"Actor Lance Reddick known for the wire, fringe and the John Wick franchise has died. He was 60. Reddick may be best known for playing a cop at the HBO series the wire. These people do not touch the drugs. They don't go near the drugs. The wire is what gives us box deal. The actor died Friday of natural causes, according to his publicist, the Baltimore born and raised Reddick was a Yale drama school grad, and once said, I knew I was at least as talented as other students, but because I was a black man and I wasn't pretty, I knew I would have to work my butt off. Jason Whitlock: Disney Changed ESPN's Culture to Wokeness
"Now I've watched you on TV covering sports and culture for a really long time And one of the stories this week that I know you were all over was this JJ Redick Kendrick what I forgive me for Perkins I'm sorry I don't follow best what much anymore This fight they had over allegations that the NBA MVP award was being tainted by charges of racism And this happened on ESPN Jason and shockingly JJ Redick actually fought back I discussed it yesterday on my show What happened at ESPN Nobody knows this process better that better than you What happened over there Well Disney bought ESPN what 15 20 years ago and just completely changed the culture at ESPN and made it work and made it part of the culture war And then there was a time in the 2002 1010 where the website dead spin just really went after ESPN executives who wouldn't get on board with the woke leftist agenda and bullied the executives into getting on board with the leftist agenda And so ESPN's culture sports culture the left identified very early if they were going to win the culture war they had to take control of sports Sports is the number one thing on television The NFL is the number one show on 5 different television networks You're not going to win a culture war unless you control sports because sports is so powerful in popular culture the left figure that out They've overtaken ESPN the worldwide leader in sports and then they've used ESPN to impose those values and that agenda on the rest of the sports world

Jason Whitlock and Charlie Unpack Kendrick Perkins' MVP Comments
"Get your reaction to this back and forth. JJ Redick, who I always enjoyed watching JJ Redick at duke, great player, called out Kendrick Perkins for suggesting that Nikola Jokić, Steve Nash and Dirk Nowitzki only won the MVP because they were white. And now mind you, I've stopped watching the NBA a couple years ago. I might watch the playoffs here or there. I didn't even know who Nikola Jokić was until somebody told me about him. That's how disconnected I am. But Dirk Nowitzki and Steve Nash. Now those were my guys growing up. And so I find this whole narrative to be repulsive. But good for JJ Redick. I'm sure he's going to get a call from Disney for speaking truth. Play cut 59. It is an honor to be on this desk every day. It really is. But what we've just witnessed is the problem with this show. Where we create narratives that do not exist in reality. The implication what you are implying that the white voters that vote on NBA are racist, they favor white people. You just said that. Yes, you did. Yes, you did. Yes, you did. That is exactly what you implied physical purpose. That is exactly what you applied. Secondly, hold on. Hold on. I did not call. I stated the facts. I stated the facts and you not about to sit up. We all know what you implied the other day. We all know what to imply. Hold on. I started a time. It's the fun. It's the first. It's the facts. Jason, is it the facts? What's going on here? So I know Kendrick Perkins, he used to appear on the show. I did for Fox Sports. Look, Kendrick is like a lot of athletes. They spend a lot of time developing their physical gifts and don't spend a lot of time working on critical thinking. And so much of their thinking comes from Twitter. And Twitter has convinced many of these athletes and many of the broadcasters on TV that racism explains everything, anything that they don't like racism is the answer.

"Let me continue what I was saying. We got another clip, and we may have to shine, we may have to skip the first part of that clip because it's very similar. To the clip I already played. Oh, okay, so I play thing is down for a second. But I'll get to the clip here in a minute. But the gentleman Kendrick Perkins literally went on a racist rant. And so did Stephen a Smith. You know, I just, it's weird to me how black people can get on there and they can bad mouth white people as hard as they can. They can specifically say, hey white people, y'all shouldn't be doing this. And nothing is said nothing happens. There's no criticism. There's no nothing. White America y'all bet not do this. Now, just imagine if a white guy got on there and said black people, let me talk to y'all for a minute. Y'all bed and I used this as a way to talk bad about white folks. Because y'all black people need to not talk bad about my people. I mean, bro, he would get fired midair. They'll fire him while he's talking. They're literally writing his papers up and they will hand him his papers live on air and cut the stream.

How the Left Covers for Criminals
"These policies that sound cute to mindless non critically thinking people are getting people hurt, you don't need to broadcast to the entire state of Washington that we would no longer pursue if you're driving over a 100 mph. That can be a police intern. You know, we never put it out as a memo when I was on the Tucson police department. But we didn't pursue people for certain crimes in the city limits. If you're outside city limits, man, your butt is ours. But in the city limits, if you haven't committed an act of violence against another person, meaning a felony, crime gets another person that was violent if it was just property damage that was felonious, then we wouldn't chase you. But the criminals didn't know that. They thought we were chasing any day of the week all the time. But when they get woken, they start doing this fake transparency stuff, they get people killed. If a person knew that the police officer would pursue them, they probably wouldn't be driving a 110 mph, 111 mph. And if the police can't pursue them, they'll be able to stop and pit maneuver them and prevent them from killing people.

2 Children Dead After Democrat-Backed Law Prohibits Police Pursuit
"Two children dead after Democrat back law prohibits police from pursuing suspects driving a hundred, a 111 miles per hour, Washington sheriff sounds the alarm on the Democrat backed law that Barr's police officers from certain vehicular chases after two children were tragically killed by a suspect driving more than a 100 mph. Now, let me just read the quote here. It says, I've been doing this. I'm going on 27 years. I have never seen anything like this in my day and age. He told and I believe this is sheriff, had told the person from the news. He says, I like to think in western Washington state. We did a pretty good job prior to this legislation of managing our police pursuits, but when the politicians and Olympia got involved and changed the way we do business, it's just not working out.

Homosexuality and Religion
"It's funny how these African leaders are clearly opposed to homosexuality in their country. They want nothing to do with it. And they are against it. And in you know, I think this is my thoughts about it in America, and I move on to another topic, but I just really think that people should have the right to disagree. They people should have a right to say, I don't support homosexual behavior. People should have a right to say, I do support homosexual behavior. And matter of fact, I want to go and be with a man. That's something. People have the right in this country to do both. If you want to go marry a man, people should not hurt you. You know, to be honest, people shouldn't even really care. Unless you start to deal with the religious aspect of it, if you marry a man marrying a man, you can't be a pastor. That's against the Bible. You can create your own religion and he can do whatever you want to do. But you can't be following a religion following Christianity claim you're following Christ because if you ask me, it's a fraudulent organization that you run it. If you say you follow Christ, but then you're doing exactly the opposite of what Christ is doing, but you claim it to be a church and you're taking people's money every month. You're a fraudulent organization and that should come to an end. But in America, not every institution is a Christian institution. I wish it was, but it's not. And I think that people should be able to live whatever life they want to live, just like in a kingdom, or just like in life, God created men and gave us free will. So if you want to send your whole life and do whatever you want to do, that's fine.

A Thank You to Joe Biden

So Donald Trump can sweep him under the rug like grandma due to dirt after the barbecue. Joe Biden is the worst president in United States history. The cabinet that he has is the wokest most ridiculous cabinet that there is. Nobody in there know how to do anything they're supposed to do. They all woke. They got Pete booty snitching there. He don't know nothing about transportation. He has no idea what's going on. It's just because he's gay. And then the other person is trans. I don't even know what this person is doing. You might as well still be a man. If you're gonna still look like a man with a wig on. Okay, listen, that is absolutely in my opinion disrespectful. For you to say, I'm a trans woman and you don't even put no effort in to look like a woman. You look like me, I say that. Lord help me Jesus, I want to be right by you. It bothers me that these people do this stuff and they just spit in our face and trying to embarrass our country.

"I love it. You hit all the main things. And yes, are there were there moments there where I, because yes, my journalist brain kicks in immediately like, oh, ask him this or follow up with this. No, you don't. And even what I have people on this podcast, I'm not looking to grill somebody. Like the podcast is for me, this is part journalism part entertainment. It's a little bit lighter. It's not quite the same as if I'm doing some in depth story where I'm gonna say, oh, but hold on, but wait a minute. You know, and I don't listen to your pockets expecting that, even if in my own head, I was like, oh, go a little further. Oh, he veered shit. There are times. And I'm not gonna name the time. There are times when I feel like it's necessary and the guest is comfortable enough that we can do the follow-up question, and but again, I think specifically that Ben thing Ben had not really spoken. And said anything. Yeah. And, you know, him and his sister had reached out to us and said, you know, Ben really wants to do the show before the season. We said, great. We didn't know we had no idea when we agreed to do it in July that it was going to end up being like right before training camp. But I felt like as a human, I felt like as a human, it was like my responsibility to ask the question. Yeah. But then just give him the respect of saying, he's going to answer it. However, he wants to answer it. Whatever his truth is, whatever his thoughts are and opinions are. That's his opinion. That's what he's been waiting to say. And if he doesn't want to go any further, that's not on. That's not on me. I'm giving him, I'm giving him the it's the same thing we do on every show. I'm giving you the platform. You can do three word answers if you want. I'll talk the whole podcast. It's fine. But yeah, I actually, that was one of the step one that we did recently, the Ben one, those are two of the most fun episodes, I think, that I've done. As a listener, I would agree, those were the two of the most that I enjoyed the most. In large part, because of how much they said that I had not heard before. Steph talks all the time, but Steph, I felt like gave you guys kind of a different insight and version of things. Who's your white whale guest? Like, it feels like you could get almost anybody, and it's obviously there's probably some limits there, but like who's the one guest you either haven't been able to get or maybe you haven't asked yet, but like who's the white whale, the ideal? I would say for basketball, there was three and Steph was one of them. So I've got to kind of now get a third one and I'll say, I'll put Devin Booker now in that category. I'm totally fascinated by him. And he's someone who largely avoids doing a ton of press. Now he'll talk about his car collection, he'll talk about, you know, he did his 80 architectural digest home tour. He does all that. Yeah. But LeBron, LeBron, for sure, and him and I have discussed him coming on the show. I hope it happens someday. And then I actually, it's funny because how many basketball podcasts have great Larry Bird stories. I mean, we had, you know, we had GP on Gary Payton on last year and he told some stories. I was watching knuckleheads podcast the other day on YouTube and James worthy had some Larry Bird stories. And I'm like, you know what would be great to have on the show? Larry Bird himself. For sure. And I think hopefully we get LeBron. I'm not hopeful that we get Larry Bird. I just know I would love to have Larry Bird on the show. Or it's been pretty reclusive since even when he was with the pacers, but especially since he retired. He's hard to track down. Now pleased to be joined by one of the best NBA analysts in the business, host of the old man in the three pod, also low key, a foremost authority on the best pizza in my neighborhood. In Brooklyn, JJ Redick here courtesy today of DraftKings. JJ, how are you, sir? I'm doing well. I'm doing well. How are you, by the way? I'm doing great. Yes, thank you. You know, we got a chance to bump into each other briefly in a Barclays center corridor about a month or so ago. Good to see you again. Do you have any new pizza recommendations for me? Because the last time you were the one who basically told me that one of the best pizza joints in Brooklyn was coming to my neighborhood, I was already a little bit up the block. They were opening a second one. And you actually, because we randomly bumped into each other in Brooklyn, you told me exactly where this pizza place was coming. It's been spectacular, of course. It's outgrowth of Luke collie, famous lucali. Anywhere else I need to go in my own neighborhood that I don't know about that you do. You know, I don't have any pizza Rex. It's funny. I've had this weird relationship with going out to eat since COVID. I think I just got out of the habit of I was a psycho about restaurants and food and the food scene in any city that I've lived in and after COVID, I just got out of that habit. And so I bet I've tried a couple of new places. There's actually a great spot in Brooklyn heights called ingots, ingots bar. It's on hicks or Henry street. It's down sort of by the BQE, but I am a burger fanatic and it's easily one of the best burgers in the city. And a great vibe. It's like old school swanky, dark wood. It's a cool spot. Ingus bar. Excellent. All right, now I know where I'm going with your ESPN colleague June Lee, who covers baseball for ESPN. We have, we've been doing it in a formal kind of burger tour. Every time we get together, but it's always been a Manhattan. I would get June back out to Brooklyn. We'll go ahead and love that. Thank you for the wreck. So speaking of when we bumped into each other randomly on a street in Brooklyn, at that time, I recall, like you were when you realized you might not be able to continue playing. Yeah, I appreciate you not leaking information out. I held onto this for like two months. Some proprietary information about that. That was well before me sort of making a decision about my future. But yeah, I mean, the retirement thing was hard because I am so in love with the game of basketball and I'm so grateful for everything that has given me and what I've realized one of the most important things it gave me was friendships and relationships. And that's what I miss the most. And I miss that, I miss competing. And so the process of letting go of all of that. It's one thing to have the desire. I want to spend more time with my family. I want to see my kids grow up. I want to not be working on Christmas, but of course I'm working on Christmas this year. It's unavoidable. Luckily, we're in New York and I'm working the Knicks Philly game. I'm so excited and the whole family has come into the game. It's one thing to have that desire. It's another thing entirely to actually go through the process of letting go of something that's so such a big part of your identity and your life. And that was really hard. That was really hard. I'm sure it was. I know that there's this, you know, nobody goes to go out on their own terms, right? We use this cliche. Well, you didn't get to go out. Nobody almost nobody does. Was that the thing that you kind of had to overcome on some part because this was an injury thing, right? Were you you literally just could not get out there anymore as I recall. And it was kind of pushed you into this place. Yeah, if I had if I had won a championship, it would have been a much easier decision and a much easier internal monologue and process of saying I'm ready to hang it up and be done. So that factored into the process, the decision making as well. But yeah, my injury, I mean, I still haven't had surgery and I still can't really do very much anything that's active. I get to walk around a golf course. I can do that. But last year I played a couple of tennis did a couple tennis clinics in Brooklyn and couldn't walk for three days. And that was an hour of hitting balls. So, but again, I look at this, I can function, I need to shave my heel bone. I have an overgrown heel bone that's caused some tearing in my Achilles. I gotta clean up my Achilles. I gotta clean out the bursa sac. That's in between those two things. So at some point, I'll probably get it. It's just a matter of, I don't really feel like being in a boot for four months and going through a grueling rehab process, so I'll get it done. Eventually, eventually. Yeah. I don't blame you. How do you fulfill or how do you fill the competitive void, they're like, are you crushing your kids in uno or where's the competitive stuff go? I channel it in a couple different ways. Golf has been as filled a part of my soul that I didn't expect. And I had, I had dabbled in golf, but I'd gone years without playing. And as I was approaching my last year, I decided maybe golf can be the thing. And that to me is like the ultimate competitive thing because of your handicap and the course conditions and if you get a match going, maybe a little action on the match. I get some juice from that. And then the second career, that to me, there's not a tangible result at the end of the day, but there's certain ways to sort of channel that competitiveness and part of it is the podcast and building out an audience in a community and DraftKings has been such a great partner with us this year. It becomes sort of an extension of the community that we already had in place over the last two years. And then with the ESPN stuff, I get that performance anxiety from calling games. You're down on the court. You're next to the player. Some of them come over and say hi before the game or one of them kept talking to me the whole time. It was bizarre, like in the middle of the game. Like, dude, I got headsets on. I can't hear you with your saying to me. But.

"I am go follow electro lemon because that's a fun thing to do every single year. Okay, so let's talk about JJ Redick real quick. So JJ Redick in the middle of the night in the middle of my disaster. You're not alone this morning, but you're not yes. Yeah, JJ Redick announced on his podcast, the old man in the three. That he's retiring. And that's a bummer. I will say, like, JJ Redick is probably there was a time where I really liked duke a lot and rooted for them when I was like, you know, 12, 13, 14 years old. And he was certainly my favorite player in the basketball playing community. This was what you did you overlap with JJ Redick playing college basketball? I did because I distinctly remember our beat reporter, asking us, player of the year, who would you take Adam Morrison or JJ Redick and I voted for stuff on last week for you because of that had to be a minute man, but similarly, I love JJ Redick. The absolute best teammate in the world, Matthew. Just because that was my job, man. Energy giver. It's just fascinating to me the way JJ Redick has like the way his career has gone. I think it's one of the most fascinating basketball careers. In the last two decades, easily. Just because if you remember, and I'm sure you do, but like for the people out there, like JJ Redick was fucking hate it. Everybody hated JJ Redick in inconceivable like ways. He was like considered the biggest asshole playing basketball on Planet Earth. And like he even admitted in an interview to grantland, and they ran this like is the headline that oh yeah, I was sort of a prick. He played it dude. He leaned into it now. He knew. I mean, there's the totally leaned into pieces too about how he was harassed. They found his phone number. They call men, and I don't wish that on anybody, but he knew he was the villain he embraced it, he put on that deep blue. You put on that Jersey and you become the new Christian late Nur and later the Grayson Allen type the others. There's power of villain to see that comes with also the responsibility of wearing the duke thing and it's also pretty damn good. So when you're hitting that many shots and putting your hands up in terms of the crowd, you're going to hear it. And also which is kind of crazy. I'd say at the time the biggest villain can you imagine would have been like if he played a dude now and like the social media era, it would have been tenfold. I mean, we kind of saw it to a much smaller extent with Marshall Henderson. I felt there not the same stratosphere. It's just like JJ. It just seemed like he didn't miss. Oh yeah, so JJ Redick a was much better, and B, the microscope of playing for duke is so much more enormous. And Marshall Henderson was there was a point where I felt like Marshall Henderson was the biggest story in college basketball. And he played for old myths as like a 6 foot two gunner that was just like out there taking every three imaginable. JJ Redick did that. Oh yeah, and he averaged like 28 points a game and shot 45% from three and played for the biggest school in the country and was the top 5 team, like consistently over the course of his peak..

My question is how do you think stephen adams is going to help memphis now and do think he will ever get back to his best days. Twenty sixteen playoffs being a roller off his screens his best as replaying next to westbrook and i see the same qualities in mirant that can bring the best out of atoms. What are your thoughts to solve him. Yesterday see yeah yeah. Yeah he's a business yeah. he The most shocking thing. Let me just go ahead and say the most shocking thing you're going to hear going into the weekend okay for everybody out there. That's to this. You are never going to be more effective. Be careful though. Drive off the road. Stephen adams is twenty eight years old. It does blow my mind chris. He's still. yeah on believable. I see the guy. I can't fathom it twenty eight years old it's crazy to think about I do think that he can. I do think he can help. I think he could be a defensive quarterback which is why the grizzlies wanted to attain him in the first place right as defensive line backer yet. Oh i think he is a good. Possibly ideal fit with jaren jackson junior. Which is what they need their about. The side the bruiser at on and the perimeter wing. Big in jackson who. I think you'll see signed within the next week or so. Probably like he'll get his extension to like some of these other guys. Have maybe michael porter. Jr. dead verse some others. You get to start to see those before training camp But yeah i do think he could be a very good fit and offensively look. He's a guy that he he's he's put back guy he is finished pick and roll guys at the rim and he is offensive rebounding throwing it back out guy and yes. All of those can be extremely useful when you have a super dynamic point guard. He is one of those we talk about. You know the stars in their role players valla tunis. Who i love about is not a role player though. He's not just You know he is an offensive weapon. Who you've run plays for and you get the ball to and really affects things. Stephen adams is more et al. Clean stuff up. And i'm going to keep the ball moving type of guy which when you have jackson than lineup Assuming he turned into what people thought he was gonna turn in to die. Think it could be a very very good fit and could help adams dramatically to. Yeah i mean. I think this sort of this question makes me think about Two things a how a player salary impacts the way we talk about them. You know stephen adams were league minimum or like five million dollar player. I don't think people would be saying like. Oh stephen sucks he fell off. I think the conversation would be much different But also just how in recent years. We've seen some older players whether it's vince carter. Or whether it's dwight howard camello anthony We've seen them at some point. Either fall off and go into different types of roles or even just be totally doubted and say they've done they should be out of the league. They're washed up and then still manage to find a new role like mellow did like dwight. Howard did and steven adams. He's still getting paid. A heck of a lot of money you know. He's not necessarily quote unquote worth that. But in this new situation having more of a downhill pick and roll presence..

We'll have some stuff like bhai ticket you know comes with free top shot or whatever like some type of deals like that because i mean i think you probably see it with your son right like playing video games. The younger generations They we i mean. I'm still own thirty one. I had video games. You know grown too but like growing up with virtual like skins on games or different equipment. In there you know different gun. Scans or lasers on guns whatever it might be like. It might cost like one hundred points in the game. The equivalent of five bucks ten bucks whatever. The metric is People really like that stuff. And i think i think with. Nfc's we'll see some of these nfc's gonna like people spend a million dollars on some of this stuff. Some of it's going to go to zero sum. That's going up to five million over the course of next ten fifteen twenty years but i think with. Nfc's the real potential would. Those is as we integrate. Vr virtual reality in a are augmented reality into what we do as people society as there's those things get more popular the potential within ts is going to grow. That's that's what i would think and expect but We'll see we'll see how this develops though every time. Top shock comes up on twitter or people ask question. How did you get into it. We get tagged in a million different tweets. Yeah see it's always cool all the time because people brought it up so i'm just here to tell you and you don't have to divulge what you've done. I'm going to tell you that. I did talk about this a long time ago. when i first got on it i know a lot of you did get in on it. Some of you were able to flip. Some of you got bad because it went spiked up and then it went down. Big whatever i have all of mine still. I never sold anything. So i just kept them because to me was like all right. Let's see where this goes. Either your believer or you're not in my opinion right. I wasn't doing it. And i was never doing it to make a quick buck on the stuff because lord knows i could have made a quick buck and at that point like look my account got to this insane level and mid february when i was yeah at times. Eight times ten win win win the snow when there is nothing out there right. The only thing that was out there was a stuff i own. I mean i will tell you. I sold it got so goofy. I sold an alec burks for thirty. Five bucks malik. Burks.

Detroit Pistons Sign Luka Garza
"Luke garza could actually become a real. Nba player that guy that one collegiate player of the year and yet nobody wanted and is drafted in the nba draft What ended up with twenty and fourteen or something. Last night he was. He was outstanding Again he has dow signed a two way deal. So luger's who does nobody been. It's he'll end up getting four The pistons but luca garza signed a two two way deal. He of course had a historic collegiate career at iowa. But he was you know by all accounts slow-footed big played near around the basket and so was of no use to people in the nba. And yet he made threes. He put up to huge double doubles and in their finale. Last night ends it with twenty one point and fifteen rebounds and got himself a two way contract so the luka garza dream is still alive after getting selected fifty second in the nba draft. He was good and he's fun. You know he's a real throwback but I i love the idea of becoming you know. Just the there's i went back and looked kevin. There's never been a guy like you by where this has happened work. I becomes the naismith player of the year in college basketball. Nobody wants him now. Not all of them have panned out. I e like the tyler hands boroughs but tolerance was like a lottery pick. I think frank mason might be the lowest and he was like at the beginning of the second round nobody. There's not even close to being selected. Fiftieth or fifty. Second whatever you've picked.

"To add Justice Winslow for most of the taxpayer mid-level exception. So I think the Clippers have done a pretty good job here, rebuilding their depth BJ. Boston has looked really good in summer league. We're starting. I think kind of see why am I? Yeah, this guy there's a reason why people thought he might be a first-round pick him. Why the Clippers feel comfortable, giving him a whole bunch of guaranteed money in the second round late in the second round. To a guy who was back in the fifties. There are other rookie. Jason Preston, got a nice contract. So I think the Clippers have done a good job here. Rebounding from what could have been a rough offseason. I may have more or less taking care of business and they've got some trade Assets Now. Moving forward. You got Keon Johnson on rookie-scale Deal. You've got Luke Kennard that you could put into a contract, Patrick beverley's, home. Hiring and 14.3 million. So they're in a position now where I think they could do some things if they get in the season and realize are we need some help before Kawaii gets back if he does get back to this page. Yeah, exactly. And I think that they're positioning will be a factor there. You know, if the Clippers are on the outside looking in to the plants, which I know project but if they were then they're probably not going to rush him back much. You're not going to see him really pushed to come back, but it's just a spot where they can really make a run, then you could see them come back potentially and, and really make an impact. Give them a nice boost heading into the playoffs, you know, the Clippers looked, I mean, surprisingly and to their credit dangerous, even without Kawhi, Leonard in the playoffs, they were, they were very, very good and and so I could see where they could still find themselves very much in the mix and the west and then get Kauai back and then they could be off and running. But let's, let's move onto. We Got Something official from one of the free agents that's out there. It's been connected to a lot of teams pretty much any team. That's, that's looking for shooting, which is a lot of teams wage. Right in the offseason have been looking for shooting and there's been a lot of talk about JJ Redick. And of course, you know, you think of shooting JJ Redick is one of the first names that to pop up and on his podcast the other day. JJ, made it official announced that he will not be signing with the team this offseason instead. He's going to wait, said he will not be in training camp with any team and said, he's going to wait a few months and then get into the season and then decide where he wants to go. What do you think about that strategy? From the veteran guard, you know, he's going to try to latch on somewhere to win a championship, but waiting things out until the middle of the Season before he commits. Yeah, I think it's smart. I think if New York or Brooklyn was sitting there to give him a fully guaranteed contract, right now, he'd probably take it, but neither one of those teams is there, but with that way, they don't have the ability to even do that. I maybe the next could get there at have to figure out after cuz they're still pending a couple official signings with 48 Burks and Rose bath. But I think if you're JJ Redick, yeah, wait spend the time with your family..

Uber, Lyft Woo Drivers as Prices Soar
"Maybe you've had this experience. You're running late to meet a friend or maybe you're headed to the airport. You've got no time to get on public transportation. And when you open up your favorite ride hailing app. Boom prices are surging. Well that's the situation facing more and more people. These days uber and lift prices for the second quarter are estimated to be seventy nine percent higher than they were during the same period. Twenty nineteen before the start of the pandemic according to fair tracker grit wise. so why are prices so high. And what does it mean for passengers drivers and the ride hailing companies themselves. Joining us to discuss is tech reporter. Redick arana high predica. Thanks for joining us. Thanks for having me on the show so there are a couple of different angles that we can look at this from. Let's start with the passengers. What differences are passenger seeing when they use the ride. Hail apps well. Zoe fares are at an all time high right now. So what passengers are seeing. Is you know skyrocketing fares just to go from your home to maybe your office As people returned to work they're taking to social media to say. My uber ride now costs me five times as much as i used to pay before the pandemic they're also seeing wait times go up so the landscape has absolutely changed for passengers as well. And why is that. Why are prices so high right now. Well the companies are facing a massive shortage of drivers. So what's happening is more and more writers are coming back to. The roads and a large pool of writers are competing for a limited pool of drivers because not as many have returned to keep pace with demand. So what's that doing is that it's pushing the prices of those rides

"We have on the planet. Possibly the two best really in simmons a table. And that's what you're charged with dealing with. You did that video and some of those plays some of the breakdowns that you did it. Just it shows e just can carve up a defense. You know what is the. What's the counterpunch. Is there a counter punch that you think atlantic can throw to this with ben simmons and matisse stibal you know it's funny because i'm not sure there is a counterpunch against these now. They're just a high level defensive players. They're elite defensive players. I do look forward to seeing if we do see atlanta. Switch up their lineups. You mentioned how capellas getting beat up a little bit by embiid which is no. Knock on capella great defensive player. But he does that to everybody. It's just who am beat is. I wonder if we'll see atlanta. Try a little bit of small ball with john collins at the five or even gallon aria the five. If they wanna go really small outspacing spread it out. You know force the sixers to switch all screens. I'm curious to see if we'll see a wrinkle like that maybe that can help spring trae looser. Get him some easier matchups after after switch because in the way in which they are currently constructed I'm not so sure that a lot will change in terms of the matchups that you get on trae young well and so we just have to go to work on those guys. Watch the film and find some weak spots but there's not many of them for ben simmons mortiz title. I actually kind of think of it. Like i do with the with the old curry situation right when you could when when you could grind that thing down and you could make them play half court basketball. It was your best chance because now you can keep a guy chasing him everywhere trying to stay attached to. Its when they get stops and that warriors team was so great defensively that they did get those stops and now they got draymond or dollar. Whoever catching it off the board and they would just take off and now you're in space and now you're cross matching and it's whole ages. It i kind of feel like trays. Chance at being unbelievable again. Is that it actually weirdly the atlanta defense which is can you get enough stops and get out in space because if you're going to have to play half core basketball against that crap i mean good you can't you can't you're not gonna put up a huge number when you're especially because you gotta have the ball time like with the curry didn't have to have the ball at the time he could just run around. And that's that's the thing chris that like. I hit that note late in the video right. The next step for trae young is becoming more effective away from the ball doesn't have the ball in his hands when he's not running pick and roll when he's bringing up the floor when he's on isolating right but when he's off the ball if trae young can translate his shooting off the dribble from logo range from right at the three point line and to be able to write race around the screen and shoot off to catch or to relocate off ball and come up a little rub screen and get himself open if trade can do that and adds a whole new dimension about the way in which you need to defend him and to me..

"He played really good defense. All game had that stretch earlier in the game when he hit like a three or four floaters overbrook lopez a row. He played good. Defense made smart passes and then just in the last minute had some big time. Mistakes that change the way we talked about his performance but it sure it certainly took some of the heat off joe harris with his one for seven from three one eleven from the field. The nets you know. I still think they're going to win the series and my perspective and change there. But you can't rule out milwaukee figuring stuff out with their size and especially because you saw down that stretch when it mattered. Most katie got to the elbow twice in a row unstoppable and then i mean unbelievable defense by. Pj tucker on the three. That durant hit. I mean that was one of those moments where there is nothing you can do nothing. He he got over that screen and was still. I mean no airspace. And if he can make that then. That's a tip your cap stuff. Pizza tucker was fighting he was fighting for it and points regard to come by the brown. He's not gonna sleep well tonight because you gotta get that and by the way the inbounds pass sucks so bad. That should get beat up right. I mean th there inbounded the ball you should be able to end around the ball without everybody falling all over themselves trying to save it from out about. It was all scrambled mess after that. You can't really run your play when at the beginning it all becomes a scrambled mess where you're just trying to save the ball from going out of bounds now you're now you're discombobulated and you're just like you don't know clocks score where everybody is on the court. I mean it all gets screwed up as soon that inbounds pass goes awry But i i gotta give look. I gotta give chris middleton is perhaps a slammed them after those first two games his miserable. He's had a lot of downplay off moments over the course of the last couple of years but he showed up. Shoot for this one. The rebounding was huge to fifteen. I think fifteen rebounds out of him and the other thirty me up near the thirty. Five points I can't get it out of my head. Would bill on russillo. We're talking about this topic. I guess it was on whatever their monday. Pod or sunday that they do and they got the middle the subject. It's all of it. Since i heard the talk about this. Because they couldn't figure out what quarterback to compare them to put the middleton.

"You gave zero to tonight. A of minutes. So he's one minute right. It's like what are you and who do you want to play. You looked at this matchup. You had a game to analyze this and then you came back in the second game and you still don't know who you are and you can tell the stuff like the ingles three happens because you're not as they say on a string defensively. The communication level isn't there and there's not the th the group that you're used to playing with. I went and looked it up just to see 'cause sometimes the numbers don't match your eyeballs. I'm well aware of that right. But in this particular case they do in the playoffs. So far the lineup. That started the game tonight. Which was jackson morris leonard. George and sue bought right so far in the playoffs. That is third most used Lineup i believe they have scored at a pace of ninety four points per one hundred possessions they have given up one hundred twelve for a minus eighteen net rating. You call small sample size if you want. But your eyes tell you what why. Why are you doing that against this team. Especially when they've got a center that runs away from the basket and set screen great screens. He'll get you open and he gets donovan. mitchell open. who could just walk into threes. I mean this is like base level stuff and it's like all right. Are you committed any wasn't committed to that. What do you play. You played less than fifteen minutes tonight. Like i don't understand. That is the goofiest team because they have the players. And maybe he'll figure it out as he did in the dallas series right. Isn't that just the thing. Though chris that for the clippers last round the first two games was a big mess. You didn't know it was like he was throwing darts trying to figure out what worked and then they stumbled upon something. That was more effective. Maybe we'll see that again. The series maybe we will however i would say this and this is a bad thing for the clippers. The utah jazz are much better team than the dallas mavericks best player on both of those teams. Luca is one of the best players in the league but the in the quality of the jazz roster was really apparent in tonight's game. They are a tough problem to solve. This team gets firing on offense. I know they hit over fifty percent of their. Three's twenty of thirty nine on the night. It's not like they haven't done this before they've done a lot to season. They were the number one shooting team and the enemy of this season. They lead the nba in transition. Threes like they are a dominant shooting team and they can hit threes off the dribble. You mentioned that ingles three when he was left wide open. We saw mitchell hit tons of contested. Threes off the dribble throughout the entire season. And this game. Six of twelve from three. This team is tough to stop and really tough the score against because because of rudy go bear in the player that he is in the defensive end of the floor of the deterrent that he is around the rim that allows those wing defenders to stay close to home on pick and rolls not after help off as much it allows boy on bogdonovich..

"I'm just. I'm just listening some son's name. Big big time names either. Well then you need. You need guys when you're going up when the competition gets to this level right you need to guys. You should have will barton and jamal. Murray your starters. No kidding you'd rather have those guys but you're not giving enough credit to really do. I really don't well. I mean monte morris would he would have started games if he was you know pretending he is which is not what you look. Portland is fantasy land. That was real stuff last night when you're playing against when you're playing against the sons and look terry stotts. He didn't have his job anymore after what happened. What was what was with those meal. O'shea comments come across twitter saying it wasn't because the roster that our defense was bad and all that i texted with a couple of executives about that and they're like four sure makes head coaching job appealing. When the gm is throwing the coach under the bus cena was it wasn't about the roster. That's the reciting. The conversation he had with the owner pretty much. Yeah no i mean i. I was thinking about this. Chris like i'm sure he was just selling like his side of things. I mean it's pretty obvious. Part of it was the roster right. You're twenty ninth ranked in defense. That's not all coaching. You don't have a short roll option and the pick and roll for dame like does with steph curry or bruce frown for that matter with the nets and so forth. So there's a lot of situations where guys have short roller. There's a lot of missing pieces in that portland. Ross when i was thinking about. Was this chris. If you're neil o'shea let's say you're buying what you're selling. Let's say you really believe that it wasn't the roster if you're niilo say what do you think could have been done differently. Is it like playing a little more often. A big rangy young wing defender. Is it playing derek jones. More often if they gave the mid level too. I love to know if he buys what he's selling. What does he think could have been different with the roster. I wanted to be the that collins out in his wheelchair. Sit in front of the basket. I hope zack hans and get back. Play and play healthy. He hasn't been able to.

"That's what they're doing. They are seeking out this stuff. And whatever your weak link is we are going to seek it out and we are going to blast with it and then they just got the damn bucks so rattled that they're trying to make ten point shots and there is not. That's why you see yannis going up jack and some crap and middleton's been horrendous. Just rent truly horrible truly rent. I mean he's he's legitimately getting played by mike james. Yeah and it's a lot it's like are we going to like jaanus. This has got to be amazing for them. And the other thing is they've got to play as a collective they have daylight. Let that thing into the okay. You guys are individually. Spectacular individually spectacular. And it's like that's not your game. There's not anybody on that team this complaint on the middleton front which is like janas should be able to. Just throw him the ball. Go get me a bucket. But he's now scared to go to the free throw line and it's like the other guys they're not a team of i throw it to you. Go get me a bucket and the other team probably has what two of the three or four guys in the world at that and then they've got another winds on the dam bench that might be the best of the three of them at just they go get me a bucket guys and and i'll be damned if they don't pass the ball they pass the ball like crazy. The net do l'aimable it is. It's it's gorgeous. It really really unbelievable. They can toggle between ice heavy ice. Oh ball with beautiful ball. Movement like spurs style seven seconds or less sons style. You can see the influence there and it is gorgeous to watch. And i think that's a real credit to the way in which this roster was constructed. A guy like bruce brown who until the season plays point guard point guard and now he's screening and short rolling and he's picking apart defense and he scoring at the rim off roles. It's the selfishness of like the joe. Harris landry shamet cutting and moving off ball. It's blake griffin adapting and embracing being a role player everybody on this roster including kyrie in katie would their high iq's and their ability to move the ball and find the open guy. It's remarkable and like that's the tough part about this team if you're getting them into an iso you're dead ever getting him into a picket role. You're dead if they're able to whip the ball around the floor you're dead. There's no answers for this. Mets offense you you have to like. It's such a cliche thing to say. You have to outscore them on offense. You have to get rolling so for the bucks janos. Step up be big time. Be the size player. You are be tough. Try to attack the rim draw fouls create offense rebound opportunities. Because if you're taking these pull up threes in these pull up. Mid range jumpers. Steve dash might have his arms folded on the sideline the entire game or his hands in his pocket but he is smiling very big cheek to cheek when you take a jump shot if the opposing coaches smile and if he's cheese when you take a jumper. You shouldn't do that so for jaanus you've got to change the way you're playing midseries right here. In addition to all other stuff we've talked about and like that is the thing about brooklyn that is that.

"Playoff games rewind. Even a year before that replacing gordon hayward yeah for boston you know the face of the franchise leaving suddenly and then mitchell gets drafted at that situation and is asked to be the guys thrown into the fire. He's inefficient. He's working through it and all those trials and tribulations those losses and those hits he's taken have all allowed him again experience and wraps and in big games against tough defenses game planning for him and it led him to become a player. We saw in the bubble player. We saw this entire season. And we're about to see what he can become in this postseason because clippers team at some point. You've got to think they're gonna stick hawaii on them right. They try some point they did. They did in the fourth and he had a pull a moves where he got there and then they just switched to easy you know. They said that last year they did that last year with the you know the huge luca shot you remember when we talked about that a lot. It's like why are you just letting this happen. And they just let the switch happen. And that's how he ends up with canard because they actually did have on him at the top and then they've ransom screened and he just passed them off to canard meat to the lions and other thing about why we gotta start talking about him. Differently is putting the team on his back. Same way and that you can see the tangible you know. We always talk about the things that don't show up at a box score this guy. When they had him miked up tonight that was a moment and they may never have him might up again and they may never be allowed to run but for all that we complain about how we never really glean anything you know. It's a huddle and it's nate mcmillan saying we've got to defend you know and it's like okay great. That was cool but like that always have the worst coach clips inciteful braun play guys. We gotta get good shot at the average so so the the one clip of signed the most basic possible thing right whereas tonight we get that clip of mitchell. Where he's on the mike and he's talking to those guys and you could see he's all fired up and he's like look to fourth quarter. They just played a game seven two days ago. If we can make him quit here. They're going to get ready for game two and i was. I love all the smoke. Well and he knows he's up. He knows he's mic'ed up you know when he saying that and also don't think they're gonna show maybe not that i was probably borderline. I'm glad they showed it i think. Tnt stuff like that. I think also say this. I think teams player should also be okay with showing some more. What's wrong with a little bit of trash talk. It's great it makes it more exciting for people watch more exciting for people watching it means more people are going to start on and watch games live data what i mean look especially in the day and age of reality. Tv which is real people are fake reality tv. That was as real as it gets. You're really getting to hear what a star player is sagging to his teammates at a time out when he's trying to get them amped up to go out there for the fourth quarter and i'll be damned. He came out of that locker room in the second half immediately had like ten or eleven points and then he did it again in the fourth quarter like joe just get on my back and he had the bowl every possession..

Be happy to have john on my team though debate and his greatness his greatness i can't i can't wait till the next when i did do my. Mvp vote bear top five. He was on my long twelve. Fifteen guys you to turn that in a long time ago long time ago. Yeah yeah yeah you at yokich like everybody else right yeah. He should be unanimous. I don't think he will be. They'll be they'll be guys out there. Just what not but him the drummer. Maybe i'll say this. I know that you have expressed that. You are higher on some of his supporting cast. That i am but he did nothing to hurt his case in the first round of the playoffs right like if anybody was out there man that dude gm vp. Did you just watch that like he just he. He's lost he's lost his starting line-up like twice this season. he's playing. I went and looked up when when they played the sons and there's literally not one player from his starting line-up in january and he's still murdering everybody and he just he probably just blew up the frigging blazers seriously. The that was the one thing. Blew it up those the one thing. I argued with nick about when he was arguing for chris. Paul talking about changing the culture. The thing with yokich is the culture. He's been the culture for years. He might not have brought the culture to phoenix chris. Paul did with phoenix. But he's been the culture and defense in denver and defined who they are and mean you see that right now in the post with just dominance nick. Right voted tom brady. Nfl mvp changing the culture of the box. Pretty dombi alway. No he didn't to saint dane's they shot for one hundred years. Tom brady went there and they're good. Chris thank you for saying good things about thomas thirty. Let's give tom brady the mvp last year. Generally the same thing that i forgot to do they forget i forget it now. Do culture changes for. Mvp that's what we have to do. Then i see today that the bucks are like the first team ever to bring back all twenty two starters. That's wild that's a crazy stat. It's tom brady culture. He called them all parents in the late. Incredible at you know what he did. He call them all personally. Said you're asking going nowhere. You take what they offer. "Go with dj. We see nash goes to the sidelines as dj. You're in. that's a win for the nets of us. That's a win for the box if that happens. So that's the benefit. The way your buddy john horse and the bucks have built this roster out where they have lineup. Flexibility booting holes has options with the way he can dictate the in which they're gonna play and that's me gives them an edge in that sense that's why the nets it was important. That's why they chase drummond. Didn't get them. that's why they signed aldridge. Unfortunately he had to retire. That's why and that was so important for them. And they lacking that to be an issue but could they go with mitt claxton former for more minutes. He is not a big bruising guy but he's big and he's long he's lean but he's long. I wonder if we'll see nick and get unleash for more than like eighteen minutes and stay out of foul trouble. And he's a stay on the floor and all that but he on paper could be the x factor for the net side of things. Where if they do have to go with size. Claxton could play a very very very important role for brooklyn in the series. I like dude. Sounds go good. If they don't they might just relent and be like you know what the hell with the switching thing we're going back to the drop coverage thing and look protect the rim brooke bike. If you wanna hit fifty threes go go ahead. I'm not coming out there. Go ahead blake shot. It's to be it's not gonna be blake shooting those threes though. It's not saying whoever is the five you know saying he's shooting through stats or career kevin durant and use them as the screener constantly. Make you an enable you to not do that. I can't wait to see how milwaukee defense to open this game. That i'm so i have so looking forward to seeing what they do. Yeah that was that. That is a look. We're going to have some really good series. And i hope that we get at least. I hope i kind. The clippers dallas then goes to a game seven just so we get that. We're not getting it. We're not going to get it in the denver portland series anymore. And i guess that's our only chance right. We only got one chance at a game. Seven dow it anything Because everything else is pretty Is all wrapped up. This has been very good. So far. And the phoenix suns have eliminated the la lakers. Who would have ever guessed it. "Because yoke ends that series averaging thirty five and ten four naveh cyst and he splits her fifty three percent from the field forty three percent from three ninety two percent from the line. Unbelievable i. it's tough if you're if you're terry starts you look at the bench and as cantors nice guy. But he's a horrible defender and like with with the blazers that you just mentioned in a test of whether he's a nice guy either. I guess to that. He's a smiley guy. We can say that at least social miles. But i think i've heard are really sweet guy. These scumbag on but the following up on the staff. That you've just mentioned chris in the series. I the nuggets with dean on the court. The blazers outscored the nuggets by thirteen points for one or possession say they third plus thirteen with dame without nurkic a minus seven. She so like even with damon the court without nurk their defense is just getting crushed. And that's the difference there. They were still putting up dockets regardless of who is on the court with dame as you'd expect but defensively they had a one thirteen defensive rating with dame in nurkic that plummeted to one twenty eight with dame and without narc like had have merkich out there to have any shot. And if you're a blazers fan. I tweeted this out earlier tonight. Oh we saw we. I needed that bit in the draft. Don't tell a lot about five minutes. I'm serious tighten up. I'd found a photo minutes before the tweet went out. Google to find this photo of terry stotts. Just terry stotts. No you didn't say you really database. Not google image database. Yeah but you didn't say terry stotts sad or terry. I know that photos scam kerm photo current. Yeah it's a very up-to-date. 'cause when i go there was only photos of him in a suit. I like. That's just over suits anymore. Like as tweet it though it is fitting the way the blazers lost because they blew a fourteen point lead that they had middle third quarter fourteen point lead and at home and the reason why they blew. It was the reason why i know. Trust in his team all season long their defense stinks twenty ninth ranked during the regular season. It's a horrible defense. I'm sorry and on offense. I like they lack imagination. Around dame team isn't going. They have nothing if theme is that fourth quarter at second half he was. I mean the second half you wonder if it was and look. The nuggets played in that game too but it was a double overtime game that he had fifty five ten right. The whole third quarter. Dan caplis rest of the startled fourth. I was tired because he had his team on his back. The whole season they had so many credit to damian lillard like sometimes with people who say why does damien any blame dame does deserve some blame for being a lacklustre defensive player but he is so magnificent offensively who cares on the others to make up for who he had naturally is as a smaller point guard on defense. He carried this team to the playoffs. He'd carried the was mccullum. Got off to a great start and suddenly he was out other guys. Were in and out of the lineup..

"Are you doing our you letting him on an island. Get to that step back. Well let's go by the way that stat back. Wow like the footwork. In the balance in the body control and the touch in the guts to hit that shot in that moment damian lowered what just saw fifty five points. On seventeen of twenty four shooting is one of the greatest offensive performances. I'll ever see my entire lifetime. One of the greatest clutch performances that we've seen in sports i can't think of many great clutch performances and a loss like a level with the shot making the he had just it sad. Because this portland team. This is what i've been hammer. And since before the season like this. Is i get blazers. Fans being pissed at me for saying they were comically overrated before the year totally understand. Tonight's game is why you have dame go off for fifty five win an all time performance a game that's going to be replayed over and over for years to come because it was that great and your team goes to for nineteen in overtime. Your team can't get stops down the stretch. Your team doesn't have enough support behind him. Your team can only rely on. Ns kanter the guy who became a mean because his head coach said on the bench. Can't play kanter. I just. I look at the rest of this roster. Cj mccollum going seven for twenty two twenty two stepping out of bounds late in the game. I look at this team. And it's like damian. Lillard deserves better. He just does like you. Can't you can't bet against dame count team with him because of how specialty he is. But it's just unfortunate that against the team just lost their second best player to a little over a month ago that they're down on a series against him not pummeling them. Damian lillard deserves better than the supporting cast. So he has. I am just telling you this as a friend i would. I would slow down just a little bit only because of the way. This is all playing out. It's not because they couldn't gallery though because look they're going to. I think they will win. Game six that's my opinion could win the whole series seven. All bets are off. And then it's feeding into and we're gonna get to all of these guys just much different situations all around we if we looked up at either of these teams are in the western conference finals shocking. Surprise not a shocker. And it doesn't change my perspective that the supporting cast things will be better and maybe look silly in the end. But i'll tell you what if they go far to go to the west finals if they even go to the nba finals. It's because of the union lillard. There's some there's no question about that. I mean look. There's a lot of Rough supporting cast around there. That are being pretty exposed by one player being out of the lineup. And i will give portland credit because they have had big injuries the last couple of years and have been able to withstand them And now look that was just. There's only there's only been two fifty point ten three pointer performances.

Redick: Pels, Griffin didn't honor word with trade
"Jj redick longtime veteran fifteen years in the leak. Good player not great good. Though he requested a trade from new orleans pelicans in november and asked them to send them somewhere one he was up. You know not upset but hey drew's gone through holiday. That was a big part of why i came here. And you know. I would like to be close to my family in brooklyn close enough where i can go see him on off days things like that. They told him. Bet you got it. And of course they trade him to dallas so he's upset because he says they didn't keep their word. Here's jj reading on his own podcast. My understanding all along was that. I was going to get a buy out. And if i was going to be traded it was going to be to a team in the northeast where i was closer to home and i'd be able to see my family for the last two or three months of the season obvious that didn't happen. I don't think you're gonna get honesty from that front office. Just objectively speaking. I don't that's not an opinion. i just don't think you're going to get that. But i think i was a little naive in thinking that because i was in year fifteen and you know i had at least attempt to do things right throughout my career and i honored my end of the bargain but in terms of this front office. Yeah i mean. It's it's not something where i would expect. Certainly the agents that that worked on this with me to ever to ever trust that front office again.

Danny Green Lights Up Los Angeles Lakers For 28, Sixers Win 109-101
"Shock down to six cross sports. Stott sixers danny. Green choir for three quarters go daddy. Great knocked down his eighty three in the game. The sixers were kind of squandering. The possession for a moment finally bikes to the corner and danny green. With what else corner pre. That's what it sounded like. Ninety seven five the fanatic as the sixers beat the lakers. Nine one zero. One the lakers. Just keep taking a elle's right now. No lebron no ad. But the sixers win was propelled by danny green eight. Three pointers digi is the second player in sixers history to make eight threes in multiple games joining jj redick before the game. What's the Difference Between Aspirin, Ibuprofen, and Acetaminophen?
"Rain stuff lauren vocab here the average headache backache often sends people reaching Willy Nilly for the nearest bottle of over over the counter pain reliever but for best results. It's smart to match the particular problem with the particular pill. That's because the wide variety of pain relievers known in medical circles as analgesics available today are each effective at different problems and come with different risks. There are two categories of pain pills suitable for home use this non steroidal anti inflammatory drugs more commonly referred to as m saids end. Acetaminophen both are considered anti redick's which means that they can can reduce fevers. Most people know Acetaminophen better by the popular brand name Tylenol but there are other brands as well like fever all the category Korea is broader things like aspirin ibuprofen and Naproxen all fall under the umbrella. There are others but these three are some of the most widely used each each has its own range of brand name versions so which one is best to use it all depends on what you're taking it for Acetaminophen often sold under the brand name Tylenol was approved by the US Food and Drug Administration in Nineteen fifty one but how it works still not clearly understood but we do know a bit about what it does we spoke by email pharmacist Terry Thompson Dr Pharmacy and VP of Clinical Services at innovation compounding. She said Acetaminophen does not decrease inflammation but works in the hypothetical to reduce fever and it may work peripherally to block the generation of pain. It's best taken to reduce news fever or symptoms of pain from flu like illnesses headaches arthritis and menstrual cramps but note it will only mask the pain without treating any underlying inflammation inflammation problems that caused some of these symptoms. You should not take acetaminophen while consuming alcohol it can be hard on the liver. Even when you're stone cold sober and much much worse when consuming alcohol most serious liver problems have been reported following large doses the highest amounts considered safe is three thousand two hundred and fifty milligrams per per day or ten regular strength tablets however there have been instances when liver damage occurs after medicating with moderate or even small doses over a long period of time cinnamon offense should be taken carefully in conjunction with other medications as many headache and cold meds like Nyquil already has been in them. This can lead to accidental overdoses anyone taking one of these extras should carefully read labels follow dosing instructions to the letter. It's considered safe enough to take by just about anyone anyone but occasionally side effects are experienced most often those are nausea rash and headache which is pretty ironic considering that that's why many people take it in the first place is so that's CNN now. Let's talk about these are sold under brand names like Bayer advil Motrin and leave you know how often doesn't do a darn thing to reduce inflammation well and sets pick up that dropped ball and run all the way into the end zone with it short for non steroidal title. Anti inflammatory drugs the category of end says include a variety of analgesics like aspirin one brand name being bear ibuprofen such as advil Motrin and Naproxen oxen like aleve although there's some variation by particular type and says in general work by blocking the production of chemicals called prostaglandins which encouraged fever a pain and inflammation these effects can be useful in promoting blood flow to an injured area end in telling you to watch out and not further hurt and injured area but there's is a point which it's like dude body. I know I shouldn't walk on that foot. You can stop telling me so hard and said go out of their way to denote non-steroidal in the the name because steroids can also reduce inflammation but the way steroids work by depressing me. Immune system is a major distinction. So when did you take 'em Ed's Thompson said those with inflammatory conditions such as osteoarthritis rheumatoid arthritis menstrual pain or muscular pain would benefit from an end said the proximate intends to work longer in the body about two times longer so those with gout or more chronic pain conditions may see more pain relief from using naproxen verses ibuprofen however ibuprofen provides quicker pain relief than naproxen end is less likely to cause an upset stomach so might be more appropriate for strong and sudden pain have hangover skip these Dominican in favor of An said although nothing short of time rest and lots of hydration can completely cure a hangover the anti inflammatory Tori properties that end says boast are believed to be helpful however taking an end set on an upset stomach so common with hangovers can make the discomfort worse so don't take it on an empty stomach will ever but especially in the case of hangovers aspirin has long been used as a daily supplement of sorts for people at risk of heart attack and stroke because it inhibits potentially tragic blood clotting for roughly four to seven days one important caveat however is that people consuming aspirin for that purpose should should use a lower dosage under three hundred and twenty five milligrams per day than those using it for pain relief purposes. Thompson says that aspirin is more commonly used nowadays for inhibiting opening blood clotting then for relieving pain due to intestinal bleeding risks which brings us to when not to take them women who are pregnant or trying to become come pregnant are typically advised to avoid use of because they're believed to cause fertility issues early miscarriage and even birth defects in particular they should not be taken in the third trimester trimester because they could cause premature closure of a particular blood vessel in a developing baby people with gastrointestinal problems might also steer clear of and said use negative active gastrointestinal side effects like ulcers or intestinal bleeding can occur because as we said Prostaglandins aren't all bad prostaglandins protect the stomach lining and help with blood-clotting when those functions are inhibited the risk of bleeding and ulcers goes way up. Thompson said although this is more likely in those who take large doses for for long periods of time patients often turn to a seat from leads for pain relief since it does not cause intestinal issues still confused about which to take the talk to your doctor or the pharmacist local pharmacy. They'll be able to make a recommendation and point you towards the correct product.
