"On this day and night… You can rent the big pink house that the band played in, but you can't go in the basement where they made the music with Dylan. Yeah, exactly. Yeah, you can't go in the basement. It's an Airbnb. We're going to get it and we're going to break into that. I would definitely break in. On this day in 1968, George Harrison released his first solo album, Wonderwall Music, on the Apple label. The songs, which were mostly Harrison instrumentals, featured Eric Clapton, Ringo Starr. He just couldn't shake those guys. Right? He was always with these guys, right? I mean, Ringo played a lot. Yeah, he had his own thing, but Eric Clapton, Ringo, that little crew all kind of hung out together, right? Eric Clapton. He clapped to Ringo. Who else was it? Who was it that Eric Clapton… Yeah, doesn't matter. Jim Corden. On this day in 1966, The Doors played the first night of a month-long residency at the Odine Discotheque Midtown Manhattan in New York City. A discotheque. Yeah, discotheque. On this day in 1963, The Beatles kicked off a UK tour performing two shows at the Odine Cinema in Shelton, Gloucestershire. Their repertoire for the tour was, I Saw Her Standing There, From Me to You, All My Loving, You Really Gotta Hold on Me, Roll Over Beethoven, Boys, Till There Was You, She Loves You, Money, which I liked the incredible Fleeping Lizards version, Twist and Shout. Supporting The Beatles were The Rhythm and Blues Quartet, The Vernon's Girls, Frank Berry, The Brook Brothers, Peter Jay and the Jaywalkers, and The Kestrels. Who? I don't know. On this day in 1956, Elvis Presley bought a new Harley-Davidson motorbike and spent the day riding around Memphis on his new bike with actress Natalie Wood. Okay. Alright, Elvis. He got that wood that night, too. She was something else. Yeah, she was. The only wood that can't float. On this day in 1955, R &B group The Famous Flames, led by singer James Brown, cut their first demo of Please, Please, Please at a radio station in Macon, Georgia. It would lead to their singing with King Records. Born on this day. Let's see. Let's move down this fast so far. Rick Allen, the one-armed drummer from Def Leppard. Yeah. Anthony Kinis, Red Hot Chili. You can't tell the difference in this play. You know what? He played like he had one arm to begin with. Set him up. Fucking guy. If he had lost his arm, they would have fucking dumped him about two years later. You never know. He would have been like any other. You got to go. You're not keeping up. But he went out, loses his arm, and they're like, damn. We got to keep this motherfucker? How would that look? We kicked the one-armed drummer out of our band. Yeah, you got to get good PR. You've seen that meme, if you air drum to Def Leppard with two arms, you're an asshole. That's the second time Mark almost spit it up. He still got some Chardonnay coming out of his nose. On this day in 1962, Anthony Kinis was born. Sixty-two? Looking down the street, looking at my feet, going to go to me because I get some red meat. I'm going to do some mid-level rap, and I'm not going to be good. No talent. Fucking only because they had a cool name, and they kind of jumped around, and he danced like a fucking white guy. Yes. You know who I hate, too? You know who I hate? I used to like him? Beck. He started off with the fake white boy can't dance moves. Then he did it as an adult. He started trying to keep that whole I haven't learned to dance yet type thing. Yeah, Beck can eat shit, too. When you're a one-trick pony, you have to stick with what you do. Yeah, and he's protected by those lunatics in L.A., the Scientologists. Also, he murdered somebody, and they covered it up for him. Are you serious? There's something, you can find it somewhere on the internet, that he did something, that somebody died in his house or something, and they covered it all up for him.

"So anyway, January 11th, 1985, one of the biggest music festivals in the world begins in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, The Rock in Rio. I think I just got dissed by Scott big time. That was fun. What's that? Oh, doing that? At the dump, you like it? The nylon. Rock in Rio. Great festival. Yeah. Yeah. Had a public of 1.5 million people. Oh, God. That's too many. That's way too many people. The content included Iron Maiden, Nina Hagen, the B-52s, the Go-Gos, Queen, Rod Stewart, James Taylor, AC, DC, and evidently many more. Not to mention Nina Hagen. What the hell? Right? I know the name. I think, wasn't she like at SNL sometimes, she was like, was she like a punk? I think so, yeah. I think of Patti Smith in that early. Yeah. Okay. Wow. That's pretty cool for her to get there. Yeah. Yeah. Also on January 11th, 1985, Willie Dixon sues Led Zeppelin over the song, Whole Lotta Love. Whole Lotta Love. He won, didn't he? Yeah. Yeah. Our lawsuit was settled out of court. And if you buy the album now- Which means he won. He won. And if you buy the album now, it says Page Plant and W. Dixon. Oh, he's getting paid or his estate. His estate. Yeah. Wonder if they gave him back money too for that. You know? I like George Harrison when he got sued for He's So Fine. Oh, man. How bad. That was the most blatant ripoff ever. Yeah. The embarrassed Beatle. You know, he didn't. I don't think he meant it. I don't think he meant it. We had this discussion. We did. That's too coincidental to not mean that. I don't know. Why would George? Why would George? He wrote something. He didn't care. He's like, I got the money. I like the lyrics. I like the song. I don't care. Just release it. That's so cynical. I do not think George Harrison, like everyone thinks he's such an angel. No, no. He wasn't. He wasn't. I can't think that he was. But listen, sometimes your ego gets the best of you and you're like, fucking just release it. I don't care. I got the money if they sue me. But he ended up buying the rights to the song after that. So if he was going to get sued for it, he's going to make money on it. He did. He did it with every breath you take. That's right. That's right. Yeah. Like sometimes they're like, I don't know. It's just, it's just a good song. And I got enough money. What are they going to get from me? That video you sent us today, James Brown's drummer sampled into oblivion and hasn't seen a dime or a penny. That's that. I had sent you that a while back. That drum beat. It's the most sampled drum beat in music history. And it's an amazing drum beat. Let me see. Joe Scholl just messaged in and said, good evening, gents. I was watching some Def Leppard videos today. Still amazed at Rick Allen. Awesome. Give him credit. You got to give him credit. Yeah, absolutely. When it was worse is that when his arm was severed, they attached it and they had to take it off again. Cause it didn't take no hope, no hope, but overcame though. Yeah. I can tell you, he'll never go to the hard rock hotel and casino in Hollywood, Florida anymore, or at least go outside for a cigarette. Do you guys know how we re re uh, reproduce the snare drum, what his way of doing it? He did it with his left foot that would normally be on the high head pedal. He, you know, he's just the two and the four was with his foot, which makes a lot of sense because you do that a lot anyway. Um, so yeah, pretty, pretty clever. Got us. Yeah, man. Yeah. Could you tell a difference in the drumming? I couldn't. Yes.

I took the honey and tea? That works. Alan, what, you know, he's got to do another honey show, I think so. And of course, Sean, Sean has been with me as you heard for over 15 years now, and all of them make the show possible, but a special shot. I forgot to thank Sean last time. He's been sulking for weeks, if not months, and Rick agrees that he's been sulking. I want to thank the caller. He didn't get on. He said, he likes that. I let callers talk. You should know, I was a talk show host listener before I was a host, and a bother me when hosts wouldn't let people talk. And so that's one of the things I pride myself on, so I appreciate that very much. And speaking of that, keep in touch with me, Mark eisler at AOL dot com to know when my future podcasts get off the ground. But look, the battle today, we got to get this right. We got to get this right with its trumpet desantis. We've got to win next time. There's no doubt if given another chance, unlike what Reagan said in some ways, I think we got one more chance to solve this. They can not win again. So however we work this out, and I'll do the same thing. We got to make sure that we win the presidency next time. And all the people on our side, you can't do enough to help save America. Think about all the people who died and got injured to save this country. That's why I said what I did going in on the teacher's strike, courage, that didn't take much courage, but we all have to do our part to show what we believe in. If we don't express our values and our point of view, the other side wins, remember, the number one thing I hear from my students is that they never heard our side. When we hear our side, it doesn't matter whether it's from Dennis or anybody on our side, they get converted because they've never heard this before, which is why prayer used so important. So do what you can, do it in your own way. Take your kids out of public school. Vote for those people that you care about. Vote for school choice. They get the state legislatures where you live to make sure the voting laws changed. So it's harder for them to cheat. I don't want to go to my last resort. I don't want to break apart. That's not what Lincoln works so hard for to keep this country together. He was amazing. A house divided can not stand. So we got to make it so that the people, I think we have the majority. I think our views are winners. So don't give up hope. I wanted to finish this on a positive note. Ronald Reagan talked about the city on the hill. I was being half facetious. There are still, I think more Republicans in California than in many states. It's still possible to make a difference. Don't give up the fight. There are so many calls I couldn't get to, so I want to thank you for calling. I always finish my show the same way. It's a privilege to have a microphone in the still, the greatest country in the history of the world..

I would have paid serious cash to see that. Just because I'm such a weird thing, it was like, why the fuck? Would you ever think of doing that? And you know, as a drummer, he's probably one of the few ever who is popular enough they can, you know, where they can have their own thing. Because I think most of the time drummers just aren't, you know, they're just, they're just not super popular in the band. You just don't, you know, unless you're, there's any handful of drummers where you can even know the name. Yeah, I mean, I remember you guys were talking about rev from avenge sevenfold. Yeah, Metallica seems to be really hit and miss. Yeah, yeah. And a lot of their mixing was weird. So the reason why I brought it up is you were talking about drumming and sometimes if the drums are mixed with their symbols hurt my ears. You and I were talking earlier, we saw a Daytona 500 that we've come to see. We saw a lot of guys going for broke. We saw a lot of crashes, not a lot of concern about if you were bringing anything more at home in the steering wheel. I know you love watching the Daytona 500 Stevie because it is this three, three and a half hour chess match where everything matters, every move matters, every strategy matters. And I know you love turning points. So take us through what led up to Ricky Stenhouse junior winning this race, the turning points, the caution flags, the pit sequences that you saw that made this race so critical. So I'm going to get my notes out because if not, I'm going to get the lap count wrong, but I think really the key for me is and you mentioned it. So the Daytona 500 is really a chess match and when no one wins the race of their just slowly eliminated. And they can be eliminated by mistakes. They could be eliminated by just misfortune. There's a lot of different ways you can lose this race. And in my mind, the race was there. And the first green flag pit cycle proved to me that we were watching the type of race I love. And what I mean by that is, if you look at the field pre cycle and post cycle, it's very jumbled up. And I am not a believer that's too bad. No, not too bad. Everyone did the same thing. Everyone pitted? Service their car went back on the race track. And that's to go back to the duels while the first race probably wasn't as racy as someone. I thought that was an excellent duel. I was thoroughly entertained by the strategic play of when to pit, not the pit. My gripe was more with, I wish we should have let the drivers do what they do. The second duel was kind of that way. Maybe they learned from the first. Fast forward to Sunday to your original question. You know, when I look down at my notes right here, right? We saw a lot going on that first pitch cycle in the lap 30 ish, whatever it was, 35 to 40 range, it instantly showed you that how you get on pit road with how many cars, how much fuel you put. I think we are totally underestimating that the fuel load is a huge part of this entire race now. It's very Indy 500 esque. You could put tires on faster than you can fill, you put two tires on, you wait on fuel and it's like, I see a lot of nervous crew chief trying to get to the end of stage one, and I'm like, oh, this is an interesting fact because they pitted. So you think they should be good, but they don't want to spend a lot of time there. In my mind, the first big change was all week long, I was beating the drum of Denny Hamlin Ryan Blaney chase sell it. The numbers said they should have been there. The buzz in the garage said they were going to be there. And then in the blink of an eye, poof, two of them are eliminated basically in the same rack Ryan and Blaney and chase Elliott with damage right away. And that was the first one that I think changed the complexion of the race for me. That was what, around lab one 18, right? So it starts with the four getting into Tyler Redick. You know, it's pushing. There was no harm, no foul, but definitely a wreck was caused. And it kind of just started stacking up cars and started to take it out a few of the players, and that's what changed it. And then we continued on and continued on. But what I really think is exciting as the last, say, 20 laps of that race. Different groups kept cycling themselves to the front. RFK was in control. And then on the racetrack, great move by RCR with the 47s help to then take control of the race. And then do it in a manner where they kind of had it in tow. I don't know what we were going to get for the final 5 miles if it would have gone green, but it was going to be very interesting to see if Austin Dillon loves his new teammate or Boston Dylan wanted to win a Daytona 500 and where would Joey Logano and what Ricky Stenhouse do like the layers were growing. And that we had to spin with Suarez, which set up the and I won't lie. I think I would have enjoyed the race running green to the end more than I know those restarts are exciting, but they kind of turn into a chess match, but some guys wearing a boxing glove. And I think if it would have ran green, that anticipation builds in my stomach. As I'm watching this race, I'm like, well, there's 5 to go. There's four to go. It's kind of like you're like watching the weather channel on the coast of Florida and they tell you this hurricanes come in and every day they update the potential path. And that's what I was watching, right? This hurricane of action is coming. And where is it going to land? Is it going to be the white flag into one, two to go? Who's going to do it? And we got robbed a little bit of that because of the caution. And then we have to choose rule and then the RCR guys decide to play the old game of letting the guy in on top. I'm not saying that was a bad decision, but can I say Rick Allen and I were texting on a group text and I'm thankful they play this game. We don't go the 8 pulls down. And the top drives right around him. And I was kind of like, hey, the choose rule is here this year. A plus choice by NASCAR bringing it. I thought it affected a lot of what the outcome was. That was it. I mean, that was the loss of control for RCR, right? They had control and in my opinion, it was executed well by the drivers. I think whoever in leadership thought that that was the better strategy to always easier after it happens. Obviously it wasn't. Because the top line, they didn't do anything special. So much so, let's go back to the last restart of the race. So much Ricky Stenhouse started up top and just said, my man Joey Logano is the best pusher in NASCAR. I'm just going to let him hook to my bumper and off we go, and there we did it. And that was all fine, but then you always come. I'll say this, I'll say it again, the final 5 miles of the Daytona 500 is amazing. Every year, there's a new move that made you and I have dissected the Denny Hamlin, no block on the backstretch to come back to win on the front stretch. We have dissected the Truex Junior Matt Kenseth finish. Kenza goes for the big block, the drag race to the line. That was maybe 16, 16. Closest finish ever. Yeah, so there's all these things. Well, Ricky Stenhouse junior, I encourage the fan go back and watch this. He takes the lead on the restart with a big shove from Joey Logano, they're coming around for the white. And Clint Boyer says it. Now that energy's

What are we doing? So valid point, I get it. Use the F one 50. Not the lightning version, the ice version. But anyway, let's kind of get into some things that I brought to the table today. First of all, we have Keith and I like to talk music. We talk music from time and time, and there was a recent album that came out, but I'm a big fan of these guys. I always have been, I've been following since day one, Def Leppard, they've been around for about 45 years now. First time I saw him was in 1978, and that was on the high and dry tour. I believe it was. Yeah, that was 78 or 79. If I'm not mistaken. Actually, I think that was much first. Okay. First one? And then he completely completely changed gears with pyromania that came out in 1983, I believe it was 82 or 83. I think it was 83. I saw him on that high and dry tour. They were touring with AC/DC. And then I saw him, they were headlining on the pyromania tour. And then, of course, in 80 1984, it was New Year's Eve 84, the 85, the drummer was unfortunately back home in England and was driving his Corvette and he lost his arm. And so they had to take a bit of a hiatus, then I saw them again and this is the last time I saw him was in 1986 at the monsters of rock festival in donnington park in England. They were not a headliner. Ozzy Osbourne was the headliner and the scorpions were on that Bill as were motorhead, warlock, a couple of others, I forget who they were, but Def Leppard was there, and they were awesome. It was the first time Rick Allen played the drums since losing his arm. And they played a few tracks off of their new upcoming album called hysteria that came out a year later, which was a pretty amazing album as well, sales wise for them. I know a lot of people lost interest in Def Leppard because of their.

"Problem. So what are you going on with the irs. Well i. It's sort of a a chronic condition You know he'll shake his head and had sort of an odor And i he he gets about. Maybe every six months and what. I have some Zein locks is that what it's called It's a teardrop that i put in From the vets and and You know it clears it up right away. But i was wondering if there was anything that i could do that would kinda Prevent it from coming back. Oh absolutely and you know. I'd say the two first things that i would say. Is that the most common problems with ear infections or that. We just don't quite do everything we can to handle those. So the first thing that i would say is that we always wanted to make sure we treat aggressively. So sometimes that might mean more than just a topical. And it's hard to new when your doggies particular situation but I'm a real fan of taking a sample of the gu in the ears looking in the microscope. And seeing what we got because a lot of times we can have a double power if you will if we hit with a world medication as well as putting drops in the ears. Because if there's a lot of swelling garbage in those years you know drops can only sometimes take us so far so that would be. My first suggestion is really treat this aggressively out. If we need an antifungal or early antibiotic sometimes steroids. Were just talking about that. But sometimes that can be helpful Especially if there's allergies that are playing a role and then the other thing i'd say is the number. Two problem we have with ear infections is that we don't treat long enough so i would encourage win. You're treating with your medicine and make sure you follow up with your veterinarian. Have them stick that cone down that year and give you the green light. The thumbs up that you're done and over and you've treated effectively to the end of that infection because what we see on the outside is only just a third of what's really going on deep that ear canal so as owners. We kind of look and say looks good. We treated it but he could still be brewing down there and that can go on weeks or even months so those would be my first two bits of advice for you there but beyond that As far as seen on top of ear infection you can do a lot so see you did all that. At the end of the year infection the vet says you're good to go What can you do from there. And a couple of things one would be definitely like to use an ear wash product on a regular basis and that basically is what it sounds like. You're squeeze it in the ears. It fills the ear canal massage and let him shake it. Shake xeres afterwards and you clean and we use a wash because dog's ears a really deep compared to ours and it's hard to treat that inner ear canal that way so that would be one thing and the other thing is cocker. Spaniels ear infections can be related to allergies so getting on a hypoallergenic. Diet might be one other way. We can get ahead of a tendency towards ear infections and there's a lot of different ways we can do that but those would be some suggestions that i'd have forget their wreck. Okay i i've never i didn't know about the ear. Wash that was that's a good one and Yeah he he really is only had a couple of times but there. It's just been within the last year and and maybe that have been clear up completely but it was about a six month interval between when i know this to be cleared up pretty good. You know we'll get yourself armed with some regular cleaning agents and stay away from powders. If you talk to groomer groomers wanted to sell your powder put in the ear. I hate them because all they do is take that year with debris so your veterinary about a good just cleaning wash when that'll be a ph balanced canal and see if that gives you some there. Sorry to say that I did get in, I really am looking forward to that. But you know what? Are just the fact that I was even nominated to get to that level. So that stage of of the voting was really heartfelt. I felt, you know, my career was good but it's always nice to know if that path that leads to the Hall of Fame doors. This year, I wasn't able to get in, but there's always next year, that's what I tell kids about basketball. There's always another game and there's always another season to be played and with the Hall of Fame again. Not bashing on any other ones because I think anybody that gets in there as well. Bill Russell, as a coach who is already a great player for the Chicago Bulls. Paul pierced Nelly, press pause, Chris Bosh, are your thoughts on it. So let me ask you first. How do you, how did you find out that you didn't get in? Cuz obviously, everybody knows, you get the call. If you get it, you get a call, either way, how does that got a call? Either way, I got my car Wednesday, they were calling us everybody from 12 between 12, and, and, and to East Coast time. And I get the call that goes, hey, Michael Cooper, you don't, unfortunately, you didn't get enough votes to be considered in the Hall of Fame. Sorry to tell you that, but there's always wage. Clear. I mean that that's part of it. But the coaching you know, winning championships at the NBA as a player as a coach for the WNBA with the Sparks and then of course and the the D-League, you know, I mean that's that's a decorated career. Both influencing the game as a player and as a coach and the other thing I'll say to is, you know, a player of a player like you to, to me off cover Tim Duncan in the Spurs. And Tim was this great player of selflessness and and and, you know, deferring his ego for the veteran of the team..

Transition Virginia
"rick allen" Discussed on Transition Virginia
"And we're back on transition. Virginia we're talking about the right to organize which received very few republican votes in the house of representative. I think there were like five votes in favor of this now. What are the complaints. Your hard from republicans was that money would be given to liberal groups. Here's congressman rick. Allen of georgia from three thousand canned two thousand eighteen union spent more than one point six billion dollars in member dues to hundreds of left wing groups like planned parenthood the clinton foundation and the progressive democrats of america instead of spending that money on worker representation. That's right union. Leaders are lining their pockets in their friends. Pockets with the dues. Workers were forced pay. No we heard this criticism so many times from republicans during the debate that i think planned parenthood clinton foundation and the progressive democrats of america. Probably got some kind of royalty for being mentioned so many times on the house floor will money from workers really be going to these groups. Well first of all they have the right to give the money to whoever they want to. But the Employees do not want to participate in whatever The union is doing. They don't they don't have to. they can elect to do a fair share and only pay for those services. The unionists compelled to provide. That means they don't have they don't wanna make. Contributions is a local hospital for healthcare to the food. Bank to certainly. They don't have to make lyrical contributions or holiday party. Only for those services like negotiating higher wages better benefits and safer working conditions or representation on grievance procedures that the union is obligated to provide. That's all they have to contribute to and they didn't know when they're talking about contributing to progressive groups they didn't say anything about corporate contributions to right wing groups. There are a lot of people who don't like that is money that could ordinary otherwise use dividends it diverted into contributions that many stockholders don't think much of and in addition to that you know the workers have no way of no one either about like the money and stuff that corporations give lawyers for union busting and all of that. So there you got. Privacy concerns are another criticism. We're hearing from republicans. Here's congressman gregory murphy of north carolina. This legislation would require employers to hand over workers. Private personal information. To union organizers home addresses cell phone numbers email addresses without their employees consents. These are private violations not to be tolerated in this country. So does this. Bill allow for privacy violations. You're listening to the outrage. That he was expressing your thank you. They're handing over healthcare information not know. It provides an opportunity for the union to contact the people who would potentially be in the union so they can be contacted. The employer has all this information and it just provides the union opportunity to communicate with people always been that the the union was entitled to home addresses this just updates to the other ways that people now communicate with each other not just mail by by email and cell phone tax. That was the loss for several years just very recently and there were no complaints about privacy violations. This is just a part of the union management balance than some people want to balance it all in favor of management so that management has all the information and can communicate with people who are considering joining the union. But they don't want the union to be able to communicate but when when it was in effect there were no compliance. Just want to add to that. Join an organizing campaign. The employer of course has access to workers you know for eight hours or twelve hours a day however many that they're working and they make work for team to captive audience speech so you know if this is a problem with companies than and saying all of this what they want out. They allowed the union to come e n. When they're having those meetings to make that balance but this is where the only way that the union has access to. The workers is after hours now. The timing of union elections is another criticism that we're hearing from republicans. Here's congressman glenn graffman of wisconsin under this bill. You can have a vote on unionization within under fifteen. I'm told even eleven days of finding out the vote is coming. You look at our elections. You get over two and a half months between filing knowing you're going to have an election and actually the election. It's hard to believe anybody who really cares about the work we do that. Doris what do we make this criticism. Here are these union elections going to be held on a short notice. Well they need to be held on the short notice because of the time that the employers have to really scare workers in these tactics. So he's comparing this to election day. You know that said all the time. So there's no debate about bat so but yes. Workers need to know and things need to be timely.
