"His first year and it wasn't quite as bad. This syria was like the worst turnover. Ray guy but there's a huge shelf. If you look at the averages. I've got a stacked where words of color-coded there's a huge gap between garoppolo Who's the next guy above jones and the and the final two guys in in tier three. Which is dan ryan fitzpatrick. They're almost cheer for so I'd probably but daniels. Joe johnson is right between three and four spry. Reverie belong with the israeli. I mean he's he's a three he hasn't i. Don't know ruben. Using four yet you know that's just because he has played more. You know what you see a guy who the maury plays. The less people like them. We'll see that the other thing that's crazy about this too is like i felt like we were heading into the stretch of really good quarterback depth and we realized too because the way the game is played. Like more guys numbers. Look better than ever before. Then you have to kind of factor in like. Oh wait a minute disguised on for this many yards because it really that big of a deal. It's thirty eight hundred yards that big of a deal. Now if your team's yesterday on was like janus winstons one of eight guys just over five thousand yards rate because playing today and you'll lomax would have six thousand yards so there you go. You know although. I thought the stuff on on tastes. Inverse jamie's made a lot of sense. Like i don't get the taste thing a life of me. I late winston all everyday. Yeah did you get any good funny reaction on that like that. Payton's obsession with the taste hill or know More during last season you know people felt like Over the last years people felt like sean payton. You know maybe arrogantly was gonna prove for the league that he tasted hill. But i was feeling less of that like as you get closer to having to actually decide that declare. That's going to be our offense. When you have winston thank mostly will now feel like it would be stupid to start jason hill. He lose all your tation hill packages right and you got very little chance that he's going to become you know more matter lead you even the playoffs Whereas winston shoot maybe a navy disaster. But you got a chance of it. Not being one. And maybe sean payton can influence that and and structure the offense in ways that a little less risky for him and and see where they go. I still think they're going to be looking for quarterback year. Yeah that's kind of where the starts to to break down again. Which is probably worth me. Updating i mean we used to do it multiple times a year on the radio. Show where you'd be like all right. How many teams are stable. And i remember one point felt like hey there's only only five teams that have a question now and now it feels like it's happening over again but again the the. Nfl eats the position. They eat the position. There's if you don't figure it out within those first two years first round. Pick your done and i thought half the league half the league is set so if you select if you look at the top seventeen and a league okay In that includes rothlisberger cilicia taken out of there. Because he's going to retire at some point. I believe through mayfield is about where they're not looking for a guy. Rents rogers mahomes. Brady wilson watson alan the mark jackson stafford prescott. Herbert matt ryan. And he's the age thing is the only reason murray tannahill borough car. Nothing would surprise. You but may feel russ berger mayfield except for the old guys brought any who could retire anytime. I feel like those guys are all guys their teams for the most chart. One a half unless there's a car surprise agree. Yeah i two car thing you never know. I'd go ahead and then after that we're getting into cousins goff went garoppolo. Daniel jones says patrick darnold winston bridgewater. Newton isn't that totally different. That half the league is all like besides you know unless you're just drafted you're like baiter already have a guy that drafted or those guys aren't the guy right. Yeah i mean the bears. The pats Denver's just hoping bridgewater is is anything that i mean kaz lock is just a turnover machine to so half. The league has the guy. They live Then of the remaining half the league maybe five those teams hope. They have a guy who like they think they might have a guy right and the net leaves ten or twelve teams. That are like you know in some form of trouble maybe or looking no. You're right because i'm going through it along with you here There's probably in that bottom group. There's probably five teams. That are hoping they may have the answer on the roster like you mentioned new england obviously chicago would be the case there. Too sure Gimme gimme a tier four story. That's worth talent to stuff. Maybe i think. I think the one is fascinating because there's a whole lot. There's there's not a whole lot of body of work of playing. And i don't remember people killing him coming out necessarily What what's the truth onto. What's the fair assessment. I feel like the comments. Trended chew negative autumn like the feeling of belcher to negative on it. But i wouldn't want to be running with a betting window and putting anything on either. I sort of like feel like.

"Thank you, Danny away. The positions played like so many players utilize that. Well, Jeff, did you say peanuts? No. I think we talked discussed this a while back. Did you say peanut is the Hall of Famer? I think he comes up just short personally. And unfortunately, I don't think Lance Briggs really has any real shot. No, you know, and I don't think he should go in. But Devin Hester's the one guy who I think probably will get in because of his fame. Special teams ace. He's Ray guy. He'll be right next to re guys. That's right now. Is that right? That's it, right. You have to ask your that question later about Devin Hester? Yes. Yeah, He's not having that. He knew it was great. The problem for peanut is just, you know, It's such an exclusive club that I think he's going to have a problem eventually getting in. Mm hmm. Well, I would say this shot is the answer is shot for me, Danny. I think the next Baird again It would be Devin Hester and Oland would be on the outside looking in the I think maybe eventually but just not right away. Right, Daddy. All right, gentlemen, the NFL is slowly molding itself into the MBA with player and power man and superstar players expressing frustration through the media and on their social media accounts. So I ask you guys shot or no shot. The next thing the NFL takes from the MBA is the super team model. All of the Celtics Big three or the Warriors. Big four. Say that one more time so I can question the shot or no shot. But next thing the NFL takes from the MBA is the super team model like the Celtics. Big three. The Warriors Big four Basically where players decide to all go play together somewhere. It's kind of like the bucks did that. You know, Tom Brady decided..

"At 866496 23 100. Holly. I'm sort of sad for the Warriors that they had their one of their most enjoyable games of the year, if not their most enjoyable game of the year. On the night of the outdated documentary we used to. We used to share real estate together. I never had a problem with the war ease. Yes, they knew the greatness of the greatness of the Oakland Alameda County Coliseum. It's a short walk from the concourse City to the very funny we brought this up. I cannot, for all the life of me. Remember any co mingling between the Warriors and the Raiders, although we heard from a listen Who said that the Hall of Famer used to say on our airways when Rick Perry had a show that Al Davis had him out to practice, and then he ran routes and that I wanted to sign Rick as a wide receiver. I like his height and his athletic ability. I mean, here's the question. Is he running? Is he running the routes? Either A. With the fanny pack on that he wore every day. It can be our or be in the buckskin jacket with the tassels when he defended, I say both, I say both. Why stop at one? What's the Let's throw it out? Come on, come on out for some around. She's like, hang out and put on my outfit puts on the bucks get kicked around on the fanny pack. It's my case. 6 ft seven. Rick Barry is a tight end in the Red Zone, man. You know what I mean? He had a couple down so but anyway, so so good will continue to hit it. We have sound on it. All right, so welcoming, copes back into the scene here anymore anymore. Thoughts that popped in your head and you can't make the transition behind the glass ever on the heels of the Rick Barry. I'd like you to line up and kick a field goal. Granny shot Yeah, we're all night. They call it a freak. A great straight ahead. Straight ahead on like a granny would kick. You have the waste of the soccer style Socialist. Do that. Yeah, I'm sure you appreciate it. This work but for coast, maybe just a quick explanation. They also move. How cool is that? They had the quick cut a ray guy just with the William just but just a little mop Top the red hair just booting it. Well, the leg too late, like absolutely Think Way was in the air for like a day. Still the greatest partner I've ever seen. So, Coach. They had that punter back then, Ray guy. The guy was always know what he was a great guy. No. Believe Paul, even from former mystery guest Ray guy, dude, you know what I mean? We talked about it and he threw no hitters Southern Mississippi. Remember that he was like a legendary baseball prospect. These are just some of the other kind of Ah, fruits of the mystery guest era. I'm telling you, we got to get back to the mystery guest. We gotta get back. Okay. All right. All right. 2020 2021 past. You know, we got a virus out there. People didn't mystery guest, okay? All right. Well, great guide. It was fantastic. Actually, It was so long ago that we actually have a whole new generation of mystery guests, You know? Really? Yes. That's the way we were doing The ray guys in the in the Joe Rudy's of the world like Navarro Bowman could be a mystery, right? Yeah, very good. Very good. Or, you know, Andhra speed rinse. Could be a Mr first guy. We gotta call. Yeah. Z doesn't um against line reach out to Latvia. Cause he's leaning against a car smoking a butt somewhere. Haven't says, yacht. By the way, guys, How about Rose? Ellen? This mags? How about Rose? Stop, dude, Non stop smoking butts, man. And I was telling cops Go have some very good Is it gonna say I felt the bad man when he When he passed away. I was like I kind of felt it may be too Like these two guys were so great. I don't want either of them to go. That's essentially what I was just going to say. I'll say I was told Copes. I started feeling bad for him near the end. Like his eyes. He looked kind of like a top like a basset hound face. He got all droopy and water, I think drove him into the ground. I think so. I put some my son is And then I'll try to get kind of got sentimental. When I tell you I love to dominate you on the plane field, but health and life and death is a different thing. That's what he said. It's like the time he showed his humanity. Then, although his humanity was on display of the way he was a ground breaker by hiring minority coaches, and Tom Flores and art Shell and You know, he was heartbroken. Al. For all the reffing was easily the most forward looking sort of image Raskin. I love that oppressors, and that should not be that should not be understated. That's a bit to me. That's a really important part of his legacy for sure, And he told us that story about the redhead and nap about when he had the Raiders in the sixties, and they were doing a preseason tour down and either Louisiana They had a pre exhibition game against like the Houston Oilers in like Louisiana. Location, my ass. Yes. Seriously. No joke. No joke, the they ran up against it. And now Al was pissed out like called off the game or flew back home. Or he wouldn't He wouldn't have it, man. So that's gotta shout out. Al's no question. Absolute racial justice man was yes. And and and gender justice, too, for real pirate Jamie Trash That's been the guy Man, e. I said the listener wrote in and said, Hey, man! I know I only knew Al in his later years when he had any completely had lost his fastball student. He was a child. He was basically kind of the character we joke about, but not slide, right, but also not as like. The team wasn't good. You know? I mean, like they were good when I was, you know, when I was in fifth grade sixth grade, they make that Super bowl run or whatever, but they were. They were kind of a joke for all of my child questions. They have the good team you know, to write. We can. And then all those guys they want to. They were really from 90. When they lost to the bills in the playoffs was at 90 91. Yeah, that point up until that the death of Hollywood. You had him on the ticket. 10 50. They were terrible. Terrible when you used to, didn't you do? The weekly s so when the tickets and 50 launched The first season. Jon Gruden was coaching. So is 97. Yeah, and they well, they were bad, right? I trade with her, but they were terrible. Yeah, 99. I covered that little notes that I covered him in 99 to 99 a little personal. Let me bring in my resume here to give us to my 99 In June of 99. I leave the Niners beat to go cover the A's. For the rest of the season. I mean the final road trip of the year. I'm kind of war now because I've done the Niners into the A's..

"So he could go on. He doesn't know he doesn't know. And the owners. It's you know how much money we're gonna stand to lose here? So they're gonna lose a lot of money one way or the other so And you just You can't make a decision now because the date is not all in yet, And who knows when it's going to be in and who knows when it's going appreciably change? All right. This is pretty funny. Normally. Aaron Rodgers winning does interviews. He's he's prickly. Let's be honest. You trick me. We've had him on the show before. So he was on with that McAfee in a Jayhawk couple of former and help players, and this was pretty funny. So this used to be a thing like Hey, how far can you throw the ball? I can throw it over that mountain. So here's Aaron Rodgers when he was asked how far he can throw a football, It's got a sense of humor. What is the longest you've ever thrown? Do you even know that number? Do you not like What is the longest you've ever thrown a ball Because you notoriously have a rocket. I mean, you hit the sky in the Lions Stadium there whenever you brought that thing down. Here somewhere between 60 and 70. Sweets for 69 yards out for you. Nice. Congrats. 60 nines. Always funny. It's not just going to check that number. I understand people call a sophomore. But there's Aaron Rodgers. Very well respected, Nice mustache, Good facial Hair Hall of Famer, So I've lost track because he goes through them like They're dating, and I don't know who he is. Now, after Danica is he taken because no longer know they're not an item anymore. He's going to take some time to cool off was a Olivia mine and Living here for a while. Yeah. We found that feeling a lot further than that. Steve Steve. What? Leigh Steinberg told us to Steve Markowski did throw the ball 104 yards. He said. He saw it. He was there. That's that's the urban legend. And, yeah, that's where we started. This first client with Steve Bartkowski Mahomes could Holmes threw it out of heroin through it right out of the stadium. Yeah, if you get his hounds, you know, a 10 yard 12 yard run up. Well, I saw him throw. How far did you throw the ball on to three jet chip wasp when he was backpedaling 17 yards measure that one. He backpedaled 17 yards. And through it. And he underthrew Tyreke, but I mean, it's understandable What if he's coming into the ball? 17 Arkady throw it like he's throwing a shot. Putter zone Now is, if you guys lead right now to get Chuck. It used to be cool when they did that NFL Competition on the pro Bowl you have guys do. They would have all the quarterbacks their name, but they didn't try to see how far they could throw it. They know what they used to. They had one of those. Yeah, Yeah. Yeah, they had one of those. What they would do is they would true Bledsoe. I have to go back and look because they used to run that when we didn't have a works, Bill, you always did. Yeah. They ran that all the time. And they actually did you know how far can you throw the ball thing? Was watching. I want Elway. They ran a play in Denver. Remember refrigerators to practice with you, Marcus? Your role. They would roll Elway all the way outside the numbers to the right. He hit his back foot. And then throw across the hole with the people You used to kill teams that to the backside safety would think. Okay, I can come across. Now. I don't have to stay on the hash here because he's not know nobody can throw the ball like that. Harry Jobs like a missile. JaMarcus do that. But he did put it on field. Three know that Wade hit a guy and you need be rooting against him. And you're like What? Oh, my God. I actually shaved elected one day was planning the ball. He was pointing it right where I was standing, and he would make it land. Within, like a yard every time. And I said, shame. We've gotta have a competition. I bet you could kick a football more accurately. Anja! Marcus! Khun! Wow. Uncertain throws uncertainty. JaMarcus wasn't mature. Marcus had a great arm. But on certain throws she would be here. Data. How it's there. You just didn't know where it was going. How it exactly Give her a fair catch any of the punch. You were catching the puns catching pond because he was working on things, but he would catch he was that they had guys down there to actually catch him. But he would he would hit it and he was working out his coffin corner. Does Jane was not good. They're in bed it on on the nose down. And otherwise she'll get a lot of touchbacks because he couldn't harness it. So he was so strong leg so that he would hey, could do that He could learn the Aussie rules, but He would just, you know, Ray guy would just kick it out of bounds. And so he learned to do that, And he would he would kick it across. You know, from the right hash mark, where he would plant a ball out of bounds on the left. If he did it the other way it slide office foot anyway. He was incredibly accurate. I mean, just a psycho accuracy. Robbie. Golds like that. Robbie Gold can do things with a football. My gosh, he could kick the ball left footed. Like when are you ever going to do that in a game if they hurt your right leg, But it's like, Wow, This guy's a wizard. Unbelievable. Unity house keys. Did he saved a touchdown, son? He had a nice tackle like that. Mitch is tremendously skill. He can he punched. Actually, they were practicing. One day. They're all kicking left footed. He's a big guy. Why is he doing that? Unbelievable. Yeah. All right. Let's get this in there and then we'll move on. We get the caboose, all sorts of stuff coming up Saturday. The NFL. Gale Sayers, one of the best to ever do it in his career, was cut short by injuries passes away. At the age of 77. This is probably his most famous game six touchdowns against the 40 Niners..

"To. He was trying to the young Howard Schultz. His son was trying to kind of not brag about who he was just be taken for an analyst for ESPN. And then we kind of opened up, I opened up the bag there, but I think that was fine. You know, three or five six Redditch and Kruger should feel blessed. Jordan Schultz took time to him on kmby Irish family could buy and sell both of you. Yes. Thank you. And, and, and three oh five you as well. Ninety five is Larry your jealousy is unbecoming crap comment, Jordan shelves. I don't know. One government said about the draft this all about six five. Here we had banned. The Dow is down fifteen hundred then he remembers he's Howard Schultz, his son and all his right again. Yeah. That's true. Yeah. Four away. You'll wake up in Jordan Schultz. The two most powerful guys ever come on Camby are. Yeah. We also guy who's very fascinated by Mitch wish Naski the punter for the Niners eight. Oh, five wish now ski was the steel of the fourth round, and he goes on to say that wish Naski is the Steph curry of punting, I have heard, and I didn't like that pick at the time because I was hoping that the forty Niners. You know, who have a severe need in the secondary in my mind would take that the Florida safety, who's on the board. Chauncey Gardiner Johnson. I think his name was three names. But he's a hell of a player instead, they moved back, a few spots, and they took this punter wish Naski. Now they had a need for punter and Lynch. You know, there's two great ones in this draft yet. The Jake Elliott Jake Bailey, I should say from the Stanford cardinal, and then you've got which Mitch wish Naski from Utah, and supposedly the, you know, and I saw him a little bit on the first minicamp, that he's getting, like five second hang time on these punts. So that means the coverage units are going to be there to make a play. So I mean a big time punter. I mean, you don't need a big time punter until you need a big time punt. Right. God, you've got Ray guy. You're glad you got Shane Lek or you know when you guy first round pick in history, Ray guy. Yes. And talk about being way way number one as a kid, exactly. Place kicker in both by Davis, Ryan. So, hey, just for fun, Edwin and Mantica. I think the answer is the warriors are terrible salary cap position. Whether Durant stays are goes. But make your case you're on KABC are. Well, I, I guess that's why I was calling. I don't know what the Ballard recap and you can't get. In other words, you're not going to be able to go out and get a guy for thirty million if Durant lead, they're, they're over the cap. Yeah. So when you're over the cap, you, can you know you can retain your own players if you own their bird rights, but you if you're over the cap, and you lose that player, if you're still over the cap, you'll only have your mid level and your mini mid level, so they have a five point seven mid level exception. They can split it up. And I believe there's the mini mid level, which is like two point one or two point two so they can get a couple of players that way, then they can they can fill in with minimum guys and and draft picks. I would imagine that you can expect the warriors to pick somebody at twenty eight pick somebody at fifty eight probably wanted up with a third guy that show lake up. Well, it sounds like the Lakers the warriors and a few other teams are interested in buying second round picks. And there's a bunch of teams around the league that are interested in. Selling second round picks. For whatever reason I don't understand that. But if they can buy a second round pick, you could have one, I two seconds and your mid level, and your mini mid level. And that's it. That is it and it just guys off the street. Yeah. By the way, do you know who the from men tika is an NBA coach, you know, for Mantica? Brooke as he's actually, right? You can continue one one more you you want. There you go. Let's all ride the water slides together. Yeah, I got one for there, yet Mantica there. But Edwin you had a follow up question what we follow up before. Well, I was gonna say, so if they're already over the salary cap that they must be paying some penalties for that probably some tax or whatever. Why you're here? I'm going to ask Larry. Maybe you've heard it any Mantica that if I just heard this today if they sign Durant the max clay to the max drain on to the max. And of course, Curry's already on the max. And then, of course, the repeater tax and all the tax that comes with that over a ten year period, that would be an extra one point five billion with a B dollars for Joe lake of get anyone point five billion and these from all from all accounts willing in somewhat eager to pay. Yeah. And that's why you might think about that. I mean, a lot of ways Joe lake is your modern daddy, divert. Alot. Do that. If they was gonna do that. Anyway. Kevin Durant decided to sign with New York. Good in the warriors go after coli letter is still. No, no, no. Because they're over the cabin. But let me ask you this. I know people go, I couldn't even figure out what I was talking about, which is not a good not, not a good sign. Not a good take. I guess. But if I'm like and Durant really, I guess my point is I don't think had this. This time nobody agrees with me. But I'm trying to just repeating this take. I know if he if he doesn't if he doesn't want to jump off the Golden Gate Bridge. If Durant doesn't resign. Areas. He's he's, he's trying to win championships. He needs to get that done in the seats for the chase expensive. Yeah. Durant helps in that area as well Joe with, like Taran, and they're willing to do what they need to do to retain. I means that means repeater tax and that means nine hundred million dollars in total cost. He's willing to do it. I mean, they're going to have to reset at some point. But clearly that's a player that they they've made it perfectly clear they're going to go. They're going to offer Klay, Thompson, and, and, and Kevin Durant, this maximum that they're allowed to offer them prostate, get to where he is by just sitting back and okay, fine kind of a soft pedaling everything if you've done, all, you can kiss a guy's ass nonstop, and he's giving it back to you with his great play and all that goes with it. And still a guy, you know, maybe does not want does not want to re sign with you. I, I don't think I think lake of may take even a deep breath and say, all right. He's not going to get. He's not going to in a tizzy Paul his money off the table. Exactly the eleventh hour saying you don't wanna be here. Screw you gotta here. He's not going to do. No, no, no. I didn't say he's not. But my point is is that we're all taking this like, oh my God. If Durant leaves if I'm lake of I'm thinking I don't care if anybody says it's great to win games, but one point six billion dollars is not all on Durant. But then you do get a little financial relief and maybe start your modified rebuild the alert earlier. I'm just saying that's a lot of money to beg to have a guy. Please, please. I want I want to end up for the next ten years. Owing one point six billion just because you heard the expression you have to have asked you. Like that. You might son I forgot, I go home. I swear to God and Spencer now in the summer, you know, you got out of the swear to God, I swear to God, and he goes, he goes dead, what was Larry saying, you have to have an ass to has. No, no, no. And then at least because they were in the car Elise. Then made a joke you go. Yeah. You guys are gonna have to put a thing on there saying, this may not be suitable for children. But he because Ed DeBartolo, one said, you know, if you wanna be a win win, you gotta bring asked to get at, yes. Yes. And it was just so funny, that, that obviously what he remembered. Gotta have money to make money in a guy like Joe lake. Look, Gary bought the thing for four hundred fifty million it's worth three billion dollars. Okay. That would be like the financial resume for most financial investors. This is his toy. This is just his, his his like this is what is his is his hobby. Let me hear his way. He's taken his hobby for four hundred fifty million to three billion dollars. There's nobody that I can think of at has had to go to luxury tax you wanted to. But my point is when you're when you're when you buy an asset for four hundred fifty million and it's worth three billion. What do you care about the luxury tax? You're so far ahead. Why I don't know. Paper, paper, a this, and that you're gonna vent someday. You're gonna sell that team. And you're, you know it's going to be. Let me ask you one more. What if Durant's camp comes back and says, to Joe and believe me, this isn't Bob Myers. This isn't you're dealing with Joe Wright with this kind of money and Guber and Myers is now like this is not Bob Myers. What Bob Myers is just some nut. Bob Myers is fantastic. Just disrespecting Bob. Bob will tell you. That's above my pay grade gets emotional. Yeah. It'd be funny about sports talk radio. They did know could we up his we find that it wasn't really a special about Durant clay. It's really all he he's just always tears up. Whatever. Hey, all right. Okay. You're like of an and I already feel better Durand's camp comes comes to you and says, you know, we'll take a two year deal, you know, one year one year. I'm rehabbing the other year, I think, lake of tells me go, go Howard Schultz yourself. Yeah. No. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. I don't think so. I, I don't think that's ideal. But I think he would I think he would I think he would do that -til. That's one year rehab though, you only get him for one year. I realize doesn't mean get a walk at that end of that, first of all, if he's willing to trade him anytime he wants which was the ISO report. And he's probably wanting to cut any deal that, that that's comfortable with Katie, and that, but that's before I'm just making the point of. hear what you're saying you're gonna pay him for a year to rehab and all you're going to get out of his one year basketball zola report was when durant was coming back right not knowing he was going to miss all next year so that's that's all i'm saying i i hear what you're saying i hear what you're saying but i still think that you know you don't you have endless choices you know what i mean you don't have endless choices well if you can't believe the knicks in brooklyn and and the clippers i guess would lay it out for them that's that's the talk and that's how special player he is he is he's fantastic but i'm just saying at a certain point when you've been with somebody for three years then you kind of think to.

"The thirty second pick in nineteen NFL draft, the San Francisco forty nine select deebo Samuel. They got a better feel for the scheme. People have been a little bit about like, they're outgunned jails and the terminology and stuff and how smart he really did. So I watch like two years ago now that I'm Florida team. In just figure it out. All right deebo Samuel gonna get. Larry's thoughts just for fun of ago. Have look at Mel kiper gave the E give he gave the forty Niners a e minus for a solid B might as just what what he said here is there were two big improvements for John Lynch and the forty Niners reloading the front seven defense. It said NFL record for few as takeaways, and then he mentioned acquiring d Ford, and then he goes down to Nick Bosa saying that the forty Niners got the number one overall player on his board in Nick Bosa. So there you go we know about both. I mean, both obviously is an awesome date. He's day one starter. Right. And now the Niners have a killer defensive line. I mean, the the Niners are loaded on the defensive line right now, and they can have a lot of rush. But you know, as far as takeaways on this draft one is clearly the forty Niners. Believe that their defensive backs who only had two interceptions all year can be improved from within with a better pass rush because they didn't do hardly anything to improve their their secondary. Which was not a great secondary. But they've drafting off a lot of guys gear the last couple of years, and they're, you know, they're the DJ reads, and the akilah Witherspoon and the Adrian Colbert's and Marcel Harris, and you name it. There's a number guys tar various more. They wanna give those guys a chance to grow. So I was expecting. They would have gone defensive back in at the beginning of round four, and they didn't I mean, and they had a chance to Chauncey Gardner Johnson was on the board. He was probably a really really good free safety in the Notre Dame kid Julian love the corner was on the board. And they went punter in Mitch wish now ski and all I would say about Mitch he's you know, he's got a cannon for a leg. And he may be a great punter but upon in the fourth round of seem- seemingly reach but. Bosa is a lock to be day one starter deebo Samuel today is the best wide receiver on the team. I mean, there's some durability concerns about the hamstring. But he is dynamic. I mean, Gary this is an impressive wide receiver who runs angry with the ball in his hands. He's a great route runner and he's a great yards after catch guy. So deebo Samuel is as I said, he's the best received back is what he yet can rack. Okay. A run after the catch is rack yards after the catches yak. Whatever you prefer. I've always felt was a little different you prefer big yak or big rack. I like big yak yak is safer. Yeah. Could save for if you say, hey, Honey, I'm into big rack. That's not good. No. Okay. So that was the first two rounds in the first two rounds. Great. They get around three and they have had a keen Butler from who went to Zona at the top around four. Now, I was just enamored with Butler because of the highlight reel, and I tweeted out no way. No, how would I ever take Jalen Hurd of Baylor? Who's done Hendrickson agent? Is Doug Hendrickson is agent over marshawn Lynch is he hasn't said anything yet officially about. Lynch retiring. No, he hasn't. But I just texted back and forth from yesterday. And I may may try to get Doug on at some point. But the Niners went with Jaylen hurt in round three. And he's an unpolished. Former running back at university of Tennessee ran it was in the slot that here for bail. And he's put up big numbers a productive guy. But he's got drops. He's had some, you know, he's a little bit unpolished and to me that was reach. And I think came Butler, at least they came Butler highlight reel is awesome. But then when you watch Jalen hurts highlight reel you go. You know, what this guy's really exciting and Shanahan. I'll I'll defer to Shanahan on wide receivers. I mean, he's he found Kendrick born. He's you know, he's found trend Taylor. He's he's got a pretty good. I for wide receiver talent. And so he likes Jalen hurt. I like to Kim Butler. And to me, I think Butler will be better though. Both playing this division that the exact same size six five to twenty five but the Niners what with heard and that was a little bit of a surprise. And then the punter in the fourth round is way way way too early for punter. I mean, come on seriously, the guy better be Ray guy. If he's not Ray guy. What are you doing guy was number one pick? Right. He was the first round. I know. But I mean the Niners. Already used a seventh round pick a few years ago on Pinon. And it just seems like I mean, I thought those about one hundred picks before I would have picked a punter, but they needed a punter. So in this guy's needed, or did you son that they really needed a punt? No, no, they they needed a punter. They need to punter in. This guy's got a canon of legs from Australia. The problem. I would have is that he you know, he picked at Utah in in altitude. And I don't know what he's going to do at sea level. But that's round four around five. They went linebacker Drake greenlaw Mark and saw and I love this pick because this kid ran four five three at his pro day, and he's incredibly productive in the best conference in America. He's five eleven so he went in the fifth round. But dr- height doesn't mean that much. I'll take a five eleven guy who can move and Dray greenlaw a great pick. And then around six they went to Stanford tight end cadence Smith who ran for nine two in the forty which is slow as hell, but I will say this. This is a guy. This is a good. Football player. He gets off the line quickly. He catches the ball in a crowd and takes a huge hit and hold on. And he'll be kit will already runs like the wind. Cadence Smith will be a terrific backup tight end or number two tight end with the Niners. So that was a pretty good pick in the sixth round. They took a an offense of tackle from Vanderbilt in round six only given up one career sack and that was to Josh Allen. But I don't know a lot about him just in school. And then they went with Tim Harris corner out of Virginia in the sixth round. I don't know anything about him either. But he's a big corner and pro football focus had a third round grade on them any went in the six round. So just to sum it up. I would say Niners huge home run with both huge home run with deebo the wild card of the Strath without a doubt is heard I like Butler more than heard Shanahan, you know. Obviously knows a whole lot more than I do the fourth round punters seems like a reach the fifth round linebackers seems like a steel, and then I'll say this. We won't get into the names. But the Niners picked up about twelve guys or at least not official yet. But twelve guys after the draft undrafted free agents last year, they hit, you know, Mullins undrafted free agent Brita undrafted free agent Kendrick born undrafted free agent. They got a real good. I for this. And they picked up four or five guys after the draft undrafted guys Kevin givens from Penn State, and and some other guys there's one they have a sleet dra-, they got a six eight hundred fifty five pound defensive end at a UAB who I really liked his name is Jamal Garcia Williams. So we'll see we'll see what they ultimately signed. But a lot of people are going to pan their draft because heard is a little bit. I think a lot of people had him in the fifth round. They took him in the third in the punter in the fourth always is easy easy thing to say what the hell punter in the fourth round. And all my buddies were Niner fans are like what the hell with Lynch in the punter in the in the fourth round. But if you get a great punter. Nobody cares. Strike because he'll he'll be there for all. Right. And just to finish off Kuyper. He says Mel Melkite. I liked the direction the forty Niners going, even if I don't love all of these pick. So that time will tell on this stuff. But I I think they hit with some of their after the draft stuff. And you know, they get they get the best wide receiver on their team. And maybe their best weapon outside of Kittle in Samuel. And they get you know, between Bosa and deformed outside Armstead and Buckner inside. That's your first team D line. Your second team D line is Salman Thomas. Ronald Blair Sheldon day, DJ Jones. I mean, that's a really nice second tier line. Your third your, you know, your threes on the D line are going to be contagious street to mantra more Julian Taylor and this undrafted rookie at Penn State. Kevin givens. I mean, that's that's you know, that's three that's three layers of. Starting defensive lineman. I think they're loaded up front. Yeah. For those of you into what is seventeen eighteen year old tweeted, and there's a lot of people that, you know, following the Bosa story from that angle. Trump didn't do them any any favors over the weekend. Trump gave a a campaign rally type speech in Green Bay on Saturday night and talked about Bosa and how he is followed. He loves put what Trump is doing. And and went on for a couple of minutes. And this was all my buddy. Kevin just sent me. A text drinking the Kool aid on the Niners draft. I see. Oh, well, we want a cool eight. I mean, I who laid me. Well, you you know, when I just laid it out there for you. I laid it out there for you. I mean, the forty Niners clearly loved Jimmy ward they re signed him despite his injury history. They they had a chance at a couple of really good free safeties. They passed they like Jimmy ward. So I mean, I would have gone with chancy Gardner Johnson and round. Four over the punter. And 'cause I Tim is a free safety and to me he was a plug and play guy, and I probably would have gone with keen Butler over Jalen Hurd. But you know, what Shanahan knows an awful lot. And heard I mean, who does an athlete and he's got big ten inch hands. He was really really productive Shanahan. Obviously must have a plan for how we want to use heard. He could be tight end runner receiver. I'd rather have Butler, but you know, overall, I would say I'd give the Niners solid..

"So we were talking about this act loafing, right? And just kind of what how big this summer is. Right. It's so big. It's pretty damn huge. I would agree. It is pretty damn huge. So we were kind of extrapolating and speculating, right? What happens if they strike out? What's LeBron going to be like, yeah? How is he going to feel will he push them to make moves? They don't wanna make will they consider trading. It's only his legacy on the line. Right. He what I mean? Like you. Gotta get the coach, right? You gotta get the guy at team, right? You've got to do this right next year. I don't know if you can get it. Right. Right. But I can you get it better. I don't know if they have the infrastructure to get it, right, right? Which leads me back to that. Well, billions watch that show. I don't I want to. That's like the next show that you have to watch. 'cause like everything in the world you. Can you can just learn so much because there's so much watching billions, right? But this latest episode I won't tell the whole story 'cause I don't wanna give it away. But one of the main characters is basically gonna get publicly humiliated by someone like by rival with an agenda. Right. Who has some dirt on him? And he's gonna have to withdraw from the attorney general's race in in order to stop this information for coming out. And everyone was like, well, you gotta you just gotta do it. You gotta you gotta just bow out. You can't let yourself be humiliated that way in this. And the guy's dad system ever give up. Right. Yeah. For the last law and the guy gets in front of the Mike and instead of withdrawing from the race, he decides to just say everything himself, all the most embarrassing all the stuff that everyone thinks his career is over. Now. He's going to challenge. He's gonna challenge the world to accept him. And just it's it's like he's into he's into like, right, right? Okay. Ray guy. Yeah. Just shades. It's like fifty shades of grey. So he just decides to like say it out there and challenge and he framed it he discussed in such a way that he becomes this like hero York. And he wins the race. And the point is you have to be willing to do everything. Right. Nothing can be off the table. Like, nothing even. Saying your most embarrassing awful thing. Right. Has to be off. It has to be on the table. Yeah. And I think that's how important this summer is for the Lakers like they have to be willing to everything. So if they don't get them great free. That's just option one, right? You have to be one trade you have to be willing to get anyone. You have to be willing to do whatever you need to do to get a better team around LeBron James because you you cannot allow next year to be like this year. Just can't agree. You have cap space the window closes before you have to pay the kid lottery pick you have a lottery, pick whatever you have to do by any means necessary. You have to do it. And if you don't do it. They've got gonna get way ugly. They have tools to work with. Yeah..

"Great play. He dating was what did you do your head? You think of it and neater talk about even when they talk about maybe a weakness or a bad play. It's always like, it's a minor. But it's always like, so how are we going to fix this? Right. Like, it's it's always a positive attitude. Like, it's it's softball questions that. Yeah. Yeah. It's really it's really good stuff. So is this Jon Gruden the coach talking or is this Jon Gruden the analysts talking maybe they're Morphing into the same person. They're fusing. It does make interesting too. I will I will point this out that Mike Mayock is now the general manager for the raiders nil. Say what you want about him and have your opinions on if you think it's a good move or bad move. But regardless Mike Mayock is very close to the college game. That's his thing. If Al you waiting college players thing. So Mike Mayock. I'm sure has seen the trends in the NFL from college. He seems to be general manager that would be more keen to the way the game is changing just because he doesn't really spend a whole time on the NFL, his focus is majority college football. So. Maybe the mix there has the raiders thinking differently than what we thought John. Put that concerns you not draft wise because he can scout draft picks extremely well. No doubt about that. But when it comes down to free agency when it comes down to signing players is he qualified to be general manager. Well, the thing is is that Gruden is first and foremost, let's be on. He's the top guy. We have. Yes, we have to. Let's just go down to the to the bare bones here. Jon Gruden is the decision maker for the owners like, that's fact. Yeah. Sentenced tones two hundred million dollar contract period. Mike Mayock sure he's a general manager, but he does not have more power than Gruden. Forte gruden's forte his strength is the NFL game. His strength is evaluating fell players. Now, we don't know if that means that he's going to make the right free agent signings or anything like that. But what we know about Jon Gruden is that yes, he studied those quarterbacks in college. But he does he didn't spend a lot of time studying college, whereas Mike Mayock his whole is. Ten years draft. Is he promoted scout in your mind? Well, the thing is I understand the I understand the duo you have Gruden who's likely going to make decisions on free agents on who to sign who to release who extend things like that. And then you got a guy like mayo coup, I think is going to be heavily heavily draft oriented college to hey, we're going to go watch these calls seems play. We're gonna studied this called film. Not that other gyms don't, but other GM's will have a more of a mix in my opinion of NFL manager's job. Right. Exactly. And they delegate those things too. And now Gruden in hammers kinda splitting down right right in reality. Gruden is have general manager and full head coach. Yeah. May ox got the other being congenital if we're being completely on us. Jon Gruden is president of the Oakland Raiders like he he has the CEO above him, Mark Davis. And then from there on it's Gruden that's going to make the decisions on our gave is making no way. Well, Mark Davis is I mean he is making decisions trust. He's he gave he's the guy. Yeah. What I'm that's what I was saying gave the ten year contract to handle everything football oriented, and that's like finances. That's all Mark Davis shirt. But whatever it takes for Grinham give him a winning team heading into Vegas. He's gonna let him do it. So do you see the raiders actually fording with the idea of drafting Cuyler Murray if he's available to them at their pick? I think they're pick raiders have been or the raiders have been infamous for these weird draft picks in certain situations. So I wouldn't be I would be like, okay. Sure. That's that. I can see it happening. Because remember they drafted spach Jankowski in the first round. Do they drafted Ray guy? The punter in the first round. The jet today was Herod Jay Belsky was actually a decent traffic. But he easily could have got him on the fifth round or six. Maybe we don't know that..

"To your. Field. And from that to Heather. On twitter. I want to go get some details. But we are hearing. He is in times. Congratulations. My favorite Edgar memory, which I don't know if anyone else will even have this memory except for me. Eagle heart. Actual best eagle hardware guarding commercial. Where's Edgar Martinez like Mesa messing around in the woodworking area? And there was like what is he doing? I have a little and he's like working on stuff. And at the end, he's. My favorite. Edgar moment. My kids were toddlers the year that the M's just had a fabulous year one hundred sixteen games, and I turned the games on in the background while we're playing, and my guy is listening to the crowd chant. Edgar and he looks up first word out of this kid's mouth ever Edgar. Did this day? I can't tell that story at home. Because my my husband says, no he said, dad get. Yes. He said dad, I sure Edgar was a classic awesome. Mike Lewis went on social media. They you are you're afraid, man. You said I'm gonna get torn apart. So Mike Lewis turned to be the sinecure a little bit. I wasn't me and a cynic nora's I being a skeptic. I'm merely said and actually I'm happy that he's in the hall of fame. I said one I am not if I'm a nationally guy by from birth. I am not a fan of the designated hitter. I have never been I think it does not belong in baseball. However, the any arguments about whether or not someone should be in the hall of fame if they are designated hitter is moot. If you make it a legal position in your sport, punter and football, just happened in the hall of fame Ray guy, if it's a legal position at absolutely should be hall of fame eligible, and if you're going to make it hall of fame as eligible, obviously Edgar Martinez should be in there. But I said, I don't like the D H, which usually gets people. Kinda riled. Randy Johnson who entered the hall of the Diamondbacks. He was talking about Edgar Martinez. And he said I faced a lot of hall of fame hitters and all my gosh. Edgar was the best hitter that I ever saw. He did so much for Seattle. He made me look good during my career there. The first person on my ballot. Who would get my vote is Edgar and one other funny sort of Edgar related story. So that I can call of the of the double right? We all know about it from nineteen ninety-five the photographer who took that shot that everyone knows about Ken Griffey junior looking up from home plate and smiley. Everyone forgets his arm around and right next to him era. But the the funny thing about it is the photographer who took that photo. Once said, I think she I don't know if she was working for the Associated Press of the at the time that was the moment was so tense. She had forgotten to replace the film. Our camera back for kids. This is before before. Cameras had digital photography and memory cards. She had forgotten replace the film in her camera because the moment was so fried. And no one wanted to set anything down that picture. That's probably the most famous photo in Seattle sports history was the last picture in the role. And if it had if it had happened a second later, she would have actually not gotten that picture if you wanna share Edgar memories nine eight nine seven three you're pointing at Andrew you never pointed answer. But you're pointing let you know that he's Andrew the producer will speak. But you turn your mic on. It's a thing. We do here at the radio which got the official announcement here if you would like to hear yes, Edgar being inducted. Let's do that over eighteen seasons with the Seattle. Mariners. Edgar bed at three twelve with three hundred.

"Flying back from canton, Ohio after the hall of fame ceremonies in August. I looked around the plane sitting in front of me was hall of fame. Punter Ray guy across the aisle one row up for me was a hall of Famer Joe Delana Lear the off a one row in front of him was hall of Famer Lawrence Taylor and sitting one row behind me to the right was hall of Famer. Tony dungy? Aha. So as I'm saying myself, if this plane goes down, it will be five hall of famers, and others parents may be another. I would have been another. Okay. Being another in that group. And that's a nice way of saying. We are delighted to be joined on the shell Pennzoil performance line. Thankfully, someone who did not perish in that plane crash hall of Famer Tony Dungy joining us on the shell Pennzoil performance line taking synthetic motor oil performance to a whole new level. Make the switch to Pennzoil synthetics today. Tony thanks for being here. And thanks for being with us. It's always a curious time. When we go through this hiring process in the NFL. Is it getting weirder? The way we're hiring head coaches. Well, I think it is. And I take all you have to look back to two thousand sixteen. There were seven head coaches hired the last one was Doug Peterson. Everyone says, oh where did they get the Peterson from this is terrible. This is awful. The eagles didn't do their homework. They got a guy five years out of high school. Is the only one left and he went to the Super Bowl, so obvious. We don't really know. We don't know what I heard your, you know. Promo before I got on. And it is it's we're stuck right now thinking that the key is getting a quarterback coach or an offense coordinator. That's what I need and. Some of these offense coordinator, they're going to be great head coaches. But the thing is owners, I don't think they understand you have to look for leadership leadership can come from John is a special teams coach or as a defensive coach or song McVay as young offenses genius leadership comes in all packages. And that's what they need to be looking for something else that has been going on with this as you heard as we are opening the segment. Eight coaches were fired five African American coaches were fired. None have been hired and they're still two more openings if they go to a white head coaches that would leave three minorities. Anthony Lynn, Mike Tomlin, Iran Rivera's, head coaches in the NFL Rooney rule, I in place a lot of people say, it's not working Tony. What's what's going on with this? And what could be the remedy for this? Well, it it's it's not working because it's two reasons it's not working number one. Some people are just. Using it and not following the spirit of the interview minority coaches to get through the process, that's one problem. And then the second is it's where you're looking. What's what's the thought process is when you talk about those three minority coaches, Ron Rivera minority defensive coach has been to a Super Bowl, Mike katelyn minority defensive coaches on a Super Bowl. Anthony Lynn minority running back coach may take it and go to goal this year. So that just kind of echoes my point it doesn't have to be quarterback coach. Now, we know that that there's not a lot of. That's why I said at the beginning of the cycle. I didn't think minority coach be hired because everybody's focused on quarterback and offense coordinator. And so you look at fire and left. What's first offense coordinator Airbnb excuse me? I your quarterback coach. The enemy. I hear all central coordinator. There just aren't that many candidates? So that's the only place we're going to look for head coaches. It's gonna be a problem and Vic Fangio. John. Elway for for making that higher. But most people are copycat most. I'm you try to get a young offensive coordinator. And you may be bypassing some Bergara talented guy talking to Tony Dungy on the shell Pennzoil performance line. Tony, I'm interested in that regard. Because we've heard a lot of people saying over the past few days that you're right. The pipeline is not exactly full of head coaching candidates minority. Head coaching candidates on that side of the football, especially but just in general when it comes to that when it comes to empowering and filling those pipelines did you as an African American head coach fuel pressure to bring along and empower other African American other minority candidates in assistant head coaching positions and things like that to try and understand how difficult it was for you and others is that something that you felt internally or externally it's something I definitely want to do. I didn't feel any pressure. But I wanted to do that. And I wanted to demonstrate that a lot of these guys. We're very talented. So I had that position of assistant head coach not filled with hermit Tim Colwell, Leslie free and just tried to kind of propped them up, and so people these guys are talented guys. I felt an obligation to hire some minority coaches. And and most of them were on the defensive side for me, but I was promised to bring lovey Smith and Colwell and Mike Tomlin into the NFL and kind of give them their first opportunities in the NFL, and they took it from there so often it's about getting that opportunity and birth Aaron. Down here in Tampa. And he's excited to bring some of his group back, but he's got Beilin left with top bowl in place in places of leadership on the offensive and defensive side of the ball. So that's pretty awesome to say hopefully will continue to get this going in the opposite direction as it's been the last few years. Tony Dungy hall of Famer with us, right? Let's go on the field. Tony and talk about the divisional round. You have only one quarterback you could trust in this game. Would it be Andrew lock or like you hall of Famer Patrick Mahomes? I'll tell you what I watched Patrick Mahomes all all of him. He's been sensational. Not just throwing the ball and running around the Vikings play just that he has really running this entire offense that Andy Reid head. They have had to scale back at all. Plays all of these different things. He he's been great. But Andrew luck has been there. He's been in the playoffs, by the way. He's thirty nine touchdown. So I think we're gonna have a great name. And I think both defense is going to be in trouble. This. How different will it be though, four Patrick Mahomes who looks like he's going to be the MVP. This year buddy is never played in the plant. We talk about preseason and the step up you take the regular season. And then the step up you take to the playoffs. So he never played in. It has a great coaching Andy Reid behind him. But how do you prepare them? What do you say to him? How do you deal with the fact that he's playing his first playoff game you kill him? Everything's the same football and ruin everything the same. But it is. John Watson who hadn't. We struggle. All kind of overwhelmed the league with this running style. We saw him in his first game struggle. Mitch trubisky. Played very well. But still only put up fifteen point. So it is different in in the playoffs. Patrick Mahomes has handled every test in every time. He's been sensational. I expect him to be great. But he may not be just as great as he's been on the regular season. Tony I'm fascinated because we talk about that with young players as it gets to be different this time of year. And then we've got an older player veteran player in Nick foles who despite what the rest of his career is told us these past two postseason has been sensational. How do you explain what we've seen out of Philadelphia's quarterback these last two postseason runs? American cover because NBC head to the Super Bowl. But I think it really his. His Christian faith. He says there's nothing that bothers him and his game. He doesn't think about what I have. Listen, it's pretty clear that they believe in Saint Nick, there's there's no question about that. And they have an interesting decision to make in the off season with us twenty point six million dollars team option. Tony Dungy with us hall of Famer Tony we saw three road teams win in the wildcard round three out of four to six isn't a five move on. And we always project. Sometimes oh, look what happened on wildcard. We can this team played so well, and I think we forget that the teams that didn't play wildcard weekend didn't play for a reason because they were the better teams. And sometimes we project things based on the wild card weekend. Forget that the teams that didn't play earned that by. So what what do you see as potential upsets by any of these road teams in the divisional round? Why look at the AFC because I think you're right. Trey usually when you're all the better team. But the charges have a better record than the team. There are playing the patriots. We can disregard that if we want to patriots head that mistake. They have Tom Brady gets get. They've got a lot of things for them. But char. Played very good football. They have a good team. Andrew luck has been hot Ken out of their last eleven they warned they're playing good football Kansas City. You look at their last eleven they have a ten of their last eleven so they've got a federal records. But I don't know that there were playing better football at the end. So I think these F B dynamite. And I wouldn't be surprised if an upset in either one of those to me is a little different the home team played well at home. Aram? Are going to be very tough even though Philadelphia Dallas playing good football. Well, if that happens Tony them, we're looking at it potentially AFC championship game in Los Angeles for cozy twenty eight thousand fans in a newly named. Dignity health center stadium. Tony it is a delight to have you on and really nice to have you around still. So we. I was thinking, Trey wingo and five others. Go down. The people that would write that headline would be my uncle everyone else would write it the other way. Tony great to talk to you today. Thanks, tony. Thanks to him to be really nice. Exactly. Right. Everyone else. They kick it out. Just be wondering how you got in the first class. And that's exactly right. What you're talking about coming up. "Uneasy feeling at Soldier Field. Is Cody parkey took the field right steps out there. Because you don't know what's going to happen. That's real drama in sports. You think reality television is what you see from black ink. And what you see from the real housewives? No reality television is sports depending on what you turn on reality television is when you have a kicker that's missed over ten kicks. And he steps out there when opportunity to advance not just him the entire team to the next level. He controls whether or not is vacation time next weekend. Or if they're gonna move on and played another team live for another day, that's reality television. And that's exactly what we saw Cody parkey coming out there. And of course, he gets ice. By Doug Peterson. And he kicks a field goal through the uprights. Then when he's supposed to get it done whether the ball's tipped with the ball's not tipped he didn't get it done. And ultimately the bears and get it done as the bears. Go home. As I always say, you don't know what. Tomorrow brings in this national football. You have no idea Utah reality as much as we've seen this bears team flourish winning the NFC north being able to have a strong defense. The one thing that we don't know is only be celebrating the bears MC nor championship next year. No idea. It's not quite like, the NBA is quite like college football in the National Football League. You just never know as we talk about the bears would Jonathan hood on ESPN thousand of the SPN out. Let's review some things here. From what I've seen from Mitchell Trubisky, and I don't know that between nine and six hundred this whole thing of Trubisky truth IRS, and people that believe let let me let me just tell you something before we dive into this. If you believe in Mitchell Trubisky as a quarterback on this football team. I can understand why you feel that way. If you like one of these, quote, unquote, true believers TRU believers, and you believe the Mitchell Trubisky, I understand why you feel that way. You know, why you feel that way? It's because you're anti Cutler because of all the years of Cutler and the Cutler for t- that was the Malays across the city. The reason why you feel that way is because you're so tired of color. You just want to see something new and that new was not going to be my Glennon. You know, it wasn't going to be him. Right. So you just want to believe in something. And I totally get it with a young quarterback. You wanna believe in Mitchell Trubisky? But what you need is a dose of reality. Every hour of the years is that you should root for him. You should hope that he's able to get better in the next few years because what I saw with Chris Collins worth saw. And what people that follow this National Football League year in a year out numbers wise, we see a one read quarterback. That's what he is at times this year. And that is the hallmark of a young quarterback learning on the fly. You see you've seen NFL games? Right. And you've seen I your quarterbacks picking up quickly. I was totally wrong about Patrick Mahomes. The second had no idea that he would be this good on this level after watching at Texas Tech. I know what he was running at Texas Tech. I just didn't know he'd be this good on this level. It just there's a synergy there with Eric the enemy and Andy Reid and Kansas City where Mahomes running what he ran pretty much in college. And it just works. You see veterans like drew Brees? And how they're able to be prolific throwing the ball down the field getting huge yardage. But every for every cornerback for every Patrick Mahomes. There's a Josh Rosen. For every drew Brees. There's a Mitchell Trubisky. That's not a knock on Trubisky. But there's still room for improvement with them. Because as much as I'm disappointed in the blocked. Punt blocked kick rather as much as I'm disappointed in that block kick in that miss kick. Bottom line is is that there are many opportunities for the bears to be able to score. So they wouldn't come down to that. But I just I'm not gonna go into the game of Trubisky is terrible Trubisky is the greatest because it's not either one of those things Comiskey is not horrible. I know what horrible looks like that was. When he was here. The tall giraffe. He was terrible. You saw this right? And so it's not terrible. It's not great. It's somewhere in between. And then in between. We'll tell you a greater story than I can ever tell you about. What Trubisky is going to be? We have some callers that were angry about the bears loss and rightfully so on Sunday night. We had a caller that called in and said that Trubisky will never be great now going to be a dream killer. Not going to do that by. Wow, we'll tell you is. What's real is that the numbers will tell you that after Bisky looks at Robinson looks at Burton looks at one of his receivers there's panic that sets in where he runs with the football. And I will say something that probably should have said ten fifteen years ago when I'm defending the Kordell Stewart's, Michael vixen, the Randall Cunningham way before that in that you can run with the football. But it can't be the number one thing that you do as can be the most it can't be the thing that you're most comfortable with that can't be in this National Football League. Sorry, you still as talented as somebody's quarterbacks are two of them went down this past weekend. The Shawn Watson who has a canon and arm confide anybody opens we run with the football. And that was limited. Same thing with the young, man. At Baltimore running the football has its limitations and same thing with Mitchell Trubisky same situation, you must be able to have presence in the pocket, and you must be able to establish better rapport with the receivers it just it was good. But it was not great. I always talk about the balance. Right. You must balance if if Khalil Mack who wasn't that great by the way on Sunday, but others were able to step up when he was not great when your defense is as good as it is the offense must be able to if you can't match it you better get damn close, you better get closer. And so that's why expect for next season that the offense has to get better. When it comes to the kicker, and Cody parkey for years nine million for kicker that missed a lot of kicks. Can I tell you something if unless his name is Ray guy or Ali Haji Sheikh that does not getting that kind of money. For me, especially multiple years like that. I don't care where he's from. And so the one thing that the bears did not fix trying to fix their defense by being able to upgrade by having Khalil Mack. They're able to get better off pensively try to do some things there. But the one thing they didn't fixes the social is their their whole thing with the kicking game. And with a special teams. So one thing they didn't change one thing that they should have been able key on you knew that was storyline coming into the playoffs because how many kicks that man missed. That's that's football. I go to ESPN dot com. And I see all the NFC north writers from Detroit. Green bay. Minnesota talk about what they need to do for the off season. Jeff Dickerson writes the beers. Probably can't keep Cody parkey even if they wanted to after he missed the game winner in Chicago's playoff loss to the eagles. He missed eleven total kicks this season. After the bears signed him to a four year deal that included nine million dollars guaranteed money. Nine million guaranteed to a kicker. Hey, Ray guy. Can't you chic? How's that? We'll see that hot on the streets. The bears have struggled at kicker you've ever since that they released Robbie gold who coincidentally will be a free agent after making any two of his eighty five field goals over the past three seasons for the giants and forty Niners thoughts there from Jeff Dickerson. Let's hear now from Matt Nagy the head coach for the bears because no matter parkey and his exploits. It comes down to the quarterback making more place. Give the eagles defense credit when I give the eagles defense credit. That's not trying to give Trubisky in the offense. A pass it has worked out with me. The offense should have been able to provide more even though the eagles defense was very good. What's on the line? They stopped Trubisky from running the football. And guess what? If he's not gonna run the ball. He's looking around like, well, where am I gonna put this football hands receivers? Hopefully, right. Oh, man. There was there was a lot more occur and more than I expected because Burton wasn't there. I heard this story line to before I hear from Matt Nagy? This also Burton wasn't there. So the bears offense was screwed up. No. The mistake was made in which they could not get into the end zone enough. I guess eagles at home. Here's Matt Nagy. Just a guy that that continued to make plays. He's done it all year long. He's made plays when he's had to we looked at each other with whatever time under a minute to go. We we knew we were going to move the ball and go down there and and have an opportunity and he did that. And he looked at me. He gave me a smile, and I said, you know, I just told him I said, this is where the story begins and he did it. He did a great job. I was just telling somebody in there. No, one not one person truly knows how far that kid has come the sheer than me. And I mean, we're we're lucky we're lucky to have he's I'm looking forward to the future. Really because the city Chicago's lucky to have that kid at quarterback. We're going to find out. It's like you say it's one thing to talk about how lucky Chicago is. But if you have not grown from this year, then when will the offense get better because that's the whole thing. Remember, I I've been watching bears football all my life. I've seen the bears and the playoffs fourteen times in my life. And more times than not as you well know, whether your baby boomer, whether you're gen-xer, whether you are a millennial the one hallmark of beers football is the defense is strong when they're good and the offense is pulling up the rear. That's not good enough. Especially in today's NFL where it's about offense. Right. It's it seems simple to me. I'm just. I'm just drawing the dots of what's obvious. I've got like this. This crossword puzzle for like two year olds it's pretty it's pretty clear what's happening here. Now, you've got to be able to answer those questions Trubisky on how far he's come this season. I feel like I've come a long way. But I also feel like I'm really just getting started. There's a lot I can still improve on and just the season and experiences like that in the end. We're definitely just gonna motivate me even more for the future hungrier than ever. And I can't wait to get back to work and get started. I think the future is bright and just very thankful for all the fans that have stuck through with us all season long is a low really fond Caesar. I appreciate the way we stuck together family, and we we all grew in different areas. Thought I got better, but I'm just scratching the surface. Hopefully, I notices this experience. I'm just gonna do our reflecting and make sure that I get better than this. And it motivates me to become the best player. Possibly can. So hit me up on Twitter, Twitter dot com. So when he goes on on the show there. Isn't even thought of like, you know, I'm wrong. It's like he's believe in what he's saying and everybody can tell 'cause he's selling it hard. So whenever the internet reacts, he doesn't even like us fucking internet. My people around me are all in which is a by the way, very successful model if it's been a very successful model, but when it comes to this type of stuff, there's no self awareness. I keep waiting for the just say, oh, you know, I his shoulders hurt. He's going to be out just letting stay out. But because if you're just go for the first pick you can do that with your backup. Well, the raiders were also trying to do that too. It's a battle right now for that first pick. I don't know if anybody's just going to be able to fall into that you gonna have to earn it. You're gonna have to trade away every fucking player you have if you want that first bit. And then my last nominee for the word for this week is since we're recording some money, whoever buffalo starts tonight. Whoever brothers Peterman or fucking Derek Anderson. It's gonna be shit show. Well, there you have it that was the nominees for this week's this glossing Tibo Gabbard Sanchez shove also relief. Russell for Buller line at Winky Harrington. David Carr award. This is your to live players in the league right now on the loose off while they're still in there. I mean, I could've put I could've what Peterman I gotta put some people in the league. You know? It's just the great the great sewers in the league right now. We're in the list, Ray guy has an award because he's done, you know, and whenever he was in the you don't just give out awards for people that are still in. They don't put statues up for people are still in writing. It's once you've completed your career failure that you get added to the clawson's liner. Smith whenever retired jerseys. You still need to wear it. About someone on the opposite end of the spectrum that we just talked about like AP. I thought he was done. Awesome tessies. He's he's unstoppable. He's defined time. So he was in what the saints. They wouldn't give them the rock. So he threatened, Sean, Payton's life goes. The cardinals games first game. He scores has then you don't give them the rock or something happens. He gets hurt. And then they signed with the Redskins. Everybody's saying the right signing to everybody saying the Redskins are stupid, though. They're saying it's a waste of money. And then all of a sudden that horse gets out there. "Making some time here so that it's great to have you. Obviously the journey is fascinating, but let's dive right in on where your team is right now after a start that had a good deal of uncertainty, a huge last minute win this past weekend, insensitivity. How would you describe what that win meant to your team? At this point in the season was huge workforce. It was. We feel like it was the most win, very important game, especially going into a by we, we wanted to be able to have that good taste in mouth and keep them momentum. Going start to season slow at big winner, Cincinnati. Exactly what we need. You know, we're going to talk a lot about the team and kind of like your role with the team now relative to Levy on bell. But let's just talk about you for a minute. You know, when you knew that you were going to be the God that you're going to be someone who's going to be talented on running past game protection and with the ball. On your hand, what did people say to you? At the beginning of the season. Anybody come up to you and adviser to coach Tomlin and the guy just kind of let you go and let you be your own your own guy. That's exactly what they did. Coach t my teammates. This let me be me. Never tried to be nobody else, just new, what hard work. And I knew myself talent would I had a minute. Things would go into motion and work out well, so the off season was big off season for me working out every day train really hard for the situation I was with whether or not there was going to be a hold out or or anything like that. So this mentally ready physically ready, and they just let me be myself. What did you know of loving on's plans before the season began? Well, when other rookie in Lord, I ain't going to training camp here to. I didn't know if he was gonna show up again. So was like, you know what? My momma prepare like the start for the situation that may be possible. And that's what it is. That's where we're at right now and sorta hard work than off as a teammate levian Bill as a teammate. How's he been with you even in your first year and in the off season this year, you have much contact with them. Have you had contact with them all? Has he tried. To advise you through this and you'll say, look, even though I'm not there, let me help you out and try and keep you going to give you some tips. Yeah, we're not face to face obviously, you know, but he always lets me know what I'm doing well and, and let me know what things are going. Right. So let person already said Ray guy. You know, it's just the business aspect of it. You know, I'll start looking at people, you know, going to judge them and stuff, but no, I can get a vice when whenever and he's a great person. So I had a support a tweet of some things that you've done. So that was public, but privately, he's been in contact as well. What, what conversations have you been having with him as this season has gone up? No long conversations, but just let me know him the right things. Let me know him doing well. You have to big plays stuff. You seem to tweet and everything and I got text from so things are good between us. Look, people try to keep things in house in the locker room and you don't wanna let a lot of things out there because really it doesn't know good for you guys, although it does a lot of good for us because there's a lot of stuff to talk about, but really internally as much as you can tell us, what is it? What? What's the feeling towards Levy on in the locker room? Because you know early in the season, you know. I myself and we talked a lot about it on this show that it seemed like some people were annoyed with him with how he was approaching his contract situation. But in the event when he does come back, how do you think the team will receive it? I'm not sure. Okay..

"It's still are sewn. It's good when we loves. I guess he loves Goodwin George Kittles tight end and the running back, I dunno McKinnon all of a sudden lead, say dangerous. Like he's, he's like a major thirty dollar fantasy running back sleeper. I don't. He's banged up Braida. I dunno neighboring Alfred Morrison just now for more. I don't like his receivers at the strong up the middle. You know, they, I think kiddo is going to be good. I thought he was good for them stretch. I love watching. Jimmy, j. mechanics are great, and they signed Sherman to as a big show. But does he have anything left that one word me? That's a two year injury. They have an easy schedule towards the end if they could stick around Denver Seattle, Chicago before finishing at the Rams three of the first four on the road there at Minnesota at KC and at the chargers. Five for six, five primetime games for this team. People like Jimmy. Oh my goodness. I six. And I said, there's another team in the division. I like a lot more though that we haven't gotten to yet. I'm gonna say, surprise you. Six. Ten last year. I say six and ten this year under eight and a half I'm going over. I think. I mean, I'm sorry under I think too much right. And to me, this was like a three year plan. You get Jimmy. They traded a really good second round pick to to. Even get him. Yeah, and it seems like next year is year for them. He'll take his lumps ISO. I'd like Seattle. Let's get to Seattle on. There's eight the under minus one eighty. You're gonna. You're gonna make big if you like the over here. I'm not locked in on this yet. I really want I think next week when we do get the lines, my final verdict. Okay. But. If you talking about like an actual sleeper, I think Seattle fits the Bill. People have written them off completely. They're done. The ouija boom is over. This is this is terrible. Team is rebuilding year. Their run is over all that stuff. Yeah. And then you actually look at it and you read the stories. Chris Carson has been like incredible preseason training. What you just said there. What I'm just telling you like killing it, he has to like, but by far he is the best running back they had. They wanted to play that first round. They can't renewed penny Sean, penny candy got hurt and gained sixteen pounds, right? So that one hurts my cause because as bad pick, everybody seems to think their offensive line's a lot better. Do they that we need some prove that gets better. They bring, sweetie back who was a college teammate of Russell Wilson. They get along. So he comes back from Tampa Bay, which is nice peak Caroline for structure. Yeah, they have. They still have the incredible home field advantage. They still have Russell hustle and bustle right. They have the nobody believes in us factor. Now they have everybody's written them off. The Seahawk suck. It's over. Let's go to. Let's move division over to the Rams and these guys are old news pekair will tap into and everybody talks about all the guys. They lost on defense. They kind of already lost those guys last year. Yeah, that secondary already fell apart. It's not like, oh, this is a new thing where their secondary sex. The last piece for me. I don't know if you followed the punter this punter. Oh yeah. What's his name? Michael Dixon. He had a game. He pinned to different fifty five yard punts inside the five year loan. Everybody's saying this guy is like the next Ray guy. So I'm looking all this and it's like, this is ridiculous, but. The QB coaches still top five top six. The combo that right, incredible home field advantage. Nobody believes it us. The punter who is like a human sports movie, the Chris Carson, the running back who actually might be really good. Oh man, that's such Jankowski and and see Bess. I take issue only with everything you just said, but especially with the incredible home field advantage which netted them foreign four last year, I think last year. Team wasn't good less than the quarterbacks division or better this year. Like I think any way you look at it, you know, Jimmy g..

If this company wanted to do what the company has done Ireland, Jay, and Mike, the company has implanted a microchip, the size of a large grain of rice into their hands in paddock between the thumb and forefinger. Okay. When scanned by Rita, the chips are used to make purchases in the company cafeteria and to gain access to the building and for logging into workstation. So here's the question if ESPN seven, ten wanted to implant a microchip into your hands. Would you guys get the chip or do you? Do you think this is a good idea? Or would you say no way, Mike?
