"Summer getting into a nice Into an ice floe sounds great. Thanks for having me talk to you soon. Nick tammaro n. t. a. m. m. one two one five and tam one two one five. We've got about a half an hour actually get less than half an hour. I'm just looking up and We got twenty something minutes and we'll spend Part of it. With steve anderson who's Gonna join us Here soon as he raises them and then will close out with a couple of opinions from popoff on forum to win and Been been leaning on form to win particularly at saratoga with the With the kind of these claiming groups that had come together from from different avenues. I'll tell you one thing when it comes to those when it comes to the mile and an eighth race speed is just it it. Of course it didn't help yesterday that nobody went Really other than the winner but And it looked like a race where you had. We did have horses that we're going to contend up front but Boy don't don't go. Don't go looking for deep closers The mile and an eighth Saratoga speed speed and more speed Turning to Del mar again. We had a little hammer in our two. We had christina as well christine Blacker and i had to correct. I i i made the mistake of putting up that Thoroughbred industry Employees award link using my my cell and it. It auto corrected. T. to t. i. e. s. two ties So i had to correct it so take a note and change. The i mean you would think that's about as easy a addresses you could find. Ti dot org. Steve anderson joins us from the daily racing form for his first missives from old del. Mar and steve good morning. Hi good morning. Steve quick recap of The first three days before we look ahead to this week well it was very. It was a very interesting week. I mean express. Train was nice to win the san diego handicap last last Saturday in what turns out to be a prep for what should be a competitive running of the civic classics on august. Twenty first meetings top rate school. The worst is so there's some there's some lack of definition and the older male division in california so expect to be part of the picture and i think they'll be some shippers from out of town to that might Took advantage of Good prize money. So that was one of the highlights of the opening weekend. I'd say There was nice to see human beings at the races. I can tell you that. Right away at del mar after a very quiet. Two thousand twenty between the pretty good racing and And you know a bit of atmosphere was It was nice to get back over there. the what are the things will touch on are the The two year olds and Feels like this is going to be an important weekend. Any thoughts about What what we saw from the babies. I did note the todd fisher Taking advantage of the of the ship in and win concept coming in with a a two year old. Who got a nice enough. I think seventy eight buyer for that For that debut witter smashed. Ticket is the name of the philly that taught fincher trains. He brought a small number courses that he had had based at lone star park about earlier this spring and summer and That horse qualified for the the shipping bonus as well so that it actually worked out to being basically a growth one hundred three thousand dollar raise. They picked up about sixty five. Seventy thousand dollars. They're nice with their win. Yeah it really is a big deal. Strictly the home breath for his clients and That was a nice winner. Should probably go for the debutante Which is on september. Five sunday the final weekend of the season so that looks like a affiliate to follow in a undefined division. Of course check it's only july twenty third There's a nice two year old filly maiden again Maiden race over five and a half furlongs on saturday There's several first-time starters by camera trained by richard. Baltimore is well. Regarded baffert has mirasol. Who didn't draw so well on the rail but is a well regarded silly with gas works and mike smith aboard. Also dance to the music Trained by mark ladder of five hundred. Seventy five thousand dollar purchasing ocala back in april is drawn very well out in post six. So that's a big race on. That's a big race and won't tomorrow on saturday and then on sunday there's a two year old maiden open race which is interesting because they had the same race offered last weekend and it did not fill so now finally a two year old race You know of course. This is one that's got most only males in it and it is the second race on the program. It also has drawn a very interesting field. Baffert has three runners including Carbonated was disappointing. Third at Los on june twenty seven and two first-time starters in barrosa By into mischief and the street sense colt colt murray. That was three hundred thousand dollar yearly. barrosa was a seven hundred. Seventy five thousand dollars yearling so Big petting big pedigrees on some first-time starters and that'll be interesting. I'm and see also drink the wind a fast working originally buy by more than ready. Trained by peter miller again. It's called drink. The wind that horses looks promising from post to from a speed point of view. So wait and see how some of these two year olds perform this weekend and start to fill out the probables list for the great one races on september. Five and six not far off really when you think about it but Kind of get these runners going if they're going to do anything well speaking of Some horses that Are going to target things. I saw a couple of directions. For a shockingly impressive geno generally Over the weekend. And you talked to this about going to the pat o'brien with him. And i thought what makes sammy run. I was really looking forward to the ocean side with him. And i imagine glad was disappointed and He's gonna turn him back a little bit At kentucky downs talk about some of the some of the other features and the fallout well flashy up to one the oceanside stakes which is restricted states for three-year-olds basically for non non stakes winners over the course of the year. So the race that you know develops a three-year-old. A little bit is very promising. Horse trained by leonard powell who is considering the the local races here notably the del mar derby on september fourth and Also considering going to saratoga in a few weeks but they're big derby at a mile three sixteenths when that seems a bit ambitious but you never know what brands going to send over somebody else from europe because chances are they're not gonna let that go out without them and i think that's a big assignment for this young flash who only had two sticks of you in the ocean side whereas the del mar derby on september. Four th. there's a mile in eighth and it's gonna be a tough race to re trainer. John sadler alone as three candidates for the del mar derby and rock your world. Who won the santa needed derby Sort zoro who's sticks sanity able and also Crew dragon the next month or that ran a very good second to last just in the ocean side. So that's just part of it and we still there's still a has a nice groupie set Does your the on kentucky derby day and also Hudson who the stakes winner the three year old colt turf division three old males turf division california is is a promise you a group of very nice young runners. I think they're very good A little better than their counterparts life. Rod charlie so walked away and see how that plays.

"The group in the in the turf classic i when i made a pick three play last night. Nick oh i found myself having to use master of fox hounds dangerous. Yeah it's it's you know the problem. I have with horses. Like this is stretching to enforce forces out especially euro types that come over is generally a white flag on on more classic distances in my opinion generally but there are a lot of rules like that that have been broken consistently over the last few years. And so i probably shouldn't take too much of a hard line approach with that Because it's a horse who's clearly improved throughout his time with richard baltimore and You know guys like baltics and sadler d'amato having strings in kentucky has definitely made them a lot more proficient when it comes to these kinds of cards and it used to be that you know people that looked at east coast racing ladder midwest turf racing dismissive of west coast sources. And and. that's just not the case anymore and in part because these guys just aren't exclusively west coast trainers so i i love count again and i've been looking sort this race for quite some time I would not make an argument against anybody who wants to believe that smooth like straight could potentially wire field i think colonel liam is overrated. I is generally my opinion Colonel em actually has a lot of the the same characteristics of a horse. Like max field. The differences that max yield is facing basically the same type of forces. He's been beating over and over currently in facing significantly better horses than he's run against in his last two starts and you can put a label on the pegasus race and and act like it's one of the greatest races of all time because that's how it's marketed by. It's not right it's january turf race and and it's january turf rates where most of the turf war good tur- forces in this country are on the shelf. So he beat up what lined up He did so with an excellent trip. He faced a very very weak field at fairgrounds domestic spending account again. We'd like straight these are real forces. These are these are good. Good tur- for so. I was actually hoping kufo would be in this race to but i've is a very good horse Digital age is a very talented horse ride. A comet has gotten very good now in the last six months or so so this looks to me like a really tough spot in that respect. I don't love way. The race is going to set up so count against purposes because it does look like smooth like straight will dictate terms on the front end but he just ran so well in the into the teeth of extremely slow pace. I have to take him at. What will probably be better distance for him when push comes to shove with jockey. That's likely to get him a little bit more involved early. And i'm i'm not saying that science should really push him to go forward but he should definitely be closer to the pace and that might really be all it takes. Because he's going to be. He closes with that same kind of i mean he. He's going to be. You're going to be heard from the stretch. Gets us for some final derby thoughts and nick We we talked similarly yesterday. There's of coverage on on the two day ticket known agenda. Medina's spirit hot rod charlie midnight bourbon dynamic one and essential quality and. I'm pretty much in that same mindset. What i'd love for you to do. We got time because it looks like sativa is tied up in in a meeting and duke do so unfortunately no duke and no sedation It will wrap up with with. Just the dave greenwich. You're right at the end of the show. What i'd love for you to do is explain to people how they build a cost effective. Let's say maybe derby try or or derby try actually probably good for for fifty cents to meet to show people how to approach this using the horses. You like. Yeah i mean it depends on on your opinion first of all. But i've always as i go. I mean i'm i'm i'm a wheel guy. I'm not a somebody who make fox's i just. I don't think you can be effective long-term in terms of hitting tracked boxes And make money doing that. So what i generally have done in derby and had some success over time. He's take a price source key. Them in the tri sector with the logical horses. So you know the ones that i laid out yesterday. That that i think have wind chances alexei amongst those you like dynamic one best you horse dynamic one and you play try. That looks something like eleven with one. Eight nine ten fourteen with you. I'm not a big proponent of using all in the derby because.

"With steve big horse racing handicapping interviews. This is really stupid. Very good thursday race ban serious to nineteen exempt to a one sports. Nine sixty four feet listening to sirius. Xm online sports and at our website to the dot com. I i'm pausing. Because i literally thought i was going to sneeze the second that kc through the switch. I still got to pick up the morning where we left off a little bit yesterday and The to a late breaking stories as mentioned the greatest honor issue that is going to make make the top end of the derby. Hit list a little theater. That obviously he's got its ramifications not the least of which opening the door for somebody down further down The point list Very very disappointed For the atoms and particularly. I made that mentioned immediately shook as one himself derby and this really felt like a great opportunity. Even if you know even if you thought that greatest honor wasn't going to be fast enough for derby but the atoms of put tremendous amount into the game and in the meantime they do have a multiple graded stakes three year old winter. And he'll be he'll be back at this is You know one of those one of those things that we get on a regular basis and You hope it's the last issue of that kind really and It's it's nothing major other than You know the turnout and a little. You know a little freshening. So greatest honor has the season placed on On hold we'll talk about the the opportunity that it affords on a wider basis In in a minute. When i talk about the lexington field because there's some funny things going on On that front and of course the focus has been the last couple of days since we had the early. Draw for the arkansas derby. That's the the big point bonanza with the one hundred forty twenty and ten and the participants their concert tour hosier and number river and superstock. I mean among the those are the five of the of the sex. You've got last. Samurai taking a swing from the heels But the inclusion of some horses in that field for the lexington and some names that we knew that for instance that proxy and and unbridled honor were showing up and there were a couple of of interesting additions including visas baffert sending be so since a right away people. Were you know a buzz It would be. I be sosa's not the even with a big effort. I mean at twenty points is not going to put you right in the in the body of of the derby field however there are some horses that turned up in here most notably hockey dad and doug. O'neill this is. This is an interesting participant. Going back to the dirt and you did win an allowance at santa anita on the dirt going six back in february. Don't forget that game against cal breads but this is. This is a calibrate with a little something extra to paul rhythm home. Read by nyquist and dad ran well enough in the ruby to be third and that got him twenty points and so a a win by hockey dead absolutely puts him in the derby and even a second and eight points. Twenty eight is going to be knocking on the door. Depending on what everybody else you know the some of the ones that are unsure about participation. So that was a notable hockey dad was a notable participant joining in here The rest of that lexington field and it's a fun race richard. Baltimore has got that maiden winter From the beginning of march noble reflection the liam's map and swiftsure turns up in here who for to going back to november and january. Forgotten about this source. Frankly santa farms home-bred that Asmussen equines involved in so swift shore. These osas mentioned off the maiden win. The improvement still got gotta get faster but certainly came back and zipped nicely out of that win a fifty eight and four workout. The other day drayton dyke gets aboard. rat or teased by the way Aboard swift shore and have your castellano for noble reflection. It's my house who was sitting with one point It's my house bob. S out of that turf paradise win and this was a late nominee to the triple crown So you know. Chances are his participation here a prep for preakness unbridled honor. Todd pletcher told you here last week that the this is a a preakness concept five points. For the honor code mandy pope home-bred coming out of a a not terrible forth in the tampa bay derby you got leper peru writing back Mario gutierrez and hockey dad for doug o'neill as mentioned johnny v and proxy And this is. Strictly a speculative inclusion steadham said no decision on proxy for derby Until after this race. He's already if he wants to. Participate already can so. This is a an evaluative effort You would think if he runs great. He runs in the derby if he runs. Good here you'd think they might wait for preakness with him. Ultimate badger for dale romans and Jim becky and jerry is mr. I did notice that i saw baqi. I saw jim back. He's got a horse with the think with pleasure somewhere else that caught my eye but ultimate badger and corey landry Good second in the hutchison stretches back out so had wondered allowance. Churchill go to mile and a sixteenth as a two year old so ultimate badger commissioner colt. Who's okay might. Just be a steady developer king fury. Ken mcpeek making the three-year-old seasonal debut. Getting going here for circle three chimneys. This was the nine hundred and fifty thousand dollars. Saratoga you'll recall that Wanted i asking one the street sense. you know kind of ran around the track in the breeders cup and popped and stopped in the kentucky jockey club and then starring in my dreams dowa stewart and actually ran okay in the louisiana derby and had a career best fig and lewis iras aboard brian hernandez junior sticks with king fury by the way and started in my dreams draws the outside it seems like starting to my dreams either draws the rail or the widest post. He's he's five extremes. So there's your there's your derby picture with just the two races. Saturday left to determine The point standings. And you know the you know the situation that has got a few courses. Like as mentioned proxy rob our sainthood all pending crowded trade seemingly headed to preakness Way burn is on the list. The revised list that darren rogers put out yesterday afternoon after the greatest honor news and i also told you that rebel romance the godolphin. Uae darby winner is destined for belmont. So those two came off and so right away forces that were sitting you know twenty one and twenty two moved up and there's still room for more move up. I keep. I keep drawing the line below obese. Ohs frankly i think that he's actually the The bottom marker right now and jose technically as your might even be as well so we'll know everything we need to know.

"This wins at a mile I like his other one little bit. Frost me Coming out of two hall coming off a nice win cut them. But i think the leading rider there and Ray handle source the sixers irish constitution. coming out coming up with a little bit of a break. All modesty bread raised got beat a neck. They're going seven eight So i like those too frustrating and irish constitution and then at santa anita the point of this Another matched now this. This category heard me for years. This is if they win. One of these two. Toss them because they're not gonna win another one. I mean probably two years with with not the single one horse winning two of the of the philly mirror races and and Johnny wong came along with Keeper stars last year and now mute moot show unusual has won two in a row. Winning frankel and the megahertz and She's going to be tough defeating here. let's say that but We're looking for a little bit of a price going to vegas out of the richard baltimore. Who is super tough in turf stakes out in california red lark. I know both of your sources dropping back in distance to the mile. You're gonna get a decent price on red large. She's a she's a great one winter few racist back and then a little bit of a price from up north. Manny padilla source Sloan garden Golden gate type force and number down here and It's a wide open match so Some good races there. You know. I looked at the saudi rates. And you know i i. I felt bad. That i'm not really that interested in it but I don't think a whole lot of people are i would. I'm gonna box is a box of japanese source. Chew a wizard John gosden source global giant. And then the to speed balls from here Charlotte in mexico and and take a shot. If i get that. But that's that's who i came up with for and Funded gulu handicapping at home and playing some of the derby wars contest just to keep a little fresh but It's all good and Really looking forward to get back into into action here in.

"A little bit about that car. But the fairgrounds card is huge. And that'll be certainly a topic of our discussion coming up on on mondays. Recap show little sunshine. Millions day out at gulfstream park and of course the calcutt day and sort of sunshine stay. There's a couple there's like one raisin southern california that still under the sunshine millions banner but the the unusual heat turf classic one of One of many on a pretty decent card at santa anita this saturday so looking forward to watching that really excited to see The number six north country guy in this race for richard baltimore. Baltimore is off to a really cold. Start from a win percentage But he has ten second place finishes from thirty four starts. And you know to me. You know seasonal numbers and stuff like that. of course they're going to happen flow a little bit right like you're not gonna always be hot and this goes for our betting as well. I mean the. There's there's cold times there's hot times there's average times and you know i think a lot of people would maybe be apt to think about this is really co but in reality you know if three of those ten second place finishes turn into wins. I mean if some of them are just you know narrow head losses and they they go the other way then all of a sudden he's seventeen percent and nobody's talking about him being cold and so i. I don't look at it as a cold barn thing. I do think this horse is ripe for a performance. Coming off of running in the hollywood turf cup delmira's a mile and a half. I think the distance was probably a little more that he wanted. Some of the mild three eighths races he would make the lead and midstretch including the del mar handicap where he got close to making lead and would then get reeled in by red king. I mean those horses have just better than what. He's going to face today on saturday so i really think that one has kind of big shot. That was one particular horse that stood out to me very excited to see how the calcutta replays out. Because down on the rail you have an eight to five shot. Chosen veron for eric cruel. Jack was four for seven to kick off the santa anita. Meet obviously off to a fast start. This horse is almost like two prototypical for 'cause we see the situation come up a lot. Throughout the horse racing year sprint debut goes right to the front opens up big monster win ninety four at speed figure which you know for the most part towers over everybody else in the race You know good with people that number four horse put up a ninety two also going wire-to-wire and the reason i bring it up is because it's just you know you're going to have these times where debut big figure winners comeback. I mean that was against maidens and against state bread maids which is still against eight bread. So it's not like it's a crazy jump up in class but it is a jump up a class it's running it's winners and it's all these things that are not easy for a horse to overcome and.

"You know berko found a way to snatch defeat from the jaws victory to back at saratoga when myself and plenty of other people needed him Freedom whiskey came up the inside and beat him at forty some onto one and then he came back and ran kind of a dull refined vinik each most of jimmy. Johns barn underperformed at belmont. They haven't really gotten going back up. So you want to be careful with all of these horses but at the same time you have to acknowledge that this source with his best efforts is just going to beat this field. I would say that if you're if you can afford it you want to include horse like spiritual king who's gonna be ridden aggressively from the outside. There's other speed but this is fast. And if barry peterson doesn't ask just in time for wine for speed out of the gate. I could see spiritual king having a very good trip. forward replaced. I think you probably have to include bielfeld who moved aggressively and early to back Faltered a little bit late but again it's a horse with some of his best efforts who can be competitive here as far as churchill goes. I really like these two races. They have in the the cross country sequence tomorrow the seventy six furlong race for fillies and mares optional. Claiming started allowance type. And you know i i. I'm always a little bit hesitant when it comes to backing a ten pound bugs but i think parking ticket had some things going for. She really had no shot with a trip. Last time ended up wide Didn't really make much of a late run. That was a day where you needed to be inside as you get most of those first few days of churchill in this fall me to back she ran a very good race to get up in time against similar keeneland. I think you're gonna get an inflated price on this where she was fired to one. Last time i think price is going to drift north of ten to one. And i definitely want to find a way you include her. I think you have to use. Just fly off the claim who's in very good form. Kissel is obviously dangerous. It looks like there could be a pace in here which means you probably want to consider cold into hair. Don't love cleaning tommy. But this is another horse very good form. Who really if she just duplicates her last race can win and go into that anchor. Leg of the sequence has a terrific race. And i like a couple of horses that are going to be good prices. I'm gonna use finite very well in the raven run. I think that one turn mile might ultimately be what she's absolutely perfect at distance wise. But i can't ignore whoa nelly and the too good races that will ellie ran at oaklawn earlier this year when taxi should have won the by a caller but joe rocco was just a little too aggressive in worrying about the front runners and gogel yourself ended up getting her late but i encourage anybody to give seminars on the outside of very very long look. This is a horse who was close to an extremely fast paced last time. Look through the chart and see where the horses that were placed in that race ended up finishing finishing and one of them was talked to me. So it's not as if there were a couple of big long shots that were setting that pace that ended up tiring late. Talk to me was basically the favorites as she was part of a couple of entry with gold standard to nina's was in there battling the entire way she was jammed inside ended up making a split midstretch it was race to completely collapsed so it had a huge outside flow to it and the want you finishers ended up coming from around the outside. They were last the next last down the backstretch. This is the epitome of a pace. Play that i wanna make. This is going to get a good trip stocking outside. I don't think the pace will be anything near what it was in that race. I think you've got risky. Mandate maybe and crazy sexy money will show some speed. But i could see some nina's getting an excellent trip from out there and i think she should be every every bit of fifteen to one or so and that spices up to sequence quite a bit and you know i. I touched on the presence. I mean. just the fact that Mccarthy it's very interesting what's happened in kentucky. In fact i you and i talked about it or if who had came up with A while back this of of california horsemen. Have you know kind of made things interesting. And then i. I mentioned this to marty. You know with the you know the horses the bill. Motte has got in kentucky and then chad brown sources in kentucky. It's really made for you. Know some some interesting malaj of horseflesh in these spots. It really has and i wondered who is conditioning. Some of these sources including that. Nice that nights richard baltimore sources name escapes me right now. It's a very short name like icon or or something like idol Who want to who want to one other than a couple of weeks ago. He broke his maiden in september. After debuting i believe on dirty day. Derby day on oaks day and you wanna mile and three sixteenths race and i think the clark might be a little tough but you know that's of course. I think who you could see in stakes races. If he ends up relocating to california. And yeah i i think the biggest surprise was all of it is that they've stayed. You know these sort. It's no surprise that these came over. In the spring you know in santa anita was getting towards the latter part of their meat. And then you've got the loselle portion of southern california racing. But yeah i mean. They're all there and unique factors and other examples. She's been in the midwest the entire season so mccarthy obviously has left the nina's churchill she's been training consistently i would guess with an eye on this subject Maybe a horse that they're looking forward to continuing to try around one turn. Maybe see if she can get some graded black kites and the to. Lucy was often a race where i remember in two thousand seventeen. I was churchill watching the breeders cup and it was a race where like six horses that ran in. It were entered in the sale because it was run on on breeders cup weekend but of course sales now happened. There are additional ones coming up. But i see this horse a really excelling..

"So here we are at the urine stool in Geneva and we are speaking about the twenty thousand International Meeting of Mine Action National Directors and United Nations advisors so basically basically unmastered say the United Nations Mine Action Service in addition to Sarah Jerry. He's a researcher. From King's College in London has been looking at research approach into on the link between climate change and vulnerable populations affected by unexploded ordinance stuck in the ground and elsewhere. Welcome everybody body. I'm going to just dive in quickly. Going to Richard Baltimore's Program Manager for South Sudan with unmasks wretched. Tell me the main thrust of the meeting being here at the United Nations in Geneva what you can to achieve this week well simply putting the importance of mine action back on the map. Reminding people there's a problem exists exists around the world that is being addressed but it needs constant support to keep his going a mine-free world is achievable. We simply need to keep doing what we're doing. Just talk me through what the process. Who says you go into a community in south Sudan? Can you give me a particular example of an area is cleared recently. How you've held community? We're helping hundreds of communities Aziz every single day we're going into villages where mines were laid possibly thirty or forty years ago wet forests have grown up around them. People wonder into those forests in search of natural resources to cut wood together the forest vegetables and plan selves up working to render the ground safe and the the the reality is the poorest of the poor go into minefields knowing they all taking a risk. Studying Cambodia showed eighty five percent of mine victims victims. New they're in a minefield at the time. They had their accident but they also knew they were going to be hungry at night. So they take the wrist to go and get it and not not. de-mining is not an option. People will still take the risk and go into the minefields. We need clear those minds to make the land safe. Just start with a level playing field being out to grow awesome food. It is astonishing it comes down to having to live from day to day and Edwin fake money. If I can come to you know you were in Cambodia. Do you share richards. Experience experience. There is that what you were finding radio program officer unless now but you were working for a long time with U. N. D. P. The UN Development Program. Yes you actually see that people take risks risks. When they're hungry they will try to the forest to find food if they have piece of land contaminated? They will try to farm it so that they can grow the rice. It's basically subsistence isn't farming for everything there. And if they contact us the land and they will take measures to go in and see if they can actually get food. What's your message to the conference? Is this week. There is a need for us to address this theory's hope for example specifically for Kamalia. Two hundred twenty five is a goal for them. It can be achieved there to clear. All of known remaining landmines by twenty twenty-five how many we talking about. It's there still about nine hundred square kilometers of land mines but it was like a lot. I mean look look and you say twenty. twenty-five it is a lot but the government has actually committed themselves. You know Wait I left Komodo last year. They committed themselves that they will give ten percents counterpart funding to any international funds. Subtle coming for Mine Action and you be assumed that in the sense that last year we got ten percent of those about about two hundred thousand dollars last year from the Komo government which is a first big step for them taking responsibility for the problem that they have so there is progress and hopefully by two thousand twenty five and quickly back to Richard. You said that South Sudan continues to be contaminated by mines laid out decades ago but their goal is twenty twenty. He's seven four title Clearance Twenty Twenty Six if the current peace can hold if we can get access to all areas then. It's reasonable with current levels of funding as long as that maintained that we we will complete clearance by Twenty Twenty Six but ordinance will continue to appear for decades. There is still ordinance turning up across Western Europe that was fought over a hundred two years ago. Being ploughed up in the fields of Belgium reality of any conflict affected country but in the short term you need sustained funding to help South Sudan Dan. As many other countries need to decontaminate. You cannot come quickly to use Aruna Jerry from King's College London research only be looking at the link between climate the change and unexploded ordinance or nine months contamination. Can you tell me a bit about what you felt. I've been looking specifically at the conflict context. I've been looking at mine. Action in how they interrelate from post conflict peacebuilding framework and the climate. He's something that I've come into recently looking at how that is adding the levels. Abelson wonder ability because I was in Angola in September doing some work where they went national saint for Humanitarian De Mining on a research project. Nick and what we saw there was that once fields are cleared that the farmers there are grateful because clear and provide quite a lot of land. And what they're doing is resorting to the cotton slash methods of cultivation now. What that does the environment is? Just at the the time the fires in the Amazon on but in Angola there was second highest fires when the satellite team. It is dance so while we can clear and and the farmers were saying yes but the drought has impacted so yes. The farm has been returned to the farmers. But there are other you know beyond the mine in action and my take into that is can we incorporate as a sector. Can we bringing other lessons for these people when we out there with them saying once we've cleared the farm may be a certain sense of responsibility in the ways. We cultivate and all so integrating being innovative in our practice to dealing with communities to reduce their ability interesting. So what you're calling for really is for broader approach to helping communities once the areas made safe. So I don't know maybe I could turn to you. Seddon Threat Mitigation Officer with the Mine Action Service so he didn't a lot of work into be at the moment. I don't know how house access you have there. Because we've had talks recently here in Geneva for ongoing between opposing parties fighting outside Tripoli to the South how are you UH helping communities get safer and be free of this sort of scourge that must induce mentality among populations yes. There are two real issues to addressed. ICED firstly is that Libya has the world's largest uncontrolled ammunition stop palm. It is estimated that there were between one hundred fifty thousand two hundred thousand tonnes of uncontrolled control munitions across Libya. Also what we've seen recently in the fighting which broke out in southern Tripoli in April of last year is the expenditure ordinance and the threat posed by explosive remnants of war as increased and sadly many of the areas that were previously cleared of you exit have now been reconsolidated as a result. The current fighting some specific concerns that we've got amendment relates to some of the more complex munitions that The Libyan's require assistance to dispose off. And the previous Qaddafi regime for example bolts some quite complex missile systems that use talks ick propellants and these toxic propellants pose a very considerable threat to the environment went and also to the Libyan people which live close proximity to their storage depots so one of the projects that are mass. Lear initiated with support from the German government his to safely dispose of some of these very hazardous liquid propellants in Libya. Thank you Bob for that. Now I'm going to turn to leave because you're the Global Communications Honcho Four. Unless you could tell me how many countries on Mrs Operating in I'm what stays sort of information sharing between those officers who are involved in making community safe and and maybe what are the new ways that we using computers not officially intelligence to help us improve decontamination. Everywhere yeah the United Nations by action service we of nineteen programs in countries and territories around the world the UN as a whole is a little bit over thirty so the UN is. We're mine action. United Nations mine. Action has the Inter Agency Coordination Group for Mine Action which we helped to service and facilitate and that's really is an information exchange so and this meeting that we're at this week in Geneva Leyva where we have the national directors from all over the world from every mine affected country. I'm comes in. That's a big part of it is to share lessons learned best practices and the technology which is very important specifically with with improvised explosive devices. I mean we've been working for years in Afghanistan. We've seen a lot of devices that were used in Afghanistan that show up in other conflict zones specifically today's in Somalia we've seen stuff in Iraq. There's an innovation there. There's obviously on the dark web. People have access to figure out WHO's building. What and how are they building yet? What type of charges etc.? So you have to stay alert and you have to be following that. Obviously that's not something terribly new military out there in the world The United Nations. We don't don't particularly do intelligence service things but we are starting a database now in order to try to bring in academics and the governments that want to share that information in order that we make our people on the ground safer so that people would have some type of place to go to look at the type of devices I see they can do photos of directly and put it up in this database and then people can look at it from other parts of the world and say immediately. I've seen that. Don't touch that wire. I mean if you WanNa get it simple or this is probably how it is or the or the charter is going to be. You know. Two hundred meters. There's away or is that kind of thing and somebody mentioned earlier today when we were speaking about infrared Is that you know the technologies that exist out there. They are extremely deadly. It's a little bit different than a landmine. I'm where you're just using a metal detector and you're going along and something beeps and you're saying okay is that you know a pop top or is that something more dangerous when you deal with. ID's there three hundred sixty degrees so you don't know where they are And I mean there was just an attack recently in Afghanistan for example where somebody stuck a charge on the top of the roof of a car which killed the UN employees it was UNDP and that's an example of something which smit this new database that's going to be soft launch today at this is meeting with look into. So what specs do you need for your car roofs when the UN by vehicles because that's obviously a weakness right when a car sitting in traffic and somebody puts a bomb on the roof of of it and nobody thought about that but there are ways to know if there's devices on a car magnetic sensors that tell you. Something's been added this car and that's the kind of stuff that we need to know. The the United Nations need in order to keep all personnel. And all NGOs safe. It is frightening..
23rd International Meeting of National Mine Action
You could be totally paranoid radio studio. They want to step foot outside. Because it's you know I've read the English patient I've read the some of the mindset of somebody who's laying mines encounters and things. I think my goodness this is just extraordinarily frightening writing and terrifying. And I'm Bob you're saying earlier the the threat of mines is not going away. Sadly the very effective asymmetric form of Attack Jack and the effectiveness of the ID as technology level is now very much understood by. The extremists are employing days. I mean sadly that knowledge is now the Leah's mentioned the information is disseminated now across the Internet. It is relatively easy now for people with no previous experience or training to acquire The knowledge from the web to make homemade explosives and to build quite sophisticated audience systems from scratch. You know with any external intervention. So so you're suggesting earlier Bob that it's not just a question of getting the minds out of the ground. It's a broader approach. Can you maybe explain what that means. Yes certainly insufficient really just to deal with the the explosive threat itself itself when one considers the threat posed by ideas. You really look at the the. ID system so it requires an effective whole of government approach. And that's very much based on not just the entity that's dealing with the explosive straight itself. But you got to look at the forensic organization that recovers evidence the analysis of that of the good police squirt this required to identify locate arrest and then process the perpetrators through the judicial system and Libya. This is happening. It is happening. Actually the The Mass Libya team has worked quite closely with Libyan authorities. And we've been trying to develop the forensic skills of the Criminal Investigation Department such that the Libyan police. I can do this themselves. Thank you very much. I think we've pretty much come to the end of this discussion very brief Look at what your and Mine Action Service is doing. It's been a delight to have you here but I'd love often any final messages or thoughts that you have before you plunge back into the dark recesses of the UN Pele here in Geneva and share information which is obviously why you're here simply that clearing clearing the wolves. Lamont problem is achievable. It's very very achievable. I started de-mining in nineteen ninety-three when the world talked about it being a thousand year problem problem now it down to single digits of years with realistic assessments. Credible Clarence methods. We're winning this fight. Unfortunately the fighters moved on on the problem is not being replaced by problem. The crux of this issue is ending grievances. If people want to find a way to kill each other's they will do so but in those countries where the wounds have healed such as Cambodia. We can go on and complete the Job Sarah Jerry Richard. Bulte Bob Seddon ugly really would yeah. Many things

This is the real deal but Meeshan harbor is all by herself as she scrolls home in the last virgin has plenty of promise here as Venetian harbour. Completely dominates geared down wins by nine empathetic links so Venetian harbour. I should correct frankie. It was nine and a quarter emphatically. It's so fun to try to. That's one of the joys of announcing his trying to guess the big margins because I know and I don't know that frank does this but I know a lot of us ego maniacs. Do when we get you know you runs straight down to the placing hey. Hey rich was at margin there. And he's like. Oh twelve and three quarters. Oh Goddess at ten. It was way more so being off by quarter Frank. We're going to give you a plus on that one. It's pretty good. I think Peter Berry one time guest fifty links. It was it was. It was a horse that used to win the marathon mound nearby. Meyler forget the worst name but Peter said fifty. I think the margin was forty nine and three quarters that might go down as the all time margin call. I realized you know after really after fifteen or twenty. It's you're just you're hoping to get to the nearest five. I think in the original secretary called and he say twenty five links and it was thirty one. I mean I don't know how you first of all you don't have much much practice because very few horses win by that margin but it's funny I in to the naked eye the margin sometimes when it's a big gap looks way different in person than it does on TV. Like there's been times where I'll call a wins it by five on TV. I'm like God. It looks like eight and then the margin is seven or eight and so a little bit tricky sometimes. But we're going to get Frankie and eight plus on that one because nine to nine quarters pretty damn close and this was awesome but it was neat to watch Richard Baltimore in the post race interview with Peter Laurie Talking. I mean you could tell he was he was pretty Daf Act with the effort and you know broke like a shot and was going pretty quickly and that's one of the things I wanNA talk. I was sitting with John Lindow when this race was often. So that's part of the reason I wanted to talk with him. He had talked about the track. Did dug it up a little bit in the morning and it was a little more deep and tiring and and all that. What have you and come home time? Wasn't it crazy? But it was solid enough. After going the DC early fractions and boy she was just full running. Just you know we talk about with young horses with every horse for the most part but the eye test and boy. This is a test that was well past because the source looked like a million bucks going down the Lane. I HAVE TO IMAGINE. The connections are very excited. Stellar sound took a little bit of a run toward the term and tried to get close but I mean flopping was just sitting on a rocket ship and very little doubt from the top of the stretch home the thunder road stakes the other feature on Saturday at Santa Anita and favoritism in this spot going to frontier market was coming over from Ecuador. He's a perfect two for two broke his meeting waiting on six and a half then he was able to eke one out when the blinkers went on stretched out in the low south. futurity alternated on lead for the better part of that great to event and I was able to get the money He alternated on lead. What his stablemate high velocity was backing? Here he gets a big upset. Upgrades Rider Weiss Joel. Rosario talk about Baffin earlier. This week you'll hear from Bob had plenty to say about thousand words also plenty to say about high velocity. You know what after the interview. Bob I mean high velocity my top pick. I think African when the race one of them's GonNa win When you look at the rest of the field in coders trying dirt for the first? This time from the rail. He's a three time winner to minor stakes on the turf. John Sadler Mike. Smith's GONNA ride That's the one three. Tis A magician took him six starts starts to break his maiden he's got four second-place finishes among those six tries that serves those courses are never for me. Royal Act to over to Iran's Times both times on Turf you won his maiden that he ran into any logo behind and colder blinkers go on son of American Pharaoh. Eighteen have more success on turf in the desert. But he'll try the mean track and excuse me to six Zimba Warrior who was third in the sham. Third in the Bob Hope. Hope behind high-velocity in other words. He's a check getter but he's one for six four thirds in his career. So it's down the Bob Baffert to I'll take high velocity you. You should be on the lead. He gets the right up raid to Joel Rosario on Equality Road Dixie Union. I got an issue. You could argue. This probably has more top and bottom pedigree go along than thousand words. Does I would think that pomeroy might kick in eventually but really tough to separate the two. I'll just try. And get high velocity home getting back to Santa Anita where he wrote his meat and maybe that long stretch was better suited Loselle four thousand words than it was for high velocity. Maybe wire comes in time for high-velocity there the two I think of the three races will see this weekend end. This'll be this has the chance of being the most formal Because in that's more in part to the competition listen. I think it'd be really hard for me to make a case for any of the other than you had five a better case For a handful of the horses in the weather's two or three of the horses in the Holy Bull as opposed to him he are Bob Baffert should win another Bob Lewis. I think it'll be with high velocity of not it'll be one thousand words it goes racists the great three Robert B Lewis race number seven grade to San Marcos Mile. A QUARTER ON TURF. You can scratch the number six this campaign. The number six campaigns early Scratch Hill. Come out. He won't allow play so it leaves us with just a field of six at a tough time with this race United's in here united. It was a great second of my boy. Bricks and mortar horse of the year. Bricks and mortar by the way But you know what he came back into Hollywood Turf Cup. And even money's fifty one to one behind bricks in risk of turf. He came back a month later in the Hollywood Turf Cup U. N. same exact reason the neck literally literally ran the same. Exactly he's got the neck At even money he's not a trustworthy type. And you're GONNA see that line from the Breeders Cup turf and he's going to take money in perpetuity opportunity off of that line. I would think unless he goes really bad. But he's not the kind of horst it you would ever think going to go really bad so he's going to be the kind of course where I think you're you're GonNa get lucky when you catch him at the right time He's likely going to be a short price and I think going forward. He's Kinda worse in the back of your mind. You try I and say you know what I'm going to try and beat sourced with campaign coming out pick somebody WHO's probably gonna be even money again. He can win. And if I were to make a pick four aura. Pick five there tomorrow. I would certainly be using them but I didn't get beat. I'm GONNA try Oscar. The Ming doors beat him. Last time. you know. I wonder if Oscar the MINGAS might even be a touch better at the mile and a quarter distance races a fast. But maybe so you know. Last time I know he just got last night at the mile and a half. I sources useful Peter Miller had this claimed from him more from the house the other way around but Richard. Richard Baltimore has done a sensational job with this seven year. Old gelded son of Zaphon He had a fantastic year last year when a quarter of a million dollars in grinding it out a couple of wins wins from eight tries and I liked his race last time out when he beat United he'll need a little help towards areas and arrived for the first time. Soon will Joel Walkin do with some of these horses you can keep more closely. He has a knack for doing that. Channel maker comes to mind You turned the horse and channel maker. who was you know? One run closer into wars that was is a little more tactical Later on in his career after Joel got aboard from last year and a half essentially. So we'll see if he does that tomorrow. If you're worried about somebody somebody getting loose on them in here and I always worry about stuff like that. The rail run of the one chosen vessel. Craig Delancey Street and Van Dyke I. I don't know if this distance is going to suit him. He's one for one of the distance. He won the race at Santa. Anita I would think trading van Dyke has just GonNa put source on a lead tomorrow and you know if you worry about things like that like I do. I don't see anybody that can stay with him. I mean maybe Brown the storm the five. I don't think so though so Maybe he's your insurance policy chosen vessel. But I'll try Oscar the Ming again from the outside draw to get the money in the grade to San Marcos race. Number eight wraps it up the right to Sam squall mile and an eighth on the main track. Got An interesting bunch of horses in here As a nice size field you got a field of ten in here. We've seen a lot of horses have success. Going from Almost exclusive east coast campaigns and going out west The one that comes to mind the most is gift box gift boxes and ordinary horse. Course here on the East Coast. He went to California multiple grade. One winner I just think the competition's less out in California. I'm going to test that theory. With one of Steve's favorite even horses and this kind of an honor Steve Rabovsky not being here tonight. combatant blinkers go on combatant. First Time for John Sadler. Horrendous racing bought the source This is a purchase. Combatant is what he is. He wanted to other allowance race last time out. Optional claiming race combat and it's not a world beater. Hey you is not A. He's not the beast from the East But I do think he has a real chance at upsetting this Sam squall L.. Tomorrow and you know a lot of these sources have some some town and have some chances to thirty-five the other Baltic wooden are the ball source. Wouldn't surprise me. INSTAGRAM wouldn't surprise me Mid Courts my second choice. He wouldn't surprise me. I was wished I I didn't like the victim. Does our other source at all. Last time he he took advantage of native diver aggressive with them and instead of doing the same thing last time he ripped source back was not prepared at the start And gave terrible right so I you know I'm just waiting to see what kind of ride it gets. roadsters the interesting one. Because I don't know if if Bob Baffert confused by roadster I don't know if roadster runs when he feels like it I mean when he shows up he's good but there are days where he just he just doesn't run Joel Rhythm for the first time last time in the Malibu when he wasn't GonNa beat all Maha beach kind of feel like that was his best race I'll try roadster to topical combatant goes as Race Number Eight degree to San Pascual. "Slew as a four year. Old and affirmed as a spectacular bid as a four year old. I mean what these horses can do sore when they really are more maturity than and you know then the three I mean with Omaha beach it would just my mouth waters waters. Would he could accomplish. Perhaps this year as a four year old. And it's just a shame. I mean as Andy Sterling said. You can't knock the people for taking the money not off the table in it. You know you get it. I mean and you you've said it too. I mean you've got all these people with invested a lot into this game and when you get something like this you know you just have to cash in chips I mean it really is though it just makes sense but when I see someone like beholder race as long as she did and of course there's a big difference between a female thoroughbred and a and a stallion prospect. But still I mean just to get one more year at home beach and of course we never got that one more year out of secretary at either so it does happen that we're we're. We're disappointed by that. But I did think worldstar actually ran in a pretty good race here to That's been overlooked. You know people were so high on him coming out of the Santa Anita Derby and I actually thought his race in the Damascus was pretty darn good against flagstaff. I mean they threw it down in the final furlong in that race and I didn't think wolster off a layoff lost anything in defeat in performance. And yes he laid an egg in the native diver but he came back and got you know ran a a good race. I thought in the Malibu. The disappointment was complexity. There would shipped in off the Big Win for Chad Brown and boy he was. He was a big disappointment. Appointment at two to one in that race and more forces turned into an absolute beast He's kind of similar to Omaha beach in Omaha beach lost. His first four races won four in a row and more forcing he struggled in the main ranks and lost his first five races and now he's won four in a row so a real similarity from that standpoint and the two forms and this more Borsa he really got to give. Peter Miller a lot of credit here. This this the Sun oncle mole was just blossomed. And of course as you said there weren't has been telling us that even before the source for how good he was so very certainly proved right. You know I always think Berry because I remember talking with Mike Mitchell. One time in it was Mike Mitchell who Barry Abrams out to get unusual heat. Who would turn out to be one of the greatest California sires in history? And one day I was sitting there the sand and either either Walking ring and On a bench with Mike Mitchell we were just chatting and that was back when I was doing the simulcast commentary. Sorry for all those years for Santa Anita and Somehow it came up about it unusual heat. Mike says you know I was the guy that that Berry had to out out. Shake for that horse. And he says people don't realize how important it was the very one that shake because I was going to kill them. Yeah so if you think of Mike Mitchell getting that horse gelding him and all those sons and daughters of unusual heat never being born. That is just mind boggling to contemplate so that is certainly one for the books but and then I thought really A. One of the most debt I think one of the most impressive performance in it really was absolutely dazzling for the trainer who you voted for third on your eclipse award valid written. You know what I think. That wasn't bad at all. Richard Baltics third on your ballot but Venetian harbour that race. That she ran turn her maiden diploma. That was just eye-popping. I thought and she got a ninety. Four buyer turned out to be the second biggest buyer by a t zero filling in the whole country for two thousand nineteen. So this is a filly who a daughter of munnings out of street crime air who I think has extremely bright future. She had lost her career debut as an even money. Favourite to another Richard Baltimore's training actually on the turf and and Boy when he switched Venetian.

"Only people go download your IRA bats APP to day a points on the align tomorrow my friend Gotcha Derby points here. This was the empire makers thought. It wasn't a Gotcha Derby points here. Many Years Back Great Three Shams ten ten forty one independence hall got his ten in the Jerome here on Wednesday despite acting like a Out of the terrible twos he was a terrible three that day a little bit of Paddock. A Happy Day on his birthday. But it's a still got the job done it One tonight you'll see the mind much to twenty to ten. You know. Sometimes you see one of nine going into the game and ends up onto five five. Yeah not that day. Oh I never seen a horse. Not named Songbird open one tonight and stay there. But he did Great to Sham Flat Mile. That's once around at the great race displace just to fill the six As you would imagine Bob Baffert holds a strong hand here. Authentic from the rail eight to five hundred warning lines rate and Van Dyke source brokers. 'cause meaning only five and a half they're gonNA ask them to stretch out from five and a half a mile. That was at Domoni just about two months ago as coast went to turns in the longest stretch action North America. Over at Lowe's Al last time and dyke stays the one have no fear as coast fans. Joel Rosario was here in the boot for the first time and drain Van Dyke decided to go with With authentic like I mentioned but I think as will cost I think that was much more impressive his his his debut win over track with some moisture in it. I mean to turns first time out. Yet expected them to win he was always bent down favoritism on the board but he made a nice isolate run and and went on and I was just impressed with his win. And you know thanks a lot of speed. I agree that you know. Maybe Drayton figures that they can stretch speed out. I'm I'm going to take the one. That's already proven he can go to terrence. I think Those two of the two best in here and They may well run one too. But I'M GONNA put as you'll coast on top. Only only two of the six have gone to close one first time out tae shot on the far outside one second time out I was Richard Baltas. Narendra you'll go in there. I'm not I'm taking a close look on my plan. Here is to beat authentic high profile. Play if I play An air rainbow six starts in this race as if I play any kind of multi-race wages I'm using the foreign six and tossing authentic as close for me goes as race number five grade. Three hundred thousand dollar ten derby points. It's on the line in the sham. And yes the that is where empire maker started off his three year. Olds they put blinkers on them for the first time then exploded. Yes yes they did. Decide that something for Saturday bed huff race. Eight at the great race places. Great to San Gabriel. Mylan Island in eighth on the lawn strike lead this field of seven. They haven't toodle one of the morning line. John White makes it good morning line. Man I got it is going to be considerably shorter you. I think it'd be the favorite. I don't know how short he's going to be. I thought it'd be close to even money. I don't think so really know if they're gonNA go. I think. Go onto the rail. I think we're going to go to Desert Storm on the biggest just as it's known fan there is. I don't think I think the the Bloomsburg off the rose a little bit I think as it stones just a cut below now listen. You could argue. This isn't the toughest great to he's ever going to run it and he's been running and he ran in grade once Back in the fall spring. He hasn't run since then. I mean that's a question but I feel like he needs a race off. I I feel the race off the bench to his best work but I think a lot of the public takes a look at what Richard Baltimore has done. Plus what he's done off these type of layoffs and the numbers at the sources rent run run. I think he's going to take a good amount owed support and I wouldn't bet him either. I think he's a racist well but I've got a little helping here too because the other ball source of the five five North country guy just went to wire going a mile and three eighths now. I know it's a lot different but quite frankly it doesn't seem over. Maybe the two chosen vessel well But I can't imagine going to go particularly fast I went a little off. So where did you go. I went with the four overdue. I do Fulfil D'Amato coming out of the mall. And I have Hollywood Turf Cup. which was his Graded stakes debut stakes race before. Newly Return five-year-old's is only run eight times. I like his two prior races where he won and the optional claiming ranks one of them in one forty six and two mile over. The Senate need a turf course. I like him getting back to these middle distances. And I think it'd be a decent price. Okay and would you go out of the Barwick goofy. I went to acker claiming Rao and I'm thinking Joel. Rosario just puts a source on a League tomorrow. That's what I'm thinking I'm thinking Joel Right Bobble of the break last time. You look back to that race at del Mar in summer. That'd be three quarters of a length of Cleopatra Strike just sitting off off the lead off a pretty decent. ID geologist going to blast. The source often see what he can do I would use Cleopatra Strike with them but does the only two I wanted anything with three. Seven Bucks Leah. Patrick Strike in Aker Aker to win for me and race number eight rate to San Gabriel. Return the Senate and just a little bit take a couple of trips down the Sunland Park this weekend and they have some interesting action actually started. They would quarterhorse racing I've been known to dabble in the quarter now. And then my friend just so you know. Is there anything you no better. No no long as an animal's involved. You mean a foot race. Anyway the bold ego handicap goes race. It's number nine five and a half wrongs four the fillies and Mares feel the seven going to go to the post so go to the post in here This I've never seen a morning line like this. You have A three two one two seven two two four to one and a five to one so they all over the board And I think rightly so. Oh I think there's several in here who who own topically looking at the race. who own the numbers to be competitive? I think he's my gem is going to be Be Tough to beat near Shelly run three times. He's already stakes winner. Three quarters Over the vizier park main track. I don't think the slight cutback cutback is going to bother her much I think that Todd fincher training is the one that going to have to be number. One awarded is interesting. I off the claims for Susan. Susan are net You say hey claiming off of Justin Evans who hit thirty one percent clip in the guys. No joke I mean he. He's the man there but take a look at what she's done with her claims she's nine for sixteen with her. You know with sixty nine of them have one. That's you know it's amazing step up and company but now there's there's some Sweden here and This horse has the right running style. I mean I know that he she breaks from the rail she can lead to trip out but one for one at sunland eleven time career winter interesting and she's anywhere near that eight to one online press and you didn't even mention the fact that she was against the track and the staff. Everyone to why I did not. Yeah I did not say remember I remember it. Well Stephanie. Here I do waxing poetic about Atlanta enchantment. It was a fun Kart. Thank anymore She's my jam. Speaking of land of enchantment she rode the bias. But you know what are the racist racist. Plenty of good. She's drawn outside. There's a lot of the speed in here that she gets the trip. I took my jam the Horse that I would want to Maybe mess around with at a price is Tmi Five in the morning lunch one phoenix. This should be a little higher than that. I I was all about the two in the six and she's my jam. The six will be my top pick goes as race number nine at someone the sixty five thousand dollar bold eagle all right. We'll take one more break week when we come back..

"Still on the run one bad boy what bad boy never looked better has got the queen's plate wetlands really want second time one bad boy prevails gator wire fashion over abc's flatter abc's ladder goes off of these second choice in their follow at home by tone broke rounds out you're trifecta let's discuss one bad boy the winner of this year's queen's plate to a five lifetime never out of the money in five lifetime starts over five hundred twenty three thousand dollars in career earnings owned by cj racing llc greg hall in brooke hubbard trained by richard baltin the spread by wrong clarkson in ontario obviously the queen's plate only open to canadian brits a written a victory by flavio prep the winner of the kentucky derby now i believe one of three riders ever windy derby in queens played in the same year to the pedigree at the bottom of the horse card he's like portland count toiling candy excuse me at a very stormy atlantic mayor a is for the nuts and bolts are concerned ninety four buyer per one bad boy one fourteen patient justin time form uss rating i'd be buyers speed figure was turned up believe initially they awarded him in eighty eight they've moved up to ninety four so rather significant improvement about six points eighties flatter earned in eighty nine buyer tone broken eighty four he's a macho man eighty desert ride the philly in the field seventy eight from the time formula standpoint abc's flattering one ten tone broke a one oh six he's a macho man one oh two i've skews me yeah he's a macho man as well it does a ride on one oh one some things to discuss here with this race i think i was concerned for both the top two finishers about adam ground for them a one bad boys coming out of alcatraz so you run very well that day but i wasn't convinced the added ground is gonna be to his benefit and eighties flatter the way that he has run basically tickly in his to start this far as a three year old on the turf albeit not on the synthetic i i've been fearful that as the distances got longer he wasn't necessarily finishing with gusto he wasn't finishing as well as he does that those sort of more middle distances flat mile or whatever it may be obviously i was wrong on both accounts a but the more important thing for me when i take a look at this race and you see the chart there is no passing and no running really going on whatsoever yet a couple of horses pick up some pieces pieces from the back of the pack but this is essentially a merry go round the horses that were onetwothree throughout they finished one two three and you take a look at the fractions not really a surprise twenty four to forty nine into perhaps fourteen for three quarters they've finished in two oh two and four or i i like the way that one bad boy finished kicked on very nicely still had a little bit of gas left in the tank dnd twentyfive fifteen first final quarter mile is opposed to a horse like eighties flatter came home and twentyfive seventy three that's why you got that that sort of lengthening sort of a margin of victory as they finished down the lane i just can't help but look at it and say the dynamics in this race played to the benefit of those top two and even top three if you want to include tone broke now it's difficult to assess one way or the other the really if you believe that need to pita at woodbine on saturday was favoring speed what i will say is and i say it's difficult because they only ramp four races on the to peter out of the thirteen races that recorded on saturday so you don't have a big sample size to make a definitive statement or something really based you're opinion off of a but i will say of the four races and they were run at different configurations timmy it kind of felt like you needed it before the pace if you work for the place i didn't think you had much of a chance and with horses of this quality i think being focused on attracting could potentially be be friendly i think that's gonna go along way i and i don't think any of the horses coming from off of it necessarily had a fair shake so is it the end all be all doesn't mean that you know the top three horses are quality no not at all but you know there are instances where you could still be arguably the best horses in the most talented horse it but you could also have things work to your favorite work in your favor a one bad boy abc's lateran tone broke they all ran find races i do they were sort of beneficiaries and the way the track played a sky wire on the flip side he had nothing go his way from the break he was pinching slammed between horses shuffled back a this is a horse that no he's not a burner by any stretch of the imagination but you'd imagine it would have been a little bit closer to the pace then he was had he not been impeded at the start then rounding the far turn and he's got a tap on the brakes a little bit when he's in and among sources down inside so things just didn't work for it didn't work out for the connections unfortunately this time around and then again you factor in the idea but it just seems very very difficult for anyone who make up any real ground sky wire i think you're supposed to draw a line through this race and move on going forward is the macho man the fourth place finisher he made up some ground i'll give him a little bit of extra credit he end as a ride the long philly they try to get into into it but it just felt like there was no opportunity for them to really make up any significant ground whether it's because the leader still had something left in the tank at the end of the race or because of the track was playing against those horses coming from off the oregon a combination of the two these things don't after be mutually exclusive they could be one in the same so i think it's gonna be interesting to see what we do with these horses coming out of this race who's gonna go on to run in the second leg of the canadian triple crown it'll be the prince of wales at a forty eight a who's gonna go back a different surfaces says whether it's back to the dirt whether it's trying turf again whatever the case may be and then keep in mind that third leg of the canadian triple crown the breeders and it's at a mile and a half on grass so just because i think it's to me it's triple crown i love of everything about the way the canadian triple crown is set up where you have three different distances in three different surfaces at three different tracks that to me it is ultimate sort of combination of if you can get through all three of those stage is not that are american triple crown is not glorious and spectacular but the idea that you're doing they're they're really you can't argue is any sort of real success in those races because if you are able to run and even if you don't win all three of the legs but if you're wondering all three of them and you run competitively that's me just signifies you're quality horse 'cause you could do a little bit of everything you're not dependent on one thing or whatever the case may be will find out how many of these horses this race move on to the second leg and the canadian triple crown what we do know is one bad boy per trainer richard baltimore in flavio lobbying pratt they are the winners of this year's queen's plate ninety four buyer speed figure one fourteen time adjusted time form ustry take a look at the field for the grade one islander at woodbine saturday afternoon six furlongs on the turf those in favor of his caribou club caribou club is a nice horse tom proctor and glenn he'll far we know on his best day what he's capable of his most recent run over into by now clause sprint don't hold that against him didn't work out for number of reasons but you know one is better day what he is capable of there is a horse in this race i behind for quite some time and i'll go over at all after we've seen the stretch run but i thought he really proved himself to be of the grade one caliber and not just of the grade one caliber but i think he is of upper echelon is bars shorter middle distance turf runners take a look at this year stretch run of the islander down the lane in the highlander "Mar. And. Better efforts have come at del mar or Senator races aren't great. But when you look more closely, she got racist down the hill. She had one race where she made a big middle move into Veseleko. And she was on her Ron and she's got that race to starts back in the swing time. When she got beat just three quarters of a length, the fawn Mira, and the blinkers are gonna come off or for the now people are going to change the blinkers going on. But also favored Angola mine as well. And Richard Baltimore. The last two years of the blinkers off twenty six percent, thirty eight runners a positive ROI more importantly for me. My main man's climbing aboard Djilas areas ride this Philly for the first time, and you know, she's not without some tactical speed bear on just hasn't been using it. She's been dropping back in these racist reform off the lead. You got a real speed horse here in fawn Moore right to her outside. I think fawn Mora goes, I think even the to escape clause can go. I think Joel is going to put this Philly in the right spot. I think she gets the trip. I think she gets the money. I really liked Quebec in recently before the great three Robert J Frankel, Bobby if he was a friend like he was did you tonight? All right race. Number eight is the great one American oaks. Wow. Lot a quarter four the three year old Phillies. Could take out the number one Kodiak west she's already come out. I think a lot of people were expecting to have little for. I'm dean was out already too. But that's not the case. She won the rate lady of shamrock on opening day. And Jeff Mullins said there was a chance she'd run back in just around seventy two hours and she's four one on the morning line. She has been very good and hurt you starts here from Owens on the in the US. We'll see what the how it how it goes. When you come back and three days they'll be a field of eight if I'm these days in. Yeah. Well, she came back in a week and got beat three quarters of a length. So she sees to running back quickly. I would kind of be surprised if they ran her back, but but not totally. And I think she she'll be a contender. If she does run. I went to the outside again. Unfortunately, my post position selections are not great, but California gold rush dot are capable Ongko out of Shammar doll mayor. She's won three out of four you need to have any kind of crystal ball. The find this one Scott excellent turf figures flaky on Pratt. And I think I think she might be the best the best filly in here. We'll see. Yeah. I thought this was a tough race. I'm very curious if I'm in the states, and I think she can win. I think Princess warrior can win. Fridges warriors problem might be a little lack of pace in here and her best efforts have come with some given the ground. I'm curious. Yes. She handles that that harder force out Santa Nita. Paves can win. It got a little ambitious with running around the Cup last time. But she ran so well in the day. Oh drive against the older fillies and mass. She gave her gave her a shot can't knock them for trying. She just seems really handle it around day either. I think California gold rush can win. I competition of ideas on top, you know, Chad around really ship too many horses out west when they do they run plain and simple, and she's affiliate that has been she's turned around liquors went on. She broke a mate in a big way. At Belmont came back six weeks later, and gut it out a win on a day where she probably shouldn't have one. That's I like horses that win when they shouldn't win. And she did just I don't use four to five in south ridiculous say well, she won when she shouldn't have won. But the way things panned out in the way that surfaced plan. She shouldn't have won that day. And she did came back. I don't know why. I mean, I do know. I she's my spy town. And there was some moisture in the track out of died on Dorrell mass. He left her in the author wants a memories last time out, but. She's back tear..
