And we have what's called the Open Line edition of the program and on the Open line edition of the program. You kick the run down to the GERB. I turn the responsibility for writing the rundown over to you, the listeners. And whatever it is you want to talk about you can talk about. But that's Friday and not today. 809 239385 Dial that number. Join the conversation. How do you feel about a more woke military A more woke. Military. You're familiar with the term as it gets used in popular parlance, I'm sure there's some High profile politicians well known for it. Yeah, like Maxine Waters, always admonishing everyone to stay woke. As you just heard there. Well, Wokeness speaks to a certain level of social knowledge, engagement, and I guess a certain kind of trendiness that may go against the grain of traditional norms. More raise our our constitutional and politically incorrect way of life in this country. As a way of showing people how I don't know. Guest trendy or maybe up to date or how with it you maybe 809 239385 809 to 3. W Dtk, But I certainly hope that's not the case where our military or those being trained to join it are concerned recently in testimony. On Capitol Hill of the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Was asked what he thought about a topic that's sweeping the nation, particularly with regard to the education industrial complex. That is the issue of critical race theory. And to that degree, he said that he didn't have a real problem with it, particularly given the fact That cadets at West Point at this particular point in time. Are reading books related to the topic. Is that what we need? Is that what the cadets need? Is that what our military is supposed to be all about? A more woke. Cadet Corps 809 239385 809 23 w. D. T. K. Critical race theory, as many of you know, is nothing more than neo Marxist philosophy masquerading as some kind of racial justice issue. It seeks to as classical Marxism does divide people except not along class lines but along racial lines, and as such prescribes that people of color in particular are the old pressed. And that white people are vo pressers and our chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Thinks that this kind of content, uh, should be required reading at this particular point in time for West Point cadets. It was a question that came up during a Capitol Hill hearing. With representative Michael Waltz, the Republican from Florida questioning of the General General Mark Miley, about critical race theory, the seminar that over 100 cadets attended titled Understanding Whiteness and White Rage. Taught by a woman who described the Republican Party platform as a platform of white supremacy. This is going on at West Point as we speak to our future military leaders. Yeah, what kind of a military do you suppose we'd have, if, in fact they are being taught to internalized This philosophical perspective, Or is it material to which they are simply being introduced as, uh, Any other material might be perhaps a book on the history of Marxism. Up the history of world communism. Maybe, as you read and study people like Stalin and Lenin with regard to studying strategies of warfare. It's nothing more than that. What do you think? 809 239385 809 23 Double u. D. T. K, but General Mark Milley. Defends the concept of teaching critical race theory at the military academy. He thinks it's something an idea if you will, Whose time has Com I do think it's important, actually, for those of us in uniform to be open minded and be widely read in the United States military academy is a university and it is important that we train And we understand I want to understand white.

"That is a very, very treacherous course for us to be on and this shift, you can draw a straight line to this new commander in chief in this new sector, so Congressman Waltz that should should Republicans get the majority in the house in 2022, you will have a prominent position in the House Armed Services Committee and and will hold the purse strings. Would you be able to tie military funding and defense expenditures to eradicating this critical race theory and making sure that short you'll get your money for your bombers? And for your for your ships, But you've got to change the way you're actually leading the force. You gotta change. We're gonna I've already I've already signed on the legislation banning in the military and there's additional legislation. And I think, Well, they don't have a tough time. The Democrats are in charge, and they bought into this nonsense. But we're going to try toe least get it barred from being taught in our military academies that are produced in the future Officers, uh, in this defense bill. So absolutely way. We're going to stop this in its tragic when we get back in charge the end of the day, our military leaders and I want to be clear. We need to eradicate extremism of all forms left, right or or whatever, from the military. Andre Schism is important. We should understand our past that is different than Believing that the military and our and our civilian institutions are systemically racist and need to be opposed by our military leaders. That is where absolutely draw the line. Representative Michael Waltz of Florida on the House Armed Services Committee. Thank you so much for speaking out about this and standing firm. We need that right now. We appreciate it very much. Okay. Thank you, Larry Sound by first firefight, but we'll stay in the fight on this one. All right. It's fine. By the way. Hamas caucus that's gotta catch on. I will. I will. I will use it liberally. If I may use that word on social media. I like that The Hamas call absolutely. It is 5 15. Now, W e mail, traffic.

"M A. L where Washington comes to talk to Claire Conner show and we will Continue our examination of the local school board, most particularly in this case, the Loudon County School Board as the recall effort is underway in prior will join us in 10 minutes to get the latest outrageous example of how critical race theory has injected itself into your kid's curriculum and how your kids are supposed to conduct themselves every day and you're paying for these schools. By the way, we'll get into that coming up in a bit, but I do want to follow up on this very disconcerting, issued sort of been Theme today with regard to what was once kind of a no brainer in this country that Americans of every political stripes saw the value in standing by our one and on Lee, stalwart ally in the Middle East, the only diverse inclusive democracy In that entire region, And that is the state of Israel, but sadly, even outside of pop culture and in the news media, and now you've got sitting congressmen who are well to say the least. Ah, disconcerting in their political positions, and this latest go around joining us now to discuss that and reflect on it is the congressman of the Sixth Congressional District of the State of Florida. You know, Florida that said state Everybody's moving to representative Michael Waltz, thanks for joining US Congressman Hey, thanks. Good to be with you and Florida's otherwise known as the potential of freedom. Yeah. Hold freedom loving Americans. Welcome. Ah, you actually I got to say I like it when people are bold in their statements on social media, especially when when you're in Congress, and you described the voices. You're hearing across the aisle right now, as the Hamas caucus that I mean You're not far from the truth. We're renaming the squad the Hamas caucus because it is it is simple. Israel is our ally. As you noted, inclusive Democratic. Arabs are actually represent as Israeli citizens in the Knesset in their parliaments. On and meanwhile, Hamas is a widely recognized terrorist organization that is launching rockets and attacks in the cities with the intent to kill civilians, while Hiding behind their own civilians, launching those rockets from schools, hospitals, buildings with journalists, and, um uh, it's just despicable. Or the left to create this kind of moral equivalence. Meanwhile, the actual Palestinian people Are the ones truly suffering Because Hamas sees it militarily is a win win, either the Israelis do nothing and they continue to launch attacks into Israel for the Israeli strike back. Do their best not to kill civilians. But that sometimes happens when the terrorists are hiding behind them, and then they get a propaganda victory. That's how they how they view things and this is what the left wants us to support. President Biden has called for a cease fire. Nancy Pelosi is echoed that but by calling a cease fire that suggests that both sides are are equal belligerence in this. This is not about a cease fire. Why isn't he calling for the terrorists to stand down? Well, exactly on D. Here's the thing If Israel unilaterally stands down and they'll continue to have their people attacked, infamous unilaterally stands down. There will be peace. It's a again it's It's really that simple, but I don't want to lose sight of the fact of what's really going on here. On that is the progressives are in charge, and their default response is the throw cash at a problem. So not only is the bite administration kind of, you know, calling for both sides. On a cease fire rather than Hamas. They're also throwing cash at the Palestinians and in Vienna right now, with their negotiators on the verge of lifting sanctions on Iran, which will mean billions And euros flowing into Tehran, which will turn right around and translate and the arms and rockets and bombs to Hamas Hezbollah militias in Iraq. Destabilize the entire region, while oh, by the way, the Iranians are currently holding Americans hostage as they've been doing since 1979. We're a long way congressman walls from the Abraham accords where we actually had Arab nation stepping up, eager to sign a peace deal with Israel. How if we come so far in just a year? Yeah, well, because this is this is underscored by the ministrations and the left approach. The world is underscored by two basic philosophies. One America and our allies like Israel are Justus much a part of the problem as they are The solution on number two. If we're just nice to the world. It was, Obama said his second inaugural speech, and this is Obama's third term that if we're just nice to the world, if we extend a hand, the rest of the world would be nice back to us. But What President Trump knew what those around him know what I know is that Dictatorships are emboldened by perceived weakness. They're deterred by strength Right now. They smell weakness in the White House, and that's why you're seeing the world blow up around us. Representative Michael Waltz of Florida sits on the House Armed Services Committee, and he is a combat veteran Green Beret veteran and also former Pentagon official. Into that end, congressmen were sadly used to be that the military was sort of a safe haven from this sort of woke political, social justice kind of rhetoric that you see in Congress but said, I I am disturbed by some of the things I'm seeing out of the Pentagon and this latest Dismissal of a member of the space force for for merely stating what should be, you know, basic understandings of American principles and patriotism. Are you concerned as well? Right now, I'm incredibly concerned. And on top of that I just a few weeks ago. Uh, sent a letter to the superintendent of West point after cadets and very upset families and soldiers of it. West point reached out to me because critical race theory is being taught. To our future military leaders of the army, including a seminar by Dr Carole Anderson, the author of how To Deal with Your White Rage on and on. So So one. I can't think of anything more divisive than the army that I came up in. Spent 25 years and taught you that no matter where you came from, race, religion, socio economic background, you bleed army green, your skin colors. Camouflage. You're all Americans. I could tell you what That's all the enemy's bullets care about is whether you're American or not on the other piece, and this is the piece that I think being missed by having critical race theory in the military. Is critical race theory that the central element is that our systems in America are inherently bad, misogynist, colonialist racist and therefore need to be broken down. They need to be overthrown. They need you have a duty to fight against it. So it's one thing for some kid and you see Barkley in California to learn that but the leaders of our future military with their monopoly on power, what that means for civilian oversight of the military. They're taught at an early age that civilian oversight is inherently bad and evil..

"You have a choice, but to stay engaged and to lead. And what we need to do is to continue building the Afghan military's capacity, which is going to take time. There's a higher literacy rate it's been fractured over many years of warfare. That is going to take a long time. Meanwhile, we have to keep a shorter term Connectik direct action posture against Al Qaeda in ISIS in other actors in the region. Look eventually, we have to drive to some type of political peace agreement, but we have to do it from a position of strength, and we can't just pull back cut a bad deal. If we have to fight our way back in that will be far for more expensive. You mentioned the African National people cite the years of investment, we've already made in those forces, and what we're getting back to them that we still have fifty thousand military members in Japan post World War Two the last seventy years. We still have thirty thousand military members in South Korea and look at the investment that we've made there I can go on and on Germany. Colombian philippines. So the United States is invested in countries around the world and taking a long-term approach. And I would argue that the country where again half, the world's terrorist organizations exist and struck the United States is worth than investment, giving your military background is there better way to train to get more effective results. As far as the discovery forces. We have to resist we have to resist the temptation whenever there's these blue on green tax, which the Taliban got a very good job of trying to infiltrate the North Koreans. Tried to do the same thing with the South Korean army, you know, years ago and pulling back and not really engaging with our partner I've been on the ground, and you can't you have to build a level of trust. You can't do that. With an armed guards standing over your shoulder as you're trying to have tea. It's a nuance kind of response. But you have to be out there with them on the ground. But that comes with some risks. We have to be willing to accept that risk. Our first co for you, by the way comes from Tallahassee Florida. You're on with Sonos, you're on with our guest Representative Michael waltz of Florida. Go ahead caller. This is Chris from Tallahassee. This is she spayed radio programming from Tuesday WCS bay promotion. Hey, Michael, thanks for everything to do quick thought. Lonely. Quick thought on mentioned would just be this with John Kerry whenever he was talking to Dana Perino on the daily briefing a little while back. You mentioned about. A thing that he might have said a little while ago. Tarini about waiting Trump out. My only question was. People say that against the Logan act. I don't know. But it just sounds kind of fishy considering Iran doesn't really want to do anything with the Trump administration until the until they they probably want to try to just wait until they get out of office. And but hopefully, hopefully troops overseas say protected, and I'm glad President Trump's sending over an aircraft carrier to keep them protected. You have much support. Thanks for everything you're doing and talk to you later. Well, thank you for that. And and I do agree and do believe and talked to a number officials that agree that the Iranians are trying to wait the president out. But it's not just a Ron. I think China is looking at the same thing North Korea's looking at the same thing. So there are a lot of folks with an eye towards twenty twenty but back to your to your comment on the military, and one of the reasons that Iran was that we're at a record low in terms of combat veterans in congress. So in the late nineteen seventies. We Pete about. Eighty percent of the Senate and the congress were veterans now we're hovering between fifteen and eighteen percent over about the last ten years. That's a record low in the nation's history. I think that explains a lot of the record dysfunction in this town because as combat veterans, you know, whether nobody cares in the ship and the plane in the foxhole about party race religion. It's about mission it's about country about getting things done. So I think the more veterans in this town on both sides of the aisle, the better, and I could tell you when you're sitting in the Armed Services Committee, and you close your eyes, and you hear the questions being asked to Defense Secretary and others, you couldn't tell which party they were coming from very different than what you're seeing judiciary and oversight and those other committees. So that should give you some optimism. I think Buffalo New York. Democrats lying Joe. Hello. Oh, really mortaring order up taking morning. Thank you southern runner billion dollars. Okay. That I'm a baby for eight years old father free. I'm not doing that. Well, and I know about forty or thirty people just like me that are really struggle. We are just studies Wilbur warming Republicans are the only ones in the world who don't believe that, you know, military trailer best. I'm versailles. Seven. Billions for orienteer- like you'll make a comment on that. Thank you. Well, thank you. Yes. That's a tremendous budget. It's huge. And and one of the things that that might tasks sitting in the House Armed Services committee is to get our arms around that get my mind around it because it is a tremendous budget, and I talked to Pentagon officials all the time that they have to spend it wisely that that we won't. So at the end of the day. How do we this is the kind of the billion dollar question? How do we continue to compact as Lama extremism, which is spreading in? My view coupled with China coupled with Russia overlaid with twenty two trillion dollars in debt and growing so they need to make those investments incredibly wisely. And one of our jobs is to ask those tough questions of where. Of where they're putting those dollars. That said I do think the United States has to lead around the world and putting those monies into the United States military to make sure that we are trained equipped and ready to defend not only the United States, but our allies and friends around the world is a is a wise investment on global warming. Look, I grew up in Florida. I can tell you the beach is smaller now than when I was a child. I joined the American flood coalition. I think this is a national security issue as well. We have reports coming from the Pentagon that certain bases are consistently flooding now, sailors can't get access to the base because some of the access roads are consistently flooding. We need to take a hard look at resiliency and how to deal I want to get past. This is is the earth warming. Or is it not and get to a conversation of how to deal with it? I don't agree with massive government. Mandates like the green new deal. I think there are market based solutions in terms of energy diversity and renewable that we can get to that that really makes sense in terms of dealing with the problem. But I'm committed to help deal with it represented when it comes to Pentagon investments there's report including the Washington Post at the Pentagon plans shuffle money from the ballistic missile program and surveillance drone program for the border wall. Is that a good investment? Well, if you look at if you've read a sentence or two. Yeah. We're kind of down the Pentagon's justification a lot of those were excess monies monies that couldn't be spent in time or contracts that weren't fully let so they're not necessarily pulling from those programs are looking for places where there are gaps inefficiency end of the day. I do think border security is national security a pipeline a tunnel a pathway that can move immigrants, and that can move drugs can also move weapons can move terrorist organizations and can move all tied. The bottom line is a smugglers. You really don't care. They'll work with whomever will pay Hezbollah has had has infiltrated people through our southern border. They've been arrested two or sitting with the southern district of New York, but separately this humanitarian crisis. It truly is we when you have over one hundred thousand people a month. Those are just the ones being detained. And and the nature of those being detained have changed from young men seeking jobs to whole families. The border crisis is overwhelming. I do think it's a crisis. I do support the deal that was on the table last year, which was twenty five billion for border security to finally lock that issue down in exchange for a pathway for Dhaka and dealing with chain migration and dealing with a lottery system. I wish we could get back to that deal and encourage my colleagues to to come to the table and try to actually solve this crisis. So just to clarify if there's a Pentagon program with money that's not being used as that fair game for things like border walls. I wish we didn't have to do that. I'll be honest with you by congress after congress after congress has kicked the can on this problem in administration ministration hasn't been able to solve it. My point is we can't get to meaningful legal immigration reform, which we desperately need unless we solve the border issue. Because otherwise, I mean, not that I'm for this. But say you got 'em gave amnesty to all eleven million estimated illegal immigrants in the United States and didn't solve the border issue. Then you're just going to have the same problems three or four or five years from now. So. It is quenched one has to be solved before the other. Here's Stephen in Connecticut. Steven you're on with our guest represented, Michael waltz? Go ahead. I represented Michael. How's it going right about Iran? And to be honest with you, I do not want to get into another war in the Middle East. It's becoming a classic military state. And then my good friend John Bolton. Proposing a hundred twenty thousand troop build up that I read in New York Times is is crazy. I mean, I think it's crazy to drop out of nuclear agreement to start a war with Iran. I mean, I read the Pentagon is like a publication house push so much paperwork. It's mazing and every scenario with Iran turns into an app ad mess. It's a disaster. I this is not the path. I wanna see my not go down. So a few things on on on the Iran deal. And this is why it was so problematic. Number one the sanctions regime has to be enforced so Iran promised that it would suspend its nuclear enrichment and suspend its nuclear program. The problem is the verification mechanism had holes all over it. Number one. We couldn't go to the military sites and number two in order to go and verify that Iran was doing what it promised. It was going to do we had to give months and months and months of notice ahead of time. So that's like that's like police going into a house to search for criminal activity, but they can't search certain rooms those are off limit. And they have to let the suspect know that they're coming month in advance that was point one point two was that Iran. We knew was confident that it could stop then there's two pieces to two successful nuclear program the missiles, and then the actual warhead. They knew that they could pause on the warhead and keep in mind. The deal sunset in ten years while developing its missile regime, which was outside of the which was outside of the deal. So pause here. Maybe we weren't sure and continue developed to develop its missiles, which it's launched repeatedly in violations of other UN sanctions. And then the third piece really the intensity. Always to bring was extended a hand from the Obama administration and bring a Ron into the fold as a responsible international actor yet. We see them time after time after time supporting terrorist organizations all over the Middle East, and we can't lose sight of the fact that Iran is currently holding Americans hostage literally chained to the floor of the prison and Evan. It's which is its main maximum security facility as we speak an eighty two year old Iranian American. Former UN worker is detained in Evin prison. In addition to several others like university, professor from Princeton. So this isn't responsible action..
