"For all right okay. We're war tennis shoes. World's strongest man to me. Those were like the best movies. Well he's got to be a child. Now how old's Russell in nineteen sixty nine is he is he like born in forty five something he plays like a teenager but he's probably twenty. I have no knowledge of this whatsoever. And you think these are actually good. Took my kid to the barefoot executive and she laughed all the way through and really kind of flabby but there are laughs in it and they're super interesting. Okay there you know there from this time though. The tension between the counterculture like the fifties. You see that playing out a little bit interesting. These Disney teen movies but anyway there in one of these elastic magazines. There was an interview with Russell and he was saying like. Oh Yeah. I can't wait to not do these movies anymore. House dynamite. What are you talking about like? What are you going to do this better than these movies? The thing I know wow okay I'm gonNA check some of these out I. This is yeah. This is unknown to me if you didn't see him as a Kid. I don't know I know but I like this air like we did. We did escape to which Moun- Allah pod and I really liked that movie as a Disney movie. It was so strange and of itself. It sounds like probably shares a little of the DNA of the stuff. You're talking about but once upon a time in Hollywood. It feels like these movies were made like on that lot there. You a once upon a time in Hollywood fan. The I like the mobile. How many times did you see it twice me to see? I would see the third time I would see it a third fourth and Fifth Time. I think Tarantino unfortunately says so much shit that you can never separate. What's true but I've been told. Oh we're going to re release it with like forty more additional minutes around and I don't know if that's ever really happening probably post Oscar's not but you know we're bad news. Bears was may or the park was chatsworth. Yeah spahn ranch was. Oh that's right. Yeah actually it's really nice looking part of Los Angeles. I wonder if that park still there. Have you gone to the location? No I would Everytime in La. I think like Oh. This is the time that I'm going to go to the bad news bears park and then I like look and it's ten miles away. It's a fifty minute drive and a four and a half hours to get there. I guess I won't be making that But I did read that. There's a park that is it was dedicated as bad news bears park. That's not in Chatsworth that it was a park where Bill Lancaster played little league. Oh but So if you're listening to this and you want to go to the real bad news bears park in Chatsworth. Oh so that's the real one the real ones but there's another one that's been dedicated agnew's bears park but it's it's where bad it's where Bill Lancaster plant. I can't think of anyone else who would have to writing credits. One of them is the bad news. Bears and the other is the thing that is just the thing. Yeah we did the missing. Yeah I wish bill. Lancaster was still alive to talk about these movies. In the making of this. Where there isn't like you know. Well it's because it comedy like. This isn't taken seriously enough to have that stuff. Usually I mean yeah. I don't know this one absolutely deserves it. I think Stanley Jaffe is still alive. Obviously math I was in most of the kids are alive right so you could. You could certainly hear some interesting things about the making of but you know maybe some things should be a little more pure being to your dynamite story Bernie like. Maybe we don't WanNa know it's true. You know what I mean. Maybe you don't WanNa know. Sort of what went down. Let's move onto your latchkey TV selections. These are fantastic. By the way you're the only guest Bernie who has submitted a page of latchkey. Tv suggestions which includes that you did. Your own links arrived part of the assignment. No I usually just people tell me like three or four shows and then I go and look. You did everything for me. Which is incredible. So thank you for this. Of course being the TV producer that you are. This is the way you did this. That's what I that's what I love I was like. Oh yeah should have more. Tv producers on the pod baton. They do most of the work. This is Ray Rayner and friends.

"Bows gar and raise special beyond tomorrow night Christmas Eve at ten PM hard rock cocoa when Joe was featured Susie snow flake dressed enters the white gown frosty the snowman in the course of the story Bozo's circus ray Rayner in Garfield goose in my friends so and ray WGN TV classics receive a ten o'clock right before midnight mass on WGN it's five twenty talk and would you like cell phones on airplanes they say that it could be coming coming if there is demand for it Karen were you calling in from tonight what if I just stay home home is okay because I happen to be in trouble Karen is a in a secret location I think you are opening a can of worms if you want people to be talking on the phone first of all I think they did that they asked that same question several years ago and I think the majority of people said now because they didn't and my thought is is soon as you mentioned you thought it would be a good idea it's better than somebody taking off their shoes and rubbing their feet on the floor or whatever yes I think the more comfortable people are playing the board it's going to happen you're gonna have people doing you now that they're comfortable it's like they're sitting in their own living rooms if they're on their phone close as of the close will start peeling off or you don't I don't know picking their ears here is I came into arm when there is someone in the so the last time I did this was just a couple weeks ago immigrant house office the whole room was filled with a bunch of people everybody was quiet there reading they were texting they're doing whatever and one gentlemen takes a phone call and talking and just talking about his business and bottled right this that and the other thing and then it cuts to the point where everybody is like looking at him like take call out in Hong something but it I started timing and like what if she would ask the question to the other person on the phone so you would start as I get that I don't have warned grocery stores or even if they're talking about you know what to feed the little kid for dinner you know should I get Peter said I get out you know right healthy I'll say well I I think you should be in people look at me like I'm not but a lot of times like in that again it's hard to stop us they will they were laughing and you know he finally took it outside so I think it you know if I'm sitting next to me that's talking and then on the on the plane you can be sure I'm chiming in with my thought what's the difference between what's the difference between somebody talking on the phone though or talking to a person sitting next to them I would rather have somebody talking to me you would you would rather the person talk directly to you you mean when it be more fun to have a conversation with something new sounds like you don't really wait for someone to talk to you sounds like you get a Hey you know but I mean my my point is I I hear what you're saying the the you know somebody's on the phone in there talking but what's the difference between them talking to someone on the phone and talking to somebody who you are you or anyone else what's the difference the voices are still generating sound you're right but you also said that people talk louder when they're on their cell phones that's true and like I said it specially they're going to be on the phone for more than ten minutes and you get an idea that they're talking to their girlfriend their grandma or whoever they're talking to I am able to chime in with either finance or answers any either laughed along with me I love what I yeah I can imagine you know especially for a couple I'd rather talk to the person that's me and meet some of you know I think this caller is Karen happy holidays to merry Christmas thank you thank you bye bye hi Bruce here on WGN good evening dean how're you as well thank you to our song my employer we have the IP phones at work like most companies hero and all I had to travel down to Mexico a few weeks ago before I I laughed I get call forwarding on my work phone and so I got on the plane and were flying about thirty five thousand feet and I I it decided to talk for a wife I calling on the plane I'm sorry Y. finally you know internet right and I got a call home like I always do almost sort of I get a phone call from a person work I was totally dumbfounded I've never I've never seen that as much as I mean planes I've never I don't think I've ever seen anyone get a call I couldn't believe it but I see your point I think as long as people are respectful now I I I think it's a great yeah I think yeah I think it's tone of voice you know if if I was talking to you on the phone in on the plane I'm gonna talk more like this you can hear me Hey you know you you would be able to hear me on your phone and there's a there's no need to say Hey guess what I went and got a a boil lanced today you know it is that you know you don't have to I was just talking to my my friend about it the other day because he talks a lot in his in his in his truck and it's funny with like the the prevalence of air on such a thing now and not something I specifically talking about you you talk in such a normal voice when you have something like earpods or injury equivalent sonnets it's a big difference yeah big difference merry Christmas to you Bruce thank you they say that some of the the text lines here's the eight four seven area code dean are you nuts I think that's a whole different issue but be that as it may do you know are you nuts have you ever been in public listening to someone on the phone talking about extremely personal issues imagine that on a four hour flight to LA here is another one also from the eight four seven area code dean what is wrong with you I am very popular the eight four seven area code tonight people are ignorant they will make calls they will be allowed get over the barefoot thing they're the same people that'll be hollering into their phones I'm sorry I will never get over the bare foot thing there is nothing the grosses me out more than someone takes their shoes and socks off and then they kind of crossed her legs so their foot is practically in your face I'm sorry I will never get over that here is another eight four seven area code dean all in all caps no no cell phone service on planes people are allowed in horrible talking take place on the airplanes I don't wanna listen to it you can't get away with rude talkers you can't get away from rude talkers when you're on the plane Andy how about you what do you think about all this yes Sir yeah well you you know what I would you know people you know also used in business and personal or whatever what is the volume of people talk in the balls it's really annoying in any public place including an airplane yeah I next really all I have a cell was you know as US then we will use for personal to keep the volume down yeah like you said and he said well all in all so yeah that's perfectly fine you know in in that sense you know you know I'll go back to my comparison what's the difference between talking to somebody on the phone and talking to somebody who is sitting next to you again you're gonna use a polite tone of voice with the person is sitting next to you it you know if you're not shouting I I don't have a problem with it it it doesn't bother me you're talking no genuine sold for some reason he got out of cell phone it's also and state right exactly merry Christmas TNT thank you for the call I appreciate it we're going to update news and coming up we're gonna talk with Oscar winning director Sam Mendes about what I think may be the best movie of the year this World War one drama nineteen seventeen we'll talk about that coming up next black.

"That's Bridget gainers Dame all right you know what's going to happen right after the thanksgiving day parade the David just talking about what the annual airing of Bozo gar and ray WGN TV classics that's fine looking back at the some of the most popular children's TV shows in Chicago what time would you estimate that wall there so I don't miss it it's Bozo's circus it's ray Rayner it's Garfield goose what did you do show every five years old it's like twelve or thirteen years old yeah okay winning kills in the ratings every year or so that people love it right after the parade at eleven o'clock on thanksgiving eleven o'clock on thanksgiving what's it called again both so governed ray WGN TV classics and much like member Dave the VH one behind the music thing my favorite part about those guard rails of the music changes and dean goes when we come back both so the alcoholic years never remember that all right now are for we do have some good footage we've never put on the air of all veterans cigarettes falling out of one of the clients because overbridge again here's a problem and I encourage you to talk about it so she could bear it yes she's not the only one that feels this way we know the truth she knows the truth but you are and you don't feel good about saying this but you're creeped out by who account by Mister Rogers serum people I'm with you I am not the only one who thinks this and I'm just gonna say what creep you out about him exactly I don't know the soft talking the slow movements the cardigan sweater the changing of the shoes so everything that like a lot of it a lot of agriculture to watch the documentary because I think that is what leads a lot no changes over but you're not the only one I hear this from people all the time but this new movie a beautiful day in the neighborhood that opens today isn't enough to melt Bridget's frozen heart it might be because it's not it's the the primary characters in this movie is not Mister Rogers it's about this grisly magazine writer very cynical guy who is assigned to go interview Mister Rogers he reluctantly goes and does it in his life is changed by the gentleness and generosity and kindness yeah so it's like a bromance that Mister Rogers represents yes eight months it completely changes this guy's life and it's you know a beautiful it's a true story number one but it's beautiful story Tom Hanks does an amazing job he's gonna get is six the Oscar nomination for this no question about it but it's just a lovely and it it it hits all the touchstones if you are a Mister Rogers fan it hits all the touchstones it's extremely nostalgic but it's just a beautiful story about being kind to people being generous being understanding blah blah blah it's the holidays do we need to start talking about this already you know here's the thing I want yeah I agree I'm kidding two down much kindness in this world alright these impeachment hearings on nothing but kind each other at that at that doubt I I'm with you people are what what do you given the must read as well dean's list today hi is against and I wrote the review when I was mad at Tom Hanks by the way yes I did but he gave me a given my Mister Rogers kind of I was right okay tell by Tom Hanks me old god both numbers yeah you're mad and will be after you see this movie you're mad at him why dean meep because he they said that he would talk to us on the red carpet at his premier and he he didn't rose merry to agree so he was probably like I've had enough a can of today I am a candidate for some I mean it could have been like no readings on the carpet with them and they were laughing and they tell a couple of passengers around but you know what get compared to Kevin Hart and the rock who I talked to yesterday the you know they they pull up in their cars words in a standing around outside waiting for them Kevin gets out of the car comes right to me give me a bagel hug rock scene thing the just you know likes to really sweet nice guys the I don't wanna get back my time I've decided that I need to I need to exercise the things that Mister Rogers taught us the kind and understanding Tom Hanks most of it is reasons okay neighbor I'm glad you're moving on that's good I am I am I'm try anyway dean so stay for beautiful day today bread textures says dean the Mister Rogers movie any car chases or gun fights install on her or not I'm sorry I'm sorry the train that goes around the village critical mass you do you do get the trolley your guess what the trolleys out of control because the brakes don't work yeah there's one particularly really sexy scene with me yeah Kitty either okay I just need to tell you that getting text from my mom as I often do when I'm on the show she's like by the way the New York Times had a fabulous article that said Tom Hanks is very nice FYI well I remember you guys had your moment where you remember when he was a very nice it's all different time you know you need to send a letter to the editor of the newspaper to say like FYI well there were there were plenty of there were like thirty other journalists who came from all over the country to talk to or told time makes for talk to you who did not talk to done right so there are plenty of people who feel the same way I can be on a one to have the guts to torpedo your own career and I'm the only one who is turn the other cheek yes Sir Roger style I was twenty one bridges to Rogers it's a cop cop movie it's stars Chadwick Boseman who is of the star of Black Panther here's twenty one bridges in New York well the you know the oddly this is set in New York City what what a coincidence that is he's in New York City cop a he's thrown into a hunt for a some cop killers but then a legion sales begin to get called into question who are really the bad guys in this movie Chadwick Boseman is a really good actor and I'm glad we get to see him do something besides Marvel superhero movies because I think he's a fantastic young actor of this a story that was a little bit predictable at definitely has some holes in the plot line but it's okay I gave it dean's list see plus favorite thanksgiving food definitely stuff and stuff and you know the history of something I do not I have a history of stuffing you know you people think there's no preparation of all the the show with seven would've been a familiar concept of those early settlers their version likely quite different we know the first Plymouth columnist didn't have access to white flour butter so traditional bread stuffing would have been possible yet they may have used chestnuts herbs chunks of onion flavor the birds and I'm sure some cooks probably through little gravel in there they there was a very popular yeah maybe as your early chick fillet as many of the sandwiches had gravel and yeah bonus Jeff let's but do you get away in a green bean casserole where do you stand I've I eat I do like a good green bean casserole and don't try to do it fancy on me I want the cricket camp cream of mushroom soup yes No look because I've seen chefs on TV making their gravy from scratch and do you know their breezing the beings first you take the frozen green beans you take the Campbell's cream of mushroom soup you break it up and then you put the can French fried onions on top of it Zachary call of the day and it's delicious on not really my favorite thing for thanksgiving day after you make a sandwich with some Turkey yes stuffing some cranberry sauce and you could even put some of their green beans with the crunchy on it was like dirty talk with you too it's that's the best thing about hosting thanksgiving is that there is a delay SO one Evans of people leave your house and they want to take leftovers you tell more out sorry we rather like that you know what's nor got those yes she did everything I'm sorry should have ate a little less is there any is Nora at their house of North Texas although that Nora flooding either I but I will say one thing speaking of Nora so the parade is there's a by Friday she is actually the master of ceremonies at putting in the reviews on the lines at the Art Institute seven ten AM Friday for some it kick it off she's resend the lions and we'll be doing that so if you want to if you want more gainer girl you can just show up there Friday so nor is going to be there nor is going to be at the reef sunlight are you there deep definitely give her some give her some grief for a take well I will but I was also gonna say if he is there please talk to on the red carpet because otherwise they'll be so difficult I don't hold a grudge right yeah me you'll be with me next week yeah I have one have a great weekend I read but I they go that's dean Richards were coming back with your news in just a moment seven twenty WGN pregame at six thirty I'm John Wiedeman and I will have the puck drop.

"Requesting some Elvis Santa Claus is back in town to for Tuesday. Here. That's a that was a the Elvis Christmas album sort of classic Elvis Christmas album was one that was played a lot. When I was a kid in the house that one in Johnny Mathis. Those were the two those were the two that got played the most during Christmas time the ones that we would play over and over and over again when I was a kid. So I love the Elvis Christmas album. It's great. The king. Welcome back everybody Nick to Gilio here. Three one two nine eight one seven two hundred is the phone number. If you would like to join us for talk or text, we were talking about the things that everybody in Illinois should should try and eat at least once a one time and coming up at five o'clock Steve Grzanich with the opening bell. And coming up next is the stories that matter with Vic Vaughn from the northwestern medicine newsroom on WGN radio. Right. So. Airborne, dan. Yeah. Does is Christmas candy thing in your it is becoming one because Emily is experiencing. Our first advent calendar. Her anti Kathy gave her one, and it's decked out with Disney princesses, and it's very hard for a child to a three year old child to understand that you only one piece every day. Right. So that's that's what I used to love. When I was a kid. I loved those calendars. I love the advent calendars I loved him. I remember. The great Ray Rayner used to used to have add mcalinden on his show, and he would open. He would open one every day. He would open a little window every day. I always thought it was cool. I was I thought those were great. Now did they stop at Christmas? Or do they go all the way through December thirty first I think they stop at Christmas or any of the stop at Christmas. Yeah. So that's another thing. I grew up listening to Elvis opened up an advent calendar. So what did they start December? I yes that was the other problem because Gavin gave it to her on couple of days before thanksgiving. So that was like so you're NASA's open as yet. Oh, no. Does. She look forward to it like every day to get excited. Yes. Yeah. So she has chocolate in the morning. She's so excited. I'm going to make it to the day. That's for sure. Does she get that little little sugar buzz going early in the morning boy? Well, that's fun. That's cool. You know, I don't know. Christmas candy was not a huge thing. For me. Like, you know, I mean, obviously, you know, post Halloween Halloween. Halloween, candy and Halloween and Easter are the two are the two candy holidays. For sure. But I know a lot of people do have candy for Christmas. Just never been. We've never really a thing in my in my family. Here and there every once in a while. But nothing nothing like Halloween and nothing like. Easter those were the obvious, obviously, those are the big the big candy heavy days holidays..

"Lewer children's shows in the history of Chicago television, Bozo's circus, Garfield goose and friends and Ray Rayner and friends and we've air this special that we put together back in two thousand and five every year. It's been that long. Yeah. That long every year people. Go nuts when they see it brings back a million memories. Sure. With some great footage of all the shows that you grew up with it'll bring back a million memories of your childhoods. That's gonna be thanksgiving morning. We run at once at thanksgiving and once a Christmas but thanksgiving morning at eleven o'clock right after the uncle Dan's Thanksgiving Day parade. Bozo. Garen Ray will be on. So that's from eleven to one and everyone has been asking. When are you going to bring back a family classics, the WGN movie series that ran while we were all kids, and we've got a quite a few of them between now and the end of the year on thanksgiving evening at six thirty uncle dean brings you your family classics and Tom Hanks in big that's going to be so much fun to watch that movie. I love that. So you will be doing the hosting of family. Classic Tom Hanks in big I am. Mm hosting. It's a great movie. That's a good family. Classic right. Yes. As I said, I I would like to do this. But I don't want to run Malibu's most wanted her, you know, movies like that. I want a good family movies, and they don't get much better than Tom Hanks, the French connection with that would be a Manson family classics. So Tom Hanks in big is going to be thanksgiving evening at six thirty so tune in for a couple of blasts of real nostalgia WGN's family classics was left of the original set that Frazier Thomas and ROY Leonard used to us. I really don't care. I shouldn't say that. But I'm a democrat. So I can get away with saying unbelievable voter early vote often, but there's no voter fraud. It's the Democrats who keep telling me there's never any boater fraud. Please. What is the president delusional? You know, people from the center for immigration studies delusional the people from fair delusional. Yeah. Of course, of course, they are all delusional. Anyway, it's Thursday and a a special congratulations to Karen and the crew here who put together in literally twenty four hours the panel regarding the whole metoo movement, not an easy thing to do. But that's what news organizations always used to do. It's just they stopped doing that. And they became repetitive. Parrots of one another. Doing the same exact program. That's being done everywhere else is not very creative, nor is it very informative for the listeners of the viewers. So you know, I applaud whenever we're able to step out of that little box and do something on the spur of the moment. That has great import. It's a big story. You know, it's a big story that I'm sick to death of. So I kinda like enjoyed having that wrap up feeling to the panel this morning gave me an opportunity here. A couple of different aspects things that I had considered things that I hadn't considered. And now, I'm ready to move on. Now when I say that. We're gonna talk about this because it's relevant. Michelle Malkin will probably be on with me today, we have to try and reschedule her, but she wrote an incredible piece that I shared with you yesterday about when did we stop allowing the accused to get through process. You know, it's outrageous to believe that only accusers have rights. Everybody has rights the accused have rights, and it is insane to dispose know to expect them to fall on their swords and allow charges to go on answered especially charges like this where you do not have an opportunity. To clear your name on a charge. That's thirty six years old and dare I say it flimsy at best. Yeah. So that that's that's an important aspect. We're gonna talk about that. I think people should be believed until proven otherwise. But I also think people should be able to prove what they're saying that they can't just go around and accused people if things that there's no way of proving or disproving because it is, you know, it's just it's just not fair, you know. So we'll see we'll we'll talk a little bit about that will be in and out of that subject. But I'm much more concerned with a couple of things that happened to me in the last twenty four hours. That have disturbed me very much. Many of you know, I have a guest frequently. I used to have a lot more frequently, but I talk to him still and have him on when appropriate and and he's in Washington DC insider, he is an African-American Republican which in and of itself is a rarity named brainer. Jackson, and I received a message from Reynard yesterday to call him that he was in the state. So when I finally got around after my program to call him. I was surprised that he is in my state because he was summoned by some Republican candidates to come down and advise them. So you know, I I laughed and told Ray Rayner that it might be too late for his advice. And that, you know, I'm really sick and tired of people from Washington being brought in to advise candidates in the state of Florida who knows? Nothing about Florida politics and how they work, and that's not to insult Reynard. Or any of the consultants that people bring in who are, you know, full of brilliant ideas and things that might work in Cleveland might work in DC and might work in New York and might work in California, but won't work in Florida. Florida's a unique state with a unique population. There are some things that we just have to accept and there are some battles. We cannot fight and win, but we don't have to buckle on every battle. And so, you know, I told him he he wanted to know what my feelings were about Ron zanthosyn. The governor's race Rick Scott in the Senate race. And I was as honest with him as I am with you guys. You know, I am very distressed over the governor's race. I am. Somewhat distressed over the Senate race less though less than I am over the gubernatorial race. And with good reason. I mean, you know, I am a person who has had a pivotal issue for decades now, and it didn't matter where I was on the political spectrum left or right? The issue is the same for me. And that is that America has a right to its borders. The borders must be preserved because that's what makes us a country nation. And when I get candidates who agree with that position. I'm always overjoyed, which is why I was able to participate in the presidential election with enthusiasm for the first time in all these many years and actually was willing to go to bat for the candidate. Who was you know, flawed in many ways because I believed that it was hopeful for an issue that I think has to do with every other issue immigration immigration affects education immigration affects healthcare immigration affects the economy, immigration affects law and law and order. So for me, it's a it's a major fundamental issue that had to be addressed addressed. And I thought that the census was on the same page as me, particularly because he said so and then he selected as his Lieutenant governor someone who is the answer. The opposite to me on the issue. So I have to wrestle with that. And as I said, I had another I had a person who I respect the person who I care about a person who was again, tragically affected by the Marjory stoneman Douglas shootings and approach me this morning and said, you know, are you going to put a Ron? And I had to tell them not today today. But I mean what's up, and I proceeded to say, look, you know, I'm I'm furious right now. And it's not a good time. Don't ask that question right now. Let me come down a little bit and sofa, and let me tell you something. I'm looking at these poll numbers, and they're not going in Ron's favor. You know, they're moving and they're not moving in his favor. And you know, look, I am not an arrogant person, but they are not moving in his favor for precisely the reasons on furious. The biggest stories.

"Two it's sixty six right now at O'hare, midway sixty nine each Chicago, seventy and at the lakefront is sixty eight degrees. I'm Steve Bertrand in the WGN radio newsroom, and this is the. Stuff that matters on Chicago's very own seven twenty WGN. Steve your time for a quick question. Absolutely. We've got Mike Toomey coming up. He'll be with you in just a second. I'm just curious. There's a story in the news that I would love to get your opinion on there's this op Ed piece in the New York Times, which kind of dismantles the White House. I rotate you did you right? Question salves. They all right this morning. There was a statement issued from the vice president's office saying that he is not the one who wrote this piece was was that was that a highly held belief. Highly held Mike Pompeo's come out with a statement saying he didn't write it. And I did see reference to there was some of the language was language that the vice president is used as well. But this is like when you're in third grade and you're writing note, right? Don't want people, right and left hand, cursive. So they don't figure out that Millar. Yeah. I don't think if the vice president wrote it he'd be using terms that are particular to his vocabulary. You know, maybe someone wanted them to think it was the vice president. Oh, interesting. I don't know. Will we ever find out? Do you think? Probably. I mean, there's not much kept secret in Washington Lynn the last couple of years. So maybe we will. Yeah. Will this person be considered to be like a modern day? You know, how deep throat was to the Watergate investigation with Woodward Bernstein is this person are generations deep throat. Well, we'll have to see what happens because you know, you could argue that this person should be if if this is happening should be speaking up on the record to try to make it stop happening. Rather than writing something anonymously? Of course, you could argue that if they all quit. Things would be worse. So I don't know. Will it will be interesting to see if this is something that triggers something further, but you know, we've been through so many of these in the next trigger doesn't really leave? You know, there's not been a snowball effect. It's it's been a series of shots and fires and things like that. But there's nothing is really accumulated to cause any sort of movement in Washington. So I don't I don't know that this will be any different. We'll see there are people who think it certainly will be that. It's the beginning of some sort of major shift there is it safe to assume that this is the sort of thing that would drive the president out of his mind crazy. The reporting was that he had pretty much. He was volcanic. I think was the word. I heard for about thirty minutes yesterday. Well, we we'll have like stress at our houses and sometimes dysfunctional families. This has gotta suck waking up and being that stressed out every day. Yeah. A lot of us are waking up being stressed out. Wendy, do you have it. This is just turmoil. The constant turmoil. Let me turn that turmoil around for you, Wendy. Mr. fund Mike to me on the line. I will ask you the same question. Do you believe that like pants had anything to do with this letter? Talking. I got it on dean's. He's refusing to talk situation. Hold on. We'll press I heard something in the background Jasmina press some buttons. Now, she'll get someone to press some buttons spent. Yep. To me. Yeah. Would you mind? Not ready yet. I'm getting close. Are you getting close? Pretty good about it. All right. All right. They are working behind the scenes feverishly to get Mike who is working working behind the scenes, I through in the feverishly Mike is at WGN at the TV station on Bradley place, and we're making a connection now. So we're hoping our best. What does Mike have coming up? Showed appearance with it says here appearance with Bill and Wendy Thursday morning there, isn't that tentative? I put a question, Mark. I'm actually, you know, what I'm gonna do is just try quick line through that one. And then. Yeah. Zanies in Rosemont tonight at eight o'clock tomorrow eight and ten thirty. And that's it. All right. We're still working. All right. We're still looking at. We'll have plenty of time. Get it pretty soon. And then we're on the stream from noon till one. So we'll figure it out. What before before one o'clock, Wendy, Mike Toomey of the WGN? TV morning news will probably be a guest at our show. I'm not gonna guarantee anything a lot of buttons to be pressed knobs to be moved. There's also a lever involved. I don't know what it does, Mikey. Can you hear me? Like, you say that's me doing my. Line. Orient oriented. Oh. I believe for a minute. Our hearts are hogs. Good eighth though. Lean hogs are good question. Oh, why do you want a lean hog? I never understood that either. They they look weird. Lean maybe oriented works out it might. Well. Maybe it does. Maybe it spent some time in the gym wouldn't kill us to spend a little time in the gym. Mike. How are you? It is. I wanted to do that thing where he keeps trying to get the other call you're still talking to the person. Hello. Right. Shut up. Day and age where technology is supreme can't we figure that out? What's wrong with this doesn't make sense? How are things with you? Mike. How're things at the WGN. TV morning news. Everything is great here. I just had lunch with the ghost of cliff Mercer. Oh, you did that goes. It was great. He's a delight. What does it goes to get it just very lightly lean pork? White's report. There was a time where you guys right there in that building at Bradley had an incredible cafeteria. And that's sadly, no longer the case right now. It's just kind of a holding area, sit and hang out. But it was fantastic. We you there as a kid. Did you go on Bozo's circus ever as a kid never got to rub this and people's faces Mike because twice I found out? We're going next week. Oh, your tickets. Congrats actually is actually happening. Mike didn't people? I know we kid about this. But wasn't there a time in Chicago? Where if a if a couple found out that they were going to have a child they would put in an order for Boza tickets knowing it was going to take seven or eight years, right? No. That's exactly right. Because the studio like when you come here, and you look in there. It's way smaller than you imagined it as a kid like you saw it on TV. It literally looked like a three ring. Search. Did you come in here? Now, you're like, wow. How do they fit all those people in there? Do you know why I think Mike it's because ringmaster Ned would say at the beginning of every broadcast a cast of thousands. And we believed them lying to us. Keep looked like it though. You know, what else clowns you can fit a lot of clouds. As we've learned. You feel like our parents didn't love us as much as bills parents left him because I never went. I never went to either. And I know that they didn't I was at bill's house went a couple of times his parents, loved and way more. We went every week. A week never went by when he would we didn't sit through two or three Bozo's circus tapings bottom stuff. We'll see. They would just automatically by it. It's not right now kids in our school. If you were kid that was going to Bozo's circus, the classes would stop and we would watch that kid on TV from noon till one o'clock. What does that teach you? I don't think it taught us anything. It taught us plan ahead and get bozo. Tickets. You know, but but then like you if you were kid, and you showed up on TV you were then famous for the rest of your school career unless you called in sick that day. I guess so. Yeah. He was sick. And he's he's enjoying boats of circus. He's playing the relay race ruler. Whatever he wouldn't it be caller for who. Who was other than bozo? Who do you think was the best clown on Bozo's circus? I was an olive oil Oliver guy. Yeah. Ray Rayner all around Ray. I mean, what what multi talented, dude. I liked cookie got to tell you. What is it about cookie? Wendy. He just was loose. No, you're right. You're right. Yeah. Tight. He just looked like it'd be a lot of fun. And it turns out he was a lot of fun. Don't you think though, if your name is either cookie or Oliver, oh Oliver you almost have to go into clowning? There's very few jobs that would do well at CPA need Oliver. Interview. This is obviously years and years ago with cookie it wasn't right Brown. Was cookie cookie was explaining how he got into the business as a puppeteer. Yeah. Okay. So in other words, the puppets are obviously fake. He's identifying them as puppets. Cookies. Sure, of course. Before. But you're not you're you're cloud. Yeah. Yeah. I found it fun. Do you? Remember the moment when you realized that cookie and the dog on Ray Rayner are the same. Cuddly dudley. He and cookie. That's one of the say, I didn't know that until just now is that true. Roy Brown's first reading yeah regime. Yeah. I was jealous of our coveted. My neighbors cuddly Dudley. Oh, they had one of the big came in the cardboard doghouse. Yeah. That's a clear with it. Or did they keep it? They kept it in the house. They'll see that was probably still standing because like everybody else took it out of the house and played with it. And now it's somewhere with its neck. And there's like stuff coming out, right? I got a postcard from Garfield goose. So that's exciting. Yeah. Milan. Quotes. And then the part that's written by mama is just clapping sound that part of the postcard. I'm proud of that. I don't know where that is. I gotta locate there. I don't know. I don't know. Mike Timmy's here. He'll be performing at zanies in Rosemont tonight and tomorrow, that's it. Mike, right. Just tonight one show tomorrow to shows that's all tomorrow one tonight. So lucky to have you for that? If you ask me so happy to be there. All right. So we'll continue this discussion next. If you want to jump in three hundred nine hundred seventy two hundred twenty WGN time check in with the business world..

"That's the calling of the text line somebody at eight one five says, I'm a local trucker, and I believe that when it rains people lose IQ points possible. A couple of different texters who have stick shifts say that sometimes you have to leave more space. If you have a stick shift. So they're not doing it on purpose. Do you buy that? Or not. I had a stick shift. That was the first car I bought not really know how to drive it that. Well. Little space, but you don't need to leave like three card links for stick shift a think right now just my theory that people continuously need to check their phones for tax for information for sports scores for whatever. So if there's a down second if they're at a traffic situation, they feel I have enough time to check my phone. But then when traffic gets moving again if everybody's doing that it's going to take five ten fifteen or twenty extra seconds to get the ball rolling. Yeah. So that plays into it a little bit. I want this is eight four seven I once saw blocker pickup truck held back for half a mile. It turned out that that truck that he was blocking was going to help a disabled car. That's that's my fear and doing the blocking move is that it could really be something important. Well, you eventually move and stuff. It's not like, you're it's gonna be a mile delay. Right. But this morning after seeing a dozen or so cars take advantage of everybody. That was playing by the rules and waiting in line. I went well somebody has to start blocking these cars. I know I have a car. I'll do it. I use the Stevenson on the way home. I don't do it on the way in because I have side streets to get me in sooner and the buses are allowed to go on the left shoulder on the outbound Stevenson, and when it's backed up which now just so, you know, rush hour starts at one thirty right. It used to be four thirty then to thirty. Now. It's one day and these cars go. Oh in the bus lane. And I swear to God if there's a state trooper listening just camp out on the Stevenson and wait for it. Because it happens every day. Yeah. I mean, it's a bus lane. I know everybody starts using that lane. Then then why then nothing? Yes. It'll be anarchy. What happened to your friend? Michael kopech last night Bill. I don't know. I swear to God. It's the whole Samson thing. I told you he trimmed his hair, then he cut his hair. He had an okay game a few nights ago with the hair, but he's like, the rain dancer every time, you know, last night. We're looking my son Michael had a gay get the barrel house in LaGrange and all the TV's were on. I guess there were some with the cubs game. But we're watching the sax game. Then the signal went bad. And you know, we say, oh, yeah. Of course. It's raining kopecks. Right, right. It's like he is the rain dancer every time he pitches every day, and that's getting into his head. With this haircut ready shouldn't have gotten he should wear. Do you? Remember, the Bracha rela do you know what that is ES? I do. But I don't remember. Specifically what it was Lou Brock? I doubt that Lou Brock invented this. But somehow he led his name to it. Ray Rayner had a Bracha Brel. You're right, Steve. You're absolutely right. Just the hat umbrella. It's a hat that is also an umbrella. It had it look you should get one. I must are wearing one. The Bill of Bella the Bill of the sound of the different cartoon characters each of the sides. I bet you twenty dollars people would buy. Yeah. I'd make a million. Well, I'd make twenty bucks probably off the Bill umbrella. But I don't know do you remember Steve did Lou Brock invented? Or was he just used as an endorser? Why why remember the answer? I just can see Ray Rayner wearing it in calling it the Broncos Birla. Yeah. Yeah. In other baseball news, really quick. They already talked about this Todd Frazier. This is just a quick story that I find fascinating the other night goes into the crowd to make a catch. He shows the ball to the empire. And then he just admitted last night that the ball that he showed him was not the ball that was head. He just found a bought like as he went into the crowd. Some kid had like a rubber coated ball, and he picked it up, and he put it in his glove, and he showed him that one. And they called him out. They called the guy out. So does he are we proud of our former White Sox friend? Todd Frazier for being inventive and going. I have to do a macgyver. What's around me that looks like a baseball. Oh, there's a rubber coated I'll use this. Or is that just out no cheating? That's cheating cheating on a Tom Brady. Sort of. Yeah. But sometimes when it becomes this sort of rascal e it's more, right? Right. It's not easy. I vanish naughty. It is it is. I give him cry. I mean, what are the odds that undoing this the exact object? He would need. I mean, it wasn't a major league baseball. But it was a rubric every shaped like a baseball look to the naked eye to the emperor's. I looked like a baseball. How do you get it so quickly like honestly, did you have you seen the play? Oh, I'll look in a in a in a tenth of a second. I mean, really it couldn't have been placed more perfectly for him. So I'm stuck on this one. I like I like a guy who plays by the rules. But by the same token, I like a guy who's inventive. And goes, this should let's see if this'll work did that change the outcome of the game. I don't think it changed the outcome of the game. I don't think so because I think they should redo the whole game the game should be played over. It's not fair. I'm I'm so stuck on that one. When I first saw it. I would how did he catch that ball Pepo wasn't even nearest glove? It's in his glove. How great is that? It turns out. It wasn't great. It was just him being invented I-. Macgyver did something yesterday. I'll just have everyone. Now, the stupid toilet would not the chain came disconnected from the little plunger thing flush the toilet. And I couldn't sell the jets. I used a paper clip. I'm a guy. Start a plumbing business genius. Well, I would sell my house if that happened. You just fixed it yourself. I I have admitted in the past that I save like old wires and things because you never know when you're going to need them, right? And oddly enough, something plain and simple, like a paper clip. I couldn't find I finally found one at the bottom of the junk drawer of the day. I did I'm a guy Edward something. Here's what's coming up on today's show, boys and girls. Mike Toomey will join us. Right. After the news about ten thirty five, you know, Mike from the WGN TV morning news. He's also if not Chicago's premier standup comic, you certainly among them. He'll be out at ten thirty five at eleven thirty five Patrick McDonald beyond to talk about what new movies are coming up this weekend should be a pretty good show. So stick around. It's Bill and Wendy on WGN deep throat in the deep state and someone's in deep. She Jennifer garner goes all.

"STAN weather was you know working as a broadcaster as a hockey player you, know being at any golf event. And me if there was, a golf event in the city of Chicago Keno probably, you know probably in in in in the middle sixties. To you know to the late eighties early. Nineties STAN Makita was there A kidney was area event for every charity. Mentioned, and how how how instrumental he's been with the Blackhawk alumni association over the years the, golf. Tournament is, actually you know in honor of standard, it has, been for many many years but you know, look I, think anytime you around I I remember the first encounter that I've ever had with STAN McKay was in the late seventies, at y'all Chicago Stadium again watching the games on, TV and, going into games and, Nolan who, STAN was was just To, Tacoma cost, him, like I, did believe, it, or, not in a men's room at the old Chicago Stadium were out you know just like oh, my, gosh it's Dan Akita like, just, like it was like the greatest thing in the world you. Know just the next to somebody that you look up to and always wanted to you. Know to, be like to to where that Blackhawks sweater and, I was, lucky enough to do that for you know five years on my sixteen years in the, league but, nice I it just you know he he he did so much, off the, ice in this community and lucky you came over from Czechoslovakia Canada and then found this later, Chicago this was his home like he became entrenched in a community, he became a part of, the fabric, in our community and. A lot of different ways, and again, when the Blackhawks, brought, him back as an ambassador you, know rocky rocky Wirtz down McDonough and Jay Blunk when they bought back Bobby and stand it just it it it. Reconnected, the past because there was such an empty versus you know there is such an MP For such, a long period of time and this has nothing, to do, with winning and losing it really did it like, this to, reconnect, the grades, from the, past, to, to to the new fans into the new players in the current players that that are here, now, but it was just a, great, move to have them around and have standards is an ambassador. And like I said it's just it's a sad day not only here locally but throughout. The National, Hockey League as they put this in in this, perspective you, know for for kids who grew up who wanted to play hockey as you did and, you have, the skills to do it and and he was a great Centerman, the greatest, of his generation without question You also Centerman you you you grew, up in, Chicago you watched the hawks on channel nine we turn on the TV and would be sort of a yellow haze the ice was yellow on TV in that era white watch it on Sunday right Right right after the Dick Van. Dyke rerun and then all of a sudden hawks are. On and your and. Your You're watching that and your Makita. Right on the ice and talk a little bit about. What the how that inspired you to be in the NHL. I remember to just take, it a step further, role, I remember maybe if it was a late game or whatever if I wanted us again we had no internet We had we, had a VCR at my house but I remember waking up. The next morning in wanting. To watch, Ray Rayner NC the highlight for the Blackhawks again and that like that that to me takes me back gives me goosebumps to. Think about going back in in in watching and seeing and, STAN was I mean he he was just remember why. Is a fan just, watch him he, was just so smooth I mean. He claimed, the heavier and he wasn't was not a, large human being by any stretch and eat played in the toughest era the National Hockey League and and that to me is is is when, you look at his numbers with so impressive but. Just so small a tremendous passer really good in the. Off dot you know he played in an era with wood. Sticks and we all know, what is good and Famous in in you know in Wayne's world with the donuts and the Donut shop Sam akitas donuts. So I, mean this this guy, like I said he he was a legend and he he represented represented the Blackhawks so so well. But when it came to the player, part of it I ki- could play again remembering again better to talk to guys that have played with them but you know he was. A guy that could play anywhere you wanted you wanted to play hard game STAN was right in the middle game he'd be. The one, that, you'd have to try to keep away with that park so. He he was like I. Said earlier, when you talk about you know the mount Rushmore Chicago sports legends in estan we've had a lot of them STAN mikita certainly. Needs to be in that picture because of the numbers and, the numbers don't lie in the success that he's had. Both on and off, the ice in, this community you know you mentioned. Mount Rushmore, their statues in this town to the Michael, Jordan statue of the most famous sport statutes Just a few feet away, Michael Jordan, statue is this STAN mikita the statue next to that of Bobby Hall in, a position as as though they were playing online with each other and it is it's it that that's why the people who are not hockey fans or they're new to Chicago where. They're young, to remember Sam akitas, contributions is why we remember him today and I remember him obviously just as a fan And your perspectives little different but. We all are fans at some level right that's how to not only the fan of the player but again if you've ever had the pleasure in the, in the in, the privilege to come across as you a as you just you, know human-to-human you just you, remember those type of things I mean stand had had a great way of. Dressing right he had, those, those plaid checkered pants That, was?.

"Under my pillow late at night and listening? To, my heroes on radio and and then spending a lotta time. At the movies I did all of that as well yeah but I As, long as I got to see the people I liked and there wasn't any star or sports figure that I went Gaga over when I went to the baseball game and saw the cubs. And saw Billy Williamson Ernie banks and all those guys that was my being close enough to see them and and so I never really fond over. Anyone deeply enough where I wanted to communicate with them I'm, trying to remember the first fan letter that I sent, and I want to say it was Ray Rayner I I'm pretty sure the first fan letter I sent was Ray Rayner and because I loved Ray Rayner and I sent him a fan letter. And of course they sent back all kinds of stuff there was a eight by ten him and eight by ten of of cuddly Dudley and they were all autographed. And they're all kinds of really in. A, lovely letter You, know that was signed by by by Ray and and that was a big thing for me because I watched him every morning and so yeah that was that was pretty cool that I heard. Back from I also wrote to to Garfield goose and I got a picture from you know a Frazier Thomas, and Garfield goose signed so those are two big ones There, was a local but they. Were big I also wrote to Bill, Jackson of BJ dirty dragon. Dirty dragon I wrote, to Bill Jackson and. He sent me back Some artwork in, some drawings and? A. Picture of him in the blob of him and blob. And so that local the local stuff yeah was they. Were, very kind in in, what they did I I've, gotten fan. Mail which is astonishing to, me well I have ridiculous I've got a couple people, who have, written asking for a photograph, photograph and, I'm like, I don't have any photographs like a publicity for right right I don't have that I said what do you what do you. Want first of all, you can't read? My. Signature right meet people like to have you know memorabilia. From people they like I mean I'm going I'm going. To, this flashback convention You know and. There, are. A bunch of horror. People that, I want to? Get pictures with I? Mean I just, happened to be I like to. Get autographs and memorabilia and, that's another, thing that's hanging up all, over hanging, up all, over our office that is true That's true People people know what. Offices, Knicks sure. That's true it's like me and FREDDY Kruger and a bunch of, other people and then they're like autographs from other people that I've that I've met over. The years and so I'm looking forward. To that, but yeah. I've sent I've, sent people, you know a photos and stuff because I do have a publicity. Photo here this is. Really weird I don't know if. It's weird or not but I think. It is, I've talked. To you before, about my, my dear friend Gloria Jean they're used to work for Gloria glory. James gourmet call right Used to. Either advertising public relations director, so she was, my boss for. Many years and she, loves listening to WGN, and listened to me on the weekends and.
