Explaining Threshold Concepts in Physical Education

"Spoke. That's just come out chamber alderson bryant threshold concepts in physical education design thinking approach. Now it may be that people listening. Don't know what some of those things are yet and we will come to that but first of all. How was it that the three of you came to collaborate on this book was the story behind it. Okay tom so i guess if i take you back a couple of years prosise really started. When funeral was applauded does student examiner for sporting p. program in the poorest folks in health sciences on. I believe it was really the first time i visited as an external examiner. Three arrests went for the coffee down. Cardiff pay before her return. Flight home it was really that conversation. Not coffee was where the magic or the seed for this book was prompted. I vividly remember the discussion that we were in the world to right within our own discipline. I think in particular some of the key critical questions we were asking each other centered around as a discipline of physical education. We clear what we were trying to achieve where we try to overclaim what we trying to do achieve was really possible for children and young people to achieve before they left school. So i guess the the most important question pursue our skin to establish with our listeners now is is this idea of threshold concepts and what. That's all about what is a threshold concept and why they so valuable to physical education so any discipline that we think about there are disciplined because they have these things called thresholds concepts. That's the only reason they're ever called a discipline. And i know that annan. Her previous answer mentioned as we believe that he was a disciplined or actually redick wondering about that ourselves. Is that actually the case. So if i give you some examples of threshold concepts first of all tonight on package little bit for you if we look at particular disciplines so for example in maths at threshold current set is an complex numbers if we look at design. Ambiguity is a concept. You have to grasp if you're a designer if you don't grasp what you can't call yourself a designer in law its presence. It's opportunity cost in economics. It's entropy maybe in physics so every discipline you can caboche if you were to lead the miles on the table. Every discipline that we know of has these threshold concepts and weirdly. We couldn't actually claim that for physical education. We couldn't literally sit down and go boom. That's what he eagles and we found that often. That was a problem because we felt that the reason of our subject area is often not valued is because we don't have these we haven't called the mouse definitively physical education offers. These are these threshold concepts so threshold concepts when their masters. They enabled students to look at problems in completely new ways. Antitank practice and talk in a manner of scholars of that discipline and the reason called threshold. Concepts is because you literally cross thresholds when you learned and you can never unlearn them. An maybe from maybe the fact that we're involved in movement riding a bike you never forget how to ride a bike so once you've learned tisch. It's not something that you can ever unlearn it's there it's embodied etc so quadruple would be described as admire land. Who don an awful lot of work in this area. It's like a portal so opens up a new and previously inaccessible way of thinking about something and it represents a transformed way of understanding or interpreting our viewing something and without that the learner cannot progress in that particular discipline or ever call themselves a scholar at that discipline.

"Well kelly clarkson is now talking about how she is getting through her divorce from black socks during an interview with fran. Drescher on the kelly clarkson show france said. She renovated her entire house after her divorce. Because she wanted it to feel more peaceful while kelly could totally relate it. It's like you were in my last therapy session. Literally not only like redick. God new house very white and clean and it's the same reasoning and i also redid my office here. I looked at kevin. But i was like. Please help me make this make sense out. Like i need to feel queer. Click clinton's and just wanted to feel happy that make me feel really good Alley what do you think about redecorating. I mean i think there is nothing like design therapy especially out of a relationship where you're walking around. You're still in that same space everywhere you turn. You know opening a cabinet making them around a corner like oh there's where we had a kiss or a hug or whatever i think yeah clean it out move on freshening up one hundred percent good idea.

He's talking to Damien Lillard about life inside the NBA bubble and isolated environment at Disneyworld, where the N BA is playing all its games. What are your early impressions of playing in the bubble? I was like, man, I don't know how it is. Don't work. I don't know who's going to show up interested who are being shaped like what is it going to be like? So

"With like it's like the singular focus sometimes like an interview like to be asked about Duke. And that's still like a little weird to me. It's a different era. I just a lifetime ago. I think it's weird too especially because you've had this. Nba Career where you literally have made the playoffs every year so if you would play in the NBA for like two years and kind of didn't work out. For whatever reason I would it would make sense but does this a lot of there's a lot to talk about. Nba Wise and so it seems like it's a weird crutch that people fall back on but it also shows you the power and like the fame the fame from college. People still remember it. That's the that's the power of Duke and the power of Coach K. Because like even going back to like the animosity you know in the the hate. That was coming my way like if I was some shit had at Wisconsin or in some packed wells school. I don't think it would have been on the same level. I don't think if you're a Florida the exact same career Florida. You would not have even close to the same level of now. Do College Basketball Coach K. It's all very synonymous with each other. So it's like that's the identifier. Because I was there and I was a bit of a lightning Rod. It is weird though because like take for example. You guys are similar ages. Joe Keam had Super Successful College. Career won two championships was certainly a lightning. Rod was when he was in college but nobody ever talks to him about. Yeah needed a great. Mba too but like no one. It's just not a thing that irritates juice chips. You don't even think about right. It's not the first thing I would bring up with Joe Ken. Yeah maybe maybe if I had Joel Joel Love. We joke about the by like I would. I don't even know that. Bring up. Florida Horford the same way. I wish there was a question I don't. This is the thing that I struggle sometimes is trying to explain to the average fan just how good in NBA players because now relative relativity matters. Worse like you know the thirteenth or Fourteenth Guy. Compared to superstar sure with superstars. You know better right not to say the thirteenth or fourteenth guys sucks or fit geyer the seventh guy or the second guy. It doesn't make sense but then I think to myself well. There's a lot of people that like hate on the Bra. You know it's like. Can you really hate them abroad like you can hate on? Maybe a decision he may to leave. Cleveland maybe that's like as a player I just don't Oh man like people skip bayless. They're just saying things for attention attention. That's what it is and the Internet. I wish there was a question that could like get me into the space where I could explain just how good every NBA player is to watch like just like to come to a practice if your average fan and to a practice and like watch team play second team and watch the guys working out beforehand guys playing one on one afterwards. The guys were under Games afterwards. Like just like Oh of this guy doesn't suck at all actually. Yeah but this is what you're talking about. Is You can make the argument about this criticism in general across the board in every industry like I I don't I don't Chris as criticism is fine. I'm fine with criticism. That's not what I'm saying. I guess I think there's a disconnect like with people thinking a players not good. That's like that's weird to be. Yeah I make sense to me out the the example I was going to bring up is M night on who you know. He's every he's he's heading. He's had like an incredible career grow. And and but he's a guy that's like he's had a few movies that have just gotten like universally panned and panned by fans panned by critics. He thinking you've talked about it with with you a little bit. He's a STOIC. So does none of that. But that's the thing where it's like you look at the technical craft of filmmaking. There is almost nobody on the planet who is better than him just does a from a straight up like there's no better than that doesn't mean that everything. He does works all the time but it basically the society that we're in people and they're allowed to do it. It's fine it's like this is it's why the thing that I'm always interested in is like how you guys blocked this stuff out. And how he blocks it out because part of why I ask. This is to me. The most sensitive people on planet earth or members of the media who if they get criticized or anyone says anything about them they literally can't ignore it they do not know how to ignore it and so it's impressive. It's impressive to assume that he'd even want to have the conversation but like I think about it with like somebody like Zion always asked them. It's like he's eighteen years old and he has something in his mind that allows him to block out anything on the Internet. That he doesn't care about he just doesn't care. Lonzo's the same way. That's that's impressive. Because most people are not like that. Yeah I think everybody were all the questions Get Weird if you want for the next mailbag episode. We'll have a guest on Next week and really appreciate you guys listening. Zenica questions is always Tommy At now stay safe. Send US SOME CENTERS. Some stuff to watch and eat and everything. "Dirks Turks one of the greatest of all time for sure from Addy Elliott writes in. I like this. Who Do you believe you could beat an encore fight in today's NBA and then who for all NBA history is a little harder but how today's NBA? Today's NBA. Joe Ingles for sure. I would I would just. I would kill Joey. Zell's that's obvious. That's an obvious goes without saying I feel like honestly if it really out to it. I feel like I could. I could check deandre Jordan. I know he's bigger than me. But he's like one of those big is where on Mike he doesn't really want to scrap unanimity. Those those were the two guys right away. I feel like I could be what about what about. Tj So here's what worries me about Tj. One of those. I feel like he just wouldn't stop so I I would literally kill kill. Who is it a TJ CONOR MCGREGOR? I almost think. Tj has a better chance than league. Scientists could just be like fuck this. I'm tired of this. Tj You really got to put him down or he's GONNA keep coming she says TJ center of gravity is so low. I would even I would struggle just like getting a hold of him. You know what I mean. Even though he's smart he's just so low. I don't know my roommate in college. We used to talk about this. He was like the scrappy. Guy From Arkansas. To Walk on our team was like Yo ever fought like we'll will you think you'd have to fucking guilty as basically two? There's only one way to find out Sydney Sarah. Chac rights favourite bottle of wine. Under thirty dollars. Okay so I would say for me right now on a nice sort of warm spring day where you can be outside in a comfortable social distance from other people. I think nice bottle of San which is You know it's seventy on belong. Grape from France is the region but a nice sense. There would be much less and you can find a nice bottle from thirty bucks fairly easily. What's your favorite thing you've had recently? Chelsea's a thirty bird was on Wednesday. Night was two nights ago. She was born in Nineteen Five. Do some quick math. It's twenty twenty thirty five years. Nineteen eighty five so we opened a bottle of nineteen eighty five Red Burgundy. That was was really special man. It was really good really good and we had colleague Pizza. Even though I know talking about Luke Kelly at Thomas podcast throat a takeout so it's one takeout We've had we had this week where we actually left the department that when I got the pieces I brought it back a fourth straight year. We've done to colleague for Chelsea and her twins birthday and we had a nice bottle red burgundy. So that's Ed are you. Are you drinking wine or just doing gumy's drink want doing it? All I tried to invite you. Seventy was incredible. Yeah it was. It was his. That's the best thing I've had. I'm not as I just. I'm not as adventurous as you. I'm drinking what I what I'm doing. I'm doing a lot of takeout and getting wine from the restaurants and just sort of letting them pick for me which is working. I you know I feel like there are still some people who feel like wine is not approachable. Like it's fancy schmancy. You can get great wine at any at any price. Like oh for sure. I tend to stay away from sort of mass produce stuff. You know. There's a lot of you know smaller producers that make great stop great prices and you know the one thing. I've sort of always when I get into something like I sort of do a deep dive and the wine world is it's endless it is endless. Reputable similar similarly watches deep. It's deep but its way deeper than watches wading. Do you think it's a fair cop to say The wine world is in a in a weird way similar to golf. And that you can have you can have business conversations with people that you can start with a wine conversation and then it can lead into other things in a way that maybe watches is not sure. That's honestly what got me into to wine. I maybe I said this before but watches for me was very singular pursuit. It was it was. It was selfish. I thought who selfish no one else is wearing my watches and I was putting them in a box like that weren't even being used like I didn't make sense to me. Only makes you happy. No one has had those happy. You're wearing that. What line is a connector? Is a connector. And so you know some of you know my favorite conversations my favorite moments with friends or family or even just meeting someone for first time at dinner and you know having a conversation with them. It's it's been with you know why and so that really was a shift for me was like. Oh Yeah. I'm into the saying I like it but it also can be something that sort of bridges and connects people. Why not so? Yeah why off the same way like you go out and you play a force of three people. You don't really know by the end of it. You like best friends. Yeah sure why does definitely a great cortin gift? Yeah I mean listen. I've done some gifting in this quarantine. I give you a nice bottle. You give me a nice bottle but I would say that. It's your point about price point if you said as long as you're not sending somebody just like a piece of shit if you send them something that has that is just good to be doesn't super expensive. They will appreciate it and they will drink it with whoever they're whiz and so you're it is not as it's not a it's not a singular moment but Stephan Smith what do you think about the Donald Sterling Incident. Looking back on it. Shout out to Chris Paul. The and the qube document. Explain what that is. Yes Oh participated in a documentary called a blackballed. That will be out on grabby on Monday. Eighteenth where we sort of look at you know in a microwave. The Donald Sterling incident my first year with the clippers back in two thousand fourteen but then sort of what that meant in the larger context of sports and race in America so I I sat for like two our to our interview. is a B. Roll stuff. I did not know that I was doing to our interview in doing bureau stuff. Silent showed up at this random high school gym Manhattan. Like sweaty need is close on also shit but the documentary. Yeah it's IT'S. It's good man in an excited about it. What did I think about Donald Sterling incident? While you're going to have to watch the sit. Good tease come out again on Monday. The eighteenth it's a great topic for dock it. Is it similar to to sort of you know what Jason Did with the last dance? You know you're focused on ninety seven ninety eight season but you're you're telling that story in the context of sort of the whole history of Michael Jordan's Chicago Bulls and in a way to very different things. Obviously but in a way it is his dock is doing. It's it's looking at this incident but it's looking at sort of the larger meaning and context of this incident in America. You know what I always thought. It's it's probably not substantial enough to be a documentary. But I'd love to see. Revisited is D Andre Obama signing with Dallas moment with with with the memes and everything on twitter like you guys had a lot of stuff with that team just somebody characters on that team. He's a like a great idea. We should do because I feel like. That's like a ten to fifteen minute documentary. It's not just reduce like six to eight of these like random little. Nba Docs. Why not okay. Yeah we'll just do this. We'll just take this offline. I think I think this is just. We should just do okay vic movies speaking of movies Ray Hernandez if there was a movie about you who would play you. I mean. I would want Tom Hardy to play me. I don't know how much she looks like me. He's a little short. Yeah celebrity lookalikes. I mean. I don't feel like I have like a like a slippery look like Gotten Adam Levine. Back when I was in la. When I would think is there. That's a real thing the tattoo in like when I was in la. And I had the high the high tight fade it. Was there a little bit when I was in Orlando? I used to get Freddie Prince Junior. See what's great about passing is that you were still getting that. At probably like he was probably a little bit on the downswing but fragrance judy or late nineties. Oh two thousand was like one of the goats so that the great basin cop to get. Would you summer little tease? But would you put summer catch in your top ten rob calms. Now mustn't top-five Tuck oath put any of the adult like his movies. I just watched. She's all that not a fan She's all not a good number. Not but some are catches is is a great is a great movie. I wouldn't I wouldn't call it a good movie. I would call it a great. We're GONNA WE'RE GONNA have to have this out because summer catch is not a Tom. Hardy Tom Hardy playing an NBA player. Actually would be basic story of the two hundred fifteen. Los Angeles Clippers with Tom. Hardy is you. You'll be funny as if we could like somehow get Tom Cruise to play me in a movie. Just because of the way that he like. The way that he moose. I think it would be funny to watch basketball or as top crews sports movie besides wire run he runs. A lot is is yeah. He's insane shape he's just a small guy. I mean that guy. He's not playing an athlete. He gets he could play a coach. Sure who is? Who would you have play me in a blaming? Play you first of all. Nobody wants to move. I would have I would have I. Would I? Wouldn't say Adam Levine. 'cause I don't think he'd be a good actor. Freddie junior is not a relevant enough anymore. The person who use it really WanNa have play you is Timothy Salomon man. That's that's how the movie becomes a hit. If you should beginning again with Mark Ruffalo now is it. New is from like five six years ago but Adam Levine was was a musician it did not not playing himself. I was good. If out can act that he should play. You know like full stops. I'm I'm GonNa Textile Right now. Yes I think. I think that this this could be part of our expert. Doc series is the bio pic. But we have to pick the bio pic with just like specific year. So it's gotta be like it has to be like two thousand sixteen Los Angeles or like a specific year in Orlando can't focus on your career can't focus do any of that. It's just to be a year in life. It's weird to be thirty six and still get asked about gook not as like a like a secondary or tertiary topic.

"Because you shot just going to get blocked. You're exposing your your so why is being taught wrong. It's literally from the nineteen fifties like. This is how people are at least when I was growing up. I mean people will comment that sometimes when they're watching the game stuff on social media. I'm like he's like. Why did this Guy Shoe right right right into lamp of his right foot keeping his body between him and the defense this the way you gotTa Sugar Layoff Clay? He's playing against athletic people. Anyways it coaches out. There hit me up on twitter or instagram. About this. If you agree or disagree it's got to be outside Land Ryan Rhoda. What's the most difficult arena to play in because a fan lighting setup? It's I don't think there's a difficult read to plan. I think fans WANNA think that we go in there and we're like scared of blanking arena. That's just not the case. I mean if you get to the NBA like new played high level basketball before a bunch of people screaming at you or mood. Lighting really has no effect to say. So you're telling me the warmup song before before Opening tip is not is not making a difference now now no pity what was the what was the. What's the Boston Celtics? Play with when they come out for walks or playing enter Sandman. I think at least when I was back in the playoffs with talent within they played the Irish song ship ship. The Boston shots purpose. Yes they got me betty yet. How would you have felt if you were playing against Jordan's Bulls and you saw serious? Obviously they're still doing the song now but it's not the same team. So it's not as impactful Jordan's bulls. So you know the warm up the Bulls. Ninety s like is there. Is there any world where you would if you were on the opposing team? And maybe not you as a vet but you as a rookie or a second year guy and you see that intro. That's not going to throw you off at all. I think you could. Yeah the guy the thing is like I'm not saying fans have an effect on the game. I'm saying it's not like it's difficult to go out there and do your job reduce something because of the atmosphere. If anything it elevates you it can elevate home team. Elevate the road team like it's special to play in front of advance. So let's let's be clear on that and I also want to say in response to your question. There were years there where you're playing in. Golden State when they're in Oregon. They're on their run nowhere. Winning three out of four championships like fuck man bike. We gotta be at our best tonight you know we know the fans are going to be at their best we know the warriors are really great. WE GOTTA BE AT OUR. Best Win. So that's really. The thought process is like I get nervous before every game. Every game still fourteenth year nervous for every game butterflies. All that stuff winded with a jump happens the PAP in all it. You just you just auto load kicks and you just feel. Daniel Martin writes Budget people have asked this. Actually I don't think we've ever talked about it. Why do you do this thing where you sit on the floor exit batch? Yes so I. I'm yet to get medical clearance from the NBA team has so- like asked for. There's GonNa be some doctors for you to be able to sit on the floor. They obviously don't want twelve guys sitting on floor so you know because of my history with some back problems. Not Gone that clearance. It started. It was my fifth or sixth year. I was bland in Orlando. We had day game in Miami. Abc Game Twelve thirty. And I like slept really via my back and I went out for warm. Shoot my shooting warm ups and I was like so tight just before like it were but hands on before the game in being all that stuff so I was nothing I can do to really like unlock my back so I walked in the locker room to tell Stan could play that he says to me. Hey Jay rich is out You're starting today so I was like okay so I go out there and I'm like I'm not even sure I can play. A preacher added Guard D. Wade some game so much. I I like. I run in the first quarter. I hit threes. So might okay. Maybe not be fine today so I went over to the bench and I was like all. I cannot sit on the bench to stiff so I laid on the ground started rolling and pretty much says that game. I've sat on the ground. That was the order of it. And it's really for me if I if I do sit like when I get up from this chair like my hip flexor in my bag Tight yeah so it's really about just like protection. I have I have a very long torso and assured arms short-leg so which is not. It's not good position for me to be. Have you been on a team? Where one of your teammates also did it. Nobody got guys. Sit with me. Like guys will sit with me and then if especially if it's a nationally televised game one of the trainers somebody will call you know from the League and say hey so and so can't sit on the floor so guys get kicked off for Floral Alley Rucker Front of the show right so if you could pick any movie set to visit from past releases what would you be and guilty pleasures on the road besides doughnuts swingers man like that would have been a fun movie to be on the setup the says really so low budget and it was if you could go back in time knowing what you know now that would be a it would be it would be the big it just hanging with extra line ground zero with that crew would have been great fabra like to be on. Ground Zero with those guys that movie budget that movie I think was under a million dollars. That's actually that's a great answer because what I was. GonNa say is most film sets are saying Li Boring. I mean there's nothing to see and I it's shocking to be. That people will pay money to go do set visits. Because it's not only. Are you not like hanging out with the actors at the framework or anything? You're not even really seeing any part of anything. It's all segmented timed out and everything like that. What makes it interesting or another sort of low budget? Film like that interesting is they. Were probably shooting on location. So it's almost like you're going to see like a student film or something like that like you. Just pull up there. I think like a lot of the bar scenes were like they just like went up to the bar. Hey we're going to film this movie. Tonight is cool. And they're like yeah role in base. I mean they had a permanent everything but like that's basically how it happened. I was GONNA throw one other movie out there as like I would love to have been onset while they were filming Lord of the Rings in New Zealand just to the New Zealand Barton on the same stage bar. Just the newseum part would have been awesome. I'll give you one. Recent one I think would have been fun. Is Uncut Gems would have been fun to be on that set because there was an element of. There's an element of swingers. I mean it was a little bit higher budget but there's an element of swingers to how they made that movie where a lot of the a lot of the small characters in that in that movie are not are not actors right and certain cases like the guys at the end of the movie when they're at the at the Casino in Connecticut. They literally this half literally cast them like day before they walked into the casino. They saw these guys. They're like Hey. Do you want to be in a movie tomorrow? And they were like sure. I don't even know if they paid them at. So there's a there's a part of that which is kind of interesting Here's a guilty pleasure on the road. Show I obviously we stay nicer hotels for the most part. There's the occasional you know four seasons ritz-carlton type stay. We're very very lucky we get to do that. And you know. I will frequently check in with the SPA or business center to see if there is a steamer. Asana and being able to do that on the road is is. That's a guilty pleasure for sir. Sure Richard Mansfield. Few years back you appeared on a podcast with pardon. My take shoutouts. Pf teamed big cat right before your interview did in Mount Rushmore segment of animals. You'd want on your team for fight. Who would you guys shoes? I've got a bone to pick with Barstool so they re released that video on youtube six weeks ago. Like two or three weeks into the pandemic of your interview of your interview with them and been all these fucking site. Start running the quotes for the sites. Like I'm still I'm not. I'm not talking about the clippers anymore. That was to fucking years ago. Who is it pleased to report that? That was aggregating. They just put up another video talking about Kevin Durant and player autonomy him going to the warriors reports even relative. No part my tape. Just put up another youtube video today. Did they release tire? Did they release the entire interview or just that clip equipped the whole interview al. Then they did like the thing. We do where we spice in like. Oh here's a ten minute clippers. Whatever so this'll be like this be like US releasing? This'll be like me putting out like a joke like Kyrie Kyri drunk in London. Yeah just happened is still. We're still talking about dinosaurs and flatter. And he's he's on a different team like there's all kinds of obviously we love those guys but especially funny about it is like it's not like you're not gonna go on that show anytime soon. You probably go on that show. Whenever we get out of here we were Brooklyn. So you're unnecessary person. Do need to aggregate from like you have stories. You've heard stories you can tell I can get aggregated like you. Don't need still be rehashing. Clippers stuff and lives across the speakers across the street from me in Montana. Happen Anytime Go. They're going through tough times. Know it's Lars from Germany writes in. He says longtime listener. I'm curious about your take on German food. What food do you know? Have you ever been to Germany and then also Take on Dirk okay. I've been to Germany once. It was to fly after the World Championships. Nineteen hundred world championships. In in Greece we flew from Athens to Frankfurt and we had a full day layover so I of course went out of the hotel. I was nineteen and I went with our team doctor and who. I'm still friends with this this this day and we went into like a square outside at a cafe at a couple of drinks. I don't even remember if we ate anything. And then we went back to Dell as you said to me. What's German food? I would think of Schnitzel pretzels Ross. I'm sure there's other stuff beer beer. Obviously at but that's what we've sort of taken from German food and made it mass produced here so I would love to go to Germany. It's definitely you know in my top five or ten places I WANNA go Dirk is Dirk special man especial. What's your take on dirtier I mean amazing. I don't know I've never heard a negative thing about him. Yeah in any capacity is a teammate. As a person like he's a he's I guess Nash is kind of like this to there. Just virtually universally beloved you'd have to really fight to try to come up with a critical thing to say other one of them. I wish national would show. He's doing fine in life. I'm sure yeah doing it's an interesting. What if he had stayed there doubts? Yes it's.

"Did. I don't care how good you are like Lebron James. Whether he's the greatest player of all time or one of the three best players are right there absolutely moments where he is probably. The man is really worth it all. This is all of this like obviously he appreciates the game is given we all have. There's there's you know there's the negativity or there's the the wanderlust of the season where you're just constantly on somebody else's schedule and you know. I know every job is like that but everybody has it at their job so when it begun to job sometimes. You're like Yeah Okay. Fuck this yeah. I think I was talking with somebody yesterday about this. But it's like why. Why am I still why you still blam returned thirty six month absolutely because basketball has been the love of my life for twenty years? I loved it. I mean I love my family see more bass more a thing and I still do. And that's why still play 'cause I just absolutely love it but there's definitely times where it brings on a certain amount of anx. What did you think about stand van day saying as competitive as Jordan? I think what he was trying to say was the reason. He was greatest because he was so talented. Andy a competitive this. There's a lot of talented guys and there's a lot of competitive guys. There's very few guys that are as competitive and as talent when win stand got fired. I texted him that day. I was I was fucking distraught analysis so kiss and how and how they fired him. I don't know ever become public but how they fired him was just during those guys. I mean seriously had they fire. I'm not that did it just. It wasn't right it wasn't right. They disrespected anyways. I'm distraught and I. We were texting day. He actually said to me day. Said you know you don imus in. Rashard are my three favorite players of coached in terms of your work ethic and competitiveness in your your professionalism and all that so he. He had said things to me before like that. But I did see that when you when you said that the other day he said I was competitive as Michael Jordan. I have other issues besides gambling. So by competitiveness manifest itself in other ways. But certainly I think you most guys are really really competitive. Most guys are really competitive. Most guys are really talented but do to be both at such a level makes him grace. Chris Warren writes in speaking of Mj says would you do JJ? Would you do a last dance style? Documentary for your final season when I do a last dance. Yeah and then the follow up is a to both of us who would be your co starred Rob Com. Okay like that okay. That's good dot dot question. I thought your call whether you're team allows that but would you do a follow thing around like a D. Wade type thing where you I mean. I guess I would consider it but I don't amount really thought about it. I think the book thing is probably probably where I'm headed by something like that. I mean we haven't done. Iran com rankings. But like it's GONNA be Jennifer. M's gotta be really like to start with. Yeah what is it okay? So we're not to ruin our. I'm not saying I had like a crusher. I'm just saying she's just like Sh- she's the best and Rob Gosh she. Just which Rob Calms What's the movie with Jason? Today because we are the millers. Oh my God Oh my God. We need to do a full episode on this thing. I loved it a fan. I'm Jennifer Aniston Hater. If this was who would you want to star in a sitcom with a fine movies are great? But she's well down the list. She's not even a top five. Maybe she maybe. She's not done like the traditional Rom com that you're speaking that you know like like Notting Hill or how to lose a guy in ten days. Sweden Alabama like those type of movies like she has done many of those like she's done like we are millers and horrible bosses and that terrible movies she did with Gerard Butler that I forgot the name of it was universally panned by So Vince Vaughn where they live together but they're broken up. She's done that they just start to break. Up was not a ROM com so I need to rewatch break because I've it first half of the movie playing like a wrong. Yeah second half. The movie is dark. Shit all right I. I know what I'm doing. I know what I'm doing right when we get off of. This podcast is every watching. The break-up it's more of a drama. We're GONNA this is. This is a to be continued conversation. Because we're going to have a full episode on this once we are. What's it's ready once. The episode is ready. Once we both feel comfortable with our Institutional Rob Com knowledge. This is going to happen. This is an interesting one. I think from Jay Goyal who ended a street fight between Zion and CONOR McGregor. I mean you gotta go with the professional would say connor has a good chance of beatings. I on but I can't. I can't knock go with my teammate. So I was dying my choice I would say. Conor has these jets that that will be designed didn't even make it into our back alley rankings. But the but that's just the question the back alley thing is the guy that's looking for a fight. Zion's clearly not looking for a fight but he's just such a physical beast that Qatar's tough to beat. I don't have to exile because not by teaming. Isn't there video somewhere of connor scrapping with the mountain. From game of thrones video exists. Yeah it was bouncing around the red a couple months ago connors like a big Guy Right now. He's like five nine hundred forty pounds. He's little yesterday is it's just. It's just a question is the question of whether Zion can land something before he just grounds and pounds. Okay Eric. This question for bills on News Mont build a perfect shooter taking element from each of the greats example. Dame's range Claes form your work etc. This is good. I'm taking Donna than Mitchell's balance. I had him on the podcast. I told him this. I've never seen someone who so on his lower body strength is just insane to me. And he's so lan balanced every time he shoots. The jump shot some taking his balance. Claes up there too when he just doesn't have the same lift. Claes balanced straight to the Donovan Mitchell. Balance Ray Allen's jumping and cats were able to throw greyhounds cavs in there I go back and forth between Klay Thompson form and Kyle Korver form. Those guys have the best the best form to me. What is it credible? Cavs mean like his calf muscles. Incredible credible the vessels the muscles are credible. Rayo has great. Calf muscles isn't plural of calf. This is curious so that so but that is just like they're strong they don't get hurt like what no like. We're building the shooter right. So located like Dodd Mitchell's like the Nia we got Don Mitchell. But then we got ray ounce casts. Okay perfect like you know totally no I know yeah vets. And then we're GONNA throw in Steph Curry's false just a stone's on at this stoned on that guy and you know what we got. I gotta get some like some love to dame with his range so even though staff has range will say. Dame's ranch dip dame's range steps stones. Cool as form Donovan's balance raise jumping slash caps. What am I missing? Am I missing anything but work see me when I was GonNa say you have to be in there in some capacity? Why Not is vision important at all in this calculation or not? Really think so people talk about like how to you know shoe Vassalboro and like one of the things they talk about where to look at. Look at the back of the room. You'll confront ram sheet over the front around. Shoot it at the back of the RIM in. It'll it'll go in some people. Watch the ball just just bizarre to me. There are some shooters. Watch the ball. I generally just like look into general direction the Rim. I don't like like focus on the front or the back. It's just it's more just muscle memory by the way. Speaking of something is being taught. Wrong layups we need to talk about this for the wellish. When I was brought up in maybe basketball coaches now teaching youth or teaching this differently. But if you're shooting a one legged lineup so you're shooting a one legged layup on the right side. You should not jump off your left foot. You should go same hand same leg or you go same or you go outside leg inside hand so right leg. Latin on the right side left leg right.

"Alex Clark writes give us an example of an internal battle. Each of you face at some point in your life whether it's a spiritual conflict relationship issue major life decision. This is from the guy who loves quaker OATS SQUARE CEREAL ON twitter question. What's it internal battle you face? I mean every day getting up active the darkest podcast we've ever recorded guy. I think is the squirted getting to us. But I always internal battle Whenever I've moved in my life where I've moved cities for job even even with college like I mean. It wasn't a question of whether I was going to do it but I would. Just get myself a get anxious and I would get I. Would I would do the pros and cons of everything and I'm getting my own head about it. I don't get internal battles about work stuff because I do a lot of different. Shit and so. I've I've I've now in a position where I've sort of set my life up where it's not like I'm locked into one thing and if I leave that it's like I'm throwing my life away. I'm just kind of all over the place but I do think that that is a I could see you know from my friends. Who've had situation I could see if you've been at one place for a really long time and you have all these this sort of goodwill built up internally and everything like that. I could see how that could could mess. People up by internal battle is actually one that POPs up quite frequently. Sometimes I could go three or four years and it doesn't pop up. once every couple of months just just the love hate relationship. I have with basketball the first time ever experienced it. I was in eighth grade. I broke my wrist the third time in six months. So what my dad I was. I'm not going to school today. This as I go kass on. Am I going to school basketball August donating our Soured so I went to the doctor. Got My cast on school. Came home from work that day. He bought me a Nike Duke. T-shirt leaves he just like sorry much risk. Here have this Jerk Guy. You got me back on track you know. I've talked about this before my sophomore year. Do I felt like I wanted to quit. That was a transition period. Basically since I've had children you know you have this internal battle of like I've got to be selfish about basketball but I also want to be selfish about my family in constantly weighing that balancing that is is Har- and it can really weigh on you. So you have these these periods where it's like. Maybe I should stop line. You know and and just be with my family For me the battle you think every player has version of that. Yes for sure for.

"You know one or two cities in blank as many games as possible in buying the playoffs out and sort of some version of quarantine and and following some level of isolation protocols for players and their families. What is going to change exactly between this summer and December? Let's say start the season December. Why what is GonNa Change between now and then we would be able to play in by live in our hope in our own cities and traveled to other cities in play. That's what's kind of worrisome to me. Would you agree with me? I don't think there's an answer to that. I just yeah nothing I mean. It's it from all from all scientific sort of accounting of this it. This is a seasonal virus. And so we're probably in for more of what we've been through in the fall you know without a vaccine arena have to bubble next year for six galaxy months when you're talking about people just knowing the risks and basically opting into the risks that a contractual thing is that thing were like everybody in the traveling party says if I got this. We can't be held responsible for it. I I would assume there would have to be some level of liability involved where you're signing something acknowledging risk. I don't know though I mean they extended the CVA sort of deadline with whatever you WANNA call it because of the force majeure you know both sides can essentially walk out from the CVS. They extended the deadline to sort of be able to walk out in September so I think both sides layers league we wanNA games WANNA play Recognizes is not going to happen with fans anytime soon but one day but we also have a responsibility to not just ourselves in our families in everybody within our traveling Bharti and everybody within the organization. It's going to be involved but a responsibility to society to do that in a safe way. That's you know so there's a way to insulate us and we acknowledged the risk and we play and everybody agrees to do that than the auto at the APP Games. There has to be some level of protection. You know for for anyone who doesn't who doesn't want that risk. What do you think about the Fake crowd noise. They say they're saying football. It's certainly going to happen. I haven't I haven't heard or read that about anything in the NBA at Crown. His I am in the NFL. I don't know if I don't know if they were supposed I was reading it. I think Joe Buck said it. I don't know if we're was supposed to say publicly. But basically that that's going to because they're going to play these games without fans but it looks like they're on track to do this starting normal schedule time that the same way that like in practice they simulate fake crowd noise to get guys ready. They're just going to do that at home games. Which C. C. While to me but the NFL's playing in like eighty thousand seats stadiums. Right aren't they? They're playing the stadiums whereas I don't think we'll be playing at least not right away. I don't think we'll be playing in our home. Arenas will be buying dollar venues at Disneyworld or whatever you know. And there's guys are taught guys talk you know so. I think I think it'll be enough noise. Squeaks allies sneaker squeaks. Look I get really sad that we've talked about this. You had days where you're really optimistic in your helpful in the days. Where Your? Little Nest Mystic in your. You're sad and I am sat for a lot of people. Obviously people are struggling healthwise economically with their with their jobs. And all that stuff. This is just a very very sad situation. There's there's a lot of days where I'm just heartbroken. Let's get through the mail bag. We got some good questions. I don't see any of these questions before. You're the one that gets these questions. These are my favorite episodes. Because I don't have to prep for. We got some great questions this week. I still want weird or questions. I want questions that make you visibly uncomfortable. Those are the best best bill. That questions are when you look at it. You're like I can't answer that and we don't have enough of those indistinct right now all right. Let's start it offs. Riley lanes sent an email in. What's one activity that you guys have done in quarantine that you never would have done in normal times? Why don't you start without? I have a bunch of a bunch of activities. I started meditating playing the piano. Honestly this is not at. This is an activity that I I've done in small doses. But the amount of Shit that I've watched in the last eight eight weeks is insane compared to what your second normal and it's like it's like that with you for sure where you just don't have time to watch anything between the kids and stuff and season but I would say I would say meditation is by by God. Answer is our grass at for sure arts grass not a real big arts and crafts guy but you know for school. I did a ton of stuff with obviously we. I think we've talked about. We did a whole children's book series. knocks illustrated and guide him dictated. I gotTa Road Things Out About two cub tigers named Elijah Ethan. Who went on adventures in Sag Harbor in Brooklyn and New Orleans The other day for Mother's Day we did like three days worth of like arts and crafts and then when she woke up we had all these banners and cards and hearts made so yeah arts and crafts you think stick with it and I was doing arts and crafts today out of the patio or there. So yeah I think I will stick with it. Yeah it's a good see that this is a positive knox is like Knox's very creative like he likes doing this stuff. So it's like I'd notice in quarantine like it's really fun for me to do it with really appreciates when I do these projects so I think so. Few people have asked us. I'm GonNa read this from Matthew Graham. What's the weirdest request you've ever received? Fan I mean. I've never been asked to do anything. That was inappropriate or anything like that. I'd have to really think about it because I feel like there's honest there's probably nine or ten really weird things that have I just basically have repressed them new slack about plaque about. Do you think the Internet makes fan interaction better or worse social media and the Internet has allowed everyone voice even people. That shouldn't have voice. I must have a boy subdivision of voice on certain things but it's a lot everybody to have a voice and holds athletes to some level of accountability. So I think that can sorta wear on the athlete a little bit but I also think when there's genuine sort of back and forth and interaction with fans. It's it's an awesome so it's a good thing. Here's a college question Casey Evans. Jj can you give us a quick rundown at higher? Recruitment went my dad. Always says you almost came to Uva and that made your games against us all the more painful. That is true. I almost did go to unique. So basically do was my dream school. I had wanted to go there since I was eight years old as I was you know. It was in high school and playing for Williams I realized like UvA would be a great option to a couple campus tours official visits or whatever and two of my teammates on booms out Brown and Jason Clark. They were my close friends on balloons. They were billing. Uva and I was like really drawn to sort of the idea playing with those guys at Uva staying in state all that stuff so the fall of my junior year like in September I so a visit to UvA visits do. I was supposed to go the following weekend to University of Florida. Those are my top three schools. Billy Donovan was there so I go to Viagra visit Great Time. I go to do you know when I'm in the room with coach Gay. He said you know you can commit. You have an offer whatever and get back to Virginia and I'm supposed to Florida with my sisters. My parents weren't even going with me. It was there. It was like midnight. Midnight Madness daily was daily in our friends. He was calmed down from Saint. Louis sounds like this. Is this weekend's going to be awesome and then by Tuesday Tuesday night I was like man. I don't even WanNa go just like the duke. Shane was like so heavy on me. I'm just GONNA commit and I wanted to get you know the commitment out of the way and just enjoy the last two seasons of my school career so I committed that Wednesday to do down. The phone with coach told him I was coming. This is what I would say if I went to Gainesville. Who knows who's on that team. Florida team will so my senior. They ended up winning a championship with Joe and has. Yeah Import Moore. That team was like Rogerson. David Lee James White Matt Walsh went. Obviously I denied in. I didn't know so Matt Walsh was the wing Beta Team but I was GONNA say University of Texas recruited me pretty hard to and I gave him. I don't WanNa Really WanNA leave home owner. Be Close to home and I mean I lived in Austin for three and a half years had I made it down to Austin high. School might gonNA use. I don't know I was so focused on going to do so. Did you have any? Did you have any inbetween when you've got to do and you committed you have any What if feet moments or you're locked in now because my junior year do won a national title and in my senior year. Jay Will Boozer Dunleavy. Were all there. And they came back and Dunleavy We've been friends since junior year high school. So you know I used to go down by sisters lived in Raleigh at the time so it's still do so I would go down. See to stay with them crash with my in play. Pick up on the weekends in Summers whatever like it was offseason so I got a time. He was supposed to be that he was supposed to be a senior to stay and be my mentor. And then I dove in the streets. "Yeah they don't WanNa be. Don't WANNA be no nobody wants to be categorized as one particular thing even if that is of course the only thing too I think join us has more of a claim to napping justice myself. We were talking about it. It'd be like I. I have box scores. I literally don't take another shot so I have a little bit less ground to stand on. If I'M GONNA fight back on that but still I mean at this point in my career as long as Ambien form. I'll take the call shooter I'll take but it's not only are you in a NBA uniform. But I mean I went to the game. You guys played. Who's in December on Christmas? And you played. Indy is really good game. You put Indian philly back to back. I didn't go to the game. Did you play any? I think he wanted the last sacraments of a that. I think he probably had five or six threes in the game. But you could tell. Obviously it's the home crowd so they know you but there's now an expectation when you shoot and it's the same thing it's been with him since. Orlando when you shoot so I was like fourteen now where you shoot. It's going again. People are like. Oh that's surprising. So that's the thing that does everyone in the League can shoot the NBA. But at the point there's only a few guys that obviously obviously the stats will back that up with with both of you guys. And so that is the thing where it is a. It's he add to label but it's a label that like you're not labeling guys that are mediocre shooters shooters and also say this that. I couldn't make a shot in preseason. I shall like twenty six percent from three this year this year. And you know the doubt everything starts to creep Bannon p like Playing this guy whatever In nobody in American Airlines dot any of my shots were growing up. So I've been on. I'll tell you I'd much rather be on. The side of people are like anticipating. Probably GonNa go in what do you? What do you like watching in? What are you? What are you consuming? Content wise is. I'm not on twitter. Which I think is probably the the ultimate blessing I I deleted twitter. When I got to Michigan I was like all about it when I first started playing and then I had like a slump Lee inevitable that he had some questionable tweets thirteen Michigan tweets from Williams. I had I had the inevitable slump and you know the mentions go from like. Oh you're the best to like. Get off all this stuff. So I'm like you know what I'm just going to delete this some off twitter. Which is good. I'm on instagram. But like I don't. I don't really like post that much so most of it is just like you know. See stuff here and there that sent to mayor or whatever so not really too much is good. I try to keep a clear head about try to you. Do you get noticed outside of like Miami or do people Miami Noticias occasionally Miami. Yeah Miami people were like your fame right now this is not fame it's not really it's not existent which. I I've I've I joy quite frankly like before there's I just I walked down. Bourbon street grabbed a meal by myself. Nobody would even think say anything which I think is great. It is interesting though the difference in the cities because you have played in La for a long time if you played in a different city. And you've had this year you've had you would be getting for example if you played in New York. Steve Novak never had a season. You're having right now. Notice him. Great shooter never had a seasonally grabbing. Now Steve Novak was like a cult icon fan. Yeah that one year with Mike and he was like that guy is but the cheque. But I'm wondering if you think about this. I wonder if that's just because the heat are a especially recently are like consistently successful franchise in kind of like judge these things based off of how you do. It may not now. I think Miami's a pretty popular city so like you might see some rapper celebrity like actual celebrity walking down the street. So it's like voted out by like people are just less they care. I'll give the occasional like just a wild city my hand night. The Night of Miami starts at eleven thirty goes to like five. And you're doing it the right way by avoiding all that and just having good meals in doing your job. That's GONNA. That's the Italian spot. I hotel by sky or is sky. I'm not sure the YEA exactly I haven't been to. I've been to Zuma By I haven't been there I got check it out. He just went he just went to dynegy's in New York trump. Yeah Donald Angie's the recommendation on now and now. Have you ever done the tasting menu? Never scissor I'm zoo. I you callback. On this grisly casually dine it Michelin Three Star to the phone is an ongoing jokes. Other come on a lot of restaurants. They legit are the restaurants in the world. And it's the thing that were both interested in. Jj does more than I do and he. So you just went to the French laundry over all star and we went to a place Chicago Linnea but part of the reason why we did this. Cheap eats thing earlier was I was basically like everybody listens to this. Show his friends a hundred dollars. You know once every like eight months like it's not. It's not a constant thing. People are concerned. I'm going broke this. This is the new in my tasting menu. Budget runs into the tens of thousands did using wins at Michigan. Yeah Yeah Epilepsy. The as Detroit airport which is crazy. I didn't know that. Yeah I mean everyone. Everyone loves the. If you're come into Michigan for like Short Stretcher Ann Arbor. Everyone always goes through there. I mean it's really good. Now my opinion. It's a little over hyped. But did you go to football games did? Yeah we always had like so. I never got like tailgate. Football Games. 'cause we had always had like recruiting tailgates coated beyond was very deliberate about that. Like he didn't want us we'd have like a lift before like host crews and then we go to the game so the Games would started noon and we would have an eleven am pickup with recruits. Yeah and you're like how I can't fit a tailgate into that can't do it can we? We would actually. We would have like a eight thirty or nine am lift In then we'd maybe have practiced but this is not a Saturday on a Saturday morning. Yeah but Dan the good part of that was no wonder the cavs were so mad. Game the game. You're free kidding. I loved John. I really do if John had. I told I told coach beyond this when we played the cavs the first time does before the All star break and I was like dude. I tell people this all the time but if you had been at like a Michigan or Uva like. He was at Richmond. When I was in high school I was like I probably I might not have gone Duke. I love assessment. When you try to recruit your Richmond so we did team camp there two summers before junior before my senior year we did team camp in like Jovita for high school. And that's how I met him and he was basically like. Hey Anna you're not gonNA come but you can come if you want. Yeah but his son. His son was the same years. I was Patrick Patrick. So what was the New Hampshire? Y- I mean the unfortunate thing about I mean first of all not great. I'll lead with that The unfortunate thing about New England is that there's really no like public high school basketball scene. Most people go to like the prep schools. Which is taught because like you you lose the atmosphere of like you know a rivalry or like pack jam because it's like prep schools with like three hundred four hundred students and you know there's no like locals or anything they really. WanNa come in support so that was tough. I mean I totally missed out on having that type of like. I'm sure you probably put in front of pack gyms in highschool odd something. I was always like envious by. I've been Did you see our intros. The other night Know which night which the guy from Barstool Pat Pat Nagging. Vdi ACUFF OUR interest. The news good did are starting lineup. And he said he said a bunch of crazy stuff like with Lonzo ball. Who's like in his family? You did a reality television show Lithuania from UCLA. Tall is good but about Zion. He is and he's been dunking on little white kids on the Internet. For eight years that's Aw- Zion High School highlights and I gotta say the competition level in South Carolina to see Diculeng nodded to him on the on the show. We think we might have realized right before we realize like a while before was he played with jaw you and so like they were just and they weren't even apparently there's another guy in the team that was better than both of them when they were playing but like the idea of those three layers teaming up against anybody's just insanity though you'd up you put one year. I can't believe I'm playing against this guy. Power rankings. So you're not in this at all competition commenting other time. Does that specific order? No I can just Kinda go I mean first and foremost Lebron. Yeah I remember watching him. Last year I sat on the bench. Low game think fifty. I think Miami Earliest forty And then this year when we played against him both times. It's just you know you see it on TV but like to see knowledge you now. I think he actually I think actually he was guarding me. This we played them out early in the season. At this point I hadn't really done much. But he was guarding. He was just like sitting in the paint And I made a shot and he kinda like scoff at me like yeah well that good. That was like trying to figure it all out now. I'm for sure last year in the few games I did play I actually had to guard. Victory Depot. Okay and that was like my one from last year. If you had asked me that question this past summer it would have been Victoria depot. He's just like always go. I didn't really stand much chance. She else. I mean it would be like Stephan Klein but they're both been out this year and you're not GonNa get to play tomorrow to do that with Katy. I'm actually a big when I was coming out like pre-draft of a big Joe Ingles Fan Because when my pre-draft right when he had that series with the thunder and he was like talking shift? Paul George. He was like you know kind of like. I don't WanNa say come onto the scene because everyone knew at that. Point is still really good but like he was kind of making his claim of this two way player and I would like kind of compare myself to 'cause you always get that question pre-draft stuff could you remind yourself or whatever so you would say jingles. I like you know I would not really good. Josie were useful player. And I know join us like at least from what I've heard talks of shit. I don't know if I can curse podcasts. In like when we were playing each other this year I didn't know if he was gonna like Converse with me or actually I kind of go abney. So it's Kinda feeling it out and then we ended up just kind of having a little bit of a conversation. Which is the you talk. Is that why you compared yourself to Joe? I don't necessarily like talk. Shit like two people. But like Alsace stuff. If I kinda going like make a shot the more general public you you turned around to our bench this year and we played you in Miami which I also didn't play in. That game gave me sitting there and I'm rolling on the phone roller and somebody says you hit a ridiculous. Three like didn't no wasted motion PAT. It went up writing for bench in the corner there and somebody is somebody on. The bench was like hell now or something I say I said Catch Catch Heike Pie. I said I'm sorry. That's catch occupy different. I remember that one. Yeah so it's funny when you talk about in this setting. I kind of feel like a deck when I when I also like adrenaline. Yeah an-and and it's just Kinda like I mean I've seen I watch you against US last year not necessarily but like you know compete with certain level like fire. Yeah maybe you were you on the team. When we played in Miami yes last year. Yeah I talk a Lotta Shit. Yeah you did yeah. I was talking to our bench not like in a negative way. I was like I was our trainer. We're just like a two hour jokes like with an assistant coach. Who's like whatever thinks you're not there night or whatever like you just kind of hit a shot and say something. Yeah exactly so. It's less like to a specific and we'll talk to you. Nothing jumps out at me but yeah I mean there's been some back for actually the funny. I actually feel bad about this. We played Toronto in Miami and They put Fred Lead on me and the first play I came off and hit a shot and it was just kind of like WanNa whatever I was like in the moment and I said to myself but he heard me I was like I think he's. He's way too short to garden And I I have a ton of respect for players in the NBA to. Yes he her any heard me and he likes he fired something back in like we kinda like we started going at it and then it was like going into this place where. I didn't really want it to go like almost halfway through the game trilogy. Novella a ton of respect for you undrafted guy drafted laid the blueprint So that was Kinda funny moment. I don't even know where my less maybe three we've got three. We've got Lebron. We've got Victor Oladipo. Somehow Joe Angles. Yeah joining those on there I'd probably say Hawaii Koa. I didn't understand how physically imposing he is so strong and he he guarded me for stretches. In both games we played in He's just so long strong offensively just so just knows how to get to spots. What about Yannis honest another great one. I'd I'd he'd probably be five for me. Yeah now he would regard you know now the Our Bandwagon. Bammer derycker some competent. We just played them But he I mean his length and I just have so much respect for how hard he plays every single night to Pretty pretty impressive. But that's all I got kind of. Okay let's Kinda all over the place but now that's gone on the spot so I also would. We do next season. It's going to be a different list. That's going to be guys who you will play against who you have not played against tonight. Hopefully that point I can tell Jj Analyst. I hope I'm putting on either. But he's forceful I keep seeing on TV. And I'm like I don't know how he keeps moving these guys but he does. I watch I watch you guys but like to watch it. Firsthand is actually an incredible thing. Game to game like a new coach k. He used to always talk about like reference points. And you are like building your reference points right now and so for me. As I got older my career I could go back to those reference points when I had the slops slumps are inevitable yeah they are hundred percents that I could go back to those like. Oh you know what like? I'm I'm a good shooter I. I'm actually I'm actually pretty good right and it's you know for you. Obviously you have all the years under your belt so much. Easier to tap into those reference points for me. It's last night as well. Yeah that's that's probably a good place to start But it's funny to like sometimes I'll like watch film of a game and I'll be like let alone making but like I wasn't even taking that shot two or three months ago two or three weeks ago and like that is once I get to the point. Where like I'm not thinking about like. Oh is this this good shot shot? Take this Then you can kind of move into just plan just being free out there. Which is when I tend to play my best. Is it bother you be labeled as shooter? The not necessarily bother me I think that I have other things that I bring to the game Shooters like sometimes can be like such an absolute like label. You know I I take pride in the fact that I can shoot but I don't necessarily want to just be at. I guess I don't know I don't know how you feel about that but it's like A. It's a tricky thing right. Yeah because the your value you commodity and asset is because of your shooting but there's such like there is a negative connotation yet and some would says shooter like. Did you notice when we had? We had Joe Ingles on the podcast and we talked about how he potentially could be one of the thirty or forty best shooters in the Western Conference. And he's like he pushed back. He's like I'm not a shooter. I'm not a shooter yeah. I guess we'll have. Yeah when it seems like there's a even though it's not a negatively but it's somewhat offensive..

"And you know put in. The work in things will usually take care of themselves. I feel like as a shooter to like. We are constantly battling the mental side of it. I talk about this all the time but there is there is A. There's a birded that comes with. Being shooter lay whatever you want to be issued or not. But there's a there's a burden that comes with that the expectation of of making shots. 'cause you don't get the ball a lot so when you do it's usually to shoot the ball and so it's like that rhythm and then you have those stretches you know three weeks stretch two week stretch whatever and that doubt starts creeping in and it can like fuck you up. Yeah I mean for me like it can be crippling for sure. I mean so I played soccer league I went undrafted. Played some league with the heat and I had one of those stretches I made shots and those of you know some as you go to reduce. Sometimes you go through such where you don't got to training camp and I remember. It was like three weeks straight like I didn't make shot like workouts. Maybe but like when we played live whether we pick up coaching the gym or not whatever. I couldn't make anything. This is right when you got when I got to like right before training camp and you know I'm sure you may be felt. Oh actually probably you haven't well I mean maybe have but I don't know but like people looking around like this guy was supposed to be a shoot me like there's this kind of thing and then you start to double down on yourself and you're just kind of the mental side of it As I mentioned it can just be. It's more than half the batteries. In my opinion I don't think I've made a shot in training camp in like five years. It's very rare maybe relates the truth Next to Ken Rich Williams on the plane and We had like this inner squad scrimmage and he's like after I made shots in twenty two points right in two quarters and I made shots and then he's like he's like hey man like I I realize you can still shoot and I'm like we were all talking about. You didn't make shot and training camp. That makes me feel that you go through a two-man author so we were looking at the stats earlier today. And like one of the things which is so crazy. I feel like it's starting to get a lot of attention in the NBA or nationally. Whatever it is it's not. It's not just that you've had this sort of miraculous story. And you've made it here but you're making it here and you're thriving on a really good team and so now looking this before too. Made Two hundred twenty five reporters most threes by any player in his first two seasons muster is by undrafted player. Season ever. You're obviously a super kind of grounded. Humble dude general but like this is kind of like what the fuck like this is a. It's a very sort of disneyesque story to come from being. It's one thing to go to Michigan at have a great sort of college careers to come into the NBA. Do this when you were your point warning from really playing that much senior in high school It's I'm in it and it's hard to wrap my mind around at times I just try to make the most of it. I mean I I certainly didn't expect any of this You know I've learned my my career to not expect things because the moment you do and they don't you know it's just like It just makes them more more difficult But I did think that I was capable And you know we talk about the mental side of it. You know. It's kind of this combination of like I. I do have extreme confidence myself. I know that I can really shoot But they're still you want to see that the ball go through At this level and prove that you can do it at this level surrounded by guys you grow watching on TV So it's it's been a a process I think my confidence is is still growing It helps a ton on not just saying that because he's in the room but like having a guy like Jimmie And really my whole team like Jimmy. Ios Me when I don't shoot so like to have a guy like that because I've heard stories where it's just not that way so I feel fortunate for that I had forgotten. Jimmy was in the room. Still the he'd have this like lead. We were talking with Jimmy last week on the POD and also thirty minutes ago just about the heat culture. Whatever but one of the things That's really unique about the culture and I think I would probably put the raptors in. This too is their development program. How important do you think for? Your career was just being in the right situation. It was huge I'm a I'm a firm believer in for me. At least like situation was going to be everything I felt that way when I was transferring. I felt that way obviously when I was fortunate to be able to choose because I was drafted I guess getting draft makes me four. I don't know however you want to look at that But Yeah I mean the development program. There has been incredible. Last year was huge for me. gaining experience being up you know with the heat but then also learning and growing through mistakes and being able to showcase my abilities with the G. League and then obviously wasn't in the rotation much last year but every single day it was I was I was being invested in from the coaching staff to the training staff In the weight room and all that so I just I I love everything they stand for. And it's a huge reason as to have been able to get to where I am in my career. Is it true that SPO- yells at you? If you dribble the ball inside the three point line that is yeah. That has happened occasionally dot. It's not a. It's not exactly what it sounds like but it's more so than. I pass up shooting beyond the three point line. You know he loves to point out every time that I don't shoot and it leads to a turnover or maybe a shot clock actually So yeah he loves point that one out but he's also like always admire about spend more article about you in the Wall Street Journal. That Ben Cohen wrote back in December to do guy. He's got a book out by the way if anybody. Yeah but I- He talks you talk about. How one of your coaches said that You passing up shots as selfish and that when you got the NBA SPO would get on you about not shooting. You had to like change your mentality and I think for the average fan. They don't understand for a guy like me and you like what would normally be a bad shot for some people like we have to take those shots. It's very unique. I actually went through it a little bit early in the season because coming to the new situation. And you know your coaches are not used to you. Taking certain shots. Look these are the shots. I take these shots I've made my career. They're not good shots. Everybody but they're they're good shots for me yet. I mean there's there's a learning curve with that like anything I certainly went through it It's Kinda like a foreign concept or at least it was at the time like how is me taking what seems like a bad shots or not taking the shot selfish. I mean it's like almost backwards But like like anything. I just tried to like apply. It grow through it. You know you make some mistakes with it but now it's kind of like once it gets to the point where it just kind of becomes second nature. I'm not saying it's air but it's like trending towards getting there And a huge part of it is just being comfortable. You know what I mean like. And that's one thing that I feel really fortunate about with our team is that I just feel really comfortable out there. What's your career high? So far for three point attempts in game Top your thing. It's like fifteen maybe fifteen. I WanNa say that's good. What's your fifteen fifteen and what your graph for makes ten ten and nine last night? I had not yet but I mean like they they were showing me Stuff of Wayne Ellington Like he had a couple of games we took twenty or twenty one. I think it was. Yeah instead Guardian for playoff series..

"They've closed down the beaches as of yet. But if you are for whatever reason if you if you're not taking this seriously I would just advise you to talk to anybody else in your life about this. You know. Forget going to the media. Forget going it's all. It's all very obvious at this point. You know this is not a. I do one interesting thing about this particular abuse which you think about this as someone who does not spend their life online but one particular interesting thing about this phenomenon has been. There's a whole thing and this is a big thing in politics But I think he just sort of like the media in general in that twitter is not real life and that voices on twitter are not a representative of what sort of people thank. You can't make you can't draw conclusions off of what people on twitter say and while I think that's true I will say someone who spends more time on twitter than you do. That people on twitter were saying this was coming about three weeks ago if you were just paying attention to what was going on not just in China and South Korea but what was going on in Italy and Spain and other other countries in Europe and there was very weird sort of disconnect obviously the despres even in the case with president where there was there. Were people kind of like pooh-poohing this thing enacting wasn't a big deal wasn't a big deal was a big deal and then other people were kind of pulling their hair out and I what I'm curious about is like how we can. We have to get through this right now but how we get to a point as a society where we can make things that matter like this cut through while also not kind of like pulling her hair out about everything that happens in making ourselves perpetual kind of panicked state. Is there any going back to where we would? Actually we meaning people as as our society would actually believe their government and believed the media. Because I feel like that's that's a big reason. Why in what way? Well this wasn't taking this. This could have been taken seriously in January. We knew we did it. Yeah and so were not we meaning are Americans? There's a disconnect between what we hear from. Let's say our president and what we hear from the media and what we believe and some of it is true coming from the media. Some of it is false. Coming from the resin. Summit is true coming from the government. Like there's where's the where is like the real truth whereas the people that are that are non agenda actors? Do feel like this is not this is the get back to the NBA. For a second. I do think that the time that everybody knows everybody in the vast majority of the country really start to take. It seriously was last Wednesday. When they cancel the season last Wednesday was like every. They'll be documentaries about that day in particular because between now the league saying the season is between Rudy testing positive leaves agencies in his cancelled. The president giving us a speech dropped. The markets like an historic amount. The second he started talking and I think March madness was the following morning. But I do think that people started to figure it out when stuff started getting cancel because it becomes a it becomes a much different conversation when it's like. Oh this is a big deal. That's the big deal. Please stay inside versus. Oh No This thing this billion dollar basketball tournament which happens every year and is sort of the highlight of everybody's march is doesn't is gone like it's not not only are the are not going like nobody is. It's not happening in any way it's like. Can't it's like the entire country having Halloween thanksgiving and Christmas canceled. There's been a lot of commentary about celebrities getting tested when doctors and things like that are not going to because it's obviously a lack of tests country over all right now Is Do you. Do you have any sort of reaction to that? I don't have a reaction to light like a player from the jazz. Getting tested like figure out a way to get tests like I wouldn't even I wouldn't even know how to contest. I would like you know what I mean like. I've had two friends in New York City that have had symptoms. That can't get a test. They went to the doctor. I'm having this having this. I think I have covered. Nineteen and the doctor tells me this song We can test you. I don't know if that's because they're young and healthier. I don't I don't know the reason my but that's what they were told so. It's hard for anyone to get a test. So if Rudy test positive is a one off rudy test positive than obviously. I think they should test the entire traveling party specifically with NBA teams were in multiple cities. Every week we're coming to contact in an arena with thousands of people when we walk out of the Health Hotel Room in were signing autographs like the Dale. I was saying this to someone the other day but like daily in Iraq. My normal daily interaction if it's a non game day I'm touching shaking hands talking to in close contact with hundreds of people everyday everyday and hasn't even when I'm in New York City just in any place that I'm in I'm I'm touching hundreds of people on Game Day. I'm you know it's probably close to one thousand nine. You include all the people in the arena. So I think there is some due diligence. You have to do with NBA players because of that. If you're talking specifically about the nets team I don't know the whole like protocol with using a private company so I can't really speak on that but if their owner or their front office thought that was prepared to do that then by all means good for them but I do understand people's frustration because I literally like I said I have friends in New York City who think they have cars and they can't get tested. Yeah and it said. The frustration is right and justified. Because it's huge the biggest problem we face right now just as a country and it's the biggest difference between us and say South Korea or even China is. The is the lack of testing the one of the point. I was GONNA make though is I. Do think in this for better for worse. This is probably not a great thing about society but getting back to the Wednesday speech crazy day. I do think this thing also started to cut through when people saw. Oh Hey rudy. Gobert tested positive for. Hey Tom Hanks is a positive. Like it's not just old sickly people with huge amounts of pre existing condition to have this thing and not to say that they are necessarily going to be They're going to die from this or they're going to have to be hospitalized because of it but it order for us to be able to do this in an effective way. We realized that anybody can have distinct in. Anyone can be a carrier of it. That's I think it's more about being the carrier and exposing exposing people to the virus that maybe do have a pre existing condition although I think he was either in the Journal or The Times Today. Something like forty percent of patients that are hospitalized because of this virus between the ages of twenty and fifty four something like half of all patients in ICU. Because of this virus are under sixty five. So it's definitely something that's doing damage to younger people. It's not like the younger people that are healthy. Whatever just you know carriers of it. It can do some damage. I have a question because I again. I'M NOT ON TWITTER. But like what was the reaction online when it was announced. Kevin durant tested positive. I think I think the reaction was not as people were not as shocked as they would have been three or four days ago because we're just realizing the scale of this. It's not that he was. You know I've we haven't talked to him so but knock on wood. He seems to be a dramatic. And he's not hospitalized from it or anything like that I think the thing which really shocked me and shocked. I think a bunch of illegal online was less about Kevin in particular and more that four out of fifteen guys on that team habit. Which tells you the scale of where the sting is. Where if you take a team like that and you have that percentage who are positive and obviously to your case like they are probably at higher risk because people interact with you. We have to shut this thing down because it's not a fluke thing anymore When you have that scale and so it just shows you where we've come as a society with this even over the last like four or five days where I it was. Go My god Tom. Hanks has it. Oh my God Idris Elba has it. Oh my God Rudy has it or Donovan. Mitchell has it into now. It's I think I think it would not be surprising for anybody in any field to come out and say that they have this thing is that now. It's more about just sort of like the mitigation of stopping it. All right PAL. Well we're we're we should jump to Dunkin. Yup I just WanNa make one note on Dunkin and I think I mentioned this during the interview but wind. I was drinking with Dunkin. Was the same glass of wine with Jimmy it. We were in the same room. It's two different episodes. But it's the same time periods. Literally the same time. There was no difference. Judy was in the room but while we were reportedly one bottle that was open. There were three of us because Duncan been having a and then he hit eight threes against us the next night Jimmy also game for him and then you know I think it was just basically me you Jimmy which had a little bit of wine but I just WanNa make that note. I just WANNA be clear. Got Some good good note to be clear. We're GONNA leave you now. But we'll be back soon. We're going to try doing some of these These conversations with different people who were holed up From different fields over the next couple of weeks players. Chaffetz isn't people whoever so if you guys have any thoughts hit us up on on social. Who's talked to should we do? I think just in the book yes. I think we should do the I. G Live on the books. Who Maybe we'll do that trying to shoot for one early next week. Yeah we'll figure out a day next week so we'll keep you guys posted on that conversation. With Duncan.

"And you know a lot of that has to be to be instant because these people are paid on hourly wages and their job at whatever restaurant or whatever bar is is there. Is there lifeline. And it's been taken away right now and it's I know for a lot of people at scary right now in New York when other place where where we live now? That whole industry has just been decimated. Who knows how long this thing's GonNa last in in your you have relationships in that industry. You know if you can figure out what you and I do. And we're figuring out ways in which we can help people that we we love and care about I think if you have relationships listeners you have relationships and you can do something. Please do that If you have relationships your local government and there's ways you think they can help please do that. there's a lot of people that need need help right now. The other thing is like Chelsea Ny. We decided to department with the local second harvest. Food Bank down in New Orleans and You know we're going to provide some meals for some people over the coming months So a lot of people don't have anything extra right now but if you do feel like you have something extra to give You know contact your local food bank. There's elderly people. There's kids who get their meals from school Obviously homeless people. There's all sorts of people that need food right now And if you can if you can give please give while I would also say to them and I think one of the things we're going to do with the show over this Is EXTENDED HIATUS? Sort of everybody is is feature a couple voices from that world Who Have Civil organizations that People can help with but then also send stuff to us on social twitter instagram. All that stuff and we'll re tweeted and try to help amplify the stuff as much as possible because I think that one of the things that everybody sitting at home is a lot of people are sitting there wondering how they can help they feel kind of youth. Feel anxious for yourself and your family but also like we all know what a trip destination this is going to do to the service industry and so. I think just communication about knowing like okay. This is this is an organization in New Orleans or in whatever city and just amplifying that allowing people to generously give money in and time and all those names try to sort of like make things better. Even in a small way is really important we have to announce so we started the book club city of thieves but debt by Bennie off And we'll talk about that in the next episode. We want to give people a little bit of time to read it in get situated and everything like that but I do think that people will join it on. Read the book and read the book. I'm in the process of reading it right now. Have you laughed? I laughed in page four. I feel like the big takeaway from that book. The first time I read it was how funny it was. It's an incredible story. And it's I guess loosely based on David's grandfather who was in Russia during World War Two but yet incredible credible he's A. He's an incredible writer. Everything that goes without saying. Look this up that he's done but you can tell you can tell from You can tell page one. I think I think whoever wants to sort of read along with this will see this. How how quickey is and how quick the book is. I mean you can get through it if you really want to. You could probably get through it in two days. I mean it's really. It's really like a fun read. You have already had a couple people reach out to me. That saw that we were doing this book club. Never finish it. So it's a quick are you. Can you exercise while I have? I have a private. I have a place to get stuff done. Yeah I'm actually going to shoot with some highly sanitized. Basketball's in a sense sanitized. Location here in a little bit and then it'll just be a lot of like prison workouts in this little place that we're staying during Dislike PUSH UPS. Maybe even sit up for the first time and would what are you doing? What is your plan? Have you left the house by the way? Have you left the house? I've gone for runs. Okay besides that no not really I mean I think I think that like personally like I'm still working so I still. It's not that I'm doing nothing all day But I'm A. I'm not an extrovert. But I'm a pretty active person terms of moving around in general terms of seeing people and things like that and so And obviously I travel a lot so I think it's definitely been a challenge in terms of just doing none of that whatsoever but I think you get used to it. You know this is. I think we all have to realize is like we're going to be in this for the long haul adjust accordingly mentally linked by the way so today's. Today's Thursday right. Yeah I was listening to podcasts on my drive on Monday people were talking about like well. How are you handling the Self quarantining how are you handling the day? Three in your guy session flag wage to go. We got ways to go. Here's I it's not a take. It's more of like an like a feeling or more like just being inquisitive curious. I'm very curious to see. How people's mindsets and priorities may or may not change over the course of these weeks you know. I think a lot of people are looking at. This is like an opportunity for maybe some self reflection and obviously you're you're probably isolating with your family and you're getting to spend time with your kids. Maybe that's a good thing. Maybe that's not a good thing. I don't know I've seen a lot of jokes on instagram about divorce. I know that and were were less than a weekend. There was a study at Wuhan in. Were this were. They were the first disorder. Have this there is a study that that the divorce rate went up significantly. I mean I think it's it's a joke but it's also what I hope. I hope I think I hope conservative happened from this. You know they joke about What Shakespeare wrote something during a plagues one of his sort of classics? During the Pike's if you got what it was look it up after the fact but there is. There is an argument that this is a. This is a time for creativity for people both in these industries. And not. You know if you've always wanted to write or write music or do something that you feel like with your work. You have been able to do now. You're like locked in the house. You have no excuse. You know this is your chance to try it. Are you cooking cooked? I cooked for like the last two weeks like we basically realized two weeks ago. This was going to be like something and so we started doing like meal planning where we could like. Have Food for like you know we would make like a huge pot rice and support chicken and get get avocados sweet potatoes and be like rice bowls like that. I think I'm supposed to cook tonight. Actually we have. We bought two weeks ago. We bought a few frozen fillets from wholefood. Yes can we talk about a? I think it's ending now. We talk about the social distancing in general. You know we're there's A. There's a period earlier in the week that we're talk. We're thinking about having guests on talk about. I think at this point everybody sort of knows what it is. The people in Florida on the beaches this phrase. By the way we decide with this phrase I had never heard this phrase before and then all of a sudden like Friday you posted something on social media and I was like social distancing. What's that and I feel like I'm not I'm not. It's like out there on twitter like I feel like I've follow and read enough news. I'm Mike what's this social distancing thing that was not even a full week ago and now it's like it's the word of twenty twenty. Social distancing is corona virus although the way twenty twenty is treating us it may be something way should here. It's believe it off to a bar versus the I'm not actually joking I. I'm smiling because I'm uncomfortable with twenty twenty. I think everybody is. I think it's impossible to be the only the only thing they acknowledge about this so it a whole world is dealing with this. You know what I mean. This is not. It's not exclusively American problem. Which has been the case in other obviously sort of like natural disasters and things like that everybody dealing with it but. I don't think I would hope that nobody listening to this show is on a beach. Florida at the moment because I don't think.

"Welcome to the. Jj Ready podcast. Very strange circumstances they were recording this under but the world is very strange right Tommy. Mary scratch a lot is happening. Too weak man a lot of change in a week. We're GONNA get to our guest a little later we recorded a podcast with Duncan Robinson about five minutes after we recorded our podcast with Jimmy Butler. So that podcast was shot in recorded two weeks ago. It's a lot of. It may seem slightly irrelevant given. What's going on with the Corona Virus? We're GONNA ride and we hope that you guys enjoy it. I thought I thought Dunkin was again. I guess it was fun. It was station. We're going to be serious for a few minutes and then we'll get to Maybe maybe a little bit of a just a basketball centered escape for the listener. So yes a lot is a lot has happened for all of us in the last In the last seven or eight days. Can you walk us through Your Day last Wednesday? So that was he day where Delete officially decided to shut down first of all before we ever got to be. They announced that the nets in the warriors were GonNa play the next night with no fans know in talking with guys. We were all very curious to see how that game was gonNA look on television Viewing experience was going to be like in talking to our head trainer. Aaron Nelson as people in our front office. It became apparent that if there was a positive test for an NBA player. That they would. It was inevitable they were GonNa shut the league now. That was like one positive test. Shut me down. So we're at the arena. There is probably somewhere sixty or seventy on the clock. I can't I can't remember the exact time on the clock but we meet at Thirty Eight on the countdown clock where it nationally televised game. So the other. Espn game was on the locker room. I'll send it flips to whatever's going on with okay see jazz and there's you know the byline of player quarantine or they're testing. A player comes out a few minutes later that it's really good bear. He's tested positive out. I was standing next to our PR guy and will and within like three minutes. He had a memo from the League. If the lead been suspended so at this point you know there's like you know fifty forty five on the clock. We're getting ready to do our meeting. And they're telling us we have to play I it. All Games are are suspended except for those games. At night I think for most guys. It was a little surreal you know. We're we're watching like a team doctor sprint across the floor. Stop Stop Game just as you're getting ready to tip it off and we ended up at thirty eight. Having a normal meeting. Alvin said a few things. Let's go out and play but you could tell like we were all a little. We're all shook man. It was a weird feeling for sure. And then you know we finish our meeting at twenty five o'clock at about twenty on the clock light. We're all just kind of sitting there and nobody's really like bad anxious to go out on the court there's twenty thousand fans out there I think we're all now. Where's even two or three days? Prior all mouse sorta sort of grasping the severity of of this virus and and the seriousness of this virus that maybe we didn't quite get a week. Prior and the League had been good about providing guidance and the teams were meeting with us and giving US information. But you know that's when it became very serious and then we're getting ready to go out. Finally to the hallway to prayer for warm ups and Air Nelson Sprints through the locker room to try to find David Griffin. And that's when we found out Courtney Kirkland Jazz game so then we were having a conversation. The locker room like you know. I don't think it's safe to play. No one felt like it was safe to play at the. Nba made his play. We would but I know a lot of guys expressed concern that they didn't they didn't feel like it was safe to go way. Not just for us but before it for anyone. Anybody that was in that arena. Were you guys in contact with anybody from the outside world while this was happening like were you getting texts or calls or anything. I mean I was texting with my family. I guess you know Chelsea and close friends and my brother and parents and sisters and stuff like that. I texted C. P. later that night probably now or two after you know we had left the arena and he either just left the arena was just getting ready to leave. The arena had been tested. They said you could go. Did they test you guys now us? I don't think there was a reason to test Yeah what I know. There's no link from our team. Are Traveling Party to sort of any of the other teams that have had positive tests so far but yeah so you know we we. We'RE SUPPOSED TO GO TO UTAH are utilize our next game right in. We're supposed to Utah at night. Had We had to wait till eleven pm but we took the red eye back to New Orleans. Thursday was kind of a nothing day Friday. We came in and by this time Friday. You're realizing across the country like this is getting pretty serious in in by Sunday. I think pretty much everyone in the country that followed his avant. This realize like. There's there's a definitive need for for isolation and social distancing a little bit of self self quarantining if if you're feeling symptoms and all that and I think everybody sort of gets. The semi unite talked a bunch of the last few days. I know you're taking this very seriously. Yeah it's well I think one of the things which is just incredible about what sort of happened over. The last week is just how fast everything has happened. But but both how fast how slow everything seemed like every day feels like it's a week was all the news and everything like that but you know we were together. New Orleans last weekend and I don't think anybody thought that this was a possibility it wasn't that don't pay attention to the news. You know we just. It's just the possibility that I was. I kept saying like early last week. Even probably the weekend prior to two. Wednesday night last Wednesday. I was like yeah I mean it. Sounds like it's inevitable that at some point where were playing in an empty arena dough wearing my mind was I like this. Thing is getting shut down much less the entire sports industry the entire service industry. It's it's insane. Country basically entire country other than other than the Amazon Warehouses. Yeah other dams on warehouses drove. I drove. I left New Orleans. I wanted to be with my family in a place where I felt was safe. Where DID UNDISCLOSED LOCATION RIGHT NOW? But I left. I left New Orleans in and drove basically twenty one hours straight. I stopped slept for a few hours. It was incredible and be how many tractor trailers around the highway. Who else was to walk us through because we talked a lot during that drive but walk everybody through doing that because that's a that's a unique. You're not alone in that. But not very many people have been on a trek like that over the last week in fact most of opening the opposite which is just hunkering down wherever they are well. Decision for us was like do we stay in New Orleans? Louis goes somewhere else and you know part of the issue for us and you know a lot of people have issue. If you live in an apartment we live in a apartment in. New Orleans is not a very big and we have two kids two boys under six during the park nearby. Nowhere really walk around that area. That safe it's downtown and so you know there's there's IT'S NEW ORLEANS. There's going to be traffic. There's going to be cars coming in and out. There's no way for us to like really hunker down there and stay saying so we decided you know if the NBA would allow US lever home city. We had a safe place to go. Let's go to that place. I think I drove through like eleven states. It was it was an interesting trip you know. I got to see a lot of America. I feel like those tractor trailers. What else tractor-trailers. Like legitimately seventy five percent of the traffic was tractor trailers. And you just and you just you just cycled calls feels like the whole time. I listened to some posit. Ask none of them. None of our own. I did listen to some podcasts. And then I I caught up on some calls I think you and I talk like four times. Well the thing is upsetting up sitting at home doing nothing and that's what everybody is doing. So you're you're like I hope I'm not bothering you. Bother me of sitting there watching these press conferences watching the paint dry. There's nothing going on. I was very strategic in stopping for gas and I really didn't eat on the trip because I didn't. I didn't want to go to a place that I felt like was unsanitary. So there is a lot of like a stash egos in almonds a nickel but I did have to stop one time to get gas and We had like one thing of paper towels bounty paper towels that we put in the car and I put it for whatever reason in the front seat sticking on my bad heck out as soon as I pulled in. The gas station is woman. Was SMOKING CIGARETTE GAS AGENT. Which isn't always the safest thing but she smoking a cigarette at the gas station. K. Would you get that house like When I get what toilet paper. It's a paper towel but I got that in New Orleans and then she asked me are you. She asked me where I was going. And I and I told her. And she's like are you in the military or something and I didn't know if that was code for the toilet. Paper is serious man. I'm not laughing about this. Because it was a very surreal Question to be asking someone at two o'clock in the morning But it the toilet paper situation food. I mean people freaking out man. How are you handling the and I think this question? Everybody has for themselves. How are you handling the anxiety of hesitancy to what's going on but then also not watching the news all day? I feel like when I was in New Orleans. I just wasn't anything else to do so I was looking at my phone all day long. Which wasn't healthy. We started homeschooling the kids this morning. Which great man. Great morning meeting with a word of the day. Today's word of the day was respect and then we learned the meaning of the word how it applies to each kid's life. Doesn't this gives you so much more? I know you had this to begin with this. Gives you so much? More of a respect for teachers have told. I told Chelsea your sister this morning. I said you guys should have teachers. They're amazing Matt. Knox and I did a math lesson. This morning I think I might do geography with them later this afternoon. There's a lot of people talk about respect. I have a lot of respect. I'm always idolized An educator's but a lot of people that specifically in the service industry that are are really hurting right now. I know down in New Orleans. A lot of the the restaurant owners restaurant tours are pleading with with donor. Edward is to provide some sort.

"LIKE HERMES. She always loved. Jj she always loved Jason. And I I don't know I was growing up. I was Carolina fans. I mean. Naturally I didn't really like do my brother like do the mother brother. Justin like do but she loved. Jj and did you get the John Wooden Award? Yes I was there I was in high school. Yeah actually when you told me a couple of months ago but I remember meeting your mother. Then I didn't really know who later kid and my mom was like boy crush on this. I mean fifty five remain. Calm your husband's right here. You love this guy. You have some play basketball. No but it was a man though. I mean watching judge in colleges like You know the Carolina. You didn't want to leave California. I was this close to going. I feel like he was going to tell us he got paid. I feel like he was gonNA explain the bag. That was no. That was the hardest. Conversation was telling a royal that I was going interesting. Yeah loved them. I mean tide. Who went inside of you? Who was who they recruit to you? Larry Drew Larry Drew. Do you think anything would have been different if you had done that? Yeah for one. I would have been a national championship out of a nice fresh mirrors freaking suck but Who Tyler Larsen Tyler hands still there Danny. Green Marcus geared. But she's still organic. Yeah is it him Danny took and visit. Okay yeah not a great time. It was just too far. Yeah did you. Did you have any issues playing in school at home? Being at home though that was great some people want to get away so we were like I know I didn't want no not at all. I love being. Oh but basketball. There wasn't the Finnish Army so she did the one year and just for like that was that you can learn interesting things going on people's wikipedia page. So I need you to confirm something for me because I was on your computer age earlier. Did you in Lauren really meet? Because someone mistook you for Darren Collison. Is that a true story. Can you please so main? Lorne have before I even met her. We have mutual friends on the girls. Basketball team like girls girls that I grew up with because I'm Kelly in in So I'm going to Sam. Plays Me Malcolm Lee. Go into the girls basketball game. 'cause game in Malibu from California so we knew the girls and Lauren's pry think she's already like two years in college so she known to but we're going to sit down in in the in the seed or whatever some do comes to me. He's like. Hey Darren caused can have your autograph and like stand up in everything I mean. I'm kind of excited like yeah. You know I'm sorry man I'm not. I'm not there in college. And he's like. Oh you sure I'm not Darren Collison in A sit down in Lawrence turns around and she's like cute in Deir Anyway Senator Namli okay but again I had a girlfriend at time. She had she had a boyfriend. I wasn't into we had both left college. We started dating. That's row. That's a pretty good. I meet story though. Yeah no right with Darrin even in school then days saying how he was senior. Okay him I don't know if you remember like Josh. Shipp affordable you know. Who's the best athlete in the Family? Your sister? Oh my wife. Power bound bound for Powell Amway. Are you surprised the three guys all made it not really fillet? That's surprising for a lot of people get enough credit. We're talking about this earlier. You're like the original ball's actually made it to editor's note to be clear. That was Tommy. Our story I felt like a similar to theirs. We all grew up doing the same thing. Me and my brother grew up playing together. Went to high school. We won three times in in in high school. And then we but we kind of went separate like in college. He went to the University of Washington in there. Were top three but I knew just need to do his own thing without me because all the time they always placed us together and then my little brother like we have maximum on just sent me videos of like my little brother running around during basketball games soon. Half court shots at like five years old like do it was like a freak. Yeah but like we were always around basketball everything we did. We always get together and just like the ball family like it's all about family there. And that's what is man with us. But he's always been naturally competitive. My parents did a good job of like. It's okay for you to beat your brother and your brother to be two or whatever like don't kill him. I mean we all the time but like dead. Don't kill him. Beat be happy for him. You know of their success so No I felt like everybody always thinks that. Like oh my gosh is so. We're kind of like not really doing the same. Progress is like you went from this to this Natural basketball though like we all wanted to get better all the time and if I ended up kind of moving ahead Justin would move ahead with me or vice versa but my little brothers. Kinda like he saw both of us so I feel like he kind of had Kind of like a pathway or or or a visual on how to make it to this point so save sticks though. Do you feel like there was fresh air. Yeah a lot of pressure the most that all of us for me if it was easy obviously being the first and nobody really no I am Justin went undrafted but he was still like very athletic and I was already like making a name for myself. I think once he wants to get into the league but Aaron everybody pretty much already had a plan for him like oh he's already gone. Ucla and I'll talk to him all the time. Like do you WanNa go here. And he's like look. I'm just I WANNA get recruited like everybody else like I like you. I I like Duke. All these different places but everybody just already assume I'm going to UCLA. Is there any I don't want to say resentment jealousy that you're the best. Do you ever feel that from your brothers Talk Shit. I honestly I I know your family. You guys root for each other but is there. I know me and my older brother because we're fourteen months apart. He's like my best friend and you would think there would be resentment for one. He's the oldest and I felt like you kind of have like that like the oldest child complex. I'm supposed to be the best but he's literally always been my biggest supporter ever since. We're a little if he is somewhat jealous. He's doing a great job of hiding it. He's been twenty nine years now. So I I this point and then my pursuit at some point in the family gathering also but a my little brother. I feel like He. He's not at all he really just wants to know everything like Ohio. Did you get here? How did you get to this Like gone through not plan or even like trade talks doing whatever because pretty much all the stuff that I've been through like he's either going through eventually is going to go through but he's never again. They've never shown any side of any sign jealousy. How often do you guys talk almost every day almost every day? Yeah that's incredible man was every two. That's incredible like a thread. That's ongoing like a text. Thread is going to be weird. Well there's one with just three and there's one where we had my sister to the middle of five. I've got my family the family it's called the family. And then there's like subtexts group little click on five kids. Love you though. Did you play any other sports Play football play baseball I I think we actually played. Soccer is leaving wrestling. Zana though is where Louisiana Tech is one of the main sports out. There soccer stopped at once. I moved back to California and then play baseball football basketball and then stop playing football my freshman year. We went undefeated in basketball MY FRESHMAN YEAR. I was like Oh. That's it. Yeah we do. We did this with. Zach Levine a couple of weeks ago. And he was saying he played baseball and like he felt like he probably could have made it on it. You know what I mean like certain. There's certain there's that like crossroads in your kind of like no. He definitely kind of made it. I still have dreams to play professional baseball. I really do and I literally had. I had dreams. You should be. I'm a I'm a two sport Dion Sanders style. You should have done it and I'll be. I'll be this like you're kidding me. Three four grow and ask you good luck for the Astros right now to try out new in Josh twins. I want to ask you about a time in your career. We've talked about this before but you're You're young player. You sign an extension before your fourth year with Philly. Then you make the all star team that year and then you get traded like that first of all. How did you find out you're getting traded? And what was going through your mind. My best friend. What's a this little school called Vanguard in California and they just had a bass and we just finished can't on our way to the dodger game so vanguard is in Costa Mesa and then we're driving all the way back to dodger stadium? Casino dodgers are maintained. Another reason why I don't really like the Astros right now but But we're like going through. We just passed lax. And I get a call from my agent but from Sam Hinkie and I don't even know why picked up the phone but is because so. My friends were looking at draft and you don't really pay attention to the draft like that but they're looking at the draft. Sammy caused me in a Mike too. Weird time to get called so weird so weird. I'm like all right cool. SAM's like gear. I've never like sorry. I've never got to meet you but I don't know like thirty in conversation. Were trading you for the six pig and you're going you're going to New Orleans and I'm just kind of like all right. Thanks and then we just hang up and then it's me my best friend the thing my cousin and somebody else and we're like I just got traded like Nah lie. You're joking I'm like no bro. Got Traded to New Orleans in like two seconds later dry trade in New Orleans for now. Is Noel.

"Sixty three year old talk precision but I was thinking about this because I remember with Dwight like I used to think like this guy is like the greatest athlete I've ever seen within. I would see him do other sports and there was just nothing there and I think think all star weekend. They should figure out a way to do. Some sort of decathlon non basketball and get like three or four incredible athletes. So you go and see what they look like. Wow like football accuracy run some routes. Maybe some volleyball try to hit like an eighty mile. An hour fastball. Bitter baseball put a basketball growing up. I played baseball all the way through high school. So I was I still I still go hit and everything like that but I would say not an. I'm not don't dude especially now when we played in Chicago that we can wait. Go over well. We'll be good event. I'll do a one on one tournament for sure a good one on one tournament by how many guys will really get into it because it could get. You don't want yeah. Well this is going to ask you this. So you're in three point this year here. Yeah obviously to time to get some tips by the way so if you win I was reading about this. Don't shoot long twos if elected that if you win three point you'll be the first guy who's ever won both and obviously the your we were saying before bests dunk contests performer ever. I just pretty fair. Eight eight or nine. Yes pretty safe as pretty safe assumption. Why do you think certain guys don't do it don't dunk because it is a difference between being a game dunker and a like a dunk contest type dunker like you have to the practice stuff like when you're in a games you can go up and do a fast break into a windmill you can go up and dunk on somebody but as the creative ability is more in air in the game with the contest? You know there's a million people watch you two stands. Obviously it's a it's a solo it's a solo thing you have to really practice it So when I did the dunk contest I've made sure like two weeks before I did a routine I made sure I could make my dunks on the first try. If I didn't it'll be the second try for so it was a it was just like repetition. It's I don't know if you guys really want to get into that because they don't have the biggest switch over to that a dunk. Contest Duncan My. I didn't realize that The the first year was rookie year. And then your second year you did when you were. Did you feel like you were in any danger of being labeled labeled just like a dunker like a one trick pony early in your career bother you it. It bothered me because I work so hard off the court to like. Continue to grow my a game and even like coming out of high. School wasn't known for Dunkin because I was in high school average like twenty eight twenty nine points a game and went to Ucla. And then that's when it became more because because you know you you start getting those highlight here at Ucla. So you're put out there and then obviously they know what Tim with. My rookie year wasn't a big time team. Meanwhile ESPN's at one time you get to see sack Levine's dunk contests so for casual fans. They know you as a dunker and they get to see all the other hard work you put into. But I'd be like this is for the fans that we do it for as well. You know something. I wanted to do. but definitely wanted to get away from that because it's not you know you don't go out and get twenty five points the game one dog dominique and like even like Vince still like our pigeonholed. That 'cause I know they're known for their hall of Famers is there. Were you nervous like when you decided to do it. The second time after that I perform you were nineteen. The first night in the first solutions are crazy. Yeah so did you. Were you close to not doing it or you always like I I just WanNa come back and repeat it one. I wanted to come back and do it the second time because I have more dunks after me and Erin did like that overtime session. I ran Out Pretty much everything I like. If I told the media issue like excuse me if I would have made all star team I would have felt like I I should just you know I wanted to all the competition Chicago. Yeah but it would have been tough to figure out what to do because it's like everything's been done. How how how? I know you've spoken spoken about this little bit on a scale of one to ten one being What's the All Star game to ten Put me through my acl Seattle Rehab again. What what level of disappointment were D.? was was not making the All Star game this year. Oh I really I I was. I was disappointed. I go on the scale. I guess that seems funny. One one is what's All Star game and ten is eating is it's not on your radar like you don't hear at all it was probably it's probably like a probably like three or four. Okay because I understand how like the politics of go like I know for me personally i. I know there hasn't been twelve players. Isa's had a better year than me but also know that we're not all when it team right now and I'm trying to everything I can to help us get there. So it's it's just the way it is. I don't think it's define me who I am this year. Me going forward but it gives you. You know you can use this feel you completely put a little extra chip on your shoulder bliss. I think I still go out there and put a good season together. I always am amazed. At how many people have say like he should have been an all star. Like my teammate. Or this guy should have been also I should have been all star. He got snubbed. And no one is ever willing to say. This guy shouldn't be all-star. Yeah Yeah Yeah. That's like there's only twelve spots like if you're saying I should have been an all-star you're saying someone should not be so like name a guy why not. Why not because is 'cause they want to say that you know? You can both be deserving inaugural I. It's okay I feel like there's more than just in the East I feel like there's more than just twelve all stars but it's just on how you view all star you know so. That's that's how I see it. You've obviously you obviously realize this You know especially with this year with the season that you're having individually but how much this is tied to winning and you haven't been in the playoffs yell at you. I don't think you the winning team yet now wants yeah. That's that's the one thing is for me. I came from Minnesota. Were A no we we they trade Kevin love that year when I got drafted on. They brought him Ian Andrew and then we got the next number one taking Carl so it was. You know the two young guys we were growing up do the NBA. I give my I give my injury. I get traded rich cargo and I get put right back into the rebuilding mode again. So and I'm older this time and I'm getting no. This is my sixty going into my seventh and I haven't you know I've played in a lot of NBA Games. I played some big as but I haven't played frame meaningful game. Just always been tough and you know you just WanNa you WanNa experience comparing your or experience in Minnesota to now now say. Obviously you're the leader of this bull's team and there's a lot of young guys on this team who are going through what you're going through Minnesota a little bit. Have you found it to be hard to basically become that leader sort of overnight in a way where it's like with you you got to play with a lot of vets. That's when you were coming up. And so he got he got to learn from other guys who were sort of showing him the ropes and a lot of different ways you kinda thrown into the fire. It's like right now this your team go. It's it's a weird dynamic because I'm still one of the younger guys on the team and there's a lot of Odaguard bye-bye experience more the veteran players I mean I grew up in the NBA. With with that guys like my first year we had mo Williams Kevin. Martin you know Tashaun prints. Kevin Garnett was a big one for me but I wasn't like trying to learn from them to be leader. What's the Difference Between Aspirin, Ibuprofen, and Acetaminophen?

"Rain stuff lauren vocab here the average headache backache often sends people reaching Willy Nilly for the nearest bottle of over over the counter pain reliever but for best results. It's smart to match the particular problem with the particular pill. That's because the wide variety of pain relievers known in medical circles as analgesics available today are each effective at different problems and come with different risks. There are two categories of pain pills suitable for home use this non steroidal anti inflammatory drugs more commonly referred to as m saids end. Acetaminophen both are considered anti redick's which means that they can can reduce fevers. Most people know Acetaminophen better by the popular brand name Tylenol but there are other brands as well like fever all the category Korea is broader things like aspirin ibuprofen and Naproxen all fall under the umbrella. There are others but these three are some of the most widely used each each has its own range of brand name versions so which one is best to use it all depends on what you're taking it for Acetaminophen often sold under the brand name Tylenol was approved by the US Food and Drug Administration in Nineteen fifty one but how it works still not clearly understood but we do know a bit about what it does we spoke by email pharmacist Terry Thompson Dr Pharmacy and VP of Clinical Services at innovation compounding. She said Acetaminophen does not decrease inflammation but works in the hypothetical to reduce fever and it may work peripherally to block the generation of pain. It's best taken to reduce news fever or symptoms of pain from flu like illnesses headaches arthritis and menstrual cramps but note it will only mask the pain without treating any underlying inflammation inflammation problems that caused some of these symptoms. You should not take acetaminophen while consuming alcohol it can be hard on the liver. Even when you're stone cold sober and much much worse when consuming alcohol most serious liver problems have been reported following large doses the highest amounts considered safe is three thousand two hundred and fifty milligrams per per day or ten regular strength tablets however there have been instances when liver damage occurs after medicating with moderate or even small doses over a long period of time cinnamon offense should be taken carefully in conjunction with other medications as many headache and cold meds like Nyquil already has been in them. This can lead to accidental overdoses anyone taking one of these extras should carefully read labels follow dosing instructions to the letter. It's considered safe enough to take by just about anyone anyone but occasionally side effects are experienced most often those are nausea rash and headache which is pretty ironic considering that that's why many people take it in the first place is so that's CNN now. Let's talk about these are sold under brand names like Bayer advil Motrin and leave you know how often doesn't do a darn thing to reduce inflammation well and sets pick up that dropped ball and run all the way into the end zone with it short for non steroidal title. Anti inflammatory drugs the category of end says include a variety of analgesics like aspirin one brand name being bear ibuprofen such as advil Motrin and Naproxen oxen like aleve although there's some variation by particular type and says in general work by blocking the production of chemicals called prostaglandins which encouraged fever a pain and inflammation these effects can be useful in promoting blood flow to an injured area end in telling you to watch out and not further hurt and injured area but there's is a point which it's like dude body. I know I shouldn't walk on that foot. You can stop telling me so hard and said go out of their way to denote non-steroidal in the the name because steroids can also reduce inflammation but the way steroids work by depressing me. Immune system is a major distinction. So when did you take 'em Ed's Thompson said those with inflammatory conditions such as osteoarthritis rheumatoid arthritis menstrual pain or muscular pain would benefit from an end said the proximate intends to work longer in the body about two times longer so those with gout or more chronic pain conditions may see more pain relief from using naproxen verses ibuprofen however ibuprofen provides quicker pain relief than naproxen end is less likely to cause an upset stomach so might be more appropriate for strong and sudden pain have hangover skip these Dominican in favor of An said although nothing short of time rest and lots of hydration can completely cure a hangover the anti inflammatory Tori properties that end says boast are believed to be helpful however taking an end set on an upset stomach so common with hangovers can make the discomfort worse so don't take it on an empty stomach will ever but especially in the case of hangovers aspirin has long been used as a daily supplement of sorts for people at risk of heart attack and stroke because it inhibits potentially tragic blood clotting for roughly four to seven days one important caveat however is that people consuming aspirin for that purpose should should use a lower dosage under three hundred and twenty five milligrams per day than those using it for pain relief purposes. Thompson says that aspirin is more commonly used nowadays for inhibiting opening blood clotting then for relieving pain due to intestinal bleeding risks which brings us to when not to take them women who are pregnant or trying to become come pregnant are typically advised to avoid use of because they're believed to cause fertility issues early miscarriage and even birth defects in particular they should not be taken in the third trimester trimester because they could cause premature closure of a particular blood vessel in a developing baby people with gastrointestinal problems might also steer clear of and said use negative active gastrointestinal side effects like ulcers or intestinal bleeding can occur because as we said Prostaglandins aren't all bad prostaglandins protect the stomach lining and help with blood-clotting when those functions are inhibited the risk of bleeding and ulcers goes way up. Thompson said although this is more likely in those who take large doses for for long periods of time patients often turn to a seat from leads for pain relief since it does not cause intestinal issues still confused about which to take the talk to your doctor or the pharmacist local pharmacy. They'll be able to make a recommendation and point you towards the correct product.

2019 PGA Championship Odds

"Obviously, let's start. Tiger woods. Okay. He's eight to one which, again I'm going to say is ridiculous. I would never been anybody to win a golf tournament eight to one. But if I had to I probably wouldn't take Tiger Woods in this one, am I wrong in saying? No. You're not wrong and saying that. And let me just preface that by saying a couple of things. You know, Beth page black is a serious golf. Course it is long. It's just a, you know, Scotia under seventy five hundred yards. It's got an incredible incredible slope of one fifty five so for people that are listening that may not be that attuned into golf having a plan. A golf course it has a slope rating of one fifty five is an analogous to climbing by climbing Mount Everest. You know what I mean? It's steep in Scott, it's got a course rating Bryant of a kitsch over seventy seven while that. And combine all of that. I mean it's incredibly difficult. Number two. They expect some weather, you know, whether it be, I think I've Friday and Sunday hole with a chance. A rain and I think that's going to eliminate half of the field, right there number one, because of the weather, and even if they didn't have whether there, Brian, I think half of the field is eliminated because if you're not a bomber on that golf course your chances are swimming to win in my opinion. So and what I've heard about this golf course, the greens are fairly small, it's a, it's a ball striking golf course. So a guy that hits the ball long and straight probably gonna win this thing. But I guess you could say that about many majors out there. Right. So I look at a guy like Brooks. Kapka. Okay, kept is around ten to one. He's one of the favorites I'll tell you right now. I'd rather put my money on captain Tiger Woods. Well, I agree because kept goes is playing very, very good golf right now. Secondly, tiger winning the masters, you know, getting a lot of pricks and winning the masters but a wins a win. Okay, how hard it is to win a major little go back to back and. Win two majors. It just doesn't happen. And I just don't think the, the outer in tiger saver, especially if it is cold and rain tiger does not play good in cold or rainy weather. He just doesn't well, that's because he's a worst. That's what he requires conditions. That's because he's maintenance. That's why Dennis gimme gimme a long odds darkhorse in this thing. Oh boy. Very good question. You know played last week, and I've always liked a lot of. Is he's from whereas from India, big Roly, poly guy hearing that? Not lahiri. No, no cured that copy barn. Right. Okay. He got the length. He's got the game. He's playing good. I said for years, this guy is got to explode in a good tournament. I don't know what his odds are two hundred and fifty to one but how much two hundred and fifty to one, okay, there you go. John daly. Thousand that's my Bubba Watson, sixty two one boys that that's true Bubba is sixty to one, you know, here's another guy who is just no confidence right now. You know who probably I'm gonna say, Jordan speech, right? Your meal. He's people are I hear the most ridiculous thing the other day that there were when George came out, and he had a stellar year, you know, two three years ago, they're going, there's our next Tiger Woods. There's our next tiger was you gotta be kidding me. Yeah. See, that's, that's just completely ridiculous. All I is so far awful lot. It's Redick doesn't hit the ball far enough. That's the bottom line in this day and age of golf to be one of the best players in the world you have to hit the ball, at least three twenty three thirty three forty t. Has a magnificent short game. We know he's going to win more tournaments and he'll probably win more majors. But he's in my opinion. He will never be the number one player in the world ever again. I happen to agree with you. And I think right now with him. He says he's a grobian he's getting better, especially the short Dame as funny, but he's got demons. And I think that's the only thing that's stirring up on the greens, real. Masonic temple and over thinking that people have been saying that for a long time. Yeah. It's going to be interesting to see how long guys it takes for him to shake those demons and and get back to being him. Let's talk a little bit about Jason day. If you ask me, a guy, I wouldn't really call him a long shot because he's about thirty two one in most books. But Jason day has had a lot of success on, Bethpage. He's had a lot of success on this golf course. I know he's not the best player in the world, but he used to be he knows what it's like to win big golf tournaments. It seems like he is getting much back into form. And he's playing some better golf again. He's my guy that I look at nice say, well might might not be a bad idea to put a couple of bucks on Jason day. He said success here, he can win this tournament. And then I look at a couple of other guys like Patrick Canley, like, Tony female these guys that I think are do they've been in contention, and majors before they certainly have the talent to win it, and it just for them. It's just about getting over the hump. Those are a couple of guys, maybe not the biggest household names, but guys. Is that our top twenty players in the world that I think can win tomorrow? Well, I agree with you. I, I disagree a little bit with can leave. And though he's having a hell of a season but you happen to mention the guy where my money's on to win this tournament. That's Tony female. Yeah. He's all the tools. He hits the ball long way Jos the ball. And he he's got a magnificent. Nag -nificant short game. He's an incredible athlete as long as he doesn't sprain his ankle, a couple days before a major. He'll be he'll be just fun. Every did that the masters. Zander Shaw fell doesn't. He owns that the long drive record like four hundred fifty yards. Doesn't he? Zander sharply. Yeah. Yeah. I was not aware of that. I was not aware of that. I mean he's obviously a fine fine player. I just personally, just don't seem in the Knicks on this. I wouldn't you know, think to bet them, but again, anything can happen, J D And don't forget, all these guys are damn good. But there's certain things you have to have on a golf course like this to really up your percentage in, if you don't have I think you're going to be hitting your gifts your head against well, obviously short game and putting anywhere. But you gotta have the lake to gotta get it in the stairway on this golf course. And again, I think they haven't, you know, this, this course, is held what three or four different big big tournaments before and experience is, is really kind of out the window. I think it just got to look at the guys that are coming in that are kind of hot playing goes speaking of hot. I'm glad you mentioned that because Dustin Johnson has a very hot wife and pulling the Gretzky he is let me mention a few guys Dustin. Johnson. I mentioned, his trophy, wife, Rory mcilroy is twelve to one Rickie, Fowler guy. We haven't talked about is right there at sixteen to one Jon Rahm and other one eighteen to one with Justin Rose. And then you have Molinari in D Shambo at twenty two one those guys that I just mentioned. Is it fair to say that, that those odds are correct? And those guys have a good shot to get this thing as well. I do. I do. I think this one they picked it. They take pretty good. You know, again, there's ways that you can play is, you know, playing really, really good golf not being the longest hitter of the world. And most of these guys, you know, have that they keep them play. They've got a good short game. They have a good imagination. And that's, that's what you'd be on any PGA tour event Brian. You know, that's sure. No absolutely

Ben Simmons, Jared Dudley And Joel Embiid discussed on Golic & Wingo

"Twenty. Let's talk about what happened last night. And Ben Simmons heard everything even though he said he didn't Jared Dudley. Call them out said he was averaging half court set. So Ben Simmons goes for thirty one points and goes eleven of thirteen I believe from the floor mostly that in a half court set as the Sixers without Joel Embiid. Take care of the nets in Brooklyn. Yes. Knee-injury knee soreness in that needed it in bothering him for a lot of the latter portion of the season kept Joel Embiid off the course court last night. And a lot of people wondered if Bogan and Greg Monroe would be able to their it turns out that when Ben Simmons goes nine eleven in the half court Tobias Harris goes six of six from beyond the arkan- JJ Redick. Twenty six points. You really don't much more than that. No. I mean, listen they space without 'em in the middle of that. Ben Simmons could run as Gina was with us earlier saying kind of the point center position in the pink. That's where he scores, and as we've talked about when that guy if and when that guy can get a jumper, a mid range shot Cy jumper of just what he can be. Because he absolutely tore them up on the inside as he does we mentioned eleven to thirteen nine of eleven in those half court set. So what he's able to do. But to your point is well, Mike, you can't expect vice hairs to go six for six from three point land. And Embiid with that shaky ne- not so much in this round. But going forward of where they wanted to go and what they can do. And I guess the other part of this is Ben Simmons who denies that. He heard anything in this race. It makes it very clear that they hear everything on most of these -cations. He did come out with different edge. It was noticeable the energy this guy came onto the court with and that translated on the defensive end where he can be a nightmare because of his size and length and it translated clearly in the half court offense area. He was criticized. So as is the parlance of our time dude got to keep that same energy because Brown. I'm sure is looking at all these guys saying this is what we can be. This is the team that everyone identified before the year started as one that could represent the east in the finals, and when they play like that it's possible. And when they play like we've seen early in the series where it's inconsistent at times, a lack of attention to detail day can also fall in the first round. Absolutely. So Simmons went off. Again, Jared Dudley said he was average in half court sets. There was a missing poster mocking Simmons jump shot on a street sign outside the Barclay center, offering twenty six million dollar award, obviously that was his rookie contract. So clearly, Ben from an Australian reporter mind, you Ben was born in Australia was asked. About all of this leading into the game. Been coming into a building. What Jared said everything that went on this way? But it was a very loud booting, very hostile environment. What's to come into someone these walk away with the victory? Try not to pay too much attention to what's going on social media. And what people say just because people say what they wanna say. And I can't let that affect me on the floor. So I decided to my job step on the floor run the point guard position as best I castle. So then do you think Jared Dudley? So thanks average corporate Donana where he'll be nice one time because all players who say, they don't listen don't here. They all do go back to the days of playing and taking the exact same thing. It'd be great to hear. So. Yeah, I heard what he said. And I I want if he's still thinks that now the great to hear him say something like that. Because like, yeah. Don't have problem with at his stat line from deadly two point for two for two with two turnovers on the night. Yeah. In seventeen minutes of action airball point gotta say gotta respect Jared Dudley for making the statement after a game to where he was deemed p coach's decision. He did not log a minute in game two. So to come out and still have that criticism of Ben Simmons indicates level confidence. And also a guy that quite frankly worked for us for a little while who probably has some desire to be in the media, very got body for it, which is impressive. I don't mean that from a slight. I am sorry. Who is team dad Bod right now? So to see dad bought out there still bone in some respect is impressive. Absolutely. So that's what happened between the
