little while and that was sunny bivens and who else was in that group Of course blue love it And Wally Kelly and there's more Oh Ricky Taylor of course And sadly 1970 the lead singer who was George mitty Smith yeah did lead all the way through 70 it got a brain tumor died by the end of 1970 31 years old That's when Gerald alston came in to replace him and as fate would have it Gerald Olson who was a replacement in 1970 is the only surviving member of all the original manhattans are gone But yeah that was the first time they charted an after carnival rereleased which we played earlier searching for a baby and I'm the one love forgot and didn't play that I should have But so many good ones trying to get to many of them before the night is everything I'll do I call it love next and that was the last charter on carnival from a 1967 but Karen and Chicago said I just found out about the manhattans and of course you know she knew about the hits on Columbia I'm like no no no they used to be a great group And you know not giving the Columbia stuff short shrift just saying I don't want to hear it But the carnival stuff and the deluxe stuff yeah all day All right so Donovan says I screwed up G what else is new This is not the second my calendar was wrong It is the third the third night of Hanukkah So all right what do you know Well I normally wouldn't know this off the top of my head but just being down in Jersey last week with Jewish friends I found out that Sunday Night was the first night so I kind of thought knew we were slightly off there Yeah so much for my calendar And I guess because the holiday what starts at sundown through the next day type thing so they may think of it differently but my calendar misled me said that this was interesting This was the second night And like I said no the prayer though Here I doubt you'd ever play this but you may have come across it but Adam Sandler's Hanukkah song which is a reduced several different versions Sure because you know you can't listen to doctor demento and not have heard that stuff Of course Yeah If you would be able to play that at some point one of the versions that would be fun Oh yeah no I absolutely will before the before the holiday is over So I've got through Sunday which means I have to do it either tomorrow or Thursday to make it on one of the nights And then next year because I of course I asked my handy Alexa device and she said that Hanukkah next year will be starting on December 18th So we'll be running right through Christmas Yeah right The calendars don't coincide year to year but when they fall at the same time that's probably nice for kids Traditionally there weren't any gifts involved with the holiday from what I understand You know maybe a little guilt the chocolate coins they would give out But with such pressure holiday time now kids get gifts Well they kind of fill either their gratification I guess as opposed to opening them all on one morning or Christmas Eve It's spread out so Yeah And they're not supposed to be that major though You know they're supposed to be minor things Yeah right exactly Like I say originally it was those foil coins the chocolate that they would have in a gold foil Yeah And that was about it but now it's developed into an iPod or something Of course Speaking of iPod music and I'm not sure because I didn't get a chance to listen last night of the night before but you know that rosalie trembling the famous music director from CK LW passed away last year Oh yes I do And it's a blessing to her in a loss for the rest of us She'd been suffering from Alzheimer's for several years in fact in 2006 she got a big award She wasn't there for it but her son picked it up and they asked her you know is your mom aware of the subordinate he said oh yes she absolutely is So she at that point knew that she got the recognition She was utterly amazing And everybody remembers her music ability and for people who didn't know about rosalie rosalie was a housewife in Windsor who became a switchboard operator at sea KL W and 63 and she was appointed a music director by the end of 67 because they discovered that she could pick hits and she could pick hits like nobody else You know the joke with me was always they'd ask me if I liked it and if I did they knew not to play it Well she was just the opposite She could send them and just knew them But while everybody waxed a sentimental about that I think they missed the real story of rosalie and that's when cannon came in this woman was strapped with those regulations and she still made CK W that number one top 40 station in Detroit and Windsor and of course the Detroit station didn't have the cannon problems so even with that she was able to triumph and good for her No kidding And I think Bob Seger even wrote a song She didn't she didn't like that She did not play rosalie She was not one who liked to be pandered to ever And that was you know so she never did play it but yeah he did And a lot of people gave her a lot of credit but I think that most of them stateside didn't understand what that woman had to go through as time went on you know it was easier in 68 than a waden 71 That's for darn sure And then she went to work for Barney ailes for a while who had been a promotion guy at Motown and was independent she did that for a while I think her last job was working at a casino Yeah but she had been I thought she had stayed right to the end of kind of the a.m. incarnation of because I remember there was a documentary that came out maybe just in Canada in 2000 and four the rise and fall of the big 8 Yes And there was talk and she was being interviewed and it sounds like she was kind of in part of the negotiations in the early to mid 80s when they were trying to move it to FM and of course the CRTC with their archaic regulations wouldn't allow hits to be played on FM Right The person who changed that was George Johns and that was an interesting story He was he went from a Winnipeg to Toronto and the same thing was they wouldn't let you play hits on a famine so he actually went to the CRTC did not tell his ownership or management that he was doing it And he said I need to explain to you why these records that I want to play are popular with adults and they bought it So.

"And the announcer said. We're gonna try to find out what happened to Kobayashi Rodeo back that there's something in the car. I mean, if you had a 20 for our race, and you blow on engine or kind of tire or something that's devastating. How do you ever make up that time? And it turned out that Johnson was simply shaking his head. In awe of the lead the Kobayashi built during his lead, Kobayashi got into the car and they weren't leading any eventually got it up to a 13 2nd lead anyway. The end of the race, the driver of the car that won the driver who was in the car team that one was Philippe Eog occur. Albuquerque, The on Suns owner, Ricky Taylor was another driver. Listen to her. The number three and number four drivers were Helio Castro Davison Alexander Rossi, both of whom have one Indianapolis 500, so kind of exciting stuff, And in that race, remember, it's a 20 for our race, and they simply run 24 hours and whoever is ahead of whatever 24 hours come, That's the last lap and they finish and you slop off drivers and so on. But you use the same car the whole way through. So it's really an endurance thing. And It's kind of like the old cannonball run sort of things. We have stop off drivers, and you've got to keep moving, and the teams that went into the ones that get the best superstar drivers that are out there. 24 hours with seven minutes left. There's one second Less than a second between the leader. And the second place driver, the driver. The second place car is a guy named regular band is Annie. What do you think happens to him? You believe he gets a flat tire? Seven minutes in the finish of a 20 for our races, tire goes down and they have to go into the pits and change the tire in the other team went and won the race. I'm guessing the only two people in southeastern Wisconsin who are watching the 24 hours of Daytona over me and John Wyatt, which might tell you Could have devolved into that. But It was kind of cool watching it in the presentation, and NBC sports was pretty.

And Ah, he was Tuesday evening, and he he walked on into the walmart do to do to do and there was an off duty cop who was working security detail at the store. And he said, Sir, sir. Sorry before you enter the store. It is policy that every customer Oh, wear a mask. And that off duty security cop said. I can furnish you with a mask if you don't have one of your own Well, pretty standard policy now. Yep. Ricky Taylor. Not a fan. And he made himself known by cursing out the officer. You can't make me wear a bleeping mask. I'm not wearing a bleeping mask. Well, OK, on the contrary, actually, in this case if you want to shop there You've got to put the mask on. So later on, he did purport to have a medical condition that presented prevented him from wearing a mask, but not until after he Was really rude to the off duty cop. But due to his unruly behaviour, WalMart placed him on trespass notice. So the cop asks him for his driver's license, and he said I could give it to you, but I'm not going, Tio. And then he exited the store and headed for his vehicle. And then do you know what he did? Pooped in the parking lot. No, I like that. End of the story. Ah, remember her pulled in Amber heard? No. He ran over the patrol officer. What with his car. He backed his auto up and twice struck. The old man who tried was just kindly give him a mask. Is he okay? He's fine. He but Mr Taylor Ricky Taylor was charged with aggravated assault on a peace officer, which is a felony. And disorderly conduct and resisting an officer. He was released from jail last night. I don't think he ever got what he needed from the wall, but this dude, this was much more about Thiss was not just the he was not an anti mass. No individual. This was just a battle of wills. Yeah, listen, I just want to use that, as like a cautionary tale like we don't need to get so Just put the dumb mask on. We don't need to be running people over. We don't need to be hurting people. It seems like he's the kind of guy that was looking for some issues. Yeah. He was looking for a fight. He wanted to run somebody over with this car. Also Quick aside. Having nothing to do with crazy, stupid idiots. Do you know what advertisement is popping up on nearly every single page I visit lately. The 02 respirator mask. That Is this the very mask we saw Sam Asgard? Yeah, not cut for your face. I think I sent that to you guys a while back. It finally started showing up on mine, and I don't know what triggered it. Probably because we've talked about masks or something, but, yeah, I just don't really know why they couldn't have improved on the design snow so it didn't look like Not cop. It looks like a Ah, yeah, Protective Vice for your schwing swang. I don't get it. Alright. Ah, When we come back on the Colleen and Bradley show to 45 we play a very fun game. It's fun for us. "Longer term trend we did sing of course going from bricks to clicks I just be online category I mean honestly I don't know why people go to regular retail stores I can't I can't I can't quite figure it out I AB do you have going to many retail stores this this season or did you actually order most of it online I did it a bit of a combination because it was super busy after Christmas so I ran out of time and spent one evening just on Amazon just bang bang bang bang bang bang or ordering stuff and then shipping it because I traveled for Chris right and and then the day before Christmas we went to the stores and picked up some last minute yes when the crowds well I was in in California I was actually I was in Oregon and we were like pulling in and going here's a great parking spot like do you realize it would take it as forty five minutes are you spot in LA at least yeah well you know I I enforce the dealt with the problem of delays on some of my gifts now the Amazon dot com gift all landed on time but I ordered from some smaller retailers that word that got me with click bait you know like I don't want I think yes hasn't arrived yet so I don't wanna out it but it was it was a very like cool custom made gift and the Ricky Taylor promised that they have a to me before Christmas and they did so do you get a refund well I haven't gone nuclear on them yet I just want my gift because yeah I'm thinking Christmas is now more of like a a multi day thing it's a celebration of gifts over a period of time because the Amazon angels you know can get stuck in the weather on the fifteen so anyway I'm I'm good at well what is it was a four my parents yeah so I figure they'll they'll be where it's all about where can be tough as if everybody's flying in a you don't see a very much my parents live here include so I just walking over in Santa will come by but that yeah I could see if everybody's flying in he had one event give everybody their guests that could be you know I also be doing I deliver I just have Amazon whoever I'm deliver just send the gift ahead of time to the person I want to give it to sign up the lug gifts around descended directly to their house is that lazy now maybe okay are you wouldn't know it says it that it doesn't get wrapped really pretty like we we did have a couple of gifts at my house or my nephew gave it you know give us something and he was like here and it came in an Amazon box is that okay could you at least put a bow on it right but here's where your assumption is wrong with me you're assuming that if I had time that I could wrap it pretty myself I can't I don't have those skills I used to be the guy who will go to the mall and have the professional rappers rap my gifts because mine is hideous so just be able to click the little gift but not Amazon at least having a little pouch or something is is leveling up so I don't have to go to the mall well here's a secret even if it's not beautifully wrapped people don't care they appreciate the effort and my brother was he did a lot of you how much I like you have this rain like gift wrapping well but my brother's the same way he's like I'm so sorry I'm so sorry and like you put the effort into it and everybody hates wrapping right thank you for effort into it you get points that's true well and he looks back spenders are continuing to spend three point four percent growth over twenty eighteen I mean that's significant and to me what it tells me is when I eat I can't help but take every economic indicator and plug it into my forecasting internal model for what's gonna happen to Donald Trump and twenty twenty and what did your mother tell you well here's what it is if you've got all of these indicators you got booming booming stock market the S. and P. five hundred rising nearly thirty percent last year you've got holiday sales shooting through the roof and what that tells you about holiday sales is the consumers are feeling optimistic not just now but about twenty twenty their economic prospects going to twenty twenty because if you think you're gonna be laid off or your economic circumstance will be worse net in twenty twenty than it is now you don't spend quite as much in the holidays so all of these factors and then of course I wrap it around some polling numbers I liked it we track public pollsters tractors I track it internally for my clients its president trump's job approval as it ranks on the economy and consistently trump has been hovering in the high forties but in the last few months trump is at fifty two percent approve forty one percent disapprove on the handling of the economy is that enough so I mean with the economy as good as it is yeah fifty two percent is a much fair point any other president in any other political climate with these kind of economic numbers would be sitting at the high fifties right now but in this polarized climate the fact that trump said fifty two is actually remarkable to get to fifty two and this is a looking nationwide this isn't just a the keylex coral states this is broader public opinion that means a lot of Democrats had to say that he did that they approve of his of his handling on on the economy if he hangs at fifty two if it that's able to not settle out from gets reelected it's almost that simple will get into later in the show Michael Moore yes that Michael Moore even agrees now he's not up he's not a political scientists is not a pollster but he doesn't want to give trump any credit where he doesn't have to and even he can't seem to deny trumps reelection prospects so are you look the the economic numbers spending numbers all these things are so exciting for me going in and not just politically just it I'm optimistic quite frankly for the country then I think the good times are gonna role at least for lease for another few months now course we look at California and we'll get into it with the latest Senate bill five that's the gig economy bill California can't seem to help but rain on my parade by making it ever so more difficult for small businesses to thrive and start we'll get into that but even with all that said your Connie overall is on the upswing and that the numbers are the numbers work what can I say here so coming up we're gonna get into coca Cola is it a little bit of controversy today they there are rumors that they're gonna be offering a cannabis drink now they deny it but I'll let you decide I'm John Thomas filling in for Gerry and Shannon course on KFI am six forty live everywhere and I "Welcome to another edition of establishing shot. We are back back from the from from where if we bed. We've we've attack. Oh my goodness we were just like in an Igloo. Big Lou somewhere we've just disappeared for a while we apologize to our loyal listeners. If you've been waiting to find out what happened in January and what happened in February debartolo loop forming arts center because we just kind of stopped talking about it I guess but this shot. It's been reestablished right now where This is our this is our relaunch soft relaunch of the podcast and it's a bittersweet soft relaunch. Because I am here. Ted Barron Executive Director of the bartle forming coming are performing arts center with my colleague by after qualify. Because they have to keep going with the qualifiers. My amazed. You're qualified the qualified colleague. I was GonNa give you something better than that. Qualify Call. Even though he's not a ricky Taylor Ricky. Hi Dr Bernard. Ricky Herbs is our cinema program director Sir and joining us for. What may be the last time ever? Don't even do this. She's leaving us. Paulette Curtis Who Many of you remember from our September I think podcast maybe somewhere somewhere back in the fall back when we were doing. This monthly Paulette is leaving the University of Notre Tame to go to the wilds of Columbus Ohio to find a new life for herself. But we're glad to have her back. Hello Paulette thank you. And it's great to be back Ted and Ricky I. I realized I didn't. I didn't pull up your Your title but it doesn't matter anymore doesn't really matter. She had that Notre Dame she had many titles and they were all interesting in prestigious out proceeded with formerly. Write a few checks down on the CV so so anyway so we're very grateful to have polit here. We're going to miss her terribly because she was one of our favorite people in the world to talk about to talk to about movies. Especially when new stuff comes out ricky and I always say what's what is pollen gotta get gotTa get that hot takes so we'll arbiter pollock. We're going to have to survive. Yeah when when Captain Marvel finally hits theaters. Oh we're going to be on our own. We're no we'll while find you find you find. That's right thank Joe. Saint you run to Columbus Columbus. That's right that's right so okay. So we're we're gonNA talk about what's happening in March outside of Captain Marvel because you know there are other things happening Ricky what can you tell us about March two thousand in nineteen at the Browning cinema. Well it's very busy As we know every October and March even though we do go on break in this case of spring break. The brining cinema does stay open and on either under that we have our full programming So a pretty busy lineup. During March We have a lot. I have new titles with the kind of the Slough of award season. We have a lot of new films that we WANNA show and March tends to be. Were they call us So we can run through those We're starting the month with a film. Mexico called Museo. We are GONNA show this originally and then it got rescheduled Bob Because of the polar vortex so this is a film strain Kyle Garcia Bernal and it's a docudrama of an actual event and In the mid nineteen eighties the Anthropology Museum Mexico City what had a huge art heist where particularly Native Artifacts Mayan Mayan and asset artifacts were stolen and they thought the KGB. Maybe did it or some major are syndicate cabal. Um I just happen to be a couple of kind of like grungy veterinary students. So this tells the story of their highest and then what they did with the loot. Because who's going to buy things. That are literally irreplaceable and impossible the value. So it's like the Mexican Mexican American animals very much so yes I mean. He's called Mexican animals. They were but it is. It is very very similar impact. I'm sure there is a quick and dirty conference paper on the new art heist film and how it's An who it's going to and who is being throw actually you could kind of throw in. Can you ever forgive me. Maybe with the whole the whole fraud of general yeah yeah within the collectibles world. It's which is which I recommend is actually a good film. Also just noticing Gal seems to be a big into period pieces set in the eighties his thing when they need to go back to what we think. Ah I th I think of his recent events. He's kind of the go-to right. Yeah it's funny. 'cause the film doesn't really try that hard. I mean I'm sure there's a lot of effort put into it. But but at front-load a lot of the establishing of the fact that it's eighty S. He's a Rubik's cube and Atari real light. That was it was the idea or eighties. Okay where's the beef. Oh okay so we're GONNA. We're moving from Matt to another film. Another foreign film is is about young age on Weei and life purpose This is coming. How France with an American expert expert I think so director Dennis Cooper and he's a writer who acquire writer from the eighties and nineties? WHO's made a couple of films now? And this is this follows. A I think he's at the end of highschool or roughly. Let's say an eighteen year old boy who really can't see how life should end becomes very fascinated with his own death uh-huh and the spectacle that should or should not produce and how it will be viewed by is friends and so it takes up the really heavy topic of teenage teenage suicide and mortality and people who stare at that brink it does so with some humor and a lot of intelligence and I really don't don't know how it's going to go over that'd be. It's an unusual cooper he has. He's only directed a few films right. It's like hell tour glow Was the one that that I was thinking. Yeah of which was way wilder. This is much more narrative based and Quiet and more pictorial sound And then we are showing CAIRN which people might have seen from the Oscars are are going to be playing before this podcast goes out. I think when it was it was it was a wonderful surprise to win. Best Foreign Language. Sorry Romo sorry sorry. Cold War So this is the film out of Lebanon. And it's about a streetwise kid Who's twelve and he Decides to take his family to court for the crime of Birmingham being him. Bring him into the world so feels very Iranian in that regard about kid and also and also bringing in the courts arts. Is there any tongue in cheek. nece to this or a pretty little more. No realist here. It's tough the tough movie Not to say there aren't moments of levity and but for the most part it's a pretty heavy foam and I think that I think though that People would really enjoy if they if they think. Well I mean I would say amidst the Oscars this year. I think one of the the foreign language categories pretty solid. Because you've got this you've got shoplifters people people really liked yeah jazz jazz about Cold War which we haven't I haven't seen yet and then of course Roma Forgetting oh the German. The German film which is go. Look there don't look who cares. It's the guy who did the lives of others which a- Ah Love Reading New Yorker profile on him so yeah it's great. I mean tour accenture accenture. Yeah Yeah Yeah okay. He did not remember the Johnny Depp. Do that was bizarrely strangely. Not Good Anyway. Okay so yeah. It's a good it's a but it's it's other than maybe his films. Okay but the other four are definitely solid contenders issue And we're GONNA do you. Were going to split the weekend with Cappon and a new film in America called blind spotting This is a film about I the way I've been putting his roughly like gentrification and the The police say and how to come together and volatile areas like Oakland Oakland California. I think it's a very good film for South Bend to be watching now Not only to be clued into a larger national discussion but to I also realize that these things can happen in south. Bend are happy and southbound and we'll be happening. I think with greater frequency in the area. So it's decide it's a very important filming Obama's list of best films of the year. I didn't see that. Oh yeah and it has one of the cast of Hamilton Etan Digs. Yeah W. thing I I wanna say like dubbed I think it is I heard Who ooh Great great career choices by him. Yup Smart the Lance Armstrong Hbo. Oh I didn't know that the doping wine fine Kimmy Schmidt some great choices another Oscar nominee coming up. This is the week of spring break. We have a run of Free Solo. Hello this is documentary nominee and four. Best Dark Mary Yep win. It might win so actually I. I have a weird thought because it has a very come back to this man on wire. Yeah and I think our BG probably descending anyway Yup So this is a documentary about Alex huddled who climbs the three thousand Al Capi Tan. For those of you who aren't Geagea a geologist or somebody park goers this a flat faced rock structure monolith that he climbed with no how met no nets no harnesses ropes. No protective career. Just him and the Rock which is insane insane heights issues I have I have I wanna web issues live. Evidently I mean yeah I don't I don't really like heights but I really really don't like the idea of just hanging out. Three thousand feet in the air with nothing to support you. So you've are. Is there a spoiler in there. It says climbed past ten so he evidently lived yes. He makes a documentary. No actually I didn't attempt to climb I keep. Ah Yeah but I don't think if it were out there so does it at all explorer. You know the not death swish but certainly this desire to push oneself. If you're in a comfortable sort of situation people who feel like a lack of meaning to life or often ones who are into sports like this or do things like this as does the film explore any of that or I think it gets that in some ways is how oh the that drive kind of me. Think of Roger Bannister underneath four minutes. How it's becoming so much much more elaborate to become the person who climbed copy so there's been an uptick in death of people are climbing because they're trying to do it for speed and break these as world records and so I think there does critique the acceleration at which people are trying to be the most extreme ever with whatever that might be so? That's in there. Yeah it's interesting. Yeah other than that. It's more armchair. Freud Yeah Tim Tim climbing for a long time. So there's plenty of time to think about after that when we get back from break We have new film by Ricky Ambrose along with some of his short art films. Because it's a sixty minute feature called notes on an appearance this is this is this is heavily risconsin. East Coast. Art Film. World has work. Yeah curious it feels very much it has it has a certain Rica Manhattan to it. Okay Brooklyn S. Manhattan. Oh It's Manhattan. I would say I don't know the guy I mean. Different things are different now. We don't say that we say I. I knew I don't have it yet. You don't do okay all right. So yeah but he's so. Where is he ben? I mean is he just kind of his up and showing in Lake experimental festivals. Or is it. Is it more narrative. Based it's this one is loosely narrative. But it's it's some people who there's a reclusive scholar and people on the search for him and I forgot why he disappeared. What's going around? And so it's about about that journey I think he's been This is this is grasshopper so it's not like he's yeah. Yeah UNSEE scene but Yeah he's he's done general festival things but this wasn't at Toronto or anything. I don't think I would doubt it. I was just curious where he comes from because they just again. I'm not as familiar with them. In a short films are nice to so we'll show that and see if it hits an audience. I think that in permanent green in life are similar wavelength. Okay after that we are showing on the basis of sex. This is the Bio pic doc about Ruth Bader Ginsburg a supreme court justice in the United States Supreme Court We're doing this with the law school as part of their her students weekend and it's open to the public as well. We'll have a discussion about her life and times and a lot of accents other big accent. Is that your recommendation for the film. I haven't seen it yet but I just know in the trailer. It's Felicity Jones who has the loveliest little British accent due in Brooklyn. So just be ready for that and it's armie Hammer who is a man. One of many. He's a tall..

"It can ask you. What's it like seeing him back there? And you know, how how has it been to see him racing? Great. You're not quite few times. But it's. Here in the field is amazing thing. You know, he he cheap so much since his accident that some believable, you know, I think he's accident normally for everybody would have been something that would have bringing down thing he brought new life for him. You know, new new things, and he's making the most of it. And you know, he's still blood a quick. From that dark day in two thousand one. Not much. You don't mean? I wasn't there. You know what? I mean. I think I remember everybody else that you know, the hide happen. You know, the spinning and everything, and it just you never thing is going to go, you know, dot big of of an accident. But you know that happens. Holly right down here in the front. Holly Kane from the NASCAR in the wire service. I wanted to ask you kind of your thoughts and your expectations coming in. And what's going to be like to co drive with some fantastic teammates here are expectations to win. And you know, I think that we have a platform to do that. If you look at the success that the team had last year is new team coming in and learning curve to catch up to the other teams. I think they didn't amazing job of that and already going into two this year. There's a lot of talk about how much you know, progress they've made. So I think that that's you know, a warrant for for good expectations. And these teammates are some of the best in the grid. I think and if you feel very fortunate to be able to have them to coach me up and give me up to speed quickly as possible guys. Thank you. Appreciate it. We'll see you soon. You know, what I think is really cool is is the fact that the Penske guys will bring over a driver another IndyCar driver from another IndyCar team in Alex Rossi. I mean, the the Penske guys are fulltime guys Castro visited Mongolia. Then you've got Cameron and Ricky Taylor when they do these around the clock things, you know. And and the fact they wanna bring another driver in. And there's a little cooperation there between the two IndyCar teams. I think is is terrific by bringing former Indy. Five hundred winner Alex Rossi over from Andretti's bunch to work with those Penske guys. I think that's very very cool. And of course, the reason why we talked to those guys as they have as good a chance as any to win this Rolex twenty four and they're always worth watching because they have the best -ment. And and some of the best drivers in terms of lineup so Castro Neves Montovia Taylor Cameron and Rosty. That's the Penske pod..

"Felt rejuvenated again last year was a new challenge for you. How did the first season obviously went really well. Well, especially having a kid and Ricky Taylor phenomenal kid and champion and more experienced than myself to be honest, basically. Yeah. So it's like who's qualified I'm qualified. No, I'm caught. So it's kind of like a big challenge between the two of us. It's it's it's it's great. I I as you saw me just I thing when I jump Ian in talking to you. I'm it is it is fun. It is I missed this. I wanna keep going as far as I can. And I and hopefully we can't. But definitely it's a new challenge because it's a new some new tracks new different cars like, for example, neck exercise is not as bad as for IndyCar because you don't have the wind pushing your head back because now we had windstream, but is still have the lateral force, which is very seamless. So he's still it's this position. They stealing, for example in need cars a little higher. This one is a little lower. So now you work in different. Shoulders it starting all over again. So, but it's it's great. I I'm just so blessed. I still racing. Yeah. I was kinda surprised when I looked at your career stats mean? Typically, a lot of IndyCar drivers. Even NASCAR drivers have sports card. Dalliances will they'll go run a few races here, and there and you hadn't run Rolex before last year. Right. I mean, you didn't you didn't really have very much experience. Did you? So was it a little bit of a leap of faith. I did never push it on to you know, they say, no, we'll we didn't want to do it. So I never actually push it. Because sooner they said, okay, we hire you to be an as quite driver. So we want to do it later on like come on guys. So many other drivers are doing can I do so and then trying to find a sociation because Chevy didn't want us to dry for right? All their brand. When we're Toyota they didn't want to drive on. So it was eventually not having a team probably made it hard. Yeah. It was always something. And and that's why I was not able to to do them in which. Is it's it's some fortunately because now. Well, fortunately, unfortunately, unfortunately, because they don't have the experience before twenty. Now, I'm able to join with Team Penske. Now, we're we're fulltime how much do you miss IndyCar? If it'll all and I do I mean come on years. It's like that ex girlfriend that had like come on. I still need to tell her. You know, I say, hey, Honey, come on. You know, that's the one more time. You know, like that sexy voice nights. It's I missed it. I missed it's hard for you to give up twenty years and all of a sudden like wipe that out from your memory. The good news is the transitions being phenomenal. Because now I'm still racing. At a point that is still, you know in my career field that can I can still be very competitive. And this is able to, you know, calm those arch of you know, should should do it. I should talk to Roger more often. But it it's that flames size being able to feel that. And and I'm glad because otherwise probably would be ended the press smoking drinking and be like, okay miserable. Is it partially to Elliott that so much of IndyCar seems to be, you know, I'm saying this as an employee of NBC, of course. So I'm going to be a little bit biased because we've got the whole schedule. There's a positive momentum around the series narrative seems to be hey, it's back. It's it's trending upward. And you were there through some pretty periods. Yeah. Is a sad at all in this kind of being from outside a little bit. Now, you know. I mean, obviously, they are a IndyCar. It got to a point that they're doing everything they can I feel that we have the best drivers we have the best competitive series. Incredible talent teams diversify it'll because remember not only driving in beautiful tracks..

"And then of course, you got gained Cameron and Ricky Taylor in Simon badger. No, I'll also part of the deal. So a lot of big names for your team. But one of the big names this year Elio is is somebody you also have with Alex and arty obviously you raised against him. When it was the cart series of what's it like to see your old friend got here. I couldn't I couldn't be more happier to be honest. When I heard that he is going to be part of a Daytona this year and. Guys. I I can't well can't it's not a his vocabulary. Right. This way does not exist. It's such any spray Spiratou for so many people. And and again as I was racing. He was already the champion their guy making moves at the corkscrew passing a harder in the last laugh, you remember that one. So an all of a sudden I'm racing against this guy. And it was an fortunately I was part of in the day that he was in an accident. So. It's a roller coaster for sure. But last time I saw him was at India five four or five years ago. And we're chat we talk about it. So it's really cool to see him back. And no question he is going to be again surprising. A lot of people with his talent and racing hand controls this year because of that horrific accident he did have in Germany in two thousand one where he lost his legs. He said you're in that race. I've been talking to some other IndyCar drivers Johnson belt was in that race Christian Fittipaldi, and they have some vivid memories, I presume all. Yeah. You remember it? Well ops. A little I remember when to turn one, and particularly unfortunate that we it was terrible was a black cloud nine eleven just happened. A lot of people worry about the families that was here in the United States. And we were actually in in euro. So nobody could fly remember Mike way. He couldn't get out of the the country because he was just a few hours to actually to fly to Germany. But anyway, so unfortunate was a bad. Week. And it was and when the accident happened that time a remember was. Was a car that my good friend of mine. Also, Tony Canales driving with Monan team. And I didn't know which car was so kind of like really looked who had the accident. And and when I saw the front of the car, basically half of the cars gone, and I kind of like not understood in a lot of Debry, which didn't quite look like was a piece of the race car. Well at the time, I didn't know it was, but it was part of his body. Jeez. However about that time, I did not realize what it was. And and I I was just trying to blog because I didn't want to look so that we can consider race. And particularly our performance was terrible. So after everything happens, we know we heard, and it was it was obviously a tragedy tragedy, and but amazing recover with this guy. And so happy to see him now in race against the guy again. Well, I mean, you saw it on the track Elia in that ninety six to nine. Eighty eight window when he was winning the most racist championships the pass at Laguna Seca, and the the corkscrew I mean that will to win seems like we saw that later in his life after that accent. Just so determined the guys it's amazing. And that's that's faith, faith and destiny. I would say he with his family, obviously, his wife and his kid nNcholas, and he's still able to spy so many people, and they will still see his son grow up, which by the way, he's attorney. Alan Miller was my attorney. So right. I kind of like knew a lot about it through Allen. And I'm glad island did all the things that he did to a cover special. Unfortunately, you never think about something like that happened. But someone at least always got up repair and lead that he was. Yeah. And he obviously had a second chapter in his life. After that accident. You have a second chapter now your career with being an I read somewhere recently that you said you..
