"Game You eat eyeballs all the time. That's like it was rough. But i really messed the fruit vendors quite about now i'm hungry and that was our history well just in time for labor day i have a food recall and he brought me fruits vegetables onto the planet vulcan to recom- get ready for us so this labor day. If you're going to be cooking any hotdogs or hamburgers you might wanna check the buns that you're using because the fda just announced to recall on or hostess buns which. I thought they were like they did like candies twinkie. I didn't know they made anything that i mean. These must have a boatload of sugar in them. Yeah mean it's not surprising. So if you have hostess hotdog or hamburger buns awesome. Is it milk. Isn't it is listeria and salmonella contamination. We need a sound bit for that. Hire professional voice. Actor do that skew. You i used to do. The voice announced at the grocery store. I'm trying to tension. All shoppers attention all shoppers health. It's market will be closing in the next ten minutes. Pretty good thank you so good. Yes so they have this theory in salmonella contamination. there have been no reported illnesses thus far. But like i said if you are grilling this labor day just make sure that your buns are not hosted. So suck is salmonella coming on already baked bonds and it didn't even say how they caught it which i assume was probably like a routine inspection of no one's been poisoned yet yeah it's usually one of the Fsis food safety inspector people catch it and the and there's only like seven of them so they're not catching y'all to do Get fired last administration. Cut it down way way too much. So say you get food poisoning salmonella or listeria and you have to deal with the symptoms during a fucking global ntamak so this labor day if you're not hurting yourself climbing milk crates avoid hosts bonds and You can avoid that food poisoning. Because i think right now would be a terrible time to wind up in hospital. What if you went out the of with your milk crate or your milk crate injuries. And then you look like a maha girl trying to drink what happened. I just wanted to whole milk. Is your whole milk and milk. Creates and i broke. My arm is a hot dog. Buns this is the worst. So bad bad labor day to be girl. The end of summer is always a rough time fraught girls but Listeria and salmonella both have like symptoms. So that would be unadvisable. It's so crazy. Consuming hosts hotdog hamburger buns right now but in other news speaking of hot dogs. A lot of people were tweeting about the hotdog. Half life use this to me fly side so last week Researchers at the university of michigan school public health published some findings of dietary risk components in harmful effects of certain foods. All that is to say that they essentially Looked like I think it's five thousand of the most commonly consumed american food products. Sono they wanted i was. I couldn't even thousand like five thousand. Jesus what they wanted to look at not just the dietary impact but also the environmental impact of consuming these foods and so they just want to create a bad news report. The results like they're not really that surprised. I i kinda got into the weeds on on the research. Like there's just a few points that i pulled out of. I wanna talk about The one that was getting circulated the most is that they found. If you eat one hotdog with bonn that shaves roughly thirty six minutes off your life. So is it worth it. And i'm not saying i'm not saying look. I smoked cigarettes for almost a decade. And i do enjoy a glass of ripple i. I mean i've had a hot talk before. yeah. I'm not saying don't do things that we all know are going to shave time off of the end of our lives. I live in. La alike on pollution on the cheer of things that you're gonna do that are shortening your life. I don't think that a hot dog is like. I don't know yeah i buy a hotdog is kind of like the best biden. It's all downhill from there. Like your it's not you don't you don't have to heart going back thinking about the best dog i've ever had in my life and honestly name name like i mills. I've had in restaurants or like a really like before. I was a plant based hours like. Dan knows a good steak or like something. Burger or like the best lasagna. All dogs all dogs. I've consumer my life. And i don't think any york could say the same like i. Don't fuck remember them. Yeah and you're shaven half an hour off. I mean for some people. There's the nostalgia of like the the game dog to like a ballgame. I'll give you that. But that's just a location based deliciousness. Yeah so says one hot dog with a barn. Look kind of Beef hot dog so turkey. I guess is not as detrimental but It's it's always been red meat. And then it's the nice traits the way they processed so it's so heavily processed. How we don't know we're talking about dogs but let's talk about the fucking vaccine for a second okay. I don't want to hear a motherfucker. Say that they don't know what's in the vaccine fucking hot dog once in a hotdog dog. Explain that to me how your car works you get.

"Because when you come to the cage or you come to the ring or you come into work. You can't white five ten fifteen minutes just. moping around, you have to create rituals to really help me snap into action, and that is really stuck with, and it's. That's why it's part of the five steps goes. Everyone knows how to snap into action. I'll just made to give them system and give them stories to really hit home to make how relevant how important it is for morning rituals to really get the most out of yourself. And it all starts from north, even when you wake up at the not before getting paid the not before, said that you not cons ing getting around in the dock, trying to look for shoes so that you can go to the gym. When it's four o'clock in the morning and Denning Kimba it's. Cold in the morning. I thought it was caught up in Simi but down here man. It wasn't called was raising this morning. But Any little excuse to knock and get started. Knock at the rituals in the morning, so getting prepared to not be full so the dive excuses, so you bad patchy close set everything ready to go, and about what you do. Each step of the way I like to use music news. Positive self talk in affirmations to really get me pumped up. This dude is when I. Don't feel like doing it. I feel like I into Jim at three o'clock in the morning I'm feel like getting up there and being. PUMPED UP ON STAGE, but once you get open. I'm glad that I did because it's just turning up and doing a few steps along the way. Really help you get both physically and mentally in the spot ready to snap into action, and it's the days when I'd done. Go to the gym. You know a few hours later. I'm regretting it so I. Don't WanNa live with regrets, so just do it. And then have that when not designed to twenty, four, seven, three, six five and weighed without fans. We are accessible. What is onto work in short intense bursts so nine? How and when to just step away from what? Everyone so many people are no the suffering burnout bis suffering these veges lagging behind because I. don't have that energy. To your box behind you. If you had to jump on you balk and go for a ten hour ride, and then you still have a five minute break, and then you go for another ten hour Rod. That's just not gonna cut it. You're going to burn out. When you go to the gym when I go to the gym and you, you lift weights and up sore and sorry 'cause you ripley muscles. You're creating damage you stressing. Your body at stress is a brilliant thing. When used correctly, but you need to have that Rod time that downtown to recom- recover from it, and then you stress out again and then you recover. And eventually you need to up the amount of stress. Put on to get the same results, but that's what we want. Both physically and mentally so that's about the that the TAT is tapping and evolving. Especially what we've gone through, we'd covered at the moment when knocking to go back to work and do the same things. Things are going to be different, so we need to tap and evolve. Go there and try and run through brick wall sometimes after step back, and they might be allowed to climb up and over, or they might be a dodgers to this on, but because you didn't take that time to step back and think about possible different solution. You're going to just get brain damage. Run through that wall. So that's snap map tap clap is about celebrating. In teams do all the time in sports. Individual sports lock fighting. It's not an individual sport like try on. It's not an individual sport. You have your coaches. You have your training pilots. You have your family home. All of which celebrate, so you celebrate not just the winds if you celebrate the winds. Doing the right thing you celebrate the time if it and dedication win, lose or draw. In order to get the same as in work. You're willing to do more for people that you've friends with that. You might that you care about then you offi self, so you celebrate the little you celebrate the time and effort and dedication of people put into the work, and you're willing to go above and beyond for them. And, then you have recap this back continuous, never ending improvement in everything you do. Like you look at tennis. For example you have Roger Federer where he he's the best. He's been the best for longtime, but his continuously changing. He's game. You can be the best in anything, but if you just stick to that, you get with intimate way, have access to people's diets. They're training their recovery. What I do for them mind for their mental strength. All elements of its life. They're gonNA kate doing the exact same thing. They're gonNA. Get overtaken forgotten about. The same business concave, doing the same thing and expect to get the same results. If you keep doing the same thing, you're going to end up the same way that knock, it'd. Knock continuously tapping revolving. They had over thirty percent market share in the mid nineties that over forty percent near enough to fifty percent, even after the introduction of the smart funds. But they went with a symbol system, and not with the android system, and it was that simple thing that stopped. Nokia from tapping an evolving, and yes, have tried to have friends coming out of the last couple of years. I think they've been trying to coming back into a little bit, but they're not the pass that once were. Because I went tapping and evolving. Every business every every person needs to grow. 'cause you ate a grind or you dying. There's no stationary. Had I don't know about you. The listeners, but I definitely feel like forty gone through twelve rounds of. kind of pulling myself off the canvas, right, yeah! Right approach so those five things that we talked about off snap. NAP TAP CLAP and recap. That's just awesome. You're like simple aspects about how you can be. More high performing person and be more effective as a leader, you can be a high performing leader by following those kind of steps as well to make sure that you're preparing your planning. You're out, you're doing. You're getting yourself into routine. Fantastic really not that as you might be Kinda, think about routine the. Developed Pre covid actually that I'd started probably aware we February where. Every diet as I have a bath for Shaw I. Always Finish with the last one minute called. And it is. It's about learning to control your breathing. It's about learning to. Wake up the new nervous system than eurosystem fires. And it just makes you come alive and to me. That's my routine that I love at the start of the day. Once I do that. Bang on can do. Anything doesn't matter how I was feeling beforehand. That is my key trigger. Love love and things like that that have really empowering, and you say it. It's that mental toughness that Coleridge know that you can step out of it, but it's just painted for that that one minute that one of discomfort at sets off for the entire day. In London said we're breathing, and that's are going to more of breathing in the toll, but imports with with nap. Sometimes, it's as simple as stopping. Kenyan big deep breath. And that stops you making small, potentially costly both monitoring and Tom Wise mistakes. When you just rushing through mysteries about Bain in the moment and not love I'm a bit of A..

After the Lincoln left, they did like what is it like a six year time, jump or something so yeah? Yeah? Pretty, much Reminding. Okay. But yet yeah it before that the put out the season finale. Yeah, after yeah, after Lincoln left. They did like a big time jump so. The book honestly. Pretty much uncharted territory, especially with the book on now. My Sandra ways just this one time. One time, everybody listen. You guys. I think that the artwork is really gorgeous and a lot of people like even people people that are in the complex at your art and I think walking. Is Art late beautiful. Yeah, and I mean if you're not a regular comic walking dead comic reader, I mean you can kind of get into this. All you need Loza after the end of the series needs living by himself, yeah. A Vega jumping on point for for anybody. He does Wanna like. Gas Yes, his Hammy issues, one hundred and forty, seven or something like that. What's? Walking dead. Knows one, hundred and ninety three wasn't yet ninety S. Number Yeah I know. I think I think we said that. Hundred. I think we said that review. It's like yes, we've got to respect Kirkman for not just dragging it out another seven issues or whatever. Light Okay that's why you need to know just jumping on point and also this is for a the proceeds go to. Because, didn't they do this for free out? The proceeds are going to the comic shops. who were hurting right now? So? Yeah, so it's also a good you know. Your other brands would follow, but you know warmed up is even image. I think it was just Kirkman and our? Who's WHO's the artist? I, if said Oh yeah, we're just GONNA renewed for free in. Stores keep the proceeds. So yeah, so yes, Comics still if you're shopping open, Bassin's what they have plenty of walking dead samples trust. But you ought to. You're supporting small businesses if you're buying the Psalm, 'cause your when I was talking to Diana. They're not putting this out digitally just in. hardcopy so the stores get the Prophet so. Eh But Lynn. If there's not a store near you, I know what what the van did is a she ordered it I guess they were shipping it through her. So you know not a store near you find once a lot of ships. Oh! Oh rows can say before we get out of here letter grade. Because again it's. A great story, but it's just like. Where's McCall's? It's. As long as come giant. Story now we're going to stop. Down Earth in grant very grounded in. Push it that I think that's also something that the show does well like yes Zombie apocalypse would still bear grounded so very human stories me yet. Repeat Human Stores Still Humid Story Yeah. For you. People Watch the TV show only I would comparative like when you get those episodes. Were they do with they focus basically a one character. Yeah, it's. Setting yes, and it's knee and so. If, you did actually finished the whole run. Do see the character growth in. Him is here to really grow dizzy after He does answer those questions I mean you have to have a little bit growth? Don't you just because? That's what anyway. Here's a straight up. Villain like you can you can. You can claim the if you're all you wanting, but he's a villain. A lot of times people let their villains of Volvo and sometimes the evening evolved than I've Oh crap. We actually gave him character abort. In modern storytelling I mean if you're villain doesn't change I. I'm not saying they have to change for the better they can. You know get more evily? But if they don't have like character growth, do they become sort of cartoony and not? Thanking in book villains right now are very much. Shells of their former selves, unfortunately, especially in marvel. 'cause you know data plans to the you corny villain. Can play unfortunately. Don't add me. So yeah, but yeah, no I thought it was very interesting what he did with it, but again it's like neom. Crowd deserves better. Yeah. Gorgeous though like I just I just like. I said did not listen so much side again. Yes stunning like. Is that even if you don't recom- are, it's just absolutely stunning. Jazz are like we said the proceeds go to a good cause supporting small businesses so. Oh yeah yeah after this. What did you give it a B plus? Yeah I probably I'm probably in that same neighborhood just because I love the character I mean again. It's very simple story, but it's it's. It's not saying it's bad. It's very good, but yeah. I mean again like we were talking about. You know this is going to spin off anything I remember finishing this hoping. Aw, please tell me this is going to spin off in the like in the miniseries or ongoing in. Mustang good. Not on fire anymore. He might come back as well and I hope he does it. "Pregame show Show and sideline reporting One of the big highlights of his career was. He was a play by play announcer on Ray Com sports broadcasts of SEC basketball win a tornado. Hit the Georgia dome. Yeah we were. We were part of that. Broad Games. Thousand Eight Yep. He's had a long history of community involvement and he's very very much enamoured of the Children's Charity Golf Classic which is Celebrated its thirty fifth anniversary. That was in two thousand. And that's right. It'd be forty this year fortieth anniversary. Welcome to the show. Thanks Tom I appreciate it. It's great to be here with y'all I didn't know the boss was going to be here to. She's she's definitely you know the thing now if it had not been for love. Yeah she could have. She was on her way to carving out her own careers outstanding journalist. Well that's she won't day part of what she wants to talk about. Okay Oh gosh not the way. I was not the way I was. What are we talking about here? Well you know sometimes people like you who come back into my life or whatever. I'll hear these stories about how you know how my demeanor may or may not have been in the newsroom at a particular time so well. I'd go and go and we're going to date ourselves just with okay. It's okay to date back in the mid. Nineteen eighties is the first time that our paths crossed. Yes we were both at channel twenty cents right and you were still at Georgetown College correct or did you graduate. I would have graduated my. I actually graduated in May of eighty-two but I probably started interning at the station probably a couple of years before that and I don't I don't remember when it was exactly what you were interning right. I was interning. But they also threw me in the grease and had me yesterday did reducing the weekend news absolutely and you were involved in that and The rascal that you were with your big personality you still want to say mouth or something. You know it's okay. Okay It anyhow you were always very supportive and you know what's the most interesting thing I think about your background in Radio Television and all that you have been at the same station for how many years this will be thirty nine at the end of April. That's just an paralleled. It's doesn't happen and I'm not just saying this but I got good advice early on from from people like your dad and from Ralph Hacker. Who said you know the best thing you can do is if you want to do some different things you know? Look at it like a wheel you know. Have Your your base of operations there and then kind of spoke out. Phase your bill so to speak right and then and then it's interesting you know what's that line about the About the toes you Step on the way up or be attached to the back side. You Kiss on the way down and you just you just never know how things are gonNA happen. You know you talk about. Oh you're talking about all that stuff that we did with Jefferson pilot and Ray Com. Yeah Great Television. We we bought recom- I mean. Great television right so great. Television Ralph Gabbard when the whole Kentucky Central Divestiture happened out. You Know Ralph Hacker sold via okay. The Insurance Company was sold and K. Y T was sold to gray television. They're out of Georgia guy named mcroberts Robinson who had laugh more lumber than anybody. Yeah east of the Mississippi was here because he owned a piece of Holy Bull. Yeah that's right with the bells. That's right that's right and so he saw the television station. Said this would be a good thing and so we were the first television station. That Gray television bought outside of Georgia. Ralph was the first president and unfortunately he passed away all to soon while they were out raising money for their initial public offering but gray continued to grow continued to grow. And we'd gotten up to where we are about seventy stations and about a year and a half ago. We completed the acquisition of Nali Recom- sports but ray COM television. So we've gone from seventy stations to about one hundred and thirty five and we're now the third largest Television broadcaster in the country hundred thirty five states and a lot of those guys that I worked with on those games are guys that I work with now. Part of the new company it straight now did that it. The way that that parlay did that help your expansion personally meaning but you were with Ray. Calm before ray calm right calm has no broadcast entity anymore and all the other broadcasting that. I do now. I was really. I was really pleased a lot of fun to be able to do all that broadcasting but to try to hold down a fulltime job. That was just not going to be. Yeah something that you could do all the time. I mean you know you'd be doing a game at midnight and You'd finish up at midnight and beautiful Starkville Mississippi. You'd get out to the airport at four thirty trying to make it back here to your day job by noon the next day right. That's tough. That's tough but now with the SEC. Network what I can do is I can still do a lot of events for them but just do the ones here like in addition to the UK pre-game where I'm REX's caddy We do. I do all the UK soccer men's and women's and do the UK women's softball and so it may not be at the rate that you used to do those things when you're traveling which is a okay here but I can do them. It doesn't take away from the day job and I'm not gonNA write your day. Job is selling advertising. It's kind of it's kind of a Combo. I mean I The the way it happened to me was when I was in high school up in Franklin Ohio. Which is a little bedroom community between? Cincinnati and Dayton. Everybody who lived up there. Were people like my parents Moore from Southeastern Kentucky. That had gone up there to get jobs in the paper and you've read Hillbilly. Lg Right. That's right so that what what the guy I can't think of darn guys. I can't think of his name either but but he his place he grew up. Is the town right next to mine? Okay so it's the same sort of deal and so the guy who did the The play by play on the radio up there was a guy named Dan Humphries and he would come around and see our athletics director and sell spots and then he'd do the Games and everybody knew who he was. Yeah same thing hacker did so they've allowed me to kind of do the same thing out at K Y T. I still do our our noon sports every day and then I do our six thirty show on the CW and in between that. I'm out selling advertising right and doing your sportscasting and covering UK Games. And I don't know how you keep track of the same way you guys do and you do it because we've all got kids in college right. It's right now and you're good at it very. You're very kind. I'm there is nobody that has been any more blessed than I have and I'm just I I it really is a blessing to be able to do it every day. Because you're it's fun. I mean there are challenges. Yeah but I mean right. It's great. Everything's a child. I could still be working in a paper mill right right. You could be to talk a little bit about how you got started in what you're doing Y- that's a good story about Georgetown College and I you know I'd always been kind of interested and I went to school at Georgetown. There were a lot of guys From up in southwest Ohio. A lot of my friends who went there so we we were there. Georgetown and I already been interested in doing some stuff. How what what was that connection from Southwest Ohio to Georgetown up there half a dozen guys relative? I ran around with. We're going to go there and try to play small college football. I see and just came down there and there wasn't anybody that was pursuing me right. I mean so I needed to do something and so we all ended up Kinda migrating air. Yeah and when I got there W RV G was the five Watt radio station and you could barely hear across the on the other side of the sprawling Georgetown camp and they needed somebody to do. The Basketball Games right. The guy that had done the games that year before had just graduated. Who is Mike Summers? Who's a longtime college football coach? He was co cheers. Jobe son-in-law sure and Mike had done games that year before nobody was there and so I ended up doing them and had always been interested in getting in it. Got An internship at Kyi t- Like Elizabeth when she was there. I remember there was like a Sunday afternoon where some weather had blown through woodland park and there was no live body to send so they send me down there and I didn't screw the thing up. That's good so I got to do some more steps my last semester of college. This is this is the dream semester for everybody. I took coaching and officiating football by appointment by appointment that now. If you can do that you're you're in great shape. And then I got twelve hours for working in a K. Y. T. Frankfort bureau during the eighty two legislative. And so that's what I made a lot of context over there still didn't have a job. Didn't know what I was going to do in a position came open two weeks before I graduated. Yeah which starts the running blessings there you go. It is well and is that that kind of is that how you first got interested in politics too. You'd seem like he just fallen into different. Yeah you make your own good fortune for the most part because when you show up and you do a good job you get more opportunity and more blessings and all of that juror but was that your first political exposure. What's the What's that online about? The the most important ability is availability. You know so you know you try to be there everyday and do that stuff and I've told this story before so. I'm sure that I can tell this story right now. I've told it privately. This is breaking news for you Tom. So Elizabeth my first experience was we were in a K. House over at Georgetown and I was probably Sophomore Junior. Something and phone rang and as a young pledge I- darting in there to answer the phone and this guy says brother Baker I'm such and such such such. I think I'll I think I'll leave the name out to protect the innocent right now but I'll be glad to tell you off the air and he says here's what I need you to do. I need you to bring twenty brothers to the Campbell House in tonight at seven o'clock. Yeah there's a meeting of Kentucky Young Democrats and there are To people that are running a male female. You guys need to vote for the female and I'll get you three kids. You'll be there about twenty minutes and I said we're in. Yeah absolutely so. That was actually. That was actually the first experience. But I'd always been interested in politics and so then in eighty two working in Frankfurt Bureau We had some guys. Mike Lynch and Dick Brown. A lot of people had offices the media in the capital itself but we had an office in like a strip mall up there at the top of the hill they're in Frankfurt but it was an opportunity to be around a lot of folks and be exposed to that and I just I you know a lot of people lament politics and all this stuff these days. It's fun I'm fascinated by. Yeah I'm fascinated by the machinations of it The but the behind the scenes I think people get far too worked up about policies and things like that and how people do things. There's no middle ground anymore in politics. It's you're either on one hundred the other. Just look at the Democrat primary right now right right but still and this is this is this is a whole `nother show but I I refuse to believe that you can't talk about it. You know when I was in that chair doing my show for whatever it was six or seven remember that I always said we can disagree without being disagreeable right and I still believe that I mean tip. O'neill would go and have the beer with with Ronald Reagan. Yeah and there are people that can that can still do. One of my best friends on the planet is Raw Broccoli. Who's the executive producer at At Ray Com sports and his dad was like for about thirty five years. The number two man at Brown University really that does not make him a southern conservative now. Not Brown university the way he was writing. It's Rhode Island but like we wouldn't do games when we did the right COM games. We were always the noon kickoff. Yeah so we'd get in town on Friday. We do things. We'd sleep fast. We'd get up early. We would get up like between like five six. Am and we would always go on a walk to start the day and that walk always consisted of talking politics. Yeah and we never agreed on anything and we still talk politics in life to this day and I just think if more people talked we'd be we'd be better.

"Tell US switched. Did in the Marine Corps the army and the Navy Josue. I started in the Marine Corps. Nine hundred ninety seven. He's in January in getting out in nineteen ninety one so I was radio man. I served with any three twelve and then I was with a second check recom- Once I got back from the storm got out was offer. Low Bit cited go back in and back. Then we didn't have the Internet. We have all the the the job resources that there are now so I went back in the military. I was trying to work in civilian world and there just wasn't a lot out there to be honest with you especially with a lot of veterans. Getting getting getting out thought I was going to go to college Kinda got caught up partying a little too much little lack maturity there In of going into army army they said Hey I was taking prior service which is funny. Because when I had joined I went to Fort Lee to be a parachute rigger and they had a company it was all And it was half Marines and half army guys trying to come back in and everybody was talking about the same thing at. They're just. It was just pretty tough to get a job or you know. Do some of the things that you wanted to do. Yeah you know the cracks cracks. I'm sure the other services do the rinker actually has prior service recruiters like your recruiter in that your designation. You're you are a prior service. Recruiter leader in a lot of times are usually recruiting marines just to come into the reserve but sometimes in back on active duty or active reserve right. Yeah so then. I ended up switching over to the navy after a few years. I was out for a little bit doing some off. Where Smith stuff on California media and then ended up going to the Navy pre-nine eleven probably early two thousand one that went back into communications? That's that's originally what I wanted to do in the army but at the time it was an open so when I was in the Navy went did that work my way up and then eventually as always doing that you know work my way up. The ranks to in communication did a lot of time with special operations. Most all my deployments except for one were were with the Navy Seals. It wasn't support navy seal. Sometimes you'd be supporting ranger the Ranger Regiment special forces and in some a lot of different government agencies. Yeah Hey so you couldn't find it finding time to actually get into the air force and even the coastguard before he retired in California. I was in the Air Force Reserve. Kind Kinda mentioned that are you serious actually actually been in all four services. Yeah I think I've heard of guys doing that before but I think he's. I'd like to for you. Definitely the first guy on the podcast is covered all four years. A thing. Joe I never planned on it that way. Sure yeah it Kinda worked. Oh Ah I never thought I'd ever will you know if you look at especially in the rains. There's no way bell-bottoms. Well guess what I venture worsened. Bell Bottoms Water. I have to tell you that Navy bell-bottom Denim uniform. You can take the most bad ass lucan dude. You could put Arnold Schwarzenegger in that uniform and he still would not cool but you know it's tradition right yes. It is holy cow all four more services. That's amazing and you probably did a tour in a coast guard cutter something to right now. Everybody laughs about that. She'd army transportation right but they do get mobilized and serve under military community service. Sometimes Not Alex. She met quite a few guys uncovered. I got a pretty stand up. Gus Yeah so you know we talk about transition a lot on the show. You've probably transition more than anybody. I mean you treat not only transducer from service to another but the inbetween services you probably had gotten out for a little while at least a couple of those times and then you know in the end you you finally retired from the Air Force. So what were your transitions like. Or what was your transition like overall and what were the lessons you learned. Yeah I I. Ach Don't make any snap decisions when it comes to your retirement so I was in the Navy and I retired in twenty thirteen but it was in twenty twelve twelve. Probably I want to say the fall early fall runoff Tober and I was burning out just the sheer amount of hours people to complain all the time at the time Truchi and we just had so much stuff going on not just running the troop doing a research in development. We did a lot of research and development. Also that was part of our our construct. Not just doing the job which I'll send you a lottery development so there's a lot that went into that a lot hours and it was just kinda wearing on me so when I retired I dropped my retirement papers from the time I dropped them to the time I actually Komo ceremony went on terminal leave because I at the time I think I had ninety two days of terminally or of leaf I should say so. I took those ninety. Today's ten days House Sunning ten days job hunting and I got a job working for so calm doing a lot of rnd. It took a job when in a contracting because I needed something pretty quick and I actually had a job lined up in stupid guard but it fell through because of sequestration that put all funding on. Hold so I dropped my retirement papers for got put on hold which put me in a pinch so I had to take the job at cellcom. Yeah I I know a guy that was in that exact situation institute gert he he he got none of them record was waiting on the civilian Asia because the sequestration got delayed like like a year more. Didn't it. Yeah it was. It was quite a while time at fine. Came through people said. Hey you want to. Ah Take jobs to cart in your name. Still Number One on list the hut I just bought a house. I you know I didn't want to have uproots the family again. We've just got him to settle down and.

"Hello and welcome to another episode of fusion patrol. I'm eugene and i'm simon and tonight we are looking at yet another and i am always it's always happy when i can add yet another animated doctor who adventure to our hopefully someday complete collection of every doctor who episode that ever existed <hes> i can. I can hope but this time it's the second doctor adventure sure the macura terror on earth colony. A man medoc causes a scene during practice for a celebration. He's seen creatures creatures in the colony at night. His cries are branded as hallucinations but he runs away before they can restrain him. He is inadvertently captured by the doctor jamie polly and ben who are thanked for capturing the dangerous man and taken back to the colony. Ask guests everyone. There is very cheerful and works very hard. The doctor has his suspicions wants to talk to me doc. He releases him from captivity that night. The doctor finds doc outside after curfew. They encounter the macro. The giant crab like creatures they are recaptured and me doc naively believes they all have to believe him this time. The leader of the colony is the pilot but he is overseen by control troll an unmoving photo of face on screen rather than get the doctrine trouble meet up lies to the pilot telling him that the doctor was trying to convince him to surrender me doc is sent for rehabilitation control orders the doctor and gang to be subjected to high power adaptation while they sleep only ben is weak willed enough to be overcome by the insidious. It's brainwashing and turns the doctrine for sabotaging the equipment poly leaves trying to get away from the trader is ben but she encounters the macro ben finds her and helps her escape gaped clutches of the macro but when they return to the pilot and tried to corroborate the doctor's tale that there are creatures ben denies the macro exist they convinced the pilot to show them the real controller not just the photograph on the screen and when control allows it it is the same man but ancient a broken wreck of a man willing to do anything is unseen captors telling the doctor polly and jamie are sentenced to working in the gas mines and the voice control makes everyone else forget get what they saw. They meet up with me. Doc who is also in the minds it protects the doctor by getting him assigned above ground work in the control room. The doctor agrees so that he can find a way to cause mischief in the mind. Jamie escapes down a forbidden tunnel means to follow him but is killed by the macro. When ben betrays jamie <hes> gan dan gas is pumped into the tunnels to incapacitate him. The gas also serves some other sinister purpose. The doctor reverses the gas flow just but in time to save jamie but he and polly escape down another forbidden tunnel where they find the control room filled with macro running the colony the mccray need the poisonous gas to survive gosh if they did poisonous gas to survive we could have just given them all heart car pollution escaping and then returning to see the pilot again. The doctor convinces him to go see what he's discovered. Control go crazy deposing the pilot it and demanding their capture but after the pilot sees the truth they are trapped in a tunnel with gas being pumped in regains his senses when his friends are in danger and with with the doctors coaching causes a gas explosion killing the macro. The colony is saved. The gang escaped the planet before the doctor can be named the can you highlight the ant just going to ask what was wrong with the old pilot he wouldn't anyway <hes> macro tear so <hes> <hes> <hes> tell us tell us the providence of this animation simon. I'm sure you're more versed on it than i am. Well the the providence is it's from the same stable as the <hes> full reanimation of power of the daleks and the the more recent animation missing bits of the never never filmed bits of sharda directed by graham norton i think at least most of it and also the the very short screening from a couple of years back of about ten minutes of wheel in in-space that's right they did put that beer fi that wheel in space thing that never went anywhere because they have a reanimated space which we thought was going to be the rest of william space it turned out no they were not lying when they said ten minutes should be smacked upside the face for that i i have to say and you don't have access to the <hes> the brick ox a wheel in space recreation that they put together a years ear so ago for the united states do you i. We had something like grip bauxite but i didn't have it. I don't i don't think is available in the other other form. I have deal. It's the so macro tara has been animated to release on heightened video like a lot to the other ones that we have looked at and it has been released along with the recons for the sites as well so you get you get quite good pack w w blu ray or d._v._d. With a an animation and this another difference with this one i'm well. I guess you ought to say was this one was animated in color said it wasn't oh no trusting power animated black white in colorized wasn't it it was indeed so it was it was released with a color version so obviously may have been some market testing going on there but it was done as i understand it is something of an afterthought where they'd animated it and then i think maybe even the different team. Put the put the color onto create create a color version because they thought well we got this here and we can make it more more attractive for modern audience by having cutler and then clearly the next next on the nation released was shot and that was going to be in color anyway because story and with this one they went in animated in color and then produced a black can white version alongside it on the d._v._d. So you get the calibration you get the black and white version. I'm do you get the recom- episodes and it. It's pretty good package package. You get you get them with the <hes> us as being done with number three homes with kind of explanatory text onscreen because is the kind of surviving footage plus still doesn't always explain the action you also get the option to play with the linking linking narration which explains the missing action recorded by annika wills the the cd release of it so it's it's a pretty complete package. That weren't enough if you do get ten minutes. If we lose based on top of that say well i mean it sounds like an amazing package and if only they release it in the united states before october number of two thousand nineteen i i. I really am at a loss on that <hes>. Is you know it's a strange very pirated all over the place in in the united states i i. I know for johnson why they would think it would be. I mean negates release in the us. Why no i i really don't care a two is it because they have master differently for for n._t._s._c. or or whatever whatever technically we use now in h._d. I is just because they don't want a crowd other releases well. I think that's much more likely i think i think he's much less likely to be anything technical because i can't see why would require require that much time and even if it did he could delay the whole release i think is more likely to be marching and she sent me over here the other kind of big doctor well you know i think you get him in the u._s. As well the other kind of big doctor who home video releases tha going on now you're getting about three seasons a year of the classic show coming out blu ray and they they have they always announced the next one before one gets released with a held off from doing that. When the macro tara came out so that they could would give it certain moment in the limelight which oversee we'll have helped in the u._k. Market but that was like april right for the u._s. It yes it came out seventy first quarter nineteen all right well. That's and this is all four episodes besides the dialects. It's all episodes. Click click clips survive but nothing amounting to complete well. I'd say criti episodes belly. Anything amounts to a complete seem so yes. It's it's an unlike most of the ones that we have looked at is the only only powers the dialects was completely ran that was obviously six episodes and this is four episodes so it's it's a pretty major undertaking automation terms where others to accede to the most why macro tear. I mean why that story. I guess you'd have to you'd. You'd have to say well. I turn it the other way around which missing stories and i guess that there has to be some reason why they gang for completely missing stories which which completely missing stories. Would you like to.

"Get your button to camp. We have one hundred percent of the leverage and i'm not saying that tony polar is better than than zeke. He has played well in this preseason. How touchdown run against the rams. I thought he will for drives thing right. Yeah well yeah what he's been given the opportunity to do. He's played well and that that particular touchdown run presses the whole he gets the cutback on that touchdown run. He takes takes a hit. He breaks a tackle. He maintains balance. That's great that i mean that is awesome ezek. I'm not gonna. I'm not gonna go that far. You know you and i play with terrell. Well davis and i always joke around that. He used to make up for a multitude of sins so like the year. That terrell got hurt in nineteen ninety nine right had we had in orlando's gary. He came in and ran for twelve hundred yards t._d. Would have fifteen hundred sixteen hundred years. Mike anderson at fourteen no disrespect to those guys but t._d. Would've had t._v. Two thousand awesome yeah just a different human being and that's zeke elliott but can they maintain or can they manage without zeke yeah i think they can and so i think this is gamed gamed yeah they can win some games the objective skipping the what is it. This is all right. Skill objective is to win the first two games da yeah you ought his. Oh we go into the super bowl. This miami is going to be painted blue and silver yada yada yada just blew all of the all of a sudden objective with two games. Okay we'll let him sweat and sit in kabul for two games and then we'll see what happened to in. Oh here recom- whatever you owe it to whatever you do you the other side. You can't just give me one. I witnessed and owen to start without emmett smith but they had in place of him and a kid named eric last week from alabama who just wasn't very good. Tony pollard is legit. That's all i can say is i've seen enough to say he is a legit it stand in starting running back with whom they could win two games against the giants and the red and you've noticed that a one drive when he's playing. He's going down to give the guy that's gonna. We'll be working at u._p._s. Driving saw a shifty glider who knows how to carry the rock. That's what i saw and i will put my reputation on the fact that he is legit jitter nuff they could win a couple of games with him and once zeke does come back and jerry made this point later in this same conversation that started with z cou they will have a one one in a one day and zeke should embrace that because he's carrying the ball too much for his own good. How long is he going to lash. Shannon sharpe says not very long. We're here this kid. Tony pollen will extend zeke's playing what he with zeke also understand if he doesn't get those carries if somebody comes in and divvied up his carries he's not gonna have the big yardage which hurts his argument that i need to big payday. Yeah he yeah if he gets a big payday. He won't mind is leading the carry because it won't will be important to him. He knows now he's like. He's proven that he can carry the load. This will lessen. Some of the low vic says i want you to lessen some of the load. If if you give me more money kim the match your question. Let's say for the sake of argument. Something came up in. You had to take ernestine somewhere and you weren't able to do. I don't have to take her anywhere. I want take. Would you take the day off and they had a feeling and they come to they. I don't know if people know this Grindr, which is a gay dating app was purchased by a Chinese company. I didn't know that Beijing Kunlun tech company, and what I also didn't know is there is a group called the committee on foreign investments in the US, which vets overseas, acquisitions of American businesses for risks to national security. See fees ordered the Chinese company to sell grinder and in the meanwhile not to send any data to China. About people who use grinder you didn't know about or CPS. I don't know what it means. But since we have a former TV critic on the show, maybe he can explain former TV guide TV critic, please Hulu. I it's so Disney owns Hulu now Comcast, which owns NBC has said, okay we're going to break away from Hulu, so that means that the NBC universal shows that are currently on Hulu will stay on Hulu for now. But in a year may move to an NBC an unannounced, an unnamed, but announced NBC streaming video service, which is supposed to be up next year has one ABC Disney has Has one. one. And then there's the looted I and AT and T is also pulled out of Hulu. That's they sold. Their stake was supposed to solve all of that. Yeah. Nobody wanted to be an Hulu now that Disney controls Hulu Comcast is leaving. It's just what was going to come down to is a million silos. And if you wanna watch you know, what's going to hurt, though, is, let's say right now, if you'd like the good fight you have to figure out where you can watch it by subscription. If you don't have over the air, TV, you have to buy a subscription, blah, blah. Well, you can't get through to find on over the air, you can only get. That's right. Okay. Or two Star Trek discovery whatever. So, but what's going to come down to is? If you wanna watch particularly show, you have to figure out what services on and subscribe to it or you're just gonna stop watching those shows and see what happens. Yeah. I mean that's what everyone when we talked about doing all car cable, which is what this is where we got do is they were like, yeah, you'll lose out on the smaller channels sales. See consolidation in the content generation business. And then you'll pay individually per channel Tada, here we are. Interesting really busy. I have a few of our restaurants only use ready, open, a lot of people don't restaurants, even though it's got fifty one thousand restaurants, don't like open table, because you have to use the open table software. "Caz, usual. The only time we talk about this goes recon thing is when it's breaking news. And then you're wrong. Apparently, there's been a leak I saw pop up over here on read it image leaked out that talks about Tom Clancy's ghost recon, breakpoint wolves collector's edition. So maybe that hasn't been officially there was a good question here, though, because you not tomorrow is this question here from Andrew dramas, maybe in sedro mouse. Good morning. I'd like to hear your thoughts and weather the review of our ghost recon could be something that isn't Usov has as another. I p people speculating that watchdogs is going to invade this ghost recon thing and then invade because technically what it was twenty seventeen that we got wild lands which wasn't that long to us. And then we got watchdogs in two thousand sixteen. So it feels like, and we watch Ben the Saint they're gonna combine to know people are saying that which I fucking bayton. Ghost recon is all bullshit. Oh, a hacked watch. Just put out a piece of deal sea story DLC that has Shane from the Walking Dead and the punisher what I can never remember his name sorry in it. And so it's like this thing of are they trying to drum up this excitement for ghost recon. So that they can take the start this thing. We're doing the goes into goes like, bro. It's like dead second. It's like I liked the I don't know that there's that. But with the image. Does it look markedly different than the version from twenty seventeen all the jungle and heartfelt? What do you mean? In other words, is it looked like it might be said, and it was like whatever south much. This guy. There's this thing on at here. That's a screen grab. And it's like, it's a dude. Like a poncho. It looks like generic dude with the giant gun hard to tell it would be fucking awesome. I think if they were and I was like, well, why don't you do assassin's creed? Oh, well, hasn't to get people. Really angry goes recon a smaller Ubisoft franchise enough. And you just got a piece of story. I think you just hit the nail head though. "What's going on? What can you tell us? I mean, he had to ask him that he with that. But there's a lot on. I mean, I mean, nothing's going. I hear a lot of things, you know. How media's obviously, you know, how everything is just all rumors and stuff like that. So you just can't believe anything until you talk to him. You know, that's. But he's doing good. You know, I talked to I'm almost every day. I sent him my sparring footage. A really, of course, I do a boxing sparring Nelson the footage critique me along paragraph. So you need to work on this that so he's always there for me. And you know, I appreciate having him a lot. And especially like the way I jumped into the game Owen. Oh, going into a lot of hype a lot of pressure. There's no one better than having him because he's dealt with at all. I never seen anybody deal pressure. The way he does anything like it's crazy. I've been with them at night before a fight. And it's like hanging out watching Netflix. So he's just crazy and everything like, he's a different kind of breed of human so learning from him is crazy, right? But you know, there was some other fighters mentioned in and I don't think I'm. I don't think I'm stretching by saying this. But like I saw that picture of him. And Habib like when they were. It reminded me. And I think you know, the reference right? You know, the one I'm referring to right? He's talking about reminded me of big into this is getting too much. It's getting too serious. I don't want it to go down that road. You know? I mean, I never thought scary scary. Do do agree. Like it's getting too. To to to personal. I would think I would maybe be more. You know? To be fair. It's getting personal on on Connors into it should family wives is none of that should be talked about. Right. I mean, there has to be a line, right? I mean, obviously don't wanna see anything happen. Like that. Where anyone that's really the first thing. I came to mind everything about that. We were talking about sorry famous picture. Then of course, what happened to them. I don't want that to happen. I hope not too. But there's some there's some let's be honest. There's some crazy people involved here. There's right. I today so much to bring a gun into T mobile Renner. Did you hear about? No, I didn't that someone got stopped at the door coming into T mobile with a gun and stuff, which is scary. Because I I mean, I gained death richest from off that fight. I that was different. I got tons. I'm talking about. Now bring a gun for that for that. I I don't don't know. I know. didn't. I didn't get even more. You get a lot. I got a lot after the fight. And now they're starting to recom- saying, my family's names saying everything there's some serious things is that anything, obviously I had to focus on the focus on things. And it's obviously not the things I want to be thinking about. But but you guys those. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, I guess see the pictures you post things like that. You're not deterred by any of this. Yes. I don't know. Yeah. I mean comes with the territory. I don't know. Yeah. I guess I don't know. There's a line that we shouldn't cross at this point. Like, what do I mean, he made a tweet after saying, you know, I wanna know. And that was very good. I was happy. Good. What you said. And study could get like people can read one thing not see that tweet. And it just gets worse. And I'm saying I'm saying this for you too. There's crazy people out there. Tell me that trust me. I've been in situations where a head crazy people come up to me and say things like that. And and I never know especially nowadays. So I always keep my eyes open and very smart. You know, one thing I'll say is like, I wouldn't say so. I think when people get into place unless they get comfortable. And then they forget about where they came from a self. And I think he just always had to be switched on. And that's one thing effort sizes staying switched on. No matter what it is in life finances business of you get lazy, and you get you get comfortable as when you get caught and business and fighting if you're not.

"You're just gonna stick with four guys given the off days, and and where does urban Santana fit and all this. Well, we are gonna stick with four initially. We don't need that fits starter till till April tenth Ervin. Santana's gonna stay back here and continued. To throw. He's fingers fully healed. Now, it's more matter of sort of building up the endurance in the repetition and come that April tenth start swimming, everything holds in that time, we need a starter. Ervin. And the last thing for you is there a is there a player there were not given enough attention to maybe a newcomer or something that you that you're really excited about in in how fit into this ballclub the season. In terms of not only explaining to them how other teams view them and how would prepare for them at after being in our division for the last several years, but also helping them sort of improve upon their own arsenals and unlock those some of what we've been trying to get through to them. I think James is going to have a really big impact on us from a from a defensive standpoint for low from a pitch calling and game planning and pitcher development standpoint, which again is going to be difficult for it to necessarily show up and be attributed to him, but all of us from Ricky and all the coaches, and when we talk about what James brought it keeps coming up that that impact he's having our on our young pitchers. Oh, girls don't recom- coastal may come of course, they do of. And they always have. Yes, it's amazing. Do you have favorites particular stories or books or runs of these titles? I have particular stories that I just love couple of Patsy Walker stories where pats he's sorority they're going to have dance and the girls have to ask the boys. So Patsy, of course, wants to ask buzz oh bus Baxter. That was air you go. She wants to ask. But of course, Hetty also wants to ask bus and this one is. Full of just running running after bus. And then when they get here the other one is there, and so they're pretending that nothing has happened because they wanna get buzz alone to invite him to the party. And finally because they neither of them will let the other one be alone with buzz finally, the two of them. Patsy and Hetty, they decide say, okay. Let's let bus pick who's he's going to go with and the loser. The what who you just pick asked to do the other ones homework over the weekend. So they go to buzz, and they give him this proposition. Me says Chee and bus is always so clueless. Ci that's nice of you girls. But I already accepted the invitation of I don't remember her name. But she's the geeky girl who asked him I saw in the last panel you see pats in Hetty sitting there, and they're each grumbling, and they reach doing each other's homework. Heady she had her own books coming out at sea. And the rivalry was for what it was. It was just so fun. So spirited the energy out of those comics is tremendous. I think that's where let you go because I know you've got to catch a flight checkout women of marvel where you and Judy talk about all kinds of amazing stories and fun stuff. And for listeners check out a new issue of love romances, which republishing as part of our eightieth anniversary. All right reprints. No, I wish it was reprinted. It's new stories. So we've been doing this. We did like all horror title like journey. No morals so old titles. Taking again doing new stories in that vein with a page of history some old covers so we're doing a romance one using love romances as title. Yeah. That'll come out February twentieth. Right. Yeah. It's really nice, and hopefully, all this can spark some people and get them excited to check out some of the classics and all these books that you. Picked up you got the conventions, and you know, people. I got them at conventions. They were a whole lot cheaper than they are now. Sure. Well, dig around a little bit find some old comics if you if you don't I struggle with sometimes having folks understand the beauty of comic from the forties or fifties. Or sixties the way it smells, the paper the texture everything about it. Like, it's a different experience. I'm fortunately, what also happens is when you take them out of their plastic bags immediately, little pieces of Brown paper falloff in crumble on the floor around you. That's probably need reprints. Yes. Thank you. Thank you. Okay. That was with Trina Robbins talking about romance comics, so cool. We're going to do our question of the week, Jamie. You just had a great question week. Actually, I'm hoping it eventually goes into homegoods. Oh, that's. You. Because that's because you have to think about people, right? That will be with you for another ten years, and then they've acquired even more yet things in other areas of their life and those purchases home purchases specifically, I mean as is word purchases are increasingly becoming more online than in store.
