Cloth masks: Dangerous to your health?
"So some rather face masks again and not the football kind Dr Marilyn singleton anesthesiologist and constitutional and administrative attorney in Redondo Beach California so Dr doesn't mask help somewhat that's what the health officials say to a certain extent now there's a huge Vietnamese study from a few years back that was actually the first really good randomized controlled study of math and you don't want to hear this but the penetration of particles through Kwok now with ninety seven percent so they basically didn't stop much of anything and one of the real problems with these masks are moisture retention and moisture actually makes the filtration capacity worst so that's kind of the science of that whole thing and so without moisture in the mask you have increased risk of infection then we kinda look at sort of the personal use of the map Intel me how many times have you been in the store you see people with the masks on and it's kind of dripping down under the nose and and kind of shifting on their face or their touch interface still bunch you got it and trying to adjust the maps well knowing what you know what I told you that there's all these particles that are sitting on the map the more you touch it and get it on your hands the worse it is and the problem with that is it's like seeing people wearing latex gloves all the time and then they never change the gloves will you haven't really done anything one after two hours whatever on the outside of the glove seeks and to your skin anyway and then you're not protecting a person you're working less because the cookies from the last person are still on your gloves so it's this false sense of security that I hate to see okay so Sir do you is there a solution then because people are still going to venture out to buy food they're still going to go over and as more and more states including this one start opening up more and more businesses people are going out into the great wide world so if masks are and it least a part of an answer is it just what just social distancing is that it social distancing I prefer the term physical distance thing so we don't feel felt on social that that is more effective and has been shocked to be more effective than a mask that makes a person feel like they can get closer to another person from the mask has done nothing and I also hate to see these diviner masks and scarves and all this because in a way you it's it's putting sort of perverse light heartedness to the situation and then it takes away some of the seriousness he may get all cute well it's not cute and we do need to be serious about it but we have to do things that will work I guess I just don't trust everybody to do a good job of staying away I mean if you've been to the the market lately you know they have a tape on the floor people still get really close to units like excuse me back up a few feet so why would I do everything I can even if the mask helps me a little and maybe reminds people to where there's two helps them a little a little bit can still be of some help if you can't trust everybody to back up well I think you're right about that certainly if you're going indoors but the real key and the point I'd really like to make is don't wear it out fine you need the fresh air and and again this goes back years back when they put patients with TB outside in the fresh air getting the vitamin D. as well as fresh air and it's shown to be good and the bacteria disbursal is twenty times lower when you're having the amount that you would get on you twenty times lower when you're out in open
