"Because chuck Todd just said is it better to get the virus than get vaccines I got vaccinated I got the Johnson & Johnson vaccine I got the booster 5 weeks ago Went to Costco got the booster I wear a mask everywhere I go And by the way it's not always because of the virus it's because I don't necessarily want to be noticed with people coming up to me But it's also the virus Vaccinated booster mask still got it Still got it And the monoclonal antibiotic Where the governor of Florida has made it easily accessible No questions asked Which is basically four shots one in the fatty part behind your bicep on the left arm on the right arm and then they squeeze each side of your stomach for fat and do it there So it's four shots And by the way a lot of the people doing it There was a part time job or volunteers for firefighters Some emergency personnel And these are private companies that are given Rec centers or whatever you just look it up and you go And you go I mean the governor is a genius to be quite Frank about it And that's why he was fighting for this monoclonal antibody because he realized look people are going to get this many of them who are

"rec center" Discussed on The Vance Crowe Podcast

"Local community worked at the summer camp. They always needed additional hands on dick at the at the rec center and it just for some reason i left. They're happier than any dollar amount. Had ever made previous so that part. I said this must be it. So i know when i call some of my old friends and i was like i think i might be going to social work. Do some stuff with some kids was funny. When watch for instance. I could've told you that. And he's like you know we used to call you the counselor highschool so it was. It was like you know it's funny. How those natural progressions almost brings you back around full circle later on in life and i think that's what happened for me. You know what i saw. When i was there was kids would go from like happy playing great time. Laughter to instantaneous. It would seem almost that they would get into a fight or they would be ready to throw down like on the scale. That if when i was a kid you you would least see this progression lead up and it would. Maybe only happened once a month. Maybe once every two months but this was happening like multiple times a day and one of the conclusions. I came to but i'd be very interested in hearing perspective on. This is a lot of those kids. Didn't have the language to describe different emotions. They were feeling right so they had. I'm angry they had. I'm embarrassed right. And maybe he didn't even know the word embarrassed but they would feel that right so they were feeling this range of emotions but they only had instead of having a dial where they could change it or check check different dials at the same time. It was very clunky. It was happy angry. Happy embarrassed and that seemed to me to be something that i don't know how you resolve it but it seems something to do with language. Not definitely i think is even more deeper than language right because at the end of the day What you're talking about is a spectrum of emotions right and so they can only.

2nd COVID field hospital in Massachusetts to open at UMass Lowell on Monday amid coronavirus surge

"Holiday search. Another field hospital ready to go here in Massachusetts, the rec center AU Muscles East campus. Is normally a spot for pickup basketball games. But right now it's full of hospital beds and medical equipment. Dudley Abby is the VP of hospitality and support services for Circle health. He had a bit of experience setting up a field hospital here back in the spring. We did create the pods in such a way that just more privacy this time we have curtains that they can end up closing in between. Right now. There's enough staff for 14 of the 54 beds that are currently set up, although they can surge to 77 in total, if necessary. Whatever the need may be, W and his team are ready. You put your heart and soul into taking care of patients, and you're called upon in a pandemic to do it. I mean, that's why you signed up in the first place that she were WBZ. Boston's news radio

"To the future in the Merrimack Valley, and it comes under dire circumstances. And a warning from health officials. WBC's match here tells us Ah Field hospital is about to get busy again there. No college athletes jogging around the rec center at U Mass. Lowell, just a team of medical professionals, making sure every bet on the parquet is ready to go working collaboratively. We were able to erect a field hospital in matter of days of the Audi is the VP of hospitality for Circle health. But right now, his primary focus is here. The state's second covert field hospital. The staff is trying to make the patient experiences comfortable as I can be with plenty of room to walk around. You're in a covert environment here, so social distancing isn't something that you have to worry about. This comes during a week where public health officials fear a post holiday surge. But despite their concerns, Dudley says morale is improving. His frontline workers are finally getting vaccinated. I haven't seen in a long time. Ep 26 Excerpt: Converse > Debate

"You're on and it's simply this. If I'm forming my rebuttal while someone is addressing me, I'm not really interested in hearing what it is. They have to say and why yeah, and so the first step is off work to make sure your understanding what the other person is saying to you and why the assessment of that can come later and come a little bit down more down the road when you all are actually agreed about what it is that you're talking about. And so most difficult conversations need two steps. The first is are we understanding each other and more importantly are we understanding what's motivating us to say what we're saying our concerns are and then you move to the assessment level. Unfortunately, we always conflate those we can fly them in a way in which we try and create a debate cuz we're worried about who's right versus trying to understand one another and when you do it, when you engage on that basis alone, you almost never make progress in a conversation.

COVID-19 Learning Hubs

"Over affluent parents organizing private learning pods. You have found that there's actually an alternative emerging for families who don't have the means to hire private nannies or tutors. Tell us about that alternative. Yes, So I've been tracking these all over the country in New York City's Amber disco to Memphis, Tennessee, and they're sometimes called learning Hubbs or learning labs. And these air being organized by cities themselves or by school districts offer groups of students a safe place to go during the day and help with remote learning and free WiFi, which a lot of families don't have. And what's really important is they're either free thes. Cubs or very low cost and subsidised for the families that need it. So what exactly do these learning labs heir Learning hubs look like It's it's combo school, plus aftercare yet, basically so these air, you know, obviously really small groups of kids that's important for Corona virus safety. The locations are ranging from, You know, a school building A Y M C. A. A library. Some organizations are looking at the leasing space is like maybe even an empty university campus or a gym. And then, in some cases, school employees are actually working at thes helps. For example, I remember Station reporter over you has a WW Eno. She visited two of these learning hubs in New Orleans. And, she says, while child care is a really big draw. Families are also coming for the WiFi. Let's take a Listen. Dwight D. Eisenhower Charter School School leaders greet mass clad students as they make their way into the building. School normally serves more than 600 students. But today it's expecting fewer than two dozen It's because in New Orleans public schools are technically still close and learning is entirely virtual. Students that are here are attending the schools learning, huh? The cafeteria. Kids were separated into socially distance groups of nine each, quietly working away on their own device. They are loved in their signs up everywhere for the WiFi for she wants to get on to And then there are a lot of adults floating around to help and all the kids are wearing masks. Faculty are wearing masks and face shields as well. Hubs run by educators. Eisenhower principal Rolanda Green says a lot of students are here. For one thing. It literally is to get Internet access. And if you needed technology, we have it here available for you. City estimates that more than 9000 New Orleans students may not have Internet access for remote learning. It's far more kids in the local learning hubs are currently serving. Eisenhower is part of the inspired Nolan Charter Schools Network, which is funding and operating free hubs for almost 600 students. New Orleans public schools has committed to providing every student with a tablet or a laptop. But the devices aren't very helpful without an Internet connection. You can have a computer and can't utilize Google glass rooms right. That's Timlin, Sam's inspired Nola's director of community engagement. She says the hubs are an essential tool for ensuring equal access to virtual learning. She also points out that in New Orleans, a majority black school district, white Children are more likely to attend. A private school are private and parochial schools are back in session. None of our public schools are So we'll white Children are more likely to be back in the classroom. Black and brown students are mostly learning from home in many cases without reliable Internet. Spirt. Nola's hubs offer both Internet and supervision, but only one or two days a week. And even with staggered attendance, the network says it's at capacity with a wait list more than 200 students long City of New Orleans. Also operating learning hubs out of libraries and rec centers like this one in New Orleans East Just open five days a week. Seven greater as moral to Smith says she's happy to get out of her house. There is still considerable barriers. Families are responsible for transportation and the hubs get funding from the federal government, which involves a lot of paperwork. You know, we wish we could just have him fill out a simple registration performing get signed up right away. But that made it a little bit slower. And unfortunately, you know, for some families, they see all of that. And It's just a barrier. Wolf says. Family submitted interest forms for more than 1000 students in mid August, But so far only 100 Children are registered. City has room for 500 students and is already looking to expand. I'm upper you. Haas in New Orleans, and now we're back with Anya Kamenetz, NPR's education correspondent on you. As we listen to this, I'm sure many listeners were wondering about Krone, virus safety and wondering if it's not safe to open schools. How can it be safe enough to run these learning hubs? Yes, I think that's a really quick question. I need the biggest safety measure as we heard. Is keeping thes groups of Children very, very small, like nine kids at a time. The truth is, you know, it's really striking compared to all the angst that we're hearing about school, reopening the folks that I talk to you, like, especially the wine. See a actually expressed a fair amount of confidence in these hubs because they've been running childcare for months, with only a few scattered cases and no outbreak so far, certainly positive news. Yes. On the other hand, there is a potential additional issue with hubs that are not full time. Like the one that Eisenhower in New Orleans. And that is if the hub is only available A couple of days or hours in the week. Where are the kids the rest of the time? You know if they go somewhere else with a whole other group of kids That's multiplying contacts, and it's doing it potentially across multiple places. And I talked to William handed about this. He is at the Harvard Teach Chan School of Public Health, not adding new contacts should be the name of the game had just written about the dangers of hybrid school schedules. Because, you know, if you have kids in class on Mondays and Wednesdays, they might potentially be with a whole different group of Children. On Tuesdays and Thursdays. So on you if you have students who in some cases are in a school building during the school day with school personnel watching them following the school curriculum, why can't they just reopen the schools? Yeah. Ah, lot of people are asking that And you know the answer, I think is it takes money to open schools to all students full time while following CDC recommendations, you need lots of lots of space. You need probably more teachers, more people to watch the kids to spread out to keep them in small groups. And without, like a big federal relief package or something. City's air really in triage mode right now. So this is Maria Sue from San Francisco's Department of Children, Youth and Families. It was a balancing out there trying to figure out how many Children we would be able to appropriately served. So San Francisco literally sat down all their city agencies. They did a headcount of their most vulnerable kids. The ones in the shelter system, the ones in foster care, and they have promised to create 6000 community hub spaces for all of these kids at places like libraries and recreation centers so far, breeze who told me they've been able to create about a third of those This fall feels so much like a combination health and education experiment, even though it's really early into the back to school year. Do we know anything yet about how this experiment is affecting kids? Well, I can tell you that. Parents are extremely stressed out teachers, Air stressed. Ah, we know that kids already academically have been falling behind were many people that I talk to your child Advocates are extremely worried about the most vulnerable Children that aren't getting access to the meals they normally would have at school. So Really the long term picture is it's going to be a lot of remediation and a long road to get back to where we were before the pandemic. NPR's Anya Kamenetz, Thank you for.

What Should I Look For In A College

"I before finding a college and thinking about things to consider when fighting college is really important to start with yourself. What do you value? What type of academic environment will lead you towards your goals? And then it makes the process that much easier to focus on the school. So to help you share five factors to consider as you're thinking about a college. So number one focus on the major do you know what you already want to study if? So that's great check to see if the colleges on your shortlist of that specific major. But if you're not sure what you want to study, that's okay to just make sure that the colleges at you're interested in have a wide variety of majors from which to choose that way you can explore and. As you're discovering what it is, you wanNA major in it will make it easier to land into that major without adding time to the clock and you can do this by clicking on maybe the academic tab on their website to take a look at their majors or contact the office of admissions source. If there's a way you can get on their mailing lists to get a paper brochure for your specific major go through look take a look at it take a look at majors, minors concentrations, but see what they actually offer in terms of the program. Now the second thing is the financial factor. So what is the cost of attendance? You know all the cost associated with going to that particular school, the tuition fees, the room and board all let's involved with attending that particular school. But you also want to focus on the money that they offer. So check out the scholarships and I'm GonNa talk about that in today's scholarship tip. Now don't let the sticker price scare you because often what the published price is depending on your personal financial position as a household. Most likely, not be what you pay So it's it's important to build a list, but I want you to focus on that financial peace and you can do that with some researches well. The third factor, your student activities. So think about what you're currently doing at high school that you enjoy. Do you want to continue to do some of that? Maybe if you're part of your high school's band, do you WanNa be a part of your colleges band or maybe you're looking forward to try and things that you weren't able to do in high school maybe you live in more inland and you want to go to a school. Close to the beach or close to bodies of water because you want to study something related to marine life and and so you're gonNA explore things that you never could really do. But take a look at their activities, think about your interests and find a college that allows you to explore and pursue those interests. So not just the academic focus, but those extra curricular. So student activities, and again, you can check out what the school has to offer by going to their website and taking a look at student life and activities. You know maybe doing a search if it's not real easy to find with a TAB but. One of the best ways I like to do it and I tell students my students to do this. is by checking out their instagram page because what I find on the website. Those are sometimes staged photos or very they're very scripted. But when you go to an instagram page, that's real life that shows you what's happening it's in the moment and even if it's done by the school, if it's schools instagram page, they're capturing actual students doing whatever it is. that. That particular activity is and so that's a great way to find out what some of those student activities are. Now. The fourth thing focus on the campus amenities. So those are some of the. The the extra things that you're going to spend your time doing or participating in, and that would be residence life. So where are going to sleep and live dining you know are there campus options if you're in a city area or an area where there are many restaurants in a college town or you know It on campus dining? What are some of the meal plans available? Do you have to use their meal plans? do they accommodate special diets such as Vegan or gluten free but back to the residence halls? What type of halls are there singles? Doubles doubles, apartment styles how much do they cost? WHO's eligible are their communities where you are grouped with the students who are like minded may by the same major or same special interest some schools call those living learning communities. So do they offer that kind of experience in their residence hall? Then, also may be some additional on site services such as tutoring and students support. If you have a student who needs a little extra help do they offer support for students with learning differences? So finding out what are some of those? Amenities medical facilities is there a place on campus for medical care if your students should get sick or your students should have an accident maybe they follow their bike and you know and hurt themselves what do they do? Where do they go? So some college campuses have on campus pharmacies there have Banks, grocery stores, counseling centers. So find out what some of those onsite services are, and then is there a place not for just organized sports in terms of soon activities, but for recreational opportunities so maybe there's a REC center or a gem or they offer group fitness classes or they have a you know a basketball corridor you know just some of those other recreational opportunities available because you're gonNA spend just as much time outside of the classroom. As you are inside and so. Your mental wellness where you sleep where you eat your eating options, all those things are just as important.

Interview With Mayor John Gates On Partial Reopening

"Com by really mayor John Gates Mayor Gates welcome back to the show. Good to be with you good morning to you. I certainly appreciate your taking the time and there's a lot going on. As Greeley of course, as other cities across the state, indeed across the nation, enjoying a return to some semblance of normalcy. Tell us what that looks like. Well you're right. There is some sense normalcy the fact that where we get the restaurants back open. At least to an extent, you know pretty pretty well, said all along that the two entities that have really suffered from the Kobe closures are restaurants and churches. And the church is still are suffering, unfortunately, due to the fifty person rule, but My wife and I've been out several times since we've been able to sit down and Dine I. Guess It's the small things you appreciate because that surely has been nice. It's kind of fascinating when you think about it because we were talking about this just last week, the fact that going out to a restaurant is like. Taking a world cruise or taking a trip to the moon. Again it is a return to the small things that makes such a difference in in our lives. If there's any good, take away from all this. Maybe that's that. Makes, you appreciate the small things never did. I think I would miss. so much being able to go, sit down, have a cup of coffee with somebody or better yet a meal and while we certainly a lot of carry out. It's not the same as going to sit in a restaurant and catching up on the day and getting warm food versus the. Wolf lukewarm food when the carry out outcome, so that's where they've been great and. I were phone boxes here. Exactly, the Styrofoam box and we're starting to get things open back up the city to the degree that we can which is good. There's a slow rollout occurring today with our fixed up transit buses We're opening municipal court backup today. we've got some Other departments opening drive through or by appointment only so slowly, but surely not quite yet on the cool. The REC centers part of the problem with the pool. and. Even the REC centers is that we've got that fifty person maximum. And we talked a great wink at our city council meeting last night about specifically centennial pool and the to dilemmas. We have one is that we saw that is that at the beginning of this laid off all her stuff seasonal swig. We can obviously get some of them back. To run the pool, but our parks and REC. Director colors that we get. During Summer Day especially these that have been so warm three to four hundred kids centennial pool every day, so if we can only it fifty. That's problematic so while I understand the reason for that in an area that says large as as much square footage of centennial pool. I hope the governor loosens that fairly soon to allow us to adapt at number to a more appropriate number which folks we might be having using them so. Now. We're looking forward to. If I'm not mistaken here under this amended safer at home order, a swimming pools again allowed to reopen. Once those draft guidelines are improved. Final draft of those guidelines will be available on Thursday. Is that what you're hearing is absolutely what I'm hearing. Yeah, so. we're. We're kind of sitting at the ready waiting for some of those. Things to happen I've been A number of local pastors have reached out to me and we feel for them from the standpoint that I spoke to a pastor yesterday. WHO said you know I have eight hundred people in my congregation and I can easily socially distance and keep everybody safe by allowing four hundred in, but the current rules only allow fifty, so they're looking at some things like outside and. And they're really getting the short end right now at a time when people may be more than ever need to services of their church and their pastor, so we're. We're getting there. probably not as quite as quickly as I'd like. We are starting to make some open or Kobe. Numbers really leveled out that we're really happy about that. And what about Jay BS? Swift the meat processing plant in Greeley. What are you hearing about that up? Not very much they're not, they're not yet at full capacity of I'm hearing they've not had any deaths and knock on wood in a couple of weeks. I don't know to what degree they have employs out sick, but. It was certainly tragic. Losing the workers they did and I hope everybody's. Certainly getting better and have not heard anything to the contrary. Now back to restaurants, and again we've talked about this to a great extent, because our return to daily life and living space to lot upon our confidence level, so I'm curious as you've been eating out at restaurants. Are you seen? folks coming to restaurants and being comfortable enjoying the opportunity to just get out and dine again. I I absolutely have The restaurants that that I've been to certainly the restaurants who are following the rules doing everything right there, socially distancing their staffs. Geared up with the appropriate PP HE I. Know People personally and I've seen some commentary from others that said. There's just no way we're ready to go out right now and that that's totally fine. It's the person ought to be able to make some personal choices in life, and for those that aren't comfortable going out that's certainly a decision that they or their families should make I my family is comfortable, going out while adhering to. safety guidelines, but they've not been packed. Of course. The law would know rats that the restaurants that I've been to have certainly had decent amount of people and The restaurant tours is really doing a great job complying with. What they've been asked to comply with so very pleased at this point. What about expansion not only patio dining. Using additional space around restaurants if it indeed is available that seems to be a point of some conversation and debate. It does end up. Council fully supports. A business whether they're downtown or another parts of Greeley the opportunity to expand their turning footprint. It's a what easier for them to do. Downtown because the city owns the real estate Some of the restaurants that aren't downtown are going to have to seek permission from whoever owns the property to expand out, but that doesn't fact gives them the opportunity. To seat more, we've been working closely with the downtown restaurant tours to expand their footprint which would involve alcohol service and be able to get more customers. Be Able to make Starts get back on our feet again financially. And there's. An ordinance pending that would allow the areas on the ninth street plazas to be open container areas. Temporary so. Something I think the council doesn't WANNA do year round Norwood, the restaurant tours in the middle of winter want people to be sitting outside, but it is perhaps not an opportunity for the period from about now until Labor.

"Rec center network in this city yeah right they're going to be closed but the question was on a rec centers they will be what we're gonna get more into this tomorrow we're gonna have a a number of of orders that we discussed tomorrow but one of the things we'll be talking about tomorrow is severely restricting the indoor facilities at our rec centers but keeping them for the purpose of after school food delivery many of our kids after school go direct centers and receive in some cases a meal and just as Cincinnati public schools is announcing tomorrow their plans to make sure that people who get their breakfast and lunch at school will continue to do so we will also be at announcing plans on how our rec centers will still be able to provide that critical service it is clearly the case that all of this is incredibly disruptive and we're going to have children at home and as you heard the governor talk about relating to daycare more orders are going to come from the governor around daycare and he already said today that he wants you to take your child out of day care if you can that's pretty powerful statement and so we're going to have as you rightly predicted issues with kids with time on their hands and we are asking people to stay at home and we are asking that if people go in public that they maintain a six feet distance as reasonably possible we know this isn't in perfect implementation you know people need to get exercise I can go for walks they can go for hikes but candidly you need to do so you know by yourself for just with your immediate family and that's what we're encouraging people to do obviously you have to pass people on the sidewalk in less than six feet so we of course have got to use common sense and reasonableness in all of this but we will use reasonable nis and common sense and all of this and we're asking all of us use collective common sense lockdown D. cities or neighborhoods yeah it's being discussed or is on the table at this point or is it too early it is not on that we're not actively pursuing that now and you know candidly these rumors around a curfew around quarantine keep coming up what this it we're not going to surprise anybody you're not going to like wake up or not just wait I'm not going to end up at five o'clock and say there's a curfew at six o'clock we are planning for all contingencies but we have no plans right now to issue a curfew but obviously this is changing by the day and you know candidly we were talking about we were planning to issue an order about social distancing within restaurants tomorrow but the governor obviously not only did that but went much further and shutting down in indoor restaurants and and in bars all together except for Kerry out and drive through in so you you know candidly I believe if a curfew a quarantine comes it's more likely to come from the president or from the governor and of course we will implement accordingly but we know how disruptive all this is and we I am confident that the governor and doctor acting or acting in the best interest with the best information a half and based on science and and public health and so so far we have not felt the need yeah as of now to go more restrictive we may be as weak as Dr Moore said getting into best practices around food preparation around drive through and carry outs and things like that but that's consistent with what the governor has issued Cincinnati mayor John Cranley giving an update on the city's response echoing what his cooperation and take care of your family call the elderly call your loved ones and and check in on thank you very much for visiting there John Cranley echoing many of the mayors of the Ohio governor's comments when it comes to practicing hygiene and social distancing mayor Cranley saying that there was going to be an order given in the city when it comes to social distancing for bars and restaurants but again Ohio governor Mike DeWine has taken that a step further by ordering all bars and restaurants in the state of Ohio to shut down the time on that set to happen at nine o'clock tonight employees at bars who will no longer be allowed to work will be able to apply for unemployment compensation and they will not the have to wait the one week waiting period that one week waiting period that is standard when it comes to unemployment in the state of Ohio that has been waived in other news in Kentucky governor Beshear gave an update today in the Commonwealth's response to corona virus governors you're saying one person with confirm case remains in bad shape the corona virus is not the only factor in that individual's condition it is certainly a contributing factor our prayers are with that individual's family no deaths reported in Kentucky however just yet twenty confirmed cases now so far in the Commonwealth governor Beshear says he is not going to go as far as Ohio has bars and restaurants in Kentucky right now are not being ordered to shut down at this time in the state of Indiana cases there continue to jump up for new coronavirus cases have cropped up in Indiana total of nineteen in that state the Indiana state department of health said today that new covered nineteen cases involve people who live in Hamilton and Marion counties that is in central Indiana state officials say that eleven Indiana counties now have cases for most people the new coronavirus causes just mild or moderate symptoms that widespread closures are continuing in Indiana as well as they try to slow down the spread now the latest on coronavirus Cities set up shelters to protect residents from wildfire smoke

"Wildfire. Smoke can travel hundreds of miles beyond the flames and breathing. It is dangerous particularly for people with heart. Conditions or lung. Diseases does asthma. So it's important for vulnerable people. Avoid SMOKY AIR. But sometimes that's easier said than done because smoke particles can seep indoors especially in leaky houses without air conditioning. When fire causes a lot of smoke after a couple of days often indoor air quality is not much better than the outdoor air quality that Sally Mcgee a consultant who works with the British Columbia Center for Disease Control. She says some cities and towns are setting up so called clean air shelters like a REC center or an arena or school or something like that community spaces that are available for people to go to and have some respite from smokey conditions. For example Seattle has announced a plan to equip five buildings including community centers and event spaces with strong air filtration systems as the climate changes intense. Wildfires are growing more common. So gay says it's important to educate people about the health impacts of wildfire smoke and find ways to protect them.

Between President Trump's Border Wall And The Rio Grande Lies A 'No Man's Land'

"President trump is moving ahead with his border wall yesterday. He signaled that he wants to divert three point eight billion dollars from the Pentagon's budget and set it. Aside for border wall construction that is on top of the eleven billion dollars already planned but down on the border of the project is wreaking havoc for landowners in Texas. It's being built right. Through the middle of many properties leaving thousands of acres in a kind of no man's land between the barriers and the Rio Grande and John Burnett reports this overgrown thorn scrub is the Nether world between the United States and Mexico to the north border fence to the south the muddy meandering Rio Grande. This was Fort Brown Memorial Golf Course on the side of the historic fortification. That gave the city. Its name but with the US government. I started building border. Barriers under President George W. Bush. The entire eighteen hole course ended up on the south side of the fence. Golfers didn't like having to drive through a gate and being walled off from the rest of the city. This spit of land suddenly felt unsafe. None of us come over here. You don't feel protected in any part of the land is south of the wall. Who'll yet Garcia is former president of the University of Texas Brownsville which used to operate the skull course but when the golfers stopped coming it went bankrupt today the clubhouse shuttered and the wants manicured Greens have returned to nature. What used to be a very active place very friendly place for students and far golf team and for Winter Texans has become a deserted sad desolate. No Man's land. President trump has pledged to build more than five hundred miles of new border. Wall out west. It runs along the straight land boundary with Mexico but in Texas that line is the curvy Rio Grande and because of flooding concerns. The Wall is often built some distance away as much as a mile north of the river. The defunct Fort Brown Memorial Golf. Course is a cautionary tale landowners fear. The Wall will effectively sever their acreage from the United States leading. It abandoned lawless and unprofitable so far fifty. Five property owners have gone to court to try to block construction to hear their concerns. I headed West on military highway. First stop is the River Bend Resort and golf club where the owners were planning a major expansion worth. Millions of dollars then came the border wall. The thirty foot wall through the middle of the property kills our project completely kills our project. Jeremy Bernard is part of the family that owns river band. Nearly seven hundred Americans and Canadians from the frigid north moved down here during the winter to enjoy. Short sleeves and Margaritas Bernard Parks his golf cart on the Levy. That overlooks the curved streets. Lined with fancy mobile homes and palm trees. This is where the proposed alignment is from Border Patrol. The problem with that is seventy percent of our property is south of the Levy that includes the REC center the pool tennis courts and fifteen of eighteen holes. All of it would be cut off by the wall. The frustrating thing Bernard says is they rarely see unauthorized immigrants and drug smugglers passing through here. His family is negotiating urgently with customs and Border Protection to move the wall slightly north. So it won't slice their property in half and yet Jeremy Bernard's politics haven't changed he remains loyal to President trump. And I've got friends that disagree with me and they say how could you vote for this man? What his wall wants to tear apart your community. The main thing I tell them look the thought that I'm going to agree. One hundred percent with somebody especially a politician is just outrageous. I just have an issue with the blanket. Let's build a wall everywhere as you continue on military highway urbanized. Brownsville gives way to fields of onions. Cotton and corn here. I find Richard Roy at his farm headquarters leaning on his pickup truck. He's this rich Delta soil all of his life I'm seventy years old and It just it's GonNa ruin my lifestyle here of been living in the country. I've never lived in town and To have that wall. There's just GonNa really disturb me but drawing Nosey can't beat Washington DC so last fall. He reluctantly SOLD THE GOVERNMENT. Aruban of land so they could erect the wall across his crop. Rose like Jeremy Bernard Richard draw supports trump and his all four increasing border security. He just doesn't want the wall in his property. I told him you know this stupid wall is going to have lights on it. It's GONNA be like being in prison while lights and everything and I said You put them lives up on me on my house. You know more. Shoot him out. Of course I have time to calm down. Joy has seen what's happened over the past decade to Riverside land that's isolated by the border wall weeds. Takeover and people are afraid to go there anymore on his farm. He's worried that bad hombres will cross the river from Mexico and threatened his farm hands. He says the wall seeds has property down by the river to Mexico. Like Tola Board. Joe I said look you know goodwill how you build a wall. All agents will done trolling up and down the law. They're never going to go on down to the river anymore. He yield back into the Rio. Grande is the first line of Defense Baloney. You just wait a few years. I shared these misgivings with C. Bp a spokesman responded the Border Patrol will continue to operate on both sides of the barrier to include the riverine environment further. They'll install electric gates with security codes to give landowners access to the south side of the wall. My Westward John. Across the valley terminates at the rustic campground of the Cavazos family. Fred is seventy and in a wheelchair. They were race here. My Dad taught me how to fish. Here OUTTA. Get a shovel and dig worms. He says they run a few cows but the main income is from tenants who built weekend shanties along the water's edge. A lot of time on boats a lot of own jet skis so they come down with us and sausages Saturdays and Sundays and barbecue. It's a hundred four and five so they feel great where you're out there jet skiing. The government wants to put the wall and a wide patrol zone. Along the north end of their property. Cavazos worries it will drive away. His tenants who may not want to be walled off from the rest of Texas like many large families down here the Cavazos clan is split someone to accept what they think is a generous offer from the government. Nearly four hundred thousand dollars for SIX ACRES BUT COUSIN. Ray who seventy-five wonders what happens? If one day they put the land up for sale. The problem is the devaluation of the property. Nobody wants to buy property. That's on the Riverside of the wall. So this is what the fight is going to be about ray. Infrared are fighting the government in federal court. They want to drag it out until election day hoping that the Democrat wins the White House and halts the border wall

"And I'm John Mayer in the yeah because I was not it's really fun watching this team I got your roster media what realize you always you less than normal I know you're from out level right not to like how many kids we like playing the Brookline rec center how to start how to start with well a lot they're a good team they're not bad at but the strangest things happened you never now like they could be the best team all year and get slapped in the plans you just don't know what any of these games are going to do the penguins the capitals the islanders the Tampa Bay the Tampa Bay kicked everyone's **** all last year and I got knocked out of the playoffs the red hot right now they're scoring Toronto's red eye but I don't care about being red hot in the first week of January it means nothing to me to me this season just started like seven days ago no but there's one thing that Jack says that that's so true and he's like I'm having so much fun right now watching this team because the teams waiting with a bunch of guys choice when cross he went down and this guy went down cancel goes down you think in well this is gonna suck could be where we're not gonna be good this year and they're doing well and that's why than ever that's why you're having fun because when it's unexpected it's fun just like last year the hours for me nobody thought they're gonna be good it was fun because you get those great unexpected year and even though the penguins win every year and they're always in the mix what a bunch of guys go down you think it's not gonna happen for you this year and all of a sudden you're thirteen three in one since December first and all these kids that are on the team are winning it enhances it makes it more fun because you don't expect it yeah it's crazy I'm enjoying it like I really enjoyed watching that game tonight I only picked it up in the early in the second but I watch the rest of it it was a crazy game and you know as you know Jack I love the penguins more than my family very important to say that at this hour and not earlier when my family could have heard me they don't like hearing that I love hockey more than them sometimes you just have to let things in life John in Maryland you're on the bench Hannah not too much good I could I get a shot around me can we get a little ran me a little rainy Martin Jack and I got you all a dead man at that spot I want to say a couple days are hearing you plan that you think knoll is under rate it like all the time as far as like NFL coaches I do I agree completely I love my family it's mark maybe like Chuck Noland another guy that under rating is joke yeah I'm a I'm a Redskins fan and I was low key it when we last won the Superbowl but hi I don't know I think guy I actually think Joe Gibbs gets way more respect than Chuck knoll does Joe Gans everyone everyone talks about Joe Gibbs like he's god and then when they when they brought him back to the Redskins they took they treated him like he was god and then it even in NASCAR the guys got a reputation that's just sparkling I said as I think he gets way more respect than a jungle does channel of course died but jock in my view I mean my god the guy went to four super bowls you won all four of them I mean when when he took over the Steelers they were that they were **** they were the worst team in the NFL bar none and then a bill to amend do just to absolute power and a dynasty four super bowls in six years and it gets no recognition whatsoever no one ever talks about him at all the only people that ever talk about amber's NFL network the NFL films show old footage of Chuck knoll that's it there's no modern television host or radio host anywhere that talks about Chuck knoll unless they're in Pittsburgh that's it right right now I understand what you're saying and I don't know maybe use it the outlook expected back get but on the other thing I want to say it was land I'm no matter the struggles that basketball army and they accused Arnold's and stuff like that but Hey I would love to win against Indiana the other day I love the winter night not only ten states all but if they correct the small things using ma'am we could potentially make a run at the final four maybe I don't know that dad but I know that it you know I bet against him with the Indiana and Ohio state I got burned by the time so they're they're winning their top I did get a bunch of those games were in College Park so it's a it's a lot easier when in games on your home floor that it is on a road in the big ten so you know they lost to Penn state see nabi to see laws and a tough team and with pal plays they're they're even tougher but you know it's hard to win on the road in the big ten cell let's see I'm on the road kick some **** and take some names and then in the NC double a tournament you play in neutral sites all the time you're not playing on your home floor so we'll see how they do and you know in in hostile environments I mean I don't consider playing at home in front of a packed house of Maryland Terrapins hard experience form they get all the calls home cook and all deal eight five five two one two four CD as they get on the bench interesting creature.
