You know marvel and with with what they've been doing the last decade now they are yes. They're drawing from obscure corners of the comic universe but they're also very mainstream about it and that's what's led up to. Success is that they a transition a lot of these obscure elements into mainstream elements. And they recognize the fact that so many of their viewers do not care about the comics lower and by doing so. They've created this huge juggernaut and they're going to keep using that formula going forward because it's it's obviously working man. Have you seen that night. Live sketch when chris pratt hosted it was basically lake. Marvel guards the galaxy and the next summer. The coming out with ant man. This proves that marvel can do no wrong. "He when he saw him at the very beginning he looked like he was up to no good and you saw in later on that he was to use the corpse of vision to create a new weaponized enemy. He yeah so was that the only controversy was people are upset that quicksilver wasn't actually quicksilver. The other controversies people expected to see reed richards main. You know it's coming guys. I mean why are you upset that it. Nt that it's happening. You know it's coming. What i don't get what those people are making these predictions of the fantastic four. Make an appearance on wanna vision. When they're still cats. I think are still casting. Yeah they haven't confirmed casting as the only the to like. I think John kaczynski is reed richards. And all that official. I know people have been wanting that well john courtesy. He said he talked with marvel. And he's playing a specific were. I think it's all but confirmed that he is reed richards. But as far as late as emily blonde gonna be sued storm. Don't know that. I don't know like they've been saying that. Was going to be jennifer a jennifer lawrence. I had heard that. I was like why lay jennifer lawrence one to exit out of x. Men so bad. Why put her back in new superhero property. I don't get a but whoever it is. I'm i'm very interested to see a. Yeah i mean next. Up is back in the winter soldier whether or not that show is going to be. That's the other question is while this sets up things for what we know is going to be doctor. Strange to and also spiderman three. The question captain marvel two orient probably improbably. Probably the secret invasion. Show that That was another big fury with squirrels. Bit ston yeah that that disney plus series now. I wonder 'cause. I know kevin feige said some of these shows are going to get another season. Do you think this one is gonna be one gets another season. The possibility is there. And what i say that is that i don't think while the They complete the origin of the character scar. Which i don't think her story is over event more to tell that character. I mean right now from what you know. She's still 'cause she did not have a happy ending in the show like she walked away feeling like regret that people think she is a danger. So that's why she's living up in the cabinet under words like in the woods testing out her powers. So i do feel like they're going to explore with her more now. What the second season is going to be. I have no idea that. I think that's going to depend on. What the result of doctor strange to and spider man three. But i do think we will see the return of wanda in some form. Either vision or another story are for wanda herself to take control. The one other thing is that since this. Mcu keeps jury picking and choosing different stories to adapt from the comics..

"The other stuff that the i mean again with the other things about how we find out who the real culprit of this. Now people hyped it up to being the the satan instill right name but he is. He was nowhere to be seen and said it was a the nosy neighbor who turn out to be as he said a nation which and she made sold deal. That wanda is the new witch. And she finally gets retitled scarlet at finally gets her official superhero costume. Yup while she's fighting off against the evil which heartbreaking things at this end. I mean her coming to realize that she can keep her fictional kids or image of vision that she sees though mean knowing that there is a vision. Still out there could be happy ending. The only thing is i was confused as to what the heck was going on with her. The other a post credits scene is at the very end where you see. She is alone in a cabin drinking coffee. And then you go inside. The cabin were appears to be. She is in the cabin By the sink. And then she's also in the other room Casting spells like what do you think is going on with that. I don't even know it. Looks like she's able to be to project herself and other places and it looks like she's like learning more about her powers. I we know that this somehow is going to open the door to the multi-diverse with doctor. Strange to impossibly spiderman three up. I'm not sure what it's hinting at other than like she's going to be stronger with her powers but i'm i'm game i'm game marvel. You're keeping me hooked. And i am completely surprised that they basically did a nine episode. Grief drama maxed with television sitcom. I like this. This whole arc is wanda dealing with her grief in recovering from the loss of vision. And i don't i just don't know of other people would do this with a billion dollar franchise and i have to commend them for doing this than like green lighting. And be like yeah. Let's do that. Because this show finally makes both wanda and the vision interesting characters because honestly really did not have much to do in these movies and this finally fleshes the mouth and i'm i'm just i'm game for marvel to try new things with their characters well to flush them out. I mean yeah going into that. The last three episodes you got the c one as a kid and it also explains why is she really loves sitcoms. I mean going into her. Passive being in war-torn country. There are some other bing ads while also other characters that were just on the sidelines. I mean we mentioned From thor and thirty. Two cat danny ings. Yeah her character and she was great in the show like that made her character. More interesting to and also the randall. Park for ant man and the wasp. Yeah they'll take some small characters and flush them out even more. And i find that really awesome that they paid more attention to the smart people here and gave them their own are at at the end randall as he got promoted on his position z. I mean they took. They took down there. Eva corporate batty. Who is trying to use the vision to do something. Nefarious scheming kaz..

"Get exactly where everyone of these characters. Why they feel the way they feel and why they do the things they do. I mean they're living in apocalyptic world and they're trying to survive as best they can and they've been you know as raya talks about you know you watch the film. They hear her. Dad tries to bring everybody together and everybody kind of gets upset over other having more of a share than the other. Yeah because it's a world that's been on limited resources so i do you know what the outcome is because we haven't experienced that in in real life yet even in texas. We're close to that with the snowstorm. And all that but yeah. I would say the only thing that if that yet at the very beginning of aquafina athena's their character as her ask sissy And then i would say yacht. Even though i didn't find those little characters that annoying they they weren't annoying. I liked them. But it did feel like those characters were added for cutesy effects. I share and they didn't really need them. Because you have the giant animal that i think allen to dick voices. Yeah so. I mean it was. We gotta get more toys the They weren't now when. I say that i don't mean like they were just there to sell toys. They had no black. I mean they did but the end the day it also. It felt like we just need something hugh and either soap like in the future in does serve psychically kind of pick and choose but it didn't. It didn't really make a huge effect on the quality of the story. Because i was very invested in. Yeah even though. I wouldn't always say pay thirty dollars. I didn't feel like my thirty dollars is wasted. Yeah i would say that. That's valid in fair point to say. I don't know if i'd say it's worth the thirty dollars. But if you decide to buy it and especially if you have kids or you have a family you're not gonna regret it after you watch the film but i mean if you wanna wait till it's available on the service go ahead. I mean it's fine. But yeah no i mean. I don't think any something. He movie needs to be thirty dollars. But i mean if you saw happen to pay for it compared to malign. I think this is a you know a much. More reason to put premier acts assign and hopefully it takes off. I'm not seeing takes. Often media franchise a takes off so people really do see kelly marie tran and the rest of the town for what they're worth and also pushing the their disney and pixar to work with more creative diverse ideas which they still doing it. The next pixar movie is actually set in the caribbean. Like you tagging place. Yeah it's called a their luna or of lucia be characters. They're actually a latino late. Okay curry scott Almost like a steven universe s. Cg drection do it. i. I'm excited for that film..

"Actress is so wonderful. Seeing her. you know get real Are live in the body. This character which is also an action star. And that's a big thing about movie is that has ame film. It's also portrayed as an action film. there's a lot of fight. Kharafi of i mean repertory kind of inspired by you. The the culture that's representing. But also i would. I would say some the great. Cg animated i fancy action series out there. The also got a little bit of an indiana jones vibe. Or does i mean there is a big treasure hunt going on or there but i yeah i was just really loving the character relationships between those two end even some additional characters. They bring on like there was a kid. I thought it was going to be annoying. Yeah you'd thank. He's going to be annoying at first because of the little humor he's using and then he turns out to be the waiter. Hey how're you doing. But he changes out of that. Yeah and even the baby and the little furry and her little furry animals sidekicks you thank god. They can't really do this well. They're going to get annoying. They weren't annoying. Because i can't think of the actor's name he plays wong doctor strange and he's the spy in the only survivor of the spine clan. He was really good. So ben. That's benedict wong as long as a warrior giant and the kid is shefa benji. I mean benji but he he's played by a dang all at daycare and aquafina as you mentioned the the main tag I wouldn't even say antagonise but the maim threatened to raya in this whole thing as we mentioned earlier. That is naomi What am i saying. namrata memory of played by by gemma. Ken and that was probably the heart of out of all chemistries our lease commodities that was part of the film that got me the most invested in a story is they were getting a know. Each other as little kids is like actually does having conversations. She brings up some interesting things like not having End that this little subtle conversations kind of gives you the whole world building. They have gone on here. It's a gorgeous role. I mean disney has a lot of money they can afford to make their movies looker. Eight and this does of course. Yeah absolutely it's gorgeous animation. And they did not. They pulled out all the stops on this. Yeah i was just really impressed with this film in. You could say you were you were because you were influenced by the thirty th no really. I really really was charmed by this movie and even think about like it was bold enough to at least make Not just any not just having nobody antagonised but also everybody the antagonise. 'cause right yeah because everyone is kind of doing things for selfish purposes and they don't trust each other and they're willing to stab someone in the back because they're looking out for themselves in their their group of their tribe so to speak. Yeah but they well they don't look and they just look out for their own tribes. Everybody's outside their tribe is immediately and enemy..

"Are doing it as an act of protecting their people or what they think is the right thing to do. I also love that. Disney is continuing to have these strong female protagonists. That are strong on their own. They are not supported by any male characters. There's no forced romance into the story. It's not even element in the story. And i'm liking this trajectory and i think that the filmmakers and writers used aqua athena's personality well to where even if you're a person that doesn't enjoy her comedic presence on screen i think they made it work in this. You know why i. I didn't feel that way it a little bit. Now there's the whole thing about aquafina as that which has been controversial about the actress herself and another actor. Asian actor bez while but she has the sort of lake at black attitude are worshipful slayings and all that And at the very beginning of the introduction of character. I add some concerns. Were i felt like it could have went there but as it went on. That's not what her cared about. And she's like everything that when she was introduced the app it felt like they moved away from a and you got to see who discovered. There was really about which you know. You don't have to have her be the way it is by. I guess the way they were thinking about this they were thinking of seer to be somewhat of a genie. Of course. yeah. I mean this is ben. Disney's trajectory sense aladdin is. Let's get a famous comedian. Are famous actor to voice sort of the side character sidekick to our protagonists and cast them within their personality of their persona but the very least like she's a she's more toned-down than in other films. I've seen her in where she says. Applause his comedian guide tone at light. Guy was that that lebanon at eleven ocean date. Yeah yeah. I really liked her. In this as it went on between her and rao's voiced by kelly. Murray tran ben. I'm so glad she has this movie. And as the lead. Because you know we were talking about internet trolls and bullying. It's shameful. what people did to her online all because they don't like star wars movie. Well yeah i mean. They were blaming her. On the writing of which i. I'm not going to even defend the writing. I thought that character was written well at all and they push data shoved her aside like tossed her over like an old shoe and the third one where he didn't even know she was there and i just thought that was really sad. The way Disney handled neck hairdresser. And i thought this whole movie was a big redemption to her and knowledge representation of this but also lady no the reins..

"Gen they just override the higher heart and turn so many people down six years later than apocalypse by raya fines. The last dragon who is voiced by aquafina caffeine as ceo. And but the thing is she does not have all the abilities with her to help. Fight off against these beasts so they have to go across the lance defined the remaining piece crystal crystal pieces. Take them away from the kenyan leaders and hopefully aurora Wants her father back her. Bud su zuzu please be unite together. The whole message of this is trust which is interesting. The film portrays that. And i think it's just really awesome. A what does lee is doing now. This is from the director of my era big hero six but also winnie the pooh movie from twenty eleven. That's one of the directors dot hall. The director here is carlos lopez estra who is a A latino filmmaker who did the amazing film blind spotting so you have to directors not one wipe a one who is also was latino. They've worked with stories that are outside of the race and was able to do an excellent Excellency excellently but yeah somebody could look at all. This is an asian story with an all asian cast member why not nation director. I'm that could be an argument for another day but may we could argue. Why was coming to america directed by a white man. Also the other film that you mentioned That a murphy stardom which was also the same for the same Dolemite that they yeah to me. I'm all about key. Kennedy represents that culture correctly. 'cause i mean i never wanted to believe that. A black man can directed movie filled with white actors or white at at urge director. Ken direct a movie filled with black actors. It all depends on how they can go back and a one. The best examples is actually. I'm the director of the hurt locker. I who did detroit. Which is a very harsh by an intense biotech at that as long as she did get criticized from some people about directing. That film did but then some people came out and said well. We didn't know about this story. Yeah so i think the key thing is is that yes. it's always beneficial if you have someone representing the culture or the gender that the film is about but as long as you're creative team is made up of people of that demographic or of this culture then and you're listening to them and they're providing input on how to properly portray this on screen than it doesn't really matter who's actually the director because it's a collaborative experience and as long as the directors are listening to these. Various people giving their input insight. You're gonna come out with a strong film. It's also important to know that this is written by asian screenplay writers. There you go. I mean that is the one question we have to ask good. 'cause it's been a big controversy with milan. Sigma lion den correctly. Represents you know a asian culture which is a chinese and this is a different side. And i mean would you say that this movie has a better representation. I think it does just from watching it. I definitely like the message of this story in this film going on i especially about trusting one another being kind to one another. There's two things i really like in. This movie will three things actually one. I liked that. There's no true antagonists in this film that even the people that are doing things that seem nefarious..

"That wasn't special compared to everybody else's comedic timing but it was of movie that i did have genuine fun but i didn't feel it. Was that great that you kind of either agree or disagree with that. No going to agree with you. I have seen the original. It's been a very long time. What i remember. It's a very hilarious movie. I'm not sure how it's aged in. Its thirty two years but a lot of people love the original film and like you said it's very contrived as far as the plot goes it's essentially the opposite plot of the original movie which you probably got a gist of that by the referencing and talking about things that it's essentially. Okay now. they're going and the whole thing about him. Having this sun is random because there wasn't even this element in the original film like this is something. They pulled out to make a sequel. And it's kind kinda sad. Because i was originally initially somewhat excited since it was eddie murphy. Re teaming with craig brewer. Who helped him make. Dolemite is my name which was a great movie. So i thought they could do something a little more interesting with this instead of. Just making a remake the first movie and setting it in his fictional african country as opposed to eddie. Murphy's character being in america being the fish out of water but there are some. There are some really good things in this movie. I think wesley snipes is hilarious in this. I think he might still the show. I also really liked kiki lane in here and getting to see her action again. As the oldest daughter of eddie murphy she had a really good characterization. And i think between this and the old guard she may be a of future action star definitely helps so is that one of the things i do appreciate us. Film is that does show wide of female empowerment especially black female empowerment. 'cause yes she is the oldest sister she's also martial arts expert and you know has really been about what is best for of the king. That doesn't immediately trusts the new brother. We have here efforts to allow me. Trophy character-building i mean. Yeah i kind of got the feeling halfway through. The story is not going to be a strongest part of this found. But i didn't really have to appreciate. We have more films like us. Were you while. There's probably one or two might stereotype. There's a lot of strong our representation here absolutely. Yeah there of course is still those caricatures and characters that eddie murphy and arsenio hall bring back from the original film that her definitely stereotypical and are not as but yeah like you said there is a very good strong female empowerment within this film and about the changes of where society is an how we should change. I mean there are a few groaning jokes here and there were they reference things that have changed. That were not funny. Like it'd be murphy saying he liked being on sleek and stuff like that and it is a little sad. Because i would have. I would like this to have been a stronger film. Especially because i think eddie murphy is one of our most talented comedic actors and i think craig brewer's and interesting director so i would have liked to have seen stronger movie but is could have been much worse..

Cbs alexis but the ones brandon under paramount. Plus because you can still watch star trek The carton and she was the one to repeal. Rediscovery are the animated one you all actually discovery him. They enemy so they have a new an adult anime and show. You can watch that on permanent plus and so they do have that as far as like original shows under the zone brand. They're only two shows in two movies in the rest of it is everything that was previously on. Cbs access and then even know. They don't even have a larger film library yet. they have. They have a decent sized film library because they do allow you to watch previous paramount released films. The the first indiana jones movie on and for some reason. I guess any joan still has like contract with animal. What's gone with that or the cases. I think it's too soon for them. Do go emmy. Cbs all access. I think it's fine. With 'Raya,' Disney has their biggest animated action hero to date — and yes, she's still a princess

"Chang says the new Disney film Riot, and the last Dragon is not just for kids. He calls it a gorgeously animated fantasy adventure with a hopeful message. For this moment, the movie began streaming on Disney plus today. Ryan and the last Dragon is the lovely moving surprise. Its big selling point is that it's the first Disney animated film to feature Southeast Asian characters. Like so many movies that break ground in terms of representation, it tells a story that's actually woven from reassuringly familiar parts. Didn't mind that in the slightest. The movie directed by the Disney veteran Don Hall and the animation newcomer Carlos Lopez. Estrada brings us into a fantasy world that's been beautifully visualized and populated with engaging characters. And it builds to an emotional climax that I'm still thinking about days later. Story is a little complicated as these stories tend to be It takes place in command Ra and enchanted realm inspired by various Southeast Asian cultures and divided into five kingdoms, named after a dragon's body parts heart Thing, spine, Talyn and tail. Before they became extinct centuries ago. Dragons once roamed the land and served as friendly guardians to humanity. Their magic lives on in a Jule called the Dragon Gym, which is kept in a cave in the heart, but the other four kingdoms covet. It's mighty powers. One day all five factions come together and try to reach a peace agreement. But tensions erupt. Ah fight breaks out, and the gem shatters into five pieces that are scattered across come, Andhra. This opens the doorway to an ancient enemy called Bedroom, a terrible plague that turns people to stone. Actually, a hero must rise and save the day. Her name is Ryan. And she's a young warrior princess from heart voiced by the excellent Kelly Marie Tran from Star Wars. The last Jedi. I Ryan manages to escape the drone, though her father, her body whose leader of heart isn't so lucky. Now Ryan must recover the pieces of the Dragon Jim, reverse the damage and banished that room for good. This is the first time we've seen a brave young character embark on a quest for magical bottles. And Ryan and the last Dragon is rooted in traditional fantasy lore with the Lord of the Rings and game of Thrones being just the most obvious influences. Movies, Intense scenes of sword play and hand to hand combat. Give it a tougher, more grown up field and most Disney animated fantasies. My own young daughter had to cover her eyes a few times. Some other recent Disney princesses, including marijuana, and Elsa Ryan has a bold, adventurous streak and isn't all that interested in romance? Unlike them, she doesn't even have time to sing a song. That said the movie still has plenty of lightness and humor. Screenwriters. Quick win and Adele Limb have provided the usual Disney array of cute critters and lively supporting characters. None of them is more colorful than see Soo Ah friendly water Dragon who is magically resurrected during riots journey. She's the last of her kind, and she has a crucial role to play in the story. She's voiced delightfully by Aquafina doing one of her signature chatterbox comedy routines and selling everyone of ceases and naturalistic wisecracks. In one scene, she touches a piece of the dragon Jim and magically Lights up. Which riots sees as a hopeful sign. You were glowing. Oh, thank you. I use Alan Rivers climb. Maintain my know this'd my little sister office magic. I got that glow in your little sister's much jack. Yet. Every dragon has a unique magic. Okay, What's yours? I am a really strong swimmer. Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. You touch this gym piece, and it gave you powers. You know what this means? Right? I no longer need a night light. What? No, you're still connected to the jumps. Magic, not means you can still use it to save the world. If we can get all the other Jen pieces, you can reassemble it and, well, the drooling away. And bring my bar back and bring all of commander back Ryan and sees his journey takes them toe. All five kingdoms of command ra all of which are so vivid and transporting, I found myself wishing they really existed. More than I could have at least seen them on a proper movie screen. There's the town of talent, which is built at the edge of a river and the desert wasteland of tail where Ryan and See Soo must enter a cave of obstacles straight out of an Indiana Jones adventure. As the two of them search for more dragon Jim pieces. They, of course, pick up a few friends along the way. There's a street smart boy who cooks a mean shrimp Con ji and a toddler pickpocket, whom I found more creepy than cute. The movie's most intriguing character is no Mari arrival. Princess from Fang, who's voiced by Gemma Chan. As a side note. Chan and Aquafina both appeared in crazy rich Asians, which, like this movie was co written by Adele Limb. Mari and Roya used to be friends until the fight over the dragon Jim rip them apart. Now they're bitter enemies, and their emotional dynamic is fierce and complicated in ways that relationships are rarely allowed to be in Children's animated films, especially between women. Contrast, See, Sue is all feel good vibes. She's a dragon, after all, with little understanding of how treacherous humans can be. She doesn't get by riot and the Mari distrust each other so why they can't just set their differences aside and defeat the drone together. It's Caesar's sincerity and purity of heart. That makes the stories finale so unexpectedly stirring, especially now. Our fates are closely bound together. It reminds us as it builds a case for forgiveness, reconciliation and mutual sacrifice. The emotional power of riot and the last dragon sneaks up on you. Its lessons aren't knew exactly, but it makes you feel like you're learning them for the first time. Justin

Disney's New Movie 'Raya And The Last Dragon' Out Now

"New movie hits theaters and Disney. Plus today for 29 99. You can stream Mariah and the Last Dragon Southeast Asian Warrior riots seeks the last dragon to save the world from a monstrous plague. In order to restore peace. We must find the last dragon. Her funny sidekick is a water dragon voice by Aquafina, who recalls Robin Williams Genie in Aladdin. I'm not like the best dragon Have you ever done like a group project? But there's like that one. Headed in pitch in as much We're doomed. The digital animation rivals any video game featuring cool reflections in sword blades. Best of all are the timely themes as the plague turns victims to stone in an allegory for covert 19, where we can only be saved if we learn to trust our perceived enemies.

"The sessions on zoom. Just like this is crazy. What would start like recording that through resume as opposed to being like you know. What does the animation studios in a proper recording. What would the challenges of that. It was hard you know i. It's funny because you're recording. Destroy the sound for this movie. That you know is going to be incredible. But then like the internet's cutting out and there's construction happening and there's dogs barking. It's a really funny strange experience to sort of have a cognitive dissonance. You know you're like you imagine what working on a movie like this will be like and then the reality of it is you're just trying to. You're you're hoping that you're in. That connection is not gonna cut out that day the joys of lockdown and relying on. Yeah hoping that walkman who's outside just doesn't upper your internet I know kaya needed same will than any other day. And i go into the office or different is it. You know stepping into the world of animation and voicing power versus being on that with the other actors seeing everything because explain that for our listeners of the animation Necessarily see everything in front of you. Yeah it's totally different Really really cool things about it. I think the coolest thing about it is that i learned how to my imagination a lot more because when you are in essentially a dark room and you your character is in like in front of a large castle or it a field full of dragoon you have to really imagine yourself there and recognize the reality of circumstances in order to really be authentic to that moment at it's totally totally different experience than doing something like star wars where you're on a set that is built to look like ship and you're still using your imagination but not the extent that you have to use it for animated movie See i will say that with every project and feel like. I am gaining more and more tools that i can hopefully used for future things Everything's learning experience. I think i said at the beginning of the ut of raya and the loss dragon is it doesn't just folk. Someone country brings so pretty much of southeast asia again visually. What was that. Like to see that on. Scree like from indonesia from vietnam from the philippines. All those different countries represented one cartoon moshav puts like i said before i think ever was really really meticulous about making sure that this part of the world is represented accurately and still to be able to watch this movie and sort of let all of that wash over me to make sense like details of the food in addition to the terrains that make up the five different lands in mantra in addition to the text of fabrics in the shapes that make up the clothing that all the different clans are wearing everything has been combed over with a fine tooth. Comb by the story. Trust that was put together by disney to make sure that we were doing justice to this part of the world and it makes me really emotional to see all of that work. Because i think the truth of the matter is if you do it right you don't have to talk about it that make sense in terms of the characters the characters don't have to talk about like get my outfit look at this thing like it's just existing and when i watched that movie i think that's the most powerful part of it is. These characters are just existing in this world and this world where my family's from and it happens to be honoring is part of the world that does get to be honored that much and also that makes me emotional to see all of those things on that resonate with me. The food the martial arts the clothing the terrain and how these characters exist in flourish in that world without having to explain themselves that is so important and empowering and here you of the southeast asian disney princess it's crazy. Yeah is that sunk in yet. It didn't really sink in until i started doing. Press for this movie and people have been saying it to me over and over and over. And now i feel like it's starting to sink in like i said before. I grew up loving disney movies. This was a it was a huge part of my childhood to be a part of something like this is such a dream. Come true and i think though the most important thing for me to recognize that being the first is really cool because it means were breaking boundaries. But you don't wanna be the last you know. So i think it's both an honor and responsibility is really exciting to be here. It's incredible to be breaking barriers to be part of a positive change but another thing that's important to me is also opening that door and letting other people through and so. I hope that it's not the last but is just the first just the beginning mighty print such as the had one of the beauties of riot is. She's strong but we both have vulnerable. How did you tap into her. and how. How would you describe personality. Yeah i think that was really important to me to make sure that she was a character that even though she was technically a warrior she was still witty. And funny with your friends. She was still vulnerable in moments. Like you said things maker side and things make her angry. And i think being honest to just what it is to be a woman if that makes sense like all of his experience this entire wealth of human emotion all the time. And it's so rare that we get to see that depicted in a character movies for some reason the i guess what i'm saying is it was really important to me to make sure that riot was a character who felt authentic. And not just an idea of what someone like. This would be. As i mentioned in the beginning i love. Don't better but in the crudes. At julia they love love that movie best driving experience. I've never done the driving. And really so. I took my friend's butler sleep. I want to five six hundred okay. We'll we'll put that out there for guys. I'm so glad you liked it. That was such a fun movie to work on and such different character Riath and i loved it allowed every second. So i thank you for saying. We need to take a quick break. But we'll be back in just a moment with more from kelley. Murray.

"So clarice was saying because they show Carl weathers and Gina. What's her name I don't remember yeah. MMA Gina. Yeah. The wrestler woman and they have the scene where they're like walking. Yeah and courses like no see that scene wasn't there. I'm like, yes, it was. So we went back and we watched the trailer and that shows that scene because she said Oh no, she still on that island or the island planet or whatever, and said the exact same thing that's hilarious. Yeah and I said no, it's on the trailer. Watch the trailer and that scene in the trailer too. so that's crazy nothing really is nothing new and that's and that's one of them that that an identified as something new and I thought I, thought I definitely thought it was new I didn't do side by side. So yeah. was was the was the ship in distress in the trailer, yeah? Okay because. It was flying over the planet showed one of his jets flickering out. Yeah and the doors opened the bay doors open and the jets flickering and I was like I I don't I don't recall that original. Okay. So I'm just a bad. It's coming out in a week and it's like, Hey, from a marketing standpoint, like let's get excited here comes. Yeah. Yeah and I think it works I guess that that people people are clamoring people need this right now. So that's right. I know I'm excited I'm excited. So we to interro talking dragons. Yes i. know this is new. Well, this is new. Yes. Ray in the last dragon I mean once you had Clarisa Dragon. So. What I was wondering though I don't know of the opening of this trailer is such that it's Cova compliance. Because he has the mask and everything and it's like sending the message to kids like Massar. Cool. It's the thing we're doing nowadays because it starts off the first scene of her phases with the mask. But then she sees the roly-poly takes the mascot turns into a mass coal and it's like. What if the really poly get Kovin Well, you actually get really pull you get if you ate the roly poly raw, that's that's how you get the Kobe. That works. Yeah. It's cool. We're a mask I. Guess I think it's cool that you know it kind of missed. You know I was hoping it would not out until March of next year and supposedly in the theaters they are that they're saying they're just hoping and betting and hoping for the best but I think they're ready for next Halloween if there's Pleased to God say by next Halloween, we're out of this but if we're nine okay then we have the, we have the number one costume for the season with. Rayo with her mask. Well can I say something though about like if you go back to the early days of trailer Junkies yes, we would do movies that came out. Well, I should say we would do trailers for movies that were coming out six, eight, ten, twelve months lead time only in the corona virus time with all the streaming stuff. Are we lead times of two weeks? Raya in the last dragon is like. The way it ought to be feels like it's the prop the proper timeline the way typically otherwise would be I mean all this net flicks. Yes. The trailer drops next week the episodes out I mean like that's just modern day like trailer dropping I guess I don't know I just like last week when I said that. The the trial of the Chicago seven was already out where were shocked. Oh, yeah. We covered it and you're like, all right I watched it. I'm like wait we just covered it what he's. Yeah I'm used to like we covered it and then like nine months later Oh. Yeah..

The Murder Rule

"Usually in our criminal legal system. In order to convict someone of a crime, there are two primary factors at play the first is. What a person does their action. The second is what that person intended to do. In Law we call what a person does. Actus Reus what is the action? And what is on a person's mind? What they intended to do is known as men's Raya. And it's the hallmark of a civilized legal system. We care about an individual's actions and we care about an individual's intent. Let me give you an example of this principle. For crime of misdemeanor theft. The prosecutor has to prove to a jury that someone took something. That's the act. With the intent to permanently deprive the rightful owner of that thing that's the intent. So. Let's say. I'm in a store to buy toothbrush. And I pick up toothbrush and I leave the store. Now, that would look like a theft. Let's say that I left the store because I got an emergency phone call from my daughter's school and there was no reception store. So I rushed outside to hear the call. Or. Let's say that I left the store because I suddenly realized that I left my wallet in the car. In both of those situations I did leave the store with the toothbrush. But I had no intent to permanently deprive the store. The prosecutor could not show that I committed a crime because I didn't intend to do so. What you do matters, it does what you do matters but a person's intent according to the law also matters and this makes perfect sense. You wouldn't want to convict somebody of a crime because of an accident and Mrs just for Misdemeanor Theft. And it makes sense because in our legal system, we say. I almost have to put parentheses around say we say that liberty is paramount. Before, we're going to let a prosecutor strip you of your rights since you away from all of your loved ones, send you away from your family, your job, your career you're calling and put you in a prison sale. They should have to prove that a person did something wrong. And meant to do something wrong. However. There is one very old relic in our criminal law. Where what a person actually does and what a person intends to do. Does not matter at all. A prosecutor in this, it blows my mind to think about this. A prosecutor can lock up someone for life. For, a murder that a person did not commit a murder that everyone knows they did not commit. A prosecutor can lock someone for life and everyone knows that they did not intend to hurt anyone. A prosecutor can tell a jury that it doesn't matter that the person didn't intend to hurt anyone. And, this rule is known as the felony murder rule. And it is incredibly problematic tens of thousands of people all over the country from coast to coast are in prison because of this one single rule right now. This rule says that if a person is committing a felony, let's say robbery. And in committing that robbery, a person gets killed. The, felony murder rule says everybody who committed the robbery can now also be held responsible for the murder. That law came from the Middle Ages in England. But. It has now been banned in every country whose legal system originally came from England. It has been abolished in Ireland. It has been abolished in Canada in India it was abolished in England in Nineteen fifty six. But it's still exist in almost every state in the United States of America,

Sharon Stone Got Kicked Off of Bumble

"Sharon stone has been kicked off of the dating APP Bumble Bowl and honestly this whole thing is like it's making me quietly devastated. Sharon stone the very famous and very gorgeous sixty fifty one year. Old Actress tweeted about getting kicked off of the dating operating quote. I went on the at bumbled dating site and they closed my account eyeball emoji eyeball emoji. Some users reported that it couldn't possibly be me. Hey At bumble is being me exclusionary. Shrugging Emoji you. Don't shut me out of the HIVE. End Quote this upsets me. I am upset for many reasons but first of all. I'm upset that Sharon stone is trying to beyond bumble at all for me in my personal belief system. Celebrities should be on riot. The exclusive dating APP for celebrities Duh. So this bums me out because I'm assuming riot hasn't approved her yet or something in which case Raya Your cancelled you're fully cancelled bit. Sharon deserves serves love okay. Sharon stone deserves love and if she wants to find love on bumble. It's her God given right. Hey maybe she hasn't heard Araya or or maybe she wants to date a regular person like you know one of the people which is very admirable. bumble was so shook that Sharon chose to sign up for a normal normal person dating APP. That they I guess. Shut down her page thinking it was faked but if bumble is working out Sharon's got plenty of replies to her tweet from potential suitors including one that got almost fifteen hundred legs at the time of me recording this written by my friend at Shaken Baiki who said quote damn. That's so crazy. They knew there was a reason. We hadn't matched yet. Ha Ha but we're here now. So dot dot dot and quote anyway. The bumble has restored her account and I assume the marketing reading department is like spraying champagne everywhere because they got all this free publicity from Sharon stone and Hey I'm happy for Sharon stone. She's got her bumble account back and you know she wants to date normal people like I said. That's that's brave speaking of Sharon stone being single and potentially lonely. I'm reminded for October. Twenty nine teen interview that she did with allure where she said quote. I wish that someone had fallen in love with me. I guess I think life would have been less harsh with a partner and quote. God that makes me so sad. Someone should love Sharon stone. She deserves love okay. What a devastating quote There's another apart in the article Talks about being lonely in general and it makes me very very sad. She said quote. I Miss People inviting me over for dinner inviting me to do things. Most famous famous people spend a lot of time alone. I still have my friends from thirty forty years ago when I have to go to something run upstairs. Throw on some lipstick and sunglasses. And they're they're like Oh you just turned into Sharon stone. Cruise Excursions in Curacao and Beyond

"I'm excited today to be talking about excursions in Curacao and really excursions in general on a cruise ship when you go to different ports Focusing again on Curacao is that's our area of so called expertise so I should be modest right. I think I am being so when it comes to excursions on cruise ships a lot of times. The default is to go right through the cruise line itself. There's some peace of mind their cruise lines will tell you that they won't leave you behind if you're running late they You know they you can get some specials AH board maybe some onboard credit. That helps you pay for them. And then of course you can also get together with others in a group on crucial book on the cruise ship set of in advance. There are certainly some advantages to booking on a cruise ship. However we found that it's Also some there's also some disadvantages to that and one is price like I said if you have an onboard credit at negates the price factor. But it can be sometimes more costly to book a cruise line sponsored excursion. In addition you it can be really grouped together with a lot of people and I can tell you that the two times I've been cruise line sponsored excursions. It was a just a I would say train train wreck but it was pretty close to it compared to a non cruise line excursion when it just came to the size of the crowds. It was just crowded buses trout crowded transportation tation crowded excursion. It made it so not worth it to me. And maybe I'm the exception to the rule but I really Li- smaller groups. I like getting a little more personal attention when I'm I'm on excursions so here we go. We're going to talk about south. So just how many people get off these ships when it comes to these excursions and curse out actually it just before that just think about the number of cruise ships that dock incur sow in January twenty twenty alone. They're currently thirty four ships scheduled to dock walk in the port. It will said if that average ship has three hundred individuals ESA very conservative estimate. I would think that are going to get off the ship in Curacao S.. Nearly ten thousand people looking for something to do ten thousand people a month one hundred twenty thousand years probably clustered two hundred fifty thousand alson looking for something to do. I mean it's crazy. The number of ships that are going to Curacao and various other Caribbean islands. So so what do you do when it comes to getting excursions independent of the cruise lines. There's a lot you can do one. You can. Google different crews specially our crews excursion specialty companies. That offer are you can get directly to some of the companies so encourage sal whether you're an adventurer Ventura Har- are you're looking just to learn the history and culture of things you can do in Curacao to maybe save some money versus going through the cruise line and somebody's these. You can't even look unless you get directed drove. Our friends ever denied US marking Suzy. They ensure the best for you when you die with their crew with the die thus said and we've that's where we were certified and that's where we dive every time a good occurs South You know it's mentioned in the first paragraph on their website about cruisers your of Your cruiser. They're quote from their website is so you literally. Don't Miss Your boat even though you may want to we'll take you diving off to of curse house. Best shore dive sites. And that's sad. They're less than fifteen minutes away via taxi from the crucial terminal. And that's good for those looking to dive or snorkel so you go to our blog. The latest blogger you know or if you search for excursions of things to do in curse out on a cruise stop on our website. CANTON TRAVEL DOT com. You'll be able to see really quickly. some some links there. That'll help you out with this. One thing about this before I get too far into is if you're booking even if you're booking through the cruise ship or cruise line makes sure that you consider strongly consider must say trip insurance. We get insurance for everything even for my work travel. I purchase trip assurance even out of pocket because it's so important luggage is lost or left behind her. If I miss a connection or whatever it may be trip insurance can really protects. Data can be super important in any Caribbean island as safe as we say. Karasawa is in as great as it is. Things can happen often so consider trip insurance. You can see more. We have insurance log as well so a lot of blog talked today so Hamdan travel dot com slash logged logged. Put the link in the show notes as well as of course to die bus but yeah I mean you look at the die bus. There's a couple of different timeframes you can go scuba diving with them. I'm I'M GONNA wager. You'RE GONNA pay a fair price and is going to be fairer than what you might look through your cruise ship or cruise line rather and. I think that you're going to find a good time. And I don't believe that you're going to have trouble given taxi getting back and forth either. Because of course there's going to be traffic with hundreds of thousands of people off the cruise ships but curse has pretty easy to get around. So I wouldn't worry too much there if you're an adventurer at heart and this is kind of a mixed thing if you have if you have some into group that either snorkel some that like climb on cliffs etc like Erie Tubers and we also talk about that in the blog a blog again. There's a variety the tours and you can create your own excursion adventure depending on the size of your group And when I say depending on the size of your group this more to cost if you have ten people that want booking tours excursion in bright cost considerably less per person than if one person wanted a one on one experience with area tours they do away Nice eastside tour cruise passengers. That takes you on a drive over to Julie out of bridge and it shows the old historical monuments. And then you can go to the curse south liquor distilleries see how who curse our was created. And then you can go on a tour to some of the beaches and they do a couple of our stop for some sun and relaxation as well as one of in many tours they do you'd have to be saying curse out for ten twelve hours through some of the other tours that are already planned seven seven. Maybe even eight hours. Somebody's to so you want to be very careful with those and again that trip insurance very very important. Another shoutout to Eric's ATV tours. You WanNa go adventurous and take the ATV's around and see some great things. They do it at Raya Tours as well. That are really really nice again. The point here is you know. Don't don't subject yourself to just with the cruise lines are offering and don't buy into the fear factor that they're gonNA give you get left behind will leave you if you don't book with us are or if you book with us. We Guarantee A. B. The CD G. Well they're going to guarantee something that's GonNa be crowds and it might be even higher cost. Take the adventure. Even if you're not much of an adventure and you just want to guests in a cool beach at don't feel like you need the book to cruise line Another one this kinda random. That's not even on the blog. Son Scape resort really nice all inclusive resorts not the nicest in the world's worst in the world's pretty nice though in you can get passes there and you can call them and they sell them usually warning up but it will typically sell out from what I've seen of course it depends on the season. Lee Might WanNa take take a check with them and say hey yes unscathed you are do you think is going going to be day passes and they might say well. We don't know until the morning but yes we're checking. How so do it on your own you know? Don't look these things through the cruise line. If you don't have after you know it's a it's a great thing going back to the dive bus you know regardless of whether you're scuba dive instincts are not you know. Go for two snorkeling experiencing gopher experience experience of meeting mark and the team. They're amazing people on the blog. There's a picture of US having a drink after After it was called medicine vodka tasted as like cough medicine to. But you know it's it was the fun of the fun of having a drink with with great people with check them out. You know if you're looking at something to do on a on on on a cruise ship on a cruise ship excursion

Spoiler right up so much of what the novels about is about the mystery of this person. And we, we don't really find out 'til the end. So I think I'll leave that cloaked in mystery so that the readers can figure it out and find it. But this idea that the. The people who are so vivid in life remain vivid and death is something that I only have learned since raised up and that the vividness shows up in the steady drumbeat of their presence, and how everything reminds you of them and. There can be something very heartbreaking about that because it's like you're just seeing the world through Raya filter, if you're me, but there's also this tremendous comfort in, you know, one of the things that used to make me weep, and we when I imagined a world without Ray and one of my favorite things in the world to do was to walk into a room with Raya allies on my arm..

This another interesting thing, which is if you rate has character in many respects, but I have a theory about men and women who look a little too good in their underpants. A little too early and often. What's the theory? Well, if there is. What what what happened your theory with raise inching what happened with Ray is Ray would say I remember clear like we show up to take classes, you know, sign up for class. Do you have to sign up for all classes to get all your life? You don't sign up. You'll get all the classes. Yeah. Like, I would get right. And I think there's a long line because of course, ratio up late and write just like went right walked to the front of the line and went out of the way, get my classes going waiting in line, and Mr Smith, not the nice, Mr Smith the mean, Mr Smith was like a old Hoffer what you cut to the front of the line get to the back of the line. And Ray said I don't have back of the line. And we'll get any my classic. You know, get get back their old Hoffer and raises when I'm going to the beach. Don't wait in line now that work super festively for a lot of years. But then you get out into the business world and stuff like that really doesn't the all come on doesn't really it's not as effective. I would argue not affective not effect not effect now. But you're the messages. I'll I'm not getting in line. I just give to the frontline. And I'll just get someone to do this. You got it all the time early is affective ZipRecruiter hiring used Bihar, multiple jobs. I'd stacks resumes. But it's confusing but today higher.

"Series team in the machine learning team because they they poached that guy from google you john john raya and so he's going to be in charge now of both you gotta figure apples saying we don't want to be left in the dust here well i guess right now are they really are yeah the question of apple so that they wanna take stop sorry strong stance on privacy right and the question is do you need a store information about people in the cloud to have good ai and you know kind of kind of aggregate all that versus like you know google and facebook are obviously doing that and so far ahead but can apple catch up to them if they stay committed to privacy and not collecting your information that's the opportunity and apple's done something interesting with ios twelve because they do want to beef up siri but they don't want they do want to be known as the privacy company right so that seems like conflicting yeah but they say that they do it all on the phone right so like syria suggestions isn't you like ai tool and i o s twelve and it's supposed to be studying like what you do to make suggestions like hey maybe you should turn off the phone because you're having dinner right now or something like that like do you not disturbed right but can it really be that smart if they're just doing everything using data from your phone versus the cloud and a collective whole of like people's behaviors and patterns they've they've actually done a little sleight of hand because one of the things series suggestion require uses is what you're abs know about you so instead of apple knowing anything about you they palm it off on and they use this as a demonstration the pete's app right every time i drive by piece i stopped for a minute mahita remember they demonstrated that yeah so the pizza is paying attention to your location and what you buy and then signals apple this would be a good thing to do so apple in effect says to siri will we don't we're not collecting information but will let the apps on here i phone collect information and then we'll use those to make serious smarter i thought that was quite a clever little sleight of hand actually did you see oh sorry go ahead did you see that story from two weeks ago or maybe it was before the fourth about how they're in a rebuilding apple maps from the ground up and you know sorry they they admitted that they're going to use data from everybody's searching on maps on iphones and things like that and they go back and forth a thousand times on the articles i read about this saying no trust me it's anonymous we're using your data we're we're we're not going to know you know all this other stuff but the thing about getting a systems better and machine learning systems better is you need data it's recur sive so the more data you can feed these systems the better they get so it's sort of like and i know we could as a whole thing about the the cultural differences between different companies and things like that but you know google and facebook they have nothing but reams of data and so the engineers there to them it's just natural to use those things but it does the question will become when you have to do something and make a big system like apple maps better you have to use the data that's available to you i mean i'd rather apple bend over backwards to make sure that they're protecting privacy and things like that as opposed to just using it but i don't think apple if they're going to compete in a i you know like jessica's concern about you gotta use the data that that your user collecting our generates says and then this is really interesting because i think that they completely understand this challenge and what they told matthew pans arena from tech crunches will what we do is we don't take the beginning of your trip we don't take the end of your trip just take a non my stuff from the middle of your trip that could be anybody there's downsides to that though they don't know the entrance to.
