Coronavirus and golf: How the professional tours are affected
"Let me ask you this about the tour and like all this stuff is going because you talked about the guys being on the golf course and. I really don't blame these news. We try to play golf because if they look if I stay away from people doing nothing else then I might as well get at here but like how do you think the tour is going to be affected by all of this there are affected a bunch of one? They still haven't even postponed or canceled events. That scheduled may twenty first the ink at colonial. And you know one of the events that that they're talking about trying to move since they moved. Somebody majors the US Open now where it got moved. Its date is open. So Jack Nicklaus tournament the memorial wants to move out of its slot into where the US Open was but it's still scheduled to go on in. That's the last week of. May which doesn't seem possible to that's going to happen. They hope and help or like the idea that the US Open is saying. Now we're not going to be here. Is somebody else's like that all right? Yeah or tournament like the open championship which isn't scheduled till July is like we out all next year in. May there like an eighty news like Nah. And that's the thing Bo you know man. I'm I'm optimistic. I try to see the silver lining. I tried to look at the good in everything but realistically to think we're going to be playing in June is just it. I don't see it happening. I just don't see us being ready to play golf in six weeks when there are still places that are on complete lockdown. I don't understand how they think that they're going to pull this off now even in my opinion first week of August which is when the PGA championship is supposed to happen. Even that seems to me as a more hopeful than realistic thing. Not only because we don't know where we be as a country as far as where this pandemic virus is by then. We have no idea whether it is going to be a phase two or phase three and the fact that the PGA championship is still scheduled to be held in San Francisco. Yes I if xactly Gulf has never been the first to do anything so to think that golf would be the first sport to come back. Golf is a sport that is more image conscious than the NFL. That I know that sounds crazy but think about this. You are not going to hear the golf as Elliot Nothing. Have you ever heard of a Golfer have you heard of a Golfer getting a DUI other than Tiger Woods? 'cause it was tiger so he's bigger than just the Gulf News but have you ever heard of a PGA tour pro given the Dui. Like you think it ain't happened right exe- so the thought of Gov being the Guinea pig like man. We'll bring all our guys back. Because you know golf will be the easiest thing for social distancing. Yes inside the ropes. It's easy for social distancing Hauer player's GonNa get tournament how litter power. They literally getting from the airplane to hotel. Where we're staying. Where are they going to empty? Who who changing the sheets right and then when you get to the gut like getting a rental car you can rent a car from somebody. I'll be working rental counter and then when you get to the golf course you just pulling out in the Congo and straight to the driving rains. You're going into the locker room who's WHO's opening locker room door. Who's working in you? Go to the bathroom cleaning up. Who changed sort of paper or you won't eat. Who's WHO's GonNa Food? Who's bring the food who stole in the trash out like? Who's doing the dishes like those? And that's not you ain't got to the courts yet now. You get course okay. We're GONNA put this on TV. Well who's filming? You've got to have a camera do. Okay Yeah we got a camera guy but the camera guys not the producer. Oh Yeah. Where's the camera picture on bow to? We need court to go to the trump who's trump who drove the trump who's producer who's directed where those people at Lake everything that goes into a production of a golf broadcast. Ken Be even bigger than Football Basketball Baseball and hockey. Because at least those venues are all a one static place so you could put cameras up in a stadium and field ain't GonNa Change. It doesn't work like that with golf when one week. The golf course looks like this in the next week is completely different. Everything gotta move is a traveling circus so to think that golf would be the one to go. Hey we'll come out. I will do a I. The Gulf was the second to last the shut it down. It was golfing NASCAR so in the long run when Gov comes back there I think of is gonNA come back without fans like I think every other sport will at first and I think golf will do okay in the long run. But I think we're GonNa wait longer than what we think for golf to come back. But and here's my silver lining. This is also where I love. What the Masters did where the Masters said we're coming back in November. The masters is the last thing on the schedule. Movember Ninety two fifteen and again talk about buffer nate. Just out not only did they come back. And we're GONNA do this in November. They also have already said. If you've got a ticket Komo come on in you know other sport has been no other waning. Tried to say only Augusta will be like not only. Are we putting the masses on? We're letting the Patriots into but we won't make that Egg Salad. We're going to make those divisional tea. Sandwiches come gifts on and I think November. Not only is realistic. But I love that. The masters is at least for me. The biggest beacon at the end of this dark tunnel. I tell you this though. Y'All come back I ain't GonNa meet you there right like they say like they just go be somebody out there. That's like now I'm good is somebody's wife. That's like yo you ain't going out on this trip like his eight nine. This ain't the Olympics though. That's what's funny. I remember when Owen down for the Olympics. Zeka you know guys were like I know plenty of dudes whose girlfriends and wives would like if you go. Don't come on you know. He you know he might put us in. The spot and jazz were like. I'm not even going to go I. I'm any worth you know. I'M I won't be happy home really but the masters though let's say right now there's plenty of dudes if that came down at the masters they are going to be like. Yo suitcases right over. She she she she. She want me to call Uber. Or because I'm going to the mass you don't WanNa go. You Ain't gotta go but one of us is going well. That tate is last thing I would ask you because I just thought of this while we were here. Are these golfers paying their caddies out like how I still pay my housekeeper? Even though she's not keeping the House I got the same thing Nancy so most golfers yes are trying to take care of their caddies in some way or form. We have to remember how cat is get paid. Caddies get a weekly paycheck and then you get a percentage of what the Golfer wins. But if the government's not winning anything where it becomes difficult is for. We all know the big super rich dude by all the big name guys like rory no Tiger Dustin Johnson of Brooks Kapka you name it Jordan Speed Rickie Fowler just Thomas Jon Rahm like those dudes of yes. They're going to be taken care of their dude with the guys who have a tough time on rookies. So the guys who came from the korn-ferry tour or the guys that this is only their second or third year on the PGA tour and they made them millions like those they could be struggling a little bit to one of the guys who I'm friends with a WHO's academy and doesn't caddy for a big named guys told me that his guy is sending them a little bit just a little bit every week just to help everybody still got bills and whatnot. So I'm sure that there are some guys that are not in a position to do that so there are probably some caddies that are hurt. But that's the world we live in right now so everybody's anxious to kind of get back to work pay
The Masters postponed over coronavirus
"Masters officials have postponed the first major championship of the year until a later date that decision coming twelve hours after PGA commissioner Jay Monahan canceled for tournaments leading up to the master starting with the final three rounds of the Players Championship and it's fifteen million dollar purse golfer Rickly Rickie Fowler talking to ESPN about the tour's decision that to cancel the rest of the players championship and a gust up obviously although organizations around our country as well as the world are taken the precautions to trying to stay as safe as we can so definitely stand by the decisions made by the touring Jay Monahan yeah it's unfortunate that you would have don't have any terms coming up but this is a lot bigger than the game of

"rickie fowler" Discussed on The Dan Patrick Show
"We make way for rickie fowler not only a great golfer but the executive producer of basketball or nothing. It's a six part docu series about a navajo nations boys high school basketball team which just premiered friday on netflix rickie joins us now. How did you get involved in. This docu series well. I've done projects <hes> with workshops they've helped suit a few things and helped out with some content and so when the project came about and they saw the opportunity to pitch it to me be me involved with <hes> my nabet community being that in quarter now though my grandmother's side is is full navajo so it was a great fit and a way to bring a you know a little bit of navajo spotlight to the rest of the world had. I'm assuming you've been to reservations before yeah. It'd been awhile since i've been back to another reservation so it was <hes> it was pretty cool to make stop and chilly and spend some time with the team and the coaches and the staff and the kids <hes> so it was <hes> that was special buy really kind of reliving it through you know the show finally coming on netflix so it was it was kinda cool to see all that how important is sports to them. Sports is is a big part of life. You know there's there's a lot of <hes> hardships with type. Two diabetes is a big one but diabetes in general and obesity so sports away <hes> especially when the younger generation interracial is able to get involved in sports <hes> any of them across the board. That's a huge help for their lifestyle and you can watch this docu series. It's it's <hes> on netflix. Who's your favorite team growing up. You were you you were born in california live in florida but i'm curious you gotta football team. You you know i really wasn't huge <hes> exactly into like didn't have a specific football team team growing up. I always loved sports and loved flying sports. <hes> my my main background in accidents sports other than golf so i i grew up riding and racing dirt bikes so i still follow supercross load across the bunch and <hes> i've been lucky enough now. I've been able to meet or different athletes so i mean i would say. I have more guys that i follow through the n._f._l. And and <hes> and stuff like that and but yeah. I didn't really have a a team up more geeked out meeting. Tom brady or dave mirra. I would say it was a toss up. <hes> i got to spend you know a little bit of time with with dave <hes> through the years <hes> some time with tom and play some golf with them <hes> two very well respected athletes but when you play golf with brady at what point does he stop being tom brady and he's just time you're playing with <hes> and you can you can see the and talented side route like i said he had. It doesn't matter what we're applying for. He's on it and he's in who's more competitive michael jordan or brady. When you blah ooh i that would i would need to see a <hes> in a in a teen game matchup where tom and m j on opposite teams that that could get pretty heated. I would have to put them <hes>. I put them on the same page there to eventually the greatest <hes> what they did. <hes> and tom still does which is pretty impressive. He's he's had the career that he's had in still but do famous people ask for golf lessons. They do for sure. I would say tom. Tom's homes a little bit more of a one that's all asking and is open to <hes> some pointers. M._j.'s kinda got his his stuff together. He <hes> <hes> he's been playing. I think a lot longer and then obviously being a little bit more free time on his hands <hes> he kinda owns what he has. He has a little bit of an ordinance unorthodox way <hes> but he's got a damn good short game. I'll tell you that yeah. I think it would be fun to see that and and you know tiger once told me you know if we play golf and i say how much we plan for and he said whatever makes you nervous. I think jordan uses that line to use it on you. Oh yeah no he uses it so we have our kind of standard game now so it's nothing that's kind of nervous feeling we go out and enjoy it and love enough on each other but <hes> that's his that is definitely his standard line. When it comes to someone new going to the game yeah. They like to say that and then you get up but you. I don't know what's going to what amount would make you nervous. Oh there's there's always an amount friendly though i don't i don't have <music> hurt feelings one side of the other day <hes> it's it is it's obviously different when you're in your own money <hes> and having to whip out the cash on the on the eighteenth grade now what's the most money you've ever seen change hands. You don't have to do names most money that you were ever involved in or you saw <hes> well for myself i haven't i haven't been involved in a whole lot. I mean it's point for maybe a couple of thousand here and they're friendly games. <hes> <hes> the most i've seen thrown around. I haven't been in any of those big games. Maybe maybe five or ten shows harris not awesome crazy <hes> i i. I try and i stay away from those if anything. I like my my said the good friendly game go have fun. It's so it's enough to put a little dent there and have bragging rights which your favorite tiger woods story favorite tiger a whole. There's probably some that should remain really <hes> definitely. I mean definitely a <hes> <hes> a good time with over the last say five years or so <hes> from him until his injuries <hes> to kind of his his comeback story of trying to hate. It looks possible trying to trying to you know keep them donald us. Keep them <hes> level-headed not always working so you give him grief just to humble him a little bit and you now keep him on your level. Well i mean he's. He's on a whole different level. It's fun to you know have someone that is is now a the trend <hes> someone that we looked up to growing up and basically idolized <hes>. We just have a blast being invoice together to go on vacation. Oh i love playing but do you go out like with ugly. He plaid shorts and a cigar and those kind of things you know like we do. It depends on the occasion but yes if it's baker say there may not be assured it might just be four charts. <hes> there could be drinks. There could be the guard <hes> if it's getting ready for tournament. I think it's going to be a little bit more. <hes> put together and practice-oriented yeah but if i got and i think justin thomas talked about this i said if there were beers involved if we were gonna lose a one seed if if we're playing golf with beers you know i heard talks about this and he puts me pretty high up there. <hes> i feel like i do a good job of managing my level. <hes> there's others. I may not have to speak about that. <hes> may not do as good of a job <hes> put johnson up there as well meaning just flat out play and drink if if if the occasion calls for yes he can it doesn't matter the situation he's ready to excel species said he's pretty good. I have my doubts <hes> <hes> yeah. I'm going to have to side with you. Have you ever. I was thinking if you did a twins. It's like you and brooks kerr you in dustin johnson or you know you had arnold schwarzenegger and danny devito not that you're that small but brooks is so big and dustin johnson is so a big like you look at some of these guys and you go. They should be playing in another sport than golf yeah. I'm i'm glad that it's not a contact sport. I would hurt well if i had books around or not me but <hes> no it you know that's the beauty of golf is it doesn't matter. Are you know what you look like how big you are. It's you know who can who can play the best. You know that week that day and you know it's a little different from i'm never gonna play or was never gonna play in the n._b._a. The n._f._l. I mean size does come into play and you know other sports but <hes> you know size dies can help and golf but it's not a determining factor. Yeah it's interesting. I played golf with eddie george a former n._f._l. Running back and he won the heisman trophy and he looked at me because i was hitting it further than he was not that i hit it far but he couldn't so he would swing harder and i kept saying to him eddie. You're not gonna hit hit further than me by doing that. He couldn't understand the science of it and it drove him crazy. He just thought hey. I'm six three two hundred and thirty pounds an athlete. I should be able to hit it past. This spin looking guy but you know it doesn't. It doesn't work that me look justin. You know. Thomas is is not a big guy or charles. How the third that's what's amazing when people go late and he weighs one hundred fifty pounds and he hits it that far and i go yeah. That's golf crazy yeah. Exactly i mean <hes> you know i would say my myself and j._t. Were up there some of the longest pound for pound <hes> and a lot of people come up to us whether it's programs or playing at home or whatnot you know. How do you guys it is so far. It's just it comes down to how you're able to to use your body efficiently <hes> you look at someone like a d._j. It looks very effortless and it creates a lot of speed. <hes> you know size is and your height can help produce more speed but if you do not use it it. It doesn't matter how big you are can't say enough good things about this. This show show on netflix. It's a docu series. It's called basketball or nothing rickie fowler and executive producer of this navajo nations boys high school basketball team mm-hmm it premiered friday on netflix ricky great to talk to you and good luck on the upcoming <hes> rest of the season. We appreciate your time yeah. Thanks for having me dan. Eh rickie fowler rickie fowler is executive producer of that. Let me see had read will join us coming up on our poll question then hired. He gave you a stat of the day. I had mentioned that rickie fowler up. They're the most top ten finishes in majors. Since two thousand fourteen seven for ricky dustin johnson has seven roy mcelroy has seven so they're tied for third with speak with nine and brooks capco with ten but those other golfers have won majors. I rory with a couple of <hes> in this time period. Dustin johnson is well kept go of course with the four in the last ten majors. Ed reed will join this coming up and <hes> steve kerr vince carter back for another season. This is the most seasons for player in n._b._a. History he'll play the most minutes of anybody in n._b._a. History yes mclovin. We dusted off vince carter poll if you want to hear it all right unlike to whose career vince carter or seven-time n._b._a. Champion bigshot bob ori- this is a.
"rickie fowler" Discussed on The Dan Patrick Show
"Where do you stand on computerized strikes. It just feels caen as if some of the humanity hasn't led out of the game. Here's dan patrick power on this tuesday dan and the danettes dan patrick show oh fun i our chopped it up a lot of topics there rickie fowler will join us coming up a little bit freshly minted hall of famer ed reed will stop by and we'll talk ought to steve kerr golden state warriors head coach. I wonder if steve thought anything about this. When he started his coaching career that he was going to be he could be a hall of famer not by the way he played but by being a coach steve kerr's going into the basketball hall of fame he has to you know he had a long career one of the more accurate three point shooters in the history of the sport but he was just a nice complimentary player now he's going into the basketball hall of fame poll question should make love and what do you have for me so i put up if you were player. Would you want to be on hard knocks right now. Fifty eight percent say yes odd start with. We have some other options to yeah yeah. Let me here okay. We were debating before the show. <hes> who's the best defensive back in the last thirty years. Let's say in the modern era really modern nira and it's really hard to answer. Some of the choices would be obviously read who end in the hall of fame. <hes> this year dion sanders ronnie lott darryl green rod woodson send charles woodson champ bailey durell rivas or the top eight. I got one guy who stands out to me. I think there's an answer well. We're talking defensive backs. It's different to be a safety as opposed to a corner right. You can get away from a defensive back. It's hard to get away from a safety like they'd. They'd just roam and ed reed. I think had read underrated. He had almost seventy inner sh- interceptions and when he would would intercept a pass he would make you pay for it. I think he was overshadowed because of ray louis but ed reed was phenomenal. I think the other guy who's underrated rod woodson. I think rod woodson is as great an athlete great. Athlete is anybody who's ever played defensive back and that includes dion dionne was wonderful but rod woodson corner and safety memory blew out his knee but he was a guy who is you know olympic ability in the hurdles and he's a great athlete darryl green. You know top five fastest guys who ever played the game. I would go ronnie lott. I just i think ronnie lott made. Did you pay like there. Was something about ronnie lott. He was gonna hit you. He was gonna hurt. Ya i might put ronnie and i don't think there's a wrong answer. There might not be a right answer either mclovin. I would think dion sanders but i i don't know what's how much star power and how much is actually quality play but i feel like when you think of the great ah shut alley dion with such a force but it might have been his personality. Was he better than rivas. I don't know now not as flamboyant rivas not as flamboyant as this dion. Dion was a great return man. That's the other thing too. He was such a good return in my miami. When he got an interception he was taken to the house and he was telling you about rina's actually is not not like an interception no well. You didn't go there and i. I feel like free safeties. Make me nervous because if i'm the quarterback i'm going to see where you are. I want to know where ed reed is when i go to the line of scrimmage. I wanna know where ed rita's. I may not not throw to that left side of the field i just the reverse is over their dealings over there. I'm like okay. I'm going elsewhere. Free safety is going to shade to one side and it just feels like they're going to be there. They're going to be there all afternoon long but i don't know if there's a wrong answer there. I don't know if there's a right answer. I i love darryl green and i loved him as a player and as a person yeah he was a great retirement to yeah. Paulie ed reed has interception returns of one hundred six yards and one hundred seven yards not once not one fluky. Oh he was so smart art. Yes sixty four interceptions. He has twice as many interceptions in his career as troy palmolive who was a great player. Yeah i just you can't get away from ed reed really a brilliant brilliant player kind of look at it. Read it. If you gotta average defensive backfield other than him. He makes it really good because he could cover over every for everybody pretty impressive by the way go to rocco dot com all the parts your car truck weber need rock auto dot com family business founded by automotive engineers in nineteen ninety nine two goals in mind i to give people direct access to all parts information hidden.

"Breaking a few rules, set out, stay connected. But it works. Nate Lashley fourteen under the leader after thirty six holes not off at two o'clock eastern time today after posting, sixty three in round one sixty seven thirty final altered it just to get into this event, and he has got the leads. Typically cool story brewing for him if he can keep it together in these final two round Saturday and Sunday in front of a sold out crowd at the rocket mortgage classic the inaugural year for this event, and certainly a huge deal for the city of Detroit, they're calling it Detroit's major and Rickie Fowler is really become guys, the, the host of this event, certainly his partnership that he has with Quicken Loans rocket mortgage. He's gonna tee off at eleven forty currently eight under inside for twenty first. But whether it's just a few extra things he's had to do to promote this event, maybe even help recruit some of the golfers on sewer. It's been neat to see his interaction even leading up on Tuesday and Wednesday Wednesday at the pro am when he was out golfing, with kid rock, actually, it his bearing as well. But even some of the charity events that he's a he's done throughout this week, Charlie you mentioned that these ornaments, it's all about, you know, first and foremost. Saito, the charities that benefited and also some of the special moments that we see in one of those guys was on Wednesday in an opportunity for a young kid who has been suffering in going through the unthinkable with the brain Sumer and one of his heroes dreams through a wishes been to meet Ricky Fowler. And Ricky even got a little emotional hearing, the story, when, when the kid, they invited them out, and they gave him a Senate golf clubs and an opportunity to sling a few there with Ricky. And then, even yesterday, you gotta be an observer, follow Ricky around inside the ropes and it was just a cool moment. And just kind of reminds you what, what these are all about. And also, why Ricky dollar is so likeable and just down to earth. And it was just cool to see that side of Ricky up close and personal to the back stories that go on. On at all of these events are really pretty, you know, human interest stories. And this story here about this young man. So the PGA tour does does a lot to, to do support charity in the dollars. So on and so forth. Yes, it's a great story. And you know moving forward. From this tournament. There's only Bill seven tournaments left in the season. Wow. Very interesting, Charlie. You know. So I would ask both of you in seeing you both. Keep beat me in these contests have. Who are the three big disappointments on the tour this year? That really expected them to really come forward and, and win, majors and so on so forth, Bill. Who would you say the top three hour? Well, I. You know and have to say off the top of my head. I most perplexing, one to me is Jordan speed men without giving it a lot of thought I'd say had Decky has. You know, he becomes somewhat ordinary Charlie in, in another player that wouldn't necessarily be a household name, but really hasn't recovered from his about Lyme disease, Jimmy Walker. You know, Jimmy Walker there when he wanted appeal balls girl, I think one six times and three years of the major. Know he seemed to be coming on, and he contacted a lime disease. I would say a speak to me for me is the obvious one Decky Jimmy Walker. I would say have become somewhat pedestrian. And I might even so fill in their little bit..

"One last one here for you pretty quick. The young guys we talked about Jordan speak, you know, kept because just running away with this thing. He's, he's on the younger side of things. Look, my Rickie Fowler. If wasn't there Fowler be right in the middle of this thing. Ricky's play. Some good golf. Unfortunately ten shots off the lead after points. But it's good to see Ricky get going. And I mean that's, that's the guy that we're looking to every major, you know, he's the he's the probably the best ball from the world and not have a major right now. And he's playing good golf, maybe it's not this one obviously kept running away with it. But it looks like he's building on something. It would hope for the tenth ranked player in the world for a reason. Right. But, but as you mentioned, has not one have ager in. Yeah. If kept goes, not running away, catkins, just at seven under we're looking okay. He's only five strokes off the lead had again but just ten strokes back. It's just remarkable what kept goes. But I, I agree Rickie Fowler, as you know, is a fan favorite on the tour and other than than tiger. You know, when they're walking around the putting green ready Ricky's, the one named shouted always been around more than anybody else on our tiger gone Ricky's likable guy. And he's tied for tenth curly ET's off. Just under a half hour from now. I'm sure they'll be a great following him. I'm gonna try to head out there and t- off from from one. But I think for Fowler, if he can just kind of continue to chip away at this, and let's say he has another two or three hundred day just kinda hang around, and all these guys for speed to all these guys just hope that kept good can can have a day where he has not be awful. But if he goes to over or something like that, which still by the way, would be ten under for the tournament. You can't look at it and think you're gonna make up six strokes today on kept Canadian makeup sewer three today. If you're somebody that that's within seven, and then you go into Amaro, and down four or five strokes instill. See if you can come up with something, but nobody's nobody's catching them today. 2019 PGA Championship Odds
"Obviously, let's start. Tiger woods. Okay. He's eight to one which, again I'm going to say is ridiculous. I would never been anybody to win a golf tournament eight to one. But if I had to I probably wouldn't take Tiger Woods in this one, am I wrong in saying? No. You're not wrong and saying that. And let me just preface that by saying a couple of things. You know, Beth page black is a serious golf. Course it is long. It's just a, you know, Scotia under seventy five hundred yards. It's got an incredible incredible slope of one fifty five so for people that are listening that may not be that attuned into golf having a plan. A golf course it has a slope rating of one fifty five is an analogous to climbing by climbing Mount Everest. You know what I mean? It's steep in Scott, it's got a course rating Bryant of a kitsch over seventy seven while that. And combine all of that. I mean it's incredibly difficult. Number two. They expect some weather, you know, whether it be, I think I've Friday and Sunday hole with a chance. A rain and I think that's going to eliminate half of the field, right there number one, because of the weather, and even if they didn't have whether there, Brian, I think half of the field is eliminated because if you're not a bomber on that golf course your chances are swimming to win in my opinion. So and what I've heard about this golf course, the greens are fairly small, it's a, it's a ball striking golf course. So a guy that hits the ball long and straight probably gonna win this thing. But I guess you could say that about many majors out there. Right. So I look at a guy like Brooks. Kapka. Okay, kept is around ten to one. He's one of the favorites I'll tell you right now. I'd rather put my money on captain Tiger Woods. Well, I agree because kept goes is playing very, very good golf right now. Secondly, tiger winning the masters, you know, getting a lot of pricks and winning the masters but a wins a win. Okay, how hard it is to win a major little go back to back and. Win two majors. It just doesn't happen. And I just don't think the, the outer in tiger saver, especially if it is cold and rain tiger does not play good in cold or rainy weather. He just doesn't well, that's because he's a worst. That's what he requires conditions. That's because he's maintenance. That's why Dennis gimme gimme a long odds darkhorse in this thing. Oh boy. Very good question. You know played last week, and I've always liked a lot of. Is he's from whereas from India, big Roly, poly guy hearing that? Not lahiri. No, no cured that copy barn. Right. Okay. He got the length. He's got the game. He's playing good. I said for years, this guy is got to explode in a good tournament. I don't know what his odds are two hundred and fifty to one but how much two hundred and fifty to one, okay, there you go. John daly. Thousand that's my Bubba Watson, sixty two one boys that that's true Bubba is sixty to one, you know, here's another guy who is just no confidence right now. You know who probably I'm gonna say, Jordan speech, right? Your meal. He's people are I hear the most ridiculous thing the other day that there were when George came out, and he had a stellar year, you know, two three years ago, they're going, there's our next Tiger Woods. There's our next tiger was you gotta be kidding me. Yeah. See, that's, that's just completely ridiculous. All I is so far awful lot. It's Redick doesn't hit the ball far enough. That's the bottom line in this day and age of golf to be one of the best players in the world you have to hit the ball, at least three twenty three thirty three forty t. Has a magnificent short game. We know he's going to win more tournaments and he'll probably win more majors. But he's in my opinion. He will never be the number one player in the world ever again. I happen to agree with you. And I think right now with him. He says he's a grobian he's getting better, especially the short Dame as funny, but he's got demons. And I think that's the only thing that's stirring up on the greens, real. Masonic temple and over thinking that people have been saying that for a long time. Yeah. It's going to be interesting to see how long guys it takes for him to shake those demons and and get back to being him. Let's talk a little bit about Jason day. If you ask me, a guy, I wouldn't really call him a long shot because he's about thirty two one in most books. But Jason day has had a lot of success on, Bethpage. He's had a lot of success on this golf course. I know he's not the best player in the world, but he used to be he knows what it's like to win big golf tournaments. It seems like he is getting much back into form. And he's playing some better golf again. He's my guy that I look at nice say, well might might not be a bad idea to put a couple of bucks on Jason day. He said success here, he can win this tournament. And then I look at a couple of other guys like Patrick Canley, like, Tony female these guys that I think are do they've been in contention, and majors before they certainly have the talent to win it, and it just for them. It's just about getting over the hump. Those are a couple of guys, maybe not the biggest household names, but guys. Is that our top twenty players in the world that I think can win tomorrow? Well, I agree with you. I, I disagree a little bit with can leave. And though he's having a hell of a season but you happen to mention the guy where my money's on to win this tournament. That's Tony female. Yeah. He's all the tools. He hits the ball long way Jos the ball. And he he's got a magnificent. Nag -nificant short game. He's an incredible athlete as long as he doesn't sprain his ankle, a couple days before a major. He'll be he'll be just fun. Every did that the masters. Zander Shaw fell doesn't. He owns that the long drive record like four hundred fifty yards. Doesn't he? Zander sharply. Yeah. Yeah. I was not aware of that. I was not aware of that. I mean he's obviously a fine fine player. I just personally, just don't seem in the Knicks on this. I wouldn't you know, think to bet them, but again, anything can happen, J D And don't forget, all these guys are damn good. But there's certain things you have to have on a golf course like this to really up your percentage in, if you don't have I think you're going to be hitting your gifts your head against well, obviously short game and putting anywhere. But you gotta have the lake to gotta get it in the stairway on this golf course. And again, I think they haven't, you know, this, this course, is held what three or four different big big tournaments before and experience is, is really kind of out the window. I think it just got to look at the guys that are coming in that are kind of hot playing goes speaking of hot. I'm glad you mentioned that because Dustin Johnson has a very hot wife and pulling the Gretzky he is let me mention a few guys Dustin. Johnson. I mentioned, his trophy, wife, Rory mcilroy is twelve to one Rickie, Fowler guy. We haven't talked about is right there at sixteen to one Jon Rahm and other one eighteen to one with Justin Rose. And then you have Molinari in D Shambo at twenty two one those guys that I just mentioned. Is it fair to say that, that those odds are correct? And those guys have a good shot to get this thing as well. I do. I do. I think this one they picked it. They take pretty good. You know, again, there's ways that you can play is, you know, playing really, really good golf not being the longest hitter of the world. And most of these guys, you know, have that they keep them play. They've got a good short game. They have a good imagination. And that's, that's what you'd be on any PGA tour event Brian. You know, that's sure. No absolutely

If we're, still around watching, golf then we'll be sending. The same thing, about speed in John whoever like. It's going, to be. You watch. And the next four or five years It won't be the same thing as tiger but if, Rickie Fowler doesn't, win then it's gonna be, you know of Ricky's involved. On a watch, it, because he seems. Finish it off he is to under through ten holes in, his round two and he's three shots, off the lead but Maureen like a lot of golfers. Coming into, Saturday I mean he's going to have to play a lot of golf and Ricky still looking. For that elusive first major is right. In the mix he certainly is, in the mix. But you're right there are some Gulf are going to be very tired tomorrow evening particularly if the temperatures well up in the nineties as, it was today coupled with the humidity that we had. As well today, but you know Ricky's. Been waiting well everybody's been waiting for Ricky to win a major for, a long time and it's inconceivable to think that he hasn't. Won this year he had that great run that the masters finishing runner-up, almost did it but he has the opportunity to. Rewrite the narrative Of this year this week This would change sort of also all those type year into a great year forum Rickie Fowler to under through ten holes in his round two seven under for the PGA championship, three shots behind the leader Gary woodland by Ricky's got to play a lot of golf. Wanna see Ricky Fowler when a major, I also like Jordan Spieth but he's. Already wants a major a. Few of them but I want. Ricky to win a major too so if tiger and Ricky are both in the mix I mean you can't go wrong but here's the thing I want tiger win because Ricky's going to win some. He's going to win at, least one sometime soon he's still young he's gonna get. As majors I need tiger to get back I. Know we already has some but it's been too long This is riveting. What's going on at Carnoustie. Today it really is it brought. It brought out like a question, for me in my mind About tiger You, know he he went through all the stuff in when he when he was married and the incident with the golf club in, the car and then the going away for sex addiction or whatever it was that the, termed it you know And there are a lot of people think the. "For jon rahm that was playing absolutely perfectly we heard a lot of perfect shots today as we welcome you back to the masters tonight on westwood one kevin kugler joined by billy kratzer has been watching it all with cbs sports tv coverage two pm eastern sunday on cbs and of course billy kratzer with the featured groups all day long at masters dot com it was day about today obviously boy were the conditions excellent for scoring we saw some players really take advantage of that today three sixty five kevin and when you look at what jon rahm did roy mcilroy rickie fowler did they put themselves back in the mix absolutely you look at what jon rahm has done opening opening deterrment up with seventy five and then coming back with sixty eight and sixty five so he's playing well ricky fowler obviously playing well roy mcelroy i thought it was critical for roy mcelroy today with what he did at the twelfth thirteenth getting it up and down for par then he got it up and down at sixteen for par and then took advantage of the great break with the bad tee shot to the ride on eighteen six iron close clutch putt unbelievable finish for for mcelroy any hugging there and he only had twenty three putts today we've been talking about putting for mcelroy putting for speed but roy mcelroy you put him on fast quick greens he is very effective way he certainly was today of course he went out with a five under thirty one on the first nine really set the tone for his day rickie fowler with that strong sixty five he's nine under five shots off the pace patrick reed who we've talked about already on this show patrick reed was just tremendous today when you go out and perform like patrick redid on this stage boy that's something special to watch and he was so good most of the day today and there's no there was nothing indicating that he was going to play well i mean you look at his past appearances here avid gusta national and they have been at least in my estimation dismal for.

"So patrick reid that would be an incredible twoputt from where he is currently at thirteen under he's four shots clear of forty mcelroy who's playing whole number fifteen jon rahm is in shooting sixty five now leash men second coming up at fourteen from just in the pine straw from one hundred and fifty three yards but a good angle yeah just depends on how that ball comes out of that pine straw is flying pretty well airmails green charlie a fluid over the back part of the green and must three or four rows into the patriots he's really surprised most of the time balls when they're sitting on top of pine straw will come on a little soft that one came out a little hot up ahead rory on the t at fifteen and he has this one well to the left and that bounds in and through the patrons actually is on grass between the pine trees over the seventy could be okay there rickie fowler just outside six feet and then down on a pretty good line but it turns laughing at turns left into the cop away from the crowd and patrons rickie fowler birdy here at cole seventeen he's now nine hundred he heads datino so rickie fowler with a birdie at seventeen to fifteen dustin johnson for eagle from the front right portion of the grain to this back right hold location about fortyfive feet curls behind the whole pretty good touch for dustin johnson but you guys talk about being stuck in neutral that's the case for dj today started at three under he will tap this in to go to five under for the week just a couple under great round but it pales in comparison to some of the other moves being made today on moving day no question about that and jon rahm at a big move today is he shot a bogeyfree sixty five rickie fowler is seven under on his round as he gets ready to play hole number eighteen of a watson currently at six under justin rose at three hundred walking up to the green here eighteen but charlie right now the focus is over fourteen and patrick who trouble off the tee is going to have a very difficult to pot on that green literally has to put the width of the green over fourteen.

"Rickie fowler plays his second at whole number seventeen at number seven excuse me and that is a big miss by fowler he's missed that some thirty feet to the right of the whole on it's gonna only get worse based on the slope in that whole just be a sand wedge in that ball's gonna end up some fifty feet away from the whole when you're exactly right and they're just not a good play patrick read agonizing over this par pot at home number three right at five feet plenty of speed in fact he's gonna have to start this way outside the left edge just have to trust yourself these cokes down the hill and it catches the left edge and spins out just a little bit softer in that ball would have fallen so patrick reid is gonna make a bogey here at three and a mistake he made with that approach surprise me too he's a heck of a wedge player and it's a good hole location for him he goes beyond that flag was little drawn spends it back in the come up short just an unforced error patrick reid for his bogey any fours that end so patrick read after pars at one and two makes bogey at three and he falls back to eight under in his lead is just one over mark leash woman who's in for his par jon rahm playing his second at home or nine got a good break off the team he's just got one hundred twenty five yards it's almost too close if he flies it all the way back it's going to spin back from the bacter actually he hits it into that bacteria and it comes down to that second level on the green at number nine is you'll have about thirty five feet up the hill not a bad place to be is hard to mess with that backhoe location that little tear up there is just such a small area so patrick reed with a bogey at three falls to eight under mark leash mun three straight pars to start his round he's at seven under rickie fowler four under through his first six holes is currently at six under par now just two off the lead roy mcelroy after that.

"You know you look at it rory mcilroy historically not a guy that loves playing bad weather you know i i look at a guy like rickie fowler and louis rousse and justin thomas an injustice rose at some of the names that i think could have a chance to make their way up the leaderboard i mean you gotta be mentally prepared to get you know playing in bad weather is no fun for anybody no fun for the players the cabbie's or the patients out there so you've got to understand this is what it is and if you go in with the right mentality like you know you know jack nncholas used to say when guys were complained about us open divisions on wednesday he knew that worried about those players could beat them because they already defeated themselves but i think the thing here you guys are waking up in the morning and they're complaining about the weather and you know they're they're they're kind of upset about the way it looks in the forecast you know those guys are going to have a tough day and i think the players that can wake up and say i've got a chance to make up a couple of shots i mean leaders those are the guys you want to circle and those are kind of the names but i said i think i have a chance to do that shame on you i was talking earlier about the tiger woods influence and at the masters you know i it's an event that captures everybody's attention all fifty states countries all over the world everybody pays attention but what kind of influences tiger met to the other events even if he isn't at the top of the leaderboard enormously i mean when's the last time you talked about the ballot sports championship correct i mean you know in about four championship is usually a pga tour event that gets minimal coverage and it was outraged makes championship you know i mean it's it's you can people still cannot do not tiger woods and they wanna see him and they wanna you know tell the.
