Lip will talk about forty years ago Bill bradley comes aboard to the knickerbockers after completing is Postgraduate work over at oxford. He signed a huge contract. I guess that's where he got the name dollar bill from The knicks of course coach by the great the legendary red holzman and. They made a decision folks to showcase bradley to the new york. Press with some sessions at the garden. Now local players were brought into scrimmage during these sessions. One of them was great next. Mike reardon right mike yet. That was i think after the season probably in april or may So they the floor down in the garden to do a pr thing and introduced bradley to the scene and Wall frazier was there. He was the first round pick. They had veterans from the team. Then our sales were there Emmett bryant ready crop producers good collection guys there for workout now From what i read. Mike sorta took dollar bill to school. Is that true now. that's not true. That was a tough match up But the only thing that was that we kid him about was all those college fouls he got away with And going to free line. He wasn't going to get them in that scrimmages civil there was a lot of no calls. Just i remember. And he's looking around in the habit of going to the line that wasn't happening so physic- physicality of the pro gain was a whole different game. A lot of people had to get adjusted to and If you played a lot of schoolyard basketball in new york you are pretty comfortable with it but if you were used to college are you used to oxford. You might have a few practices to get adjusted to it. Exactly things Not the same jelly. All england has they are on the at madison square garden. "Nick. Tapestry of a team. Phil Jackson. Um guy who played on those red Holzman Nix. Teams. You calling him a racist? This because by saying a racial move then you're you're calling fill a racist. I've got a problem with that. You think Phil was or is Oh, yeah. I mean, do you remember Phil Jackson left? The Lakers went wrote a book on Kobe Bryant and then came back and coast him. I mean, who would do that? You name someone in professional sports that would do that. You know? I think he's got the Expos Kobe In a way that he shouldn't have. You're the head coach and you're the guy that sits in the locker room and tells the players this is a circle and everything stays within the sort Because that's what team is about. But you as the head coach, Open it up. And now you go out and you try to belittle at that time, probably one of the greatest players in the game. What feels like he's disloyal. I don't know if that makes him a racist. Well, that's your Yeah. Way of putting it out. And I have my way. I was in the locker room with him. I was in price since waiting. Uh, you're looking for my farm. I don't how to respond to that. I mean, Dan kept pushing, Um and then Pointed out about how Phil once had. Michael passed the ball to Steve Kerr right to win one. And, um Pointed out how NBA television cameras were in the huddle. Hearing. Michael's basically a seed to that. And Phil and Scotty told Dan that that was all a setup. The Jordan knew that the cameras were there and he was in control of them and set that up. It was weird. Part of that interview with Dan and and Scottie Pippen. There's only one way to put it. I wasn't in the locker room. At all Clearly Was covering the team. We didn't hear anything like that. And for all those years, it was discussed that Scotty was just upset with his contract, right? Upset that KU coach is being brought in and And that could coach had, uh, had the moment. It's what the last is, actually, that's what it wasn't. That's not what we've all kind of thought for years that again like Scotty pointed out, we weren't there. We have no idea. We're looking at it from afar and things that we've kind of gleaned over the last 25 years and who knows, said to Jordan's departure for baseball was selfish. Oh, boy. Those reunions that are going to be set that ever thought maybe set up for years from now, right? Everybody gonna get back together and Kumbaya. At some point is that he hasn't talked to Mike and understand that Wow. Wonder what Phil is going to have to say He's gonna have to put out a statement here, don't you think? Have to respond, or they'll just let it let it sit there. I don't know who's going to being called a racist by one of the top 50 players of all time. Who's going to be one? The text fill like Hey, did you hear what Scotty said? I'm sure as many people I'm sure there are many people. Well, I have something to set up and and and, uh and asked Michael wilbon. And, of course, Everybody should check it out on Peacock and Dan's full interview with him. It's gonna be sitting out there. Colin Hanks is going to be joining us on this program. Um, before him all of our first guest top of the next hour is going to be, um, Greg Cosell. Because one Facenda the voice of NFL films, was Announced today that he's going into the Pro Football Hall of Fame as the 2021 winner posthumously of the Pete Rozelle TV and Radio award. One of those moments like Wait a minute is not in yet. No, he is not in and I poked around NFL films. To see who they're that's currently there, worked with John Facenda, who died in the early eighties. And Greg Cosell is the last Current employee of NFL films to have worked with John Facenda. And so we'll have him spent a couple yards about him. And he also filled in for Peter King for the mm. QB. So Um It's always interesting chatting with Greg Cosell. And then in our number three with the Stanley Cup starting tonight, and the Montreal Canadian visiting the Tampa Bay Lightning trying to win two in a row back to back cups. Colin Hanks, a die hard fan of the Los Angeles Kings, who is always ready to tell you the story about 1993 Stanley Cup final. The last time the Canadian we're in the Standard Cup final And the Kings were up one games to none. And we're about to go up to Oh, When Jack to mirror the Canadian coach called over Kerry Fraser And the rest of the officials on the ice there in Montreal to say, Check out Marty McSorley stick. It is illegal. They checked out the stick. McSorley gets put in a box. They score one. With mere ticks left on the clock because they pulled the goalie Patrick Water to have a 64 man advantage and then one and over time and then won the Stanley Cup and Kings fans were cursing at the Montreal Canadian and apparently Curse was placed on the entire Hockey loving nation of Canada because L. A Kings fans will point out. A Canadian team has not won the Cup since that 93 team and Montreal is now back in and in advance of Game one tonight. We'll figure out, Colin, Come on. And then, Chris, With all this NBA talk allows me to Avoid the fact that I don't follow baseball any longer, and the Yankees got swept in Boston and, uh, looked totally sleepwalking doing it. They got spanked their equipment truck banged into the Fenway Park garage, leaving there and got stuck. There. It is on your screen right there. That's it. That's it right there. It's like the it's like the worst out take from the town of all time. The worst Cape Forever can't even escape with your tail between your legs and the Yankee 2021 season is officially a five alarm fire, meaning the building is fully involved. Everybody in the building involved. And this disastrous mediocrity of a season, which is You know better than others. But not when you are the Yankees with how much money you spent in the expectation level being what it is. And I figured, who better to talk about it. Than somebody who Text me in the same manner in which he tweets, which is all caps filled with profanity. And I asked him if he'll come on in studio. Um and, uh and keep it as pg 13 as he possibly can. I don't mean Paul George. The great Nick Totoro will be here. To wrap up the show. Fantastic. And then you threw out 844204 rich number to go. What do you think of what Scottie Pippen had to say Olympic or everything that we set the table for? Ms three hour program. But when we come back Tom Brady on the shop with LeBron and Maverick Carter and Chelsea handler and a whole bunch of others and Draymond green, the sound bite that we only heard three seconds about Was played in full.

"And then seventy two seventy three you had writers were very close to red holzman so as a result you you didn't have the kind of coverage that you have today where redwood tell people things had happened in baseball and hockey also football and it would not be printed today. It's incredibly different. Certainly with social media now but even prior to social media in the seventies the eighties and nineties you know they came a little Let's see wary of of things being getting out so that that changed. But you know red holes for example would play cards with the writers. And we'd go to dinner with a right as you. Just don't see that anymore. It's more protective now. In in in every way so That was a major difference. I'm of the writers went on the chargers. You do not see them as the broadcast is usually went on the join but the writers did the not so it was really separation. Have you ever gone back and listened to that. Nineteen was it. Sixty celtic Knick game you're fill-in debut i you know. I heard the tape along time ago and it was a different sound but what i was first starting out broadcasting because that was around mark licnen so frequently i was. I was talking like him. Even answer the phone at home. Like mardi hit a very distinctive way about him. And i think i got my parents crazy with with that. I mean i didn't even realize i was doing it. And then the most important thing for a young broadcast to is to develop his own sil- and it was influenced by the fact that he really set the geography of the court and i started out primarily doing radio and he was mostly on radio. And you always knew where the ball was or in hockey. Where where the puck was and it was important to get You know those particular geographical areas correct. It's on the right side light. It said along the baseline. What kind of shot is it as a running one hander. Is it a jump. Shot from twenty is is he cutting to his left as a backdoor pass on the bounce. This more radio than tv tv you'll pull back. I feel you should pull back. I mean you see quite a bit of it but you don't have to talk as much and you're also setting up. The color man particularly in basketball hockey is more of a play by play sport. Because it's so fastener so few commercial breaks. But that's what i gain from being around marty glickman as much as i was because Just sitting with him and watch him capture the game. I thought it was no one like about that. Time in coming up as you said with your own style. Is it just trial and error as you're going through You know the these jobs in or you try. He working on stuff at home at the same time. How are you. How are you formulating that. That personal it's a bit of trial and error and i used to listen to every possible broadcast. I mean i remember my shortwave. Radio particularly with hockey hockey was very big. Where i grew up in brooklyn. We had roller hockey league's As it turns out my son played hockey and ended up playing for club team at nyu. And my brother. Al who ended up doing the denver nuggets indiana pacers and nets briefly in new york But he was a hockey nut and he would travel. And it's hard to find ice time in brooklyn but he would travel an hour several times a week and he became a very good skater became a goaltender played in college and then actually made a minor league team The toledo blades..

"Here's Jodie Mack hanging with John C s Fort radio. I'm going nowhere fast, Johnny Mac gonna be around till all let me stay told about another three hours and 40 minutes. Somebody about said I'm gonna check out if that's okay with you. If I log in four hours. Well, I have done my time for the day. I hope so. I hope you're not going to say Yo, you lazy You know what? Either way had the day off. Yesterday I had a happy Christmas. Merry Christmas. Hopefully you did to hopefully got some good stuff. Did tweet this out earlier and a bunch of people responded, Um, yours truly got a bunch of new clothes. Both my daughter and my wife. And even my, uh Mother in law bought me some nice stuff. But shirts and pants, mostly winter stuff. I got more stupid golf shirts than I know what to do with and all my girls know that so they didn't buy me any short sleeve shirts and we're in the middle of winter. Right? Um, but I've certainly gotten very nice short sleeve shirts before for Christmas, but I got a whole bunch of new clothes. Because I kind of needed it. Yours truly has dropped a bunch of weight this year, some of it because I've mostly because I just had to change my diet. I watch my diet. My wife watches my diet for me. I'd gotten up over £200. I'm takes what all I shouldn't be over £200. It was over 205. I think one point Linked to the doctors. I think two of eight was my high. Wait. Um and I'm now down under 1 80 on 1 70 something I don't know exactly what I am, but it's it's £30. I've lost £30 in the last 10 11 months somewhere thereabouts. So my girls got me well outfitted and well dressed. Which I think is kind of ridiculous. I like it. I appreciate it. I told them I love all the stuff that I got. And I did, and I got some good look and stuff. Where the hell am I gonna wear it high? The way I keep my cold, my wife said you have some clothes that You got when we were dating. And oh, by the way, I've been married to my wife for 28 years now, so we were date no long time ago, and he might be right. There might be a shirt or two that I moved out of the closet today that I did have when my wife and I were dating anyway, I had so much stuff that that's what I did today before I started watching football or any NBA or anything else. I redid my whole closet. And the people of Good. Well, I've got to be thanking me now. I don't know if there's a goodwill store for what if there is one, we've been driving different. My house. Um I get enough. Which opened today, But there are a bunch of very trustable, trustworthy bins where you go drop off. Clothes that I know goodwill picks up in our neighborhood in our town s. I did that today. And I had to take three separate trips from the trunk of my car to get all the stuff into the goodwill. That's how much stuff I recycled today. Some of it was still pretty damn nice One pair of shoes. I must have gotten them for free. Somebody must have given him to me once they kind of look like referee fuse. I never born once They've been in a box in my class. I was clean out the closet. I came across him. I didn't even know I Adam if I had if I knew it one time I had long since forgotten aside to a way I parachute didn't throw away gave to goodwill. A pair of shoes that I Never put on my feet, but a whole bunch shirts and pants and everything else. Um, my wife actually bought me 32 ways. Now here's one that I know for sure. I gave away a whole para bunch pants today with over 38 waist. And she hadn't bought me 32. Yet. He had been down to buying the 30 Fours which were also a little loose fitting and she said We're gonna try 30 twos. I tried 30 twos and 32 55. S so you're Julie has new. I am a well outfitted talk show host. Not that you would know, Because I'm just coming through the miracle of the radio and hopefully this pandemic. Some point gets cured and we can actually get back to going outside and seeing people and going to work and running into folks. I get a new look and new outfits. As a matter of fact, hit me up. I'm a telephone lines. You got to number 855 to 1 to 4 to 27 Rob from Lenox, Mass up on CBS Sports Radio. Oh, yeah. All right, Robbie. Surely. How are how are you doing? How is yours? Mine? Mother Pomelo. Hopefully, yours was too. Yeah. How's your pop? You know, I thought of you today when I was watching they had on the MLB network to broadcast of Tom Seaver's 300 games. So it's amazing the guy when a complete games you ever see that happen? I got to talk about the next tonight. Not much of late. Yeah, I got to talk about the Knicks and I got to talk about the NBA in general. I mean, I understand. They brought Tom Thibodeau and and let's look at this team. I mean, Tonight, R. J. Barrett, one of 14. We don't see Toby and we don't see quickly. They went and got Chris Paul in Phoenix. Why can't the next draft the point guard and the other thing is, I am so tired of watching three point shots. Where the hell that coaches get off. Just telling players just chucking three. There's no posting. There's no defense. Nobody can check. They need to get rid of this zone defense in the MBA, bring back Man command defense, and it's just awful to watch all this is just one on one play, chucking three's. Why can't coaches teach real basketball anymore? Jodie? What if we've done what we taught these guys? I mean, Red Holzman's rolling over in his grave. What are we teaching? These kids have a place Come back down to earth we meet Bob. Come on. Earth. They need to stop playing zone in the NBA. Do you know how often they play Zone in the N B a a lot. Head full of possessions. Ah, game at best, and some teams don't ever play zone. So anything you need to pay better attention when the game's Iran because you can't possibly make a statement like they got to stop playing zone in the NBA. Wouldn't nobody play zone in the NBA to one of the stand around watching guys Whether they loosely stand around the court. Why don't they box out properly? Why can't guys hard fellow anymore? Why don't they hand checking? It doesn't look like they're playing man to man. It looks like they're standing around and just watching stuff. I mean, And the Knicks are just all they do is chuck threes, and there's no answer for any posting. Why would they post in the NBA? You know? Well, you know what else? Chuck's threes to Golden State warriors? The lake and you know what they do, They win championships has to pull over the other team's best. If you see three passes in the sequence of 24 seconds, you're lucky. In this game. I mean, why I appreciate it. Thanks for checking in. You're never gonna get what you want back and it doesn't seem like you want to be one of those guys. It was gonna Learned to adapt and change The days of Red Holzman, As you stated are done, They're gone. They're not coming back. The N B A isn't going to go back to being a half court screen away Pick for a guy who doesn't have the ball league. It's not happening. They're not going to play up close. In French of all the players are just too fast, athletic and could jump through the roof so you can't play certain defense is you have to be able to rotate guys from position to position because Players can just go by guys. They're too fast with the basketball guys cannot stop people from getting by them, so you have to be able to play. Team defense, sometimes good and sometimes aren't the next aren't good, innit? The next huge threes and they don't have good three shooters three point shooters. Now that's a problem. You want.

"Worked with it for now it's down in Nashville these big giants fans we check this out and then probably curses us when we talk about how bad the giants have been the last couple of years hi he sent me a link to the Magic Johnson documentary that ESPN did a few years back is called the announcement I guess it was in two thousand twelve so the number years ago but I it was it wasn't necessarily about all the teams that does you know magic one with but it was more about him and now saying that he was H. I. H. I. yeah yeah yes so I do I do not remember that but they did end up making a documentary about that is there is a sort of a hokey thing now that I'm thinking about it but it just popped in my head those things that like you know a solo close to doing an overnight shelter to get phone calls but it just popped in my head is there a team that has not had a documentary about them made that you would have liked to see a documentary about that made that now we're seeing the Chicago Bulls and this run in the last dance and Jordan is there one out there that you say man you know I what I wish I knew more about that particular team I wish they would make a documentary about that team I mean was there would have to be it would have to be a team that you know had multiple championships like the seventies Steelers right yeah yeah they mean the steel curtain I mean that I mean it with a vat interesting though were or they dominate because I feel like the the interesting thing was like arts or Terry Bradshaw and him being labeled as a doll me early on and also have a team basically couldn't win with him alone it was all about the defense and he would get a bunch of crap in our member you get like sap for Terry hand ready early on his career and all those things in his relationship with Chuck Noll but was there was there a lot there outside of that because they were just guys were asking like a Lamborghini handed mean Joe Greene you go on and on now blunt metal no if and I'm sure I'm sure there've been dot stuff done like you know the eighty the eighty five bears and you know that that whole team which you make yeah and in those lunatics I mean this is a lot of different teams out there that you could point to the question good thing about that the bulls that that six championships and this is really only one season but it also got into the history of Michael Jordan and Isaiah Thomas which anywhere there's conflict like this I think is that's what makes it interesting yeah yeah I I wanna see one now especially with the tragic passing of Kobe Bryant I like to go you know back in depth with the Shaq Kobe teams those Laker teams with failed and that yes that was the one yes that would be one I definitely want to see and I'm sure there was a thirty for thirty along the way with that nineties cowboys there had two of them something on that but that would have been an interesting one too well the other does the the other interesting thing about this is that it's Michael Jordan you don't really hear much from Michael Jordan we all remember this my generation remembers him and a lot of the younger kids today know who we is there no issues they know is Jordan brand but maybe they really never watched him or one back to watch him so watching some of the footage and how he played was is the other thing that's so impressive in all of this and while while we all just casually say there's the greatest basketball player of all time when you go back and you watch and how they played back then and what he had to go through with the pet the pistons when there were the bad boys just how badly they beat him up in those playoff series it also remind you just how tough he was yeah and another thing that's just so striking and I've seen a lot of analysis with this is there was just no three pointers and he barely shot three pointers Jordan I mean he was just everybody was jumpshot service flying around the ram or you know I was just sort of amazing how he played the game as opposed to how the game is played today you know you have the next had a point guard that would drive the lane the way that he used to drive the line and be able to hit the open guy and we actually had a guy that can hit an outside shot that that's something that's been missing in NYC basketball since Jeremy Lin for that those two weeks yeah we had two weeks of Jeremy Lin we haven't had anything remotely close to that twenty years yeah you're right I mean and one of the interesting parts of the first four episodes was when you know he was after still I mean the you know Doug Collins was everything was for Jordan is like we just had to have G. M. J. have the ball the entire time that's ever gonna win but it still came in and said no you don't and you don't have to do that you know you there's other guys on the team so then that's when Jordan found John Paxson and he was at nolo shops and they realize that if there's an open guy was an open guy and that's the way that we're gonna win the championship so even the best of the best I have to learn how to play eighteen games well this is why I always like lebron and the way the Brahm place you know and lebron early on in his career everybody we criticize me is not taking the last shot is not taking the last shot well because he's got three guys draped all over him and he's thrown into his teammate I mean I get that's what you're supposed to do that's where the game is supposed to be played if you if you talked red Holzman read our back or any other great coach Pat Riley yeah it's one thing they have great players but what you want to have is you really want have great synergy amongst your players and what you really need in the NBA's you need a superstar like Michael Jordan Patrick Ewing you know I would even say Isaiah Thomas and and Magic Johnson and Larry Bird and of course lebron that understand that that you know everything runs for you yes but you have to kind of bring everybody along with you and get everybody involved and when you start becoming truly unselfish is when your teammates really start to respect you because they believe that you believe in them and I think that's really what Michael brought to the Chicago Bulls yeah give me the ball go get the shot when you need it but you know what I'm going to distribute the ball as well so I I would think his teammates not only loved him for what he did as a player himself but how he also involved his teammates was like Magic Johnson Larry Bird used to do Joe in the Bronx was talks in Jordan what's going on Joe what's up guys how's everybody feeling everybody good yeah everybody and what's happened with you table that everybody's healthy thank god but listen arguably Michael Jordan is the greatest band will play a full time or not I mean you'll you'll see what he can and I was fortunate up to walk with him and easy way to have you back everybody around them that much better because you get the ball that much I put you know what you want to live there yeah I think it's only converts are Michael will use it it back down but just so and that's what people do know that the only post about Michael yeah I mean that you that in the gambling if those things are connected I mean of course and and apparently all those questions are going to be asked I don't know if we're going to be satisfied with the answer is but nothing apparently was off limits for the producers of this event director in the people asking the questions so you know those questions will be asked and or or warrants rather we are going to see the answer is I just don't know if the conspiracy theorists out there going to be satisfied with the answers that they here I mean I wouldn't imagine that you know Michael's gonna say yeah you know I would some people some money and then that's how this happened I don't I don't think that you're going to hear that but at least we'll hear Michael Jordan address those particular things which he has not in his life before well you know it's amazing to me that it's taken what twenty one twenty two years for this stuff to a merge yeah right I mean that's that's the other amazing aspect of this in and for those of us like I said that grew up in this this kind of you know this time in basketball where he was such a flamboyant figure and and just everybody gravitated to him to kind of relive all of that is what also is interesting about this I you know just watching it and just I feel like it's live all over again yeah yeah I I do I do agree with that part I mean I I don't know if this is true or not but I kind of feel like back van you know we didn't want to hear anything negative about Michael Jordan now I was someone who was a Knicks fan was tortured by those bulls teams and I was old enough to know what was going on obviously but I always had this healthy respect for Michael Jordan I just remember every time I got the ball I would just be screaming in our house but I mean he was he was just so he was so great I was alive Knicks fans I can't stand him because he stood in the way of great Knicks teams as far as getting the finals and championships and all that but I also feel like you know we're more of a society now that likes to tear down than we did back then I'm not saying it didn't exist but I I feel like maybe the reason why it didn't come out for all those years is like there were so many people that love Michael Jordan so much or so protective of him being a superstar in a hero to so many of its like we do I don't hear that like I don't have some negative with Michael Jordan like I don't want to hear that I wanted to get him you know crying with the Larry o'brien trophy I want to thank him in space jam I wanna think of him you know doing mixed McDonald's commercial and that's that's what I want to see with Michael Jordan I don't think about anything negative with him well the other the other criticism of him would be from the black community that he wasn't political enough that he didn't push his agenda is or their agendas more and was a more open about that and I remember he he said I had a quote you know Republicans buy sneakers too which I think is apropos which I understood he did not back then we were not political we did not get involved in things the today on social media it's easy to be political it's easy for athletes to put out their political opinions any which way that they want to and I I actually think in some cases athletes are really pressured to do that nowadays as opposed to back then it was you be the athlete will be the politician now because of social media because you're able to get your voice out and your voice heard any which way you want I think there is a different expectation from the athletes today than there were back in the eighties and nineties and even if yes it was well but that's so true and I always hated that criticism of athletes who didn't want to get involved politically I it's it's it's not something that has to be expected view just because you have that platform I mean I I never I never really understood a where is this guy in this particular issue me Tiger Woods got a lot of active where is he on this thing I mean I no the the these guys were were great competitors that want to win championships they were they were building up their brands they were making a ton of money and and you know it's it's something that sure I mean their voice could go a long way but it's not something that you know it has to be done I believe I believe it's their life and their commitment to their greatness with in their sport that they played is what truly meant most to them I mean that's what they're fighting for they were fighting to become great in what they did you know now they wanted to be a civil rights leader they want to run for governor they want to run for president and they could do that if they wanted to but that's not what they wanted to do with their life what they want.

"Of nativism Riverdale but just a goal for the next second I I I you know I back Maggie as opposed to lose even though I still love you because the Knicks are just a plain collection of garbage what what Frazier has in his pinky the whole team doesn't have collectively red Holzman what he has in his pinky Poland doesn't have an ID bring in the ownership is garbage I I have cable I only watch then exposed then I watch will it work the last time I watched him with the watch opposing it yeah you know I went to bill Bradley Babe the butcher big one that the world Frasier Oman role will was read the compared to two teams here it's like it's one of our hike up and listen to your comments no one no one here in those next teams in this one we're talking about error is a basketball on how physical the game was as compared to where the physicality and how it's gone out of the game now that was the point that I was making I was not comparing the next that won an NBA championship to the next team of two thousand nineteen two thousand twenty and nobody's gonna make that comparison in any way shape or form so the point being is what's allowed and what's within the guidelines of what's not allowed what's the unwritten rule and what Jay Crowder didn't listen as mentioned before there's no disagreement everything that Maggie said is correct I don't disagree with anything that Maggie seven terms of an X. pathetic performance I just don't agree with what jae Crowder did at the end of the game either well there's also a lot with class I think you could win with style I don't think you necessarily have to rub it into your opponent's face up eighteen offer steel two steps back attempt to three there's no place for right but then it's like there's there's another side to that too would like chicken of the egg the you can also lose with with class you know you can you can see a crowd or did that you can turn your back and say you know what we do we got so many bigger problems than jae Crowder right now you know we're not even going to give him like the satisfaction or whatever there there's there's both sides that I think about Crowder though is he is one of those guys most where you hate it when you're playing against somebody probably love on when he's a teammate he does have that they're really going to be a correctly and and like you he's not the most talented guy you know he's really done that off of like Hassel and all four of you know being that that guy in getting under people's skin and he obviously did that last night with his with his move at the end I mean there's one thing again underneath somebody skin there's another thing I mean you know in in in pushing somebody's buttons know how to get the best of them know how to get them off their game there of guys that have been instigators that was not an instigator move last night that was just a classless will think there's a little bit of a difference while looking jae Crowder that doesn't define you what what when I look at jae Crowder is a player and wise hung around being a gritty player be a little bit of an instigator get under your skin understand what he needs to do to order to be successful he's a smart player he's limited in terms of talent but he's been a really good and bees bad or good NBA career last I thought was a low class list out what your cell for two weeks I wrote the next going to take and I wrote at that stage as well they were frustrated bunch of their target knocked around their effort should clearly been better but I don't think there's any place for crowded it you know I I thought the whole brain dead was classes I don't think you push a guy like that and the chance to push him down I know you know Stephen Jackson said it would've been worse there would have been you know a straight a brawl but I don't know but when you push a guy like that if the person like that to the ground maybe I mean I've never I've never read usually in favor of of that kind of thing Johnson sand island John what's up good morning yeah I have two quick points I really don't see the game while you watch the couple minutes I did see the end of that one the Knicks got a clean house they can I think today I keep maybe five or six guys get booted up GM's and start all over and so they as bill Parcells once about teams wanting up scores and we know what he says he goes to the polls if you want to stop if you don't want to miss school at top and show some pride played the front and the next other they don't do this well they certainly didn't do last night and that's a good quote from from Parcells and the like I just think it's common courtesy but everything you say that I mean the next cleaning house you hope that does does happen you hope that they're able to get better leadership at the top develop talent bring in a better coach clean the staff out but really starts from the top when you look at James Dolan and you look at it what he his impact on this basketball team more so than than really the hockey team because he has a professional hockey just like a lot of people in the city so he leaves the hockey team alone and Gordon Davidson are able to do their thing and they were able to tear it down and build it back up once again and the Rangers are on the rise you look at this Nick team they've been in this constant sense of rebuild rebuild rebuild waiting for the messiah to walk through the door and amici is not walking through the door to be a free agency it's not a great idea to you know finally get into tank mode in the year when they fled the NBA lottery odds it's just not a great strategy well I did it well one of the strategy would you like there's better ways to build the team which was well I mean I can tell you about it the one thing I thought they should have done this year particularly which was when you were in this rush to sign free agents after you lost out on the big fish don't maybe sign yourself all the way up to the salary cap leave a little flexibility so that if if he wants to get rid of a bad contract perhaps they'd like to attach a draft pick to that you could take on that bad contract consider the team's going nowhere and then you get another asset for something like that could have been pretty smart guys are friends a town fair tire remind you that town fair tire you always get the guaranteed lowest price on name brand tires from Connecticut to Maine nobody beats sound fair tire nobody if you did not hear what it sounded at the sound of like at the garden last night with a chance of sell the team we will play that for you next don't go anywhere Mousa Maggie with you out of it this is Barbara signs over the radio dot com sports minute today's birthday shout out goes to "And, you know, you want to titles in Golden State, and now he's got to decide where he wants to go and Durant, that frenzy has died down even with the achilles injury that used to be career ending when you got the achilles injury players like this. Don't change teams very often, but coming up in a week or so Kevin Durant could be on the move and older, the course of NBA history once again, like he did when he left, Oklahoma City to go to Golden State, and there's a lot of possibilities here. A lot of speculation here Vegas, by the way has the nets as the favorites for Kevin Durant quietly have become the favorites. Kevin durant. And maybe that's in part to a lot of the speculation on Kyrie Irving kyri. It looks like could end up with the nets and because of that friendship there that you get Kyrie. Now, I don't want kyri Irving. But if you're the nets in, when's the last time you said, boy, the nets are tops on the list to get a free agent. Okay. It's been a long time same with the Knicks, but who would have thought that the nets would be a more desirable destination than Madison Square Garden. But that's where we are. You know it's a new NBA and these younger players. They have no recollection of what the garden used to be like, when it was Rockin. You know, they don't have any idea of CLYDE, Frazier and dick Barnett, Dave Buscher Bill, Bradley Willis Reed red Holzman, they have. No, they don't care even Bernard king as wonderful as he was Alan Houston, even Patrick, you. And it doesn't mean anything to these kids, and they are kids. Ads and you have ownership that we look at. And sometimes, you know, you think these players even know who the owner is do they care about James Dolan, their agents care, their agents job is to say, who, are you in good hands? If you go to the Knicks, and as much as I love David phys, Dale, I don't know, if you'd be in good hands going to the Knicks. I don't know because history says you wouldn't be and maybe Kevin Durant is looking at the nets. You're a little bit out of that, glare that spotlight. Because if you go to the Knicks they're waiting for you to be a savior. You go to the nets. Nobody's saying, hey, you gotta be a savior and Kevin Durant is going to be down for a year. And then you got kyri of you get Kyrie there. All right. You've got and that's a good roster. If you don't have to give up that roster. But if you lose the ngelo Russell, you get kyri in there, you wait a year for Kevin Durant. But the sign and trade that would be my big concern here, because who, are you trading to get Kevin Durant? If he leaves? Yes, mclovin, if you're the Knicks, the hot question, are you sure you aren't Kevin Durant, because you have such a young team he's going to miss next year..

"Rich Eisen sitting at home. Staten Island, New York, turn onto television. We saw a man who looked a lot like I'll be honest. A rabbi standing. On a stage in New York City. He wants was a kid with a dream to. Maybe it was a dream to be the Commissioner of the National Basketball Association. He was living out his dreams names. David stern. David Stern was standing. There. Looked like a little bit of a setup again back in my day show called bowling for dollars bowling for dollars. Which was actually taped nearby Madison Square Garden. Were you bowl for dollars? And you would pick something called a pin pal. Oh when you were bowling for dollars. You would just you would just take this large terrain filled with these envelopes and filled with cards new just roll around as they they rolled around this terrain, and you would pick out a pin pal somebody from invariably queens or the Bronx or somewhere in New York City, and you would both dollars for them as well. And it just looked like the same thing except inside. We're not pen pals. It was a Powell that we all wanted to have as our lifelong friends back in the days in New York knick fans, we wanted to be friends BFF's forever. And I know that's redundant with Patrick Ewing. The day may nineteenth nineteen eighty five. That was the day with David Stern reached his hand into the do we call it a Torino want is this this large plastic circle. Bigs fear fear sphere of life. Yes. Fear of basketball life for franchise would struggled since the Bradley. Days the CLYDE Frazier as the Willis Reed days. Yes. The Phil Jackson days kids fill used to be good for the Knicks. The red Holzman days they were long gone by may nineteenth nineteen eighty five. Sure there were some bursts of activity in the garden chair. There were some great moments Bernard king one of my favorite players of all time. You know, there were there were glimmers Huby Brown. Yes. Kids long before we sit next to Mark Jones telling you about the paint and all that sort of stuff on ESPN news head coach and the New York knickebocker handed area painted area. Pardon meer? May nineteenth nineteen eighty-five. David Stern put his hand in that terrain sphere pulled out envelopes, real ping, pong balls kids era, envelopes, white envelopes, and he took one out and he put it underneath the number seven. What do you put under number one? I don't remember which one. And he put another one under number six under number five hundred number four hundred number three number two and number one. And yes back in that day. Just seven teams were in the draft lottery tonight. I can't even count how many draft lottery. And the lottery had no ping pong balls. It was just David Stern grabbing his hand jammed and in there taking an envelope out and putting it down underneath a number. And then one by one. Opening up the envelopes open, the envelopes. One by one they would be opened. And sure enough the last envelope to be open the New York knickerbockers. And the BFF of Patrick Ewing came to New York City, and it was phenomenal. Now, I don't know how Koby envelope was for all you conspiracy. It they're out there all this nonsense. Only two questions David Stearns might have been banked a little bit excuse me, bent, whole if they put the viewing envelope in the freezer as so many conspiracy theorists said and said that David Stern had to make sure that the coldest envelope e touched was underneath the number one. You've never touched co things in your life because it cold things in your life. Normally make other things around cold with the exception of the air conditioning unit in my destination wedding hotel..

"On ESPN couple of things we have been going these great. And so is Mark Mark is not he's he's never prisoner of the moment. He's not one that is subject to hyperbole understand. I know you do but Mark Jackson played from nineteen eighty-seven until two thousand four he played three decades in the NBA. He's tough time says that's the thing. Yup. Play four years at Saint John's at that point is Richard histories, anybody went to the final four play with a bunch of first round picks on that team, Molly cetera. Now when you born in the sixties, and you grow up in New York the team that you're watching you watching CLYDE Frazier. You're watching Willis Reed Bill, Bradley. You're watching Earl Monroe when they acquire him for the second championship. You're watching red Holzman or you bleed not one of the top ten. I don't wanna put him top ten coaches. Maybe not five top ten coaches of all time. His. Basketball database is as extensive as anybody that. I know so for Mark to say that I'm gonna give it as much respect as I would give anybody and say, he's totally wrong. Why totally not why because it's just incredibly premature and it's really unfair. I know he throws the asterik if he stays healthy, it's unfair to Embiid. It's unfair to and I don't think he's trying to make it home for them. It's an interesting observation opinion, but why it's unfair to Joel Embiid joylin bead. I I'm trying to figure out his drive, right? There's certain guys who you come into a league doesn't matter if it's basketball and be or NFL or what baseball, and you can clearly see that their desire is to be the greatest ever, right? It's it's what they're singularly focused on. It's the only thing they think about something. They talk about not playing around doing social media and doing any of that's dumb. Mike trout is a perfect example. You could tell he wants to be the best that ever was. Was and he echinacea and he and he does that every single time. He comes to the ballpark. And I don't know if that's the case with Joel Embiid. Maybe it is maybe it is. But I don't know for certain the Joel Embiid wants to be at the top of the list, Mark Jackson, whereas referring to. However, I don't think it's unfair for Mark Jackson to say that Joel Embiid can be that. Because if you look at his skill set. He absolutely can he's he's certainly more dynamic than than we'll see not maybe not going to see well made more damage than Kareem was the better athletes below. I'd never saw wilt. So I can't even I can't even comment assume what was ridiculously heads in. He'll love back generation check. And it's kind of hard to compare will question. Question wasn't playing anyone even close to what they look like him. When it is. Joel Embiid can shoot the three. He's he can he can he has moves in the paint like like Keene did not as great as as as the dream shake, but he could do things like that foul shooter. He's a really good shooter. He's he's he's he can don't come. He plays crate defense as you see that five blocks last night you motion guys at the rim. And he's difference maker everywhere. Now, I don't think he's ever going to score as many points as Kareem. He's not gonna have thirty seven thousand points because it's never gonna go through him in the NBA is only going to continue to push farther away from the pain. So offensively he'll he'll be limited. But I think impact wise don't bead is impressive. Is there is that you've seen in a long time for a big, man? I mean true center, he's not he's not like the hybrid. You know what? I mean. He's not like he's not like, Tim Duncan Tim four. Exactly, right. That's exactly right. Okay. Impact? What have they done? What what what's the impact that? I've missed nothing. Nothing happens with one guy in in basketball. Specially not twenty nineteen you know in. We'll stay. Yeah. It could be willed each one hundred points in a game. You're gonna win a few games just telling you, right? That's not happening anymore. That basketball is so much more of a team oriented game. You can look at the Toronto Raptors their opponent. Last night is probably the best player on the on the court. Right. It's still got beat by what twenty and twenty three or whatever it was. So it's like, it's not a one-man sport. And we just finished detail in how the process was supposed to bring all this talent. Right. The failed. You know? It was the guy's name Anthony. Who did they draft in the first round Anthony much? Can't remember who it was? But anyways, the Marquel full of the world like they they've had all of these guys. Yeah. That was a trade draft. There was a bunch of them that just didn't work at Michael Carter Williams won rookie of the year yesterday. Julia local obviously coming out of do that didn't work out. I mean, there's a lot of swing and misses frankly you and I could have done a better job. I the process we could have actually spent the process up for you. So yes, he has one yet. But look what look what's the organization has done even helped all here they are in the Eastern Conference semifinals and just had a dominating win and gets a team a lot of people thought we're better than them free days ago. But we'd also have to be able to go back, and whether it's you know, Korean will Russell shack Hakim, Moses you and David what we'd have to actually go back to for this to be not that we'll do this on the air necessarily. It would be probably a little bit too to micro TD's little bit even though I would probably enjoy it. But it's I understand this probably not going to fly on. We're not going to do that today. But I think you'd have to go through every single aspect of every other player that we would list inside the top ten and have a. Sense of of what they were surrounded by how their GM and what team ownership did to properly insulate them because we can't you say, well, what of the Sixers really truly done for. Joel Embiid and not apply that to the other guys who are clearly have had a head of him at this point he'd have to factor that in and again, you know, if you want to do that on your own, you can certainly do that some of you know, that whatever. But I'm very curious how you the basketball fan reacts to that kind of a comment, you know, kind of thing where maybe have your laptop. Maybe you have something else on your kids run around talking to you. Why what what what did he say DVR that? He just say what I think he said or you went Mark Jackson, or or you with Jeff Van Gundy..

"You set for the back-to-back NBA shabby. This. Here's the countdown to tip off on KNB. Our sports leader. This is Andrew bogut. He's back on the court students of free throws. He's starting tonight, not always Adria bogut playing tonight. Steve is starting Andrew bogut against the Spurs. Demarcus cousins is out the good news DeMarcus cousins that an MR and his ankle, and it did come back clean. So he is a day to day. Kevin Durant is also back with that ankle. So that has all good news. That injury report. It's brought to you in part by Stanford healthcare official team physicians for the warriors. Does that surprise you that bogut starting tonight? Little bit. But again that is with the guy who's going to be out there with Ezekiel starting as well. I mean, let me look at the lineup here. Hang on because it'd be was that'd be all this all four guys who started with that'd be wild. I mean. Yeah, it'd be like a back to the future but only four years ago, and if they did that the probe movie would be that good. But. Yeah. I mean, if he's starting the nears four guys that he's did he's played with Durant's back healthy. So you've got dream on Durant Klay Steph and in bogut. So okay. So three of the guys still that he started with so. Yeah, actually green so defensively. They'll know what they're doing surprising because he knows again, he knows the place it come. Have come in and have to learn jojoba lot thought like they're running a ton of plays anyway, and they're not asking him to do much but set screens for guys rebound, though. Probably one thing you'll probably see them do is throw it into the post occasionally to him with the idea of passing doing split cuts off of it back cuts off of it. And that's that's probably his best attribute offensively as his passing ability. Like, he's really really good passer. And that was that was one of the things that when they had him and Draymond plan for five. They had a tremendous passing duo now DeMarcus can pass to but DaMarcus also looking to score the ball will stick in his hands occasionally because he does want us horn make moves if you cut immediately you get the ball. I mean, he will he's gonna find you. So it'll be interesting though, it'd be interesting to know that he's playing good. I know good shape, but you still miss, you know, I it's been a it's been a year or so. Away from the NBA. And it wasn't like he was getting a ton of time the last year so in the NBA, and it's been a little bit of a while since he's been with the the warriors. So I'm looking forward to it. I I it'd be it'd be a game. I'd wanna watch anyway because it Spurs in warriors and Spurs playing wall. So I'd wanna watch it anyway. But the fact that Bogues coming back and he's starting and he's playing did. Yeah. It's kind of a cool thing. As far as the Spurs are concerned they've won eight in a row. And look, I don't know if this is pops best coaching job. But it's it's up there. The Marta rose in his plan while he's averaging twenty one six a game a little bit more. Well rounded game these the past lamarcus Aldridge over twenty then you drop off to Rudy gay fourteen point one. Remember they've had point guard issues of Forbes's their Belen Eli's over a double digits, Derek Whyte as played well Patty is still there around. But I mean, you look at this this thing, I'll go Saul is now with Milwaukee, you look at this thing top to bottom, and there's a lot. There's a team. Teams that are a lot less talented than the what the Spurs are doing a lot less and yet here we are again in the Spurs are going to be a playoff team in for twenty two consecutive years. Now, they will not have a losing record. That's amazing. Well, look pops the the best coach in the NBA is one of the top handful of coaches that have ever coached in in the NBA you start you start going down the list of great coaches in the NBA. I think you probably gonna start with our Bach. That's we start the ones I think of going back. Boy, Phil Jackson's going to be there, Pat Riley, the in my mind is is going to be there. Boy who else is back there yet red Holzman. I dunno feet Sharman enough about the the older guys are kicked all their asses. Anyway, so he which is killing everybody back back then, but it in in our era to me, it's Jackson and Riley in pop in. I don't know were were put pop in that group of and they're all fantastic, fantastic coaches. The thing that I always say about pop that really stands out to me is he's won over a long period of time. And he's one being chips in different areas with different teams and different styles. So it's not just one way that he can get it done. A he he can figure out a way to get it done. You can figure out where the league's going and he'll beat everyone to that punch. You know, I always compare even. In football. They'd just reminds me a lot of each other. Military backgrounds and guys won over long. Periods of time guys that have won doing different ways. So pop is just incredible. So it doesn't surprise me that he's able to have able to have success and find guys the like you like who white who Forbes who is like these guys come in. And then and then they play well for, but I mean, he does have two guys to Rovan Aldridge that are really really good players. So it's not like the devoid of talent and then Rudy gays again, it's been illegal longtime and scored a lot of buckets in this league. So they've always been in my mind a dangerous team, dude. Would I fear them in a seven game playoff? Now. They just don't have enough guys. They just don't they could win a game may maybe to maybe. But I just did they don't have enough to beat the beat the warriors. So when it comes to like, the eight seed it's like, oh who is the team that they're there? The seat for reason they could be good, but they're an eight seed and they're playing like historically good team. So to me, it doesn't matter. Utah. Doesn't matter San Antonio doesn't matter clippers doesn't matter like those are teams that are good teams. But you're talking about tried to unseat the the words, and it would take something incredible to happen. I I would like watching San Antonio and the warriors playing in the first round of the playoffs. It might be somewhat challenging gab. I'd be a little tough. Yeah. But pop burst, Steve and the Spurs vs warriors at that would be it'd be fun basketball too. 'cause they both play a fun style a ball. So that it aesthetically pleasing as well. All right warriors and the Spurs countdown to tip off Tolbert and Lund coming up next. We'll give you the the x factor of tonight's game. Plus, there's an interesting comment from Markeith Morris. So we, of course, the the thunder and the warriors played over the weekend. And he had something interesting to say about the words, I wonder if you agree we'll get into that stuff. Coming up next only here on these sports leader..

So what an for the warriors to go down to the Phoenix Suns who go into Oakland and shocked the world with that w last night it I mean, there's so many old gen stats coming off of all of that. It's their fourth win in their last five games. Do they not know the Zion? Williamson is up for the drafting, we're all Suming kids going to be all right at some point. That is not how you tank Phoenix out. How you if you want to know how to tank all you need to do is cast your eyes upon Madison Square Garden, the world's most famous tank right now. Knicks tankan Abe lost six in a row. They lost the Sacramento Kings on Saturday night and their owner. Their owner has his finger directly on the pulse of how to piss everybody off even more because there is no worst owner in all of sports than one James Dolan, as we all know, it's a trigger effect for me. Lifelong Nick fan. Born in Brooklyn raised in Staten Island fell in love with them in the seventies. Just wanna go over my bona fides in case, you're just joining us for some reason fell in love with him in the seventies on the back end of red Holzman tenure missed the whole glory years. But. Grew up in Madison Square Garden, Bernard king, my favorite Nick of all time. Patrick Ewing being drafted by the next. We'll never forget. I was in my parents, blue safari station wagon hearing the news, I believe on ten ten wins after traffic and weather together..

"So basically, we owe it all to junior here's Rondo on how his son prepared him for the game. Sports tonight. So. Understand what's going on. All right. So we got on sportscenter fun times for them. And they shared a special moment. The Lakers end up winning this one twenty nine to one twenty eight more in the game from these guys. About that moment to be back here in the garden, and we wanna championship or sleep. You know, so many memories of being here for him to get his hands on the ball at that moment. And I'll be able to knock it down. It was a the perfect ending. I mean, serious heat Rondos. He's an incredible basketball players incredible person. He's got his son in here with them before the game. And you can see how much love he has for this city and being in this building for him not get down for me and Laker fans beautiful ending typically. The Lakers buzzer beaters in Boston. Reserve for special lore in one thousand nine hundred seven Magic Johnson made that running jumper for one. Fifteen one fourteen win at the old Austin garden hall of famers on the floor, by the way, then that shot was made. And then in one thousand nine hundred five decades of torture at the old Boston Garden the Lakers played their final game in that building. And Mick van all. No. But we got hall of fame around here, though, let's say. Out. Say that famous my boy cut the hall of fame. Okay. We've been talking all day about AD. And the fact that obviously he didn't make it to the Lakers. So what happens now if you've got any control over the situation would you play. Anthony would just would because I mean, I think differently than a lot of people might think in today's day and age last time, I check he's still getting paid last time. I checked the plenty of teams that go out on court knowing that there's no chance of them making the playoffs pretty early in the season. You take the next thing. They're going to the players. Chicago Bulls think they're going into the playoffs along left rove other teams. So why bother plane, you know, why? Because the fans show up to be detained you one of the top five players in the world, you getting paid twenty five million dollars this year. You don't sit a man down who is healthy and can go out there and perform and put on the show just because you know, he's not going to be a part of your future as as as red Holzman, a former coach of champion New York. Knicks did in the nineteen seventies. He said quote, excuse me. They're your guys until they're not. And that's how it should be viewed. And that's how I think it should be looking. Okay. I agree with you. I think you should play. I'm like what is he playing? I run. Make sure that needs to stay here. We'll let me ask you this question. Should he be? Yeah. So he should be paid. But not playing in other words, so in other words, even playing business again, if it's a business what about the business side of things in terms of Europe..

"Mets fans want the latest Mets news, then keep it here for Ed Coleman's Mets reports from port Saint Lucie, beginning February thirteenth here on your flagship station for new baseball fan sports radio one zero one nine FM sports radio sixty six WFAN and WFAN FM New York. Two twenty. State of the union last night. Eight seven seven hundred thirty seven sixty six sixty six one of our guests was featured their prominently from a few weeks back Hector in Washington. Ten. We're doing a closer. Right. Okay. Yeah. Again, we just do it on the fly produced some on the year. Hector what's up? Being paid. I really want to talk about the. What changes the whole thing chair, drives me crazy? And I think the media will kind of to blame by the whole social media. What do we have? One hundred catch anything because. Three. Great superstar. He's going to say the Knicks, and he's full of it. And demanding these crazy thing saying the other guys quarterback sucks and this and that and then we wonder why? I think is with. Right before that. I would I would take the pitcher. I can deal with. Like, the twenty second cloud the three guys and people complaining about the manager. Hello, whatever analytics department have taken over right? So. That. The game. I I I like that. Yeah. Hector good good points though booth. Let's even talk about like, the entitlement that you're basically talking about of athletes in today's athletes to I think it starts just so early. You know, I think it starts way earlier than that. Then when they finally get to the pros right recruit them early. Yeah. And I think that you know, I just think that the. The way that sports has gone. There's a specialization that happens really early. And I think anyone who's driving around or listening to us right now. He's got kids would understand that kind of pressure. If your kids shows it aptitude for something you want to kind of push them in that direction. Or do you feel like you have to push them in that direction? Arrows they'll be behind. And then I think that now scouting, quote unquote has become so refined that we could almost tell who's going to be good when they're like twelve or thirteen years old, and especially a basketball because you can cherry pick your team, right? You can go play different AAU teams. You can decide where you want to go to college wanted done. I'm sure there's pressure that comes in different parts. But ultimately, you make that decision if you're really good and for a guy like Kristaps Porzingis. I think what people don't understand is. This is a guy who left his home when he was fifteen years old to go play professional basketball. If you think this is his first rodeo, or this is the first time he's dealt with management or the first time he's dealt with sticky situations contract was then you're you're. Fooling yourself. This is someone who whether he played his hand or overplayed, it it doesn't matter. He was taking. He was the Knicks were trying to take control, and he was trying to wrestle it away from that. Right. And I think for some guys we applaud that in for other guys malign them. I think it's how how we wanna look at it. Whether we deem this guy worthy of asking for stuff, or whether we deem him worthy or whether we feel like he's earned it, right? Because when I think I think for you. And I are argument with Porzingis was what does he done Indra the injury messed up his narrative, if you will continue to have the season that he had before he would have finished strong, then you can say, okay. Well, you can't get rid of this guy. And you talk about him being a professional seasons. Fifteen over in Europe. I go to these academies and they become professional players. We look at it. Look good doctors like he's a rookie. But he's been professional for like the last five years. But what happens is now he has when your net environment. You only have a select amount of people that you can trust. And I'm sure his brother's been in his ear share ever since the entire time in his brother's. Probably. And I experienced that with my sister to boot you just call me, but you go to the hall of fame. You know, I was good. But. Actually, this doesn't relate to you in a different way of my opinion. You would up pretty bad college experience. I mean, just from your recruitment from high school to your coaches at college that was. After another. I mean, kind of like I don't want to overstep, it always kind of a traumatic experience for you that now is a is a positive story because we watched you play the NFL for eleven years. So you've got the last laugh, but it almost wasn't that way. And it was like these roadblocks get kept getting put up in your way that you had to overcome overcome say something like that happened with porzingas when he's in Europe. Right. Like, we don't know the kind of experiences that are informing his decision. Now, if you had to do college over again, there's a way you would have made the same decision, and you would have been wiser about it. Right. Yeah. Absolutely. I mean, I don't know his experience. But I do know that he has understand where he has leverage, and he doesn't have leverage. And when you're injured player miss an entire year. You're getting paid to do nothing. Then you don't have the leverage. Now, if you would have just came back kept his mouth shut not scientist inching play next year showed that he was the player that he was now advantage him because he could say, you know, what guess what I'm not resigning. What you guys, and I want to go here the next door afraid of right? So I mean, but they could have he could have waited in strongest thing. And he could he should have been a better liar. Right. Alike. No. He is his emotional the brothers trying to make power moves. They brought them not in a position for you to make power moves because they don't know how I'm going to be coming back being a tall guy ever have an ACL surgery. Let me come back show. These guys I can play advantaged deal. We're going to make sure we stick it to riches in Long Island, rich what's going on. But. Hey, you guys got pretty good. I'm calling about the Woolworth has to face batters really think that works in the nineteen you bring a reliever into start the inning. He gets a jam the bases are loaded. The high ones are on you can bring you could bring a diet interface possibly one batter or a lefty specialist. You bring them in. He gets the guy out in phase two more batters. So either of those scenarios, I don't know if that works. I think I think it's encouraging. It's taking away the specialization and the wondering if I were the players association. I would look at it this way, you want to argue that it's going to cost some jobs. I don't know that I would say that what I would say is it's going to increase the value of some of your pictures, if they're not just there to get out lefties, they're going to be worth more if they can get more people out. So I think financially that number will go up and be better for the players union. Then maybe one guy who's a lefty specialist. No fence, Jerry Blevins. And he's getting paid a million bucks a year or whatever the veteran's minimum is the ninth inning scenario. That was painted. Yes. I mean, I guess to answer your question. Yes. That's the scenario if you're closer comes in. And then I think he loads the basis than no you can't bring in your lefty specialists that would be against the rules. You have to bring in someone who's going to face minimum three batters. And you know, obviously, if you have the bases loaded in that I've been in. You're not gonna want be what putting you can't put guys on base. You have nowhere to put them. So you just have to get outs. That's where maybe you don't go to a specialist. That's where you have to go to a guy who you feel like has good splits against both sides about naked Howard beach neck. What's going on? The only way to get Anthony Davis creek from now because the off season he's going to have a lot options. Rich, Paul got LeBron. You know, what if the LeBron, but the next bite of the number one pick of the draft and continue to watch giant Williamson laid it up a great game last night. He had sixteen and seventeen rebounds. And what what can what can a Knicks offer the pelicans right now, if they don't if they don't they don't. Can I tell you what I think they can operate? Basically, I think they're going to be sitting there looking at the list of assets from both teams the Knicks already screwed them by getting those first round picks. Because now the pelicans reindeer antennas are often. They're like, hey, we need to get a bunch of first round picks to make sense and bought real quick. What have you wait New York City this year who'd coming out on top heavyweights? Well, I wanna see if wilder is gonna fight the wilder fights wanna come back, and then I wanna see Joshua fight somebody serious man come on like The Danny white kid come on, man. I want to see him fight one of these monsters. I wanna see I wanna see like the bow is still early season. You know, we can get the wilder fight at the end of the year. We can get we can get the winner of the wilder fury. Fight to see who defy Joshua was wilder fury. Again, say right now. So we're in February. Going to be fighting somebody else I e for right because it wasn't the man. But it's like all right. As do their fought last week funny man police care, I can't think of his name, but he liked way. Well, it's interesting because you think about it just from a marketing point of view, you gotta heavyweight fight. It's already February. I mean, Cinco de mayo. Now, it would be out and you want to Mexican fighter. Canola always takes that he's gonna take. Jacobs you could do September. What did you say Marashi can say it on the air the purse bid for the mandated rematch between wilder and fury been pushed back a week that was announced today. Okay. But. Timbers probably still too soon. Man. Let's see. Then you get into big fights are really in November. You have to wait again. Yeah. We're talking about here for now because it used to be Floyd used to be Floyd at had may fifth. No matter what. Now Condello has it. That's like the prime real estate. And then September you always get a good fight. Devante. Davis Mars, just had to detach retinas. So that fights been castle the next big fight on waiting for is Spence in. Yeah. My boy. So maybe I can get down there. David on the car phones on the fan airlines. What's up? I wanted to ask a question, which is going to be very intriguing who would you say we've been one of the most important people can get away from New York, and that's signing with New York. One of the most important people to get away from New York way. What are we talking about like Jason bay or basketball could've changed New York history? Oh. Lebron james. Nope. I had read are back in my cab for an hour and a half. He was coming up to discuss becoming the GM with the New York. Knicks many years ago where your horseback. No message going now. I own a taxi cab, and I drove a towncar for many years. Cool. Well, that would have made a huge difference. Let's not forget the red had Bill Russell and Cousy and a few others, plenty of talent textile, but he could certainly recognize tunnel to with everybody that'd be drafted place. Red holzman. I mean, it's not like we didn't have good coaches here..

"Mcvay from the out Atlanta. One other thing about those guitar stop type tactics of the Knicks. They send their PR guys that followed a writers around to see what they're asking. And what the writers? You know, what we're leaving to what are the players saying. I told you guys, you know, I I was looking at. I thought I was talking to red Holzman his second stint. But I when I was doing a piece of Mel Daniels. It was he was still first time. 'cause like I it was like seventy four seventy five where you could actually sit in the stands and watch practice. Everybody was following me around even a Riley or they didn't want you to watch them practice anymore. But they weren't they weren't following the right around when you ask the questions. No matter how contentious the writer was about the team, but they'll successful back there. But all you guys are going to get all hyped up. Because you think you know, all these guys have been why would they wanna come here? The last big time free agent to come here with who. Star Omar because they couldn't get LeBron. They overpaid and his knees went, okay? The next big free agent is who nobody. So the criminal a crime of the NBA come into the Knicks for what reason don't you think they're gonna talk to Carmelo to see what what he thinks. Don't you think they'll see what happened with Porzingis? Don't you think they've seen? How cancer has been treated? The sumo Neil Sarah glass. How are you, sir? Doing all right. I'm doing good. Tony. How're you doing? All right ready for the Super Bowl. Yeah. Yeah. I'm looking forward to I'm going out to Hawaii this weekend actually got duffel bag in in studio. We're going to a Long Island with us. They go big party. Yeah. Yeah. It's really nice huge house. There's going to be a lot of people a lot of friends from college are going to be there. You bring any food guy. Like, I got some Twix. I got some cooking nothing making. I was thinking about bringing a spread like you. Remember that one nine during Christmas Harris brought up the the crackers the cheese. The meat spread work. As like, I was thinking about my friend was like now, you're good. Don't don't worry about it. Because we'll show was something. I look I got the Twix bag. Okay. Those little tiny tweaks. But I I do want to make a point though. It's amazing meet like what's happened. Like last twenty four hours is the last time you're on air, you'd even want to talk about the Knicks. Now, you are nothing to do with the banal. They just kinda just brought you back or they what they did was some people won't like it something. I mean, look the draft picks have not alone. That's that's by you don't know what they're going to be. They could be big time. They could be nothing. But that's the Knicks to be really good. And they pick real, you know, they don't they don't, you know, after traffic doesn't mean anything back, then, you know, it's I consider the straight cares transaction incomplete. Let's see what happens. Let's see who they draft. Let's see who they sign and there unlike with abroad. Back in two thousand ten there's some links there are some links with some of these guys Katie his buddy his manager which climate has huge Knicks fan and wants to run the team. We'll see if his name pops up during the off season and Kyrie's from like around the area, and he is openly said he wants to be part of the Knicks Sunday. He's openly said he has interest. And we'll see I look I'm pessimistic just as much as everybody else. But it is something to think about mean, it makes them relevant in that regard because the nets better ball club. And congratulations for Russell making the all star team. And they got a good chance to..

"And one fourteen eighty seven with too much time left, and it's not with the knickerbockers on top again as Dallas not that good of a team. But everybody is better than the New York knickerbockers last call we had right before the break. I mean, what can you say that hasn't been said already the the anger? The st- has all been experienced the rage. The disappointment that depression had has a hall, then exhibited in word, and and in print and with everything it's just awful, and you would think that in New York City, and I and I can't understand. And it may be the case. In fact, it is with a number of professional basketball players. They can get there. Your money. You don't need Madison Avenue and get your money in Oklahoma City. You get your money in Milwaukee, you can get your money anywhere. But you would think and again, maybe it's generational. But the history of sports in New York City is such that you would think that if you're worth your weight at all you would want to take on the challenge in the largest and to me the most important basketball market in the world. And it is part of the soul of the city. You cannot drive through walk through go through any borough of New York City and not from one playground to the next to the one after that see kids playing basketball, and and and whether it's a wooden backboard or no backboard, no net. You're going to see. Everyone out there. Young people all over the place playing basketball, and what the knickerbockers have manned, of course, as a founding team. In the NBA with professional basketball and with the history and only two championships. And it seems like a lifetime, and it has been I mean since the seventy with seventy three and with red Holzman and diversion random with the greatest nickel ball time who is at Madison Square Garden for every game. Unfortunately, he's not suited up. He's broadcasting with my brain. But the bottom line is it it is just mind boggling that it has gotten to be where it is so bad. And yet, here's the ironic thing he can't get a seat. The only open seed Madison Square Garden is one Charles Oakley used to sit in fill is calling from New Jersey and failure on the fan in New York City. What's going on? How are you baby? Well, okay, Phil. What can you say? I'm a die hard giants fan. But I'm also NFL fan and Brady has done is ridiculous. I mean, I really wanna see the guy win again. But here's what I have a problem with the Rams if if Donald and can get pressure up the middle, and we know Brady does not like pressure up the mid on. It's going to be a very long day for him. And another thing I watched the Kansas City game. They were playing a lot of men I'm leaving out a wide open for him. And they were not jamming receivers at. All. Right. I don't think to leave and peers. Ataman and watch required HOGAN. But I mean, if they don't get them and they play man to man, don't get a good bump on the line. Brady's gonna eat them up over the middle. Yeah. And that's why a lot of us think they're going to win. And and I mean, yeah. Because again Brady will get rid of that football at record speed in record time. And basically they're lucky that I'm I'm just going to say they're they his intermediate passing game is like basically an extended hand off. I mean, listen when they play zone just five yards most of the middle fields. Catch the ball every time. It's just I mean, he gets rid of the ball. So the ball out of the animals even turn around and seven row. It's just ridiculous. Yeah. And of course. Yeah. Go ahead. What with the Mets? Now, I'm a Mets fan, obviously. I would love for them to see out. I would love to put on signed yoga. The mets. They have Vargas signed to eight million this year. Whereas if the Yankees with Jacob ellsbury hundred eighty million dollar man Yankee say next her I'm going, right? Over metro not do that the metro stick with August this year. No matter what that put him in long relief and not try to say one dollars out there. It just really upset me as a met fan. Thank you. Steve. I listen. Okay. And thanks for your call. Jason Vargas, a former Brodie van bandwagon. Client is that last starter in the rotation. And yet the starting staff is not necessarily the concern. Why is it maybe somebody could answer for me in the few minutes? We have left in the program. Maybe somebody could answer why not the Mets going after Machado or a Bryce Harper. Why not the Mets or is the answer to obvious to that question..

"Sabin. Get humbled was of almost worth losing the money. I never wanna lose money. Never want clients to lose money end of the day, though. Sometimes you look in some losses are better than others Mark down here in south Florida. That's exactly how people felt when they watch Nick Sabin go down because there's not a lot of love. Obviously for him in the Miami area here. And like you say Kennedy a lot of people really kind of felt good about watching next. David turn humble all of a sudden a football game. There you go Mark. Now you on fire against the number on other NBA winner for you three year last three and Mark like myself. I get into the college basketball. You follow the college hoops in the NBA? So, you know, even though college football is now finished up still at the NFL playoffs. But of course, we enjoy our basketball as well. And I know that's something you've been, you know, going out for a long time. What do you like better the college basketball, the MBA or do you like them both? I like a both Kenny kind of born and raised following my Cleveland Cavaliers since their inception. When they played in Richfield, Ohio. The NBA basketball blood in me, but as a kid growing up watching Ohio State basketball going back to the days of I'm gonna date myself here now, Jerry Lucas and the Ohio State buckeyes back wind got me into the college basketball scene. So the bottom line the answer to what you just asked me as whatever's working, whatever's winning is what I'm liking the most. There you go, and I really enjoy watching Jerry Lucas when he went over and helped out Willis Reed in the next because read would be the guy that was down low and getting up there in years and Lucas was kinda come out there red Holzman put him out there.
