"The hood with sound of waddle afterwards where we're pretty good play. I ran down the field and it just happened. I just heard what the waddle post game where they were trying to catch him in ages. Couldn't good job run down the field today way. Got a guy yesterday. Waiter. You guys hear the call? Did you hear Rufus, who called them yesterday? Guy starts by saying the atomic Moeller High class 85 water gets all excited guys talking like this getting groped in Cincinnati's got a Chicago accent. Yeah, that doesn't work. What you and then he quit and he was the wildest caller. I told Miller to pull if we're gonna play it And then he called back because why don't you think I'd remember a guy named Rufus from my graduating class? That guy called back Because I didn't really go to Moller and 85. Just a big waddle fan because it lies about graduated with the guy I like. I don't care how much a fan you are worse. They waddle class of 85 Mueller high Waters like Yeah, right bowler. You guys were talking talking like this. He's like, Yeah, I don't know. A. J. Pierzynski. It's a big He's a bit woodsy because he wouldn't fight Michael Barrett. I'm like, Wait a minute class of 85 Baba booey. What do you like Howard Stern's, but she's I'm like what is happening here. I think that this guy couldn't have grown up in Cincinnati here. Richard Justice Richard and I, Richard. Justice is a nice man. I've been her very captain. Not really a I wouldn't say very tapped in nice man in a long time baseball guy, But I was I left more confused when Richard Justice was done talking, and I think the guys were confused. I don't think they knew what so here's the first part of it, 100% Do. I think he will. What? I think the job. His if he wanted it. Richard as we let you go. I just want to reiterate for those who are just tuning in to make sure we heard you write that you are hearing is well that the job is, Tony LaRue says if he wants it I wouldn't go that interview literally job If he wants I was more confused. I on my I was like, Wait, I can't decipher what Richard Justice is talking about. Exactly what Aunt Sylvie for you having to follow. All I know is a J. Hinch the best tactician, Or is Louise Because I think I heard both of them are the best tactician. And then I think I heard it's lyricist job if you wanted it, But then I wouldn't go down. Go down and I was like, Oh, my lord. What has happened, so he painted him into a corner. Beautiful. What is why don't we paint him in the corner? I think he's just trying to figure out what the hell is going on right there and said, Okay, just in case anyone joined us late, man, you are saying it's his job. If he wants, he will. What? I think the job. His if he wants it now, Richard as we let you go, I just want to reiterate for those who are just tuning in to make sure we heard you write that you are hearing is well that the job is, Tony LaRue says if he wants it I wouldn't go that far. The best five minutes later. It doesn't get any better way. Also found some face the nation. What's going on? Exactly. You found somebody got some LaRussa sound from earlier this year, which is, I think going to be Troubling to Sox fans. If you don't and I don't think he's getting a job. I really don't but we will play too. Do you think as a Sox fan if he picked up the phone today called Jerry and said, OK, I talked to my wife. I thought through all this I'm in. Do you think Jerry does I think it's I don't. I don't really know, because if Jerry's making the call on his own, maybe Jerry thinks this is a good idea from All I can tell you from what I can get the best I can gather without anybody being in the room. That's going to make this decision like not from Jerry, or from recounted for Kenny Williams. I haven't found one person over there That has said Yeah, it's a good idea, not one. It's Where did you hear the interview from February a little bit later. What would you say? It'll be it'll be I what is trouble? Tony LaRussa wants potentially back in because he's got to correct the balance in baseball. Too much data. Which, according to the sometimes is exactly the reason they fired recurrent area. So It's scary folks. So I can tell you If they hired time. Nobody's arguing Tonino Russo is resume in his in his career. There's things Russo is one of the greatest manager says Live. He's in the Hall of Fame has won three times in the Rusa. We've got somebody going dinosaur, right? We got some ideas with Colonel Russo should be doing We dio Yes, but couldn't involves an early bird special if a Sox fan I'm not saying Hoody. If a Sox fan, a friend of yours walked up and said, I don't want the roots either, But I cannot wrap my brain around a J. Hinch. Could you understand that? No. I mean, I guess people some people just can't get over cheating, right? That's what I mean. Um Uh, okay. I tell you to get over, but okay, build a bridge and get over. Yeah, That's what I would tell you. Build the bridge and get over it, But I can't convince everybody that's cool. I get it. You're not gonna convince everyone Another good shirt, buddy. "Sunday night baseball on ESPN Radio and on the ESPN. That'll keep in our Sunday night Baseball studios, Red Sox and Yankees from the Bronx Austin Bryce. The opener going for the Red Sox James Paxton, the left hander on the mound for the Yankees coming up, We'll talk about the impact on baseball with potentially Mohr. Cardinals players testing positive. Or the Corona virus. That's next. But tonight marks Ron Roenicke ease 10th game as manager of the Boston Red Sox. And it would be fair to say the most unorthodox 1st 10 games of any of his six seasons as a big league manager in the Boston skipper. Last night, chatted with boobs Xiang be about this most unusual start. You're the manager, The Boston Red Sox Ron Ron, icky and such a weird beginning to this season with so many games postponed, etcetera. What's it been like for you so far? Well, it has been a little crazy trying to get in the camp in the way we had to do it with the different Fields in different ways, coming through making sure we're doing things right and then starting the season a CZ. We know no fans in the crowd, so that's a little bit different. It's different in club houses. Fenway. We're using some sweets about to to put the players to make sure that their space right and and feel comfortable, and then we we've come on the road now, and actually, it's kind of a nice change. Being in a locker room, even though we're spaced out, and it puts in portables in, but it's a It's a nice atmosphere to see a little bit closer to what we're used to. It is trying to keep guys motivated and not thinking so much of some of the things that are going on with other teams. Stay focused on what we conduce We They know that we're trying to keep him safe and and trying to good play. You know, better baseball. Really? Can you speak to the issue? I think that every manager is dealing with going into a short season and saying I'm gonna play my good guys as much as possible, because we need every wind that we can possibly get our hands on. But then there's a lot coming at these guys in such a short period. Some of them need a break either physically or mentally. And you have to have your antenna up for that. I do And you didn't really realise that when you when you came in, he knew how important the games were. When it still is still the basically the same thing that you can't put those guys out too much physically and wear him down. We start again with 10 games and second game of the year. I got Bogart sit now because Physically in three weeks. We didn't feel like that. He could go 10 in a row and we try to go easy with him. So it's different, Skipper. Thanks for the time. All right, Thank you. Guys. J D. Martinez got the night off last night for Boston Back in the starting lineup tonight against the Yankees. Let's go to the Shell Pennzoil Performance line and bring in Richard Justice of MLB dot com and Richard The News continues to come out regarding the Corona virus crisis that Major league Baseball is facing. Right now. Morpork native tests expected from the cardinal's so If that is indeed the case. Where do you think MLB goes from here? I think you just keep going. You know, in early March, when professional sports was shut down, it was one guy in the N B a tested positive when baseball came up with a plan to come back. The reason that the 60 player pool they said, Look, we're going to try to manage this thing. We know they're going to be positive test. Now. The problem is when you and I hear there's a positive test or a multiple positive tests on the team. It shakes you. And you think Wait. Should we still try to do this? Is this worth it? And I'm sure that's what Rob Manfred sort Tony Clark in the Players Association. Deal with every day, but from what I hear is we're going to keep trying to go there. Is there a tipping point? There may be a tipping point. But right now the plan is to keep trying to play. And I hope you can make the players feel safe. You know, in his suspicious of the Mets, the latest player to opt out yesterday, Lorenzo Cain of the Brewers E. Sandia's of the Marlins. Do you expect to start seeing even more of this as more teams report positive tests? I think every place well, I know this. Every player, especially every veteran player wrestles with this. And I think Lorenzo Cain was a big one was a really big one because he is a well respected guy and influential guy in that cold. He's a good teammate. I'm telling you, I know the guy. He feels an accountability to his teammates. His city is franchise and for him to opt out, tells you He was eaten up with worry about this, and I just think every player has to deal with this every day. When is it worth it? When is it? Not worth it? Richard justice of MLB dot com Joining us on the shell Pennzoil Performance line, So you mentioned from Major League Baseball continue pushing forward and one of the things they've done has been very fluid, very flexible with their scheduling. What do you think of their willingness to do that and their ability to implement that so far? I think the Yankees Orioles Siri's was was really creative. And it told you like we're gonna have to roll with the punches on this, and we're going to come in every day and bingo looked the way we've done it for 100 years. We can't do it that way. This year, we're in unique circumstances. Let's don't be afraid to try things outside of the box. We've seen that with rules changes and we've seen it with the schedule. It's just each day trying to do the best you can under circumstances and it's true of all of us in this nation. That we have never dealt with before. Let's go on the field. Richard and talk about some surprise teams were completing the first full week of the Major League baseball season tonight, or some surprise teams that had done better than expected. Well, the Orioles lost 108 last year and they're five and three and disrupt the raise and a look. Are they going to finish about 500? They're not. But when you have young guys, when you have a revolving door of a roster, you're trying to rebuild our organisation. It is so much fun to see those guys have some fun. I don't know if the Padres air surprise, but they're who we thought they were. They have done a great job. The last two years of accumulating talent signing veterans, and they are That shortstop Fernando Todd Jr is as much fun to watch as any player in baseball and maybe the biggest surprise of the Rockies pitching great. I don't know if they're going to have enough runs, but they've sort of made you take a look at the NL West and say, Wait a minute. You know if they're in the mix if Arizona is in the mix We could have some fun out there to your point about the Orioles. Richard in playoff position right now, And here we are in the second longest. He saw that coming. Yeah, let him play. How about some teams that have yet to live up to expectations? Astra's I mean, that's where it begins. Of the 15 pictures you would've projected to be on the roster. Eight of them are out, including their number one guy, Justin Verlander. Their bullpen has been absolutely decimated. They have 11 rookies on the pitching staff right now, someone else does He have a dusty baker, the manager, they when they had nine rookies you ever had nine rookies on your team. I own your pitching staff, and I've never had nine rookies on my team. And so you know, our lead got away from them on Saturday night against the Angels lead May it looks like it's getting away from them today. It is, you know, it's after three years of winning 100 games three straight years, they are in the nightmare scenario that every team go through times. Richard Thanks very much. Thanks for having me that's Richard justice of MLB dot com on the Shell Pennzoil Performance line, and I'm Keith. "On the internet, the other day, actually just might have been on Twitter's written by one of the great baseball writers of the country. Richard Justice who for years covered the Astros. And Dow is a writer for MLB and he picked the nine most exciting players and major league baseball. And I'm going to quickly read their names off to you, you what your definition is of an exciting. Okay. Okay, number one, Mike. Trout. Number two Christian yelich number three Josh hater. Hard-throwing Chander, the pen for Milwaukee number four hobby year bias with the cubs, number five, Cody Bellinger with the dodgers number six Byron Buxton center, fielder. For the team with the best record in the American League. The Minnesota Twins he can play number seven just Burland or number eight max sherzer. I like that one. Number nine, Joey Gallo of the Texas Rangers way talked, certainly and number ten number nine number diners, Gallo. So think about the list, all of them with the exception, quite honestly, of joy, Joey, Gallo would be names that I would probably ponder inputting in top. Top dot top ten list trout is a no brainer. Because he can do so many hits. The home runs hits for average makes great place in the outfield, Cody Bellinger on now. Is there a hotter header? We're talking about Johnny come lately here now with the reds played the dodgers at home and on the road didn't get excited about watching Cody Bellinger play. Well, let me just tell you I saw game last week. It was the dodgers against the pirates Cody Bellinger was killing the ball. I think he got four hits in the game, three devils and the other guy. Let me throw this on the list, and I lied. I think he's leading all baseball and extra base hits, and that's Josh bell, you agree. Oh, yeah. I mean both unbelievable. He really is God when he goes to the point. I mean he just rakes watching Cody Bellinger, and Bill, talk at first base. What are they talking about? Oh boy, you're the best. You're the. Eighteen it's not if they're going to get hit. It's just where's it going? And let me throw another one. I agree with that. We'll be back with more than moment. "Two five eight seven four seven one three two one two KTAR h we talked a little bit about Wade Miley, and then afterward Miley, obviously, you've got Brad peacock there. And and you know, Brad peacock is an example of a guy that they were able to turn around and for the last couple of years. He's been very effective. You certainly was affected when he was in the starting rotation in two thousand seventeen. I hope he can continue that if not I'm very comfortable with Brad peacock if need be at some point going back to the bullpen because they're still a guy out there who should be wearing orange and blue. And I don't blame the Astros for the current situation. I blame the agent for the current situation. Dallas Keiko should be on this team. There's no doubt in my mind. Dell's kaikal should be on this team. He should've taken the extension when it was offered a couple years ago. I don't know where well, okay. Check that. I do know where he got the idea. He was worth the money. He was looking for the idea is Scott Boris. But certainly you would think when March rolls around in. Nobody's biting on on on what Kyko is trying to do. And what kind of money he's trying to get in the Astros say, hey, look, here's a one year deal. We're going to offer you here's a two year deal. We're going to offer you at that point. There's one thing to be confident in your own abilities. And take the gamble on yourself. It's another thing when you don't have the job, and you haven't even really made the big money that you think you're gonna make if I were kaikal if I were Boris at that point, I'd say, you know, what take the one year deal go lights out, and we'll go back and try it again next year. But kaikal sitting at home, and you know, after Collin McHugh, you kind of crossing your fingers until the kids come up like Whitley. And obviously Josh James to the phones we go seven one three two one two five eight seven four John is up here on seven forty KTAR. Sports talk seven hundred what's up John about Concha? What you think our offer out there is for two years twelve million? What what do you think we're offering money wise? I don't know moneywise. I have heard there's there was a one year deal that was offered. There was a two year deal that was offered either way the money was not going to be what Kyko was looking for. Nobody offered that money. I mean, how many teams do we see connected to Dallas tackle at some point in the off season. You saw San Diego Atlanta, Philadelphia at one point the Yankees at one point nobody gave him the kind of offer that he and Boris. We're looking for. And I don't know about you. I'm more of a practical guy and at some point. You know, it's baseball season. It's time to go to work. He's not cashing a cheque right now. Right. John, right. Well, let's just gonna hold out like the reliever from Boston until June to China avoid the compensation pick. Well, I will say this as far as the reliever in Boston for June. And I appreciate the phone. Call. Richard justice. The great Richard Justice was on with us during pre-game, and he thinks that Kimberly is gonna wind up going the Milwaukee. And of course, Milwaukee now is desperate because that first domino has fallen in terms of for these free agents. Somebody got hurt for Milwaukee. It was two guys in that bullpen that got hurt with Canabal and with Jeremy Jeffress. So now, if you're the brewers you got a little money to play with markets and Osceola trust me has has a sizable amount of cash to him and you give maybe a gift kimbrel the one year deal because he's not going to get the six years that he was looking for and kimbrel. At that point will probably say, you know what it's baseball season. It's time for me to go to work. I'm going to go and I'm going to do my job..

"I. No. I just told my wife, you're not gonna get much out of me. Sorry. Nothing conversation. Go. Did you just so you came right through the front door was like, look, babe. Love you kids are here. They're great two of them. But in the next two days there are thirty two basketball games rolling on. And so I'm gonna be kind of tapping out what we had a preview yesterday. 'cause I was watching the games the first four games. So those kind of games I'm watching that. I'm also watching the games on the NBA as well. So the one of the greatest things that being able to watch it on my phone or my device. So I can still be with you know, the kids and the family were all hanging out. But you, you know, as we get ready for bed because you know, the Morrison houses lights out at seven thirty. Okay. Okay. His lights out. So now with these games that are being able to go on a lot longer. You know, you get the night games. I can catch more games in their entirety. But for the most part, I'm just kinda peak in a little bit. So it's a rush. Everybody. Raptors went over time. Yes. Now's your wife a sports fan. She fill out a bracket. Well, what's her take on all of this farthest from sports? She is not attract situation. No think she went to UCLA. So she was part of those the great years of, you know, with Baron Davis, and collison Russell Westbrook go to school, and I went they went to back to back final, you know. So it's, you know, for hers likely, we're you know, I went to UCLA. So if it's not involving UCLA, she doesn't care at all. And they're not good. Not good. No, I will say the word trilogy. Okay. This was something that you brought to my attention. Yeah. I've been thinking about trilogies are in a let you take the flu. I saw this morning. Cow brand. Good morning football. He tweeted this out that my dad Mike are follow on. And he said they were talking about back to the future. The future is one of the greatest movies ever. But Mike garafolo the back to the future. Three is the best movie out of the back to the future trilogies and cow. Brandt was a gas. I'm gas that kid seriously that isn't being take that part. "You said the the the the age thirty one in older that was usually for position players right because I look at free agency right now and you've got pitchers Dallas. Kyko when kick criminal kick kick creek kimbrel who are still unsigned and I'm trying to figure out. Why is that is the numbers just too high? Or are they just going to hold out and wait out because you got guys who are thirty and thirty one respectively. Yeah. A Craig wanted a six year contract. That's just never been done for relief pitcher, maybe Misra the market, you know. And I mean, he's going to end up somewhere. So the question becomes should wait. Until after you know, I- injuries are gonna come up in the case of Dallas when he won the Cy Young twenty fifteen Astros already. My thinking was five years ninety million dollars more recently. I think he kinda used Patrick corbin's contract six years as a as a gauge, and it just for whatever reason the market has been there. They astros. I think seeing that TB the team he's most likely to sign with that's been a one year or two year deal. We live in a high spin rate high velocity game right now for pitchers in baseball. That's not Kyko. But he's very effective. I just think that you know, he wanted more than the market would bear. And that's one of the things, Mr.. Manford? It said, you know, if it's a free market economy to understand that it cuts both ways. So I hope you selling soon the game the game is not well served by guys like that not being in uniform, but the market is the market, and and free agency can be a slap in the face for guys while it also rewards many guys richer one more before I let you go. We, you know, obviously, the earth Bryce Harper deal has been signed it's done. But what does that put for expectations for the Philadelphia Phillies going into this as if they don't make the playoffs? Are we getting on Bryce Harper? What's the expectations now that he signed that deal for for the Phillies? You know, I'm reminded of Jason Giambi signed with the Yankees. And he was getting booed and its first month in New York, and they're jeeter put an arm around one day. Hey, buddy. They really wanted cheer you. But this is New York. And you gotta give them a reason they're not gonna just cheer you because you're here. So you know, it's Philly. You gotta win. You gotta perform what are the expectations for that kind of contract next week tastes are you in a World Series? Are you playing a World Series or you have an MVP type season?.

"You will ever see? And the thing that people don't know. He speaks his English is fluent, but he's done. Very few interviews in English because he's like a lot of foreign born players. He's not completely comfortable. With the context of his words. I'd have friend that asking Seattle. Hey, look, I'm leaving town. Could you just do one interview with me and English before I go, I mean, ever see you again NET wrote says no and he walks away, and he comes back and go let me rephrase that hell. No. And but before all star games is ten all star games. What became legendary were his pep talks. His funny profane pep talks to the American League. Log before all star games. And I guess if you know in people players that were in the room. I mean, I it's a moment that they never forgot. They said the guy is a funny. He's likable and smarter tale. He is. You know, if you saw Kukuchi hug him and weep this morning that tells you what his peers thought of him. Do you think going forward every pretty much Asian born player coming from Asia? Basically, we'll be linked to each row in terms of what is what are they compared to what each euro was able to do. Well, you know for awhile here we complained every comp- compared every player here to Willie Mays or Frank Robinson. Now, you're gonna compare players to trout. I I don't know that that's fair. I just think this guy is such a freakishly talented player and says you need personality. We may not see another one like him again. And I say that knowing that Shohei Otani has to be has a chance to be one of the most interesting players we've ever had. But you know, he's just getting started in the game. So we really don't know with each row. We know we know the new twenty twenty five he's going all we know at the age of twenty seven that rookie season. The, you know, rookie of the year the MVP those kind of numbers, and he did it for so long. But if you think about what he was able to accomplish five years into his major league baseball career. And you think about if he did it right now. And you look at the contracts that were given out to Chato Harper now. Trout. What do you think that contract would look like for each year ahead? He been playing right now. And if I'm Mookie Betts who's kind of on a similar path to that after winning MVP. What does that contract? Look like right now after seeing what might Trump got. Well, he's made he made one hundred sixty seven million in its careers did okay for himself. I think well we're in a launch angle era now. And I think we saw enough to know that if each euro had wanted to hit home runs, and that's what makes you a lot of money. Now, he could've hit home runs. I think he would have gotten you know, what's the goal standard. Now is thirty million dollars a year. He would have been in that. Because I mean, the guy had the guy was on all the time. Yeah. He had a better than you had a better than three eighty on base percentage for about happy years. He he got he made two hundred hits look easy. He made two hundred sixty two hits one year look easy. So I don't know what he would have gotten because you have to factor in the fact that strikeouts in home runs or what people are paying the the best dollars for. But you know is compatible to key bet. No. But he's a great player columnist for MLB. Dot com. Richard Justice joining the rich Eisen show Kirk Morrison filling in for ridge. But kinda sticking on Mookie Betts, though, right now, he's at a one year twenty million dollar contract says he's not concerned about the long term deal. But at what point do the Boston Red Sox say, you know, what we gotta we gotta figure this thing out because if he reaches free agency, he's going to break the Bank. So how do you think? The Boston Red Sox Mookie Betts kind of move about Guinness long term contract. Probably settled. Well, they've made him a couple offers. I think in the area of two hundred million and hasn't got it done. So you're the Boston Red Sox while you do have him for two more years..

"Because I really want to know where does his place in in the history of the game of major league baseball. I how we we remember each euro because he's one of those guys, and I brought this up last couple of days since the whole Mike trout deal has come down the twelve years for and thirty million that each euro never won a World Series title. We we'd never saw him on the. Rand stage of a World Series where he took it over and was the MVP things like that. But you mentioned he was the ten straight all star games, ten straight Gold Gloves. You know, what I mean like the MVP? So he's a hall of Famer for sure, but where do we put him in the place of all time great players because when you say his name. I'm a person wants number. We're talking down at the Super Bowl. And this always that debate. When I'm at the Super Bowl. It's got a couple writer friends who always just give me my opinion. Especially now that I've played with a lot of the guys who are interesting discussion for the hall of fame. So we always asked me, what do you think about these this list of guys for the hall of fame? And when you say their name, do you say let me think about that? Or do you go you say this like, oh, yeah. That's that's a no doubt glace each to me. It's like a no, no doubt or no brainer. But I'm trying to figure out. What are you put him at some of those because the one guy who also saw out there in Tokyo. He's one of the ambassadors for the team as well as seeing king Griffey junior. Now, he's already in the hall of fame already. Right. When I say king Griffey junior you'd like, wow. Like all of these different plays, right to your mind. He's hits these home runs. What he did for the game? I think of being seeing each your own being sort of that pioneer that patriarch. That kind of started everything in terms of the Asian board players coming over and now looking at a guy like shale a tiny. Now, you know, who was the guy that really I said, okay. Those dudes can play. We we talked about a two with Dirk Nowitzki the other day too. Because are they similar in terms of bringing their brand of their sport over to the US? That's interesting H rose the first Asian player that I can think of who came over here and had a great immediate impact. You look at all the guys afterward that teams tried like everyone thought dice que was going to be dice que why you know, kind of transcended pitcher Boston overpaid to get him. He had one or two great seasons, and then kind of flamed out of the league. But man, when you when you say, there's no hesitation when you say each rose name, right? Dynamite? First ballot hall of Famer, no doubt about it. But does he have that great moment? I was talking about Mike traffic. What is his moment? Not a lot of postseason appearances or success there in Seattle. But just one of those guys you knew you were watching something special when you watched him play. And I think that's what I'll always think about it's not just any specific moment. It's kind of what he did over the course of his career. He helped kinda how many create that's three thousand eighty nine. Just in just in major league baseball played eight seasons in Japan had over one thousand fifteen hundred more hits over there. So well over four thousand combined hits for his career four thousand three hundred.

"That's on. Breeze by probably not even check the score the next day, you know, unless Mike we had a little scratch on it. March madness. It's so different because these stupid little brackets, you have you know, means everything it's the most important thing in the world right now has it has what about you, Mike? Are you going baseball or you going? I loved opening Dame baseball. Also, I is go to both of them. Sometimes if they were on opposite times the Yankees the Mets. Yeah. See I'm kind of dumping day. I'm kind of torn because I've been been to probably about four or five opening days. There was warm warm warm. It's like the one time. Actually, get to see the whole team introduced. Yep. And it's like the ceremonial first page, but after like the second and third India like all right? I'm done like tournament is like an all night. It's most from one game to the next and he goes to the Knicks. And now since you know, CBS and Turner and everybody's taking over where before we can only watch really one game. Watch whatever. But it was ever Reno regional depending on what part of the country you lived in. You were getting certain teams or or certain regions certain areas. But now now you can watch it on everything. TV CBS CBS everywhere. TBS TNT your smartphone. And the way the US sports mix. You know, she got the I got the Amazon fire. Stick working last night. My son knows how to activate he knows how to go to knit flicks type in his shows and things, but even there you see March madness. So it's like everywhere. So I think now March madness has if it didn't already I think it's surpassed baseball opening day, in my opinion because more people are coming together to watch this then you would probably exploded in Super Bowl miss. Everyone gets involved with that the boxes for the Super Bowl. And then the brackets for this probably be able to wager. Anyone can like my mother who's ninety could theoretically fill this bracket out and play winning the whole you go you see. I mean, it's like how is it been what about a year two years since we've had the legalized gambling. About a year here in a couple of state. It'd be interesting to see what that looks like because we didn't have that before as well. So does that add to some of the, you know, the the flair of college basketball, and you can now put wagers in certain areas that you could do it before. It's also crazy to me how how popular this tournament is considering what we were talking about last segment. There's not a lot of name recognition among the players, right. It's the brand of March madness. It's the brand of the tournament that keeps people coming back every year. You know, you're going to get the same big money. Big name teams, North Carolina, Kansas Kentucky cetera. But like you said the only player would really know in this thing Zion Williamson because he's been everywhere. He's in the palm of our hand on our television sets. But it's the branding the that. March madness is that keeps us coming back and zero money being paid to players zero zero dollars. But you guys were there last year. I was there last year at the four to state Michigan. And I had no idea so many Michigan alums live in Los Angeles. Oh, no idea that was a home game for the the uniform of choice was the collar shirt with the jacket wrapped around the waist. I'm serious. How many I mean it was like high fives everywhere it was a bunch of them. But that's how you know that when the NCAA tournament comes is that you start to get hyped up almost San Diego State alum. So one of our best seasons that we ever had was the coli Leonard year right Senegal state year, by the way with thirty two and three thirty two and three we lost three games the entire season two in the regular season to jimmer for debt in the BYU. Right. And then we lost in the Sweet Sixteen to the Ventura national champion Yukon huskies who had a kid by the name of Kimball..

"What Bryce is going to get that. He may actually get a bigger off one hundred million four hundred. Really are the giants or whoever's making? Because the giants and Phillies are going head to head four hundred million. Saint four hundred million was ready to think the last time boroughs came up empty and one of these deals, you know, going all the way back to Alex Rodriguez. He's the first one where people said my God is two hundred and fifty two million worth it. That was a Boris deal. I'm just I'm trying to think of one where like, let's just say. Let's just say that's what he's about. Won the next guy. He wants the big dollars four hundred where yesterday that that that that there's some predictor there's some people more people close to be more years. They're saying maybe twelve years four hundred million. I'll say this. I don't think for this guy. Even though, you know, he's a low average guy, and it's you know, it's it's oracle park and his death on left east. I think a position player at twenty six in not even entering his prime yet. I'd go twelve years at thirty-three million for Harper and not think twice only because you're the giants you need to be relevant, and you have revenue streams that far far exceed this contract. When you look at what the giants bringing revenue wise, and what they look like on paper with mission rock they could bring in revenue wise in the decade ahead thirty-three million a year for Bryce Harper to keep your baseball team relevant and keep the turnstiles churning at three million. Plus is probably worth it. Probably would go twelve at at at four hundred twelve years for for four hundred. There are some million a year for the overall to the franchise you have to say, all right? Maybe even if I lose a couple of bucks on this. And the overall view this going to help you know, what I mean, would you do it would you go twelve for thirty three years now? I go whatever it takes. You know, giants maybe playing it smart little low key. We'll get the word out. You don't wanna go over five c of Boris comes down. But at the end of the day, they need some listen if you don't get him. It's going to be a giant disappointment for of real giant fans who know that the last two and a half years have not been. But anyway, we'll see what happens though that Mike Brown warrior assisted always good on the air going to join us in a couple of minutes. Now, he's he's going to be by. We got another segment. "Harper. Least is a little bit easier to swallow because he's going to bring people in how much do you see Chato as an actual ticket seller? Obviously the play is there. But what about the personality and the draw especially to place like San Diego. Yeah. You know, I live in Baltimore longtime and one of the things you didn't do you didn't mention any player in the same breath with Brooks Robinson. You did do that with many. That's how great his game was in. It's important to win. I live in Houston. Now, we have a team here that wins, but wins with a certain player way. George Springer place the way just in Burland or Jose altuve eight play I think Machado plays with all that. I think he brings there. I think he's the guy that after they see him boy in San Diego. He's going to be the guy that when he's on TV, and he said bad, you're going to stop and watch. I think he's gonna go bring you to the to the plate will he does. He have the gift of you know, pe- the PR gift Parker. Maybe. Not. But I think he's game is really all. I think he's really good player. Well, assuming that he runs out those extra base hits. Right. "But but even if I don't. Like the numbers if the only way to get Manny Machado was three hundred million and ten years. Maybe it's worth it. Because you've got other teams seems like the White Sox who need an injection of stardom who need a player that can change the way their team looks to potential free agents. And if they're not willing to put up that extra two years because the White Sox reportedly were at eight years in about two hundred and fifty plus so more money over each year, but less money total and fewer years total. Is it worth saying that our valuation doesn't play out to that ten years? Or is it better to say we're going to eat it on the last couple. We might not even still have them around. He does have a five-year opt out, by the way. Many does. Of course, the team doesn't maybe still won't be around. Then or maybe we'll have made such good on the early years of the contract that it'll be worth it. These are of course, the questions the Padres were asking themselves in the rest of the rest of the league as he was willing to wait until he got the deal that he wanted. Now, there's at least one person who was pretty happy that his team didn't go all in. On on Machado's the little Yankees fan that s NY managed to catch with an immediate reaction to the news that Machado and sign with the Padres. Why not? Bye. Bye. Baby. I kid as Ardy secured deal on WFAN. I think I think that's the word going around. We might have to just lower his voice a couple actives because it sounds like a chipmunk, and that's not me bashing a small child. He's got incredible knowledge. Just my dogs have now run away from my house never to be seen again because of the pitch of that kid's voice. Yeah. He's happy. The didn't go after him a lot of people speaking out about the fact that they're okay with their team not being willing to go ten years three hundred million for a guy, especially guy like I said who said hustling ain't his Cup of tea, but this could be a massive deal for the Padres. And coming up next. We're going to talk to Richard Justice, MLB dot com. Correspondent to see what can be expected to the Padres. Now that they've added Machado. "So that's that's my take on that. But I do agree that it's teams that their progress has been stalled how voters are going to die in the next. I wonder if the new transparency in the voting is going to make people intimidated to vote for somebody who. Clearly a steroid use. I think because in the balance that are made public those guys were doing well. I mean right at four lines seventy seventy percent of the vote. It's it's the it's the people that don't reveal their votes that tend to be older don't know what the internet is all of those things they lose about twenty points. When those are now, the, you know, there's a certain feeling of morality that. If a sacred place, blah, blah, blah, all that stuff. It's it's a it's a problem. You know, and I think it's going to be with us forever. You know, because if you're going to get the ballot in your hand, you're going to say, okay. I think this guy did this guy didn't this. I mean. Wow. All right. Can you imagine that I think you just put it on the plaques I hall of fame without Pete Rose without Roger Clemens and without Barry Bonds has left out three of the twenty greatest players of all time. If just left them out, I agree. I don't get that Johnny here on this. What is the hold up with Machado and Harper N does one control the other in the sense is is somebody waiting for one of them to be signed. Is there a priority there, and then the other get signed? Well, I think there is a one up some ship with both of them. And I think in the case of Harper. His agent. Scott Boras wants to sit records many wants four hundred million. And I just think teams are reluctant to do that. I think the dodgers would be happy to go five years six years, and you could just they almost name the dollar figure, but seven of the ten years for twenty six year old, and I going to do it one of things analytics is done is you don't pay big money for age thirty one thirty two season. I was with the. Baseball's determine the your pre cure when you twenty seven ironically, the same thing in in felt age twenty seven so if you're going to give a guy big money when he's turning thirty one or thirty two it's not gonna happen in terms of Matata. I think it's been a little bit harder for him to find. I think the Yankees wanted him, but they weren't in love with him. And they weren't gonna go ten eleven twenty years. They weren't going to do that. And so now do you wanna play for the White Sox? You can get the seven years there. I just think they're neither the the neither one of them is going to get ten years. And I think it's a struggle for them to accept what what's out there. I think Harper ends up with the Vilis and Machado with the White Sox. But that that prediction has an expiration day because until they don't sign with the dodgers and the Yankees the dodgers. And the Yankees will always be in the conversation. Thank you. I'm not saying he should because look you you should do what you love. But I think he's also has the internal conflict. You read all about concussions. You read all about, you know, NFL players who when they hit their forties. Are you have difficulty walking because of the punishment that they've endured?
