"And the smell of bacon that comes with it. Oh, I mean, and they're frying eggs. If anything, they're incredibly hospitable once you get to know them. We really should be vilifying them. We should have one on the podcast. That's true. We shouldn't be discussing them without one of them represented on the panel. Now it's time for your reviews, as you know, each week we ask our guest editors to bring in something to review out of 5 stars. What have you brought in for us this week, Rhea? I'm reviewing living with your ex-husband, okay? Because I think there's a lot of people out there who want to live alone, but don't want to do all of the housework. You know what I mean? Maybe you don't want to you just want to do the inside bits. Or you like being married, you just don't like the person you were married to. So I am reviewing, therefore, getting divorced, and then still living with your ex-husband. And I have to say, you know, I've been trialing the product for a while. Both during the divorce and post divorce. Can I just say, because it's important to sort of, I think, experience it in all stages to just be fair in the review. And I'd like to give it a solid three out of 5 stars because I still don't take out the trash, and if something needs doing in the house, I still don't have to, you know, if something needs fixing, I don't have to worry about calling the plumber or anything like that, sorting that, which is great. But on the other hand, I live in a single bed like a student, you know, and in the corner of the living room. And so that's, you know, as someone who's divorced, I feel like there's a next stage to move to and I haven't quite done that. So I'm giving it three out of 5. The bins thing does sound good though. It's so good. It's just so good. I just put stuff in the bins, and they get emptied. It's like living in an office. That's what I give two out of two out of the three stars is purely for the fact that the bins just magically empty themselves. Oh, and the kitchen gets cleaned. So those are the pros. So I'd say three out of 5. I'd say, you know what? Don't knock it till you've tried it. Give it a go. If you are super rich and you have like wings in your house, totally do it. it was worth to somebody who hasn't got a spouse? Is it worth getting married in order to get divorced in order to live in a house with your divorce partner? Do you know what? Here's the beauty of it.

Trish Reacts to Rhianna's "boring" Half-Time Show Performance

"Promise I'd say something about Rihanna, right? Just a little something about Rhea. I mean, did you did you like that? I thought it was absolutely positively boring. So I'm going to say this as somebody who is a singer myself classically turned into classically training voice and played a lot of jazz piano growing up. Classical piano as well. And I can just say, look, the woman's got a great voice. She sings well. She's certainly not a dancer now. We'll cut us some slack because it turns out she's pregnant, so she's not going to be jumping around the stage in the same way, but what was that other stuff? I mean, I kept saying, why does she keep putting her hands in her crotch? What was that dance? I found it very odd and highly inappropriate. I mean, this is still a family entertainment. Thank you very much. It was just weird. It was weird. It was born, and I'm like, come on, lady, get the hands out of the, you know what? Anyway, not good. But these things, they never really are. I mean, I did feel for her when she was up on that giant float. Just floating in the air and now that I know that she was pregnant as well. I mean, I have a little bit of fear of heights when it comes to things like that. I don't think I would have been so willing together. But if you're not going to dance, and you're going to be all covered up and at one point, she looked like she was going to be sort of a balloon taking off herself with that big red cape. I'm like, is that the big red balloon? Remember the song 99? Red balloons.

"I've had an orange squash. That's good. Let's get real good. If there was a sequel, there was a sequel to trick or treat. A broken rear she's gone. She's gone. Yeah. Shock phobia fest. Rhea is now in shock. I'm going to bring it back. I'm going to say some of these things. Go on. Go on. You're really good at this. Come on. Come on, revolting rear. Come on. Yeah, so if what's the question you just said, if there was a sequel? Yeah, what would you expect from a C called do you think it would be do you think they would go the same way? Do you think it would be on one night and they do it kind of non linearly? Yeah, I think they absolutely have to. And I think they've shown that when it's done well, it works. I would be I want it to be different stories interwoven with little pumpkin sand walking around causing some trouble being creepy, but also cute. And I think I do think it would be hard to do it now, I think it'd be really hard to do it. Now I think trick or treat was made at that great time where there wasn't too much going on with technology. There wasn't trying to be too smart with horror films and we all have computers and phones and stuff like that. So I don't think it would work set now. I think it works set in the past much better. I think it's too easy to fall into oh, let's do some sort of shaky cam. People calling it on their phones. Technology type thing. So I just don't think. And I think it's really hard for horror film makers to make this sort of film now because of that because of technology. I think it's a real challenge and I don't think anybody's really got to grips with it. I think there's some good horror thriller type films that are doing it. But it's in pure horror ones. None of them really tend to work for me. So I do think it would be really difficult to make it now. Yeah, there's always like a line or a thing that says, oh, my phone's out of battery or I can't get a signal, or, you know, there's all this sort of stuff. But I guess it's the same with like, the car's not working. You know, we've run out of fuel. The bridge is out, you know, all that sort of stuff. But I guess that's just the modern equivalent of that. But yeah, that's interesting. Yeah, I didn't consider that. Do you think they should much like this story we're going to talk about very shortly. Obviously, we're in different time periods. Do you think you would like to see it all the way back like the beginnings of the Halloween traditions or early Halloween? Yeah, and I think that's what's really strong about days of the dead, I think that it's really smart in the stories that they tell and how they're framed, that it does go back to, I mean, should we just start talking about which is go ahead.

"Because he was such a great person and I wish he was around. But I think that being an observant kid and watching life and watching the decisions my mom had to make a sister out of make, I had to make people around us make watching that interior versus exterior of what people think about, what's privately going on in your house versus what's going on outside versus how we're going to behave when we get to school. Being popular one year and then being bullied another year and then back to popular and it was like, was it my pants? Everything about growing up to me. Felt safer if I was allowed to think about the why S of human behavior. And I think I probably would have gone into psychiatry if I didn't find acting. Oh, I tried. I tried. Did you? Yes. I'm definitely an armchair psychology. I loved a good site class in all my God. Parties all the time. My poor fiance, he's fascinated by behavior, but the level to which I am like, I need to talk about the dude that was at the on the bench by the front door for like seriously two hours. And yeah, and the woman that kept asking me to taste the almond milk to tell her if there was sugar in it when she could taste it herself. And I'm like, why would somebody, why wouldn't you just taste it and he's like, I don't know. But I'm always like, oh, I'm gonna put this in a scene. I'm gonna put this in a scene somewhere. Which again, it's not a crutch, though. It's a fascinating way to go through life and to get to make a living at it, come on. It doesn't get better. Plus, I'm part of storytelling. It's the best. Yeah. Well, and I would imagine after you wrap a long successful series like Better Call Saul that it could either be scary or exciting, scary to end something that has been such a stable part of your life for the past few years or exciting to be starting something new and fresh again, how are you feeling right now? I don't think it felt real until the finale came out. I'm in some deep denial. Also a skill set children of addicts learn. But. I'm scared. I'm sad. Leaving that kind of writing, ugh. But I also realized another chapter will unfold, but the writing and Better Call Saul these style of portraiture and character storytelling that they do and do so well. And that kind of work with this crew, this set of writers and directors. The set of scene partners. I mean, it doesn't get better than bob. I adore him, and we adore each other's work ethic. And we adore the characters each other mate. So we get to put all of that together when we act and truly distrust. Animus all of that. Any parting words for Kim? Well, listen, there's gonna be open interpretation about this finale. And I think all our ballots, but suffice it to say, in real life, I am a hopeless romantic. So, my parting words for Kim are. Please, please, please, please, please follow your heart because I want you to. Full rate. It was such a pleasure speaking with you. Thank you for giving us your time.

"Blah blah blah and when I look back on it I know I wanted to be an entertainment that I was chubby at the time and I didn't know anybody in entertainment and I didn't understand that acting was a craft and there's tons of brilliant Chevy actors I'm just saying at the time when you're watching 1980s American television doesn't look like there's a big open lane for people that don't look a certain way. Then it started watching theater and I was like oh, they seem to have some parts for me. It was a confluence of a lot of events my dad did paint my sister paint and draws. We definitely shared that with my debt. It seemed to be the way he could process emotions until the alcohol became the bigger crutch. Unfortunately. And even all the way back to he was in the Vietnam War and he has sketches charcoal sketches from that time that clearly are a person trying to sort out. You know, back when none of a certain generation were not at all saying they needed therapy or anyone helping them get it. So I have a lot of sympathy for that. I also didn't have then, but do now and in my early years of acting developed a lot of sympathy and empathy for what my mom went through. Being the wife of an alcoholic and trying to hide things from people. I have sympathy and empathy for what my sister went through when my parents got divorced and we had to decide where to live and I couldn't stand the thought of breaking either of their hearts so I made her choose to show that I could say, I just want to do what my sister's doing. And I've spent so many late nights apologizing to her for that. What I'm saying about this experience is it fed into a magnified the fact that it's not binary. It's not addicts are monsters and horrible parents. Some of them are pretty good parents, often great, doing the best they can, making some really poor decisions on occasion, but so are a lot of non addict parents. And the why S of why people behave they behave. Preemie understanding why my dad's behavior changes at certain hours of the day. And post my understanding and even the latter ladder years where you are asking them to quit. Begging them to quit. Yeah. And understanding my mom's decisions and the decision to divorce somebody, especially if the person, if the alcoholic is acting like a victim, and you want to rally around them. And the decisions his family made, oh yeah. You're speaking my language, right? I mean, the decisions people make when a funeral happens, the decisions people make when they don't like the real reason this person died. So some of us are going to pretend he died of something else. Insanity. And I'm 18 and I'm like, what are we doing? I mean, I'm not an actor, but I feel like I would imagine acting came somewhat naturally for you because I feel like as children of alcoholics were like the best actors because we're always having to pretend everything. But additionally, tell me if you had this additionally, you develop a really great skill set for observing behavior and trying to figure out the why behind it. And that's the third of script analysis right there. What was the objective with this line? What was the tactic you used at that time? And did you get it? You didn't get the objective, so that's why you then said this. Otherwise it would have set exit stage left. So your objective has not been met or you shifted tactics or something. I'm like, I was just fascinated by behavior and what probably was a coping mechanism for you and when we were younger to observe rather than be in it. But also like you said, I mean, believe me, I am somebody that needs to make sure everyone's okay in the room because something might blow up at any moment. Yes. And if you've spent any time in Al anon, which I have, you know these wonderful survival skills when we were growing up, have become obstacles as an adult. Because not everyone in the room wants me to fix them. Thank you very much.

"Kim. Don't do this. Kim, please. Jimmy. I have had the time of my life with you. And my scene where we almost break up, but instead she says, or maybe we get married very technically challenging scene. Shut up. Jimmy, Jimmy, you know this has to change. If you don't see it, I don't know what to say because we are at a breaking point. Either we end this now. Either we end this now and enjoy the time we had and go separate ways or we're what? I mean. Or maybe maybe we get married. Kim became increasingly impulsive and it bitter in the ass. But at that time in the show, she was rarely impulsive. Everything needed to be methodically thought out and if anything that was her response to Jimmy's impulsiveness was because you know, she started in this place when they're sitting on the bed eating pie saying like you fabricated evidence I love you and I'm in this enough that I'm not going to walk away and I'm also attracted to that rebellion. So I'm not walking away, but here's the solution. Just don't tell me about anything you do. Cut to the marriage and what happens after that. She was like, here's the only way I can control it. Oh, I know. Tell me everything. Tell me every single thing because I will be the person that can make sure no bombs go off. And this was also the increasing level of her ego, which I found that people were seeing that as heroic and the I saved me, you don't save me, became a character flaw in my opinion. She refused to accept help and you go all the way on the end of that spectrum to, oh, Lala's alive and you might be coming for us. I'm just not going to tell Jimmy. My fiance and I call, and it's like from it's a therapy term like managing people, like you think you can. She's like, I don't want him to get PTSD, so I won't tell him. Okay. Wow, he might show up and blow your heads off. That's the only downside of that. But she thinks she thinks she's got it all under control. Clearly does not. But I was totally unaware of what 6 12 and 6 13 had in them. But I know I finished that scene thinking I don't think she thinks she deserves anything that has any illumination to it anymore. It just has to be gray. That's all she deserves as she shouldn't come anywhere near decision making or being the person that's in charge of something. And it's tragic. I had said for years like, yeah, she might die. I don't know the ending of the show. But I also said there are things more tragic. I mean, there are truly. We're talking plot line, figuratively. I guess what I would say is it's not the only tragedy. Dying is not the only tragedy for a character like, Kim, because now we see what she could be. We've seen what she could have been, and it's awful. And I do think that they have a real love story. I have always thought that their love for each other is sincere. However, convoluted at times, and even though they clearly get off on scamming and stuff together, I cherished all the smaller scenes where they're just eating Chinese food together or brushing their teeth. So those things to me are that. The weave of the fabric that makes the explosive things matter. It's why people give a crap when we break up. It's because he always, you know, holds my briefcase while I'm going out the door is because we brush our teeth and make jokes and all the way through it. Our character's support each other. It's an old gag, but sneak into his country club and put near in his shampoo buck. And he takes a shower and hair falls out. Yeah. Nice. Or. We pour a barrel of chlorine into his swimming pool so then. Bleach is his hair, and his eyebrows. Yes, and the eyebrows. Even when Kim wanted him to not do bad things, there was always this constant reminder of you said you wanted XYZ. You said you wanted a seat at the big kids table. You said you wanted to be seen, why can't you be seen as just as deserving as the HHM people in this that and the other? So if you sell burner phones in a parking lot, that is not going to help you with the goal you said you had, you know, less which is very different than like, what's wrong with you? You're a piece of crap. Which other people do to him. You'll never be anything. And hers is more like, hey, man, I'll help you get wherever you want to go. Something that I found interesting during Breaking Bad's run was many predominantly male fans came to see Skyler white as a villain standing in Walter white's way. And subjected the character and the actress Anna Gunn to a lot of vitriol as a result. What was your reaction to that sort of discourse whether as a viewer or as you prepare to take on the role in Better Call Saul? Like were you worried that as the woman who was sort of like the moral center initially that you were going to sort of come under the fire in that way? Well, all of that is a lot to impact. I have to say it first and foremost, what she got thrown at her is so far beyond undeserved. And unfounded and has no ground. It doesn't hold any if you actually look at the storyline and the authentic choices she made for her character. It's ludicrous and horrible and no one should be attacking an actress for a character they're playing even if you feel that way about it's so stupid. And I hate that she had to go through that. People do often love to hate the obstacle in the way of your protagonist. And that happens. She wrote that lovely New York Times article that I think speaks to all of this far better than I can about why it became so personalized and being a woman. And the connection of those two. So my concerns really rested in the fact that unfortunately if social media decides to hate you and they go on a rampage, there's very little you can do about it. And I know I wasn't a character from Breaking Bad. I knew that some people are just going to want this show to be Breaking Bad. Some people are only going to want cartel stuff. Some people are going to want Jimmy to hurry up and become Saul Goodman and why is this dinky blond ponytail in our way? I'm sure those people exist. I think television audiences have evolved. A little bit. I'm part of it is because if you build it, they will come. There are so many more enriched complex female characters that are allowed to disagree with their partner and still be fascinating, interesting, and do you want to follow them? And I think there are tons of men out there that want to see characters from female characters to be just as interesting as the male characters. I think probably the majority of them. So I do think we've helped our audiences see the brilliance of performances like Anna guns and so I step into a world that's already built a little better for it. But yeah, I knew like they decide like, why is

"She change or was she like this since she was suppressing it? Like it really added to the subtlety of what I got to play. The fact that Peter was not interested in Vince when he was coach running for the first couple of seasons. They were not interested in spoon feeding the audience or telling you it's a or it's B, nature versus nurture, who's affecting whom or any of us innately who we are or are you only a summary of your experiences in a relationship. These are questions that keep me up at night, philosophically. So the satisfaction came from getting to play all of them because they always felt like very human, organic chefs when something would come up when you're like, oh, oh, she's good at scamming. It's like, well, I secretly always thought that she came from some kind of chaos. And I specifically thought she was raised by an addict. We did that a lot on the show where I'm making up backstory and subtext. They don't know about. I would always tell them if I ever do behavior that you know is going to ruin something you're planning, then just come over and S.W.A.T. me and I'll do something else. But that never happened and they were writing things that I would send like, oh, that matches. I mean, when we did the flashback and my mom was an alcoholic, I was like, mmm. I think I thought it was my dad, but still I had been constructing things around that. So it was a nice little. Yeah, nice little dance. I've enjoyed playing all of them. And all of them have been challenging, which is also like, when you tell somebody something with challenging, often what you're saying is somebody gave me a chance to get better. And I liked it. I like going through that scene. I am not sure if I can pull that one off. But you're going to have to. You're going to have to figure it out. Well, because I was going to say, I mean, it became increasingly stressful to watch Kim's character, like the stakes got higher and higher. Was there any particular scenes that stood out where the stress was really felt for you as the performer? Yeah, I mean, there was quite a few of them. And my breakup scene with Jimmy was extraordinarily difficult. You asked if you were bad for me. That's not it. We are bad for each other.

"Peter said he hopes that people that the finale actually causes you to continue to hypothesize and think about the next day the next two weeks the next 6 months. The rest of their lives, what that means. And what it means to go in any of those directions. And there was a reason that she didn't have blond hair when she came back or even her dark hair at a ponytail. Those things were very specific. I do not think it's a reset. And now everything's fine. And Ken's just gonna become Kim again. I personally think there's a rebuilding of sorts and an attempt to relish any kind of second chance at life that is more truthful and for Kim. I think the more truthful part does involve practicing law and trying again to go about actually helping people, I'm a hopeless romantic, so I can't help thinking that she's gonna try to figure out how to decrease his sentence while still being on the up and up, you know? In some way that doesn't involve a scam. I don't think it's the end of their relationship, but I also think there's plenty of people that will think that she's never going back there. And that is the end of the tale. But that just makes me cry too hard. So I can't. Well, I mean, running theme of the finale is this idea of the choices we make, the turning points that sort of alter everything. And Jimmy keeps mentioning building a time machine, obviously referencing the H.G. Wells book. And what day he would go back to and obviously we don't get Kim's perspective on this, but what do you think Kim would say is the turning point moment that maybe she would go back to? There's quite a few, but when I look back on them, I guess maybe the mailroom and it would just be Jimmy and Kim and they would go out with each other, fall in love and then get really, really great therapists. I would actually watch that show too. And Jimmy and Kim and the mailroom go to therapy. That's the full title. Was the prison moment the final shot that you did? Yes. That is the last thing we shot. Well, inside the prison smoking, the walk away from prison was shot on location and had to be done earlier. But the very last thing it was shot was us sharing a cigarette in the

"Ray, thanks so much for joining me. Thanks for having me. Well, before we dive really deep into the finale, I want to talk about Kim's new life in South Florida as seen in the penultimate episode. After leaving Jimmy, Kim moves there, she becomes a brunette and we see that she's working at a sprinkler manufacturer. She didn't die as some feared might happen, but she ended up leading a pretty mundane life. Did you get the mayonnaise? Well, here's the thing. They didn't have dukes. What did you think of that fate for Kim? What did it reveal to you about her? Well, it's a part of her has died. She is a shell of a person, in my opinion, and we were very particular in our discussions both with Peter gold as the showrunner in Vince Gilligan as the director and writer of that episode. We got very specific and very nuanced in our conversations about there is nothing wrong with her life, quote unquote. This is not some horrible fate that she's got to live through. It is only because we know what she could have been in her potential and what she wanted that it is so tragic. To have her not practicing law, to have her not be using her brain to her full potential or her skill set, it's perfectly fine as far as contentment, but everything is without passion. Well, it was also such a pivotal episode because we learn what was said in that call that she had with Jimmy. You have no idea what I did or didn't do. Okay. Why don't you turn yourself in? Deena's how you're the one with the guilty conscience, huh? What is stopping you? Brings in the ground. Mike's in the ground. It was obviously a very jarring call for her because it sort of crystallized how deeply Jimmy has gotten into this life of deception. Enough to finally make her feel ready to tell all. And she flies back to Albuquerque and signs an affidavit about what really happened to Howard Hamlin. What did you think about that turning point for her? Pivotal. And when Vince and I were doing the scenes that lead up to that phone call happening, we talked about, can you see Kim there? Prior to that birthday song moment in the phone call. When you can tell that there is Kim in there somewhere, the Kim that we know. And we said like, it's possible that it was performative when she first got there, but this has been years. It's all of the Breaking Bad years. And I think she has become content, not deliriously happy, but content would deciding this is all I deserve. And I'm going to make the best of it. But that's not going to ever extinguish the fact that she had and has a passion for the law. I think she still maintains a love for Jimmy. And within that phone call there is, yes, she's telling him to turn herself in and we can only assume she's caught wind in newspaper articles if not everything he's done specifically, but he's on the run from the feds. He was aiding and abetting someone who assassinated people. And killed other people by just collateral damage. And I think it is out of love that she's saying you can't have this can't be much of a life, like turn yourself in. And when Jimmy says, well, what about you, Kim smart enough to know that part of that is just defensive reactive talk. But I found it to be both yes, he has dared her and challenged her and spurred her on to take on her own conscience, but also that I guess the positive side of it, the little hopeful spark is, it's maybe the first time she thought about maybe I don't have to live a life of this hair shirt and this penance of not that she'll come back joyously happy. And we see that she doesn't, but it is a moment for her to think like maybe there is a way to alleviate my conscience and be back to living some kind of life that is more truthful because the seed of her that knows that the life she's living right now is not truthful either. Is there. And that's what I think he sparks. Well, I want to talk about the finale. I mean, Jimmy is caught thanks to Marion. And we're reminded again of his mastery of the law and manipulation and his desire to protect Kim, just as he manages to negotiate a good deal for himself, including this amazing stipulation for one pint of chocolate chip ice cream. He winds up throwing that all away when he learns that Kim has confessed to Howard's death. And at his sentencing hearing, he implicates himself to save Kim, saying that he played a pivotal role in Walter white's operation and the web of lies in crime that came from that. How did you feel about that sort of turn when you first read the script? I think that a lot of things about the finale are very purposefully left open for interpretation. I personally think that he was saving himself that Kim always saw. That is possibly a true self free of what other people tell you you are. Because I also think that Kim, even when she comes completely clean in the penultimate episode, there's one lie she's still tells. Even though she doesn't want to be a liar anymore and that is she says if he is in fact still alive about salt. She knows he's alive. She could totally tell the feds to go ahead and tap her phone because he'll probably call again. She doesn't. She stopped short of making his life worse. So when ADA Eriksen, played by the wonderful Julie pearl, calls and says that Jimmy plans on implicating her in things that she did not do that are going to actually be there will be legal ramifications for. I think it hurts Kim and infuriates him that he would cross that line because I think that her not crossing that line herself was the love that's still there. So then what happens in the courtroom I just think is a journey for Kim going from fury and just absolute shock that he would do this to realizing, oh, you just did this to get me here. You're not going to implicate me in anything. And then realizing that he's going to confess not just to crimes, but to these very real feelings that he's had about chuck and finally sort of letting his profound grief come to the surface, she knows that's a real hem. I think she's horribly sad that it's resulting in an even larger prison sentence than it might have been before. I don't think she wishes him to be in prison for that long. At all, but I don't think Kim could live with herself if she thought this was a gift for her. I personally don't think what he's doing is to save her from being implicated. She has already confessed to exactly what she did. Yeah. There's nothing Jimmy can save her from that. Yeah. But I do think that those last moments in the courtroom are the two of them seeing each other without masks like they used to. Yeah. Well, the closing moments of the finale show Kim visiting Jimmy in prison. What do you think happens when Kim leaves that prison? Do you think she visits? Do you think she visits him often? Does she rebuild her life as a lawyer in Florida or somewhere else? Does the ponytail ever come back? What do you think happens?

"rhea" Discussed on Sex With Emily

"To struggle a lot with staying focused during sex and my mind would wander to all sorts of different places. I took your advice on meditation and breath control and it really helped. However, something I still struggle with is overthinking about what I'm gonna do next. I find myself wondering if she would like that. What's she going to be into? What's going to turn her on? How am I going to execute it? And then there's some time of me just working up the courage to do it. It all works stress me out just enough that I can't focus on what's happening with my body. Do you have any advice on how to work through this? So what I'm hearing is with your partner, you want to be a really good lover to her. And as a result of that, you're focusing a lot on being a perfect lover and what's going to turn her on, which is really great to be to care about those things, but then in the process we're losing your own erotic energy. And putting it all towards your partner and they get back to you and you're stressed out. So this is where I would start. I love love that you have a meditation practice and that's been helpful. Now, meditation is all about being mindful. That's what meditation is. We think it's such a fancy, we got a meditate hours a day. It's truly about what seeing in the moment. What am I feeling in the moment? What am I tasting in the moment? What am I smelling? Just think about the senses. That's a great way to think about mindfulness. When we do that, it immediately has this wonderful effect of instantly dropping us into the present moment. Then you're mindful. Challenges, we often think I'm gonna be mindful for the next 5 minutes. And then you get to the first 15 seconds and you forget that you're being mindful. It is something that over time you can strengthen those muscles, which is why I love that you're doing meditation. But here's another thing I think that would really help you. Since you're so focused on your partner, what if you both started a practice together? And started to develop the same skill set. Being mindful and being present to what's happening in the moment. Now the fun thing here is you can even do that during sex, and by sex I don't mean just foreplay and the actual act of sex. You know, sex can mean so many things. It's how we get turned on how we connect and how we get aroused. You can start a tantric sex practice with your partner. First create a sacred space. So turn your phones off, set up your room, so you feel good about it. You're sitting on the bed, your laundry is put away, and you don't have any distractions. And then I want you to start eye gazing or soul gazing as I call it with tantric practices. I mean, think about it. You could sit and look into your partner's eyes and the thing that's so great about that is it could be it's really revealing yourself to your partner and they're revealing themselves to you. And while some of you might think that staring into someone's eyes is just terrifying. You'll find that after a few moments that it's something that you're really going to feel perhaps more connected to your partner than you ever have. It's sort of an incredible practice. And it's okay if you laugh or it's uncomfortable. Next thing I want to do is when after staring to each other's eyes, I want you to place both of your hands on your heart. And then you're going to keep deep breath in. Maybe take two. Make this your own. And then with your leaving your left hand on your own heart, I want you both to take your right hands and put it on your partner's heart, okay? Left hand's on your heart and right hand is on your partner's heart. And then I want you to just start breathing. You can do a deep breath, belly breathing or using your diaphragm. And that's just when you're sitting or lying down in a super comfortable place and you put your hands on your belly. You kind of relax your entire body. And then you want to breathe in really slowly through your nose. And it's important to hear keep your mouth closed and breathe in through your nose. Cool thing about this, as you start to do that, you're going to start to feel your lungs, fill up with air and inflate. It's sort of like a balloon. And you're going to feel this on your belly, your belly is going to start to inflate. This is also practice. It took me a while to learn because a lot of us including myself were shallow breathers. But there are so there are so many benefits to learning to actually breathe through your diaphragm. I still practice this on a daily basis. So you don't want to get tripped up on it. Any breath is going to serve you here. And the really cool thing about tantric practices, if you're staring into their eyes and your heart is connected and you both start breathing, however you really want to breathe. You can try breathing with your belly. You'll find that your breath is gonna start to synchronize. And when that happens, it is this incredible connection that you're gonna feel with your partner and you're not gonna be able to be in your head. You won't be thinking. What do I do next? What's gonna turn my partner on? Do I look silly? You're both gonna have this divine intimate connection. And I believe that this is the sole connection that so many people are craving, you know, sometimes we think I want sex all the time or why is my partner doing going down anymore? And all these things are valid. Why is my partner initiating sex? But I think at the end of the day, we're not craving sex as much as we're creating as we're craving intimacy. And I think that tantric work, the tantric practices simply staring into each other's eyes and breathing. It's going to help you Rhea, get out of your head and into that deep sulfur conduction that you want with your girlfriend. And I'm hoping hoping that you're with a partner that's gonna be aligned that's gonna want to try it. Now I know some of you are might have already lost you with what diaphragm and staring into their eyes, I'm out. So if you don't want to do any of that, maybe you just say to your.

"Certain parties might think differently about the vaccines there actually has been like an anti science movement that precedes even the pandemic itself where we saw certain populations subject to and then spread disinformation about science in general that during this last administration got picked up at the very beginning of the pandemic that from the highest office in the country. We had people undermining the severity of dacoven pandemic. Even when you know leader evidence came out saying that they actually knew how severe things be that they knew how deadly what a deadly rest cova might pose. So i think what makes it hard now. Is that those seeds have been sown. Not just you know right now for the past few months since the vaccines have been now for the past few years During this past administration and so kind of teasing that out and undoing that work and trying to get to the bottom of where anti-science rhetoric and political beliefs come from. I think is a much bigger more challenging question than the more the some. What more simple question of like halfway get people just back warm and i you know i. I love the conversation. The work that you're doing there and how you're bringing it to communities and having community members are people who look like the communities that they're going into have these conversations really for just about every conversation we have when you have a trusted messenger when you have someone from the community is going to be that much more effective. I mean it's in our political work if we're canvassing going door to door in in our communities when it's someone that's a neighbor could be. They don't have to be an expert but they share that common bond is just so much more effective. So i i'm seeing. I'm i'm trying to be a little hopeful. Because i am seeing more people who were very hesitant to get the vaccine before because the political information start to respond to some of these republicans who are going national. Tv and some of the governors and mayors who republicans who really telling vaccinated people how poor unvaccinated people. How important is to get vaccinated now. And starting to have that conversation locally. So i don't really know. More point is except i really loved the project. You're doing because. I think that's how we really reach. Each other is on the ground locally one to one absolutely i think that is what we found over the course of this kind of national vaccination dissemination strategy that at the very beginning you can just use mass media messaging that might catch people on tv or on the radio to encourage everyone to get.

"Some mistakes which i think pretty much every elected did during the pandemic And some of his more attention because of who he is and big the state is but he he just passed an incredible budget for the state of california that is going to help people And not just prevent them from going into poverty but let them up out of poverty. The state of california is paying the back rent For all the people who Weren't able to pay their rent. During the pandemic the landlords are going to get the money that is owed to them So they're they're making everyone even so good work. All around. this is not deserved. This is all political games totally political games and and all that stuff that you just talked about his true but also people think that this is a recall about his pandemic response. It is not. It was actually initiated Way before the corona virus by A group of republicans based out of orange county. One of them. Who was on chris hayes. Last week talking about the The recall effort and said we definitely need to get gray davis out of office. And and and chris hayes was like i think you make gavin newsom but it just shows you like of course. Gray davis was the democratic governor who was effectively recalled. And the reason. We ended up with arnold schwarzenegger as our governor who won that recall effort so same. Republicans who have just are using any tool. They can to thwart the will of the voters are trying to do the same thing with gavin newsom so We're gonna we're gonna stop it. The big difference in this recall is that it was such a circus last time around the win. Davis was recalled and schwarzenegger was elected. There were so many. Weirdoes running This time there's like they're going to be seven pages worth of candidates on this on this ballot I think the most recognizable name is caitlin jenner That's why this might be on people's radar because she is running as a republican but At least it hasn't been the circus. It was last time. Yeah yeah you're right it. It hasn't been. I don't know if that's good or bad. I think at this point. We need more awareness about this. We need to make sure that democrats show up because the phone calls we've been making are really Simple calls but a lot of people just don't know about it and we're like just hey you're going to get a ballot in the mail overly wins that happening. Yeah august sixteenth. They drop and just vote. No oh yeah okay. I'll i'll do them an easy phone calls but people don't know so we need to make those calls all right good good action item. The second action item we have is another easy one. It's steve's pod blasts summer where we're asking you to get three friends to subscribe to this podcast. So tell them about it. Let them know what actions you've taken because of it or white great information you've gotten from it and encourage them to subscribe and listen and how fun the hosts are. "Is a california centric to do list. But anybody can. Anybody can help out. And it's important that we all get involved in this. We have a lot of listeners in california and I'm here in california. Mariah used to be here in california. This has national repercussions to. Of course i'm talking about the recall election The gavin newsom facing. You know it's getting tight. There has been some polling recently. That led me to bring this to our to do list because i really want our listeners to help out with this and volunteer. If you can there's been some polls show about a fifty percent Bargin here which is tight. We we need to get people to vote no on this recall they just need a little over that fifty percent threshold If they don't if he doesn't get that there are So many crazy candidates that could literally become governor with just twenty percent of the vote in this special recall election. Which will undoubtedly be a low turnout election. So it's really really pivotal that we get the word out and make sure that democrats show up. The vote is ends basically. The election is on september fourteenth but early voting with ballots being mailed to everyone happens starting on august sixteenth which is two weeks away not even two weeks away. So we're gonna post a link to a phone bank for the california democratic party where you can make calls to voters and let them know that their ballots coming let them know just to vote no on that first question if you support the recall or not we do not support that recall and And let's make sure we keep gavin newsom and a democrat in control of the governorship of california. Yeah this is. It doesn't feel may not feel like it has national implications like steve was saying this. Is this recall. Effort is funded by a bunch of trump's supporters who spent millions of dollars getting signatures to initiate it. So it really is part of the big picture that we're all working against and i. It's it's to me to me. It's not deserved kevin. Newsome has been A a decent governor for california. He has you know..

The New Campaign To Remedy COVID-19 Vaccine Doubt Within Black Communities Online

"Of ad campaigns aimed at promoting vaccines in debunking myths about them. Last week, the Ad Council launched its ad featuring four former presidents, including Barack Obama. You will protect you and those you love from this dangerous and deadly disease. Biden administration plans to ramp up its own vaccination campaign in the coming weeks. Many of these campaigns and to reach a black community hit hard by both covert 19 and disinformation. NPR's Yuki Noguchi reports. As far back is nine months ago, pediatrician and health activist Rhea Boyd noticed Social Media Post citing false information about the safety of vaccines in development before any of the vaccines had reached emergency use authorization. We already saw that disinformation targeting black communities online, the State Department since blamed Russian intelligence operatives for spreading some of those rumors. But at the time, Boyd says, it wasn't clear where it was coming from, You know, it would just look like a user with sow seeds of doubt. It doesn't look like a campaign for misinformation. It looks like a bunch of users who are sharing their own conversations about what they think about the vaccine and what seems like insider information boy decided to push back with her own campaign. She framed hers, too, as a conversation, one based on questions, her family and neighbors were already asking, she says Many of the questions people have about vaccines are universal. But many people in communities of color can't get answers because they lack access to medical care. Boyd works with the Kaiser Family Foundation and historically black colleges. This month, they posted a syriza videos, including one featuring comedian Kamau Bell, posing questions to black medical professionals. First question the vaccine happened fast, like
