"Moore, he did it. Late in his lateness of joy foreman. He did it. Late in his career. Bob fitzsimmons back in the 20s. He did it when he was 50 years old. Could still fight at a certain level. But very rare. Very, very, very rare. And you have to be special. And that just speaks to the, you know, just validates how special silver really is. It was a, it was a much better fight than people thought. It was a good fight. It was a contested fight. It was a tough fight. Who would have thought that it was a good fight to watch? And I saw, I thought that Paul could have used the Jabba when he used it. He was better. He could have went to the body more when he went to the body. He was better. He set up that knockdown in the 8th round by going to the body. If you're fighting a guy who's older, who's got an old body, I'm gonna make a very simple and as smaller than you. You should go to the smaller older body. It's that simple. He didn't do it enough, but he did it, and it got him the knockdown. He did it enough to be able to have the edge in his fight. I thought it was very interesting what silver chose has his strategy. He's a crafty guy he's an experienced guy. He's a special guy. He's a winner. He could have chose to move around the ring, but 47 year old likes, maybe he knew that he couldn't consistently do that. Kind of like Muhammad Ali, realized over the Zaire and that fight with foreman, that he couldn't just box around them. We couldn't do it. So he laid on the role that he played the robber dope. He broke them down that way. It was interesting to see the strategy that silver chose can. Silver shows his strategy to be crafty, but not by moving around and staying away as much and given ground. But to come forward to press because he felt that he could break down, he could do two things. He could smother some of Paul's shots and he could mentally break them down. He wanted to test Paul. He wanted to test him. And he tested them. So he chose a strategy that I don't know if I would have figured that he was going to do that at 47 years of age. I give him credit. And he pressed. And it made for a very interesting night. Because we saw Paul tested, we saw improvement technically, we saw more of a fluidity where he's doing his things in a more fluid ways now, where he's adding to his game. His repertoire is getting a little bit more extensive. I'm not getting crazy, but he's getting better, but we saw him get taken into those back rooms into those dark rooms where he was getting hit enough and pressured enough where there could have been a collapse. If he was collapsible, but he didn't collapse. He didn't call. He showed character. He showed, he's your character. He showed that he could fight like a fighter and behave like a fighter. Paul did. And I give him credit for that. I give him kudos for that. I say bravo to both men. They put on a good show. I don't care about the haters. And I didn't pay attention to the scores. I thought that it was a contested tight enough fight. Just by watching it, I wasn't scoring. But and they had enough moments where both guys had moments. It was amazing at 47 years old. That Silva could win the 7th round in that fight. He won the 7th round. I don't know what the judge said but as far as I'm concerned, he wouldn't have freaking 7th round. And at 47 to do that with a younger guy, you know, that's pretty amazing. I just, I think you should give credit where credit is warranted. And I think it's warranted to give both these guys credit. Again, it's a testament to the pedigree, the championship pedigree of Silva, his character and experience, but again, Paul showed character and he showed that he's learning. And listen, what he says Canelo. He ate beaten Canelo. I mean, come on, other people say things to promote themselves. So we got to hate them for that. No, he ain't been Canelo. He's not beating that level fighter. I'm not, I'm not drunk on that Kool-Aid, but he, again, he's doing more than a lot of people have thought he could do. Maybe even more than he had first thought he could do. And I'm giving him, I'm giving him credit. You know, for doing that, I don't know if he winds up like I said earlier with Nate Diaz next. Seems like the vote not maybe Conor McGregor, but he's earned the right to continue down his role. He's earned the right to stay on his train. You want to call the gravy train. All right, good. But you know what? He's in a boiler room. He's in a boiler room. He's in the freaking engine room shoveling coal into the freaking engine. So you know what? He's working. He's working. Okay? So I give, like I said, I think I said what I want to say, I'm curious if you agree with me on that. Oh, a 100%. I think that I think that people have to stop tuning in, thinking that he's going to embarrass himself or not behave like a fighter at this point. He's going to be a fighter. At some point, he'll probably get in there with someone who's better. From a skill standpoint, but he's not going to not behave like a fighter. He's showing that he could take a shot, come back, he behaves exactly like you said like the way you would expect them to as a fighter. So, I don't know, I like watching his events. They're excited. They're entertaining. And at the end of the day, that's what we want to be. I can think of a lot of pay per views that we pay a ton of money for. And the undercard, you wouldn't, I wouldn't watch it if it was on free in the middle of the day and I was home sick from work, the fight stink, and some of these fights are entertaining. Like I said, they got the Le'Veon bell. Uriah hall fight that I really am. And again, again, my cap on it again is that, you know, sofa is proof to me, at least, that obviously the body gets old. But character lives forever. You have character, it's always going to be there. I don't care how freaking old you are. And that man has a lifetime of character, silver. So, congratulations to, you know, to both guys. Yeah, all right, let's jump over to the lomachenko car down on ESPN+ on the Loma under car we had Richard Torres Olympic silver medalist at heavyweight was taken on ahmaud Samir hefney

"And I would do Jiang jole versus Anthony Joshua in Beijing. Or in Macau. Usually despise the thing that spews out of your mouth when it comes to matchmaking and promotions. But that's hurtful. You hit three for three right there. I love all three of those. And in that step, that's a progression. They're popular. They're marketable. I love all three. Yeah, and then you get into the title picture once again. Maybe wild are still out there. I'm telling you wilder versus Joshua is still incredibly marketable. Man they can continue losing their own going to be marketable. They're going to be the version of recordable yoga in front on the bargains. I hope they're better than that. No. At least. Shoulder first fight pay per view. They've sold their rematch in pay per view. They were both washed and they still filled out a how come you the stadium. They were a little bit out of my age group, but Vargas mayorga. My argument would fight you right now. De La Hoya, they were just a little out of my age group, but yeah, I would love to have autumn. Still be a good fight. This past weekend, we saw two young heavyweights in action on the top ranked car, Jared Anderson, first fight and I believe 8 months, ten months, something like that. He had been dealing with an injury issue and Richard Torres junior should say the ex U.S. Olympian fighting in, I believe, his third professional fight. Top ranks high on both these guys. They're both getting a lot of work. Got a lot of TV exposure. Of those two, in terms of bigger upside, brighter future, who do you like? Well, am I speaking like a promoter and a manager? I want to speak like Sergio Mora. No, because you said, who's more marketable, right? You said marketable. You didn't ask me what was the better fighter? Okay, hold on. All right, so let's do it this way. Latin snake promotions that now defunct company that you still have a check in your wallet carrying around. That's my corporation. I know. I'm the incorporated mandates land snake promotions. If you were running last night promotions and you were picking a fighter of those two. You could choose being the one of them. Who would you take? It's an S corp. All right, okay. That's how I write off my money. And that's how that's how I write off a lot of my drinking and dinners. So it is money laundering. I'm going to go Richard Torres junior, man. Really? Yeah, you know why? Because one, he's an Olympian. So Olympians always have an easier way to the top. Two, he's Latino in a heavyweight division. That's unheard of. Look, if I'm going to go just on ABC, who I think has the better talent, I think it's Anderson. I watch him fight 12 O 12 knockouts who doesn't like power, who doesn't like ability. He's from Ohio, I believe so. You know that he grew up boxing some of the best fighters and amateurs. But tours, one, what a silver medal? Yeah. Olympian, but he's short. He's not gonna make it as a heavyweight. Well, see, that's the thing. You're gonna make it as a heavyweight, but he's gonna sell. There's really no ops.

"As always by the voice of combat sports, the great teddy Atlas. Teddy, how you doing? Good, good. Good to see you. You look groomed. Getting down to middleweight. Yeah, I've lost 28 pounds. So I can see a huge difference now. I'm not in middleweight. You know, unless the people that control the scales and the WBC or the WBA are managing the scales, then maybe. Maybe if I paid my Cormier or Daniel Cormier is holding your top. Well, if I paid my sanctioned fees, I might be able to make middleweight for the W for the right price. You'd be feather. Paperweight public. You know, the world of technology is amazing. I still have a fax machine. A lot of people can see it in the background sometimes. But I'll produce a robbers in Italy on his belated honeymoon, helping to coordinate this show. So I hope that he's having a great time and doing this is not creating his first marital dispute with his wife mala, so I just wanted to give a quick mention to rob. We got Sam here. We got you. I'm here. We're ready to go. I'd like to start by saying something to the fans out there. First of all, thank you. This last week we did the we did the Uzi Joshua reimagine oseman, Edwards you have seen fight in the undercard of that of that UFC caught. We got over 300,000 views when you add up the episode and the clips to that episode all said and done over 300,000 views. That's pretty damn good. That is not too many podcasts out there. There's a few months out there like Joe Rogan. He's Godzilla. But aside from him in a few other monsters, not too many podcasts can say they do that. So I want to really take a minute of gratitude to thank all our fans because upon here, domestically, everywhere that come and believe in this show, they believe in the truth, they believe in us, all opinions, and again, being the x-ray, the cat scan of boxing, where we're going to break it all down, and we're not going to have agendas. All the agenda is to tell the truth. And that's a good agenda. The only thing I want to add to that and I'm sure you will too can is that I would ask and again, I'm so grateful and that's why I'm saying this. I would ask for you to please subscribe. Please tell your Friends also to subscribe besides just viewing. We had 270,000 subscribers. Again, a hell of a number. But if you want us to continue doing this show and we want to continue doing it because we love you guys. Subscribe because that helps us. And it helps us stay here. Would you guys and sharing the time every week would you guys said, we look forward to. So I just wanted to say that I'm sure you want to follow that with the same sediments. Of course, yeah, we appreciate everything. We appreciate the people who support, especially the people who support and subscribe to the show, but also by athletic greens because we've advocate for those guys. And all the sponsors we work with, my book, you feel free, like all that support helps us greatly, you know, there's a lot of expenses associated with recording the show and we really appreciate the fans for sticking with us because like you say all the time, if the fans weren't there, there'd be no need for us or no use for us to keep doing it. So that's a good way to show us that you listen and continue to support its effortless, to subscribe, leave a comment, all those metrics help us. Increase our relevance and let people know that we have this show that is a staple in the combat sports arena. So thank you to everyone. Give those 5 star reviews where you guys 5 stars, baby. Go ahead, take us away that can because there was only one fighter slowed down and slowed down his pairs weekend. But we slow weekend as the summer winds down, but pedraza and Richard Jose pedraza, Richard Comey had a very competitive fight, but before we get into that fight, both guys basically fighting for their careers, I would think they both needed the win. But before we go to the main event, we got to take a trip to the slaughter farm and watch a bunch of sacrificial lambs get fed to the lions essentially. These fights were so non competitive. It's so non competitive that to the point like I'm thinking, does anyone these promoters are not concerned about getting someone hurt here? You put in an inexperienced, unqualified prose with legitimate fighters in some cases. And you're going to get someone hurt. I mean, what's the kid's name, Richard Torres? You're going to have a death on your hands if you keep letting people get in there with a heavyweight that can punch like that. That was insane. It was scary. The guy's face down on the canvas. I mean, guys, you got to get someone in there that's competitive with the kid at least competitive, not one sided, complete sacrifice of a lamb. It was sad to see, but what were your thoughts on that undercard? Yeah, well, it's what they always saw. They're doing what they want to do. The top rank to promote is to do what they can get away with. They do what they did in the 70s and 80s. If we're going to be quite honest and that's where we all are honest with transparent about it, we have no agendas. We don't have for meals. I don't give a damn if people like it or don't like it. I just care that it needs to be said. It hurts how sport at the end of the day there's a price to pay to the networks. They don't realize it, but there is because back in the sonys and 80s top break was with ESPN and after 20 years, they turned it into a pharma system like that doing now, the same formula. It's no different and they signed up their averages. They told them you could be on TV. They used the money from TV to sign them. They told them that early in your career, you're going to be on TV, signed with us. And what they do. They went about putting them in with non competitive, even worse, like you said. It's like watching a lion get raw meat. I mean, if you want to watch a lion track down a gazelle out in the wilderness and slaughter it, put on a nature channel. You know what I mean? But not on ESPN or boxing. But like I said, they did it in the 70s and 80s. Finally, it ran its route. It chased the audience completely away. The executives, they finally woke up and they saw the bottom line and they got rid of them. And then they went with a new program called Friday night fights, which I was part of. And you know what? We excelled. We excelled for 18 years. For 18 years and the formula that was used even promoters every week. You know, so there's competitiveness that they don't get comfortable. It's not one promoter that has a deal for 20 years. And it doesn't matter what it gives you. What crappy gives you. You have to put good fights on. So every week a different promoter would put a show on and if it was up, wasn't up to snuff, he wouldn't get another shot at it. Some of the promoter would get a shot to step in there and do it. And what they do and what they're doing, if you haven't noticed by now, yeah, they sign up to these Olympic kids. Again, they tell them they're going to be on TV. They use the money that they get from ESPN. They sign them up and then for the next two to three years, that's about what it takes to develop a young kid. They just, they feed them raw meat, okay? To build up their records of 14, 15, 16, 17, and all. And then they go and get them a title fight, hope they win a title, and then they can tell the executive sea we got champions. But again, there's a price to pay. Because you're scorching earth, your scorching earth, because you're going to do the same damn thing you did necessarily 70 80s. The same thing. Yeah, you throw bone. You put a good main event on once in a while. But boy, oh boy, those other fights.

"That you were supposed to get with idell. Mazed an spa and somebody that you've never sparred before right. I never sparred before. But did you get together now. We never got spar. Oh so i. I was told you were supposed to spar with him. Who recently like we never got the spot. I think he went down to the cruiserweight. Actually so we kinda you kinda fell off on the sparring for that. Gotcha gotcha so is it. Difficult to get farm for you in kentucky. You've gotta hit the road or how's it work. I gotta hit the road for sparring most of the time but Were whenever we could get Heavyweights out there. He just hard finding all hitting well all right. We got stephen. The uk about the force me to say this name one more time and i should have it but you know it is hi Me saiako well. I really says firstly. Thanks for coming on the show as an amateur you fought some well. No names including edgar berlanga jeremiah. Milton and richard torres but you only had twenty fights over six excuse me over a six-year period Did you and your team find it. Hard to get fights as an amateur. Thanks again for coming on the show. Steve in the united kingdom. Yeah you know it was tough finding fights you know. 'cause i was where i grew up in i grew up in sacramento and There wasn't a lot of people in my way class but Usually most of my fights like me and my bad we from the the start we always planning on bigger thing so we always try to focus on the on the bigger fights which were the national tournaments you know we wanted to establish ourselves at know local is its grading everything but number is you know what matters is the national imagine. Big national tatty. So that's kind of what we went for in Yeah they just trying to establish ourselves in in that ranking with all those big name people we got james vow desk from san antonio texas to says wilder versus excuse me reverses while the who you got an how at the got fury. I like walter. But walter is a is a little hard. I say he has. He's he's a good boxer. He has power. But i feel like his technique is still needs work Furious obviously has the best boxing. I think in the heavyweight division at the moment so he has the size he has speed. He can move. I mean that's that's a recipe for disaster. We got In florida who says let's go champ with five. Puerto rican flag. So that's just a just showing love from one. Puerto ricans who another we got brandon lands in houston says. Describe the very first time you sparred in a real jim the emotions and what happened. I'm guessing you need like a like a virgin honan game or something like that. I guess but Yeah it was surprising. Response was he roaches doom. We went out there. And i support this guy that they had and we got to get down to the lower level so you have that the top the second story and then have them first story. Where like makoto many. Pack cow all these people train and it was it was crazy. I was like like starstruck. Basically seeing all the titles up on the wall and like thinking in my head like daniel cota was training like pac l. Was doing his work here. Man that's crazy and who they had your spine in that in the private room I think it was another amateur. They had coming up to buy. I don't know we just put in work. You know But what about your emotions when when when that sparring took place or whenever you know you get i guess you get some high level sperm motions fill the night off. I was nervous. You know allows nervous knows why first time sparring in somewhere. I wanna impress everybody there so you feel nervous. You feel like little like kind of like okay. Got a how to put in work in so that that that nervousness that pressure is on you. We got a alexander line as says we chose to be a dangerous sport hoping that you get a fair shake every fight. How much do you worry about. Performance enhancing drugs in your competitions. And do you think you're stimulus. Sentiments will change as you get bigger fights. Yeah that another performance enhancing drugs involved in boxing in the you know as a team we maintain ourselves clean beadle. You know you don't push that or or use any of that stuff so as long as we know in our team that were clean were clear you know if the other team is using something the nestle on them on us we we prepare for anything. And you know we're ready to go. So if they need performance enhancing drugs to the stepping iranian. That's something that they just need to work on or something mentally that they they got going wrong. Actually with keller plante said that you don't take. Pd's for confidence. You take it out of fear. Jackson was definitely a mental thing in his opinion Eric crews in urban says urban texas says in this lonely sport a box in. How do you stay motivated to go after it every day. I think my family my family's my my passion you know I want my family to be secure in the future. Because everybody's go apart from being world champion. Oh my goal is to one day. My.

"Morning bosman. What much man. Thanks for another show. And you're totally right. I mean i'm not gonna say that guy didn't have no point but overall what he was basically trying to say is the black channels. Want to condemn. The mexican fighter. Wasn't even really about victor conte. That's why he led with the ldc like it doesn't matter just the boxing world. Thanks but no. He had to specify that because he was really seemed to me a racist agenda but he did have some points but over our agree with you. i think your point with the system is phenomenal. The problem is no one's really advocating too hard for so once again we need. You could be the face of it so you know you travel into these conventions we really need to support you because the video that punch klay yesterday is what we need. You questioning the sanctioning bodies accident. Why aren't sean doing anything. Because the reality is rather the fighters wanna omit behind closed doors. They don't want punishment for cheating and that was exposed on. Pbc when wilder was talking about how the punishment should be in kayla plant himself argued against the punishment because the fighters don't wanna be punished for cheating they don't in front of our faces they tell us that but behind closed door. They don't want no punishment in either due to sanctioning body because of the money and and that's the problem so yeah plant sam. What he's saying but he's literally on national. Tv saying arguing against wilder for the punishment of cheating has wada was like after three strikes. You should be banned and plant was like nah. I don't agree with that. I don't agree with and he's like comoran umbro. you're cheating. So the issue is the fighters don't want want that problem. The sanctioning bodies don't want that problem so it's up to the people who are paying who actually have the voice. That's why the voice of the people make so much sense for a slogan. Because we are. Then i gotta cut you man i got my i guess my sale he menez woods going on my friend. How are you good morning. i'm going. I'm good morning. Man you got the you got that baby voice man. Y'all so i actually learnt so much. It's good that we get to talk yet again Because i hear that either you beat or you feel you one versus This olympia and the gist fought In the in the finals right. Richard richard torres. It was a it was a controversial because geico you know we felt like there are some going on. Because you know we're we're coming into the fighting we thought rafts. Hey we're washed wants to. Hey 'cause he likes to come up with ahead and stuff and the regs laugh at us so we're like okay. Here's something fishy going on in So we start off the first round of the first eight cow refining. Wherever in you know. I thought i landed a go punch to the point. Where kinda rock them. Days them but I guess referencing the different gave me a count during them but it was. It was a lot of stuff like that throughout the first round. I mean they some I don't wanna say nothing too much about now. Use a boston but it was a controversial fire. A lot of a lot of people in the crowd knew something was going on. Is that one of the reasons you decided to turn pro or did you continue to fight in the amateurs after that. So that after that. I decided to go for team puerto rico and then i made the team over there in. I've been with them like two years after that. That was at the end of the olympic trials. Team to say so. I won the whole thing. I won the eastern qualifier. When the whatever else have like two tournaments and won the things so how was it because now you you. You've got eliminated for america. You sign up with puerto rico. And i'm sure you see richard torres and team. Usa again now. Now they see you for team puerto rico. How was the tension them looking at you. You looking at them. I mean they feel tension in the air. You know those kind of like wise. How did you end up over here. But you know. I mean you know mean Or fighters in legal during the fighting. That's just that's just what it is. So i understand that You were bullied in your early age. So i wanna assume that this must've took place when you was very small because i met you. You're very big. I mean when was their time for someone to bully you around. I say like what if grade fourth grade. I'm member. I think iran time i was a small Owes our shoring always chunking. He saw you know a lotta kids. They like to like the bullying bigger when you smaller. But no i was talking to. I wasn't really a an aggressive person unless you made me aggressive 'cause then it's a different story but and which a dad being puerto rico. Did he choose to take you to. Boxing was something that you just picked up on your own. How how'd you end up in boxing fighting a lot. 'cause we will make fun. We saw at the at the at the for my cellphone. How starfighter.

"Well, I expect the president to reassure the American people that he's going to make every effort to evacuate every American and all the Afghan allies. Safely, it's important for the president to educate the public about the complexity of the situation in Afghanistan. The president chose to withdraw, not because it was politically expedient, but because it was the right thing to do. The fact that the Afghan government crumbled the moment we left tells us everything we need to know about the inevitability of a Taliban takeover. So for me, it's proof that the decision the president made was the right one. So one of the things that we just covered was a new NBC poll saying that right now, the president's approval ratings are down. I had a lot of has to do with the COVID surge that we're seeing. Can you speak a little bit about what you think feeding your tea leaves what you think how this will impact his midterm elections? I know it's soon, but oftentimes that's how we're trying to track. How is the public going to react to the Biden administration? Well, look, I would be careful not to over interpret particular polling results at a particular moment in time. Overall, the Biden presidency has been a success between the expanded child tax credit and the expanded snap benefit. President Biden has done more in a few months to strengthen the American social safety net than any president in recent memory, a powerful case could be made that he is increasingly to the 21st century what FDR was to the 20th century. Regarding COVID, President Biden's making every effort, but there are Republican governors who insist on politicizing mass mandates. Who insist on politicizing the public health response to COVID-19? No, regarding Afghanistan, the options that Afghanistan were never good versus bad. It was bad versus worse. And certainly the withdrawal was bad, but the alternative would have been infinitely worse, which is an indefinite deployment. Well, I think one of the things that doesn't seem to be captured is the amount of relief that the Biden agenda, the build back together agenda has actually alleviated for children in particular, one of the things that we learned in July is that as a result of the child tasks credit, you saw roughly millions of children being lifted out of poverty almost overnight and then over the weekend last weekend, the announcement of expanding the snap access to food for families. Can you talk a little bit about that and why do you think that's being buried? Look, the president has made historic contributions to the social safety and there are 40 million Americans who depend on snack. It is a game changer for district like mine. I represent the south Bronx, which has among the highest rates of food insecurity, which was the hardest hit by COVID-19 during COVID, the unemployment rate here rose to as high as 25%. And with mass unemployment often comes mass food insecurity that has put real strain on the snap program. And from far too long, the benefits in the snap program have lag behind the actual cost of living, the most families on snap typically run out of food. Three quarters of families exhaust their benefits within the first two weeks of a month cycle. According to the urban institute, the maximum snap benefit falls well short of covering the cost of even a modestly priced meal in 96% of counties in America. So the fact that the president is providing the largest benefit increase to snap recipients is a game changer for those who live in places like the south Bronx. Well, it levels up. That's onto the pathway of a thriving middle class. If we have children that are not hungry when they go to bed, but I actually awake and able to learn in the classroom the next day, congressman, so I'm appreciative of your work. Before I let you go, I do want to ask you one last question in your role as being part of the Homeland Security committee. When we look at the Taliban, one of the concerns is that Al-Qaeda might research in Afghanistan. Is that a concern of yours? Look, it's a situation that we have to monitor carefully, but I agree with the president's focus on counter terrorism. We have to ensure that the homeland of security of the United States protected from terrorism. And we have to steer clear of mission creep and nation building and counterinsurgency and focus on protecting the American homeland from terror attacks. Are you concerned that you're not going to get the cooperation from your Republican colleagues when it comes to anything that is going to address the situation Afghanistan? I always have a concern that Republicans are going to act politically. You know, when the Trump administration negotiated an agreement with the Taliban that would have required withdrawal by May 1st, I do not recall widespread outrage from the Republican Party. So the criticism has been selective. One of the things that congressman meeks who was joining me at the top of the hour before mentioned was that the August 31st deadline for evacuation seemed a little arbitrary from the administration. Do you concur? I mean, I doubt that's a firm bend line. There's no doubt in my mind that the president is going to ensure that every American is evacuating because that the safety of the American people in Afghanistan should be non negotiable. So it is an arbitrary deadline, but I suspect it can be moved if necessary. Democratic representative Richard Torres. Thank you for spending your morning with us. Be well. Stay dry. Take care. Next, a journalist and his Afghan driver were kidnapped by the Taliban almost 13 years ago. They both escaped. But now the driver is trapped in Afghanistan with an uncertain fate. Plus, how the Republican Party is weaponizing the greatest part about America. It's diversity.
