"The steelers pregame show. We are loving it. It's browns week. It's not normally browns week, but this is a rivalry now Kevin this is back to it's not the ravens because as you mentioned before, there's respect factor when you're playing the Baltimore Ravens but the Cleveland Browns have definitely announced themselves as a rival to the Pittsburgh steelers they're not just the They're just not the the little brother nipping at the heels anymore. They're dangerous team. How dangerous are the Cleveland browns especially on offense with that number one rushing attack where does Baker Mayfield? Where does Baker go ahead and fit in? Well yet. Answer I question man they're averaging almost thirty eight points a game of LS four weeks so that is sort of the definition dangerous to me in. Pittsburgh hasn't faced an offense like them all year long so that that'll be a significant challenge for the steelers defense. You know Mayfield's his numbers. His role numbers are not overwhelming. You know he's got he's got less than a thousand yards passing through five games. So He's averaging under two hundred yards a game. He's got nine nine touchdowns against four interceptions, which is good. Know it's good. Not Great. He's not wowing you with those numbers but he's not making killer stakes. He's not really forcing the ball into coverage as much as he did in the past and like I said earlier. fancies doing a nice job, get them out of the pocket. He's only six one and he doesn't really have you know like the the pocket IQ that drew brees who's another you know sort of shorter quarterback does so I think you struggle sometimes we just see in the field when he's in the pocket. So fast he's got him out you know on a lot of boots and rollouts naked and and he makes really good things happen. You know when when when he's out there so he's he to me he's he's a smarter quarterback than he was his first Couple years in the NFL. So it'd be big for the steelers would be you'll keep in the pocket man and we can. We can find him to try to throw from an area of weakness or at least not an area of strength. You mentioned that their offensive line is better. They do have some players the game on the offensive line of leave tellers, one of them Am. Chris Hubbard. Our old friend is going to be playing at guard for the very first time in his career. Kansas? steelers exploit that. Yeah I mean you know I don't. The steelers are pretty darn good at at knowing when to let dudes go and. You know. Very few guys have have left Pittsburgh and gotten better wherever they they went. You know I mean obviously the levy on bell news is he's in the news these days and he's kind of case in point and. I Don I is Chris Hubbard. Starting, quality player Chris Hubbard good enough to be able to. To Block some of the guys on the steelers front I I have my doubts about that. So I'll be very interesting to see. Palestinian. Scheme that are you know one of the big things that coaches tried to do when they're scheming is is look for the weak link on an opponent figure out ways to exploit that. So will it be with stunts? You know I mean in the steelers GonNa run blitz at Hubbard or they gonNA are they going to try to explain it in pass protection but I do think he'll be target You mentioned stopping the run is paramount for dealers defense, and of course, with out nick? Chubb there. It gets a little bit easier. But Kareem Hunt is pretty amazing and himself, and in fact, I would probably say the Kareem Hunt is the best a backup running back in the game. If you're talking about best running backs in the game, I, would probably put him probably in the top twenty as well, and he's just as dangerous and you know he is a backup. So he's in there I. Don't think they lose a step but if you look back over the last few weeks, in fact, the entire season, the running backs that this team stopped include Saquon Barkley. Melvin Gordon, David Johnson and for the most part Mile Sanders with I mean if you take away that seventy four yard run and you can't take it away but the rest of the game, he only had twenty yards outside of that huge run. They pretty much have been stopping the run and that's why they're the number one rush defense in the league. What scares me about Kareem. Hunt. Kevin is the fact that a lot of those. Running back. So we've talked about earlier. They fared a lot better against the steelers when they were catching the ball out of the backfield. Ream hunt does that better than almost anybody? How much of a concern is that to the steelers game and is that something that could break the steelers? Yeah, that's a that's a worry for sure and It's not just hunt. You know they've got. now, thematic tight end in Austin Hooper and they got Obviously, a receiving core that you know has some elite names. To it. So there's they got a they can beat you in a bunch of different ways And the they're the most well rounded. Offense the steelers have seen so far, and if the steelers play a lot of three four, then you know you're you're putting another defensive lineman on the field and you're taking a more athletic guy off. So if the steelers are in three four, we're going to see Cleveland try to exploit that by running. Spread, set some empty stuff motion hunt out of the backfield trying to get him out in space maybe matched up the steelers linebacker I think that'll be a real chess match. In terms of personnel battle and if the steelers go to five or you know or go to some kind of nickel or is Cleveland GonNa, try and go heavy because Duke Johnson's a pretty good back zone. Right? He's a he's a slammer between the tackles Kinda Guy. So I'll be very interested to see how Cleveland Attacks Pittsburgh's personnel, packages, and vice versa. Well, that's that is really interesting. That's something that we definitely really need to look out for. So you mentioned earlier on in the show kt the steelers and what they really need to do on defense to stop the browns. The steelers need to do on offense to go ahead and win this game. I mean, ideally, I'd love to see him control the football you know. techs clock and make first downs and keep Cleveland off the field. I don't think the steelers will alter their game plan just to try to believe the clock because you know they're most effective when they're they're taking what a defense is given them. But you know I think that they need to continue to mix it up mean Cleveland has been great on they've been opportunistic. Here's the best description for them. You know they've given. Up, one hundred sixty nine points which I think is like the sixth most in the League but they've been able to generate turnovers they've got more you know they've created more turnovers than anybody. So you know when they've needed a big plan defense, they've gotten it but they'd give up a lot of yards and a lot of points. So I think the steelers. Can play defense by playing playing good offense I think it's a good. It's a good way to run the football You know I think Garrett runs himself out of plays in the run game a lot. You know he's so aggressive getting up to feel that the I think you can take advantage of that. I think we can screen 'em you know so. And you know the steelers have so many weapons on offense. Now that whatever defenses scheming to take away, we seem to have an answer for it offensively or at least the find an answer as the game goes. So is opportunity for the steelers and score a lot of points I think they're going to have to I think it's GonNa. Be a high scoring game. As Chase Klay poll have multiple touchdown game or does juju takeover or somebody else? Yes. Yes. That's the thing. Right that's the Nice thing. Okay. So let's say Cleveland schemes to take away capable but say they rotate safety up let's see. Let's say they they try and jam a more on at the scrimmage which you know good luck with that because he's a beast but There's an there's another answer in you know like the fact that like Juju Antioch Pay Johnson had quite games last week you know and we're we're hardly noticeable at all steelers scored thirty points was really exciting because you know obviously, it hints at their at their diversity. So yeah, I don't know I don't know but I don't know how you know the browns will defend Klay Pool but you know they can't overcompensate anywhere because the steelers can exploit them elsewhere. So, this is something we talked about on the steeler preview on Thursday night and streaming. Now go ahead and check that.

"Most people seem it'd be buying it even though the team hasn't made plus two thousand and two so i'm going to ask you guys. Do you think the browns were actually made the playoffs this year. I'm going yes. I think they're going to be a wildcard. I got the steelers winning the division but i think the browns make the playoffs. Baker mayfield plays well how that they come up. Just short pittsburgh's going to be real this year. Let's admit that baltimore is going to be good. I mean you got the more jackson in the second year and feeling more comfortable displaying his full capabilities he he's gonna make it through the year without getting hit. Oh he's gonna get hit and he's gonna get a backup. You think he's okay you think they make it. Oh yeah i love the browns and the reason i loved the browns baker mayfield o._b. J jarvis landry. That's a three headed monster. Defensively is a nightmare got to put two on one of those guys and that leaves the other guy wither jarvis or o._b. J. one and so you ream hunt by making your no good in division. We gotta run the ball so that sounds ed la mouse gareth myles garrett and underarm game work with him all week i i love his motor. Speedway brings to the table. I like i like personnel wise what they bring to the table table but again if you're not systematically hild from what it is that you need to heal from you cannot use a talent bandmate put over the wound of what the systematic so what's the story from starting from the top of i do not think organizationally speaking that they're prepared to when i really got john dorsey the gut they got elliott. Wolff allows highsmith guys. I know personally by the way you met when green bay. I don't know if you look at their track doc record they were phenomenal man john dorsey with the cassidy paul serranto different guys until washington redskins and and put together guys like bruce smith and <hes> dion sanders mark carrier and and you had such you had the number one and number two overall pick in the draft and and they still get not make the playoffs i think reality is is that there's always a trickle down effect and regardless of your relationship with those guys personally and their track record lonzo those spell alonzo highsmith is a fine man and he did great things out of the university of miami but i do not give cleveland systematically stable enough to due to actually win with the time i think the energy of baker mayfield and i just like kinda how quiet o. B._j.'s been during this all yeah. That's it ah acquired o._b. Jamie success right. That's where we go with. This allowed obie. Jay became oh b._j. "What's he understands his situation? He is now working towards being a better man moving forward by no means from an organizational standpoint is this a guarantee of anything as we all know trust has to be earned in that has to be earned with the Cleveland Browns organization and the community of Cleveland moving forward. So this'll be a day to day thing in terms of earning trust mall, there you have it. That is John Dorsey the GM of the Cleveland Browns talking about cream Han who was signed a one year deal by the Browns earlier in the week. You know, Rodney when you hear organizations talk like that. All I wanna tell the guy like John Dorsey is if cream hunt wasn't a really good football player. He wouldn't be there. And all this stuff about burning trust because he plays football at a high level. Joy reason why is there? Right. It's all it. Is you feel offended by that? I'm not offended by it. It's just like these guys are trying to make excuses for bringing excuse. I take him as making an excuse. He drafted the guy. He knows his family background. He's been time with the guy. So he knows this guy just as well as anybody. And basically to me what he said is like look, nothing's guaranteed. He's got to have he's going to have to do all the right things. He's going to have to earn our trust as well as the community's trust. And who do you? I mean, there's not many general managers that I trust more than John Dorsey. I think he's a stand up guy. He's done a tremendous job in all his years of being associated with the National Football League. My my that's not my problem. My problem was with the kid, and I wanna know has truly learned his lesson. And that's that's the thing that I think at this point in time that he's been away from football enough to really learn and have the impact of of what he did in his concert in the consequences. That comes with that. That's a great question only Kareem hunt can answer that. And what's what's kind of interesting ironic is the incident that occurred occurred in Cleveland at the hotel that was in Cleveland, and you're the Cleveland Browns bringing him back to that city. So I don't I. In terms of football. It's a smart move, right? In terms of football. You just tremendous guy. You're paying them nothing. I mean, you could go out and pay John Bell fifteen million dollars a year or you get Kareem hunt for a fraction of that. And what's the drop off? Right. I mean, I understand that you for saying that because I'm a big girly beyond guy to me. Green hunt is right there in that conversation. Yeah. Now just think about it. These teams are teams that really feature there guys. Andy Reid doesn't really feature Kareem hunt. It's the passing game. It's all this trickery is Travis Kelsey tyreek hill, and then all of a sudden, okay? We're going to run the ball. And this kid is dynamic like this kid is really really truly special and you only panel like six hundred and some thousand dollars. So John Dorsey is a no nonsense guy. If Kareem hunt does not come in. And if you can't prove yourself with the Cleveland Browns, he might not never play football. Again. This might be his one opportunity. And here's the thing. Look, we don't know if he's even going to be allowed to play because he's on the Commissioner's exempt list, he cannot come off that until he has until the NFL's finished its investigation and potentially handed out some sort of penalty. And if they find something it could be a severe penalty, and maybe doesn't play for Cleveland. Look Cleveland's gotten a job. What a pretty good rookie year. You add Kareem hunt. It's a different element. And you're right. He's a stud in terms of pure football. It's a smart move. Cleveland look at the talent isn't as an opportunity for their head coach and their general manager to really sit down and use this as a teaching moment, and you can say, hey and have an open discussion to say, hey, we're signing cre- hunt. And really have an open discussion about domestic violence doing the right thing and situations and stuff like that. So I think they can actually use this to the benefit of the team and say, hey, we have zero tolerance for this. If you're out to be involved in any of this stuff, you're going to be off our team. Yeah. They could I wonder what the community reaction is going to be in Cleveland. It's a football town. They wanna way love their Browns. Right. As long as they win. And you get a talent like ream hunt who can catch who can run who's going to be motivated and he's running for six hundred thousand dollars. Okay Todd Gurley. Got what twelve or thirteen or something like that? Fifteen million. I think fifteen million comp- come on man cream hunts. Ohio native he played at Toledo as well. You know, he's back in the home state. There's a lot of things in favor of Kareem hunt here. I mean in terms of weathering the storm there certainly is a more comfortable spot for him to do. So for one Rodney and really for John Dorsey. It's it's low risk. Okay. You might get a little PR hit for it. But in the end of cream hunt is allowed to play and he plays at a high level people going to give him the benefit of the data, of course. And if he does screw up resile out to play you're not out much money. Anyway. So what's in terms of what's appropriate punishment for him Dan from the Commissioner? That's a great question. Games. Is that eight games is a six is a twelve what? It's gotta be minimum eight, and here's why the fact is in today's climate when it comes to any sort of domestic violence. Okay. And the NFL learned the hard way with the initial reaction to Ray rice, if you don't clamp down hard on it. It will you know, the league will take a hit for that. And I think you have to be strict, and you have to show you care because people do have is on the NFL when it comes to this. Rodney Scott to be minimum eight games. I agree with you. I think that's minimum. And that's being nice so minimum eight games. I agree. Now the rest of the league looks at this. You know, what they're saying? Thank you Cleveland. And here's why. Because if Kareem hunt comes back and even plays eight games or four games doesn't even play. But he stays on the roster practices. Whatever it is. Is is a gentleman is is a great citizen. It's now open the door for other teams to then go after cream hunting a year. See what I'm saying Rodney kind of they're the ones that have taken the risk with Kareem hunt. And then it could open it up for the rest leak to feel more comfortable bringing in bringing him in in a year, or so because of the fact you're now, what organization removed excellent point excellent point excellent point. But if you're Kareem hunt, you sit back in those dark times when you're crying your by. Yourself and you're wondering if you ever will get an opportunity to plan a National Football League. And then you think back if you go out there you ball out. You say, you know, what all these teams had an opportunity to come get me. And none of them got me. None of them. Believe me. None of them gave me an opportunity. I'm gonna stick with the Cleveland Browns even in free agency. Even if it cost me a couple of million dollars per year because this is the team that stood by me. They believed in me when no one else did. And that's the type of loyalty that I would have if I was in Kareem hunt situation. And I know we're talking about hop hypotheticals. But that's the way it is. But some play a lot of players think like that because they are people, and they have feelings and emotions and things like that. And the concerns, but I think you're right. Eight gains minimal for him Smith. Yeah. Games mineral, it'll be interesting to see what the NFL does especially again in this climate where they did the wrong thing originally with Ray rice and took a big hit for it. So it is going to be in Tennessee. What ends up happening, but Kareem hunt is a member of the Cleveland Browns. Again, we don't know if he's allowed to play the weapons they're amassing in Cleveland right now, Ron Baker may. I feel that's not a laughing team anymore. It's not the laughing stock. It's a team that will be vying for a legit playoff spot come next year with all these how they have put up around that. All right. The af has begun. Are they handling it? Right. And I want to bring up an MBA point. With you. Rodney that's next to the safety. Rodney Harrison Dan Schwartzman on NBC sports radio. New Bedford's news talk station. "And obviously, you never really know if he thought he had the bills for it. Right. Five nine maybe I'm not a pro quarterback. So let me go play baseball because I'm really good at that as well. But he is looked at as one of these elite athletes playing quarterback position not just an athletic quarterback. He's arm is a rifle. He's obviously got a great art play the outfield in baseball as well. So I just think when you look at the landscape of the NFL. Yeah. Absolutely. I can play here. Maybe he needed that Heisman Trophy season to sort of give himself that confidence. But now, it looks like he would have been all in if he'd known that he was capable of playing in the NFL the whole time it dinner you all in with him being the first quarterback taken. That's a tough question. I don't think that I am. But the thing is this you talk to scouts down and mobile senior bowl. They say that his potential in football. He's already closer to the limit of that now that he was for baseball. So for a competition standpoint, I think that's where it gets tough. You're like, yeah. He's. Good. But how much better is he actually going to get Branko Sola? I look at twain Haskins out of Ohio State. So he doesn't have baseball as an option. I would tend to take him. I when you look at that arm and look at the size, and is he mentioned Murray size. I think the NFL has changed a little bit. But there's still a lot of teams a lot of executives and coaches that don't want that quarterback that sixty and under. They think those guys are too small not saying it can't work. But I still think there are more teams that prefer the six to and taller. And what are you seem to think he was going to be the first quarterback taken by Miami or Denver or New York, but you can expound. Well, I think that he will go into top fifteen because that's where those teams are located. But I know I agree with Frank on that I think though, he'll be somebody that wants to reach up and grab him. Maybe somebody we're not talking about because the opportunity upside to be a great great quarterback in the league and the others. Don't. I would lean toward Haskins. They're basically just because of the size. He's a very smart quarterback doesn't really run that much. You can sort of trust him in the market. But in terms of Kyle he's got so many positive attributes you'd probably you can harp on the negative. If you want which is obviously his size. But he's got a lot of great things going for him. So if he's the second quarterback taken don't see a problem with that. We'll move on patriots. You'll take him Cleveland Browns making the other news day in the NFL sunning ream hunt. "News for fantasy owners of James Connor. Word was that he had a contusion. But in fact, he has a sprained ankle, and he is already been ruled out for this week per Mike Tomlin. So I know James CONNER has been a blessing for a lot of people who didn't know what the hell to do without lady on bell. But James Connor will be out this weekend. Go get Steelers will get you some Jalen Samuels as quickly as possible. I think maybe Stephen ridley's in the mix too. Like, you could be one of those guys. But Jalen Samuels is the guy. Here's the thing. The Steelers run the football. Well. If you're if you're in fantasy, and I know now, you're hitting playoff window Kevin because the playoffs of officially started for most famous teams. Jalen Samuels will be the guy. They just it doesn't really matter who Connor has been great. You know, he's he's also a very physically well built back for what they do because that's a strong guy. But Jalen Samuels will do just fine in that offense with the with the Steelers. I don't know if people will need to reach out because of this as well. But also with an ankle injury. Matt Brita the forty Niners is out this week. So the prepared for that fantasy owners have like they've been so weird as who they throw in running back out there. It's ridiculous. So the waiver wire for a different direction. Dante Pettis the wide receiver. He'll probably be okay. Be effective for you. Hey, speaking of the waiver wire nobody picks up Kareem hunt on the waiver wire not terribly surprising. What is kinda surprising is this? So he's the payroll being investigated for three different incidents. Not just that one. We saw in February where he pushes a woman, and then kicks her when she's on the ground apparently a month before that just hours after the chiefs playoff loss to the titans. He was in an incident at a bar, and then apparently again this summer there was another incident. So that's at least three let me ask you this not will he be picked up. Do you believe ream hunt will be eligible to play NFL football in two thousand nineteen not at the beginning of two thousand all season. No, man, he his suspension right now. He's on the exempt list. Right. He will be suspended next year. They'll they'll say some sort of retroactive number of games and whatnot. And maybe they'll apply some of those two this year. But you know, because you can do that with the exemplified as well. I didn't do that with Greg hardy. Kenneth those games are already served. So I just don't think based on what they're trying to do. And accomplish. I don't think he will that being said, I mean, the NFL did a terrible job pursuing this in an investigation. No kidding. I mean an atrocious job following through on this. So. Like, they don't look good in this either. So like he has as much don't say you guys were y'all. Didn't do anything. You're trying to cover it up. You told my team to stop pursuing video of it and happened. And now you're gonna suspend me on. So I think there's a there's a chance that he played at some point next year. But I I don't I really my percentage would say now so we talked about some injuries and some wheelings and dealings with the running back. So now, let's move over to the wide receivers the bills today cut Kelvin Benjamin and Andrei homes for Benjamin this was a year after they gave up a third and a seven to pick him up hasn't worked out. They let him go. And then AJ green is out for the rest of the year torn ligament. Yeah. Yes. Tough for me. Because he was I invested very heavily in my fantasy league there with that. But that being said. Any Dalton's out for that team? That's true. AJ green wasn't bringing that team back by himself now with Jeff Driscoll as their as their quarterback. So like him trying to come back was already a tough thing. But then him trying to come back with that quarterback was not going to be a helpful situation for him either. So. That's tough because I like AJ green. What do we do we discussed the beginning of the year? He was saying if I keep up this pace, I should be a hall of Famer and knock as pace down. Does. It does does he drift off back into the into the fold? I don't know. I think he's a very great wide receiver. Absolutely. Hey, speak in a great. We talked about the XFL earlier on the show. The af is already making a difference as I'm sure you remember when we went down pick by pick through the af quarterback draft the number one pick in the draft.

"You know, what happens whenever we have portions going? You know, it'll be a lot of fun, and it's also help out Jared Sandler's sandlot children's charity and Special Olympics of Texas. It's going to be a lot of fun. We're going to be out there at the colony come on out there if you can make this bid, I would love to see it. But Kevin says, you don't have the junk to be able to do this. You don't have the Kahane's bid come talk smack directly to his face collect some money dig into your couch and make a good bid right now. Seventy eight eight one one zero five three you're going to talk to Parker before you get to chance to do that too. So there we go. All right, guys. Let's go around the entire. NFL and dip into gridiron gravy. We start with. Well, obviously where we start in case you've missed the four. How would a fast moving story was today as it started with TMZ saying that there's a video of Kareem hunt attacking and kicking woman while she was on the ground, and then that video came out and then ream hunt got put on the Commissioner's list, and he was essentially suspended, and then he was released by the Kansas City Chiefs. This is somebody who in less than two full seasons as twenty five touchdowns. I we were talking about this off air, you might be toxic. Now, he might be toxic this year. I just I don't know. I hope he doesn't get to play football anymore because I don't think he deserves to but part of me thinks. That's not going to be the case. And once the suspensions out once the suspension is over then he'll be playing football again. But for the time being Kareem hunt has been mooted, and he is unemployed or anything he can do. Is there anything that? He like apologizing. You can is can he can he do work, and he can you help out in order to not just play the game that he loves. But is there anything that? I think is going to be. Dima by society, as he's making progress, not some people in society. You know, and like I get how I kind of fall into that category at times. But you know, somebody who I thought was a good example was Michael Vick. Now, Michael Vick did some horrible things. But Michael Vick. I think really has redeemed himself in my eyes. But I also know that there are some people who don't think he will ever have done enough to redeem himself. I am not one of those people. I think that he has done enough to redeem himself, and he has done amazing work with not only money and time, but spreading the awareness about so many different animal shelters and animal charities. So I do think that if you just look at his path, you can be a redeemed human, but only for some people there will be some people where this is the end of the line, and I get that. And they will never want to cheer for a team that he's a part of never support products that he's involved with her anything like that. I don't I also don't think especially are we talking about right now. Or anything because there's no there's nothing that. He can do. He can't you can't make it statement. Because it'll be you know, it's nothing there's nothing he can do right now later on down the line. Maybe not. Okay. I'm just trying to figure out. What kind of policies work with society in right now with the state of things. I mean was it as soon as Reuben foster was brought on by Washington, Washington. One of the higher ups for the Minnesota Vikings who the woman. Tweet it out. I just made a donation to a battered women's shelter. As a like, hey, this stupid thing that just happened where this guy gets his chance. I'm I'm doing my side things so women in that world recognize it and have a lot of say in power, and they're they're trying to gain more of it. They need that help isn't it? Isn't it? Interesting not to diverge back into this topic too terribly much. But it's a huge story of the day. Isn't it interesting that a woman would need to step out and speak on that shouldn't like all humans need to step out and speak out about that? Like, I don't think it should just be a woman who needs to speak when a woman was getting kicked while she was on the ground. That's just like a human thing where everyone associated with the with the Redskins was like, hey, this is what I did because you should feel bad because your franchise picked up a discernibly crappy person. Absolutely. All right. Lots of other things happening in the world of the NFL. NFL let's run through some of the potential actives inactive the saints are shook by the way, I just wanted to throw that out there because they lost the Cowboys ten game winning streak OB are over liberation for the forty Niners mission accomplished in peer sawn and marquees Goodwin. Will both be out this weekend. Also out this weekend. This Sean Jackson probably out this weekend. Joe flacco he's listed as doubtful. But John Harbaugh said he is quote, still an option. So I don't think he's gonna billing option. Yeah. Because he's doubtful doubtful. So they're trying to be like, hey, don't totally prep for Lamar Jackson. Maybe we'll do this. Okay. At this point. Aren't you looking at Lamar Jackson saying, we kind of like you, buddy? Let's go ahead and keep doing this. Or maybe you're right. They're just trying to throw people off just enough to where he has. They're not watching enough Lamar Jackson tape, and he has the opportunity to have a couple of breakaway things that happen. So maybe I understand it's it's a little sportsmanship. Now, the Rams are potentially getting stronger on defense. They have activated keep to leave from their injured reserve. So there's some updates and some of the players, and as we've told you I think last Sunday AJ green is going to play in case. You hadn't heard that. Let's loop back around though too well to the Redskins. So we talked about apologies when it comes to Kareem hunt. This is definitely not what you want to say in a situation. Like this. The VP of player personnel for Doug will have for the Redskins is Doug Williams. Former Super Bowl winning quarterback. He was on a radio show. And he said that foster situation was quote, small potatoes compared to a lot of things out there. Well, as you can guess a lot of people did not like him comparing domestic violence, the small potatoes compared to other things that are out there. Yeah. What do you think was his Goto defense mechanism in his apology is like Josh Hamilton's was God everyone's got something. What do you think was his go to defense mechanism? We're going to get beat up in the PR world or something like that. Now. Okay. Quote, first of all, I want to apologize to the organization. My wife my sisters and the six daughters. I have oh so his Goto defense mechanism is essentially, I have a black friend for people who are accused of being racist. Right. Isn't that? What people I have in my life to exactly and so his is all I have a wife sisters and six daughters as if that the fact that there are women in your life. Make you think it's less acceptable. Right. I still just go back to the fact that this should just be a human condition. Like, I don't have a daughter, and I can see things about domestic violence would be like. Wow. That's terrible. Has I like, but that's so that's Doug Williams defense mechanism and he said the last night or so it's been really tough on me from. An emotional standpoint. Because never in my life. If I said anything so insensitive as I said, I'm not gonna sit here and make excuses except for at the beginning. Because there are no excuses. I'll let you figure out which part added. So yes, Doug Williams has been on the defensive since he said that probably not what you wanted to do now crazy because he was an offensive player and he saying offensive things and he got asked the dumbest question in the history of the Super Bowl, right? How long have you been a black quarterback? What? Yeah. That was a real question that he got ask. I dunno fool ever since I've been playing football. He dummy. Guys got big news. Big news. The raiders are still alive for the play offs. Even at two and nine they just need a few games to go their way. Specifically thirty four games to go their way, they don't have. They don't have a thirty four games. Ha ha Corey they only need to win their five games in a row easy enough. They'll be seven nine then they need twenty nine different games over the span of the next five weeks including week fifteen the Cowboys beating the colts and some nerd out there who I appreciate by the way, put it together that if all of these things were to happen. The raiders at seven and nine could make the playoffs. I would love it. Absolutely love it. Be awesome. I and I do want to point out. If the raiders made the playoffs that would really kill some of their. Nerf number one overall picks her first overall picks situation right because right now, you're looking at it and the bears. Where's the bears pick gonna be? Probably like in the twenties. Cowboys pick would currently be twenty three. So if they need to lose games if they want their first round picks to matter. So so they need to lose some games. There are a couple of tough ones on here. For example. They need the giants to be the titans. I don't know if that's particularly gonna work out for them. They need the giants to beat the colts. But then here the games that they need to win in aid to beat the Broncos. Okay. They need to beat the Bengals. Okay. They need to beat the Steelers. And then they need to beat the chiefs twice. Good. Nice new, and they can do it. I appreciate that level optimism. Let's go to Tampa Bay who the Cowboys are gonna play in their home finale their home regular season finale that is your ready playoffs. So Tampa Bay they suck. And they're having tough times getting people to come out to their games. If you weren't sure about that. There is picture circulating around social media of their game against the forty Niners. Hey that was Tampa Bay's second win in the last two months keep in mind. Tampa Bay also beat the saints. So here's how it goes at the beginning of the Kevin, I know a whopping forty thousand fans showed up for that game. That's not good. That's the lowest depends on how you know, what the tickets would cost if you're well, they cost like four dollars. If you're at a chargers game. That was the lowest attended. NFL home games since two thousand and Ted outside of the chargers guys different stadium makeup and all that. So because of that they said the hell with it. And they're just.

"Connor Frayn's filling in today that the tray. Race is overrated as a radio producer by. From what I've heard it seems like he's a pathological liar. I mean, I don't know if that's the case, I guess, we'll have to see, but it could be if that's the case that he is highly over what do you think we should do though to correct this? I don't know. I got to discipline them. Somehow is there any way we're gonna fire him fire. I don't know who that is. That's not me. That's not me. That's somebody else. You very distinct voice. I think Frank Kalugin though, you maybe you had him in here. Maybe didn't impersonation who you. Well, you know, sometimes you just say some things that you regret, but I have rejected that and Ryan Hickey is a great guy. Best guy actually in the world. So you think the pope what right above? Like, okay. Yeah. Let's give back by the way. Thank you to everybody. But Connor on the. Amazing job. Thank you to Connor. Connor underscore green fifty-one on Twitter Stewart's on their to store Kovacs CBS. And Antonio who's learning the board doing a great job. Great to FM. I had several Greg guests on the program. Earlier today marker big fan of Mark's. Really good, dude. Very very aggressive in a good way local reporter covering the warriors day in day out for the San Jose Mercury news. He knows his stuff, and he told us he's going to go to all eighty two games this year, which by the way, when I covered the NBA inside out for a few years. I never made all eighty two. I think I made seventy seven one year, it's hard. It's just really hard to do Medina who was on the program earlier as I was talking about talked about whether there's cause for concern up-close is reporting perspective that this Katie dream on thing could be really problematic because the fact the warriors decided to publicly punish and therefore, incidentally, otherwise blame dream Ongeri. There's definitely a danger else. Did they do this to try to make an example out of drain off? Maybe kind of set him up to be the fall guy. Seven Durant winds up to signing to leave. I think ideally, the sense that I got the warriors were trying to kind of cut through the middle and have it both ways of sending a signal to Kevin that they're supporting them. You know, they'll say public way the free stuff has nothing to do with it. I don't buy that. But also that they're hoping that because it's a one game saying that Raymonde doesn't think that it's anything more than that. Like, they gave you know multi game punishment or a week like that is obviously going over to the extreme of okay, they're really making sample here. And the interesting component is Bob buyers. The worst sham and the warriors church Steve Kerr, they were the primary decision makers with us. But you know, as I've been poking around. Around. It seems pretty obvious that there results so player perspectives on this whole situation where they talk to dis. I talked to Steph curry they talked to people in the huddle and all that. So as much as they made the decision if I'm connecting the dots here. Say there is a scenario where players like, hey, this really wasn't a big deal. Maybe they would have done. Nothing would have just chalked it up to. Hey, it's to competitor frame on Katie of got into a before. And it's not a big deal. But I think that some player input definitely influenced. There is no way that the same situation goes down and Steph curry is healthy on the floor and a presence throughout this entire process. He is so important to what they do. And I think I think it's very interesting. I think it's very relevant Curry's gonna miss ten more games the on the floor so worrisome. And so is the fact that he can be the bomb. Sometimes it can be the antidote to some of what we're seeing pop up between. Kevin durant? Draymond green. You heard from Regina there. It is affecting other guys in that team. And they're taking sides. It's what happens it's human nature. Thank you to Mark. Does a great job Mark G as in gamer Mark g underscore Medina on Twitter. We'll Brinson my colleague from CBS also on the show will senior NFL writer, the host. Pick six podcast daily NFL podcast. It's really it's excellent. Anna guy that we have here on the show a lot a friend of the show walked us through. It was really interesting what can happen with bell. And the Steelers tagging him again. So there's two things this will happen on. February six Keith is the deadline to the opening day for teams to franchise or transition tax. So one path is the franchise tag, and that would be twenty five million dollars. And I it sounds like the Steelers are what you hear. They're not going to argue against it. They'll just give them the third year to franchise tag. If they transition pack him, this is where it could get ugly because. Would argue that bell didn't play in two thousand eighteen it didn't have a salary, and therefore he should just get the standard running back transition tag, which would be like ten billion dollars. So that would be real weird. Later on in the NFL PA will probably argue that he should get a hundred twenty percent bomb off of his last salary, which would be the same as his franchise tag was this year fourteen five so it's possible that you could just have the transition tag it fourteen five or even ten million and at that point. Jewish tradition. Tagging? Other teams can make him offers. You can sign those offers and then the Steelers have X number of days to match at which point. Oh, really either. Have it? You'll have a deal with somebody. But presumably he would get a an offer sheet. If he's attrition cat guy. Ten million? I mean, he will get an offer sheet. So it would be kind of a moot point. But it would also be ugly. I disagree with will on this. I mean, wills very connected and stuff, and I think the I think the perspectives really interesting will is optimistic Ingo here it here as as he discusses Brinson discussed how much he believes lady on bell has left in the tank. I good I think it'd be good to great for four or five more years. I mean, he he takes touches. But a lot of his touches are through the passing game. Like he piles up receiving yardage jails. Here's point out of the podcast. He thinks the Steelers we're gonna bring lady I'm in and Jews him immediately as a wide receiver. Lever? More than a running back to try and get get his legs underneath him. He would supplant Ryan switcher, James Washington. And then let James Caan awry. And then you sort of ease ease does that transition sharing carries the Qatar in this hypothetical scenario, but yeah, he doesn't take a huge beating. He does have some injury history. Of course, that's off field issues. But I I if I were if I were the team owner was like, you're signing bell. No matter what I would be cage getting him to four years knowing that I got an ended up thirty one range because I think you'll still be good than just the type of player. He's and we'll also gave us his perspective on what to make the NFL having to take the chiefs Rams games game out of Mexico City wanted this to happen. They want to gave me that is. So that's right now. They don't want that they wanted to they they're not happy about it. I mean they wanted to to the the two top like most exciting offenses in the league with two two two top young quarterback, Patrick Mahomes. Jared goff. You skill position. Guys, all over the place. Tyreek hill Brandin cooks Robert Wood ream hunt Todd Gurley. I mean Travis Kelsey just loaded group of skill position. Guys teams don't really play any defense over under sixty three and a half one of the highest distort over unders in NFL history. And they get to play it, you know, in prime time in an international setting where they can tell you built the the NFL the NFL they see these metrics visual properties. And they're they're pretty stunned by the number of international people that are coming to the site. And checking out the NFL they really wanted us to happen. Ultimately, it was one of those things where I think the players came to them and the unit. Yeah, they knew the union. We'll get involved. They need the players didn't feel safe on the surface. If you have if Todd Gurley blows out his ACL cutting on this crummy field, you have a nightmare on your hands. And maybe a lawsuit on your hands. And so they just made the decision to pull the plug just kind of a shame. I wanted to see it at altitude in these guys laser beams out there firing at the players, but ultimately it will be it will still be a good game. But the NFL is not pleased at all. This is a this is an uninformative mishap that somebody is getting yelled at very aggressively or perhaps even fire. Thank you too. Will Brinson Andrew Will's wife who shouted out Shakira on the program an hour ago. That is true. What that's what happened. If you missed that or any part of the.

"Drc but look at recent memory we can go and get a running back i just this past year right ream hunt and alvin chimera lord neither one of them were first round picks and look at the impact they had so while you believe that he's a generational talent and a singularly unique talent in this draft is it still worth it taking him at that position because of the position he plays oh for running back i what malaise set about first round running backs you could maybe a agree with if they were just running back their position is completely different and ban it's not like it's brand new marshall faulk caught the ball a veteran all the time it was his twoway type or two way type of player and you act in my opinion you have to be that out the days of adrian peterson a really over where you're just going to be a running back now let her four net was a lot of that last year but he's a guy i think they need to start throwing the baltimore like they do with todd girlie with the rams they start a thrown him the ball more that's what you need out of these backs was you want to split this back out kazak can give away coverage choose covering him you know you could figure out man and zone you could use them in that way they can spread out wide like a wide receiver that can be in the slot they can motion out i think they are too valuable now twoway when they can catch to wear that don't take born in the first round is thrown out yet backs titans and slot receivers of sort of your chest pieces to kinda try and get the defense to tip their hand and missile you still need productive wide receivers and you still need a dominant quarterback but if you want to see the offense of coordinators that have really rain hell in the league for the last few years they've done it with big steel they've done it with.
