"Still a couple hours away, but fans are enjoying Broadway in everything connected to it as we will get back to your phone calls at 8 5 5 two four two 7 two 8 5 and will as a North Carolina hello will. Hey, Paul good afternoon. An occasional call from dust and is still far too many times. But Paul, two or three knots ago, I was watching Elvis 68 comeback special. And I would like to flatter you for a minute. There are a lot of similarities that see between you and Elvis. I mean, if you had hair, I would thank you or his brother. But my question, Paul is, this is just a historical question. My family's big Elvis fans. It's kind of like football. Just one of those things is your family is an Elvis fan. It just gets passed down. But my mom's a big JFK saying and since you're such a dinosaur, I'm going to ask you this question. Which death at the time, rock the nation more JFK's assassination or Elvis press was death. Which one toured the nation. Worse? Let's die. So I feel like I'm somewhat of a, I can connect with both. I don't think there's ever been anything quite like JFK for this reason. Here you have a young president in his 40s shot dead in a motorcade in Dallas, Texas. It was, it was a moment that while both events affected the world, one was significantly more impactful because of the fact that JFK was the president of the United States. And Elvis, even at 42, was clearly in serious decline as an entertainer. Real quick, Friday. I'm headed to the ACC tournament myself and going to grab all the memorabilia hand

"Even the teams are at the bottom, and he's a plate tonight. Those guys are playing all season long. What I worry about is have because of how physical and defensive this league is. Are we all going to leave here tired heading into the NCAA tournament? Because we've beaten the snot out of each other all year long. And I don't know if you go back and this year we did this in the tournament and did that in the NCAA. I mean, obviously you got a pretty good record a couple of years ago to look at when you went to the final four nearly one the whole thing. Is there any way to just data support one way or the other? I don't think the data does, but I think a couple of things have to happen as you plan right now. Obviously defensive rebound and carry the day. You got to take good care of the ball and not turn the ball over and can you start to shoot it better right now. Teams are able to do those four things. I think of the teams that are going to wind up advancing in March. For the lay people after watching, you always hear people talk about the tournament. It looks different. It feels different. What is different once you get to this point? I think what's different about it is all the fan bases are here. Everybody's all here celebrating the year that was. I think there are 8 or 9 teams potentially this year because that could win this tournament. I mean, it's because it's been obviously that competitive. And to the Victor go the spoils. Winning games in January are big, but when we beat Tennessee on Saturday, it was a march win. It felt different, it carried more weight and now for these kids Paul. You know, their own individual successes. Not just my draft physicians. Now they're NIL. Starts to be affected by their success. And we've had honest conversations. You play well at this time of the year. You're NIL can improve here at auburn or let's say you decide to go pro let's say you want to be transferred. The kids are benefiting more now than just the coaches in the schools. Hey, listen, sitting here listening to you, I realize none of us should be surprised by anything anymore, but it is refreshing though to hear a coach embraced that versus hands up going, we need to do this or that. Yes, to a certain extent, but I want the kids to know what's at stake

"Basketball tournament starts in under four hours. You're already hurt. It was not here last year. You may remember that. We were in Tampa where the sun was shining. And then of course I was here previous dad. So this is what it looks like. You have South Carolina and all this tonight. Georgia LSU and the winners move on. Tomorrow, the early game is, let's see. As far as Florida and Mississippi, then Tennessee gets the winner of South Carolina all miss and meanwhile, Brian Kelly wants a lot from Jayden Daniels. He's expecting a lot and we headline there how he's going to deal with it. Of course, we had rabbit lay on yesterday, so there's going to be a competition. We're just not sure how much of one there is. Sam Pittman wants to improve the secondary, got a dog to do it, and shaheem Singletary. He needs a big year. Will Rogers saying I can play in any system? We hear you, will. So what are we going to be doing the rest of the day? We've already had Rick Barnes. The Tennessee coach former Tennessee coach Bruce pearl will be with us in just a few minutes. Damian fishback. Eric musselman haven't talked to him in a while. Stackhouse will be here. His team is red hot. Todd golden ending his first year as Florida's head coach. Christians from Missouri state. And then our first chance to talk to Ron slay, we may need a little more time. We only have 30 minutes to allocate it for the first question. How about your phone calls here at 855-242-7285. We start with John in Louisville. Hey John. Hey, Paul, good afternoon. You're just up the road about a couple hours. I should grab Kenny Payne and come down visit. He's got nothing to do now. Yeah, by the way, I am closer to Louisville. I've already been offered that job because anyone can win four games, that's still hard for me to believe. It is shocking. He is a nice guy. I wish him well. But it takes a little heat off caliper, at least. I was going to talk to you about a list that came out on 24/7 sports by Brett Crawford on the top 35 football coaches for 2023. But first, I see what you're doing with that methodology on the predicted caller recology. Apparently you're putting in names there for proof of life or somewhat as a welfare check. You pulled jara, Jerome out of federal witness protection last night, I noticed yeah, I thought that was one of the more fascinating calls of the year Jerome, who essentially quit the show because he wasn't getting NIL money. Right now, I listen, the committee will start meeting here in Nashville, these are the projected one seeds legend Jim Larry and I'm Ann Dustin Elliott Todd and Chris, some of those are barely known to even the host of the show or the last four in the bubble watch. We had Louisiana Dan who may have moved off the bubble yesterday after his call. AJ with every call gets closer to never being back on the show again and the artist formerly known as Jeff from Columbus. AC from Canada was eliminated from it's a Department of State issue. They were simply will not allow him into the country. I use a terrorist. Thank God. And careful what you wish if Jeff calls him, by the way. So here's the list that Brad Crawford put out. I'm just going to go through it quickly and see if you have any thoughts. Obviously, it's expected Kirby Smith first. Nick Saban second, those are Kirby smart. Third is your favorite Jim Harbaugh. He's done quite well obviously with less talent. Then this one just stood out. That was Sweeney is number four. I don't see that. Brian Kelly, he's hot. He's number 5. Ryan day, he does well except against Michigan. Number 6, Lincoln rally 7 makes sense. Kyle willingham, I think he's great. He's 8. Luke fickle, number 9, I don't see that either. Then you get jazz hypo makes sense. James Franklin at 11, but he went in the top ten, I guess. Sonny dykes makes sense, link kiffin, yes. Here's the one that I have the list here on looking at it. Gee, Jimbo at 14 is fascinating. I know. Last year, Jimbo was really in everybody's top 5 list. Now, again, this is one person's opinion. And I'm not surprised, but I will say this, John, even though I'm looking at it for the first time. So the idea that somebody other than Nick Saban is number one, and I realize I've said a lot about that subject on different programs. It's still taking me some getting used to seeing that. I know. Well, it just says more about Kirby and by the way, Billy Napier number 30, that's not good. Pretty high, really. Laura, yeah. For you know, and I don't mean that, but I mean, building Napier, how else can you slice it? Had an underwhelming first year. I mean, it was a really bad year. And I think Mark Cristobal will improve from number 20. But guess who's missing out this list? The $10 million man up at east Lansing. He's not in the top 35. No, no. He had, he had a worse year than the Jimal fish. Yeah, again, I've already started my Jimbo Fisher for next year. I think he's going to bounce back significantly.

"You know, you look at them two different ways, you know, one, I don't want to take anything away from Vanderbilt and Missouri, because they both played great basketball, but you know, we miss them opportunities to put the game away. And then they made a shot. You got to give one of them. Vanderbilt certainly, you know, it was a defensive breakdown on our point of view, because we knew we had to guard the three point line. We were prepared to go into overtime the necessary, but that was a defensive breakdown. The other one, Missouri had a shot following down from what 40 do you feel better with at least you've had leads. You should have won versus just terrible performances, or when you walk off after that, you just, your mind just has to be numb. I tell you the truth of your nom about any time. You know, because you know you're wanting to win every game, you go out, obviously, but the one, I really felt for our guys because we were down in Missouri game and came back, got to lead. And again, miss free throw, but yet the shot they threw up. We couldn't defend it. There's nothing we could do. But that was a tough one. But again, I give great credit to our guys that they've continued to fight back and been resilient. We haven't had bad practices or any of that. They've been mature about that. The league is really good, Paul. People look at our league. I think we've got the best offensive league in the country. Someone told me today that like the last three games I think Alabama's play to everyone knows how good they are. They've shot less than 30 percent from the three point line, which tells you the coaches in the league and the defenses being played. And so we're in a really good basketball league. We're talking to coach Barnes at the beginning of our program here on Wednesday coach. You've had such success, you've been to the final four. You know what tournaments like this mean in terms of preparing you. Is it more of a simulation for your players? Other than trying to win. Of course, what you've done. But what does this do for your program? You know, I do, you know, everybody through the year say, well, sometimes I remember the year we went to the final four. We had gotten beat Dallas by coach night team and he shook my hand. He said, this is good for you. He said, now go he said, now I go win a national championship, but at that time I didn't think it was good. And maybe it was, maybe it wasn't, but I've never been in a tournament where guys didn't want to win. And what you do learn from these tournaments is exactly that if you don't win, you go home. And so from that point of view, it does prepare you for what's coming next week because you win or you go home and but I do know that players want to play basketball this time. They had much rather stay here and play games and go back to Knoxville and practice. I mean, you've had such a storied career and so much emphasis is put. I think sometimes maybe the second game in a tournament because that's a quick turnaround. It's harder to get ready, but have you learned anything about your own coaching throughout this career because of either the success or the miscues that you've suffered during this time. I've learned a lot. I think when I was younger, I think as a young coach, I tried to control way too much, over prepared, maybe got her gas stuck both mentally and physically and then as I've gotten older, I've realized the importance of being fresh mentally and physically and knowing that it's match ups were very, very important. But the thing that you want to give your team the very best chance to win when I was younger at Texas I tell this story often I had a great athletic director de Los Dodds and a great friend in Eddie Reese to swim coach at one more national championships and you can count. We'd lost a tough game and he came in and he both talked to me about overworking and no one had there at that point in time said that to me, but Eddie told me he said, you know, you weren't a very good player. So you had to work and he said, so you expect that from your players, but he made a comment to me. He said, I've never seen a coach, take a mule and make him a racehorse. But I have seen coaches take racehorses and make them a mule. That is great. And so I've gotten that. And so early answer to your question, I think early in the year I hurt my guys about to think we're going to work. We're going to work. We're going to be prepared. I know we work, but yet understanding through time that you've got to give them the best chance to come out here. And then when I was at Alabama one year with wimp Sanderson, I asked him what he learned from being with coach Bryant. He said, coach Ryan told him he said, you better understand recruiting. You better understand scheduling and you better understand that the coach told me I haven't lost many games, but the ones I lost, I lost on the practice field. And so you don't want to lose it out there. You're going to lose, you want to lose when the light's wrong.

"It is day one of the SEC men's basketball tournament, everybody excited. It's been an extraordinary year in the SEC and we are barely into March Madness with the tournament and of course the NCAA tournament next week. We are here all day all week for that matter, but today very special as we look ahead to the opening round and obviously the games tomorrow and throughout the weekend and we begin the last time we saw a coach Barnes, we were in, I think we talked to you since then, but we were in Knoxville and I don't know if I would be able to keep up with all the things that have happened to you and your program since we last saw you. It's been quite a journey. How are you coach? I'm good, Paul. You know, it's been an interesting year, you know, we obviously got off to a great start by winning in The Bahamas and carried that momentum and then we we've been hit with some injuries like many teams around the country, but really proud of our guys. They've stayed resilient. We've tried to work through a lot of different things, but we're here march and we still are confident team and think that we can make a push. Yeah, I mean, you've had I remember it was about three or four weeks ago. I think we were talking to Seth Greenberg when everyone I think was seemingly healthy on your team and he said, we're talking about an absolutely legit final four team and then I think since he said that things have been up and down injuries, you lost one of your top players the other day for the season. You've had huge wins and really disappointing losses. I don't know how you encapsulated off. You know, you put it in a nutshell right there. Do you hate it? And you know what? We had two really tough back to back buzzer beaters at the against Vanderbilt. And Missouri, but both of them played really well. And we had chances to obviously win those games and but they made the shots that won the game and as you said, we've come back and we responded and then we were hit with some injuries that I think every team deals with so we can't make that as an excuse because we've always believed that we've got enough guys who work through that. But once we really did get everybody back and then Chicago got hurt, which is a tough one, but yet, you know, we had a really nice win against Arkansas, went to auburn and didn't play as well as we know that we needed to their defensively, but I do think we've got to tell you that regardless of what anyone else thinks we feel we've got a chance to play and anybody we play that we think of we can do what we're capable of doing. We've got a chance to win. Not to harp on those back to back buzzer beaters, but I mean, I don't think you could come up with a number in Vegas that what was that like to live through. Well,

"5th ranked Tennessee continued to shine topping Vanderbilt's 77 68. However, coach Rick Barnes said the volunteers had to battle taking over the game after being down by two at intermission, really proud of our team in the second half. I thought we came out. Played better. We had to we had to, but going into this game, I thought it would be this type of game. Every time we play them, it's a grind. "I think this is the iron bow. So it's going to be a topic. No, I'm just curious. I have looked at it and I can't find a way for Alabama to get back in, but I'm sure you could help me out here. Or maybe somebody can. I mean, I know that there are some possibilities. It would include Georgia losing to Georgia Tech in LA shoe and I mean, I'm talking about realistic possibilities for Alabama to get back in. So Alabama is closer to it than they were, but they're still not back in. Let's check in with Lucian and Tennessee. Hello aleutian. Hey, Paul, how are you doing? We are doing great, thank you. I just wanted to call in to and thank the SEC network. For shows like thinking out loud and out of pocket, it was a wonderful distraction during the last political season. It really was nice to get a network program with labs. Is that over, is that stuff over yet? I'm afraid to go back to the news channel. So it seems like no thank you. Let me know where you are. Hey, I wanted to touch on the Tennessee Alabama game. Okay. Rivalry. Okay. I went to Tennessee in the 60s. I know you went there. Yes, sir. But, you know, it was a heritage event for people on both sides. And it was respect back and forth. And I don't know what's wrong with modern science, but they made the respect what they've got a little bit. And also, I wanted to announce Tennessee's uniform for the Vanderbilt game this weekend. To honor Rick Barnes basketball boys, they're going to wear orange striped Jersey and pants with bright orange leggings and an orange and black checkerboard helmets. You heard it first. Lucien, you have you're always been a good news breaker on the show. So thank you very much. I like that. Bobby is in Colorado. Hello, Bobby. Paul, how are you, sir? Doing great. Thank you. I want to wish you a Happy Thanksgiving. Thank you. And I wanted to thank you for your kindness with my wife, Murray's passing back in July. You were very gracious when I spoke to you about her. And I mailed you her biography and you read it. And you read it and you wrote back of an excellent sympathy card with the SEC logo, that touched my heart and I know a touch Marie's heart and I read your letter to her at her grave site and it provided both of us comfort so I wanted to thank you for that. And it just ties in with Thanksgiving and the last call of Lucy and headed on the headwear the fanaticism of the fans. They've lost a lot of respect for their teams that they have always have to wind up being number one and I always relish the times when if I had coach got his team ranked in the top 25, he would be given an extension on his contract, but those days seem to be long gone and we just have to be more dignified and humble. Let me jump in here quickly because we're about to run out of time.

"This episode is brought to you by AT&T, official sponsor of the college football playoff, is checking your team stats at 2 a.m. or watching highlights while eating with your buddies or catching the game during a wedding. All too much. No. Because too much college football is never too much. In AT&T 5G keeps you connected all season long. 5G requires compatible plan and device. 5G may not be available in your area. See ATT dot com slash 5G for you for details. So when I wake up and I try to figure out, okay, who are the teams that have figured out this game the best, meaning that now they're actually just the best teams in the country, right? Who are you thinking of, Myron? Who is a top the whole nation right now in terms of those power rankings at that very top level of this hierarchy? Well, I think Kentucky is always going to be there with the recruiting class that I know they're going to sign. Kentucky is going to have an edge, duke's going to have an edge. For the returning talent for the transfers and even for the freshman just because of their pedigree, their resumes, and then let's also remember facilities play such a major role in this as well. Going from one school to another, you might be at a pretty good school. And then Kansas calls and then you go to their private dorm with a rooftop and a chef and a barbershop and a basketball court all inside the private dorm, that might convince you that you want to go to canvas rather than stay where you are. But hold on, you mentioned a barber and a chef. Yeah. That's where we are now. We got in-house barbers and chefs on college campuses for these teams, man. Okay, well, you go to cabs, man. You can play basketball all night. They've got a basketball court in their private door. They've got a cool barbershop, like a real bomber shop in the dorm. There's like this rooftop set up. And yeah, you got a chef. If you want meal, you're not going down the street to the fast food place. Then you play for the national champions. Those meals are going to be privately cooked and customized by a chef. Yeah, who else? Who else has facilities like that? How unique is that at this point? It's becoming more and more of the norm. I don't know about the chefs and things like that, but having that facility having this sort of customized and automated system, you know, I was at Tennessee a couple of years ago and they have an incredible facility. Rick Barnes is a big video game guy, so he's got like all of these video games set up around the locker room around the practice facility. Rick Barnes is a video game guy in the sense that he appreciates how much players love video games or he himself plays video games. No, no, he's all in on video games. He plays. He's in college that he challenges players on the roster to playing all these games. He's known. And he's good? Very good. One of the best. He has a motorcycle game, know that he plays but apparently golden tea is where he like he's been the king for like a decade. But he's got all this stuff situated in the practice facility. They've got like a movie theater set up where they watch film. And then when you get out of practice and you get out of film, there's this customized meal that you take home and you know like they have so many things that are just there for them at Nebraska, the Dominican Sue just built an Olympic style weight room for them. I mean, that's what you're getting and those are the things that people are talking about. They didn't even like this a bit. But haven't access to some of the little wrinkles at these practice facilities that these arenas. Like that makes a huge difference for how players see these schools. No, now I'm just imagining, I mean, beyond imagining Rick Barnes, picking up the sticks and destroying teenagers. Imagining these teenagers basically like, it sounds like they're just scrolling on Zillow, where they're like, oh, what is this house got? Yeah, I mean, you go to Baylor and you sit at your locker stall and you look up and there's either an Xbox or a PS5 and you're playing games below the Xbox monitor, right? Is a TV that shows all of your individual highlights from throughout the year, right? To get into to get into the practice facility, you put your hand on like this Star Trek thing and it opens the door. It takes your fingerprint, right? So these are the things we're talking about that go beyond name image and likeness that are just about college basketball investing more and more in the product and what they can pitch to all of these potential recruits. I like the idea that coach K retired because he wasn't good at Call of Duty. That could be it, man. Rick Barnes tased the game. People want no parts of him. It golden too. After the break. Why everybody wants a part of Ronnie James? We all know Doran window projects can be a lot. Whether you're making home upgrades or you're a contractor on the job site. The Home Depot can help. They're free millwork virtual apron service makes it easy to get expert assistance without stepping foot in a store. You just call one 8 three three HD apron or you visit Home Depot dot com slash MVA. And their associates can help you find inspiration, order products, and take on installation. Plus, they speak Spanish too. And for the pros working on door or window jobs, they can assist with materials, large orders, and complex requests while you're on the job site, helping save time and money. So if you need a little assistance with your door and window projects, take a timeout and contact millwork virtual apron at The Home Depot. The Home Depot. How doers get more done? So Myron in the middle of all of this increasingly gilded chaos. Let's call it. I do need to ask you about brownie James. Because Ronnie, if you somehow don't have Internet access, but are listening to this podcast. Ronnie is LeBron's older son. He is a kid who probably grew up with all of the amenities you've talked about at these fancy new facilities in his house already. And so what is the race to land him looking like? Is he even going to college? You all saw it's part to him going to college and I think it'll be a huge storyline. I got to get broader James credit. I don't know how you evolve and grow when your father is the greatest player of all time with that spotlight. I mean, I've been out of the event with Ron James with his security detail and some high school girls wanted to come and take selfies and the security team was like, everybody back 5 feet. But he's become still like a normal young man and I think it's just so difficult to imagine doing that. So I think Ronnie James, wherever he goes, will be the biggest story probably in college basketball. It'll be bigger than DJ Wagner, who's the top recruit. It'll be bigger than Oscar shiwei went into wooden award again just because of who he is and what that will mean for whatever school he choose. just a question about, man, this kid is a top 30 recruit. It's man. This is a top 30 recruit who has essentially the eyes of the entire Internet and the mainstream sports media always on them, basically. Yeah, I'm guessing wherever he signed next year, I will be there frequently, you know, just because it's just going to be the main story, but on top of it is bronn is actually made himself like a legit prospect. I mean, that's the story that people are talking about. It's not just his dad's LeBron. He's gotten a lot better and people haven't had a chance to see that. And I think they will, whenever you get the

Anyway, thanks Matt. This man is in Tennessee. Hey Matt, good afternoon. Yep, Paul. Hey buddy. How are you? I am. I'm doing great. Thank you for asking. I'd love to take you to Calhoun, but I can't. Well, I appreciate the offer. Yes, sir. And I appreciate you. I appreciate the weather and I appreciate this beautiful city. We're going with anywhere in the country. Always. So do you remember talking to me? We spoke about two weeks ago about LSU. Yeah? And I said, give or take ten. In our linebackers, we may be a little bit weak. And I spoke about Alabama. I'm just refreshing you because I know you have so much going on and you're awesome at it. And I'm born and raised UT hospital and then again since three. But hey, the point is, okay? When it comes down to this, there's it's only about positive energy and the same things that we all know. Turnovers. It's a game. Special teams, I mean, you can't sit here and predict point fingers at anything negative because that's not going to do any good regardless of any situation. So my feelings on this and my question, it doesn't matter if children returns or drives returns. A Bryce returns is going to be a little bit different, okay? In my eyes, and that's where my main prediction is, okay? So I would say that's my question to you. And we all know that's the same question that everyone's been asking. If he returns, I feel like Saban didn't show his cards. And he didn't on his last game. And I'm not saying what we did or didn't do. Because I bleed arms. So we are about to run out of time if you have a question. Okay, let me be real quick, okay? Well, you better because we've got about 30 seconds. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. So let me ask you this, okay? If life is color modes broken, do you think that they're going to win by 7? Or ten or what was your prediction between a quarterback? I want to know what you think. Well, I've been pretty pretty clear how I feel about whether Bryce young doesn't play what's going to happen. I think that's one of the easier deductions of the week to make. I think the bigger question is what a price young plays and is not perfect. So anyway, I don't know if that was your question or not, but that was my answer. We have an hour to go. And we hope you'll stick around. Thank you for listening to the Paul fine bomb show podcast, the Paul finebaum show airs weekdays on the SEC network beginning at three eastern.

"Considering some of the things that have transpired here over the past couple of years when they see you and I getting together. Is the sound okay? Yeah, no, and I'm curious about that, but we both have talked about the history, the recent history, not so recent, frankly, of this school. And it has been a comedy of eras, frankly, it's been a tragedy of errors. How would you describe how the difference today? We know we know there's a different coach. There's a different administration, is this going to stick? Because we believe this before and been bitterly disappointed. I feel like the angst that we felt that the past decade here at Tennessee has been channeled to optimism, Paul. This is a fan base that's longing for something to root for and cheer for and Josh heiple has delivered that to Tennessee. He's delivered a style of play that's appealing. He's delivered an identity that they've lacked through the past few coaches and he's delivered a game day atmosphere and moment. Rick Barnes just told me a little while ago in his 8 years here, you know, only Baker Mayfield and Oklahoma coming to town has matched the buzz around campus. So a fan base that has had plenty of reasons to be derisive and divisive is really percolating in teaming with optimism today with the Gators coming to town as ten and a half point underdogs. Pete, let's talk a little bit about the rest of college sports for a moment and there's a lot of things going on off the field since we have spoken to your last number one, what do you hear in relation to the CFP and when this 12 team playoff could get started? Well, Paul, I think we'll know something probably in the next month and there are still a lot of moving parts for the 24 25 piece of this, meaning the 12 team playoff would start before the end of the current contract. From 26 and beyond, there's

"And it's not like Rick Barnes has never had a fabulous freshman. Just hadn't had one at Tennessee. He coached Kevin Durant at Texas. And Julian Phillips, if you watched the interview on CBS board headquarters, he said, you know, Rick Barnes has a history of coaching great wings and like Kevin Durant is the most obvious example of that. And if you don't think Kevin Durant's steel, the Kevin Durant story still helps Rick Barnes when it comes to recruiting, you're crazy. That comes up all the time. I'm not saying it's a determining factor, but it's a thing that's brought up all the time. There is no getting around the fact that Rick has had a lot of good teams throughout his career, falls short in the NCAA tournament. You can go look it up. It's easy to identify. And that is something that is becoming even with Tennessee defense, part of his story. And I think even Rick would tell you, they need to be better in March. You know, he's had number one teams in top ten teams and top 20 teams, and SEC champions. But he's reached this place where Tennessee fans are like, some, not all. Are like, okay, this is great. This is great. But let's do it in the tournament. We're not doing enough in the tournament. You know, perhaps this will be the type of team that can break through for him, but if you, you know, if you're trying to identify where frustration comes from Tennessee fans, it's rooted in that. They're happy with the way recruiting is going. They seem happy with the way the regular seasons are going. But the postseason success hasn't quite matched the other stuff. Yet, and eventually, you know, that stuff's got to all mesh together, the stuff that happens in November, December, January, February needs to translate to what you're trying to accomplish in March. But undeniably, he has set himself up once again to have a team that's good enough to not only advance in the bracket, but compete for a final four. Adam finkelstein is obviously the director of scouting 24/7 sports. Listen, we know Julian Phillips, but we don't have to lie. We haven't scouted him 50 times. We haven't seen him as much as the recruiting analysts have. So I did want to share what Adam has written about Julian Phillips from an evaluation perspective. Here's what he wrote. While both credible evaluators agree that Julian Phillips is one of the top prospects in the class of 2022 within this range. It is appropriate that there is a fairly diverse set of opinions. It all depends on your criteria because it's potential still exceeds its production. However, that potential is vast. He has positional size skill athleticism and extreme fluidity. He shoots a softball and has all the physical tools necessary to be a competent defender, but he's not close to a finished product. There are still too many games that in without him making his mark in a manner consistent with his abilities. Again, that's from Adam finkelstein, director scouting 24/7 sports Travis branham also with 24/7 sports was on CBS sports headquarters after the announcement. And when Ginny Dale asked him for some player cops at the NBA level, he brought up Trey Murphy. He brought up Michael bridges. In other words, long sort of combo forwards who can comfortably shoot from the perimeter. To be clear, he wasn't predicting he's going to be Trey Murphy or Mikel bridges, just if you're looking for. If you're a Tennessee fan unfamiliar and you're looking for what could theoretically this guy look like, you know, what you're hoping for is a Trey Murphy type player or a Mikhail bridges top player. But it's another big recruiting day for the SEC. Which has had a lot of big recruiting days. Over the past year. Right now, the SEC, if you look at the recruiting rankings class of 2022, Arkansas's second Alabama's third Kentucky's 15th auburn 16th on misses 22nd, Vanderbilt's 23rd. Tennessee doesn't even have a great class. They just got this great prospect, but you know, it's another 5 star guy coming into the SEC. The only league right now that's got more top 25 recruiting classes in the class of 2022 than the SEC is trivia time. Guess it. Say it again. SEC right now has 6 top 25 recruiting classes in 2022. Only one league has more. What league? Oh, man. I can't believe it's a league that is more. I'm going the ACC by default and I don't like my answer. That's the right answer. It is the headline, of course, by duke at number one, but I mean, the SEC is, they are locked and loaded right now. They have got incredible coaches in that league. They're getting incredible players in that league. And when you got incredible coaches, an incredible players that's usually a great mixture to make sure you get incredible basketball teams that can not only compete for national championships, but with them. Last thing here, I was inspired to look up, I do the, I do that thing where coaches get hired, I wait four years, and then I grade the hires, you know, actually once they've submitted work and I can actually grade them one on what they've done. So I did it in 2019 for Barnes. My Rick Barnes hire in 2019 was an a minus. By the way, if you're watching on YouTube, you saw not a YouTube. Go ahead and nudge that like.

"Not a but. The thing about the coaching difference and the future for Arkansas versus the future for Tennessee under these two coaches, to me, it seems like if Tennessee keeps Rick Barnes, they'll get probably to the same kind of level year after year. But not much further. Well, David, they're going to keep him. They just gave him a raise yesterday and an extension. And here's where you get into a conundrum. Kentucky's going through this right now. What do you want in your program? Do you want a program that is a better showcase for your athletic department that sells a lot of tickets? It makes a lot of money. Or do you want to program that does all that and gets far in the tournament? And I think right now, cala Perry is stuck. I don't see that changing very much in the future. And Rick Barnes, excellent coach, superb. But by now, we've seen that we've seen the trend. He can't get out of his own shadow in March. And that's an issue. And it's an issue you have to accept. It's not going to change now. We've seen two of the best teams in Tennessee history, one gets stuck in the sweet 16, one that probably should have at least gone to the final four. And this team lost to a good, not a great team. Now, that Michigan team by no means was great. I don't even think they won 20 games. And but what do you do? You don't make a change because your coach or do you? In Tennessee's case, they've committed to Rick Barnes. They are essentially stuck with a very good coach who is going to have the same result every March. Let's continue with more phone calls and John is up next. John, go ahead. Hey, good afternoon. And I would say the Arkansas game win was the biggest step of the tourney and I would say the Kentucky loss was the biggest disappointment of the tourney. Yeah. I mean, we're splitting hairs there. Because in some ways, they're both right. But I was probably a little more surprised by Kentucky because it was against an unknown team that versus Gonzaga lost to a good team that most of us did not think would get past them. So they were both spectacular wins and saint Pete is still alive right now. So we'll follow them tonight. They're out of lucky charms. And by the way, congratulations to legend and Jim and Jay excuse me. Excuse me. And the brick tower just behind the curtain there. It's been very entertaining last several weeks. It's your house. Thank you, John. Appreciate it. Let's continue. Matt is up next. We're going to deal with the Pope on bomb. I want to talk to you about my podcast. Did you listen to me like a couple of days ago a new one? I don't mean to be rude here, but you need to tell me what you need to let me know a couple of things. Where do we find your podcast? And secondly, what the subject matter of individual podcasts, because if you're going to break down practice from yesterday, I could probably do without it. Okay, no, the fall chance is about football and basketball. Usually I mix up one day on top of football. There is a basketball court. Matt, I'll tell you what? Because I don't know how many people do you know how many people listen to your podcast every day? Honestly, no, I'm trying to spread out to all the different. Well, stop right there, Matt. Stop right there. Okay. Do you know how many people watch and listen to this show every day? And it's a very big number. You would agree with me on that, wouldn't you? Yeah, it was recently. Put you on the spot here, Matt. Instead of me going and looking for your podcast, I am going to give you one minute to give us the preamble of what your podcast is about this week. You kick my legs up and Matt, I'm going to do the introduction. Welcome to the mat from San Antonio podcast. And now here's the start of the show. Matt from San Antonio. My show, my podcast mainly about basketball. This week is going to be about basketball in the NIT, which I don't know what that is, but feel me in the end that and how far this team can go was buzz Williams, to prove a lot of the critics wrong that say he can't do it, but BuzzFeed and this means one of the great basketball courts we have so far name in history. And that's mainly my Paul casting me about this one coming up, Paul. Matt, you didn't use up all your time. Now in all this is going to be about how far can they go in the tournament. What it's about, I want you to tell me what you're going to say. Okay, well, this is what I want to say right now, Paul on the show. I'm breaking down once about bringing them when I said, how far a and M can go and what's the potential in IT? You are well on your way to a successful podcast. By the way, I've got a podcast too. You can listen to it right here. We are coming right back. You are listening to the Paul finebaum show podcast. And we mentioned the other bracket is down to the final two. I'm Ann and legend. We will close the polling in a couple hours. So.

Behind the Bets

"I don't know what Jay Wright water he has them drinking. They're in Pennsylvania. But they just, so I think, you know, in the final minute, I think Villanova pulls away on the free throw line. So I'll lay the points with Villanova. Yeah, that was the exact same handicapping that the bear gave yesterday on bet. He likes doing nova just because he thinks it'll be a close game and they'll pull away late with those free throws to get the cover. I'm on the other side though. I'm going to take the points in my pocket in the Michigan. They have been outside of Houston. Maybe even more so than used in the most impressive team in this tournament. You look at their win against Colorado state. They were favored by two points in that game, and they ended up winning by, I think, ten or 12, then you look at the game against Tennessee, which Tennessee was a lot of people's darling. There were 7 and a half point underdogs. They won that game by 8 points. So, you know, they have absolutely obliterated the closing line against each of these opponents. And both those opponents were good. I like Colorado state. They were a good team. They had a good resume. Tennessee. I know Rick Barnes and their coach, but man they looked awesome all throughout the SEC. Michigan, I did not know this. I didn't realize this, but we showed it on yesterday's daily wager. They had the fourth shortest odds in all of the nation preseason to win the NCAA tournament coming into the season. So I know they're an 11 seed, but prior to this year, if this matchup was supposed to happen in the tournament, I think it'd be closer to like a two point spread based on what the expectation for Michigan was. So maybe they are just one of those teams that is finding the rhythm. They're getting the omentum at just the right time. How often have we seen an 11 seed in recent years, kind of like play their way in and then just go on a run because they get hot, maybe Joanne Howard and that dust up with Wisconsin kind of galvanize this team, but I think 5 is just being a little disrespectful to how good Michigan was supposed to be coming into the season. How well they're playing right now in the momentum that they're carrying into this matchup. So listen, you don't make money betting against Jay Wright and Villanova and the NCAA tournament. So this could come back to backfire me, but right now my gut just tells me that Michigan is, it should probably be closer to three and a half, something like that to be true to where these teams are at right now. So I'll take the points with Michigan and because I think they can win the game outright if they keep playing the way they have. And I'll take a 5 point head start. Wow. So you and I are this rarely happens for us, Tyler. You and I are on the opposite side in Arkansas Gonzaga, Michigan, Villanova, Texas tech and duke, and will actually you're playing the under. You're not playing inside there. And I agree with you. And I do like tech. I do like tech in that game. So I'm sorry, boo,.

"And it nearly brought them back, but they just in critical moments in the game when they cut it to 5, they turned it over, they missed miss free throws. They were just very sloppy. Greg is up next. Greg go right ahead. Hey, mister Paul, just so you come and say on the Tennessee, just bypassed us, sir, you know, you were trying to Kentucky. I think we've got a final puncture chance there. I really do. We met well inside our side. Our first team of ACC guard, we got the big the tulu and them guys inside. I don't know, I sing like a lead. We're giving Tennessee it important to pull the play the game, brother. Well, you know, Greg, I was asking opinion and that's what I give. I'm not like some analysts that if you ask me, who do I like in the SEC? I give you 14 answers. It was an either or question. I'm just trying to answer your question. You can be a fan all you want. Rick Barnes is a better coach in Ben Howland. One's career is going up. The other one is descending. I think they have more players. I like them in the game, but you can go to Vegas right now and bet your house and your family's house if you'd like. I'd be more than happy to watch you. Well, I just think it's kind of funny here lately and I've watched everything. Anything comes up about me 6 days, you just go straight negative. I think we got to say it around here state fans. You don't want the chicken cross the road to get away from Paul buying bomb crediting how much you can't stay in Mike Lee. So you say what you want to, but you know, actually speak louder than worse, brother. Well, I'm sure they do. And I don't know what Mike wheat has to do with Ben hall and I've been friendly with Ben Holland. We knew what you heard the guest you had when we went on our national title championship baseball. We know all about the racial foreigners and stuff like that when everybody in the grandmother. Greg, I got news for you. Greg, other than being a paranoid fan, you're dead wrong about what you said. I didn't say anything about Mississippi I had a guest on who did, I think I questioned him on that. So if you want.

The Paul Finebaum Show

"When it comes to Tennessee basketball because yes, consistently under Rick Barnes, they've been one of the better teams in the SEC. But as you know, in men's basketball, you're so much judged by what happens in March and too many times that performance has not lived up to the expectations. And not only that, but now Rick Barnes is one of the highest paid coaches in college basketball and good for him. I mean, he parlayed that season in which they were ranked number one and interest from UCLA into a richer contract. And I don't think anybody can consult him for that. So what anybody would do, but with that, I think, comes the expectation for some higher production. So yeah, I mean, now is the time to see can he kind of get rid of that narrative because this team, if you look at it, it sort of peaking at the right time. So if you forget the history of Tennessee and the anti tournament under Barnes, I think there's no reason to think that Tennessee couldn't be poised for a pretty successful run. Blake, I know it's been a long time and the Bruce pearl story never stops, but Bruce pearl is knocking on the door of another big, big run, maybe. I went to the final four a couple of years ago. Had do Tennessee fans perceived Bruce Perl today. So many years later. I think it's split, which I think is also the case. If you flip sports and you look at football with lane kit and I think that's split and Knoxville. I think though with pearl, it might be a tad more favorable than it is toward tiffen because it's not like it's not like Bruce coral left Tennessee at the altar. That was the case of where he ran a foul of the rules and in Tennessee made the decision to move on. So I do think the feelings are a little bit different when comparing pearl to a kiffin, but I think in some ways it's similar in that you have a lot of folks that are Tennessee fans or folks that live in Knoxville that very much still have fond feelings about both those coaches and in particularly about Bruce Earl. Now you have others that might say, you know what? No ill will toward Bruce pearl, but certainly very glad that Rick Barnes is the coach here today. And I think you have also a segment of the fan base that says Rick Barnes is fine, but I would love to have Bruce pearl back who cares about any past cheating that went on. You know, I mean, when you look at things through today's lens, if you want to get down to it, I mean, inviting a recruit to a barbecue, that's pretty mild stuff. When it comes to this day and age, right? Now I know there was more to it than that. But that was obviously the most publicized element of that deal. So yes, I would say it's sort of runs the gamut, but I think certainly there is a decent section of the fan base Tennessee fans that at least have. Fair to even positive feelings toward Bruce turtle. And on that subject there, Blake, and I know schools put on a good front in terms of the NCAA, just like the statement we read today from LA Shu, but deep down, does anyone really care about the NCAA rules any longer other than having to act like they do? I think having to act like they do, yeah, that's the key. Administrators and coaches and whatever, maybe make a little song and dance. And put forward a half hearted effort. But no, I mean, I think if you see all the movement by the university's in the past several years, like they don't want anything to do with any sort of punishment for any wrongdoing, if it involves a coach that the university doesn't want in the first place, then yeah, they'll use an incident investigation to try to try to run somebody out, maybe fire them for cause. And then they'll pin all the blame for the malfeasance on that pass coach and say, hey, don't punish punish the athletes here today. No postseason bands, no punishment on the current roster. We fired the bad actors. Or if it involves a coach whom you don't want to fire, you just say there's nothing to see here. If you think if you think something bad happened here, go good luck proving it. And they stand by their coach. So really, the schools try to use it to whatever advantage they can. They either stand behind their man if that today wants. If not, then they throw their coach overboard. At the hands of the NCA investigation. But I don't think any of it really is motivated by integrity of the spores. Yes, I think if everybody could have their way, it's like just go away with these NCA investigations, just kind of crawl off into a hole and let's forget about this. I mean, that seems to be the way it's going, right? If you look at the constitution changes and what ADs are advocating for, it's not really harsher punishment, particularly as it involves postseason bans. I mean, administrators hate that stuff. If anything, it's like punish a few bad actors and forget about the rest of it. Well, it's always great to have you on. Thank you very much. Boycott and I are joining us from the USA Today. We are officially out of time for this program. We appreciate all of you for being a part of it. Some really interesting guests today will see you right here tomorrow..

"Was coach Smith. Coach Smith was the evil empire. Even a coach K at the beginning. You know, everyone looked at coach Smith in North Carolina and it was a that's North Carolina, whether it's they get all the calls or it's just different. And everyone, that North Carolina game was the biggest game understood. And coach Smith was the guy that you know when I was over Virginia. Coach Smith was the guy that everyone wanted to beat and it was just different and there was always whether it was Rick Barnes having a confrontation because you knew you could compete with them and for a modern that you in your program could compete against a standard. And then all of a sudden, coach KK, and he became coach Smith in a lot of ways. And duke became the standard along with coach Williams who came in, obviously in the middle of that. But both of those teams define the ACC, both of those teams define college basketball. Both of those coaches are those coaches, especially coach K, he was different. What he did, how he did it, the success they had and everyone else was competing to try to get a little peace. There's only two more times this year is coming to an end. I mean, I think you told me the other day that how many more home games are they have? I think it's three now. Three more home games. And then what do you think Caroline will always be duper Caroline? What do you think no Roy Williams, no coach K? Who's going to take that mantle? Who's going to be the standard bearer for the league? Or should we say, you know what? It's going to emerge or it's going to be due to North Carolina, or you know what some people worry about it because let's enjoy this next 6 week journey. Well, I mean, to your point on the latter, we can do both. I mean, we can talk about what's next and conjecture about it and think about it. And still enjoy what we're seeing now. And sort of savor the duke Carolina rivalry with coach K and Hubert Davis now. Look, in every sport, whether it's football, basketball, baseball, you name it. We've had irreplaceable icons that have left the game. We just had it with Tom Brady. Tom Brady just left the NFL and retired. Peyton Manning left the NFL and retired. And that's a void, but it's going to be filled. It may not be filled by somebody as good as Tom Brady in the long run. But.

I'd like for Jimbo to leave, I think I'd like to get a crack at some of the 5 star wall Nolan. Mike, I'll tell you something else. I had the opportunity to visit with the Chancellor. She came by an event that I was. And is that donda ploughman? Yeah, I never met her before. I knew of her. I told her I was speaking to the school newspaper group, and she came in to surprise me. And I said, I'll say this publicly, what I said to those young journalists, I said, this is a Chancellor here that you should be proud of because she did something that takes a lot of guts. She showed integrity in saying what she did about Jeremy Pruitt. I know there has been disagreement, of course. But I think Tennessee is charting a new course with her and with Josh hypo. And I'm not saying that guarantees anything because I still think there's some dark roads ahead because of the NCAA mess, but my hope is that the NCAA is so incompetent and so inept that it will drag on long enough for Tennessee to build itself back and maybe find some ammunition to get to get appreciated for having done the right thing as opposed to be squirrelly like most schools. Yeah, now the NCAA has kind of been neutered by now as we all know and they're losing a lot of power and agency by the day. So you have a plowman in the AD. They've invested in the baseball coach at Tennessee. They're giving him the money, Rick Barnes is crushing it at Josh highball is built our brand up. I mean, we were the laughing stock relaying for Jeremy Peru at for the mustard thing. And I told you a couple weeks ago I said look, if we go into Kentucky healthy and when that game, a lot of that stuff is going to be forgetting, we should go 7 and 5 in a decent bowl game. So it's a win win. Mike, I think it will be, thanks for the call. I think it would be better than just a run of the mill bowl game for this reason. That Tennessee fans are so hungry that if you put Tennessee in the same boat with Florida, assuming they get to a ball game. Auburn, I think Tennessee will be more attractive because they will they will take they will take a lot more fans. They'll be energetic. Appreciate, appreciate the call very, very much. He had a disastrous. Run there but it was what happened. In two thousand thirteen at lsu that ultimately got him fired. Reuss feldman has covered less miles for a very long time in bruce. Thanks so much for the time shafran we want to talk to you about including your pizza just hit about the the nfl mock draft. But let's start with less miles not a surprise. But what do you think Finally pushed kansas over the edge and And did away with less after what has been coming out for days if not weeks from baton rouge untenable this the idea. Kansas jeff long's the ad there obviously sec. Fans will remember from his time at arkansas. It's just been an abysmal run. And the fact that has searched process get less miles there in the first place was kind of a jolt in kind of a head scratcher but now after what had come out from Over the weekend. And friday from the lsu part of this. I don't know how in twenty twenty one kansas could say. Oh yeah we're okay with that just even if you look at the wording on how jeff long explained the move last night it was just like we got to win more games. It was like wait a minute. There were some really Disgraceful actions that are alleged against less miles from his time at lsu. And i don't know how they could look the other way with a straight face and say okay this a guy who the lsu administration had clearly put some you know unique situations around him and stipulations in dealing with people and some of those allegations are so troubling and so disturbing. I really think they had no choice but to move on. And the wording parted ways whatever they just had to make a change and get him out of there. And i'm suspect at some point in the nazi just future an after avenue. Ad as well. Yeah that was. Obviously a lot of people are going now and you know jeff. Long didn't exactly distinguish himself at arkansas. Were shown the door there and surprisingly or maybe not. Surprisingly the program has been on fire under hunter year. Check but i mean how can you. How can you possibly keep jeff long on the job after mean and football's only part of the problem. The basketball program has been under fire for years. Exactly i mean there's issues with the ncaa and the basketball program ac- basketball is a bigger deal there than football. But i think in this. It's so many issues. That are layered together. And i think it's the tone-deaf aspect Jeff lungs long relationship with last miles The allegations in the things in those investigations about less. They are really disturbing. Act act especially as they relate to student workers there. I think it's really troubling and the fact that k. You in jeff. Along the way it was explained. Even if you look back i think over the weekend. Less miles attorney gave us gave a statement that i think makes may kansas look quite honestly even worse that they kind of knew about it and that they were okay with it was almost like well because other people were alarmed by now that it was that it was something that was like shouldn't have happened just because of the perception on it i just think it all of it is made that tenure. Look so sketchy. And i just don't know how your kansas how you don't kind of rip the band aid off at this point and say hey we gotta make a different a different move here. I just think right now you look at it yes the. Ncaa extended the dead period much longer. So they don't really have to rush in through this coaching search process. But who's going to be making the new head football coach higher in this. I mean this is a lot of stuff for the kansas administration to sort out as they move on not just from last miles but i think as they move in a different direction for. Who's in charge of the parliament.

College Basketballs Uncertain Return to the Court
"Myron medcalf has been covering college basketball for espn for nearly a decade. So my excitement. I should admit comes from a place of utter ignorance because after eight months of this pandemic after a cancellation of march madness. I have literally no idea myron what to expect from college basketball. At all this season in terms of the virus in terms of what's happening on the floor. All i really know right now. Is that both duke. And arizona announced yesterday that they are postponing their opening games. Because of covid and tennessee's rick. Barnes got diagnosed with corona virus. So let's just begin with tip off tomorrow. What's this all going to look like. Why i think that's the million dollar question college basketball a lot like college football. Most of the games are scheduled to be played obviously cove. It was a challenge for college football. I think for college basketball. That'd be magnified by about ten because you have more than three hundred team that are going to try to kick this season off. So i think everybody's just crossing their fingers and hoping for the best and not knowing what the head is on the theme of the three hundred teams. All kind of spinning. This roulette wheel is a lot to process. What are the protocols. Like the health protocols teams employers going to try to abide by this season. I think that's another important question and it's difficult to answer in that. There are so many different protocols by state by county depending on what's conference iran. I mean you're talking to thirty two different conferences. I'll give you an example. The american athletic conference. They're going to test three days per week during the season can't do a consecutive days. That's what ended up like guidelines. Recommend however at temple abide by the city of philadelphia's protocols which say they have to test seven days before competition every single day so you have even within conferences different rules and regulations. I've talked to athletic directors and california who are telling me that they still have to submit plans to their local authorities to get approval to compete this season. Forget host the team. Forget any of the other details just to be able to get back on the floor so you got see a lot of chaos unfold in the coming months so you are very clearly a healthcare reporter on top of being a college basketball reporter so myron explained to me what is happening in these. Pseudo bubbles where regular season games are gonna take place. One of them is an eleven day. Event starts tomorrow called bubble ville. Which has real dr seuss fives from what i can tell. What exactly is bubble ville. Well we're gonna find out but it's basically a bunch of teams all in one side of the megan sun in connecticut. Where the idea is you have everybody. At one location. There will be testing measures. Extreme testing measures with the goal being the kind of emulate. What you saw with the nba bobble on a on a somewhat smaller scale. They don't have the two hundred million dollars that the nba spent. Two resources are different. But i think their attempt is to mimic that. And when you're there there will be security in these hotels making sure that people are following protocols and then there will be specific places that you can and can't go. The challenge is going to be. Can you do that for dozens and dozens of teams and make sure that everybody's following the rules we saw the nba and the resources they put into that. It's a different different level. I think with college basketball in an attempt to pull this off for the next couple of weeks there are certainly some challenges attached to that. And there's already issues at bubble ville right. I mean the news baylor and some other schools have already pulled out of this tournament. Florida kobe issues. They pull out Baylor scott drew head coach. Their test positive announces that yesterday they pull out and then arizona state which was scheduled to play. Baylor in bubble veal. Says you know what we're not comfortable so you already have teams that have been moving things around an idea that i think we'll see throughout the season. How can you play college basketball with three hundred plus teams unless there is some sort of pseudo bubble environment

Cronin leaves Cincinnati to take UCLA job
"Hey, hey, Jason before we Chadha here. Couple of college notes are of note one. I hope the warriors bring back Chris Mullin in some capacity. He's going to step down as head coach at Saint John's. It sounds like the, you know, spent thirty years at Duke and watts Bobby Hurley to leave ASU to to. And then the one that came down. Just now Mick Cronin is the new head coach UCLA which me Cronin. Leave Cincinnati to take the Bruins job. Rick Barnes opted to stay at Tennessee. Instead of instead of or go to Tennessee instead of instead of take the UCLA job. What do you think? What do you think of those three college Garrett sells weird like if you guys remember Oregon like about eight or nine years ago had an opening head coach and bass warned everybody Tom Izzo. They made every play every coach they approach basically got a race and they settled on like their seven choice. Dana Altman, we'll guess what? Six or seven years later day gets to the final four. So I know Mick Cronin in number one target probably four or five or six, but think about a guide when you making a move on your girlfriend wife at the time before she became your wife option. I don't know that I was, you know, sometimes you got a, you know, just be happy that you get picked down the list for you. Jay were you were you an undrafted free agent. Were you a seventh round pick? I hope I wasn't. I never asked my wife that, but I have joked around with guys who whose wife is hotter than them as my wife is more tractive than me. And I'm like, you're not your life. I choice, but to the overachievers club, Gary the overachievers club going my old lady. Did you did you romance with money? Did you do give Bela's? What what do you think? You you got to wonder over the podcast. I was working at a newspaper in New Jersey living in a studio apartment twenty five thousand dollars. Here. We didn't meeting her a month later. I said boy, I gotta get an upgrade here, and I left it pathetic newspaper industry and just made my rise to where I am now in. Yeah.
