"Well, I was very close to the first down. I think they got the first one. When Barker went down, needed the 15, it is the 16 and he caught it at the 50. The ruling on the field is a completed pass for a first down. After the plane. Unsportsmanlike conduct offense. Number 6. That's his first. 15 yard penalty from the succeeding spot. It's first and ten. He means 9. The other 6, the upside down 6. Yeah. Daniel bunker caught the pass. Correction. The foul was our number 9. We meant to be caught to pass. That's a shaky call. The first very, very shaky Reggie Smith. That's bad. It's totally bad. It's first and ten. Rod Moore kind of got physical. Hey, it's a physical game, but Daniel Barker just trying to get up first in ten at the 31 of Michigan. Thorne with Elijah Collins to his left. Peyton throws in complete for Barker at the 27 yard line. Will Johnson with the coverage. Second down and ten. That's a 31 yard line of Michigan. Four and 15 left the Spartans would love to get a score here. Scoreboard reads 29 to 7 Michigan. Second in ten Spartans at the 31 of the wolverines, Elijah collars for the left to Peyton Thorne. Peyton with time to unload. And it's picked off. Look out an interception inside the ten yard line and all the way back out to the 40 yard line was rod Moore, the safety who just got into it a moment ago with Daniel Barker the ball was rifled downfield. But more got in front of it. Michigan picks it off and he brought it back. All the way out to the 41 yard line. Yeah, time he just held onto that ball a long time. And tried to drive it in there instead of putting air under the ball, you know, he saw the safety. He didn't want to throw a long interception

"We're back and you may have heard the announcement from Reggie smith the referee upon further review the ball did hit the ground and it was ruled incomplete. Let's go by the numbers with the MSU federal credit union. The official credit union of Spartan athletics go green with MS UFC U, here's Jason. Well, let's go total offensive yards. Michigan state 188 yards. That's a 152 through the air. 36 on the ground. Michigan 416 yards of total offense, a 167 through the air, 249 on the ground. Michigan look at now at fourth down or put on one of the designated containers on the concourse. Fourth and three with just under 6 minutes left. And there at their 46 yard line. What's the lesser two evils here if you're missing a punt the ball to Jayden Reed or go for it on fourth down. I mean, the field position says that you probably will punt it. You know, but because they don't want to start any valiant comeback by the Spartans right now, 5 58 to go in the game. And, you know, strange things have happened 22 point. Right now, the deficit. Three touchdowns, three quick ones. And one two point conversion. Brad Robbins is the punter and Brad Robbins is on the field. His first punt of

"So to me, if they had a lot of games that are two to two in the 8th or whatever and going to be decided by the pen, I go with the guardians for that, but you know, obviously the Yankees have overwhelming talent, if they play their best, you know, when judge was by himself and everybody was out, they were not very good, but now you've got Rizzo back, you've got back, you've got Carpenter at least on the bench and the potential there. And you know, it's an interesting series, just contrasts money versus I don't want to say poverty, but when he first rich, you've got power versus base running and contact and all that. It's an interesting series and obviously with the Yankees winning the first game and being the overwhelming favorite does not look good for Cleveland at this point. That was my upset pick. I didn't see Philly doing it. Look, we all in New York, maybe we don't feel like Keith Hernandez, quite, but we've seen the Phillies a lot this year and they were not too good times. They look good now though, and as you said, it's chaotic, maybe they win. I mean, to me, the Astros and the Dodgers are the most obvious picks. They're the two best teams. They're the two favorites to get to the World Series, and they have been a long, I picked them at the beginning of the year. I was over Astros at the Astros roads a little bit easier. They did have that big win in game one. You know, Seattle had a shot there and, you know, giving up that home run. And now it looks like, you know, I think the Astros have to feel, you can't feel too confident if 5 game series, but they've got to feel pretty confident. That was a big win that Mariners needed to have in there. They needed to win that ball game. And if they won that, I still probably wouldn't have picked the Mariners to go forward in this series and win. But if there was a game ball game for them to win on the road, oh my goodness, how insurmountable that would have been for that ball club. I love the Mariners. I'm really excited for this team, but unfortunately the buzz saw that is the Houston Astros. I just can't imagine getting beaten the DS and quite frankly in the CS two. I am hoping that we get the rivalry game in the ALCS. I mean, anyone that doesn't want to watch Astros Yankees is either lying to themselves or they lost a bet. That's all I want to see. And quite frankly, give either of them to me to face the Los Angeles Dodgers in the World Series that I'm a happy guy, but as somebody that is born in 1988, it has never seen a Yankee Dodger World Series that my father told me all about all of them growing up. I would give anything. Just one time in my lifetime to see a Dodger Yankees World Series. Well, you are a child. Wow. I wasn't around for the 55 World Series or 56. yeah, I've seen the Yankees and Dodgers play in the World Series a lot. Wow, you never even saw Steve Garvey and run, say, you know, all those guys, no, I did not. I was at the tail end. However, one of my mentors as a child was Steve Garvey. Steve Garvey, I met Reggie Smith who really was my mentor for about 15 years before I got eventually what the UCLA and got drafted. Yeah, Reggie Smith seems like a terrific guy. I don't know him, but Steve Garvey, if you're in contact with him, ask him why he's blocked me on Twitter. You said everybody should follow me. I actually voted for him. 15 times for the Hall of Fame. So he must have not liked that I didn't vote for say or somebody. I don't know what it was, but anyway. We got to fix that problem set. Well, you know what, you know, moving on from that. That's not, you know, we'll live with that. You know, it's going to be so interesting, you're right. Astros Yankees, I mean, nobody hates the Astros more than the Yankees and the Dodgers. And one or two of them may have a shot at the Astros here. So that's going to add some intrigue as much as everybody hates the Astros. I think Yankees are probably number one on that list and Dodgers are probably number two. Although I will say this about the Astros, they're proving they, I mean, I'm assuming everything's on the up and up at this point. I'm sure they're looking pretty carefully. They've proven that they don't need much help. They're pretty darn good team. Yeah, they are. And you know what I keep thinking, especially after game one, when I watch that at bat, by the way, those out there that are kind of throwing a lot of shade at service and Mariners for bringing in Robbie ray because, oh, look at his numbers. Robbie raised numbers against Jordan Alvarez. Look at Jordan Alvarez's numbers against everybody. That doesn't mean anything. At the end of the day, the Mariners threw everything they could at the wall at the Astros and they had a Cy Young award winner that was available left on left matchup to go and face them. I loved it. I loved the move. I'm sorry it didn't work out, but every time I see your dawn Alvarez hit a home run, I just keep thinking, what if the Dodgers didn't trade him to the Houston ass. We're good enough. They're good enough. My God. Especially now that we have the DH, well, they're just an amazing team. And, you know, they're the best team, but like I've said it, I think that naturally gives a gauntlet. You know, I think the Padres are ver talented. I thought it'd be the mets but the pie razor talented and if it's the braves, they're defend champ, they beat them before. You know, it's not going to be a cakewalk for the Dodgers, even with a 111 wins. We know in the past, we saw the manners of the one 16. You get eliminated by the Yankees, so you never know, but Dodgers, Astros, rematch of 17, that would be pretty good, but we got a long way to go before we get there. Yes, we do, and we're going to be with you a long way right here on Odyssey sports for big time baseball. John, is there anything else that you're really excited for with the rest of these divisional series? You know, you know, I'm still excited about my guardians pick. I'm not giving up yet. We'll see how it goes. I mean, I mean, no, I'm sitting here in New York. I was the one guy who picked the guardians. You know, I guess we're pretty provincial at the post. We had one guy pick the Padres, Mark W Sanchez, give him credit, AJ perfect came over to me. You did. I mean, but you're not at the New York Post. I am not more guts. It's the takes a little more guts to pick against the mets. I did not put Mark W sanches in AJ pro who came over to me and he wanted to shake mark's Sanchez's hand. I don't think he got to do it yet, but if they stay alive, maybe he will, you know, I like to see upsets. I do think it's pretty chalky though, and you know, it's tough to pick against the Dodgers.

"I mean, that's 6 batters that he could have probably dealt with at the big league level and had the same type of results, right? But I think up obviously when you're dealing with shoulder elbow. Teams are going to be precautious. I get it. They sent him down there. And listen, we don't know if it was Jacob de Grom who wanted to go down there and actually make those starts to maybe get it in his head that he's healthy. But certainly the results looked like he was pretty healthy if you asked me. In like 2001, you may remember this. It was a mild thing in Southern California, but you know, whenever a guy got hurt, they would always go down to the minor leagues for rehab assignments. And I remember one time the Giants weren't going to send Barry Bonds on a rehab assignment. He was just going to go straight from the injury list, which at the time of the DL, immediately back into the lineup against the Dodgers, and I remember like a lot of people complaining about it. It's like, this is not what you do. This is not what we do. And I remember I was hitting in the batting cage with Reggie Smith, and we were talking about it. And I remember mentioning to regime, hey, regie, what do you think of this? And he's just like, oh, people mad about Barry not going on a rehab assignment. I said, yeah, he's like, who's he facing? I said, the Dodgers, and he just got the Dodgers are berries rehab. He's like, Major League Baseball. It's Barry Bonds is rehab assignment. Why does everyone mad about? That's a good point. Basically, those guys, those type of players are that good. It doesn't matter who their facing. There are threat every time in his case, he gets in the box for de Grom every time he gets on the bump. It doesn't matter who's in the box. That's why these guys are who they are. And, you know, you know how baseball is, man. You do something a little bit different. Everybody's head blows off and falls off. It's quite hilarious to watch. It really really is. Oh man, and we've been talking about the braves a little bit here. Let's talk about the other wildcard races because the AL is fascinating. Off the charts fascinating, and it seems as though we have to say something. And we mentioned it a couple of weeks ago, but now we really have to say it. We can't pretend anymore. It's not a joke. The Orioles are good. They're really good. You know what's funny about the Orioles is, as I've kind of watched them because I do a hit with their station every week. And so I've been forced to kind of watch them a little bit. What I can tell you about them, they may not be the most talented team, but they definitely play the game the way you would expect a team that's in developing times to play. Like they cross off all of the fundamentals of baseball. And I'll tell you what, Brandon and I, he's done a really good job getting those guys to kind of buy in and just go play ball. They're not the most talented team. As I said, however, they are getting some contributions from guys that I don't think they thought. Austin Hayes is having a terrific year for them as an outfielder. He's hit for the cycle for crying out loud on that ball club. And you got a bunch of young dudes who are starting to see the fruits of the work they put in. I tell you, I tell you what Cody, you could attest to this. That's a dangerous type of team. Once you start to see, oh, wait a minute. All this work actually does kind of work and it makes me a better player and we're starting to win games. All of a sudden, you start to get belief in that locker room and who knows what can happen. I'm not sitting there saying the Baltimore warriors are going to be in the playoffs, but there's a reason why there are only two games out of a wild card here as we get closer and closer to the break. And you know with the added wildcard. By the way, there are 8 two in their last ten. They are winning ball games. They're one game under 500. They're two out of the wild card. Here's how the American League wild card stands as we currently speak. Red Sox, they got two spots up. They have the top wildcard spot. Raise. They have the second wild card spot, but I'm a little worried about the race, a week ago I was talking to raise up big because I was excited. They're healthy and they're steamrolling teams and they got one of the best staffs in baseball and then down goes springs down goes cure Meyer down goes wander Franco. Now I'm immediately worried about the rays. The Blue Jays. The Blue Jays are still maintaining one of these spots. The Mariners. Thank God. Yeah, no, they're starting to play, they're starting to play better baseball. And they're also starting to get healthy. I mean, this is a team that you were on from the very beginning. And it was, it was disappointing to see them get off to the start that they did. But all of a sudden, that magic that we saw, like all second half of the season, it seems like it's starting to return. They're starting to get their footing and starting to press that American League west a little bit. You know who I'd watch out for? He's in a Major League Baseball as far as futures go as far as futures bets goes and Cy Young futures. I know this is gonna sound crazy to you, but Robbie ray, his last three outings, is back to being Robbie ray, and I'm talking high innings, high strikeouts, no walk, like looking like last year's Robbie ray for the last three outings. Would you believe that his last to this point of this season? His numbers are accidentally significantly better than his numbers last year at this exact time that he won the Cy Young. I actually believe it because the second half of the season, he went on a really an unbelievable second half. And it boosted everything that we ended up seeing him being a Cy Young. But this is the guy who the Mariners is expected from opening day, right? I mean, this guy who he's been in the last three days, that's who this team was expecting. They didn't get that. And when you sign a guy like that, you don't get the type of production that you expect from a guy a free agent like that. It only adds to the issues that they already have. But as you said, his last three starts, he's starting to throw the ball like the Cy Young we saw last year. High punch outs. He's getting deeper into games. He's more efficient in the last three outings than he was earlier in the season. And, you know, now that team has already, they're playing with confidence. They just came in to San Diego to swept the Padres in a quick two game set, and they're offense looked legit. Like they got on base, they drove runners in, and they shut the Padres offense down. And so that's another team. As you said, to be reckoned with. I think a little bit higher ceiling than the Orioles, but certainly a team that's playing some of their best baseball right now. Well, here's the question that really comes to my mind. When I'm thinking of all this, because now we got this added playoff spot for an extra wild card. We have all these teams that are in it. By the way, the other teams that are on the outside looking in that are not, it's not out of the realm of possibility. The rangers are only three and a half back, Orioles, two back, keep in mind, the guardians, they're one and a half back. The White Sox are only three back of the wild card, but I gotta say, I don't think anyone from the central is going to get a wild card spot. It's either you win the central or you're not getting into playoffs. And they're all within 5 games of that dreadful lead in that division with the twins who I don't think is a really real team, but there are so many teams within striking distance.

"NL east was last year. Like nobody's really doing it. You look at the last ten games. The first place team is four 6. Minnesota's four and 6 in the last ten. White Sox are also four and 6 in the last tip. Cleveland 6 and four. So nobody is really like playing great baseball and as long as you leave a team like that, the White Sox without that kind of talent. Once they get healthy, if you don't pull away from them, you are going to run the risk of them snatching it from you just like we saw the braves do to the mets last year. And I think that's where they'll be at the end of the season. All right, well, we are roughly at the 50 game mark of the season and if the playoffs were to start right now. Here are your national league teams in the playoffs. And what do you think of this? Dodgers mets Padres, brewers, cardinals, giants, braves, Diamondbacks, Phillies, on the, what do you think of these teams, by the way, that have a shot? And I'm funny, I love that one team's in here because this one team is a fourth place team. But I've been telling everybody, please do not sleep. I know you're talking about the diving back to this. I mean, this team is good, man. They're really, really good and they just have the misfortune of being located in Phoenix, man. They are so good. And listen, I've always felt like Tori lavello ball clubs play hard for. Like no matter what their talent is, they always play hard. And so now this year, you got some young guys that have been infused in there. You got some guys who are gotten their feet wet now and we got a little more confidence. And they play, they play hard. And so they're in a lot of games. They're pitching staff. They're starting rotation has been really good this year. So again, like I said with the project, when you have good start in pigeon, right? And you're able to play defense. You're going to be in every ball game. Because they're not going to score a whole bunch of runs on you. And so that's why the Diamondbacks are a team to watch. But out of all these teams, the team I would least want to face and I'm not being a Homer is a Padres. I would hate to face them in a series, a playoff series because they can run out some fantastic pitching and they have this knack for getting the big hit when they need to. They're not going to make very many mistakes. And you know, Cody, come playoff time. The teams that win are the teams that make the fewest mistakes. It's not necessary. You're not going to have too many blowouts. So the teams that make the fewest mistakes have the best chance to advance. That's the Padres. That's why they're the scariest team on this list if you ask me. I agree with you on top of this. Here's the other thing. I think the Padres are what everyone thinks are. Yeah. The brewers are not bad. I can't stress this enough. The brewers are a good team because they got a great pitching staff. I think the Padres have the exact same pitching staff, only they can out hit the hell out of the brewers. And again, the Padres are a team that just kind of get ignored throughout baseball. Maybe it's because of proximity location or even distance to Los Angeles or something, but I feel like there are two teams that we just never hear enough about and it's the Padres and the rays and these are two teams that will be in the playoffs because we look over the American League side. Same exact thing. Yankees, Astros, Blue Jays raised twins, Red Sox. We didn't bring up the White Sox. We didn't bring up a few teams. What do you think, man? I mean, are there teams that were not mentioning that we should be mentioning in that? I mean, are you talking about on American League side? I'm assuming. I think the team that we always overlook and you just Mitch them is a Tampa race. Like they consistently get to this point and they do it under the radar because the unorthodox way they do it. Another team that's not getting a lot of noise, which is kind of unusual to me, is the Astros. I feel like, I feel like this team has reigned over the American League west. And I think because they've lost a superstar. It seems like every free agency for the last 5 years. We've gradually talked about them less and less and less. And now it's weird to say this team is 8 games up 8 and a half games up in American League west. And I feel like they're not being talked about at all. Okay. I'm going to put some of the blame on not necessarily you and me, Tony, but I'm talking about the whole media group as a whole. But you and me are definitely partially to blame because you and I have said this on this show many times. We truly thought that the Astros were not going to be winning this year. We truly thought this. All of us thought this was the Mariners turn, finally. We all thought the angels were gonna be somewhat real this year. And we all looked at Correa and Springer Bing gone. I mean, coal gone. Getting back Verlander at 40 after Tommy John surgery, we weren't expecting him to be Justin Verlander still. Listen, and also let's let's not, let's not pretend that we all didn't want them finally. I think it has a lot to do with it too. I mean, we really wanted it to happen. So we all tried so hard to will it into existence and unfortunately we can't have nice things. So the Astros are here to speak. If we can't have nice things. And you know, credit to dusty baker, credit to that, that Astros front office. I mean, they've patched it together. They're not only passed together. They basically replace some parts that you felt like were almost irreplaceable, right? I mean, Carlos Correa leaves for Minnesota. Then they all of a sudden have this kid at shortstop that is basically not only filling in the void. He's doing it quite well at the shortstop position at such a young age. And I guess I shouldn't be surprised by what we've seen from the Astros, but I mean, when you see a young kid like paying you come up and just, you know, make himself at home. And then you see Verlander who he does have a little bit of this Nolan Ryan to him, right? It just seems like no matter how old he gets, he'll still be able to pinpoint a heater and when he needs to get a little bit extra, he can go back into tank and grab it and find a 96, 97 for you. He's going to be a Hall of Famer when it's all said and then it helps to have guys like that on your roster. You know, can I ask you a question, Johnny? This is something this actually just kind of it's not on the rundown. It just kind of pops in my head. We're talking about dusty a little bit. I don't have a lot of regrets in my career. I mean, I have one or two little things here and there. Like I always think about 2016, I had the choice between signing between three teams and there was one that I wanted to sign with and I didn't sign with the cubs, but I wanted to. I ended up signing with the royals, which was not necessarily a bad decision. It was just not the right decision. My other regret was like, I never got a chance to go play in Japan. I really wanted to play in Japan. And my last regret, I always wanted to play for dusty baker. It was like a dream of mine to play for dusty. A combination of my mentor growing up was Reggie Smith, have his best friend was dusty. So I always thought playing for dusty would be like playing for Reggie. So it was just a dream of mine. And I'm jealous of every player on the Astros that gets this. I had a bunch of friends that played for dusty, and they have made it so that that's all, that's one of the only regrets I have is that I never got a chance to play for them because everybody you talk to that's played for them. Only has great things to say. He only seems to get the best out of his guys. And that's somebody you want to play for, right? That's somebody who gets it, who understands the everyday grind of it. And that can't be said for everybody. And that's the reality of it. And I think you're right. I mean, you had a great mentor in Reggie Smith. I mean, one of the hitting gurus best hitting grooves of all time, in my opinion. But him and dusty seem like they're cut from that same cloth. And yeah, no, no, I'm with you on that. I wish I could have had the chance to.

"Gambling problem called one 800 gambler. I like it. I like it. Hey, mentioning those giants. 107 wins last year. Is this team capable of that again? And it's not that they're not a good team or a potential playoff team, but a 107 wins. Is a lot of wins. And this is a team that started without Evan Longoria. They lost Buster Posey for now on. Other people stepping up, playing great baseball, jock Peterson went off to a good start of the year, but I just don't feel like this is the same team that we had last year. Can they still be a playoff team? They just got swept by the Padres at home. Now they got the mets coming in, not an easy task, even at home. Are we starting to worry about the Giants a little bit? I would say a little bit. I mean, a 107 wins. There aren't many 107 when teams. So I wouldn't count. The only team that really, to me, looks like on paper 107 went team, it's probably the Dodgers. I don't really think anybody else is going to come close to a 107 wins, but their team is, I thought they had a really good winter considering posey retired that was moving on. She lost their best hitter, their best pitcher, I thought they did really well with what they did do, but, you know, I just had so much magic last year. I think, you know, it's tough to come back after that and try to do that again. You know, you've got belch that some injuries, they've had some injuries, but, you know, 107. It takes a lot to be honored and said, wait a minute. I do think they can be a playoff day, even though I didn't pick them. Just because NL stuff, I think at 5, 6, 7, 8, NL is stronger than the American League wins the All-Star Game every year and they signed all the big short steps, yet it feels to me like the national league is the peeper league. I actually agree with that. I think it is the deeper link, yet we will watch the American League yet again by 5 runs. I don't know how it happens. My entire drives me nuts. My entire life, I've been a national league guy. You know, I grew up a Dodger fan. I got drafted by the Padres. I've always been partial to the national league. And I think I've watched in my lifetime 6 national league wins. Well, you're a young man, because when I was a kid, I can remember. It was the opposite, right? And they never won the All-Star Game. And I couldn't understand why was I watching an inferior league? I don't know, maybe. And actually that big stars in the 70s, but they have to go look, but I think they're basically one almost every year for a long time when I was a kid. Would you believe this? And I'm sure you've probably heard this. I bet you would believe this. You probably already know this, but I'll just say it anyways. I train growing up with Reggie Smith, who a former major leaguer, former all star really a baseball legend, former hitting coach from Los Angeles Dodgers. So Reggie was my mentor growing up. He was my hitting coach, everything about him. I never, ever would have made it in baseball if it weren't for Reggie Smith. But Reggie one day did tell me about the All-Star Game specifically in the 70s. And he said he made it with the Boston and he loved it and he said the Clubhouse was amazing and everybody was just so thrilled to be there and just it was just what an experience and then he made it with the Dodgers and he went to the All-Star Game as a Dodger and he said the Clubhouse in the All-Star Game with the national league side was a different deal. The national league guys want to kill the American League guys and they were willing to fight and brawl to do it. Like it was Reggie didn't know what he walked into. He's like, I don't understand. I thought this was a fun thing. These guys are not happy to be here. Those guys are and I guess a national league wanted to make an example of them. It's the weirdest thing and now it seems that everybody's really thrilled to be there, but he's adopted the old American League at a shit. It might be the attitude because there's no reason what leaks should be that much better than the other. I mean, it's going to be a slight difference, probably year to year, but you wouldn't think that one league would be that much better. And yeah, I mean, you know, it's the old this time it counts thing. It only counted there in the middle somewhere. It didn't count back in the 70s, yet they killed my American League every single year. I can still remember watching every game and hoping for the American League and being disappointed every single year. Well, how about this, John? We did mention something earlier. And I do want your opinion on this. We mentioned how the brewers are at the top of their league and they're trying to make some trades. Obviously, when it comes to the trade deadline, they'll be active, so a lot of these first place teams. Looking throughout Major League Baseball and seeing some last place teams, like, say, sellers like the reds, the nationals, possibly even the Diamondbacks, despite them having a 500 record. These are three teams that do have trade pieces that will help team wins. Specifically, the Diamondbacks are filled with players that can help any team truly win. And I'm looking at their pitching staff specifically. Can you imagine someone getting their hands on like a Zach gallon or a Wheeler? I'm not a Wheeler. Or even a mad bum. I doubt they'll part with mad bum, but just everyone on their pitching staff is having a great year. Merrill Kelly is another guy that can help somebody. Yeah, I mean, Brent strom has done a terrific job. There are not sure what happened with him in the Astros that's a mystery man if he'll ever unravel it, but he was fantastic there. And you know, we thought he was retiring, but he wasn't. And he has done a nice job. The rotation has been really good. Certainly both pen pieces look like potential trade bait, the Milan, Kennedy was last year and went on to close with Phillies. Maybe they'll need it in the close organ. I don't know. Certainly, they've got trade pieces. And that's, as you mentioned, I've trade pieces. We'll say, no, and I also cruise surprise people by signing with an ads when everyone knew they were in a rebuild, so they could potentially trade him. They've got a few trade pieces that they can look at, Josh bell is having a much better year this year. I think the COVID might have affected him last year. I've been told by the agent Scott Boris that won Soto is not getting traded. Of course, ultimately it's really not his decision. But I tend to think that that's a long shot. I've seen people speculate on that. I really don't see that happening. I mean, you call me or tweet me if I'm wrong a couple three months from now, but I'm doubtful on that one for sure. The reds have some pieces, even though they're terrible team, you know, you've got O'Malley's good starting pitcher and Castillo, who's a very, very talented starting pitcher. I think other teams are kind of picking up on the fact that people leave Cincinnati and they do better. That 117 that you referenced earlier with the Giants, they had four starters, including Godzilla had mentioned that these would cueto who had been reds at one time now. Quite obviously had a he did with the reds, but the other guys all did much better with giants after leaving the reds. So I think the value is going to be high naturally anyway for any good starting pitcher, but I wouldn't pay too much attention to what the stats are for Mali or Castillo just returned because their values are going to be extremely high. The cubs are another team that has some pieces to sell. So even if one soda doesn't get traded and I don't think he will. I think we're going to have a decent trade deadline. We're not going to have a trade deadline where Scherzer, the stars like Scherzer, Turner, Brian Rizzo, like last year, are traded, but I will still be pretty good one..

"What we're reading is true or false about your career, okay? Oh, okay. Okay. This I should get a couple of them, right? I think you should, and we have some great production value to the start. Go ahead and please. Celebrity, true, or false. There you go. All right. All right, Thomas Jane, first up in celebrity true or false for you. You started your acting career in an Indian Telugu language film? My bad. In 1987. Oh my God. And you were paid in the form of an RV that was used to drive the crew around and you sold it to buy a 69 Camaro, is that true or false? Well, it has to be true. So that is true. Absolutely. Yeah. Yes. It was my introduction to producers. You shoot the whole movie and they're like, about that payment. About that picture. Take the cruise RV. Yeah, they're like, well, you know, we don't need we're going back to India, so you take the rod or not? That's usually it? Actually, drove that thing around for a while, and then it broke down on the New Jersey turnpike. What exit? Broke down on the freeway. And I left it there. And then I managed somehow to call a guy who said, listen, I'll tow it away for you. And he had a 69 Camaro convertible. And we made that trade. He was going to fix it up, and he was a mechanic. And so that's how I got that. My favorite car, 69 Camaro convertible with a black matte paint, you know, didn't really have a paint job. I drove that thing around. I love how you were answered when you hear that story, Mike, is what exit did you break down on the New Jersey turnpike? You're like, did you at least push it to the admiral Halsey rest up? Were you able to do that? All right, so that's true. Next one you kind of hit on this one. Prior to playing Mickey Mantle in 61, you had never played baseball in your life and didn't know much about it before being cast that you were false. Oh yeah, it's absolutely true. You know, you never say that. To a director when you're auditioning for the job, you know? So Billy Crystal, you know, and he's like, so, you know, I'm like, oh, yeah, no problem. Yeah, no, no, no. I played baseball my whole life. My dad used to put the front yard. Throwing the ball around. So then we get to over the Reggie smith's camp, which is out in a valley, Billy shows up. I'm there. Reggie's there. He's looking me over. And. Ruggie throws me a ball, right? And I'm looking at the ball and I go, how do you hold this ball? Oh my gosh. And Billy Crystal just kind of went. But Reggie Smith taught you how to hit using a sword? He sure did. Yeah, two by four and a samurai sword. And never let me touch a baseball bat for the first two weeks. I had to balance on the two by four. While I swung the samurai sword, Reggie would close his eyes and he could tell by the sound the blade went through the air. What I was doing wrong and how to make adjustments that the angle was wrong because absolutely because if it's not a perfect swing, the blade will vibrate and make noise. If it's a perfect swing, you barely hear it at all, right? Because the air at the air is being cut so, so perfectly. Right. But if you're off a little bit, you're going to hear that as the blade goes through the air. I've never heard of that before. Reggie Smith, he was absolutely phenomenal. Could never have done the job that we did. Me and Barry pepper who played Roger Maris. We could have never done that without Reggie. That's a huge, a great ball player, Reggie Smith. A great teacher. Next one for you, Thomas Jane celebrity, true or false, true or false, and one of the fight scenes in the punisher. Somebody forgot to replace the real knife with a prop knife and you wound up stabbing the 7 foot four pro wrestler Kevin Nash with that. Is that true or false? That was a bad day. I'm sorry to bring it up. I gotta tell you, man. You know, and when you're swinging around and grabbing the prop knife and he's there and I plunge it into his chest, which is up here. And he stabs him and it goes in and I'm looking at the knife, I'm looking at him, Kevin, he's just looking down at me and there's a knife sticking out of his chest. I got him right about here. Damn, yeah, that was rough. And he was so, you know, what made it worse? 'cause he was so nice about it. You haven't to be pissed at you. Oh, my God, you're like, okay, this guy's gonna knock me across the room. As just out of reflex, you know, and he just sat there and looked at the knife, looked at me, shook his head. I sent him a couple cases of beer. That sounds about right. Okay, so that's true. Now, I'm very proud of myself that I've had this long of a conversation with you, Thomas Jane, and I have not mentioned the word boogie nights yet, because this is one of the remote drop movies for me. Hey. Doesn't matter where I pick it up, or when I pick it up. I must watch it to its conclusion. That's one of those movies, yeah. I agree. For sure. And then the famous scene with you and Alfred Molina and obviously Wahlberg and John C Reilly. And the drug dealer seen the firecrackers true or false were not originally in that boogie night script scene. I understanding is that I don't remember the firecrackers in the script. I do remember reading that scene and thinking it was so great that I wanted to audition for that character Todd Parker. Is there a bunch of different roles that were open? I said, that's the role for me and I got that role. My understanding is that Paul was at a party and a buddy of his was doing exactly that. Just throwing randomly throwing firecrackers at this party. And so he asked him, that guy. He's like, I'm filming this scene this weekend. Come on, come on down and do that. So we got the guy in the movie, is the guy from the party that was throwing the firecracker. So Cosmo cosmos cosmos was a friend of Paul Thomas Anderson. That's my understanding. Okay. So he's Chinese. Okay, so that was it. And that was Eddie came down there. We took a couple of days to shoot that movie, and we have. The first few. The first few first few takes, you know, all the actors are, you know, because he's doing them random. He's just tossing them out there. But then we start getting used to it. You know, and after a while you become desensitized, so the first AD was having a resort to all kinds of different things to try to get a reaction out of us clapping wood together, firing off a blank gun, you know, like a starter's gun. Yeah, yeah, to try to get to get that startle reaction from everybody. Because we were shooting it for so long. We firecrackers, you know, I guess it's like war, you know? And at first you're like, freaks out and then it just becomes you're eating your lunch and bombs are going up. So if you're driving around a car and sister Christian comes on the radio you think of that scene too, right? Actually you don't. Sister Christian doesn't come on the radio when I'm. I don't know..

The district has closed those schools for the day again. North Forney and Smith Intermediate. They're up a falcon way, and this is believed to be unrelated to the school. But what we're learning is from the sheriff's department. There was a report last night on Falcon Way of a person laying in the road. It was believed it could have been a vehicle versus pedestrian crashed. But when authorities got there, they realize the person was a victim of a gunshot. So It's a massive investigation. They've had to close up a big perimeter. And because of that, these two schools are closed. Okay, just to clarify, then this is something that happened last night. It's not an ongoing situation. All of those things nice incorrect but really hasn't given any sign in terms of. I wanna go here. I want to go there. I'm gonna do this. I wanna do that so we don't know we don't know i mean. Does he want the love. We see the free agents on the market. In terms of you know wide receivers get himself Number two receiver to complement the davante adams. So you may get a willful or the fourth. Juju smith schuster. A corey davis get an upgrade at cornerback. I mean are you going to be able or the packers going to make the move to try to spend the money to get themselves. Ah corey davis reggie smith schuster or a willfuller or this is gonna go ahead. Graft another backup quarterback. We don't know we know. No but the likelihood of rogers being traded asking for a trade zero. Where's it gonna go. What situations kennedy goto. That's better than the one that he has right now. In green bay people talk. Well san francisco san francisco san francisco. You're gonna try to tell me. The skill players for san francisco are better than the ones in green bay. I don't think so. Yeah you might have a kyle. Shanahan abdul offense a playcaller which could be heaven on earth but seems to mean fluorine. Too bad either. Mean the opportunity to play with. Sean payton intriguing. Maybe go to indianapolis. They have a lot of Cap space and play with and be the quarterback for that team under right. Okay maybe possibly but take a little of the skill players on that team. There's no one. There's no number one receiver michael. Thomas isn't better than devante. Atoms tice yeltsin is that better than Davante adams you take a look at the wide receiving corps upgrade. You take a look at that team in general dylan upgrade. I don't think maybe rogers is like well. You know what. I'm so fucking great that you put me on the new orleans san francisco and indianapolis and i can elevate. I knew what brady did. The season within going to tampa bay elevating some of talent. I don't know. I don't know. But i i know one thing is that he's a beautiful mystery. What the hell is aaron rodgers talking about. I got mystery. Forty metre jefferson. What time is it. Oh here's a clue. You're wearing a watch an old jefferson's for those my age. You should know won't talk about what they're joke number seriously. Man i i think i just think it's a situation where where we're speaking about. Twenty twenty one season that aaron rodgers will be back at the quarterback with a green bay packers..

"Certainly give him credit for that. No doubt the Roy white former Yankee great on the Bernie and said show, So after the whole civil rights legislation passed, and it was sadly after Martin Luther King was assassinated, though, ah things did you experience a tangible You know the difference in the way you were treated, you know, in various cities, especially in the south. I mean, obviously you were allowed to stay with your team. But I mean, there was still this anger and this hate, I guess directed at that black individuals, especially in the south by by white people. Yeah, There was still a little bit of that. I mean, you got some of it at the ball perps. Uh, you know, there was some racial epithets, you know, Insults shouted at you. Sometimes. From my from the bleachers out in left field. You might hear something, Uh, It wasn't regular. But here and there, you know that existed. I mean, it still does. Today, It still happens and it's uh it's really a shame the other. There's so much hatred and In a lot of people on this issue has been going on for so long. And, uh, it's really scary. You know, you know what's happening. What the capitals that is that many angry people out there. You know that overthrow the government and change things that it was this really Is really frightening. This p. What's going on? The great Roy White between 1965 in 1979 became one of more popular New York Yankees of all time. And then when you get to the Yanks and made a lot of your good bodies, Roy were white men like Bobby Murcer. No, was a good friend of yours and Like they always remember the story. Bucky Dent tells me it every year when Thurman Munson passed away when his plane crashed and all you guys, of course with devastated But if I'm correct, you were very, very tight. Back then with Bobby Mercer. Yes. Yeah. Thurman Thurman and I sat next to each other in the locker room. He our lockers were side by side. And what was that? Ryan? How do you know that? Yeah, the last the last to elect of lockers on the left side. You know, as you went in the last two were right before you got to the trainer's room. Thurman at the last one, and I had the second to the last one. The very last locker. He always put his catcher's equipment is low, So we became very good friends way, sat together on a lot of plane flights and then had dinner together many times. You know, you talked about his His family. You know, Dick family man and talked about what he was gonna do. When he got out of baseball, You know how he wanted to develop shopping centers and Canton, Ohio. And, uh, Mercer. Now you know, we came up together. So we were friends, You know, being rookies on the Yankees in 1965 when we got called up, And then when he came back and 68 so therefore, Bobby, he he called me his his own hitting instructor. He always used to say that what he was doing wrong. You know what? He got this love, Roy. Watch me. What am I doing? Yeah, yeah. Getting out on the front side, you know? Yeah, I would try to tell about Yeah, You're you know, getting on your front foot too. Too early. You know, you gotta hold back a little longer and stuff so Yeah, It's sad to lose both of those guys. You know, they were closed and you know, they're both of left too early. You know, from the baseball scene, no doubt about it. No doubt the Roy Hilton white former Yankee great that Name to two All Star teams during his career. Roy White. No conversation about You know, the black civil rights movement, especially with the baseball player would be complete, especially a guy who played for the New York Yankees. If we didn't talk about Jackie Robinson now he lived in New York City while you were a Yankee. Did you know him? And what about his legacy and how it impacted you during your baseball career? Yeah, I measured against several times. You know, at some dinners in the off season, you know, back when I'm going first came up with the Yankees in the early sixties, Uh, met his wife later on that it's um, benefits and some golf tournaments and up a great guy to talk to, uh, Uh, Dr. Respect him tremendously for what he did when we were kids. We all know about Jackie. You know, I grew up out in Compton, California. And we knew about the Dodgers and Jackie Robinson. And and what do you have to go through and what he had to endure? You know, so the guys like us could get to the big leagues. So so that was a great throw when I got a chance to meet with Jackie Last one, Roy and again I can't thank you enough for getting up at 6 a.m. for me this morning. You really are a good friend of sorry, But you've been so wonderful this morning so wonderful. You guys got swept in the World Series in 1976 by Cincinnati and that really pissed off your old boss George Steinbrenner. She went on. He got a guy named Reggie Jackson and the next two years after that, the summers of 1977 in 1978. You guys were World Series champions, Beating the Los Angeles Dodgers into Great World Series with the Dodgers suffered their own laws last week when they're great manager Tommy Lasorda. Passed away What? We have memories in the other dugout of Tommy Lasorda with those great Dodger teams. Yeah, he was quite a character. No doubt about that. Ah! Very good sense of humor. You know, he was the guy you're gonna be around and was always gonna have you laughing about something. You know, He had a lot of good baseball stories to tell. So so that was a big thrill. You know for me, you know, growing up in Los Angeles and getting a chance to play against him in two world Syriza's Uh, with my my parents, you know, in the stands, Wow. And it also playing against my my little league buddy Reggie Smith. We both played the same little league out in Compton. And went to the same high school. So so that was great, and I'm beating them in those two times. He was a great plan. But it has that dream..

"Time. Oh, yes. Hey, if I am 6 40 it is the Conway show, David vast say is with us, and I owe the The audience is story. But David, maybe you could be involved with this yourself on how you bub. I'm doing great, Tim. Thanks for having me on to celebrate Tommy. Tommy is the best man you guys been knocking it out all day long over there at 5 70 am K l A C And that is a That's a It was a really great job. I sat there. I couldn't stop listening. I sat there in the car and went through a drive thru to graduate some food and just sat there while eating my food listening to story after story. I know that That aural her shines there came on a couple other the Dodgers. Who else saw a phoned in today. Yeah, we had Steve Garvey run, say two of the players that New Tommy and play for Tommy, the longest going back to Ogden, Utah, Tim 1968. When Tommy was just given a job as a minor league manager, and those two young men at the time were drafted by the Dodgers and also Rick Monday Who? Tommy Lasorda went to his house when he was 17 years old here in Santa Monica to try to convince his mother toe have Rick Forget about college and forget about Arizona State. And come play and signed with the Dodgers. And obviously, that didn't happen. Rick Mom wanted him to go toe college, but it would be it would be about 20 years later. That Rick would find his way in a Dodgers uniform in 1977. To play for Tommy Lasorda and just texting with Rick. And no and being with Rick every day, and I know you've had him on the show is a big fan. Ah, lot of people don't know the imprint that Tommy Lasorda had on his life. He grew up with a single mom. And Tommy Lasorda was like a dad to him. And that meant a lot to him that Tommy came to 1000 17 years old. He was a big Dodger fan, and he found his way to the Dodgers and Tommy Lasorda. So You know a lot of these. These players that play for him in the late eighties and early nineties? Yeah, they have a connection to him. But the players like Garvey Lopes Russell say break Monday Reggie Smith. Those guys build bucking there. Bobby Valentine, those guys where with Tommy at the very beginning, and it's a just a different bond that they have with him. Yeah, I know. I was listening to this story or two or all her Sizer when he called, And I didn't know this about Hersh iser by, you know, Tommy Lasorda said, Hey, You know you're gonna be on the team. It's gonna be great. And then right after the freeway serious, he was sent down to the minors, and the Dodgers had a great pitching staff that you're so he never came back. And when he finally did come back You know, Tommy Lasorda said, You know, you're you're here to stay. And then shortly thereafter gave me a nickname. And or Orel Hershiser knew that once Tommy Lasorda gave you a nickname, man. He believed in you, and he trusted you and you were going to be there for a long time. As long as you work hard. Yeah, And that nickname for Aural, As you know, was Bulldog because he felt like he was too passive. He wasn't aggressive on the mound and he needed to change his name, He said. I don't like that name, Orel. Your name from now on is Bulldog and that was just the mindset that he wanted from those guys. And you know, it's interesting to him is, you know, I called the long time Dodger employee. That was the bad boy that put the balls on the tea for Kirk Gibson in 1988 Mitch Poole, who later became a clubhouse manager and He was just telling me some great stories last night about Tommy and this is before either of us knew that he had passed and he just meant so much to a lot of people, not just the players. Not just the fans, but the people behind the scenes. She treated them really well, and that's why so many of them were loyal to him. And so many people cared about him, Tommy You know, you hear the jokes about him not picking up the tab for dinner here in there, but he was a really generous guy in a lot of different ways. Yeah, he was great. And he loved the Petros of money show. I mean, he would. You would go to the box when Petros and money had listeners up to the stadium. Heywood go toe with their remotes. I mean, he really enjoyed those two. Well, you know why he loved the Petros The money show. It's because of the first guy Petro's Joe Amalfitano the way Petros explained it to me. Joe Amalfitano, who was the third base coach. When Tommy was the manager. He was a stampede. Rogue. I Hey, would bring Tommy down to the Papadakis Taverna, and that's where you talk. You would see a 10 year old Petros. And that just shows you that Tommy never forgot family and friends because 20 years later, Petros is hold hosting a talk show, and Tommy still remembers that 10 year old Petros, and that's the way he would speak to him. So that's the story behind it, And that's the loyalty. That Tommy had and I gotta tell you, Tim. Tommy was a huge advocate of mine and always has been, and there was a time I would say two years ago that I was in Dave Roberts manager's office, and Dave was About to scold me for being a little too critical. And he got interrupted by Tommy Lasorda. Tommy came into his office and all of a sudden he sees me in there, and he interrupts the conversation and without knowing what was being said. He looks a Dave Robertson says. This guy loves the Dodgers. He knows a lot about baseball, and he saved me right there on the spot without even knowing it without just having that loyalty and understanding. People and remembering that that relationship and all never forget that because Tommy loved me, and I mean, I love Tommy. He was so good to me. Yeah, He was great in Hitman that Tommy Lasorda remember everybody's name everybody. He really did. If he if he cared about you, there's some beat writers. He forgot that their name he calls if he didn't know your name, Timmy call you big guy, but there's so much l instead of Chief for buddy he call you big guy..
