So how does Michael Cohen affect your life? Because it seems like everyone on TV, and I was reading an article from FOX said this is going to be the defining moment in American history. I see that we're probably going to bitch about this for the next couple of days and then much like everything else. These August is just gonna go ahead and jump into the ash heap of history could be I mean, you know, look, I got up. Basically get get off the school. My knee out. Hey for some of you out there that have a tick tock account. I finally understand what the phrases. And honestly is someone that grew up in the vine generation. I'm really big in this because it's a be oh social media platform where people actually create stuff that's funny, and I can sell you that after having talk account for twenty four hours of only wasted about twenty two hours watching it continuously. I've been getting a lot of shift from people recently. Maybe rightfully so. But I I feel like there's a good conversation. I have so anyone that knows me. That's listen to the show for years thread might work that purchase by book. You understand one thing? I've always been pretty upfront with you about controversial ideas. I have and somebody tried say I've never been on the record about this before I found myself writing about it about myself, stating it at found myself. It was actually a, you know, just a brief sentence of my book, I've always been for the most part at least going back the last three years, I've been a supporter of universal basic income. And for those of you that don't know what that means that basically means it's an alternative to the current welfare state that we currently have that we currently have an essentially what it means is that we give every. American from the age of sixteen or eighteen to sixty five like a thousand dollars a month and nothing else. And that's it. There's no more Medicaid. There's more house, you know, housing allowances. There's no more food stamps. Everyone just gets that guarantee. They can come when inflation goes up the value stays. So that way you're not getting less or anything else like that quantitative easing doesn't affect it. It's just a lump sum of cash, and that's it and someone that. Wants to essentially eliminate the current welfare saith the way that we have it. I don't necessarily understand the lot of the allow the the mossy towards it. Now a lot of people on Facebook. For example, they start screaming isn't taxation theft. Yeah. But I mean, we're getting stolen from any way. And we're not going to go from our current system to absolutely nothing overnight. So I wanted to have a conversation about this. I don't want this to just be an echo chamber. Let's go ahead and jump into it to go ahead. And, you know, have this conversation with me, I went ahead and invited my old friend Logan Albright from free the people on the show to tell me where I might be wrong about this. And if I'm wrong, I'll eilly minute. I'm wrong out like to have wrong opinions or wrong ideas. If I believe that they are wrong. So let's go ahead and just start the conversation. Logan. Thanks for coming on this morning. Hey rooms zone. I talk to you always. So when you hear that I was a UBA supporter. What was your initial reaction will like some of? Viewers. I was a little surprised because I remember last time I was on this podcast. We had a long conversation about how taxation is theft, and you know, for you you're gonna have to get that money from somewhere..

That's now ourselves REM SO after. Var? And this week. We've got a pretty interesting episode. I mean every episode is, but we're going to be jumping on lot of the government shutdown craziness that we've been covering on the show recently on Monday. Yeah. I think it was Monday. We covered the fake BuzzFeed article talking about the deaths at national parks that were not result of the government shutdown and just yesterday. What we did was we talked a little bit about say a worker sewer just deciding not to show up to work. So we'll cover a little bit of that. And so much more this week. We have our awesome guests friend of about three years now, Mr. Alex Mercedes, Alex what's going on, man. The show man how the bins been good. It's it's been real as real as life gets folks. Those vita don't know Alex is. He he's ran for so many public offices. I tend to lose track base currently the vice chair of the libertarian party and not to play identity politics. But he's probably the most influential let's libertarian and the country because of this, and that's right for like, no one who really gives a crap about Marco Rubio. Who really gives a crap about Marco Rubio? He hasn't done anything since he's walked in the Senate. So you could take his spot and Ted Cruz Canadian. So I guess you. I guess you're Alex, I guess those are the that's quite via role. I gotta play. But what I do. So each just recently came out with a book profits or generosity. What what why do you think? This was something you had to come out with now because with the title that it seems like, you know, everyone's jumping on the whole socialism train evil profits are what caused everything bad in the world to happen. What's what's going on? Why? Now, why this book? It's something that I think about for a while like the term profits generosity was something. I coined about a little bit over a year ago when the whole rent, this theft thing was come around, and I did this whole video, but how rent is not. And I thought about how profits generosity onto preneurs ship is philanthropy and kind of laboratory on that. But I felt that seeing that was such important point that I wanted to make sure I got it down. But also one of the kind of put it in a very condensed format that, you know, someone who made honestly be warm to libertarian ideas or fee market, ideas may not necessarily spend time reading eighty pages hundred pages two hundred I wanted something that was really conduct that you can read like them. It's really breaks all the ideas doesn't necessarily kind tell you what your conclusion should be. But explains it in a way that says this is what it is in a way that people can get it and then come to their own conclusions. I'm sorry. Explain to me, the whole Rentis theft thing. I'm still trying to like eat don't get that around my head who was saying that..

Just go out and get it on Amazon and Barnes and noble online today. It's stay away from the libertarians by. Renzo w Martinez affects been me. So here's a little bit of a personal history for a good couple months. Maybe like free four months hide tried oppress this memory. So that way I'll have to think about it often when I think of my long and rather random job history. But I was a armed security guard for reston town center in rushing Virginia. I was a mall cop, and I. Good money for part time work having to just literally stand around outside all day, look, tough and direct people to Victoria's Secret. Ben and Jerry's and Starbucks. But I if you'd a lot of tickets, if you're from the northern Virginia area beltway are and you know, about town center, you understand that we were the only mall in this area, the actually charges people for parking, and that did not make me very popular person. Hey, everyone. Welcome to some Martinez experience. I'm your host is always tubby Martinez. Go ahead and do me a favor. Follow me on Twitter today at Remm. So for VA that's four spelled out. F- O R V A R M S O F O R V A on Twitter. You can follow me on Instagram as well. You more stuff there? She's rhames. So the number four and then VA Sarim so the number four and back back to why was saying so. Yeah. That that job was basically I stood around. I looked tough. I gave people parking tickets, and I directed them to Starbucks in Victoria, secret, believer, Victoria, secret was the most. I think we got more thefts and theft reports from Victoria secret than any other location on rest in town center. It was a pretty unrewarding job. No one really likes you as a mall a needed the money. It was easy. I got to work part time doing that out. Regretted? Good learning experience. Good good humbling experience, but you know, many people when you when you think of mall cops you think that's probably like the bottom. You know, ball cops are the butt of most jokes. I mean, I've heard every Paul blurt jokey could imagine. But the thing is like even mall cops have people that we kinda shit on to make fun of. Yes, I am talking about let's say, you might hate mall cops. But on ball cop has never fondled you in areas, you did not give them explicit permission to go out, and touch as of now, we are hitting day eighteen of the federal government shutdown, and yeah, you'd think by some reports that were entering Mad Max issue toy. Via and others. It's like, you know, nothing nothing has happened. I can tell you this. I don't watch cable news. I have not really gone online to learn about this much unless I'm prepping for episode of the show and then each time, I go and Google shutdown news. It's like, you know, it's the funniest stories of popped up. If you listen to Monday's episode. I went ahead and talked about that absolutely ridiculous. Just completely fabricated article by BuzzFeed, we went ahead and broke down the false reports of deaths at national parks. They're basically saying all these people were dying national parks because of the shutdown. Then all we had to do is read the article and even the reporter admitted that none of that was true. But you know, most people just look at the headlines, so you can go ahead and check out that up. So that was that will probably lead us into today because we're covering the same thing..

"You wanna know what you need more of in your life, Allah ticks? Yeah. Nobody ever said that. But if you've got to go ahead and spend money on the one nonfiction book. It's gotta be the ultimate clash of wisdom. Awesomeness? And then obviously the politics a little bit of comedy. Why? Now a little bit of a memoir, why not something that's going to make you say, hey, I actually enjoyed reading this. I laughed. I learned something in the process checkout. My book, it's an Amazon bestseller. You may have heard of it. It's stay away from the libertarians it talks about all the things you think you might know about libertarians. Renzo w Martinez affects been me. Gotta love BuzzFeed. If you're like me might spend a good chunk of your weekends. Watching those by Sweden. Worth it winner videos, where they compare like the five dollar bunches of French fries like the hundred dollar buckets of French fries or the five dollar Rahm shop to the hundred dollar Rahman Shah, or what happens when you get a couple of ex lover's together, and they ask each other questions if they don't want to answer a question, they they have shot bus is really good that type of stuff I love their content. Buzzfeed news on the other hand. You know, they're they're kinda how they're kind of lacking. In the news department. It's one thing to blame bad armed goal. It's one thing to blame, you know, an editorial slip. It's another thing to just have a track record of not necessarily putting out your best. And I'm to you. You're getting three episodes couple of days when the ro I'm so why change why not why not seriously why not just do this? Whenever we want. The whole purpose of the show is just go ahead, and you know, light fire to the brush fires of the minds. Go ahead and have some fun in the process. So why not do show as often as I can give you one a week? If you get more than one week will then hey you and I are both winning. Let's go ahead and talk about this. We're within the I think it was like, wow. Know what it's like day fifteen day sixteen of the government shutdown, and you know, apparently the world is ending. I love it. Whenever Trump does something because then you have Senate and crushing Democrats. Go ahead and say if the government if the Republicans do this people will die well bus. They're they're really grasping to validate that in the process two things occur. I'll explain this a little bit in the process of BuzzFeed trying to say that the government shutdown is literally killing people they have done two things one. They have shown that they're not necessarily as much of a news organization as much as they are editorial board. And I'll I'll clarify that in a second. Secondly, BuzzFeed does something that you don't want to do if you're going to make up something at least make up something that's a little bit hard for other people to disprove don't juxtapose. Disprove yourself. Let's go ahead and explain this. This is not an op Ed editorial piece, it's a quote fact-based article from a BuzzFeed reporter, Claudia Rosenbaum came out. This this past Friday. Let's go ahead and all all skim through this article, but include the link in the show notes, it's four people have and as the title four people have died in national parks since the start of the government shutdown at least three of these deaths were accidental, but it was unclear if the government shutdown played a role in response efforts. So let's go ahead and look at that you're just in the title loan. You're tying four deaths so four people who've died to national parks. National parks are overseen by department of interior interior the federal government. And then what what's the closer? Why did they die in federally protected? National parks. The closure..

"Six nine. If you want to join our discussion, we're talking about paranormal investigating with Renzo so Martinez whose an investigative journalist also a paranormal investigator, and he has a show that's called the witching hour and we've been talking about that. And I want to just clarify Renzo where can people see the show if they're interested in checking it out? Well, if you're in the northern Virginia area, you go ahead and check it to Fairfax public access with which is channel ten or if you're in that year, he Pennsylvania area just go to access eerie as well. And about a week after each episode premieres on both of those networks would go ahead and check out our YouTube channel to see the full episode. It's just ARGUS paranormal A R G O S paranormal on YouTube. Let's talk about skeptics you reference. The importance of skeptics, I think we of on this program believe the same thing. I'm not sure it's for the same reasons. So let's talk about that wire skeptics important in an investigation. I think skeptics or as important to the same use that, you know, just die in the wall. Headstrong believers are Ford we need somebody to keep us focused, and we need somebody to keep us objective. This is why for most of my investigations. I always make sure that I have somebody with me who has a difference of opinion, or at least the difference of worldview, and I think when it comes to skeptics, it's they're very much in the school of they need to see to believe. And when it comes to a believer. You know, they already believe it therefore seeing it just kind of there is what they already sick. And when I first started doing this about several years ago. I I was very much of the school. Okay. If it's there it's there. I want to just go into a situation just say, okay, nothing before this false because paranormal investigators every day put out evidence that people demand. And then you have somebody that goes on the YouTube comments and said, hi it's fake when it comes to skeptics. They just they need to see the proof, and they need to see something physical may see something tangible occurred, and then from there they can go ahead and make an assessment of the situation so much like believers who just need extra verification a skeptic is there because they need to see something hard. And that is where you know that old saying, you know, grit claims required. Great evidence really comes into play. And I think that's the role that skeptics play. Well, but I think that there's also different styles of skeptical skeptics, I you you have the skeptics who when something happens. They're looking for the real explanation. But you get the skeptics where a ghost could walk directly in front of them. And no matter what they're not. They're not going to believe they're not willing to to work with somebody to actually try to figure out what truly just happened. So I think there's that wide range and you need the right kind of skeptic. If you're going to have them in false, correct. Exactly. And I come from a background in politics. And you know, I wanna get super political about this. But you go on the news I on the right, and you have a purse on the west, and you can go ahead and throw a football in front of them and say, this is a football at someone's going to say it is someone's going to say it's not and regardless of what stance they take down to believe it down to the core. But what is it? It's not a it's not a puppy. It's a football. So what we need to do is. We need the type of skeptics that you you. You mentioned we need to peel that just want the truth. And you know, as a journalist, you know, my job is to go ahead. And just report what I see and to go ahead and describe it collect evidence provided in a way that people can understand it. Whether it's through the Renton award or video or audio just show them what's going on. So that way they can reach their conclusions people that want to pursue the truth. And when you go on that pursuit of truth. Sometimes you'll be. Amazed sometimes you'll be bored. But you'll always get what is occurring need to focus on. What is true? How it's true. And why it's true? Unless what we want one thing to be. In the course of your investigations, what kind of evidence have you collected that convinces you you're making progress on the right track? Oh boy. I mean, we we've run the gambit the past year and a half, especially everything from your class. A EDP sports. Sounds like somebody standing right next to you. Speaking. Video evidence of what appear to be. Yeah. Translucent people. For example, we saw this in the first episode of the witching hour where we sell the static camera in the room where we had a laser grid pen. Yeah. You know, hanging off the furniture, and the walls, and what we see is an outline of a person and that came through watching the six hours of footage that was their skimming through it to see if anything has got. And then we've taught, you know, just the regular flashlight activity, and he's had some excellent responses with different types of spirit boxes Abaza boxes. What we try to do is. We've always tried to use overlaying evidence. Go ahead and verify whether something has happened. And I mean, we've we've shown on their Facebook page ARGUS dot com. And that's what we've got some phenomenal video some are still photography as well. I mean, it's it's really hard to narrow it down to just one. But in terms of, you know, just the general things that people want EVT's video audio we've definitely achieves pretty much all of that the past year. Let me ask this though. Is there any show out there that was the basis behind the what you're doing now or any show that you guys followed that that really became the basis behind this at at the end of the day. It always goes back to ghost hunters on side. I wasn't doing say. Say stay the doors, right? You can send a check my win. I thought you were gonna say Scooby doo, frankly, I thought that was old man Jenkins. Always. So there's always that one. They've caught more people than I have. But you know, it was really kind of strange for me because as we were filming Belle grove plantation in port Conway Virginia. It just saw kind of cereal because I remember watching that episode on your show, and those are walking around, you know, there was one. Around one AM. I'm staring at ride we're gonna win the base of the building. I'm just looking at him. Like, you know, how weird this is right now what we're doing right now, this is not normal stuff. But this is so much fun. And that's it. Honestly, a lot of people look at it. As a scary situations or whatever, but it's more intriguing and enjoyable being able to check these places out. Well, nobody else's in there. You have no contamination here able to walk through these places just an empty building. And it's just it's incredible. It's an incredible experience. It's an incredible feeling especially you know, like me, I love I love history. And when you go to these places and your your bit of a history there like I am when you go, and you're trying to find to see whether or not the spirits of certain problem that figures are still allowed whether you're trying to see if certain residual energy is creating you know, loops of entities that are playing back the same bombing. Time. It's almost like you're seeing history comes before your eyes and provides a different understanding of what it is. It's one thing to see a place. It's one thing to know about the place. It's completely different. When you truly feel an environment come alive. I mean, it's just it's so rare. Allow people really appreciate some of this historic places to I love to sit down somewhere. And just think how many people before me are or who was the first person before me who sat and sat in the same location and do the same thing or looked around the edge just looked at the same areas. It's just an it's an amazing experience. It really is. Absolutely. I mean, I I wouldn't trade it for the world. You know? I I keep mentioning fun. Somebody on Twitter was like you're having too much fun at these places. I can't have enough fun. If you're not if you're not doing this. And you're not having fun. Then you need to find something else because you could do anything else if you're tied. If you don't enjoy if you don't have that thirst hunger for truth, and a truly find something, which is, you know, trying to you know, essentially at the end of the day. What is all about? It's about finding your place in the universe. And asking the big question Hawaii. Why am I here? What's going on? What does this all mean? If that doesn't intrigue you, and there's no I'm billion things else. You could do let's go back to your investigations through a lot of equipment at us when you were talking about the tip of evidence that you've captured what is your preferred list of equipment? You know, the first the top two or three things that you rely on most heavily in that you feel are the best tools in your arsenal. I try and cover while I call the the trinity and gear might just be my term below is the three primary things I use. I usually use. I twisted light all fastened boxer spear box software, and then I use a trigger island of some form. That's that. Usually I could fight. It could be anything big. It could be changed that could be a dollar could be anything. But something that's unique to the environment. And now, I try and find the overwhelming evidence if I have a flashlight that, you know, and it's funny that the things that you'll say about the flashlight sessions, I'm sure so I'm still trying to find somebody that could find me the vote controls whistle MAG light on Amazon, I'll give them five hundred dollars. They could do that by ward right there. But if someone's you know, if there's an entity in the room and they're messing with flashlight. That's nice. But I need to see something else. I need to see if they're responding through the spear FOX I need to see if they're tapping on the wall need to see if they can change the temperature. Rail having that overlapping evidence doesn't just prove that something's there. But proves that something is there, and it's cognizant its intelligent, and it shows that that is providing the validation I need to go forth and see if anything else is a crane or what else escaped all doing because they can't talk to me if it can't you just make a little light flicker, then we'll probably gonna have some difficulties throughout our investigation. So yeah, it's usually the flashlight and a spear boxer faster box, which are usually the first step by us investigation. Now, do you worry about the spirit box dealing with contamination? I mean, a lot of times radio waves can bleed through on those and give you false readings. And I know there's been a lot of different issues with them. All the time. And I mean, this this is not a proven science. This is why overlapping evidence to solve for because you know, if I have three items and only one of them was showing that something might be happening. That's not good enough. Nobody wants nobody wants a one out of three. They wanted to either three they lost three out of three. And when it comes to the spear box. You know, a lot of I find that. There's more of a problem with the investigator and how they use it and less of how the spear boxes, and how other people, you know, we have this old saying in journalism. It's if you ask leading questions you get leading answers when it comes to a spear boxer Fazal box. You can't treat it like a magic eight ball. You gotta get specific. And if you're getting blog very loose random answers, then you're probably just getting bunk. You're you're not getting much at that. So you guys get specific you guide narrow, and and you've got to make sure you've got that overlapping evidence to validate that what you're doing is actually capturing something in the moment. We only have a few minutes with you left. Renzo? I want to ask your advice if somebody was just getting into this for themselves. What type of advice would you give them regarding locations? They should start at the quick they should start with an attitude. They should go in with. I believe in feeding your house, you know, take care of your family, and that's your community. If you're looking for somewhere try and find a place in your own.

"It helps us greatly by pushing the show floor gets it out for more people to find. And before we bring our next guest in Renzo, so Martinez. Just a reminder tomorrow night, Geoff Mudge, it will be with us to talk about his grandfather, h h Holmes, America's first serial killer. And maybe one of the most notorious and Wednesday, we've got John Olsen joining us. He's a paranormal investigator we're gonna continue the discussion about investigating things that go bump in the night. Oh, and one last Jato we gotta give a shout out to my man, Steve Gonzalves star from goes honors. You know, it's his birthday right now. He's turning twenty again for like the twentieth time or something out of not even a question that much love de Abril was good talking earlier and going to be. Next week. Happy birthday. Steve always always. Wishing you the best. Okay. So let's bring in our guest for the second hour Renzo Martinez. He's an investigative journalist in Amazon best selling author room. So welcome to be on reality radio. Great to have you on with us tonight. Come on. So let's talk about your show the witching hour. Tell us what it is. Also, the about with a tail offended that value ago. He dared to go do something which we never thought. Imagine assets doing which was investigating. Sightings and supernatural activity throughout the state of Virginia. And over the past year what my brother Ryan producer. And I basically discovered is that there's a law in our very own neck of the woods here in Virginia throughout the rest of the Commonwealth that just the question what goes on? The lights are off that makes people wander. Strangest ethic pitching the show to the network. It's the witching hour, essentially, what we do is we go out, and we do a lot of other ghost hunting shows. Do we go out, and we investigate pair of our black? Watching our between two four am predominantly route three foot four says that that's when your medical. Forces or supernatural energy seems to concentrate itself at night, but we do Ryan's background in computer science technology, and my experiences the best game journalist. We ain't go out with more of an objective. You try to find overlaying evidence. We try and really understand the history of the sites or working with and we work with employers and the staffers at these locations to really kind of uncover a wide causes certain things to happen decide whether or not or actually guilty of something supernatural a pair of all baller. If it's something that can easily be explained. So that's the purpose of the show. It's really going to these fantastic picks case throughout the beautiful state. Trying to figure out what's really going on in the witching hour is just the whole idea behind the witching hour, if you really want to get into the past of it is it's supposed to be sort of the one hundred percent reversal of the time that Jesus died on the cross admits the mockery. That's why so called demonic activity is at its strongest at three AM, correct? Like. I really believe that may not just stop you go to any alien, you know, western western culture back then. Which is you saw over there. And you go over to native American folklore legends. And they say that that's when they could get in touch more spear world. I mean, there seems to be. What culture and what time period you look at for predominantly post-colonial period. The United States expansion always comes back to this. There's something about that three hour that we cannot explain as to why it's so dang weird. But something happens and we've discovered that on the show. Originally when our we thought things one, obviously, that's why we're not gonna have people outside who always up at three am to cause. Interference for evidence of three gets marketing the witching hour south fair. But what I've seen over the past dozen or so investigations, you know, the closer and closer we get to the our seen as a hits that's three period. Crazy things go down. And I don't know whether it's because we're all sadly tired, or it's because of some other strange circumstance. But there's just something about it which causes everything to go from silent to Blair witch project in a matter of mall. That's okay. But we've captured that's definitely of course. It's it's interesting talking about it that way, but I just wanted to make sure the viewers were aware of why why three AM has always been considered the so-called witching hour or that the time that all these terrifying horror movies show, somebody waking up looking at the clock. It's always three AM. But the whole thing was pretty much the basis of the one hundred percent reversal decry supposedly died on the cross at three PM. And it was supposed to be a mockery of the whole. Well, demonic activity is at its strongest at three AM because you know, the reversal of good and bad, and and so forth. I want to ask you also about the word investigator because one of the things that you talk about is putting the word investigator back into paranormal investigator when did it leave in. What is the symptom of leaving? And how are you gonna put it back? I think the big baldness this. We see what's it all over the past decade, especially every other. But seems there's a new. Chose I travel channel. Which? Renzo? Is there a problem with your microphone because you keep on fading out on like you're in a tin can. And then you'll come back and sound. Okay. So I'm not sure can you hear me now? Yeah. We now a lot better. Okay. Perfect. So primarily what we've seen the past decade because of network television is everybody is always trying to outdo the other. It's you know, it's constantly turned into ratings chasing. And the more shows that are put out the more episodes where they're trying to find something that really outdo the other. What we've seen a lot of these goes on there's an paranormal investigator say go out and they're just walking around. They're just saying, hey, you know, come at me, if somebody's here they're not putting into work in the effort to actually decide. Okay. Something did happen after we've recreated act. Can we go through the scientific process of trying to figure out what's going on? Well, if we try and do an experiment what if we have overlapping evidence, maybe instead of just doing a flashlight session, roughly sub the box wealthy. Go ahead and set up. Win. To see if that gets activated. And then when the one of those goes off, let's see if we can try and get the other one to respond to us. We don't see a lot of patience on these shows because what they want is they want a Hollywood affect or it's just constantly escalating, it turns more about oh, let's get out of the house or we need to call the cops instead of okay, let's try and figure out what's really occurring here. So we try and do onto what she our is. Where a lot more patient. We show a lot more. So I called the boring moments where we're just really kind of waiting for something to happen were out. And actually, you know engaging. These experiments were trying to punk thing to say happen and or trying to remain calm and objective as possible. Because at the end of the day, our reputations are on the line. This is not my full time job. This is not my career. This is a project. I'm doing trying to pursue questions that we all have. And if I don't go out there, and I'll try and do this as honestly object objects. And a scientifically as possible that's going to make me look pours journalist, it's going to be like, I'm just chasing sensationalism. So that's what we're trying to do trying to really put the investigative process back in the while investigating the show. We're talking with Renzo Martinez. He is a paranormal investigator in investigative journalist has website is Argos A R G O S paranormal dot com..
