"That say be less white. So what are you get you get white people pretending to be black. You get people like rachel dole. You get people like that. Nyu professor you get people all sorts of people who are pretending to be different races. It seems like these stories crop up every couple of months in the same way. I suspect you're getting people who have basically ordinary sexual desires. Were now saying no i'm other. I'm trans i'm gender non conforming. I'm a Homosexual that's a new one. That's where you don't put a post modern. And i just don't want people to know your sexual abuse so it means like you're a straight guy but you you wanna sound like really cool. There's one i read called new twat this is in the list of the hundred genders new trois. I believe is when you are sexually confused but also french. So you just become newton twa and was just renuka boo boo. Shoo sipa You get people who are identifying that way because it carries social currency in the way that being able to claim membership in any aggrieved minority at converse social currency today so too can be true in the realm of race that can be true in the realm of sex and it's obviously true in the realm of sexual desire as well so as you've got the culture all pushing this direction this does have real world consequences as real world consequences in for instance the discouragement of the forming of families. And when i say family. I don't mean the sense that we all have different kinds of families. That's i mean specifically families that have children that is declining a lot I think some sort of squishy conservatives. Were celebrating a story that came out a while ago. That divorce rates are hitting all time lows will. That's great but you gotta read read the second part of the story. Which is that marriage. Rates are hitting all time lows too and what happens when people don't get married. Birth rates are hitting lower and lower numbers. The united states right now is a dying country in the sense that we are not replacing ourselves. our birth rate is below replacement. Is it possible that cultural and political factors have have a role in this as well. Is it possible that on the cultural front. This idea that you are discouraged from forming a family discouraged from forming sort of the traditional nuclear model. Does that play a role in it. Does the economic front play a role in the idea that you're encouraged to delay having kids delay getting married pursue. Your career work work work. Everyone in the household needs to go work. The kind of the. I guess i'm sending a little left wing here because this is in a way critique of modern capitalism but i suspect that too is discouraging families and specifically discouraging people from having babies. And now you've got some republicans. Some very conservative populist republicans and even some squish like mitt pushing back and saying wait a second if our public policy has ordered toward not having kids and not having families maybe we should just rework our public policy to encourage those sorts of things one great way to preserve memories of of your kids when they were little of your parents of your grandparents paint your life paint your life.

"Yeah, with the you know the Silverbacks, and then I forget what the other team was was that who was after the silverbacks sharks I was never is for both seasons. In a long time ago I played for. The Columbus Sharks semi pro football league and that was a long time ago. It, it's funny. You mentioned indoor football because I. I miss broadcasting it. That was a lot of fun to call I mean I. You was more successful, but yeah I can I can tell you quarterback. Tommie Smith I. Think First Name was Tommy I. Know that, but he was from eating and he. Played His college ball in Indiana, so that was. I know I know where you're from. I live near there. So that always made me happy but Yeah I. It's sad to think that a hair arenas. In the state that it's an it's never gonna be what it was and to who knows if we ever get any new arena like that? I personally hope we do, but. Yeah that's the you know. That's the big hope. Right, because when if we're talking Dayton sports and around that area. We've gotTA have. That type of Reno Nine. We have like Is Trent Renuka. Yeah, there's the trend arena and kettering which I mean. They're never. GonNa put in hockey there. That's yeah yeah. Yeah. So, it's like you really need. I mean, that's A. Such great sport to have. To have people come to and to be around and if you're if you've got hockey, you can do the. You know the the football and all that is well and. Just so much so much. Other things I mean Harry brought so much to the community with that. You know to see see that. Go Away was a real shame. It's. It's still heartbreaking to me I. Don't know how I if you been catching up with hair arena, but just. It's it's bad. The tornadoes certainly didn't help just. It's. It's really bad and it breaks my heart. I mean we can look up and see nineteen eighty seven written on some of the ceiling tiles so. That gave the character. You gave the character absolutely I I wonder if the Dayton. Demons championship ceiling tiles still in the pub because all of a sign did after the Cup came home and. The demons were in Danbury for game five and I was broadcasting sharks game and I can just remember. That's the quickest I've packed up my broadcasting year. And I went down to the PA. Then it was like ninety two Dayton like we're gonNA win the cup. It was that was a great night..

"Don't want to play for Marino Oregon, so there's an issue that there might there might this peace and it might be. It might be good again in my spare, for Spurs again and the Marino, and before you got me on, twitter happens. This could happen I mean he seems spurs interest and don't believe on two hundred K. Week. He's cost. You sixty two million euros last summer. You most expensive player ever you don't want him to be a failure and and loan him to another club, and then him furnishing in another team, or whatever so it's it's in everybody's interest. If they can't patch up and you know, make peace again and then work this out. Okay? This will happen, either and and clearly I don bailer a hostile disease like Marino says I don't want to play from Reno ever again. And there's no way out of this then you'll have to move him on and then I think there will be clubs like PSG by Munich like Bosnia if they can make a deal. It's a two year loan Dan with an obligation to buy for example. Then I think there would be. Teams on keenum. Now, every row ends badly. Though Gab Renuka chooser kicks Shaquille Lozano of training, and he comes back and stars in their win over Verona is coward and sticky. Isn't it GOB which? Yet because he's. He's not the first one to use it. I get was actually pretty good at this I got to say I I don't think there's football is particularly sophisticated groundbreaking, but he's really good man man. Yeah, and you know I. Think it's a big call when you actually throw somebody out. He did it Lozano took it in the right spirit and came back and you can contribute I. Those a great player. I think of unsolved stuck around I think it would have played a bigger role. I think he can still play a big role for Napoli. Jules I know you love technical feats, deconstructing them and talking about the angle of the foot and stuff like that and the angle of the body. Tell me about Eddin Jacko's first goal in their two one win last night. I guess some. It was one of the best cities this this week for sure. One of the best of the of the season I think is Lorenzo. Pellegrini, who is a wonderful player really and just come on by the way. With a with a lovely of dink board you were saying to the box is like thirty and then G on is left for on the turn voting Ryan the top corner one of the most magnificent Gordon. Dacoits incredible goes if you remember the the volley against Chelsea in the Champions League goes well in those kinds of goals, but this one on his left for again, and he's getting older obviously, because thirty three now some kind of Who goes out and then five minutes from the scored the winner now as Nice as this one, but still you thinking? Wow, those kind of players. I. Ask and we should just enjoy them because there's so many more of Jayco, you know one year maybe two maximum and for goes like this is just pure. Are Pure. Beauty and just yeah, it won't WANNA. Say Young striker out there this comes. Yeah. JEKYLL has great balance and Blah. Blah Blah. This is also the result of practice and working on individual technique in touch like that and you know a lot of times people get stereotype when when the big target meant type. He's a big man, but he's got those skills and he. He has them because he worked at. Finally Gov that five nil win of Osuna was most defending illusion because he was another one. Neil grind the out victory reflect. On Tuesday. Yes, most definitely most definitely was. But that's fine, but. I mean done. This is the DNA. Will make the champions. League you know Michael should ain't they may or may not. It was good again, though yeah, in that role and you know GEICO SEE MELANIN! He's doing I, just wish. They had. Could turn it on in those games because they talented players. Who can do that But you know they don't need to to. That's. Second Dimension they could challenge I. Think or close to challenge Madrid. They don't. Then you know the best they can to the best of the rest. All right that brings us to end Solis should so much talk show I, know in Mark Ogden lifted us as well so that was good, too. So, we do this kind of Monday. When they catch you then..

"The stop. That's the that's the real grist for our growth as leaders. If we're not aware of it then we have to become made aware of it. And that's where the or the coach can help you say. Hey listen mark. This is the pattern now. Mindfulness training can also help you become aware. Those patterns show end the tournament combined. Are The magic secret sauce right. Because you have this kind of external feedback loop sell also assessments. When I did my first three sixty assessment men. It was like getting hit by a bus. I was like Holy Shit. This is a people see me. Who is this person? And it was me. And so there's a huge huge opportunity for me to uncover some of that back on of obviously set. That was getting stuck getting the team stuck. Yes so motion on the seals. I you said something really important. Will you have to learn emotional control? But if if that's your only tool then you're gonNA stop all the emotions and then you're gonna get then. It's going leak out in a bad ways so emotional controls important for the board meetings important for the you know the you know the all hands meetings and is important for a navy seal on a mission control the fear you gotta transmit that energy into mission focus and determination for for the win. But then you've got to basically take a look and pull out in objectify those subconscious patterns that are causing disruptions in yourself and your team and objectify DECI identify with it and then trace it back to its source and bleed off the energy that caused it to begin with and change the story around that stuff. It's vitally important agree. Take a little moment here. I think that the the understanding of you know the this whole idea of being a leader is on is so outdated and so foolish and I'm really glad to hear it from somebody. Who is maybe? The personification seal is the personification of what we have believed as the shove. Don't feel anything and it's not true and I'm so happy to hear you talking about these important issues or revealing to yourself. Those feelings that need to be processed that need to be gone through. Because everybody's got them. I mean my background is in psychology and and and and that shadow work and I do the Hero's journey work with my clients and help them to understand that. That is where you go and I just love the young men and and Campbell story which is the treasury. You crave the treasure. You desire that is held in the cave. You fear to step into Every it's installed when Luke goes into the VEDA holds the helmet often. He discovers himself. Because it is our own shadow that we are battling that we've repressed that we deny in our attempts to be good whatever the heck that means in the world and so we shove it down and we've made certain feelings bad in certain feelings good as opposed to all feelings being what they are feelings that need to be processed and dealt with with emotional maturity saying. I'm really pissed off right now. Let me explore that. I'm really terrified right now. Let me explore that. Not Shove it down and go okay. Let's go do this. No I'm seeing that right now. I'm seeing a lot of yoga. Well yes I'm afraid but I'm not going to deal with. I'm going to get on with this. Well that still running the show. You don't understand that's actually got a process that right now so that you can actually think clearly was a little bit more of that mark because that's really important stuff. Most men think that emotional development emotional awareness showing emotions mic will make them weak or make them look weak and it couldn't be further from the truth. It doesn't detract from your strength. But it it removes the barriers to your full potential by doing the emotional awareness. So imagine you know. Most people want to project the strength of being the mighty oak tree but when the soon nami comes guess what the first tree to get blown over swept down the water. It's the oak but the little read you know she just bends over and lays down and when the US Nami goes away she pops back up so you need. You need to be able to project the power of the oak but had the flexibility of the read. And that's where the emotional were comes. Because that's the soft part so the hand is can be turned into a fist or it can be an open palm to to lend some support to someone some emotional support of Tapa Shoulder. Good job or a hand on your own heart. Say I feel I feel your pain the or it can be a fist right and just to punch someone in the face. So you know there might be a time where it's appropriate to punch someone who face but there might also be an opportunity to put your hand on your heart. You know what I feel like punching interface. But let's talk this through. Maybe there's better Mueller's better way so emotional development for leaders doesn't make you weak and it doesn't project weakness. It makes you authentic in makes you real and the more real that you become and the more mass that you take off and Bring you can carry the mask by your side. This is kind of what I'd do dove. I'll carry my mask and I'll say to my team. Listen I gotta I'M GONNA put my my navy seal mask right now because we got some shit to work through but just know that it's my navy seal mask. Don't don't be afraid and I play that role I tell people you know during my seal bit Cuco Camp when I am the coach when I'm on in front of people I am commander Mark Devine. Yes and videos of me. People are scared of me freight but it's just a role just a mask. You know when I take it off you know. Go over. Give them a hug and say. Hey good job man. You're crushing it. They're like wow. This is really unusual. I'm not used to seeing the Harden. The soft in the same moment in the same individual. That's authenticity right. That's what I mean by. You can project the power of the OAK but have the flexibility of the read. It's it makes you stronger that I think about the eastern we started this discussion about martial arts the eastern concept of the yen and the young young. Yeah it is the year in the mix. The young stronger is the young that makes the yen gives it support and structure and the master right so turkeys that we have in our endelman training to mass yourself daily so that you can serve others powerfully absolutely with your calling but if you just try to serve without doing the work of master yourself it lands splat transactional for the wrong reasons. Whatever so master. The hardest part of mastery is the emotional mastery. The physical part. Most people can do that. It can work out. Go to cross Jim. I got my yoga. Great mental mastery is one dimensional for most westerners is just academic learning or learning how to do business strategy and tactics but for us mental is also learning how to use the heart mind and the belly. Mind your whole mind but so that can still be learned and it's still easier than the emotional work. In my opinion I agree in and out of that. Mental physical mental emotional venue can tap into your intuitive intelligence in a line spiritually. So you're doing the right thing and you always know why you're doing what you're doing and when the crisis comes like this covert nineteen that's Nami. It doesn't break you as a human being in fact you just go inward cap and all your resources and you find a way through find a way or make away. That's what we say in. The seals changes the constant. There's always going to be obstacles and challenges. We just happened to be dealing with a unique one. That came out of the Blue Okay. It's not going to be the last one we dealt with. Or You have to deal with. And they're gonNA come fast furious in the future so learn how to control your mind. Do the deep work of staring down that fear in shore up your team authentically. You know it's it's interesting because Servant leadership has become very popular in the last ten years. And I've spoken seven leadership institute and I'm constantly challenged by it because I don't think that people actually understand what Saban leadership is. What are people thinking? It's Christian thing and yes allowed. Christians take it on but it's not Christian think it's not a Buddhist thing. It's not a Muslim thing. It's not a anything. It's serving my question always to people when they're in it as where are you serving from? Not who you serving? Where are you serving from ending? What do you mean and you know it's talking about what your talking about here. You know we talk about dragon fire being your purpose your calling. You're Donna what it is that you're doing it in the world and what we say is this through the emotional mastery through the emotional high levels of awareness that gives us a way to connect to that and use it in a very powerful way is what we call diamond philosophy and diamond philosophy is that there is in the world. You are grown up in. You were trained to polishers single facet and share that with the world and everybody applauds you owe on you a wonderful business on your wonderful academic audio wonderful mother. Whatever it might be. But no diamond has a single facet there are multiple facets and some of them you've got covered up because you don't like them as fast knows your shadow self and you need to pull the pull the crap off all facets because each facet has its purpose might learn how to fight. I learned how to be a box and be a martial artist. I'm not fighting anybody but if you come at me you will go through with this guy. it's just a vibe that I can put out now you can say it's a mess but it's actually it's part of me. I understand it. It's a facet I don't need it with my wife. I don't need it with my kids. I don't even with my grandkids. I don't need it where the people I love. I don't need it with anybody unless I'm being directly threatened right I also don't need a transactional self unless I need a transaction himself and is this part of us that we were so in the Western world. I find anyway mark. I'd like to know what you think that we're so focused in on being this own and his party's my other podcast. I talked about was curiosity. Bison the working title of it was trying to think how to say this without saying it after niche because and the reason for it was is that we think of people and things in these knee. Shes and it's not true much older than that. Like people say to me. I really expected to be really tough. And hard in Israel so surprised that you're such a hugger and you're so affectionate and loving you talk about soul and I just didn't expect that from you and they see my wife who is her name is Renuka. It means mother of. She looks like the most nurturing person on the planet and way tougher than I am elements of getting out of this narrow perspective of ourselves in the emotional maturity is insane. Hold on. I'm all of that as it's needed. There are tools in my toolbox. Not Everything's a fricking nail. Therefore I don't always have to be a hammer hundred percent. Well said I agree with you. Dove the mastery part. We call recall the five months of training in our. It's very similar to what you're talking about with a diamond. I love that metaphor when we tap into our physical mental emotional intuitions and spiritual aspects and integrate them into our whole mind or a whole being. Then you become a multidimensional holographic human and you can bring like light shining through your diamond metaphor and and I love the Buddhist idea that the diamond light of your soul resides in your heart. Yes you can think of that as a Hologram view on projects. The the warriors strength of the fighter. Because you're being threatened. Manny comes out and it comes out with violence of action to protect your loved ones to protect you know humanity things that you take a stand for. Yeah you know and simultaneously you can project another aspect of that being through the diamond light of the heart. Which is the caring mother you know. Even.

"And I've actually done some things from you free that I was like unbelievable that you're giving stuff away because it's like this great value. Why you give away stuff. Free like that to tell the world. I'm curious so the first answer is I have too much stuff. I don't have the Ben with sell everything that we create. That's like the most obvious answer. In any given week create five different articles that bounce off completely today my idea Assad with a Barista and I was talking to about. How many sting albums fail so that kind of conversations like I was talking to my wife about. Do you know how when we draw a road? Droid straight like level but there are no roads at our level. They're actually on a curve because of rain water and it needs to go to the side and then the sidewalks are the basements are sloping from top to bottom. So when you actually draw road it goes that way which is slope curve and slow and nobody draws so there is a perception and then the next recession goes off in a different direction. Which is how many failures that sting have what I'm saying here is. There's too much information my head already. It just goes on the website but the second thing and this is the interesting thing about sharing. Is that the moment people see that. There is a depth of knowledge. There they also want to share their information and so people continuously email me or text. Me Or do something. We'd sends me bouncing off in another direction within creates more concerned. I don't know if the stuff that we sell gives us a very good life. I don't know what we'll do with double of that. Come back to that because I was kind of a leading question to be honest with. You Sean. 'cause I think it's important and you kind of hinted at in your answer is giving stuff away builds relationships in more than that. My personal experiences. I email you some guy out of the blue and you reply or Renuka replies your wife and this is a relationship building process for you that I know you're living it because I can shoot you an email base complete stranger halfway across the world and here. I am sitting on an ecology today because you're open to building relationships like you said about the Barista's you can have a conversation and content builds conversations but at the same time. You're not just giving away junk. You're giving away true value and that's why actually a successful relationship. I would say and I think you also acted as you mentioned about. I don't know what do a double the money and that's really interesting so I read on your website some time ago so call. I think if you call it. The Tuna Sandwich rally in other words into three month vacation matter of fact you have a podcast about three months vacation. Can you tell our audience a little bit about? What does that mean to tuna sandwich to three month vacation? What does that mean to you? So this this covenant Hobbes got to and it's around Christmastime and Calvin is this character this guy for those who don't know Calvin Hobbs and then Hobbes's this philosophical idea that he has not real just a figment of his imagination anyway they behave Zodiac boats real or the Diet goes real now. It's almost Chris. Simon galvanise making a list. And he's saying I want a rocket ship. I want this launcher. And he's making the massive list which lots of people do and eventually he realizes Hobbes's around any goes and what you want for Christmas and he says I wanted Tuna Sandwich. And they'LL CALVIN GOES BALLISTIC. You going to get all the staff sanders and the business of doing an making off of this up as I go. But essentially that's what he says he says you get all the stuff and then you get to it. Got To Christmas Day and galvanise. I'm GONNA sue Santa. He didn't bring me on any of my staff. And and Hobbes's ago Tuna Sandwich and the point is have you defined? What your tuna sandwiches. Because almost any way you look I mean we're not just talking about now the Internet but if you look in ancient Rome or you look at eighteen grease or India or China. It's always we have to double we have to grow. We have to expand we have. But what is your tuna sandwich I mean? When do you stop to be happy? I mean that's the problem because you know yesterday's focus one hears about fifteen million people that follow him. When does he stop to be happy? And I have another friend. Who's writing a book about this? And we're trying to get a comer like title for him and one of the titles he got from a song. Which is the great pretender. Which is you know. What is it when you're going to be happy? And he said the most of the people that he knows. He coaches Sung Massoud bigshots. He says they're lonely. They're unhappy. They have lots of money. They have lots of fame at some level. And so that's what we decided. We decided that we need to know what tuna sandwiches and when you go back to the podcast or our philosophy it is that we work kind of how the day operates the day operates on a sixteen by eight which is what the one. Yeah well we tweaked a bit so we go through the one. Which is we worked for three months. Take them off another three moms. Take a month off three months. Take HIM ON THOSE. So that becomes a nine month work lamb and how much how much we need one in those nine months to make life very comfortable and the answer for us has been three times are expensive so if you look at. I don't know say your expenses. A fifty thousand a year than fifty thousand goes. You know you had one hundred. Fifty thousand fifty thousand goes into tax. Fifty THOUSAND GOES INTO EXPENSES. Fifty thousand dollars into your savings or investments. And I don't know some people might think to excess good. Some people think for X. is good but seven x is always crazy is always crazy because eventually nobody gets into business to double their business trouble their business. Nobody does everybody gets into business for only one reason is the is to control their own life and to make you happy you. That's it exactly and then it goes off on a tangent because somehow everybody else but use seems to have a Mercedes everybody else has done thousand people in fifty thousand dollars and everybody is going to Greece Thailand. Whatever it's not true most of the people I know at our level and we've been around for close to twenty years now so we know some people who like fifty million on the list. Ten million lot of them are miserable. And you find this misery when you speaking events like this huge stage. That's five hundred. People six thousand people in the audience. Whatever but there is a section which is called. The Green Room in the Green Room are all the speakers and the speakers. I'm talking about nothing but I can't wait to go and see my daughter because she has a school play and I'm here and they're always somewhere else and then they go on stage and it's like wow. This is amazing. So it's not hypocrisy. But they've lost sight of what the tuna sandwiches. Because you can't speak at these events you can do for events a year you can do one event that you treat you. Don't have to fifty. But because they don't find that tuna sandwich there's a -sconsin search for something out in the first place and that really points to you know. What are you content with? I think that's really what it boils down to people. Kind of getting this pattern of growth in road. Just for the sake of rowing. Why do you need like you said double your amount? Why do you need triple ten? X. That's crazy right. No some people were going to say. Well no I want to grow this big possibly Ken and make a billion dollars or whatever but why what is billion dollars going to give you that cash flow enough to meet every need. You have to have money to say decide for today's going to provide for you is really like you said. Your Tuna Sandwich. Can you be content with whatever that number is? What does that number? And what is not just a number but what is your lifestyle. Can you talk about three months vacation? How does that work for you in real life and do you actually like shut off email and everything or what happens during that month off you know we? Do you know somebody else. Checks are email so I think when you decide okay. I'm not gonNA check email. I'm not going to do anything. Not even facebook can stop because facebook or any websites can also bring bad news which can ruin your break and so we kind of go off the grid none of the Internet because he needed for Google maps. Not Off the grid. But you're off facebook email and stuff like that and then we have instructions that you know if there is an emergency which there hasn't been in the last fifteen years you know somebody back home can get through messenger but we don't check email. We don't do this because otherwise what we're doing is we're taking work to the beach. I don't know about you but as a kid. I never took my homework to the beach so I don't know how I see. All these pictures of people working the beach on thinking. No that's one of the beaches for I mean. It's a great view but it's not what the beaches for the beaches for sand and surf and possibly drinking few Margaritas non drowning but not to work at the beach. What's the point? I don't get it right and I brought my work to the beach and they know what I've just totally unsatisfied. What's the point of being at the beach? Really if you're going to spend all your time in a notebook or whatever and so I agree with you there nowadays. I don't do that anymore if I'm going to the beach it's time off or if I'm going to the mountains it's time off. I can woods whatever it is. It's time off in a lengthy you said you know. There's not really that much in the way of emergencies but to really pull away from work forbid something. I've started doing a little bit of a summer. This year is take a day off every week. Just take the day off and do something that is non work related and stay on the computer and I'm still struggling with that to be honest because it is kind of pulling our check email all I gotta do this and I think a lot of slipping here is probably have that feeling that I want to get to in a sense where you are right now. So the point is I'm not saying that will go on on vacation. Stop checking email right away because you have two things. One is work momentum and then you have a holiday memento and when you come back from a holiday you don't feel like working if you've been away long enough in the same thing happens with work you kind of go on holiday and then you check email but if you have someone who's and this can be just innocuous is just for. Nukus system my sister so she kicks it. She knows okay some downloads. I gotTA DOWNLOAD. This is what and the rest of them. She says okay. They're on vacation. If it's urgent you know let me know. We've not had a situation where people go. Oh leave them alone. Let them have a good time. We've not had that situation and I think that what you have to do is get someone who's instructions are before I wake up clear all the emails like leave it blank because on vacation. Maybe it's Day One and you're not used to being on vacation you go you check your email. There's not you wake up the next day. There's nothing by the third day ago. This is totally pointless. "Hey, Rebecca, thanks so much for being my first guest of twenty nineteen. So your book title is very evocative. But it doesn't exactly send an immediate message of hope. Of course, most black folks will no it's aligned from famous Notorious B I g song, but tell our listeners how you came to choose it as the title of your book, and what does it mean to you? So I chose the title dream because I grew up in this era where rob wasn't something. That was new where rappers were making it where their dreams are coming true where you know, a guy without of voice, so to speak from bedside grew up to be the Notorious B I. Like, Florida and money and women, and you know, that's problematic for a lot of ways. But their dreams were realized. And then I came of age when Barack Obama was becoming president. And then Trump, and it feels like what happened right exa- wasn't all. Knots remixed right with Jay z. But I I want to also talk about this idea of the American dream. And what does it mean to you specifically? And why do you think we need it so desperately? Oh, man. I think America is a complicated place. You know, and I think the American dream is this idea that we have been telling ourselves for for centuries about America that it is this place of great hope and great opportunity when America was really founded on, you know, slaughter of native Americans, and then slave men of African people America's really problematic. But this one thing that I do think seems United States is that you can move up. No matter where you come from. No matter your background or class or race or sex and think that. In a nation that really needs something to connect us together. That is not so homogeneous doesn't have people from the same religion or the same background. I think we need something to find us all together. And I think the forever it's been the American dream, and it's sort of courses through different generations. Absolutely. And I think it's so fascinating for me. The black folk are tied to it that it's so in our culture, and I didn't even realize this until I really started to look at it. But you know, there is optimism there is hope, and I think black people need it because America's been really bad to us. And if we don't have that like, I'm not sure what else we have your book is really the first to address black millennials. There's that recent BuzzFeed piece that purported to talk about all millennials and essentially talked about white millennials. Why do you feel like black millennials have been so invisible, you know, millennial in general have had it rough? You know, we are super broke we have an uncertainty in un-unstable. That generations before us. I think didn't have it. But I think that the thing with black millennials is that we live on a different plane kind of. I mean, it's not we're we're invisible because I think we're so visible in some ways society where in culture, it's not like they're segregation so to speak or formal segregation where we can't drink from the same water fountains anymore. You know, you don't see cops beating us over the head so much. I mean, unfortunately, you you see it a little much. But I think it's an interesting space to be in because I think on the surface things look equal to a lot of people particularly white Americans in particular young white Americans. It looks like you know, we have the same lives as them in. That's so not true. I mean, black lives matter like the fact that young black people had to tell the world that their lives matter is like we're not the same like weight young white people did not really have to do that. I've been talking with Renuka Allen her book is called. It was all a dream a new generation confronts. The broken promise of America for more rebel. Go to Gotham dot com..
