"Hello and welcome to the central podcast. My name is Daniel Baiter this week on the show we go over the iphone twelve and twelve pro review from somebody who has actually reviewed both of them. We talked to Raymond Wong of input magazine, and we will get to what he thinks about those phones and more in just a second later. In the show, we will go over the pixel five versus the Pixel for a five G. which one is right for you. That's a question we've been getting quite a lot of this week. We'll go into the new Amazon Echos which we reviewed this week as well. We'll go over the one plus eight. Which? Raymond has also reviewed, and finally we will go through some crazy photos that were released in two thousand twenty. We'll just round up all the cool weird stuff that was released in. Raymond's going to help us out on that. So Raymond Wong. Senior reviews editor for input. How are you welcome to the show? Thanks for having me, it's good to be here. And also joining us. Hey, out of Houston he's our own tech reviewer extraordinary. What's going on man? How are you? I'm doing all I'm going to put that. See Now, I'm looking at my wall, try to spell things in my mind doesn't really work out that well, most of the time that's why we rely grammar. "And Johnson the entire Mario Catalog and just put both companies out of business doing intake. Oh well, we know what? The reason is not here is not because he's editing video as he says, it's because he's playing Mario all stars right now. That is a that is not. Not. Any any surprise he's been talking about that since the announcement. All right. Let's let's end this discussion and talk quickly about what is making us happy this week as we end the show every week could makes makes me happy to talk about what everybody else finds happy or is making everybody else? Happy. So Alex, we will start with you. This week I've been going from very new gaming consoles the very old ones. I've been a on the winds will be installed a genesis slash Sega mega drive emulated on us my phone's this week. So I've been getting reacquainted with some games of the nineties can't be currently replaying sonic three and knuckles. So that's that's been a bit of a blast in a great game I. Loved That Game Has. The feel playing knuckles after all these years. It's it's a little bit. I actually I'm with emulator I'm using MD, dot com you. It the touch controls actually worked better than you would think it's It's pretty pretty responsive. modern android phone has no no trouble emulating council for two years ago. So it's a it's a pretty good experience. I wanted to get Raymond Wong from. The input here this week because not the put my thinking of doing the right thing. He. wrote a big piece about the emulation experience on the surface duo and how it was just amazing and there's just something really. Something really comforting about playing emulated games on a screen that looks like that where you can basically put the controls on the bottom and just play the game. Like a nintendo Ds, I haven't tried it yet, but it just looks fantastic and I want to hear the experience. But you should buy a Bluetooth Controller Alex Make It A. Get One of those genesis looking. Old Retro controllers that would take it to the next level. Yeah. Absolutely. All Right Joe, what's making you happy this week mine's kind of a two parter and I think the first half is stolen from Yatta looking at our old spreadsheet notes in here The first is cold weather because we're finally getting like sixty degree Fahrenheit tense during the day and thirty or forty at night, which makes me very very happy as someone that despises blistering heat that we've had in Michigan for the past couple months. in naturally with that a my wife Kennedy who was a Halloween Aficionado who likes making this time of year like spooky season as much as we can we've been watching a lot of horror movies and TV shows a she introduced me to trick or treat for the first time which I had never seen somehow in absolutely fell in love with it. And we've been going through haunting a hill house found the on Netflix which has made me overly. stressed and mortified as some parts I..

"This very episode. Speaking of risky bets quick. Follow up here and as always. I'm not piling on. The consensus seems to be developing that. Motorola's razor is a bit of a disaster. The reviews have all been basically bad. The early word on the seven flip conversely has been so good that may be the razors timing is also a disaster. And now we're starting to get whispers that the razors display is having the same screen issues that everyone was worried about. Raymond Wong at Input Magazine says his razor display is already beginning to peel around the fold. Check the link to the peace in the show notes to see the photos. Pretty not good quote sometime during my forty five minute train ride from Queens to Manhattan. That left at three zero eight. Pm Eastern time. The razors display peeled. Apart at the fold. I have no idea how it happened but I can promise you. It wasn't from impact. The phone was closed in my front jeans. Pocket the entire right and there's no visible damage anywhere on the device and no my jeans aren't super tight either. When I took out the foreign at around three forty five PM eastern time to snap a few selfie comparison photos I noticed the air gap. The screen was completely warped from hinge to hinge with the top layer raised like a poorly applied screen protector. I'm too scared to even fold up the phone now because the more I close it. The wider the spread gets. There's a long streak across the top of the bubble and at first glance you might mistake it for a scratch. It's not a scratch. There's no physical damage on the surface of the lamb nation. It's literally the pixels splitting from the two layers and quote again. We HEARD FOR YEARS. That people thought that foldable phones could only become thing when they got proper foldable glass not plastic or laminate but companies felt the need to rush to market and this increasingly looks like a super expensive.

"Well it's that time of year again the time of year when c e s rolls around. Ed We just get to go. Oh completely hog. Wild is all the good stuff despite never having been to see US myself. I do in missing doing nothing. You're missing nothing. You get all the best parts by not being in the stifling like Vegas which is just. It's just terrible and and It was something I've always dreamed of going to like as a kid and then when it actually happened I was like Oh my God Chris Year that you don't don't enjoy Las Vegas of all people that I know I would expect you to be one of the ones who would like Las Vegas. Well like it in theory but there's just so much and I would have to go to. There was a there was a number of years where I had to go to both CIS and in a be within within like a couple of months and both of them take place in the biggest conventional although American bull riding champion National Association of Broadcasters. Less Fun But CBS is bigger than just the convention center in the Venetian. It's like basically all over the Strip and even some off the strip things just you walk so much as just so massive blake. You think that it's going to be awesome. Their parts of it that are and they're just like they're things like I I went to A party wants Got Bottle Service with with the beats music. Is this als also. It was really fun about that. Is that the PR person like invited me and assuming I'm sure that I'd bring young people and all the young people I was at dinner with were like no so I like the old like and I don't really mean like okay. I mean but agewise wise in comparison like not saying they were super old but also established media people I brought like Forbes and Fortune and the Wall Street Journal and like USA Today like with me to this party and they they got down and it was actually amazing now before we start the show. You had a photo that you wanted to tell us about. Nah I was GonNa say I had a a a really fun airbnb experience. I don't know why Shahryar so I was in Tampa for nears for Wedding and got to experience I had the most Tampa the most Florida of AIRBNB. His is Is Basically the best that I can say. I'M GONNA put a link to Lindsay his tweet storm His like thread about are terrible experience but basically we knew that it was going to be. Maybe some kitschy based on the photo I I should say that it was a seven hundred dollar a night airbnb. That was supposed to sleep all of us and then we got there and if you guys remember that vice article from a few weeks ago the talked about how kind of this shady network of like really gross like airbnb You know where like you think that you're getting into one thing. The different we had a scenario like that where literally guys Eliah Properties in. This was actually in a bad part of town. It was not a good neighborhood. Hood the Security Code was one two three four five six nights that was thirty code The place was filthy and keep in mind. They're charging seven hundred dollars a night and a three hundred and fifty fifty dollars cleaning fee. Yeah there was like a you know trash everywhere. It literally been slapped together like they bought the house and then they you know just tossed them beds furniture that they bought at the goodwill or whatever like one of the beds was held together. I'm not even joking by like like a twist ties based like The it was gross. There is a lake in the backyard and they claimed. Oh we have a a pirate ship you can take out on. Thank you would never want you step foot on this thing. We think it was afloat of some sorts. We're not sure but it was made of Sira Foam PD C.. And you would not want you step on it. There was also like a gas can and something else like in the lawn. So yeah don't want to go near that it was There was exposed wiring. It was really bad and then it gets better. Because does we complain to airbnb about this place not being how it was described and whatnot. And they're like okay. We'll give you a partial refund. You know deal with the owners and the owners got pissed off about that and they like victims us and originally they were gonNA invictus on New Year's eve and keep in mind like we had to go to a wedding an hour away and we were like. Are they going to lock lock out like are they going to come in here and like rob Take arsov yet. Yeah so we took our valuables with us to the wedding They were. You're able to like let us say that night but then we had to be out like first thing in the morning and get a hotel it was. I mean in a really funny story but oh my God awed. What like you had the experience? Yeah you okay this is going to be my one question on this. Never GonNa go to see. Es As a scam profess scam lover. Who wants to be an adult and another life duly you? Are you tempted to open in your own AIRBNB scam. Yes very much Muslim knows their most. Incriminate yourself when I was just saying I just got to see exactly clean how easy it would be because there's no oversight. Yea I I firmly believe that if Lindsay if he had not badgered AIRBNB so much and if the rest of US didn't have such big twitter followings that we would not have gotten the results that we did which is ridiculous and really my ultimate thing would be never ever rent anything from From Ron and Pete and Tampa because they are in Lindsay's words gentrified landlords and you stay far away but enjoy the tweet stormed farm that out we've got linked in the In the show notes it feels so shady. Because you're showing me the pictures and I'm like it's Christina. Spain the night on pirate ship. That's that's awesome. That pirate ship. Looks like it's not safe to be on. That could be fun. And Oh wow that story. It was a good story Oh my favorite part before we get in. They promised to container pool. It turns out that was just the stolen image of website and mocked it. It didn't actually exist on the property. Well everyone who has. Photoshop can open their own AIRBNB. Scam completely speaking of state mine with my fifty foot dinosaur in my backyard or yes it's amazing. Please go all right. Let's get fun. CAS stuff So the way this is GonNa work. We're going to talk about two top stories and then we're going to run down some awards for the show that we are giving out today on rocket are claimed tech podcast that everyone desires to be awarded by First topic most important item of CS. Certainly the Sherman robot aw toilet and Roll God and VI he at Port a potty. Oh my God that is the toilet. Brianna Brianna. I think you're the one who brought this to our attention. So will you please give us a little rundown on this incredible product. I mean this is clearly the top story and I just L. U.. Like friend of the show. Joel Stern when she's like I'm not going to see yes this year. I'm like but who will conduct the hard hitting journalism we need for the Sharman VR toilet. We need this. I mean Raymond Raymond Wong would who who gave us. VR Porn Five years ago. If you remember a it's famously featured on this night show would be a good second choice. But you're right join US turn. This is why we miss her because she would do. The reporting democracy dies in darkness as yes so these are three separate concepts that Sharman brought out and before we start I have to say a The CS account actually did a lot of promotion of the Sharman VR toilet which I found very amusing because last last year they ended up? We're sending an award and kicking woman. CEO Out of CAS in one a One An award based on her sex sex tech Her sexual health product For ceus so I found that to be a real double standard the real double standard. So just We're not going to get to Italy into but there was like a vibrator was kicked out last year is back this year which is good but You know VR porn again. Raymond Wong on tonight show looking at VR porn at CS. No thanks okay Naked Women in body paint is okay by their imaginary. And you can poop with your but but you put anything in it things out of it but you do it the other way around okay. That's morally consistent. Okay yes I don't want but I do. I say okay okay. So here's the three products. Charms bringing out the first one is These are concepts design much like second story to bring attention to the brand and the first one was kind of a high end luxury of VR experience for concerts which for some reason has the OCULUS rift s psych. Mike Okay. If you're making the super luxury like go get the valve index. Let's go. Let's write this for real problem with that. Bree Yeah you might drop that in the toilet the Oh my God. I'm just saying or it's on on. I'm aware that I'm thinking about you. Know Yeah Okay. So that was one of the products the other one was a robot slyke looks like Oh what's his name. The Uber Guy Mike Uh what's his last night. I was facing it. Looks like the sharpen bears like it. Looks like Mike Isaacs twitter so it's robot will bring you a roll of toilet paper if you need it which I have to admit I love me now. I love it. It's a Roomba that will deliver toilet paper to you right. I'm into that in the third one is basically. It's an toast chemical warfare detection to basically. We'll tell you when you go into the restroom and when you cannot so clearly clearly I don't know why people Attack this for being a pointless show. These guys is here. I have some complaints okay. But you're going to have to bleep this real quick because this is a bit like this is literally. There's a great twitter account Internet and this is literally Internet like. I'm I'm kind of here for that. We've we've reached peak Internet of things when this is what what literally happens. I'm Sam Lamps. Okay here's my complaint excitement initially hearing of the VR toilet toilet technology famously. Something that we we humans have quote unquote perfected long ago. Toilets changed very little since their inception for most people. I'm sure perhaps the rich have some kind of you've seen fancy toilets so we don't know about. I don't know what Jeff Bass uses but most of US use the same kind of toilet thought this was going to be an exciting innovation. No Oh it is simply a VR headset to protect me from the fact that I am using a public toilet which I appreciate would love love to be ignorant of that fact would love to be transported to the front show of a Youtube concert while I'm dropping a big one Somewhere I don't know where I guess. In this scenario the port a potty is at the concert and I'm pooping while watching the concert in Vr. Miss it that's the concept still disappointed. Disappointed this is just simply a mishmash of two products. Not a revolutionary.

I would say almost every foe Viet Renan demo of I've done so far. It's not fast enough or it's not meaningful enough of a of performance difference. Now, they think. I mean, phobia rendering is going to be important. I mean, I I tracked is going to be important for things like multi focal. Verret focal lenses 'cause you'll need to know where your eyes are. And those are lenses that change the focus of yet. See depth of the thing that you're staring at yes. On the flights. Help solve for a combination. Convergence problem. Right. Same with augmented. Reality glasses magically has eye tracking. And we can tell it's not as fast as you would like to switch between the two focal doubts. So it won't meant to be seen. How I tracking is implemented. I'm Lawrenson nitrogen from a social standpoint personally. And but and I don't see these properties social apps embracing the vibe pro I you mean avatars. Yeah. Avatar represents everyone else in restroom, or in big-screen any place that I see other people hanging out with you guys. I wanna see your eyes move like that that will make you come that much more alive to me. That's a very meaningful impact and something where latency would not be exactly. And even accuracy as long as it can get a good sense. It is another point of tracking for something that we use. And that's important data. You would think that companies we all over this? Because that type I tracking data something they h- usually value of just. Big data analytics or what you're looking at but persons, you can get so much more persons feeling with tracking and what they're thinking about from the eye movements. And that's something that know, it's probably very aware of do. You think there's any chance legitimate chance. It'd be able to retrofit existing by pros with it though. Not that seems like not a I'm just going to clip in some new lenses, and they're going to work. I mean, much bigger deal than that. Yeah. To tie into the existing data stream that sounds complicated. I don't know. Then I'll be curiously what applications support it if they're strictly for the enterprise, or if you know, I don't know rec room or some other apps actually implement support for it that be very interesting to wander and actually see somebody's is moving around. Raymond Wong was who I was thinking for Mashal, Haege waited. And you know, it kind of blew up on Reddit and elsewhere he was playing super hot and in a hotel room, the ES on the quest and said, this is the VR headset. We've been waiting for. Oh, well, I mean, speaking of the quest. What do we think of the announcement of Cosmo's? Yeah. The cosmos that's unfair. Why speaking of quest for well because cosmos is a supposedly inside out tracked. Yes. Standalone known, isn't it? I think they must have been intentionally vague about that. So that people would falsely make that connection? That's my only assumption. They put a very. Intentional or into that discussion. I think it's more Ken right now, actually to windows mixed reality headset. Yeah. Exactly. Because inside out tracking is the big promise. And so you don't have the setup for this is much reduced in. It's good enough for vast majority of experiences where you're not required of track things behind you. This is a new headset from five yes. And it is I think it has go resolution panels if I'm not mistaken, and it's a inside out tracked as you said, but it will require PC hookup or potentially. They're saying a mobile hookup. So the PC hookup connection to then still render and play games on the PC, presumably still seem VR. But is it tether game? Or is. It is tethered wireless. It is it is for PC. It has to be a USB. See okay source system connection. The wireless promise is if you are then broadcasting that to a smartphone than the smartphone becomes the coder the video decoder, and then sends that signal to display you're looking at the smartphone screen, but the smartphone Tom realize signal from the signal or renders locally. Yeah. Yeah. I would think rendering locally, but it's still wired to smartphone. Yes. Yes. Interesting. Yeah. So that's the untethered PC VR experience not due until quarter three is that right?.

Absolutely hope you enjoy that stuff and now it is time to find out what happened in that t t t be question boy. That was a really tough one. Oh, no, social, this firm has ever failed the bar exam. No kidding. Yeah. So this was a a tort question. This involved a kind of a multi-layered scenario. So you have a construction company digging trenches in a high crime neighborhood, and then it is specified in the fact pattern that there have been thefts during the if it was Canir the White House. That could be a high crime and misdemeanor neighborhood, but. Different, a high white collar, crime neighborhood. Then late one night construction company of neglected to place warning lights around the trench. So a delivery truck drives into it breaks its axle. The driver gets out. He is calling toll truck and thieves from this high white collar crime area come out and break into the back of the truck steel, three hundred fifty thousand dollars worth of goods. The construction company stipulates that it's negligent as to failure to put out the warning lights and presumably leading to the crash of the delivery truck, but then denies that it has any liability for the loss of the goods. And so then the parties file cross motions for summary, judgment and you Thomas you, you kind of puzzled through this right across motion, just means both sides. We don't need to go to trial. We have all of the information that we have. There are no disputed material facts, and we want. Judgment as a matter of law on this issue right issue, right that this is testing is the issue of foreseeability in torts, right? So our answers were a denied both motions, which means you go to trial because there is evidence to support a finding.
