"It's 6 18. There are some new movies out in theaters this weekend. Frank, sweet tick of the movie Review website one guy's opinion com joined Kayla up Steven Avery morning show to talk about several releases, including Little Things, starring Denzel Washington. You know exactly a department favorite. Things probably changed a lot since he left still gotta catch him, right? Yeah, not that much of stains. I don't think this one's stars Denzel Washington who is absolutely incredible with television license man. It's a police procedural set in 1990 in Los Angeles, and it feels like it was written in the 19 nineties. It's very indebted to seven That great thriller The That came out in 1995 with Morgan Freeman and Brad Pitt on it throws in a bit of training day to go along with it. Denzel Washington plays Guy who a few years previously had been on the L. A police force, uh, chasing a serial killer. This picture wants to be very clever, very deceptive. But it doesn't have the diabolical intensity. That's seven. Had it moves very slowly. It's a real disappointment. It promises a lot. The pedigree is very good. Washington is good. Remmy Malik, On the other hand to place the young Detective East. The guy who won the Oscar for Bohemian Rhapsody. He's straitjacketed by his rather prim, prissy role. I was very much a disappointed by the little things other people might be a feel differently. It does hold your interest, but by the time it's over, you're likely to say is that all there is to it. Might be an okay way to pass a couple of hours, I guess. Yeah, that's about it. All right. That's called the little things moving on we've got. Justin Timberlake is an ex con who starts a friendship with a boy from a troubled home. It's called Palmer Beer floats. What? Mom, I know where my mom is going back. I wish I did. I haven't felt like I was good at anything until Sam. I'm down anyway. Are you all right here? That little voice is just.

"Theaters. And this is AH little movie a little movie in the best sense of the term that they're putting up for a lot of acting Oscar awards, and I think it's got a shot. What we've got here is a longtime couple played by standing too achy and Colin Firth and Stanley touch. His character is knows that he has dementia. It is it is coming on him. Quicker than he would like. And the film is tells the story of how they deal with it over a period of several days when they've gotten into their old RV and are driving around to some of the places that are important to them from their past. This is set by the way in the English like country, So it's the same reason absolutely beautiful, but it's really just about how you deal with that diagnosis, and anyone who's had that kind of situation in their family knows how tough it is to deal with. I certainly do and it's told mostly just through close ups of their individual faces as they Go through the various stages of it. I found it to be completely authentic. Legitimate. I really got into it a lot. They're terrific. I could see either of them or both of them getting a Nostra nomination for best actor. It really is that good and I can't recommend it highly enough. Well, that'll touch a lot of people. I'm not sure Depending on how close you are in on that issue that that could be painful. Exactly. If you're too close to it is not something you'd want to see. But if you like these two stars than give it a look and last 30 seconds, what's the little things? The little things is a much better than average cop movie with Denzel Washington and Remmy Malik, who won an Oscar a couple of years ago for the Freddie Mercury Thing. This one is in theaters, and it's also on HBO. Max. It is a serial killer story, but it's one with a difference. And let me just say this. We'll talk about more later next week, perhaps, but this is a movie that you need to watch very carefully. It does not lead you by the hand and show you everything you need to see. You've got to watch what's going on in it. And those who do If you like this kind of crime story, you will be well rewarded for it. If it's got Denzel in it that I'm interested, Okay, That's great. Hey, Mike Mayo, a movie guy from Mike Dash Mayo calm. Thank you. Take care. All right, 9 28 on this Friday morning. I think we can squeeze in a couple of calls here at 833804 11 48 3380 for 11 40. That does not include the trailers before. And I will tell you guys if you have this is not a big spoiler. There are no scenes in the end credits. Now. Okay. Good area. Thank you. However, everybody stayed in the movie because everybody in and I'm sure some of the people knew this because I knew going in there were no scenes at the end. But my movie, buddy. And I agreed that it was wrong to get up and leave a marvel movie before the end it's ended even though we knew there was no seen right? Because this was the end this the culmination. I mean, we've been to all of the movies we've done the previews we've sat to if felt wrong to get up and leave right in in terms of the movie. Wow. Gosh, there's a lot right there. There's a lot of moving parts. There's a lot of characters. I would have liked to seen a little more captain marvel considering the build up after the NC the end credits in 0 war in her movie. But I'm sure a lot of people want Spiderman fans wanted more Spiderman Black Panther fans wanted more Black Panthers when it comes right down to it. This was the movie for the core group. A lot of them. This is the last movie for them. I will say bring Kleenex not necessarily a spoiler. It's the end of an era so cry just one twenty two movies in the franchise. Yes. And this woman has done all that she's done just for the equality of women and people in general, she is unbelievable. Please watch this. We'll watch it. I I remember seeing a a adult film called masturbaters Ginsburg. I think it's a little different. But this is different little entirely different movie. Yes. Yeah. Is this was an actual documentary on Ruth, Bader Ginsburg. And she and by the way, they show young pictures of her hot. Oh my God. Stunning. Stunning. I was like you better work. First woman to be an all these different clubs. He wasn't the first supreme Justice, obviously, Sandra Day O'Connor, but she was the first woman in all of these different things through Columbia University. She was really unbelievable. The Diane Warren is nominated for an Academy Award for the same song which. Yes, since called I'll fight this is Diane. Warren's tenth Oscar nomination and all deserve it. I hope she wins. So many good songs. But yeah, I will. I will you saw on the plane. I saw it on the plane. Yeah. And I honestly didn't expect to be choked up. I kept crying. Yeah. And I'm not that girl. You know that? So it was like, whoa. Wow. That's how moving it isn't the company that did it whoever shot. It was brilliantly done the story was masterfully told and the relationship she had or with Justice Scalia like, you know, two opposing, but they just got each other really interesting stuff. So. Sure, you watch that. I also saw. Stars born when I was over there because you and I talked on tax, but I've been away for so long. We have talked about it. That was amazing. It was both of the relate the performances lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper was beautifully done. I am honestly offended that he was a nominated for best director because I think he did really beautiful job. He did a great job. But really, let's bohemian rhapsody. Did you see I never saw that real Rammie? Malik honest to God. The last twenty minutes is him not spoiling because you know, what happens is him play Live Aid. It is watching Freddie Mercury. And they of course, use, Freddie, mercury's voice. Yes. Okay. But it's Lou move by move authentic Remmy Malik. I think he's probably gonna win the Oscar will he is so good. He is so good. Oh my God. I was blown away cook my jaw was on the ground. 'cause it was watching Freddie because right after me like everybody else. I'm sure jumped on YouTube to watch that performance is it's like twenty minutes, and it was moved by move. And he said he studied Freddie, for a year and a half before he took the role, and it was so so so good police show. He really he fingered, Freddie. He FREDDY got fingered. Ringeard by Remmy is named Grammy. Malik RIMI rally R A M ramming. Yeah. Okay sexy. He sexy. I like him. Yeah..

"The Mus for the favorite and Powell Polack hausky for Cold War, which is film that came out of nowhere ever even heard of it. But someone campaigned hard for the. So Alan Koran one for Roma. And again, you haven't seen this. I can see that film was really a love letter to Mexico Akkad tell it was very personal. And it's just it's such an interesting film. Okay. What Chit see of in grosses you? It's it's three hours long about almost nothing. And I enjoyed it. I didn't I didn't love it like some people worship this film. But I do appreciate its aunt. And how it was made with so much love and passion. So that's director good old alpha Cronyn, I love him as a director. He's fantastic best song. So you had shallow from lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper. She won the Oscar for very very Pap -solutely to me that was a shoe in. I actually didn't even remember the other songs that was one from like. Yeah. The BUSTER of ballots Strug's and from Black Panther on stuff. The song was amazing. And again, we've talked about it that that performance just kind of blew everything out of the water. It really was incredible best original music school. She had Black Panther your black klansman Mary Poppins returns. I love dogs, and if Beale street to talk they were the nominees and Black Panther one. Well, I loved about that was for film made like, you know, predominantly by these African American people it was this really like German looking guy was like aren't be of day would log. What your old guy? What's his name? Forgive me. Like Ludwig van Duke. VM even that an accident. It was just so funny to me he was like as white as white can be with long hand. It looks like he won't straight out of Baheen rhapsody. Yeah. The music from panther was fantastic. Good. You're totally right. The Oscars at did win. It really deserves. It really did. You know, I liked that. Because honestly of et one best picture, or you know, if one like an acting thing I would have been like are they? Are they giving it as a politically correct thing? I'm just saying no disrespect like Mike will be doing knows mazing in that movie. But I didn't feel like Oskar were these they truly deserve. When I especially when I took the competition's like, I totally see that. That's that's deserving. Okay. Good. And then see what other categories were just some of the main wants to talk about. Okay, good. So of course, we have best actor Bradley Cooper for a star is born was nominated Christian bale for vice who was like the favorite everyone thought. He was absolutely a show into win. Looks pretty good from the I mean, he's won supporting actor for the fighter, but he's never won best actor, and again, he totally transformed for this ROY gained sixty pounds to play Dick Cheney, blah, blah, blah, Remmy Malik for Bahia wraps, the he was the actual popular favorite like all the all the fans wanted him to win. But it was kind of almost like the underdog because bay was getting older kudos. He ended up winning which was beautiful. And each was. So sweet we'll talk about that in a minute. And then Willem Defoe attorneys gay. He plays Vincent Van Gogh. I haven't seen that yet. I mean, I love Willem Dafoe. So it's great to see him nominated and then Vigo Mortenson for green book, and I love Vigo. Yes. Let's talk about Remmy Malik winning. I mean, I was totally rooting for him. And I was so happy to see him win. Yeah. And his. Yeah. It was it was really sweet he just he was really communicating how how fast society has come right in what kind of films now making what were shining a spotlight on. He made this point which someone on again social media managed to make into a bad thing..

"I thought he was tremendous. I think he absolutely deserves the nomination. I do not think Sasha baron Cohen could have done as well. He wouldn't have heart. That's for sure Sasha baron Cohen. I think would have traipsed into the territory you're talking about it with vice Fellag, it would have been an impression. Yeah. He would've figured out sort of character traits and mimic them, very well. But Rammie Malik the emotion. Was there the struggle of guy being gay and not being able to be? Openly gay because of his background and the time he was living in and his confusion and everything it was all there. He nailed this fucking part without Remmy Malik that would have been a bad movie. I agree. I mean, he held together a two and a half hour bio pic, really well. And you always sort of were able to believe you're watching one of the most charismatic people of all time. That's no small feat is a really good performance Willem Defoe in at eternity is gate. What not only have? I not seen it. I don't know anyone who's seen that movie with the fuck is that I believe he's playing Picasso. So that's a movie that I will never see. Although Julian Schnabel directed it who did. What's the one where the guy like paints with his mouth? That was a good diving bell and the butterfly that was a good movie, actually. And Juliette snob was a good director. But folks, I got no interest in another bio pic of a painter. I'll tell you that much watch up a CASA with the fo-. He's probably real crazy about the movies, so boring. It's like watching paint dry full. Next up is Bradley Cooper. And as Andrew dice clay said, hey, you know, maybe next year, you'll get some directing thing. Does she it's all about the acting? That's what you're known for be happy. Bradley Cooper is good in this movie. He is that picture makes me sick that the picture is why I'll never truly respect Bradley Cooper. I'm looking at a picture of him like biting, his fist like like blanche to Baugh are blanche Devereaux excuse me on the golden girls and staring off into space. The thinker isn't any like a pensive actor, and it's really gross. Fuck off hearing him and lady Gaga talk about acting and their connection and everything is pretty sickening. The truth is for a direct Oriel debut. It's a really well directed movie, I heard it was saved and editing. But regardless what's on the screen is great. And he's really good in it at some points..

"Crap. You watched both. Right. And which one did you say I should start with Hulu starving you and then go net flex the net. Flicks. One's a little more dynamic and dramatic. But it's because the people who did it like when they were also in trouble, and they kept themselves out of the trouble story, and Netflix, but it's better. So watching both it doesn't matter. It's crazy. Want to throw me a festival now? I saw let's see I did not see bohemian rhapsody. The reviews were terrible the river terrible bohemian rhapsody, and that's being nominated for everything. But I'm excited because I love Queen. I think there are probably two or three artists in our lives in our history that would still be relevant today if they came out, and we're a new band. I think notorious Biaggi would be one because. Yeah. I think his style was so different that you put it on. Now. People say, oh, that's fresh same thing with Queen sound was so different. You put it on radio and everybody like, oh, look at his new band. That'd be said reviews. Weren't good mighty saw that. Yeah. I mean, I liked it. Because it made me go back listen to their music. Yeah. Love it again. But it just wasn't great. You think great either numb? Black Panther thought. It was really free. Yeah. I did think I love superheroes though. I thought it was good. I thought it was almost great. None of these movies that I've seen in along away though. But I didn't think it was really good. Everybody else in the other ones. Now, I'm seeing a single one me neither. Any of the other ones? That's all Roma is on Netflix. And Netflix movies, nominates a Netflix movie. Well, that's cool. Yep. Check it out. It's about fire fest. Fire with a why? The favorite though, is supposed to be really really good advice wasn't getting good reviews. John. Gained weight and actor in a leading role Christian bale and vice Bradley Cooper and a star is born. I can see Bradley Cooper. He was so good as movie like I'm into know movies mid-may four times as ours. Born really through different generations. Oh, wow. I've seen the one with Kris Kristofferson that was why didn't know that William Remmy Malik is in bohemian rhapsody plays. Right. But he is I. Mister mister robot?.

He's the former Marlins team president. What what is the movie we're talking about this week? Hey, it's a great time ear it's Oscar time, I'm reviewing bohemian rhapsody, which is obviously what everyone knows movie about Queen, Freddie. Mercury. Played by Rani. Molla Kuh is going to win the best actor it's between him and Christian bale and vice which we talked about last week. It's an unbelievable performance better than Val Kilmer as Jim Morrison and the doors. That's how good he was being Freddie, Mercury. The movie itself is absolutely imploding with three exceptions. Is it too early to do? Spoiler alert as everyone else to do. Spoiler alert. Yeah. You can't you can't be telling people yet about human rabbit in terms of things that are going to spoil the stores spoiler. Could there be it's a bio pic and thirty plus years ago? I agree with that. The fact is he dies at the end. Deigned it right here for all listeners. Freddie. Mercury dies. So you'd like them moving. I had no idea you'd like them movie David which is a little surprising. It's actually the worst reviewed movie to ever win the Golden Globe for best picture drama, and I'm a huge Queen fan. And I also like Remmy Malik, and I was disappointed by the movie thoroughly I thought they took such creative license at then think it was honest, but the Live Aid scene at the end that was worth the price of admission. Well, those are the things that was going to talk about I was very disappointed with the four five things that they did that they don't need to do. And it made me think about all the movies that are based on true stories. Why is it for dramatic purposes? You have to add certain things when the story itself is so dramatic. This is the number one example where they didn't have to do it. And they did. And that's why it's been reviewed so badly, but you have to see it not just for the Live Aid seen, but. All the musical scene. You end up. I was here in the last twenty minutes of the entire movie thinking about the impact Queen had. And what a group they weren't. How sad it is. But he died so young it is kind of awkward at award season two because Bryan singer was essentially kicked off the project because of how he was treating people onset. So it's now winning all these awards yet Bryan singer is not there yet got full credit for the first thing that I did after watching this movie, by the way, I woke up the next morning, and I saw the actual Live Aid performance. You should always get to shot. Shot. It's amazing. How will they did that down to the, you know, the the soda on the piano, everything every little thing? Remmy Malik deserves the award just based on how well he imitated him. I had a chance to talk about this movie with someone who is who is not alive during the time of live eight because I wanted to understand what their view of Live Aid was and the worst part is there would some recognition of the words Live Aid or band-aid. But no idea that it was that type of concert. No idea that it was simultaneously in Philadelphia. And London that Phil Collins did both on the same day. No idea of any of it. Bob geldof..

"And we changed the way we live our lives in order to succumb to it. We'd never get made. Fact, you couldn't even get Christian investors to get this film made because they would say, no one will come and see it this film at you've seen it right air. I am not. Okay. This film does this and Remmy Malik as as, Freddie. Mercury is incredible. So it is it's it's number nine on my list. Number eight on my list from top ten films of twenty eighteen I always try to get at least one faith-based movie on the list. I won't if if there aren't any good ones though, I won't give the family discount. All right. It's got to be a good movie. I can only imagine as a very very good movie, very powerful movie. And it it does something that Christian films. Traditionally struggled with which is to show the ominous impact of sin in order to make that emotional connection without glorifying in the process too, often Christian films won't even go there because they're concerned about basically making Darth Vader, look cool. And so they just kind of makes and almost like why would anybody be tempted by? This. Why would anybody be intimidated by this? Why would anybody be afraid of this? It looks antiseptic homogenized. This film doesn't do that. Dennis Quaid gives a pretty raw portrayal as the lead singer of mercy me's abusive father, and it's exceedingly well done. And even though you know, how it ends. You know, kind of like, you know, how you know Titanic ended. But the path they took you to get there. Still moved you at the end. Anyway, you know, the movies end with the stirring debut of of maybe the best selling song and a history of Christian music, but still when it happens. It's still makes the hair on the back of your neck stand up. Anyway, highly recommend number seven on my list Sicario day of the sold out..

"Why didn't watch all of it? I did have to get to bed. But because I wanted to see Remmy Malik and I wanted to see bohemian rhapsody win. That was really the only reason why I kind of a shocker I think I think everybody kind of thought it was gonna be a star is born half the movies that were on their. I'd never even heard of. Well, the intro. The intro was way over pushed they were trying to Sandra ho in Andy Sandberg, we're just not that good. I mean, it was it was they were trying way too hard and the intro. It was like you had to calm him down bring him back in. And then the Carol Burnett tribute was absolutely fantastic. Except for you know, the Steve Carell ahead to bleep him out in the middle of it. And as you heard ABC, Christian bale was being his best Christian bale? And that was thank you know, is inspiration coming from Satan as he portrayed Vice President Cheney doesn't like a Brit getting into our politics is so well, he just Christian Bill has always been a little off center in that shouldn't surprise anybody. Joe? And I were talking about v buns. Are I say the, but you know, I guess vice? You know, you into to you're going to go. You're one of two people are going to go see that movie. I if you're gonna go see you don't like the vice president anyway. So it's just going to be kind of a feel good story for you. If you are offended vice-president, you're not going to go see it because you know, what it is. So it was kind of Christian bale sort of embracing himself right in coming to the spotlight. But it was you know, the the show overall had its moments. It wasn't as politically decisive as it has been in the past divisive divisive. It hasn't been as politically divisive as it has in the past. I agree overall. I went to bed at nine o'clock thinking, I didn't get a chance to see Remmy Malik. I wasn't disappointed that I tuned in. But it wasn't anything. I would have went out on my way to see bohemian rhapsody wins best motion picture for drama. Best motion picture musical or comedy is green book, which actually looks really really good. I think it's. Yeah. Well, it is someplace, but it looks really is it on Netflix. Perhaps. I have a check that out. I haven't seen it though. Anyway. I'd heard of it was when they won last night. I think it looks really good the Kaminsky method that was the one that I was glad I. Let's that's on. Netflix could see Michael Douglas up there in his self. And there were a couple of political stands, but not anything. It wasn't as crazy as it has been in years past. It was it was pretty in the broad scheme of things you've given the current climate low key. But it's just I'm just not a fan right of rich people padding other rich people on the back telling other rich people how well they've done. No stuff. It do you. Craft if you are successful at your craft, that's one thing. But if you're a rich grandstanding scumbag like Hollywood that I just don't have your casting a broad brush again, they're willing. And it's now jump ahead to current day is the most streamed song from the pre streaming era and the most streamed classic rock song of all time. That's according to Vivendi essays, Universal Music music group that I'm reading this out of today's Wall Street Journal. This is amazing. Susan, this is such a great song. I mean, how many generations has this song touched? Yeah. Like absolutely from nineteen seventy five and here, we are in two thousand eighteen and it gets a big resurgence, partly because of the bohemian rhapsody movie the movie, which stars Remmy Malik. And we found out Thursday when the Golden Globe nominations came out that he is nominated for best performance by an actor in a motion picture drama. Nice. Yeah. Have you seen the movie yet? I haven't. But I still want to see it. I think that Christmas week is going to be the week. You know, right after Christmas kind of go does that drama, and it's supposed to be just an amazing amazingly well done movie, and if seen interviews with the cast, and they seem very just honored to have been part of that whole production. You know? So if you have you seen it, let me know give me a call six five one nine eight nine nine two to six so parents this single it after the movie came out in the movie, by the way, became the highest grossing music biopic in history within its five I five weeks of release. So think of all the biopic of these different artists. Yes, Jim Morrison? And now on on Broadway. The share the call, you know, so all these people, but this is incredible. And what I love about this kind of thing is that it it helps I you know, that was really before my time too. So I didn't really know Queen like some people some fans of Queen milk Queen and love Queen. I had all their albums. Did you really did you date anyone with hair like that? No. Yes, they were. They're definitely had that the monster hair going, but that was before big hair bands before starting right because big hair bands were Ryan kind of the start of that was really interesting interested one person wrote Rossini loved the music you choose. Thank you very much. I appreciate that. I just thought this made news, you know, this is making news this song. And I wanted to bring it to people and and just kind of a little going down memory lane. I saw a biopic on, Freddie. Mercury. And they talked about this song when he wrote it. Yeah. And the producer said six minutes, you're you're nuts. No one is ever going. No radio station is ever gonna play your song. If it's six minutes that just is not going to happen. But he's so. Love this song. I mean, he so was so behind this piece. He just he stuck by his guns. Yeah. Should we play? Should we hear a little you want to hear? Well, you know, as you know, this song has like different movement. Yes, it has different movements. What are you going to give us now? Mixologist figure this out. I'm just going to kind of hit it where the where it..

"And then there was a whole thing where apparently the directors guild has only one person can ever be named as the director, which probably explains why you know, how jaw Sweden came in and directed part of Justice league because x night or had part because family tragedy, and so, but then Zach signer is gets has the only credit anyways. I thought that was sort of interesting, and I didn't realize Bryan singer director of this movie. Anyways. It stars Rummy Remmy Malik from a mister robot. As Freddie Mercury. And he's from Bo Jack horsemen true also from Bosak horsemen, he's a wild performance. It's it's really a lot. It's very much one of those the actor is doing the thing where he really tries to be this other person and at times that can be a little much. But honestly, he's really good. I didn't realize how big Freddie mercury's teeth were he had a really pronounce over bite. And so they gave Romy Malik these big teeth and use the whole performance through these ventures. And but they've done a great job with it. I think it's a cool story. It's about a ban that I didn't actually know the full story of just know their music super well, because I'm like obsessed with how good Queen is that they're holistic and style is like one of my favorite musical aesthetics that exists and. Watching them come together kind of bicker. They were always actually a very functional ban. They don't do the thing that so many other bands do where they fight and they'll age most of the, Freddie Mercury was a lot. He had a very complicated life, but the rest of them are pretty straightforward and they disagree about stuff. But then they just rail these great songs they're very collaborative, and it's fun to watch. And then they use the recordings from the actual recordings of the band. They do the whole Live Aid performance that they did. And it's just you basically get to watch Queen this version of Queen perform a lot which is just really fun. So I thought it was a pretty fun movie. And I don't have a super nuanced take on it. I don't know a whole lot about Freddie, Mercury life. But it was fun to watch a bunch of Queen music in the movie. So. Yeah. I wonder I always think of a quote that I saw about Penn and teller, and they're talking about the relationship and talking about how they're like, not close friends, and that's part of what makes them Mabel to just like beyond the road together constantly and challenge the other, and I always wonder about bands, like if if one of the keys to being a successful band is to just see yourselves as just like co workers who collaborate together and not like close friends. Yeah. There is that and it has some cool things to say about collaboration. It's kind of a weird movie because it's both a movie about Queen. And also a specific movie about Freddie, Mercury..

"And if you're wondering what this foam is if the anticipation is killing you this movie is Bahia mean rhapsody now what is Bahamian wrap. See what's basically a Queen biopic. It really more focuses on, Freddie. Mercury. You know? And it's got Remmy Malik playing, Freddie. Mercury which I have to just applaud I think it's an amazing casting choice. I wasn't sure about it at first like, you know, what I haven't seen Remmy Malakand too much. Yeah. He was in twilight breaking breaking dawn, part two. Yeah. He's on mister robot, which I've heard is a really good show. But I don't really personally I didn't really personally know much of what he was in. So it's like, well, I don't know if he's a good choice or not. I just don't, you know? It's just the reality. There's a really cool Cameron this movie with Mike Myers. I will get into he plays a character. I think it was. Really, really fun. But so this movie basically follows Queen from their start from their humble beginnings like their rise to the top all the way to them playing it Live Aid. It's about a two something our movie like I want to say almost two and a half hours. But it didn't drag on it really did. And it was one of those movies. Like, man, you just kind of it was one of those -biotics where it gripped me. And it just didn't let go and I didn't want it to make. I just love how they did the movie like Remmy Malik does a great job. Look like, Freddie. Mercury. He can sing really really. Well, you know, they have a bunch of scenes where they like they do a bunch of really great songs. It was kind of cool. See how the band originally came together? It was really kind of cool to see that to see a bit of, you know, Freddie, mercury's, you know, home life. You know, where he was going at first. You know, how the band came together? There's some really cool scenes about like, you know, they do we will rock you. And also, it does look like, you know, Freddie. Mercury sexual -ality. Just does it's kind of a part of the story. And it's really cool to just see what I got. It was so much good about this movie. Where do I even begin? So it starts I there's one really cool moment on I talked about Mike Myers where he plays one of their producers for one of the record labels at one point. And the big moment comes to they do, you know human rhapsody, the actual song, and, you know, the record company, and you know, Mike Meyers character is believe character believes that. Well, the song is too long. It's a seven minute song. There's no way people are gonna listen to it. It's too long. It's not going to do. Well, it's gonna bomb. It's just what's going to happen. They pretty much refused to play it. They refuse to make lake. You know, the top saw one of the top songs on the record. And he's just like nobody stations ever gonna play it. Right. So what's going to happen? And there's a funny history about this on where it at first didn't really do that. Well, it didn't you know, and a little movie in the nineties that Mike Myers happened to be in. You know makes makes a joke about it. Which is basically the gist of it is he says, you know, well, you know, what do you think someday kids you'll be the sentence in this car in their cars, head banging, I mean, I don't see that happening. If you've seen Wayne's world, you know, that's exactly what happens. And so the little history of that song is, you know, Mike Myers when they were getting ready to shoot Wayne's. What was like I wanted to do this song? And they're like, we don't know if you do that song. I don't think it's going to do well on. I think he got to a point. I've heard where he was ready to walk. He's like you either. Let me do Baheen rhapsody in this scene and trust me or no more movie for me. So they're like, okay fine. You can do human rap seeing that scene when you're all on the mirth mobile and listening to it fine. You can do it..

"It can happen. You can clap you can dance I think people stopped with their feet neck. The thing. I mean, it is definitely a tribute to the music just as much as it is a tribute to Freddie, Mercury and Queen as a band, it is it's the bio-pic stars Remmy Malik from mister robot as pretty burglary. And I do think kept trying to bring this screen for a while trying to originally had Sasha baron Cohen gonna play the role, and then I have been wish who's gonna play the world ended up with with Malik. And he does a fantastic job really becoming, Freddie. Mercury. And you know, I I don't even think there's just made for the Queen fan. I think this is made for you know, anyone who casually knows the music, which is pretty much everybody. I mean, they have such such a comic songs such Connex. Sounds and the the thing I really enjoyed about. This is it doesn't feel like it's just a cookie cutter bio-pic. And I mean, you can say they they left us out or they left that out or they. Should have focused more on this or that? But I think it's actually it it works because it there is a freshness to it. That's interesting because the music's forty years old. So that there's a freshness to it. That's an unbelievable thing. Well, with the music is is kind of how got developed and how that's the thing. I find it's they spent a lot of time on, and that's that's I think important because the music was so different. Absolutely. I mean, you hear Queen come on. Whether it's fat bottomed girls. Are you know? I mean, pick your song killer Queen all of it. You know immediately. That's the band. Absolutely. Yeah. They were they were like they were the Monty python of music where by being undefinable, they became definable. There you go. There you go. So that's going to be the big one probably, but there's some other ones out there. What do you know about the nutcracker in the four realms? Well, this is a sort of a reimagining of the nutcracker story. It's sort of the kind of like a soft sequel to it where the daughter of the character who was originally in the the the the ballet that story and she's brought into this fantasy world where. Where she has to help. Try and save the land from an outside threat. That's very opulent. It's very beautifully done did drips and Christmas. So I mean, we went boy we just gave her thanksgiving amiss and went straight from Halloween to Christmas on this one. And it is it's a beautiful looking movie kind of just a fairy tale adventure not heavily plotted and and a little bit predictable. But still I thought it was kind of enjoyable for the holiday season. Well, there's nothing wrong with that. I mean, sometimes you need a little escape and just kind of park the brain and enjoy and if it's opulent, and as you say drips in Christmas, that's what people want a lot of them. Sometimes. Yeah, we'll see how long this lasts if he can make a pass thanksgiving to get into the Christmas season. Yeah. I gotcha. Beautiful. Boy, that's out this weekend, isn't it? Yep. It star Steve Carell and a true story about a guy trying to help his son was substance abuse based on the memoirs of the father and the son. Timothy shallow may plays the son. I I wouldn't I wouldn't call this movie. A entertaining. The movie because it's very heavy. And it's and it's a tough to watch. Sometimes. But it what it does is it shows the realistic struggle that people go through no matter how much you want to help an addict, you gotta have the addict, helping immer self, and there's a lot of slipping and recovery that happens where have relapses and stuff, and it shows the frustration and helplessness helplessness of the people trying to help the person, I wonder if you know just time wise with, you know, all the opioid issues we have in the country, and you know, marijuana being legalized seemingly always either medicinal or recreational. I mean cannon all that's up. You just wonder maybe the time is right for movie like this. I think so I think much more about sort of like the opioid addiction and the Mesic dish the issues that are happening in this country. I think that's what it's really focusing on it because it doesn't reach real people. And and happened. I mean, there's you know, this stuff happens down the road from me, quite literally no matter where you live. No doubt. Kev. Have a great weekend. Appreciate it much. That's Kevin car followed. Oh him at fat guys at the movies dot.

"This is a movie with Romney Malik and this amazing cast that that that recreate this time and that band and to kind of let one person's misbehavior, deep, six hard hard hard work on the part of so many people hundreds in this case, hundreds of people. I mean hunt a huge effort in terms of the cast and the crew bass, what you focus on. Like that's what that's what the movie becomes sure. It's not a Bryan singer movie in its Remmy Malik movie. Everybody's movies. It's ended and it's and I will say one of the well, one of the things I really loved about it is that it's not even it's not even Freddie Mercury movie. It's a quaint, it's about the band. You know, it's just it's such a great testament to just, you know the team work and it was that was really neat. So. That's kind of a takeaway I brought home with. It was just, you know, his name comes up and it's a little jarring and then you move on, you watch the movie, you let the movie the movie wants to be. Yeah, and I think everybody has to make their own decisions about, okay, I, you know, I still listen to usual suspects. Come up a love that movie. I have a tough time with the now. I do. You know, there's certain things that will come up and I'll just be like, I, you know, I don't know if I can do that right now, but, but that's I can't sit here and tell everyone listening, hey, you gotta do this, you got it. Everybody's got to make those locating our fandom and is I was listening. They had another, you know, Molly ringwald wrote a beautiful piece for the New Yorker about John Hughes and about her ambivalence about him. Showing those movies to her daughter and realizing how sexist most of them were. You know, I mean, there was stuff going on in those movies about the way that young men retreating young women that we all just for granted at the time and you look at it in the context of today and think that's not a message I want to send my. Son or my daughter about what's acceptable, and but she still loves the movies. I mean it they made her career and she had a great time making them and she loved the people she made them with. And so it's kind of like, you know, she was giving voice to that feeling of like, you know, I love it, but that's, that's. That's something that I can't love 'em. It's complicated. Just got to be honest and work through it and be able to hold two thoughts in your head at the same time. It is, like we said before, these are complicated times, and the thing that's frustrating is as I said, go to the movies for your scape and then the movies become sort of the source of your complications. But but it was, I just wanted to bring those because I thought they were interesting a trailer that I saw an ano. It's always tough to judge movie by its trailer, and I've fall the, that's why I don't watch them. 'cause I don't wanna get my hopes up and then have them dashed.
