S. and China are closed a locking down a partial trade deal futures jumped one point seven percent yesterday pushing a weekly advance to eight tenths of one percent and Dante hall one of the most successful oil traders of his generation is now predicting the biggest shift yet in the global market and that is the end of demand growth while the view may not be original it underscores the gloomy forecast last week from the Paris based international energy agency saying that global oil consumption will plateau in about a decade hello this week we'll be hearing from a number of fed speakers including New York fed president John Williams who will be speaking of the surf mine annual capital markets meeting in Washington as for the interest rate backdrop Troy guy eski as co chief investment officer at skybridge capital in terms of the fed you clearly they cut for a third time and most importantly our view there now spending their balance sheet at a faster pace than they were doing TV three which is obviously given support to markets as well and David Belin is global head of investment sent city group the impact of lower rates takes time six to nine months to the typical wagon when you have not only the fed easing but other central banks all around the world forty of them doing that you could see some but a real tangible benefits from that which is why this whole focus on imminent recession by everyone when is a good worker makes no sense to to us United Airlines says it will be keeping its grounded Boeing seven thirty seven MAX aircraft off of its flight schedule until March fourth following the lead of other U. S. carriers recently American Airlines said it expected to resume flying the Max on March fifth southwest pulled the Max from its schedules through March six global news twenty four hours a day on air and the tick tock on Twitter power by more than twenty seven hundred journalists and analysts in more than one hundred twenty countries I'm Charlie Pellett this is Bloomberg this is Bloomberg businessweek Kelly and killing lines from Bloomberg radio earlier this week I had a chance to sit down with admiral Mike Mullen was the head of the second annual summit on security hosted at the nine eleven memorial and museum and Bloomberg we should point out was a media sponsor of that event Mullen he served as the chairman of the joint chiefs of staff for presidents bush and Obama from two thousand seven to twenty eleven he was in the situation room with president Obama when seal team six killed the world's most wanted terrorist Osama bin laden well we've been hunting for bin laden for intensely for years and and I think just the fact that it took so long took a decade to to get to that culminating point is indicative of how difficult a target he was in the care with which she turned to hide and those around them and it was an incredibly intense effort to do that obviously we were doing other things we had a war in Iraq we had a war in Afghanistan but we never lost focus in in one of the one of the groups I'd like to give credit to there was a special I think run on CNN a few years ago the four ladies in the agency who in the late eighties for really started and stayed after bin laden when they have no resources nobody was paying much attention to Norman so it's been going on for a long long time and and and then it culminated obviously and better intelligence and in the last few months really I didn't get involved until January in terms of what the possibilities might be and and that was right because from one of my concerns was by all of our concern was if there'd been any indication that we knew he would have he would have laughed and in fact his his principal advisers were telling him in that time frame that we actually killed him and it was time to go they were concerned he'd been there too long right and they needed to move so had it not happened that night it could've been another decade before we found was that night like people ask me that famous picture and one of the reasons I think it's famous is because it really does capture the moment and it was very very tense that sad it was a decision and it was a courageous decision from my perspective on the part of president Obama because we didn't actually know he was there we have lots of circumstantial evidence I viewed it as about the presidency decision that the president made and and the night itself the actual night of the the killing was we were into that operation you know for to the couple days at that point so it had it had been going for some time and there had been rehearsals and lots of our rations go on for literally for mines in the event that we could pin him down so we we had planned this this down to a level of detail that would in the and allow us to kill him but one of the things I am I like to remind people of his that same night in Afghanistan there were fourteen other missions similar to that that were that were carried out and while strategically this one certainly have the highest risk we have done thousands and thousands and thousands of these missions over the course of the years that we have been fighting so I had every expectation that if he was there we were going to either be able to capture or kill on that said it was tense and it wasn't over until it was over and by that I mean literally not just the killing them or get them out of getting them back into Afghanistan taking his DNA and positively identifying him getting him on a helicopter flying through Pakistani airspace and getting them out to a care and see where he could be buried consistent with his beliefs his religious beliefs which is what we did and so when you think about that moment any fast forward to today what has it ultimately meant for the war in terror which has not ended eight in many ways and has only become in some ways more complicated well I think it's it in in terms of having a huge impact on the al queda organization it did when you take out a leader like that just as the very recent right killing Baghdadi has had a big impact on the ice is organization but it doesn't make the ideas go it doesn't make the aspiration go away and it hasn't with al queda nor has Baghdad is death done that with isis and so I think we have to stay at this we still we still are in a situation where were we are seen as the the evil empire if you will from the terrorist perspective and they continue to come after us and that was admiral Mike Mullen former chairman of the joint chiefs of staff you can hear our entire conversation it's this week's Bloomberg businessweek extra podcast and I should point out Michael Bloomberg the founder and majority.
