"Beamish head of macro research at CS Lombard joins us now What's your assessment of the weaker growth story in China at this point And how it expresses itself through the year On global markets and global assets Yeah so at the beginning I said that there's this kind of asset cycle that my colleague has identified in the U.S. In China there's been a credit cycle So there's not been a credit cycle in the U.S. but they're going to flip side of that and you can sort of think of the renminbi as the sort of the interlocutor of where the credit cycle actually exists In China they're very much has been the credit cycle since the global financial crisis So China is extremely exposed to this pincer movement between hawkishness at the fed and the slowdown in Eurasia And that is liable to expose the build up of bad debt that has been kind of lurking beneath the surface of liquidity in the past few years So how can a growth forecast for China cyclically speaking are quite grim if you think of the leads that's provided by liquidity growth the fact that the PBOC started tightening in May of 2020 points to a very weak nominal growth And then on top of that you have this continued high deflator which when you stack it all up could mean growth this year in real terms but in reality with a 3% handle or even a bit lower than that which is a frightening prospect for a country with that scale of bad debt Here more conversations like this one on Bloomberg television streaming live on Bloomberg dot com and on the Bloomberg mobile app or check your local cable listings Markets headlines and breaking news 24 hours a day At Bloomberg dot com the Bloomberg business app and at Bloomberg quick tape This is a Bloomberg business flash And I'm Cameron Moscow U.S. stock index futures and European shares are rising as investors await a key inflation report to gauge whether the fed's efforts to tame inflation in the world's largest economy are working We check the markets every 15 minutes throughout the trading day on Bloomberg S&P futures have 38 points down features of 247 NASDAQ futures have 141 The Dax in Germany is up 8 tenths of a percent The ten year treasury up 1330 seconds yields 2.93% yield on a two year 2.59% 9 X crude oil is up 3.1% of $3 13 cents at a $102 89 cents a barrel Gold up 6 10% or $10 50 cents at 1851 50 announced The Euro one O 5 5 7 against the dollar British pound 1.2365 The yen is at one 29.85 and Bitcoin this morning of 3% at $31,900 Today we are watching for the consumer price index is down at 8 30 Wall Street time and Disney's among companies scheduled to report earnings today That's a Bloomberg business flash Now here's Michael Barr with more on what's going on around the world Michael Here and thank you very much It's a split decision for Trump backed candidates in two GOP primary yesterday representative Alex Mooney endorsed by the former president won the primary to represent West Virginia's second district for Congress in Nebraska Jim Dillon beat 8 other candidates in the Republican primary for governor Pill and beat Trump candidate Charles herbster who is accused of groping several women In a rare bipartisan moment the house has passed to nearly $40 billion military and humanitarian aid package for Ukraine In baseball the Yankees Red Sox Orioles and giants won the mets beat the nationals the a split a double header with tigers angels rookie Reed detmers pitched a no hitter In the NHL playoffs the bruins lost to the hurricanes now Boston is behind in that series three games to two Global news 24 hours a day on air and on Bloomberg quicktake powered by more than 2700 journalists and analysts and more than a 120 countries I'm Michael Barr this is Bloomberg.

"So there's, again, always the makings of a contender when you have trapped note, but maybe this will be the year that they finally surround them with a supporting cast. I have two thoughts about this. Well, I have several thoughts but two most immediately to mind. The first comes from front of the show Emma bachelor who tweeted when this deal was announced much as I like to think I'm decently immune to superstitious thinking, I know that I'm not, because my immediate reaction to being approached by the angels is a picture with an injury history would definitely be sorry thing. But the weird vibes I can't. It does feel like the angels pitching stuff and the mets general inability to keep anyone healthy stuff or colliding in a way that seems very dicey, although is not in any way predictive of what will happen with syndergaard in this season. I do find here's the thing that I was struck by, I was talking about this with Ben Clemens in the fairing grass slack, and he pointed this out and I tend to agree. Kind of weird that it's a one year deal, yeah? Yeah, I guess so. Like, I get it from syndrome's perspective. If I am him, I want to reestablish value and show that I can throw maybe not a full complement of innings, but very good innings when I do throw them and the angels have said they're going to go with a 6 man rotation. And so I'm going to be in a position to manage my workload and hopefully stay healthy and then launch into something greater. But I find the decision on the angels part to go one year to be kind of odd because it's like if you're surrendering the draft pick, don't you normally? I think we often see these deals for more than one year. I guess is the point that I'm trying to make. And so that part of it is a little bit strange. I mean, there's definitely the possibility that in July, we look around and we're like, God, the angels rotation. It's fantastic. And there's also the possibility we look around in July and we're like porno with syndrome. That guy just can't help. Yeah, I guess sometimes you see those multiyear deals with a pitcher who still rehabbing his way back and it's like, okay, we'll just we'll sign you for two years and we don't even expect you to pitch the first year or maybe you'll be back late in the first year, but we'll have that cushion and if everything works out well, then it will be good for us because we'll have you for a second year center guard, maybe he feels like, hey, I'm just a healthy starting pitcher. Now I made it back and my rehab is over, but yeah there's definitely a bigger error bar and more uncertainty there. You can look at the rotation and say, okay, Otani, cinder geir Sandoval, Suarez, detmers, you've got a couple other guys in the mix, Griffin canning, Jaime barea. Cobb and Bundy are both free agents. But really, that's another case of like, well, if everything works out, okay, that could be a contending team's rotation, but when has everything worked out for the angels? So I would not be comfortable unless they were decided at minimum one more dependable starting pitcher. And I know that they've kind of talked about short term options and they've been linked to Verlander and again, not that would be a safer bet that center card, either coming off of his TA and at his age, so it would be kind of nice if they signed like, I don't know, Eduardo Rodriguez, for instance, but someone who is still available who does not have some serious injury issues attached to him prior to his arrival on the angels. Yeah. And then brio's, you know, it's an extension, so I don't have as much to say about it. But this is a case where the Blue Jays gave up a lot of pretty good prospects to get brio for the stretch run. They're a team that was kind of like in the tigers boat last off season where they were ramping up and the rebuild was done, and they were going to throw some money around and they did. And then they continued to show their willingness to upgrade the roster in season and brio was a big part of that. And ultimately, unfortunately, they fell short, but they were just tough to beat down the stretch, and they are bringing back most of that team, not the entire team Robbie ray is a free agent, of course, but having brio's who was under team control for one more year to begin with now that they've locked him up long-term. And they don't have to worry about that part of the rotation for a while. So again, they have the great young position player core and the question all along has been where are they going to get the pitching? And they've developed some and they've imported and signed some and traded for some and now extended some and it was actually a really good starting rotation in a good pitching team down the stretch to necessarily start out the season that way. But it was won by the end and brioche was one reason why. Yeah, I really like this. I enjoy it's sort of a funny way to think about this, perhaps, but I really enjoy when guys who have been traded for and to a team had to surrender a good amount in terms of viable prospects and various case top 100 guys to secure then ends up being extended and staying, which is funny because it just is a doubling down of your resource commitment, right? You gave up the prospects and now you're giving up money, but there's something about it that's like, yes, this worked out the way we wanted it to. We really like this guy. We think he's a good fit for the team. He makes us better and we're not going to be intimidated by the prospects that we traded in order to secure his services. We want to keep him around. There's just something about it that I find very satisfying. It's like validating the trade once more, which was a trade we liked at the time, you know, despite it being aggressive in terms of how many guys they had to give up to get them. So I like it. I kind of still would like to see them bring Robbie rape. I don't think that they are, perhaps in the Robbie ray, sweepstakes anymore, I don't know, I don't say that no one anything I just wonder if now that they've extended burritos and they will want to continue to spend on the market that they will shift their focus to the position player side of things because they have indicated that they want to still be active there. But yeah, this is exciting. I like it. Jose barrios is really fun. He's a great pitcher. He'll be good for them for a long time. It's cool. Yeah, I guess if you're a twin fin, you're sort of sad to see it just because you must feel like, hey, we could have signed him to that deal. You know, 7 years, a 131 million. I think people understood why they made that trade because they fell in so far out of the running in 2021 and they got good prospects back, but I guess part of what you're giving up when you trade a player like that away is the fact that the other team gets a chance to keep him for as long as it once gets to talk to him about an extension before he hits the free agent market and maybe the twins might have told themselves, so, you know, we can sign him when he hits the market in a year and a half, but that is not going to happen now. So the twins have to figure out where their pitching is going to come from, but hopefully the prospects they got back will develop in a way that will make it a little more palatable that they won't have Jose breasts. Now I'm Minnesota needs to sign Robbie ray. And then, yes. And then it's all then it's like no trade happened at all..

"Week to get it back to me in so that that really creates a problem. What if You decided that marriage made its work or anything else or you forgot whatever. It might be You fill out your ballot and you stick it in the mail and it doesn't arrive in time You know there's a problem with that. So i think this whole this whole issue can be alleviated by making sure that there are enough polling places enough tabulating machines for people to go Do their civic duty and an exercise their constitutional right to vote. I don't see there shouldn't problem with that. I think we're gonna find common ground here. And i'm very happy that we'd have that. Yes increase in the number of voting machines to have equitable access across the state on the soviet population density. I fully on board with their. And i'm on board with the idea that either your bit. Absentee voting should be equally applicable to everybody or restrictive. Everybody i think we had prior to twenty eighteen where there was no reason to voting for those over sixty five but everybody else you had to have a reason. I didn't like that system. I prefer the status quo of now but if you were to change it to kneel in person voting only and nobody about absentee i at least respect that is being more principled and consistent than what we had prior to twenty eight teens changes so i at least we can find some areas there that yes. Would you want to go on to another topic. Yeah that's fine Is there any that you would want to Obviously with your campaign. I wanted to be You're able to drive your message to into whatever issues. You're trying to focus on. Voting is is a biggie. I i think for a second issue. I'm a big To a guy. A big second amendment proponent. But i think moreover than that. "I don't know what it would turn up. Maybe it turns up nothing but a forensic audit if it's going to turn up anything at all it's gonna at least show us The chain of command chain of custody for each vote. It's gonna show us if there were any glitches if there are any problems if there was a programming error like we had in antrim county It's gonna show us any of those things in depth of how everything works I'll give you an example during the primary. I did contact a couple of our clerks offices around The county clerk and then a couple of township clerks To get a schematic and how they're voting machines. Work how i couldn't get it. Nobody had it. So these are the things that i think needs to be done and that only then can the legislature the state legislature then look added intelligently and say okay This is what the forensic audit statewide turned up. This is an area that we need to look at to secure to sure that nobody's disenfranchised and only illegal votes are counted accurately. But if there was a problem that was uncomfortable. A deep forensic analysis that you're calling for it would also be uncomfortable by the audits safeguards already in place and that's where i don't object to a more thorough audit but it seems to be at least from my perspective just cost with no actual potential for benefit because the benefit doesn't exist if it wouldn't possibly turn up anything that wouldn't already be uncovered from the audit all if you don't if you don't think restoring the confidence of all voters not just one side as benefit then we. I think i think we've exhausted this conversation. Okay on the weekends to the reason. Absentee voting. Yeah okay. His thirty percent of livingston. County voters prior to twenty twenty prior to the passage of proposal. Three that Opened it up to everybody. Thirty percent of our counties. Voters voted absentee in twenty sixteen and regularly. "And pull up a voter. I have a list of thousands of people that are supposedly dead. Maybe they're still alive. But they're they have death certificates. Who showed that they voted. And then you also have a list of people that are well over one hundred years old that are unverified whether they're alive or dead voting and wayne county so you have a problem there now. What i've heard time and time again as well. That's wayne county. That's a truck that's been happening for years. It's not enough to affect the outcome of election. So there's nothing to see here and that's complete bunk okay. Let's not be left is saying though with regard to those the leftist saying that when you take any specific case and you as soon as you look into it be below surface level. You'll see that it was handled properly. So for instance. There was a report of the august primary last year of a large number of voters that died between when they sent in their absentee ballot and then election day and so then. The secretary state caught that the those ballots. Those people had died before election day and rejected them. And then people were using those as evidence of dead people voting. We're talking about what i'm talking about is the list These are votes that were actual actually tabulated in. Were in the final count. These were not votes that were thrown out by the secretary of state. Okay so we're talking about two separate verified as people as the people who you are who actually died or just people with the same name as a deceased person because well berry easy. And that's all you need and you're going samples that have been shown to ban there and say don't tip the an engineer in there you go so you have the word of one person saying oh well it's just. It was a misunderstanding. It was somebody who's really still alive but it was misconstrued as somebody that was dead. Even though it was the same address it was the same name..

"It would be found in the numerous safeguards and it's not just in. It's not just affidavits from people that are Maybe have never been trained to be a poll worker which by the way on in both both parties. This is a systemic problem is. There's a lot of people that signed up to do that. There was very little training on how to do that. But i'm talking about sworn affidavits from people who are experts in the field especially If you look at melissa corrosion for instance her testimony she worked for dominion And she she was a whistle blower on some major issues but she was dismissed Because of how she sounded perhaps or how she looked and she wasn't taken credibly and that's a fundamental problem. This is and this is what to your point. This is where a full forensic audit needs to be done especially here. In the state of michigan of not just counties that use dominion but i would say all counties the forensic audit needs to be done just to make sure now if if the full investigations are done which they have not been wants to full investigations are done and there's a determined. Look there's no problem here. There's nothing to see here. Then that's great then everybody's satisfied but those investigations need to happen okay. So there's the paper trail in michigan are ballots paper ballots they tabulated and there is an audit and so when you have the audit take place which has occurred throughout the state and they count the paper valid ballots to cross. Check it against the machine tabulation and they find no significant that is evidence that the election results maintained integrity. That it has and that hasn't been done now. Here's another here's another aspect of this is if you wanna look a district constitutional standpoint even if you wanted to get away from if if two people can't agree on forensic audit you can look at what our secretary of state did The state legislature is the only one that has the constitutional of forty to change any type of election laws in a state of michigan. And that's an and that's true with most states and what you had was is jocelyn benson djing election laws going around the legislature that needs to be addressed as well. So there's still a number of issues here. I think to satisfy both. But i'm gonna guarantee this if we don't address this in a l use. The word again in a bipartisan fashion. And do the investigations and closed the pro. Fix the problems. Oberlin bowls in in two to four more years Let's just we'll say four more years. Let's say president biden's defeated by whether it's trump or anybody else In the republican. Party or event. I i'll say whatever party if binds defeated. You're gonna have the same number of democrats saying that. There was an election problem or.

"Meddling and you even had barack obama In two thousand sixteen saying that there was no evidence of any type of outside interference but you would not convince rank and file democrat voter that because donald trump won the election will so either either. Either you no matter how you slice the pie. There is a fundamental problem and it. It cannot continue if one side wins. The other side says it was a cheat. Has to stop whether there's cheating or whether there's not now i've seen you just said that you haven't seen any evidence. I've seen substantial evidence that there were problems all over the country mainly in places like detroit and philadelphia in atlanta So that's what needs to be addressed so that way all parties not just not just people in a political party not just those who consider themselves republicans or democrats. Those who also consider themselves. Libertarians are independence or anything. Everybody needs to have confidence in our election system. And that just that we just need to have some common sense Needs to be addressed from a common sense standpoint and say okay where where are the weak areas Where we don't disenfranchise any legal voter but we can stop any potential for being voter fraud and next time around You know having forensic audits this all needs to be done now. The in a lot of cases of forensic audits have not been done on a wide scale. They've been done targeted. But i think those need to be done and find any problem areas and fix it simple first off just as an aside Just the the name of my party. The democratic party. And i know it's a very common mispronunciation that Some people in the right. We'll call it the democrat party but just so you're aware it's democratic party 'cause of edge tips but to get to the difference between twenty sixteen and twenty twenty. I am not aware of any democratic voters or elected establishment. Democrats who view it as though i mean there were some concerns on the initial election night possibly of the votes not having integrity but quickly subsided and people understood that the votes themselves were legit But it was the potential where you had messaging an interference in the campaigning side leading up to election day that foreign actors got involved that that was the concern of the integrity of that election cycle. It wasn't and so when the bills in georgia were. You're in michigan. There's thirty nine bills that have been introduced to make it more restrictive on election day and the actual process of counting the votes when there is no current problem there in how votes are being verified in accounted for. And let me just interrupt you for a second. There is a problem there and one thing. Pet callback has found. And he's been working on this just day in day and night. Twenty four seven. And he's a he's a tech guy he's looking at Dominion he's looking at the voting systems that are out there There's a problem with chain of custody..

"So where we looked to ease tensions in the ongoing cold civil war nor political arena by opening up some communication between the various sides. My name is jordan johnson. i'm the host and a self-appointed representative for the quote unquote. Democratic establishment might guest on today's episode. I am so excited to have him. It is mike. Detmer ran for congress in twenty twenty in has already announced that he is running again for twenty twenty two. Mike thank you for coming on the show. Thank you yes. Do you want to provide a little bit of background of your run in twenty twenty. Yeah i mean it was. It was really kind of a interesting couple years. Reliabi- it was. It was two thousand nineteen and twenty twenty. I started the whole mission running for state representative in livingston county And then in. October of two thousand nineteen that's switched to a congressional run in it's just Was an amazing journey. But i didn't run for public office. Because i had any ambition to be a politician or to. You know I i guess my my ego isn't so big that i thought i was god's gift You know to to politics. But i ran initially because of the state that we're in you know and it's Back then i looked at it. I grew up in michigan Met my wife here. Started a family here And we lived in different places. I we my wife. And i chased education for our son who is profoundly deaf and so it took us from michigan to kansas and then to florida and back to michigan and i wanted to get involved. Because i didn't want i. I believe michigan can be an absolute powerhouse yet. And you know so that was really the onus but then i look at my kids to have a special needs son and i have a daughter who's in high school and i really want to leave them something better Than what they then what we have. And so i started fighting for that so i ran because i was fighting and when i lost my primary and twenty twenty by very narrow margin. We didn't stop. You know we just kept going in fact It's kind of funny. My after the primary might my wife. And i were coming back from an event and she looked at me and she says i thought we.

"Second two thousand. Naw decision i feel. I mean i think doug peterson in today's age. As a head coach of an nfl team especially right now with the whole carson wentz thing going on is being criticized for his bad decision making. I think there's some red flags back in two thousand when he decided you know what i saw a play. That cleveland browns job. That looks like good idea would be do. How did he goes in. Cleveland browns quarterback. Let's take a look real quick Cleveland browns but the browns backup ty detmer suffered a season ending injury and the browns need a backup quarterback to start tim. Couch is the second time since it was signed to replace injured ty detmer. I'm guessing back in the eagles pearson starred as the third quarterback behind couch and spurgeon win until couch suffered a season and then ending injury in week seven pearson started the next six games. How do you think he went in those games. How do you think the browns did record this term. Oh insects one in five. We thirteen game against the ravens. He was knocked out of the game with bruised. Ribs and replaced with win win started the next week against the jacksonville. Jaguars be suffering. Seasoning ending injury. Peterson replaced him. Return for the final two games. This season losing both including thirty five. Twenty four loss was form team the eagles and twenty four. Nothing shutout to the tennessee. Titans peterson was released after the season on february. Twenty second two thousand one and then he went on to play for the packers again before retiring officially in two thousand five. So that's only two thousand post those three and that was just like you know tim. Couch sees engineering injury. So they bring in. They bring in. Doug peterson who gets hurt. And so they bring in spurs win he suffers a season ended angel and then they have to put doug peterson back in for them to go one and five while he's there. Tim couch is number five on the all time gain started. Cleveland browns quarterback list leaked. How where does he stand on. The list of seasoning injuries. But it's got to be. He's gotta be towards the top of that list here. Because greg greg talked about this earlier you gotta be bad enough to keep your job. Played fifty nine games and three seventy three. Winning percentage. that's impressive. He started sixteen games. One of those seasons. He also tied last playoff start in browns history. Tim couch yes now. That can't be right..

"I'm curly's Aken I'm Danielle Weisberg welcome skin from the couch this podcast where we go deep on career advice from women who have lived check from the good stuff like hiring and growing team to the rough stuff like negotiating your salary and giving or getting hard feedback. We started the skin from a couch, so what better place to talk it all out than it began on a couch. Hey, everyone, the show might look and sound a bit different today because we're skimming from three different couches, the scam is working from home for the time being because of covid nineteen today joined by a powerhouse of the music industry, Julie Greenwald she is the CEO and chairman of Atlantic records during her time in the business. She's helped. Advance the careers of Bruno Mars. Kelly Clarkson at Sharon. Just to name a few chewy were really excited to have you with us today. Welcome to skin from the couch. They you for having me so truly. We're GONNA. Jump in, ask you to skim your resume for us. I went to two lane university go graduated in nineteen ninety wine, and then I did a program called teach for America where I taught in the calliope projects, and then I started working at Rush Management With Lear Coin Your Cohen's assistant from ninety two to ninety. Re Unwind Ninety. Three moved over to detmer hurts and became the promotions coordinator, and then from ninety three to ninety nine worked my way up industrial records, and then ninety nine took over island records and became the head of marketing for island addict. Jam. Then I'm not quite sure when I became president with now it's not to get causey with my dates, but I do know in two thousand four I. I came over to Atlantic records online I've been at Atlantic records since two thousand four Julie with something that is not on your kind of official bio that we should know about you I. Don't think I officially. put down. That I am a mom with two kids by that is probably my most favorite part of my life is that I am a twenty year old and a sixteen year old. That's great I want to kind of just start with the elephant in the room that we're all dealing with which is how to run companies amid stay global pandemic, the music industry is interesting, because in some ways you know, it seems like you have a lot of talented people who are at home, and a moment of reflection in some sorts and I'm sure they'll be a lot of good hopefully music to come out with it. But how are you thinking about this time? So for the artists that have been able to continue to give us, music is been business as usual in terms of. Thinking of Creative Marketing and promotional. For these artists rollout there songs, obviously facing different challenges, which is. Creation of music video photo shoots. We've sent artist green screens. We've sent them ring lights, and so been really just trying to keep everybody focused on the fact that the world is listening to music right now to help through such a terrible time, and so many artists are giving great music to continue out there. They're a bunch of artists that still need to get into a studio. Need a collaboration and those artists. Were just trying to be really good partners and friends to down and tell them that you know. Hey, it's okay. Take this time, maybe just right in a notebook and try to just be you know thoughtful, and in good partners to our artists that are staring at the fact that they may not be able to tour. You know for the. Future and so we're just trying to make sure that they see the light to buy you know. Streaming has really offered us a way to share their art and music and doing these live streams social. That, they can stay connected to their hands. I think we've been incredibly lucky. In terms of all the businesses that are really been affected were continuing to. Market and promote during this time. And as a leader, how have you been trying to set your team up remotely and keep them focused at a time when there's so much uncertainty? So, I personally jumped writing at first and I do weekly email. It's very personal. Email to my whole company every Sunday night to talk about okay. We're about to start in next week. Know Week two week three and I share my stories and I let them know that. Now I'm in a house with two crazy kids and husband and a dog just diagnosed. Diagnosed with cancer and Chemo and and so you know I let them know that I to going through you know challenging situations, and then also set up a time for every department where I call it either morning tea, or after key, where every assistant coordinator manager director on up gets an opportunity to see me on the screen and talk to me in. In us. We questions so I can kind of let them know what we're talking about. Upstairs and keep sharing the fact that we don't know when we're GONNA. Come back when it's okay because we're working. How can I help you and in really like? Let them see that they can. Individually email may call me facetime with me and I'm right there in the. The canoe with them.

"I really believe Reid Detmers has that because that's what he's done his job in two plus years with corona viruses there's one over twenty games and you know the number of numbers in the AC say so I can see that so so how we went Windisch happened and they said okay out Harold Graham singer and kennel down the beach studio twenty one because it provides you be by yourself and student studio forty two that's the baseball field MLB network and then you know you have the remote guys at home or in the case with with coach Corbin he was and he was up and about so yeah I I I wanted to make sure as I always have done and even when I used to do the Yankee games Michael K. woods will make fun of me or whatever about yeah I just my feeling was maybe I'm just not that good like I wanna over prepared just in case so to answer your question in three minutes I I did a lot of analysis I looked at a ton of film and I really did as much homework as I could to know as many guys as I can because I knew they were gonna throw to me it was a catcher yeah and it was it was just fabulous and some of us understand exactly how you prepare because some of us do the same thing just in case M. it's fastening I loved what they did because when when you have the the guys in the studio with the their their draft picks and they're all sitting there I always feel bad for the guy who's sitting there by himself who didn't get picked where he's supposed to get picked and so I kinda loved it when they were home you only went to them when they got picked up and I thought that was the beauty of the of the whole thing you saw these kids eighteen years old are you know twenty years old being surrounded by their family and it was really exciting and it was it was done beautifully I thought I thought the Vanderbilt coach was he was off he was a highlight for me because he is I know what everybody thinks about him and I know that he does things he his players adore him and I know Sonny gray told me once that he actually calls him every single year on the anniversary of once Annie's dad was killed so that he doesn't so he's not alone the so this is a very special guy I thought he was fabulous but one of the things let's get to the Mets and the Yankees when you look at these at these these drafts what do you think of both of these what both of these teams did the Mets when you look at all the the things that are written about them that they you know got an a for the for the draft and what they've done yeah so I know P. Kroll Armstrong a left handed hitters thrower with you know with my son who is went to the circuit before he went to Vanderbilt that P. chrome store was one of a couple guys that were rising juniors when my son was on the U. eighteen high school USA team and they went down so I got a chance to meet all the kids to be around and just you know be the dad watching but really I I'm not just saying this but you know there's personality to manage personalities he I believe has a very good outgoing confident personality not overbearing not not there again but she's not sure of himself he's a high school kid to let's face it who knows how this plays out the next two or three years with respect to development his mother was an actress so yeah that was great so she usually has a little bit of that and I like that that's right I think places like New York you better be able to handle it better be mentally tough you better understand what you're getting into because it's not it's not other places where it's just a lot more past after the mild weather stays in some great cities in this country but I think with respect to his to his tools and skilled defensively right now he could put he complained they received he's that good arm wise speed wise it's legal yeah I know how he could that he would not embarrassed a team if you were to say Hey you know what next week we're gonna call you up and you're gonna play defense don't worry if you get it he can do that so you know here comes the hit tool I know Grady Sizemore and some other names I mentioned he doesn't have an upper cut swing but I saw some things on your leg Ballenger and you know everybody tries to get a compliment your left your right I like him a lot I know where his mind is I've spoken to him my son Jack trains with them so I I I'm really excited about that pic I really am what what about the pitcher JT Ginn didn't did you if you ever did I know we've lowered his elbow but if you're over it did you see him because he he dropped all the way down that's right yes so did tell me John RBC bottomed out at a high school he was a first round by the Dodgers he touched ninety nine miles an hour really good thinker running fastball you know I see a two and a half pitch mix right now a difficult identified because he only had I think one start and then he he he at the time a job this year east you know last year was very good you know if you look at the FCC I think the hardest baseball college lead the conference in in in the country yeah so again I I think I think look if you don't have Tommy John this guy would have but I think you have been talking about him in the top like beach somewhere between ten and twenty twenty five somewhere in there so it's an uptick I think if he does when he gets help because it seems like everybody does after Tom Jones say got themselves a guy that would have been a first rounder no question L. when these kids are at the developmental stage that they are right now and I'm including the college kids with a high school kids here how expensive to their future do you think this forced period of an activity might prove to be yeah that's a good question I would because look at you know it be really great to get these guys in the system somewhere get the bumps and bruises have some failure that's always a concern about a high school kid that's where I'm really worried about them not bored but the mental toughness part is really critical for me because all you know you talk to a high school kid we ask about their toughest game and then taken five minutes because they had didn't have one you know at least with pictures on the Barbie body away and you know the Jerry Kelly shouldn't and you know the cables of the world that I would first rounders you know looking at work where they struggled so that's what you want to see how you want to see it quick and early so that the you know how to handle how do they get out of it so that I think is important obviously to get in the system however you know everybody's in the same boat so I think it's I think it's any how we I think it hurts kind of that that mid level prospect not the lead guy not the guy that gets the millions where he's out of college he's going to be twenty one turning twenty two this summer or late summer and then he'll be starting his first year forget about four year and he'll be going into his twenty three age twenty three season and you know Susan you know how you know you know it seems like these front offices are getting younger and younger you just keep talking about you know we talk about agencies and learning how to meditate and works he's yeah this is season age twenty three this is seen at age twenty seven so there could be a problem until a witness but okay everybody's in the same boat yeah you know what else should you should keep going with what Howard was talking.

"Rose and Susan Waldman with you on the fan until one o'clock this afternoon and quickly just to run down who's coming up because al Leiter is gonna join us in just a moment this is June fourteenth which to a certain large segment of sports fans in this market is a very memorable date because it was twenty six years ago tonight the New York Rangers won the Stanley Cup and they're great captain mark Messier will join us at ten o'clock at ten thirty we'll talk to mark from you know who is the Mets director of amateur scouting and will give us the rundown on the players the Mets drafted Kim Jones will be with us at eleven to check in on what's happening is the NFL gears up and then a twelve thirty will also look back on this date way back in nineteen sixty five if you get a chance later look up a game that the Mets and Reds played Jim Maloney a fabulous picture in his day for the Cincinnati Reds had the Mets no hit going into the eleventh inning of a scoreless game Johnny Lewis broke it up with a home run the Mets won the game and Jim Maloney eighty years young will join us at twelve thirty today but Susan I would say that we'll also have time for some calls and it creates a pretty busy next three and a half hours we will indeed and of course joining us right now two time all star three time world champion Roberto Clemente award winner I know hit guy and then one of our favorite people and that of course is to ring him I was trying to I'm trying to imagine sure practically jump through the screen during the draft he was just so excited al Leiter and job it was and I did I need you to tell us about some of these people I can't believe I watched every second of that on MLB network your your broadcast was fabulous by the way how are you al Leiter I am fine I I actually got a text from Tom Glavin after my first break down I think it was Max Meyer that's the guy I want to talk about yeah Tom but I would like a buddy I know you're excited but like drinking a glass of milk you know it's sort of like in the yes network posed by V. OB you know everybody hides the Red Bull what outcomes it is ready to go and you get you know you know one out it was such a great thing while all kidding aside to watch this event because for a few hours and for two days we could actually almost forget what was going on in the world because these kids were so excited and you were so excited and the coach from Vanderbilt was the delight and perfect on everybody I just love the whole thing I'm going to talk about the Yankees and the Mets but I want you to tell us about Max Meyer really I thought you were going to jump through the screen you were so excited about this project well you know what I you know when I when I look at them the the the build the metrics what people look for like big back big legs tall like you know we go through what it's supposed to look like so there was some question as to you know who is going to fit after it was a little bit of a surprise because because Hurston curse that was the second pick by that word and that was that was a somewhat of a surprise everybody thought Austin Martin you know with Vanderbilt Torkelson was it unlocks the Tigers so when cursed that went off and then it was a so lazy to strangle lefty I did accomplish James Paxton just a guy throws hard ninety ninety two ninety three is that up to ninety seven changeup slider you know that the usual repertoire stuff makes delivery and then when Meyer came off because we were figure in somewhere as far as the the mock draft somewhere around you know six six seven somewhere in there so I was excited he six foot tall the kids at three letterman and hockey he's got a tough guy you know I'll kick your rear end attitude out there he's not the biggest kid somebody might might tape which included Pedro Martinez my tape included David cone guys that were you know exceptional major leaguers that weren't six four year old we are even bigger so I I get excited when you have a club in this case the Marlins that will think out of the box don't think that you know right handers got to be six three six four six five they all have to throw a certain way so with respect to that I I I see it I also see the red rapid ascent for a guy like this because while he you don't want to tell him that because he thinks of himself as a starter which he should he's primarily a two pitch pitcher but but he he's been up to a hundred and and it's really dynamic so yeah I was excited about that and then after that tape off the video combined tax rate so that laci comes off the next to the royal tonight and I'd like to switch gears I'm like okay so laci's bigeye Texas a and M. just to to economy how much did you go to school on these guys because you know I certainly and Susan certainly doesn't have much of a a dossier on these players we don't see that we don't know anything other than what we read in baseball America or here on MLB network about these kids but how much did you find yourself able to sort of a crew information on so that you had a real good handle on who does what yeah how you so it's a bit of my problem and maybe it's just me B. and maniacal but are still in years past the been there for ten years so I I do a certain amount of parents is it's very flexible to allowed me to have a life you know to be a husband and a father and really cold like I love I love being over there so in years past they always did some of the place you know the players that work there to do in the cam Tait breakdowns and it really it really was I I never liked it because the enthusiasm can be nearly as much because you really don't know the match and when you you're just saying that you know the guy's name and you look at the tape and you look at in the video to comprise some sort of analysis but this being alive and obviously coronavirus really was the impetus behind it but I think moving forward they're gonna have more live analysis because well I'll tell you right in on it and Susan you know we don't really have slower when when at ten the angels drafted Reid Detmers kid at university level there was another one that was legitimate excited because he's a guy that doesn't throw ninety five two hundred he seems like every guy throws ninety five or better right so here's a guy that throws ninety to ninety four really good changeup and an exceptional curveball spots up his fastball very aggressive even though he's under ninety five plus guy everything plays off his fastball and I made the comment this is great this is an organization that has not drafted pictures in first round and their top five prospects in their organization right now will be a very fair and they're all everyday player so I was excited about that and.

I'm not down with hash Browns I'll tell you what I'm not down with I don't my my family loves it the kids just can't get enough of it it just makes it's I. make I'm like nauseous every time I go I can't even clean the the dish of what this is because it's looking at it going oh that's awful is I can't go with the mac and cheese man I'm not American all right making sure is that mac and cheese last night as a matter of I I just can't stand it and and my kind of a monster are you like but I can't stress she's with like the orange powder and it's just it just looks so violet smells so vile I I just can't go back and she's gonna buy that mac and cheese I go to a place called home room over in Berkeley that delivers and it was incredible it's like the Mexican mac and cheese got chorizo and salon tomorrow and live is in read a bullets gonna bite to it and let you know me I love selector who puts a lock around I'm pretty much I'm pretty much it but then you had to result in there as well incredible being cold and read a book total I feel like someone who's it mac and cheeses entire life from the craft box stuff which by the way Larry your family owned Annie's mac and cheese we have in this funny sit right because the kids were going like that and he's and he's a better graphic and cheese I mean you know if you if you're broke college student that's good stuff but other than that yeah but still thank you of any magnitude for a long time I've never thought about never heard about putting meat sausage chorizo and mac and cheese Tom what's the name of this place and home related on a on a list on a look what is the federal monument list where you can't it's it's a protected sanctuary hope this that sounds delightful it's incredible how credible they have all kinds of different mac and cheese is there by son loves the the buffalo chicken mac and cheese yeah the two reservists across Los LOS or mac and cheese so I don't know it's it's a little but they I think they could be the chicken the buffalo sauce Soviets Kudlow buffalo taste like well they got the letter to it jalapeno Popper mac and cheese which is surely worthy good too but it's funny because we but we feel we're on their ordering and they had a Hawaiian mac and cheese then it was like a hot day I the cuts so it's kind of good and really thought about like like a Hawaiian pizza bacon and pineapple and tomatoes and like that sounds interesting that sounds really good but I want to go with the Mexican mac and cheese so I could go back and forth back and forth back and forth back and forth so what I end up doing what about the what ifs but yeah just just to make sure what public this is we can all we can all share this with everyone else what what's the point of being an adult and making money if you can't make false decisions like you know what I'm doing I'm all get it all no decision I didn't know what Leslie valves out of time the I'm going back and she's he's going yeah mine's hash Browns has there actually it's slash TD I'm with him tater tots and not yet that reminds me that cafeteria food but you know either way right before you go Reid Detmers who has H. hill or Shawn Estes left handed overhand curve a knee buckler of bowel buckler he's an angel now respected at both cheeks into it man all my we got to see the you got to see the hook on this guy this is this is a Blyleven type hook but of course a lefty that we still talking about baseball or remove everything yes transitions yeah it's it's not that I dislike this food I just think it's mad over rated you can miss me with the avocado what's wrong now I don't I mean it's all right I'll call you right right now and if I got a fight people in the street one on one or multiple I don't like go do it what it is today just like that I just think it's mad over rated avocado it's a movie she is blamed tasted fine Qualcomm only because of stuff in it my my my go to you know shut to my girl Tina in Nevado makes the best guacamole maximalism is good fifteen of express but it's just walk about but I'll say this system even more intense the best salsa is light years better than the greatest guacamole give me salsa guacamole we gotta fight let's fight you can check out a little spoonful of salsa and guacamole in kind of why for what so so so for the walkability get on sauces level you got to add salsa guacamole flavored and for.
