"A 2000 meals continues to have its effect on the on our elected officials. And it does that slowly. Would have done it faster if this were if we were Democrats and this was the Democratic Party. They'd all be all over it. But with the Republicans, things move a little more slowly. So there was a woman that in activists who came up to us and said that she'd be willing to hand deliver copies of the DVD to every congressional office. So we were like, great. We provided her with the DVDs. They've been hand delivered. And the good thing about this is that you can now contact your congressman on congresswoman and say, hey, have you watched 2000 meals, we know that a DVD was delivered to your office. So somebody on your staff hasn't. And there's really no excuse. This is a film that's having a lot of discussion. It's a film that shows things that are very relevant to your own future and your party's future. So sit down with your team and watch it and make up your own your own mind. Now, the film was screened at the Texas Republican convention this past weekend, where was it honey in Houston? It was in Houston. And also there was a booth that was selling a DVDs. In fact, they ordered a thousand DVDs so the DVDs were flying. People were grabbing copies of it and there was great enthusiasm and really when people see the film it settles the issue. I mean, all this, all this, let's call it Philip a bumper Y, which is basically bogus ridiculous objections of these cab drivers going by the drop boxes, you know, all this kind of nonsense Filip bump, but you know what, vote trafficking is merely helping people to vote. So the Texas GOP watches the film and they're like, we get the picture. And so I'm not going to read from the resolution that was passed. By the largest GOP in the country. I'm just reading it as straight news. We reject the certified results of the 2020 presidential election, and we hold it acting president. Acting president, I love that. You know, when someone is appointed temporarily to a job, he's the acting CEO of Oracle. And until we find a real one. Tell them who Joe is and who Victoria is the little bio introduction if you would. Became the United States attorney for the District of Columbia under the tutelage of Ronald Reagan, one of the greatest moments of my life was to have him nominate me, became an independent counsel of the United States, investigating things for the U.S. government, worked on the hill for senator Charles Matthias on the judiciary committee, and have conducted a happy private practice. And we've tried to with your wife. Look out for the good. Hang on. We'll calm down. With my wife. Who is Victoria Townsend? Victoria, tell us, give us a likewise a little summation of your journey to date. Went to the Republican convention in 1980 and was marching for the ERA and this guy came up to me and said, what have you got there? And I said, well, I'm selling ER ERA GOP pins. I think in New York City, they're going to be. This is a blue city. Yeah. Yeah. New Jersey and Staten Island and Long Island. So it depends how it is. What? There's going to be a fight in the garden, I think. Did you see that recently when the NASCAR event, they were yelling fuck Joe Biden? Like they were chanting it. And you could hear a fault, Joe Biden. And then the announcer on NBC was like, they're training. We love Brendan. And we're like, let's go, Brandon. Yeah, let's go. Was there even a guy named Brendan there? Was that his name? Oh, she's just stupid. That's what they were. Let's go for it. "When I was in the room with him, even if there was 500 other people in the room, I felt like he was talking to me. My father had the same feeling, too. Being around him. But let me tell you something a little known secret. Bill Clinton took a lot of communication. I had a lot of communication help. I don't know if you remember when he was first getting into the political limelight. And he was at the Democratic National Convention. I don't know what year what that would have been. Probably in the 80s, mid 80s, late 80s, 20 cars and still had a television show then. And Bill Clinton talks so long at this. We democratic. I doubt if he was at the Republican convention. I know, why did I just say that? It wasn't all love back then between the Democrats Republicans either, but I doubt if he was at the convention. Anyway, he spoke at the convention for so long, they almost had to blew him off the stage. And he literally, he couldn't stop talking. His arms were flailing all over the place. He rambled. He made no sense. The speech was look it up. The speech goes down in history of one of the worst delivered of all times. So Bill Clinton went to work and got himself a excellent communications coach and worked with him for a very long time and Bill learned how to give great speeches, Bill learned how to be really wonderful in the public arena. And it is a skill that one could learn. Now, I also have to say that he has a lot of charisma and in person his whole life, one on one has had that ability to really look you in the eye and make you feel like you are the only person there. So that part of him is real authentic and natural, but he learned. I guess what I'm trying to say is you can learn how to be a phenomenal speaker. And it just takes your willingness to just.

"Come true for me, too, Because I believe I believe had you on his guess before, and I have gotten to know you socially and Through your runs for office. But here we can really get to know you all morning long, which we really are are doing and I'm really interested to hear your reaction as especially as a big trump supporter over the last five years. About what's going on in New York right now. Earlier in the week, we gave you sort of the update on where that race stands for Mayor of New York it looked like after the first round of vote tabulations that Eric Young. Eric Young is the Brooklyn bureau president, Borough president. Excuse me, um, was in the lead and and really looking, you know, dominant there. Excuse me, I said Eric Young Eric Adams. Excuse me, a dominant to get the nomination for the Democratic Party. But what they do is they have this. This drawn out ranked voting system is similar to what happened in Virginia. For the Republican Convention, where everybody ranks their preference. First choice. Second choice. Third choice and then as candidates are eliminated, mathematically that ballots are all re tabulated to see. Okay, well, this person voted for candidate X as their first choice, but Candidate X is no longer in the running because they were mathematically eliminated from winning. So who was their second choice, and as candidates get eliminated, they have to recount all of the ballots again and again, So it's taking forever to figure out who the Democrats nominee is. And yesterday when a round of tabulations were announced, it looked as though Mr Adams was now in a dead heat. With a woman who in the first round only had like 19% of the vote. And here's the best part throughout this whole process. Mr. Adams, a Democrat, is calling out voter irregularities. Possible fraud. Possible ballot stuffing. He's It sounds like one of those crazy, right wing insurrectionist after the 2020 election, Liz. Yes. So don't forget I went to Columbia for college. So New York politics come on now. Oh, yeah you're talking about, you know, boss tweed man, Like they invented this stuff, like, come on a little bit of the history of of voter fraud in the damage Specifically the Democratic machine in New York. Yeah, like they invented the thing. Come on now. So, um, everything anything that happens in New York came in. Nobody can be surprised like nobody. And that's another reason. I mean, again. You said that I was a trump supporter. For five years. I was only Trump supporter after the nomination. Was Clinton. Sure, Okay, you know, and and I think the reason why folks in New York New and appreciate President.

I disagree must abide by the precedent set by george washington list. I make myself a tyrant. Did you know. I served the confederacy. Pardon not by choice. Obviously during the war. I was conscripted into service by the rebels. Forced under the bayonet to toil against my own liberation. They made me build forts in charleston. They made my wife stitch-up their confederate. Grace we tried our damnest to keep our heads down but often than not. They gave me the lash no matter what i did and they gave my wife far worse than that so i got her out. We escaped in the dark of night fled charleston and took a boat to commuter. You made a nice life there. I opened a barbershop and cut. Richmond's here on my wife sold dresses to their wives but when the war was one we left all that behind we came back to the only home we've ever known on the promise of freedom. Only it was not freedom waiting for us. It was slavery without the shackles. These rebels are given us the lashed they gave it to us in the field as slaves they give it to us in the streets as free men and now they are on their way to washington to give it to us in the halls of power. They are the times mr president. If the democrats take back the white house and seventy six and everything. We've done the amendments. The enforcement acts mr langston civil rights. Because i'm very proud of being an astrologer like i'm i really have grown into being very proud of it and proud of my ability to suspend i very rigid beliefs for a minute to get into it and not being able to express that it is not. It's not like my favorite way to live My son is on my ascendant. Or my progress on. I should say his on my son and so it's probably only a matter of time now probably just going to emerge the to come out of the big old closet but right now. I'm not ready. You you talking about secondary progressive hitting the ascendant. That always reminds me of my like biggest example of that that now unfortunately is like comes to mind the first anytime anybody says thou which is like Twenty sixteen secondary progressed. I believe it was the sun and donald. Trump's chart hit his ascendant at the republican convention when he became the nominee in like emerged from the battles of like the republican primaries to thwart his enemies. And like you know eventually become president so basically. You're right now. What you're saying but in an astrological context we can only hope that i am as successful at what i wanna do as he was unfortunately successful at what he did. So yeah let's hope i'm successful. What i wanna do of merging all of my daddies. But until then i hide in the shadows. A bit okay. Well there's nothing nothing wrong with that. It's a little harder. And i sometimes tell people if they don't have to do that not to use a pseudonym because sometimes like your your name and different things becomes part of your Work as an astrologer is it sometimes becomes partially based on your irreputable and people's familiarity with you so i said more for people that set up not a secondary name but use more.

Let's go Toe, William Calling from us Pray. Florida William, You're on the Chris Plante show. Hey, Good morning, Chris. Hey, will you Thanks for taking my call was Interested in the hearings on Capitol Hill yesterday about the white supremacists threat in America and early in April, there was supposed be a white lives matter. Rallies across the U. S. And I read A couple of articles on it one on NBC News and one in from Forbes, and both of whom said that nobody came out to these White lives matter. Rally. NBC News said they thought the poor showing underscores how Countries, unpopular and disorganized. Extremist movements haven't driven underground by increase Caribbean by the media, law enforcement agencies, etcetera, and the first thought I had was. Well, maybe nobody showed up. There is Because there's just not that many white supremacists. Maybe that's the reason. Why do they think they've been driven underground? And it's these rallies. Don't have anybody showing up. Perhaps it's the guy that white supremacy is just not that prevalent anymore. And the U. S. That's all I want to bring up. Well, you know you're 100% right? And it's and it's obvious. As you know the nose on Bernie Sanders face. It is just it couldn't be more obvious that there's whole notion that the main threat to America is white supremacists. The most ridiculous thing I've heard perhaps, and my entire lifetime it is. It's just absurd. You know they first of all they call, for example, the proud boys, which the problem has been banned in Canada. Now Canada doesn't have free speech. They don't have a First Amendment. Not nearly as free as the United States America. They're America's Hat, America's largest national park, but they don't have the freedoms that we have here. They banned. The proud boys has a terrible, racist organization. Now the head of the proud boys. There's a guy named Enrique Terrio, who is what The New York Times would call a black Hispanic. Remember George Zimmerman was a white Hispanic because they wanted to make him white on because they're Racists at The New York Times. But Enrique Terrio is a Cuban American from Florida who is black, and he's the head of the proud boys. I ran into some proud boys in Washington. There was some big rally going on, and I was down there and a group of young guys and one of the one guy that that's better there, just minding their own business. But one guy kind of when we were walking by. I was with my best girl completely mellow situation. Eight Proud boys have been stabbed by leftists in Washington, D C and mob violence against the proud wise, you know, in their whole thing is their Western show. Veniste's right Western. That means that this guy and I just complete my story. The guy with the black and a bit of yellow shirt. Proud boy were walking by and I kind of looked at a guy put up his fist to do a fist bump with me, and I did a little fist bump with him. And he said the West is the best. And I said, Yeah, the West is the best now the guy that did that was a black guy. His black kind is one of the proud was, but I keep reading in the end. The leader of the proud boys is Enrique Terrio. You know, it doesn't sound like Joe Biden. Something like that is that you know, he's a black guy whose family is Cuban American. And, um, and I keep hearing these things that these terrible whites, but But you know my city Washington D. C. Our nation's capital was boarded up downtown. In some places. They're still boarded up because they've gone out of business. But downtown was boarded up for months because we were afraid in Washington that when President Trump won re election handily on Election Day That left wing mobs were going toe loot and burn and SEC the city because, you know, based on experience. They had been doing that all over the country. Now we've had riots from coast to coast. We've had thousands of police alone injured, not to mention the citizens. Non police injured that police their citizens, too, of course, and but they you know the non police people injured and attacked and, you know mobs of people attacking Trump supporters on Inauguration Day and in the inaugural balls the night before violently attacked the fourth night of the Republican Convention, the South Lawn of the White House. Senator Rand Paul on his wife and a lot of other people were attacked by these violent mobs of Democrats and you know, and again, my city. My neighborhood was looted twice. I got you know, Example, after example of the violence in Washington, D C all perpetrated by lefties with the single example of about two hours on January 6th, where certainly dozens of people engaged in criminal activity and assaulted police and should be held accountable. But I also believe that the people that laid siege to the White House for three days should be held accountable. And on CNN congressional hearings about that. I don't see FBI investigations into the Three day siege of the White House. I don't see homes in Alaska being raided by the FBI, which happened last week in an effort to get Nancy Pelosi's laptop computer back. They didn't because the people whose home they raided didn't have Nancy Pelosi's laptop, but they raided their home anyway. I guess you know, the good news is they didn't shoot their dog or shoot the residents of the House. On all of that, And I just keep looking for examples. Ou Charlottesville? Yeah, that was that was ah, Bad moment. That was pretty stupid stuff, and I got to tell you another.

Epic Times headline federal prisons placed under full on lockdown in light of current events. So not only do we have the United States military and former 26,000 National Guard troops deployed at the U. S capital to make sure That the inauguration at the peaceful transition of power to explain Somehow, Donald Trump is thwarted in whatever effort He's running to make sure Biden doesn't get inaugurated, right. That's what we're supposed to You really worried about? Another shutting down prisons. Full on lockdown and light a current events, quote unquote. I talked about this yesterday, too, but they just keep adding on to this. It makes no sense unless Unless the fact that all of the National Guard is in the swamp makes them unable to respond to a prison riot. Locking down prisons because they can't stop a prison riot because they've got people that normally deployed in that. Deploy them. They Capitol grounds. We have so many prison riots and always, I think this is just The lengths to which these people on the left are going to create all of these false images. And and the false image basically, is that you are unstable. You pose. An existential threat to this country. You could go off at any moment. You've got bombs secret it away. Who knows what you have planned? They can't take any chances. They got unemployed. The National Guard. They got it locked down prisons. They got to do whatever they can, because you Trump cultist. You are in sane now. The left is telegraphing that they're afraid of prisoners. They're afraid of the police. They're afraid of National guard. They are afraid of Military and Secret service and Trump voters. And we might as well throw truth in there. Now I got to go to the audio soundbite. Roster gets started there. Grab sound bite number one. Mark McKinnon. I tell you little story about Mark. I had never met Mark McKinnon. And I don't think I ever have actually. Which is strange. Given the story that I'm about to tell you The Republican National Convention one year was held in the way of our work. Forget the year snugly you might remember was the Democratic convention. Was there Bunch Times the Republican Convention was in New York. This is Like I still lived in New York when this happened so that this would be prior. To 1997. I believe It doesn't really matter when I wish I could remember it just Close the loop on the story. But Peggy Noonan and I decided to have A dinner at Patsy's. The night before the convention was to start. It was a No, I was just, uh It was an open invitation to anybody in the Republican leadership to show up. It was purely a social thing. It was not Designed to be anything official. And It was well attended. A lot of people showed up. I was kind of surprised by how many who did And one of them who showed up was Mark McKinnon. At the time this would have been. This would have been George W. Bush or thereabouts because McCain and ran all of the media for George W. Bush. He purchased it all, he decided where it would be purchased. He decided what the ads were going to be. He was the media maven for George W. Bush in both 2000 and 2004. I just got a note The dinner was 2004 this, okay? So okay, So I see I've lost my my brother had to be before 1997. So I had moved out of New York and I went back there for this. Is what happened. So, uh, No. I've not seen Peggy Noonan since Uh, any rate We had this big table set up. It passes. It was a square table took up much of the second floor. Patsy's on 56 between eighth and Broadway. And so McKinnon walks in and there's a guy friend of mine. Comes over and sits down and points out. McKinnon do you know who that is?.

Because we see it all over the place. Mark Levin on his show over the weekend Life, Liberty and the dividend Livin Life Liberty to live in. Was talking about that. In this case, he was talking about violence. Hover, buddy. Everybody is talking about the violence of storming the cabin loose so violent, of course, do not talking about the violence on the other side that we saw all summer long. And, of course, just reminds us that if we're going to denounce violence, that's great. But can we denounce it all? We should oppose all violence. All violence. Whether it's Capitol Hill, which is an outrage, whether it's the White House with it's an outrage, whether it's a federal courthouse and pour them, which is an outrage. Whether it's people leaving the last night of the Republican Convention, that is an outrage, all forms of violence, all of it. Should be condemned, and I condemn it all, and I have always condemned it all, but everybody has it. We have media organizations. Talk about mostly peaceful protesters, while buildings burning behind them while people are throwing Molotov cocktails while cop cars are burning Cops of being hit over the head with skateboards and hit with baseball bats and you see these Thies areas taken over in these various cities and so forth. I hope I can give a speech the other day. After the capital was breached a speech about unity He said. The president needs to step up. All through the summer. People were begging Joe Biden to speak out against black lives matter and antifa, and he wouldn't do it. Then, finally when he did it in a one or two sentence. Passing comment. People said, See he spoke out against it. We need people to speak out against violence. This is a big problem in our country. There's no question about it. "A moment here. One. Williams, watching this as well and wanted seems to have settled into a moment here where there are hundreds, perhaps thousands gathered on the Capitol steps and I don't know what happened inside, but the reports were not good. Your observations as we watch this together now. You know, I heard Kevin McCarthy and others who are inside the building bill say that there is more sadness than fear. On. That's the way I feel about this. I just can't believe this is you know our America. It is just tragic and they shouldn't be going on and you look at it and you should see that the Capitol police would be sufficient in number and able to do this, but apparently they didn't anticipate. The severity of the mob action. And so they didn't have either the numbers or the precautions in place. They've now had some backup from the city police here, the Metropolitan Police Department. On as you heard from others. Nancy Pelosi, the speaker of the House, along with Mayor Muriel Bowser, the district of Columbia have asked for additional support and, of course, I think that there is going to be some action, especially as Bill You were right on target. I mean, the nightfall will present another set very troubling dynamics not only if the mob remains in place, but in terms of trying to get them to peacefully. Move on, But you know you here and I just wanted to be clear with people you hear Republican leadership. Kevin McCarthy, the minority leader and the speaker, the minority leader. The house say this is so on American. This is not who we are. And again, you would think that respect for police. You know, the blue lives matter and all that you would think that law and order would call would carry the day here, but obviously the passions have run over. And had run over in such a way that It pains me to say to you that there is gunfire inside our capital. This is really the brink of anarchy and you've got to ask. Where is the president on? Why is he attacking the vice president and saying the vice president, his vice president lacks courage. That's just not It's not, you know, a supply tickle. Answer me say this is way beyond politics way beyond politics at this juncture, and we need to understand that calm is of the essence and that people should respect each other and respect that idea. Have a constitutional transition, which is what was going on. There was debate about accepting the electoral college vote. That's totally within the realm of possibility, except to even it was just a formality. At this juncture. But this now has even stopped that this has been a breach of our constitutional process. It's that serious one. There was the sun sets of 501 by the way in Washington. The reason I make that point is when we were in Washington. For the Republican convention, Pseudo as it was given the cove in time for.

Behind Trump's Lies

"When you look at our neighbors compared to what's going on in Europe and other places but we're doing well choice between trump boom and biden lockdown. He wants to lock down the country dismantle your police departments, dissolve our borders borders, they want open borders I think every single low enforcement group in the countries endorses we gave you the biggest tax cut in history by far and Biden is proposing the biggest tax hike in history. So. All of that was wrong and Ashley on your part. You just did a deep dive on veterans choice and how the President again wrongly claims credit for that and insists on it and will continue to apparently how do we live in this era? How do you as a White House correspondent cover this president what do you have to hold it against? Well I I think this looking at those two stories mine in the Times The Times took the macro looking at all of them. This truth one rally I sort of buried in on the micro in what we describe as an anatomy of a singular live very briefly, this is the president signed an update to be choice known as the mission acts. The did expand Va Choice But va choice was passed and signed under Barack Obama was co sponsored. By John McCain and even the mission act that trump past was officially named after John. McCain but trump has gone in and basically said, he did the a choice Obama had nothing to do with it. John McCain didn't have anything to do with it. So one way we cover it was to really drill down and explain ventures that he was telling this falsehood this lie but the reasons why he's doing it because he is surrounded by aides to enable him. On willing and able to tell him the truth in one of the reasons he does it is because of the psychology of lives, which is the more they repeated the more they start to feel true in one striking thing I found was that the RNC, the Republican convention, a number of speakers were drafting their speeches. They told the speechwriters in the president's team they wanted to put a line about what? Donald Trump had done NBA choice because they actually believed what he was saying he'd gotten it. So the either the they believed this falsehood in Bay, wanted to repeat it themselves. So that's why the president doesn't because it is proof stunningly effective for him in the way we grapple with it is, is we write about it in tell this story in in many different ways graphically on with words in e

Armed and Dangerous: America's New Law and Order

"Number has the phrase law and order is invoked by a president come to mean. So clearly, it's opposite illegality and disorder starting with the first illegality like. Twice on Wednesday Donald Trump encouraged his north Carolina followers to cast two ballots one by mail and one in person it in early and then go and vote. At of it's not tabulated you vote and the vote is GonNa Count You can't let them take you vote away. These people are playing dirty politics. In some states you can ask for your mail in ballot to be invalidated but intentionally voting twice is fraud nfl any in most states, the president defended seventeen year old kyle written house who traveled with an assault rifle from his Illinois home to Kenosha. Wisconsin to enforce law and order, and now stands charged with six criminal counts including first degree, intentional homicide, first degree, reckless homicide, recklessly endangering safety and possession of a dangerous weapon is a minor. He shot to protesters to death and wounded a third but to trump, he is the victim he was trying to get away from them. I guess looks like any fell and then they very violently attacked him. And it was something that we're looking at right now and it's under investigation but I guess he was in very big trouble he would have been. He probably would have been killed this but one week after his Republican convention showcased accused felons mark and Patty mccloskey who brandished guns at peaceful protesters in front of their saint, Louis home and who are now official. GOP. Spoke gunman for the false narrative of White America under siege, they're not satisfied with. Spreading chaos and violence into our communities they want to abolish the suburbs altogether by ending single family homes zoning this forced rezoning would bring crime lawlessness and low quality apartments and now thriving suburban neighborhoods lie after lie after lie from the husband and wife rich lawyer militia from the trump campaign and from the Hague factory of Fox News when the writers come for your town. And they're coming. We'll biden and his team enough to stop them. And the answer is clearly no these are people are now crossing state lines clearly, and this is being organized using the Internet they will burn down your cities and tell you you did it. And if you don't accept that judgment, maybe they'll send them to your house the same race baiting law and order rhetoric whistled by Richard Nixon and Ronald. Reagan now literally weaponized. Let's just put aside lethal pandemic denial in paranoid Cunanan fantasies at least for a second and considered trump's warnings of the quote dark shadows and deep state moles controlling Joe. Biden. Fact-checking President Trump's acceptance speech at the GOP convention

"I in our history, a political convention on the South Lawn of the White House, the People's house thousands of cheering supporters on this pandemic summer night in mid August watched as donald trump among other things formally accepted his party's renomination during a long speech on this night his name. Spelled out in fireworks he followed a series of taped messages the four day Republican convention now over there is his name again. The president talked up our mortality rate tonight though in truth over thirty, five, hundred Americans have died just during. These four days as we watch this as we watched the spectacle. I digress, let's bring in our friends in our New York studio anchoring our coverage and watching it all low these many nights racial Matto Nicole Wallace Joy Reid and I know among other things we have a lot to talk about you of a special guest standing by as well. D-. Brian Thank you. Mary trump is going to be joining us again. Just a moment I do want to give my colleagues here a little bit of a chance to respond to what we just saw. If I think it might be helpful if I just did like a real real quick speed read auctioneers fact check yet just in some of the top lines, we can clear those out of the way. This was more than an hour long speech by the president we think this is the second longest. Acceptance Speech ever given by an American president topped only by the other one that he gave in two thousand sixteen. There was a lot and a lot of it was wrong sense that factually wrong just to be clear a few things. There are not any approved effective lifesaving therapies for corona virus right now there are. There's a lot of hope but there is no. Proven efficacy for convalescent plasma for any other therapy despite with the president said tonight, we also don't have the testing system in the world we have a disastrously failed testing system. We also have bluntly the largest and deadliest virus epidemic. In the entire world, we have four percent of the world's population and twenty five percent of the world's deaths. When the president said tonight, we have pioneered the fatality rate said that wrong? I don't he was blundering there, but he might have been correct in that blender. Joe. Biden. Does Not Support Abortion at the time of birth the New York Police Department has not endorsed Donald Trump's reelection. There have not been three hundred new miles of wall built card into homeland, security his Homeland Security Department. As of this summer, it's been more like three miles of wall built. It was Barack, Obama who signed the Veterans Choice Act. Our troops are not coming home. There are more US troops overseas. Now than when he took office, he has not ended any of these wars that he's supposedly vowed to end Joe Biden has not promised to abolish the production of energy. In the United States Joe Biden will not bulldoze the suburbs This talk about pre existing conditions in the weather and people can get healthcare. The Republican Party in the trump administration explicitly is in court right now, fighting to abolish the protections for people with preexisting conditions that were part of the affordable care act. That's going to be before the Supreme Court exactly one week after the election on November tenth, they are fighting to abolish protections for people with preexisting conditions also last but not least. President said tonight if for those of you who still drive have you looked at your gasoline bill have you noticed how low it is for those of us who do actually drive you don't get a bill for your gasoline. It's not how it works. Nobody males you bill and says, here's what you pay for gas at gas pump. If. You drive

Biden says Trump is 'rooting for more violence, not less'

"To pile on Democratic nominee Joe Biden tonight with his own Republican convention acceptance speech. One goal is to accuse Biden of turning a blind eye to violence that grows out of protests in places where police have shot black Americans under questionable circumstances. Pop, Costantini says. Biden is responding the vice president saying two Americans What's been happening with protests and violence now will be magnified in a Biden presidency. The hard truth isthe You won't be safe in Joe Biden's America. The former vice president has denounced violence and in an interview with MSNBC noted who's running the nation, accusing the president of pouring gasoline on a fire with racial division rhetoric. The problem we have right now is we're in Donald Trump's America. They're looking for more violence and more disruption because it helps him politically. Mike Pence vows to 'make America great again, again

"The Republican see their presidential nominee for twenty twenty four give his first campaign speech last night. The Vice President Mike Prints told his party's national convention that they will make America. Great again again in this election, it's. Not so much whether America will be more conservative or more liberal. More Republican or more Democrat. The choice in this election. is whether America remains America some already looking at him not as a dutiful deputy but as a man maneuvering into position for the next presidential election or watching his speech was Angela, Wilson is professor of politics at the University of Manchester in the United Kingdom and the US policy political commentator joins me now a very good morning to you Angela. Good morning so making. America. Great again again, your verdict on that slogan please. Not. Particularly Catchy. Is it. but you know Mike Pence's not not typically known for being done amock or An inspirational speaker so It's not surprising that is His final comment. There was not typically inspiration. What he did say was those it the this election will decide what America becomes A. Thus is something that you could argue happens it absolutely every single election but in particular, he had to try to strike a really really neat balance between. Saying that America can become. Great. Again again. Having obviously gone through the coronavirus pandemic. Yes well for small America is. Completely divided in a way that certain ought never seen in in my observation. American politics over the last fifty years. and this both the Democratic National Convention last week. Republican, one, this week speaks to that division. They are both speaking to very, very different audiences in different voters. and. Mike Pence job. Followed that the that he did last night followed what was seen as a traditional job of the vice presidential candidate in that was first of all to be the attack dog. So at. The convention. The vice president is there to be an attack dog on the other party and he certainly did that in attacking Biden in all sorts of ways we can talk about. And secondly to speak to particular demographics and Mike Pence was chosen originally because he spoke to the Christian right demographic, which makes up about sixty to seventy percent of the Republican Party voters and again, he did that last night pointing out how trump has been a friend in his stood with them. So. So in that sense that he do his job yes he absolutely did his job it. Are we going to see a Mike Pence candidacy in twenty twenty, four, I suspect he will try but I don't really think he'll get that far. Let's have a look then at the attack dog approach that Joe Biden took He's he said, president trump set our nation on a path to freedom and opportunity from the very first day of this administration. He said Joe Biden we'll set America on a path of socialism and decline Frankly I didn't find that as shocking as it could have been because the whole point of the Republican convention has been quite a dark one to sort of warned the United States electorate against forces which could destroy this pasta freedom. Not, least it's also quite easy to say that durbar really isn't that much of a socialist at all. What we all thoughts on on his sort of attack. Biden. His attack on. Biden of interesting lady US Sanders words to attack by saying that. Abidin was going to implement some of the policies that Sanders thought was appropriate and so he used. Sanders words to attack by himself, but the the other areas in which he was able to attack Biden quite effectively keep in mind. He was at a military base when he was given when he was. Giving this this talk was to attack by non law and order and on military defense and those traditional conservative areas but also given the audience that he had that went over very well, and of course, given the context of what's going on. Across American cities that went over very well. So it's attack on Biden. CAPIT- in a way that was. About the military and about law and order, but it was certainly in the theme that had been set out Republican Party. Sorry. The Republican convention already that this was a clear contrast between well. Frankly Gordon Evil and evil being socialism or evil being a lack of law and order in our cities. As. Vice President he has. Trodden, very delicate path. There's a great article in The New York Times which describes his modus operandi and says the cumulative effect of Mr Pence's conduct is to create around him a kind of bubble of relative normalcy in which vice. President. Avoids Mr Trump's most explosive in defensive behaviour mostly by pretending it does not exist and he is getting a reputation as being the man who's accustomed to dialing back in private. What Donald Trump bellows in public is true. Well he certainly set himself office not condemning trump last night but as taking his leadership in in the kind of amusing, insane. Yes. What is different but nevertheless, he is a leader and what what pence is. Is as vice president is to to not a on one hand to not question drunk and trump's leadership and on the other hand to be a bridge between trump's Shall we say missteps? And a community that they absolutely have to have behind in, which is the Christian right voters, and that's a really delicate bridge. To to keep. Those voters on board with trump who's not known for his son shall we say moral? Well. If you have him acting as a bridge, the creator of a bubble keeping the electorate safe I mean, are we looking perhaps at the the the first speech of someone making a bid for the presidency in four years? While, he may have those dreams don't actually think that the Republican Party will be looking to him and twenty twenty four. Mike. Pence is not known for his dynamism is not known for his public speaking I thought it was interesting that they gave him an audience last night and the audience was obviously primed to to jump in. and. Be Shouting four years in that sort of thing. So he's kind of public speaking that definitely needs an audience not doesn't go over very well with the voting public. And secondly, I. Think you know. I if by wins and that still is a big if if Biden wins pence will be marred with the the trump presidency in the legacy of that, and I really think the Republican Party may be looking to someone. In the future that that is that is either completely away from the trump presidency, some light, a Ted, Cruz. Or you know I fully expect one of the leading. Candidates in twenty, four, Maith from trump's family. Tell us a little bit more about the the the parallel narrative what's going on in Wisconsin how much was that brought into day three of the convention. Well what was then what is unfortunate for both conventions that many of these speeches habit to have been taped and what we saw in day three of the convention was not all of the speeches were taped. So therefore, did not mention what was going on in terms of Wisconsin, but also in terms of the hurricane that's dot hit Texas Louisiana. And so Mike Pence's speech did stand out and that was able to address both of those those crisis One of the things you mentioned about what is what is His job here, delicate position that he calls trump various students put pinson charge of the corona virus response, and so he will be able at trump will be able to kind of label if it doesn't go well put that onto pence in his lack of leadership or his. Mistakes made but pence was very clear. Last night in this is one thing that I thought was rather shocking that America will have a vaccine by the end of this year. And that's a promise that certainly scientists star saying that we won't that. He won't be able to keep but he does this under the language of the that this will be a miracle that will happen. Tennis Elizabeth about the general polling figures. Now we've got Joe, Biden, Aheadon, what five or six is a key swing states. This is following the Democratic National Convention, but his numbers didn't rise perhaps as many thought they would and Donald Trump's approval rating has now bumped up particularly among white voters. Yes, I, mean I think previously elections there was a larger contending contented independent voters and so what you would see after the conventions was swaying. For each of the Party of those independent voters. But at the moment America is so divided along party lines that that. That that. Percentage of independent voters is is much smaller. And it's not surprising that at trump's upswing is going to be amongst white voters particularly when does riots happening and the black lives matter movement has put some not a lot. But some white voters concerned about what the future may fly finally Andrew you mentioned a moment ago that you think that the next presidential candidate from the Republicans could another trump who might that be? There's quite a. Rogues Gallery to choose from. Well, you know I grew up watching dynasty and the ewings in in Dallas and I will tell you there's nothing more intriguing than good family fight for leadership and so I think we'll all be interested to watch what happens they`re Both which ones end up running the leadership of the Republican Party and which ones may or may not end up.
