"Be the most powerful in the locker room. So the playmakers, the ones who are balling, they don't have to fight. Why am I fighting? You already know, go get my Popeyes, go get my go get my food, go get my donuts. That's to me the fight for to be the most powerful. The last guy you would ever fight in the NFL was who? John rando early. Ray Lewis middle, late in my career, Sean Merriman had a moment there where I was like, yo, I don't know what he's on, but I did find out. The point is, those three news kind of stood out like, yeah, they playing football a little more than the average Joe. James Harrison would scare me. You know what? I know James Harrison. He is a teddy bear. And I'll say that lightly and with a lot of miles between us right now. But he's like, it's just I know him. I know that that is a little bit of his protection, a little bit projection, not necessarily to the core. But he'll put hands on you for sure. All right, help me understand this Mike Evans situation. You just got embarrassed. He dropped the football. He had a sure touchdown. He goes off the field and two officials are there talking to him. What did you see? Yeah. I mean, in that situation, it's all about the optics. The integrity of the game is more than just, are you making the right calls? It's also the perception of it all. And just like with a player, if you saw a player jogging on a play, you would start to question the integrity of that play the integrity of that player. And it's the same thing with a referee after a contest. We just don't want to see you going up for an autograph session. It just can't go down. Not on the NFL's watch and not what thousands of people in plain view. So in that situation, I know he probably thought, hey, I'm in the tunnel, the game's over. What does it matter? But you got to be smarter than that. And so in that situation, I just blamed the officials for really compromising and undermining what the integrity of the game looks like. What do you expect from the Buccaneers, given what's happened and now they play tomorrow night against Lamar Jackson. I wondered, how do you, how difficult is it to prepare for Lamar Jackson? I wondered if it was like when you try to prepare for army football, that you don't see it every week. And but when you see it, it still is successful. Yeah, the most difficult thing is to find that athlete that can represent what Lamar Jackson is going to bring during the game. And there's no one on your team.

"This is just a question. There is no, there is no RE system. You know what I mean? It's not talking to strangers. I'm just accident. It's in a month. Right now, the tentative plan that's becoming very firm and finalized is 5 weeks from Saturday. The Saturday before the draft is where we're going to run it. I can't really announce just yet where it's going to be, but it's going to be here in Los Angeles, California. You are very much invited to return and defend your crown. Four years gets to the next Olympics. Yes. You got 5 weeks. And you ain't started training yet. Well, I mean, I'm doing mental reps. I'm doing my mental reps. Okay. Okay, I get it. So yeah, that's the way I approach. That's a good approach. That's the way you're going to approach the right one. That's the way I do it. I let you know. Let me see, let me see the way I feel. If I could come back and defend it. Well, I mean, just again, to bring it all full circle. How limber did I look doing the squirrel dance to start this? Appearance. The dragon of the leg is the most impressive thing to me. 'cause that means you take your time, taking my time. See, that's one thing people don't know about that then. It's a state of mind. Oh my God. It's a state of mind. Okay. There it is. That's you. Teaching it to me. Now look at my face. That means I'm in awe. For shock. Total shock. In real time, I took it as shock, right? That's where you were looking at me last year. I could not believe you did that. And you know people will record that. But that's why I love you, Rick. Right back at you, right now. Thank you. At Ray Lewis on Twitter and Instagram beyond the edge. Check it out. "The whole crew there, though. The whole crew. Rich, it was the toughest thing that I'm going to tell you as a friend. Don't ever do. I want to make sure we're clear. I appreciate that. But don't do that, rich. Yeah, beyond that. I created an app. This seriously guys, I created an app. That blocks all reality shows from getting in touch with me. Man, that is, we got to check that out tonight on CBS. Not going to be able to do it. Here it is, right? Metta world peace. How did he do? How'd he do? I'm not okay. Very good. I'll tell you this. It's just like me getting up this morning, right? And I said, I got to get up this morning, and I got to drive in LA traffic. Where I'm going, I must be in love with the person that got me there. Is that me? I appreciate it. It's not that bad. This morning. The first time in LA, which I think wasn't bad. I know it's not your first time in LA because you ran for saint Jude last year. Yeah. And you won it. You and Mark Laurie took it down. Now he owns a Timberwolves. Now you're on you're on beyond the edge. It's a lot of things happen when you win the run rate truck. When you run to 40. Ray Lewis here on the rich eisen show. Before I let you go, and by the way, check on the traffic to make sure raise is going to get back. I got somewhere else. So what do you think with Lamar's long-term future in Baltimore? What do you think? Because it seems like Eric decosta and the ravens would love to sit here and talk long-term contract with him and either he's not ready or he's representing himself or he's just a different type of NFL player who's not concerned about his long-term future. It'll all just come to him. He just wants to win right now is what it seems like. What do you think? Yeah, I think honestly, he's one of the young kids that I that I purposely pray for a lot. Because for him to understand the mantle that he now carries in Baltimore, you know? I think it's way bigger than football. I think he's clear on what he wants to do. Right? And sometimes, you know, you can't. Follow the person for doing what the way that they see it. But I think when it comes down to the contract and the rabies, I think a deal will get done. Okay. I really do. And yeah, I think it gets done and we keep taking our city to the next level and he keeps knowing what he's doing. Well, it's interesting you say his mantle in Baltimore. Do you think if there is a torch that it's been passed from you to him? He has to. He has to. And I've been gone from the game ten years. I get it. I swear for my city. I get it, right? But the new sheriff, that he cares a different man. He has to understand that. And I think he does. I really do. I think he, I don't think he understands sometimes the magnitude of where he could reach and how far he can go. And none of us at 24 25 years old had everything figured out. What if somebody had come up to you when you were 24, 25 said that to you? Yeah. Yeah. You know? I mean, would you have understood? I think the same thing I told LJ, Lamar is, I had somebody. To help me walk through whatever greatness, you're running into. You're not doing nothing, no different nobody else did. So you got to have the right counsel, right? And so for me, the guy we spoke about earlier, I wasn't. Right. Basically just took me. He said, I understand that you you're great. You can do a lot. But you need me to help you. Right? And that's what I think Lamar, you gotta have the right counsel and these type of decisions because they affect not just him. I think he needs to understand that clearly. This is a fixed and entire culture, a Raven nation of what young kids who was told they couldn't play a position, right? Go play receiver Lamar now. I'm a quarterback. Yeah. That was no question. Something that he needed to do, unfortunately, at the combine, like, I'm not running receiver routes here, like get out of here with that. And I'm not running a 40 here because I'm not going to have the conversation from here be how fast I am. And amazing. And then obviously Ozzy newsome with the ultimate. Gift basket as he's going out the door. Great move to go get him. There's an extra year of contractual control if you want to talk about the business a little bit here. Now, clearly he is supremely talented. No question about that. What about just bringing this all full circle? We had such a terrific conversation in the first segment of you here about how it's now down to pass rushers and quarterbacks. And he clearly can get away from pass rushers, but at some point it might be somebody like you coming downhill and taking him out and how sustainable do you think his level of play is in the NFL? And we know this game now. So any play is that play. Practice. You know, I hurt myself in practice, right? I think that's the last thing any of us think about, right? Right now, when you start to get into the contractual stuff, of course, they're going to talk about it, but it's really irrelevant in your mindset, right? And in his world that he should live in, injuries the last thing the more things about. Lamar is a football player. And he's going to give you everything he got. And when you think about the core of what a football player is, what Hall of Famers ultimately live their entire life being, that's the person that gives everything empties the tank. That's who he is. And injury. Who cares? I had 9 surgeries. Who cares? Keep going. And you have figured out. So, look, you, of course, you hear all of this. If he gets hurried, one hit, one hit. Yeah. That's why a lot of people, right? But a kid is special. He has the it factor. And people love to play with him and for him. And for me, he's one of those people that I run home because I know something's magical is going to happen. Right. And I just think he has to keep that in his four to thinking with the right counsel. And I think he'll be okay. Right, you're the man. Thanks for coming here. No, man, thank you, buddy. So good to see you, man. It's very good to see you too. What's your time this year in the 40? You know, I got to start training and.

"That's what you see missing from the defensive side of the game. Right? The defensive side of the game now is look react. I'll mine was look destroy or either intercepted or knock it down. Not catch it in the amiga. Because you've done the work to know what's coming. We're back in tendencies. That back in when you actually get to plan those type of chess match, games against Brady and Peyton, it's the smallest things ever that will decide the wins and losses in that game. It's not this big touchdown or it is no, it's the smallest things. It's me knowing Peyton comes to the loud second down and he and I see that the receiver right leg is up on the line instead of his left leg is up on the line and the outside receivers back a yard, then I know I'm getting that high low right now. So I know two driving up and number one coming in and the corner can't make that play. Yeah. 'cause the corner has to sit off. So the only person that can affect that play if you know it's coming. Is the middle back. And that's the difference of when I watch football, I'm like screaming at kids, like, you gotta know the game. If you can count the one two three as a middle linebacker, you can you can be a very effective person. So are you talking to anybody in the game today to say to a lot of people? I know you do. Or you so who are you? Who do you think is equipped to do this? Is doing something? I think rich honestly, we have to, because the game has changed, right? The game is now about the. Guy that can get to the quarterback. And the quarterback. Yeah? That's the game. That seems to be the game. That's the game. It certainly would be play of the Super Bowl. So that's what your defensive player is. Years are coming from, because the only thing that's now kind of relevant is that the lineman and the quarterback. But the essence of a middle linebacker is the general on that side of the ball. Everything, there's no way you can walk to a line. And I want you to really just watch the game. You walk to the, you watch the game now, and the last thing you see is communication. In my defense, it's the first thing you must everybody's communicating. You gotta know what's coming, right? If I see knuckles in the ground, I'm screaming rabbit. If I see knuckle, if I see fingers extended, I'm screaming bird. Rabbit is run. Bird has passed. Right? But I'm giving my D line some sort of a clue on either the be heavy or be like. Right? So now you play the game different, right? I'm looking at my corners, I'm saying, look, they're in bunch. Something coming, right? It's the little things. And so that's the thing that I try to, when I talk to people, I try to explain to any of my camps. I try to explain our greatness wasn't me. I greatness was I was able to communicate what made us great. Right? It's like pulling your shoe screen. I always use this analogy. If you pull your shoe shame too far one way, the other side gonna be short. It's the same thing in defense. Defense has to be on one screen, when the ball moves, even if you're wrong, as a complete defense. If everybody's doing the same thing, you're right. And if you're going full speed, who cares? Ray Lewis here on the rich eisen show, I love this stuff. We've got another segment. Let's take a break. We'll come back for the peacock and SiriusXM audience. "Soft things like to come home. Dolphins get to dolphins ask you to come back? Who knows? I just said it. Everybody missed out. Let's just say that. You know, Dallas made a play rich. Yeah, she did. And it's interesting that you say that that's worth it because now Rogers has that opportunity. Aaron Rodgers at that opportunity. But Brady doesn't. It's one of the few things that Brady will not have the opportunity to say that he's in one place. But he did win another one. What did you make Ray Lewis here on the rich eyes? What did you make of Tom's decision to? Un retire, even though when he retired, he never used the word retire. Right. He just you knowing what it's like to leave this game that you put so much into. What did you make of Tom? I think the competitive side of Thomas is the easy noticeable thing, right? Right. He's one of the greatest competitors ever. And the one thing I said when I got ready to retire, if you got more in the tank, finishing empty the tank. Right. I don't think he's finished. I don't think the tank is empty for his passion for I'm done. Now, I think if they would have wanted, I think he walks out, right? But tasting glory, and then losing the way they did last year. And living with that the rest of your life? I don't know if that's his pedigree. So, you know, I think if you listen to his entire world of I'm retiring, but kind of, it's kind of open. I don't know, I think his passion for the games still burns. And I say to anybody, if you got it, ride it. Ride it. And whenever you read to let go, me for me, it was kind of an easy decision because I said, this is my last ride, right? I didn't go after the season was over. You said it going in. Going in, right? I can do that to maybe even block off what you might have actually done. And I called my daughter, and I said, dime, I said, daddy has to make a really self decision. I said, I just told my tricep from the bone. They say I can never come back. But I'm coming back. So when I come back, I'm coming back to do one thing. One more dance. And she was like, don't come back during the season, you know, Steve is like, you know, pull a Willis Reed. You know,.

It is now in fact hot here. And I have just pulled something. How about Ray Lewis? Oh my goodness. You know what? It's so funny because I told this story. By the way, Ray Lewis is here beyond the edge premiering tonight, 9 eastern on CBS and new reality series in which he is competing. We'll talk about that on this show there. It is. There you are right in the middle of the Panama jungle, metal world peace and Mike Singletary some of the sports names and faces we recognize right there. It's funny. I was telling this story the other day about oh boy. What about the Pro Bowl? Oh man. Oh man. Where you and ros and rod Woodson were part of NFL total access at the Pro Bowl. This is the Super Bowl season where bettis won and strolled off into the sunset and his career, which you eventually got to chance to do yourself. Beating Seattle in Detroit and you and rod and I are on the set of NFL total access at the end of the end of a show. He's laughing already. Where you taught me how to hit. I got a tackle problem. Right. Absolutely. And you were telling me, you know, bend down, absolutely. Get down, explode. Right, get down. You know, not bend over at the hips, but absolutely. I remember you doing your chest. When your chest. 1000, see what you hear. See what you hit through with it. Absolutely. And then I did that. And rod was holding the back. Yep, you let go of it like this. Oh my God. And I went through it. And you're laughing. And rod's laughing. And when you hit the ground, he.
Analyzing Kyle Rittenhouse's Defense Team With Jenna Ellis
"Bring up we were addressing in the last hour the ridiculous claims by the assistant DA there Krause Jim crows Who would somehow imply that Kyle rittenhouse was under some legal obligation to get into a fistfight with rosenbaum First in a Jedi again I'm not a lawyer that's obvious I wasn't investigated though I'm quite familiar with the law It's absurd It's like suggesting again Ray Lewis or Lennox Lewis or Mike Tyson approaches you in the street and throws up their hands and you're under an obligation to duke it out with him first before you pull a fire That is nowhere in the self defense code The essential component of many of them I don't know every single state law but the essence of it is you a reasonable person would be in fear of an SPI serious physical injury or death Is it not that's like the staple of self defense law in just about every state Absolutely And Wisconsin under waxing and I'm not an attorney in Wisconsin but that appears to be the same standard here And clearly the prosecutors were arguing bad points of law And this is where I think it's interesting that the defense didn't object And now closing arguments opening statements those aren't evidence And so you have to be careful as the defense training You don't want to object too much as if you think they're making a good point that you don't want the jury to hear But if I'm the defense attorney and I've done this before in trials is actually objecting to say wait a second That's a myth characterization of the law And just so we're clear judge would you reiterate And kind of put yourself on the side of the judge Like judge would you be helpful Because this guy is so bad he doesn't even understand that he's articulating the law terribly right now Could you please help the jury out thanks so much and make yourself look like you and the judge you know what you're talking about And that guy is a

"Easy. You know, because I can get anybody on the ground. And I would say this that's one of my biggest regrets that I didn't wrestle in high school. My wrestling coach was on my ass, and I still talk to him to this day about it. And we still meet with 20 some years later. We were like, man, why didn't you restaurant or 15 years later when it was? Why didn't you wrestle? Why did you? And I'm like, damn, I should have. Because I would go on there all the time with, you know, some of the guys that did and actually do a pretty good job without any practice. I just naturally was able to get by. But I was, you know, look at all the football players that are successful. I Ray Lewis, you know, I think that erlach and some other people also wrestle. So there's some synergies there. And that's also why I'm constantly going out to form a football player. I see you guys. If you pick this up over here, you got the basics down. Now, you're gonna probably lose against guys in a more experienced because they know what they're doing, but coming in there, you're not walking in there with your left feet. Your explosive and if you learn how to sit on your punches and turn and move around and not be a step, 'cause that's one thing about football players when we come over there. We're so stiff and like we want to explode and throw everybody around and then boom, you get time. You're fatigued. What's up, people? Look, when I gamble, I'm always looking for a way to get an edge. But at my bookie, they double your first deposit. So you start with a leg up. And with your account locked and loaded, you can get in on the UFC two 68 action, which features two title fights on a stack card. Jon Gruden Resigns as Raiders Coach Over Decade-Old Offensive Emails
"John Gruden has always been kind of a wild child in the NFL always been a little bit of a loose cannon, if you will. And I believe he was also he was also the coach of the Oakland Raiders in like the 90s. And then he went to the Buccaneers and led them to the Super Bowl very complicated. But then he rejoined the Raiders in 2018 after he was an analyst on Monday Night Football. Do you remember those things he used to sit down with the quarterbacks? And it was like Gruden's corner. I've never been a big fan of Jon Gruden. I'll be very honest. One in 2002, that's right, my memory's not too bad. I'm not going to be an apologist for Jon Gruden. Okay? I'm sure he lives a complicated life like most people in the NFL. But this recent saga involving in his resignation slash termination is disgusting. And the national Football Association is in many different ways. In enterprise that is built on a House of Cards. The entire structure of how many of the teams are filed as nonprofits on how almost every stadium is built thanks to taxpayer dollars. There's a lot of corruption that exists in the national football, the National Football League. And so it came out a couple days ago that John Gruden is going to be fired, or it has to speak out for his racist and homophobic emails over ten years ago. And I shrugged my shoulders and I actually didn't know where this one was going to go. Because John Gruden signed a ten year 100 million dollar deal with the Oakland Raiders. And now so he technically resigned whatever he says, I have resigned as the head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders. I love the Raiders and do not want to be distraction. Thank you to all the players coaches and staff and fan fans of raider nation. I'm sorry I never meant to hurt anyone, John Gruden. And so it was revealed in some of these emails. And based from what I've said, seen should have said something's probably not no, was he joking around in private in a context that none of us can understand? Yes. He incited Joe Biden, insulted Joe Biden I can't even say what he called Joe Biden on air. It's kind of hilarious. Called Roger Goodell, a certain name. I'm no fan of Roger Goodell. So if this whole thing is like a Roger Goodell, apology tour, but here's what really matters. Here's the question. In the National Football League, do they ever allow people to do bad things and continue to participate? Like murder. How about rate Ray Lewis and his legacy of the unsolved double murder? Or how about you remember this one? You remember ray rice, who literally punched his fiance in an elevator? It was an elevator, right? Which gained total notoriety following the indictment he was released by the ravens and suspended, and now rice would be reinstated after he successfully appealed the league's decision. And this whole thing with John Gruden is this question of should you be judged by things you have said in private ten years ago to destroy your current

"Be. Obviously there are some some big wins in the rams and in the bucks. So start with that one Boy that that was that was kind of the showcase game that the league has been waiting on and it finally happened and I just thought the bucks. They didn't look right from the start. And then i saw gronkowski do something. I've never seen dropped the ball in jamal. Being dropped an easy interception and Stafford was skipping are really and then once he settled in. Yeah yeah that's all. It could be to him. They i think they felt like they. Witnessing than there isn't anything will stop and i think that's the case too. I think they're clearly way on for everybody with the exception of buffalo you know. I think they're the best team. Allegra a buffalo challenge him. I think the. I think the cowboys are starting to be who had thought they would be years ago. They still are given up too many big plays in the back end. But i think the rams yeah hate. They're scary team to play right now. You know if. I'm a quarterback. I don't wanna get. I don't wanna get any debt center Aaron donald and now he's blown snot. Bows after going your name out. You know so. Let's got best guy shake anybody know. They're violent football team. They really are and violent. Football teams make big plays because intimidate you guys remind you of the eighty six bands. Okay eighty five. Bears remind you of the giants team. Baltimore eighty six on ninety of of baltimore. Yeah you're right the ravens team. Here with ray lewis or you hit it violence play. I don't know that you can play football in a quiet docile mood. It helps sometimes to be a little well. You know the thing about. We've stuck by this. Time is because getting emotional like we had a coach when they talked to the team. When i was that washington. We're planning our monday night. "Incredibly interesting students of the game. Yes, but obviously ESPN to the network that was airing this couldn't afford microphones or to have the guys in the same room. The sound was horrible. The mix was horrible. You couldn't hear sometimes when they were talking and Eli who doesn't really say much anyway. The one time when he talked for about 30 seconds straight his mic cut out. So it was a high school production. Few hiccups. It was a high school production on the first night on with millions of viewers really interesting stuff, But I will say this the games in the background Yeah, at times that in a certainty that there are times they put him in three boxes along the left rail of the screen. They had. The game was still readily visible right. You could watch no play by play. They're just kind of having a conversation while the Games on it's like watching the game with your buddies. It's like watching the game with Eli and Peyton and having them talk and you just listen now, if that if you're into that it's awesome. But I will say that the sound needs to be better. The layout needs to be better. They need to be in the same physical location. I'm sorry they do because even under how you shoot that, though, it well, it's the same way to two cameras. You're gonna need multiple cameras, so like they can't like they use So I'm not going to address that issue, so they only have 5000 cameras at ESPN plus ESPN to even the even the Oko. Even ESPN. Oh, chose got 9000 cameras. Just love the kids. This fired up. All right, Bill technical, put them in the same room value and this program, so thank God. Put them in the same room. So the one time when Eli has, like 30, seconds talking and listen, Ray Lewis and I know Re. Lewis brings baggage to it. He's a television guy now. But as a player and Peyton said in a lot of people think, well, that's hyperbole. I agree with him. Ray Lewis, maybe the best defensive player to ever play in the National Football League. Now. Certainly there may have been guys were like Bruce l l t. You know, Reggie white, more physically gifted. Whatever. Yeah, but as far as the force and impact he had on the games that he played in In my opinion, nobody can touch him. Nobody can touch him. You pretty damn good. You go back and look at what he was able to mentally and the things that he did for his team, the Ravens year in year out and the way he made guys better the way he dictated how things will go because he knew what was going on. He wanted leader to. He watched as much film as Peyton and Eli did on defense, and he was He still is a transcendent leader of men. Um For all the other things. He is for the stuff that happened in Atlanta at the Super Bowl, which is no small thing, no small thing. He is on both ends of the spectrum. Okay, Maybe I don't know who and that's not what I'm talking about it. I'm just telling you this as far as a football player, what he did and brought to that guy was in a class all by himself, all by himself, and the conversation you had with the line. Peyton last night was absolutely as interesting as it could possibly be. That was the best just talking X's and oh's, and they started talking about X's nose, and they were kind of busting each other's chops, and I had a game where he was 0.0 quarterback rating against Ray Lewis. And you know you come out, and the big thing lately has been Quarterbacks, identifying the Mac linebacker Mike linebacker. And you know Cam Cam Newton was you know that he didn't know how to. Really. Of course he did. But So Eli tells the story. He's Says Raised the mic 50 two's the MIC. And During the game, Ray supposedly says Not Eli. He should be the mic. Not me. I mean, and then then the other guys go now. I want to be the mic. No, I'm the mic so it you know, that's kind of the stuff that happens on the on the game that is in the game, where Allies like 0.0 quarterback rating. So it was pretty interesting at times having the game because you always say before is had these conversations about how would be fun to watch the game with these guys. This guy and that guy. I have been having a beer with this guy. It was that It was the TV side of it. They've gotten away. We're all used to zoom and all that no for a television show of that magnitude do not rely on the microphone on the computer or now. They had love mix. The mix was not right. They got to get that right? What are they doing? So anyway, they had really had a few interns running the show. I'm telling you, I don't know what they're paying those guys. It's not enough. It'll be worth it. To have that broadcast on because I think people would find that interesting. I think it was really interesting. Yeah, they'll they'll gravitate overnight. You know who also does that? Fox Sports Does that. Um For some soccer Yeah, they have two or three former players. Kind of shoot the breeze during the game, and they're talking and is then the other and you know they might spot a player that they used to play with what you think you know, and they'll just talk about that guy for like, five minutes. While the game is going on in the game is Secondary to the conversation, but the game still on and you can still watch it. People are gonna have a problem with because at times like I said Eli and Peyton. Really, They weren't even talking about the game. They were. They were on their own conversation down. They went down a rabbit hole somewhere here there. It was pretty funny and interesting, But the game is going on. The part that I like is while is watching them critique the game and the decisions. They did that at the very end and over time. So the Raiders hands on his head going. Oh, my God. So they're ice there and kick Raiders are the Raiders are lining up for a game winning kick in overtime on second down. The problem is nobody told the kicker that the field goal units going out on second doubt that's like Rex Ryan stuff, so he gets out there with about 10 seconds left on the play clock. They have no timeouts left. Cause you only get one extra, and over time they burned it. I'll say this to take a delay a game Eli sitting there, he's lack. That's a lack of leadership on somebody's part, because if I if I was out there as a special as the guy I was at times And they didn't do that thing. If you're the kicker, No. If I'm a wing back from the holder, what I do is I step up to at that time. It would've been like Adam Lindner. Or Who else do we have as a who was arson? Albright? Ethan Albright. I said, Ethan snapped me the ball soft. I'm spiking it..

"I think I'd go lighter on the guests. They had Barkley early. Russell Wilson Lee Travis Kelsey, I don't think you need there always to be a third guest. And maybe there won't be a Louis too. Ray Lewis. But I thought by and large, this thing worked. And I definitely thought it was a worthy second option. If you got sick of the first option, or just to watch a couple of drives with the Manning brothers, I thought more as Whatever. That was a night one and it will get better. As the season goes on. I thought that it worked. I agree. I agree. It was clunky. There was a fire alarm that went up in one of the houses. 2.5 of one point that was that was a little bit of a problem. Uh, there were moments you could hear. But I guess I read it was by design the producer telling them it was time to break so Yeah, there was some clunkiness to it, but overall It's like watching the game with a couple smart football fans and you're just hanging out so and I think it works on a Monday night setting where you're not hanging out with whoever you're hanging out with Friends family on a Sunday you're on the couch. It's like you're just having the casual conversation with the Manning brothers. Watch them Call a game. I thought it was good As you mentioned. It's funny. He was a good dynamic. And it definitely worked, especially because as you point out the a broadcast. It's not like you're missing much anyway. So I think this is absolutely potential for a home run here for ESPN. If it was Michael's and Collinsworth, I wouldn't be so quick to change off that. I love their broadcast. I think those two guys do a hell of a job. And I think when Drew Brees take us over for Collinsworth, it's going to be really, really elite as well. I don't want to turn off bucket Aikman because I think they call a really smooth, good game. But for the Monday night crew You know, Whereas I'm I'm the type of viewer that's like I think we can do better than this. Let me hear what somebody else has to say. And I have to wonder there's a There's a cynical part of me that only care when you know when you care about ratings. I wonder if a lot of the games that ESPN will simulcast on network TV on ABC will be the Manning Brothers Games for fear that the Manning Brothers games actually outraged the levy crew if they were just on ESPN and ESPN two Mm. So last night was an ABC game as well as ESPN than they also did the man in custody. ESPN two. Yes, I just I don't know apart because I think that's embarrassing for your a crew. If you're basically you're essentially your B crew, different broadcast outrage you and I wonder if that's in the back of their minds. That they would then also support the crow by putting it on ABC and getting the casualties that would have no idea the second broadcasters going, But they catch footballs on ABC Tonight. Let me watch it next pads the rating for them. Could could makes you wonder what the long play here's for ESPN. My guess is is to try to tie Peyton Manning into doing games. I know they desperately want him to do Monday night Football. Maybe this is him. Dipping his toe into it. Hey, Peyton, you don't to travel. You can do it from home. Don't have to wear a suit. It's casual will set you up. And you do like 10 to 12 games. Just see how you feel. See? I see if you like it. I think that might be the play here for ESPN. It is a trash Tuesday queue up the band. So what's eating you? People are getting the left lane and drive us speed limits. Try the NFL trash, My ex girlfriend. You want me to Trish that trash Tuesday, my favorite day of the week? Not for nothing time to vent. We take it out like the trash. It's trash Tuesday. More as I couldn't help but notice you're wearing a Rangers T shirt. Have you already changed? Have you already turned the page on the giant season and the Yankees season? 11 days until the preseason starts? It's time to move on with our lives and get the hockey season here the way I'm looking at things, the rebuilding Rangers is a better option for you than the Yankees right now independent race or the Giants After one week..

"Thing about. You're listening to a podcast right now. A decade ago disrupt wouldn't even exist. It and i think we're going to get more and more this. Now eli and peyton probably. Espn paid them a lot of money and a lot of the store. Athletes now have never been richer because of the contracts signed the last ten fifteen twenty years so you have to pay for it but if these media companies kind of see this. I do think they might have something there. Give alternative broadcast with guys like peyton. Now there are a million payton's walking around in all these different sports but there are several of them guys. That would be fun. That would be engaging make loose. Don't have it structured. And just let them cook and that's what they did. Tonight they let peyton cook ee followed and then they had guests. Who were fought. Your ray lewis making fun of eli manning for his rookie debut against the ravens when his passer rating was zero point. Zero through twenty yards. And two picks. That's entertaining here. In peyton tell stories about when he chewed at a ref. He called the league office. He wanted to get the refs numbers so he could write a thank you letter. The league office told him he would not they would not give him the address because they were scared. The pate was actually lying and he was going to call in to them out when he really just wanted to write him an apology. Those are cool stories. I mean that's the type stuff we eat up and it was really fun to watch it. I'll give you. Espn a lot of credit. I think they hit it out of the park there with peyton and eli okay. Let me tell you about my friends at fan duel. Football season's here and if you've never bet on the nfl there's never been a better time to fan duel..

I don't know if they got it from the roundtable with them right here but he did say that he said every hard hit as a penalty on the defense Feel like they penalized defensive players for offensive mistakes i he was saying that in reference to ray lewis lewis would hit one of our receivers. Now come out of the game but now that's a penalty on the defense. Yes he's he talked about. How it's the the quarterbacks job to not throw the pay so that a wide receivers are gonna get destroyed. He thought when he played against ray lewis. They wouldn't throw it across the middle. Because ray lewis would pop the ball out or take receiver murder somebody so i thought that was interesting. I like that you know it does show what level of a competitor is he's like dino stack defense stopped and flags. I want to play against the best. I wanna beat the best. You love that attitude like if you're a quarterback you want to be the best defense like a defense who has intimidate like our defense who known to like kill people are really but we take people out of games. Yeah i mean you want to beat those guys. You don't wanna make the league handy cam get to your the refs out there to beat them for you like the none. The hall monitors right exactly exactly so again. That's fair is it. The murderer the miami. The ravens dan. Neither it's not. Maybe it's just what the ravens steelers alleged than i think. Your lawyers are going to get a lot of phone calls after this recording. Didn't you write the defensive. Ray lewis or his perspective back then. I didn't accuse him of the murder. I just said simply the murder. There was a murderer around ray lewis. That's not up for dispute. that's not. That does nothing. He was around the americas letters. Nothing there other than the factual stating of there was a murder. And ray lewis was there and and that's what happened. I feel like if you writing this for print your editor would probably have written something in red next. There's no vetting no lawyer no anything again. I don't have any of my facts wrong here. Okay and all the other university miami alumni just to our as as what we hired macadamia dough right as consultants and bring ray lewis in and remind them what greatness looks like right. Get that university. Miami team that won the national championship. That just never say die. That were just striking hidden. Claim with pry. Ed reed looking to the locker room over unique. My question is this. What the hell. Honestly what the hell does having cameras from. H. b. o. Have to do with the players that we have on this team. It doesn't is no mary. Humans actor on those kind of things. Man people i mean like brett san. We gotta go back to rocky three. What makes you think that the guys that are on our roster right now aren't rocky three driven and blaming hotel. Did you see what happened to walk you to i fight. It wasn't it's back to the roots and tiger this. This team is lacking heart. It is there is no way that there was too many mental mistakes. This too much hype going into last year before. I'm not saying that they don't want to win. And what it takes to get their intent is good. So ray lewis at brett's mom used to give speeches not only the football teams before big games when there are underdogs but rumor is buster. Douglas cheap buster douglas. The speech before he knocked out mike tyson. Like louis has a picture of your mom. And his locker. Before names is crumble. It up like smacks and he touched it for like breads mom today. Let's go. She choreographed his little dance. But yeah man you especially for young kids starts with the cameras and stuff issues. I get i get listened. There's one hundred percent. I hope i'm wrong. I hope i'm right. What i'm saying is this. I agree with what you guys are saying. You know what i mean. There's there's definitely it's not like. I'm like i can't believe the saying this stuff. I totally get it. I'm on a different side. Where i just more for me more cowboys content and not just sitting adding curse some break demanding curse mahomes won a super bowl when he was okay. And that's different because you're just your pictures just going on video game so that's what i'm going to say this isn't the same as the madden curse to me. I think it has to do with a distraction. During the most important time of the season was his training camp we just went through a covert one where we couldn't really have one and now we're about to have another one and now we're going to have bret said hollywood writers cameras all this crap around. We don't need that for our team. We just don't to win we don't i. It's not gonna help man at all all right and again. We don't deserve it and who is more talented. That two thousand eighteen or this team coming up here this team coming up here i disagree. What are you nuts. Which one you a question. I answered thirteen and three the year. Before i mean we had we had romo. We had our defense was stacked bro. We had wear. I met we just. It was know. I think we're deeper this year than we were then. Do they have more better starters on the team in. Oh seven oh eight schorr and they ran away with that division and they had perceived and there was a great team. Don't get me wrong. When we went on our knox i said to you. Then this sucks man. This sucks. We're not happy. No we were not happy. I'm like honestly. I don't watch her at all since that dallas cowboys season. Alright not on some good football. I knew i am but you know what i don't. I just like football. i don't care about. I don't care about their personalities. The blows my mind here. I think that you guys got the misconception that because they spend ten minutes of the hour episode on somebody's morning routine you think that's all it's about like there's a lot of in-depth good football talking. They're they're really means. Just go to personality member in good fellas when the tape Okay so let's get this. How long is each episode an hour. Okay how long has each along is each practice depends. I mean it's morning afternoon. There's no more double sessions. Probably really think we're going to see every skeleton drill and every now they're going to put the highlights in and they're going to make it look a certain way. Okay it's just hollywood. I think you're missing the whole thing here starchy and that is again. We're a fast food chain. We are not a mom and pop restaurant anymore right. We're where we got bought out by arby's corporation and frito lay and we're not making those homemade deep fried chips. I'm that no. We're not making that that. That type of food. I think that the nfl would. It would have been better as a sports fan to see. What's going to happen in jacksonville with that distraction. And you've got the number one pick their. I'm tired of this team being treated as if it's a the new england patriots tired of by the way have they ever had a new england patriot. There's no because you have to have a losing season so you done. What is right here bro. I'm saying that that's a criteria in the beginning alerting season. No if you were listening. I said it changed over time. I wanted better stories of of piss. Poor teams that were coming back in redemption stories. Yeah but but like even in the past when there were no rules. They didn't pay right. They were collecting teams. Would they abell check like get this out of here. I don't want this and there's not using you're right. You're right bell. Check didn't want the cameras on his team. He wanted the cameras on the other. Teams brag totally. i. I can agree with that group. I i'm glad you're happy. I'm very much. I'm going to watch and we're gonna watch so i will but otherwise i'm not against content but we're gonna point stuff thing. This is going to do nothing for us search. It's not going to give us more exposure. It's not going to give us more fans. Cowboys have their base already. Jacksonville would probably help that franchise but with us. What's it going to help all all three. It's hurt us. it's not. It's not for exposure. Eight is proving to you and to everybody once again that in twenty twenty one no matter what anybody says. The dallas cowboys are the biggest draw to watch extra content when it comes to football now. america's team. This is by the way you do you know. Let me let me make your analogy before. Do you know where you know where that draw matters.

Lamar Jackson, Ravens QB, lands cover for Madden 2021
"So the mark Jackson announced he will be the cover athlete for Madden twenty one is only the second ravens player to ever be on the cover ray Lewis was on the cover in two thousand five he was asking he was concerned about the infamous Madden curse and he said I'm not worried Patrick Mahomes was on the front and he wanted to be P. so I want that curse at left to follow the path of M. V. P. then the Superbowl homes on the cover last year after the MVP season then obviously we know what he did this year winning the Superbowl so maybe the Madden curse is over but that seems appropriate yeah mark Jackson will be on the cover people are tweeting out clips of him doing Maddon type moves and I mean we haven't we haven't seen him play in a while obviously because it's not football season but man he's he the league isn't such a great position moving forward the quarterback position across the way that it's evolving it's so fun to watch and quickly I got out and now like there in six games later they're ready to play and highlight any and he's just he's such a thrill to watch because he not only puts these incredible movies and I he gets out of bounds are down so good at avoiding the head home to that it's just you can watch without that that horrible anxiety of like he's going to take a big hit he knows how to to get that actually got to get out of bounds

What are Chuck Pagano's plans for the Bears defense?
"Now Chuck Pegado he replaces Vic Fazio who went from Chicago to Denver. He is the new defensive coordinator of depth buyers trademark me your thoughts was well. This is the one that this this instigated the article <hes> thinking about Chuck Pagano because you lose Vic Fangio. Who is I think along with Wade Phillips the most most respected affected defensive mind in the game right well bill belichick sort of on an island up there by himself but you know throw in Romeo Coronel is another guy who's respected but we don't really we know what Chuck Pagano is? He had one year defensive coordinator with the Ravens where they finished third in defense with Ray Lewis Ed Reed Terrell suggs and then he went to the the colts and he never really had much town to work with on defense now he's token over a defense that is almost sure to regress to the mean just because they had a sky a high turnover rate loss very few games to injury last year and cannot and fifteen percent of drives with an interception like they did last year especially especially That defense every week to make up for their offense. I felt like an if you're if you're in the situation Pagano. You're going to get blamed from their earliest part of the season. It doesn't go well. Why would I want to take over some for someone who floundered before me you come in and you look on the other hand when you have a chance to work with Cleo Max Akiem Hicks Roquan Smith Dan Danny I mean they're absolutely loaded Jackson Kyle? They are loaded and yet. I think it's a tough spot to go to for for Pagano.
Meet Chad Steele, aka the guy behind Tom Brady, Peyton Manning and Ray Lewis at Super Bowl
"Know, watching the TV Sunday night. And once again, I see the ravens vice president of public relations front and center in the center of the football universe again. And I said we have to get Chad on this week's Adam Schefter podcast. He must be on honored. Well, I mean, it's incredible. What has happened for those of you who are now listening basically CHAD'S job during the year is to work with the Baltimore Ravens? But Super Bowl week. He becomes the media liaison for are you signed to a player or a team. Fair. So during the week there are a number of us that are there to help league out with credentialing radio row know kinda point media in the right direction opening night that Monday night were assigned to a player. I had Tom Brady on Monday night. And then we're time to a player after the which again I had Brady. So it's it's it's flit up between between people. I just so happened to have I think is, sir. Certified time I've had Tom when when they've been in there. So we're we're we're kind of developing a little bond and you had Tom three or four times yet Peyton Manning after the Broncos won the Super Bowl Ray Lewis after the ravens won the Super Bowl. It seems like you always have the star attraction. How does that happen? You know, I don't know where they're like. I said they invite a few of us down kind of some of the heads of department from around the league to help out all week. And then we have some young kids some interns that are looking for jobs, and some some younger systems coordinators that are that are looking to expand the horizons a little bit and down there for the week. And then we just we get the game assignments. And I think the first one that I had when I worked at Super Bowl outside of of the ravens when was was Russell Wilson in in New Jersey a few years ago. And you know, I got a quarterback. I think maybe my side helps you know, that I'm a bigger guy, and I can get out there and kinda kinda move the people through but just ever since. Then I've I've had quarterbacks I think I think six along right now, the only the only loss at what I had I had cast year when the when the eagles beat them, but I pretty decent record. So there you are on Sunday night. The patriots win the Super Bowl. Tom Brady is stormed by the media, Tracy Rolston of CBS is trying to get in to get that interview from your perspective. And you were the only one that appeared in that show with Tracy in Tom, it was Tracy Wilson, Tom Brady, and Chad steal. What was that scrum? Like for you. You know, I it's just it's interesting because Tom pulled in a hundred directions, and you know, we're talk to CBS CBS wanted to try to get the interview pretty quickly. But as soon as you're out there, you're Tom celebrating a little bit than teammates coming up, then have coaches coming up, and he wants to make sure he's very good about making sure he gives respect to the to the opposing team. So they wanna make sure saw Jared golf, and there were a couple of other players that want to see and it's kinda hey, Tom over here can Tom over here. And we're like, hey, Tom, you know, got Tracy right here. Okay. Hold on. I just wanna see this guy. And then as soon as that's done. Somebody else comes up somebody else comes up, but he's he's kinda pulled in a million directions. And we're just saying that hey, trace you just just hang tight hang with us. We'll we'll we'll get them there.

If you heard that word, he won't be hey, she'll handle tonight ceremony with class. There's on what you call class. Just what I should have been in the first ballot hall of fame class. As you say when you invite me, you invite mob behavior, and guess what? That is. I'm gonna let y'all know I don't know anybody else. So and helped me that has ever retired from the game top three by the numbers at their position. And was not a first ballot Vanisi football hall talk to you right down. So so guess what? I get it. This is simple as an hall of fame committee can do themselves a good deed by emitting this te'o son jaw when he was playing reporters media everybody out there -til was like y'all my feet and my mercy. And then when you all finally had the power your son them back. Okay. Now te'o is like, okay. Invite me back. I'm gonna let everybody know why I'm disgruntle, and it will be disruptive. It'll be honest because I think te'o is standing on the proper premise, y'all plan shade, y'all out here being petty was so one status and Accolate earned that don't take that away from me. And then don't add to my sunny by put Randy moss. In there who te'o has some numbers better in some not. But is right there in terms of historical record, and you put them in first balloting until so you'll be awesome drops you right? I'm just for me. And no one te'o him. Call him, a friend. I hope he doesn't do anything not just embarrassing himself. But also his family and the people just around right? I think that we all forget because he didn't go and stuff like that. Red Sox sweep Yankees with wild rally, walk-off at Fenway
"Going to turn this right over to Mr Ryan who got home at two AM Dr Mike to a. m. from Fenway park last night after the Red Sox. Concluding, another improbable game in this weekend. Coming from three runs down in the ninth to tie winning it in the bottom of the tenth. And Bob, I will say this, but I just wrote this it. This game lasted so long. It seemed to end up in October of two thousand and four for the New York Yankees. Well, let's start with the the fun stat here, which is that came to one two and three of this four-game series took a total of four hours and forty eight minutes to play and it last night's four hours thirty nine minutes and it was an entered its fifth hour in the ninth inning. So there's always that which means the Yankees are back to normal after two days of aboriginal speedy play. I have long maintained, and this goes back thirty years that where I sport. Editor of with guts. I would cover baseball by the series not by the day that you would have to explain to have to counter people how the game went, nor who scored the runs and how the game went daily. But when series was over your writer, your your man or your woman would would would compose a graceful essay tying together all the ins and outs and scope and meaning of the series. If ever a series deserved that kind of regular season treatment in our experience, it was this series which began last Thursday night with the fifteen. When the Yankees ahead three, nothing. After three batters had been strode strident Stroud Agawam to the plate and then led four, nothing in the second inning, and eventually lost the game fifteen to seven with a pitcher named Jonathan holder who had been pitching lights out all year to on the road, giving up giving nobody out in the fourth inning with seven consecutive guys reaching base and five of them scoring ending with Jonathan holder. After a blown save by Chapman, losing the game into tenth inning, all kinds of stuff to pitching gems by the Red Sox and a simple fact that if the game, if it's gone, the other way, the Yankees would be one and a half out, but it went the way it went and they are now nine and a half out eight in the loss. Eleven in the win. Okay, I'm done done them. I'll take. So if you're the editor and you say to your writer summit up in a sentence buddy boy. Is it over? You have to say, realistically, it's, it's, it's hard to believe that the keys are going to bounce back. What if the Red Sox are gonna blow it, or the more, the more the former, the latter than the former. The Red Sox don't appear to be blow team that's going to blow it this year. Yeah, I think that, but it would be what it would be. It would be encompass. There would be the fact that the Red Sox beat them every which way and at the Yankee of a defensive problem which has been around not noted enough nationally was on acute display this week. And of course ultimately that in the game that they had wrapped up playing a game, they like the way they like to play it. They couldn't even weap- it up with everything going their way. You know, Bob, I, I did some checking today because objects in the rear view mirror and sometimes be closer than they appear that is the Oakland Athletics up for the New York Yankees when the Yankees. Mitch. And Bob, when the. The Yankees were fifty and twenty two and I thought they were the team that was eventually going to be on a pace to win one hundred thirteen. The way the Red Sox are they were thirteen games ahead of the Oakland, Athletics. They are now two and a half games ahead of the Oakland Athletics when they were fifty and twenty two the as thirty eight and thirty six. The Yankees have now played eighteen and twenty baseball for the last thirty eight games which is a quarter of a baseball season. That's not a small sampling. That's a serious sampling.

"Breath for speech though was more just like he forgot where he was halfway through the speech. So Ray Lewis was thirty three minutes of full on preaching. Yeah, and he said he was going to try to keep it to twenty-five, but Ray Lewis. No, he's never ordered a burder in under twenty five minutes like no, absolutely. Lewis is a kind of guy that leaves a tip at a restaurant or does he leave the Joe Gibbs prayer booklet behind his tip? Oh, absolutely hill right down like yeah, a psalm, psalm twenty three or something like, here's a little tip for you. Go on with your day. I'll pray for you. That's a big that's such a power move by the way to say, I, I don't know if you saw Robert Clem coz speech. How are piece where he was like? I tried to ask Ray about the Atlanta incident and race it out. I prayed for you. You are number one in my prayers last night to just walk. I'm so it'd be like, yo-you number one in my prayers. What even say that there's no defense to that? No, it's the classic. Bless your heart. That's what you say, the south man just plus your. Suck my dick in the north is your heart. Yeah, we, I think that's our new thing. We're going to start praying for pedia plus your Kevin Durant. I'm pray for you tonight. Okay. Number one of my prayers. Very, very biggie. Yes. All right. Let's do our who's back Hank is on his sixteenth vacation of the year. So he is we have Bubba in instead Bubba. You wanna start. Sure. My who's back the week is your boy bake cat Steven Seagal. Ooh, wee formerly disavowed, but it just came out. He's a big Putin guy, and he has been appointed as a u. s. envoy which I had to go with that was, but it says he is going to facilitate relationships between Russia and the US in the humanitarian field, including cooperation in culture, arts public in youth exchanges, that child trafficking writer. Yeah, it's unpaid too. Yeah. I'm sure it is. I'm sure I'm sure it's paid entirely and bitcoin to Jen. I'm excited about that. The more Stephen go, we can get in the public eye, the better. I think I, I, I don't know exactly what his job responsibilities are going to be, but it sounds like he's just going to be flying back and forth between Russia and Washington DC. And honestly, that's probably all we can hope for from Stephen skull. That's a great job for well. And Steven Seagal is one of those guys who's been in action figure in movies for so long that I actually kind of believe like he can be a fixer like he'll come in and just start killing people and that if the problem is there are people that need to be killed, then he will degrade at this job. I don't know if that's exactly what it entails. But I do actually think my brain has kind of morphed where it's like Steven Seagal yet he could get us out of a jam even though it sounds like he's working for Russia, not us. Well, so you said that he'd be a great person to bring if the job required killing. I think any job that Steven Seagal accepts his only solution is killing. Yes, he'll make it work. He's like, he's got a hammer and everything's a nail. You know what I'm saying? Right, right. Like, hey, guys, we should send out a couple of emails. Let's try to circle back with everyone and get on the same page with this piece. We're working on to help the youth of America. No, actually, let's just kill everyone. Okay. Done perfect meeting over Liam was that the only one got just one. Okay. Nice. PF t want you go. That was a good one. My whose back is Nick Sabin and more specifically, Nick saban's lake. He's like, you know, ever gonna like to just take the boat out and cruise around. And we certainly like to have our share a fun here on the lake, and then everyone's like, see, Nick savings kind of fun. Dude. He's not just the taskmaster you think he is..
