About twelve miller's wasted in june july and august and the correction would not correction addendum to art is. I'm going to quote you to you. Art you're telling us last week and more reading i do. It's not a booster. It's more appropriately called a potentially three shot regimen so that we don't get into this can under having said that who says learning doesn't occur exaclty media discussion. So is there any evidence so far and this is not. Because i plan to become a booster bandit as marjorie calls them is there any evidence while we're still looking what the benefit potentially is. Is there any evidence at all that there is harm from having a third shot. Is there been anything. No none you say. Oh sorry go. No co overdrive reaction too much immunity at it now. I mean there's probably i'm gonna guess. Hundreds of thousands of people have done this but we're not following them. They're just kind of wandering in getting it disappearing into the unknown. That's always bad. You wanna be able to trace and track People who are doing this and we're not really set up to do it So i do think it's the third shot. Correct not sure. It really is a booster but in the sense of the ethics. Here your choice. you're thinking about it. They'll do it. You probably could do if i know. I'm still trying to wait for a little more information to come in. I think it might be a little too risky. And maybe it's too soon look. I got my shot february. Should you know. Should i wait. The full eight nine months before immunity starts to go down. Is that the best timing to really get the effect of my third shot..

"Who or an applicant for legal immigration status. Who's got an experience that you think reflects changes under the Trump administration on You Want to tell your story or if you have Ah, Question comparing Trump and by then for Julia Preston 646435 70 to 86 46435 70 to 80. And we've been talking so far about refugee and asylum status as to two parts of the legal immigration system. Pulling back even further. Trump has proposed that the immigration system as a whole move away from things like the diversity, visa lottery and the model of family reunification, as ah, Primary criterion under which people can get legal immigration status and more toward what he calls a merit based system here. He is announcing some proposed changes in May of last year. Random selection is contrary to American values. And blocks out many qualified potential immigrants from around the world to have much to contribute. Well, countless and You wouldn't believe how many countries like Canada create a clear path for top talent. America does not. There's a lot in that little 32nd clip. Let's take the end of it. First does Canada, which I think generally has a good reputation around the world for its immigration policies. Have the kind of merit based system that Trump wants to move to the United States to. I'm not sure that that's that's exactly the model. But Canada does hair of a Mohr of America based system than the United States. Ah, I and I, I will say that that this is an idea of President Trump's that is actually well within the mainstream of the debate that has taken place in the United States over many years. I mean, President George W. Bush basically embraced The idea of a merit system in his proposals for for immigration reform when he was president. And so the problem has been, and I do think that that This is the direction that the country will eventually go to end. And Joe Biden hasn't framed. His proposals in the same terms obviously is a merit system, but he's talking also about Finding ways to make the employment based green card system more flexible and more responsive to labor market conditions. I mean, they are our system as it exists. Today is just incredibly bureaucratic. It doesn't work for all kinds of people. And employers. I mean across the country. People are just crying out for some kind of fixed to the immigration system. And, um, this direction that President Trump is pointing to Is not is, you know, certainly part of the debate. The problem has been a political problem, Which is that remember he framed this as He's framed it repeatedly in very offensive terms to some of the country's Ah ah, and made it clear that he doesn't think, for example, that immigrants from Africa would be as amenable. To what he describes as a merit system and so and he has not such a nice way of putting what he said about asshole countries way we are on the radio. I'm trying to, you know, trying to You're very professional. Very professional challenge here, not sinking the conversation to the level that it has seemed to go sometimes. Yeah. Let's take a phone call Marchal in Richfield, Connecticut. You're on WNBC. Hello, Markel. Hello, Brian. But first thank you so much for being our boys is being quite Quite a quite A roll, of course, is that we've gone through and then you help us go through it. I'm from originally from the northern part of Spain from the Basque country and I came to this country maybe 30 years ago, but I just wanted to highlight The stark contrast that I've gone through on that I leave. This was in the early part of the Clinton administration. When I first came here on a student visa, and it was quite easy, Tio to obtain their student, Lisa back, man. I've been. I got renewal that these are being She's administration and then working. These has during the Bush administration, and that was quite easy as well. And then I became a citizen finally before before Trump got elected. And I beat it because I don't think we should be surprised on how incredibly clear standing on immigrants wass On the reason why anyone has to protect myself on so now with the Kobe it'sjust been no different is he's dialogue he stands on immigrants has not changed a bit, even since He was doing. He was doing his campaign. So on. I would like to offer that maybe we should, or he should call. The pope and asked for a prayer for him while he's at it. Maybe maybe ask to borrow the pope. Movieland tune it in tow Trump movie along with Sparkled. Thank you very much. You know, the pope is playing for everybody. Even people like Donald Trump, who aren't Catholic, But go ahead, Julia. I was just going to say that the sequence that the caller just described Every step of that. Sequence has been made more ah bureaucratic and difficult by the Trump administration they have in terms of the legal immigration process they have carried through with their promise to impose what they called extreme vetting. So just every step of the way there are new requirements. New scrutiny. Uh, the State Department and and us CS that administers the legal system have been closing down offices, so it's it's more difficult to gain access to the officials that you need to speak to. To be able to get legal immigration and to be able to get legal visas to come to the United States and the one of the big issues for people who are in the United States and are really attempting to do everything that they can for the legal system is what is known as the public charge rule. Which went into effect in February of this year. And so this is for people who just to be clear about this is it people who are legally in the United States, and they want to become A green cardholders. They want to become permanent residents of the United States and now suddenly they're facing Ah ah lot of scrutiny about whether they would or in the past have used Ah, ah, whole array of of public programs and so and this is not.

"Brand in 1998 California voters approved proposition to 27 severely limiting the state's bilingual education program. In 1998 3 white supremacists murdered James Byrd Jr in Jasper, Texas. And in 1998 Donald Trump was asked about President Clinton, saying he never had sexual relations with that woman, Monica Lewinsky. Or with Paula Jones. Paula Jones is a loser. But the fact is that she may be responsible for bringing down a president indirectly. And you know that statement was a bad statement to have made been made and It's proven to be false. So Trump in 1998 managed to attack Bill Clinton but still disbelieve the woman. We continue with Jane Eisner and Bill Schneider in 1998. Jane was editorial page editor of The Philadelphia Inquirer. They came out for Clinton to resign over the affair and lying under oath, but then opposed impeachment. And Bill Schneider, CNN senior political analyst from 1992 2008 his new book. This standoff, how America became ungovernable and Bill in your book. You write that the puzzle throughout Clinton's presidency was why he was hated by so many people. When he fashioned himself a new Democrat who led his party back to the center. And you explain, and culture war terms, both that hatred and the support he got from African Americans and feminists and white liberals. Despite breaking faith with them in policy ways, not just in his behavior. Can you talk about each side of that a little bit? Well, he was hated that large sums of Americans who know that was an old America who objected to his values the values of the sixties I remember interviewing a conservative leader in Chicago. And I asked him a simple question. Why do you hate them so much? I mean neighbors policies. Most of his policies were supported by Republicans like balancing the budget and welfare reform and NAFTA. Those were things Republicans life. And the gentleman gave me a memorable nature, he said. Why do I hate Don't win because he's a womanizing, non inhaling gay promoting abortion Protecting done hating war protesting Abortion lover and I said, so. It's not about the policies. It's about the values and he said, Damn right. I hate that man's values there the values of the sixties. Jane. How liberal was the Philadelphia Inquire editorial page when you were running it in 1998 and you know when you think of the fact that Clinton was doing all these neo liberal things like adopting Republican policies on crime and welfare and free trade. Don't ask, don't tell as an attempt to compromise on gays in the military that gays hated Saying abortion should be legal but also rare centrism. But you know, I guess within an overall culturally liberal framework was it a stretch to support Bill Clinton? Did you editorial page strongly like Bill Clinton? What about that side of the culture wars and the rational or irrational love or hate for Bill Clinton? Well, I do think that some of it was irrational and from our perspective, I wrote the editorial endorsing him for reelection in 1996. Remember, this is before the Lewinsky Scandal came to light. I think that there were things that he promoted that we're very much agreed with, including a balanced budget. Uh but there were also things that I was very worried about at that time. We didn't know How his welfare reform proposals were actually going to affect poor women in particular, and I remember having a lot of concern about that. So I would say that, uh, we took it by issue by issue. Good over all thought that hey, had been a strong president for his 1st 4 years and deserved to be reelected. Um, but I concur in in what Bill said. You know, this was before Facebook and Twitter, but an email was just starting and And and the fact machine was just around, and I just remember receiving so many messages from people who had a visceral hatred, um for the president. For his wife for anything that he was associated with, And I think a lot of it was cultural as said that, but I think there was something else I think it had to do with A way in which his personality seem to be inauthentic. There was something slippery about the way he tried to get out of things, um, ranging from, you know, not acknowledging whether or not he had smoked marijuana to the way he tried to describe his way out of the affair with Monica Lewinsky. And that was part of it is well. I think that there was just a distrust of whether or not you can count on him at the at the very core off how he would behave a character and I I also wonder if there's Another factor will get both of your take on this, and then we'll go to some phone calls. I tend to think That the organized Clinton hatred the vast right wing conspiracy, quote unquote such as it Actually, Waas was born from a political desperation on the right to stop Clinton by any political means necessary from unifying the country from actually ending the culture wars. Which his brand of politics was aimed at doing all that centrism all that, you know, given ground to the Republicans on various things and so build the Wright was freaked out that he might win and unify the country on those terms. Which were essentially culturally liberal in their framework, though, with those compromises, and so came the right wing activism that That fueled all of that. Rational or irrational hatred of Bill Clinton and even the the impeachment. What do you think? What? First of all, Bill Clinton was the first president to get elected with who bore the cultural values of the sixties, maybe of his policies or compromises and was supported by Republicans. But as I said before, his values were squarely those Of the left that developed in the sixties, when I called the New America as it was emerging, Uh, you know, one of the thing that's important about 1998. The economy was terrific. We did a poll in at people is this the best economy their lifetime. 70% of Americans said Yes, but we're making money, and they attributed in large part to Bill Clinton's presidency. So he was a hero to an awful lot of Americans. He also had a base his base. You know, the Iast politician once have you define a base and he said. Your base are the people who are with you when you're wrong. Clinton had a base in 1998 including African Americans and a lot of women in Hollywood liberals. I interviewed them. They stood with Clinton because they said, his enemies are our enemies. You have to have a base. Ronald Reagan had a base during Iran Contra and Trump's certainly has a base right now, so that's important. And that's what got Clinton to that period. Jane. Same question. Yes, I think that there was definitely the sense that he was. Bringing forward the cultural values of the sixties. But I I do want to just emphasize that he really governed as a centrist, and there were times when he he disappointed many liberals. And so you know, I think that he was Trying to create this kind of new Democratic party 1/3 way, if you will, in which he was willing to take on even some of the cultural, you know, trope from the sixties. Remember when he criticized Um, a an African American artist for for for her lyrics, Sister soldier? Yes. And and so I think. I think there was a lot more complexity to his approach to these issues. Then perhaps we realize now Ted and Richfield, Connecticut. W N Y C Hi, Ted. Hi. How are you? Good. Thank you for protecting my call. I'm a conservative. I have eight daughters. Hey, And I think that the support that don't Clinton God. Lewinsky affair. Out front. The separatist movement was a big mistake for the feminist movement..

They explain why it's demeaning they just announced it's demeaning. Why is it demeaning? If it's demeaning to any does any cheerleader for an NFL or NBA team. For example, do they hide that fact when when they meet some sophisticated people at a dinner party. What don't they what do you do an engineer like the daughter of the man who called in who's an ice girl for the Arizona coyotes, Phoenix coyotes, Phoenix coyotes. Maybe they changed it. I don't know. And in the twenty years I've been involved in the industry. I would say the fifty six year old woman today, the majority of remade at my then we could be a sexy is them, exactly. Hugh.
