Philadelphia Phillies beat New York Yankees 11-7 at home to open twin bill

Yankees' Judge homers in fifth straight game

"Hitting very well. Barnes to judge Curveball. Fly ball deep left field way back there. Erin Judge. Adios, amigo. Always he hot, his second home run of the night. Air and judges guilt. Ricky Ricardo, Still filling in for John Sterling on Yankees radio show was one of the weather. I believe, though he's scheduled back tonight against the Phillies as Raj two homers last night. That one, breaking a tie in the eighth got the Yanks and 97 home win over the Red Sox Judge has homered in five straight. His team has won six in a row. Anyone know, dear We know that you have a good week, I would ask judge this for an entire season. Since that has become the reason I I love it. "Here by your side I'll be to two o'clock I'd Ricky Ricardo Kyle Quinn takes over the producing duties from Kevin Keenan back at twenty four hundred Market Street here in the Philadelphia I am at home in the central Florida here at my studio at that my home that will keep you company till two o'clock about several things on the docket tonight of the the match was played on Sunday afternoon for those of you that enjoy watching golf but it more than anything else just having competitors live competition on television live where you didn't know what the outcome was going to be a was very much a welcome sight today and we'll get into that with our guest Nick Fierro here momentarily tonight and I guess they're just about coming down to the wire but in Charlotte North Carolina NASCAR which has had several races this week I guess or try to catch up for lost weeks they have their signature Memorial Day weekend race the coca Cola six hundred and that's that's still Gladden finished yet got a couple of rain delays so that's coming down to the wire the obvious thing that all these events have in common is that there are no fans in attendance now you know golf is another one of those sports where the the fans you know it's probably one of the easier sports to to have to produce and to you know to be able to exist without fans I I'm I'm not sure you know how much golf depends on the gate on ticket sales and merchandise and and things of that nature for their revenue stream as compared to some of the other sports so it wasn't VAX strange you know watching the golf today with no fans because you know the if the fans in golf is is kind of secondary specially on television as compared to some of the other sports this is going to be a very important week for the baseball negotiations because let's face it folks the clock is is ticking and if they intend to have a part two of spring training in the month of June to be able have baseball you know hot dogs apple pie and fireworks on the fourth of July and try to you know bring back some some big time morale to this country up by independence day well then they better get their shop in order here in the next few days so that they can basically spend the month of June with the draft and spring training and then get ready and reassemble everyone for the two thousand and twenty version of the baseball season for that first weekend in July eagles always make news year round so does the NFL in the golf and Nick fury knows a little bit about every thing all of that and much much more rights for the Allentown morning call of course is one of our good good friends enjoyed just once again now Nick I understand that you are also out playing golf today although not at a course as nice as the one that tiger and Phil Tom and paid more no not not really but a good one we coat the golf club Jennifer county and is really good what I wrote your stuff did you get a chance maybe to watch some of the or did you get back in time to this thing didn't have the like eight o'clock with all the bad weather did you watch the the the charity match from medalist at all today no I didn't actually got back right around eight because we had a late start and everything and so I didn't but I you know I read a little bit about it there have alley was very popular and others a lot of trash talking and go Tom Brady was exposed right yeah it's and although it may only be made out of gold out from under twenty five yards but didn't do much else and it is and gag he could win the match which I think you you asked me last week who I thought was going to win I did predict the winner there was no science behind that that was just me you know throwing a dart at a board but yeah I guess it was been really really good contact by way everyone you know by everyone's account including people are watching I I was looking at my Twitter feed in my Facebook feed and lot of people are we're kind of commenting it it was very similar to the last dance it's just kind of long as it was going as it is going in and making comments all the way and I wish I'd seen it out I'm sure I will because you know don't don't replay this you know on golf channel or whatnot whatever whatever and you know I thought maybe I'd see it while I got home at or a replay but they haven't they've been shown this wider crops yeah but with three thousand twelve Ryder Cup for whatever reason I don't you know well I'm not sure why let's get to let's get to the shady McCoy rumors anything to this what you're hearing as far as the show and we'll do that number one to the eagles even need another running back right now dot or is are they considering themselves short at that position what what's the deal here with with running back McCoy the possibility of it coming back to the birds yeah I think the whole thing is miles Sanders you know while it whether he can stay healthy or not I mean if if the running backs that they have now stay healthy there's really no probably not a need for a guy like shady McCoy or Freeman but you know what I mean we saw what happened last year by the end of last season center to take a beating you know here you know and he was really Asia is gonna be fine by the start of this year probably will be but you know K. Kenny hold up an end of somebody if he gets hurt you know and what do they have their they have another guy who they might be able to turn to we also heard all the time and and they also have you know Boston Scott who's kind of a change of pace guy but you know Corey Clement is he going to be the guy that you turn to or you already have a shady records even in the worst of times the last couple years has not missed a lot of games you know with injuries so are you going to pre durable guy at brands pretty dependable back it's just a matter of you know can he accept his role his role would be really you know where as back up and and so on I'm not really sure you know how interested they are in bring him back but from what I understand and I I guess they're going to have to make some kind of because our I don't know that it all are great thank you Carol Corey Clement could be the guy or you know any of these young drafted rookies that they brought in for only here who's on the tribunal last year you know it's one of those guys going to be the the main back if if miles Sanders goes down so now there's this group will provide certainty there so maybe they could do something but you know all who maybe they they wait until closer to training camp or even after training camp starts whenever that may be now and the re didn't you you know didn't use him in the biggest games of the year last year you know he went with with Williams as his running back in Kansas city and if I'm not mistaken I don't be shady even was activated or dressed for the AFC championship game in the Super Bowl is that an indication that that maybe his you know is better days or I don't want to see is washed up but that you know of a is he still a viable back yeah let's start the raises the question for sure he was having a pretty decent season they nami was used pretty productive I mean his yards per carry were actually up but you just wonder you know if if you need help with running backs in the league this week you know what when you hit a wall I said I mean it's are you maybe hasn't hit it yet but when you do have it there's like no warning signs that we need to all of a sudden for the most part you know you're you're going along one day then all of a sudden you can't get it done anymore and so you really want that to happen and so I think with a lot of these things should be included in and some of these other things that veterans they might be considering signing of it comes down to dollars and cents and a risk reward type of thing effective dates radiator electric crisis a crisis does insult him you know I mean I heard being you're also seems all time rushing leader maybe they could bring him in but you know are they don't have a lot to spend here you know they have to okay would cap this year but they they need to be able to carry some over to next year they're really going to be in trouble so they can't be throwing money away a grandparents who you know might be you know not be ready to play anyway and so okay all right if they really have to watch himself perfect with that but yeah I do think that so you know big question mark B. R. miles Sanders as far as the you know if something happens to him but I I really feel that that they can make these this move later that I don't think that that shady al gore the body cream it would necessarily be you know snapped up by the time they would you know I have to do something like that they can always you know make an adjustment later but you know I did I don't yeah I drew a small crowd to doubt about you know with core quality the guy would go out Michael Warren you have the the guy he's one of the address the creations I think has a good shot of making the team but yeah that that's really yeah I don't lose their credibility moves a kid from Notre Dame two years ago that ended up as the lead back his name is gave me now from her name yeah it would've been the lead back for the eagles two years ago Adam Adams it won't warning he end up yeah Kyle who was first thing Josh Adams Josh Adams one of the other yeah good luck with the giants right is he still a giant I believe so okay he's a jet right now is a jet yeah okay okay I was not the driver yeah that's what he wants to do it with your but yes that's right how quickly we forget about I was the big guy you know he is he's got a house images too that's the thing you look like yes really good outside and then all of a sudden he was hurt and so but yeah he was actually there leading back that's right he let them in your hearts they had all kinds of problems that position and and that he was going on but I I do think that Sanders is going to be okay you know I don't know if he's guilty or he's got it's always backed up by the pope will pour we saw him at locker clean out the east you think look like like a cartoon character like you know Bob Wiley coyote going off a cliff or nothing at all wrapped up in the crutches you know I I I couldn't begin to tell him but he was smiling and he was happy at the you can but other than that yeah I wonder if that means you know you and I think that they're going to try to lean more on him this year so the barometer backup for speaking of backups Joe Flacco gets I believe a million and a half boy how things have changed I have after remember the contract he signed after winning the Superbowl but Flacco who won't be able to take a snap until possibly what late August or early September you know finally gets a a backup gig with the jets yeah I'm not so I you know I guess that's a good one place for him yeah there was talk about the eagles are trying to sign in but I don't think it makes sense for the eagles to record especially after they drafted in on hers but yeah I.

"Oh five Saturday night in that big band city of brotherly love radio ninety four W. I. D. I. Ricky Ricardo we're here until at ten o'clock we will keep you entertained and informed the really the headline of the day as far as the world of sports is concerned is the conference call that all the commissioners had with the president of the United States this afternoon the headline that came from that a conference call in that conversation was a basically the president saying that he believes the NFL season can start on time in in September his beard that's wishful thinking then so be it but look I hope he's right and that trump also said that he hopes to have fans back in stadiums and arenas by August and September so the possibility still exists of maybe having some games played in the in stadiums without fans to begin with we we no one really knows as we just deal with this on a day to day basis but my buddy Tommy Kay Lee who is a a right handed fire balling relief pitcher for the New York Yankees but forget that we have for our audience with Tommy Kaylee really is is probably the biggest wildest craziest Philadelphia and well informed by the way Philadelphia Eagles fan that I have ever met and a big wrestling fan to probably get ready for night number one of of WrestleMania Tommy how are you my friend Hey radio go I'm good man just by getting ready for WrestleMania air all right now Tom you bet before before we discuss the eagle you know free agency moves so far what you like what you don't like a little preview of of of WrestleMania two nights of tonight and tomorrow with with rob Gronkowski is the host I I've got to get into the mind of a fine tuned athlete like yourself you know we were together in spring two ning as were you know every team in Florida and Arizona but a guy like you was you know you do you have a throwing program which started you know back in January February you guys are like a fine tuned machine and everything you do on a daily basis has a purpose has a meaning in it and it's all you know to to get ready for for opening day and your you try to be you know as as to the day as you possibly can in preparation to the to the very day you guys you know you you will rest one day I'll throw another you run this that Bubba I want to get into the mind of an athlete like you when the rug is basically pulled out from under you you know overnight because I I remember the team was I was with the team is on the east coast of Florida the if they were playing a couple of exhibition games in Jupiter and in Palm Beach while you guys the veterans were back in Tampa in Tampa but they did but all of a sudden Tommy you get this news that spring training you know because we really didn't have much warning about this week there were rumors circling in and some people were starting to talk but then all of a sudden bang here it is spring training is over it's canceled you know your body was in a certain point of preparation ready for the season you know how difficult was it just to turn everything off at the drop of a dime it was tough man there is it wasn't easy I mean I know a lot of guys kept doing the same stuff that we do every day I mean I know I could I kind of figured expended little break just because we had not knowing it was it was just kind of came out of nowhere who's already in the face meanwhile in the it sucks I'm not alone how does a guy like you keep in shape now knowing that Hey they could say okay we're we're back in in in Florida for more spring training I don't know I'm gonna throw a date out let's say you know if they told you you know we'll be back on god willing may fifteenth let's say your June first and you've got a couple weeks to get ready is there really enough time abbreviated for pictures like yourself to get ready quickly to get some sort of season on the way home I mean I feel like I won't have an issue with it I mean I've been throwing if I have to tell my backyard here internet I've been doing that just the but often go out in front of find people up so well but I mean I feel good only god can double pending stuff and I know it could be I think if you cover for the starters unlike the relievers to be honest yeah build up their pitch counts again and I think it's just it can be a copper copper stars get acclimated as far as the notion of playing if we had to Tommy and I think we're heading in that direction if we had to play games and it's going to be tough to play games in New York City which is you know the it's it's where the the covert nineteen has has had obviously the most rabid effect but could you in your mind could you could you play games in stadiums with no fans even if it's for a week or two yeah I mean I would I wouldn't see why not I would do that wouldn't bother me I just want to play some good pretty border so so what yeah it's your body would say the same thing well not quite so most guys you think would be okay with with kicking off the season even if it's you know you guys together quarantine together as a group or what you're basically are during the season anyway but even tighter and if we had to play games let's save regular season games in Florida away from you know from the home city just to get this thing rolling to get our country back rolling again you'd be okay with that yeah I'll be I'll be perfectly fine with it that's good to hear all right let's shift our focus to the you're going to let let's shift our focus to the team that you that you love the most and that's the the the wings on the helmet your Philadelphia Eagles give me your take it looked into some of the time ladies and gentlemen I'm an Eagle broadcaster and there been days when Tommy tells me what how we've moved in a war or are going to be before I know give me your take on everything that Roseman is done in the offseason the the free agent signings of Malcolm not being there Jason Peters not being there what's your take on all things birds so far I think it's been a pretty good all soon to be honest I mean there's obviously we let go a couple better guys and but I like the where you going trying to get younger I mean it's definitely a big thing that they have just started doing games and I really was impressed with the the trade for sleigh and then also the signing of Robey Coleman notify the happy that he he realize there's been a little struggle there last few years with the secondary so elixir beaten up do you are you all are all are you okay with the addition on the defensive line and really concentrating on the defensive side of the ball until maybe we get to the draft we can start turning his attention to the offense yeah I like it I like a lot especially I remember like you just said the defensive line bringing it harder to the big big addition chorus I was hoping hoping that they would bring another path a pass rusher but I know it never know it by one in the draft loser it seems like there's always an abundance that come down or or would you would you make the deal for the U. for the jaguar linemen got quite high if they couldn't find the right deal without having to give up the first round pick I would love it if it was next year's number one would you do it I figured probably would to be honest I think I would thank god it is a free and getting younger at the end position was only just make it even better for us all right do you do you you know I have to ask you do you have your slate Jersey yet no not yet but I will I will be coming now this all right yeah I believe me I know you what what one of the next five the next five jerseys you're gonna order slay who else man Robey Coleman I don't know if I will get Robey Coleman but definitely gonna get sleigh I need to bring a grandma they just don't sell I understand so you you need a brand new Brittany Graham will have like five years you're you're I know you wanted I grease one and I just trying to find the one for you it's so you so you can get your researchers he all right Dow draft wise all right you want a receiver or do you want do you want to shore up the secondary where should how we go as far as first round well I mean now that he went out and you know drafted I mean sign the two corners are traded well worn inside the other I think I'm big going with the receiver if they can get it the only guy there I would say you gotta go and dress the linebacker position with epic at the first round linebacker yeah I think so there's there's some good ones out there all of the receivers available who's your favorite my favorite yeah to be honest I think it's taking but I don't know if he'll fall that far down well if there's one guy that might fall it's taken from Clemson because he figured to Alabama guys are going to go you know you know yeah they're going to they're going to go by yeah Jefferson from LSU is good he may be out of the picture by the time you know do you be honest but yeah I'd I'd love to say we haven't looked at I'd love to see tee Higgins in an eagle uniform myself all right tonight it did this is you know as important as as you know just having something to focus on but the way the W. W. E. tonight is providing people with entertainment and I get it it's it was supposed to be you know right down the street here at Raymond James stadium S. seventy five thousand people it's a spectacle you know wrestle mania is the Superbowl World Series all rolled into one for wrestling but but tell me just how important do you think it is that the that the sporting public whether they're big wrestling fans are not has any event something to take our attention away here for the next couple nights let's start with that fact alone yeah I mean I think it's a good thing you know that's what I'm gonna be a lot more views than usual just because there's going to be so many people at home and I think I mean this is why not.

"ricky ricardo" Discussed on So it's a show?: keeping up with the Gilmore Girls

"I thought that was pretty clever. Twist at the end of the episode. Yeah and that they showed up just to laugh at him will end the back story on. That is apparently that was pretty subversive at the time it had been pretty. We know I mean. Most sitcoms were pretty white at the time and then at the end of the episode when they're back in the Present Day Dick Index. I still think we got the wrong kid. That other kid is as you know. The Peter's boy is doing really well at school and ours is not an apparently that theory subversive to suggest that an African American child would be doing better in school than a white child. It was very like sounds like it was. They were not sure that audiences would accept that but it went over will You know that just runs me. I was looking at busy Phillips instagram today. No she was on lots of things white chicks and Dawson's creek the leader seasons and she said something this weekend at an event you speaking at a and it was something like. I'm very used to exceed the expectations. And how as a woman she's felt like less is expected of ourselves. Wow you produced this. Oh good job even so that just made me think of that where Oh African American child is doing better than this white child. WHOA I know that expectation expectation obviously shouldn't be there but but if they push that yeah well and that the idea that they had been on the same hospital floor for that a white and black couple could they could give birth just a few rooms away? Yeah all those little details that I I mean I would have never. Yeah I know all of that. has been edgy but apparently edgier than ever Levin and maybe Edgier for good reason instead of an angsty yeah any other highlights you remember from these episodes of Dick Van Dyke and giving me we'd we haven't even gone until like what the funny was because it just wasn't as good as yes. I Love Lucy but basically Dick kept on sleeping in his suits so he would be ready to go and it was the same thing when when when he thought it was ready to go when Mary Tyler Moore you know moved or something. He would like freak out and nothing one as it should have so. Yeah kind of very similar. Comedy I- storylines in both of these And when it's finally time to go to the hospital there's just complete chaos basically Dick isn't wearing his own pants. That's that's nonsense. And they have to call they call. No they end up going in a laundry truck Which is what Little Ritchie remembers while not from the day but being told smart kid that one so I wonder Dick Van Dyke if the Dick Van Dyke show like was inspired by as opposed to stole from I love Lucy was just kind of the similar themes but you know I was was trying to look up other birth episodes on TV at that time? And like I mentioned earlier I realize most. TV shows scrolling through all the list of sitcoms from that time they all had their kids already so there weren't birth episodes because they already had you know the the classic American Family Mom Dad boy girl boy whatever and things like the Donna Reed show already had kits the Brady Bunch. Kids are already there. Leave it to beaver. All the kids already grown an talking. So Andy Griffith opium is already there. Yup So there weren't a lot of birth episodes and actually the the first SITCOM DOT com to show a woman pregnant and actually to show a couple sharing a bed. Many people. You think it's the Brady Bunch I always did. It was actually Mary. Kay and Johny which was based off of a real life. Couple do just like I love Lucy and they played husband and wife. Irl and on their show the end it aired from nine hundred forty seven to nineteen fifty and she's pregnant on the show. Let's see the description I got from an article about. It was America's his first television Sitcom started real married couple as Zany wife and a relatively normal husband trying to stop her from causing. Too much mayhem. Oh Wow that definitely sounds like a TV. Show I've probably seen. Yeah one thing. Though it was not recorded it was broadcast live. And there ars just a couple. I think there's one episode that they do have a copy of someone does but they would just the TV stations would just record it over it so there isn't record about it there. You can't watch it anymore but and I can tell you I love. Lucy was is one of the first to pioneer recorded episodes because they wanted to film in L. A.. Not New York and so they decided what film it ahead of time. Time not putting on the scope. That doesn't stick around today anymore and that way. That's why we have it in syndication and I'm sure Lucy and Desi Arnez and their children are very grateful because whose parents or you them yourself has a copy of I love Lucy seasons. My mom has a few We do so smart thinking forward thinking They were good at marketing. Like I said they knew how to use their so. Oh Yeah not a lot of birth shown actually Rachel's birth or phoebe birth. I forget which one but on friends was one of the first. Like really real raw showings really birth on TV. Yeah I re- I remember knowing that growing up so if I could be wrong. But that's it's like Ben in my head and then I was actually talking to my mom about These episodes and right away. She said we'll friends. They had birth episodes like that was the first one so yeah phoebe would have been. I don't think we see her giving birth right. She just this does it. We see her in labor and we see her post birth with the triplets. I think we'll see pushing. We definitely see Rachel doing doing that. And there is a very to speak of DADS who keep freaking out. Ross is a lot more chill than brick and partly because he's already had a baby before but there's a part where he trips and hits his head while they're in the room as she's she's giving birth and he's like Oh. You have no idea how much this hurts. Rachel and the doctor just looked at him. Like are you kidding. Me Mhm Boys Yeah and then at the end in the very last episodes you are with Barracuda Aka the birth mother of Chandler and Monica's twins wins spoiler alert. Yeah Yeah and they discovered. There's a second baby in that moment. How'd that get? Oh I thought whenever he said heartbeats WHO's talking about mine in the baby's Gosh. Oh that's a suspension of justly for sitcoms. Yeah for sure so these I would say I don't know about you. But these episodes fit pretty well with Jackson's description. There are some things that don't totally lineup but I fell out of Salaam similarities. You you You definitely see Ricky in the waiting room with other dads in Fred waiting around To wait to meet their babies. I think they're smoking in their. Yep Not cigars but cigarettes And you do not see Dick Van Dyke do that though he really just see pre birth and post birth. Yeah but they're both well. Ricky Ricardo did succeed in wearing a suit Dick Van Dyke however lost his sued in the craziness and he was wearing a suit after she gave birth. So maybe he went home and left like Ricky Ricardo dead and then came back later. Yeah we just don't know we didn't get to see him pacing Until a pretty nurse in a nice wideout but but would come say congratulations. It's a boy. And in the I love Lucy. There was a nurse wearing a white outfit And she was horrified horrified by Ricky's appearance in his makeup which was also pretty funny. She brings the police to come back and try and find him. Yup and In the I love Lucy Lucille. And says you can't be where where I am to a rookie telling him to go to work. which is just crazy to me? Like you wouldn't want to be there. At least I guess at the time you're not allowed. Yeah actually I saw talked to both my parents about about this about. Where is this what happened with your parents where there and mostly my mom will first of all my Nanno and she gave birth to I think at least two of her three kids? My mom included. She they knocked her out she just woke up and the baby was out. Wow so that was something they did for a little while. Now it's like experience the wonder of childbirth And the her. My Mom's dad wasn't there it kind of just got me thinking about like how even like how the disconnect of a father with their child used to start even when they were born learn. You know like there wasn't the expectation of them being there to see them even like an. I Love Lucy. Ricky met his son through the glass. Didn't even hold holdem and that just lake. You had that just that felt so strange to me and Sad sad right like can make up being there. No one yeah it kind of makes me think no wonder that Dick Van Dyke wasn't sure he had the right kid 'cause he barely saw him at the hospital. Yes exactly it makes me think of to how things have changed you and I both like Jane. The Virgin and shortly after Jane gives birth spoiler alert. Not really and when Rafael I want to get to know Matteo. He like make sure to like hold the baby with his shirt off so it would like help with Barn Dean and that Kinda anything so he was being very intentional about trying to bond with his baby getting to know him very early in his life whereas I think the at least the nineteen eighteen fifties cliche was that dads were a lot more hands off. Yeah and my mom talked about men would never change like a diaper that that was not something that Dad's did when she was growing up and now if guy isn't changing a diaper than hello there that is very strange. Come on be a team player. Yes exactly because it is. It is tea mark but there's also essentially really you know equal opportunity for men and women to get jobs and have careers. At least you can have that. There are plenty of barriers but it's like accepted so whereas then at my house my mom said to me like a woman was home all day. So what also also they gonNA do. That's of course I watched Another episode of I love Lucy after the birth episode. Just because I like that show a lot lot and I just wanted to keep watching it in. It is funny as you watch Lucy and Ricky try and navigate whose responsibilities are what so obviously Lucy was already staying home and Ricky was working But it is funny. They start negotiating about who gets up with the baby because initially it's just lucy every time and she's like please. I need so much help. And he's like well. I have to go to work. And then they're like okay. How about this who who ever? Here's the baby cry. I has to get up and get the baby and of course they both start pretending the other that they are not awake. So the or the person will give up Eventually Lucy Caves and gets up this. She wakes up the next morning. Well Ricky wakes up the next morning a and she's like her head is in the crib. She's like bent over the side of the crib a A good physical comedian saga. So good yeah. But yes the expectation is. Yeah the MOM's GonNa do all the work on the baby and it has to be a discussion about if dad will do anything at all.

"This was a fair. Twenty three lead changes in ten sixty three point lead about halfway through the third. And then all of a sudden the Sixers lights went out, Mark NBC sports, Philadelphia. Sixers went eleven minutes and forty two seconds without scoring a bucket last night. That's nearly the length of an entire quarter. It was a dreadful second half in a one thousand nine hundred ninety eight lost to the match, and you could see more energy in the magic. And you guys in the second half. I think they've played with a more sense of urgency background squad losers of two in a row. Joel Embiid went scoreless in the fourth quarter. But before that KYW's, Ricky Ricardo got one more conversation with the iconic Larry Bowa LA's legend, Larry Bowa was a spring training instructor from day one. I asked him what he thinks strengths are of this particular group. Well, obviously the strength is the offense because the length of it. There's no easy outs. "And legacy of Dexter. Gordon? Fulfills the promise Maxine major husband to complete his biography, Maxine will be at the new York Public Library discussing sophisticated giant on Tuesday March nineteenth. She and I spoke recently take a listen to our conversation. Do you know why he wanted to write his own biography? Well, actually in the beginning. He wanted to do it with James Baldwin that was his idea and he called him. He knew him and Baldwin a good idea. But he said, I'm not well, so go ahead right at yourself and Baldwin died in December that year, and then Dexter thought about doing it with somebody. And then he thought no acrobatic I could read it. And so we were living in Mexico, and he began it began writing his autobiography. Not exactly the way, I do the book, but he had an idea. It's interesting. We had the director of archives for the Louis Armstrong house and Ricky. Yes. That's my guy. I love Ricky Ricardo. He's the best. Of course, you know, Ricky Ricardo. What was I thinking? Great. And he was saying that Louis Armstrong wrote down for it. He used to say for posterity that he had a very he had a sense of his own place. Jerry, Dexter have that sense of his own play. I think he might have gotten it from being with Louis Armstrong and also about writing letters because Louis Armstrong travel with a typewriter and wrote letters, and you know, in the chapter on Louis Armstrong, very influenced by him, but not so much his personal idea by posterity, but about the musicians and the music he oh, he thought like in a broader way about jazz, and the people who didn't get the attention. He felt they deserve. It's great in the book. There's all sorts of there's passages that are Dexter when he wrote of Louis he said with Lewis was love love love that was what it was all about all love. He was just beautiful always beautiful. It was just a gas being with him. He let me play all the time. He. He really dug me who are some people who who are really important to Dexter and in his career development. That's such a good question. Thank you. The first one would be Marshall Royal who was with the lentil Hampton band and gave him his first job, and that relationship Dexter said I had a job before it could really play the saxophone. And he thought they would send him home every night. And he was he left high school. He was a senior to go on the road. And so he always thank Marcia, Royal. And he got a chance to thank him at the black Oscars. You probably read about the Blackhawks care, so. He him. And you know, he thanked count Basie thank Lester young. He was always thanking somebody. But if he had won the Oscar, which we know that Paul Newman one. He was going to thank one person. And that was Louis Armstrong. Oh, well, you know, he said instead of listing, you know, people like people do he said we must be grateful to Louis Armstrong for being the first to put this music out in the world. One of the things you write the Dexter wanted to tell the story of black ex-pats. Jimmy Paul's went a story about how America didn't necessarily embrace and pushed away creative black people. Why was it important for him to talk about this topic? Well, sometimes in jazz history. They would mention that that he was fourteen years living in Europe, sixty two to seventy six and they would kind of frame it as if it's lost years. You know? But in fact, used to not lost that he worked all the time much more than he would have worked had he been here. Plus he felt. In a way, free of racism and the constraints of being in this country. But in another way, I mean, it's you're not free from the constraints just because you're living in Europe. But it is another approach and also he had time to think and greed and reflect but at a certain point one to come back. So he made that move and came back and it worked out. Well, we're talking to Maxine Gordon about her book sophisticated giant now. Please correct me if I'm wrong from all the research, you went back to school to study because you really wanted to do this in scholarly way. And you really wanted to learn more. What were some of the things that you learned while you were in school that you were able to use the tell Dexter story. Well, the first thing is research method. So I was very fortunate. I had a fellowship damn why you was Robin. Kelly Robin, Kelly is foremost historian, one of the former. Story and some African American history, and he wrote the book on the loneliest smock among other books. The greatest book is called freedom dreams to me. Then he he wrote. However, he ate he taught he was the chair of history at NYU, and we have to learn method. So it it I didn't know how to do that. But I did an African American history and cultural history because you can't really to me write about jazz without writing MAC, black cultural history. And so I wanted to be sure I was always complaining about what wasn't in other books. And then I think it was revenue said, well, you know, put it in your book. So I, you know, I learned the method, but I also learned. I mean, I had six years to read a lot of books. It's interesting. I you had to go through a peer review process at one point and academic press. And one of your peers didn't quite understand. Oh, yeah. You read that? Understand talk to me about that process of working with your editor and sticking by your guns, the thing. Yeah. This is the way it needs to be. It's not just going to be a time line to dictate. Right. Well, the when I went out peer review, I'm not sure what that means. Because you know, are they really are Pierce. But anyway, when I went out the first reader didn't like the his I talked back taxes family history. He didn't like the part about political economy where I talked about contracts and money in publishing. He didn't think I needed that. He wanted more personal information about me, and Dexter, and you know, it's not that kind of book. And so what I said was I I didn't think he was the right reader, and they agreed. So that worked out, and then the next person was Scott devoe who revealed who he was sometimes they're anonymous they can be but he revealed them. Shelf, and he's a big scholar bebop he the history of bebop. So that was great. It's interesting in listening to describe the way you wrote this book who do you who did you want to read this book? And who do you think could really benefit from reading this book? I really wanted people who didn't know next to to not just fans the fans, we know they're gonna read, and they we have what we call the jails police, and they know insult, but they you know, they will find what's not there that they wanted their, and they know everything and they'll find a mistake. I did have a mistake about George Gershwin sorry. But I wanted people first of all people who there are people who loved the film round midnight who didn't know who Dexter was their film, people French film Bertrand Tavernier people I wanted people who never heard of him, but we're curious and people maybe who were interested in jazz. But don't I don't want them to feel excluded with you know, sometimes what hap-? Around jazz is because you have the inside group that people feel like they don't know enough. And I remember when we were kids, and we like thought we were like the jazz kids people were like, meantime us, you know, what a hero. No anything. And you know, but we stayed in there. And I just want people to know, you can love this music without being an authority the name of the book is sophisticated giant. We're speaking with Maxine Clark, Gordon, its author sophisticated giant. It's a great title because he was six foot five SAIC depending on who's measuring. That's so interesting. Do you think that really had any sort of impact on his career? I know that's an odd question. But I'm not an our question. Yeah. Definitely he said he used to make a joke. There are two tenor players who are great who are short shorter than me. I'm five three or maybe I'm left some factory now. But anyway, there are two great tennis players and he often played with them. So you can imagine. You know, there's like five foot two hundred six and he'd say, you know, you'd make more money and be more famous if you're taller and everybody would laugh, but really he said it had a lot to he felt that that had given him more opportunities and some people and he always saw people play better. There will always he was like, oh my God. I look out for him. He plays better than me. And I was like you play pretty good to get pretty well. It'd be like not good enough. So that was his way of thinking something. That's interesting is that when he wrote his work down, his his notes there were certain period, he didn't want to put in and you as the scholar you were even before you do you have to put in the tough stuff to right? Why? Well, you know, first of all in I talk about in the book. He when I we had a discussion or different about doing an outline he thought an outlet was so corny so linear. So you know, but I that. That argument which is unusual, and then he went from nine hundred forty eight thousand nine hundred sixty and he was leaving the entire decade, and after arguing he said if you wanted in the book, you have to read it yourself, and then there was never any mention of their period, but a friend of his who lived through that period with him said you have to put it in the book. I always wanted to. But it took a lot of research. Maxine, Gordon, it was a pleasure to meet. Thank you so much. I love your show love it..

"Radio dot com station. Welcome back. Everybody. We got the hot seat coming off. So far. Bill wine is not agreed with Eddie that I voted for the Screen Actors Guild, Paul. They're going to have out the show next week. The show is coming up. You got a boat. I think it Sunday. We are the ones that decide that you got to vote. Bahamian red sedan. I think I'm going to watch vice that's enough. What you've seen one or two of them. You can vote in every category. Don't want. You've even seen one of them. You can vote right? The good idea. No terrible idea. Don't wanna be here the whole hour, but don't say more than now. About for three hours. But on the line with us right now is a man having a bit of a controversy of his own. Information revealed earlier on our show about the great Ricky Ricardo now, the Spanish voice of the eagles. And the Spanish voice of the Yankees. The great Ricky Ricardo wreck. Kush. AOL miss. He asked branch. You heard that Harvick. I love that. All right. Where did you get back from? We'll get to it later. John gorham investigative team has uncovered a lot of information about you. Let me start with ROY halladay. We're going to take you back, your what may have been the greatest moment of his four year career in Philadelphia. Let's listen a record. Let's go. What? Thank you. Doc holiday. Could you ever done a perfect game before never that is Angela? I've gotta say it. I've done a lot of big moments in Philadelphia sports that one ranks right at the top on a Saturday night down in Miami. I when I pick the Phillies Hispanics, we didn't always travel, but that happened to be one of the trips that we were that we went on, obviously, you know, Florida near my home. I was doing I had a place in Miami back then and to have how are they doing? What was just impossible at night a perfect game and a very hot. It's very humid environment. And he was just on his game that night. Behind the plate who by the way, had a birthday after the same day holiday goes into the hall of fame. Just an amazing night Miami company. I'll never forget then we had a no hitter in a playoff game RIA said that was one of the most thrilling things you've ever seen live in persona wreck. Yeah, right holiday. How do we feel right now that he's going into the hall of fame? I'm upset about some writers that didn't vote for him. He got eighty five point six percent of the vote. Right. Who are these guys from Boston? Al guy. Navy five point. I thought this is both Tony should have been a little higher. But, you know, it's it's it's a wonderful honor for him, and, you know, his his wife and his kids. They'll be there at Cooperstown at John. And I imagine that the Philadelphia contention going up to Cooperstown that they will be here. It could be a great great thing. Rick. How do I reconcile in my brain the fact that while he was an incredible player? He died so tragically by you know, reckless piloting of a plane. How do I how do I separate those things record? I just look at it this way that was his other passion. You know, what's flying? It was an experimental aircraft. I have a cousin here in Florida who is an FAA inspector and actually ROY and his rating as a pilot was very very high. So he look he passed that at the other love of his life, which was aviation flying. So that that's really the only thing you can think of it as tragic as it was it was at least you were doing something that he loved right now. This conversation is about the taking ugly. Turn oh, boy, Mariano Rivera is the first ever to go in unanimous, Ricky. Greatest closer you've ever seen. Absolutely, no doubt about it. And as much as it hurts me to say that sorta off little ground ball shape. Victorino hit in game six of the World Series that that that goes to show you right there victory said that ball was coming right down the middle of the plate by the time. We took a swing at it and saw him all right at the hands of those just that little dribbler and the Yankees come away with the two thousand nine World Series, but Marianne or a very spiritual very religious guy. Yes. A gentleman just a joy to be around. And again in it's pre-training. He's always going to be instructors over a Yankee camp this one as you know, back then I was huge yankee's fan. I don't care about them at all now. But I hate it. I love them back then wreck two thousand one ninth-inning Arizona blows that game and disease. Two thousand four game for Fenway park. Yankees. Got it three oh leading games blows that one. How can you be unanimous with two of the worst losses? The franchise ever had just the way he was able to bounce back from those losses. For a closer. They've got to be able to put on a bad game aside and bounce back. And I get it. Those to two I think just excruciating losses that the play and he throws the ball away. Trying to get a guy out at second base. Eight blue that. And then the big Papi home run. It was so big moments in a Yankee Red Sox rivalry. But he was involved in all those big games at didn't matter even when he blew it. He came back. The next time. Got you say, I know Rick the next thing is something I'm revealing here that may not even know, and you know, him. Well, right. I mean, you guys you see him around all the time with the Yankees right as Mariana. Yeah. Right. So he was known our when he would come in from the bullpen. Day always played this song. And it's very.

"Good afternoon. Hard to match debtors from Ricky Ricardo, but that's the kind of game. It was on Sunday. And it's a Tuesday visited the marks reach Joe, Johnny barks. And I keep I agree with Johnny marks. Well, you know, we do marching towards the I hate the divisional round do. I mean, I don't like the name weird wild wildcard. We can make sense. Even though not everybody a wildcard team, we can as a good ring divisional round isn't roll off the tongue as well. Anyway, eagles are in it. That's all right. That's all that matters. And that's why we care you. Hell. Yeah. And Nick foles is in it. And that's why the national media care. New storyline. He is the story line is deal. Kids out there in Kansas City, get the plan Nick foles in the covers Telestrator what can the defending champs do for an encore? Nick foles is back, and he has these within this that story. He's called the ultimate role player. And it's pointed out that he's won four straight playoff games as an underdog four straight games to where the eagles were we're underdogs. It's amazing. Is he the eagles Eli? I've seen written about him today. Is he the guy that comes in and has a strange career in the NFL? Look at Eli barely a five hundred quarterback. Nick win wins and losses is better than that. But he lied the biggest moments where it's counties to Super Bowls. Right. Maybe he could even replace Eli up in New York. But here's a here's a fun question. Right. It's fun. But. What is like what is the falls? I think that's the biggest we talk about Nick. And we try to. Because. Turns into into Carson against Nick. And I wanna keep Nick and Carson, but you trade you get more via trade. What is Nick? I think if if you're talking about what you want to do with the future, you have to know what Nick is, Nick. And I think that's the that's the biggest issue. Right. And obviously it's early in the weekend. We have. A few days before we dive into this matchup that we certainly are going to get into this big game coming up Sunday. But when you look at the eagles, and what's the top story of this team other than the fact that they've some somehow risen from the ashes and find themselves in the second round in the playoffs. But even if you look at that that story, you can't get foreign Ed story without running into Nick foles. Nick foles is going to be the story storyline. He is the story line right now. Of the play offs to this point. And that that says a lot about Nick foles and what he's done in his career. And I think the question that you ask is a very good question that I don't think anyone has a definitive answer other than the results that you have in front of you that you can go to and spin them any way you want to other than those results. You can't really tell me what Nick foles is as a quarterback in this league today moving or moving forward. You say what you hope he is. And what you think he may be out the track record there is there is the the highest of the high. We saw that in February gets no higher than that. Right. And we've seen the lowest of the low with him where he's been benched for case keenum. Yeah. Yeah. It's been it hasn't been even that's for. Sure. Right. It's been it's been it's been up and it's been down. And it's been the extreme twenty-seven into throw ball MVP almost out of the league contemplating retirement Super Bowl MVP back down the being the backup. And no one's talking about back into the playoffs. It's amazing. If you look if you look at a graph of Nick foles is career you talked about the shop sharp up and then back down by stockmarket volatile. Yes. Like the stock market right now volatile. But but see, so here's here's the question for me. Because I I know what I believe with this. But is he is he legit? And I think everybody knows what that means. But is he what is showing right now, which is special is Nick foles a playoff winning Super Bowl MVP tight quarterback. That's going to leave here. Or who knows maybe stay here and continue to do this for the next couple years or is he going to go somewhere else? And maybe not as bad as what happened when he went to the Rams Ike break. But kind of just be like all right gets injured doesn't finish the season is ineffective gets replaced. What what is Nick foles is. He what we're seeing right now legit and special or is he closer to being a flash in the pan. I think he's closer to what we're saying right now. And here's why I say this. I think I think the moment makes us. I don't know. Exaggerate. How how good he's playing light because the gains is so important because the expectations were so low in the beginning, and it was almost like we're clean on to him for the hope and for him to keep the season going. So I think that makes every game that he wins. They win with him at the quarterback position is almost multiplied by ten based on what he did the is that are on this. You look at it and say, well, that's so big. If you paid attention to ten other games, you may not think you same thing. Exactly. You don't get the feeling coming out of those games. But that's something to be said about him playing in those moments when the games are the biggest right, right? That says something that he could be sorta at his best are certainly not be a detriment to the team. I mean, we can't think of a game where Nick foles in his short career woman. Eagles standpoint was in postseason play or big game small where he just didn't show up. Now, they may not have won every game. But it wasn't necessarily because of Nick foles. They didn't win the game. Do you remember when when Nick was on his run, and this is back in two thousand thirteen I guess with chip and he had the game in Dallas where they were terrible. And at that point, Mike the conversation. We were having in sports radio was did he take the job away from Michael Vick? And I remember at the time being like, yes, he did. He's the quarterback is a quarterback. He stinker against the Cowboys. He had a concussion in that game. Yeah. I remember. I remember after the game saying, I guess he's not that guy that you can't lose that game and show up his plays poorly. She didn't that game and be the guy. Meanwhile, he ended up getting another chance because Michael Vick got hurt again, stay healthy. And he went on another run through seven touchdowns after that. Seven touchdowns in a game. So you had the game off. Then I think he came back with the seven. Here's the funny thing about that. Right. Because it's not just fans. Right. It's up to us. Fans and media we like to go back and forth with each other. Because we communicate with each other rows here on the radio print media through Twitter. They go back and forth with their fans and followers us with the callers. We sometimes think that we need to pick sides or we are either hating on Nick foles, or we're giving him too much credit or whatever it may be. But. I'll never forget at that twenty seven to season where he left the field against the saints with the lead played very well for his first ever playoff game. Would you breeze over there? I thought he played well were being his first playoff game. One onto the Pro Bowl on the biggest stage with the biggest of all the stars in the league. Right. Was the Pro Bowl MVP? And I can remember chip that all season just some sarcastic smart remark like Nick's quarterback four thousand years next. Like, you knew when he said that he couldn't wait to replace Nick foles. He was looking to do it as the as he said that that he almost felt like he had to play him. No. He thought it was him and not Nick foles. Yes. It was his system. Yes. I can get Sanchis in there. I can Sam Bradford man, I can make that work. And that's why you had the opportunity to trading. You're right. Ate him. He traded him. But it reminds me of even after that year. Obviously there wasn't a Super Bowl. But man, he had just produced a year that none of us had ever seen before from quarterback around here after twenty seven and two and there were still people who didn't necessarily buy into what happens if they don't trade him. What happens with Nick does? He just because chip fell apart is Nick fall apart. You know what? I mean, if he if he stays here. Maybe he never comes back because he stays here for two years after that. And then he leaves he never comes back, and he never ends. He never wins the Super Bowl run eagles. I mean think about that. Yeah. You got think even that year? He was what six and two they use six until you good. Then finished a year. Right collarbone. I think it was let me phrase it like this for people. And I don't know if Ben put a Twitter poll out yet, but as see closer to the best backup in the league or or a Super Bowl level quarterback. And I know he just won the Super Bowl. But is he? He is he closer year after year for the next five years is he closer to the best backup in the league or top five quarterback Jit Super Bowl quarterback. Because here's what you have to be asking yourself. Right. Forget about what may happen Sunday. Forget about what may happen. The rest of the season where you had to be asking yourself when you're looking at Folsom moving forward. And we're asking the question. What is he what are you same as well posed? This question to yourself if Nick foles leaves here is he going to win the Super Bowl somewhere else. 'cause to me that would be the fear of letting him go right as if I believe he's going somewhere else and he's going to win a Super Bowl somewhere else. Right. Yeah. No. I mean, I I my biggest fear not even that just Google and his name in looking in reading stories this morning, the New York media now, and I've I've read two articles to where they're starting to connect dots. Well, ally my not not come back. What are they gonna do? Pat shurmur. Pat, Shurmur Senate tweet after the NFC championship game. The neck always knew you could do it or connect that Nick foles could be the quarterback of the giants next year. That makes sense to me. When Nick talked about being in a comfortable environment. He basically talking about being around familiar people stable franchise right from your coach offense city knows. Yes. Great skill guys. That's what he's talking. He's still in this area offensive line, not necessarily, but they can work on that six pick in the draft. Take the best office. That's that's with Nick leaving. My biggest fear is he goes to a team like the giants, right? Because that's a lot of on that team. I don't know. If Pat Shurmur is going to be the guy takes them to to to that level. But that's a good start bringing Nick up there..

"Remember when Ricky Ricardo you'd think I was making that up a new no Ricky Ricardo call Jake Elliott sixty one yard field goal. That was in the eagles twenty seventeen win over the giants. And it was the same. Same kind of a call. Let's see we have this one. Let's see we have this one. And well. You're not going to hear buck Owens getting passing. That's a pretty good. We'll just we'll just leave it at that. But I love that. What a call. What a call. Unbelievable. Now, this is a spoiler alert as I'm going to give. I always debate whether to do this be, but we are a full service show here. So if it's interest, I'm going to get to it. Here's my dilemma, here's what I debate in my mind, I'm thinking, well, do I really give you what happened with the college football national championship game that was played tonight. Because the debate is. If you're listening to me right now unless you were Walsh Inc tonight while you're watching the game. In other words, listening to our show while you're watching the game, you probably don't even have any. Interest in it. But then I say, I think well again, maybe you just want the score and in one invest three hours, you're interested. But she didn't want to invest in three hours of the game. So without further ado, a spoiler alert that I'm going to give you results from tonight's championship game, which took place, by the way at Levi stadium in Santa Clara home of the Santa Clara forty Niners. Sorry. Trevor Lawrence threw for three hundred forty seven yards. Three touchdowns is number two. Clemson smackdown. Alabama. Top ranked Alabama forty four sixteen in college football national championship game in the fourth consecutive planned meeting between the Tigers and the tide Clemson evening up the series beat Bama for the national title second time in three seasons. Clemson is the first team in the AP poll era, dating back to nineteen thirty six to finish fifteen and oh nice job. Clemson Tigers who knocked off my fighting Irish Notre Dame, so no small accomplishment. No coach next few fifteen and coach Nick Sabin and the tide in the fourteen to one looking for a sixth national championship at ten years. That's an amazing run trying to add to an are, of course, already unprecedented run in the sport. Instead, Clemson crashes. Bama becoming the first opponent to beat the tide by more than fourteen points since Nixon became the coach in two thousand and seven congratulations to both of those teams. But. So there you go. We were talking about the golden boar awards from last night. A couple more things I'm going to get off of that. And we're gonna try to give away some of these tickets. So during the show last night. Christian bale? If anyone saw if anyone actually watch this, pardon me. Yeah. Okay. And they're hurt yourself. Off the chair you Christian Hans Christian bale? Proceed doesn't mean bail off the chair Christian bale? Knows praising Christian bale beside you tonight. Kendall. You're an excellent company you and the church of Satan, very nice.

He through New Orleans, and it was just amazing. We need that for politics. Right. Could you imagine that just screaming and yelling just you know, like like, they would go and like Trump would say I'm not going to sign that. Though. Oh. So awesome. What a call. "We heard from Ricky Ricardo at some interesting tidbits about the Yankees who surprise it just as I was that. MTC came back. We'll talk to fall to Tina with twelve twenty eight to take on the giants as they go. Monday night football that should be ten. Can't wait visiting football. Pretends to be a washout of a weekend with the basketball team. On Saturday football on Sunday and Monday. Visiting thing to talk about give me about the going to Philly and this caught me off guard on that one goes somewhere with Philly. And definitely I think Tony Paige keeping the company. Right here on the fan in New York City Robbie how are you, sir? Tony. I'm good. I'm fired up for a football Sunday without the Vikings playing by week. I always get fired up for this week. So I can actually focus on watching all the other games especially on red zone. So I'm excited for that. I had in a long time ago, they gave it to me for free for one when winter and then they took it away. It's only like I think it's five bucks a month. But I think they on some some of those systems they sell like certain sports package included in sports package, or whatever. If I take away. I got like nine versions of HBO. If I go down to one I lose all these other channels, and like, especially my wife's files, but wife's getting tired of paying for because he said, I said, you're gonna lose AC TV. You know, what let them take it like, oh, jeez. On my parents for a while when we were growing up they would switch back and forth between horizon and cable vision, you know, just to get that free, whatever three to six months of premium movies, or whatever it was. And you know, we kept switching back and forth. So it was tough going back and forth and learning the different channels twice. Right. You learn you learn to pick it up eight seven seven three seven sixty six sixty six. Fantino way two or three or and JD takes over. So so the Knicks lose to the Rana was the Golden State, which we kind of. You know, just want to see if they can hang in there for a while. And they they did. But it's something about the club. You know, Steph curry goes down and Livingston goes down and green goes down. And somebody named Quinn cook steps up. He of the six point nine games for game next six point nine points per game. Average drops twenty seven on the team. A little bit of depth there. Go to. Going back and said we're talking twelve twenty. Let's go to brand and Middletown Brad, and it's very early for you. Very late time. All right, man. How are you? Talk to you about sports. Thank you. The papers today if I also. All that stuff. James paxton. Yep. Yep. What what kind of package? Together. Get taxed on from Seattle. What about? No, you don't want kid Felix. Is he had a we had a busy? He's losing velocity is not the same picture right now that you don't want him. You don't know. But I'm sure it's gonna anytime. Anybody wants to make a tray with the Yankees, you're probably asking for undue hardest started off. I don't want him to give him. I don't know. Why you don't sign a free agent, you know, carbon is he is he is he better or worse than than impacts it. I'm just about to say, you know, I I don't think I want to give up half the team just to get him. Because you've got you've got the. And the world. Jay. What did they make any you? Why they talk about the war. I have no idea. But here's the question was. Real bad shit. Somebody asked me last night. I I'd say no because then you toss up because I think he has a really good upside offensively. I think the surgery will help he'll he'll hit a lot of home runs again. But I keep digging. You know, why did he regrets such as a catcher that you can't block pitches in and has a power time would pass balls and that? His defense. I mean, we have multiple defenses better. But I gotta feeling the you can salvage he'd just say that word salvage Sancho Sanchez. I can't believe he's he's over the hill ready defensively. Believe that. Today. They hit the wall of miles. Bank. Right. About him. I know that he made bad is a good good defensive catcher. But you he'll he'll hold him out for the, you know, the the highest package she can get from whoever wants to pay. He's you know, he's not he's not settling for, you know, triple a class a prospects. That will always night idolizing better. But that's one I got. Now again in the paper about all golds, right? Paul. I go. Why not? Mike was talking to a three deal at thirty dollars. I I. Wait, wait, second half. To go. Look, what was all that. Good. Have what type what St Louis? He was over there. Thank you. Chad hit thirty home runs jab that. Hi to eighty. Contacted. Next book power, Ed all kinds of data. About a bird or? Yeah. He would. I mean, he he fit in. But that's a lot of years to give them. I'm not convinced that Voigt is the first baseman. I still think something is is is brewing. Because he and Burke could be a platoon tandem if they had to. But I get the feeling oh, we heard Ricki also take the Yankees kind of souring on him. Because you can't you can't build a sustainable. Offense would have guys. He's one of the mainstays. He breaks up the right handed batters. And he can't hit all of a sudden. I don't know. I I like him. I like him a lot. But now, you wonder if they play him during the spring, and he stays healthy is he a quick trade option or you just you just write them as long as you can until he breaks down. And he put somebody else away waco's into it. I. Plus, I also think they're gonna keep that spot open incase Harper floats around. So I I don't think anybody's done just yet. We come back. We'll talk to Paul Dottino. Giants as they face the forty Niners on Monday night. We'll be right back. This Veterans Day and every day sprint. Salutes are US armed forces. Our dedication to the military community includes our new unlimited military plan that gives veterans active.

Let's play this again. I'm not gonna play the whole thing, but I'm like, you, I love that accent. But some guys, so I was the predator tonight and that shit's come on man for real. But yeah, I agree with him. Most of all the writing was lazy. The jokes related laughed. People were laughing when we saw it, but I agree with that. I was like, yes, this is not the strongest thing in the world yet writing. Something. Good. I so movies not good. I'm not going to really argue against the humor parts of it, but I liked the mental health kind of aspect of the film in a way know a lot of people were criticizing that part, but I don't know. I feel like portraying mental health like HR autism into a fucking superpower and I was like, all right, like. Your go. You cannot go way. Theory has been floated around right people just gone. No. You try racing, this kid can come back. I'm sorry. I mean for all the people that look at this guys here on the movie, I'm just going to what they did was stupid. Hour, eight, seven, seven three three? Seven six? Six six, six Ricardo from Connecticut top Hello. Ricardo, Jody how you doing are you all right listen determinant on the all right I, was, listening, to, be, the soldier who you know. Who, significant, loss, and and my? Thanksgiving prayers? Go out. To agreed but I really think This whole. Thing is being lost these? Players I bet you ninety percent of. The players who Neil have either a friend or a relative in the military. You understand, what I mean it's not just not what that's, about it's it's about bringing light to something that's been going on a long time you know I grew up in queens. In the seventies in I know people to this day that cops took along for ride alongs who to this day will not, talk about? It and, that's what this really, about, it just so happens at. Certain politicians made it about themselves and they made. The rhetoric about you know oh yeah the disrespecting the soldiers no they're not, disrespecting the soldiers they are. Just using the platform as did Muhammad Ali people hated Muhammad Ali when he uses pot form until twenty years later that's. All this is in I just I hope we can get back to what's really. Important instead of pointing fingers You know what I'm saying in just sort of disrespecting each other that aren't But you, have to understand that much like you understand their stand you understand, their statement you believe in you understand that they're not attempting to. Be, disrespectful but you can't subject someone else. To your beliefs and career wakes I they're allowed to have their own dead Title dead by. Iran, Reverend weld they're allowed to do that Didn't know they were allowed to do that but when that becomes the zero perspective on that becomes the, bullseye because of someone else Clinton met. In the head I just think we have to keep the open mind me as well No you specifically went to you bright politics into it Let's. Let's stick knowledge Colin Kaepernick dead were. Before. The Brandon the United States ever took a stance Trump took it to a new. Level I'll agree with you on that Let's be honest I understand ad Ricardo. I appreciate I appreciate your opinion You can have. A disagreement with. The president's stance I. Happen to. Be one that does Over the topics. I think it's for political gain and the like. But, don't put it all on Trump don't make Trump the only guy. In the conversation yes, he's the president and he's got the biggest bully pulpit. Of anybody. So when he speaks. He takes a stance more people pay attention to it, that's true but he didn't start it started this whole day before. Trump was ever elected so don't make it all Trump's doing and Trump is taken away the possibility of the players know there. Were a whole bunch of people that didn't like with Colin Kaepernick. Did before Donald Trump Donald Trump was still saying. You're wired on television at the time So you can have your standard. About Trump. And you disagree with. Trump and where he's taking it and that he's taken, it that's perfectly fine but don't make it all about him you. Said the solo voice well Trump's not to celebrate you may be the voice of all but he's not the solo voice any. Wasn't the first Weiss what from upstate New York's on the fan Good you Yankee. Baseball First, of all the, starting pitcher I'm more worried about We have got to pick up a one more. Starter because sunny, grades just isn't, gonna cut the mustard Let's get rid of him In your opinion what are we trade for? And what prospects will get what process do we give up through the farm system? To get good starting pitchers it, was going to be dependable I think the best available one is going to be Jay okay he's good that's. From Ronald Reagan, from Toronto who oh by the way is last four? Starts have not been great but he did pitching effective inning and got to save? And the all star game tonight Let me ask you this how does he does he does he fare against the Yankees when? He pushes against the Yankees I could. Try and look that up for you real fast Joe it. Really truth be told if you're thinking about acquiring him..

"The other i'm still i'm convinced personally that there one more move away and i think it could be you know that that's six seven starter a guy that might come in in case of an injury but some experience i don't know if they're going to reach down beyond louis sesa justice shafie like i said showed a lot but he's not ready i think there may be one starter short of really being comfortable with death in the starting rotation i remember brian mitchell's now in san diego was the guy that makes them starts last year you're going to go adam lauren chad green is so valuable in his role out of the bullpen although there try to stretch him out even for spot starts you know he's just so good out of the pain i wouldn't touch it there so just something tells me i get an inkling that cashman might still have an eye out for one more starter before we break camps one thing i could definitely see ricky ricardo about the yankees is certainly to making a deal for a starter in the middle of the season you know before the trade deadline i certainly could see that going down rick oh yeah no they've got enough conceived in the mind lynn three and four deep at certain positions all the way up and down the line no have plenty of you know prospects to offer a team that's looking to move away from a quality start at the trade deadline that might be the route of cash and takes and you know he rolls the dice what he's gotta hear the beginning of the season but i agree with that i don't think the rotation you'll see on opening day i think we'll be far from the rotation that you'll see hopefully you know if they play some serious october baseball we saw last year when he swooped in and made a deal for sonny grey and we saw last year i'm can be aggressive and what's so scary about the is that they're armed with this incredibly loaded farm system and the wherewithal financially to take on money so any top line started that becomes available use your wildest imagination the yankees would be.
