"reese davis" Discussed on KTTH 770AM

"Way are back. It's the happy hour here on the guy vents and show almost to the weekend and earlier in today's program, we had the pleasure of speaking again. With Reese Davis of ESPN. He's one of their big college football guys. The national championship game is coming up on Monday, want to pick his brain about that and some of the other issues surrounding college football? We take our minds off of politics for just a moment. Probably healthy thing these days. Let's roll some of my interview with Reese Davis. You know, I have to say we've had you may have heard a bit of an eventful week here in Washington, D C and I cannot tell you how eager I am to talk about college football with you because that sounds like a lot more fun. And what we've been covering all week long, So let's dive in, and I want to ask you about the most important story in college football, and that is the commanding Citrus Bowl victory for the fighting. Reese Davis is known to some as the Northwestern Wildcats. And if you know, you know, look going from worst to first in the Big 10 West, winning the Citrus Bowl that defensive performance against Ohio State in the championship game, You raised the trophy Ascend. Defensive coordinator Mike Hankwitz out with his 400 career win. Is he retires as Wildcats fan? I can't really complain about any of that. They had a terrific season and you're right. They come back because appointing your last year, But you know better than anybody guy two times in three years in the Big 10 championship game and to perform the way they did defensively and and to me make the strides that they made offensively to. It was much improved products will certainly way aways to go on that side of balls. But it was. It was a great way to finish with the victory against Auburn, and I don't know if you know this, but My wife went to offer. And so when they put out the little thing on Twitter, the joke where they had offered him one end zone and someone had mocked it up to say the fighting re services and the other end zone. I sent that copy to her. I was in New Orleans working and I said, Okay, So who are you really brooding for now? So it was. It was a great finish to them, and I really I really think Pat did a great job with them s so hang on. I just have to pause. You went to Alabama, didn't you? I did. Yeah. Okay, So we've got an Alabama Auburn household Situation house that I was game day during Iron Bowl times. You don't want it because of my work so few times over the years have we actually been in the same place on the day of the Iron Bowl? But when we are What we What we decided to do is that we just watch the games in different rooms of the house so that we can we can react without fear of being obnoxious to the other. One so way stake out our different corners of my daughter has aligned herself with me and my son aligned himself. With with my wife until we go to our separate quarters. In the rare years in which I happen to be home, you know, I will say, because Northwestern in my lifetime and here it is a fan. We played Auburn now twice in bowl games, both memorable for us for different reasons. The first time was just wild. Back in 1920 10. I think it was And I will say Auburn has one of the best fight songs in college football. In my opinion, as does Northwestern again, in my opinion, so I've enjoyed hearing those bands Go head to head I can on Lee. Imagine what dinner must have been like for breakfast the next morning on the kick six iron ball. I mean, he couldn't have. She could not have helped herself to rub it in the next day. Unless she's a woman of incredible character and restricted. She is a woman of incredible Well, character and incredible strength. When that happened, guys, I was on the air with Mark May and Lou Holtz and that was the CBS Games that we didn't have it. So I described it as it was happening. We were in middle of the scoreboard show and the irony. I guess that might be misuse of the word irony, which we all do too often. Sometimes, my son my son's name is Chris Davidson. Chris Davis, with the name of the player who returned two kicks it for a touchdown for Robert. So, so I I got a kick out of for a few years when they would show that I would say, you know, nobody. Nobody could kill speed like Chris Davis. What a day in the Davis household. That must have been so last question on Northwestern because I'll get off of that because we have. It's a niche line of questioning. I'll admit, But when you look at the Northwestern defense and what they did against Ohio State in the Big 10 championship game, then you look at what Ohio State came out and did to Clemson. What I think shocked a lot of people in that playoff game. Have to ask, you know, in terms of defense of performance, where to the Wildcats stack up when you see How badly the Tigers struggled to stop that same offense. Not exactly the same thing. A few guys back but basically the same crew. Itwas and it was certainly a much better job than Big Clemson. Did, you know, second half Ohio State found a lot of a lot of success running the ball against Northwestern, but Northwestern completely. Be funneled Justin Fields and Clemson Most certainly did not. He was he was brilliant in that game, So you know that's a good defensive performance. At least past events performance against You know, against Ohio State that I could imagine. I mean, I know of are they wasn't there and that sort of Justin Field security blanket for Ohio State, but it's not as if they roll out. You know, just, you know, guys off some interview, Errol team to play with receiver when they're leaving the Buckeyes. Yeah, they do for one another five stars, So they were talented guys, that sort of high stakes. I mean, partly Northwestern was just terrific and pass defense against Ohio State. So then the Buckeyes roll up their sleeves. Show up for this first round basically the playoffs. And everyone was picking Clemson Davos, Sweeney had rank them 11th, right. There was a major chip on their shoulder and I was not expecting the beat down that ensued. It was It was something to behold. And it's like the Buckeyes want to say OK, America. You think we shouldn't be here? You think we don't deserve to be here? You think we're in the same category as Notre Dame? Guess again. Check out this scoreboard. Will they have the same chip on their shoulder heading into Alabama? Or is there? Is there a risk of a letdown? I don't know. They don't feel let down, but I can't imagine that anyone could manufacture that side ship or motivation for two consecutive games. Um They had the game from last year, which they felt that had they been made critical Mistake's and they've got a call go their way. They should have beaten Clinton last year, so that have been on there on the video boards and their facility for an entire year. Clemson 29, Ohio State 23. Then the things you mentioned, then the question about whether they played enough games to actually be in the playoff. And all of those things just came to a head and they play to their potential. There. There are three programs, maybe four, though Georgia hasn't accomplished to the same level of the other three very cut above in terms of talent and death of talent. Those three year Alabama Quinn's in Ohio State. You know, Ohio State did not take a back seat to either of the other two there. They're all side by side in terms of talent accumulation, And because of that, you know, that's why I always say performance in a postseason game. Has very little to do with selection. It was a valid question to say that to ask whether Ohio State should have been included based on the number of games it play, but once they were included I think people were foolish if they didn't think they had a chance to win because they have star players. They've got a lot of them. They got depth and experience. They're tremendously coast and they could be down. Obama's well, uh But he did. That does not be legitimized the question as to whether they should have been included. I would have included them because the charge is find the four best teams. But it's a valid question because navigating the season to count for something as well, and they had to do half as many games as the others..

Notre Dame Ranks in Top 5 College Football Programs

"I watched the clips of brian. Kelly press conference and he looked like he was exact exasperated. And i don't know if you're a notre dame fan. How do you feel about this. Because he's i mean he's a really really good coach. We do these top. Twenty five lists every year and brian. Kelly definitely should be in the top five and they have really good players. But i don't know and he's right alabama's done this to almost everybody. They actually didn't do it. The florida but you know was there were still you know it's like we'll see if ohio state gets closer. So let's let's fill people in on the quotes if they didn't see them after the game not surprisingly. Maybe he was surprised. I don't know he was asked a lot about. How does the here how frustrating the question was how frustrated is. How frustrating is it to get to a playoff again lose by this margin the margin not the issue. Losing his losing. I don't know really. What the inferences. This football team battled and they made more plays they being alabama made a few more. Plays on the perimeter. I'm not sure really what the question is when you lose football games you know. There's a few more plays jeff to make. We had the opportunity. You watch the game. I watched the game So everybody needs to continue to carry this narrative that not not good enough. Look at the scores of the games. The albums played all year. And i think when you start changing the narrative little bit then somebody asks as you look at it. You feel like the program has gotten a lot closer. What's the next step. You feel like you guys could take need to take i. I don't really wanna continue to go down this path. We're going to keep getting here okay. And we're gonna keep banging at it and you guys watched the game in you. They had the college football player of the year. Who made some dynamic place. We battled. We were right there. So we're going to keep getting back here. And i'm sorry i don't like it or the national media doesn't like it but we're going to go back to work we're gonna keep recruiting. We're going to put ourselves back in this position again I mean i know. He's got to defend the program. And you know what's he going to say like. Oh yeah we're we're we've got a ways to go But you're right like if you're ordering fan who who still believes deep down the program. That should win the national championship. How do you feel about your coach. Basically coming on saying he's basically trying to say yeah. We don't have a devante smith. We don't have nausea harris. But we were good enough that like if we caught them on the day we could one maybe is that is that we took from it. Yeah and i'm thinking about it. It's like this notre dame team. And i would say it from the last from the jalen smith Ronnie stanley era up. So whatever it is i guess. Maybe it's the last five or six years they've had like some special athletes right. I mean ronnie stanley elite talent offensive lineman jalen field. Jalen fields. Jalen was is home. Ultra talented linebacker. They've had Kyle hamilton is as athletic as any any safety. The country i mean they have some of these guys will fuller was as fast and dynamic as any receiver just about. I mean it's not like they haven't kyran williams of big time running back they just don't have quite enough of them right. I mean like they don't have any of them. It's not like you know. The the line from joey galloway said like northwestern's a bunch of reese davis's you know the inference there is like notre dame has has some guys who would play anywhere and they've always had a bunch of good offensive linemen. They have good tight ends. I don't think they're light years away from having like a team that could win a national title. I mean they're they're a top five team. It's just you know. I don't know like like maybe this is a better way to frame it. Like if they were playing ohio state they have somehow gotten by alabama. I mean Let's take alabama out of the equation if they were playing ohio state and somehow it was a two three game. Let's say let's say that it was just a playoff game but it wasn't. You know as the i. I could see Notre dame beating ohio state. Even after what. I just saw from ohio state alpha. If justin feels plays away did tonight. I couldn't but like i don't think it's out of the realm of possibility like i think there are. You know i watched their. I think notre dame's better team than georgia. I think not notre dame honesty's a better team than florida now. It's easy to say that after you've seen some of these teams get exposed some but lake and those teams. Those teams have played with alabama on a given night right. So i just don't think they have as much margin for error right

"Wanna know what college football is all about? How about these fighting? Reese Davis is right here. How? Joey Galloway? How about the fighting? Reese Davis is Now the background of that is Joey Galloway earlier this week, was asked about the chances for Northwestern and can they could 10 and Galloway basically said, Listen, they're just a bunch of athletic Reese Davis is okay. Um, well, Pat Fitzgerald in his postgame presser. He was having some fun and the players coming off the field. Katie were even saying Ray's dad misses high with Reese Davis is Well, he explained a little bit more about how that little fire and how they upset Wisconsin. 17 to 7. Yeah, I mean, that really took their guys off. I'm not gonna lie to you. I mean, it was I thought, incredibly District Back for, um, you know, but that is what it is. It's not the first time and I just talked to the guys about putting fuel in their engine man. Just use that is fueling the engine and just go out and play the way. We're careful. We got really, really good football players. Got outstanding football players my opinion. We got a bunch of guys. They're gonna be potentially all big 10, potentially all American and potentially in the NFL, and you gotta earn it every rep. We've had to do that. Here now, since I've been a part of the program. It's like the nearer we have one bad year, and it's like 19 whatever again. And I understand that I respect people's opinions, but, yeah, that was that was a little bit extra fuel in the rocket. There's no question about that. Whatever you need, right, Katie say whatever it takes. If that's your rallying cry, so be it because right now, Northwestern has a 96% chance, according to ESPN, FBI Reached the Big 10 championship game, and more than likely they'll go ahead and face the Ohio State Buckeyes over on that side of team that has a little bit better than maybe the fighting. Reese Davis is when you look at their roster looked like it down in Tuscaloosa. Jones back.

"You have an offensive line guy that you can go to you. Have you have Reese Davis playing traffic cop, right rowing, it all over the place to what are you seeing here? Why are the eagles terrible and ofensive line this year? But they were great at it last year. What happened there, right? Joe Thomas, tell us what happened there like someone who's an air traffic controller in the booth that is just going all over the place to an unsolvable that that could be paid with John gruden's per diem now CBS tried this a little bit right with J Feeley with specialty taking with an official expert. But yet CBS was the ground break ground. They try to J J Feeley, but you can do it instead of just having a two or three man booth. You could just sort of spread out the talent contracts and give and share the ball more with experts in their position trenches expert. A secondary expert, it'd be cool way and ESPN it would have to be a place. Only has the rights to like one game a week because that's a lot of moving parts. But maybe he SPN can try something out like this with the ESPN. Plus, it'd be cool to say, I think it would be great dance your question. Yes. The network that brought back. Murphy Brown was the innovator on this front. Yup. I always want kicking experts because it's such a huge part of the game. I I enjoy that. Jay thing. Jay feel is also very good at it. J Feeley is excellent at at analysis of kickers and football period. And it's only available on the games that he's doing because no one else is going to the the key. We should do it off of a Monday night game. Like, we've got a offense of line question. We should call bacilli like we should watch the Monday night game with our audience and full around with it and take it if he SPN doesn't want. So you just go into Collins worth on wide receiver stuff. That's it. Whatever you're just creating a new stable of people in a new way to do the broadcast with the understanding that everyone's watching Sunday night football. It doesn't matter. What you're putting they're like they're already watching it. So why not modernize it for the modern age because it really doesn't make? Sense that Al Michaels is sitting there and then hold on a second. Let's bring in Chris Collins worth who's been sitting next to him the whole time like we can do it a different way it's allowed or we could just keep doing it that way for the rest of the time leave Al Michaels in the booth for another hundred year the new way scares me. I know it's good terrifying. Changes terrify, I like this guys. We should absolutely do this. Now, we're going to have to cut back on a cracker, Jack jokes and polls. We're going to have to explain what's going on. Let's do this. Can we race seven billion dollars for rights fees? I could go fund me how many shirts can you can't. We have Monday night football. We're already paying ten billion dollars. You have Monday night football. No. We have saying we have. It's a why can't we? Associated football. Right. Right. Right. You're saying that maybe we bring credible people like they might be open to the can't we outsource the credibility. And we'll just be the court gestures around the credibility. Do they not trust us to do it without getting someone fired that what it is?.

"I was just wondering if that was a conversation among anybody that saying gyms gotta go, okay. I don't know a single soul that saying gyms gotta go. That's positive. We went down this wormhole ran going to do your news. Let's head it. Well, I mean, we got we got we got our friend Reese Davis calling and shortly. So why don't I take one more phone call? We'll chat with Reese, and then we'll finish the show with your news. Does that sound? That sounds great. Because you've got some great Big Ben sound soundbite. I want to get to this big. Ben Tom Brady as waited on the loss, and Debbie Sweeney. Had this crazy ran just here Brady on the loss right now somewhat germane to ten and one other eleven and one we have how to beat those guys and we lost them so much. I mean, I don't feel like ever, you know, ever win any of these bets. We haven't been lows and maybe last year low closer, but still it sixty some points of swallow. But we'll see maybe we can get the Rosebowl. I think if things go away again the Rose Bowl that'd be a good consolation. How Brady bet with Nate Abner on the team? Yeah. So Michigan gets in the Rose Bowl. If Ohio State beats northwestern and gets to the final four, right, right? Then Michigan having the second best record in the big ten would be the one ago. That's the way they wind up here on January first. It's a play Washington. Or would be Washington. You think? Yeah. But that big win in the apple Cup in the snow. And you missed you missed Texas. See the end of that. I just saw the game. I thought it was a basketball. Well, LSU. It's amazing. We'll just hit this. And then we'll take the Reese Davis LSU gave coach or Giron a Gatorade bath. Because they picked off Texas AM on a fourth in eighteen pass know par-, pardon me. They picked off LSU picked off Texas AM, but Texas AM's quarterback's knee was determined to be on the ground before he threw it. So they thought it was over. But after further review one more go at it. And two plays later. They converted a fourth in eighteen and capped off the drive to tie the game on. So inner set. They intersection intercepted they down. No. But the quarterback's knee was down. So he was down at the spot. And then next play four two plays later. They converted four eighteen which the whole country flipped out over because the yellow line was off on the SEC network screen. And they thought that Texas am had not gotten the first down and the refs totally blew it. But they get the first down the latest reminder everybody, and I cannot stress this enough as a broadcaster in America. I'm mandated distress the yellow line is unofficial. And then seven overtimes, ensued. So or Jurong coach that entire seven over in west so can Gatorade. And there are a couple times where LSU players because it was game to men they're down cramping. They needed the game. They could've used the Gatorade. That was all over their coach. Wow. That's man. That's crazy. Eight four four phone lines, man. This is going to be fun. I restate us when we come back here on the rich Eisen show. Everybody's got it to do list. Drop off the dry cleaning pick-up some milk..

"I don't know to reverse the names are maybe that's that is friendship that they said whenever we change our podcast because we're best friends. You can have your name. I after I had my name. I that's an unbelievable compromise. So I'm gonna I'm gonna go ahead and believe that their friendship is real that. It is that good. What to do first? Let's do college football top of mind and with this weekend. And now that it's kind of when I'm taping this later in the week a little bit of a look ahead. So with the whole purpose of this podcast, and the way we wanted to do it. And we're gonna have to talk about getting hooked up Nashville already working on on the ground feet on the ground. I'll probably send a tweet. Does anyone studio Nashville where I can take a podcast couple hours? But the original idea would be to do this at night, right? Once the college football playoff rankings, come out. Well, those rankings are coming out next Tuesday. And I am your guy. I'm your guy to guide you through all of this stuff because I not only have done two different mock committee things that took all day. I've had the committee chair on after the rankings came out every single day for four straight years. And I think I'm the only guy that did that at least that quickly afterwards. Maybe it's as Browning hundred percent sure because Reese Davis makes up stuff all the time every set about Reese, anyway, if I look at just the college ball part of this. Ohio state. Let's start there. What's up? Okay. Ohio State loses Purdue and it wasn't fake like it felt real. They couldn't block Purdue. And they had to throw it a million times. Not only did they allow pressure. Did Purdue put up a huge number on them when you watch planet like there's so many times where you go. This is kind of a weird fluky wind or you know, that shouldn't have happened or there's an explanation behind it. And then there's times you watch games and the term we used to always use ago. "Into the game, you've up your money. That's how you find out it was bad for my bets were safe. That just wouldn't be any juice. We point spreads the prop bets, the teasers, the parlays from Vegas to you. This is behind the bats, the college years, got a loving underdog when he howls now alongside Krista bear fully values, a home team, getting points. What's better than that here. Stanford, Steve, what's here? Yeah. We zero review podcast that were calling this. I may as other games are games on Saturday. There will. It's here. We'll we'll discuss a couple of those. In this podcast, we also have Laura Rutledge from SEC network ESPN. You've seen her all over the place breaking down the SEC for us and Reese Davis. We get to little group group of five conference, NAT conference their own entity, but we talk about AP poll with him and touch on some some teams. He's got his eye on on this week, and I thought it was. I got a lot. He gave us a playoff team. He's picking he did. He gave us a playoff team. He now from the group group for five and gave us. A team that he thought potentially could be the team from the top ten that false out. And I proposed a couple of projects to him in and he gave good answers to that. So I was appreciate hearing from people who are lot smarter than me. We'll get all that in on the back end of the podcast, but I you mentioned AP poll is out first reaction. I was surprised, Wisconsin was the highest ranked team from the big, ten worry. I think correct. I don't know if you know the answer, but I believe all of these votes were in before the Ohio State. Was going on. That being said, I'm surprised, Wisconsin is ranked ahead of Ohio State state would be three and maybe Georgia, foreign Wisconsin, five. So that's the prize me. Are you feel about your canes? It's about where they should be? I mean, I already see people mad that Washington and Oklahoma are head of him. Why? I don't know that you're crazy fan base. Why Washington? Probably better. All right. I'm just saying stuff from crazy canes. Hagelin week one. I could feel thing regardless of what it would. As I said this morning, I get so excited to see the release of the preseason poll that ultimately like means nothing. But both of those teams after one game or they're gonna go up or down depending on what happens loses LSU. They're gonna fall, Washington blues, Auburn, they're gonna fall to go up Etta both of them. All right. I've I've said it all summer and our West Virginia was right high, much higher in the than they were the coaches. I'm kinda getting cited about West Virginia. Of course, you are. Everybody is Willie Greer, baby sake. Running back. I got, I have no problems with their offense. I got a bad feeling. They're going to lose one of those games, Tennessee. What's what was going to read something somebody, their players have like hand. Now disease? Yeah, then they change it to players with the program. So it wasn't all players. Then the line went up. Yeah, it's up to. It's still not see. Defense plan doesn't matter. I don't know. All right. But I mentioned all summer. My number flood wildcard is Florida's statement. I really don't know what to do with them, and I'm also starting to feel down about my Texas longhorns. I wanted to pick them to win the conference. I did not. I'm actually going to pick TCU watch college game on Saturday morning. This coming Saturday morning Saturday morning, whatever. Whatever the Saturday is the twenty eight twenty fifth think. Yeah, twenty five. Yeah. Yep. I think someone on the set might pick the Texas longhorns to win the big. Twelve really. Yeah. Yeah. And just a personal? No, I'll be at the USC Texas game this year. September fifteenth. Still looking for a hotel room so anybody can help me man at places. Steep right now of prices also have a call in the coach, Herman, see if you can help me out. But often I'll be there. He'll be at the four seasons, you'll be fine. And you know, we mentioned UCF in Boise what reasonable. We'll discuss that with him. I'm worried about the UCF thing..

"College football or one. Of the college football fans are. Getting mad at him I think he said today, that he thinks that I didn't Emma getting this wrong urban Meyer will in fact probably. Keep, his. Job Did I. Hear that right of dollar that, the finebaum basically said he thinks at, this point at this point at this point in the investigation if. What everybody urban Meyer says is, true is, that? He ran it up, the fight and, went to the athletic director and he says yes he may get suspended. For lying to the media or not, firing him right away or whatever it is but ultimately he will. Keep his, job there was a guest today. In the eight, o'clock hour of Golic and, wingo? I forget what his name, was someone who's covering this who said if you, asked him at the time the news broke the chances at urban. Meyer would keep his job it would be like at point one percent right and then he, said as. Of today he believes it's at about twenty five percent that he keeps his job so not quite what finebaum is saying but he's he's philosophy was based on who's. In on this committee you know there are people inside Ohio State in this quote. Independent committee is Greg McElroy right quarterback former quarterback From alabama But there are there are state people in this committee It's supposed to be. Independent I think pretty much everyone I think Reese, Davis I think finebaum I think all. Of the the the very, trustworthy voices surrounding college football most of them all said they thought it was highly unlikely. That he would retain his job when it first broke so this is obviously a a change in sentiment. With regard to Herman Myers potential status at Ohio State speaking of a former Buckeye, chargers defensive enjoy both has injured his foot in practice suffered a left foot injury during the eleven on eleven, team drills today hobbled off the field on his own, spent the rest of practice getting treatment for. The. Injury no word on how severe the, injury is interesting we have a conversation later as well About whether or not Khalil Mack should be on the bears. Radar he is with the answer to that. Is for sure yes. You would think the realistic chances of trading for him is different. But he should be on. The bears radar yes I. Would think I would. I would hope the bears would make a concerted, effort to acquire him if the raiders. Are in fact willing to trade him because they're in an impasse with the contract the bears have one of the. Highest amounts of money available cap room and they have a good situation because they're starting quarterback is still. Under their control for three more years after this year yes at a low price, it's similar to what the Seahawks where the beneficiary of with Russell Wilson and other teams who had had good, young quarterbacks let's hope he turns into a Russell Wilson, that would be nice Gilbert arenas has delivered. Details. On the two thousand nine gun incident Arena says that trash talking during a card game pop the around the NBA and not the. Money lead to a gun showdown with teammate Joe Veras Crittenden remember that, story the whole gun things on a plane and then ironically they were in the Washington Bullets yeah now the gun made. Of. Golden right I don't. Know if it was made of gold but that was the to me that was one of the most parts of the. Stories that give it a read is not. Only is carrying a. Gun but it's it's golden gun yeah well he was agent zero Man, with golden gun remember there is like. Five year period, where Gilbert arenas was a great. Basketball. Player Wayne then he got the, contract. With Washington wasn't one of the first one hundred, million dollar contracts given out free agency he went down quickly he did I Yankees outfielder Jacoby ellsbury has season ending hip surgery so he's out Jarvis Landry, says he lobbied the Browns. To. Trade, for Odell Beckham junior But they haven't what do you mean like he's he he's currently lobbying for that I. Don't think that the giants aren't going? To train them are they I hope isn't he is so why would you trade a guy who's not holding out? If you don't. Think.

"It it does a little bit first and last on ESPN radio and the ESPN app and, that to me just the sentiment behind. That and I understand the different context there but this idea of the personal nature of a situation being a reason for urban Meyer anyone in power in any of these institutions to keep something in house is to me the core of this issue because we're talking about things allegations of domestic violence things that these people are. Not trained in a way to handle correctly And so you've got these chains of commands that are supposed, to happen on college campuses but when. We do to defer to the power systems in place there and the people that are asked to make these decisions in a place where for largely the rest of their power goes unchecked they are such deities in these institutions and in these programs that they're allowed to operate with an overwhelming amount of power in those areas That without some outside force without some means. To check and to make these processes transparent when it comes to issues as serious as criminal offenses I don't think we. Can expect these groups anymore we've seen too, many examples of these groups failing. To be transparent and failing to demonstrate the accountability necessary in. A lot of these instances so we will get to more of that more reaction from I thought it was interesting are Reese Davis had very interesting reactions on this Trevor manage our. "The entire list on ESPN dot com. There are twenty one teams mentioned six of which were led by Nick Sabin guys in Alabama is currently the odds on favorite to win the title. Again this year, looking for their sixth title since two thousand nine. Earlier this week, the head coach talked to Reese Davis about his quarterback situation. Wouldn't be totally absurd for both guys to have a role on the team in some kind of way. I, which I don't have many people ever acknowledge that, but it is a possibility. It has been done in a path. I think most people would say, well, you'd like to have a quarterback a quarterback. I would rather have to than one I would rather have to than none. This one of those things that Nick Sabin his saying at every media availability this year guys, do you buy Andrei that it's better to have two quarterbacks? And could you see a role for both this season. Well, I think you need one unquestionable leader of your football team. And that happens to be the quarterback position at Alabama though they've had the luxury of the last couple of years of being able to kind of sort through this. And this is why think, coach savings the best in the business. He's already planting seeds. It's the off-season. I'm giving coaches a headache to figure out who's gonna start this week. I got a, I got to prepare for two quarterbacks or maybe I have to prepare for two quarterbacks. This is why he's the best in the business in has been for quite some time. Well, Andrea, I think buying large, it's hard to do it that way with two quarterbacks because it tends to divide the team, but I think Alabama can for a couple of reasons. One think back to that championship game when Jalen hurts spoke after the game, if your quarterbacks like each other and they respect each other and they are good team guys. You're not gonna have that division within your team, and I think that's why they have a chance and then keep in mind you're looking at in Alabama team that is going to be way better than just about everybody they play. They will be double digit favorites and probably eleven of twelve games. There is no reason in the worldwide they can't play to quarterbacks. Their defense will be dominant. I don't think they have to worry about losing a game or being caught up in a game because they have a quarterback alternating quarters or whatever. And Finally, I think Nick Sabin wants to reward. Jalen hurts for being such a great teamwork teammate and hanging in there. And James one a lot of games for him, but here's breaking news, rod, Gilmore quarterbacks. There's only one that can go on the field at at at at a time in put two running backs to the game, wide receivers. All that very rarely are we best friends. We will say it and say everything correctly and public. But behind the scenes we are competing and I would rather rip your neck off then give you are share my job with you. So selfish. I like to look at it as competitors, not selfish, just that they think they're the best man for the job. The other layer of course, is that new redshirt rule that Jalen hurts may be able to take advantage of speaking of new rules. Players who transfer from one league school to another can become immediately eligible. If the former program is facing an NCWA mandated postseason ban and it will no longer require graduate transfers to sit out a year when moving to another league schools, the SEC coaches weighed in on those new rules at media days. Last week, I don't want it where it's just a free agency where any young person and college football can say, boy, this has gotten a little bit hard. I don't like this. I'm just going to move on. I don't think that's educating them properly. We're not looking forward to a form of free agency. I think all of us can't speak for everybody. I never want to, but I know that the pulse of some of our conversations is were not interested in going out and recruiting players from from other teams. Obviously it's legal, but. You don't want to turn into some form of free agency. You know, even Jalen hurts..
