"Imitates life I look like the crazy father looks like they said I look like crazy father just like they said about Richard Williams Still there were also many history making wins in the first fully in person Academy Awards ceremony since the COVID pandemic actually This morning Washington Post film critic and Hornaday with herte Like everybody else I was confused and shocked and sort of numbed and upset I mean it was just a really unsettling painful moment to witness Made all the more surreal by the fact that he does win best actors just a few moments later So you've got just the lowest of the lows followed by what should have been a really celebratory moment Instead turned into this kind of attempt I think And I think a genuine one I mean I'm trying to I'm trying I go to grace and moments like this I mean humans are flawed They do impulsive awful regrettable things And what I saw in that speech was his attempt to kind of come to terms with that and to a little bit explain increase our understanding of where he was at emotionally but no there was no doubt that it was just an incredibly painful moment that I'm frankly still trying to process myself And do you think this is a career altering moment for Will Smith One of the things that makes this so confusing our own Helena dyer wrote a great piece Andrews dyers about the Vanity Fair party that happens every year after the Oscars and apparently he was greeted I mean first of all we saw him get a standing ovation After the speech and then went to the party and partied and danced and everybody applauded So that was a little surprising to me So I just I really don't know And I'm kind of waiting to see if there's any more efforts at some kind of accountability because the academy issued a statement but it was pretty anodyne And yeah I think that maybe the viewing public might need a little bit more Then what seems to be on offer right now in terms of some kind of really meaningful accountability not just a kind of apology tour that we're kind of used to now But I honestly have no way to read where he stands in Hollywood It's his present moment And we just got an urgent from the AP and it says film academy condemns Will Smith's slapping of Chris Rock at the Oscars says it's exploring further consequences Okay well there we have it And I think there are different ways you can handle this You can either literally take that award away from him You can disinvite him from future events You can sort of in a suspend his membership or cancel it outright So yeah I guess that's what they're in the process of exploring Well we spent a lot of time talking about the slap What about the good stuff as far as the other awards were concerned What was your highlight of the evening I like it when everybody gets a little something Because it was a nice group of films that got nominated This year and like a lot of my favorites did like Belfast got screenplay power of the dog got directing And then the wonderful heartwarming coda One best picture which if you've seen it you know it's just one of those old fashioned crowd pleasers And frankly king Richard you know smith's film is a wonderful movie And then we saw dune take a lot of those crafts and technical awards which I thought was really interesting Because I actually thought Spider-Man might get some reward for let's face it saving the movie industry certainly the theatrical industry at the end of 2021 But no I like the way they were spread around.

"Richard Oh wow Wow All right are you supposed to walk us through what happened there So basically Chris Rock makes a joke about Jada Pinkett Smith being in GI Jane too because she has her head of shaved and he seemed to be making a joke about her being bald It's not clear if Chris Rock was aware that she has alopecia which causes hair loss but she's very very public about it in the past And Will Smith obviously took offense to it walked up on stage clocked Chris Rock and then walked back to his seat and yelled twice for Chris Rock to keep my wife's name out of your mouth And he used some expletives there Yeah so as you mentioned he went back to his seat yelled what he yelled but then as the night went on he won for best actor his first ever Academy Award Right exactly And the speech was not the apology that I think a lot of people hoped for expected He basically compared himself to Richard Williams which is the character he won for playing Viennese and Serena Williams father And mentioned how art imitates life and how people often called Richard Williams crazy and weird and that he was just defending his loved ones He also invoked God and the devil and he didn't actually apologize to Chris Rock He apologized to the members of the academy They apologized to his fellow nominees but there was no apology to the person who deserved it the most Now it doesn't seem like it but there were other really big moments that the actual awards tell us about those Yeah so it was interesting to see kodo when all the awards it was nominated for including the biggest one best picture with that win Apple became the first streaming service to take home the big prize on Oscar night Also from koda troika who plays the father in that movie He won the best supporting afterward And he is now the first deaf man to get an Oscar for acting And speaking of making history Ariana debose one for best supporting actress Yeah it was great to see her win because it was a very historic moment She's the first openly queer woman of color to win an Oscar for acting And it's also worth noting that this is a sort of rare win where a pair has won Oscars for playing the same person So Rita Moreno won the award 60 years ago for playing Anita and she was also in the room that night to cheer Ariana on So it was really nice to see that happen That's NPR's Aisha Harris She's a co host of NPR's pop culture happy hour Thanks a lot Thank you Tensions.

"Seemed unloving. You know, but they were survival tactics that they had to use. They had to employ in the love and service of their family, and they didn't care what other people thought about. And it's a beautiful time in my life and in my career. So much. Jada celebrate a night. We're going to sleep. Clean the hell to sleep. Okay. A nap is a celebration around here. You deserve it. That and more. Thank you so much, will. By the way, let me just say my favorite part of the whole interview is when the publicist ring your arm to stop and you kept on going. Oh, well you know that's what we do. Because when the emotions are flowing, you don't just stop at a question. No. Will Smith saw his self being this champion for those two little girls? And he saw his father in king Richard, you know, Richard Williams, and you know, one of my favorite parts in that movie is when king Richard says, the world, the world never cared or never saw. He said, the world never respected Richard Williams, but they don't respect y'all. And it just hit me because there are so many black men in this industry. So many black men in this world that are not seen and he realized the burden of strength that he carried. It was beautiful. I love that. Now you also talk to Jessica Chastain? I did. We can heat up. Oh my God. Jessica Chastain, I called her out for her meme worthy reaction and she just had to give props to one of her favorite celebrity friends..

I remember reading about three pianos in studio shifts. Sorry told me. I go to barry to describe how feel spec record with and was that the first time anyone had that she'd go into detail yemeni basis five or six acoustic guitar just playing on the back of eastern. Yeah of his guitar. Well the funny addendums factors that before waterloo. Abba was stuck for an idea and the guy who was their engineer. Not their producer. Went out one day and walked into a second hand bookshop and found my book about specter. This is he says he's says authorized ever grow griffey and he said and i read this read jeff barry passage about how spectrum and he said yeah that's really interesting and he went back and talk to connie anderson and bulan benon baby and if written agneta well and the rethought how they made records and your just off those ranges credits makes sense it does make sure you expect to get sites. You can get does sound like influences. Clear are always sounds like spent together. I hear it to me. Go on record okay. Really changing the name undefeated into to be a which. We're going to change geographical through just just briefly to note the passing of nancy griffith who died earlier this week. And we're featuring two pieces about nancy. Well i'm from one thousand nine hundred eighty eight which is probably what i aware of roughly. Even though she made records fuda and more recent piece from twenty twelve by david burke where she's calling on her career. And i can't say i have already got nancy griffith but it's interesting reading the she says cats so this nineteen nine eight pieces where my home country thing was and she says. I don't care to be lumped into a group called new country or whatever. Because i don't come from the same state of mind the most of them came from and then she's slightly. Sneeringly i spent is on the road just traveling as a loss across america whereas the rest of them just went to nashville through the industry to build the following. She's an zero harsh. Says she's pointed towards honors and she doesn't stunt trust the burgh. I am very literally right. She did the original of from a distance and she did but yeah. I can't say. I mean what did you like is at the end of this. Twenty twelve pace. She says it was quite chilling to read now. She proudly retains the the. That was the buzzword of obama's election campaign and she says the legacy bush left was stupidity that other people can follow in his footsteps and be that stupid and succeed that was his legacy but the bombers surprises have total belief in him to get things done and it's chewing just to read about the stupidity of the bush era given what.

It's dreadful yeah. I can understand mccartney. Because he thought he'd recorded these songs and that they will be and lennon gave them and harrison into spectra. Yes yes. When joel them with know this infamous story that bruce johnson and kim fowley went down to dolphins of hollywood. We've not in hollywood and saw john dolphin hip mud by one of his song royces. You wouldn't know that meeting students but he's interesting you know i mean. He was born in to enormous wealth. Of course so. That's a strange fact here in the story songs on on these two albums that we've been talking about. Some of his songs always sounded a novelist. Disney go right injury sound like they belong in somewhere else some like carlo design alongside russian sense that comes in with him. Brush david kassian. People a subset of what probes the beach. Boys were it would have this. he's very. He talks about relationships in the band. He's been trying to tell to tell. Not hundred sixty the evans. Wonderful whilst you come to listen saying so don't believe it while he's he's keeping summer live is desperate title for an album isn't it. They did a lot of absolute was huge. Huge was the endless coppola with american graffiti. Such kind erode commercial here a second clip. Dennis isn't.

"Split talk about two hundred bucks in his his interview for for for because it's called john tobu mountain some six. It's quite impossible. He basically is trying to refuse to talk me questions. John fulham stock way starts of admiring the chinese. Go down the street and goes into see how you love. Oriental franken revolt. He talks david marks. She's interesting all judging outdrawing leaving the bounce become a dentist then coming around again try to grow some dumb. Murray wilson doesn't really answer the question. He goes into the thing about how mari wilson gotten contracted to capitol records and what he called indentured. Servitude millennialism used to have indentured servitude. Remember that seventeen hundreds or something. You'd leave england you go to worden cotton cottonfields for a while but then in nineteen sixty one. They called it a ventured servitude capitol records recording contract and we were living net under that miserable for about two. And i don't mean fill abouts. How many years. Nine years years. I finally got. You'll find. File finally got a decent contract with a respectable one. That's not a prostitute of are beautiful ours. Yeah prostitution involve useful on. I mean it's it's interesting to hear what love so bitter about cavalry quits. Well that's probably true about the deal that the set the deal. Mary wilson negotiate recap coast but mike. Love is also the person who just before in february just before the pandemic took his beach boys to play to some kind of convention over a trophy hunting company. Which the keynote speech was given by donald trump. Junior charles schumer high lamas and he's accusing funding twenty. He was actually to produce on points that his flown out to meet them. And bruce johnston labels. I'm the guy go to talk to. She was one point. Shawn's short story on the. He's in that playing off the end of the football game in some matt stadium in and they're in the dressing room and he's talking to one of them. I think it probably is bruce. Johnson them present since being fantastic read about my love which point a locker opens might love steps locker. He'd been sitting local meditating and they played their clayton twin engine. Football stadium is. That's the song publican. Each is the weirdest beach boys gig. Who went to grosvenor house in the ballroom of the grosvenor house on part lane. Nine seventy seven the cbs records international convention which they would fill every room to grab house with people from all over the world. They're salesmen and people affiliates and every night. They would have a concert with their artists and one night. They had the beach boys. Unbelievable that was they flew. The beef was in. Just play to this in the in the basement. Boredom clinton nice place and brian was there and that was the first time i'd seen brian live with the rest of the beef. They've they've played a she like. How often how no more. But i do remember there a moment when might love physically elbowed brian aside and it was one of those diana ross. Mary wilson moments twenty-fifth murder ratio in the the vibe those public. I mean this is a good much to the whole. Brown is back kind of you know a movement to the mid seventies and i wondered whether or not we could see bruce johnston talking precisely bow issue. Absolutely what is kind of about that but also about them..

"Album is also full of lots of someone's like donkey starts dunker near the water. Which is pretty thing for beach. Birth has a terrible student demonstration block. She's a single wasn't it that dot was it was wasn't a hit. It's might loves rewriting right. Seattle number nine with enough whereas you can see. You can see why it's there because it was a nod to can't stave did was jet riley book into the big sur folk festival. Yep and he he sort of realigned them in terms of live performance he put them on a gi all as well and then in that sort of run of shows in nine hundred one finished with sharing the bill with the grateful dead at fillmore east new york now a year earlier. That would have been unthinkable. Now we're an old use act but he's somehow push them into contemporary net into the and they were more or less accepted so some did get very good reviews and riley's contribution was not just to do that but was to write the lyrics for feel flows and long promised road to feel flows. One of them's written by colleagues written by the tune by brian and they were quite sort of advanced interesting productions and certainly the lyrics a step there are sort of in parallel to what van dyke parks have been doing suits so he judged kind of feel right. He does the vocal. The dan life tree which is another kind of climate awareness. Some which he wrote lyric to and sang. Which i think that last that closing three songs on surf's up then left tree till i die. Brian's great so and surf's up that's an amazing way to finish an album actually gets alone. People probably never cutlass neither beach for a skeptics. Started off man. Don't go near the water but it soon. There's three three months. I mean the sorts of back story away to this. The theme of this is how the beach boys survived drowns kind of breakdown. Yeah really when many would have thought that runs kind of lost the plot. That's probably the prove that was really not case. Riley's big thing was to try. And bring brian back into active participation. And he did that semi successfully with with snap but then he he had the motives for this will never be known. Because he's dead now. He died in about six years but he took the whole band holland and of studio and they're very sophisticated the engineer and everything and their families and that was his idea to relocate the beach boys to the netherlands running down the streets counts expensive. Can you imagine what warner brothers that they all went and they produce that album holland which has some great. I love chat rally got while they were recording at jack. Riley got brian wilson. Ring me up from holland to sing. That children's thing that comes on an now freeway and strange. But i think that was jet riley's fully and he carried on with them and did come the passions so tough. I think did that with them. And then was kind of there's this thing because then it's kind of stepped up as a rights and call it contributed and bruce johnson obviously came and but also they amalgamate. They pulled into new members. Ricky frikkie from salem. Which is greg. Yes and it's so funny that the group could absorbable this area from being set a group to brian's group into this kind of it worked. Well bruce johnson audio and listen to minute. He keeps referring to their vocal group. They also banned such retooling of eventual sense. That allows that in a way that if they were actually amis glad. We gatien drums guitar on air. They'd had how blaine yes sir. Play on the record short from the dynamical. Group is about the singer's music. Yeah yeah maybe allows for that yet. If sprayed i just add about jack riley that he was in the sense charlotte in some senses. He professed to be a pulitzer prize. Winning journalist broadcast journalist. dc not true other stories mutt. Love sneers some of their mouth. No no names but they had a couple of manages. Just good often mario off too comfortable and that's probably who might loves her superior would be should think he hated him even though he actually turn the career but not in probably not in the way that mike love himself in a way the justification of mike love came at wembley stadium on midsummer's day. Nine hundred seventy five. Do you know that story. The elton john gig. It was an elton. John stadium gear. Beautiful june the twenty first nine hundred seventy five and the bill was somebody at the bottom bill remember but then he was rufus then it was the eagles who were pretty much known of tom. They'd have one album out then. The beach boys. Then elton john who was premiering. I think it was captain. Fantastic and the brown dirt cowboy. I think and he was going to do the whole albums. The first time nobody really heard was always it was. Maybe it was not anywhere. I don't know because like almost everybody. I left after the beach boys because because the beach boys several things they got that magic at the end of the beautiful personally summarized right you know when they started in wonderful sunshine doing catch a wave and then you know the sun suddenly started to go and it was beautiful beautiful twilight but magic that everybody wants when they play on a festival and it was they played getting onto to and it was just incredible. It was everything without brine. Say right in and mike love fronting them. Doing lots of oldies. Doing car certainly didn't do heroes and when they finish everybody was exhausted exhausted with happiness and probably thirty thousand people stayed on the thirty thousand people so i left pulled out anyway. That was a great moment in the history. Actually that was the kind of oldies version of the beach. Yeah the beach boys. I'm going to see us. they mark. There's an sense to beach boys on this might loves me voice which is really about the oldies hits good dowager and it's walmart must call it. The republican beach mckee democrats shorts. Which which of course is much more interesting to me. Not love zony subheads but maybe we should hey The voice of mike love often such pains his villain of the story. We're talking about even use saying well. Maybe we'll spouse ever makes out and then you listen to this interview. Said he's every bit as.

"Just don't let some stumbling through what can get any moment from readable. A piece that laura niro i will absolutely again listen again pronunciation right. I mean one of the points is mike about a is that was sort of outsor- stat with the kind of hippie counterculture and it sort of ironic in a way. That jackson browne her boyfriend that she has nothing to do. She didn't even wanna be on. Geffen's label asylum. She refused to go to asylum. And you your lead to this boyfriend. Who's in the green room or whatever. The incomes taping. Don't mention. That jackson wasn't wasn't she change terms which came back economies named italian american curry. Very young guy So jackson so she. Won't you point so. I don't think he wasn't the guy. She married not guessing source of rescued. Her off the disaster monterey as perceived as it's perceived as we not true where. Where is the truth right there on the bill at monterey on the saturday afternoon and she came prepared to put on a show so she had the musicians from the wrecking crew. The the session guys who actually would also playing with the moments and other people so they would probably already john joplin janice joplin. She wasn't jimi hendrix. You know she didn't set fire to piano tom. And it's quite hard set fata jerry. Destroy jones flexibility dylan chop up a piano. Well anyway difficult. It's american dreamers. What the boxes code is released maj fish and the next week move. I think there's an eight album of rarities. Mix of multi for that load roy. We've got enough digs in another box. So the latest in the series of beach boys boxes is also about come is cool feel flows and it focuses on the sunflower them from nine hundred seventy and the surf's up album from one so again. There's this demos outtakes. I love this beach boys. I love this period of the beach. Boys i you reviewed so some familiarly making. We have them all be paid and a really rave. I think you describe feel flows the song as you said. You'll love calls to songs. With words by jack. Riley feel flows along promised road simply the best. Inner quest psalms i've heard and you'll so say bruce johnston's disney goals nineteen fifty seven. I think stands up as a bit of a masterpiece of sop. How'd you how'd you hear it after all these years. Oh the masterpiece to me. Really if i had to. Probably if i had to to identify one piece of music that single handedly justifies white pop music. It would be. It would be successful before it came out. I was phoned by jack riley and it's interesting put some flour together because actually represents kind of hinge. Moment surf's up. Kate were sunflower was was their first album. For warner brothers and sold zilch having been fiddled around with lock warner brothers. Were very nervous having given the beach. Money label in there are the records. And it's a lovely record with some in. This whole world is a classic slip on through classic but people didn't realize at the time and it was packaged in a slightly cheesy way but then an major at the time is michael nick grillo. Who wasn't there for very long then along came. This guy called jack. Riley very strange man alleged. Brian's health food restaurant the radiant ready. I mean if you want to believe any of these stories. He interviewed brian for his. He was radio. Dj at the time interviewed brian and then he recognized very shrewdly that the beach boys needed putting back on or putting on some sort of more interesting track than the one they were on and he you know seeing that they were interesting mike. Love bribe interested in transcendental. Meditation bit of vegetarianism going on a bit of early ecological awareness and he apparently wrote a six page letter detailing what he could do for the beach boys to brian and brian bought it. Persuaded rest of the group. Were more or less persuaded to go along with him. And jack riley really was responsible for sir so he because he knew. Serve up with a lost masterpiece from the great lost masterpieces smile. But there have been rumors about. Surf's up for years. Because brian had sung it on the leonard bernstein. Tv show yeah seven solos sung part of it. Yeah and bernstein said this is amazing. And it was amazing and probably. They're on youtube still. It's beautiful thing. So it was known about that jack. Riley had intelligence to say okay. Let's take this last masterpiece restore it finish it and make it the centerpiece of their next time. I'll have calls thing it and yet but some of brian brian's original vocal and it's a wonderful arrangement. It's amazing stuff in a van. Dyke parks is lyric is just beyond.

"Welcomes pages. i'm barney hoskyns. I'm here in person with my colleagues pringle and martin. Kolia yes folks. We're recording in london office for the first time in eighteen months. And we're delighted to be joined by the wonderful richard williams. Welcome richard hi bonnie. Hi richard you were wonderful guest when you came in. I think about two years ago. So i really recommend episode. Forty one anyone listening to this today. We're going to focus on two box sets being released this month. One that collects the first seven hours by the late. Laura near and the other a beach. Boys sets cooled feel flows which focuses on the sunflower and surf's albums from nineteen. Seventeen seventy one. Let's start with laura who you've written extensively about richard neither one of the pieces we have on the homepage as we your ninetieths. You won't pace about her rehearsing for bbc. Two's in concert program and loved. When did you first become aware of lure nearer. When he lie and the thirteenth confession came out which i think was probably early. Sixty nine are remember. Having a week off. Work from being ill and i got a bought alliance thirteen confession which came in. Its english sleep. Which wasn't nearly as nice as the americans leave. I discovered course neither did it have the perfumed insular postering so insistence so i was able to appreciate it of undistracted by these flippers. And i spent a week listening to that album and kind of internalizing it metabolising. It and i thought it was one of the most extraordinary things i'd ever heard an. I still do so. That was how i encountered him. Sounds about right. And you. I wrote about her. In what seventy seventy one of the festival show data saturday the sixth of february nine hundred seventy one evening with moore nerve for one pound fifty. I didn't pay thirty cells and of course it was an evening not just with laura niro but with her boyfriend at the time. Who is jackson browne who attacked and who is pretty well unknown to the general audience for sure but who came on did a perfectly nice did brought me on the water and things like that and then she did her set at the piano looking very dramatic and from southern canada. Bamako known earth are and it was. It was pretty fabulous and it was quite a you know it was it was full. People were waiting for it. A certain kind of person you the sort of person who went down to buy their imports at one. Stop on south molton street and there were quite a lot those then and it was. I- i it for the times and it was mom dumped it and then she came back a little while later for the in concert. Bbc waving another especially in concert tickets to the sitter online growth. Ever not a lot of who things like the detail. I love from that. Is that if you're in camera range from the bbc you got paid ten bulbs a member of the audience. Can i go back and play along those consummate site. Johnny mitchell and james taylor the front row. Don't timbo mesa. The sad thing about that concert is that it was mom it was. I think it was half an hour. Maybe forty years wasn't certainly no longer than that. But it was her solo again in front of the small audience in the tv theater really great very intimate and it was absolutely full on one hundred percent near and it was wiped doesn't doesn't exist and i went to quite a lot of trouble to try and see if anything survived from it. I got in touch with stanley dorfman. Who is the producer. Who's in retirement in los angeles and he. Frankly cabello remember. It certainly didn't have a copy of it and there appears to be no called anyway which is pretty amazing. Because there's usually a copy of everything somewhere Maybe she didn't want an for staff humid. I mean there's a portion this is back in the late seventies and it was a policy even then to a particular just to get rid of it just wipe over the tapes and reuse them uncertain engineers made it that business to nick stuff you know or or get a copy take but they do they. I remember my dad's there was little place melodies around the corner from us cover garden and if they listen to a goon show they would necessitate of it so when they came to find the things that baby why some people had estimates of these of these games. Well they were wiping earliest the sixties because when albert isla played at the s. e. in one thousand nine hundred sixty seven and that was done for tv series of germs. Yeah jazz goes to college. And that was what immediately because stein. So laura laura can you explain why you think laura is so great. I mean i happen to agree with you. But we're here with two men who don't live and quite divisive. I'm saying tomorrow morning. If you really immerse yourself in work then a voice that can sound quite melodramatic and and social shrill and pauper ethic. He'll still sounds. But i love it now and i guess it to me. It makes sense in the context of what she's doing. So i mean the music is always a subjective experience. But how how would you on sell. Laura to lure skeptic. Subjecting accepted writing room. I know how would you. I think you have to understand that you. She came out of the york culture which included the brill building. Songs the great uptown. So stuff that was being written by govern king man while and barry and greenwich then she signed she. Did she loved them. And do you know she. She grew up seeing as well as studying music forming. So she had. I just i i think i heard all that straight away and also you know there's a bit of broadway show in her which i think is part of the thing that puts people off. I think that'd been put.

"So i'm not at fault for that was really funny. But i'm not at fault for. I'm trying to promote our super weak giveaway in honor of the super bowl. And no one was chipping in with any excitement over it. So i was trying to encourage that. Thank me every time we do. The lucky like me everytime learn something happening. There was a read normally when you do a read you like four with the break but you did the read and then you just said super we go to break or john was going to jump in like we were lyles man. I do a lot of things well. I'm the cleanest broadcaster in the world. Saying ninety nine to maybe a separate london ninety eight taking a couple of readouts terrible ninety nine so bad so we just. We just tried to do a promo for tomorrow. Oh and momo how many takes that four or five four and we still don't have these guys. I'll tell you this. If you keep up this attitude that look recorded is gonna be the open tomorrow. Mobile is killing me on your. That's all he got. I always think that my job on the lookie is to just say one or two things and react to be a conversation. It's a conversation it's your show. I'm just sending it back to you. Don't do pithy when has win. Have i ever been pithy short. You should just relish in it. When i don't talk to me. This is the one time. I need you to talk. Who understands. You mean okay. I'll just say okay. I wanted to get get get gambling games coming up here in just a minute but i wanted to get to jeanie buss and the conversation. She had with the athletic. We talked about this a little bit earlier. But i think it's interesting that jeannie has kind of opened up a little bit. Gene has not been. She's not been out there. She kind of let's rob and and coach through the talk and she was not wishy at the press conference. The russell westbrook press conference. I didn't see her there. Yeah i was there. It was it was. It was a real press conference mace. We were in a press conference room at staples center. I heard that yeah. It was like the first time. I've been to a laker press conference. There was sort of that during the place but it wasn't there at the lake games. Those two they lost in the first round. Now what what do you think is going on. I mean i don't wanna do cova taught. What do you think is going on now. I mean are we going to fans going to be allowed to go or are they gonna wear man mass fence mess because dodger fan starting. Yeah man just going to get used to get. Get some good masks rams fans. Starting saturday have so. I just think the probably at something we're going to have to get used to just got to change your mindset about it how to say i embrace the mask like just have fun with it. I know it is worrying about. Get a really good mass. That doesn't make you feel hot and annoying. Do you have good master. You have annoying. Were for a year and a half already like a month or so. It's not gonna hurt a good example trying to think about over me for this. Because i am so a bridal so much of this mass thing because i got my shots and all that stuff and i'm gonna come on. You're not bulletproof. It's like you get the vaccine and it's good but you know the delta now get you. it's it's not. I know too many people once you start seeing your friends and family and stuff get through breakthrough. You'll put the mask back. Because like i've been going. Scott kaplan breakthrough case minor minor. He said he was fine. He had some symptoms. It was like a cold but no. It's it's definitely pasta. Just trying to think of yourself as a role model. Can you do that. I don't want to be a good example role. I don't wanna be anybody's role model. That's probably a good thing because role model. You're in trouble a good life. you don't. you're doing it right doing it right. I think you you're having a lot of fun. Smoke a lot of weedy you doughnuts you know i mean what exactly i mean you go on vacation all the time you talk about sports. Yeah good i look. I feel very lucky. Lucky to be where i am. There's no question about it too. Great dogs two dogs so manfred. Oh yeah we have you take talk yet with the dog. Voices alfie use higher solve solve. You get paid to do this on. Live radio to talk like your dogs and people like it. You're doing life right. You are now. I didn't watch any of the summer league. Momma did a tiny bit. I can't tell me in the summer league into that. One year the lakers was fun. But really nothing there now. Liangelo boone averaged ten points per game in the summer league for charlotte. Do you think he now is an nba player. Is he gonna make that roster. No he's not maybe the g. league team two way contract. No i wouldn't even go there because d. league contract really. Yeah what else can the guy do. I want to have been right all three kids in the nba. I mean maybe. They need to sell some tickets in charlotte. Maybe they'll do it. I'll tell you what they're going to sell tickets and charlie. They signed terriers here. But they've they've got lamelo ball. Who i think is going to be a transcendent star in this game. I think he's really good. I tried not to overreact to one year. Let's look i think he's really good too was so good. I and i wanted to stay healthy. I e he needs to prove that. I but yeah he's really good. He's really good. He's really good. And i've started to believe that The lavar was right was kinda right. He was kind of provide telling you. I think lavar did a lot of things right as a parent. I mean there's some other things that you could say. He did wrong but he i don't know he's he really train those kids from very early on. He pushed him and he. I mean he's like you did. Did i tell you how he was like taught him to potty train when they were like one. No he's like he's like i. You know just just every time. They would want to do the middle nineties. Put him on the toilet. It's interesting that the babies. Because i think a for example richard williams. I just saw a trailer for a movie. Where will smith plays richard williamson. In the story of serena and venus. It's coming out in the fall. Cool and richard williams named earl woods very much the same thing sometimes that that parent who drives is successful sometimes like for example with marvin marina. Rich marina vich and todd myrna vich. It didn't work. And i think we'd lamelo. It's interesting because i remember a lavar saying this. When i drove all the way to chino one time to do a story on lawns. Lonzo before before the draft and lavar. I have this on tape. Okay i have on tape saying this is not a michael thomson. i scouted. Tom brady and i knew he was going to be great thing. Okay lavar said lamelo will be the best of the three because the melo is more like russell westbrook. He is the most talented of the three. He's the he's a score. He looks for his own shot..
