For kids, like when I was playing, they gave us like 7 or 6 sometimes. So I had wished that it would go to 9 innings a lot of times, but the longest I played is probably about 9 or ten innings. Oh my goodness, not only did I know him personally, but my wife, Lisa, was his personal secretary for some years and I had the honor of being ordained bypass to check personally. So yes, we did. Wow, that's amazing. I was, I've heard nothing but wonderful things about Kelsey Grammer and his portrayal. And of course, he really got emotional during a national TV interview talking about his faith in the experience of being a part of all this. Yeah, I saw that. And I was not surprised because when you do and I assume he did, he studied the role of who was this man chuck Smith. Todd, he was not flamboyant. He was extremely frugal and simple. He was at that era and the Jesus movement or the hippie era, chuck was considered an old man. And he had a pretty monotone voice, but he sat on the stool and opened the Bible and just taught chapter by chapter verse by verse and tens of thousands of people flocked to here. The Bible and they were hippies. They were, listen, I remember going there when I was 19 years old. And there were people showing up in the parking lot that had been invited off the streets are off the beach and you could even smell pot. Now in those days, I was fully legal. But it was like so shocking to where there are people that would come to church being invited by somebody. Hey, you should come. And they would bring drug addicts. They would bring prostitutes. They would bring religionists, you know what I mean? Anybody. So when you saw the demographic of any given service, it was shocking because there were men in three piece suits and there were hippies. There were people with no shoes and people with wing tips. And they were all shoulder to shoulder. And I thought Todd, 'cause I had no religious upbringing. I got saved in 77, and I thought that's what church was all. Whatever church was like. And I didn't know that. So I've been spoiled. It's the only example I've ever known is verse by verse, chapter by chapter Bible teaching and then Jesus does the rest. He brings his people to hear his voice through the word of God..

"And they are so far out of touch. Here are the schools in north Georgia. If you tried to do whatever they did over there, it would be like trying to attack Texas walker rangers because we have police officers at our school every morning throughout the day to the end of the day. There's one school that shares the same driveway between the school and the sheriff's department. It's on the same piece of property. In our state, we've already taken those types of steps by just at least putting police officers around in the area. There's never been a day that I've taken my child after going to a dentist appointment or a doctor's appointment. If there wasn't a police officer sitting in the front of the school, it's 12 new. Sometimes they're inside and the front office. And you know what? I mean, they're well covered. And this is a public school because it's at a state level that we've taken, you know, in a state like Georgia where you have an open carry, right? The governor just passed that law. You don't have to have a concealed weapons permit anymore to walk around feeling safe. And thank God for state legislatures that get it. And that's why that's why I think the federalization of education is such a disaster one, education is not in the constitution. There should be no Department of Education. That should be at the states like many other things. But you know, I'm sick and tired of the left Randy that will come up and they'll say or they'll post you just want to make the schools like prison. You want to make these kids scared you want to put them in lockdown. No. If you've ever been to a concert if you've ever been to a ball game, you know when you walk in typically, you're gonna have a bag check or a metal detector, there are armed, security guards, or police at the ballpark. And honestly, Randy, when I, when I go and watch the Memphis redbirds minor league baseball team, I don't feel like I'm incarcerated. Do you feel like you're going into a jail setting when you go watch a ball game? Absolutely not. You know what? That's because I look at those people as a friendly protection. They are not infringing me in any way, but I know if somebody, I don't know, happened to pull a weapon out of whatever. I know that, hey, there's some guys around here who have got weapons to combat them. So it's all in the approach. And again, it's how I know I'm just going to say it's the way I teach my kids about society. Randy, thank you for sharing a few minutes with us here. We appreciate you and everybody down at WD, you and I don't think there's a ball game this weekend, but that won't stop me from having a cold one this weekend. Go after Facebook and go up, you know, give them a couple of $1 billion and buy them out, but I'd take care of that problem. Yeah, you know, Mark and no offense to our bowl of president, but that truth social, not working out very well. So yeah, I know I'm on a waiting list right now. 1000. Oh my gosh. It's terrible. But I will, by the way, the update here. Now, Twitter has named Elon Musk to their board of directors, so I mean, he's just moving right on up in the company. Sweet. One other thing I want to bring up is you've heard it here first. You remember that kid falling off that ride in Orlando? Oh, that was a terrible story. Yeah. Well, he's being represented by Ben crump. He went on Fox 6 news today and here in Florida. And cross reference that situation with George Floyd. And I'm like, are you kidding me? The thing that happened to George Floyd was tragic. We all know that. And we all know that. And then he compared this kid falling out of the seat as the same thing. What is he trying to achieve by making that statement? I'm totally blown away at the statement, and it was on these here in Florida. So Ben crump is the guy who represented George Floyd's family and the solo boy he was on one of these amusement rides in Orlando, the ones that just comes crashing down and the kid fell out and was killed on impact. It was a terrible story. I was on that go ahead, I'm sorry. I just don't see the racial component here. I mean, it's he suggesting that the ride operator was trying to kill a black person? I don't know. I'm totally baffled by it, but I know that there are going to be held responsible because I've been on that. I went on it a couple of years ago. It's pretty cool, but when it came down, he was clearly overweight and shouldn't have been on it, but they did. He had been refused to prior ride. And he came to this one and it wasn't posted, and they stated that it was locked, but it wasn't because when it comes down, when you get up there, they tilt the seat. And then when it comes flying down near the end, then it stops you and then straightens the seat back up. What happened was he was so big that when it came down and slap, you know, stop that sudden he flew out of the seat because he was too big for that chair. And he shouldn't have been on it and they didn't have that posted either. Well, for whatever reason, maybe they were afraid they were going to get discriminated against if he wasn't on the right. I don't know. Well, it's darned if you do. Darned if you don't these days, but everything's always about race, Mark. That's the rule. And if you can make it about race, you win a lot of money in the lawsuits. But it seems to me, the families got a lawsuit regardless here, so Mark got to leave it there where I coming up on the top of the hour good hearing from you. And grace baker, it's opening season for the Memphis redbirds, a big, big doings down at the ballpark. Oh yes. Very exciting. Excited about them. I tried out for the series. Did not really make the cut gymnast right. Yeah so. I did gymnastics in high school for year. Was okay at that but then when i went to my first college was illinois state. There's a little bit of illinois state. Yeah yeah i'd read. I'd originally went there when i was there. They had their one of two colleges in the world to have cleared circus. I don't know if it's a true story or a a a folk tale but it was when jaydee drew the detail. I was told when i was at. Fsu was that because of the circus related. Tendencies up the whole time. I'm not gonna lie when i heard there was a circus that kinda tip the scales illinois state like i have to i have to. I have to go. I bought the book and balance beam freshman year. I tried to brings i. I could get up on the parallel bars of like. I'll try the circus. Ought but yeah. So i went there. Were like open tryouts and whatnot. And i actually showed up a week late and they just thought i made the cut because they were kicked a bunch of people out and i just stayed because they didn't call my name to. We've never favorite also didn't sign a release. I wouldn't sue them. I was there for a couple of weeks. Operated in tip top shape. Oh yeah so. I tried wall trampoline. Which is those the. It's the olympic trampolines that you put up against the wall and people bounce the drop on your back and run up and then like kick yourself down to get higher and higher..

Know what if redbird has to do with with fair park. It's like in everyone's mind all of southern dallas monolithic. And it's exactly the same thing. There's no acknowledgement of how huge it is diverse population socioeconomically racially diverse pleasant growth and oak cliff. Have nothing to do with each other. They are so so different but but one thing happens in southern dallas and the entire areas painted with it. And so you're right. Valley view sat. You know with nothing going on. Nobody is saying oh. North dallas is viable. Right it's like that old headline murder in oak cliff. Where was actually. You don't know where the murder was. It was in oakland. There's an oak cliff half a southern the the the other thing. I'll say the phrase that you use just to be very. Frank is a phrase that that i hear from From from friends in the african american community all the time you gotta be twice as good to get half the credit and that is definitely true of this development there there. It's both give us the resilience to bounce back for whatever life throws at us and god knows thrown lot at us over the past sixteen months. Think back to all that we've endured as a community of faith. We have uplifted one another. We've gotten through this thing together. Christ has seen us through it as christ always does. Because that's kind of christ's thing and today especially we celebrate. How through your membership. Douse the membership bows that we all take when we joined a congregation to support and uphold this foundation of the united methodist church with our prayers are presents gifts our service and our witness. Those vows have enabled these young people to grow in their music to grow in their faith to grow in their fellowship which has been. That's never a small thing. It's a specially not a small over the past year morning right early on our behalf on your behalf. They're leaving on tour to bear witness to the love of christ which is the love that they have learned here at christ. United and. Brian mentioned some of the details that they're going to be singing edit nursing home in little rock. They're gonna be singing. A senior living center and memphis for folks who themselves are trying to bounce back from extended isolation during the pandemic. they're going to be singing at the union mission. Women shelter and memphis for women in their children who have survived domestic abuse. Who absolutely need the resilience. That christ offers us. That'd be singing the national anthem at a minor league baseball game at the home of the memphis redbirds. They're going to be taking their faith on the road sharing the love of christ through their passion for music. And they're able to do that. And i would add because of the love and support of their church family all the which has given them the resilience to do what they love and to bless others in the doing man i was going to say there's not a whole lot that i believe more than that's true more than the fact truth. Theological truth that. Paul tells us that we can do all things through him. Who strengthens us. And as paul makes clear that strength is best lived out in the context of a community of believers.
