"Extraordinary. His Gutfeld show is primarily a cable show. The other programs are on primarily on over the air television stations. Now I get that people get TV in 95,000 different ways anymore, and it's not like some people evident. 10 and other people have cable. There's streaming services, and some people can get some channels and some people can get other channels but the reach of the other shows. Is greater than the reach of gut fell show. In other words, more people have access. Jimmy Kimmel, Greg Gutfeld because the TV that they have but offered the NBC affiliate more likely than they would offer. Fox News and so on. So Gutfeld is number one, even though his show is available in a lower percentage of homes than the other programs. And again. I don't know if great going to sustain that, after show will still be good in a year of, you know in you still have those kind of ratings and so on. But this is an extraordinary thing. Little late night show on cable. Is outdrawing the ratings of all the late night TV talk shows and My explanation again without being redundant is similar other than a little bit of style. What is the difference between Fallon and Colbert. Kimmel. I mean, they're all just what's the difference? Nothing but Gutfeld show is clearly different. "We are America. As I say. Liberties lost on a minute to by minute basis coming up in the three o'clock hour. We're going to have a conversation with a woman who could very well be Wisconsin's next governor. Today. Rebecca Kleefisch, former lieutenant governor under governor, Scott Walker. Hadn't as announced that she will indeed enter the ring and the race for 2022. We'll talk to Rebecca Kleefisch more about 3 15. Regarding her run and the campaign ahead. Right now, Speaking of the campaign looks like, uh, old Tony's numbers are sagging a little bit, perhaps like his spirits. Uh, Evers. Poll numbers plummeting Doctor Will Flanders, research director for the Wisconsin Institute for Law and Liberty is joining us now to talk a little bit about a new will pull that was commissioned by Renowned polls. Store pollster. Uh You know, the, uh have some information. More information on this now with Dr Will Flanders. Good afternoon, sir. How are you? Good afternoon. Thanks for having me on doing well. Yeah, I'm glad to have you here. The numbers are very interesting. Very telling. This was put together by Scott Rasmussen, who is you know he's He's no champ when it comes to the world of poll polling. I mean, this guy is pretty well known and has been pretty accurate over the years regarding his polls and got some interesting numbers. Now a governor That is below 50% is almost near that underwater range. Let's take a look at some of the top line numbers well. Yeah, That's absolutely right. So you know, we decided, as you said, it's election season is beginning to ramp up it be a good time to sort of get a state of play. And if we're going to do that, in Wisconsin or really anywhere in the country, we knew partnering with a thought rescues and it's sort of the way to go and we look at a number of different issues. Um, primarily looking at a lot of the election, build an election integrity issues. But we also included the overall approval for the governor, and we found him to be within that margin of error. We found him to be at 48 to 47 the margin of error on our poll with a 1000 registered voters throughout the state of Wisconsin is about 3.1%. So not sort of the high approval ratings we've been seen before, And we think you know a number of issues, you know, including the election, integrity stuff. We talked about this poll but also the continuing effects of school closures of these Endless debates about masking in schools and things like that happen CRT and pools. We think all of these things are having an effect. Will Flanders from the Wisconsin Institute for Law and Liberty, joining us on this edition of the Vicki McKenna Show. I find it interesting if you look and you compare the Rasmus and numbers with the Marquette Law School poll, the last or latest most recent Marquette Law School poll. Showed the governor at 50%, But look back over time. Will I find it Fascinating. This is a governor, uh, from March late march of 2020 at the beginning of the pandemic. To today has dropped 17% points You remember in March at the beginning of the pandemic when it seemed like a lot of Wisconsinites were frightened what was to come and they were looking for leadership from their chief executive. Uh and you know he had 65% in terms of favorability or support that has dropped, according to this latest poll down to the 47% level. I think his handling of the pandemic has a lot to do with that. What do you think? Absolutely right. I think you know for over a year now, right where we're a year and a half into this pandemic, and people have been looking for leadership from the governor's office. Uh, The entire time. We've also been looking for him to work with the Legislature and come up with sort of compromises and reforms that actually are sort of measures that could be reasonably agreed to, you know, not unilateral mandate. Not things along those lines. He is essentially continually tried to go on and on his own from our legal side. We've had a number of obviously lawsuits over the past year to sort of prevent that. We've been relatively successful, but the end result is a governor that doesn't show leadership unwilling to work with the the people in the Legislature to make reasonable attempts to get things done. And when, instead just rather take his mandate that he can have his band Aid will take his ball and go home and you're absolutely right. The poll numbers we have here are not really inconsistent with what you've seen in the Marquette poll. There's a continual downward trend. Think just since we've been in the field a little bit more recently, we're seeing drop below that 50% level. Will Flanders, research director for the Wisconsin Institute for Law and Liberty, joining us this hour in the Vicki McKenna show. You know, this is a governor who has become the governor of No, You mentioned it before he's going to go it alone. He's not going to work with Republicans and no matter how the left and their public relations firm in the mainstream media like to frame this There have been a number many myriad examples of Republicans, Republican leadership reaching out to the governor. There have been many examples of the governor, not even returning their phone calls. Unfortunately, when he does return their phone calls, he's recording them secretly. So that's the kind of situation that we have in the state of Wisconsin right now. But he has rejected a number of pieces of legislation that are quite frankly as you note in this poll, quite popular with Wisconsinites, particularly after the debacle of an election of November 2020. Your polling numbers show great support for things, voter integrity measures like voter ID. And these others. These are bills that the governor has, um out of hand vetoed and rejected. Yeah, That's absolutely right. So you know what we wanted to do here was sort of look at some of the measures that have been proposed, as well as a number of other sort of reasonable common sense Reforms to see. Across the state with the level of support for them was obviously the governor is couched these things as being extremely partisan, and you look at the votes in the Legislature. For most of these things. They're along partisan lines, but, you know, not just the governor, but the Democratic Party. Elected Democratic Party of the whole that's been in opposition. Um, but across a number of different election reform measures that we looked at, we found not only Republican support, not only independent support, but even a majority of Democrats supporting Reforms give you a couple examples here. One of the main ones is with this with the notion of ballot curing. So what we know from you know, this larger election study that we're engaging in the other groups are engaging is is that Alec curing, even if it's you know, we think it probably shouldn't be happening. We know what's happening throughout the state. This is where elections officials go in and make corrections to errors on ballots. What we know is that that varies from municipality to municipality. And your chance of having your vote counted in Milwaukee is different than it is in Walkinshaw is different than it is in Madison varies throughout the state. We have people should there be a uniform standard for first ballot curing..

Federal workforce is one of the largest in the country, and we would like to be a model to what we think other Businesses and organizations should do around the country. President Biden expected to give remarks a little bit later this afternoon here at home, a middle school, with roughly 500 students in Milwaukee, moving virtually for the next 10 days. MPs says Morris Middle School temporarily moving to an online learning model after roughly 3% of its population tested positive for Covid 19 over the last 14 days. District spokesperson would not confirm to The Journal Sentinel. How many students had tested positive. The union representing Milwaukee public School teachers, once the city of Milwaukee to reimpose an indoor mask mandate citywide, Mt. However, did you keep this secret for so long? Yes. I know. I know. It is the worst kept secret in Wisconsin politics, But, you know, I am super proud. Uh, Our team. I'm super proud of the work that led up to this moment. I was so delighted to see you know, a couple 100. People show up at my dad's company this morning, and you know it was. It was a special moment. Ellis flew home from college and violence took the day off of school, which deeply disappointed her as you might imagine, Um, and you know, we're all in the car right now, on our way to Appleton, and then after that, Wassana and then back To walk a shock county for our final event of the night, But I hope that that is indicative of the type of work. I'm going to put into this because then you have seen Your listeners have seen the failed and incompetent leadership of Tony Evers and what it has done to the state of Wisconsin. What a disaster. These last two years have been, and we're offering something different, a far more aspirational and reasonable, honest vision for the future. And I could not be more excited about it. I mean, I'm I'm running because I have two kids that I just want to come back to Wisconsin to live their American dreams and hopefully one day raise their families. But Order to do that. We're going to need to have safe streets. We're going to need actually accountable schools and great paying jobs. And Tony Evers is not the way to get there. Why are you qualified? More than any other Republican who might have already entered the race or enters the race? From here on out? Why are you more qualified? To run them them. Why are you qualified bottom line to be governor of the state of Wisconsin? Then I have both the passion and the experience. I did spend eight years As Scott Walker's lieutenant governor, and in my capacity as lieutenant governor. Things were a little bit different than what you have seen and lieutenant governors in Wisconsin's history. I was actually in all of the budget meetings, asking the questions and helping to refine and define the policy. I was in all of the Cabinet meetings, and when the governor was out of town, I led the Cabinet meetings. I also led my own initiative. Everything from our tax reform round tables to starting the governor's small business stomach to starting a small business academy in order to connect entrepreneurs to the resources they need to start their own small businesses. I led a task force on minority unemployment. I led the task force on opioids abuse with John Nygren. And on top of that, you know, I chaired a couple national organizations, even a lot of federal agency in Washington D C for year after I lost my job as lieutenant governor, I'm ready and there is no one else who can hit the ground running in the way I can and who will Serve the people of Wisconsin with the passion and the knowledge that I have Now you faced criticism for the organization that you just cited the 18 48 project, which for full disclosure has been running ads on our flagship station W I s N radio that this was essentially a campaign. Outfit. How do you respond to what Democrats are already calling, Uh, shady behavior on your part? Have been 100% transparent about the purpose of the 18 48 project from its inception. I said that we have too many people in Wisconsin who feel unheard and unless ins too, and it should be the people dictating the policy to the government, and not the other way around. And so I started the 18 48 project named for When Wisconsin became a state and our pioneer spirit. I started the 18 48 project to travel the state and truly listen. In listening sessions, take notes and write down people's policy ideas, solicit their thoughts about how to make a better Wisconsin and I promised that we would build all of their good ideas into the policy agenda for Wisconsin's future, and I delivered I have done more than 50 listening sessions across the state of Wisconsin, an additional 22 sessions just to a scholars and experts to establish the viability in the constitutionality of the policy choices that we made to include in the documents that we release Just a couple of weeks ago called the forward agenda with our top 56 policy objectives or Wisconsin's future. And before you ask Well, is this your platform? I'm going to tell you This should be and I've said it from the start. This should be Everyone. Vision for Wisconsin. Conservative, reasonable, bold future This should be him. No all conservatives. Thing from because these are the ideas that unite us the ideas that come directly from the people. And there they are. But I'm proud of the work that we have done listening the people of this confidence. Now, after the election of 2020, Ms Kleefisch, the Overwhelming sentiment of conservatives and trust me. I have heard this more than most. Because the investigation I did into the integrity of the 2020 election here in Wisconsin, there is widespread sentiment. That because there wasn't enough done that The 2022 election will be marred by the same problems without getting into what you would do as governor because the more immediate concern is what you would do as a candidate as we saw things like democracy in the park in Madison leading up to the 2020 election as we saw things like Clerks in Dane County in Milwaukee County, giving patently unlawful advice for people to mark themselves as indefinitely confined to skirt voter idea requirements. As we see all of these things develop, and they will undoubtedly develop in the run up to 2022 over the next year. How will you pledge to your voters to conservatives across Wisconsin that you will do everything you can to challenge changes to the law made at the last minute to challenge The effort to put a weight on the scales of electoral justice here in Wisconsin. Well, First of all we need to pursue of full forensic audit. And I think we are seeing that through the work of both state wrapped in L branch in and justice Michael Gable men through WHO Speaker Flosses Initiative to investigate 2020. I am focused and someone must be on fall of 22. But to your point we're going to go into that race, fighting under the exact same walls and what we fought under in 2020, which means we must have a ruthless Hard working ethic grassroots effort in order to assure that we have the votes to take back the governor's office November 8th of 2022. That's going to involve five strong strategy, most of which is documented, frankly, in an op ed that you wrote. Some time ago, and I hope because I'm talking about it right now that you would be willing to maybe repost it at the top of your Web page because in it, Dan, you talk about the Harvard Cummings as Republicans and one of the things that we will tackle in our campaign and in conjunction with Patriot groups and the Republican Party across the state. One of those things is we have 72 counties, but we have 72 Republican Party branches across Wisconsin. As we are just two days away from the 20th anniversary of 9 11, a story of sacrifice of duty and of heroism that you might not have heard in the history books. We went to last night to meet the teacher event at my Kids Middle school. And in both his English and social studies classes. They're doing things on 9 11, and what really struck me was that his English teacher said that what if his assignments my sons was going to be interviewing somebody who was alive? 9 11. And it was yet another reminder that these kids who are 13 14 years old. Were born. Six years after the twin towers fell that in order to get that sort of perspective, that immediacy of what 9 11 means. They need to talk to someone older than them. In fact, I believe I saw a statistic that 100 million people a third of this country. Was born after 9 11. 9 11 in the 20 years, since it happened has has really in a very real sense become history. It's sort of like for those of us in my generation, the older millennials The Kennedy assassination is something we only learned about in history books. It happened about 20 years after I was born. Same thing with Pearl Harbor. Those seminal moments eventually become historical events. That are taught about in history books. But coming up at 10 20 a story that you might not have heard a story that you've likely heard in the media for the past couple of days is a bit of fearmongering about the rate of covid cases. By the way, I should point out that no one not a single person, not a single solitary soul has texted me about anybody other than Rebecca Kleefisch on this list. The governor from the North Woods, everybody but the other people on this The question I had is who can beat Tony Evers Tony Evers is infinitely beatable. But I'm not sure that anybody on this list does it texture here in the 507 Ben. My problem with Rebecca Kleefisch is that she feels like the next up Republican. I will see who runs and makes my chase choice based on the strongest candidate in every sense of that term, another texture here and I would get moved because we just got a ton of text texture in the 414 said, Ben, I have a bad feeling that the Wisconsin Republican Party is going to be M I A on this Now we had somebody from the Milwaukee County Republican Party call and tell me that it's been a little too rough to spread the love, he said. And by the way, asked Democrats are out there planning to cheat to win next year. What's our plan? And and he said, Well, we don't cheat. Maybe we should You know, are the Brewers cheating when the pitcher's spray sunscreen into their hair and then run their hands through their hair? Pick up the rising bag. And now all of a sudden that ball spinning like a monster is that cheating is stealing signs from second base cheating. If everybody's cheating, is it cheating? Democrats take this stuff seriously. They know that in order to win, they have to have an organized Kevin look at what Mark Zuckerberg's money did in Green Bay and Republicans are like, Well, I I think that will just voters have to have a desire to go to the polls. No. The party has to step up and start to do stuff. That's one of the reasons why most of the talking text line is filled with people. Who are anybody but the former lieutenant governor. I know Vicki McKenna interviews him a lot, and she also does the same thing as Ron Johnson. He just believable person, But my concern with him is he always runs as a Democrat. And how are we going to get Republican money? Into a Democrat candidate. Well, I think, yeah, I think he could switch parties in two seconds and and and no one would know one to run for months and months. I listen to him all the time on your radio station that he's great. I mean, he thinks like me. Yeah, I'm behind him. 100%. I think I think that the sheriff Clarke has and and and thanks so very, very much, Teresa, I I really appreciate thanks for taking the time and and calling us here. I think that the Sheriff Clarke has a tremendous amount of crossover ability. I think that the Sheriff Clarke at a time when crime is going to become one of the major issues in the governor's race. I think that that he would have that presence, But I gotta tell you Listen, I do conservative talk radio for a living. There are a lot of people on the right who really, really, really, really, really love Sheriff Clark. And he said some things that turn up on conservative Twitter that moderate voters in Brookfield would be kind of Again. No candidates going to be perfect, and I'm not picking one over the other. But if there's going to be a knock on David Clarke, it's that there are so many people on really conservative Twitter who love him. And so the establishment media types on TV nationally at the Journal Sentinel. They are going to use that as the club. Against him. Republicans are going to have an issue with every candidate that that is true, but this is why we're talking about this to try and figure out who has the least amount of baggage and who is strong enough to overcome their baggage to beat Tony Evers. "Who are we? Are we, the Republicans? School, dismissed the wig party back in 18 54 in a little white schoolhouse and rip in Wisconsin because they didn't work hard enough. They didn't fight slavery's expansion into the Western territories hard enough. They weren't the fighters that these Republicans wanted in office, and so the party was founded on a movement for equality and for constitutional leadership. I think that's what a lot of these folks who who felt on the herd found in President Trump someone who was willing to fight and I think that's what we need in Wisconsin. We need to return to our constitutional values, and we need to return to our moral compass and we need the fight and there's been a disappointment. I enemy felt this in your column. There's been a disappointment in the system and I got it. The problem with walking away right now. Is that we won't have a fight left. We will instead watch this country. This state devolved into something that is only recognizable and I wish youse to let that happen. And so I'm going to continue to fight. I know you will continue to fight. And I would ask all your listeners to continue to fight for what is morally right. What is constitutionally correct and what those people in that little white schoolhouse wanted. All those years ago because that's aspirational. And that's what I believe conservatives truly what what Republicans truly need to get back to Rebecca Kleefisch, former lieutenant governor. She's not just randomly talking about that schoolhouse in Ripon. "To discuss what could be coming for medicine in 2021. Let's take a listen that interview, then chat with Mike about what was said the question We've been getting the most is well, Lawmakers be working Maurin 2021 than they did in 2020. Well, okay. In defense of the Legislature, and maybe they don't need defending this early, but they wasn't that they weren't working. They had committee hearings and their officers were open. They didn't meet together on the floor except in April. After April. They did, but in an election year that would that would be pretty normal, But because of the crises that we were all facing this year, there were demands by many that they come together and doom or than they did you know a lot of the power in distributing money from the first current virus relief package from Congress. Gave the power to the states and in this case the governor to distribute the money so the Legislature didn't have much to do with the distribution of that money. Although some legislators, you know, certainly wanted to have more oversight. Don't say to sorting out this coffin 19 relief funding issue, which I know is a big one. What else is going to be on the legislative agenda for 2021 1st off? There's going to be some kind of coded 19 package coming from the Legislature. I think the pressure's on to do that, and like I said they've been in talks with Beavers about what that would be. But the Senate in the assembly, you know, even though they're both Republican control, don't agree. Right now. The governor will likely introduce his budget and mid February and that's gonna be some things that he proposed last time, which which Republicans did not go along with You like the Medicaid expansion. The governor has said he's going to propose that again. But that doesn't mean the wrong areas where they can agree. You know the last budget, the governor of Signed the major pieces of that budget that came back to him from the Republican Legislature. And so there is a given take. And maybe with new Senate leadership and, you know, Um, um, you know, maybe there will be, um You know, more cooperation this year about you know what will happen. And the state's finances are not as bad as had been feared. You know, I wouldn't call them great and that, like the state is awash in money, but it znachko better, and there is actually projections that the revenues will grow in the next two years. With politics dot coms. Jeff Mayor's joining US here in Wisconsin's afternoon news, Gentlemen ask you to speculate just a little bit. We will be entering your number three of governor Tony Evers time as governor of the state of Wisconsin. Do you think 2021 is going to be the year where we start to hear rumblings of some challengers? Well, if you're running for statewide office you get going now. I mean, this is when you start to get things together, if not before, So, you know, I think it's pretty clear that Rebecca Kleefisch, the former lieutenant governor under Scott Walker is organizing to run for governor in 2022. I think Republicans recognize that she would be very difficult to beat in. Primary. And so I think that whether there will be a Republican primary. I don't know for sure. But you know, she is been the one who has been, I think most aggressively organizing for a challenge to Evers. Evers himself has not said whether he'll run, you know, declaring a You know that you're running for governor, though, makes everything you do Political. And so I think his stance and you're in interviews is well, I'm not going there yet. I've got all this work to do. We've got a budget to put together. Etcetera, etcetera, you know, at the right time will make the decision and make an announcement. And so I think that's pretty typical of a governor at this stage right now. He has some pretty good poll numbers. Certainly, um, it's been a very difficult situation, but he's got something to run on in a zoo. I said the state's finances are not that bad and the issues he talks about Paul. Well, like, you know, Medicaid expansion and things like that. Let's bring in Mike Spaulding now. And like the first thing I wanted to ask you here. What did you make? Those comments. Do you think we're going to see any sort of Corbett 19 relief bill passed in the state of Wisconsin this year, So Yeah, no, that's really interesting, because we This is kind of a two part situation. One you had the package that was passed back in April. And, really, that was the only significant relief package that was passed it all you have the governor going back and forth the Legislature over Things like mask mandates and capacity rules and all those types of things, But as far as funding goes, they passed this one big bill and through the rest of the year, A lot of work was done behind the scenes in terms of where will now all of this money go. And you know that you saw it get dispersed. I think about a week and a half ago. $15 million went to independent entertainment venues. You have schools getting some funding. You had some Individual municipalities like the city of Milwaukee or Greenfield, or what have you also get some money, so it will be interesting in 2021. If they will get a new package at all, Because there is still some money left over from this first one, and then two along those same lines, where where will it then go. And what will that process look like? Because we know it. Is always complicated when you're talking about things in Madison because of the way that the government is kind of split, So it's gonna take some coming together in 2021 2, I think improve upon some of the processes that they made in 2020. But everyone from all sides and there have been meetings going on this past month or so, since really the November election. To get more on the same page with what's gonna be happening here in Wisconsin again. One of the big things involved with all of that is the budget. And that's obviously another big thing that we're working on right now, as well. We heard from Jeff Mayor is saying in that interview. They're one of the things that I thought was really interesting. Mike was that you know, we're not as bad off as a state as we thought. We were at the beginning of this pandemic. All you've heard his state and local governments being decimated, and that may be true to a certain point, but What Jeff Mayor's was saying was that Wisconsin not as bad off as you might have thought, and that might, you know, keep the foot off the gas a little bit..
