"J. R 7 60 AM were also here on Facebook, Live and YouTube. And joining me is Dave Rigor. Dave, How are you? Doing well, So during the break, we were talking a little bit about golf and I, you know, back at the Rocket Mortgage Classic. We were talking about the winter. They're bracing de Shambo and how he was hitting the ball further than everybody and we talked about how it might be a little tougher for him this week at the Memorial in Ohio, when all of the really competition was back in play. And then Bryson still managed to get the first headline out of memorial with Ah, bomb that he hit that was 463 yards or some some crazy number like that, or 430 yards. What do you make of the game now where people are bulking up and just Destroying the ball off the tee and changing You know what every course. Looks like the way it was built. I think it's great. Ah, they are definitely the course Architects. You're gonna have to build the courses to try to defend The best they can against the other big power hitters, But at the end of the day, you still have to be able to get to. Ah, you get your short game and make your pots. So even though these guys can bomb the ball, and it gives them a great advantage, you still have to be able to finish it off. So I I think Grayson ended up it plus one plus two, even though he did make some great headlines. Yeah, it's going to be interesting to watch and the long ball does change things. I know Oakland Hills is redoing their course. I don't know if they're making it longer, so they can have more tournaments for the pro's, but they want a major. That's why they're doing it. Yeah, And embracing is not exactly leading the tournament over there, either. But it was interesting that Jack Nicholas jumped in and said, I think I think the drive is going too far. You're changing the game because the courses aren't that long. So I'll be interested if they change the Waller changed the technology or change the rules or if they just let him go, and they have to rebuild more golf courses both for that's good point. Looks like your guest is on the line, so I talked to him and then I will be back at the next break. They started in Detroit in the late eighties early nineties. But by the dawning of the new millennium, they were, uh, had set up satellite wings in 25 of the 50 states and controlled upwards of 40% of America's cocaine trade. What was the key to them getting so much power all across America. They were incredibly diplomatic, um and and and relatively non violent. Tuesday morning meeting of the board will provide the answers to what the press until now has only been able to speculate on like there was a headlight click bait headline over the weekend that said will the twenty twenty one Oscars be canceled sources expect not only eligibility changes especially in light of all the way movies are currently debuting on voice of demand and streaming platforms but there is also likely to be some surprising and significant changes regarding some of the categories themselves what the changes will be is anybody's guess right now but due to excess of entirely of many the ex exodus entirely of many films from the twenty twenty release calendar and several others currently weighing options to switch to video on demand or streaming rather than going interesting to see what they what they come up with Utah health officials looking toward the state's gradual opening there's a cautious re opening of businesses that have been closed during the pandemic Utah's transmission rate of covert nineteen is slowing and the number of cases in the state appears to be plateauing Corning state epidemiologist Angela Dunn the Utah department of health reported yesterday that another ten Utahns have been diagnosed with COPD nineteen since the day before the new cases brought the state's total to four thousand two hundred thirty three for the second straight day no new deaths have been reported Ian by the Utah department of health after their mid day report however data from the county health department showed one more fatality from the virus bringing the statewide count to forty two Salt Lake County has seen twenty five fatalities from the virus that's more than the rest of the states counties and and more than half of the of the deaths reported there've been just for new hospitalizations statewide since Sunday that's the lowest daily increase this month been a total of three hundred forty nine people hospitalized in Utah because of because of it nineteen I think that means that the the measures particularly the stricter measures that have been taken are helping and it honestly makes me a little nervous to back away from those the Navajo Nation has been particularly hard hit by coronavirus our our friend and Navajo Nate who called this morning he was on his way down to the Navajo Nation they have fifty nine deaths attributed to the disease as of Friday that's more than Utah and eleven other states now the Navajo Nation is enough it it makes it's made up of four four states the four corners area I think okay I think all four of the states Utah New Mexico Arizona and the other one Colorado no no no I was on the Mexico Utah yeah so that is another item yes cholera yes so so anyway that is the the the Navajo Nation takes up those four speed the corners of those four states but it's considered a separate entity and none of the states are R. because it's a sovereign nation that's why we're not counting it in our state yeah who who the latest set of data that it's not crap I can't so it's got to be it's Colorado I can't picture it for some having trouble picturing it anyway via Navajo Nation numbers are starting to slow down because they say they got very very aggressive just read just within the last couple of weeks they started getting very aggressive and they have brought the the account down according to the figures though the rest of the world and the rest of the country there's still a lot out there now this is kind of good news scientists from around the world competing to develop a vaccine to stop coronavirus in in that race a laboratory at Oxford university has had a big head start most other teams have begun had had to begin with small clinical trials in a few of a few hundred participants just to demonstrate that their vaccines were safe to use in humans before they could start to gauge whether the and the unity of their inventions actually work but scientists of Oxford's Jenner instituted already proved in previous trials that similar inoculations including one last year against another cold coronavirus were harmless to humans so that's enabled them to leap ahead to the next step and schedule tasks involving more than six thousand people by the end of next month hoping to show that their vaccine is not only safe but it works the Oxford scientists now say that with any emergency approval from regulators the first few million doses of the vaccine could be available by September if it's shown that it doesn't hurt people and that it works so that they're that far ahead in the ready to go and so they could they believe they can get that kind of testing done over the next few months and hopefully that will show yes it's has effectiveness yes that may it's not killing people go ahead let's let's start doing it let's start giving people the vaccine a New York has canceled I'm not sure how I feel about this I mean I understand but they've canceled their presidential primary which is scheduled for June couldn't they just switch it to mailing primary roving canceled I don't know they they have become the first state to cancel presidential primary over the coronavirus fears the decision came after Vermont senator Bernie Sanders to spend his presidential campaign earlier this month which basically rendered the primary moot I mean what they're saying is it Joe Biden is going to be the nominee what's the point of having the primary but I guess I mean people were saying well the point of having the primary is that we have a right to vote and we should be allowed to vote the democratic commissioners voted to remove a number of candidates who had ended their presidential rescues me campaign from the ballot and yeah they said we just we're just not going to have it now somebody may appeal that to the to the courts and and it could be back on I don't know if that'll happen or not there's a Florida student name Craig McFarland he's eighteen lives in Jacksonville Florida and he was applying for college now people apart for colleges on I remember I was applying for college I applied for graduate school and I applied to three or four places and then I went to the one place that accepted me the rest of them rejected me yes this is where I'm going to I guess is where I'll go to graduate school because the others said man we don't think so but Craig McFarland aims particularly high and wide he applied to eight Ivy League schools for college and you know you're lucky again if we with one of them says okay yeah we'll take you all all eight Ivy League schools said yes what else would I feel about him I guess I guess he's smart I was yelling smart people I was just yelling in shock when I heard the Yale acceptance video said Rick McFarland a recalling that earlier in the day he had a disappointing track practice gotten into an argument with his father and had car trouble but then Gail said yeah we'll take you so I don't know if he's decided which one is going to go to but his choices are I mean they're great truck I you go to the one that gives the most scholarship money that's where I go.

"He had abrasions on his knuckles on his left hand and a piece of his little finger on his right hand was cut off. Rick said he got the injuries from from falling while he was running. He said he ran two or three times a week. None of his neighbors knew he was a runner at all. Rick also denied being in the wealthiest garage but then did finally admit to storing some items there because he's cleaning his garage and also found in the suburban. Was this shovel in a multi altay tool with blood on it. So Richard Clamor. The Texaco owner said that only one person had ever taken that suburban for a test drive and the person who had written down his name as Mark Linn and had left a fake phone number. The name was a fake. To of course the tests driver had been rick now. Sue's brother P was retired homicide detective and when an told him what was going on with sue in Rick he knew right away something bad had happened. He said this just isn't gonNA turn out. Well no he said experience in this stuff so well the search the house is going on. Rick was staying with his boys at Margot Chrome access. But according to Margo richest wasn't around much as she cared for his children often disappear for several hours and he refused to let the boys return to school saying they needed him but then he wasn't there with him. Well Yeah I mean. It seems pretty simple to me that he just didn't want the boys speaking and anyone for sure at least one of the boys had a pretty good idea of what had happened. Unfortunately and as police searched for Su- rick went to see clamor at the Texaco Soco's station. He told them he wanted to talk to him before the police did. He wanted clamor to tell the police that he had given him the keys to the suburban then he wrote down his real name and phone number for clever but after he left the page were rick had written a fake name and number was missing from Clamor Sinan Book so clamor talked to the police and agreed to let the police record his calls with Rick. He reached Rick on the phone that night and it continued to try and get clamor to stick to his story. Worry about the suburban he also asked clamor to sell his Windstar van for him. I think it's a little late to hide those running scared now he I really is so required an attorney and he stopped saying anything at all to the police. The police did have a warrant for fingerprints and a blood sample and they took those. It was on December. Sixth Sue sister. Anne Got Texas Equa searched to help in the search for sue and the director asked retail research. But Rick never return the guys call then. The McFarland boys started to say semi things especially the oldest one. He said that the police should give everyone in the world away detector test starting with his father. Rick refused to get the boys any counseling. No but you know sous friends and family tried to keep at least the resemblance A good relationship with rick so they would continue to have access to the boys and this was an easy because most of them right away thought he had killed sue. So here's looking their way and it was avoiding seuss family as much as he could so he was looking very guilty and he was also avoiding the police in the press. One night a neighbor brought the two younger boys home at nine PM and Rick Wasn't home like you said he would be. The house was completely dark but when this neighbor turned turned on a light she saw that the house was a complete disaster rappers and papers were everywhere and nothing had been picked up since the police search also. The family cat hat was locked in a bathroom with a filthy cat box and no food or water so the neighbor fed the little boys made them take a bath and waited with them until rick. Got Home Tom later she called. CPS to report the neglect and interviews with the boys would reveal that rick would hit them and pull their hair as punishment for bad behavior so they were afraid of their dad. Well they certainly were with good reason on January fourteenth searches got a new lead and went to the San Antonio River now. They followed the river's edge until they found look like a fresh burial site. Forensics team was brought in and they meticulously excavated as it got closer to the body they could smell the aroma of death but it ended up to be a gray for dog and not a human right but that same afternoon following another the lead. They went to a parcel of land with an abandoned farmhouse on it. That's where the smoke was seen and it would turn out where rick had been parked with a black bag. Doc when that other guy drove by this is where they found sues body yes birch and once the children were determined to be safe with a neighbor. Rick was arrested as soon as he was put in a cell. He requested protective custody. And it was granted sues body was found hidden in a trailer on the farmhouse property the to charge shell of a VCR was found with her remains as well as some coiled springs which probably came from the missing love. Seat botanical samples from from the area would match the samples from beneath the suburban. So sues remains of course were severely damaged by the fire. But there were no tool. Marks works to indicate that she had been dismembered. A large fracture to the left side of her head appeared to be the cause of death but she also had fractured ribs and fractured vertebrae. So Rick's bill is said it. Nine hundred fifty thousand dollars and reform charges murder unauthorized authorized. Use of a vehicle tempting to brag but witness and tampering with evidence. The defense requested a bail reduction of one hundred thousand one dollars. The judge did lower the bill to five hundred fifty thousand bricks. Parents were retired. They can only come up with thirty thousand. Yes another the issue of the children. Rick tried to convince his brother David and his wife to take custody of his boys but David refused so that whole family. They kind of seem like like jerks from what I've read. Jerks might be a little strong but they are dysfunctional. Yeah I mean I guess the other two brothers were basically letting their wives support them as as well but I don't know if they were as dysfunctional as Rick Pick some noon yeah but rick's two younger boys were placed in foster care and the oldest boy had to be put in a facility with programs that were specialized for counseling. Traumatized children so that way actually had seen in recent things so sad. re-experience were not physically capable of raising. Your grandchildren narrows a big age difference between suing her other siblings so they felt they were well. Beyond the age to raise. Young children are sister. Anne was willing to adopt one of the boys. They wanted the children and and up with family and stay in their lives in Rick's parents were working with their bank to try and come up with bail money but they found out that rick had taken over over sixty thousand dollars from their home equity account but reclaimed it unseal and they took rick side. They believed him so while in jail Rick's father died of natural natural causes and Rick Wasn't well liked by his fellow prisoners so several roommates requested a change and rick incurred several violations for contraband. The band including silly things like candy in as it prepared for Trial Prosecution considered that the defense team might try and claim Suez killed Eldon self defense or by accident that they believed that this stolen suburban would squash does arguments. Then there's also the electronic evidence from Rick Hacking into suits computer and the blood evidence they would not have any McFarland. Children take the stand because they didn't want traumatize him anymore. Already been yeah well. That seems like the sensible thing. The poor kids ain't who knows what they went through that week. It's just hard to imagine terrible than one voice said moms in a deep sleep. So what does that tell you that he might have seen his mother dead right murder soon. The dead mom. My God we'll before jury selection was done a plea agreement was announced to the court in the deal. Rick McFarland waived his right to a jury trial in the murder charge and the other charges were dropped but he lost custody of his children and accepted a sentence of forty years with the possibility ability of parole after twenty years so to me I mean. That's a heavy sentence but it's kind of light considering what he did there her. Thanks so the children turn continued in therapy and they learned that their dad had admitted to killing their mom so that had to be really hard for them to accept. I don't know how you live with that doc. Their father's parental rights would be terminated officially that April. Amiri cousin of sues. Who lived in Georgia agreed to adopt the two older McFarland boys but just two weeks? After the boys arrived at their house they changed their minds says sister and begged them to keep the boys because they hadn't even even had time to adjust right. It's only been two weeks. I know but they declined saw. I think that's kind of Shitty. I mean I know. Raising kids is an easy. When thank you like? If one of my sisters died in they had young kids I would just take those kids. I would question it will. Of course yeah. Even if there's some hesitation two weeks is way too soon to make any firm decision on it. Right I agree. I think that's Shitty. Doesn't seem like it was a very good family so maybe maybe in the long run. It's better they didn't end up with those people. Probably because in two thousand five the original foster parents adopted the two younger boys the the oldest boy who'd been in the institution and probably knew what his father did to his mother. He was eventually adopted by a single middle aged woman who was educated in Child Development Element in child welfare and they thought this was a good fit for him because there wouldn't be any other kids in the house and she could really give him the one on one attention and he could get intensive therapy so I hope he was successful in. That won't be interesting. To see bothers. Kids are turning out right but I have to give credit to the people who did adopt them. They weren't even family emily. No when family members didn't and who am I to judge but I just can't imagine turning away kids that are in my family so we really don't know what made Rick Mcfarland into the man who stole the mother from his three sons but his parents did defend him and they seemed eager to blame named sue for everything..

"It she said no it was okay he could leave it there then minutes later. Harriet wells arrived at the house and she thought it was odd that Rick had parked in her driveway but she knew he was odd and didn't think too much about it then. Rick reached one of. Sue's CO workers at her office on the phone. The woman who answered the phone had not seen sue but she said that another employee had seen her now. This would turn out to be a case of mistaken identity. Hannity but rick seem pleased or amused because he chuckled. When he heard this recalled sues work phone one more time at four fifteen pm and he I left another message Margot called him after that to see if he attacked sue? She told him to try talking to her boss to see if she had been at work or if she was still there. Air At four. Am on Wednesday November. Twenty seventh a neighbor saw seuss explorer beck out of their driveway and drive away now. Suicide Predictable Ebel. Going to bed at nine thirty PM waking at five. Am So it was really strange to see her car out that early in the morning. Margo called Rick again on Wednesday and he was pretending that the boys weren't with him. She asked if he thought that sue had gone to Amarillo with the boys and he said he didn't know now even even though the boys were at the House with him at this point so he's definitely lying leading her. That's right yeah nearby rural Beck Sar County. The witness took notice of a suburban and a black SUV. They've had driven by him more than once. A both of these cars matched the descriptions of the suburban urban parked at the Texaco and Susan Explorer. This witness assists smoke rising from an abandoned farmhouse right but he didn't connect these things together of course note later on. He would then late Wednesday night or even early Thursday morning. Another Becker. County resident noticed a suburban parked in front of an abandoned farmhouse. He so there is a man near the vehicle with a bald head. So this resident. I could be teenagers up to no good say slowed down and open and his window but what he's so wasn't a team but an adult male who is carrying a dark bag towards the woods. This guy is considered a for help. Nope but when the man looked at him he just got the creeps so he never said anything just drove away said just before three. AM Thanksgiving morning. An officer on patrol noticed a black Ford explorer parked in an empty lot and lazy lane he parked and looked inside the SUV which was on locked with no one inside the keys. Were still in the ignition. So he removed them and locked the doors. He called in the plate and found out that it was registered. It to Richard and Susan Mcfarland a police dispatcher called the McFarland House and Rick answered. He acted surprised and said he didn't know we're lazy. Lane was esther estuary. It was then he said well. My wife is supposed to be an Amarillo. So the officer said await for you come on over. Pick up the car but he said he should just take the keys to the police station and he picked them up there because he's waiting for a phone call at home yes Richton WanNa meet the policeman spin at the car rosary which was weird. Because shouldn't he be concerned wise my wife's SUV parked there. I mean at this point. He hasn't seen her in two days the three days at least since Monday night according to him so early that morning neighbors heard a circular saw running at the McFarland House it. It was possible that Rick was cutting up. That love seat if you think about it because the love seat like I said was never seen again after that. Rick spoke to one of seuss's friends in Amarillo and he pretended that he expected soon to be with them now. This is despite everything. So he's just lying you know and the kids were with him plus even even if all that wasn't true so wouldn't have gone away for Thanksgiving without her sons so interviewed by the police. Rick said that sue was supposed to go to Amarillo on Monday. Not Not true but he contradicted himself moments later saying that. Su told him on Monday that she would be going to Amoah later that week. Rick said the last time you saw Osu was at nine thirty PM on Monday. And he said she left the house to deliver some gifts to friends. He said she never came home after that though so by that story. So you've got three days elapsed without rick doing much of anything to try to find Su. I'm sure the police were suspicious. Right away or your spouse. Yeah now the boys said that they didn't do anything special for Thanksgiving and when one of their friends visited and played on the trampoline Thursday morning. This kid saw rick wearing in chains with latex gloves on his hands in Richton show up at the police station to pick up the explorer keys until almost six. PM on Thanksgiving Day. Ed That's over fourteen hours after they'd call notified him and when he did show up he was wearing new. White canvas work gloves and a long sleeved jacket. He told the police that he had run too lazy lane to look for the car but he hadn't found it an officer had rick. Follow him in the Winstar where the explorer was in plain view. So there was no way that he could have run out there to that area and not seen his wife's SUV through so this point the officers getting more suspicious suspicious and worried and he gets a better look inside of that SUV. There was an upholstered chair a car seat and a gift basket inside but there were or no obvious. Signs of a crime rick for his part refused to approach the car which was odd so instead of going over to the car at all he just told the officer that he had to get home and care for his children and he left the scene quite quickly so the police wanted to come to the McFarland home in order to talk with Rick and help out and searching for Soo but rick insisted he didn't want any police there. I didn't ask if they had any leads about civil her express expressing emotion at all and he agreed to return to the police station. That coming Friday so early Friday morning the police went to the CHROMA. Kaos to ask is questions. They explain his suicide missing and when they heard that the boys were with Rick they were alarmed suid not have left without them. They were sure that rick done something to her. And Margot didn't trust rick alone with the boys so she went to the McFarland House right after the police left her house and Rick was home with his has three boys. When Rick came to the door he was wearing gloves on both of his hands? And one of the boys told Margo that Rick had cut his hand so she asked to you see the cut but he refused to remove his gloves. Also on that day really changed the home. VOICEMAIL MESSAGE TO SAY Rick McFarland's office instead instead of the usual family message that was on there at ten thirty. AM patrol officer. Went back to lazy lane to see if the explorer was still there and it was says and when he opened the front passenger door he saw red spot on the council between the two front seats. That looked suspicious. It looked like blood so he called right away to have the SUV impounded. Then the explorer was towed to police storage the officer then went to the Furlan Caroline home in one of the boys answered the door when the officer asked him to go get his mother. He said he couldn't do that. She didn't want to be disturbed because she is is in a deep sleep. Yeah that's pretty creepy. Ya well then. Then the officer asked him to get his dad and the boy said his dad was US asleep and refused to wake him so the officer left. Yes so it turns out. Rick was hiding in the house yeah. The McFarland said a housekeeper. Who came once a week and she showed up just before one PM on Friday? All of the boys were home. But Rick Wasn't there. The housekeeper noticed that the house was much neater than usual usual also a trash can VCR in the left seat. Were missing. Sue normally left a check for the housekeeper on the refrigerator but there was no check there that it day rick did go to the police station and he asked if there could have been a carjacking but that was preposterous. They said that's not a likely scenario here. Here hijackers take the car not the person right. It would park a few miles away then. Rick finally called Sue Sister Anne on Friday the first thing he said to an was you know her suicide so as confused as she did no suicide missing. She tried to get more information from Rick. The Standard said he had to go and hung up on her so that was scary so an called her other siblings to let them know what seemed to be going on. And then she called Hedrick's mom Mona and she was surprised when Mona said she already knew soon disappeared because having an affair yes definitely rick had already talked to her and told her that sue was having an affair and had left him for another woman but the owner of the vacant house across the street. Harriet wells draft by her house across the street that Friday and she was shocked to find the stolen suburban parked inside her garage in order for someone to access that garage judge. You'd have to get through the gate and the garage to activate the automatic door opener. Some old furniture also would have had to been moved out of the way to pull into the garage. Harriet knew that the McFarland's didn't have a suburban but she's still immediately thought of Rick. So that tells you a lot. Those doesn't yeah so Harriet climbed into the suburban to search for clues in terms of who had been driving in who left it there in the backseat. She found a basket with clear plastic folder and inside the folder she found Rickman Berlin's AAA card. A credit card saw this weird stuff makes me think there was more than just evil murder here. There's a lot of mental illness with this guy absolutely. Yeah he's not right so Harriet also noticed some other things in a garage. That certainly weren't hers to gasoline containers. Two bottles insecticide two bags of charcoal a half empty bottle of cleaner. Hannah Roll of paper towels now. The charcoal gasoline alarmed her and she third while he's killed Sudanese burner body. So tells you a lot that something that heinous would come to her mind so easily. Kidding right must've had a real good opinion of whole so rick right. So Harried of course called the police and meanwhile there were other police across the street at the Mcfarland House knocking on the front door and no one was was answering but they knew rick was home and they continue to watch the house and once rick believed the police had left. He emerged from the house wearing bright orange pants and a white t shirt. He ran to his car and drove away and police followed him then. Fifteen minutes later rick returned pulling back into his driveway and the police car parked across the street rick then went straight into his garage. Came out with an extension cord and his circular saw he plugged it in and and started it and then he cut a line across the pavement of his driveway with a circular saw super strange thing to do right strange but it turns. Saudi was probably trying to remove any DNA from the blade by getting it hot and running through the cement. Your it's probably good for because it seems like he ran back home to destroy evidence because he knew the police were following him so super weird so as police were talking inherit in her garage. Rick was nearby pacing back and forth. The undercarriage to the suburban was covered in mud in vegetation and on the bumper. There is a bloody thumbprint. So the plates on the suburban didn't match the car when the owner the place was contacted. He said that. A man at the Texaco station offered to drive him to the airport. And parkas suburban Beckett has house for so his description matched that of Rick McFarland furrow and so it looks like rick taken. That man's plates and put them on the those suburban. That was herself to Texaco. Yeah did some kind of transporting of the body or something. I mean it really shows a lot of Wacky nece. Because he's already pulled the carpet out of the Windstar. Why is he involving another vehicle? Well L. is a couple of things about that. One is his mentally ill. Well that's what I'm saying. That's my point here is that it's really not making a lot of sense. I mean the actually used three different cars here here could have simplified it. Yes plus he's leaving blood. Yeah the wells garage was secured secured a crime scene as two officers approached Rick and asked him to sign a consent to search his house and he did agree. He called Margot to pick up the children while the house was being searched and when they searched the master bedroom and bathroom investigators right away saw blood droplets on the wall and some other smears that looked blake. They had been blood when they searched the WINDSTAR. That's when they noticed that the carpet had all been pulled out soon after the boys retaken by Margo to her house records interviewed in his living room..

"The holiday weekend so that he wouldn't want to stay home home with him. Yes sue plan to stay home and make a Thanksgiving meal for her children in a couple of friends from Houston if rick went to his parents but but if rick refused to go to his parents than sue would have to go to Amarillo with the boys because the thing was she didn't want to be home with him over the weekend so either she was sending him away or she was going away. You know she was a very detailed planner. She even reserved a hotel room for Rick to go to. After he was served with divorce papers she sent an email to her sister. Anne detailing her concerns in the email sue wrote that rick was becoming more secretive and remote each day. She wondered if he was doing some planning of his own. She said she couldn't tolerate four days at home with him over the holiday weekend because the tension was just too much to take tick now at the vacant house across from the McFarland's house. There is a black Labrador retriever. Who is staying there until the family moved left and he was in the backyard behind a locked gate though? Harriet wells came by the House daily. Feed him and spend some time with Leeann. They were just waiting for the fence to be put at at their new house yet. So at ten o'clock one night the doug was found by another neighbor walking down the street brigade had been left wide open. Now somebody had to have been on the wells' property because the ducks can open the gate by himself. It's impossible so the neighbor returned the dog to his yard. Lash the gate. YEA well. It's impossible unless you have a dog. Like our hank he can open doors. Yeah the stock couldn't do that. Not Smart like Hank now. Well on the Wednesday of the week before Thanksgiving so not the day before Thanksgiving but a week and a day before Thanksgiving rick inform sue that she should feel free to go away for Thanksgiving. Thanks giving weekend because he decided to stay home so wreck and one of his sons visited. Richard clamours Texaco station and Rick looked at two cars that were parked there that had for sale signs. He got the key to a jeep from clamor and took it for a test drive. He returned that twenty minutes later and then took the key to a suburban Bourbon. He was gone with the suburban for two hours when he got back. He told clamor that his wife like the suburban but he liked the jeep then he left a fake name and a phone number in clamours message book. He said he was going out of town for a week or so but he'd be back then. Suu called a friend in Amarillo and made plans to visit her for Thanksgiving thanksgiving and she and her girlfriend made plans to hire a babysitter to watch their kids so they could shop together on Black Friday. The Friday after Thanksgiving Rick called the Texaco and spoke with employees Fernanda a`demos. He said that a friend of his had test driven the jeep and it broke down on Austin highway. He asked him to pass the message on to clamor. So the jeep was actually parked at the gas pumps at station across from the Texaco. And the GPS key fitting the ignition but wouldn't didn't start it so edna's pushed the jeep out of the way and went back to the Texaco. Then clamor later. Had the jeep moved back to the Texaco that Friday November twenty second. Rick stopped at the Texaco again to speak with clamor any told them about his friends. Problem with jeep and so that his wife really liked the suburban then. He again said that he would be out of town but he'd be back on Monday or Tuesday before Thanksgiving now sooner sons met some neighbors for dinner that Friday and Sue told them that rickets spent all the money in their joint bank account and she had given him a deadline that it had to be returned by and that Friday night. Rick didn't get at home until after midnight and refused to tell sue where he had been no that Sunday. Su took the boys to church and then she gave a birthday party for Margo Cromer Romak at her house. That night neighbors came to the party bringing their children. Kids are playing outdoors jumping on the trampoline and the adults were inside site chatting and enjoying the party now. Sue tuck direct very little at the Party and some time in the evening. Rick went upstairs to bed guest in his eighties. Having some chest pain and an ambulance was called even with all this commotion going on. Rick never came down from the bedroom and after most of the guests had gone home. Suits that with Margolin chrome Mak chatting sipping champagne. Sil is happy with how the party it turned out and are giving her a nice break from worrying about our problems that she had with recruit now sure well. She had a dentist appointment on Monday. November twenty fifth and and she went to it and had a crown replaced and then she headed into work at eight thirty that morning. Fernando Adem s showed up at the clamorous Texaco at Seven. Am that day for work when he had gone home the night before. The suburban was still there with the for sale. Sign on it but that morning it was missing the whole suburban. Not just the sign fine once at work that day. Su Notice that someone had deleted the messages that had been left under voicemail and she knew it had to be rick she called a friend and after discussion. She decided that she would stay home for Thanksgiving now. She and her friend were concerned that if she tried to leave with the boys for the holiday rick might get violent. Went things were getting to that point so she called her sister Anne and told her about Rick's odd behavior then she called her niece. Kristen told older about her plans to divorce. Rick when Kristen Asu if she was afraid of Rick. Su said that he might hurt her but she didn't believe he would ever hurt the kits so after these calls sue got another call this one from her attorney. They win over their plans. Tuesday sue would go to the attorney's office to modify improve her divorce petition and also a restraining order against wreck. She left work at six PM on Monday stopped at the grocery store on her way home that night. She helped boys with their homework and got ready for bed. Now as the kids slept rick beat his wife to death. With a blunt object blood blitz splattered the walls and floor droplets would be found in the woven wastebasket. The bathroom scale the closet door and the door frame will you. Now Sufaat got him Rick's blood was found mixed in with some of hers and he had injuries on his face and hands. Only Rick of course knows for sure what he did next ext he may have left her body on a love seat that had been in their room near the bathrooms entrance because the love seat was missing the next day. The McFarland's Windstar van was missing. It's carpet the next day. Also and in the Ford explorer that was primarily sues car. The floor mats were missing. Some point sues buddy. It had been moved to the suburban. That Rick Stall from the Texaco station. DNA testing would prove that it was her blood on one of the floor mats. The masseuse hairs were found in the suburban also he had between one thirty and two. AM The McFarland's next door. Neighbors were out walking their dogs and they saw the white Windstar Star. Van In the McFarland's driveway with all the rear and side doors wide open and rick was out there with shop. Vac early Tuesday morning joining before seven. Thirty A M Rick called Sues Work Number. He left a message asking if she had gotten up early that morning and asked her to columbine on a cell aw at seven forty five. Am Margot crewmax daughter. Sauces explorer parked across the street and Rick was walking away from it. Margaret Margaret drove her kids to school that morning and headed for day trip to Crawford Texas as she's on her way she got a call from Rick McFarland and he has to. She had gotten any messages left for her the night before. He said he had called her ten fifteen very specific here because he couldn't find where sewers. Who was yes so ten fifteen Monday night? He said he'd been looking for. You'RE GONNA start getting our Alibi Sitta right and Rick told Margo Argo. That sue went out never came back Monday night so according to him she had gone out to run some errands and he told Margo that he had called seuss work phone on but she hadn't answered and she hadn't called him back and he also said that the boys taken the bus to school. But you know Margot didn't believe Rick. She was pretty familiar. With what a Weirdo he was. She was so she called the school and she learned that none of the boys were at school that day so she just guessed that soon. The boys must've list of left for Amarillo for the Thanksgiving holiday. They must have left a few days earlier than they had originally planned. But later that morning Rick took his oldest son the school they had to stop in the Office for Tardy Slip and the receptionist saw that the boy was only wearing one shoe so the school nurse had to give him a pair of shoes news. Of course they also noticed that Rick had scratches and blood on his face and his ear and he was wearing gloves on his hands. He told them he fell while he was out running running. In the meantime sues friends were calling her cell phone and leaving messages for her at ten. Forty am rick called her work phone again any yesterday..

"Sue even painted Margot's children's bedroom and Margot planted roses in the McFarland's yard. Yes so pretty. Close Group peeps yes good neighborhoods. Situation Rights have neighbors like that. Suan Margot would take their kids to the Saint Louis Zoo often in the afternoons to tire them out for bedtime. Margot's husband Doug was a medical resident president who wasn't home very much but rick kicked in and really helped out. He took the Chroma boy along with his two sons outside when he did lawn maintenance and taught got them about sports stuff like that like he'd be mowing the lawn and then the little boys would follow with their bubble mowers so seem like an okay. Dad is willing to play with kids. That's a good deal so things seem to be going along. Fine at least. From the periphery but then in nineteen ninety three and July. Hi Rik lost his job again now. He came home and he told sue that he had been fired unfairly. He says just days away from a one year mark and a net that case he would have been eligible for union support so so took him at his word when he said this she is angry for him and she called her sister Anne who who happened to be an attorney so Anto Sushi should look into what happened before doing anything to Jesus soon as an executive there and she didn't want to put her own job on the war yes assu did do some investigation and she found out that two employees had asked for transfers because they didn't want to work with Rick Two other employees had gone to management and they've threatened to quit if rick was not fired also after firing rick. His supervisor was afraid of him because Rick reacted with rage so the supervisor requested an escort to and from her car for months after that so when sue her that I mean she's an executive there imagine it was embarrassing and upsetting and of course then he couldn't get unemployment. No kidding not let that. And she's thinking you know she's going to bat for him and she's finding out. That is pretty much lied to her again. I mean I really sympathized with this so this time he was out of the job for just a couple of months. So that's better than fifteen months anyway. Yeah and then. He got another telemarketing position. He worked for a company selling dining in cars and one day he came home in a nice new Mercedes and he told sue is new. Bush had given the car to him. Sue Kinda got worried right. It's an unlikely Mike with story. Yeah she really didn't believe it. No and she never got a real explanation or whatever. The car was returned by Rick a few days later so they even keep it. Yeah and their second son was born in September of ninety three and then they decided to try again in ninety six because Suwon at a daughter better but she did have a miscarriage and she finally gave birth to a third son in March of ninety seven. She was still happy with the baby. Of course I mean she wanted a daughter better but still gonNA love a son and she considered her family complete. That was it no more kids then. In nineteen ninety eight sue was again promoted at southwestern Bell Dell. She kept that position for four years but then things that that company were getting a little shaky there was a planned consolidation of southwestern with Packbell Bell. And that could have meant the end of her position. The McFarland's neighbors the chrome axe had moved to San Antonio a year earlier so soon rick took third boys to visit and they decided they really liked the city. The comax showed them around ensue as excited about the prospect of a fresh start in a new city. Maybe things will get better between her and Rick if they get a fresh start she thought were sure when well the problem that that is wherever he goes. He's there were yeah I. I think I'd be more excited about the prospect of a fresh start if I go in there without my husband yet. Don't think she was at that point yet. I took to her husband. uh-huh well sure but I think at this point she still wanted to have a family Andrews pitcher. Yeah well I wasn't going to say that. So Southwestern Bell L. had moved their corporate headquarters to San Antonio and after the McFarland's returned home sue applied for a position there and was called in furred interview. She got the job and ricky and got a job offer from San Antonio Transportation Selling ad space for city buses so whether Missouri House was on the market sue stayed there and rick went ahead to work in San Antonio. The ended up staying with the chromosomes for a few weeks. Now Margot and Doug noticed some things a little bit strange about rick. He often stayed up all night and slept during the day. Not Terribly strange but a lot of times when he did sleep. It is crashed on top of his bed fully dressed well. I think it's Kinda strange if you're staying in someone's house in your up walking around in the night. That might make them feel uncomfortable would me. Yeah but sue supervise the move and she cared for the three boys and she even wrote encouraging letters to her husband. She wrote to him that she believed in him. And she knew he would be a big success in San Antonio then when sooner boys moved to San Antonio she began her new position as an industry market revenue analyst and this was a position with big responsibility and an even bigger salary continuing to move up yes now in San Antonio the McFarland's new home had this be open floor plan perfect for parties there in a nice neighborhood just a few miles from downtown good schools trendy businesses nice close up and coming yes so settled into a middle class community with other young families. Sooner boys were well liked but some of ricks odd behavior. A year was off putting to the neighbors. The first incident happened right after they moved in the family in the house behind them were away for the weekend and and they came home to find their heck berry was missing and there was a fresh stump where the tree had been so at first the millers thought that the city had cut down their tree to to work on power lines but Mr Miller called the city and they denied having anything to do with it. So Rick was in the yard with his boys and Mr Miller walked over to the back fence and introduced himself after making some small talk. Mr Miller asked Rick if he had seen his tree which had been there on Friday when they left and rick just shrugged and said no until Miller asked him outright had cut down the tree and Rick admitted that he had cut down their tree Eh. He said he'd done it because the tree was dropping too many leaves into his yard. So Miller told Rick you know you can't just go into someone else's yard and cut down their tree free this is Texas. You're going to get yourself shot but rick didn't seem really to care. He didn't apologize. He did say that he would make it up to Miller Miller so he promised to create a website. For Miller's business muehler thought that was weird but he decided that you know Rick Zabit off okay. So he kind of forgot about at the offer until two weeks later rick calls them up and Rick told him he was finished with his website and it would cost him twenty five hundred dollars. Miller Miller said he thought the offer was too for free to make up for taking down his tree so he refused to pay untold. Rick just forget it but rick persisted stead and tried to get the money out of them even told him he'd already registered the domain name so he had to pay for it and Miller said no way just leave me alone orbit the way that goes down. He admits to cutting down the tree. And says I'M GONNA make up too young and design your website. No mention of money or anything. Well sure and now there is yeah. It's just well now. He's just makes me think he's like this shady guy right is kind of a con man. It sounds like you saw Miller passed along his story to a friend and when this friend heard Rick's name he recognized it he told millet. Rick McFarland was a crook. 'cause he he had tried to so a bus add to this guy but he declined then a few days later McFarland's boss called and he thinks this guy for major advertising contract but he hadn't in done that he had signed it turned out that Rick and forged the name of the contract. Yes so he forged this guy signature. Who had turned him down? And that's how it started off the sales job so rick lost another job next. He moved onto clear blue media Internet advertising sales for a few months and then he moved on to stay home working on self employment schemes and carrying I three sons so kind of a bitter disappointment for sue. But you know she tried tried to make the best of it. Well at least he's home with the kids roker but after that heck berry tree incident neighbors had another issue with the McFarland's dog. Sally Sally had this small gravelled area. She stated when she wasn't playing in the main yard with the boys but she was unhappy out there when she was left out there and she would bark consistently. Mr Miller approached wreck and asked if he had heard a dog barking at night and Rick said no that another neighbor. who was concerned about that? Sally asked Rick Why he never let her into the house. Rick said that Sally had chewed on a rug and that his wife sue had been unhappy about it so the neighbor suggested while get her toy chew on but Rick said that would only teach her to chew more but the neighbor knew he was lying he was just full of it whenever he was out of town. Suit kept sally in the House with her. Every night sue really loved that dog and had even given her the name that she'd been saving for her daughter if she never had Edwin and even know. Rick and Steve Miller didn't get along sue and carry Miller or a Steve's wife did become quite close carry center the play with the McFarland boys frequently but Kerry wasn't comfortable in your son play at the McFarland house when sue wasn't there so I was just rick. He gave her the creeps and went along with their dad. The McFarland boys were more out of control and needed more supervision. And then when they were their mom Su there were like different kids polite and calmer then in nineteen ninety nine rick became involved with promise keepers and organization promoting fatherhood and traditional marriage based on biblical values. He attended the San Antonio Men's conference at the Alamodome. The modem thousands.

She could be rebellious. She sometimes with skipped class or went home for lunch and just didn't bother returning to school after lunch but she got away with a lot. She was talented at making elaborate excuses. That are teachers and parents usually believed so sue and sandy graduated high school together in nineteen eighteen. Seventy seven sue then went to a private girls' college in Fulton Missouri. Sandy stayed in Saint Louis and went to Washington University so they are less. Listen two hours apart. So they're able to visit each other pretty often. Yeah but when sue announce she was majoring in accounting. Her friends were pretty surprised. She seemed to fund fund to be a serious number crunching office person but sue really enjoyed accounting. She was fun and adventurous but she also was very disciplined organized also. She really admired her dad. who had an accounting degree? So after graduating in the top of her class suit took a position with Santa the energy in Amarillo Texas while she was working there she got her. CPA and the next summer. She traveled to Saint Louis to be Sandy's maid definer Sandy's marriage would last only four years but soon would always be there to listen to her and give her advice then ensued took a second job after working for a while with Santa Fe energy. She moved to Midland Texas and had a position with N run run. Yes the notorious company but at the time it was well respected. It was a good company. This is before they had their slippery slide. Yes now after six months of working with Enron. She is transferred to their headquarters in Houston and in Houston. Sue spent a lot of time with her former sister-in-law. Debbie Debbie had had been married and divorced. Sue's older brother Pete. Souza would go to her nephew soccer games and she had shopped the Debbie on the weekends she left to shop for clothing and and she dressed nicely so she set up an exchange with your friends and Murillo so that they ought quadruple their wardrobes by sharing so in nineteen eighty seven. Salary and Kristen was still struggling but a suge close to thirty. She began to worry about finding a partner and having a family. She told a French French. She wanted to have kits and she'd like to stay home and raise them while loving husband would work to support them and they live in a nice suburban house and and then she met Rick Mcfarland and he seemed to fit the bill of the Kinda guy she wanted at least to begin with. Yeah so rick was the second son of Dick and and Mona McFarland of Kirkwood Missouri. When he is a young kid the family moved to Saint? Louis he grew up in webster groves with his two brothers. David David and done in high school. He is a big water polo player and he worked on the staff of the school newspaper. He went to southwest South West Missouri State University in Springfield after high school but had difficulty concentrating so while he was here his diagnosed with attention deficit disorder and put on medication. And with the mets he was able to maintain a B average so he graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration nation and got a job with stockbrokerage company. Shearson Lehman. I did pretty well. There drove a beamer. Had a carriage Charles lived in an upscale port town right so from just hearing that you'd say Oh this is a pretty great guy. Why would you because he's got a BMW BMW? Well it seems like a good prospect. He's got a job right. He's having heard anything. Says he's a jerk right. That's what I'm saying but you know like everybody else. He did have issues but he was pretty good at hiding them for most people. He did get in trouble one time in college for stealing but the charges were dismissed. One of his former dates said that rick made her very uncomfortable after they had two dates his because she told him she didn't want to see him anymore but he persisted calling her to the point where she was afraid of him and then she caught him hiding in the bushes outside of her house stalking getting her concern. Yes but of course. Sued doesn't know about any of this right and sue and Rick had actually attended the same high school all but they didn't really meet each other until they bumped into each other at a party in Saint Louis. Rick was much quieter than Su so they seemed like kind of unlikely unlikely couple when they began dating but to sue she felt like she hit it off with him again. Not not to demean sue. But we've already talked about how she's hitting thirty and she's thinking like time is running out so maybe she settled for something not quite the top of her list list. Yeah that's what a lot of people close to her. Actually thought bird. No he review would do in a pinch enough. I'd go that far but I guess she didn't seem like she was head over heels like he was you know her prince charming but thought he would do you would do when he seemed like a nice stable guy but he wasn't nearly as clever or witty. Assu you know sue was really fun but you know. Rick seemed like he could be a good match for her. She could be the outgoing one and he could keep her grounded but still sandy and kristen thought that sue probably was settling a bit with Rick just because she wanted to start a family and she was getting being older see. Yes you're very right so sue would be the take charge one in this relationship. They both enjoyed parties. They like to spend time with friends and suggests love to plan get togethers with her friends in.

Sue took took a position with southwestern Bell Corporation in Saint Louis her position and the people she worked among their lead her into a more glamorous life if she started attending charity Events Dinner Parties and Gallery openings and she was happy to be back living near her friend Sandy. They began spending more and more time together having lunch taking aerobics classes which was a big thing at the time she was also reunited with her niece Kristin during this time they were only a few years apart and became good friends so they went out on the weekend nights and sue was happy to pay kristen's way because Sumeida good it. She could be the outgoing one and he could keep her grounded but still sandy and kristen thought that sue probably was settling a bit with Rick just because she wanted to start a family and she was getting being older
