"Get to the airport early and you find out that flight has been delayed. It happened more frequently at Reagan national last summer, so this summer, there's a plan to reduce all that painful waiting. Reagan is a level three airport, meaning it has constrained capacity due to available infrastructure. That combined with a shortage of air traffic controllers, and other issues met many frustrating delays last summer peak travel time. This summer between mid May and mid September, the FAA is easing regulations concerning the number of slots at airports. Slots give an airline the right for an aircraft to take off and land at a specific airport at a designated time. This also applies to New York City area airports, airlines are applauding the move last summer many airlines reduce the number of flights that they offered to avoid big delays. Kyle Cooper, WTO news. Meantime, BWI Marshall has some plans to fix an aging runway. The Maryland congressional delegation says the airport's getting $15 million for infrastructure upgrades, including that runway improvement. Lawmakers say BWI Marshall is a vital economic and transportation hub for the state. And that means the infrastructure there has to be solid, the funding for all of it comes from the FAA's infrastructure grant program. Blue and yellow line stations south of Reagan national airport are closed until October 23rd, as metro embarks on two separate projects affecting rail in and out of Virginia. The first phase is going to allow us to do a cut in for the Potomac yard news station. That's metro general manager Randy Clark, which is exploding in growth and becoming a regional hub. But even after that work wraps up, trains that normally run from Pentagon to lafon Plaza will be getting rerouted through roslin until next summer. While work begins to repair the bridge and tunnel that serves that yellow line route, water seepage, leads to corrosion, that could lead to unfortunate things. Here's Aaron Gates, chair of the mergers and acquisitions practice at showman Rogers, a faux service law firm with clients in the DMV and around the country, discussing how his team helps clients navigate their M and a transactions as the economy ebbs and flows. Even in the past few years, with all the unpredictability of COVID and turmoil in the economy, we've worked with clients to close many dozens of business sales and acquisitions worth hundreds of millions of dollars. In every market, there are great deals and as companies get larger, organic growth can become more difficult. So for companies with at least 5 or $10 million in revenue, acquisitions should be an important part of their overall strategy for growth. What about clients who are concerned about a potential recession? "WTO listening area, nothing heavy to talk about. We are sitting at 73 at Reagan national airport dulles just at 69. We have 78 and be BWI Marshall. It is 5 40, lawyers for American basketball star Brittany griner today filed an appeal of her conviction and 9 year prison sentence for smuggling drugs into Russia. Corinna was found guilty in at a trial last week after she was detained in February at a Moscow airport for carrying vape cartridges containing cannabis oil. Meantime, Russians, Russia's foreign ministry says it's ready for what it calls a professional conversation and concrete steps toward arranging a swap involving griner and U.S. Marine veteran Paul Whelan. Now to the war in Ukraine, please don't forget what's happening there. That is the plea from Ukrainians, and from leaders all around Europe. National security correspondent JJ green joins us live with more JJ Yes, Sean, every day when catching up on what's happened overnight, one thing sticks out each day. The number of civilians that have been targeted. Ukraine says 73% of the targets, the Russian military's attacked, have been civilians, tens of thousands have been killed. Many, if not most of them were likely killed by Russian troops, engaged in war crimes according to international authorities. But stories like this one from the Russian outlet eye stories make it impossible to forget. They went to a town called EmDrive. They talked to devastated residents and identified four Russian soldiers who residents say committed robberies, looting, murders of civilians. And they did it. They identified them by using photos the soldiers took on a stolen phone from a local residence. So they contacted the soldiers. These soldiers willingly confessed to all of the crimes every single one of them, reporting live. JJ green, WTO feed news. JJ, what's driving soldiers like this to take part in this kind of hateful carnage against innocent Ukrainians. Part of the reason Brennan is these Russian soldiers and the reason they gave for committing these war crimes and it's something we've heard before during this conflict which is almost 6 months old is that they were ordered to do it by their commanders. Another reason that many of the suspects give is that they did it of their own volition. It's not clear, absolutely clear about why they did that, but a couple of things we do know. A number of these Russian troops are from impoverished backgrounds. So they're from distant outposts. A lot of them stole a lot of Ukrainian property and tried to send it back home. And finally, some of them are just stone cold killers. By their own admissions. Like a female Russian commander who was killed last week. She said she enjoyed killing Ukrainians. Sad thing about that is that she herself was a Ukrainian. JJ, thanks. You're welcome. WTO national security correspondent JJ green. It'll bring us a light, which remix for the Morning rush tomorrow, and it's gonna be light. But it may be just enough for a glaze, especially if any liquid raindrops make it all the way to the surface where it's freezing. That could cause a little bit of ice. But at any rate, it's all gonna be outta here by lunchtime, and then this mostly cloudy and chilly the rest of the day high school. Into the mid forties, too, near 50. So any wintry impact we have in the morning we'll be gone in the afternoon was they acquired a partly sunny, increasing clouds late ahead of the next system has to be in the mid thirties and near 40, and it looks like we'll start getting some snow on Thursday morning, but there's also going to be a wintry mix involved with that, and it's gonna be pro long to could last into Friday s, so we'll be keeping an eye on that Thursday's highest begin low to mid thirties. 39 degrees and Stafford right now 36 in Gaithersburg, and it's officially 37 at Washington. "Flooding flooding unfolding unfolding across across parts parts of of the the Metro Metro area, area, Metro Prince George's County, Inter Montgomery County, the eastern side of the District of Columbia, Northwest Washington as well and parts of Arlington and that's where we will begin. George Washington Memorial Parkway is flooded and we understand impassable between four mile run in the south entrance to Ronald Reagan National Airport. That's a limited access by way, which means you're going to have trouble turning around. I think there's a wall on the median strip there, which means once you go north or south toward that area of high water, you might be stuck trapped between that rising water and the drivers behind you, And that's one of the many dangerous on a day like today, it's not as simple as just turning around. In some cases once you commit, sometimes you are stuck. You're put in a very dangerous situation. 3 95 South bound flooding before Glebe Road at most, only a single file.
